Cartoixa d'Escaladei

Mentioned on
3 lists
Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Cartoixa d'Escaladei is a historic Carthusian monastery founded in 1194, now transformed into a museum complex featuring cloisters, gardens, and churches. Nestled beneath the Monsant mountain range, the location offers breathtaking views. Despite ongoing reconstruction efforts that have sparked some debate, it remains an intriguing destination for delving into the region's cultural and wine-making heritage.
Definitely worth a visit. The grounds are beautiful and the mountains on the background are jaw dropping. I would recommend to have lunch at Rebost de la Cartoixa next door afterwards.
Daniela G — Google review
Beautiful, peaceful place, very much worth the 5 EUR entry ticket. There is also ample parking space.
Jenny — Google review
What an amazing place to visit. Rich in history and not well known. The ruins are beautifully preserved. A lot of restoration work is carried out. Entry fee is only 5 euros. The charterhouse was founded in 1194 and Escaladei was the first Carthusian Monastery on the peninsula. I really loved the arch at the entrance, it’s gorgeous. The square with the fountain in the middle is also stunning. If you in the area you should not miss it.
Ross M — Google review
The place is quite far away from anywhere and you must access it through curly mountain roads, yet worth it and recommended if you combine the visit with a wine tasting and lunch in the Scala Dei cellars!
Marc L — Google review
So this place is very out of the way, great if you want to visit somewhere less touristic. Entry fee is €5. The good: The restored cloister, they did a good job on it, it looks well, although parts of it were boarded up which didn't look good. The monk's cell, they restored one of them so you can get an idea of how they lived, you could see the living areas and a small cloister with plants, it was really quiet and I liked imagining how they lived. The bad: A lack of history, there are some information panels but I would have liked some more historical background. It looks a bit like a building site, I wish there were more open spaces open to the public instead of wired fences. Some of the buildings were renovated a bit, basically just a roof, they seemed very bare on the inside, no info, furniture or details. I recommend this place if you are in the area and looking for something to do
Johnjoe N — Google review
We visited Cartoixa d'Escaladei in late January 2023. We were surprised to find tour buses as we'd thought we were the only visitors in the region. There were about hundred or so tourists there. The ruins were much more extensive than I’d realized, and I hadn’t expected the renovation work that was in progress. They had restored some monk cells to give a sense of the monk’s everyday life: cloistered, i.e. no talking. They each had a small garden in which to grow flowers. I liked the desks with a view and the amazing history.
Lorena R — Google review
You need a car to get here. During our visit, theres a restoration going on. It was less touristy, so we could really enjoy the place. Hope to come back here again once everything is restored and no construction going on. The visit is still worth it.
Blanche L — Google review
Worth the visit- These old ruins were very cool. The drive up was just magical and serene. It’s about €3.50 to enter and you are free to walk around, check it out and take photos. There are informative panels all over explaining what happened to this monastery and showing you where things used to be. Definitely a cool experience and would highly suggest it!

Parc Samà

Mentioned on
6 lists
Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Parc Samà, located in Costa Dorada, is a 14-hectare botanical garden designed by Jose Fontsere Mestres in 1881. Originally intended as a summer residence for the Sama family, it now features a stunning lake with islands connected by suspension bridges, as well as captivating water features and wildlife. Visitors can explore the expansive grounds, which are almost the size of 34 football pitches and home to roaming peacocks.
One of the most peaceful and magical parks near Cambrils. Parc Samà offers an amazing combination of nature, architecture, and animals — perfect for a calm walk, a family day, or unique photo opportunities. The highlight for us was seeing a peacock sitting high up in a tree — something you don’t see every day! The deer are very calm and friendly, and we even caught a few beautiful moments with parrots near the palm trees. Don’t miss the small lake and charming stone bridges — it truly feels like a hidden paradise. Highly recommend for couples, families with kids, or just anyone looking to disconnect in nature.
D K — Google review
It’s a beautiful botanical garden with some animals and a nice old manor in old colonial style. There is also a museum about traditional vermouth and oil production. Staff were very friendly. Small children up to 6 years don’t have to pay for entry. I recommend this place for a day trip with young kids.
Hendrik O — Google review
Stunning! Absolutely beautiful place, feels like you’ve gone back in time with so many picturesque places. You can get very close and indeed feed the animals. We got here for opening time (10am) and spent a couple of hours here. Nice and quiet for us but as we were leaving a lot of people were turning up so I’d recommend getting there early. Plenty of parking if you’ve rented a scooter or car.
Danny T — Google review
Beautiful, peaceful and full of charm – perfect for families! 🌿🦌 Parc Samà was one of the highlights of our trip to Cambrils. It’s not just a park – it’s a historic botanical garden with an old-world charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The grounds are huge, with scenic walking paths, small lakes, exotic trees, elegant peacocks walking freely, turtles, deer, and other animals — our son was amazed! There’s a lovely children’s area, plenty of benches to relax, take photos, and just enjoy nature. You can easily spend 2–3 peaceful hours here. Everything is clean, calm, and beautifully maintained. The place truly feels magical — like being transported into the past. There’s a beautiful, old house on the territory, and we had the impression that someone once lived there and that it was all part of their private estate. It adds so much historical atmosphere to the whole experience. By the way, we rented a car specifically to explore special places, and Parc Samà was our very first stop. We chose it on purpose and it did not disappoint! Peaceful, picturesque, and totally worth the visit. If you’re in Cambrils – don’t miss it! Perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves nature, history, and calm vibes.
Liliia Z — Google review
Most beautiful and peaceful place I have ever visited. Stayed for 2.5 hours as there was so much to see. We bought feed from reception to feed the birds & animals. I would recommend buying at least two pots and save most for the Reindeer as you can hand feed them! Only downside was there was a very anorexic Deer which had hair loss and bad skin. I hope this raises concern for this Deer to receive medical attention.
Bethany H — Google review
Gorgeous place ,’my child was happy . Fed a parrot got awesome photos. The buses are quite different topic , so better move with car (if you have)
Ifka S — Google review
Came here after we’d seen most of Salou and wanted a bit of a change. Parc Samà is a lovely mix of botanic gardens and a historic estate—beautiful lawns, ponds, waterfalls, bridges, and a big old house you can admire from the outside. We fed the deer, chickens, and peacocks (you can buy food at the entrance) and had a look around the little olive oil museum, which was something different. There’s a small café for coffee and ice pops—perfect on a hot day—and a gift shop too. It’s €14 per adult so a bit on the pricey side, but with free parking, loads to explore, and a peaceful vibe, it’s well worth it. Great spot for families or anyone looking to escape the buzz of Salou for a while.

Platja del Regueral

Outdoor Activities
Beaches
Located in the charming coastal town of Cambrils, Platja del Regueral is a popular family-friendly beach destination along Costa Dorada. This 1.2-kilometer stretch of coastline offers safe and easily accessible sandy shores, making it ideal for families and tourists. The lively atmosphere of the beach is complemented by a bustling promenade lined with restaurants and bars, while nearby quieter beaches like Playa de Vilafortuny provide a more serene environment surrounded by natural landscapes.
Calm waves, very shallow beach, perfect for small ones🐥Beach house serves properly made cocktails and food, in another level than in Salou. Less tourists, more rich adult tourists than in Salou. Very nice sophisticated beach town.
W. O — Google review
Very lovely beach with shallow water, we went in August and the sea was lovely and warm. The port side is fairly quiet and was able to rent two sunbeds under a canopy for €20. Lots of restaurants and shops selling ice creams, etc. Relaxed atmosphere.
Michelle S — Google review
Beautiful and clean. Perfect for children. The big minus is that they took out the showers from the beach. I understand that is an issue with the water in Spain, but at least leave the small ones where you can take sand off your feet. That's the minimum for a beach in a position like that. You are not in the wilderness.
Ciprian F — Google review
Great for nicnacs shopping and beautiful beach, the port is close by with lots of stunning yachts, lots of accessible shops, eateries, for anyone with disabilities and great for families. The area is so incredibly clean as well, very idyllic.

Decent estrella beer on tap . Girlfriend wasn't too keen on her cocktail. Nice place

A good place, we took Transat and place to sit. It cost 10€ per day, even if you stay 1h or 12. But it is worthy

Beautiful beach and easy walk from Sol Port Cambrils hotel where we stayed when it was called Tryp Port Cambrils. It was great to go to the beach in the morning and then drive to Port Aventura in the afternoon. A fabulous beach to take your young family and eat ice cream on the beach.

Devinssi Winery

Mentioned on
1 list
Winery
Food & Drink
Devinssi Winery is a small and authentic winery located in the Priorat region of Spain. The winery offers an amazing tour with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide named Jordi, who makes the experience lively and entertaining for visitors. During the tour, guests have the opportunity to taste six different wines, all of which are delicious and well-crafted. In addition to providing a great tasting experience, Devinssi Winery also offers shipping options to customers in the United States.
Our sunset wine tasting with Jordi was a beautiful experience! He collected us (including our dog) from the town and drove us to a picnic table set on a hillside in the middle of the vines, with stunning views of the vineyards around. The wines were delicious, varied and each with its own story. Jordi was able to point to the places where the grapes had grown. He was excellent company, and has a level of English better than a native! I would fully recommend this tour and hope to go back one day!
Lucy K — Google review
Jordi and the Divinssi team are true professionals in every sense of the word. Our tour in early November was a real treat! We had the luxury of touring the winery and the fields, with a tasting in the fields. Jordi retrieved us from town and drove us out to the vineyard in his vehicle. We talked and laughed our whole way to the vines. Once in the vineyards he pointed out the different varieties that had gone into each of the four wines we tasted. Our tasting included tasty items from the local villages (incl. ibérico ham, fuet sausage, 2 local cheeses, olives, bread, and the most amazing almonds we have ever eaten). If you are reading this review to the end, then you need to go discover the Priorat wines - and speak with Jordi!
Ken K — Google review
From moment one, Jordi makes you feel welcome. The ‘tasting room’ is the best one yet…..the wines are exclusive and yummy. The view is outstanding. This is truly a unique experience. If Jordi is available (most months of the year), wear sensible shoes & show up! Enjoy.
Helen R — Google review
A Magical Wine Tasting Experience at Sunset We visited with a group of 18 and had an unforgettable evening. The setting was stunning — overlooking the vineyard at sunset — and the wines were excellent. Jordy was a great host: friendly, informative, and passionate. A perfect mix of nature, wine, and warm hospitality!
Siska V — Google review
We had an amazing tour with Jordi. All was taken care of and the wines and nibbles tasted great. We learned a lot, he really knows how to make it a great experience adjusted to what you know so far about wines. Very recommended!
Pien B — Google review
Our visit to Devinssi Winery was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived at the Pi dels Llops in Gratallops, we were greeted warmly by Jordi, who made us feel right at home. The experience began with a scenic and informative journey through the beautiful vineyards, where Jordi expertly guided us in his van. As we drove through the picturesque landscape, he shared fascinating details about the origins and age of the vines, as well as the unique characteristics of the different plots. It was a truly enriching experience that deepened our appreciation for the winemaking process. After our vineyard tour, we returned to Gratallops to the wine house for the much-anticipated tasting. The food plate, which consisted of locally produced delicacies, was simply delicious and complemented the wines perfectly. We had the pleasure of tasting four wines in total: three outstanding reds—Nas de les Valls, Il Lia, and Rocapoll—and a refreshing mineral white, Diviño. Each wine was unique and showcased the distinct terroir of the region. The visit concluded with a tour of the cellar, where the wines are aged and bottled. We left with some of our favorite wines in hand, feeling grateful for such a memorable experience. Thank you, Jordi, for an unforgettable day!
Wessel D — Google review
My daughter and I had the most fabulous day and evening with the Cellar Devinssi! We started out with a tour of their vineyard and cellar. We continued our visit with a wonderful tasting of their fabulous wines! Earlier we had contacted Jordi about staying at their newly finished apartment for the evening and it was wonderful! Everything was clean, great bed, bathroom, and easy walk to a great dinner that evening. We had a great stay and would love to return! If you are looking to stay in the area, this was a magical day and stay that a highly recommend !!

My wife and I visited in June and Jordi took us up for a sunset wine tasting with appetizers. Beautiful views and Jordi highlighted his wines, tasting notes and the history of the local vines. Highly recommend!!

Castell de Miravet

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
The Castell de Miravet is a magnificent Romanesque fortress reconstructed by the Knights Templar and boasts breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside. Access to this spectacular castle can be achieved via a steep and winding road, or alternatively through a well-marked path within the village. Large vehicles such as motorhomes can utilise designated parking areas located nearby. The castle offers impressive panoramic views from its grounds for an entry fee of 5 (or 3 at reduced rates).
Only ruins remaining but it provide a spectacular view of the surrounding areas & river Ebro! It's located on top of a mountain so more recommended to drive, unless you're into hiking - there's both main road and a dirt path from the village below to the castle You can walk in and buy ticket, no need prior reservation
Vince D — Google review
If visiting Miravet definitely worthwhile the visit. Most of it is in ruins but still a interesting visit and definitely worth the € 5,- entrance. The walk up is fantastic and very scenic but heavy uphill if one not in good shape or difficulties in walking.
Lars I — Google review
Wonderful views, odd parking guide. There was a guy in the middle of the road denying access with a car saying it's only 12 mins walk (is not). It's a steep hike to the top and there is quite a big parking place next to the castle anyway. We returned later and went with a car which was the better choice to be able to enjoy the castle too. The castle is under renovations so entrance was only 3 euros because not all places were open.
Tuija T — Google review
Wow, Miravet Castle is like stepping into a medieval saga perched above the Ebro River! The views from the ramparts are absolutely jaw-dropping think endless rolling hills and the river winding like a silver ribbon below. I paid €5 for the ticket (totally worth it, students get it for €2!), and the climb up the tribute tower’s spiral staircase had my heart racing not just from the effort but those epic panoramas at the top. Insider tip: wear comfy shoes, the cobblestone path from the village is steep and slippery in spots. Oh, and did you know this Templar fortress was once a Moorish stronghold before the Knights transformed it in the 12th century? Save time for the pottery shops in Miravet’s old town they’re a hidden gem!
Sam L — Google review
Friendly staff, beautiful Templar castle with stunning views over Miravet. Tons of cool info about the history of the place.
Nunya N — Google review
I loved this town! We drove to the castle, which was nice but not as nice as others in the area. But, the views were incredible! I loved the river going through the town. Our friends drove the car back down, and I went took the easy walking path through the trees. I wouldn't have wanted to walk up it, but down was easy. It empties into the town, and walked down through small streets to the river. The cute mouse house had to be noted! I hear you can kayak in the river but the current looked VERY strong, so I'm not sure it's something I'm able to do. People were swimming close to the shore though. There's a small cafe where you can eat, too. Certainly come check it out!
Shannon K — Google review
Highly ridiculous. I knew that prices had risen due to inflation, but the price to enter this castle is a crime. If you are a history lover and you like to see empty castles with only stone, this is an ideal place for you. I expected there to be materials typical of the century in which construction began. Honestly, in my opinion, it's not worth it. The views are not that pretty (although I have to say that when I took the view the day was cloudy). It only took us 20 minutes to see the entire castle. The truth is, I don't understand the people who recommend visiting this place, if you know someone who recommends it, tell them that I pay a visit to the eye doctor, they really need it. In my opinion, the town looks like the set of a low-budget zombie movie. thank you very much 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼❤️
Carlaa — Google review
Not a bad castle/ruin but to pay 5 eur and can't even go to the top of the castle because it was closed, is too much. In general for 10 min you are done, so walking up the hill takes more time than to view the castle...There is WC for free and the staff was polite and English speaking. You can also go by car

(Translated by Google) The cove is beautiful, although it's a shame there was so much trash (pieces of plastic, string, even a sneaker). There was also seaweed on the shore, but you could just walk right through it. We arrived at 10 a.m. and there was plenty of space to choose from. We were able to settle down on the shore. Of course, it filled up later, but nothing out of the ordinary in the middle of August.

La Fontcalda, also known as the warm spring, is a popular destination for swimming and relaxation in a craggy ravine. Visitors can enjoy hiking and biking trails in the area. The site features a lovely warm spring and areas to bathe in the river. There's also a restaurant with friendly staff and an English menu, as well as picnic areas with tables outside. While the water may not be very hot, it offers a refreshing dip after swimming in the fresh river.
Absolutely stunning place to check out and take a dip in the refreshing waters after walking / cycling the greenways and camino. We stayed in prat de compte and took the bike up the amazing windy roads. Then We walked along to gorge and found a secluded swimming spot which was amazing. Definitely worth a venture upto.

It is a very beautiful place, but we expected a hot spring, in fact it is not really a hot spring. It is a warm spring. The temperature of the small pool beside the river has about 25° which is nice but it won’t keep you warm for long the only way to feel really warm there is to 1st jump into the cold river which I personally also enjoy. The whole surrounding is very magical and it’s an extremely beautiful place that is very rural and Chester small mountain Road Leeds there so there won’t be a lot of people usually I guess.
Elias B — Google review
Awesome drive - make sure to drive in one route and out the other to get the full experience. Decent restaurant at the site after you have bathed in the water, albeit not ‘warm spring’ as need but really pleasant all the same. Well worth a visit

Beautiful place to visit, the geology is incredible. The access road is very steep and can be tricky but we did it in our campervan and it was fine. The water is not hot but we did have a very refreshing dip 🥶. Amazing views on the way there too!!

Amazing spot, easy to drive in, ando has a restaurant with very nice people attending, the water has perfect temperature, and the view just amazing.

Lovely place to visit. A nice warm spring nearby, and areas to bathe in the river. Restaurant here has friendly staff, and menu available in english. Picnic area with tables outside. Toilets available in both the restaurant and outside. We parked at Antiga estació de Prat de Comte (old station along the via Verde) 15 minute flat walk, with a steep decline near the spring.

It's always a nice place to visit. Great for walking, hiking, biking or just for fun. There's a nice restaurant in Horta and you can also rent a bike and schedule a pick up just in case you don't want to pedal your way back.

Very informative trip, as we we're able to learn some history about the rice fields here, how the river & the ocean meet. They predict within 30 years, a lot of the river will be gone, as it will be taken over by the sea.

Very fair price, fantastic guide 's explanations about the place, interesting, safe. I would come back . Loved it.

A relaxing cruise to the sea and back takes about 1h30. The captain for most of the time tells about the Delta del Ebro, providing a very interesting insight on it from a perspective of an insider who spent most of his life there. The boat is in good condition. It's clear and well maintained. It was a real pleasure for our whole family (including the dog).

Refreshing tour by boat. The explanations and fun facts are in Spanish, so you need to master the language, but they are pertinent and interesting. The cost is 11 euros at the time of writing (summer 2016), which is quite good for a 1h30 trip.

Tortosa Cathedral

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Tortosa Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Maria, is a must-visit in Tortosa. The exterior is particularly impressive with its unique Catalan Gothic architecture and Baroque facade. Construction began in 1347 and was completed in 1757, resulting in a blend of two different architectural styles. While the interior ambiance is amazing, visitors should check for prayer times as tourists are not allowed during these times.
What an amazing find in a town i did not even know of until we visited. The cathedral is huge and worthy of a large city such as Madrid or Granada. For only €5 you get entrance to a huge number of things in addition to the massive and ornate cathedral. Well worth a visit, as is a wander around the rest of this lovely town by the river.

Garden visitor center with displays of parrots, plus a wooden enclosure for butterflies & turtles.
Good zoo with parrots, flamingo, kangaroo, capybara, ocelot, lemurs and giant turtles. Has an open space where you can feed and touch birds and turtles. Very good shady place for kids' entertainment, has a lot of obstacle courses. Parking is free, there are some snacks and a small cafe on the territory. Great attraction and fun. Very recommended for visiting with the kids.

Second visit in 3 years. Really nice place to spend time with various animals but beware the birds will sit in you and as I experienced this time pooped down my back and in my sons arm but laugh I certainly did. There’s a place to grab a drink and weekends they put in a show. The kangaroos are very nice along with the massive ginney pig looking animal and my kids smoothed them & they just loved there’s bellies being tickled.
A W — Google review
Even it's 25 year old, the park is fantastic and you are allowed inside with most of the animals. Some parts are a little work, but they try to keep up and are even constructing new areas for more animals. Do expect the birds to poob on you, if you let them sit. They were all well behaved and did not bite. So much fun and they all seem to be in good condition. Super great agility tracks for children from 8-15.

I have so many pictures & videos thus is a memory I will treasure always & we will return again & again when we come back to Spain I only wish we had a place like this in the uk . Thank you to all the amazing staff for caring so much for all the birds and animals. This place is a must see on your visit to the area you won’t regret it 😄😄😄🥰

The Estàtua de Benet XIII (Papa Lluna) is a beautiful statue located near the illuminated castle, creating a picturesque setting. The statue of Benedict XIII, also known as Papa Luna, has become a popular spot for taking selfies. Visitors can enjoy a scenic walk to the castle through the old town of Peniscola, navigating narrow and sometimes steep streets and stairs.
Inaugurated in 2007, this Bronze statue represents absolutely nothing of the actual physical appearance of Papa Luna: in reality, he was a small, extremely thin man dedicated to the world of academia, more along the lines of a Mr. Barnes from the Simpsons rather than the imposing myth that has been created. Some argument can be made that the statue represent his strong character and beliefs, but physically, zero in common with the statue.
Guyver I — Google review
The statue of Pope Benedict XIII, or Papa Luna, in Peñíscola stands as a reminder of one of the most controversial figures in papal history. Once a powerful leader during the Great Western Schism, Benedict XIII made Castell de Peníscola his refuge, refusing to renounce his claim to the papacy even in exile. His legacy is one of resilience and defiance, and this statue, overlooking the sea, captures his unwavering determination. Standing before it, you can almost feel the weight of history—the echoes of a time when the fate of the Church was as stormy as the Mediterranean waves behind him.

So people still look online (at least sometimes!!) to see who they took a selfie with. Castell de Peníscola is a massive medieval fortress located on the seafront, once serving as a papal seat. The castle offers tours and hosts cultural events. Visitors can enjoy unparalleled views of the sea and the castle from modern, well-equipped rooms with spacious terraces. The surrounding old town features stunning white-washed houses, stone steps, narrow alleyways, and hidden viewpoints.
Peñíscola Castle is an incredible place to visit—rich in history and full of charm. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll love knowing that parts of the series were filmed here, and walking through the same locations feels surreal. The castle itself is beautiful, well-preserved, and offers breathtaking views of the coastline and the surrounding town. It’s a perfect blend of history and scenery. The area around the castle is just as enjoyable, with lots of small shops to pick up souvenirs and plenty of restaurants with stunning views, making it a great spot to enjoy lunch or dinner after exploring. The beach is also fantastic—clean, lively, and just steps away from the old town. Altogether, Peñíscola offers a perfect mix of culture, food, and relaxation.

Peniscola Spain is the beautiful setting for this Castle jewel. It costs 5 euro to tour the Castle and Garden, each. Shoes or sandals with good traction will serve you well as the walk up to the Castle is on very smooth and worn stone steps, walk ways and streets, and dont forget you still have the walk down. Morella is an amazing town not too far from Peniscola and Valencia. It is like going back in time! This town is amazing and the church is greatly preserved that reflects the history. Beautiful building.

Castell de Morella

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Perched atop the town of Morella, Castell de Morella is an ancient fortress with a rich history dating back to the 3rd millennium BC. The large Moorish castle, built in the 13th century on earlier Iberian and Roman foundations, offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and hills. Visitors can explore its steep roads, medieval streets, churches, and walls before hiking up to admire its well-preserved walls and terraces.
We walked up to the castle which was quite a trek, zigzagging up the hill. Once we got past the metal bridge after the modern bull ring I walked along to the left to see the statue of Ramon Cabrera, a guerilla leader in one of the Spanish succession wars and views over the ruined convent of St Francis. Access to the castle from there was blocked so I walked all the way back and carried on up the hill to the main gate. This had obviously been repaired recently but if an attacker even go that far I'd be impressed. The area before the summit contained the governors palace (now housing an exhibition of the town's history) and various admin, storage and living rooms and a prison. The 19th century improvements were very visible with extra walls and batteries due to the capabilities of modern canon, two of which were added to the castle in the 1950s. The top of hill was very windswept and had lots of rooms with information boards but in Spanish only. The views, as you can image, were just fantastic with the lower fortifications, the city walls, the medieval aquaduct and the wider Valencian countryside all layed out.

Wonderful place to visit! Looooots of stares, very nice views, impressive piece of history! Totally it's a visit must!

Wow, climbing up to Morella’s castle felt like stepping into a medieval saga! The steep, winding path had my heart racing, but those jaw-dropping views of the Valencian countryside? Totally worth every step. The fortress, perched at 1,073 meters, is a time capsule did you know it was first built by the Moors in the 900s on Roman ruins? For just €2, you get to explore its ancient walls and towers. Wear comfy shoes, bring a water bottle, and don’t skip the tiny fossil jewelry shop at the exit those pieces glow in the sun! Perfect for history buffs and adventurers alike.

Absolutely amazing place! The Castelo de Morela is stunning — the views from the top are breathtaking, and you can really feel the history in every corner. There’s plenty of interesting information about what happened here during medieval times, which makes the visit even more fascinating. The castle is very well maintained, and it’s easy to imagine what life might have been like centuries ago. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

Castell de Morella is a must if you’re chasing history with jaw-dropping views. This ancient fortress, perched on a rocky hill, feels like stepping into a medieval saga. Pro tip: visit early morning when it opens at 11 AM to skip any queues—takes about 5-10 minutes max. Entry is just €5, a steal for the climb to Plaza de Armas, where you’ll snap epic photos of Morella’s red rooftops and the Els Ports mountains. Wear comfy shoes for the steep paths, and don’t miss the Convent de Sant Francesc entrance it’s the only way in

Ticket costs €5/person. Dogs are allowed. A magnificent castle where can overlook the whole town.

It seems like a very big hill to climb to the top of the castle but it's not too bad, for someone like me who hates hills. Amazing views and information plaquards around, €3.50 entrance fee.
Nicola M — Google review
It's a little town on the hill, with an ancient church building, though small it's very unique worth to explore even though you may have seen many. The castle on the top is a ruine, ancient but nothing much to see. The streets in the middle of the hill are just like any other Spanish town.

Parc Miner del Maestrat

Mine
Sights & Landmarks
Extremely interesting historical park, showing how the mine used to function. We were lucky and got Sandy as our guide, she spoke English as well as Spanish, she was able to explain some things that I did not understand in English also - all the literature around the park is in Spanish, valenciano and English. Most of the guides are local, as were the people that worked in the mines in the fifty's, work that was extremely hard and poorly paid ( though not as poor as the farm labour, that was the other option). So if you go and don't speak Spanish be sure to ask for Sandy!. Open all year round, shut Tuesdays though.

A hidden gem well worth a visit. Email ahead for a timed visit in English. You are taken into two old mines; the two are connected by a short ride on a tourist type train. There is a small cafe selling drinks and sandwiches etc.

(Translated by Google) It is the second time I have visited the place. The truth is that it is very well organized and there is a little red train that took us from one mine to another and back. Nobody gets bored there, it's all very entertaining. We deaf people, since we could not hear what the guide explained, we read the explanations through our mobile phone using voice to text and we found it very interesting. In addition, next to that mining park there are stone tables and chairs where you can eat if you bring food from home, and there is also a bar that serves drinks. Everything great.

It's best accessed from the village of Culla, but the last sections are still mountain trails. Group tours can be arranged in any language you prefer; please inform the park in advance. The rest of the tours are in Spanish so everyone can understand them. Upstairs, there are restrooms, water, a souvenir shop, and a bar. Amazing Place. Very well maintained and full with historical value. The guide is very friendly and knows a lot about the place. Passing through the dungeons of the mine, you can barely imagine how it was, to work underground for 8 hours. Also the possibility to spend the night with the camper is amazing. Stunning views. Definitely a must go if you are in the region and definitely stay a night.

The tour lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes and flies by. At the end, you can buy local cheese… delicious! Highly recommended. (Original) Una experiencia increíble de principio a fin. Playa Morro de Gos is a popular holiday destination known for its golden sand, sun-bathing chairs, and umbrellas. The beach offers tranquility and stunning sunsets, making it perfect for a calm morning or afternoon. Visitors can also explore the old quarter of Oropesa del Mar with notable buildings and historical landmarks. The area features a variety of amenities including fruit stands, shops, souvenirs, and beach accessories.
A complete experience for everyone. Fruit stands, shops, souvenirs, beach accessories, seawall with two levels for strolling along the beach. Upper level perfect to view the beach, lower level providing easy access to all the shops and restaurants. Warning, during the day the lower level walkway doubles as a street for the locals who live adjacent to the walkway. Nightlife turns into full throttle around 8pm. Sidewalks become busy with activity as shoppers eagerly search for the exquisite replicas (dupes, fakes, counterfeits) from designer shoes to luxury handbags (Gucci, Prada, Tous, etc). Prices usually stay around 25 euros for most of the favorite items. Unlike the street sellers in Madrid, the street seller has no fear from the local authorities as it seems to be a symbiotic relationship, where tourists swarm the walkway purchase the dupes and then shop at the legitimate restaurants from pizza to fine dining. Interesting experience! Oh, the walkways are certainly tempting for a skater, although I only saw one actual skateboarder during my 4 visits to the walkway in August.

Jolly beach at the main part of Oropesa de Mar. A little bit narrow in some points but good quality of Sand. It is not comparable to the more virgin beaches you find when you move far away of Marina D'Or, but it is still a good option if you don't fancy driving and prefer to go straigh from the appartment to the beach.

Great Beach This is a great place and beach but it does feel a bit smaller than some of the other beaches around. It is situated in the main part of Oropesa de Mar. The beach itself is a narrow, but the sand is great.

We have always had very windy weather on this beach. In addition, it is very narrow. In the end, we always switched to Playa de la Concha, which we thought was better in everything. Even just before the start of the season, there were no showers, deckchairs, etc., but that will probably change with the arrival of the high season.

Aquarama Water Park in Benicassim is a popular destination for families, offering a wide range of thrilling rides, slides, and pools. It's especially loved by kids and teenagers for its water-based fun. Visitors staying at beach hotels can get tickets at the best prices, and there are special offers available through the park's website. The park features exciting slides that attract repeat visitors every year, though it's recommended to plan ahead as it can get crowded on sunny days.
Pretty cool park! You can bring your own food and drinks. There are peaceful pools and places to chill, or you can queue and try out the water slides. We went during a weekday in July, and the lines were already pretty long for some of the popular slides. We'd recommend the Black Hole slide on a double inner tube with a friend! Also, they have really wonderful staff. One of us lost a silver chain necklace on one of the slides, and a life guard found it and brought it to the lost and found. We were totally surprised and grateful, thank you!

It was a lovely experience and definitely worth the drive from Valencia. The facility is clean and well-managed, with staff everywhere, attentive to details across all attractions. I felt very safe throughout the visit. The entrance fee is reasonable given the level of entertainment and compared to similar venues in Europe. Food prices were also affordable for a tourist attraction, and while they allow visitors to bring their own food, as tourists we chose the restaurants and did not regret it. Parking is free—which is a nice surprise compared to many other European destinations! I especially appreciated the locker system, which was convenient and fairly priced at €7 per day. The only area I’d recommend improving is the hygiene of the shower facilities. Overall, highly recommended!

We went on a very hot day and got the discounted tickets for the afternoon session. Long queues for some rides, others were fine. The place is clean, stuff is very good and careful about rules, the facilities are clean and well maintained.

So many slides and attractions for kids and adults. Our 7 &4 year old has a blast . The staff is very friendly and you can bring your own snacks in which helps with picky eaters. The facilities were nice and the lifeguards were very attentive. The only reason it’s not a 5 is because for some reason the minimum height signs are at different heights so my little one was able to ride some rides but others not. We still had a blast and if you go BRING SUNSCREEN and reapply because the sun hits hard here. They do have covered seating which you can rent for like 5€ whole day which was a nice to have. Also have lockers for rent and showers for after .

Nice action for the all family members. The security is very good, guides are securely monitoring all stations and make sure no one is crashing into another one. Entertainment teams also going around and entertaining people in the waiting lines. We will come a gain.

Aquarama Benicàssim is perfect for spending time with family! There are places to buy food and spots for a picnic. Plenty of fun activities, clean facilities, and a great atmosphere for all ages. Highly recommended for a family day out.
ILHAM B — Google review
Aquarama is a very well-run and clean park, and the lifeguards do an excellent job of keeping everyone safe. However, it's a very expensive day out, made even more so by an extra €7 for a locker. Visiting in August means it's ridiculously busy, and the queue times are unreal. Even after spending the entire day there, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., we couldn't get on even half the rides. For example, we got in the queue for the Wow Slide right after the park opened and still had to wait for an hour. The food was also a letdown. We had to wait 30 minutes for the kids' 'pirate' menu, and it wasn't great. Overall, the park is a lovely place. If you're not bothered about doing all the rides and are happy to just enjoy the pools, then a visit in August is fine. Otherwise, I would recommend avoiding it during this time.
Alex N — Google review
Really nice experience, good variety of slides, although some have a substantial queue. The only thing, if you don't have acar and are getting there by train, there's no comfortable way to get to the park from the railway station. It's just 20 minutes walk, but you 'll have to walk by the side of the highway at some point. Otherwise lovely experience

Fuente de los Baños is a collection of thermal springs located in a river gorge surrounded by lush greenery. The river features stone beaches and offers opportunities for swimming in its warm blue-green waters. The area has both shallow and deep sections with rocky or sandy bottoms, as well as other pools along the valley. Visitors are advised to bring sandals and a blanket due to the gravelly or grassy terrain around the pools.
Very beautiful park! Make sure to get your own food cause the restaurant serves mostly bread with very small amount of filling. Drinking water from springs is available.

Just an hour away you find this beautiful natural river. The waters stay a consistent 77 degrees throughout the year. In the summer it feels cool and refreshing. In the winter it feels like a hot tub, although you will only find the tourists enjoying these waters in the winter months. Parking is severely limited here, so if you are making the journey in a rental car be prepared to park in town and make the walk.

Really nice, relaxing experience. Clear and chill water, rich in magnesium. There is a restaurant as well. There are free changinging cabins and toilets. Dogs are not allowed to the beach, bathing them is explecitly forbidden as well. There are some, but limited parking spot right at the entrance. Parking is not free.

Montanejos Baths Review I recently visited the Montanejos hot springs in Spain, and what a disappointment it turned out to be. Five years ago, this was a perfect, serene spot with crystal-clear river water and free access that made it a hidden gem. Now, it's become a cash grab with declining quality. The river water was shockingly white and murky, as if contaminated with floating debris—unusual for a flowing river that should be pristine. I attached pictures to show just how dirty it looked; it's not the inviting blue we expect. Worse are the escalating costs. They've blocked all free roadside parking with pillars, forcing you into their paid lot at €1 per 30 minutes—€8 for just 4 hours! Then, add €4.50 entrance per person. For what? Neglected facilities and polluted water? Spain seems to be turning into a place where you pay stupid prices for basics, and the money goes nowhere. It's worsened every year since my last visit. Not worth the trip anymore—skip it and find a better free alternative. 1/5 stars.

I saw videos and photos of this place for months and I’m happy to say it DID NOT disappoint. So relaxing, wonderful water, a lot of beautiful dragonflies around the water, we had a great time. Paid Parking!!

We have mixed feelings 😂 We walked away saying we were happy we stopped because we like to see different places, but we were also happy we didn’t make a special trip to the area just to visit it because it definitely would’ve been more disappointing if that were the case. It is definitely beautiful and an experience to swim in the river. Water isn’t warm, that’s for sure. Now that it’s popular on the internet it’s full of people. €4,50 per adult and €3,50 per kid to enter (9:00-19:00)—I recommend parking not at this parking lot but further on and across a little bridge—this parking fills up fast and the other one is empty and has a beautiful walk through the valley. Parking is €1 per 30 minutes, 10€ for a full day.
Ally P — Google review
Absolutely loved this, great for hiking, look for the Black caves, the thermal pools are so nice, the water towards the cave are cooler but the other side the water is warmer, a must see.

Fuente de los Baños is a stunning natural gem! The serene river, surrounded by lush greenery and dramatic cliffs, creates a breathtaking backdrop. The area appears well-maintained, with facilities like restrooms, making it a convenient spot for visitors. The variety of weather conditions captured in the photos—rainy and sunny—highlights its year-round beauty. Perfect for a peaceful getaway or a family adventure! PROTIP 1: YOU MUST PAY FOR PARKING, or you will receive a citation. I was 44€, no one told me anything about parking, as I mistakenly assumed parking was included in the park fee: 4.50€/adult, 3.50€ for children. PROTIP 2: there are life guards on duty who will enforce any rules you see at the kiosk where you pay. The rules only seem to apply between the yellow posts near a small bridge on the right and the yellow buoys on the left toward the canyon wall.

Coves de Sant Josep

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Coves de Sant Josep offers guided boat trips and hikes through a subterranean river that dates back to the Triassic era, making it the longest in Europe. Visitors can enjoy a 45-minute leisurely boat ride along the underground river, covering approximately 800 meters. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, guests will explore various rooms within the caves, including the Bat Room, Dianas Lake, Siphon Gallery, Dry Zone, and Cathedral.
Great find! We couldn’t buy tickets online directly as they were sold out for weeks. I really wanted to go so we nearly paid €50+ euro’s per head but we didn’t need transfers as we had a rental car and was also travelling on from Valencia to Barcelona. In the end we was late leaving the Vila so didn’t book the excursion tour. We decided to go and see if we could get tickets in person. We were very lucky as got the last 4 tickets for the day. (It was around 12.45.pm) we went and had a nice slow lunch then went and got an icecream. We then had a look around the tourist shops and drove to the top of the mountain to check out the views. Then it was time to go back and go in the caves. They were fantastic. I would have loved to of been able to take more pictures though. Guide didn’t speak lots of English but she tried. Majority was only in Spanish. Didn’t help that when she did speak in English there was another family that was so loud you couldn’t tell what the lovely guide was saying. Facilities; lots of nice restaurants and food, clean toilets small kids play park. Shops and market stalls.

Booked online and had a great time! Free parking available, and some are even covered. There are some bathrooms right next to the parking lot. On the way to the cove entrance, you’ll pass many stores, restaurants, snacks, so plenty of options to eat/shop. The tour itself was about 50 minutes. First part is a short boat ride for about 10-15 minutes, then you get off and walk a bit thru the cave for another 10-15 minutes, and then get on the same boat for the last part back. You can only take photos/videos towards the end, for about 5-10 minutes. The guide who is rowing the boat will let you know when you can use your phones. Water is mostly clear and shallow (1-2 meters deep). There are a few sections where the water goes deeper (around 11 meters) but the boat doesn’t pass on top of it. You do share the boat with other random people. Overall it was fun but mostly relaxing and uneventful. Wouldn’t do it a second time!
Ricardo A — Google review
Well managed site and surrounding, a very unique experience. There are multiple restautants and gift shops around as well. Tickets can be purchased on site, tours start frequently, there are a lot of guides. The water inside the cave was very clear, the tour starts off with a 5-10 minute boat ride in the caves, continues with 10 minute walk, and ends with another boat ride. The boats had one tour guide each, and could fit about 10-14 people. The guide was in the back and pushed the boat forward like a Gondola, with a long wood. The only downside was that the guide spoke very little English. There is plenty of free parking outside.
CJ — Google review
This was so much fun! You are allowed to take pictures but only when permitted at one point in the boat trip. I would've liked to spend more time in the boat just checking out the caves but you are moved through the cave waters by a guide. In an area filled with ancient ruins and such old history, it's crazy to think they just found these caves in the middle of the 20th century. They were truly explored only in the 1960s. They still don't know how big it is, where it starts, and where it ends. Worth the hour's trip from Valencia to visit.

The Caves of Saint Josep, I came here with a large group from our cruise ship for the day, we had a timed entry into the San Jose Caves. Each boat holds about 12 people and we went slowly through the water while the guide pointed out various formations. There was a short walkway too, in the middle of the tour. This is said to be "Europe's longest navigable underground river", which is the unique reason I took the tour! It was quite enjoyable and I can recommend it.

I came to #SanJoséCave because I was curious about the cave experience—those online videos looked super eye-catching, and hey, I’d never done it before. Figured it was time to tick it off the list. After a long bus ride, here’s how it went: 1️⃣ Not as stunning as expected—colors were pretty dull 2️⃣ Most of the tour felt rushed and not very photo-worthy 3️⃣ The journey was long and repetitive… got a bit boring 🥱 4️⃣ Some fellow boat passengers were seriously rude—taking sneaky photos and spinning around nonstop 🤬 5️⃣ Ticket price wasn’t cheap 🤑 6️⃣ Very few food options nearby ❌🥣 7️⃣ Tried to sit in their restaurant with my own snacks and got told off (even though the place was empty—guess we all know why the flies were the only customers 🪰) Bottom line: There are plenty of other places around the world with way better value for your time and money 🌍📈

Castell de Dénia is a picturesque castle by the water, dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. It offers a glimpse into history with artifacts on display, showcasing its Greek, Roman, Moorish, and Spanish influences. The climb to the top rewards visitors with stunning views of Denia and the mountains. While exploring the castle's ruins, visitors can also enjoy a café at the top.
Worth a visit, but make sure to go later in the afternoon otherwise you’ll be baked in the scorching sun. Beautiful views to the surroundings; not much of a castle, more outer remains. A governor’s palace location is a beautiful highest spot of the castle with views to the sea. Visit to the castle requires a certain level of physical fitness and preferably comfortable shoes, at least not heels, so plan accordingly.

Interesting information (mostly in Spanish) about the various stages of adaptation of the castle from its beginnings and most recently a palace. Worth a visit. Not much shade so morning or evening visit recommended. Plenty of (paid) parking in the vicinity. Good location for a walk around old town after. Plenty of exercise walking up and down the many steps and slopes to stretch those legs after a few days relaxing on the beaches.

Beautiful walk around the castle, lovely pit stop cafe and prices are great. Views are wonderful and well worth the few euros entry fee to explore the castle grounds. Coffee and cake are a must, visit is most definitely recommended, the surrounding streets with the quaint spainish houses are lovely to also explore.

Interesting place. €2 for seniors. There is a fairly steep tarmacced slope after the entrance, there are other routes up to the top, but steep and very uneven stone paths. Lots of boards with the history around. Lots of different areas to explore including the walls, so if you want to do it all, you'll need a lot of time.Views are good of the surrounding areas. Once outside, there is also a tunnel that runs underneath the castle which is free.

The views are absolutely stunning! There are very few people, so it’s really comfortable to walk around. There’s also a café on the grounds where you can enjoy different drinks with a beautiful view of the sea.

Definitely worth a visit, you will be sweating on a hot day, even if you take the easy road route up to the top. We opted for the hard more but scenic and cultural route making sure we took our time as it was 35deg. Entry is €3 for an adult and €2 for over 65's, the ticket man spoke perfect English and was very helpful. When you make it to the top the views are beautiful with harbour and coastal views. There is a small cafe at the top with a lovely seating area under pine trees, it does close mid afternoon so take a drinknifnyour going after 1400. We walked down the easy route and walked the castle tunnel that runs under the castle, this is free to enter. We parked down at the port car park, reasonably priced at around a €1 and hour and its only 10 mins from the castle.

A good uphill walk to a once thriving castle, little remains and all signs with history in Spanish, thankfully Google Translate helped tremendously. But you can see the history of the place it's mott and bailey, and footprints of the houses. Great views over Denia and harbour, watching the Ibiza ferry's come in. Lovely little cafe in castle at very reasonable price, also toilets, but these are a bit dilapidated.

Lovely beach. Near food and drink. Calm seas to swim and relax. Family and couple orientated.

(Translated by Google) The only star is for the place: really very beautiful, very nice beach and crystal clear water. What is missing are the services: the beach was dirty due to a recent storm (we arrived at 2:00 pm), there are no public toilets or public showers. For such a renowned place we expected a very different level of service.

Granadella

Granadella beach is a picturesque cove that boasts a small, pebbly shore. Surrounded by pine trees and featured as the backdrop for The Cold Light of Day movie, this sheltered beach offers a tranquil escape from the world. Though it has limited parking close to the shore, visitors can enjoy pleasant views along the coast climbing road from a moderately distant car park.
This is an incredibly beautiful bay with amazingly clean and cool water. I am very happy that we found this place. But there was one unpleasant moment. Before going down, there is a worker who says that there is no space in the parking lot. We must turn around, drive 5 km back, and take a bus. The bus costs 5 euros per person. The parking also costs 5 euros. We still asked her to let us go, because she let other cars pass. In the end, we found a parking space in one minute. There was more than one space. The parking actually costs 9 euros. The beach is clean, with pebbles, and there is a café.

Were there during off season, looket pretty silent and empty. Bar and shop were closed, no shower and WC. Surroundings look incredibly. No problem to park a car nearby 😅
Einaras B — Google review
We arrived at the entrance of the road leading to the parking and beach past 3pm on a Sunday of July 2025. All cars were being stopped by entering the beach. The beach officer was talking to each car and explaining that parking is full already by 10ish am. So he handed out a brochure where to park it 2mins away from where he stopped us. He told us to get on the next beach bus which will take us down the beach. So we did. It was a small parking space but we did street parking in residential area beside it, just like what others did. And we waited for the bus. At the time, only 3 groups rode the bus. U have to pAy per person (2way already) but i think our 1yo was free of charge. I posted in the photo of the brochure here. Then we reached the beach in no time. Take note that it is a pebble beach, which i realized I prefer better than the sand, considering i have kids. I can relaxed a bit knowing they wont throw sands to each other. Though it is a bit of a struggle to make an umbrella stand on pebble and the sand underneath was a bit hard to stick on. Make sure u have proper footwear like almost everyone does. The smooth rocks seriously hurt our feet from walking. The water... the clearest Ive ever seen in Valencia/Alicante. At the right side of the cost is the clearest and a cove is nice like this with shadow so you can hide from the sun if you wish. There is also a shower which is i really like compared to other long beach where you can only wash ur feet. There are restaurants too and small hotels. Past 6pm, the cove is clearing up and so does the parking. So my husband rode the bus back to the parking lot and he brought it inside to the parking space within the vicinity so we dont need to pack up and leave for the last bus trip. We left around 8pm. Less people. More chill vibe. We really enjoyed it and will surely be back because im a sucker for crystal clear water.

Although a pebbly beach, it was very beautiful and not windy. The water was warm. There were jellyfish in the water the day that we came here, but it was still possible to find nice spots for a swim. There are rocks under water so need to watch out not to kick your foot. Toilet facilities are near the beach and free. There is a long road car park near the beach, but we parked before the access control on the road for free and trekked to get here for about 25-30 min. It was a nice hike so if anyone else is willing, it is an option, but you would have to follow the road to get down to the cove so I dont recommend doing that with children or a lot of bulky luggage. Plan ahead and take a backpack instead of a trolley or big hand bags.

Absolutely amazing! Early October, not too busy but still good weather and warm! Worth a visit.
Juliana S — Google review
This is a great cycling destination during the tourist off-season. From Xàbia, the road CV742 (towards Cap de la Nau), then 7420 goes up and down across a posh and quiet neighbourghood with little car traffic. The pebbly beach is nested in a lovely cove. Bring along food and fluids because there is nowhere to buy supplies. No toilets.

This beach was beautiful! Stunning clean water but definitely bring water shoes and an umbrella!
C E — Google review
Fun Rocky beach (Pebbles) with a cool bar - definitively an Instagram looking spot! The water has an incredible turquoise color. Bring water shoes, as the rocks can be tough on your feet. We went by boat in September and it was easy to find a spot to anker and swim to shore to enjoy a beer and some snorkel. A great place to relax, enjoy the views, and snap some amazing photos.

This is the other beachfront in Calpe, less crowded, where walkers find the usual restaurants, bars and souvenirs shops. Ideal for a short stroll. The beach itself is wide, it must be packed during the summer months. The beach is cleaned up everything morning by the municipality technical services. There are benches along the way which allows for frequent breaks.

Today Saturday 13. 2025 I came to this beach because of the sand but like always pay zone for parking ... Here in Spain greed in s eternal. The view is exceptional having a mountain stick out of the water ... The water is relatively clear and clean. There aren't many paid umbrellas and this is a good thing The beach is wide and has many restaurants. It's 4/5 because of the paid parking and the algae in the water

Fantastic & Scenic Beach in Calpe This is a scenic beach in Calpe, it is very long very wide and the sand is great. It has lots of shops, boutiques, restaurants & cafés around it. The water is quite shallow so good for the young kids. The best part though is the fabulous view of the rock! We really enjoyed our time in Calpe.
Paul V — Google review
Two minute walk from our hotel, a lovely walk down towards the rock and then it continues all around to the town centre. Very clean and great to just stroll and enjoy the sunshine and views.
Steven T — Google review
Blue flag beach with crystal clear water and nice sandy beach, although the beach is becoming narrower. Unfortunately the city council are hoodwinked into believing that allowing the dead seaweed to pile up is environmentaly friendly. But not for the economy of the city which relies on tourists. It stinks and is really smelly and you have to climb mountains of it to get to the sea. The contract for sunbed management is also messed up by the incompetent City Council, so no sunbeds or umbrellas for hire. Shame because it used to be beautiful!
Andrew W — Google review
Very nice area for evening walk and also great beach although we weren't beaching there. If was clean, not that busy and with great views! The letters of Calpe are a nice place to have a photo at (of course I have had a few). There are also lots of bars and restaurant that you coild choose from for a drink or a meal. Would recommend it, if in the area.

It's a very beautiful beach, great view but it's quite crowded most of the time and the beach is mainly with rocks not sands so have to be careful!

Penyal d'Ifac Natural Park

Outdoor Activities
The Parc Natural del Penyal d'Ifac is a compact nature reserve with a large limestone outcrop, trails and scenic sea views. It is ideal for sport diving, fishing, and anchoring your boat. The natural cove is tranquil and perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving, as well as for fishing. The hike to the tunnel part of the reserve can be difficult for inexperienced hikers and dogs are not recommended due to the difficult terrain after the tunnel.
Amazing hike, shame it’s not longer as we were and back down in about 1h40min. Things to note: -you need to get tickets online but no one checked our tickets (weekend in June) -the first half is very easy ascent up to the tunnel -from the tunnel onwards, it gets a bit more impressive and there is a bit more rocky bits. Make sure to have good grip with your shoes -not sure I’d advise if you have severe vertigo -there are toilets and a fountain at the start of the hike
Nico M — Google review
Very nice trip, but remember to book your reservation online! Its a bit tricky, but use translate and it should be alright(the fines are 600-6000€). No amateurs should go here. You can expect to climb using the ropes and chains that are available. Its not very difficult if youre normally fit, but if you slip certain places, you can get really hurt. Reccomend to go in the morning before the sun gets too hot.
Sondre E — Google review
The best hike ever! Such a beautiful place Go with good hiking shoes, the stones are ve try slippery and it can be disheartening not to be able to continue because of that. And don’t look down to see how high it is while you’re climbing - this was my mistake! Just watch your feet, use the chains and go calmly!
Sonya S — Google review
I did this hike with my 48 year old mother. It took 1 hour to the top and 40 minutes down. We did this trip june 20th so if you're going during summer months I'd suggest going at 08:30 (when they open). It's easy up to the tunnel and afterwards it gets rockier and even more slippery because of all who have walked there. It's 332m above sea level. If I went without my mother I could probsbly do it in an hour. [[[Bring Water]]]
Dewg — Google review
Beautiful walk, bring some water and some good shoes. Don't forget to book your visit, you can't just walk up there.
Denn!s — Google review
Free to book on the National park’s website. They are limiting the number of people to 300 a day due to erosion and potential overcrowding at peak times. It is quite a scramble so you’ll need decent shoes and some bits are a bit scary if you aren’t good with sheer drops but mostly easy. Best tackled early in the day I think.
Philip S — Google review
Fantastic hike but past the tunnel, path is not for beginners. You will need to climb rocks and have good balance 😊 Don’t forget to reserve online, as there is a visitor center and they’ll check your reservation. The ticket is free but only 300 visitors allowed per day and there was no immediate availability on the website. Bit of planning and good shoes required for this adventure.
Be’ah P — Google review
Firstly you need to reserve an entrance to the park, which is limited to 300 entries per day. The signs warn of sporadic checks and minimum 600€ fines. When booking do not translate the page to English because it will give you an error at the very end... Once you get through the reservation you can start the walk. Make sure to have at least good trainers with good grip as the rocks are very slippery and sharp. Under 18s are only allowed up to the tunnel and no further although we've seen people with children further (personally I would stick to the rules and not go with kids too far up this path). I was surprised with the difficulty of this route, in any other country you would have information that it's quite dangerous but here I didn't see any such sign (maybe I missed it). In general the path is very rocky, some exposition and chains along the way. The rocks are very slippery so be careful especially on the descents. The views are very nice, and the hike is a good challenge and good fun but do take care when hiking it.
