Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy kafedralniy sobor

Russian Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
The Spaso-Preobrazhenskiy Kafedralniy Sobor, a stunning symbol of Rybinsk, stands as a magnificent testament to the city's rich history. This photogenic cathedral dominates the skyline and is an absolute must-see for any visitor. While its exterior captivates with grandeur, stepping inside reveals darker, more somber walls that may not be as inviting.
This is amazing Orthodox Cathedral builded in classical style. It`s not so often for Russian religious buildings. There is light and comfortable inside. It's not crowded

Very beautiful and big and can see it from almost everywhere and its location is great, I really liked it

(Translated by Google) The Transfiguration Cathedral, like most public buildings in the city, was built with money from Rybinsk merchants. The largest part was contributed by Vyazmina merchants. The total weight of gilded silver used in the interior decoration was more than 500 kg. As for the bell tower, it was built 50 years earlier than the temple itself, presumably according to the design of the self-taught Kostroma architect Stepan Vorotilov. In the 20th century, the cathedral was almost destroyed during the construction of a bridge across the Volga. The building was saved by the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War. During Soviet times, the temple was closed and destroyed, and was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church only in the 1990s. Services resumed in 1996, the schedule of services is on the Diocese website. Columns and stucco moldings have been preserved inside, but the iconostasis and frescoes were destroyed during the USSR, and currently there are no paintings.

(Translated by Google) Previously, there were two wooden churches on this site, some of the first in the city, then a stone temple was built. In 1803, a new high bell tower was added to it. And then, in 1851, the temple itself was rebuilt. The architect was Abraham Melnikov, a participant in the competition for the construction of St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Doesn't it remind you? Since 1909, the cathedral became a cathedral. And after the revolution, it was closed and disfigured, turning it into a vegetable storehouse. The bell tower suffered less, no economic use was found for it. In the 70s of the last century, the cathedral was vacated and restoration began as a museum treasure. After the collapse of the Union, the cathedral was restored, although it is almost a new replica, but similar. Now the temple is active ...

Dominant of the entire city. One thing, if there is no need, it’s better not to go inside. Dark, somewhat empty, smoky gray walls. Very uncomfortable. As for the inspection from the bell tower. Now only with a guide from the cathedral. The guide's phone number will be given at the candle box. Reluctantly, but they will. You need to call and clarify the price and date of climbing to the bell tower. Something like this (Original)

Art Museums
The Рыбинский государственный историко-архитектурный и художественный музей-заповедник, established in 1910, has evolved from its humble beginnings of just two rooms to a treasure trove boasting over 100,000 exhibits that celebrate the rich history, nature, and cultural heritage of the region. The museum's collection primarily features artifacts from nationalized estates in the area.
(Translated by Google) The museum was founded in 1910, originally occupied two rooms, and today has more than 100,000 exhibits on the history, nature and cultural heritage of the region. The basis of the museum collection is collections of nationalized surrounding estates. We took a comprehensive ticket, which included a tour of the historical exhibition and art gallery. For those who come for the first time, this is the best option. The excursion lasts an hour and a half, you will get an idea of how Rybinsk grew and developed until the beginning of the twentieth century. The art gallery is located in the operating room, where transactions were made. One of the main values are portraits that belonged to the Musin-Pushkin family, including Rokotov’s painting “Portrait of Princess Ekaterina Alekseevna Volkonskaya.” There are also originals: Aivazovsky, N.N. Ge (author’s repetition) “Peter I interrogates Tsarevich Alexei Petrovich in Peterhof”, Shishkin, Popov “Troika”, Kuznetsov “Sleeping” (his daughter is depicted), Bogolyubov (the second most important marine painter) , Myasoedov, Pimonenko “The Last Ray”, Zhukovsky “Snowdrops”, Roerich “Castle”. You can independently familiarize yourself with the large collection of icons. Most of the icons are from the 18th-19th centuries; there are also exhibits from the 16th century. The origin of the icons is from estates, some of the icons are of unknown origin.

(Translated by Google) The condition of the museum leaves much to be desired. Creaking parquet and signs of flooding await you in the dusty halls. The staircase to the 2nd floor has not been washed since its foundation. The exhibits are interesting, but what condition are they in! Dust, dirt, faded photos. The art gallery looks better, there are many worthy works. Are these originals? How the temperature and humidity conditions are maintained with open windows. It's a shame that such a stunning building is being used so poorly.

(Translated by Google) My boyfriend and I bought tickets using the Pushkin card. The website loaded very poorly. The money was debited from our cards, but the barcode still hadn't appeared after 20 minutes. We approached the cashier with this problem, where they rudely told us that it wasn't their problem. I agree with this, but it could have been said calmly. In the end, we bought a ticket with our own money and went into the art gallery. I wanted to take a photo, the museum attendant looked at me intently, after which she made a remark to me to move away from the painting, although the painting was 15 cm away. I moved away, the young man took another photo of me, but they didn't like this outcome either. A number of inappropriate comments were made by ALL the attendants, telling us to move away from here, not to go there, that they would call security now, although we walked like everyone else, didn't touch anything with our hands, and it was not forbidden to take photos. Let's sum it up, the museum staff is rude, they don't want to solve technical problems. The atmosphere is terrible, they constantly stare at you, as if they were not museum guards, but prison guards.

The Valenki Museum in Myshkin may be small, but it offers an interesting tour that delves into the history of felting. Visitors can learn about the process of making felt boots and even discover some unconventional uses for them, like curing a hangover. The museum showcases a diverse collection of felt boots, including some adorned with rhinestones and beads. Additionally, there is an exhibition dedicated to various types of footwear made from felt.

Google review
The city is home to the Valenok Museum, a unique museum dedicated to traditional Russian felted footwear. It was opened in 2000 after the successful exhibition and sale "Russian Valenki." The choice of Myshkin for the museum is not accidental - for over a century, the city has been a center for felt production, and local craftsmen have been renowned for their valenki. The museum features an extensive collection of valenki from various eras. Among the exhibits, you can see unusual models: boot-style felt boots, ice-skating felt boots, as well as designer options with embroidery, fur, and even in the "disco" style. A separate exhibition introduces visitors to the "sisters and brothers of the felt boot" - antique footwear from previous centuries, such as shoes, boots, and shoes. The exhibition is constantly updated, as many of the exhibited felt boots can be purchased. A distinctive feature of Myshkin felt boots is that they are made exclusively from the wool of the Romanov sheep, which gives them a characteristic gray color. The production process is completely manual: the wool is thoroughly washed, combed, and hand-felted, then boiled and dried. It takes about 2.5 kg of wool to create one pair. Interestingly, the manufacturing process has not changed for over two hundred years, and modern craftsmen follow the same techniques as their ancestors. In the past, felt boots were considered a valuable gift and were passed down through generations. In addition to their primary purpose, felt boots were also used for medical purposes, such as treating rheumatism, colds, and even hangovers. At the museum, you can learn about an old girl's divination for her future husband using a felt boot.

Nestled in the heart of a charming city, the Mouse Museum is a delightful tribute to an endearing little rodent that played a pivotal role in local folklore. According to legend, this tiny mouse saved Prince Fyodor Mstislavsky, the city's founder, which is why it features prominently in both the city's name and its ancient coat of arms. Established in 1990, this unique museum stands as the only one of its kind globally.

Hence the mouse is included in both the name of the city and its ancient coat of arms. These facts prompted the creation and opening in 1990 of such an original museum, the only one in the world. So, on the coat of arms of Myshkin a bear is depicted as a totem animal from the time of the Yaroslavl principality, and the mouse is the savior of the prince. The city’s coat of arms also depicts the imperial crown. In Russia, only three cities have an imperial crown on their coat of arms - Moscow, St. Petersburg and Myshkin. The Mouse Museum itself is a unique place where you can see a huge collection of mice from different materials and countries. There are knitted mice, clay, cardboard, wooden, iron and many others. This is the world's only mouse museum, home to 13,348 mice. By the way, today there are about 6 thousand residents in the city itself. The museum is located in the wooden former house of merchant Titov, decorated with carvings. In fact, this is a museum of gifts; the collection includes exhibits donated to the museum. So, if you are going to Myshkin, take your own, original specimen of the rodent. The museum is popular, so I recommend booking in advance. The excursion lasts ~40 minutes.

Museums
The Ferapontov Monastery, a former spiritual retreat in Russia, is renowned for its collection of 16th-century frescoes created by the artist Dionisy. Situated on the picturesque shores of a beautiful lake, this small monastery captivates visitors with its exquisite array of frescoes that are the main attraction. Exploring these artistic masterpieces won't take much time as there is also a short film presentation prior to viewing.

(Translated by Google) A very beautiful monastery with magnificent frescoes between two beautiful lakes. Currently it functions primarily as a museum. The price of a complex ticket is 1000 rubles, a ticket to the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary from 1490 with frescoes from 1502 by Dionysius is 650 rubles (September 2024) The cathedral with frescoes has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 (the only one in the Vologda region). The village has got good roads and even new bus stops. However, there is no transport from the village itself. Even the short Kirillovo-Feropontov route was no longer running as of September 2024. They also didn't bother to make lockers for storing luggage. Probably, according to local authorities and the museum, people can only get here by personal transport, taxi, or as part of organized groups. But the monastery itself and the frescoes are magnificent.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful monastery, of course, be sure to read the eventful history of the monastery if you are traveling independently and without a guide. We took a taxi from the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, on the way we visited the Church of Elijah the Prophet in Tsypino. The trip took a little over three hours, we were in no hurry. The cost of a taxi is 3000 rubles. We ordered by phone, Yandex Go does not work in Kirillov. The monastery is chamber, like in the picture. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to walk along its walls from the outside (be sure to do this) and even swim in the lake. The frescoes of Dionysius of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary can only be viewed in sessions (check the session time when buying tickets). The session is preceded by a viewing of a film about the creation of the wall painting (we missed it). The time you spend in the cathedral is about twenty minutes, which is quite enough. Of course, the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery is much more interesting. But it is simply necessary to see the miraculously preserved frescoes, especially since the Ferapontov Monastery ensemble is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

(Translated by Google) Fellow travelers! If you're visiting Kirillov or just passing through, stop by Ferapontovo. The place is blessed and beautiful, and just being here is a joy. The monastery was founded in the 14th century. Vasily the Dark came here before seizing the Moscow throne from Shemyaka. The odious and controversial Patriarch Nikon, whose actions led to the church schism that gave birth to the Old Believers, was exiled here. The monastery is under UNESCO protection for its frescoes of St. Dionysius, who painted the walls with his sons in the early 16th century. Inside, there's a 16th-century church with very, very ancient interiors. Tours are available. There are several types of tickets, meaning you can't just buy one and see everything. Admission to the grounds is free, but there's a fee for the exhibitions. The monastery's refectory (dining room) is full of artifacts, and you can also see how and from what the frescoes were made. There's a souvenir shop with icons, as well as interesting trinkets and food items, including authentic ones. The parking lot in front of the monastery usually sells pottery made by a local artisan – very high-quality (I've been using it for years and have even introduced friends to it) – made of black and brown clay, unpainted, without Khokhloma, Gzhel, or other fancy touches, just plain pottery. There are shops in the village, but food is a problem. But the district center of Kirillov is nearby, so you can find something for yourself. Overall, don't miss this unique place. And for those who enjoy standing by a clear northern lake, listening to the rustling breeze and the ringing of bells, this place is a real treat, as an added bonus. I live in St. Petersburg and have been here probably 15 times. It's absolutely beautiful...

Akvapark "Raduzhnyy"

Aquatic center
Water & Amusement Parks
Akvapark "Raduzhnyy" is a delightful destination for families seeking fun and relaxation. This water park features a variety of areas, including a shallow pool perfect for little ones and an adult pool equipped with aquamassage facilities. While the park offers only two slides that operate alternately, they provide an enjoyable experience. Guests can also appreciate the outdoor floating area under the open sky, which adds to the charm of their visit.

It's fun to float outside the building under the open sky. It’s very good that you can go to a regular pool to swim on the lanes if you’re tired of splashing around. And so, a jacuzzi, douches, a children's area, there is also a VIP, where there is a solarium, sauna, salt room and massage beds. Since the water park itself is not very large, you can have a more varied time with the VIP version, but, I repeat, it’s interesting without it.

We came from another city to rest and relax, and in the end we left tired, hungry and full of disappointment. It was May 3, we went at our own peril and risk so that we would get in or not, because tickets are not booked in advance and are not bought online, we arrived and were surprised that there was almost nothing in the lobby empty and we quickly bought tickets (there were 5 of us, 2 adults and 3 children), it came out to 5 thousand, although for a small child they didn’t take a ticket for free until they were 3 years old, we took the Maximum rate for 6 hours to see and try everything (as it turned out there was nothing to try), we walked around and tried everything in half an hour! Then I stood at 1 working slide from the bottom of only 2 slides to watch and if anything to save my children, because We didn’t see any rescuers at all. After half an hour, naturally, the children asked for food, because... We had been on the road for a long time and had already been in the water park for an hour, and what was our surprise when we approached the cafe counter, there was a technological break written there, okay, we waited 30 minutes, the announcement was still there, I pressed the call button, because behind the doors of the cafe I could see both girls just sitting on their phones, one came out dissatisfied, reluctantly took our order and sat us at a dirty, uncleaned table near the toilets, to which her husband told her to clean it up, and she barked dissatisfiedly that she would clean it up right now and left. We ordered 2 servings of fries and 1 coffee, because... the prices were the same as in a restaurant (for everything we got 990 rubles), and 1 portion had less potatoes than the other and the coffee was brought without sugar! We wanted to change the tariff to 3 hours instead of 6, but we were told this is impossible, if you don’t want to be there just like that, then just leave and that’s it. By the way, for kids there is only 1 pool with 1 small slide and that’s it! And it’s located opposite the street pool from where it blew directly on the children and as a result the water was cool, and upon arriving home we all got sick!!! (Translated by Google) Great water park. There are many different areas, both a shallow children's pool and a full-fledged adult pool with aquamassage. Overall, a great place for a family vacation! The only thing that is somehow not very convenient is the length of stay: only 2 options - 3 and 6 hours. 3 is not enough, 6 seemed too much for us. After 5 hours they were already getting ready to leave. As for me, it would be better to do 2,4 and 6 hours to choose from.

Cherepovets, situated in the western part of Vologda Oblast, Russia, is a bustling city with a population of over 300,000. Founded as a monastery in the 14th century, it has grown to become the economic center of the region largely due to OAO Severstal', a major steel company based there. This industrial presence has contributed to Cherepovets' relative prosperity compared to other Russian cities.

(Translated by Google) The exhibition is small, but there are many interesting and unique things. For example, I have never seen a ceramic samovar anywhere. Posters for lectures at the People's House for 1912 immerse us in the era of a small county town. So I imagined how the audience gathered in the evening, respectable gentlemen purchased tickets to the first row, paid 5 kopecks for storage of outerwear. The high school students sit in the gallery, where the tickets are the cheapest, and not so much listen to the lecture as look out for pretty high school girls, because after the lecture there is dancing!

Kazansky Female Monastery

Monumental cathedral, quiet place.
Ilya R — Google review
(Translated by Google) Somehow this monastery is not well-known, and I came across it quite by accident, somewhere I saw a photo of the Kazan Cathedral. I compared it with our planned route and it turned out that we would be passing through (and spending the night) very close by: well, why not stop by. Let's go. From the highway we turn onto Siversova Street, and it’s very close there. We drive a little past the monastery and behind it there is a parking lot with information about the monastery. After what our revolutionary atheists did there, only the Kazan Cathedral has been fully restored so far. Well, the Sophia Chapel is next to it (but it is completely new, as is the sculpture of St. John of Kronstadt not far from the entrance). All other buildings are still in a sad state and require a lot of time and money. Some work is going on in the interiors of the Andronikovsky Cathedral, but when we were in the monastery (August 21, Wednesday, from 8.30 to 10 o’clock) there was no movement there and the doors of the cathedral were tightly closed. But the Kazan Cathedral turned out to be open: a large pinkish building of lush, even some kind of riotous architecture with many small details and elements. But its interior turned out to be bright, clean and calm. Classic. Filled with light. Fascinating! Interesting contrast! Well, it's deserted here for now. Apparently that’s why it’s not just allowed here, but recommended to take photographs (a rare occurrence for monasteries) and post them on the internet so that people can learn at least something about this place. Very small area. Two huge cathedrals. This also doesn't happen often. But still, now you can safely enter the territory, calmly enter one of the cathedrals and, perhaps, support the restoration of this wonderful place with at least some money.

(Translated by Google) The Vyshnevolotsk Kazan Convent was founded in 1872 on the site of the appearance of the miraculous Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, which for centuries was revered as the Great Shrine of the Vyshnevolotsk land. At the site of the apparition at the holy spring, a chapel was erected for her stay, and subsequently a temple with a bell tower, where the miraculous image was located until the destruction of the monastery. By the beginning of the 20th century, the monastery became one of the largest in Russia, numbering about 1000 nuns. It had many workshops, including painting, embroidery, sewing, shoe making and bookbinding. An orphanage was organized at the monastery, where up to 250 girls were educated, a parish school, and hospices and almshouses were maintained. After the revolution in 1919, the monastery was closed and subjected to merciless destruction. The temple with the bell tower, where the miraculous Kazan icon resided, the fence, most of the wooden buildings were destroyed, the heads of the cathedrals were demolished, and their interior decoration was lost. During Soviet times, a military unit was located on the territory of the monastery. The drainage system was ruined, as a result of which swampiness returned. Constant excess moisture causes building structures to collapse. The monastery was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1991, and its revival is currently ongoing. The monastery is open daily from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

(Translated by Google) It is small and it is clear that the monastery is not rich. The main historical and architectural value on the territory of the monastery is the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 12th century, the northernmost stone church in pre-Mongol Rus'. I’m not an expert, but the church reminded me of the Novgorod school. There is another functioning church on the territory - the Church of the Exaltation. There is a shop with amazing gingerbread cookies. I have never tasted anything tastier in my life. I recommend it. There are very few nuns, we talked to one - the impressions were the most pleasant. In general, the place is historically significant and has strong energy.

(Translated by Google) I got there and didn’t understand where I ended up. There is no parking, we are standing along the road. The territory looks more like someone's backyard. Here, a film could be made, about a mental hospital, for example. There are a lot of ruins, everywhere there are inscriptions “entrance (passage) by blessing.” It doesn't look much like a monastery. I’m not an expert, much less a person close to religion, but in other similar institutions there is a main building, but none was found here. Maybe because of modern realities, we are accustomed to sparkling, well-kept monasteries. Of more interest was the wall of the monastery, which runs along the road. I have no desire to return. Okay, at least admission is free.

(Translated by Google) It's quite unusual to "rate" places like this. So I'll just describe my feelings. This was my first time entering the territory of the convent. I was in the men's, but never in the women's. And the first feeling was like I was in a place where I was healing and comforted. Such energy, in my opinion, is as if the Sisters of Mercy live here. Everything is so truly femininely groomed. Everywhere there is a woman's hand and vision. Where a man would not even pay attention to something - women's hands made it all dear to the heart. I didn’t visit churches, I just went with an escort into the territory of the monastery.

The child stroked a chained barking dog, here they scolded you. Don’t touch the animals. But for that you can sell zucchini to a man on the threshold of the chapel))) In general There is no desire to visit this place twice.

Clean beach, good restaurant (a little overpriced if you ask me), need to be a little careful with water as there are a lot of big stones underwater.

Pavlovskiy Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Pavlovskiy Park is a sprawling 18th-century landscape surrounding a palace-turned-museum, boasting English-style gardens, water features, and classical-style buildings like the Apollo Colonnade and the Temple of Friendship. Spanning over 600 hectares, it's renowned as one of Europe's finest landscape parks. During summer, the park blooms with diverse flowers and offers families a perfect place for leisurely walks.
Magnificent place with intricate ceilings, beautiful in laid floors, spectacular chandeliers and amazing art work. Each room more grand than the other. What palace would be complete without its own theater!

A very beautiful and big park where one could walk and contemplate beauty for hours. There are lots of trees that look like a wild forest but it is obvious that they are also looked after. I did not go into the museums so can't say about them.

Beautiful palace not far from the more touristy Tsarskoye Selo. Beautiful, intimate rooms in a fabulous park setting. The interiors are exquisite. No crowds when I visited. I recommend paying extra to see the private apartments of the dowager empress

Really great place to walk around. Visited in winter. Beautiful snow and icy Park. Probably even better in summer
Daniel V — Google review
A park that my family loves to walk during the summer. Our trip out this weekend was a bit early in the season and the weather was a bit chilly. During the summer that gardens are full or different kinds of flowers. There are even parts of the park where a person can go and lay out in the grass, a true luxury in Russia. Be sure and bring some nuts as there are many hungry squirrels who will gladly come get them out of your hand. This is a lot of fun for kids.

Museum
History Museums
The Memorial Lyceum Museum is a vast complex consisting of six buildings that offer a deep dive into literary and cultural history. Visitors can explore the museum's exhibits and learn about the prestigious Imperial Lyceum in Tsarskoe Selo, which operated from 1811 to 1843 and counted 286 graduates during its existence.
See where Aleksander Pushkin wrote his first poems as he studied in this Liceum 1811-1817.

Sad to say, we could not get in as it was too late in the day, but surely we would as it's a gateway to understand their literature and culture.

(Translated by Google) An interesting memorial museum dedicated to the childhood years and studies at the Imperial Lyceum of the great Russian poet. He was, of course, a very contradictory personality despite his undeniable talent. The work of Alexander Pushkin is our national treasure. The entrance ticket prices are high in my opinion. 800 rubles with excursion service. The management seems to be interested in making money from tourists. Even for disabled children there is no free entry. Groups of visitors come one after another. Like a conveyor belt. Museum "Tsarskoye Selo" is a captivating historic site that encompasses multiple imperial palaces and an extensive landscaped park adorned with beautiful gardens. It's advisable to make reservations in advance as the place tends to be crowded, especially during the fall season when the enchanting walks through the park are particularly popular.
Beatiful palace in a pleasant town. Nice gardens and beautiful architecture. Make sure your camera/phone is charged. You will be taking a lot of pictures. Just remember the palace itself is closed on Tuesdays. Gardens are still available though.

Everything was ok except for the exorbitant price for a ticket for a foreigner. 2500 rubles for a 30 minute tour with minimal English. In Europe we have the same prices for everyone.
Marián T — Google review
I come back after 8 years. The exterior and the park are really amazing, a must see. About the interior tour, re her living zone, which I did for the first time, well, I am not sure is something to be seen... First of all you will discover that almost everything was bombed or robbed during second world war, so you are looking to a replica, which is taking away all the magic from it since......since let us be honest, interiors are unreal ugly. Too much of everthing without real balance and well thought details. And when you see it as a replica, you start to think 💬 well why to remake such a kitsch interior and not even to the end (not all the rooms have been restored until the end ). Also, the guide we had was so boring, lots of details repeating over and over... In general, the visit to the interior I won't recommend it, you won't loose anything. The park yes, that is a piece of art to be seen.
Ugo R — Google review
Beautiful. Grand. Bold. The palace is stunning and both the Catherine and Alexander parks are beautiful. I really want to visit the Alexander Palace when it opens after renovations. Which may take years sadly. The Amber Room is amazing. The post war photos of the destruction are sobering
HL R — Google review
Exhilarating experience to see so much grandeur and beauty! The interiors of Catherine's Palace are truly awe-inspiring, especially the Amber Room. Entry into the Palace always involves a longish queue, but it's worth it. If you have the stamina, don't miss out the stunning Palace gardens either. As splendid as the Palace interiors.
Sumer S — Google review
A great place just a train or a bus ride from St. Petersburg. The park is beautiful and the palace tour is nice. Be prepared to wait in line for about 30 minutes to an hour since there are a lot of visitors and due to the capacity, only certain number are allowed every 15 minutes.
Milan S — Google review
Beautifully restored back to almost original greatness. Displays the crazy wealth of the Romanovs. Also a nice example of the Russian taste for gold and ornaments. Best to visit off season to avoid the largest hordes of tourists.
Thomas R — Google review
A don't miss site in St Petersburg. Tickets go on sale 30 days prior, don't miss the date, they will be sold out 29 days prior (the tixs for Catherine Palace). You can still get a tix via a long line or by joining a tour. All of the rooms are beautiful but the amber room alone is worth the visit.

Catherine Park is a sprawling urban park that was once the estate of a nobleman. It features lush greenery, ponds, and walking paths. The park reflects the preferences of multiple generations of Romanovs, blending elaborate formal gardens with a picturesque landscaped park adorned with charming follies. Visitors can explore various attractions within the park for an admission fee, including the Grotto, Maids of Honour Garden, and Hanging Garden.
In keeping with all the opulence the Catherine Park is amazing again I am glad I did not have to fit the bill over the years. But a number of splendid features and it takes a long time to walk around. It took us a few hours to cover all the sites and take in the atmosphere.

Catherine Palace, it is a park in Tsarskaya Village, Russia, located 25 km southeast of St. Petersburg. Catherine Park gets its name from Catherine Palace, and the park is divided into two parts: the Garden and the English Garden. When you come to St. Petersburg, you should take a stroll and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the area
C J — Google review
The park itself is nice, but the palace is super underwhelming inaccessible. You have to buy ticket for each small section of the palace, and it’s quite pricey as well. In addition, there is absolute no English translation, no English audio or tour guide, and the staff does not speak any English at all as well.
Minh N — Google review
There are a lot of beautiful places around the world where you will feel happy and relaxed yourself. And Catherine Park is definitely one of those places. I had so warm walk with my soulmate in the amazing place with incredible views just everywhere you turn your head. The perennial trees, ponds, beautiful buildings with a long history. So precious moments of life.🤍

My family's favorite park grounds. We walk the grounds at least once a year. There are lots of fun paths for kids to explore. If you bring nuts you can also sometimes feed squirrels or chickadees. Don't forget to walk behind the palace to the left and explore some lovely gardens with statues there.
Aaron B — Google review
Amazing gardens. There are several pavilion to visit and they all have wildly different styles, which makes it fun. Some are available to visit with a ticket (like the amazing Cold Baths, where the Agathe Rooms are located) and some can be visited for free (like the Chinese style pavilion and the Italian Style pavilion with authentic roman mosaics from the 2nd century) Just strolling around is nice, and they are more chilled than Petergof, with lots of locals enjoying the scene.

Smol'nyy Cathedral

Russian Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Architectural Buildings
Smolny Cathedral, an 18th-century Baroque Russian Orthodox church, is a stunning sight to behold with its sky blue facade and domes. Designed by Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli in 1748 as a nunnery complex, it features audio tours and a belfry observation platform offering panoramic views of the city. The cathedral's beauty is especially emphasized during sunrise or sunset when the sun's golden rays gently bathe its exterior.
This blue and white Baroque-style cathedral is a real masterpiece of Russian architecture, built from 1748 to 1757. It's one of the best places I visited during my trip to Russia. A must-visit if you are in St. Petersburg. The view from the top of the cathedral is amazing, it took my breath away.
Google review
It is being renovated as when I visited, it seems like just painted white and bright blue. It is very beautiful and you can walk around. You can get inside the cathedral but cannot get inside the buildings around as they are currently the university.
Gunruthai C — Google review
The interior of the church is not so special but the design and ornaments of the building is ravishing. You can use the stairs inside the church to climb top of the building. It takes some effort but the view is worth it.
Ahmet K — Google review
Truly a "wow" from afar and inside. Probably one of the most beautiful cathedrals I have seen with the calm blue exterior and the "pure" white ( and some gold) interior. The Cathedral was founded in 1748 by the empress Elizabeth Petrovna and was consecrated on July 20, 1835. There are scheduled visits to the belfry. Around the main cathedral are several other buildings that also served as a girls school. Definitely worth a visit.
Vincent O — Google review
It's not quite like the other cathedrals in Russia. It has more elegant decorating. Though one part is still under reconstruction, you can walk inside and see white walls with golden images of the saints. Also you can take around 280 steps up to the bell tower, to see the city.
Iolanta C — Google review
Beautiful Smol’nyy. You have to wear Long pants and cover your head for ladies. The top is accessible for a fee. The place is very very beautiful with a back garden. Highly recommended as not much tourist around and you can enjoy the place taking photos.

The Alexander Park, established in the 1770s and expanded by Emperor Alexander in the early 19th century, offers a serene natural setting for various recreational activities. The park features water bodies weaving through wild forest-like landscapes and even boasts Pushkin's famous natural spring.
Very clean and immense. I was there at the end of October. The trees are no longer leafy, there are few and for an autumn photo, you don't have the desired effect. I think it's my fault, but it'll certainly be better in winter. On the other hand, it's really beautiful.

Anichkov Bridge, a historic structure dating back to 1841 and reconstructed in 1908, is adorned with iconic horse tamer sculptures. Situated on Nevsky Prospect, it offers picturesque views of the Fontanka River and is surrounded by former imperial palaces. The bridge's iron railings feature intricate patterns of mermaids and seahorses.
My favourite bridge. Stunning. I could stare at the statues for hours. When the Fontanka froze I went and walked on the ice and it looks beautiful from the ice. Equally stunning on the pavement or by boat in warm weather. Highly recommend the trip up Nevsky to see it

Alex D — Google review
Decorative bridge in the place where Fontanka river meets Nevsky Prospekt. The bridge itself is not that long, though, some tens of meters. But views at and around and statues also are definitely worth a visit. Especially during the light nights.
Juha N — Google review
This is a famous bridge in St. Petersburg that crosses the Fontanka River along Nevsky Prospekt. It is a relatively short crossing that is decorative and features four landmark sculptures of horse tamers. Constructed in 1841-42, the bridge features appealing iron railings. However, the highlight is seeing the four large horse tamer sculptures, which were installed at the two ends of the bridge between 1849-50. These are individually impressive works of art, particularly for those who enjoy viewing sculptures and statues. Note: The Anichkov Bridge and its sculptures are particularly nice to see when viewed from the opposite bank to the pink coloured Beloselsky-Belozersky Palace. If you position yourself correctly, you can capture all in the same frame, allowing some decent pictures to be taken. In the end, we liked the Anichkov bridge. This is a quick attraction to view and enjoy if you find yourself in this area of St. Petersburg during your visit to the city.

I likes this place a bit crowdy good for kids even for adults who likes fishes . Variety of fishes across the globe are there. For each fish they maintained proper aura with sound effects. I likes star fish as this my first experience. Piranha was available. Sharks are there. Penguins and seals are I the last. Jelly fish was amazing and snake fish alsi available. The cave was amazing there is a conveyer belt just stand on that and it will take you through that cave made of glass and you will feel like small shark is going to attack you as they are swimming close to your head. Just was the best part of oceanarium . Any tourist must visit this place. Hope this will help you.

Very good place in St Ptb. It is almost as good as the aquarium in Moscow. The only bad stuff is that there is not enough distance between people, and sometimes people is too near.

Worth going with kids. Even if there are posters with “no photoshoot has with light” there are authorized staff who will take professionally photos of you and your family. During shows like feeding a shark there are a hole lot of people and you have to take your sit beforehand. Otherwise you won’t be able to see anything. Observing area is very very small. Some fishes are in not so good condition from my point of view (i don’t have any knowledge in tho field though), but their tanks are to small to maneuver. Makes me sad 😞 Souvenir shop is full of seashells.

There is animal abuse, how is possible that a turtle doesn't have any space to move because there is not enough room, and the excuses for it aren't good reasons

Amazing place with thousands of different fishes . But some fishes had too little space to move around .

Cruiser Aurora is a historic museum ship that played a significant role in the Russo-Japanese War, the Russian Revolution of 1917, and World War II. This retired Russian naval ship has an armored deck and holds a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. It survived the Battle of Tsushima during the Russo-Japanese War and was involved in marking the beginning of the Russian Revolution with its cannon fire.
This ship is a floating museum that actively participated in many significant historical events throughout the 20th century, such as the Russo-Japanese War and the Bolshevik Revolution. It’s truly amazing to walk around its corridors. Public figures such as Yuri Gagarin, Fidel Castro, and even Xi Jinping have visited this place, and there are photos of them and many others. I just wish there were more information in English, but it is worth visiting regardless, especially during sunset when you can take beautiful photos on the deck.

Why is the ticket price for foreigners higher than for Russians? 1000 rubles for a 10-minute tour with minimal English is quite a lot. That's why we bought a ticket for just one person for 1000 rubles instead of two for 1200 rubles. In Europe we have the same prices for everyone.

After waiting in line for approximately 47 minutes from 2:30 PM, we finally entered the Aurora around 3:30. The ticket price for foreigners was 1,000 rubles, while Russian residents paid 600 rubles. There are also special rates for groups, people with disabilities, and retirees. (It takes around 30 mns to roam around the ship but if you’re interested it would take double the time). The ship itself is beautifully preserved. it’s clear that great care is taken with its upkeep, from the fresh paint to its cleanliness. Stepping aboard felt like traveling back in time, offering a fascinating glimpse into what naval ships of the past were like. As someone who loves history & vintage treasures, I truly appreciated this opportunity and am thankful to Russia for preserving such an iconic piece. At last, The only unfortunate thing is that there was nothing explained in English, so I had to take photos in order to translate, to understand the information. Exploring the interior was both educational and captivating. Visitors can see how naval soldiers once lived, including the spaces they worked in and even the utensils they ate with. It’s an experience I’m glad to have had, & I’m happy to share some photos from my visit.

Good place to visit, especially if you are interested in military. Tickets are slightly on the pricer side given that there's not much to see. Great place nonetheless.

Minimal english in the museum. There is audio guide but nobody knows english so even buying audio guide can be challenging.

Memorial to the ship that started the Bolshevik revolution (allegedly) : the Aurora. Well preserved vessel, interactive and informative displays.
