Nice beach with the lighthouse on top of a little hill. Access to water is closed off with nets during high tide, which is a good idea as people usually ignore warnings. There are benches to sit. Also several fast food stalls offering variety of snacks etc.

This is one of the famous beaches of Udupi. A lighthouse by its side it's really a great beach to visit. There are adventurous water sport activities here. The staffs are friendly. They provide life jackets and safety measures are prioritized. Though crowded the place is well maintained.

When I visited, there weren’t many water sports activities due to a cyclone warning on the previous day, but usually Kapu Beach offers a couple of fun sports options for visitors. If you are driving from Maple Beach to Kapu Beach, don’t miss the scenic coastal road. On this stretch, you get the sea on one side and the river on the other — a beautiful experience in itself. Just ask the locals for directions to this route; they will guide you. Overall, Kapu Beach is a must-visit spot in Udupi for its natural beauty, cleanliness, and the unique lighthouse experience. Perfect for a peaceful evening or a scenic drive.

A very beautiful beach with the sea on one side and a river on the other — truly scenic and peaceful! The only downside is that the lighthouse is open only from 4–6 PM, with no morning visiting hours. So, if you’re staying in Malpe or Udupi, planning an evening visit can be a bit tricky since the road leading to the beach is quite remote and lacks sufficient street lighting.

The garden's night walk was thrilling, revealing many nocturnal creatures. We savored delicious Mangalorean meals throughout our stay. Aimed at spreading awareness about butterflies, this Butterfly Park is a must visit. The owner is extremely patient and explains both via a presentation and in-person the lifecycle of a butterfly, the speciality of each type of butterfly. The park showcases a diverse variety of butterflies and plants. It's educational and highly interesting.

I have been visiting this place since 2021, it's been getting more and more awesome, a 3 day session is must visit to see more butterfly activities be it in summer or monsoon, if you go for one day visit you may not be able to see much activity and a butterfly life documentary will be screened at the park. Do try to attend both monsoon and summer meets to see more number of butterflies, also the park is not just for butterflies, you will also find other creatures as well, if you are a macro photographer then you will get one or the other to photograph like moths, snakes, frogs scorpions, spiders and nany more.

This kurinjal trek is about 7km from the base point, the last 2km you are exposed to the green mountain ranges and the incline is steep at the last 1km. The view at the top you can see the kudremukha range of mountains. The trek is moderate carry enough water and food, you are not permitted to trek without a guide.

An absolute stunner of a trek — Kurinjal Peak is one of those places that reminds you why you love the outdoors. Located in Kudremukh National Park, this moderate-level trek offers a perfect mix of dense forest trails, open grasslands, and jaw-dropping views at the summit. The trail is well-marked and beginner-friendly, though you’ll break a good sweat by the time you hit the top. Once you’re there — totally worth it. Rolling hills, misty valleys, and endless green in every direction. You’ll need prior forest department permission and a guide (mandatory, since it’s inside a protected area), but the process is smooth and well-managed.

And comes to the iron and ore mining there us a village in the kuduremukha township now has become a ghost town . It is clear message to the human being about the development activities in forest and hill station that natural will truely take over it's land if it is necessary can be seen in the ghost town . Do visit once and try to avoid carrying plastic and keep this range as beautiful as it is .

"5/5 stars! Recently trekked to Kurinjal Peak in Kudremukh and was blown away by the scenic views and rich biodiversity. The 12-14 km trek takes you through dense forests, grasslands, and rocky patches, offering breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. It's essential to book in advance through the online portal and obtain a copy of the ticket upon arrival. A guide is compulsory, costing around ₹1,000 for a group of 10 people. From the ticket office to the base camp, it's approximately 8 km, which can be covered using your own transport for ₹100. There's also a camera fee of ₹300 for DSLRs. One thing to note is that there are leeches present, so it's advisable to carry salt or Dettol to tackle them. We visited in June, which was challenging due to the rain, but the lush green landscapes and unique experiences made it a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. However, for the best experience, October to November is the ideal time to visit, offering clear views and pleasant weather. Moderately challenging, but totally worth it!"

Great place for a 1 day trek and it's very moderate for all types of people to enjoy. One drinking water point available while going and nothing after that. If we get a good weather it's a fantastic view from the top. The peak itself is very sharp and might look bit scary from distant, but not a big problem to reach there.

The place is beautiful . There are many viewpoints and are nice. The trek entry ticket is 475/- per person and 1000/- for 8-10 members for a guide .Trek is for total 14-15 kms . Trek is moderate .A nice experience for trekking.

Panambur Beach — a really nice beach, though it gets quite crowded in the evenings. The best time to visit is early in the morning to truly enjoy the vibe. When we went, it started raining, and the dramatic visuals of nature were both stunning and a bit scary to witness.

Located some 12 km from the city centre, situated quite inside from the main road, this beach doesn’t come close to the fame it has. It’s a dirty, badly maintained and just one-time visit type of beach. Quite spacious and good scope to develop it as a model- sea beach, Government apathy and lackadaisical attitude towards any tourism places not just beaches have made such a wonderful location in a just one cheap and third grade beach. I don’t recommend. But yes, it does have some extra activities to for enjoyment.

You can feel the might of the great sea here. Amazing. Mind blowing. The beach is enclosed in both sides sadly, and even in the front due to it being monsoon so not much to do but sit and stare. If you are lucky you can even spot a few peacocks. Note: They charge you Rs. 100 per 1.5 hours for the umbrella chairs, the non-umbrella benches are free.

Tannirbhavi Beach in Mangalore is a hidden gem for anyone looking for peace away from the hustle of the city. The shoreline is wide, clean, and far less commercialized than most popular beaches, making it perfect for long walks, sunsets, or simply sitting by the waves. The sea breeze here feels refreshing, and the golden hour views are absolutely worth the visit. What I loved most is the calm and uncrowded vibe—you can actually hear the sound of the waves without constant noise around. However, since there aren’t too many shops or eateries nearby, it’s better to carry your own snacks and water. Also, swimming can be tricky because of the strong currents. Overall, Tannirbhavi Beach is a beautiful spot to unwind, capture stunning pictures, and experience coastal Karnataka in its raw, natural form. 🌊✨

Lived up to the expectations of a Blue Flag award. To get here, you take a short ferry ride from near Sultan Bathery across the Gurpur river, followed by a quick 400-meter walk. The month I was here (July), the tides were high and barriers along the shore kept us from entering the waters. Such a beautiful spot to spend time at. There are mini cafes at the entrance where you can grab a quick bite during your visit. Sorry I don’t have the best pictures!

Tannirbhavi Beach which is a blue flag beach awarded by Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), India for that meet high standards in water quality, environmental management, safety, and sustainable tourism. Essentially, it signifies a beach that is clean, well-managed, and environmentally responsible. The beach was very gorgeous, neat and I really fall in love with the beach. Since its rainy season and lot of high tides around in Arabian sea, Beach management asked visitors not to enter into the sea and they put barricades around the sea. Worth visiting.

Historically, Thanneer Bhavi has been known as a peaceful riverside spot, and over time, it became a calm coastal beach visited mostly by locals. Unlike the more popular beaches, this one is quiet and serene—perfect for those who want to enjoy nature without the crowd. If you’re visiting Mangalore and want to experience the raw beauty of the sea, Thanneer Bhavi Beach is a must-visit. You’ll come back feeling refreshed and connected to nature.

Very beautiful and one of the most popular Lord Shiva temples in manglore.🙏🏻 The place is really calm, quiet and peaceful . Morning times are the best to visit the temple to experience the calmness. Right from entering the gate of temple we feel as though we have stepped into a place surrounded by nature 🌿 and enchanted calmness. Here Lord Ganesha , Goddess Parvati , Lord Ayyappa and few other deities are also worshipped. This temple has lots of levels At the ground floor you can see the main deities which I mentioned above. When you climb stairs to firt floor you will reach a place with a big rectangle water tank divided into amall square shaped tanks. There are folklore legends that these water tanks hold medicinal values and taking a dip in these water tanks cure many diseases. The water in these tanks is filled by the great Kaashi Bhagirathi River. It flows out through an opening under Lord Ganesha temple. People can drink that theertham from there as well fill bottle to carry the theertham home. This same theertham can be filled in small brass vessels near to a stairs and we can do jal archana by our own hands to Lord Shiva which have to again climb few stairs to reach the Shiva lingam.🙏🏻 There is a big statue of Lord Hanuman if you climb little more further. The view from here is mesmerizing. There are a lot of steps to go up and down. So if you are planning to visit only the main deities then it's at the ground floor which you can reach by climbing only a few steps. But rest all the other areas have a lot of climbing to do. Kadri Manjunatha Temple, nestled in the heart of Mangaluru, is one of the oldest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Believed to date back to the 11th century, its architecture bears the imprint of regional dynasties and offers a glimpse into the social, cultural, and religious life of the time. Over the centuries, the temple evolved into a vibrant center for community gatherings, extending its role beyond spiritual worship. The temple complex is enriched by natural springs, laterite caves, and sacred water tanks. At the rear, an elevated spring known as Gomukha emerges from the hillside. Local belief holds that its waters originate from the Bhageerathi River in Kashi, earning it the revered name Kashi Bhageerathi Theertha. From Gomukha, the water flows into nine adjacent ponds of varying sizes, each adding to the temple’s serene and mystical ambiance.

Kadri Manjunath temple also known as Kadri Manjunatha temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva in Mangalore, Karnataka, is one of the oldest Shiva temples. Hence, this historic temple is one of the must-visit temples in Kadri, Mangalore, for devotees of Lord Shiva. As per Kadri Manjunath temple history, the temple is really old as it was built in the 10th or 11th century and was transformed into a stone structure in the 14th century. Hindu and Buddhist histories intertwine with the temple. People practised Buddhism until the 10th century CE. The Nath cult was a mix of Hindu and Buddhist traditions and saw a decline, after which the Buddhist temples were converted into Hindu places of worship. Furthermore, as per the words of poet and writer Govinda Pai, ‘Manjunatha’ refers to Lord Shiva and ‘Kadri’ is a part of Kadri Vihara, a Buddhist monastery belonging to the Vajrayana cult. Kadri Manjunath temple has references in mythology related to Parashurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Consequently, the place became the abode of Lord Manjunatha, where devotees now flock to the place for the Lord’s blessings. This is a must visit temple if you are in the vicinity of Mangalore. It dates all the way back to the 10th-11th centuries. There is a fresh water spring the source of which is supposedly the Bhagirathi river in Kashi, hence considered very holy. There are also caves that date back to 4-6th century AD. They are purported to be visited by the Pandavas.

Visiting the Temple in the morning is such a calming experience. The cool breeze, the faint sound of temple bells, and the early sunlight just sets a peaceful tone for the day. The place feels really pure and quiet at that hour, away from the usual crowd. The architecture beautifully blends old-world charm with spiritual energy. There are also smaller shrines around, and the natural springs near the temple are believed to have holy water. The surroundings, the small pond, and the greenery around the hill just add to the charm. One of the best parts is pouring water over the Shivling. There’s something very soothing about it.

One of best temples of Mangaluru. A must visit and enjoy the yummy anna prasadam during the lunch. I was amazed to see many school and college kids in their uniform at the lunch to enjoy the free and tasty food they provide everyday to the devotees. Please note wear some kind of socks during summer as it will be gruesomely difficult to walk on the stone floor in hot weather.

A tranquil temple slightly away from Kasargod town. As we step into the temple premises there is an instant calm that settles in you. A beautiful experience. Do not miss the sannidhis near the dining hall. I have heard that the annadaanam here is very good.

A must visit temple. It's near Kumbala in Kasaragod dist. About six km from Kumbala railway station. You will get Autos from station for about Rs. 130-140. The temple closes after "Ucha pooja" at 12:30pm and after that there is Anna prasadam, very delicious veg lunch. There is guest house also. Those who want to stay can book by calling to the temple office.

This is a unique Hindu temple in Ananthapura, only temple built in the middle of a lake in Kerala. 👍 The main sanctum is surrounded by a rectangular lake, access to the sanctum is via a footbridge on the eastern side. The temple welcomes all visitors regardless of faith who are respectful and mindful of the sacredness of the place. Dress code - Men need to remove the shirts / T-shirts before entering sanctum area (you can remove and keep them with you). Women are expected to wear Saree, salwar Kamez, or long skirts. Avoid sleeves tops, short dresses or tight western wear. Puja tokens are issued near the entrance counter The lake seems to have a Vegetarian Crocodile 😀 we couldn’t see though. Footwear must be left outside the temple like any other temple. (No shoe racks) Photography inside sanctum not allowed. There’s enough parking space for two and four wheelers outside. Few shops in parking area to buy any puja items.

The Shree Ananthapadmanabha Swamy Temple, often called the Ananthapura Lake Temple, is a captivating and peaceful sanctuary nestled in Kumble, Kasaragod. As the only lake temple in Kerala, it offers a truly distinctive pilgrimage experience. It is an absolute must-visit! This temple holds immense spiritual importance as it is believed to be the Moolasthanam (original seat or source) of the much larger and famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The legend centers around the great sage, Divakara Muni Vilwamangalam, who was performing penance here. Lord Vishnu appeared before him as a mischievous child, whom the sage, annoyed by the pranks, chastised and pushed away. The child vanished into a cave, proclaiming that the sage would find him again at 'Ananthankadu' (the forest of the serpent Anantha). This cave is still visible near the lake, and the sage's subsequent journey led him to Thiruvananthapuram, where the massive Padmanabhaswamy Temple was eventually established. The Deity and Spiritual Core The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his non-reclining form, Ananthapadmanabha, The main sanctum is built on a rock structure in the center of a large rectangular lake (known locally as the kottaram). The architecture follows the classic Kerala style, blending seamlessly with the serene natural environment. The Lake and Its Divine Guardian The most famous and unique feature of the temple is the natural lake and its resident 'divine' crocodile, Babiya. Legend holds that Babiya is the guardian of the temple and is a strict vegetarian. While we visited the temple, the famous crocodile, sadly, remained elusive. We could not find the crocodile on this visit, but the large pond did host several fishes, which were cool to watch as they darted through the water. The Ambience: A Cool Midday Retreat We visited the temple around 12:00 PM in the afternoon, which might typically be the hottest time of the day. Surprisingly, the atmosphere was exceptionally calm and refreshing. The traditional architecture, the lush surroundings, and the cooling effect of the water all contributed to a wonderful, cool vibe. It was a serene and welcoming experience, making the midday journey completely worthwhile. Accessibility and Tips The temple is located approximately 14-16 km from Kasaragod town. It is easily reachable by road. Timing: Check timings before visiting, as like many temples, it closes for Ucha Pooja (midday worship). Visiting around 12:00 PM might mean you arrive just before the closing.

Bekal Fort is a must-visit gem in Kasargod! The old colonial-style fort is beautifully constructed, and walking through its massive walls gives a glimpse of history and architecture that has stood strong for centuries. The fort itself is well maintained and offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea. Right next to it is Bekal Beach, which is clean, lively, and very happening. There are plenty of small stores and eateries around, making it a perfect spot to relax after exploring the fort. The sunset view from both the fort and the beach is simply spectacular. A perfect blend of history and natural beauty — highly recommended for anyone visiting North Kerala!

Bekal Fort is one of Kerala’s most impressive and beautifully maintained historical landmarks by ASI. 👍 Got famous after a Movie song in film (Bombay) 🎥 The entry / parking can be better managed, had to wait on the road for 20-25 minutes inching from main road to parking lot. Parking charge is Rs.40 Entry Tickets to be bought at the counter opposite to the main entry to port (Rs.25) Spread over 40 acres, it’s the largest fort in Kerala, built in the 17th century by Shivappa Nayaka of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty. Later, it came under the control of Tipu Sultan and the British — each era leaving its mark on the fort’s architecture and story. Prepare for long walks and inclined climbs in watch towers. Scenic views of the sea and nearby beaches and town views, worth it. There are stone benches to sit / relax. Could see drinking water taps at few places. There are couple of small shops selling ice cream, juices and water, packed chips, etc. Best part is on the west side sea viewing point (going down stairs) and watching sunset. There are places to sit and also go up to the final watch tower where the waves hit against. Around 5:45-6 the guards keep whistling to get the people out 😀 There are small sandy beach areas besides the port but access is restricted, though could see few people. Sea is rough so not recommended to venture. Overall a great place to spend few hours and take pictures 👍

Incredible fort. The entry fee is Rs. 25. This fort offers breathtaking scenic views. We arrived early in the morning, and the central area was peaceful. Upon reaching the viewpoint overlooking the beach, the sight was stunning, and the gentle sea breeze was calm and soothing. Overall, it is a lovely place to relax and enjoy.

Visited Bekal Fort recently — it’s a beautiful historic place with a stunning sea view. The atmosphere is peaceful and perfect for an evening visit. The fort area is well maintained, though it can get quite hot during the day, so sunset time is best. Nearby, there’s an ANERT EV charging station, which was very convenient for charging my electric car. Food options are limited (mostly ice cream and water), but overall it’s a must-visit place in Kasaragod! 🌊🏰⚡

Had a wonderful sunset cruise experience. Ravi, Captain Krishnan, and the staff welcomed us with a smile and we know we are in for an amazing boat ride. Great hospitality and made sure we had a relaxing trip. The route covered many islands and a view of the Arabian Sea. The views were spectacular and we saw a beautiful sunset amid the clouds. Don't miss the tea and fritters. Highly recommend this cruise if you are in Bekal.

We had a great time on this houseboat ride. We did a day ride as a couple and they arranged it for us on short notice. The team is informative and the captain was also kind enough to let us sit at the wheel for a short while! They also had good snacks on board and they made a good tea.

What a beautiful and serene experience it was to spend a day and night on the houseboat! I must especially mention the wonderful hospitality of the crew — Mr. Krishnan, Hari, and Narayanan Chetta— who made our stay so comfortable with their warmth and exceptional food. The Karimeen was the highlight of it all! Truly memorable, and I’ll definitely be coming back again with the whole family.

Our houseboat cruise in Kerala was an unforgettable experience, made even more special by the wonderful crew—Ravi, Krishna (our skilled captain), and Narayanan (the amazing chef). From the moment we stepped on board, Ravi made us feel completely at home, ensuring we had everything we needed. Krishna expertly navigated the serene backwaters, giving us breathtaking views of lush greenery, swaying coconut trees, and charming village life along the way. It was incredibly peaceful, and we could have stayed on the boat forever! And then there was the food—Narayanan prepared the most delicious traditional Kerala meal we’ve ever had. The spread included perfectly cooked rice, flavorful sambar, fresh vegetables, and the highlight: mouthwatering Karimeen (pearl spot fish) that was cooked to perfection. Every bite was a treat, and it was clear that the food was made with love. This cruise was the perfect mix of relaxation, scenic beauty, and incredible hospitality. Huge thanks to Ravi, Krishna, and Narayanan for making it such a memorable experience. If you’re visiting Kerala, this is an absolute must-do! This is the sacred birthplace of River Cauver. This place has a panoramic view. The drive from Baghmandala to Thala Kaveri is panaromic. River Kaveri is wife of Agyasthiyar Rishi also known by name Lopamudhra. There is no cost/ ticket to dip in holy Cauvery starting point Kund. One can offer some dakshina to the preist there who will happily do basic pooja. Beside the Kund, there are dress changing room separate for men and women. Also to mention free slipper stand and toilet are available as one enters the shrine Gate. First time when I went to Cauvery Kund, there were lot of tourist from north taking holy dip. But, the second time I went in September, during rainy season. Very few tourists came. the Kund had freezing water and the dip in Cauvery, is etched to my memory for life long. After taking holy dip and changing dress; perform pooja to Kaveri with preist. Then go up 20 steps, to visit 3 temple built. The Shiva linga is the one worshipped by Saint Agastya rishi.

Beautiful place and temple sorrounded by nature at its best. Its a must visit place when you visit coorg. It's the birth place of river Cauvery. They provided Anna prasadham when ve visited there. It was very good. It's recommended to start early to avoid crowd.

We reached here during afternoon time so the temple was closed. Timings: 6:30am-1:30pm to 3:00 pm-8:30 pm We visited a beautiful clean lake just situated opposite of the temple. (Swimming is not allowed) There is a beautiful newly built garden and linga and gods statues.

The abode of both Vishnu, and Shiva in a single temple is indeed a very rare didn't to behold. A serene temple to go to. It sits across the Triveni sangama, the merger place of three rivers. With Talakaveri in its background, the temple is the epitome of peace. It really personifies the calmness that one seeks when visiting a temple.

We visited on saturday, very less crowd. Temple cleaning was taking place when we reached. The temple priest was very interactive and explained about the temple and it's architecture.

Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple Also known as Bhagandeshwara Kshetra, Sri Bhagandeshwara temple is situated at an elevation of 898 meters, at the Bhagamandala village in Coorg, which is also famous for the Triveni Sangama, a popular sightseeing place in a Coorg tour. This temple is primarily dedicated to Lord Bhagandeshwara, a form of Lord Shiva. However, idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Narayana and Lord Subramanya have also been kept and worshipped in this temple. Although there is no information on the exact date and time on the construction of the Sri Bhagandeshwara temple and other temples around this area, it is considered to be more than 1000 years old. It is said that this temple was built during the Cholas dynasty. It presents a Karavali (west coast) architectural style, with a gabled roof. As per the few historical records which are available, this temple has undergone renovation in 1790 AD, during the reign of Maharaja Veera Rajendra Wodeyar who was the then King of Kodagu. This temple is located quite close to the Triveni Sangama which is the meeting point of three holy rivers namely River Cauvery, River Kanika and River Sujyoti. History of Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple Skanda Purana, a holy text belonging to Hindu religion, mentions the temple and the legend behind it. As per the legend, Bhaganda Kshetra which was the ancient name of Bhagamandala, a great saint Sri Bhaganda Maharshi used to reside in his ashram located at this place. The name Bhagamandala has also been derived from the sage’s name. Sri Bhaganda Maharshi, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva and Lord Subramanya performed rigorous penance to please the Gods and receive their blessings. Lord Subramanya, pleased with his unrelenting devotion, blessed Bhaganda Maharshi and the place and named it as Skanda Kshetra. Such an awesome , ancient temple to Sri Subramanya . The architectural speciality is its Gajaprishtakara vimana ( shaped like elephant back) and the very lovely wooden bracket sculptures . In the evening , when they light the oil lamps , it is a truly divine atmosphere . The temple pond is a picturesque place , with a very ancient tree nearby . Devotees can feed puffed rice to the fish in the pond .

Very bad .. no proper way or family friendly way to get to the waterfall.. if you cannot do trekking for more than 3 kms , then it is of no use.. better not visit this place .. very dangerous for family members

Chelvara Waterfall is absolutely stunning! 🌊✨ The view is amazing, surrounded by lush greenery that makes it a perfect spot for nature lovers. The sound of the water and the peaceful atmosphere make it a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Coorg. Must-visit if you’re in the area! 🌿

This waterfall can be considered more of an optional stop during your Coorg trip, as you can’t actually reach the bottom for a close-up view. The location is a bit far and there aren’t many other attractions nearby, but if you have extra time, it’s still worth a visit. You’ll need to climb a little to reach the side viewpoint, but the scenery from there makes the effort worthwhile and offers a refreshing experience amidst nature.

The drive to the falls is quite good, through the hills and coffee plantation. The falls is visible from the road itself. There's a short hike (200m) from the road, through a small part. Beware of leeches though. The road goes towards a peak and viewpoint from here. That was totally worth it btw.

Chelavara waterfalls is a nice waterfall in Coorg near Kabbe Betta. There is a small parking space (for 2-3 cars) here. Waterfall can be accessed by a small 5 minute hike. Bicolored frogs can be spotted here. Area can be bit dirty especially during rainy season, recommend good shoes while visiting the falls. Not recommended to enter the waterfalls even though it doesn't look dangerous, it seems many have lost lives here.

There is a small hike to reach the view point of the falls. However due to heavy monsoons, there is no entry to the falls, you can view the falls from far. The view is beautiful, with greenery all around

Chelavara Waterfalls is a scenic natural waterfall in Coorg, Karnataka, located about 16 km from Virajpet and 12 km from kakkabe town . A tributary of the Kaveri River, it is surrounded by coffee plantations and dense forests. It is important to note that accessing the waterfall has been restricted due to past incidents.

Clean and well maintained. Good for a walk and spend a peaceful time. But there is no dedicated parking space allotted. Improvement for vehicle parking has to be done.

Payyambalam beach is one of the famous place in kannur about 3+ kilometre stretch relaxing places and 2.5 km away from railway station And the side of beach is filled with cafes and small tea shops for refreshing and neat and perfect road that can feel the vibe of beach while traveling its a nice experience And we visited on the weekday so the rush is a moderate and in weekends the beach may be get rush

Nice beach beautiful you can chill here with family and friends with no charges. You can drive your vehicles across the beach it may be charge . You can eat ice creams and chai. Near at the beach is park for childrens to play slider, swing, siso, etc. You can watch the sunset and sunrise herei. In Sunday chance to heavy block. My advice to come with 2 wheeler to reach early

Overall Payyambalam beach is my most favourite place in kannur for a relaxation and refreshments from my busy life. Payyambalam Beach in Kannur is a lovely spot for an evening hangout, and the beach itself is commendably clean. However, getting there and back can be challenging. The access road is extremely narrow, barely a single lane, yet it handles two-way traffic, leading to severe congestion and making it difficult to even walk on the side. Furthermore, finding an auto-rickshaw or other transportation is very difficult here.

Good, but need more maintenance. Beach is full of plastic. It free for public. You will get chats near the beach. Parking in weekend is little bit clumsy.

I visited St. Angelo Fort in Kannur last week with my friend. The view from the fort was amazing — you can see the sea and the surrounding areas very clearly. It’s a peaceful place with a lot of history. I also learned that many movies have been shot here, which makes it even more interesting. Definitely a great spot to visit if you want to enjoy nature and explore some historical architecture!

St. Angelo fort is located right at the edge of the shore and the place gives a resemblance of mini town. It was vast and had monuments preserved. The place had a beautiful view from a cliff like view point where you could see a beautiful sunset. It is one of the places you should visit while you are at Kannur. I recommend to check this place to experience some of our history.

St. Angelo Fort, located in Kannur, is one of the most prominent forts in northern Kerala with immense historical significance. Its location along the Arabian Sea provides a stunning view, making it a must-visit spot for history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. From a visitor’s perspective, the fort offers some good facilities. There is a wheelchair-accessible parking area, and the parking fee is ₹30. The entry fee is quite reasonable at ₹25, making it affordable for most travelers. However, the maintenance of the site leaves much to be desired. Vegetation overgrowth is visible in many parts of the fort, which takes away from its charm and makes walking around less pleasant. The Archaeological Department seems to be giving minimal attention to upkeep, which is disappointing considering the historical importance of this monument. With better care, proper cleaning, and controlled landscaping, the fort could be preserved more effectively and provide a richer experience for visitors. Overall, St. Angelo Fort is an important heritage site with great potential, but it currently suffers from low maintenance. Worth visiting for its history and scenic views, but visitors may feel that the site deserves far more care than it presently receives

An incredible fort, St. Angelo, whose history dates back 500 years. It's a nice experience to explore this historical structure. There are many scenic points and viewpoints of the Arabian Sea, and nice photos can be taken. The fort was built on a rock that is separated from the mainland. It is surrounded by water and has only one entrance. Plan a relaxed 2-hour visit to the fort. Carry an umbrella for comfort. Snack and drink stalls are available inside. The fort was built by the Portuguese for trade. Later, it came under the Dutch and then the British. Now it is under the maintenance of the Archaeological Survey of India.

This is a must visit place if you're in Kannur and specially if you're one who loves witnessing historical place or sunset views. The place is nice for group outing and one can get lot ofo actions to click pictures. An important udate: The location where Google maps takes you is slightly incorrect. This area being partially occupied by defence establishment, some roads are closed for general public and you have to go slightly ahead of the location mapped on Google.

The Fort is worth the visit but felt really bad looking at the condition of such historic momument of 16th Century. Though the fort is maintained by Archeological Survey of India, still water seepage is all over the Fort. Request authority to take some more care to prevent the natural erosion. Also Food should not be allowed inside. Strict rules for public need to be brought in.

Neatly maintained by the ASI, Fort St. Angelo is situated in a cantonment area facing the Arabian sea. Lot of parking. Tickets can be purchased on-site both in online and offline mode. Lot of shades to simply sit and spend time.

What a lovely beach, never seen a beach with cars drive in, pleasant feel. The sunset was stunning, whole beach is extremely clean and neat, not even seen a singer plastic. The sand is soo is haard, you feet won't go inside it. Amazing experience, definitely love to visit again.

Kannur’s signature Drive-in Beach truly lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful seaside experiences in Kerala. Though it was under maintenance during our visit, we could still appreciate the charm and thoughtful design of the place. The beachside infrastructure is excellent with long well-paved walkways, kids’ play areas, and elegant lamp posts that add a unique character to the stretch. The walls adorned with paintings of local folklore give the place a cultural touch and make evening walks even more enjoyable. We were lucky to witness a magical moment when the bright sunny sky suddenly turned dark and cloudy, rain pouring over the sea ahead of us before sweeping toward the shore. We ran laughing for cover under one of the play area canopies, making it a memory to cherish. Ample parking space and neat surroundings make it even more convenient for families. A must-visit spot when in Kannur.

Yeah... A place to be for the people who love to be close to the sea.. hera the sound of waves and also love their car/bike as much. It's kinda a dream for a rider/driver to ride along the beach /on the beach and most of the places one can't take that chance.. This is probably the only place in country to have safe 'drive in beach'. You can drive/ride any of your vehicle safely and enjoy the feeling. The place is not very crowded also at least on weekdays.

It is famed for being a drive-in beach, meaning you can drive vehicles (cars, bikes) right along the sandy shore. The stretch is about 3.8 to 4 km long (some sources say up to 4 km) where the sand is firm enough to support driving. The beach is protected by black rocks which help break stronger waves, making the nearshore area safer for swimming. There is a small island called Dharmadam Island about 100–200 m south of the beach. During low tide, one may walk from the beach to the island. It has also been recognized in media: in 2016, BBC Autos listed it among the “best beaches for driving.

One of the best drive-in beaches in the country and Kerala. See the pics and videos 😎 It’s great to drive along the sandy shore touching the waves from the car, it’s a 4 KM stretch shore, don’t go too much inside 😀 The sand is relatively hard/compact which helps prevent the tyres from sinking and makes driving possible comfortably There are black rocks on the beach and inside sea which act natural barriers to strong waves so bathing/swimming is possible in the beach. They are picturesque to the photos too🤩 The shore line offers beautiful sunset views, not sure of the sunrise views. Dharmadam island is visible from offshore, during low tide one can walk to it from the nearby beach (not from here) Seasonal - water sports, catamaran rides, parasailing etc and Beach festival in April The beach is clean, well-maintained, and gives a very refreshing vibe. The entry fee is just ₹40 (for car) which is worth for the experience. There are few food cart vendors for snacks and drinks, which is handy.😛 Only downside is the drive to reach through Muzhappilangad Beach Rd for a KM with narrow roads and a railway crossing. Try the Edakkad beach road. 😟 Overall, it’s a must-visit place in Kerala —unique, relaxing, and memorable!👍

Beautiful drive-in beach with clean shores and a great driving experience. Perfect for family visits and drive. Only drawback is the very narrow access road, which causes traffic blocks on weekends and holidays. Still a fantastic spot overall!

This temple is built in the traditional architectural style of Kerala. The temple surrounded by an open courtyard. Lush green forests encompass the temple premises, and the peaceful surrounding has a refreshing effect on the mind. They hosts special poojas and festive celebrations throughout the year. The temple opening timings in Thirunelli are from 5:30 AM to 12 PM and 5.30 AM to 8 PM. You should go to the temple in winter, between November and February, to enjoy the best.The weather is ideal during that time. There is no entry fee

We recently visited the Tirunelli Temple as a family, and it was a peaceful and memorable experience. The drive to the temple is beautiful, with well-maintained roads that pass through scenic forest areas — a treat for nature lovers. Though the temple is currently undergoing renovation, it doesn’t affect the visit or rituals. The surroundings remain calm and spiritual, and we had no trouble accessing the main temple. Overall, it's a serene place worth visiting, both for its spiritual significance and the scenic journey to get there.

Peaceful and calm temple located in the foothills of bramhagiri. Visit before 12:30 in the noon. Temple opens again at evening 5pm. Roads are good from kerala, please avoid HD kote manandavadi road via nagarhole if you are travelling from Mysore.Roads are horrible inside the tiger reserve, instead take the gonikoppa kutta tholpetty route to reach thirunelly.

Thirunelli Temple is located about 50 km from Wayanad, near the Kerala-Karnataka border. Nestled in a valley surrounded by lush forests, it has the majestic Brahmagiri Hills as its backdrop. A road trip to the temple through the hilly landscape can be truly exhilarating. Pilgrims visit Thirunelli Temple mainly to perform ancestral rites known as Bali Tharpanam. It is believed that performing these rituals here helps liberate the soul of the deceased from the earthly realm. Ample parking is available for visitors, although the temple is currently under renovation.

Visited Meenmutty Waterfalls and it was absolutely worth the effort! The short trek through the forest is refreshing, and the sound of the waterfall gets louder as you get closer pure magic. If you’re coming from the Vadakara side and looking for a quick nature escape, this waterfall is an absolute must visit.It’s one of the nearest waterfalls in the area and surprisingly still less crowded which makes it even more special. It’s not a tough trek or hidden in some remote corner it’s very easily accessible, making it perfect for a spontaneous trip with family or friends. The best time to visit is during the post-monsoon season. The entry ticket costs ₹65. Visitors need to walk about 200 meters to reach the falls. The road from the main road to the ticket counter is narrow and damaged in many places. There is a small parking area adjacent to the ticket counter. The tea plantation near the ticket counter is very beautiful. It is a great place to visit on the weekend.

Providing a window to the past and the public enjoyment to promote cross-cultural dialogue and understanding the heritage through its exhibitions and programs. Preferably on weekdays there will be less crowds than other days. Crafts, Souvenirs and many available at affordable prices. There is huge parking available inside with a small fee. It's a platform to explore the abilities of artists and crafts persons and sell the products to the public. Frequently well arranged shows and events provided by the support of the Govt.of Kerala Tourism Dept. A must visit tourist spot.

It was a nice place with lots of craft items on sale! Nothing much to see. They have a nice waterbody in the middle where there are a few birds that caught my eye and I found it more interesting than the craft village as is. They have interesting ideas, most of the items made are from natural objects while at the same time a lot more objects use plastic and pollutants. Hope they'll make it more nature suitable.

A beautifully planned village and a great initiative by the Kerala Government and ULCCS. The place is very clean and well maintained with spacious parking and nice walkways. There are many stalls supporting small businesses, local crafts, and cultural activities. A peaceful waterfront area and boating options make it relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel inside the project is also good, with rooms around ₹3000 per day. Toilets are clean, and the mess food is tasty too.

It is spread across 20 acres and was established in 2011 by the Kerala Tourism Department to promote and preserve Kerala’s traditional handicrafts and artisan skills. The village brings together artisans from more than 20 traditional villages across Kerala and other Indian states, creating a vibrant hub for craft-making, live demonstrations, workshops, and training. Visitors can witness and learn different crafts including pottery, weaving, bamboo, coir, palm leaf, coconut shell, wood carving, metal work, and more. The products are available for purchase, and the village also serves as a business platform for artisans. The Crafts Design and Technology development center offers training programs encouraging innovation among craftsmen.

Sargalaya arts &craft village in Iringal, near Vadakara town in the Kozhikode district of Kerala India. It was established by the tourism department - Govt of Kerala. The nearest railway stations are Vadakara ( 6.9 km ) and Iringal ( 2 km). nearest airports are kannur ( 51 km ) and Calicut international airport ( 69 km ). Annual Sargalaya international arts & craft festival is held here from 20 December to 5 January. The craft village also has peddling and rowing boat facility.

Decent spot in Wayanad with nice views from the lake. They have pedal boats, but cycling them is quite tiring and not very smooth. The place is okay, not the best. But still a relaxing break if you're nearby and want to enjoy some quiet time.

Went here without much expectations and there is nothing either, it's just a walk around the lake and if you are interested in some boating you can go here. Also we went during rainy season, there were lot of leeches every one has seen the blood.

Pookode Lake is a calm and refreshing spot. I visited today and loved how peaceful the whole place felt. The walkway around the lake is scenic, the water is clear, and the surrounding greenery makes it perfect for slowing down and just enjoying the moment. It’s a great place to sit by the lake, relax, and take in the view. There are a few activities like boating and small shops around, but the best part for me was simply the quiet atmosphere. Even with people around, it still feels serene. The place is clean and well maintained too. If you are in Wayanad and want some fresh air and a peaceful break, this is an easy recommendation.

Pookode Lake offers a serene and amazing experience. The pedal boat ride was good and lasted 20 minutes. The place is exceptionally clean, with good service, though the prices are a bit high. It is a fantastic and calm spot to visit.

A beautiful, picturesque lake that's a perfect spot for families with children. Just be aware that it gets extremely crowded on holidays and weekends, which means a very long wait for boating. We'd highly recommend visiting on a weekday to enjoy it peacefully.

Paying money fornthe park is a waste of since 80% of things in park is broken/not working. But we cannot do peddle boating or kayaking wothout paying to enter to the park which is waste of money. But peddle boating was worth of additional money spent. Great view.

Pookode Lake is an excellent stop for nature lovers, couples, and families. It offers a calm, refreshing break from typical tourist trails. While it isn't an all-day excursion, the couple of hours spent here boating, walking, and soaking up the tranquility are well worth the modest entry and boating fees. Just be sure to check the operating hours (generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) to ensure you have enough time to enjoy the boating facilities.

Lakkidi View Point is a must-stop when traveling through Thamarassery Churam. You get a stunning panoramic view of Wayanad’s valleys, winding roads, and mist-covered hills. Best to visit early morning or just before sunset for the most magical experience. Parking is limited, so stop carefully. Totally worth it if you’re passing by!

Stopped by Lakkidi View Point and the view honestly took my breath away. The misty hills, winding roads, and cool breeze make it one of the most scenic spots in Wayanad. You can just stand there and watch the clouds drift over the valley it’s pure calm. It’s easy to reach and best visited early morning or around sunset when the view looks magical. A must-visit stop if you’re exploring Wayanad! 🌄✨

It was an amazing experience. Could clealy see the hair pin curve roads, the beautiful mountains, clouds and ofcourse the fresh air. You have to be there by 6 - 6:30am latest to get the most of it and spend an hour around, click pics etc. After that the mountains will be covered by snow (Koda in local language). If you aee staying in a nearby hotel, get up early, go to this place, come back and then have your breakfast n stuff. You won't be able to see anything after 8 - 8:30 am. No entrance fee and have few parkings on one side of the road. Since we reached there early, there were only a few tourists thus got parking very easily.

Also you will be fined heavily we there are cops and ngo's patrolling to catch people in the act. A must visit place if you are in wayanad. You can see serpentine ghat roads hidden in lush green hills. Sometimes you can feel and see you are above the cloud. Vehicles 🚜 ply in this ghat roads looks like toys . Parking is a challenge. Be aware of monkeys. This viewpoint is located along a national highway, surrounded by greenery and offering a scenic experience that automobile riders are sure to enjoy! The view becomes absolutely stunning during sunset, making it a must-visit spot. This viewpoint is located right on the last hairpin bend of NH766 and is one of the most beautiful and easily accessible spots in Wayanad. It offers stunning panoramic views of the Western Ghats and breathtaking sunsets. There isn’t any dedicated parking space near the viewpoint. Visitors can park their vehicles near the entrance arch and walk down to the spot. Unfortunately, some people park on the hairpin curve, causing traffic issues on the busy road. The views from here are truly mesmerizing. You can see the lush green valleys below and the majestic Western Ghats stretching into the horizon. If you walk a bit further below to the next curve, you’ll be rewarded with a magical sunset experience. The mist-covered silhouette of the Western Ghats during the evening adds to the charm, making it a must-visit spot! Just before you reach the arch that welcomes you to Wayanad, you have this Lakkidi view point. Most people stop here to enjoy the view. You can see the top view of twists and turns of the ghat road. It’s best to see vehicles driving up at night as small dots of light. There is only a small space by the road side to park the vehicles. So make sure you don’t trouble other vehicles while parking here. Also beware of monkeys who could possibly steal your snacks.

This was my first trek in my life i was little nervous but i went with my fellow Hosteller they helped me to trek It was 2kms distance what they said but because of curves of paths it might be 5kms and it took us 1 hour but worth trekking we went in early morning around 5pm gathered and ate Maggie as a breakfast and started the trekking Worth trekking and it was so cool breeze and full of greenary and i drank the mountain water💧which was flowing by side and we went to heart shaped lake again i tasted those water it was cool and very clean most memorable day in my life It was a Misty day, we had a very good experience at this peak,nature is truly amazing.Now they have revised the price,now the price for trekking is 4000 bucks for 5 people. And 800 bucks for an extra person. If you are 1 or 5 you need to pay 4000 bucks. The trek itself is magnificent as we go through lush tea estates and a thick canopy,after passing this we enter a thick shola vegetation.The peak itself is closed to The public as we only get to go to the heart shape lake.special permission is required to go the peak. The forest department has kept the lake and the surroundings clean as there is no sign of plastic. Overall we had a very beautiful and amazing experience.

5 kM up and 5 kM down mountain trekking needs good strength but leaves a permanent great experience in your memory. We can see Elephant foot traces all along the trekking path and lemon grass all over the mountain. Once you reach top of the Chembra peak, you can enjoy great view of other adjacent mountain covered with moving clouds and heart lake.

Best trekking spot in wayanad and suitable for beginners. The trek is around 3Km and visitors are allowed to until heart shaped lake not to chembra peak which is highes point in wayanad due to safety concerns. Only 288 people are allowed per day. Please plan to reach this spot early in morning to get tickets especially on weekends. We reached this spot by 4.30am and got ticket. For a group of 5 people 4000 is the ticket price. Steel water bottles will be provided once you make payment for the ticket. And few shops are down there to have ur small breakfast. The chembra is known for the very famous heart shaped lake on top and breathtaking 360 view and challenging treks.

Nature at it's best, trekking for around 2 hrs for this beauty, wonderdul landscapes and stunning greenery. The place should be in every trekkers bucklist.

Chembra Peak trek is a must-do in Wayanad for adventure lovers. The trail is moderately challenging, surrounded by lush greenery, misty views, and the highlight Heart-shaped Lake, which feels magical. Beautiful place to visit. Waterfall is active throughout the year. However, the flow reduces during March-May. If you are going with elderly people ensure that they can go and return around 2 k.m. Don't carry plastic bottles and food items. You can park your vehicles at the top. They will allow only 500 persons per day. So you can consider to stay nearby areas to cover many other locations around the waterfall. Only upi/ digital transactions are allowed for buying tickets.

I visited this water falls which is like 1km trek to the fall. It is under government and they charge 150 per person. Please mind taking student tickets which is only 50 rs. This trek is somewhat difficult. You should take about 2 hours. It not that worth visiting but if you feel to trek you must visit. Paid parking and local shops available also you have options of some activities near by.

Soochipara Waterfalls in Wayanad is a scenic spot surrounded by lush greenery. The short trek to the falls is a bit challenging but totally worth it. The waterfall is stunning, perfect for nature lovers. Clean, well-maintained, and refreshing experience. Enjoyed the falls. But the tickets are pricey.

We recommend buying tickets online or arriving early. The ticket price is ₹150 per person, and entry is not permitted without a ticket. The waterfalls are open all 365 days, but during the rainy season, only viewing is allowed—entering the waterfalls is not permitted.

Soochipara Waterfalls is soo good with wonderful water flow from the top of hill. Negative part is trekking, to reach this waterfalls we have to walk nearly 1 Kilometre additionally large large steps 🪜 to be used. After reaching Waterfalls it is worthy.

We visited this waterfall based on the suggestion and google review, but this place is a big NO!!! The start entry point is like the tip of the mountain and the waterfall is like at the base of mountain that much walking is to be done, there is lots of walking with slope and climb through the stones path and followed by big steps at the end which is difficult to go on, it cost Rs.150/- pp which is too much for the waterfall, if you are not in mood of walk and trek, this place is to be avoided! The gate closes around 5pm, all the guards are vanished at 5pm, there is no one around if you need any help if you go for the waterfall post 4pm, it took half hour for us to go to the waterfall and return half hour, 1 hour in total which is ascend and descend, as we spent only 5mins near the waterfall, as it was raining muddy water was falling and it was brown color. Do think twice before going for this waterfall, if you are up for a trek with proper shoes and mindset then its good!!
