However, it can get very crowded during weekends and festivals, so patience is needed. The Souparnika River nearby adds charm, but cleanliness could be improved.

Nice beach with the lighthouse on top of a little hill. Access to water is closed off with nets during high tide, which is a good idea as people usually ignore warnings. There are benches to sit. Also several fast food stalls offering variety of snacks etc.

This is one of the famous beaches of Udupi. A lighthouse by its side it's really a great beach to visit. There are adventurous water sport activities here. The staffs are friendly. They provide life jackets and safety measures are prioritized. Though crowded the place is well maintained.

A very beautiful beach with the sea on one side and a river on the other — truly scenic and peaceful! The only downside is that the lighthouse is open only from 4–6 PM, with no morning visiting hours. So, if you’re staying in Malpe or Udupi, planning an evening visit can be a bit tricky since the road leading to the beach is quite remote and lacks sufficient street lighting.

A must visit for everyone. You will never see such a HUGE collection of real collection of anatomy of animals and humans anywhere else. It will be a learning experience for everyone, and for medical students it's a knowledge world. It's a little creepy especially if you have kids, but my 8 year old liked it. Entry fee only 10, no photography allowed, and no luggage hold facility.

It's such a huge museum. One of biggest in south Asia. Great learning experience. There are plenty and plenty of samples which one can see. So many diseases also captured in museum. Took 2.5 hours to clearly check upon everything... Was a great experience.

One of the most unique museums in Asia, MAP Manipal is a fascinating place for curious minds, especially science enthusiasts and kids. The exhibits are well organized, clearly labeled, and filled with detailed information that makes learning engaging. There’s ample parking available and you can also park opposite the building near the Food Court..Follow the f the MAP signboards, as Google Maps location can be a bit confusing. Do note that the museum features real preserved human and animal specimens, so it might not be suitable for the squeamish. Overall, a truly educational and memorable experience that showcases the wonders of medical science.

Plus, there's an option to reach the top by jeep too, so you can choose your adventure. Trekking is a great way to experience the natural beauty up close, with mist-covered hills and lush greenery all the way. And the moment you reach the top, it's like a divine feeling washes over you - your mind becomes calm, and you feel serene peace. The most popular, adventurous and beautiful trek route is being Hidlumane waterfalls starting from Kattinahole. Need to register online for the trekking. If you are looking for Jeep to reach the peak of Kodachadri, no online bookings required. A 12KMS trail passes through deep forest trials along with Hidlumane waterfalls. Trek is going to easy to moderate trek with slight steep trek during the mid points.

It's a Haven of Butterflies Visited Beluvai Butterfly Meet 2024 (Batch 8): This place is a paradise for nature lovers. We spotted 90 butterfly species in 3 days. The garden's night walk was thrilling, revealing many nocturnal creatures. We savored delicious Mangalorean meals throughout our stay. Excursions to nearby forests allowed us to observe butterflies in their natural habitats. Kudos to Sammilan's team for their excellent organization. Don't miss to buy the beautiful butterfly lapel pins as a souvenir.

Aimed at spreading awareness about butterflies, this Butterfly Park is a must visit. The owner is extremely patient and explains both via a presentation and in-person the lifecycle of a butterfly, the speciality of each type of butterfly. The park showcases a diverse variety of butterflies and plants. It's educational and highly interesting.

I have been visiting this place since 2021, it's been getting more and more awesome, a 3 day session is must visit to see more butterfly activities be it in summer or monsoon, if you go for one day visit you may not be able to see much activity and a butterfly life documentary will be screened at the park. Do try to attend both monsoon and summer meets to see more number of butterflies, also the park is not just for butterflies, you will also find other creatures as well, if you are a macro photographer then you will get one or the other to photograph like moths, snakes, frogs scorpions, spiders and nany more.

Best during monsoon and less effort to reach peak which is hardly finds 20 to 30 stairs but 6-7 kms road travel is very narrow and steepy. Good place to sit and chill.

Do not visit during the monsoon, since you won't be able to see the breathtaking views that everyone is talking about. Once in a while the fog clears up and you can appreciate the view. The drive/ride up the hill is tortuous and difficult. Would not recommend unless you have a bike or a decently powerful scooter. Stay safe!

This place route is not so easy, road condition is totally worse! If suddenly opposite vehicle comes, it becomes difficult to manage and pass from there! Beautiful sights of the valley below and rocks around. The drive up to the hills was difficult with very rough dirt roads. But worth the view.

It's a Jain temple with breathtaking view at the hilltop of the western ghats during the monsoon season. The road though is in very poor condition. People with good driving experience can take this route. The gate to this place closes down at 5pm so make sure you reach there on time.

The best place ever for devotees.. Goddess Annapoorneshwari is so powerful that she makes you to automatically come there, take blessings and have the Annaprasada whenever she wants to see you. Her Ashirvada is the only thing everyone would love to have and she gives it hands full if you seek her blessings from your heart. There are accommodation facilities available. You can have a hot water bath for 30rs only. Washrooms are neat and clean. To prebook the rooms you should contact the office. Waiting time for darshana is around 5 to 10 mins and the greatness of the goddess is she allows all to get her view from as near as possible. Mangalarathi takes place around 1.30 pm in the afternoon and that might be the best time according to me to have darshana in the day time. If you are staying in there then the night darshana and mangalarathi would be great as the Alankara to the goddess looks amazing and divine. From this place sringeri is 3 hours away and you can plan one day trip to both Sringeri and Horanadu. Many types of Seva are available and the Akki Seve is the one which is very famous.

Due to raining the temple sorroundong area was become dirty. Otherwise temple is well maintained. The food is very tasty. The dinning hall is very clean and hygiene. Huge car parking available opposite to the temple. Overall it is very good holly place and everyone should visit.

I recently visited the Hornadu Annapoorneshwari Temple, and it was a truly peaceful and divine experience. The temple is surrounded by lush green hills and the Bhadra River, giving it a very calm and refreshing atmosphere. The temple architecture is traditional and beautiful, with detailed carvings and a golden idol of Goddess Annapoorneshwari, who is believed to be the Goddess of food and nourishment. The darshan felt very special and serene. The temple management is very organized. The darshan queue moves quite smoothly, and even on weekends or special days, the wait is not too long. There’s no specific fee for regular darshan, and the temple offers free meals (Anna Prasada) to all visitors throughout the day. The prasadam is simple, tasty, and served with great devotion. It’s one of the main highlights of this temple. - Clean and well-maintained premises. - Separate area for footwear and a cloakroom for bags. - Plenty of parking space near the temple. - Shops outside selling pooja items, prasadam, flowers, and souvenirs. - Lodging and food options available nearby for those who wish to stay overnight. - Darshan timings: usually from around 6:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Overall, Hornadu is not just a temple visit, but a soul soothing experience filled with devotion, nature, and positive energy.

Dharmasthala temple is a unique in temple architecture, unlike other temples have big gopurams, here the temple architecture looks like a home. - The temple is very spacious to accommodate thousands of devotees. - The premises surrounding the Dharmasthala town is like a forest and bit of uphill. - The main deity is Lord Manjunatheswara - Also, deities you can see Dharma Devas and Ammanavaru - Only traditional dress is allowed for Darsan, Male – without banyan and shirt, Jeans allowed. Female – Saree or Panjabi dress. Children – No western wear. - After Darsan, you can visit the Anna Prasada Hall and have temple food here. - Overall Darsan may take anytime between 30 mins to 2 hours, depending on the day and time you visit the temple. - If you have the time, visit the Netravati river and perform river bath before having the Lord Manjunatheswara Darsan. The lot of parking space is available near temple if you come in your own vehicle. Outside the temple you can find lot of shops and hotels if you need to shopping at roadside and have food. If you have the please do visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple which is about 1.30 hours away from Dharmasthala temple, and in general whoever visits the Dharmasthala temple, they also visit the Kukke Subramanya Temple.

- This devine place is believed to be well known since ages and powerfull too - This temple has a historical story behind it. - Temple darshana timings are as follows: - 6.30 am to 2pm - 5pm to 8.30pm - Annaprasadam timings are as follows: 11am to 3.30pm and 7pm to 10pm - Temple will be usually crowded with devotees, now the temple Authorities have made a good arrangements for the devotees to be seated, so as we move forward in line, we will reach a place where all the people are made to be seated in a room and batch wise they will let them in. - The waiting room is so good, its air contioned room, have a seating arrangements for everyone, there is sepeartwe washroom for ladies and gents. There is drinking water facilities too and stores which sell eatables. Room is also equipped with TV. - Darshanna was quite good compared to before days. - Parking facilities are available - The Annaprasadam dinning hall also is so good and systematically arranged, one should not miss it.

Difficult to find rooms but the cost is affordable to all. Long wait for darshan. Recently they made resting areas during the queue like tirupati. Clean floors. Better to visit in the early morning to avoid rush. We entered at 6.30 am and came out at 7.30 am.

Dharmastala temple and the city visiting is truly spiritual. Location and the nature of the temple is Incredibly amazing. Despite having huge numbers of devotees visiting this place still being organized so beautifully, everything looks great, pleasant and peaceful !! I love visiting this place all the time. We had a fantastic experience at Jungle Lodge Sakrebyle Elephant Camp! The staff were very accommodating and helpful. We requested them to arrange a cake for our daughter's birthday, and they kindly brought one, making the day even more special. The elephant interaction was wonderful - we got to bathe and spend time with these majestic creatures. The natural surroundings and rain added to the charm. The staff's kindness and efforts to make our stay memorable were truly appreciated. Overall, a great experience! 🐘🎂 5/5 stars

We were 2 families with 4 kids. Calling on prior day of travel to check on our visit and food preference gave confidence on our reservation, very nice gesture. Everyone at the resort from the pick up/drop vehicle, guide explaining all details on itinerary, dining staff patience, house keeping staff quick service, less spicy food but with good quality, decent nature walk trek, very good boating, everything was good. Premises kept clean, elephant interaction was very nice especially for kids. Special part was elephants stopping near resort was too good. Team was well prepared to be patient and provide great service, memorable vacation.

Had a wonderful time at Sakrebyle Elephant Camp! From the moment we arrived, everything felt so peaceful and well taken care of. The stay was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff ( Venkatesh & Santhosh along with two others) were genuinely warm and helpful. The highlight, of course, was spending time with the elephants — watching them, interacting, and learning about them up close was such a beautiful experience. It’s one of those places that leaves you with a calm mind and a happy heart. Would definitely love to visit again! 🐘

Amazing authentic experience. First time I saw so many elephants and somewhat authentic and rustic experience. They also allow elephants to roam freely after 1pm in the jungle. They also feed elephants at 12, though we’re not allowed to feed them. Kids will love it.

Had a good stay here at the Sakrebylu JLR. Since it's close to a forest, rooms had worms, millipedes and frogs - but this is unavoidable. The food was quite tasty and we had a very good experience bathing the elephants here! Try reaching this place before 1245 pm - at about 1 pm the elephants will return from the river to go to their resting place, and they pass through the JLR. So you can view them at close range. Also, bathing the elephants is only visa limited booked slots, that too mostly for people booking their stay at the JLR. Elephant bathing activity happens only from 9 to 10 am. Go with the JLR person, talk to them and maybe give them a few rupees and they will ensure you get a good slot and bathing experience.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Sakrebyle Elephant Camp Jungle Lodges & Resorts. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant and memorable. The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and offered a very comfortable stay, while the food was absolutely amazing – fresh, tasty, and served with warmth. A special mention and kudos to the brilliant team of naturalists – Mr. Suresh and Mr. Abhi. They made our treks unforgettable by sharing their vast knowledge of the forest, carefully explaining about the plants, animals, and their lifestyles. They even showed us different pug marks and footprints of leopards, deer, and elephants, and explained how mahouts track elephants using footprints and chain marks – truly fascinating! The highlight was definitely the interaction with the elephants at the camp. Watching them up close and even helping in bathing them was a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Overall, this place offered not just a pleasant stay but an enriching journey into nature, with warm hospitality, great food, clean rooms, and unforgettable experiences. Highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with nature in the most authentic way.

The name of the place is highly misleading. It doesn't have any link with the Elephant Camp, just that it is located opposite to the camp. If the purpose is only to visit the elephant camp, it would be better to stay in any nearby hotel (Shimogga is 15 minutes drive) and arrive at the camp directly at 9AM. Once we are at the camp, it dosn't matter whether you stay at this resort or not. Room was old but clean, we stayed in wooden cottage. Food options were limited but everything they served was tasty. Children play area is begging to be renovated. No other amenities to keep kids enganged. Once we arrived, lunch was ready and after that they took us to boat ride. But, this was paid and they skipped nature walk for this and mentioned that the morning trek would be same as nature walk. But the boat ride was a big dissapointment, it is just a small 10 to 15 minutes ride on the boat. Coffee, snacks were served along with a documentary show. The show about Bhadra Santuary was played on a small TV with very low volume which doesn't serve any purpose at all. Soup was served with campfire followed by dinner. While walking back from dinner to the room, a venomous pit head viper was spotted and promptly removed by the staff, luckily before anyone stepped on it. The lighting in the property is not adequate. Early morning, the trekking was cancelled a wild elephant was spotted. They could have taken for a walk or bird watching, but they didn't oblige. Next activity was elephant interaction. They dropped us in the camp. Entrance was free but, ticket was to be bought for elephant bathing! They could have included that as well. We had to check out after the elephant interaction. Overall, the rate they charged included only a night of accomodation and food, which is grossly overpriced.

Nice place to unwind nature. Full of greenery and wild life, tiger rarely can see but best place for nature lover's. 2 hours peaceful sight seeing inside the deep green forest. Early morning slot better to choose.

This safari was beautiful! Ticket prices are around 600 rupees plus taxes per person for the jeep/boat ride. It’s best to book your tickets online. The best time to visit is during the summer. I wouldn’t recommend going during other seasons as there aren’t many animals visible. We did get to see a few deer, monkeys, wild boars, and Indian gaur. We were disappointed not to see tigers, but the safari was still excellent.

Visited this place early morning at 6.00 am Went for their open jeep safari. Thrilling experience, we weren’t fortunate enough to see a tiger but saw a lot of other animals like wild boar, sambar, bison and a lot of peacocks n peahens. Although this is luck based activity if still suggest going early morning for higher chances of spotting animals. The ride was almost for 1.30 hour. Loved it

The scenery of the place is marvelous. If you go there in early morning, you will experience this yourself. We can take the safari ride in jeeps or in boats. We travelled in Jeep and it cost us like 654 per person and there are ten seats in a jeep. Go there as early as possible because it gets filled with people in a blink of an eye. Although the ride was almost 3 and a half hours long, we did not encounter that many animals. We got stopped in our way by a wild bull. We encountered a leopard and some birds too. There are a couple of small lakes here and there. There is a resting place inbetween the ride where we can fresh up and rest for a bit. The weather was good but pretty cold. Overall, the ride was fun and enjoyable. I suggest you visit it once.

Hebbe Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve visited in Karnataka. The journey itself is memorable — you can either take a jeep ride through the forest or trek part of the way. The fall cascades beautifully into two stages, and the misty surroundings make it feel magical. It’s a great place for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape. Do carry some snacks and water, as there are no shops nearby. Best time to visit is during or just after the monsoon!

Visited on 03.11.2025. Must visit waterfalls when you visit chikkamagaluru. To reach the waterfalls we have to take Off-roading jeep ride and cost of the ride per person was ₹590. The off-roading route was covered with full of scenic views and every view is beautiful one. Jeep will stop at a place which is 1 km far from the waterfalls and we have to walk that distance. Driver will take UPI payments only, he will took the amount at the middle of the ride because there will be no signals at the starting point.

The most beautiful place. I had been there two times. To reach there, we took jeep ride as other commercial and private vehicles are not allowed. Price per head is 599. You will enjoy the journey with scenic view on the way to waterfall. If you have any back pain and all, suggest not to visit and road is good. But it’s worth to get pain to reach there.

The experience is awesome. So beautiful and that off roading is worth every penny. So close to nature. On trekking path , 2 or 3 streams you will find. You will get to see crab,fish everything there. It's so refreshing and beautiful journey. For the jeep ride per head they will charge 590. Beware of the leeches. Such a beautiful place to visit in the winters.

Hebbe Waterfalls is an absolutely breathtaking destination and a must-visit for nature lovers! The off-road jeep ride to reach the falls is an adventure in itself — bumpy, thrilling, and full of scenic beauty all around. Once the jeep ride ends, there’s a 1 and half KM walk through lush greenery and small streams, which makes the journey even more enjoyable and refreshing. When you finally reach the falls, the view is simply mesmerizing — crystal-clear water cascading down surrounded by dense forest and mist. The sound of the waterfall and the cool breeze make it a peaceful and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Chikmagalur! 🌿💦

Hebbe falls is one of the best waterfalls I have been to, the overall lead to it was great, the jeep safari through the hills, then a short 10 minute teek, finally you get to the majestic looking falls and it was all worth it. Water flow was a bit high when we went in October so we could not get too close but still it was worth it. There is a broad waterfall in front a smaller one on top in the foreground. On the way to the falls, you will also cover two small bridges which was beautiful.

A must-visit for nature and adventure lovers! The small trek from the parking lot is refreshing and gives you panoramic views all around. The weather is unpredictable, which makes it even more exciting.

This is the highest peak in Karnataka, stands tall at 6330 feet.👍 Named after sage Mullappa swamy, who believed to have mediated in a cave at the peak. Located 20+ KMs from Chikkamagaluru, would need 40+ minutes due to the winding and scenic hilly roads. Make a note to get the Mullayanagiri vehicle pass online in advance to allow the car thru the checkpost as there are limits on the number of vehicles entering in a day. Need to park the vehicle at Seethalayana giri base and avail a local jeep services (Rs.50 per person one way) there. Jeep drops at the Mullayanagiri base / parking lot and from there it is a 20-25 minutes climb through paved stairs. There are around 450+ stairs, not very even, challenging for people with mobility issues. The climb is beautiful, offers great views of Chikkamagaluru valleys, Baba Budangiri hills and Shola forests, grasslands and distant waterfalls There are no restrooms at the peak, carry water, At the base there are many food cart vendors for snacks. No restaurants or ATMs. Weather keeps changing, most of the time mist engulfs blocking the views and offers a different kind of experience. Carry a light jacket, may tend to get colder post monsoon. At the peak/summit, there is Mullappa swamy temple and a milestone mentioning the height. The summit area can be kept clean and neat, on the other side some old buildings, thrash and debris are seen. ☹️ Would be a great place for taking pics and enjoying scenery/nature 👍

Visited this place before local authorities has made booking tickets online. View is great. Morning views are still beautiful. There is a temple at the top. One can easily spend half a day. One has to park their vehicle near Seethalayyana giri and walk or take jeep for next 3km. Even if you take jeep ride, they'll stop around 1.5 km before actual peak. So, it is very much convenient to walk as the path is very good and not much steep. There are some food vendors near the temple and near Seethalayyana giri.

Great view point. We spent ₹100 at entry, we have to do the booking online only from the website we can do, if you haven’t done you can do at the toll, even if you have network issues they have wifi. Cars ₹100 There are slots, mostly in weekends better book earlier. Bike no charge So u can go by own vehicle or rental or by package too. Own vehicle earlier is allowed till top, now they stop 3km before peak saying its new DC order. Not sure from when and why this came up, but yeah yu can take a jeep from there. Per jeep minimum 6 ppl, per person cost ₹50. In total they charge ₹300 one way, if you are group of less than 6 then also same amount or if yu okay with sharing they u can let two ppl join you. Two way cost avg ₹100 for jeep, which is quiet expensive, and to be honest we can go by our car itself. At top we have small shops, and tower is very bad. They will leave u at entrance from there u have to take 300-350 steps to reach top and there is a temple. Views were so good, climate was chill carry jackets for comfort. Since we went on a weekday it was fully empty.

Just an amezing place. enjoy the nature beauty from highest point of the hill. you need to buy ticket via online or at the entrance. Vehicle needs to be parked near Temple and from there to mullayanagiri , you need to go with shared Jeep. Its worth exploring it.

We visited Mullayanagiri around 11 AM, and the views were absolutely amazing — refreshing wind, scenic mountains, and a peaceful atmosphere. From the drop point, you need to climb around 500 steps to reach the peak, which is totally worth the effort. There is also a temple at the top that adds a spiritual feel to the experience, and the view from there is just stunning. However, the experience felt a bit commercialized. From Seethalayyanagiri parking, jeeps are the only option to reach the drop point, and they charge ₹200 one way. If bikes or cars were allowed instead of forcing everyone to take the jeep, the visit would be more hassle-free and less commercial. Overall, a beautiful place to visit — great for photos and nature lovers — but the transportation arrangement could be improved.

This is a very popular hill station near Chikmagalur that invariably is on the itinerary of every tourist. The drive itself is very scenic and beautiful. The road at places is bad but overall a good experience. Even though we visited this place on a weekday there was a good number of tourists. Light drizzle and a slightly misty top provided a surreal view.

This Peak and View point is mesmerizing!! with Green Mountain & Small lakes mostly covered with Fog in Monsoon and Winter. You must experince this route by Bike/Scooty to experience Green plains and Small lakes Views ..So YouCan Stop wherever you want ,get Good Pics. If you come in Car ..no problem, Shared vehiches available at Parking Point. Dont try with Own Car..unless it was 4×4 ..because Abit of Off-road About 1Km and then Good road For 2 kms. Manikya Dhara Waterfalls is Just 20-30 steps near viewpoint. Small food like Corn is available..Be Aware of 🐒🐒

The corn-shaped peak of Baba Budangiri is absolutely scenic and unique, offering stunning panoramic views all around. Personally, I found it more picturesque than Mullayanagiri, with its distinct shape and serene surroundings adding to the charm. A must-visit spot for nature lovers and photographers!

We visited in the October end, it was great. We can go by our own vehicle to the top. Road is also good. It was fully covered by snow and you can feel the clouds passing by. And also there a temple within caves, but phones are not allowed inside. Nice place to visit, if it’s not covered by snow then you can get great view.

I just loved the place everything is perfect about this place there are 3-4 points here one is peak a view point a water falls(jerry falls) and one temple which is worshipped by both the communities i visited in june and for me it's the best time as monsoon just hit the place.

The journey up to the peak itself is absolutely mesmerizing, winding through beautiful landscapes. Be aware that the forest department collects an entrance fee and conducts checks upon entry. Once you get closer, you'll find there are about 3-4 distinct points to explore, including the main peak, a viewpoint, and a waterfall. You can park your vehicle near the stalls and dargah at the top, from where it's roughly a 2km walk to the peak. Alternatively, if you have a bike or a vehicle with good ground clearance, you can actually drive right up to the last point; it's not as difficult as some might claim. Don't be swayed by local vehicles trying to charge a lot by stating the terrain is unmanageable – that's often not true. Once you reach the final parking spot, making the short 10-15 minute climb to the very top of the peak is a must. The view from up there is simply serene, often cloaked in a mesmerizing fog, creating a wonderfully calm atmosphere. As you enter the area, you'll find stalls selling refreshments like Maggi, bread omelet, fruits, and water, though do note that these items are a little pricier than usual. It's a fantastic place to experience nature's grandeur and find some peace.

A nice spot to visit while you are in Sakleshpura .. unfortunately not very well maintained, even the board to indicate the fort is not there at the entrance.. You have parking area at the foot of the fort. Around 250 steps to climb before you get to the top, a moderate hike.... Fort looks good and has scenic view around... Definitely for folks looking to take photos, ample opportunities 😁

Coming to history of this fort was built by the then king of Mysore tippu sultan on 1792 to mark his power of succession over the region.This fort is used to store the ammunition and gunpowder for cannons.I do not recommend going to this fort unless you are a historical sites enthusiast anyway you will not be able to see the star shape of the fort which is unique. I strictly warn if you are going with older people

Every inch of the temple — from the outer walls to the smallest corner inside — is filled with unbelievably detailed carvings. You could spend hours just admiring the artwork and still keep finding new details! The sculptures are so lifelike and expressive — especially the dancing figures and mythological scenes. It’s hard to believe these were carved out of stone more than 900 years ago. The craftsmanship is truly world-class. The temple is still active, so you’ll see rituals and hear bells ringing, which makes the whole experience even more special. I also took a short guided tour (which I highly recommend) — it really helped me understand the stories behind the carvings and the history of the Hoysala dynasty. The surroundings are peaceful, and the place is well-maintained. It’s a perfect spot for anyone who loves history, architecture, or just wants a calm, spiritual break from the busy city life. If you’re planning to visit, try to go early in the morning or late afternoon for the best lighting on the carvings. And don’t rush — give yourself time to really take it all in.

Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it features a star-shaped plan, intricate soapstone carvings, and graceful Madanika sculptures that embody divine beauty.🎶 The Belur Temple Complex, built during the reign of the Hoysala dynasty, is centered around the magnificent Chennakesava Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, renowned for its star-shaped design and intricate soapstone carvings. Surrounding it are several smaller yet exquisitely crafted shrines, including the Kappe Chennigaraya Temple, built by Queen Shantala Devi as a miniature version of the main shrine, and the Andal (Ranganayaki) Temple, dedicated to the divine consort of Vishnu. Other notable shrines within the complex include the Saumyanayaki Temple, honoring another form of Goddess Lakshmi, and the Narasimha Temple, depicting Vishnu’s fierce man-lion incarnation. There‘s a parking fee of Rs.50 collected but no receipt given. No one to guide further, we had to go around the temple and find the parking lot at the back of the temple. 😒 At the entrance need to leave the footwear at the counter, was charged Rs.30 (no receipt given) At the entrance Guides can be availed ( Rs.500 - Receipt given), guides share history and details of the sculptures for 20-25 minutes. Can easily spend 1-2 hours admiring and taking pics. 😎 Theres a stepped pond and a book stall selling books of rhe history of Hoysala and temple in all languages. Best to visit either morning before sun goes up or after 4 pm as the stones gets heated up to walk Have a good time at the temple. Please keep it safe for generations to come 🙏

Unlike the more crowded temples at Belur or Halebidu, Belavadi feels untouched by time. You can actually hear the sound of your own footsteps echo through the ancient mandapa. The temple itself is a masterpiece. Every pillar is carved with precision, smooth and shiny even after centuries — a testament to the craftsmanship of the Hoysalas. The main sanctum, housing Veeranarayana Swami (Vishnu), stands tall and majestic. The deity’s expression has this divine calm that fills you with a strange mix of awe and peace. On either side are the shrines of Gopala Krishna and Yoga Narasimha, each beautifully sculpted, representing different aspects of Vishnu’s energy.

Make sure to visit the temple early in the day, as it closes by 1:30 p.m. The inner sanctum is often dark, and the camphor light may not always be kindled, making it difficult to view the idols clearly. If a priest is present during your visit, you can request him to illuminate the sanctum and offer your prayers and also give some offerings to the priest. The idols are beautifully preserved, with the Narasimha idol being particularly striking. This temple is a must-visit if you're traveling to Halebidu or passing through Arsikere.

Very calm, clean, and less crowded—perfect for anyone who enjoys heritage sites with less crowd. However, this temple didn’t have parking facilities.

The Hoysaleswara Temple of Halebedu is a remarkable 12th-century monument known for its exceptional architecture, twin sanctums, and elaborate sculptures. Architectural Style and Layout. The temple stands on a raised, star-shaped platform called a “jagati,” designed for ritual circumambulation and to provide spectacular viewing angles of the detailed carvings. The layout features two main shrines side by side—one for “Hoysaleswara” (King) and the other for “Shantaleswara” (Queen)—both containing Shiva lingas and sharing a large open hall (navaranga) for gatherings. Each wall, panel, and even pillar is intricately detailed — often compared to “poetry in stone.” Outer walls covered with continuous sculptural bands (friezes) arranged in horizontal tiers. Lathe-turned pillars — perfectly polished, symmetric, and reflective. Ceilings decorated with intricate floral and geometric motifs. Sanctums house Shiva Lingas, each fronted by a large Nandi (bull) pavilion. Difficult to narrate in words (See Pics) 😎 There’s a museum which houses many other sculptures, inscriptions also inside the premises. There’s a nicely maintained garden area to spend sometime after immersing in the beauty of the place. Some area that can be improved are - The road leading to temple from NH/SH can have proper sign boards and roads and traffic can be managed better. Parking lot can be maintained better. Drinking water taps doesn’t work properly.

Sri Hoysaleswara temple at Dwarasamudra (Halebeedu), is a World Heritage Site built at the apex of Hoysala art and architecture. Every inch of the temple has a story to tell, a sculpture to unveil, a witness to the glory of Hoysala era. Even a high resolution camera with all modern features cannot capture the beauty of the sculptures and carvings. This temple is a must visit site to admire the cultural and architectural mastery of the Hoysals.

Grand and magnificent temple! It's a well visited temple with full grandeur. We went on a public holiday and the crowd was huge. However the darshan inside was easy. This temple is huge so do not rush and give good time to soak in its beauty. The huge nandis are absolutely gorgeous. Plenty of parking available outside the temple.

The church has a picturesque setting and is good for film or wedding shoots, When we went both were happening simultaneously. They say it gets partially submerged in water during rainy seasons. It's a popular spot for photography. The church's Gothic architecture and history as a former place of worship are appreciated by visitors. The church is not at its full and is completely broken with no roof and a few walls intact. I am sure it would look spooky during the night times especially during full moon and new moon day. The church looks best in the afternoon. During the peak rainy season, only one-third of the chapel is visible. The surroundings are generally quiet and peaceful, offering a serene experience. The area could be cleaner, people just litter around and there is no one to educate them. The roads leading to the church are dusty, muddy and not well-maintained.

The Shettihalli Rosary Church, also known as the Floating Church, is one of the most fascinating historical and scenic spots in Karnataka. During the monsoon season, the church appears partially submerged, creating a surreal “floating” effect. In summer, when the water recedes, you can walk closer and admire the beautiful ruins. The area around is full of greenery, water, and agricultural fields, making it an excellent spot for photography and quiet reflection. However, note that the road to the site is narrow, and there is no dedicated parking or shops nearby, so plan accordingly. Despite these small inconveniences, the visit is absolutely worth it for its calm atmosphere, scenic beauty, and historical significance.

Quite a remarkable spot with the old structures by the bank of the reservoir. When we visited it, it wasn't submerged, but it does so during higher water level at monsoon. Temporary refreshment stalls are provided by local vendors with soda-lemon water and other beverages. It was really kept clean, credit to both visitors and local vendors alike. Gets very hot on a sunny day after 10 AM. Try to visit early, by 9 AM to avoid the heat. Car goes all the way, so accessible for elderly persons also.

The church has crumbled from what it was 3 years back. The water level is over 20 feet. Visit before all of it disappears. In winters you will see most of it.

There is nothing like this place. It’s a historical spiritual temple that makes you forget everything and the statue just grabs your attention. If you are physically fit it will take you around 25 mins to climb the mountain but the view, energy and every step was so worth it. I hope I come here again and again. If you have some one who can’t climb the mountain you can ask for doli at main office. The dharshan is worth it.

Nice Place for a Short Trek and Peaceful Vibes Shivagange is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a short trip from Bangalore. It’s about 50 km away and perfect for a one-day outing. The place has a mix of nature, trekking, and spiritual feel. The trek is around 3 to 4 km uphill. Some parts are steep and narrow, but there are railings to help. It’s better to start early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowd. Make sure to carry water, wear good shoes, and be ready for some climbing. On the way up, you’ll see a few small temples and a big Nandi statue. The temple at the top is peaceful, and the view is really beautiful. I visit 21-07-25 Very Beautiful beginners trekking spot close to Bangalore. From Bangalore it's a half day adventure trip. Good to go during weekdays since there will be crowd which is safe. Else go in large groups. During weekdays carry food and water.and valakallu teertha is amezing moment.

We visited Shivagange in the early morning, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. As we started our trek just before sunrise, the cool breeze and peaceful surroundings set the perfect mood. The silence of the morning,made the whole atmosphere feel calm and spiritual. Visiting early in the morning is highly recommended if you want to beat the heat, avoid crowds, and enjoy the serene beauty of the place at its best.

Had a wonderful trek to Shivagange! The trail offers a mix of steps and rocky paths with beautiful views along the way. It’s best to start early morning around 6 AM to enjoy the sunrise and cool weather, as it gets quite crowded once the sun is up. You’ll see many monkeys on the way, so keep your food and water bottles safe. The monkeys are playful but can grab things quickly. At the top, the view is rewarding, but water and snacks are quite expensive, so it’s better to carry your own water to save money. Overall, it’s a moderate trek, with some steep climbs near the top, but manageable with short breaks. The vibe is peaceful in the morning, and the breeze at the peak makes it worth the effort. Highly recommended for a day trek near Bangalore if you love adventure and sunrise views!

It was nice trekking experience here. Some portions are little tough but enjoyed a lovely trip with friends.

Very good place to spend a day's time with your team. You have to trek for 20 mins to reach the camp once vehicle is parked in the nearby village. The camp organizes a few team building activities and adventure activities like rope walking, kayaking and boating in manchanbele dam. But the fun part is that you are allowed to swim in the waters with a life jacket. They also serve decent Breakfast, lunch and tea/coffee snacks.

The main attraction of this place is water. been there for one day outing. Food is not at all good. But you will enjoy the day. Also location is beautiful 😍 .Rest room is too far and why there is no mirror?

Water sports activities are good but they have less boats now available and out of all boats few are not in good working condition, food was ok keeping in mind that place is far from normal living area, rappling was good, rope activities are also ok, staffs are polite, this place is mostly for adventure loving people rather than relax,dance,games(cricket, volleyball,paintball,etc) loving people. No paintball, and mud driving.

Nice place for team outing. Best part was swimming and kayaking in river. Other than that rope activities and team building activities were good. Food was ok. Avallaki in breakfast was smelly. Had to throw it as it is. Sambhar vada and idli was good. Reached there by private bus which we booked for our team. Bus was parked at some 1.5kms away from destination. Had to track to location from there. Since its an adventure camping zone so don't expect any air conditioning room or place to rest. Your whole day is going to be tiring. We started from Bangalore at 8 and reached there by 10.30. Evening we left at 5.30 and reached back by 8.30.

A beautiful place to get away from the city and camp under the stars. The host and their staff did a great job of ensuring we had a good time. The food was amazing! They have a selection of activities to keep you occupied. Overall a good experience.

If you want only back water swimming and boating experience then this the best place. Life Saver Jackets are of good quality. Food is okay okay.

If your are ready for a 1km hike before you get to the place, then this place is for you. XtremeZone is not all that "Xtreme". The food was horrible. A local villager we talked to said that they prepare meals in a very unhygienic manner. The staff was somewhat helpful. The owners have no regards for customers though. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The only plus point is the long drive.

I was amazed to see the grandeur of 600 years old Ghati Subrahmanya Swami temple. While temple staff were very courteous, the hall staff where Sankalp Puja performed were very rude and pushed senior citizens and ladies. That spoiled the pleasant mood. The country building is in dilapidated condition and closed which can be restarted with its shops to increase the income of the temple. In and around the temple needs from cleaning & scavenging. Overall it was very good experience especially to see the stone idols of snakes offered by childless couples whose wish to get a child fulfilled and in gratitude they offered the statues. Thousands of such snake statues confirms the belief.

This place is situated near Nandi Hills. Great location and sceneries are really beautiful. We can do wine tasting here. If they have a system to check whether you are over 21+ for wine testing, it would have been a smooth process. Plan your visit during grapes season to see the grapes. Otherwise they will not allow. If you ask me the cost is more for just seeing the winery process. It is not a big area they are covering.

I always had in mind to visit the vineyard and finally got the chance in Bangalore... It was a great experience, got to know so many things about wine.. How it's made, how to choose as well as enjoy having it... Sonali was our tour guide for the day, she explained everything so well and we really enjoyed the tour. Wine tasting was fantastic where I get to taste 6 varities.. We had our lunch there, mini pizza platter and prawns, delicious fresh food.. Bought some amazing wines too.. Wanted to visit the grape fields as well but couldn't as this isn't the season for it.. May be next for time..

An historical temple also still functional. Beautiful architecture is an understatement. A must visit place when you are visiting Nandhi hills. They do allow marriage ceremony to take place in the temple premises. Most of the structure are getting damaged due to lack of proper security and government negligence I hope they will do something to maintain this beautiful temple.
