Churches & Cathedrals
Røros Church, also known as Roros kirke in Norwegian, is a significant landmark in the town of Røros, Norway. It replaced an older church and is made of stone, a rarity for its time. With seating for 1,600 people, it's one of Norway's largest churches and holds historical importance as one of the country's top ten churches. The church overlooks the town and bears the inscription "To God's Glory and the Mining Town's beauty.
Beautiful in the Snow I only got to see Røros Kirke from the car, but even from a distance, it was stunning. Surrounded by snow, the church stood out with its charm, looking both grand and peaceful at the same time. The white landscape made it feel even more magical, like something out of a winter postcard. Even without going inside, just seeing it in that setting was a great experience. Definitely a place worth visiting, especially in the snow!

Give this church a miss. The entry fee 60NOK and opens at 11 am. The outer facade is pleasant enough. I love visiting old churches so went in with high hopes. Was very disappointed with the interior. It was very plain and nothing unique or notable.
Bharathi M — Google review
Beautiful church. In July 2025 it was closed for construction.
Kaisar T — Google review
60 kr nok for entry per adult. Children free. The church has three floors and is well maintained. Nothing spectacular but worth a visit to support the maintenance and see a bit of the cultural heritage of Røros. There is no line here. Try to figure out if there is a concert here. The sound is good here.
Håvard ( — Google review
The recently renovated church is a gem, and the local guide was very knowledgeable. It is even possible to go upstairs and admire the beautiful interior from above. I also did not know that the church was used in the first general election in 1814. Lots to learn and admire here.

Nice experienced i had, very historic place and it's good to know about what had happened years and years ago, I like the audio..it was very helpful and accurate to narrate and tell directions. Nice experienced I had with my husband.

Overlooking the town stands Røros church, which replaced an older, smaller church in 1780, is built in stone, not a matter or course at that time in Norway and can seat 1,600 people which makes it one of the largest churches in Norway. Bergstadens Ziir" which literally means "the mining to Over the entrance to the church a sign says "Til Guds Ære og Bergstadens Ziir" which means "to God's Glory and the Mining Town’s beauty”. Bergstaden Røros had become wealthy and grown considerably, and there was no lack of self-esteem. Visit the church and visit one of two of the mines around town! Of course I was pleased to see that the modern (protestant) Church of Norway and its priests have no problem with gay weddings. Good on you!

(Norwegian: Røros kirke) is a parish church in Røros municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Located in the town of Røros, it is the main church for the Røros parish which is part of the Gauldal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The church seats about 1,600 people, making it the 5th largest church within the Church of Norway. It is also ranked by Riksantikvaren as one of the ten most important churches in Norway. Worth to go. Join a guide tour for 1-1.5hr in Roros Museum kr.130 included the entrance ticket of this church.

Rørosmuseet Smelthytta

History Museums
Nestled in the heart of Røros, the Rørosmuseet Smelthytta stands as a testament to the town's rich mining history. This captivating museum is situated on the grounds of a former copper-smelting facility that tragically burned down in 1975. Visitors can immerse themselves in interactive exhibits featuring intricate models that showcase traditional water- and horse-powered smelting techniques.
Did a guided tour around the town which was arranged by the museum. Absolutely recommend it to everyone visiting Røros! It was very interesting to learn more about the history, and our tour guide, Oliver, was extremely knowledgeable and engaging! To top it all off, the tour ended with a visit inside the church, which is one of the more unique churches I have seen!
T-H — Google review
A magnificent museum devoted to the exploration of copper in the Røros region starting in the 16 hundreds and going on till the late 1970's. The life of the workers in the harsh climate becomes evident, in particular since we visited a summer Saturday of July 2025 with 30 degrees in the shade. People from Røros flocked to the dam upstreams from the museum to swim. After having left the museum closing at 5 pm we noticed we had left the turner of grandma, 98, inside the closed museum. I managed to find one of the technicians, Åge Sandnes, who came back on his motor bike to save our day. Many thanks!!
Sebastian R — Google review
If you like history. If you want to understand some of the underlying lines in old Norwegian sosial struktures. Understanding how much work that had to be done to manage to mine just one kilograme of Copper. And how many tons of wood that had to be cut....How many hours of laybour from humans and horses. Then this is a place to spend some hours in Røros. Nice guided tour can be bought.😃

One of the best museums I've ever been to. A lot of imagination has gone into making all the exhibits.
Tsvetelin P — Google review
Great museum Suggest to first go to the olive mine and then visit the museum (follow the flow of the ore) The museum is situated in the former copper melter factory Gives good insight in the process, the history, the society and working conditions Especially the scale models are worth a visit on its own We watched the Norwegian version of the film, later we figured out that there is also an English version (displayed alternating) Recommended a visit Have fun
Wim R — Google review
Very educative museum and area if you are into history.
Morten — Google review
Great small museum about the refining and mining process of copper as a cultural heritage of the town. Basement is the main museum whereas the second floor is whatever temporary exhibit they may host. You can also walk about the area outside where the slagg mountain is for free

Røros is a unique place to visit and the Smelthytta Museet contributes to it. The museum is a travel back to time, not very big. If you pass by and have time, visit it.

So glad we booked. After driving for a number of hours we stopped in for 3 hours of walking, animals, food and some fun family orientated rides and attractions that our daughter really enjoyed. The park isn't huge, but that means you can manage to walk it easily in a few hours, although we could also have spent longer. We saw a few of the animals, but we late for the feedings. We had a snack at the restaurant and the food was good and relatively fast. There was hand disinfectant at every station and everything was clean. Some rides were closed due to Covid19, which was a bummer, but better to be safe. If we are ever passing by again we will definately stop. Well worth the visit.
Bruce H — Google review
Very entertaining, interesting and family-friendly park. We really got close up with the animals and experienced some unforgettable moments. Many activities for the kids. If you pass through this area with the family I highly recommend paying a visit. Campsite and hotel on the other side of the road.
Eivind L — Google review
Very nice animal park with lots of activities for kids. Animals were hiding in the shade when we were there in 30c. Understandable. We wanted to join the bear in its shade.
Robert K — Google review
Very friendly People and a great place to relax. A small restaurant s also available. Enjoy a beautiful day.
Nils S — Google review
Average experience. The staff tried their best but there were too many issues to fully enjoy it.
Sigrid H — Google review
Beautifully maintained and green zoo. The animal enclosures are very large, sometimes a challenge to see them.
Romain M — Google review
Nice family park , it has really nice combination between the animals they have and the activities that you can enjoy , for sure during the summer time so you can enjoy more outside to grill and chill out 👍
Sam A — Google review
Nice place for children in the age 3+. Plenty animals and activities. Even if it consumes some money to spend a day there for a family, it is a memory that children remembers. Some activities has to be paid for extra, in addition to the entrance fee, like the Zip-line (photo), the climbing area and the internal shuttle train. The crash-boats were fun, but there was also a lot of people waiting for thos, so expect some waiting there. Also the downhill carting/roller coaster was fun for the kids, but might not be something for those below 4years old. The day we were there, it was more than 30deg temperature...

Tännforsen Waterfall

Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Thundering cascade with hiking trails & riverside views, also popular when frozen in winter.
Amazing and dramatic waterfalls! Easy parking and a short walk. You pay for parking and that supports the upkeep of the visiting area.
Adam R — Google review
An unforgettable experience! We visited Tännforsen with our dog and had an amazing time. The trails were easy to walk and there were plenty of spots to stop and take in the breathtaking views. The power of the waterfall is incredible – you can feel the mist from the lookout points! It’s a peaceful, well-kept area with a nice little café and clean facilities nearby. Super dog-friendly and perfect for a nature break near Åre. Highly recommended!
Nadsma K — Google review
Spectacular waterfall, Sweden's largest. Beautiful natural surroundings, forest, lake and different unique species of plants. There aren't many parking spots available, especially during the summer season. Definitely worth the detour if you're in the area.
Max B — Google review
One of the best waterfall in Sweden. There are 4 different view points. Well maintained walkway. Parking is paid and Easypark application can be used for it.
Jaimin M — Google review
We visited Tännforsen in the month of August. It's just wow. A must visit place in Åre. From the parking lot, it's a 350m walk to the spot. There are various walking paths to reach the waterfall. You get to witness the fall from a closer view, it's just amazing. Parking costs 46 SEK, by default.
Spoorthy M — Google review
Sweden's largest waterfall. It was nice and relatively easy to reach. Parking was expensive, 40 kr/h
Sari H — Google review
✨ Best Waterfall in Sweden – A Must Visit! ✨ This is honestly the best waterfall we’ve seen in Sweden, and it’s definitely worth a visit! A few tips and things to know before you go: • 🌿 It’s a peaceful spot with very few people around – not at all crowded. • 📶 Public Wi-Fi is available right at the waterfall. Once you arrive, you can easily connect, which is great if you don’t have mobile internet. • 💳 Parking costs 40 SEK minimum for 2 hours. You can pay online or directly at the machine. The machine is super easy to use – just tap your bank card (contactless payment works). • 🚗 There’s plenty of parking available on-site. • 🛍️ You’ll find a souvenir shop and a couple of coffee shops nearby, but note that they close at 6 PM. • 💦 The waterfall itself is open 24/7! Don’t worry about the closing time listed on google map (we thought it closed at 6 PM, but it doesn’t). You can visit anytime, day or night. We went in a rush thinking it would close, but it turns out the waterfall is always open. It’s calm, beautiful, and easy to access – highly recommended!
Safar A — Google review
We actually stumbled across this place during our vanlife experience from Norway to Sweden. Our expectations weren't high as we'd seen some incredible waterfalls in Norway. But wow this on was a beast !! The thunderous noise and volume of water was simply amazing. If you are visiting Åre skiing its worth the hours journey to visit this place.

Vemdalsskalet

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
A network of slopes & lifts on 2 different mountains, with winter sports & a children's area.
Lots of lifts and a decent selection of slopes for skiers of all skill levels. Trail maintenance is done every morning. Ski rental is fast and professional. The cafes on the mountain tops are great and have wonderful views! At the beginning of some lifts there are houses to warm yourself and campfire sites to cook. Ski lifts usually operate from 9am to 4.30pm. A very nice place for a ski holiday!
Eva G — Google review
Great Swedish ski resort and not to touristic. You can even see reindeers if you're lucky, can't wait for the planned expansions to make this even better. It's not Åre but the slopes are really nice!
Dennis M — Google review
A good week with limited amount of guests so fast queuing in the lifts. Some technical problems on the West but sunshine compensates. Supersmooth automation of ski passes and very good admin if queues.
Henrik E — Google review
Vemdalskalet – Great skiing in beautiful nature, but the architecture… Vemdalskalet offers a fantastic ski area with well-maintained slopes and stunning natural surroundings. The skiing experience is top-notch, and it’s easy to enjoy your time out on the mountain. However, the architecture in the area is surprisingly poor. Many of the buildings seem oddly designed, with questionable material choices, poorly painted facades, and uninviting entrances. It often feels like a case of “good intentions, bad execution.” The overall impression is unfortunately dragged down by what might be some of the most mismatched and aesthetically challenged buildings in Sweden — a real contrast to the beauty of the surrounding nature.
Pal L — Google review
Great place for beginners and intermediate skier's. 4 stars is based on Swedish ski resorts. If based on world wide it gets 2 stars.
Johan — Google review
Super place for winter vacation - we did spend great time with my family.

Local history museum
Museums
Jamtli is a captivating museum that offers a journey through local culture, spanning from the Viking era to native crafts and historic ways of life. Located just 1km north of the center, it comprises two parts: an open-air museum with meticulously reconstructed wooden buildings and enthusiastic guides in 19th-century period costumes, and an indoor museum housing the oldest European Overhogdal Tapestries and Christian Viking relics from AD 1100.
I went here in September and was pleasantly surprised by this museum. It was very large and had a lot of interactive exhibits for children and adults alike. I stayed for several hours and it was very cool to get to learn so much about this beautiful area.
Rebecca H — Google review
Lovely authentic musuem both in summer and winter! They also organize markets once in a while, and especially their Christmas market is great. Great place to learn more about the history of Sweden and Jämtland
Dennis M — Google review
Jamtli is a wonderful open-air museum that beautifully brings history and culture to life. The exhibits are interactive and engaging, showcasing traditional Swedish life through buildings, artifacts, and live demonstrations. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate, making the experience educational and fun for all ages. It’s perfect for families, history lovers, and curious travelers. Jamtli offers a delightful blend of learning, storytelling, and authentic Scandinavian charm.

A must see for travelers. For a descendant of this region it was a joy to see the culture and history of my ancestors. The museum is very well thought out and executed, and contains much more than I had expected. Like almost everywhere, the staff spoke English and were very pleasant and accommodating. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!
Barry E — Google review
For kids who speak Swedish a fun museum I imagine. The downstairs area is interesting but completely in Swedish, an app they have available has translations but only partly. Not all features available in Swedish are available in English or German. The national museum partly has English information alongside Swedish. If you enjoy looking at your phone just as much as looking at the exhibits this might be for you.

Vildriket

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Great concept, with a collection of Nordic fauna and flora. Well set up, with a wooden walkway all around the mountain forest park overlooking the animal enclosures, and with lovely very Swedish rest spots along the way, with grilling facilities. Open every day of the year, from 10:00-15:00. It says on GoogleMaps that people typically spend 20 min to 1 hr at Vildriket. I think that is a gross underestimation. We spent about 4 hrs there ourselves. I think it would also be nice to pay a visit in the evening when the animals are a little more active, especially with all the owl species they have.
Helen H — Google review
Such a gem! We had a wonderful time. We spent there 2.5 hours and even though it was raining it didn't make the experience any less exciting. The platforms were not slippery at all even when wet. Each animals had a wonderful story with interesting facts. There were only two exhibits that didn't have animals due to very clearly explained reasons. There were a lot of public toilets available with small distances from each other.
Sona M — Google review
Easy walk on the wooden path. Lots to see, lots of good information, and nicely shaded. The animals looked well cared for. Information is in Swedish with English summaries. I enjoyed this as a solo adult traveler, probably even better for kids. Note that they rebranded to Vildsriket from Järvsö Zoo and Google Maps can still be a bit messy.
Hannah L — Google review
Excellent park to go with kids. Easy to navigate, lots of different animals to see, and well maintained. It's great to see animals being preserved and people being educated. It's also right next to a ski slope, and within the park itself there are like obstacle courses for kids tbag makes it fun for kids to be engaged. We really enjoyed our visit.

First of all where do I start? I had a fantastic stay at the Wolf Hotel. From start to finish it was amazing! An unforgettable experience. Everybody was so kind from Jensen to Karin, and all the other staff I had the pleasure of meeting, thank you! Breakfast in the other hotel everyday was really yummy. It had everything you could want! I even ate there in the evening, it was delicious. Now for the hotel... I heard the wolves howling as soon as I walked in 😂.The room was super spacious, warm and very comfortable. I had everything I needed. The little kitchenette upstairs was very well equipped and clean. The whole property for cleanliness I would rate 10/10. I did venture into the zoo at night a little bit, it was snowing when I went and the whole atmosphere was magical. I saw all the animals!! (except the bears of course) The animals were so friendly and came up close so I was able to see the them all! The wolverines I think we're my FAVOURITE. I had never seen one before and they were so interactive and fun! Each animal was of course gorgeous! It was amazing to see them all. The wolves you can tell are so well looked after, from the fur to the size of them. I have been to other zoos in UK where they look thin and unhappy but not at Järvzoo. Each time I went past the wolf pen they came out and were very interested. The whole park is beautiful. I went at the start of November and I am so glad I did. There are so many things to discover. The town is very nice to walk around, the buildings are very quaint. I definitely fell in love with Sweden especially Järvzoo. I cannot wait to come back and hopefully soon! ❤️🐺🦊🦌
Yinka S — Google review
Great, well-maintained park with large animal enclosures and many picnic areas. Playground and 2 cafe/restaurant options onsite. Great views of the valley from many spots in the park. Tickets are not cheap but the place is well worth a visit.
Alexander L — Google review
A must visit place for the entire family.. Beautiful animal park built into the hillside forest. Good facilities inside the park and its just like an escape from everyday life.. Easy to spend 2-4 hours here in the summer months at least..
Pete S — Google review
Järvzoo is a fantastic Nordic zoo set in a beautiful forest in the heart of Sweden. The sweeping boardwalk makes the experience much more natural as if you’re peering down into the habitat of animals in the wild. One thing to note is that some of the main attractions such as the bears will be hibernating during the colder winter months so make sure to plan your trip depending on what you’re hoping to see.

5-star experience! After roaming around at the fortress last month we had lunch at the restaurant where I asked if they served Swedish Meatballs (this was off menu). The friendly waitress informed us that would be no problem and immediately requested the chef to make a *delicious* dish of Swedish meatballs with potato mousse - free of charge!! It is without a doubt that we will return and introduce our guests to the fortress and welcoming restaurant.
Casper G — Google review
Best view (by far), lunch buffet and prices in Sweden. Will come back!!
Mat S — Google review
Its all about the view and the history about Hemsö färstning. The restaurant is of good quality, looks and feel newly built. Get the "good table" close to the cannon and enjoy you meal, beer och glas of wine. Very friendly staff. Be prepared for bus-tours visiting, so from beeing completly empy the restaurant (and its toilets) can be full in mather of minutes. Great place, you should go.
Jim S — Google review
The guided tour was fantastic, apart from an old worker from the base that kept interrupting our awesome tour guide and trying to take over the show, feel really sorry for our guide, we could tell he was losing the interest of speaking because of the old guy after a few stops. The restaurant on the other hand , the buffet looked like a disgrace, sure if you want to pay 120kr for a salad buffet go ahead but me and the 6 others decided to drive an hour to find more appealing food, sorry guys but you need to pick up your game in the kitchen.
The K — Google review
The restaurant was open airy with big windows facing the sea. When the weather is.good.you also have some tables outside to use. Really good food and polite staff. This is a lunch restaurant. If you like military history and good food this is the place.

We (my wife and two daughters, aged 7 & 10) spend 3 days with Morgan - and the kids summed it up like this: "It was the best thing we've ever done!" Despite extreme weather conditions (-35 degrees Celsius) Morgan managed to make this an unforgettable experience. The well-being of his huskies and his guests is always his top priority - he meticulously plans each tour and adapts it to the age / condition of his guests. We were very professionally provided with warm clothing and he took such great care of our children that they were able to cope with the cold. The way he treats his huskies is amazing - the anti-commercial way. Of course he could do more tours per day and probably make more money, but for him it is more important that his huskies are not overworked and always have enough energy reserves to make the trip safely. And the huskies pay him back by being so kind and caring to the children. We have done husky tours in Finland and with another company in Sweden - but Morgan's way of doing it really stands out. We will definitely be back for many more tours with the one and only Morgan :-)!

Superb experience that you need to do at least once in your life! Morgan is such a great man and his dogs are super friendly! Everything was perfect: the first approach to the sleighs, the ride, the food. Suggested!

Amazing experience in a winter wonderland! We had a great day and dog sledding tour with Wild Lapland! Morgan offered us a very warm and friendly welcome. It was a magical experience, the landscape is really beautiful and the huskies are all so lovely and friendly. We enjoyed helping him to get the dogs ready with the harnesses at the begining and giving food at the end. We loved also the fika paus (coffee break) that Morgan prepared for us, it was really nice and tasty. We had an incredible experience that we won't forget! Tack så mycket för allting

Very nice pace if you like dogs and nature! In my opinion at Wild Lapland you have 3 elements for a perfect day: nice host lowing nature and animals, more than 30 dogs running around you, and a wonderful nature!

Our husky dog sledging tour with Wild Lapland and our guide Morgan was out of this world!! Morgan’s skill and friendly approach made our morning on the sledge a totally absorbing tour in which you feel at one with nature, with his dogs, with Lapland and with yourself. The clothing and gear that is including in the tour is of such a high standard. We went out with -35 degrees and the only thing that got cold were my hands when I took pictures! You might think the price of the tour is quite high but your not paying for a regular tour this is a life time experience that you’ll never forget! So authentic!

Thank you Morgan, for a excellent day tour on februari 11th! It concerns all details, the fantastic surrounding, lovely dogs and last but least your enthousiasm and passion for what you are doing. The love for your dogs in first place and then your business. Thanks again! You have new ambassadors! Best regards from Marjolein, Rudy, Esmėe and Guido Post from the Netherlands.

Lycksele Zoo

Zoo

Nice to experience. We went there Saturday during the winter and they are only open with reservation. I was able to book with them in their FB account. When we were there, the zoo is empty of people and saw that there are only 2 groups booked for that day. It was a very exclusive experience since virtually it was just us on the zoo so we were able to enjoy the place. And it's very interesting to see animals during the winter.
Michael G — Google review
We went there around 14:30. The food has finished in the cafeteria so we had to survive with just drinks. I suggest them to have food until the zoo closes. We took the train to see around. It was a good experience. We saw some animals. But I wish there were more animals to worth the entrance fee of 250 sek. Clean and tidy.
Dil A — Google review
Really liked the zoo. We saw arctic fox, muskox, moose, wolf and some other animals 👍🏻
Mitul S — Google review
Feeding time was the best part.
Umme H — Google review
The animals are well cared for and they have english information for most animals. Recommended for family or couples, it’s a lot of walking so be careful if you have bad knees. They offer a ”train” that will take you around the park as they are about to feed the animals
Stamppe — Google review
Too expensive considering the number of animals and activities in the zoo, otherwise an ok ZOO On mountain top.
Haseeb B — Google review
A wonderful zoo experience with family and kids. The park has plenty of animal and fun activities to keep everyone entertained for an entire day. There are bathrooms , small places to grab something to eat all over the place. If you visit for the first time, take the guided tour, you will experiance the entire park. Sweden is expensive and yet the prices here are decent. I will definitely come back here with my family.
Albert A — Google review
A great experience! About an hour walk around the entire place if you stop briefly to see all the animals but you'll stay longer 😁 bears are especially awesome! Make sure to say hi to big boy Gimli 😎😊

Aurora Borealis Adventures

Outdoor Activities
Other Outdoor Activities
Aurora Borealis Adventures, located in Vindeln, offers a range of dogsledding experiences lasting from 1.5 hours to several days. Visitors can enjoy thrilling sleddog tours through snowy landscapes and even spend a night in a teepee surrounded by starlight. The adventure includes interactions with friendly huskies and the opportunity to witness everyday life with 47 huskies. Additionally, guests can indulge in activities like rafting and enjoy the cozy guesthouse accommodation.
The dog sled ride was a very nice experience, we really enjoyed it, including the food that was prepared for us. The dogs were very sweet and super impatient. If we ever go that way again, we will certainly not miss this experience. We thank the guide and chef for this wonderful day.

We went on a sled dog tour today, and Donald, the musher, and the dogs were super friendly. It was an absolutely wonderful experience, a fantastic tour, and the food afterwards in the little cabin is definitely to be recommended. We’re already looking forward to the next time, and we also think this would make a great gift for someone—so if you’re still looking for a Christmas present or something similar, giving a gift voucher would be perfect. Definitely a top recommendation!
Sine N — Google review
My night in the teepee was nothing short of magical. Donald was so kind and accommodating throughout the experience and had lots of tips for our best opportunities to view the aurora. The space was clean, cozy, and in a perfect setting. Morning breakfast was decadent and delicious. I hope that one day I can return to Vindeln to experience another Aurora Borealis Adventure!

It was an amazing experience. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the dogs are so sweet and cute. They give you good clothing to keep you warm during the ride. Lovely trip, I hope to do it again!! One recommendation: if you go by car, better if you don't use electric. The options for charging are relatively far, although they can be reached.

A wonderful experience for the whole family! We visited Aurora Borealis Adventures in late January with our two young children (4 and 2 y/o). Donald, the owner, and Jan warmly welcomed us and took the time to introduce us to their dogs, sharing insights into their special bond. We were fortunate to have a nice sunny day for our dog sledding tour, which couldn't have been nicer. After the tour, we enjoyed spending more time with the dogs before chilling in the cozy, newly built hut, where we were treated to hot chocolate, hot dogs, and engaging conversations. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience with the Aurora borealis adventures team! The owner and guide welcomed us warmly, gave us proper winter gear and instructions on how to mush. The route we took was beauuutiful and in the middle of nowhere. We got back and had a delicious salmon soup In probably one of the most coziest tepees ever. Thank you all for the wonderful experience. Definitely return again the next time I’m around.

We loved our teepee tour with dogsledding. Ian, our guide was really nice. The huskis are super friendly, it was a bit hot for them (+1 degrees) so we had to run and push sometimes but it was a good workout to see amazing views of snowy wetlands and forest. We finished the tour by a dinner of black bear stew! Really exotic (for us). Even though the sky was too cloudy for Northern lights, the night in the teepee was delightful 😊, very comfy and quiet. We particularly enjoyed the sauna and skinny dip in the snow. The breakfast in bed was also amazing. Thank you so much to the host, we highly recommend!
Célia J — Google review
A wonderful place to stay. We had the opportunity to stay for 7 nights in a cosy guesthouse. In one of those nights we spent 1 night in the tipi surrounded with starlight - just magic! The highlight were the sleddog tours during the day and one night sleddog tour - it was a winterwonderland. Along with the sleddog tours it was an impressive experience to see how wonderful it was to see everyday life with these 47 huskies. We could cuddle them and they loved it. We can highly recommend not to go only for a sleddog tour but also stay some few nights to see how the dogs life is. The owner Donald as well as the dog handler Leata and Arvid do there jobs with enthusiasm and experience. Sylvia, Brigitte und Bige

Guitars - The Museum, located in Umea, Sweden, is a captivating destination for music aficionados and guitar enthusiasts. This renowned museum boasts an extensive assortment of electric guitars and vintage memorabilia, featuring around 500 instruments including basses. Housed within the historic Scharinksa building, which was originally constructed as a family home in 1904, the museum also incorporates a live music venue and hosts exhibitions inspired by music-related photography, fashion, art, and design.
5 stars is nowhere enough but it's all I can give. Phenomenal collection. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Talked for a good while with one of the brothers and the passion and insight was incredible. Visiting Umeå and not going here should be considered a crime 😃 2 hours was minimum for me. Thank you so much for this cultural heritage act of preserving these guitars, amps, etc

Art Museums
Västerbotten Museum, located within the Gammlia museum complex, offers a captivating journey through the history of the province from ancient times to the present day. The museum features a diverse range of exhibitions, including an impressive collection of skiing artifacts dating back thousands of years and an exploration of Sami rock art. Visitors can also enjoy temporary exhibitions, workshops, and activities for children. Additionally, the museum boasts a quality café specializing in organic cuisine.
Super great experience and totally free. There is a gift shop and a cafe you can spend some money at though. There is something for everyone in this museum, its so diverse. If you are interested in art, history, buildings, textiles they have it. If you only got a few hours you might need to pick the most interesting areas. When we visited there were a temporary exhibition about abortion which was heart breaking but such an important topic. If its there go see it. The outdoor part is mostly buildings along with information, which we really appreciated. Its a kilometer plus walk, but well worth it.

The museum have a great vibe. To know the snow-to-stone-to-iron-to-bronze history a great place to visit. Also you can find from where the symbol of Västerbotten county came from (you can try to find also). The buildings/structures outside the main building are also must visit. Do not forget to visit the school and get a lecture from a very cool teacher.

Totally a must go place when your in Umeå! This probably is one of the most vivid museums I’ve ever been. Starting from the ice age until futuristic art, this place covers everything. And it’s even free! While there could be more information in English (use the Google translator app), the artifacts are beautiful and the same goes for the houses as well. I also enjoyed all the artwork which was displayed. Thanks to me visiting the museum on a weekday not in season; there weren’t a lot of people and I could enjoy the art / objects. Totally recommend this place. Also, it’s easily accessible for people in wheelchairs and for cyclists there is a bycicle parking area.

Västerbotten museum locate in the Gammlia area. It's completely free to enter and have a good time here. The stuff they show here is not the most surprising, some of the descriptions only in Swedish. Overall it is still a pretty good museum especially since they have a lot of events going on here.

A good water park for all ages. From two months old to older. Although the park area is not very large, it has a good variety. Two indoor and outdoor pools with safe slides for children up to two years old and two pools for older children. Several different slides for adults, a wave pool, a restaurant and a cafe, sun loungers, and a couple of jacuzzis. Also a sauna and massage (which was closed when we went). The men's and women's changing rooms are clean and tidy. The quality of the food was also very good. The park facilities are not very extensive but good. The price (27 euros for an adult) is very high. Parking is difficult to find during the summer holidays. The various areas are wheelchair accessible. The staff is very friendly.

The receptionist chose the wrong amount of food for us and we reported that to the receptionist but they just said there was nothing they could do because the food was already done , we ended up eating more food than we needed and had to pay for it , I think they should retrain the receptionists and they need to remember to read all the items the customer ordered before proceeding 🙄

I wish I had seen this when this place was new. Strong 5 stars would be for that it is survived over the years. 3 stars only because I want to be honest for others. As activity facility it is surely nice place to be in summer and during warm days for sure. For kids nothing matters all they want is warm water and a lots to play. Adults see and notice that better days has gone and place needs to be updated and renovated into original shine and maintained for customer eyes to that glory that it should be. This all was noticed while sitting in bubble bath and looking to the ceiling and around. Price big or small matters for people with different wallet thickness and taste of surroundings, but I considered it costly for four person family. Now I know and have been and considering going only when price is lowered to the level that premises provide today and not more.

Has something to offer for everyone, even very small slides for our 2 year old child. Temperature is good (water and air) so that you feel comfortable even for longer stays. Showers were very clean. Easily accessible via car and enough parking spaces available. A bit expensive but still ok.

Cannot really complain about anything, beach is close, there is tennis court, padel court, fat bike renting, adventure park Huikee, ice cream shop and a burger joint. More than I bargained for. An okay campground, but a bit noisy at night. Also, it was weird that while their website states their reception is open until 24, they actually closed at 11. I had to take care of some stuff after that, and was greeted with some classic Finnish unfriendliness calling my business “ihme säätö” :D

Value for price does not match. Cabin was desent, but there is no owen, washing machine, drying cabinet. No wi-fi. Those should be standard equipment for so valued area. Also grill is available for extra price 40 euros which also should be included for rent like most of the cabins are.
Marko V — Google review
We stayed in one of the smallest cabins, which was cozy and nice, a bit hot though as we could not keep the door open due to a bee problem throughout the camping grounds. Althought the cabin was nice, the services in the accomodation area seem to be a bit lacking. Not sure if it was the reason that we stayed during August, which is the start of off season, or is it like this all year round. The restaurant Dyyni was not open, when it was said to be open, the grill place was filled with bees, as other guests had left trash out and filled the coal bin with trashes too.. All in all, it felt like the staff had already given up on taking care of the area.

Turku Castle

History museum
Turku Castle, a 13th-century fortress turned museum, offers a glimpse into its transformation from medieval stronghold to Renaissance palace. Situated on the edge of the river Aura since the 1280s, it stands as Finland's largest surviving medieval building and one of only three castles in the country. Despite Turku's Great Fire wiping out much of its medieval splendor, this iconic attraction remains unscathed and is among Finland's most visited sites.
Admittedly I thought this was going to be another tourist trap. On the outside it reminds me a little of Brans Castle but for €16 admission I thought it was going to scarce. I was greeted warmly and it was mentioned that free lockers were available. I was more than happy to drop my cumbersome backpack. I loved the transition between each room, it felt natural with the narrow steps and ceiling and everything had good presented information. Once I had gone round the castle I collected my bag then headed to what was signed as gift shop. I wasn't prepared for another massive tour of things. I spent a good few hours here. Would definitely recommend.
Penny L — Google review
Turku Castle was an impressive and pleasantly surprising visit. At first glance, the exterior didn't seem particularly breathtaking, but as I got closer and walked around the grounds and then inside the castle, I appreciated it a lot more. I spent a full three hours exploring the castle, and there was so much to see and learn. The exhibits were great, with lots information and interactive elements that provided more insight into the intertwined history of Sweden and Finland. One of the things I learned was that this castle used to be on an island and was connected to the mainland later, which I found quite cool. For some reason I was particularly fascinated by all the windows that you could see from the inner courtyard! The little park around the castle is a lovely and peaceful space to walk through. I also have to mention the museum shop, which has a lot of interesting items.
Veronica E — Google review
Turku Castle is an absolutely fascinating place to explore! The architecture, exhibits, and well-preserved rooms really bring Finnish history to life. Walking through the halls feels like stepping back in timem. It’s definitely one of the highlights of Turku and worth spending a couple of hours discovering all its corners. One small tip for future visitors: I couldn’t easily find a public WC or urinals during my visit, even the paid ones. Overall, a wonderful and memorable visit — highly recommended for anyone interested in history, castles, or just enjoying a unique cultural landmark in Finland
Tejiri C — Google review
A historical place that was the central location of Finland for hundreds of years when Finland was a part of Swedish kingdom. As a castle it's not that spectacular compared to castles in other parts of Europe, but for understanding Finnish medieval and renessaince history, it's an important place to visit. It has burned down several times, last time during WWII, so pretty much all wooden parts are relatively new compared to the age of the castle.
Samuli S — Google review
An old castle with a museum inside. I visited on early hours before the museum actually opened, so didn't got a chance inside. Around the museum is nice green relaxing park with lot of benches and place for cycle parking. Peaceful place must visit
Churchill J — Google review
Worth a visit! Every corner of Turku Castle tells another story about its history. I visited on Turku Day (third Sunday of September), and in the courtyard there was medieval music playing, I’m not sure if that happens regularly, but it definitely made my visit feel like time travel. My husband and I explored the castle for about 2 hours and 30 minutes, which I think is enough time to see everything at a relaxed pace.

Nestled in the heart of South Ostrobothnia, Huvivaltio PowerPark is a sprawling amusement park that promises fun for visitors of all ages. With an impressive array of rides ranging from thrilling roller coasters to family-friendly attractions, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The park also features go-karts and mini-golf, making it a perfect destination for those seeking adventure and entertainment.
Absolutely brilliant place to go with the kids. A bit unlucky that it was +29 when we were there. But no queues and so many different rides and things to do for all ages.

✅️Total experience was great ✅️The park and the city are both very beautiful ✅️The pizza buffet was good ❌️The only thing that I didn't like was the indoor Karting. The boost buttons for all of us were deactivated without telling us. I was pushing the boost button all the time, hoping it would work.

Really nice rides, no long waits. And it was one of the nicest days of summer. it is really good that they allow you to bring your own food and everything is fairly well situated. We didn't have time for the carting and movies though, so perhaps a 2 day visit is preferable for the full experience.
Laura R — Google review
Really cool rides, a challenge even for dare devils. It’s good to know that kids may have the height but not the age for some of the rides and they have to be accompanied by an adult (over 15 years). If you don’t wanna go yourself you can ask a service host in the park if they can arrange for someone in the personell to go with your child. Great service (and a cool job to have 😆). Surprisingly few of the staff speak any other language but Finnish. I really like the variety of food choices in the park. You can eat a healthy sallad or a buffet of pizza and tacos and of course all other choices we associate with amusement parks. On the downside the park closes early and some of the staff have a really low service level. I also think it’s worrying how they don’t speak any English. How is that even possible? They don’t listen to the customer to hear what language they speak. They just assume everyone speaks Finnish. But even though: Highly recommended!

Introduction PowerPark is a large amusement park that offers attractions for both children and adults. Visitors are drawn to its wide variety of rides and activities, with something suitable for every age group. Attractions There are many rides designed for younger children, and one of the highlights is the wooden roller coaster. The park also features several water rides, perfect for warmer days. In addition to rides, there are plenty of carnival-style games where you can win prizes – but be prepared to spend quite a bit of money before you succeed. Prices and facilities Admission is surprisingly affordable: €8 for an adult ticket, which is very cheap compared to most amusement parks in Europe. Inside the park you’ll find several restaurants, snack stands, and a shop with toys and souvenirs. Additional activities Beyond the amusement rides, the park also includes a large karting track, a cinema, and a campsite for those who want to stay longer. This makes PowerPark more than just a typical amusement park. Practical information An interesting bonus is free entry during the last hour before closing. However, most rides and restaurants are already closed at that time. Still, it can be worthwhile for a quick walk around the park or to get a brief impression of what’s on offer. Conclusion PowerPark combines affordable pricing, entertaining attractions, and extra activities, making it one of the more accessible and versatile parks in Europe. It is suitable for families, couples, and anyone looking for a fun day out in a relaxed setting.

I was there in a sunny day, and it was stunning! The rides, the food and I didn't need to wait long, like 5-10 minutes. My favourite ride was Junker. Recommend to go there at summer!

The area was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day. There was a wide variety of rollercoasters, many of which were exciting and well-designed.

Luostarinmäki Open-Air Museum is a unique attraction in Turku, Finland, as it is the only part of the city that survived the destructive fire of 1827. The museum consists of original 18th- and early 19th-century buildings and workshops where visitors can explore Finnish arts and crafts.
If you want to get sneak peak of what life used to be for the average worker and family this is the place. Wonderful that it has been preserved for us to experience. Many authentic professions nicely presented, friendly staff ready help and explain if you have questions, tranquil surroundings, area for kids to play, museum shop, cafe, ... It is easy to spend hours here if you are interested in history!
Wiley C — Google review
Really interesting museum however we visited over Easter and lot of the buildings were closed. However they didn’t tell us until after we paid for our ticket. And the tickets were full price which we felt was a bit unfair. Would be nicer to have seen more museum staff in the buildings to explain or guide.

Nice outdoor museum that displays an old part of Turku as it was ~200 years ago. Buildings are still original, inside them there are many different types of tools and machinery for traditional craftsmanship. Some are even in use today and operated by the museum staff. This place is really worth a visit.
Maximilian S — Google review
In this museum, you not only learn a great deal about Finnish culture and history, but you can also try everything yourself and buy interesting handicrafts. We were very lucky to have a private tour; our guide, a wonderful history student, told us fascinating stories about this district and Turku.

Fascinating open air museum. The only surviving original wooden houses in the old town area of Turku. Each house has information about the former inhabitants and their occupations.
Dave R — Google review
A lovely and immersive open-air museum experience. Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum is easy to find and easy to navigate once you're there. The layout feels open and inviting, and the combination of well-preserved houses and thoughtfully written information really helps you imagine what life might have been like in different historical periods. We visited in summer, but I imagine it's just as atmospheric during other seasons – the surroundings and interiors give you a good sense of life across the year. There are toilets, lockers, a shop and a café, and we also appreciated being able to buy both hot and cold drinks as well as pastries in the outdoor area. Museum guides were placed strategically around the site, and added depth and warmth to the experience with their knowledge and friendly presence. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience a living slice of Finnish history in the heart of Turku. Also, the ticket is valid all day, so you can visit the museum several times during the day.

It a nice place to visit to experience the heritage culture at first hand.

I really enjoyed my visit to Luostarinmäki. The buildings are full of olden times charm, and the stories of the people who lived there were fascinating. Especially the story of little Erik was heartwrenching. I also loved the "brochures" printed on plywood. Genious and surely more environmentally savvy than plastic or paper! I loved seeing the old craftsmanship workshops – it’s like walking into the past, but with the added benefit of modern shoes. The staff were friendly and polite, and I appreciated the period-dressed actors. It would be amazing if there were more of them, like one for each house, but let’s be real – that might bump up the ticket price. The village sounds were somewhat creepy. You could hear the sounds of village life in perfectly empty houses, like you were amidst ghosts. One quick heads-up: if you’re taller than 170 cm (or about 5’7), mind your head! The doorways and beams are low, which is part of the historic authenticity. Just don’t let history knock you out! We managed to find free parking quite near, just a block away. Paid parking closer. The restrooms were nice and clean.

Turku Cathedral, located in Turku, Finland, is a significant Lutheran church that has been restored following a fire in 1827. The cathedral features impressive frescoes, royal tombs, and a religious museum. Together with attractions like Turku Castle and the Old Great Square, the city offers diverse tourist experiences ranging from historical immersion at museums to vibrant cultural events.
Most old cathedral in Turku, maybe in the whole Finland. The inner structure is truly beautiful. You kinda feel calm and at peace upon entering. There are programs on special days. Also, many gathering and programs happens in the surrounding areas. A must-visit place if you come to Turku.

A must see! Super fascinating church. Just looking at the outside and seeing how piecemeal it is, your mind races with curiosity at how it ended up being built like that and how it has been able to withstand hundreds of years! The free museum inside was far more than I expected. The relics they have in their collection go back to the middle ages.

A 13th-century Catholic church on the banks of the Aura River. Its historical texture has been preserved. Inside, the church is constantly ringing.

One of the oldest church in Finland, 700 years old. Historical architecture and serene and peaceful place around the church premises. Visitors are not allowed to walk inside church when any event or concert is going on. A very good place to visit in Turku
Churchill J — Google review
We visited this beautiful old church, which has been part of the community for many years and serves as a peaceful place of worship for locals and visitors alike. Although it was closed when we arrived, the kind caretaker allowed us to enter. The church’s quiet atmosphere, simple yet graceful architecture, and sense of history made it truly special. We took a moment to pray — it was the first church where my boyfriend and I prayed together.

Part shopping centre, part social commentary. Tuurin kyläkauppa is a strange blend of consumer spectacle and faux luxury, like someone tried to bring Vegas to rural Finland. There's a feeling of faded grandeur, with gold-coloured finishes and a sense of trying very hard to impress. It’s a glimpse into what "lotto-win luxury" might look like to everyday folks. Worth a visit just to experience this surreal slice of Finnish/American kitsch. Great service.

This place was stunning. I was there at this summer, and it was good. The Tivoli, shop, Moomin park and food. I also got free fries, comics and ice cream. When I was at the store, I was stunned. I'm more old metal/rock and movies, and god there was much of them! I bought a Metallica merch there and it fitted very nice too me. I liked when there was a Lightning McQueen, and the Lego bulding of Tuuri. The paintings was so stunning too. I liked that unicorn thingie. This place bringed me back as a little child. Recommend to go there!

Disappointed. Just a big building filled with stuff you can find all over Finland. Not worth the hassle of parking and dealing with a thousand people in one place. Lots of things to do that attract young families, which is great. I can only imagine what it would be like on a rainy Saturday around lunchtime. 😅

Located in the Pyynikki district of Tampere, the Pyynikki Coffee Shop & Observation Tower is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. The small cafe, nestled in the old observation tower, is renowned for its freshly baked and delicious doughnuts that are a hit on social media. Visitors can also enjoy locally roasted coffee from Tampereen Paahtimo while taking in the stunning panoramic views from the 26-meter lookout tower atop Pyynikki hill.
Famous for their donuts / munkki, always fresh and very tasty. Good traditional Finnish coffee, and tea. The space is simple but cozy. Great spot in Tampere, worth going for a walk in the woods and checking the views up on the tower.
Eduardo P — Google review
Great local cafe! We really enjoyed the Mukkis (kinda like a donut but a different batter and taste). The Kinkkupiirakka (ham pie) was absolutely amazing. I suggest the local soda made by the cafe. They have a strawberry and spruce flavor. Both are good. They have tea, coffee and juice as well. After we ventured up to the top of the tower to take in the beautiful view of the city. You can take the stairs or ride the elevator. There are a few stairs then at the end to get to the top. We had a beautiful day with breathtaking skies. Definitely recommend. After there are trails to walk that can take you in any direction in town. All tree covered, at least in the summer.
Kristy V — Google review
The donut texture is great, nice and chewy. The flavor is good but has cardamom, which may turn some people off. I also liked the cheesecake a lot. It didn’t have a very strong cheese flavor and tasted slightly of vanilla. When I went there was a long line. They have another location at Tampere Market Hall, which is also closer to everything else in the city. I didn’t verify that the food was the same though
Matt L — Google review
I haven't been here since we lived in Tampere in 1997. This place was on my bucket list upon returning for a vacation in July of 2025. It's the first place I ever tried a Finnish munkki. It did not disappoint! Beautiful scenery, fabulous views of Tampere and the lakes, plus delicious munkki with coffee ☕️. I'm so glad this lived up to my memories. ($2 to ride the elevator to see the views.)
Wendy R — Google review
They have vegan donut (only large size, 3 euros) and it was very tasty! A bit too much sugar for my taste but I could just shake some off and everyone else said it wasn’t too much. Coffee also was surprisingly good for coming from a filter coffee machine. Probably because there’s a lot of people buying and the coffee is made frequently. The line can be long since it’s a small and busy shop.
S L — Google review
It takes some effort to find the Pyynikki tower when you come by public transport, but it's totally worth a visit! The donuts are freshly made and just delicious (if you like cardamom!). Tickets to the observation tower cost only 2 euros for adults, so that's a bargain! From downstairs the tower looked disappointingly low to me, but since the tower is on the top of a hill, the view is great anyway! If you don't feel like walking up the stairs, there's an elevator as well. Tip: you can go even 1 floor higher to the roof.
Vinodh L — Google review
I'm Polish, so I know what a good doughnut is like, and these are excellent doughnuts ;) We came on a rainy Sunday afternoon, so it was not too busy and we could enjoy the food from a cozy window overlooking the forest. It is possible to park for free at the top along the road leading to the tower, there is a free toilet, and the café can be accessed without paying the fee for the tower.
Natalia M — Google review
Probably the best doughnuts I have ever had. Make sure you try the spruce lemonade soda. It's made in house and it's fantastic.

Nestled within the vibrant Särkänniemi Adventure Park, the Särkänniemi Aquarium offers a delightful experience for families and marine enthusiasts alike. While it may not be the largest aquarium around, its charm lies in its intimate setting where visitors can explore various exhibits at their own pace. The aquarium showcases an array of fascinating fish species, along with some intriguing reptiles like snakes and turtles. It's a perfect spot to engage children with nature while learning about aquatic life.
Free entry during Tampere Day Oct 1. Can see few species of fishes, a couple of snakes water gators and turtles.

It’s such a small place, it takes you about 10-15 minutes to visit everything here. And you don’t get to see something that special. Is ok for enjoying with the kids but, that is about it! A little bit disappointed.
Rusu C — Google review
The aquarium is fine, not very big so it can be seen in around 1 hour. There are stairs and no elevator so a pram was not possible to be used for our child. Downside is all information about the animals is written in Finnish, except for a few facts here and there. Be wary, there’s parking in the amusement park premises, but it costs 18€ independently of the length of your stay, which is crazy expensive!
Francesc — Google review
It's a really nice aquarium with a lot of animals. They have the "stars", animals that have been there for a long time and have a good story behind them, super interesting to know. The only problem is that it's not too big but it's amazing and they have a lot of different species!!
Daniel G — Google review
The aquarium consist of two floors with about 30 exhibits. Some of which are terrariums and paludariums. Sadly many of the tanks are quite cramped with fish. They have a sturgeon that is barely able to swim in circles. Other tanks are in dire need of a proper cleaning. Okayish for young children to look at the animals. The price was €10 and you're done in around 1 hour.

Tampere Cathedral

Sights & Landmarks
Tampere Cathedral, also known as the church of St. John, is a striking example of National Romantic art-nouveau architecture. Completed in 1907, this imposing granite-built church features three steeples and red-tiled roofs that contrast with its subtle stone facade, exuding understated elegance. Inside, visitors can admire controversial frescoes and stained glass created by Hugo Simberg, depicting naked childlike apostles and dreamlike scenes.
The colours of the glass with the open plan architecture makes this a welcoming and deep place of reflection. Highly recommend you come here..
Steven W — Google review
Truly one of the most amazing churches I have seen both outside and inside. From the outside it looks like a medieval castle, and from the inside it is a true work of art. It houses one of the most famous paintings in Finland, the Fallen Angel, as well as another striking one with a skull. The interior has many unusual elements that make you curious to learn more about its history and culture. We entered just after a wedding, and within five minutes we could go in without any problem. Everything was spotless. You can also walk up from one of the sides and admire the church from that angle, and it is completely free. We were lucky to hear someone playing the piano during our visit, which made the atmosphere even more special. A must-see in Tampere, and perhaps even in all of Finland.

Ähtäri Zoo

Classic zoo with animals on display including giant pandas, brown bears, snow leopards & more.
Had an absolutely lovely walk through the zoo in a forest and it was wonderful to learn more about the various species of plants and animals native to Finland while enjoying animals from all over the world. Many highlights but I definitely enjoyed the extremely photogenic wolverine that ran out and hammed it up for people!
Jen L — Google review
Really nice natural looking zoo, with its own train station for those without a car. Nice animals with suitable enclosures and all the animals seem very well taken care of and enriched. It was also nice to interact closely with the farm animals. Camping area is great too with nice restaurants nearby, good facilities, and its own convenient entrance to the zoo on the west side.

We've visited Ähtäri three years in a row now and loved everything! Definitely plan on continuing visiting every year. This time we went out of season and got in as soon as the zoo opened which I definitely recommend. Got to see almost every animal, even the ones who have been hiding from us the previous years. Staff is lovely as well ❤️
Melli — Google review
Beautiful natural zoo. Like walking in a national park or trails with the great addition of animals to see. Had a cute farm area and blacksmith at the start and then a beautiful walk to see all the wild animals. It was a hot summer day so some animals were not out or could not be seen but the trails and lakes were still amazing to walk. We saw reindeer, buffalo, owls, pheasant, deer, geese, and red pandas to name a few. It wasn't too crowded and was pretty quiet. There was a cafe and ice cream half way around, that had great fries and meatballs. The ice cream stand was Ingman and had soft serve or scoop in a cup or cone. Lots of flavors to pick from but we enjoyed the raspberry white chocolate, Nougat crunch and vanilla/ chocolate swirl soft serve.
Kristy V — Google review
A lovely wildlife park, very naturally designed. Since our visit was in the middle of the day, after the animals had already finished their breakfast, the leopard, wolverine, and lynx were hiding and resting. It’s better to visit in the morning when the animals are more active.
Kristi P — Google review
Excellent with smaller and bigger kids. Wide paths and small carts provided were a nice touch as we walked over 6km. A lot of small areas with grills and fire places to prepare/eat your own food. Also small cafes along the forrest route.
Lasse O — Google review
We went to the park off season at 3pm and closing time was 5pm, staff informed us that the indoor shops will close at 5pm other than that we can walk at own pace, good service. Note: takes a minimum 3 hours to walk the entire zoo 3km path length and look at all animals and take a few pics. Recommended to bring water and salt snacks along with you, which can also be bought at recept/ zoo shop. Note It is possible to walk a shorter path as well which takes less time. The intersection between the two loops short path and long path could be better marked so that you dont walk the long path a second time by accident. Maybe additional markings pointing to reception/parking area could be made so that the exit path is clear when walking the long path and you want to ensure you exit the park.
Isac K — Google review
Amazing experience!!! We went in winter season and we couldn't see bears, I think some animals were hibernating... only the Panda was the exception because they are in some big rooms inside and we could see them, it was a really nice experience to know the zoo. I recommend this visit in summer , although in winter the snow is exceptional and everything looks beautiful too....

The park features thrilling rides like Villi Virta and provides amenities such as lockers and dining options. Visitors can bring their own food and enjoy the day at the park from opening to closing time. With indoor and outdoor attractions, it's an enjoyable destination for both kids and adults alike.
An fantastic waterpark for the complete family. Outside slides have been upgraded and renewed in 2024. You have a lot of slides inside and outside for all ages..baby areas, toddlers and adults. At the wintertime only inside slide open. You can also organised birthday parties there. Only thing I don't like is the restaurant. We always bring our own food. Cool box full of fruites, sandwiches and drinks brings an special family experience on low cost.

Nice place to spend time lot for kid to do. Get little overcrowded inside when they close outside due thunderstorm for a while. Get very load noice instead when all people was inside same time. Food at place very slow, ketchup was empty many say about it took over 10 min for them to refill it. Que to buy food and they close second place to order food instead to have both open. Buffé not to recommend and burgers was soso. Work to buy todays ticket when buy ticket instead to upgrade afterward.

Great overall experience. Perhaps they could do something to ease the queuing for food in hot weather. They could have some water fountains as well, that would help as I heard a mother telling her kid not to drink from the pool as she saw a floating piece of poop. I want to believe it was just her way to warn her kid from the dirty water. 🥲
Adri E — Google review
Parking 5e per day. You can park and pay at the machine near the entrance. During 12pm, there was separate queue available for advanced booking. They allows outside food and there are dining spaces. Better to go with swimming suits or shorts as all others will be wearing those. Locker facility available in the dressing room, take 2euro coins to access them. Hair dryers are available in the dressing room. Many rides are indoor. First aid medicines are kept there.
S J — Google review
Serena is the best water park in Finland and open all year, although the outdoor attractions are closed during the winter season. About half of the water slides are indoors, and the indoor area is warm all year. The park offers waterslides for the whole family, and the biggest ones serve also the slightly daring ones. A mediocre restaurant offers burgers, a buffet lunch and some smaller snacks and during summer time there is also an ice cream kiosk. Serena is a great day trip distance on a beautiful summer day.
