This was a really cool bar, right next to the giant steps. Downstairs you were able to get food, upstairs and outside was just a bar. They had all their own beers on tap as well as some other local breweries. If the weather is good the garden was a great spot for a drink.
Luke W — Google review
Probably the most impressive flight of stairs I’ve ever seen & climbed to be fair, and I’ve been up more than a few stairs in my time. Needed to catch my breath now & again! Wouldn’t like to be the postman here (yes there are letterboxes) As the signs keep telling you, keep the noise down to respect the local residents.
Toxteth G — Google review
Montagne de Bueren is one of the most impressive spots in Liège. Climbing all those steps might be a bit of a challenge, but once you reach the top, it’s absolutely worth it. The view over the city is truly breathtaking — especially at sunset, it looks like a painting. Just be careful on the way down… your legs might still think you’re climbing up! 😄🏙️
Niho — Google review
A nice short work out if you fancy it. Saw a few locals running up and down. Lovely views along the way if you stop and turn around and it leads to a prominent monument and viewpoint. Plenty of routes leading on from the top to wander back down or just take the stairs down. It’s a public pathway so no need to book or buy tickets just walk.
Michael C — Google review
Worth the climb! Most famous location in liege. Suitable for families to visit. MUST SEE all the view points after going up hill. Only disadvantage is for wheel chairs and baby strollers. We will need to carry them with us to the top.
Sharanyan R — Google review
Good exercise with breath taking views up and down the stairs. You can count them as you go to see how many they are
Gerald N — Google review
It has around 364 steps, built early as a passage to the city. You will find amazing views of the Liege city from the top. On reaching the top you will find a hospital and view points

Blegny-Mine

Mentioned on
2 lists
Sights & Landmarks
Amusement center
Blegny-Mine is a former coal mine turned museum that offers underground tours and exhibits detailing the mining process. Visitors can experience descending into the pitch-black underground world of a 20th-century Belgian miner via a cage lift. The tour includes dressing up in miners' gear and being guided by an ex-miner through original mine elevators, showcasing the harsh realities of mining work. Above ground, there are plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy.
Absolutely brilliant place for a stop over. You can use the whole car park but if you need electric their is about 5 or 6 spots. Their is water, you can empty your toilet and dispose of rubbish. Their is a bar restaurant with amazing food and lovely staff. We have stayed here 3 times when passing through. Very quiet spot. You can even do a trip down into the mine which is very good.
Lisa S — Google review
If you don't speak the language of the tour you end up just standing around a lot as your audio guide takes 3 min and the tour guide takes 10. But logically you aren't allowed to wander in the mine alone. It was still neat to go down into the mine. but the miniature golf course sucks.
VERA — Google review
Visiting the coal mine was an exciting and very informative experience, which we definitely recommend! We were impressed by the atmosphere and history. However, there's a significant downside: all tours are in Danish, and the English audio guide is extremely brief (about a minute of info). The Danish guide speaks at length and in detail, leaving us waiting and understanding nothing. Most of the tour was spent waiting, which really diminished the experience. We hope the administration will expand the English options (full tours or a more detailed audio guide). Despite the language barriers, the mine is worth visiting, but be prepared that without Danish, much will remain untold.
Uliana M — Google review
We really enjoyed following in the footsteps of miners for our 2hr tour, €16 tour. We had and audio guide but felt we missed out on extra info the guide gave in French. That said, we'd definitely recommend this as something a bit different. Bonus was that we could also stay over night in our camper for free too. Do come if you are in the area.
Wendy F — Google review
Very cool place, the tour guide was also very fun
Elele — Google review
We loved the tour of the mine. Our 4 year old son was tall enough to be allowed to enter and he also really enjoyed the tour. We also enjoyed the the playground, the museum and all the machines that are placed all over the site. The animal park is the least enjoyable thing they have to offer (also a bit out of theme) , but it's still nice for the little ones to see. The hike up the terill is also well worth it.
Dimitri M — Google review
Stayed in our Motorhome overnight, great safe location with water etc We went on the mine tour which was very good, a great experience. To enhance the audio tour it would have been nice to have heard some experience of miners who had worked there. Would recommend without hesitation !
Shaun P — Google review
Fantastic little mine experience. In person guides only in Flemish or French, but audiobook guide you can use that was informative. 9 euro for entry into the mine. Bring a coat it's 10 degrees down inside. You get a tour of the washing/screening plant as well. We took our tour during Corona Virus restrictions and still enjoyed it. Restaurant could be better - took ages to be served once we were seated.

Netherlands American Cemetery

Mentioned on
1 list
Military cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
The Netherlands American Cemetery is a serene resting ground for more than 8,000 US military personnel who lost their lives during World War II. The cemetery boasts of statues, a chapel, a tower and a reflecting pool. Families have the option to adopt graves of the fallen soldiers with utmost care and respect since 1944. It is an awe-inspiring experience that leaves visitors humbled by the sacrifices made by these brave soldiers.
What an incredible place to visit. Everything is extremely well organized, clean and beautiful, the museum is small but super informative and beautiful. It is definitely worth visiting this place and learning more about the history of the American soldiers who fought in World War II.
Arlei W — Google review
Very poignant and beautifully kept cemetery and memorial. It really puts so much into perspective when you walk around, the endless rows of white crosses, the beautiful flowers and on some graves the photos of the young heroes who gave their lives, so we can be here today! You can't help but shed a tear. Very moving indeed. The visitor centre is also very informative. Highly recommended for a visit and to pay respects 🙏🏻 🕯
Ness R — Google review
We had the honor of visiting earlier in January. It was the experience of a lifetime as the kind staff offered the ceremonial sanding of our loved one's grave marker. The weather was not good but the folks there accommodated us very graciously. The relatively new visitor center has a lot to offer, exhibits and an informative ~30 minute film on the heroes and the formation of the Cemetery. If I may say so, it is a *must visit* destination for families of fallen war heroes who are buried there. Truly remarkable and unforgettable for me as a relative a fallen hero who lies in honor at Margraten.
Tom G — Google review
Our family’s Veterans Day visit to the Netherlands American Cemetery was incredibly moving and a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by so many. The grounds are beautifully maintained, honoring each fallen hero with the utmost respect. Walking among the rows of white crosses, sharing the stories of bravery with our children, was a truly humbling experience. The cemetery staff were kind and knowledgeable, adding depth to our understanding of the history here. We left feeling deeply grateful and proud, and highly recommend this visit to anyone—especially on Veterans Day.
Joshua H — Google review
This cemetery is really interesting and fascinating to visit. Walking on the large, cross-filled fields is such a unique experience, and it reminds you that each of those crosses is a life of someone. Someone who didn't deserve to die, someone whose life could've been so much longer. As for the state of the cemetery, it's super well maintained and you can see the effort put into it to keep it that way. I personally didn't get the chance to visit the (paid) visitors center, which looks very modern and sleek blender into the green area around it. Though it looks fun as something extra you can do if you have the time.
Luc S — Google review
It's the only American cemetery in the Netherlands (Est. 1945). A place to be quiet in memory of the more than 18.000 American soldiers lost, of which 10010 still here, who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. It's well maintained by people mostly unseen, even the American flag is up every single day. A few battle maps illustrate what happened, the many crosses speak for themselves. An excellent place to remember ourselves, and to show our next generation, it's worth to preserve freedom in honor of those who brought us peace. If everyone is thinking alike, someone isn’t thinking - General George Patton
Richard P — Google review
They have a really nice set up of the tombs, Americans really know how to give an experience. By the way, its free entry
Fabiola P — Google review
Recently visited this impressive place. The parking is free and toilets were available. First, you pass the Court of Honor, where all the names of those who were never recovered are inscribed. Some names have a bronze star which means they were were later found. After passing the chapel you enter the cemetery where the numbers of the fallen soldiers are really put into perspective. There is a small visitor center with the stories of those who received the Medal of Honor on display, there is currently a new visitor center under construction. Everything is well attended to. Everything is wheelchair accessible. This place is really worth a visit to pay our respects to those who fought for freedom.

Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial

Military cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Remains of 7,992 US soldiers interred in a cemetery run by the American Battle Monuments Commission.
The largest American WWII memorial in Belgium. Beautiful and educational space with each state and some territories’ seals engraved on the building. Right on a main road and worth stopping for at least a few minutes. (Note the parking seems to close earlier than the memorial; 4 vs 5pm as of Sept 2024.)
Graham G — Google review
They say, “If you stand still, you fall behind.” But in a place like this, you have to stand still. To pause. To reflect. On what was lost — so many lives, taken in the name of God, of money, of ideas that lost all meaning in the bloodshed. And yet, humanity seems to have learned so little. How many more must die before we truly understand what peace means? A place filled with silence. But the silence screams.
Hendrik V — Google review
I arrived here somewhat by accident just out on a bike ride after taking part in the Liege Bastogne Liege event and when I parked up my bike just outside I was met by a somewhat stern warden who told me I couldn’t leave it there. When I spoke to her I told her I had been to several American cemeteries including the Somme and elsewhere in Belgium. Once she realised I was genuinely interested her mood completely changed and I was actually given a place inside the building to keep my bike whilst I visited the cemetery. Like all American cemeteries here in France and Belgium this place of burial and remembrance is absolutely immaculate, sad and intriguing at the same time, a fitting reminder to all those who gave up their lives in the great wars.
Brian M — Google review
Visited on a Leger Tour, incredibly beautiful Cemetery and Memorial, The largest US cemetery in Belgium.
Darryl P — Google review
Beautiful cemetery grounds. Peaceful and much quieter and less crowded than Normandy. Very worth a visit. Parking lot is small. There is a WC on the opposite side of the cemetery from the parking lot, just look for the sign.
Chelsea M — Google review
A deeply moving and highly impressive place, which brings home the cost of freedom paid by so many young American men so far from home. The members of staff are excellent and very helpful.
Peter C — Google review
Beautiful and moving. 7,987 American Soldiers who lost their lives during WWII rest here. Humbled to have visited to pay respect.
Michael M — Google review
Very emotional visit. If you're in Belgium and can make a stop, I highly suggest visiting some of the men who gave their all for the liberation of Europe in WWII. If you're looking to visit please either have a tour group ready to help you get there or rent a car. It's probably too far to walk and the small country road doesn't have a side walk.

Very nice and friendly personal. It was very nice to visit at Sunday because it wasn't busy at all. Hopefully they will build an audio or video tour to become more part of what Cuyper build from furniture to whole buildings.

Surprisingly nice and inspiring place to visit when in Roermond! If you like sketches, architecture and the real ambacht. This place you definitely need to visit. Love how they go back to basics from sketch until the real result and they also have some areas where you can practice and learn. Very nice!

#29Roermond if your a fan of Cuypers then of course you have to come here. Nice little gift shop and a cafe when you enter. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The building is from Cuypers too (1853). I quiet like the Celtic and medieval motifs in his work and thought I'd see more of that which I didn't, but I did learn a lot about the complete works if Cuypers. #railthetrails

Visiting Roermond, this place seemed like a must go. We've been there, asking how long is the tour. The reception was only willing to sell ticket. It was 30 minutes before the closing time, the tour is more than one hour, we were asking to the reception how long is the tour, and still, the reception only wanted to sell ticket. - How long is the visit ? - Yes, you can visit. - How long is the visit ? - Yes, you can visit, the ticket is... [forgotten price] - Do we have time to see everything ? - If you want to visit, the ticket is.... [forgotten price] This was the conversation during 10 minutes, when suddenly, by somekind of miracle, the reception says that the museum will close very soon, and we'll have no time for everything.... So, let me ask you something. Was it me speaking bad English ? Was the employee speaking bad English ? What's the point of selling a ticket as you know that people will have no time for the complete tour ? Are you scammers ? Because of this, we removed the museum from our to-do list. We also warn people about this place not being 100% honest. If one day, you become 100% honest, maybe we'll come back. Otherwise, good luck with your scam.

Greifvogelstation & Wildfreigehege Hellenthal

Wildlife park
Nature & Parks
Wildlife park with farm animals & wild deer, displays of eagles & falcons, plus a Wild West village.
Lovely park with vast grounds where you can interact with animals and watch a bird of pray show. We visited in winter and enjoyed it despite the cold. The animals were out and about and we could feed them with the food bought at the park - you can but it at the ticket office and then stock up some more at vending machines throughout the park (bring coins). Also, bring clothes you don’t mind getting dirty as some animals will jump or lean on you to get food. Our kids absolutely loved it and they also enjoyed walking through the small bird enclosure and having parakeets and budgies sit on their shoes and land on their arms. There’s a playground inside, as well as a snack kiosk and outside the park you’ll find a restaurant with typical german fare (think schnitzel and fries). There’s plenty of parking (free), especially if you arrive early. But do keep in mind that most foreign credit (and debit) cards are not accepted (e.g. Visa) so bring cash.

Superb variety of birds of prey and animals you can get close to. A great place for children and adults in a beautiful setting. Secret tip...try the homebrew Honey Beer!
Colin R — Google review
Wow wow must go!!! Unbelievable! For all people 3 months to 120. Good to begin with the “train “ bus, that takes you around all directions to see and know where to go. First thing you have to ask when the birds show starts! Then go back and walk all the way. You can give food to the animals and go inside…. So cool. And be with them all around you. The wild birds are amazing! The “ Bambi “ so nice. You have pigs too and much more. We came with something to eat from home. Take water and good walking shoes.
Wine N — Google review
This small zoo is a wonderful place to discover and interact with some animals and to learn more about them. And as a cherry on top there is also a bird of prey show. Unfortunately the show is in German, but the doesn't make it less spectacular.
Ron N — Google review
Paradise for animal lovers. For 1€ you can buy a small bag of food, but make sure you get enough because there are so many adorable animals you want to feed!
Viktoria T — Google review
Beautiful! Natural! Pure! I think it's one of the best open game enclosures in Europe. The ideal place for children, grown ups, couples, the elderly, in short for everyone. A huge parking lot outside with a nice cafe at the entrance. The tickets aren't that cheap. It costs 11€ for adults but on the other hand, it's so much worth it. For this amount you get so much in return inside. A magnificent bird show with all the best hunting birds for eg: Falcons, owls, different species of eagles and hawks, etc. You get to interact personally and feed varieties of animals like deers, boars, red deers, donkeys, lynx, sheeps, etc, etc. You can buy animal food at the counter, I think it costs 1€ per packet. It's pure nature inside with beautiful panoramas at places where mountains, river and the skies meet each other. We love this place alot and definitely recommend it to everyone. A MUST!
Akshay K — Google review
Quite a large park with many of the animals of the area exposed. The living area's of the wildlife are spacious for most animals. There is also a playground for children. In the park toilets are available and there are some coffee and lunch places around. At the entrance is a large restaurant.

Such a wonderful place! As an animal freak I was in paradise. Animals are well cared for and have a lot of freedom. Baby goats stole the show though! We absolutely recommend visiting. You can spend the whole day walking around and admire birds, bors, deer and whatnots. Best part...you can handfeed them, touch them and enjoy the nature. A must visit when in Eifel.

Very good ship service. You may take a round trip either from Heimbach or Rursee, which is around 12.45 minutes round trip. On board, you have certain menu options to eat and drink l. Toilets are available with enough seating spaces. The ship remains clean, and the staff is friendly and speaks English as well. There are economic parking places available with payment options by cash or card. The tickets of the ship ride can be bought directly at the counter by cash or card. There are no escalators , and one needs to use either stairs or slope to go down at the dock, which is not a very long distance from the cash counter. There is a restaurant as well as hotel accommodation options available. A lot of walking and hiking spots nearby to explore the town. A road trip by wheeled train motored ride is available as well here to do a small trip through the Heimbach city which people can also do which is good fun as well.

Terrific place for almost every outdoor activity - boating, hiking, swimming, fishing, cycling - or just to walk along the river or even a relaxing ferry ride. The ferry ride from 'Einruhr' to 'Rurberg' and back was amazing! The tickets for the ride are not so expensive either. You see people playing water sports along the way. There are a few restaurants that have the tables right along the banks and the view from there is just pleasant to the eyes! We have been here in all seasons. Irrespective of what season it is one can visit here anytime. I'm sure it'll give an amazing experience!

Sights & Landmarks
100-hectare resort on former Nazi Castle Vogelsang with guided tours, visitor & education centers.
A very chilling yet interesting place to visit. It has an amazing view. The site is very big. If you’re into history, then i totally recommend this place. From there you can also start a 4 hour hiking tour that goes around the sea and back to site.
Fatma A — Google review
Very interesting place to visit, especially for school classes and other group trips, and nice personal, however me and my friends waited fifteen minutes for the gastronomy to open, when they were supposed to already be open, we had to call the place for them to open the doors and the food was overpriced and tasted bad. My friends and I had waffles with cherries and cream, the cherries tasted like they were already rotten and we could not eat them so it was wasted money.
Annika H — Google review
Beautiful place with wonderful views. Parking ticket : 6€ There is a restaurant with “standard food quality” and enough places for everyone inside and outside. Walking through the national park is an amazing experience.
Gabriel C — Google review
It’s a modern museum. Lovely views and solid information. The audio guide should be updated (google audio voiceover in 2025?) plus some of the signes would be great to have im English. Overall very good, nice and helpful people. Thank you
Hynek — Google review
The place was both shocking (historical aspepct) and mesmerizing. The area is large, you should expect a lot of walk, but it worth. If you are looking for the exact preservation of the national socialist place, you should look elsewhere. This facility was used a lot since then, so lots of modernizations happened, but this did not take out any experience from me. The location is awesome with excellent lookout.
Károly S — Google review
Amazing historical place, although a bit difficult to apprehend without going through the museum. The museum is well thought, focusing on the background for building such a place before going through it (brief) use by the nazis and the impact on the graduates. It really shows the inefficiency of the authoritarian regime, but also the indoctrination and resulting horrors. A great place to visit on a sunny day!

I can recommend the guided tour. We did the tour for Dutch speakers, which was guided by somebody who was stationed for over 15 years on the Vogelsang IP. He did have a lot of knowledge of the history and also had some great anecdotes from the time he was stationed there.

Not many places in a fully-modern world are as beautiful and relaxing as this small outlet town not far away from Köln. You can get amazing products and spend a great weekend here, keeping a fairly good budget. Here you'll find cafes, restaurants, gift shops, clothing/accessories outlets and spectacular views of antique architecture and a lovely landscape.

Good place to shop for clothing in the City Outlet stores. For coffee, visit Café Erftgold. They have good coffee and lots of cakes.

Something for everyone. I was there to photograph the art exhibition with the huge Easter eggs. Definitely worth a visit
Walter P — Google review
Despite it being a charming village within fortress walls, the outlet stores in the city diminish the originality and authentic character. The clash between history and shopping experience was a bit too harsh for my taste. It depends on your point of view ofcourse. Nevertheless there are still beautiful buildings to be seen and you can still get a feeling of what it used to be before 'civilisation' marched in.

Therme Euskirchen

Thermal baths
Spas & Wellness
Modern thermal spa complex with an outdoor lagoon, saunas & a pool in a palm-lined, glass atrium.
We visited Therme Euskirchen on Saturday and had an amazing time! The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, and the combination of the pools and saunas makes for a perfect day of wellness. The property is very well-maintained, and everything feels clean and inviting. We especially enjoyed the pool area and the variety of saunas. The only downside is that the Aufguss sessions can get a bit crowded, but it’s still worth experiencing. We also ate at the restaurant and tried the Pad Thai and the pizza, both of which were delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and will definitely be coming back for another visit!
Anthony B — Google review
I recently spent a day at Therme Euskirchen, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The complex offers an impressive variety of saunas – from something resembling a hammam to a unique sauna where you can watch koi fish swimming gracefully behind glass, and many others to explore. Each one had its own character and atmosphere, making it a real journey through different wellness traditions. The pools are equally diverse. There’s a swim-up bar with very reasonable prices (and I was delighted to find my favorite banana weizen beer there), a saltwater pool for deep relaxation, and even a smaller pool where calming music plays underwater – a surprisingly magical touch. I felt both refreshed and completely relaxed by the end of the day. A special mention must go to the Amber Orchid restaurant inside the complex. It is truly a fine-dining experience, with excellent cuisine and a refined atmosphere. Our dinner there was a perfect finale to the day. I would particularly like to thank our waiter, Scott K., who provided impeccable service and made us feel genuinely welcome. Overall, Therme Euskirchen is a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for relaxation, variety, and a touch of luxury – all in one spot.
Andrey K — Google review
It would be nice if the website clearly stated that children are not allowed on certain days. That would save people from making a pointless trip. It's understandable that children are not allowed in the sauna. But “Palm Paradise” sounds very tempting to children.
Juliane Z — Google review
We had a great day at the Therme. Unfortunately, my cousin had an accident on the stairs near the immersive sky experience. The stairs there are a dangerous. They don’t have anti slip protection and that is why my niece slipped and fail. There are other stairs near the thermal pools and that one has slip protection. See pictures.

The four of us had a great day at the Therme Euskirchen. We would like to put special emphasis on the food at the restaurant "Amber Orchid". The food was so good that we went to eat there twice that day. If you happen to visit and went some actual good food instead of the usual, be sure to give it a try. Greetings to Scott from the four musketeers.

I love the therme in Euskirchen. It was my 5th time there. In the week its not too busy. They have a beautiful sauna and a huge garden. My favourite is the koi sauna. For food, swim, sauna und towels you pay a full day 100€.
Natascha S — Google review
I was able to see the exact price only after registering on your website. The price turned out to be almost twice as high as the one shown earlier — €76 for two tickets (one adult and one child) for 4 hours of swimming out of season (only the indoor pool). Could you please explain how your pricing is calculated? The price was very high for us, so we couldn’t visit the spa complex. The children were very disappointed.

Duisburg Inner Harbour is a captivating industrial heritage quarter centered around a historic marina. This area offers green spaces, dining options, shops, and museums for visitors to explore. The harbor played a crucial role in the city's industrial history up to the 1960s and has undergone significant revitalization since the 1990s.
Amazing place for walking and jogging. I really love the atmosphere.

This is probably what Duisburg is well-known for - a nice harbour with great views of the surroundings. If you are in or around this city, it is worthwhile to walk on any bridge that gets you there and spend a bit of time taking pics, vids, etc. the inner harbour can be an amazing sight in the warm summer evenings and sunset pics are quite common and popular in this place. Also good for a stroll along the harbour.

Sechs-Seen-Platte is a stunning recreation area featuring six interconnected lakes, offering beach-lined swimming areas, forested trails, and various water sports activities. Spanning 150 hectares, this manmade marvel was once a gravel pit dug by Count Spee for his ancestral home near Dusseldorf.

Duisburg Zoo

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Duisburg Zoo, situated in Duisburg, Germany, is a well-known destination for animal enthusiasts. Spanning over 15 hectares and established in 1934, the zoo houses about 4,000 animals from approximately 400 species. Visitors can witness exotic and native animals including big cats, bears, monkeys, and even koalas at the specialized Koala House. The zoo also features a dolphinarium and an adventure playground for added entertainment.
We recently visited Duisburg Zoo, and overall, it was a great but mixed experience. 👍 What I Liked: The zoo features some unique animals you don’t usually see in other German zoos—like red panda, koalas, manatees, elephants, and even Tasmanian devils, which was a nice surprise. The layout is quite spacious and natural, with wooded surroundings and open paths. It felt more like a walk in the park with animal stops along the way. Big animals like elephants have enough space for themselves, and the zoo even mimic what's their real niche. They also have colourful aquariums with beautiful corals and farms. Great for families! There are playgrounds and picnic areas scattered around, making it easy to spend a full day with kids. For photography lovers, it’s a solid spot. Many enclosures offer good visibility without too much glare or obstruction. What Could Be Better: Some parts of the zoo feel a bit dated. A few enclosures could definitely use a facelift or renovation. I did have concerns about animal welfare, especially with the gorillas and elephants—some seemed anxious or restless. Great value for money and the highlight and the crowd pleaser is the Dolphin show. They have names like Delfin, Delfina, Daisy.. 🎟️ Practical Info: Entrance fee: ~€19.50 for adults, ~€11 for kids.
Gee O — Google review
Very nice zoo and the 🐬 show made the experience even better. We had a really great time there and I could recommend it even for families with smaller kids because the zoo is not too big so it is convenient for small legs 😅 (our four-year old walked all the way by himself with no complaints). However, overall I have to give "only" four stars because we were not very satisfied with the food possibilities. It's maybe common for Germany generally to have such a food service and options but from our experience from many zoos in different European countries, it was unfortunately the worst.
Barbora Š — Google review
There quite a lot of variety animals! we can watch them closely name boards towards Dolphinarium is not great, it was difficult to find it and hence we missed the show! - one star minus there are only snack and mini cafe, no proper restaurant inside - which is why one star less parking lots are here and there, come by 11am to make it useful! the pic is the view from inside the zoo towards Autobahn! Close shot of lions! At one corner they have Domestic animals like pigs , rabbits 🐇 etc Candid pics of animals are shot by me with CanonM50
Ravi S — Google review
We’ve been to the Duisburg Zoo a few times now, and it’s always a fun experience. There’s a wide variety of animals, including some unique ones like koalas and a wombat. Some parts of the zoo feel a bit dated, but you can clearly see that they are working on renovating several enclosures, which is great to see. The highlight of the zoo is definitely the dolphin show — it’s very well done and always a pleasure to watch. All in all, it’s a nice zoo that we’ll happily visit again!
Gavin B — Google review
Quite cool zoo. Positive: nice variety of animals. All are well fed and taken care. Surrounded by a green, natural and beautiful environment. The delfinarium is fun. You could see tigers, gorillas, giraffes, red pandas, elephants and many more. Toilets and restaurants are available. The price is not that bad. Negative: the parking is 1 km away, at least. You have to walk through a path that is next to a highway where cars go fast. It doesn't feel too convenient if you go with kids. The day fee is 5€ and you have to pay in cash at the entrance.
A. S — Google review
Don’t miss the dolphin show. We enjoyed the visit. However, 500 ml water battle will cost 4.5 euros.

That was awesome. Very huge area. Need 3-4 hours minimum. My advice - take your time, make a plan, have a fun. Don't miss the delphinium show.

Great service and experience! This place simply offers fantastic customer service and great cars. We felt Tommaso looked after us really well and helped make our experience a great one. Tommaso was happy to take his time to explain about the cars and how to drive at the ring - which was great, seeing as this was our first time at the Green Hell. Prices were also very agreeable. My brother and I had booked cars with N-Rent for three days on the ring. When we arrived, the car we were supposed to have the second day - a Honda Civic Type R - had been involved in an accident and was therefore unavailable. No problem as we were simply offered the more powerful Seat Leon Cupra. On our first day we had a slight overrev on the Suzuki Swift. Normally this would have incurred a surcharge - which is fair enough since it prompts the mechanics to run a number of checks to check for damage. We were however let off with a warning but it just goes to show that these guys are not looking to rip off their customers and are happy to deal with such issues on a case by case basis. I recommend N-Rent wholeheartedly. I will definitely be returning and have already recommended this place to friends.
Sverre K — Google review
Fantastic service and support from these guys. After an initial mix up with the accommodation, they sorted it out at their expense. I had a great time experiencing the circuit for the first time in one of their Swifts, which did a great job of keeping up with the general traffic in wet conditions. I'll definitely use them again when I come back and I highly recommend them to anyone else.
Adam H — Google review
Absolutely great! Tommaso & Michael are class people and are thinking about your safety first. Many choices and even Suzuki Swifts starting at 99 euros for 2 laps. I chose the BMW. And had the best laps and cant wait for my next visit to Adenau.

I had a great rental experience with N-rent. I rented the Suzuki Swift Stage 2. The car was in excellent/safe condition and I had a blast driving 4 laps on the Nurburgring. Mike and his team were great at explaining the track rules to me. The drive was one of the funnest experiences I've ever had and I'd highly recommend it for any petrol head!!
Khalid A — Google review
Great track car rental in adenau. Tommazo was a fantastic person to deal with. I arrived without a reservation and within 30 minutes I was able to drive away in one of their Suzuki swift sports. They offer left and right hand drive cars, and the price was competitive. There was no pressure and the hand over and handback were simple and stress free. The showroom is on the main Street, just tucked back behind a building so easy to miss. It's opposite the big car dealership however, so you can use that as a guide. Thanks, and hope to see you next time I'm at the Nurburgring.
Nik P — Google review
Excellent service, hospitality was great, the Alfa I drove showed no signs of weakness which is a testament to N-Rent's skills at using the best upgrades and maintaining their cars to the highest quality. Next time I return to Nurburgring, I will be using N-Rent!

These guys are top class, rented the Polo GTI from them and was actually blown away by that car having rented various other cars in the past. The team is so easy to deal with, quick to respond and the whole day from start to finish was handled in a relaxed, yet professional, manner that will have me coming back again. Thanks guys for the great car!
Peter M — Google review
My second visit to the Ring and first time using N-rent. Not the most expensive cars, but if you want a safe, reliable, well prepared and good handling car, then this is the right place to go. Lorenzo and team had great communication leading up to my visit, helped handle my registration with 3rd party track day organizers, provided an excellent and thorough pre-briefing to help me feel comfortable getting on track safely, and even went out for a few laps with me to give me a few pointers. Lorenzo is an ace instructor with more than 3,000 laps on the Ring himself - incredible turn by turn instruction! At the end of my day, they were incredibly fair in reviewing my track data and the car condition and I was happy to pay their fees and support this great business! THANK YOU for an excellent and memorable day Lorenzo and team!!!

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Cologne Cathedral, a stunning example of Gothic architecture, stands as a majestic landmark in the heart of Cologne. Its grand facade is just the beginning; visitors can embark on guided tours that not only delve into its rich history but also offer breathtaking views of the Rhine River. The vibrant city surrounding this iconic cathedral is alive with culture and charm, from medieval markets to lively carnival celebrations.
Majestic…. In every angle. Firstly a great place of worship. A great prayer hall, architecture, gothic at is best. The entrances from east and west are not to be missed of its details. The north with two mighty towers offers best of it. The huge windows with itched glasses depicting various holy characters are worth watching in details. It takes one full day to enjoy this place in and out.

Utterly breathtaking and awe inspiring Cathedral. Immensely beautiful, clean and free to enter. Excellent support service in the Information centre. Many lovely older worlde cafes nearby.Toilets outside the Cathedral are clean and well maintained.

The Cologne Cathedral is absolutely amazing and breathtaking! Its enormous size and stunning Gothic architecture make it one of the most impressive landmarks I’ve ever visited. Even though it’s often crowded, everything feels well organized, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and respectful. It’s also right next to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), so it’s very easy to reach — perfect for a quick stop or a longer visit. The gift shop is lovely, with nice souvenirs and books about the cathedral’s history. I especially recommend visiting on rainy days — the interior feels even more magical and calming, with the sound of rain outside and the light coming through the stained glass windows. Truly a must-see spot in Cologne!
Armin V — Google review
During our Rhine River Cruise, we came here to see this great piece of Gothic architecture. We came with our guide. Since they are not allowed inside, we saw it ourselves. It took more than 600 years to complete this magnificent Church. It was declared World Heritage Site in 1996. It is most visited landmark in Germany. More than 6 million tourist visit every year. It is the third tallest Church in the world. This medieval Church is continuously renovated. It is very beautiful from inside. The stained window glasses and other piece of art and paintings are magnificent. It's open from 10 to 5 from Monday to Saturday and 1 to 4 on Sundays. Minimum one hour is required to see it properly. The trolley bags and other big bags are not allowed inside.
Balkrishna S — Google review
An absolutely breathtaking masterpiece, one of the most awe-inspiring buildings you’ll ever see. Standing before it, you can truly feel the weight of centuries, the devotion, and the artistry that went into every single stone. The towering spires seem to touch the sky, and when the sunlight hits the stained glass windows, the entire interior glows with color and quiet power. It’s not just a cathedral - it’s a symbol of human perseverance, faith, and creativity. Construction began in the 13th century and took more than 600 years to complete, yet the vision never faded. Every detail, from the delicate sculptures to the massive arches, tells a story of patience and belief that beauty is worth waiting for.
Freya N — Google review
Its foundation was laid in the 13th century and it was only completed in the 19th century; it rises in the very heart of the city as one of the most impressive examples of Gothic architecture. Both the details on the exterior and the historic, tranquil atmosphere you feel once you step inside are truly mesmerizing. Just walking around in the silence, with light filtering through the stained glass and the ceilings soaring above you, is an experience in itself. It’s a landmark that’s become synonymous with Cologne and, in my opinion, a truly magnificent place that you definitely shouldn’t miss.
Cihan E — Google review
We came for the Christmas markets but were wowed by this cathedral. Absolutely stunning. It is free, which is amazing!!! We walked right in. We did pay €20 for the whole family to go up the south tower. We did not buy these ahead. It was a little tight up the stairs. 535 of them. We saw the bells and they rang when we were by them, which was cool.
Nancy P — Google review
One of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever seen. Cologne Cathedral isn’t just a building — it dominates the city. The closer you stand, the more unreal it feels: every detail, every shadow, every tower looks carved with impossible precision. Inside, the atmosphere drops into silence instantly. It’s calm, powerful, almost overwhelming in the best way. If you’re in Cologne, this is the one place you absolutely can’t skip. Truly unforgettable.

The Cologne Central Station has been refurbished and upgraded to cater to local, national, and international passenger trains. The hostel adjacent to the station offers easy access to nearby tourist destinations. The rooms are well-lit with parquet or hardwood flooring and large windows providing a great view of the neighborhood. Guests can sleep soundly on comfortable single beds with individual bed headlight for checking emails while lying down.
Cologne Central Station is one of the best and most convenient train stations I’ve used in Germany. It’s very well-connected, with frequent trains to major cities like Frankfurt, Berlin, and Amsterdam. The station is clean, organized, and easy to navigate, even for travelers who don’t speak German. Signs are clear and available in English, and the staff were helpful when I had questions. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and even halal food options nearby. The location is also perfect—just next to the beautiful Cologne Cathedral, so you can enjoy sightseeing even during a short stop. Overall, a great experience. Safe, efficient, and comfortable. Highly recommended for both local and international travelers!

Love how this central station is extremely close to the famous Cologne Cathedral. You get out of the station and voila, the main landmark is there. I went around a little bit and it's quite dirty and smells urine and all other unpleasant ones. Otherwise, I was just happy at how convenient it was located to my main destination, which is the cathedral.

I love that you can see Koln Cathedral as soon as you step out of the train station. And that you're right in the heart of old town, an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions. There were a few coin operated rides in the train station to keep my little boy happy while we waited. I believe there were also local cafes but I just had Starbucks this time.

The train station is okay and is located well but… Why is there ONE BATHROOM?? The queue was so long and I just needed to go :( there are also a lot of druggies and strange people around the station and a lot of drunks.

One of the most beautiful Central Stations (if not the best) in Nordrhein-Westfalen. From there you have multiple possibilities with the tram, S-Bahn or subway. You can also take a walk around to see the old city. The cathedral in front of it is a MUST SEE!

Köln Hauptbahnhof is easily one of Europe's most visually stunning railway stations, thanks to its breathtaking location right next to the magnificent Kölner Dom, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The direct proximity creates a dramatic and mesmerizing view as you exit, where the modern travel hub is dwarfed by the towering spires of the Gothic Cathedral. This central location makes it the perfect gateway, not only serving as a crucial junction for high-speed ICE and international trains to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam, but also providing immediate access to the River Rhine, the famous "love lock" covered Hohenzollern Bridge, and Cologne's historic Old Town.

A great place to arrive and depart. This station is located in the middle of everything. There is the famous Cathedral, history, a museum and lots of shopping areas with restaurants. A short walk & you can walk beside the River or across the bridge .

Nestled in the heart of Cologne, Museum Ludwig is a treasure trove for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Once the private collection of Peter Ludwig, this museum showcases an impressive array of modern art that spans various movements including Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism, and Surrealism. As you explore its vibrant halls, you'll encounter everything from striking paintings to intricate ceramics and thought-provoking sketches.
A fantastic museum for modern and contemporary art lovers. Museum Ludwig has an impressive collection; from Picasso and Warhol to Lichtenstein and contemporary German artists. The layout is spacious and well organized, making it easy to explore at your own pace. Some temporary exhibitions are truly thought-provoking and beautifully curated. The view of Cologne Cathedral from the upper floors is a bonus also. It’s definitely worth spending a couple of hours here. If you enjoy art, don’t skip it while in Cologne.

What a lovely museum; both its architecture and its collections, they are all breathtaking… Museum Ludwig is highly regarded as one of Europe's most significant art museums, particularly for its collection of modern and contemporary art… It has diverse collection, which includes extensive holdings of Pop Art, Picasso, and works from the Russian avant-garde… The museum's architecture and spacious galleries are excellently contributing to a positive experience… Its main key aspects are as below: Extensive Collection: It boasts a vast collection spanning various artistic movements from the 20th and 21st centuries, with notable strengths in Pop Art, Picasso, and Russian avant-garde works… Renowned Artists: You can expect to see works by iconic artists such as Picasso, Warhol, Lichtenstein, Richter, Mondrian, Dali, Kandinsky, Nolde, Kokoschka, Man Ray, Pollack, Miro and many more… Well-Curated Exhibitions: The museum is well-organized and thoughtfully presents exhibitions, offering a mix of established masterpieces and cutting-edge contemporary works… Architectural Design: The building's architecture, including its spacious galleries and natural lighting, is enhancing the overall viewing experience… Location: Situated near the Cologne Cathedral, railway station and the bridge the museum's location is very very convenient… Overall: Museum Ludwig is a high-quality art institution that offers a rewarding experience… Having said all these, need to mention that some visitors suggest that the museum could improve the information provided alongside the artworks, particularly for those less familiar with modern art…
Bilge S — Google review
Its collection focused on modern and contemporary art is already very strong, but for me it has a special place especially because of its Picasso works. Being able to see original Picasso paintings from different periods so closely, and examine them down to the brushstrokes, is a truly impressive experience. They don’t just remain as paintings hanging on the wall – you find yourself wanting to stand in front of them for a long time and think. Alongside that, the pop art and other modern works make the museum even richer. Even if you only have a slight interest in art, it’s a place you should definitely make time for and one that shouldn’t be missed on a visit to Cologne.
Cihan E — Google review
A fantastic museum with an impressive collection of modern and contemporary art, including standout works by Picasso, Warhol, and Lichtenstein. The layout is spacious and well-curated, making it easy to explore at your own pace. Some sections may feel a bit niche or abstract depending on your taste, but overall it’s a must-visit for art enthusiasts. Great location next to the cathedral and worth the visit.
Leon B — Google review
I think this is one of the most important museums in Cologne and one of the main art museums in Germany. You can easily spend 2-3 hours there: it ranges from a very important modern art section with John Cage and "Five Friends" to important expressionist painters, local and international impressionists, and even some Picassos. Everything is stunning, four floors of pure art. There may be lines.

This place is remarkable! This is a museum where every single painting is worth seeing. Of course, the Picasso collection is the most famous and iconic, but you can find plenty of splendid paintings there. My only regret is that I had only 1.5 hours to see this collection.

The Neanderthal Museum, situated on the outskirts of Dusseldorf, offers an engaging journey through four million years of human evolution. Visitors can explore lifelike human sculptures and interactive audiovisual presentations that vividly depict the story of humankind from its origins to the present day. The museum is located in the Neandertal valley, where the first Neanderthal was discovered over 160 years ago.
We had really great time here with kids. The museum is good bus access from train station. In the museum we will receive a headset, you can hear very detailed information in each items. You need extra few euros to visit the tower, its few minutes walking distance from the museum building, it’s worth to visit too. Play ground for kids also a high light! We spent 5-6 hours in total there! Worth to come again :)

The museum is worth than I expected! Nice English explanation by using headset. Addition to this, I’m not sure about other languages but they prepared printed material in Japanese. Very wide area but when I got lost little bit, one of the receptionists was patrolling around and he came to me and asked. Good neighbor and nice hiking area.

Nice walk outside,at the cansl and woods, natural and not too overtrimmed. Bit left wild as huge area connect to the Neanderthal valley.. Recommend

The museum is a hidden gem, specially for expats like me or tourists from abroad, as it has plenty of text and audio in English (unfortunately not that common in Germany). The reconstructions are incredible and are definitely the highlight! But the museum actually offers very good content, with detail in the scientific disciplines involved and including important civic takeaways. It is also quite interesting for families, since the permanent exhibition includes a lot of interactive elements and an audio guide with voice acting for immersion.

The Cologne Triangle, a striking modern office building in the Deutz district, features an impressive observation deck that stands 103 meters above the ground. This vantage point offers visitors breathtaking 360-degree views of Cologne and its iconic Rhine River. For just a small fee, you can ascend to this sky-high platform either by lift or via stairs for those seeking a bit of exercise. The experience is particularly magical at dusk when the city lights begin to twinkle below.
Great way to enjoy a 360° view of the city of Cologne. The entrance ticket costs 5€, you then take an elevator for 29 floors and arrive on the roof of the skyscraper. Unfortunately there are protection glasses so it's not easy to take good pictures. I think that the panorama give its best at night.

The ticket is just 5 euros and you go up 28 floors pretty fast. It’s just 10-15 mins walk, across the bridge. And totally worth it. Could be windy there so carry a jacket.

Fantastic 360° view of Cologne. Very cheaply priced and is open all throughout the day. Highly recommend coming here if walking up the 500+ steps to the top of Cologne Cathedral's South Tower just isn't for you.
Luke B — Google review
Highly recommended! Open until 10 PM in the summer (Friday and Saturday). If you go from 9 PM until closing, you'll see it both in the morning/sunset and in the evening. This is also plenty of time, since there's no bar or other seating.

If you’re in Cologne and wanna catch the best city views, KölnTriangle is the spot for that. This place gives you a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, and trust me, it looks absolutely stunning, especially at night. The Cologne Cathedral shines like a gem, and the Rhein River just adds to the magic. It’s a chill place to just soak in the skyline and snap some killer photos. Go in the evening when the city lights up it’s a whole vibe ..! (: Ticket cost 5€

View point which gives the classic panorama of cologne including the cathedral, the rhine river and the hohenzollernbrücke bridge. Is it worth going up for 8 euro? Probably not but what else are you going to do in cologne?
Jack P — Google review
This is a great alternative option to see the city from high or having to climb the steps of the cathedral bell tower. There was no queue when we arrived, 5euros for a ticket, get on the lift to the 28th floor and your free to roam around the top. Great views and really sheltered from the weather with super high glass barriers. It's a great place to get away from the noise of the city. They do not allow suitcases but were fine with rucksacks. Great value and 100% must visit.

Nestled in the heart of Cologne, the Cologne Zoological Garden is a historic gem that has been captivating visitors since its establishment in 1860. This long-standing zoo boasts an impressive collection of over 10,000 animals representing more than 850 species. Among its many attractions are a stunning elephant park—the largest in Northern Europe—an engaging aquarium, and a lush rainforest house that transports you to exotic locales.
What a lovely day out with great friends! Weather was cooperating and most of the animals were out and about! Some we did not see because they were hiding or somewhere else but there was still plenty others to see. We loved the dinosaurs too! Stopped by the restaurant for some lunch which was also very nice. Lots of bees/wasps flying around while we were seated eating, so maybe not a great place if you are allergic, but otherwise really nice. Bathrooms were easy to find and it was easy getting in and out. Loved how playful the others were being! Thank you from the US!!

The 165th anniversary of Cologne Zoo is celebrated with evergreen content: dinosaurs. But also with a Panini sticker album. So, if you want to give your children a treat, buy the Dino kombi ticket with the sticker album. Do so online to jump the queue on site. I highly recommend to also book the Dino VR experience in advance - it is a ten minute visual aid (in coop with local VR hero TimeRide) and adds to the animatronics dinos scattered throughout the park. Otherwise, the 14 dinos add a nice distraction to the regular inhabitants of the lovely zoo. Some are animated, others really huge. One of the oldest zoos of Germany sports some nice attractions but also undergoes some considerable refurbishments. Some areas are closed off, others are currently under construction (giraffe house). But some historic buildings (old elephant house) surely add to the flavor. We paid €98 for two adults and 2 kids. So plan to bring your healthy snacks and drinks with you, otherwise better top up your Amex ;)
Stefankai S — Google review
Although zoos are not my favorite place to travel, this zoo surprised me. Animal rights were relatively respected and different and rare animals were collected in this zoo. I saw the Iranian cheetah, an endangered animal, for the first time in this zoo. It was a completely different experience from the zoos I had seen in Asia and Europe. I had it here.
Arash R — Google review
An incredibly expansive and intricate zoo, with an insane amount of different areas and habitats to visit. Definitely reserve at least a few hours to complete a full loop of the zoo! I've never seen so many of certain animals before, namely the meerkats. Gate staff are also super friendly and speak English which makes it easy.
Perth2Go A — Google review
Have been there again after a long time, it seems most animals kept well, they have more space now and look ok. Only the see through pool of the hippopotamus had an eco problem and was very cloudy, which was why they weren't fed for the public. The ant eater looked bored and moved repetitive. I liked the space of the cheetah which looked very natural. Entrance is expansive, but if you buy tickets online you get a daily free ticket for public transport
Jasmin G — Google review
The Cologne Zoo is very small. The elephant house and fake dinosaurs take up most of the space. The zoo is a dreary, bleak, and absolutely ugly place, captivating depressed animals. It's truly awful, giving an abandoned desolated and apocalyptic area. Anyone who doesn't feel pity for them probably won't feel anything else either. Every enclosure is super tiny. A lot of animals were also not there. The tropical house was closed, as well as every snack bars except one.. on a weekend.
Nini — Google review
Amazing place...a beautifully laid out zoo with so many wonderful birds and mammals to see and learn about
Donna B — Google review
The Cologne Zoo was Fascinating and I had a remarkable time looking at and watching all the different types of animals. One exception is that they could zone the animal regions so you know what animals are where based on their location they are found. My father in law, Gary enjoyed watching the penguins and the seals jump and dive into the water, Gary said “looks fun to be one”. We both had an amazing time in the Dino VR which tells you how the dinosaurs went extinct and how they lived before. It’s fascinating and a must see, the food selection could be better but overall a great zoo experience. One of the better ones i’ve seen!!🙌

Awesome place. We visited in late March. P There is plenty of free parking. Allow about 120 minutes. Tours last 90 minutes and run every 15 minutes. While the staff speak excellebt English, the tour is all in German (unless booked as a group in advance) - but ask for the English booklet and read as you go round (slef guided tours are not an option). Free toilets on site and lots of walks in the surrounding hills are there. Can be cold in the winter, so wrap up warm. You need to buy a photo pass if you want to take pictures.
Paul B — Google review
Be prepared. If you don't speak German you might find it to be pretty dull. The tour is guided and the guide only spoke in German and offered no English at all. He did speak English but he didn't like to be interrupted. So I didn't ask. There isn't a huge amount to look at but it is all about the story and the context. So if you cannot understand what is being said then it does make the tour rather like standing in a chilly tunnel. I believe all the facts and figures and information was very interesting judging by the reaction of the German speakers on the tour. None of the reading material or signs have any English translations. So I came away knowing no more than when I arrived other than when it was built (I think). None of this is intended as a criticism. It is in Germany and I don't speak German. But you just need to know what to expect.
Oliver — Google review
A piece of important history everyone should see. Be prepared that it is only possible to visit in groups, and the tickets are 15eur pp, plus 2,5 eur photo surcharge if you wish to rake photos. It's a bit sad that tge tours are only in German.

Excellent tour and visit, you are only allowed in groups with a guide. When we went we were the only English people so had to go in a German group. So I didn't get most of the info, but read lots before the tour started which helped out. Great photo opportunities and really makes you appreciate what it was like in the cold war. Only a fraction of the tunnels now exist, but what remains is very well preserved.

Interesting, and really good rainy day alternative. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Dystopian part of history… but somewhat relevant to today. I can only recommend

Very interesting piece of cold war history. Tours are extensive and very informative, however in German only unless you book a group tour. You "only" get to see a 230m stretch of the 17km bunker but it's quite more extensive than it may seem. Tours last about 90 minutes and explain the history, technical details, as well as the life in the bunker. You can drive a few km down the road and also see the sealed former main entrances.

Vohwinkel is a district in Wuppertal, known for its central station, Wuppertal Hauptbahnhof, and the iconic Schwebebahn suspension railway. The railway is a landmark of the city and offers convenient public transportation with frequent departures. It operates primarily on weekends and holidays, with replacement bus services on weekdays. The Schwebebahn provides a unique perspective of the city as it cruises above streets and residential areas.
One of its kind hanging train. The train is in service from early 1900's. An amazing engineering feat! The Bahn Route covers scenic places. It runs above river, roads. Try to occupy the last seat as it provides the best visual treat!

It's a very good experience for a one time ride. The trains were nice and clean. Lines are beautifully constructed over the central canal through the city. The views of the surrounding hills are also nice. Tips: The tail end seats offer the best views. It's a bit noisy ride.
Al-amin N — Google review
I was told about this suspension railway and recommended to try it. I joined at Kluse (one stop down from the main train station, next to the cinema) and grabbed a ticket - although cheap (only 1.70) I found the machine doesn't take credit card, so come prepared with coins. The railway isn't big - only two carriages - but they are pretty frequent so if you miss one (or it's full), you don't have long to wait for the next. The carriages have been modernised: they're brightly-lit with clean seats that don't look worn in any way. Sitting at the back gives a good view down the river and along the roads during the trip, but as I tried it last evening in winter most of my trip was quite dark. I travelled south-west all the way to Vohwinkel (the terminal stop) where it's possible to see the other carriages parked, so there's quite a few cars. I then grabbed the one on the other side and travelled back the other way. Quite leisurely, a pretty smooth ride and fairly quick, given the age of the technology. Well worth the trip!

It's a very good experience for a one time ride. The trains were nice and clean. Lines are beautifully constructed over the central canal through the city. The views of the surrounding hills are also nice. Tips: The tail end seats offer the best views. It's a bit noisy ride.

History Museums
The House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany, or Haus der Geschichte, is a captivating museum located in Bonn that delves into the complex narrative of post-war Germany. Opened shortly after Berlin regained its status as the capital, this museum offers an extensive exploration from World War II's aftermath to Germany's reunification.
By the time I visited, only the exhibition about second world war was open to visitors, the rest was under construction they said. You can find sections divided generation by generation. Very informative readings, interactive medias and striking photos take you through the near history from that times’ perspective. I love the way the content presented in a very objective. Definitely a museum to visit to grasp a different perspective on that era. I only wish there were more source books also in English as well.

The exhibition atm is smaller than expected. The upper floors were under construction & the lowest floor was about Roman period. After Hilter exhibition is on the ground floor. Educates you about Germany after WWII and quite informative on historical events that remain relevant to today's unfortunate time. Their cafe is pricey but the museum's admission is free, staff are friendly, and their lounge is perfect for students or remote work - quiet and modern. I would love to come back for the other parts of the museum.

For understanding modern German history in Bonn, I think this is a great place; it presents the period from post-war years up to reunification in a clear, chronological way, plus it’s free to visit and very easy to reach. Unfortunately, when we went, the permanent exhibition was under renovation, so we couldn’t see the main display and only visited the temporary exhibitions. Still, the atmosphere and overall organization were nice; for those planning a visit, I’d recommend checking on the official website in advance to see whether the permanent exhibition is open.

I must see when in Bonn - definitely buy tickets in advance. When we were there, There was low traffic and the museum is currently being re-organised but it is definitely worth it. The café is nice. We had cake and coffee there which was a nice early afternoon / mid afternoon break And lots of history that you just were not really aware of. I must see when in Bonn

The exhibition about the second world war was open to visitors when I visited the museum. It was really interesting to learn more about antisemitism and what people experienced from generation to generation
Melek Y — Google review
I visited in accordance with the high rating and recommendation. A museum not on a general history of Germany, but only on the second world war and its effects. For this reason, although there were a few interesting parts, it did not satisfy me.

A really sobering exhibition, and essential visiting for anyone who considers themselves politically interested. Lots of things to think about, especially how the 'elders' of a nation holds on to ideas of the past and steer youth towards it.

I find the visit very impressive. It’s an educative place, though currently there’s only one temporary exhibition since the main exhibition is under renovation. I’m thankful that there’s English translation everywhere.

Huge space, lovely landscape, the whole family (adults, kids and dog) loved it! There is a mini-golf at the entrance, also a restaurant a bit further, playgrounds, and a dedicated big place for dogs to run off the leash.

Was a really great park! I studied abroad in Bonn for a month for the Summer of 2024 and I ran through this park several times a week, an absolutely beautiful place with several great events, bike paths, running/walking paths, and natural areas to explore. While i never took advantage of it myself it also has amazing sports related facilities. I was also able to visit the monthly flea market while I was there which was an absolute blast!

Its really really nice in here. People can do grilling, picnic dates play with friends like volleyball, badminton, football, inline/roller skating, riding a bike, going for a walk playing fetch with your dog, skateboard, and many more. There are lots of activities you could do. Its a big park i would say. There is even a restaurant with a restroom and playground for kids. Every sunday a lot of people are there. There are trashcans you will see everywhere to prevent dirty park which ivery nice

Wonderful park for a wee walk, to relax and listen to nature. The Japanese garden is nice, but it was very busy. Lot's of people out and about, but it didn't felt overcrowded. We enjoyed our visit there....

Despite paying for two hours and attempted to exit in those two hours. Called for help on machine and no answer

Perfect parking

(Translated by Google) It's a sufficiently large parking lot. You can only pay with cash, and only bills up to 20 euros are accepted. I think this is a problem, especially for foreign visitors who are used to paying by card. Hence, one star less.
