Clean beach, good restaurant (a little overpriced if you ask me), need to be a little careful with water as there are a lot of big stones underwater.

You wouldn't be able to get close to it unless you book an excursion beforehand. Other than that is quite charming

The lighthouse is falling apart, the access to the lake is blocked by ugly buildings. Rubbish is all over the place, local authorities obviously busy with something else but looking after the surrounding area!!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The World War II monument on the shores of Lake Radka. The unknown martyr fires the soldiers and civilians who died in the Soviet-German war. The overall design of the monument is simple and the scale is not large. Although it is remote, there are still many people who come to worship and remember the martyrs.
Mr.杜 — Google review
Everyone visiting St Petersburg should go to Lake Ladoga along the green belt of glory. I booked via Marina Wilson tours at Christmas. It's extremely bleak on the lake and gives a small sense of how difficult the conditions were. The museum next to the monument is impressive, as is the diorama museum on the way back to St Petersburg
HL R — Google review
The monument is beautiful especially at night when the fire illuminates surroundings

Monument at edge of Lake Ladoga. A place of pilgrimage for runners every January who participate in the Road of Life marathon. Peaceful views of Lake Ladoga.

Konno-Dramaticheskiy Teatr "Veleso"

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
Theaters
(Translated by Google) Of course, as a horse lover, I went there purposefully, to catch a glimpse of a horse in the theater. This place has a lot to offer. Especially what megacities lack so much... This theater is a different art. This is unity with nature. When you are in the auditorium, you are not surrounded by concrete walls, but surrounded by nature: trees, sun, sky. The horses here don’t seem to perform tricks, but here they know how to be in the herd, go on stage and stop where necessary and leave. The horses here really complement the picture and even play roles. They are not tortured, they are not thin, they are calm and well-fed as they should be, which is very important for any horseman. Just go once and you will understand what it is.

(Translated by Google) 1) There is a real lack of a manager. No one greets the guests, the gates are closed, you stand and watch the actors chatting about their own things somewhere in the distance. Try chatting at the entrance. Frozen and tired guests participate in lighting candles for the surroundings, pouring fruit juice for all guests, and setting the table. Please do not force guests to work. Please, establish an organization, students succeed at tourist rallies, why do people with a cultural education have problems with this? 2) There is a real lack of director. An actor can be a genius as much as he wants, but without proper direction, you have to take his word for it. The extras have their own party. If the play is about the solstice day and the traditions of your ancestors, tell us about that, and not about how you, poor unfortunate soul, hitched a ride to the lakes in the Omsk region. There is a connection, but it is very ephemeral. Please do not make the performance a skit a la a meeting with subscribers. Please give the audience a break from you, bring some variety. Although this is an immersive performance, it is a performance. But in reality it’s a complete mess. Students in college can do it, why do people with acting education have problems with this? 3) You take guests around the industrial zone, AROUND THE INDUSTRIAL AREA! You pick up unfamiliar marginalized individuals on the street and take them to your theater as a spectator! You burn a scarecrow on the theater grounds, and there are wires all around, but there is no fire extinguisher. Please take care of safety precautions! Please take care of fire safety precautions! Okay, leading people through puddles - we ourselves made a mistake and came, but the rest is on your conscience! Half of the spectators were late for you because they got lost, what is the probability that firefighters or an ambulance will arrive?! Oh, and one more thing. The fact that the artistic director is sitting on a horse does not make the theater equestrian. I have a cat, but that doesn’t mean I’m Zapashny or Kuklachev. I am a person who paid and was disappointed with the price of a ticket to the Mariinsky Theater. There are also advantages. Fantastically delicious porridge with venison and a very cute puppy.

(Translated by Google) I saw a story about the theater several times on the Culture channel. Since I only saw it in absentia, I choose the average rating. I was surprised that all the theater participants talk about this place as a breath of freedom and about the director as very democratic, etc. But the interview reads the opposite, very authoritarian! Beautiful and shiny horses. Well done! I was especially pleased that the report talked about the “free horses” concept. Evgeny T. has a peculiar dialect. After watching it, I remembered where I heard it from. And I remembered the hero “Bear Jap”, he! I didn’t know who the performer was before. Evgeniy, Mishka is very visible in you! :). :).

(Translated by Google) I really like it. Been there several times already. The child is absolutely delighted. Why four, and not 5. This most likely does not relate to the actors themselves or the productions, but purely to comfort. My friends, the toilet. Maybe I'm some kind of snicker? But this is definitely a minus. The toilet needs to be addressed. Second. If it’s slushy, you’re afraid to drive, you’re afraid of getting stuck on the road. In winter, you can't get the car out without help. All! This is where the disadvantages end, and I repeat, these are all minor disadvantages, considering the joy and emotions that the actors leave behind. We will be here again and again. I recommend it to everyone - you won't regret it. If you are traveling with small children, they will simply be delighted.

Performances, no matter whether for children or adults, give an incredible feeling of flight, the joy of being, some kind of unity of everyone and everything and the understanding that happiness is simple. Being closer to nature, to each other is happiness.

(Translated by Google) I love cats very much. I’ve been to the Republic of Cats on the street several times. Yakubovich in St. Petersburg, which is a branch of the Cat Museum in Vsevolzhsk. And so I decided to visit this Museum itself. The bus ride is about an hour one way if there are no traffic jams. The museum shares a small two-story house with a veterinary clinic. There are only nine cats. The exhibits of the museum are all kinds of cat figurines, household items with cat images, etc. The oak tree near Lukomorye is very nice, around which several toy cats and a live cat population walk in a chain. There is a model of a room with a mirrored ceiling, in which mischievous cats were in charge, there is such a funny mess there. But the general impression is that this Museum is a branch of the Republic of Cats, and not vice versa. It seemed to me that there are not many visitors here. They probably saw everything a long time ago, but it’s a very long way to go from St. Petersburg. Therefore, the Museum probably doesn’t have much money, the courtyard area is unkempt, and the house is old. This is probably why there are few cats living in the Museum. Try to feed them and provide them with daily needs if your income is modest. For some reason I feel sorry for everyone - both the cats and the employees. When visiting branches in St. Petersburg, I never had such a feeling. Come and support a good cause!

Pavlovskiy Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Pavlovskiy Park is a sprawling 18th-century landscape surrounding a palace-turned-museum, boasting English-style gardens, water features, and classical-style buildings like the Apollo Colonnade and the Temple of Friendship. Spanning over 600 hectares, it's renowned as one of Europe's finest landscape parks. During summer, the park blooms with diverse flowers and offers families a perfect place for leisurely walks.
Magnificent place with intricate ceilings, beautiful in laid floors, spectacular chandeliers and amazing art work. Each room more grand than the other. What palace would be complete without its own theater!

A very beautiful and big park where one could walk and contemplate beauty for hours. There are lots of trees that look like a wild forest but it is obvious that they are also looked after. I did not go into the museums so can't say about them.

A park that my family loves to walk during the summer. Our trip out this weekend was a bit early in the season and the weather was a bit chilly. During the summer that gardens are full or different kinds of flowers. There are even parts of the park where a person can go and lay out in the grass, a true luxury in Russia. Be sure and bring some nuts as there are many hungry squirrels who will gladly come get them out of your hand. This is a lot of fun for kids.

The Hermitage Pavilion is a stunning 18th-century stuccoed palace that offers guided tours of its opulent, gilded apartments. Visitors are drawn to the lavish palaces, ornate churches, and extensive museums with millions of exhibits in St. Petersburg. The city's renowned hospitality and magnificent suburban residences and parks make it a top choice for tourists.
Super kind workers and police men there, I’ve been in the E.Palace for 3 times and now the first time in the garden! Whats a trip surprise!! Amazing building with sufficient dining zone!

Absolutely beautiful place and very interesting excursion, but only in Russian language. You have to stay in a queue and pay separately for it about 400 roubles for adults and 100 for children. You can see the amazing mechanical lifting tables in action, but make sure to ask to see that, as they have have separate excursions with and without the show.

Start with it! And make it to the lifting table session. At the beginning of the tour you will watch a video which is very helpful to understand Catherine’s palace. I am so impressed by this Hermitage!

History Museums
The Memorial Lyceum Museum is a vast complex consisting of six buildings that offer a deep dive into literary and cultural history. Visitors can explore the museum's exhibits and learn about the prestigious Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoe Selo, which operated from 1811 to 1843 and counted 286 graduates during its existence.
See where Aleksander Pushkin wrote his first poems as he studied in this Liceum 1811-1817.

Sad to say, we could not get in as it was too late in the day, but surely we would as it's a gateway to understand their literature and culture.

(Translated by Google) An interesting memorial museum dedicated to the childhood years and studies at the Imperial Lyceum of the great Russian poet. He was, of course, a very contradictory personality despite his undeniable talent. The work of Alexander Pushkin is our national treasure. The entrance ticket prices are high in my opinion. 800 rubles with excursion service. The management seems to be interested in making money from tourists. Even for disabled children there is no free entry. Groups of visitors come one after another. Like a conveyor belt.

(Translated by Google) We didn’t take tickets in advance, we arrived and actually took a live tour for the near future, so we had to wait about an hour. But this is not scary, since the museum is located in the center and you can take a walk, drink coffee, etc. It is possible to take an audio guide, but I read somewhere that they recommend a live one. We didn’t regret it at all. I definitely recommend visiting the museum; there is a special atmosphere here.

The museum has a cloakroom, toilet and souvenir shop. Entrance only with masks (Original) The Englishman Cameron, who arrived in Russia in 1779, began to implement Catherine II’s plan to create a collective image from Greek and Roman masterpieces of architecture. The gallery received its name in 1885, when art historian and bibliographer Petrov, in one of his articles in the magazine “Architect”, called this outstanding building “Cameron Gallery”. (Translated by Google) Catherine the Great built herself a “nest” not for holidays, but for solitude, leisurely walks and philosophical conversations. To translate her plans into stone, Catherine “supplied” from Italy the Scottish architect Charles Cameron, who was in love with Ancient Rome. He came to Russia, got married and lived here until his death. The Scotsman had an unbearable character for the crowned customers: he really didn’t like it when they interfere in the process. Catherine endured it because their tastes coincided. The famous Cameron Gallery, decorated with busts of ancient philosophers, is the Empress’s favorite architectural work. Construction has just begun, and she is already writing to Voltaire: “I have taken possession of Master Cameron, who is imbued with the study of the ancients... He and I are making a garden with terraces here in Tsarskoe Selo, with baths below and a gallery above. It will be lovely!” And sure enough, it turned out to be a beauty: a light, floating upper part of the building with a long colonnade that rests on a powerful, deliberately rough base made of Pudost stone. What kind of stone is this, you ask? This is calcareous tuff, which was mined near the Sarskoye village, near the village of Pudost. Many palaces and temples in St. Petersburg are lined with this tuff, the columns of the Kazan Cathedral, for example. Cameron built “cold baths” on the ground floor of the building. Above them is actually a gallery. It is filled with light and is completely different from the main palace, but without it it would look heavy and archaic, but together they highlight each other favorably. I was amazed by the busts on the terrace of the gallery, at first I thought that they were modern: they look so original and in tune with our time - light, completely surreal, barely touching the pedestal! But no, these are real works by masters of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, cast in bronze in 1780–1790. All survived and are standing where Cameron placed them. There is a marvelous flower garden all around, views of indescribable beauty... there would be, if not for the huge mass of Chinese groups that filled everything. Also, a kind of flower garden).

Attraction
Catherine Palace is an 18th-century Baroque palace located in Tsarskoye Selo, where the Russian royal family spent their summers. It was originally a small cozy palace built by Catherine I for warm summer months. Later, Elizabeth ordered the construction of another palace known for its parties and dances. Designed by Johann-Friedrich and renovated by architects like Bartolomeo Rastrelli and Charles Cameron, the palace reflects Russian monarchy's grandeur.
An 18th Century Palace build somewhat away from the main city. It was being used as a summer retrieve palace for the Royal family. The palace has huge beautiful gardens surrounding the palace. Palace itself is built in light blue and white color. The palace building is quite wide giving a very impressive grand look. We had bought the tickets online hence we did not have to wait in line for tickets. It is a must to get a guide to visit the palace. Once inside the palace, it is so grand that you get mesmerized. Russian government has spent many years to renovate it completely. All floors, furniture, roof paintings and the elaborate gold decorations on the walls have been completely re-done to perfection. The amber room, re-done completely, is worth visiting. This is a not to miss attraction.

A beautiful blue white palace, the details are so stunning and well maintained. There are some areas reserved for special ticket. It is good that public transport can reach there, using Yandex app will give you the directions.
Gunruthai C — Google review
The entrance to Catherine Park + Palace entrance was surprisingly expensive at 2,500 rubles per person, with no discounted rates for seniors or teenagers. For a family of four, the total came to 10,000 rubles; significantly higher than the 1,000 to 1,500 rubles per person stated on various online sources. We were quite shocked by the difference, but having traveled an hour from the city center, we decided to proceed with the purchase to make the most of our visit. Catherine Park is an absolutely beautiful place to visit vast, serene, & filled with breathtaking scenery. The park grounds are incredibly wide, offering plenty of space to wander, relax, and enjoy the fresh air. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours strolling through its gardens, lakes, and open spaces without feeling rushed. However, when it comes to food & coffee, the options inside are very limited. There are no luxurious cafés or high quality restaurants on site, & it’s difficult to find anything kosher or Muslim friendly. I would recommend bringing your own snacks or eating before you come. When you buy your ticket (it took us around 45 mns to buy the tickets on site) you’ll be assigned a time slot to enter Catherine Palace itself usually about two hours after your purchase. Even though we were lost in communication and didn’t understand much (we used sign language and translation from our side, we then thought is actually a good system, as it gives you enough time to explore the park & surrounding areas before your tour begins; but in our case we had another place scheduled to go after the palace, which put us on an edge where we had to shift things from our schedule in order to actually visit the palace itself. A key tip: there are two types of entry slots and two separate palace entrances. Make sure you know which entrance your ticket corresponds to, otherwise you might wait in the wrong line only to be redirected. The palace tour itself is relatively short,,, around 30–45 minutes & visitors are only shown part of the building, not the entire interior. So expect to spend much more of your day outdoors than indoors. All in all, Catherine Park is stunning & well worth a visit, especially if you enjoy beautiful landscapes and leisurely walks. Just plan ahead for food & be mindful of your palace entry details to make the most of your experience.

Beautiful place worth to visit. We did wait a bit to buy tickets and enter. The waiting time is ok but there was a lot of people and we had to stand in the sun. I do recommend to buy tickets in advance in order to avoid that. Palace is beutiful inside and out. All the lawns are neat and perfectly maintained. Tour of the palace with a guide has time and you need to apply for specific tour. There is a lot of history behind this place and tour was interesting and lot of information. Definitely worth to visit.

I come back after 8 years. The exterior and the park are really amazing, a must see. About the interior tour, re her living zone, which I did for the first time, well, I am not sure is something to be seen... First of all you will discover that almost everything was bombed or robbed during second world war, so you are looking to a replica, which is taking away all the magic from it since......since let us be honest, interiors are unreal ugly. Too much of everthing without real balance and well thought details. And when you see it as a replica, you start to think 💬 well why to remake such a kitsch interior and not even to the end (not all the rooms have been restored until the end ). Also, the guide we had was so boring, lots of details repeating over and over... In general, the visit to the interior I won't recommend it, you won't loose anything. The park yes, that is a piece of art to be seen.

A great place just a train or a bus ride from St. Petersburg. The park is beautiful and the palace tour is nice. Be prepared to wait in line for about 30 minutes to an hour since there are a lot of visitors and due to the capacity, only certain number are allowed every 15 minutes.

Catherine Park is a sprawling urban park that was once the estate of a nobleman. It features lush greenery, ponds, and walking paths. The park reflects the preferences of multiple generations of Romanovs, blending elaborate formal gardens with a picturesque landscaped park adorned with charming follies. Visitors can explore various attractions within the park for an admission fee, including the Grotto, Maids of Honour Garden, and Hanging Garden.
In keeping with all the opulence the Catherine Park is amazing again I am glad I did not have to fit the bill over the years. But a number of splendid features and it takes a long time to walk around. It took us a few hours to cover all the sites and take in the atmosphere.

Catherine Palace, it is a park in Tsarskaya Village, Russia, located 25 km southeast of St. Petersburg. Catherine Park gets its name from Catherine Palace, and the park is divided into two parts: the Garden and the English Garden. The park itself is nice, but the palace is super underwhelming inaccessible. You have to buy ticket for each small section of the palace, and it’s quite pricey as well. In addition, there is absolute no English translation, no English audio or tour guide, and the staff does not speak any English at all as well.

My family's favorite park grounds. We walk the grounds at least once a year. There are lots of fun paths for kids to explore. If you bring nuts you can also sometimes feed squirrels or chickadees. Don't forget to walk behind the palace to the left and explore some lovely gardens with statues there.

Amazing gardens. There are several pavilion to visit and they all have wildly different styles, which makes it fun. Some are available to visit with a ticket (like the amazing Cold Baths, where the Agathe Rooms are located) and some can be visited for free (like the Chinese style pavilion and the Italian Style pavilion with authentic roman mosaics from the 2nd century) Just strolling around is nice, and they are more chilled than Petergof, with lots of locals enjoying the scene.

Nestled in the heart of Russia, the Alexander Palace is a stunning example of 18th-century classical architecture that has captivated visitors for generations. Once home to Emperor Nicholas II, this exquisite palace features elegant state rooms adorned with beautiful decor and rich history. The soft yellow façade and graceful Corinthian columns create an enchanting atmosphere that reflects the refined tastes of its royal inhabitants, including Catherine II and her descendants.
Like Catherine Palace, the Alexander Palace is another must see for everyone visiting Saint Petersburg. Alexander Palace is still going through renovation, fixing damage from German occupation and Soviet neglect. A good guide should tell you about the Russian Imperial Family and especially the last Romanovs. Wheelchair users: You should also always call ahead to find out if there is wheelchair access to bars, clubs, museums, and restaurants. In most cases the answer, sadly, will be in the negative. Alternatively, assume it is inaccessible and hire a few people to lift you and your chair up the stairs, and then be sure to pay very generously for the assistance.

In September 2015, the Alexander Palace Museum was closed for restoration work. The planned deadline for restoration is mid-2020. It was founded in 1792 by order of Catherine II and was built for the wedding of her beloved grandson, Grand Duke Alexander Pavlovich (future Emperor Alexander I) with Grand Princess Elizabeth Alekseevna. In May 1796, in the last year of the Empress, the construction was completed, and on June 12, 1796, Grand Duke Alexander Pavlovich and his wife entered the new palace. Since 1904, the Alexander Palace became the permanent residence of Emperor Nicholas II, who was born here in 1868 and treated Tsarskoe Selo with special warmth. The last 13 years of the reign of the Russian emperor took place here; from here on the morning of August 1, 1917, the imperial family was sent to exile. In 1918, the Alexander Palace was opened to visitors as a state museum. The exposition included historical interiors on the first floor in the central part of the building and residential apartments of the Romanov family in the right wing of the palace.

Initially, the gates were called Kuzminskie, as they were built at the entrance to Tsarskoe Selo from the former settlement of Bolshoye Kuzmino and served as propylaea (the main entrance) to Alexander Park, until in 1895 part of its territory was used for the construction of barracks.

The gate consists of two towers connected by fence links. The towers - stone three-story pylons - were guard rooms. On the outside, the walls are lined with cast iron slabs, on which there are relief images of 30 different scenes from Egyptian mythology. On the frontal planes of the pylons there are paired figures of the god Osiris, in the form of a man in men's clothing and in a crown of papyrus leaves, on the side planes there are paired images of the goddess Maat. The upper tier depicts the goddess Isis holding a child, the god Horus, in her arms. Below, on the tiers, are ritual scenes of initiation into pharaohs. Nature & Parks
The Alexander Park, established in the 1770s and expanded by Emperor Alexander in the early 19th century, offers a serene natural setting for various recreational activities. Unlike the Catherine Park, it is overgrown with pine trees and conifers, creating a mysterious atmosphere linked to the last Tsar. The park features water bodies weaving through wild forest-like landscapes and even boasts Pushkin's famous natural spring.
Very clean and immense. I was there at the end of October. The trees are no longer leafy, there are few and for an autumn photo, you don't have the desired effect. I think it's my fault, but it'll certainly be better in winter. On the other hand, it's really beautiful.

A truly beautiful park that reminded me a lot of the palace gardens in Potsdam. Although the park is located next to the Katharinenpark, it is much quieter and you can enjoy the green of nature.

Anichkov Bridge, a historic structure dating back to 1841 and reconstructed in 1908, is adorned with iconic horse tamer sculptures. Situated on Nevsky Prospect, it offers picturesque views of the Fontanka River and is surrounded by former imperial palaces. The bridge's iron railings feature intricate patterns of mermaids and seahorses.
My favourite bridge. Stunning. I could stare at the statues for hours. When the Fontanka froze I went and walked on the ice and it looks beautiful from the ice. Equally stunning on the pavement or by boat in warm weather. Highly recommend the trip up Nevsky to see it

Anichkov Bridge is a must-see in St. Petersburg. The stunning horse statues, historic atmosphere, and great views of the Fontanka River make it perfect for photos and walks. Especially beautiful at sunset.
Alex D — Google review
Decorative bridge in the place where Fontanka river meets Nevsky Prospekt. The bridge itself is not that long, though, some tens of meters. But views at and around and statues also are definitely worth a visit. Especially during the light nights.
Juha N — Google review
This is a famous bridge in St. Petersburg that crosses the Fontanka River along Nevsky Prospekt. It is a relatively short crossing that is decorative and features four landmark sculptures of horse tamers. Constructed in 1841-42, the bridge features appealing iron railings. However, the highlight is seeing the four large horse tamer sculptures, which were installed at the two ends of the bridge between 1849-50. These are individually impressive works of art, particularly for those who enjoy viewing sculptures and statues. Note: The Anichkov Bridge and its sculptures are particularly nice to see when viewed from the opposite bank to the pink coloured Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace. If you position yourself correctly, you can capture all in the same frame, allowing some decent pictures to be taken. In the end, we liked the Anichkov bridge. This is a quick attraction to view and enjoy if you find yourself in this area of St. Petersburg during your visit to the city.

Small, rich, incredible museum showcasing the otherworldy riches of the zar's. The center pieces are numerous Fabergé eggs, each of them an absolute masterpiece, accompanied by jewels, precious china and earthwares as well as gold and silver decorations and icon encrusted with precious stone.

One of the most beautiful museums to visit in St Petersburg. The fabrezé eggs are jaw dropping nothing like any another jewellery you've seen before. Everyone has to place their coat in wardrobe and the protection on shoes, to keep the place clean. I likes this place a bit crowdy good for kids even for adults who likes fishes . Variety of fishes across the globe are there. For each fish they maintained proper aura with sound effects. I likes star fish as this my first experience. Piranha was available. Sharks are there. Penguins and seals are I the last. Jelly fish was amazing and snake fish alsi available. The cave was amazing there is a conveyer belt just stand on that and it will take you through that cave made of glass and you will feel like small shark is going to attack you as they are swimming close to your head. Just was the best part of oceanarium . Any tourist must visit this place. Hope this will help you.
Parveen S — Google review
Very good place in St Ptb. It is almost as good as the aquarium in Moscow. The only bad stuff is that there is not enough distance between people, and sometimes people is too near.
Laura S — Google review
Worth going with kids. Even if there are posters with “no photoshoot has with light” there are authorized staff who will take professionally photos of you and your family. During shows like feeding a shark there are a hole lot of people and you have to take your sit beforehand. Otherwise you won’t be able to see anything. Observing area is very very small. Some fishes are in not so good condition from my point of view (i don’t have any knowledge in tho field though), but their tanks are to small to maneuver. Makes me sad 😞 Souvenir shop is full of seashells.

Nestled in the heart of St. Petersburg, the Alexandrinsky Theatre stands as a testament to Russia's rich theatrical heritage, having been established by Empress Elizabeth. This historic venue is not only one of the oldest operating theaters in the country but also serves as the National Drama Theatre of Russia. Designed by renowned architect Karlo Rossi, its stunning architecture captivates visitors even before they step inside.
A beautiful and well maintained old theatre. We had difficulty in finding tickets online, it looked as if all seats were sold, however we went directly to the box office at the theatre and managed to get fantastic seats 4 rows from the stage. I think that many tickets sold online are through agents who are only given a selection, so don't despair if you can't find anything, even on the theatres website. If you attend the 1pm performance with children, know that many Russian families take snacks of bread and fruit so feel free to do the same, in the passages. The balcony seats to the left and right have very limited views and most people were standing. See photo for example. The performance of Swan Lake was amazing and magical.

One of the richest ethnographic collections I’ve had the pleasure of seeing. Their collection focused on the many cultures that made up the former USSR. It was not life painted on a canvas or photographs, but the actual clothing, shoes, costumes, utensils, raw materials, crafts, and lifestyles of the people. They took you inside their homes and gave you a glimpse of daily life. The museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions - together giving a profound perspective on humanity in our global world.

The Savior on the Spilled Blood is a stunning 1880s church adorned with gleaming mosaics and marble, featuring colorful onion domes. Designed by Russian architect Hronihin, it boasts a cross-shaped floor plan with a cylinder-shaped penthouse and a correct dome. The semicircular colonnade consists of 94 columns facing the main street and encircling the square, where monuments of Russian commanders stand.
The interior of the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood is absolutely breathtaking. Stepping inside invites a moment of reflection — you can’t help but think about how much time and effort the artists must have put into creating such intricate details, blending colors, and forming the stunning, interwoven patterns. The mosaics and decorations are awe-inspiring, and golden accents shimmer when touched by light, creating a truly mesmerizing effect. Entry is quite affordable, though the place is often crowded. It’s highly recommended to read about the church beforehand to fully appreciate the variety of rare stones used in its construction.

Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines

If you're looking for a unique and nostalgic experience in St. Petersburg, the Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines is an absolute must-visit! This compact yet vibrant museum boasts an impressive collection of over 40 vintage arcade games from the Soviet era, dating back to the 1970s. Unlike traditional museums where you can only admire artifacts, here you have the chance to actually play these retro machines and relive some childhood memories.
I loved that they give you coins to play with the arcades. Next to every arcade there is a description of the game and the year of release. Nearly everything is written in english and russian. There are also consoles such as sega and Nintendo64. Upon arrival you are giving short instructions. Possibly to get drinks as well.

A really fun place for kids. It’s still a great place for an adult to visit, but you’ll see everything pretty quick. From Soviet-era arcade machines, smells from that time, and Soviet cartoons playing in a room. You can see (and smell) what life was like for kids during this era. Some of the games where hard to play while others were fun enough to play a second time. A good place to burn an hour or two!

Can't recommend it highly enough. Really fun way to spend an hour or two, playing old Soviet-era arcade machines, which have all been lovingly saved and restored. The space is cool, the games are fun, each has a great description of the maker, the design and the game mechanics in Russian and in English (slightly abridged). There's a cool cafe and Soviet era soda machines that dispense Kvass and other drinks. Entry is 450rub per person, for which you get a bunch of coins to play the machines.

Even though the name of the museum is what originally hooked us, the name actually sells it a little short. While they do have a huge unique selection of Soviet-Era arcade machines, they also have many other things from that era including a unique exhibit where you can smell things from that time, listen to things, try drinks, etc. How the arcade portion works is you pay admission and receive about 15 Soviet era coins to use in the machines. I believe you can buy more as well. They also come in a unique match box to hold while you play. “Technically” you are supposed to turn in the remainder coins as you leave since they aren’t in circulation any more, but no one really seems to care if you want to keep one as a souvenir. They also have free Wifi, coffee and snacks, clean toilets and a small selection of things to purchase. The selection of arcade machines is good, although they aren’t always in perfect repair, but that is part of the fun!

I knew nothing about arcade games from CCCP times, but this was two hours of quality time. With your ticket you get a matchbox with bunch of original coins from soviet time. You can use them to play any of the games. 1 coin = 1 play. 90% of the games are in very good working condition, other ones are under maintenance. Staff is very patient to explain to you how the museum works, coins, games, etc. Must visit if you are in St. Peterburg.

A fun place to go and visit if in St Petersburg. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, gave a good explanation of all the things there. Some of the machines weren't working, which was a bit of a shame, but can't be helped. Was interesting as an outsider to see all the games that were played in the USSR. If you're a gamer and in the area, I would recommend going - very cool as well to use the old Soviet coins to pay for things.

Super cool place, with a coffee shop atmosphere. Seeing these machines and getting to play them was a trip back in time. I loved the machines with the vacuum tubes that could light up as numbers for your score. I definitely recommend getting a soda from the old Soviet soda fountain. The cream soda was actually incredibly delicious.
Nicholas W — Google review
It is nice to see the adults playing these games. I also loved how they give the coins for machines. Inside a match box. It is a bit small and you may need to wait for machines. You enjoy more if you go with your friends.

Kazan Cathedral

Museums
Kazan Cathedral, designed by Russian architect Hronihin, is an elegant church that began its construction in 1801 and was completed in 1811. The cathedral features a cross-shaped floor plan with a cylinder-shaped penthouse above the middle and a grand dome on the top floor. The semicircular colonnade boasts 94 columns facing the main street and encircling the square, where monuments of Russian commanders Kutuzov and Barclay de Tolly stand.
This is a must visit place in Saint Petersburg! Extremely beautiful architecture, very clean inside. This is one of the few sightseeing places that you can visit for free, no ticket required!!! On the other hand, this is a functional orthodox church. Hence, all women are required to wear a scarf or a cap over their head. Inside everything is as beautiful as from outside. Good place for taking a lot of pictures.

An enormous Cathedral that is going to leave you with so many positive emotions. The building breathes love and peace. If you have a chance to visit this place, do not waste it.

Can give a 6-star review if I could. This divine place, yes, divine for believers or not, Kazan Cathedral was one of the best choice to visit in St Petersburg. A mini Vatican as dubbed, our jaws were dropped all the way from it's gallery outdoors, then throughout the whole visit. Think this description has already got the interest for most people. Different to the other cathedrals in St Petersburg, Kazan has her own characters that is difficult to describe. The gallery of huge columns, the marble facets, granite floors of the size of a large public square, all gave mind-blowing visuals to any visitor stepped inside. The exhibits are well planned and placed that numerous docents could lead their tourists groups without interfering too much to other visitors like us. The besiege of the city during WWII was another key story we could learn more from. The endurance and hardship human can display is remarkable and incredible. Anyone loving art and culture will find this place fascinating and we just could not get enough of it. Even there were over a hundred of visitors inside the main chamber, we could still be awed and feel the solemnity of the church. It's like magic indeed. One will not regret going, trust your instinct.

It turned out to be one of the most peaceful and beautiful places of my trip. The architecture is grand, with the huge curved colonnade and stunning entrance that immediately catches your eye. Even from outside, it looks very majestic. Inside, the atmosphere is very calm and spiritual. The interiors are beautifully decorated with icons, paintings, and soft lighting that gives a very serene feeling. I spent some quiet time just walking around and soaking in the peaceful vibe. It’s also located right on Nevsky Prospekt, so it’s easy to visit while exploring the city. For me, it was a lovely experience and definitely worth stopping by if you’re in St. Petersburg. A beautiful cathedral with a very calming energy.

Such a beautiful, grand process. A truly stunning church Kazan Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, on Nevsky Prospekt. The church was built between 1801 and 1811 under the direction of architect Andrey Voronikhin and its design was inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, featuring a large colonnade and a large central dome. The interior of the church is decorated with beautiful mosaics and icons, making it a must-see cultural and religious site. The photos don't really do the church's exterior justice, they only capture a portion of it, you have to come and see it for yourself.
Huy T — Google review
While it seems it gets less attention than other churches in town, this gem located in the Nevsky prospect is a must see.

The Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg is a magnificent neoclassical masterpiece, with its grand colonnaded façade and towering dome. It's a must-see landmark in the city, and here's why: Exterior: * Architectural grandeur: The cathedral's imposing exterior is a testament to its importance and beauty. The white façade and colonnades create a striking contrast against the surrounding cityscape. * Historical significance: Built in the early 19th century, the cathedral commemorates the victory over Napoleon and houses the tomb of Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov. Interior: * Spiritual atmosphere: The cathedral's interior is a serene space with beautiful frescoes and icons. It's a place of worship and reflection for many. * Religious relics: The cathedral houses a copy of the famous icon of Our Lady of Kazan, which is a significant pilgrimage site for Orthodox Christians. Additional points: * Free admission: The cathedral is free to enter, making it accessible to everyone. * Guided tours: Guided tours are available for those who want to learn more about the history and architecture of the cathedral. Overall: The Kazan Cathedral is a stunning example of Russian neoclassical architecture and a significant religious site. Its impressive exterior and serene interior make it a must-visit attraction in St. Petersburg.

The Pushkin Apartment Museum is a captivating tribute to one of Russia's most celebrated writers, Alexander Pushkin. Nestled within his actual residence, the museum showcases meticulously preserved furnishings and decor that reflect the opulent lifestyle of the mid-1800s. Visitors can immerse themselves in Pushkin's literary world by exploring exhibits featuring his renowned works like 'Eugene Onegin' and 'The Queen of Spades.' Additionally, the museum offers insights into his life through handwritten manuscripts and illustrations.
Wonderful place to know more about the last days of this wonderful poet. It took around 1hour to see the whole museum. They provide audio guide in several languages and it is included in the entrance ticket, which is super cool because you can hear the whole history of Pushkin's last days.

What a wonderful place to learn about Russia’s greatest poet Alexander Pushkin. This museum is located at the poet’s apartment. Visitors can only enter the museum with a tour guide or an audio guide paid for at the entrance. Inside the museum, visitors learn in detail about Pushkin and the last four months of his life and his tragic deaths.
Sarah M — Google review
I was on a guided tour for this one. The guide told the very compelling story of Pushkin and his life estranged by the politics of that era. Beautifully maintained, in a VERY nice area.
Charlie C — Google review
I love Pushkin. I love the museum. Rude staff, they are bit aggressive when making comments that you stay too long, too close, don't touch, don't go there, its not allowed to step on the carpet... I was unlucky to get inside along with college students. They seemed to be bored of being there and I "enjoyed" a river of rude comments of those old ladies. Nightmare! There must be a better way to protect exhibit. And take audioguade, its better...
Milena T — Google review
Pushkin was a beloved Russian author, who died from fighting a duel. The museum is of his apartment and artifacts. You wear a headset that guides you thru the different parts of the building. It also tells about him and his family, and the events leading up to his death. You can't take photos inside, but there is a lovely garden, with a nice statue of him. Many people have there photograph taken in front of the statue.

the staff were very kind, and this place can educate you a lot on Pushkin's life. you will be able to see his handwritten work and illustrations, along with his old furniture. I have lived in Saint Petersburg for almost a decade now, and it was very interesting to learn about the culture, and go more in depth and learn about one of the greatest poets. I recommend for any tourists, since it isn't crowded, and you can get an audio guide with many languages. prices are also suitable. it is free for students.
Maya O — Google review
I suggest you to come here and see the last place where Alexander Pushkin leaved before his last duel. Especially this place is good in winter, because it will add you feelings of that time. You'll be impressed by huge number of things that were saved till now. And, of course, you'll get something new from the life of the great poet, who made too much, but lived not enough.

The Alexander Column, located in the heart of St. Petersburg's Palace Square, is a towering monolith commemorating Russia's victory over Napoleon's France. Designed by French architect Auguste de Montferrand and completed in 1834, it stands as one of the world's tallest monuments at 50 meters. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the gulf, port, and iconic landmarks such as St. Isaac's golden dome and the Winter Palace.
Great place to meet up in the city center. Right outside the Hermitage Museum. Great place to hang out.

Great meeting place to start your adventure into the hermitage. Costumed characters Expect a good tip for photographs. Respect the local custom. They’re trying to make a living too.

It's very likely that you will visit the hermitage meuseum if you are in st petersburg. This monument is right outside the museum and it's quite impressive given that the massive column is standing alone on it's own weight without being fixed with any mechanism. The area is very scenic and perfect for photography. Definitely should check it out.

Beautiful one block granite column, in the middle of the palace square facing the winter Palace and Hermitage, many musicians are performing there day and night
Moustafa A — Google review
An impressive column of marble, carved from a single block that is prominent in Palace Square. Notice the detailed relief sculptures on the 4 sides of the pedestal. Apparently, it's not fixed down, just stands erect under it's own weight!
Vincent O — Google review
One of the interesting things to see at Palace Square in St. Petersburg is the Alexander Column which is situated in the centre of the square between the Winter Palace and the Building of the General Staff. The monument was constructed between 1830-34 by French architect Auguste de Montferrand and is named after Emperor Alexander I who ruled Russia from 1801-1825. It is red granite and 24.5 meters tall, topped by a statue figure of an angel holding a cross. The pedestal is quite decorative with bas-reliefs on each side. The column is flanked by two lamp posts and there is a cast iron railing around the monument. Collectively, it makes for an attractive monument arrangement. In the end, if you enjoy monuments, this is a nice one to see. You can take nice pictures by standing right in front of the General Staff building. Here you see the Alexander Column in front of the Winter Palace building.
