Great exhibition and building...never had expected this kind of museum here in this rural area. Great experience!

great place to spend a day off. Entrance to the gallery is free; a large number of sculpture exhibits are located on the street. Inside there is an interesting selection of art from various directions and periods, a lot of air and light. There is a cafe and toilets. There is also a second museum dedicated to technology. Again, a great place to enjoy a day off.

St. Michael's Church is a must-see attraction in Schwabisch Hall, located right in the city center with its impressive tower and spacious square. Visitors can climb the bell tower for stunning views of the city, but should be mindful of the loud bells. The church boasts incredible historical architecture and hosts live theatrical plays on its steps during the summer. It's a beautifully restored building that showcases a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles, with some chapels featuring Baroque decor.
St. Michael's...wow! What a beautiful church, inside and out. Make sure to climb the tower for amazing views of Schwabish Hall! They have live theatrical plays on the steps during Summer which is awesome. Great cultural learning.

medieval church from 1156 from romanesque to Gothic architecture. the building offers all. beautiful baroque side altars, tower visit, magnificent bell with a clock timing. large stairs with an open theater and amazing main altar. it is the main highlight of the town.
David A — Google review
Besides being a historical building with the greatest architecture, the staircase outside is used by the town as a stage for plays. Away from home and wanting to serve God with fellow worshippers, it was the most amazing sermon I have attended.
I B — Google review
Oh wow. Past amazing. Everything is so old! Be sure to go up the bell tower, just watch your times around the bells because it is loud!! The church is just amazing. Only downside is that very little is printed in English so if you're a tourist, be sure to use Google Translate

Max-Morlock-Stadion

Stadium
Sights & Landmarks
The Max-Morlock-Stadion is a football stadium in Nuremberg, Germany. It was venue for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The stadium has excellent public transport connections and is easy to reach each point of the city. The atmosphere inside the stadium is great despite its size from other stadiums I have been to. I would recommend going to a local match vs Dortmund if you're in the area.
Attended the Bundesliga 2 match Vs Hertha Berlin in October! I was blown away with the passion of both sets of fans! German football fans really are unique and proud of their teams no matter what! I managed to get seats next to the FC Nürnberg Ultras and they were fantastic throughout the whole match! What particularly amazed me how the stadium is located on the grounds of the former rally grounds & the amount of history you can explore before you attend a football match! I will hope to be back again some day!

Devil's Cave

Mentioned on

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Devil's Cave, also known as Teufelshohle, is a fascinating multi-chambered limestone cave with impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The cave earned its name from local folklore attributing the disappearance of livestock to the devil. Discovered in 1922, it revealed animal remains that had fallen into the cave. Visiting the cave involves navigating through different chambers with tight passageways and low ceilings, making it unsuitable for strollers or carrying infants.
Nice cave, a pleasant guided tour (in German). Inside the cave there are quite a few staircases, be ready you go up and downstairs quite a lot. We were there on a long weekend, it was quite crowded. You buy the ticket first and get a time slot to visit the cave. In our case slots were available in about 30 minutes. The tour lasts about 45 minutes.
Дамир Б — Google review
We did the 40 minute group tour and found it interesting and informative. It is cold and wet inside so appropriate clothing and footwear is a must. Also, be prepared for a long walk. There is paid parking outside the caves and the max duration to park is 2.5 hours. There is a café at the exit. It also sells a few souvenirs.
Padmini S — Google review
The best place to visit near Nuremberg, amazing atmosphere, Nature at its best, chilly inside the cave with a lot of stones made of water drops over the year and one was 2000 years old. The guided tour with the German and English language and the guide was super nice. The ticket price was just 9 euros for adult, it was around 45 mins of tour inside the cave. Once in a lifetime experience for me. Deutschland Ticket works there in Schmetterling Busses. What are you waiting for?
Rahul P — Google review
It's wonderful! I'd recommend a guided tour and warm clothes. Not for disabled people. Lots of stairs and tight on several parts of the way. Absolutely worth it. Dogs are allowed.
Sabine W — Google review
We visited on a Sunday, early afternoon. It wasn't overly crowded. The tour guide also spoke in English. It was worth the trip. It was a good experience. After exiting the cave, you can enjoy a nice refreshment at the cafe, go for a hike, or visit the coaster park (up the mountain). We were very pleased.
Jody R — Google review
Great fun and very unique cave! The audio- and visual effects inside were fun too - and the exit outside of the cave was almost magical! Really beautiful grassy and moss-covered rock formations and mountain cliffs. Beautiful sight, our kids had fun here!
Emil K — Google review
Love this cave tour however, they play the English language guided tour after the group moves on — kinda rude lol but overall, its a nice tour/hike.
Kayla L — Google review
This cave is a Nice place to visit. with Kalk Deposits for over 1000s of years this place is unique to see. Cannot use Kinderwagon, babies need to be carried. Some paths are very very narrow . Only guided tour as per slot (in German) . Parking in Automat. View after the tour was also amazing (autumn season) 9 euro ticket for adults. Will be very interesting for kids.

A visit to the Plassenburg is definitely a recommendation when visiting the upper part of the Franconian region. It is an impressive facility and the view is overwhelming. and the tin figure museum, well, if you like it, you can visit it too.

Nice castle, with a pleasant walkup through a sidehill park. My 81 year old Mom did it and liked the exercise, so it's no big deal, or you can take the bus, as parking at the top is limited. Free access to it's Renessance courtyard.

Wahnfried

Wahnfried is the former residence of the renowned composer Richard Wagner, now part of the Bayreuth Richard Wagner Museum. The museum focuses on Wagner's life, work, and legacy. It showcases detailed exhibits including his scripts, the opera house he built, and costumes from his works. Additionally, visitors can explore the place where Wagner lived and learn about his history and family.
Very impressed by the modern, well-balanced, elegant setup of this museum. A cool haven on a hot day. Take your time to sit down and listen to Wagner music while contemplating a subterranean zen garden. Admire intricate paper dioramas of opera decors.
Renee J — Google review
wagner's house. underground floor is a collection of books and original opera scripts and his signature. ground floor is the statues hall, the piano/library room and the dining/painting room. between floors theres the costumes cabinet and the opera cabinet. first floor is the life stages of wagner with collectibles and sculpture. the garden house is the extension to this house with large dining room and library room with documentaries played all the time.
David A — Google review
A museum dedicated to Richard Wagner, but you will learn only odd bits of information about him here. Perhaps there is an assumption that the people who visit are all Wagner devotees who know everything about him. It is worth seeing the rooms on the ground floor of the house, which have been restored to look as they did when Wagner lived there, but many items are covered up and unable to be seen. The upper floor which is supposed to describe his life is organised in a series of rooms, each of which deals with a certain period. Fine in principle, but there is no indication of where you should go to in what order. Some years appeared to be missing altogether. The actual content is scant - facsimiles of scores, copies of photos etc. Some limited information is given about Wagner on a sign in each room, but we are never told how he came to be given a house by the king of Bavaria. Or how he came to be so rich that he could have portraits and sculptures of himself and his family made by top artists, when for long periods of his life he had to move frequently because he was so poor. So much about him is left out. How was he able to build his own opera house? You won't find out here. The information on the main signs in each room is in both German and English, but the English is so poor (google translate?) that it is at times laughable. So many people come to Bayreuth for the Wagner Festival paying so much money - is it really too much to ask that some of that money could have been spent on having proper English translations? And don't bother with the audio guide. There's hardly anything on it.
Lynne M — Google review
A really in-depth museum that does great justice to Wagner! It did a good job of covering his life and gave lots of interesting insights to him and his family. Occasionally there was info only in German, and I wish there were English translations for all the info boards, but it’s still super enjoyable for a Wagner fan regardless of your language. I think the entry price is fair when compared to other museums I’ve visited around Europe so far. This was my favourite day of my Europe trip and I’m very glad I got to visit
Alice K — Google review
Great place to visit and learn more about Wagner. But ONLY if you're interested in Wagner. Basicly it's 3 museums. Wahnfried, where he lived is about where he lived and his life. Then the house next to it where his son Siegfried lived with his wife Winnifred, showing the darker side of the Wagner family history. Then there is the latest modern addition which houses an exhibition of custumes of the Wagner operas and temporary exhibitions. There is also a silent movie made for his 100th birthday. All in all very interesting and informative.
Michiel F — Google review
Enjoyed walking around Wagner's house, there was an English translation if you want one. One of the gentlemen who worked there gave me a mini personal tour in German, which was lovely. He also informed me that the Listz's house was next door. The coffee shop was good with some yummy cakes.
Matt T — Google review
Way above my anticipation! I was gonna visit the liszt museum but RWM was on the way, in the end this one trumpped Liszt museum from a non-German speaker, non-Wagner fan's viewpoint. To start with, impressive collections of costumes and opera set design down the -1 floor, with helpful staff who gave me an informative explanation when my tour guide stopped working. (sidenote: its a bit sad to see the conductor wall swarming with nothing but white men) The museum buildings have been renovated in recent years in a fancy but not extravagant way. And they have the most comfortable sofa seat of all the museums that Ive been. P4 is Wagner's study/workplace, what a view!

The Bayreuth Festival Theatre is a 19th-century venue with a grand stage specifically designed for the works of composer Richard Wagner. It hosts the annual Bayreuth Festival, a renowned opera celebration that attracts visitors from around the world. The city also offers a vibrant culinary scene, featuring traditional Bavarian eateries, trendy cafes, and craft beer breweries. Notable landmarks in Bayreuth include the Margrave's Opera House, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Bayreuther Festspielhaus is for all Opera enthusiasts and culture lovers. This place is worth a longer visit. Ofcourse especially for the Wagner Opera weeks in summer. It might just a bit tricky to get tickets, just be pacient. Here are also a few very disappointing things. First of all… parking is 10€ to be paid in cash (just be aware). Also you are not allowed to bring in bags bigger than a small handbag, also sitting pillows are not any longer allowed to bring in - you need to get them inside (if you are lucky). One last thing, a small Mineral Water (0,25l) is 5,50€. - Just a pity they take such an advantage out of their guests.

Had a nice stroll along the theater - located on a hill - and in the park in front of it. We didn't go inside, but from the outside, it does have a nice view!
Stefan H — Google review
Attending the Bayreuth Festival is an indelible experience for all Wagner fans and also for anyone who loves our is interested in Western culture. The productions can be uneven because of the German love of theatrical deconstructionism (Regietheater), but the music making and all the craziness surrounding the festival itself is truly something to be experienced at least once in one's life.
Carl E — Google review
Beautiful opera house with amazing acoustics. The only downside is the lack of translation of the libretto… I know, many would say: ‘that’s how Wagner left it’🥹 Summer 2025: Tristan and Isolde had fabulous musical performance and Meistersinger had beautiful staging.
Gabriel B — Google review
Really enjoyed my evening here. The sound in the opera hall is really great. With every seat sold the theater was really fully packed, but even though the place was so crowded, the politeness and hospitality of the attendees and the staffs at the various venues lent to a very enjoyable and stress-free evening. I would recommend anyone to attend this venue. I watched Tristan and Isolde, the Performances, the staging, and choreography especially between the orchestra and the singers was unmatched, as this is one of the most difficult operas to coordinate. It was excellently done and a pleasure to experience.
Swede S — Google review
Just got back from seeing the entire Ring Cycle last week. If you are lucky enough to get tickets, go without hesitation. We were sat in the mittleloge (bottom row of boxes) and had an excellent view of the stage despite being the back row because the rake is excellent. The seats were cushioned & very comfy (nothing like the "hard wooden" description I was expecting! The stalls seats are less padded though from appearance, but you can borrow cushions from the theatre if necessary). Yes the direction/set was a bit whacky (so if you're a purist this may not be your cup of tea), but the sound is like nothing else you'll ever experience - world class singers, world class orchestra, perfect balance (due to the orchestra being under the stage), could hear every word (not that I understood it but no matter if you know the story the acting and music will be enough). Tasty bratwurst for the intervals, no dress code (although a lot of people dress up, I'd say don't go in your jeans!). Excellent all round.

A Must-Visit in Bayreuth - Amazing and Classy Experience An amazing and classy experience! The best music and a great opera house with the best acoustics. Bayreuth is a must-visit at least once in a lifetime. And the festival - don’t miss this experience if you have the chance!
Razvan D — Google review
I have waited more than 10 years for tickets to the Wagner Festspiel, and it was well worth the wait. I was concerned that the opera house does not have AC and the seats are uncomfortable, but it really was quite bearable. The dress is formal, and the audience remained still as a mouse for the entire two and a half hours of the performance of Das Rheingod that I saw. There are no surtitles so you need to do your homework. The singing is world-class and the orchestra perfect in all regards. The sound from the Wagner orchestra pit lives up to all the hype. The orchestra, including the brass, can play at full volume, but they never cover the singers, and every word can be understood. Amazing! A word about the Bayreuth productions, they have been described as avant guard. They certainly may not be to everyone's taste, but it is, after all, part of the Festspiel "experience." If you are fortunate to get tickets to this unique venue, give it a try. There is nothing else like it in the world.

I visited on a rainy Friday morning and walked virtually alone through the vast gardens, awestruck with the beauty of man, nature and time. Among the highlights are striking allees flanked by hornbeam hedges, some quite mature. Beautiful walks, water features, flower plantings, mature tree specimens, linden promenades. Meticulously cultivated and worthy, worthy, worthy of your time.

The outside green field and garden are beautiful and free. But you must go into the palace. It is a hidden gem.

A beauty. Once must visit. Really nice guides and palace. But visit during June July months to get entry into more rooms of the palace
Aparna U — Google review
You need to get tickets for the tour of the castle and the tour is 1h long, but really worth it. The lady, who was our tour guide was excellent. She really transported us back in time while telling us the important stories of the palace. The 1 hour flew by. The palace is not like your usual palace, but it feels more like a residence / home with hidden secrets. I definately recommend booking a tour (we had the tour in German). It is also not that expensive.

"City glasses"

Wonderful stone old bridge crossing the river. Right by the cathedral so nice to walk along the river and admire its architecture…
Alex B — Google review
Perched gracefully over the Vils River, the Stadtbrille—literally “City Glasses”—is a late-medieval water gate and part of Amberg’s historic city fortifications. Constructed between the late 14th and early 15th century (first recorded in 1454 as the “passage over the Vils”), it spans about 46 m across the river. What makes it magical is its two semicircular arches, which—paired with their bright reflections in the Vils—form the appearance of giant spectacles hovering on the water. It connects the former Electoral Palace (Kurfürstliches Schloss) on one bank with the old armory (“Zeughaus”) on the other. In the late 1500s, additional towers and stacked upper floors were built by court architect Hans Hauck. These were removed in 1698, giving the Stadtbrille its current elegant silhouette. Uniquely, this water gate is considered the “fifth city gate”, complementing the city’s wall gates. A third central arch—long forgotten—was rediscovered and reopened in 1996 during restoration efforts. A photogenic gem, especially at night when illuminated—perfect for that iconic “glasses” reflection shot alongside St. Martin’s Basilica.

(Translated by Google) If you walk through the city glasses in Amberg, you'll enter the old town. It consists of three arches. However, the river Vils flows through only two arches. Above the arches is a kind of wall with beautiful windows. There's also a roof above the wall. Between the arches is an angular vault. Definitely worth seeing.

Therme Bad Steben

Thermal baths
Outdoor Activities
Nestled in the serene heart of the forest, Therme Bad Steben is a captivating spa destination that beautifully marries traditional architecture with modern amenities. This enchanting retreat features both indoor and outdoor thermally heated pools, complemented by an array of saunas and floatation tanks designed for ultimate relaxation. The mineral springs that nourish the sauna have been cherished for their healing properties since the 1400s, adding a rich historical layer to your wellness experience.
This is a really, really nice therme. Lots of activities. What stands out are the beautiful surroundings with exquisite flower arrangements. Whoever does the gardening is worth praise. The restaurant is also much better than most therme establishments and serves both classics (fries, schnitzels ,currywurst, fries) and more contemporary food like salads and vegetarian dishes.

History meets modern in this stylish and versatile thermal bath. Great place to relax.
Mark H — Google review
These are my favourite therms! We come here at least once a year even though we live more than 3 hours away. Pros: + There are different attractions for the whole day + Beach feeling (sand room with sunset light, room to lye in shallow water watching a movie of waves + cave with floating salt water - all in the dome) + it's very quiet, you can really relax here, it's never too full, even during school holidays. Even when they have Aquagymnastik, you hardly notice it because the music is low, not annoyingly loud Techno like in other therms. You can always find free chairs and even an empty pool now and then. + Children are allowed inside the wellness dome which is great for families (and it's still quiet) + Occasionally (rarely) there are floating toys and/or noodles for the kids to play with in the vital pool (although unfortunately we only saw that 2 times out of our many visits). + In the summer you can enter the Freibad (Public outdoor pool) for free with slides and pools for toddlers and kids. + On top of the main indoor pool there is a quiet area with a small couch, good to nurse and sleep with a baby. This quiet room is also the quietest area of the therms for a nap + For those who like cold water, the main indoor pool temperature is cool enough to swim in (my husband says it could be a bit colder but it's fine, my son doesn't find it cold, for me it's too cold 😅) and in the dome there is a cold water foot path. + For those wearing crutches, most pools have a place to put the crutches before entering the pool and the toilets have a holding bar and a hook to hang your robe. Cons: - There aren't really children's pools in the therms but there are a few places where kids over 90 cm can stand. - before you enter the public pool, you need to go to the register at the entrance of the therms and pay what is due on your bracelet which is quite annoying - There aren't family changing rooms. Right next to the entrance there is a group changing room that has a diaper changing table (of course you risk someone opening the door while you're naked but in all these years it never happened to us fortunately 🙏). - There are also no family showers but next to most pools there are open mixed showers where the whole family can shower together although out in the open. We usually use the one next to the vital pool because it's a bit less in the public eye and we bathe with our swimsuits on. - 95% of the time we went to the restaurant, the woman at the register (different ones) were very very unfriendly (sometimes even rude) - expensive therms - we spend around 140€ for 2 adults and 1 child for 1 day including food (for comparison in Erding 250€, Rottal-Inn 80€) I recommend these therms to everyone who wants a relaxing day (even with kids 😉)

On saturday July 9th i was looking forward to getting Therapy from the couples package at your spa. Unfortunately it wasnt worth the 150 euros my wife spend. Im an soldier and my job is very strenuous an i have a bad back an also had the hopes in having some stress an muscle tension released during my massage. I and my wife were caught off guard when we didnt get full body massages for the price we paid but the woman who gave us the massages only rubbed our backs. I have to say ive paid about 50 Euro less for much better services.

Leuchtenburg

Museum
Historical landmark
Medieval hilltop fortress featuring a porcelain museum & sweeping views of the countryside.
Leuchtenburg Castle is absolutely stunning! We attended a wedding here, and it was truly a magical experience. The medieval atmosphere is breathtaking, and exploring the castle feels like stepping back in time. One of the highlights was the unique plate-throwing area – such a fun tradition for good luck! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. And to top it all off, we partied until 11 right in the church – how cool is that?! Highly recommend this place for a memorable event or just to soak up the history and beauty
J.R A — Google review
Thank you for this wonderful experience! Many castles we have seen, but in this case, this is one of the few examples, a successful collaboration. Art (porcelain museum) and history (castle and its reconstruction). Compact but at the same time filled with interesting details at every point). Special mention should be made of the weather, which allowed us to walk around the neighborhood, take wonderful photos, relax and warm up! Views and surroundings!
Ivan G — Google review
In the village there are no parking places, but at the entry there is a paid one and then a free one. You have to walk up a bit. The view is nice. The exhibitions inside are wonderful , especially the porcelain one and the one in the tower.
SVC — Google review
15euro tickets per person. But you really get a good deal in my opinion. You get to visit inside the castle, see the porcelaine museum, throw your own plates with wishes on it, visit the tower, if you are lucky hear the organ player. There was a lot to do for the little ones as well as for adults. There are small fppd stands for cakes, waffles and bratwurst. You really have a nice view from here as well.
Kharuna R — Google review
Great castle with an interesting history. The porcelain exhibit is highly recommend. They guide you through the whole history of porcelain in an interesting and entertaining way. Was really fun to toss the dishes as well. You should definitively take your time to see the tour. More over the castle looks very nice and kept in good condition.

It's a beautiful castle, with great views of the surrounding area. Enough information everywhere to make walking through the castle interesting. I recommend going there by car. The foot paths going to the castle are neglected. Not to be recommended for young children and elderly people. It's a steep hike.
Haitse W — Google review
Wonderful place, big and impressive. Many informations about the castle everywhere, especially the old cruel "tools" of the medieval time (torture) were a highlight. In the modern building is an interesting exhibition, it's worth a walk.

Bring your offroad shoes, you will have 20 mins hiking on some mud roads. Beautiful rocks, and nice path. Ticket is 6€, and parking is 3€ for cars. Definitely I will come here with my family, and will spend 2 hours minimum.
Jafar S — Google review
It's always amazing rock labyrinth for me... I always love to come and enjoy the nature.
LJ F — Google review
Second time visiting here and going through the labyrinth. Many tight spaces between rocks that you have to squeeze your way though, but nothing overly difficult. Can be a bit muddy in some of the narrow areas after it rains, so might be best to avoid going if it recently rained a lot. The main trail is easily doable in under 2hrs, however there are some cool side trails leading to outlooks and structures that are worth doing. Overall a cool experience.
Matthias F — Google review
You need to pay to park and pay an entrance fee, but I think it’s worth it. Gorgeous hiking trails and unexpected rock crevices. The rock formations are very cool. Would recommend hiking shoes / good sneakers.
Alexandra H — Google review
We visited with our kids (13 & 11) who loved exploring the area by themselves. There are two main routes through - one up, and one down. We were there on a quiet day, but still felt as if we were trying to find our own space and pace on the routes. I imagine when it’s busier that it may feel a little rushed. I don’t recommend doing the route if you’re not able to squeeze through small spaces or remain bent down to get through rocky tunnels. Good grippy shoes recommended. A few benches to stop and admire the surroundings and some great views from the elevated lookout spots. The car park is large and there’s a cafeteria style place at the entrance/exit for something to eat and drink. Recommended if you want to exercise the kids and give them some natural adventure time.
Ruth K — Google review
Cool place for hikers of all ages... bring water because the course is pretty long...
Kenneth H — Google review
Amazing place. Beautiful to trees and huge stones. Liked it a lot. On some spots you have to squeeze yourselves through some narrow spots between the stones. That's something to keep in mind though. But that made it more fun for us also... Time wise, it takes about 1,5 to 2 hours to get through completely ...

Národní přírodní rezervace SOOS

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Natural park with a museum & dinosaur exhibits as well as a timeless landscape of peat bogs.
Wonderful piece of nature. Easy to do walkaround in 1 hour. If you read all the signs probably 2 to 3 hrs. The bubbling earth is most enjoyable and the sulfur smells. Like Iceland in miniature for beginners.

Interesting park! Soos Nature Reserve A nature reserve, curiosity and European rarity in one! The Soos National Nature Reserve lies not far from Františkové Lázně. The vast peat bogs with lakes, mineral springs and gaseous carbon dioxide springs are reminiscent of a prehistoric landscape. The most interesting places include a nature trail that leads directly above the bogs along meandering wooden walkways. You can see a natural geological park, a museum dedicated to the local nature, the history of the Earth and an exhibition of life-size models of prehistoric animals. It also shows the flora and fauna endemic to this species due to the specific geological conditions of the soil and subsoil.

The Museum of Glass MOSER in Karlovy Vary is a celebration of the city's rich glassmaking heritage. As part of the renowned Moser glassworks, this museum showcases over 2,000 exquisite examples of glass craftsmanship that have contributed to the company's global reputation. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, witness live glassblowing demonstrations at the factory, and even purchase these beautiful creations.
Coolest thing ever seeing how they blow glass in person. There was no one else in our tour group so it was basically in private tour through the area showing and explaining to us how they create glass. Also tour guide spoke prefect English so it was easy for us to understand.
Reven S — Google review
We took a guided tour through the glassworks. We were shown how glass is blown in general, not more than that -- ain't anything special. How crystal is cut, how it is gilded and finished, getting its final magnificent look - this all is behind the scene, not included in a guided tour. The impression is spoiled by safety measures at the glassworks - workers work with liquid glass wearing worn-out open-toed shoes, wearing their dirtiest pants and tshirts that have long since served their time in the garage or garden. No hint of work uniform or modern protection gear, and while the guide assured that there are no accidents at the factory, one worker had his forearm in bandages.
Valery G — Google review
The guide was excellent (speaking great English). The tour took us through the factory and on to the museum. Leaving you free to browse the retail outlet if you were interested.
Richard S — Google review
We went on the English tour and it was fascinating! We got to see the workers blowing and shaping hot glass into a vase. Our guide was great, offering interesting explanations to our group of 15. The tour ended with a 15-minute video about the interesting history of the Moser family. Highly recommend!

The Moser Museum where you must to visit when you come to Karlovy Vary. Because Czech is very famous about the full-color glass with cup, toy, collection,... But the price is very high for buying one cup. You can study and explore the process of creating glass, it's great for everyone and kids.
Tuấn T — Google review
The museum is small but beautiful and the glass works are real peaces of beauty. You can find free parking at the place, the cafe has a very nice design and the the museum provides an audio guide explaining the history and the works of art at the place After the museum you can find the glass shop where you can find beutiful glasses and vases for a bit of high price but the quality is amazing
Tom K — Google review
A visit to the Moser museum glass factory is well worth the trip. Although the factory is small, we had an english speaking tour guide who explained every aspect of the process in detail. The tour ended in the shop where you could buy various items handmade in the factory. They were quite expensive, however, after seeing that every piece is handmade it is understandable why.
Georgina A — Google review
"I had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Glass MOSER and was truly impressed by the beauty and craftsmanship on display. I was struck by the stunning architecture of the museum building, which was once a glassworks. The exhibits inside were equally impressive, with a wide range of glass objects on display, ranging from delicate figurines to intricate vases. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Museum of Glass MOSER. Whether you're a fan of glass art or just looking for a unique and interesting museum experience, you won't be disappointed. The museum's beautiful setting and impressive collection make it a must-see destination for anyone in the area."

The Diana Observation Tower, also known as the Dianaturm, is a 35-meter-tall tetragonal brick structure built in 1914. It offers breathtaking views of Karlovy Vary and its surroundings, with visibility extending up to 70 kilometers on clear days. Visitors can reach the tower by taking well-marked trails from the town center or enjoying a short funicular railway ride.
Diana Observation Tower is a great spot for panoramic views over Karlovy Vary. You can either hike up or take the funicular, which runs (at least in summer) every 15 minutes. Funicular is located right next to the Grandhotel Pupp. Once you reach the top, the tower is just a few steps away. There’s even an elevator inside, so you don’t need to climb the stairs—especially nice on a hot day. From the top, you get stunning views of the city and the surrounding forest. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town! 🗼

A must-visit place for anyone coming to Karlovy Vary!

Beautiful 360 degree view of the region. There's also a small, budget-friendly kiosk selling street food and drinks in front of the tower. If you don't have any serious limitations, I suggest getting a one-way ticket. Take the funicular up and walk down while enjoying the view. Observation tower itself is free. The Mill Colonnade is a grand structure in Karlovy Vary, boasting a Neo-Renaissance design and housing five hot springs. Situated near the Tepla River, it's considered one of the town's most architecturally significant landmarks. This twin-aisled walkway features 124 columns and hosts free concerts by the Spa Orchestra. Visitors can sample the mineral waters from the five springs along the colonnade, each labeled with its temperature and mineral content.
Out of all the colonnades and hot springs in Karlovy Vary, this one was my favorite. The Mill Colonnade is truly beautiful—especially from the outside, with its grand columns, palm trees, and the lovely street that runs alongside it. It feels like something out of a postcard. ⛲️ Inside, you’ll find several mineral springs, including some of the most well-known ones like the Mlýnský pramen (Mill Spring). The colonnade has a timeless elegance that makes it a must-visit spot on the spa walk.

Great place to visit and relax while drinking spring-water. On the vacation season there are classic music concerts going on in the afternoons. Totally worth going in the day and night, and it’s also safe to go alone, while there was no strange activity even if that is an ald city centre.

Absolutely beautiful placeThe Mill Colonnade is one of the highlights of Karlovy Vary elegant architecture, peaceful surroundings, and a true symbol of the city's spa culture. We loved walking through the colonnade, sipping the mineral waters from the different springs (each with its own taste and temperature). The atmosphere is calming, and the sculptures representing the months of the year add a lovely artistic touch. It’s amazing how you can feel the history all around you. Definitely a must-visit when you're in Karlovy Vary!

.There are a number of colonnade Buy a special cup before, it has the list of all the springs. You don't have to do all of them... The last one is in the museum and underground tour building. Must buy tickets for the underground tour.

Impressive building, with toilet. We didn't take the water though. There were many stalls along the road selling the special mugs to drink the warm water.

Vřídelní kolonáda, also known as the Sprudl Colonnade, is a concrete structure built above natural hot springs in Karlovy Vary. The best-known spring, Vridlo, is the hottest at 72°C and shoots water up to 12 meters high at a pressure that releases 2000 liters per minute. This geyser and four other springs can be sampled for free inside the functionalist building from the 70s.
A beautiful city, the place is very special. Of course, you can't heal or strengthen your health from a single visit to these springs, but the experience of feeling and connection when I walk from spring to spring and taste the water that important people from all over Western and Eastern Europe drank, for hundreds of years, this experience is very special. You don't have to taste all the springs, but you can ask people which springs are best to taste in order to get an impression. I also bought the famous glass with a straw on which all the springs of the place are written. And now this glass stands in a vase as a memory of my visit to this special place
Elisha L — Google review
The Hot Spring Colonnade is home to Vřídlo—the hottest and most famous spring in Karlovy Vary, and usually the first stop on the town’s "spa trail." The water here reaches an impressive 74.4°C and shoots up as a powerful geyser inside the glass building. ⛲️ While the spring itself is fascinating, I’m giving it 4 stars mainly because of the building’s heavy, almost communist-era vibe—something a few other visitors have also pointed out. That said, it’s still a must-see. You can also learn some interesting facts inside—like how the local mineral water is used to produce unique stone souvenirs by letting minerals slowly solidify over time. Definitely worth a quick visit as part of your spa town experience!

A fascinating spot to discover in Karlovy Vary! This landmark is not only part of the city’s rich history but also one of its highlights. The hottest spring reaches 72°C, shooting up to nearly 10 meters high. Built in the 19th century with a filtration system, the water here can be safely enjoyed straight from the source. It’s an experience you shouldn’t miss – just remember to bring a cup!

Kind of small shopping mall with hot spring fountain/geyser but manmade ? Not so sure The water from spring is hot and a bit frizzy with limestone and natural mineral. Refreshing Local vendors selling jewellery and ceramics Good place for hot summer

Narrow-gauge railway with winding rides on steam locomotives offering valley & mountain vistas.
Lovely Harry Potter style railway to go skiing, a must to do if you're around
Luis G — Google review
It is always a nice experience to ride the small gauge railway from Cranzahl to Oberwiesenthal. It doesn’t matter if it’s spring, summer, autumn or winter, the landscape and environment is always in eye catcher. There is an open carriage for the summer, be early became the train can be quite busy.
Lutz G — Google review
A simple ride on train can be so special when you are here, the train it's a special one and everything is so beautiful around. You park the car near the train station and go with the train up and down the mountain. The views are stunning. Try it and you will not regret it. It costs like 10 euro or more depending on how far you wanna go.
Da S — Google review
The scenery is amazing, just €15.8 for return ticket, each way takes about an hour. We didn’t plan enough time to hike around the forest, it must be nice to see the train from the different view. A must visit place for train lovers 😆

Fantastic steam railway in a quiet corner of Saxony. Very atmospheric and lovingly restored and run by it's staff. Thoroughly enjoyable day out in gorgeous scenery. Highly recommended.

Very very nice activity. Worth for a visit with famil and mainly kids. Staffs are very friendly , helpful and speaks English very well. The trains are very good and the conductor explains also about the steam locomotive on questioning. When you are sitting in the openwagon prepare yourself for cold weather and coal dust from the steam locomotive. My review is based on summer experience. Guest card reductions were not accepted here. Tickets can be bought in the Kiosk with card or cash . Parking is a little far away from the station.

The Industriemuseum Chemnitz is housed in the former foundry hall of the Hermann und Alfred Escher AG tool factory, which dates back to 1895. The museum offers a comprehensive exhibition on Saxony's industrial heritage, showcasing the evolution of various industries from the 18th century to the present day. Visitors can explore displays featuring lathes, machine tools, steam engines, and rare metals.
A magnificent and very interesting museum dedicated to the development of industry in Germany and in Chemnitz in particular. It will be interesting for both children and adults. In my opinion, there are a few minor issues with the museum. Firstly, most of the information materials are only available in German, with only some of them translated into English and no other languages available. Secondly, the museum has a somewhat chaotic layout, with individual sections not really connected to each other. Thirdly, some of the exhibits, which were intended to be interactive, were broken or unavailable for use. However, this did not spoil my overall impression of the museum.
Sergei U — Google review
Reccomand going-in in overall interest in industry rather than cars, trains and similar sort of stuff since that is like 1/3 of the museum, rest being given to electronics, machining industry and sewing industry. I'd like to see more car industry present in future. I do not reccomand going in on sunday since the local caffee is closed. The souvenir shop has interesting stuff being sold there with a lot of Karl Marx merch which is eh.
RasmetTv — Google review
A fascinating museum tracing the industrial development of Germany. In particularly it shows the role played in developing machine tools to speed up production. There are some great examples and also a huge working steam piston engine. One of the exhibits is a mummified man from the 1860s. He was a victim of an industrial accident when he fell into a tar pit. A bit grisly.
Joan S — Google review
This is an excellent museum and a must-visit for anyone interested in German industrial heritage. The collection of machinery, especially the working steam engine, is truly impressive and a testament to the region's nickname, "Saxon Manchester." The building itself—a restored former foundry—is beautiful and adds to the authentic atmosphere. The exhibits are well-chosen, covering everything from historic textiles and machine tools to classic vehicles. We loved seeing the development of technology over two centuries. My reason for four stars instead of five: While the main artifacts speak for themselves, most of the detailed information and wall panels are solely in German. There are some English translations, but they are sparse and it really limits the experience for non-German speakers. Also, a few of the interactive displays were broken or unavailable during our visit. Overall: Highly recommended for the quality of the exhibits, but international visitors should be prepared to use a translation app or book a guided tour to get the full story. Great museum for adults and older children!
Julian S — Google review
A very interesting museum showing how Chemnitz and Saxony have a long and important history in engineering and industry. A fine collection of exhibits charting the development from steam engines to modern 3D printing. One highlight is the hall of electric lighting!

Colditz Castle

Huge, 1000-year-old hilltop castle displaying artifacts from its famed role as a WWII POW camp.
This place is a real gem. Even if you are not a WWII enthusiast, you will appreciate the museum and its attention to detail. A tablet device given with a virtual replay of various escape attempts and characters, as well as the history of the building itself. It is well worth the €10 charge and you can have a guided tour as well. Excellent visitor experience 👏
Lisa R — Google review
As museums go this one is very special. Whilst most of us just know of the PoW side of the castle's history, there's more to it. Accordingly it is not right to focus on one aspect of the history and the way to get around that is very impressive. We spent three hours exploring and the time flew by. Lots of interactive guidance and it is all quite fascinating. We also stayed in the castle's hostel, which was very clean, good value and provided 1/2 board food.
Mark W — Google review
Excellent museum and entrance is only 10 euro per person. You walk around on your own and are equipped with handheld table/histopad and scan codes all around. As you go along you collect items so it was interesting also for the teenager. The castle is big but doesn't have much furniture or anything. There are lots of stories about escapes from the castle and it makes it really interesting.
Jakob H — Google review
It takes a bit of effort to get here - we took train and bus - but, it is well worth it. The castle and museum, including the virtual tour are just excellent. We were fascinated by the stories and virtual presentation is first class. It was not too busy and the town itself has some nice character and a few places for lunch. Add this fascinating place to your itinerary if you can!
Da S — Google review
Excellent place to visit. Loads to see. Spent over 2hrs going around the castle and the time flew by. The Histopad is brillinat in bringing the history of the place to life. Great for general history or spcifically on WW2. Highly recommended.
Mike R — Google review
Unique place regarding its history - mainly all the PoW escape attempts during WWII. You walk around with an interactive tablet which gives you tons of information about the place and the daring, fascinating escapes. You get to see how it looked like then, and what they really did, from tunnels, through hidden passages in walls, to a glider built in the attic. Must see, definitely. The interactive tablet works really great, they put a lot of effort into the details. There is of course much more to the history of the castle than the brief WWII period, and you get to learn that as well. They kept the decor minimalistic but it works very well, you see how the place was changed and redecorated over centuries, e.g. doors being painted 18 times over 500 years. You park for free just outside the castle, there are maybe 70 spaces. If full then look around the market square, it's just a few mins away on foot. There should be less people if you start when they open at 10am. It takes anywhere between 2 and 4 hours depending on how much you want to read/learn/listen to, and it's very engaging. There are also free toilets.
Pawel M — Google review
The castle offers 2 tours, 1 with a tablet where you scan a point and can view a room as it was during ww2, or as the original castle, 2nd option is the Extended Tour, here a guide takes you around places around the castle where the escapes were tried and succeeded. Together about 4 hours of interesting and informative information and history. Our guide was excellent keeping to schedule but answering all questions. The castle was always more than a ww2 prison but our visit met all our expectations. I'd recommend the extended tour, but you need to plan ahead and book for one in your language. One thing missing- a cafe
Rian G — Google review
We were totally blessed with an almost empty Colditz Castle, Making the atmosphere inside unreal It's hard to think over 300 prisoners tried to escape this place with 31 succeeding. We didn't go in the museum simply because it's not dog friendly but however you can tour quite a lot of the castle including a couple of art installations. Needless to say if your ever touring through Germany put it on the list you won't be disappointed

The Karl-Marx-Monument in Chemnitz is an impressive bronze sculpture of Karl Marx's head, surrounded by a stone wall adorned with multilingual quotes. This cultural landmark is located between the major cities of Leipzig and Dresden, making it easily accessible for travelers interested in history. The monument is a significant piece of history that symbolizes an entire epoch, and there are few similar pieces left in the world.
At the start of this week, we had the holiday in Bayern so while returning back I spent some time in Chemnitz. This is one of unique Monument which I have visited so far in my Europe trip. Due to its uniqueness, I clicked a lot of selfies, apologies for that. This place is near to the Main Street and also you can find the tram stations near to this Monument. I will recommend to visit this place :)
Adeel M — Google review
A monument in memory of one of the people who have laid the foundations of politics or political ideologies that remain a guide till today. You would have read about Marxism in college and know a few about communism but revisiting these knowledge by visiting a monument laid for one of such that fought against capitalism gives a different perspective. It is Ok to conclude that Karl influenced societies even until today! Great historical place to be and the giant head figure makes you small when you want to take a picture underneath!!

This imposing bust dominates the centre of Chemnitz. The city of Chemnitz is located just between two major cities of Lepzig and Dresden, just one hour away by train or car. If you are a history fan, you should definitely make a stop there if you are traveling in the region. These kind of history pieces define the whole epoch and they are fewer of them left. This particular piece is so epic.

Vast park with bird, reptile & mammal enclosures, plus a reconstructed farmhouse complex.
Very pleasantly surprised when visited. It is very apparent that a lot of effort (and money) has been put into this project. I can nothing but recommend this zoo for a family day out! It has a lot of slides and playgrounds to keep the little ones happy, great selection of animals and plenty of places to have a snack (make sure you pack something with you if you’re vegan as there are no vegan/healthy options). The whole zoo is a smoke free zone, which I personally love! You can park for free at the Kamencove lake and then walk 5 min to the zoo or there is a parking just right by for a cost of 60CZK (cca €2.50) per day which was packed when we arrived. The only downside I found is that the zoo closes at 6PM which I found a bit too early for summer months.
Nikol Z — Google review
It's not the worst zoo that you will visit in Czechia (the one in Tabor is horrible), but it could use a bit of improvement. Entry price is reasonable, and the first thing you can experience is the meduzarium with different types of jellyfishes. Seeing animals is hit & miss as they may choose to hide because of hot weather. There are a few eating spots in the park but the prices are incredibly HIGH! Would recommend bringing your own to save money on food & drinks. They have a farm section where you can get up-close with animals and touch them (mountain goats, guinea pigs, chickens, peacock, ponies etc). All in all, not a bad zoo.

Great zoo and it is enormous. It's a little off the beaten path for most travelers, but we had an extra day. The zoo is well laid out and has a good assortment of animals and activities for kids. The food is good and we ate at the restaurant on premise. The zoo is clean, and they have a very hands-on farm animals area that's great for little ones. I think we spent an hour feeding sheep with the hay the zoo provides. It was overall a very nice day at the zoo. The bears are also very cool, as are the red pandas.

I love this place - have been there many times. Excellent exhibit for those that like rocks, guided tours in several languages, easy to follow and always learning something new! The halls are full of beautiful displays which are carefully curated, lit up and taken care of. Not sure good for toddlers, they would likely be bored, at least I would not spend more than an hour there with them (on my own, though, different story). Gift shop is a must, prices are super reasonable!

This is by far the best mineral museum I've ever seen. The specimens you can find are of the utmost quality, and in huge quantities Some kind of lab at third floor is only available on the weekend but I don't think it's important The shop also doesn't have only the usual souvenirs but also precious minerals like Rutile and native gold The ticket is 5€ + an optional fee of 3€ to take photos

This is the best museum I have ever visited in Germany. They are thoughtfully planning each activity and exhibition. The activity are suitable for family visit, kids will love here. But I will suggest add more English contents, since some chemical elements and mineral contents are difficult to understand in German, and We didn't buy "take a photo" right, so we can't take our phones out for translation.

Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen GmbH, located at Talstrasse 9, is a historic castle factory that showcases porcelain from 1710 to the present. Visitors can witness the centuries-old process of making Meissen china using traditional designs on a self-guided tour lasting between 30 and 60 minutes. The manufactory also offers pre-recorded audio devices in multiple languages for an immersive experience.
A really lovely and modern building, which feels very light and airy. Our tour guide was excellent, providing great facts and stories. Well worth the visit, which is a 30 minute train ride from Dresden, and then a 10 minute walk from the train station. Tip: The cafe was surprisingly good! You have the option of indoor or outdoor seating.

The presentation is a little bit lacking, but otherwise is ok and the museum is amazing. The porcelains came from very different periods and this is why so beauty the collection. Good work for presentation and the kahle is the best.

The Meissen porcelain manufactory is a very interesting place for those who love beautiful tableware, beautiful trinkets and are interested in crafts. You can go to the store and the museum at any time when the manufactory is open. But I strongly recommend purchasing tickets with a demonstration of the production process; it is better to buy them in advance for a tour in a language suitable for you. However, there is an English audioguide, it allows you to take advantage of the German excursion. I advise to visit a local cafe, where you will have the opportunity to dine on original Meissen porcelain. As a compliment we get there especial cookies with manufacture symbol.

Sights & Landmarks
Meissen Cathedral, a grand Gothic structure built between 1260 and 1410, is a stunning example of medieval architecture. Adjacent to the castle, it features intricate sculptures and steeples added in 1909. The cathedral's exterior showcases impressive polychrome statues of Holy Roman Emperor Otto and Adelaide of Burgundy, while its interior boasts a Protestant pulpit. Visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of Meissen from the hill where the cathedral is located.
A stunning cathedral with a rich German history. We really enjoyed our visit. It is 6 euros to enter, but worth the visit.

Meissen Cathedral sure worth a visit. You have to pay a little to enter, but in this case it is justified: in the cathedral situated also a museum with interesting relics, as well as the tomb of the Saxon rulers with detailed explanations, including English. I advise to climb to the cathedral by feet through the old town, you will be rewarded with amazing views and interesting objects. The observation deck of the cathedral itself is also a must-see

Fantastic cathedral. Entry has a small charge. However it is well worth it. It's a great and interesting cathedral and also has a wonderful small museum. There are joint tickets for this the castle and porcelain factory if you are going to do them all.

Astonishing cathedral with a rich history and beautiful relics. Costs 4 euro to enter. Quiet and almost spooky due to the old imagery and ancient history. Highly recommend to visit while in meissen. Bathrooms are hidden so ask if needed.

Blissful. Quite. Beauty. Have to visit this place for it's beautiful Hill top location and a city which contributes to the most produced high end porcelain items.

Last entrance is at 16. Beware. The cathedral is great, but we got denied entry because we needed to somehow telepathically learn that on this day the cathedral is open for visitors only till 16 instead of 18. We bought a ticket for what is free in other cities, so we expected better conditions
