Dating back to the 13th century, this castle is impressive and has a unique architectural character compared with other castles. Several sections have been carefully restored, while others are intentionally kept as ruins, which adds to its atmosphere. You can visit a fascinating pharmacy laboratory museum inside, though access to the other interior areas is unfortunately restricted. The grounds include an enormous garden and provide breathtaking views of the city. Entrance fee is 11,00 € for adults. Walking through the castle and soaking up its centuries-old history was an unforgettable experience.

Very beautiful view over the whole city including the hills, the river, and a breathtaking sunset in the horizon. The garden is sooo big and “instagrammable” with many spots for selfies and photos. The castle is not big but has a beautiful winery, restaurant, small museum, beautiful facade, but most importantly an amazing high terrace overlooking the city. The tickets include a ride on the cable tramway taking you all the way to the tip of the mountain. A beautiful ride and nice view.

This castle truly has a mystic vibe to it! The red-brick theme, and the fact that its in ruins but still very well maintained adds to its appeal. Highly recommend visiting in fall/autumn as it looks super aesthetic with the green-yellow-red-brown leaves all around the magnificent castle! We didn't go inside but just taking a stroll around it and outside was super beautiful and makes for a good outing in Heidelberg!

Visiting Heidelberg Castle felt like stepping into a storybook. The walk up is a bit steep, but completely worth it for the stunning views over the city and the Neckar River. The castle itself has a beautiful mix of grandeur and ruin, which gives it so much character and history. I especially enjoyed wandering through the gardens and taking in the scenery. My recommendation is to take your time and just enjoy the atmosphere as well as to go before the sunset. Highly recommended!

Highly Recommend 👌👌👌 Heidelberg Castle is absolutely worth a visit! The views over the city and river are breathtaking, and the mix of old architecture and history makes it special. Don’t miss the giant wine barrel or the Pharmacy Museum. Go at sunset for amazing photos. The only problem is parking especially on the weekends, this place is crowded with visitors.

A lovely walking path up the side of a hill that overlooks Heidelberg's old town. It is steep in parts as it winds up the hill but with places to stop along v the way to admire the view, it's not difficult. The views are worth the walk.

A beautiful trail with absolutely stunning panoramic views over Heidelberg and the Neckar River – perfect for photos of the old town and castle. Parking at Parkhaus Nordbrückenkopf (P16) cost me €7.50 for 3 hours, which felt a bit pricey, but honestly it was worth every cent. There’s also a small kiosk along the way, which is convenient for a quick refreshment. Highly recommended if you want to experience Heidelberg from above.

I was a guest in the hotel but can not recommend staying here, while the location is excellent, there is little sense of hospitality. When we arrived we asked if we could get a table for dinner. We were told they were all booked out. We did not find anything else we liked in the area, and we had our eyes on the pepper steak on the menu here so we tried our luck again at the restaurant. There was a table free outside, which said it had been reserved for 19h but at this point it was well past 20h and the table was still empty. We said we were guests at the hotel and we were promptly told we can not be seated at the table. We ended up ordering food elsewhere and sitting on the bench in the square, to eat on our lap. The entire time, the table at the Goldener Engel stayed EMPTY. Very inhospitable!!! The rooms are clean and spacious, few extras not even water. Breakfast was sparse if you could even get to it - unfortunately it's tucked into a tiny corner and there's room for one person at a time. Not an ideal stay. I expect more welcoming service from a hotel really! very unfortunate.

We called in our desperate need Hotel Goldener Engel, explained our situation (no Tesla Destination charger in the nearby booked Michel Hotel, while google said it was), if we please could charge a few % (we said we wanted to pay ofcourse) but the Goldener Engel Hotel said no: it was only allowed if we booked a room. While we walked around, with our two tired little children, to look for help from anybody, we saw outside that the Tesla charger at the Goldener Engel Hotel wasn't used at this moment.

Incredible experience! It went way beyond my expectations. I didn’t think there would be this much to see. My main reason for going was the Buran and Apollo exhibits, but I ended up really enjoying the other sections too. There are dozens of cars, motorcycles, and airplanes on display. You also get to see flown items from Apollo, Gemini, Shuttle, and ISS missions. Capsule parachutes, Shuttle parts, astronaut gear, and even a Moon rock from Apollo 15… Such an amazing collection. The Lunar Module looks almost exactly like the real thing, and the lunar suits are just as impressive. Absolutely a must-visit!

Amazing display of land, water, air and space vehicles. I did not expect the huge collection of well-displayed artifacts that allowed up cloce inspection. The Lufthansa 747 is mounted high in the air, can be seen from a distance, and still allows interior visits. Worth a special trip.

That was the best museum that I've ever seen. Fossils, ancient Egypt, Knight armours, various minerals and stones, amazing tiffany glass examples, stunning old jewelleries, ancient Rome miniatures and more... It was absolutely amazing. 3 floors took my 3 hours and I could've stay even more.

It is a huge museum having 7-8 sections ranging from science, arts to history. The hardwork of workers in preserving the biological samples is admirable. You can come with kids to give them a good insights into different subjects. It is fantastic museum.

Excellent natural history museum with interesting mineralogical and zoological collections in addition to a range of works of art from both the ancient and modern world. In my opinion the heart of the museum is in the collection of fossils from the nearby Messel site, as they are incredibly well prepared and presented.

A surprisingly fulfilling museum with interesting exhibits in all areas ranging from art and history to the natural world. Be sure to reserve a good three or more hours for this place if you want to get round everything, as it has a vast collection - especially of art. The Max Liebermann exhibition was on when I visited. This was one of the best parts and was a well put together exhibition with interesting pieces. Most of the descriptions of the pieces are in German but this didn't reduce any of the entertainment for me. One kind employee even had a nice chat with me about the permanent collection. Entry is cheap and discounted for students so I undoubtedly recommend a visit as I believe it's one of the most interesting places to visit in Darmstadt!

We came for the art deco section and especially the jewelry part. This is the best display of jewelry I have ever seen. And the rest of the museum is also excellent. Beautiful pieces and excellently displayed. A must see for everyone. Very helpful security, especially in the art deco section where we were pointed towards the available drawers with even more jewelry.

Unfortunately, I found the prices to be more main shop, rather than outlet: in full blown Sale season I could easily find the same prices online for the items of interest which begs the question - why even bother to waste fuel and drive there? Very few entrntaining coffee / restaurations spots, nor activities...

Nice retail outlet but mainly centred around clothing. Would have been nicer to see discount electrical or maybe that is something the people around Rœschwoog and Baden Baden don’t want to see? We stopped off at the burger restaurant which was very tasty, but there was such a choice of food that we would happily go back to try some of the others as well. To say how full the car park was, inside the centre we never felt crowded, and didn’t really have any queueing to do in the shops. Overall a nice experience and good way to spend an afternoon if the weather isn’t up to scratch.

The area is pleasant and can easily serve as a great place to hang out, even if you’re not planning to buy anything. It gets quite busy during the sales periods, but that’s also when you might come across some excellent deals. Certain shops stand out for their variety and prices — Intrend (essentially MaxMara) is particularly notable and probably the largest store in the area. The food options are also impressive, with enough variety that you really can’t go wrong with any choice. All in all, it’s a nice destination and well worth the drive from Strasbourg for a relaxing day out. 4 stars because of the parking as sometimes you can spend some time to find a spot.

Every area is very detailed and since being built around 1120 it has been maintained and kept in impeccable shape. I would suggest seeing this church. At just under an area covering nearly four acres this is purportedly the oldest Jewish Cemetery in Europe and holds UNESCO World Heritage Status. In a nature setting abundant with trees and lush long grass, many graves with Hebrew epitaphed lichen encrusted headstones blend alongside more recent elaborate similarly time worn obelisks. The cemetery suffered vandal damage during the pogroms of 1615 and 1618. Although not in use since 1911 a final interment took place in 1940, ironically during the Nazi Holocaust. This is a site conducive to deep spiritual reflection in recognition of the Jewish presence in Worms since the 10th century. Whilst visiting, gentlemen are required to wear a head covering in accordance with Jewish tradition.

Beautiful cathedral. Lovely garden area as you come in. I was in a bit of a hurry so I was not able to figure out how to climb the tower but I hope I can come back sometime and try. Crypt was neat to see. Fun murals of gospel scenes above the clerestory level along the nave. Some interesting sid chapels to include one of the more vibrant colored crucifixion paintings I've seen in a cathedral.

I really like the cathedral — it’s even more beautiful than the one in Speyer. I adore the red stones and the many towers. It’s so happily situated within the rest of the city. I felt very happy in these surroundings.

The cathedral is beautiful. I came here on a Thursday afternoon and there was no wait at all and there was minimal people inside. Be careful if there is a service happening and be respectful of the space if so. There is a museum but I didn't go inside there. The architecture in the cathedral is worth the visit to come see. Be aware that as of may 2025 there is major construction happening on the outside of the cathedral so it is covered in scaffolding. Its free to enter the church but donations are welcome. Be prepared to translate most of the signage if you do not speak German. There is a wheelchair ramp going into the main section of the cathedral and the main cathedral floor is flat but all of the side rooms and passageways have steps and are not handicap accessible.

Hidden gem of Mainz! I have been outside in the church cloistered courtyard, which is relatively small but very beautiful and picturesque, many times, however this was my first time inside the church and I was really impressed. I had no idea there was such a beautiful church in Mainz! This place is known for its unique stained-glass windows in luminous blue that were created by Marc Chagall. The light coming through the windows was absolutely stunning and created an almost unreal ambience, I felt like being under water. I have never seen such beautiful lighting in any church I have visited (visited mid-day with clear skies, so nothing was blocking the sun beams to enter the church). I also enjoyed the beautiful modern Organs near the chancel with the altar. There is a little gift shop inside, where you can buy souvenirs like postcards, books and magnets mainly with the blue window theme. Church is wheel-chair accessible and there is no entrance fee. Totally recommend to visit this church as pictures don't really do justice, you must see it with your own eyes to have the full experience. Visited in May 2022.

Beautiful church has many Marc Chagall stain glass. On the negative side, watch you step a member of our party missed the small steps and was carted off to the hospital. Church staff could of cared less. We had to get her there on our own.

A very good printed demonstration, from the making of the letters to the final printed page, both in English and German with a replica of the printing machine. Negative: A very unhelpful large and seated guardian next to the interactive picture box, most interested in moving people along than in helping with the experience.

You are given a card that lets you activate some of the exhibits, and at the end you can print your photo in the style of block printing onto the card. There is a demonstration of printing and the presenter gave interesting facts and was very knowledgeable.

Awesome experience of the Gutenberg museum and in excellent opportunity to see one of the Gutenberg Bibles. Actually four of them. It's absolutely amazing that these were the first books printed by the Gutenberg press. A worthwhile experience to visit this historic place. Highly recommend visiting the Gutenberg museum and seeing the original Gutenberg Bible. They are absolutely priceless books as every single one of the 47 of them are different because they were sold as separate pages and made into books by the buyers after they purchase them which we understand is the price of a home to purchase the pages back when they were newly off the press

It's a small museum but very well done. When I visited in Nov 2025 they had the word "Moved" in the name to emphasize that it's final location is under renovation and it is just temporarily adjacent to the natural history museum. Indeed I almost wandered into the natural history museum trying to find it. The first room had a 3D table of Mainz and narrated a story of his life (both in English and German). Indeed in spite of what some past reviews said, the museum seems to have stepped up their game and most descriptions were in both German and English. The main attraction, the two original Bibles we're well displayed and surprisingly uncrowded. I was able to go back two and study them.

1.5 hours was NOT enough. Didn't get to the demonstrations upstairs. (I visited the "Moved!" version in June 2025.) Anyone in graphic design, journalism or communications will appreciate the overarching themes and attention to detail. The Bibles themselves, and the additional works displayed alongside them, were presented very well and in an interesting manner.

The Gutenberg Museum is a fascinating and well-worthwhile visit. While I was a bit confused by the natural history aspect, I soon discovered that the main exhibition is temporarily located inside the Natural History Museum—a detail that, once understood, didn't detract from the experience at all. My primary interest was learning more about Johannes Gutenberg, and the museum did an excellent job of that. The exhibits are fantastic, especially the chance to see some of the first printed bibles up close. I also appreciated the use of modern technology to make the history more relatable, particularly the fun machine that lets you create a selfie with a printed page. My only regret is that I didn't get to see a demonstration of the printing press in action. Overall, it's a great experience and excellent value for money.

Valuable experience! The museum is really interesting: it’s a collection of ancient manuscripts, the first original examples of a few books (including the famous Bible 42), interactive news / videos and a display of objects related to the printing machine. You can even see how the printing process was developed in a practical “workshop”. Only one suggestion: if possible add English subtitles to the short films and try to make the demonstration of the printing press also in English (at least once).

Slightly expensive but worth it if you spend all day. The park is well maintained. Plenty of services. Parking is free. Great picnic spots. Excellent family time, especially with kids (2-13 year olds)

It is a great place for children. There is not a very large variety of games, but the children had a lot of fun there. The place is not overcrowded this way, the waiting lines are not long.

Interesting castle ruins. For the kids there is a fun adventure leading through the woods to the castle with a story and assignmenta that include a slide, climbing, bouncy nets, making music and cool figures hidden in the woods. Accessible with a dog (mention you have a large dog when buying tickets).

Very neat castle with great views. The walk to the castle is rather easy, but walking around the castle would be difficult if you have mobility issues. The cost to get in was only 5 euro and the food at the cafe was great. I highly recommend visiting this castle.

Excellent place to visit! Kid and family friendly—this is a place you’ll be sad you missed if you’re visiting the area. There’s ample parking for whatever sized vehicle you’ve got. My minivan had no problems. From there, it’s a short hike to the welcome center—tickets, souvenirs, sitting area, and cafe. Fair priced and quick service! Then, you either go on the kid’s challenge trail OR head directly to the ruins. Visiting the ruins is included in the cost of the kids challenge trail. For my family of 5 (with a 4, 6, and 8 year old), we did the kids challenge trail. It engages the kids as the parents get to soak in the views, and it teaches everyone the history of the area. This ends up taking you on a nature hike thru the woods, and up to the actual ruins. The ruins are amazing—you can feel the history, and are granted some spectacular views. My kids loved it, and my wife and I noted how easy it was to get there, spend a day, and never think twice about much. It’s about an hour and a half from the Kaiserslautern area. The staff speaks German, French, and a fair bit of English. 100% recommend this place!

Very nice visitors center and cafeteria... Very cool ruined Schloss with an interesting history. Had a neat set up for the kids, an interactive tour from one section of the ruins to the next. Ruins are part of a large Forrest preserve with hiking trails that lead to several other castles. 👌

What a place. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon with one other adult and my three kids ages 5,3, and 1.5 years. I wore the baby and the other two walked (with some shoulder riding from parking lot for the 3yo). We entered the parking lot at the first entrance, not realizing (or stopping to read the sign) that you can drive all the way to the end of it and be a few minutes walk closer to the trail entrance. Once at the end of the parking lot, or after the sharp turn in the road after the beginning of the lot, you’ll see a trail in the woods that runs parallel to the road (which is at this point restricted to buses or staff only). The trail took us about 10 minutes and has some cool stuff about mining to see along the way. It might have been stroller accessible for an offroading stroller, but we didn’t bring one as there is no way to use it in the castle. Once you get to the information center, you’re in a small little courtyard of sorts, with the ticket and gift shop on the left, a restaurant at the far end, a kids feature on the right (an additional fee that we didn’t purchase), and bathrooms at the entrance on the right. We purchased tickets for us adults as the kids were free (€10 total I believe) and set off to the castle, which took another 5-10 minutes of walking. Once you’re at the castle, there are tons of staircases, both paved and uneven stony ones, in and out of the castle, to explore. It feels like you could get lost in such a good way, with secret staircases and little rooms hidden off the side of halls and stairs. There are fun stories for the kids to follow about someone named Hugo discovering the ruins, and they do a great job with sighs explaining what areas were used for and images showing how it might have been used. The best part of the castle, though, is the top, where it feels like you’re in a castle in the sky. Mind blowing to thing of how they made this castle so long ago, so high on this rock formation. The views are spectacular, even if all you see is forest and other rock formations. There are apparently a few other castles in the area, presumably on a hiking route, but we didn’t have enough time or energy to continue explaining. After the castle, we had ice cream at the cafe and bought toys for the kids at the store (I was pleasantly surprised at the prices). Most of the food was pre prepared quiches and wurst and whatnot which we didn’t want. Overall, this was an amazing afternoon trip that took about 2-3 hours total, for us with about 20 minutes of walking in shade on a forest path with tons of stair climbing once in the castle, for a very reasonable price for adults.

The list was good, in the fact that it got you up to a view point with amazing views. But don't bother going to the fort. The exhibits are all in german, you can get a downloaded audio guide to your phone bug you need to remember you ear phones if you want to use inside. Outside you can use it around the fort but it is short. I also struggled to understand why a historical building included a casino, numerous pubs and a youth hostel, was just the most bizarre historical monument site I have been too.

Have visited Koblenz several times but first time to experience the cable car. Had limited time, sadly insufficient to take the castle tour but great views of the city and the confluece of its two impressive rivers. With atypical Germanic efficiency, access & egress to/from the cable car stations is easy & safe for all ages & abilities. Good value for money, would hope to return one day & to do it justice!

This was great fun! Glide over the vineyards in a 2 person gondola. You get nice views of the town, vineyard, and the river. Very relaxing. When at the top of the mountain, there is a huge memorial statue, and sweeping views of the area. There is also a small café where you can get a snack or very light lunch and enjoy the outdoors. We did see people walking down, through the vineyards. If you have time, it looked like fun.

What a fab few hours. Obviously if your afraid of heights you might want to go, but it's very safe and worth going. The monument at the top is massive and breath taking. Worth the trip on its own. You can bike or walk up there, but I personally wouldn't recommend it. It's over 200meter up there.

Ride a cable car, a ski lift and a boat ride too in a beautiful part of the wine growing region in Germany. What wonderful views!

Awesome way to see the vineyards behind rudesheim, and get some great pictures of the rhine and multiple small towns on either side of the rhine.

A private museum with great and unique collection of mechanical musical Instruments. A what is great that is not just exhibition, you receive a 45 minute guided tour, where you you get to know and to hear different instruments. Guides know at least 4 different languages, what is very rare also. The museum was worth every cent I paid. Just be ready that tours start every hour, so you might need to wait a bit.

Best museum I have been to in a long time. I wanted to see all of them play but understandably from a time perspective that just isnt possible. It truly is sad that we have lost so much of that beautiful craftmanship. The building itself is beautiful. The tour guides were very friendly. All in all I would honestly love to return if I am ever in the area again.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. The guide was informative and fun and the history of these incredible contraptions was fascinating. The tour was fast paced and well done.

A small but fascinating museum. I did the guided tour as a group. A vast array of mechanical musical instruments which show how ingenious humans can be when we out out minds to something positive.

A friend of mine recommended Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet Museum, even though they visited almost 20 years ago. I'm so glad I took their advice! The tour guide was absolutely superb—not only were they genuinely funny, expertly switching between German and English, but they were also incredibly knowledgeable and even good on the piano! Their passion for the collection really made the experience. It's a very niche experience, but I'm still scratching my head wondering how all those instruments play themselves with such precision. For the price, it's great value for money and well worth the experience. I highly recommend it!

What a brfilliant museum. We hjad a tour to ourselves and the museum staff allowed us to store our cases in a locked room. We had a good tour around of a number of different rooms containg lots of instruments and ouir guide gave us information about certain machines and demonstrated them. All of them were interesting and fascinating. It was so good to see so many working machines, some huge, some tiny and all producing wonerful music.There are also some very old wall and ceiling paintings in some of the rooms. Even though the tour is only 45 minutes it was good value for money

Wow! The museum not only has a vast selection of player pianos, but player orchestras, too. And much, much more. I learned a lot during our tour. The building itself is a former grand home and is beautiful in its own right. Definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful cable car ride from Rudesheim, views of vineyards and surrounding countryside, very peaceful but a bit chilly in the wind. A short walk to the monument, bit of a hill, but worth it. Amazing views of the Rhine and all around, the monument is massive, really impressive and the history (to read on placards) is very interesting. Nice little outdoor takeaway for drinks and snacks, note.. you pay a deposit for proper cups. Restaurant as well but didn't use it. A place well worth seeing!!

We had a good tour up here, we got the ring tickets which included cable car through the vineyard , chairlift and boat back. The view at the monument is beautiful totally worth it and the hike through the forest to the chairlift is good too.

Impressive monument, fun to ride the gondola up there. There is a little restaurant up there. Impressive views! It's worth going up to see. If the weather is good, it is a nice day. We had poor weather so we didn't stay long. You can ride the gondola down (keep your ticket) or walk down through the vineyards.

Lovely views up here, was on a Rhine tour up through here on the way back to Frankfurt. Amazing views on a blue sky day. One of the best views to end a day

We visited on a weekend in summer holidays. Took Cable Car to top of the hill. Waiting was around 45 mins. There is also a hiking path. You can either buy cable cat tickets one way or for round trip. Hike trial takes around 90 mins One can also directly visit the spot by car. To enjoy the view cable car is more recommended.

The Citadel of Bitche is an impressive sight perched above the quiet town in northeastern France. With its massive stone walls and commanding views, it tells the story of a town that has withstood centuries of conflict. Though less famous than other French fortresses like the Citadel of Carcassonne, Bitche still offers a solid, if more understated, experience for history lovers. Unlike Carcassonne, which is packed with shops, medieval streets, and a castle-like atmosphere, Bitche’s citadel leans more toward a focused historical visit. There’s a multimedia experience inside that takes you through the sieges and military importance of the site, and it’s well done; perhaps not as extensive or immersive as some might expect. Facilities are modest but convenient. There’s a small gift shop and a café for a snack or coffee after your visit, and parking is no problem at all. There’s plenty of space, including designated spots for camper vans, making it a great stop for road trippers exploring the region. While it may not be a full-day destination like some of France’s better-known citadels, the Citadel of Bitche has a unique, quiet charm. It’s a worthwhile detour if you’re nearby and interested in military history or off-the-beaten-path landmarks. Just come with measured expectations and you’ll find a well-preserved monument with stunning views and a dose of French history without the crowds.

Interesting history inside, but particularly loved the garden of peace outside (additional entrance fee of 3 Euros) which was a joy to be in on a sunny day.

Nice stop while camping nearby. There is a tour with audio option available which is roughly two hours. Fantastic structure.

I would like to give it four stars or more because it really was thrilling. However, it was scary and the woman at the ticket office did not help me very much It was so long of walk up on slippery cobblestones so be careful. I was a bit afraid of slipping, because I am older. Also, the fort is huge and you walk through rooms in the dark fortunately, there is another room and another room. When I got to the end a woman made me a good panini. But be careful if you ask for a glass of water and your French isn’t good. She offered. L’eau de Mirable which is a Schnapps!

A remarkable place. On a fine and clear day you can enjoy fantastic views from up there, even as far as the Black forest in Germany. The war-torn history of the citadel can be relived during a tour of the interior, with various episodes presented on film in various rooms within the citadel. Headphones for the tour are available in several languages.

Citadel was cool to see. The audio tour was kind of disappointing - it’s more of walking while watching a movie. There’s no background given so unless you know the history it can be confusing. The grounds are nice - we finished the tour too late so we were unable to check out the gift shop or cafe.

I wish the guide was more interested in the tour he gives us. Sorry I was disappointed. Expected more stories historie than facts I could read on the panels.

It's nice, but it's COLD. Make sure to pack an extra jacket or a sweater. Do not underestimate it, it's like being in a really big freezer. The tour is quite nice though, it's really in depth! There are some stairs which you need to conquer but I think they also have a wheelchair accessible route! Would recommend.

Well preserved bunker with many exhibits and details. Unfortunately the guide spoke only French, so we didn't receive enough information. Maybe audioguides or signs in english could save the situation. The excursion is long, be ready to walk a lot, as well as cold temperature inside all year around, so better to take a coat.

From the people running the visitor centre to the guys conducting the tour, it was excellent. The walk up to the entrance is quite arduous for us oldies and then you have to walk down wet stairs, to get to the tunnels. The tour takes quite a while and is a fair bit of walking. Loud noises abound as some of the ventilation and engines still work, and they are demonstrated! Super interesting, a unique experience. The English tour was at 1500, French and German language tours are also available.

Amazing glimpse into the Magniot Line fortifications - the bunker system is incredibly well preserved and huge in scope! The 3 hour tour is great value at 12 euros, although if you want it in English you have to book ahead (I jumped on a German tour but knowing some WW2 background helped me understand most of it through context). Bring something to keep you or kids warm as it's about 9 Celsius in the bunker and you quickly chill! Info in English is essentially nonexistent, but to see some of the above-ground structures and tank/infantry defences you'll need to follow the red and green trails (no charge). I just drove slightly north and parked on the E85 road which has easier access - you can't miss the tank defences! All-in-all a great attraction and great value - I highly recommended the tour.

Amazing.

An absolutely brilliant experience for the whole family. We loved every minute of the 3.5 km trail. The variety is incredible – from soft grass to challenging stones, and of course, the famous clay pit which was so much fun! The final river crossing is a great, refreshing finish. Highly recommended for a unique day out.

A really fun experience! The park is really well kept and there is such a great variation of things to do. You go through mud, cold water and can even Wade through the river. You walk over lots of surfaces like rocks, sand and corks. And there are lots of playground - style activities. The whole family would have lots of fun here - it only costs €4 per person. My favorite part was definitely the boat across the river that your partner has to control from the shore.

This is a very nice riverside walking path that is mixture of foot sensation, obstacle course, nature education, and playground. Easily the most well designed, well maintained barefoot pad I've seen (And it's 30+ years old!) I used Google maps to direct us to this exact pin, and found clear signs for parking (large, free, paved, partially shaded lot) and then while walking, signs and Google led us through a small tunnel to the kasse, where I purchased tickets for myself and children (5 euro for adults, 3 for kids 4+ years, free for younger than 4); there was no line on this week day September 2022 afternoon. Before we entered the park, we had a snack in front of the park entrance at one of the several picnic benches, where there are also clean indoor bathrooms and bicycle parking stations. Once you enter the grounds, there is a foot washing station, lockers to rent for a 1 euro coin (which I did, and left our shoes, our snacks since I didn't know there would be picnic benches along the route), and free open cubbies if all you need to leave are your shoes. I wore the two year old, while the other two walked. You enter the path by diving in to the mud path, which is by far the best mud pack I've seen, about 1 foot deep of pure mud and muddy water, with globs of mud sifting between your toes - it was wonderful. The rest of the path is less messy, mostly different walking textures and some water features, and lots of balance beams and obstacles. The nicest surprise was the opportunity to wade through the Nahe river, which I was unfortunately unable to do as I my kids were too small. It appeared to get quite deep (knee to waist high, I'd guess), but there are two cables running across for you to hold onto to keep your balance; if you don't feel like wading across the river, there is a wooden bridge just ahead that will bring you across to rest of the path. If I remember correctly you don't miss anything by taking the shortcut provided by wading across the river (rather than the bridge) except perhaps one informational sign that was just slightly different from the rest on the path, I've posted it it in this review. The playground stations are near the end of the path, which is good because that is when my 4yo had just begun complaining. The path is indeed 3.5 km but thankfully quite flat, but VERY sunny with very few shady opportunities. It is basically a big loop, but since both directions hug the river, it feels like an out-and-back, just 50 meters apart There are many benches and picking tables throughout the course. There is a food kiosk at the end, with tables to sit, relax, and enjoy wine, beer, ice cream, or pretzels after your journey 😊. They do take cards, though it didn't work today. The path was not very crowded at all on this particular day; we never had to wait for anyone else getting stuck behind them. Bring water with or without food and hats/sunscreen if sunny, and wear clothes that you can get wet up to your knees/waist in (or a change of clothes!).

This was a fun day out however we went on a very hot day and the ground was burning our feet and some of the items were too hot to stand on. Not enough water stops to cool feet, definitely don't recommend on hot days or if your feet are sensitive as some of the water crossings were rough and hurt plus paths stoney.

A different experience for sure. Not quite what I thought I was getting myself into, but we enjoyed our afternoon. The mud pit at the beginning has quite the off putting smell, so be prepared for that. Pretty views along the walk, & we got lucky because there was a band playing today that we got to enjoy along with our beer & bretzels.

I have never experienced a barefoot park, so I was beyond excited to try it. I love how it jumps right into the clay path, as soon as you begin. The obstacles were fun and my kids were loving it. That is until my son had a piece of mulch cut his foot at the playground and I stepped on a twig that had an endless amounts of thorns on it. We continued on the path to get back to the front desk, where they had no first aid kit or bandages. I wish the mulch was substituted with something else, maybe sand for an example. The twig incident is beyond their control, clearly just bad luck on my behalf. You can walk on the grass, instead of the mulch which is what we did for a lot of the path. At the end of the course, they have snack and drink bars, and a fountain to wash up before you leave. This was like a one and done experience for my family and I. Cool experience but never again bare foot. Maybe with water shoes it would have been amazing!

"Barfuß" means "Bare foot", so as the name suggests, this is a bare foot experience where one has to walk without shoes or slippers on a walk path of around 3 km. This walk path had different parts like a part where one has to wade through around 30cm deep mud puddle, there were parts with pebble, sand and wooden Chips to walk upon. It also had different obstacles to cross like zig-zag plank, hanging logs, small wooden pillars, etc. The best part for me to wade through a knee deep river stream (off course there was two parallel ropes to hold by both hands and walk). Flat paths were covered with grass as well as stones and bricks. It was all together a different experience and exposure of feet to different surface in a short walk. For some, it could be boring, for some painful, but for some unique and exciting. I liked some parts like mud (although it was bit stinky and pebbles down felt like piercing my sole), sand pit, fresh water stream and some obstacles, but didn't like pebbles and wooden Chips parts because they were hurting more than having fun. There is a Bier Garden at the starting point of the walking path (which also is the end of it) where you can find very limited items (mainly snacks and drinks) in the menu list. There is a wonderful Public pool cum Aqua Park (Frei- und Erlebnisbad "Am Rosenberg") very near to it. One can plan the visit their combined with Barfuß to enjoy the whole day.

It was enjoyable to see the church. So impressive that it is built into the rock. We were bummed to find out that the opening hours that are listed on Google are only in conjunction with having tickets for a tour. There is a nice trail to walk up above the church to look at the ruins.

Just an amazing view. You can visit the church by a guided tour only. Our guide Mr. Becker was great - we were alone with him in the church which was a very special experience.

Its a stair climb to get here but a really beautiful little Church. Has an interesting history and has a myth about 2 brothers and why it was built. It has a spring in it to. Worth the time to check it out.

Amazing church carved directly into the rock face. A bit of a walk to get to it. A small spring is inside. Interesting story behind this church. Beautiful view from inside and above. Castle ruin nearby. No parking at the church but plenty in the village. Well worth the trip if you are in the area.

Was stationed near there in the U.S. Army in 1970 thru 1972. It was a very historic town. Lots of German history.

After buying the entrance ticket, the kids received a small stone..this was so friendly of the receptionist. So much beauty and awe at one place. Learnt so much about agate and gemstone. After the visit to the museum, we passed by the gift shop and bought some souvenirs. The visit was totally worth it!

A good museum with 3 floors of gemstones. The pieces are well described and there are some unique gems too. There are 2 different puzzle tracks for kids. Those make the visit for them more interesting. There is one with finding numbers and one with finding letters. Both were a bit challenging for a 6 year old. They have a Audio Guide that you can download but a QR- code at the entrance would promote it more

We truly enjoyed this beautiful museum and the variety and wealth of gemstones they had on display. The variety and variance was stunning, we couldn't get over how beautiful some of the stones were. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we definitely recommend a visit!

This museum was one of the most beautiful I have seen. There was a lot to learn about how they carved all the stones and gems and who invented it. There are really beautiful stones and statues of creatures (as you can see in the pictures). The employees are very nice and helped you if needed. There are a lot of cool things you can buy in the store! This is a really good place to go if you love stones, gems and statues!

My daughter brought stones home in here pockets as a kid. So, even being in her 40's she loved the museum! It has some amazing gem work and historical facts on the gem business of the region.

We felt very welcome, the lady provided a good explanation of their wines and we had the chance to do some tasting, we bought some amazing bottles. Our dogs were welcome too!

Did a great little wine tasting as part of a Viking cruise. The host gave a great history of the winery and the tasting cellar was a great ambiance for a tasting. We tried some of the best wines, and they threw in a red they have been playing with that was actually pretty good. I think they will get there with the reds with further development. We just had a little palate cleansing bread and stuff for our tasting, but they have food and the menu looked pretty good to me. Didnot have time to go back for a full meal, but per our guide their food was very good. A nice small quaint winery, and I would recommend worth a stop in to check it out in a classically beautiful Germanic medieval architecture

We were welcomed by Monika, a kind lady who knows her wine! She gave us tastings of their Trockens, as we prefer the dry rheislings. It was a lovely visit and we were happy to buy a few bottles.

My wife and I were welcomed for a complete and engaging tasting of more that seven of their excellent wines, all of them Rieslings, and each unique. An education in top Rieslings.

Scenic beautiful castle on the top of a hill by the river just like in a fairytale. You only can visit inside the castle following a guided tour, you can buy the ticket at the souvernir shop at the gate. I'm very grateful that this castle is dog friendly so we all can join the tour together. The tour is about 45 minutes and in German, the tour guide handed out printed script for other languages before the tour started, but you can always ask him question in English. The castle was built in 11th century but was destroyed, then rebuilt in 19th century in Neo-Gothic style. The interior is Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque style with many interesting decorations stuffs. The tour guide told some interesting about languages, why we call something as it is. The view from the castle is magnificent

Delightful, Incredible views. Enjoyable food in restaurant, but extremely busy. Recommend going on the tour inside the castle. A Lovely well-spoken young lady and most fascinating and spectacular views and history of the castle. A Absolute must for any tourist.

Wonderful mix of history and culture. It is truly beautiful! The only downside is that there’s no parking on-site — you have to park about 10–15 minutes away. It was quite a challenge with young children because of the long walk.

We visited the castle on a Sunday, it wasn't crowded. We parked the car (at our own risk) at the school below the castle. We paid 10€ for the castle tour ticket and waited 15 minutes for the guided tour. An interesting day, full of historical information.

Love this place. I visited in the month of October , fall season added to the beauty of this place. The promenade and shops around it make the experience lively and full of warmth. In the market town you can have a taste of seasonal Federwein/ Federweißer and other forms were also available.Took guided tour to the castle which is not so far from the bahnhof (train station). There is also option to hike to the castle or go by bus.

A Nice place to visit with friends. I was new in this place but I can find my way easily with the help of google map, or just go with the flow where people are heading. You can walk to the castle or you can ride the local bus. There is also a restaurant near the base of the castle where I order an Eisschokolade which is very delicious.

One of my favourite castles and a must if you are near Koblenz. The tour is amazing, The views from the top are spectacular. Just love the history of this one. Highly recommend.

Let's start out with I had high hopes for this place. It was highly recommended and we drove two hours to visit it. Upon arrival we had roughly 30 minutes to see everything due to them closing and us running into traffi. We were greeted by an individual who didn't even say hello just a what do you want we are closing. We tried to talk a bit regarding the mustard and process and asked if we could try some. After giving a long sigh he allowed us to try some of the flavors before us choosing. Now for the mustard. The original is my favorite while the other flavors I had were more of a mustard which then they added spices. To me I thought it would have more of a unique taste or something different from just added spice. They do accept card and the mustard is around 7 euro. Now for the review. This place just from the staff alone. I would have to give it a 2 out of 10 on that 🔥 scale. The location is very beautiful and good walking distance to the downtown area.

Nice little shop. It is a shop. There is a cart for tasting that people can visit.they have marmalades and mustard. 10-ish or so of each. I think there is a special session you can do the describes how everything is made etc, but that is scheduled and you needs ticketa

We were here as part of a river cruise tour. We were Interested in learning about how mustard is made, but not really a fan of the product. This is a really small working operation that does a good job to explain the history and development of the product.

A lovely mustard museum near the Moselle river, Cochem. Well worth the visit if you are in the area. Had the opportunity to sample the many mustards before purchasing. Very tasty indeed! Other products available to purchase if mustard is not your thing.

It's a shop with hardly anything out on display. I guess you can only do so many varieties of mustard. Anyway, we walked in, did the circumference in about 1.5 minutes, and walked out. I'm not really sure why this place has the possibility to review it.

Not many words required for this place: Mustards and sausages. Many mustards available in different flavours, home made by the still in use mill. You pay a price for it, around €7,80 for a 250ml jar. Too much in my opinion, but yes, many tourists will buy it anyways. Oh yes, you can do some tasting as well.

Just tried the sausage and a mustard of your choice for 2,50 offer. We really enjoyed it. Of course, some mustard flavors won‘t fit everyones preference. But the sausage was really good. While my favorite was the historic mustard, my +1 preferred the garlic mustard - a bit too intense for me.
