A very beautiful beach with the sea on one side and a river on the other — truly scenic and peaceful! The only downside is that the lighthouse is open only from 4–6 PM, with no morning visiting hours. So, if you’re staying in Malpe or Udupi, planning an evening visit can be a bit tricky since the road leading to the beach is quite remote and lacks sufficient street lighting.

It's a nice place to visit at night as u can see the lightening chariot and the pond would be fully decorated with beautiful lights. But the dharsan pathway is too smelly n the restrooms were not cleaned properly. The food providing hall is also dirtyy.

Menu if fixed Dal, Sambar and Rice. Sambar test so different from ever I eat anywhere. Cleanliness is absolutely fine in Dining hall.. Dishes are not so clena.. Take some tissu and Water botol with you. Don't waste food take all you can eat.

I have had food at many famous temples like Dharmatsala, Tirupathi, Kukke Subramanya, etc. but Udupi Temple have very poor food quality. In the rice serving atleast 15-20 rice bugs was there. We consider this as Prasadam and don’t want to complain. But definitely this quality requires improvement.

Kind of prasasan in the form of food. The devotees are given food free of charges. The serving starts only after a line of people are seated. The plates come in a trolley,. Infact, everything comes in trolleys pulled by the service persons . The plates are to be picked when they go past you. The serving starts with a sweet. Then the rice is served, followed by dal, and finally chaas. The devotees need to give their plates themselves for washing, before washing their hands

Best during monsoon and less effort to reach peak which is hardly finds 20 to 30 stairs but 6-7 kms road travel is very narrow and steepy. Good place to sit and chill.

Do not visit during the monsoon, since you won't be able to see the breathtaking views that everyone is talking about. Once in a while the fog clears up and you can appreciate the view. The drive/ride up the hill is tortuous and difficult. Would not recommend unless you have a bike or a decently powerful scooter. Stay safe!

This place route is not so easy, road condition is totally worse! If suddenly opposite vehicle comes, it becomes difficult to manage and pass from there! It's a Jain temple with breathtaking view at the hilltop of the western ghats during the monsoon season. The road though is in very poor condition. People with good driving experience can take this route. The gate to this place closes down at 5pm so make sure you reach there on time.

There are also guest houses and a dormitory for those wishing to stay overnight. Shops selling flowers and puja items line the approach to the temple, along with some restaurants catering to visitors. Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Rathotsava in December are celebrated with grandeur here, drawing large crowds. The story behind the name goes like, Long ago Once, faced with recurring spells of drought in the region, the sage Agasthya decides to perform yagas and penance to please the gods and bring rain. But all his efforts were constantly ruined by a demon named Kumbhasura living in the vicinity. The sage is determined that the demon must be eliminated to bring peace and prosperity to the region. Having learned that the Pandavas were roaming the region in exile, he requests Dharmaraya (Yudhisthira) to send Bhima for slaying the demon. Being the strongest amongst the Pandavas, Bhima readily agrees and a ferocious battle ensues. Despite Bhima’s strength, he is unable to kill Kumbhasura, who, by the virtue of a boon, seems invincible. Worried about the prospect of defeat, Bhima, while returning to camp after the day’s fight, happens to hear a divine voice that advises him to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha for achieving victory. On praying to the Lord, Bhima is bestowed with a sword by him, in the guise of an elephant that helps Bhima slay the demon. The region thus derives its name from two words namely Kumbhasura, the demon and Asi (sword), the weapon used to slay him. It is also said that as Lord Ganesha descended to earth in the guise of an elephant to bestow the sword, an elephant shaped rock is said to have appeared at this point, thus giving the place its other name, Ane­­gu­dde, meaning the hillock having an elephant shaped rock (ane meaning eleph­ant and gudde meaning hillock in Kannada). A very spiritual and calming place nestled in nature. The darshan of Goddess Mookambika is truly divine and gives a sense of peace. The temple is neat and well organized, and the priests conduct the poojas beautifully. The road to Kollur is scenic, making the journey enjoyable. However, it can get very crowded during weekends and festivals, so patience is needed. The Souparnika River nearby adds charm, but cleanliness could be improved.

Beautiful temple just 5kms from Sagara town. This temple is by default included in tourists route. The idol in garbhagriha is not the original idol. Original idol of 13ft standing Aghoreshwara was destroyed by Islamic rulers. A linga was later installed. The temple of agoreshwara in ikkeri an archaeological maintained structure is an awesome old temple with fine architecture . The main temple structure has siva on a very high pedestal unlike other siva temples. The nandi made of granite sits majestically across. One of the nice places to visit while in shimoga. No other facilities like toilet , drinking water are available.

The temple is built with a mix of hoysala and Vijayanagara style of architecture. As you enter the gates, you first are welcomed by a giant Nandi. Then you enter the temple with the main diety, lord shiva. The temple is not crowded and has parking space at the entrance. There's no entry fee.

AGHORESHVARA TEMPLE, IKKERI Ikkeri grew into a powerful independent kingdom with capital at Keladi under the early Vijayanagara chiefs. During the reign of Chaudappa Nayaka, (A.D. 1499-1544), the capital was shifted from Keladi to Ikkeri. The north-south orientated aghoresvara temple, built in granite, during the time of the Nayaka's of Keladi, is a classic example of the nayaka style of architecture. Stylistically it is datable to sixteenth century AD. On plan it has a Garbhagriha, an Ardhamandapa and a large Mukhamandapa with a separate pavilion for Nandi. Interiorly the floor in front of the shrine has effigies of three Keladi chiefs doing obeisance. The Garbhagriha contains a gignatic pedestal sculptured with 32-seated female figures. The temple has a metal image of thirty-two handed Aghoresvara. In the Ardhamantapa is a small translucent Nandi carved out of white spar. Flanking the Ardhamantapa doorway, on either side are two niches, containing sculptures of ganesa and Kartikeya to right and Mahishamardini and Bhairava to left. The front Mukhamandapa is supported by carved pillars. Exteriorly the sanctum has a huge Sikhara in the Dravida order. The walls of the sanctum have double pilaster turrets. The walls of the Mukhamandapa are pierced with three omate doorways approached by balustraded steps. The northern main entrance is flanked by caparisoned elephants. The available space of the walls is provided with nearly twenty perforated windows with omamental arches interspersed with figure sculptures. The Nandimandapa has a huge couchantibull with a yali-balustraded steps at south. The pavilion has lion-based pillars. Towards the west is parvati shrine built on similar lines to the main temple with lesser dimensions and fewer sculptures.

Small temple with quick 10-15 tour. Well preserved and clean. One of 6 in the small area dating back to 1500 CE when Bhatkal was Vijaynagar empire's main port trading with persian gulf and beyond. Khetapai, one of the diamond business trader is believed to be amongst the many businessmen who donated to make these temples. Worth a quick stop, and only 100mt off the NH66. We happened to have the pujari around and he was very kind to explain the story of the stone art - of various gods, mahabharata and Krishna Leela.

I recently visited the Murudeshwar Temple, and it was one of the most breathtaking experiences of my trip. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located right on the Arabian Sea coast, offering a mesmerizing view of the ocean. The temple is famous for its massive 123-foot tall statue of Lord Shiva, which is one of the tallest in the world. The Raja Gopura (entrance tower), which stands about 20 stories high, is beautifully designed, and there’s even a lift facility inside to reach the top and enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and temple surroundings. You can reach the top of the temple raja gopura via lift until 18th floor. The height of the raja gopuram is 249 feet. The temple architecture is a fine mix of modern design and traditional carvings, making it truly unique. The darshan queue is usually well-managed, and on regular days it takes around 30–45 minutes, though weekends and holidays can get crowded. There’s no mandatory entry fee, but a small donation or special pooja ticket can be taken if desired. - Timings: Usually from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. - Dress code: Modest clothing is expected. men should avoid shorts, and women should wear traditional attire. - Anna Prasada is served during specific hours. - Ample parking, clean premises, and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. - The nearby beach adds to the charm, making Murudeshwar both a spiritual and scenic destination.

The west coast team is very professional and we had a good time scuba diving at netrani Island. Keith and brain were very helpful. The underwater scuba pics were provided within a day. Definitely recommend them for scuba .

The dive center is THE BEST amongst the ones I have visited so far. You must be wondering this what everyone says for every dive centre but here are the reasons why this one is unique and the best. 1. The staff welcomes you and make one feel at home. This in turn helps in making connections outside of diving and not just going on dives. 2. There are many dive sites around Netrani and it takes one a lot of dives around that area to know the ins and outs of the place. Instructors are really enthusiastic about giving guest the best dive experience possible under water. 3. From my experience you’d enjoy the dive if you feel taken care of (also learn neat tricks and tips from experienced divers to improve yourself). The instructors are really accommodating for one’s needs whether I was doing a course or just a fun dive I never felt left out and felt really safe for myself and all the dive buddies diving in the group. I would highly recommend staying for a weekend or more and experience the best nethrani (the best site accessible from mainland India) has to offer with West Coast adventures. P.S. a lot of fake reviews are there as I have seen you can definitely ignore them.

I visited during dasara holidays and it was not very crowded, which made the experience peaceful and enjoyable. The falls looked beautiful and the weather was pleasant. Entry fees is 20 rupees. The experience is of a lifetime. We went during Monsoon on July’25. We were thrilled to see the sceneric beauty. It feels like milk is gushing down from the waterfalls more than water. India’s biggest waterfall is absolutely an eye soother. The ghat roads leading to jog falls, the Shimoga district, the road exiting Shimoga and going towards kumta all are satisfying. ❤️🧿❤️

A calm and serene beach which deserves its name. Most of the beach is clean and pathway is well maintained. One reason of cleanliness might be lack of food stalls and thus no stupid crowds.

It's a nice beach overall. Better when it's off-season as it can get very dirty and crowded. The beach can be very crowded during the sunset. The disabled persons toilet is not usable here as it cannot be accessed by a person using a wheel chair or such.

Eco beach is no more eco friendly. Gutka packet and bad parking management. One lifeguard per thousand also is a rock factor. Many other beaches nearby are far cleaner options for one to try out.

Unchalli Waterfall is absolutely breathtaking! The view of the water cascading down from such a great height into the lush green valley is mesmerizing. The trek to the viewpoint is scenic and surrounded by dense forest, making the whole experience adventurous and refreshing. There are well-constructed viewpoints to enjoy the falls safely, and the sound of rushing water is truly magical. Best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon when the waterfall is in full flow. Highly recommended for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts! Awesome Falls near Nilkund Village Plan your visit after October, once the monsoon ends. During the monsoon season, it gets very foggy and you may not be able to see the waterfall clearly — the view appears for only a few seconds every 10 minutes or so, so you’ll need to wait patiently. The waterfall is about a 700-meter trek from the parking area. It’s formed by the Aghanashini River and offers an amazing view. To get the best view of the falls, you’ll need to climb down around 90–100 steps

The temple was built in 1689, making it one of the oldest Shakti temples in Karnataka. Dedicated to Marikamba Devi, a fierce form of Goddess Durga, she is revered as the “elder sister” (Doddamma) of all Marikamba goddesses across Karnataka. I visited it on a Thursday morning of September at around 7:30 am as I was returning from Jog falls and it was supercool as there was no crowd and I could do Darshan straight. You must visit this if you are around this place. The temple features rare Kaavi murals—an extinct art form of coastal Karnataka involving red-pigmented plaster over a white base, engraved to reveal intricate designs. Inside, a central courtyard surrounded by cloisters displays images of deities from Hindu epics. Shri Marikamba Devi was installed in 1689 A.D. Sirsi was then a tiny village. The deity which is said to have been found in a local tank was installed here through the efforts of the Nandikeshwarmath Swamiji with the consent of Sadashiva Raya II of Sonda Dynasty, a sub-Kingdom under the famous Vijayanagar Empire. Since then Shri “Devi” has become the popular ‘Grama Devata’. Till recently the administration of the temple was looked after by the elders of the town. But from 1955 A.D. the temple is being administrated by the BOARD OF TRUSTEES comprising of 5 members. The trustees are nominated by the District Judge once in five years. Shri Marikamba is the Mother Divine like Kali of Bengal, Ambaji of Rajasthan and Ambabhavani of Maharashtra. She is Mother in love. She subdues the wicked and protects the Virtuous. Temple is very well managed by the authorities. It has good parking facility, huge entrance and a systematic entry and exits that doesn’t crowd the place. Temple has beautiful paintings inside and goddess is in glory inside the temple. I loved the temple red colour theme. There is Anna prasada for lunch till 2pm.

A place where you don't get a mobile network but it is worth visiting. The rocks were amazing. You will love driving here, make sure your car is powerful. There are some nominal entry fees. You won't get food here so carry your own. You can enjoy it outside.

Surreal experience! It’s truly a must-visit place. The caves are mesmerizing, and the route that takes you there is calming and scenic. The Shiva temple is swayambhu, and the walk from the caves is actually a parikrama to the temple. Droplets of water naturally cascade from the rocks onto the Shivling, making it a one-of-a-kind experience. The light filtering through the rock formations in the caves creates a dramatic and cinematic effect.

Road via Mattighatta road(vaddi) is better as walk to Caves is easy and short. Even for senior citizens this route is better. Carry ☔ and water. There is tea shop just at entry point of trek. U get Maggi and other beverages /edibles items. Place is wonderful

The legend of Yana Caves in Uttara Kannada, Karnataka, is deeply intertwined with the story of Bhasmasura and Mohini. Yana is famous for these two massive rock outcrops known as the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara and the Mohini Shikhara Yana is also well known as a pilgrimage center because of the cave temple below the Bhairaveshwara Shikhara where a Swayambhu ("self-manifested", or "that which is created by its own accord") linga has been formed. Water drips from the roof over the Linga, adding to the sanctity of the place. Yana Rocks made up of limestone . It is near to Sirsi Kumata highway. Vehicle not going near to Rock.. A single lane road was constructed in the thick forest which reduces the trek-length 1.0 kilometres .

You can avoid Treck if you go from Gokarna side after Yana cave you can go for Vibhuti waterfall both just take 6,7 hours so go early and experience awesome trills

Tips for visitors: Try to visit in the morning in summer , as you need to trek around 500 meters from parking. The return trail is uphill, which can be tiring for elders and children, especially in hot weather. Washrooms are located at the base and a bit far from the temple, so plan accordingly. Drones are not allowed here, so avoid carrying one. Overall, a wonderful and serene experience — definitely a must-visit spot near Gokarna!

A smallish beach that is clean and also less crowded. I understand this beach can be reached by boat or by hiking from nearby beaches. I had hiked it down from the Belekan beach (30 min) which was an amazing experience. From here I walked down to the Half moon beach. The beach has some shops and shacks.

Paradise Beach is a hidden gem, accessible only by trekking from Om Beach to Half Moon Beach and then onwards. The best time to embark on this adventure is during the early morning hours (6:00 am - 9:00 am) or late evening (4:30 pm - 6:00 pm). Don't forget to carry water bottles to stay hydrated. The scenic trek rewards you with breathtaking views and a few quaint cafes along the way. The lush green surroundings and serene atmosphere make it a truly unforgettable experience. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers!

Truly a paradise if you can endure the rough trek to the beach from the parking area (which we did). An easier option perhaps is to take a ferry ride from Om beach which is more accessible. They offer a pickup and drop facility and offer half or full day packages with some beach activities like kayaking, deep water swimming etc. thrown in at a reasonable cost.

One of the most unforgettable adventures of my life! Reaching Paradise Beach is not easy, you have to trek 2–3 km through a dense, dark jungle. We went at night with just our torches, singing and motivating ourselves along the way. But the moment we reached, it truly felt like Paradise. We camped on the beach, cooked barbecue, and spent the night under the stars. If you love adventure, this place is a must visit. Not for the faint-hearted, but absolutely worth it!

Beautiful , serene and calm beach...We trekked from om beach to Halfmoon to Paradise..such a superb experience...While on the trek trail it feels we are inside a dense forest no sign of sea around and after that beautiful trek the trail leads us to the beach...Amazing view and Experience.. Some shops are available here for refreshments. Waste management is poor is ,we an see some plastic wastes dumped by the sea in the beach

Had lot of fun with friends, done tracking on mountain leads to multiple beaches, had good experience near beaches, played volleyball and other games and at the end relaxing view of beautiful Sunset. It was like mini Goa with less crowd. I went in February during Valentine.

We started our day with a small trek along the cliffs that connect Om Beach to nearby beaches — the views from the top were absolutely stunning! You can spot movie-like scenery all around. Later, we just chilled by the shore, played some beach games like volleyball and frisbee, and ended the day watching a breathtaking sunset over the Arabian Sea — easily one of the best sunsets I’ve seen. 🌅 The beach is clean and less crowded, with a few small shops and shacks offering snacks, lemon soda, and local food. The whole area feels like a mini Goa but quieter, making it great for those who prefer a more peaceful atmosphere. A few quick tips: • No water sports here, so it’s more about peace than thrill. • Trekking shoes or slippers with grip help if you explore nearby spots. • Visit during early morning or evening for the best light and fewer people. Om Beach is not just another beach — it’s a place to soak in nature, unwind with friends, and reconnect with yourself. Whether you want to trek, chill, or just watch the sun melt into the sea, this place will leave you refreshed and smiling. 💙

A wonderful beach for families to enjoy some fun times here. The entrance has a bit of stairs to walk down which can be cumbersome when exiting when you have to climb those same stairs, especially with the sun shining. All in all a beautiful beach. Do visit to experience it yourself.

The most lively beach in Gokarna. The boating from there was top notch. Also the walk to the end of beach along with slight drizzle was amazing. Highly recommended.

It is probably the best beach in Gokarna. There are 5-6 total beaches there which can be accessed both through the roads or hiking the hills. Have been to this place twice and it feels really good to be there. Car parking is an issue there as the number of visitors are gradually increasing in Gokarna. Do visit Mahabaleshwar temple whenever you go there.

I went both at night and in the morning, it was a beautiful beach. Wasn't very crowded the time I went. I definitely liked it a lot.

It is such a beautiful stretch that sets the tone before you even reach the beach. The road is lined with greenery on both sides, with small cafes and local shops adding a cozy vibe. Walking or riding down this road feels peaceful and scenic, especially as you catch glimpses of the sea at the end. It’s well connected, easy to navigate, and gives you that relaxed, holiday feeling right away. A perfect prelude to the calm and charm of Kudle Beach itself!

I have visited the Sahasralingeshwara Temple near Sirsi twice, and each time has been a deeply spiritual experience. Nestled on the serene banks of the Shalmala River, this sacred site is truly unique, with thousands of Shiva Lingas carved on the rocks. Built under the patronage of King Sadashivarayavarma (1678–1718), the place beautifully reflects the devotion and craftsmanship of that era. Walking along the riverbed, the sight of countless Shivalingas accompanied by carved Nandis creates an atmosphere of divine energy and timeless heritage. The calm flow of the river adds to the temple’s tranquility, making it not just a religious site but also a peaceful retreat for the soul. The stairs take you right down close to the water ane shivalimgas, and the whole vibe is super calming. Perfect for a short walk, some quiet time, or just soaking in the natural beauty. Just a heads-up: try not to visit during the rainy season — the steps can get slippery and the water level rises, which makes it a bit tricky to explore safely.

Lingas r beautiful although we could see only few as river was full of water. Don't forget to visit the hanging bridge. Staff there is helpful. Public toilet available but not very clean esp for females.

I recently visited the Gokarna Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple, and it was a deeply spiritual and memorable experience. This ancient temple, located right along the coastline of the Arabian Sea, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered one of the holiest places in South India. The temple houses the Atmalinga, which is believed to be as powerful and sacred as the one in Kashi, earning Gokarna the name “Dakshina Kashi.” The temple architecture is classic south indian style, with beautifully carved stone pillars and a traditional layout that radiates divine energy. The darshan queue is generally smooth, though it can get busy during weekends and festivals. Regular darshan is free, and special poojas or Abhishekas can be booked at the temple office for a nominal fee. - Dress code: Traditional attire is compulsory. men should remove shirt and banyan and wear a dhoti or pancha, and women are expected to wear sarees or salwar suits. - Timings: Usually from 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. - Anna Prasada is offered during specific hours near temple. - Shops outside sell pooja items, prasadam, and souvenirs. - Ample parking space is available at Gokarna main beach which is walkable distance from temple. - People generally do the punya snana near beach and visit the temple. - Nearby restaurants and lodges make it convenient for visitors. We went to this temple on the Sep 28th 2025. Since it was a weekend it was crowded and there was heavy downpour. The roof needs a renovation and most of the devotees were drenched. Once you are inside, the roofing is good and barely any water is seen leaking. They have a strict dressing policy, please ensure to adhere to it. The queues can stretch long but it's a moving crowd and we got darshan in about 30-40mins. The roads leading to and away from the temple are very narrow, so plan your conveyance accordingly. There are several shops in and around the temple. In monsoon it's best you carry a raincoat(u can get this nearby shop for about 100). Umbrella's won't help you a bit during this season. This temple is a must visit if you are gokarna. Recommended.

I recently visited the temple during dasara and had a great spiritual experience. I was able to do sparsha darshan in the morning, which was very special and peaceful. Though it was a festival weekend, the early morning hours were relatively calm and well managed. The temple atmosphere is divine and the ancient architecture adds to its spiritual charm.

This is the one of the oldest temple in Gokarna. The one and only temple where shiva Aamtlinga present.Dhoti is compulsory while visiting the temple. Everyone is allowed to touch the Aamtlinga.Behind this temple there mahaganapti temple where ganpati idol having bump in head due to Ravana hit ganapati as he put the aamtlinga on the earth.Nice temple.

If you want to enjoy bathing in sea water, this will be the best option in India, even better than Goa and Puri sea beach. water is very clear and not so deep ideal for people of all age. For only sight seeing, better go to Om beach. But water will be dirty there.

Gokarna Main Beach is a peaceful and beautiful spot, especially in the mornings when it’s not crowded. The water is clean and the weather pleasant, making it a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Perfect for those looking for a quiet beach experience with good vibes and fewer tourists.

1) Long beach where you find some crowd. 2) Though the beach is not super clean, it is well maintained as per my opinion. 3) One can see 4 to 5 waves coming up one on another at this beach in morning hours. 4) Ample 4 wheeler parking is available. But still you may find difficulty in finding place to park your vehicle. 5) Approach roads are very narrow and you may have to drive through thousands of people walking on these narrow roads.

It was a beautiful beach yes. But out of the 3 beaches I visited (Om, Kudle and Main) I will prefer the other two over this. We started the trek towards Kudle beach from here.

It is a very clean & long beach. There is a little crowd at the entry point however if one ventures further in, the beach is peaceful and secluded. The trafic is also well managed by the local Police.

We visited on weekend. This place was not crowded at that time in Oct end. We did trek in the beach but don’t do trekking in the evening after 5 pm because at that time waves are so high. And u cannot go from one beach to another by trekking.
