The priest told us the temple caught fire recently but the renovation and beautification of the premises is going on. The near by view during January is breathtaking, you can enjoy sledging, skiing, can also play in dense snow and click pictures in the white background. There are plenty of shops for food, hotels for stay and public washrooms nearby.

On visiting Yousmarg, you can enjoy the meadows surrounded by snowclad mountains on one side. Here many activities can be done. One being the Horse Ride to Nilnag Lake. The path to Nilnag Lake is quite muddy in some places passing through the pine forests

It is said to be the Niagara falls of Kashmir and boy it didn’t disappoint. We took a little detour from pahalgam and visited the falls on our way to Srinagar. Such a beautiful waterfall, it started raining and quickly rain turned into hail.. there were no people around maybe bcz it was weekday. The road that goes up to the falls is narrow and beautiful filled with lush pine trees and river flowing down. All in all it was just magical and a must add to your Kashmir itinerary.

One of the most peaceful and serene spots to visit near Srinagar, in Kashmir. Very beautiful place, and much more peaceful compared to Dal Lake. The weather was especially lovely on the day we visited. We went for a Shikara ride in the lake, and it was really calming and quiet. This is a place which is more frequented by locals. It is apparently much more in demand and sought after in the summer season. Must visit!

It is appreciated for the same reasons that Dal Lake was admired decades ago—calm, quiet, and serene. There aren’t many hawkers to disturb the peace you seek. The scenery is beautiful, and you also need to bargain less compared to Dal Lake. Just look at the images to see for yourself!

Additionally, the ticket prices are very reasonable, making it an accessible destination for all. Overall, Pari Mahal is a great place to visit, offering a mix of history, natural beauty, and convenience.

Tulip Garden opens up from late March and extends upto late April until the Tulips wave in blooms. With an entry fee of Rs 75/person, this heavenly garden, is a soothing treat to the eyes. It will take about 2-3 hrs for a full tour of the garden. There are fountains and blossoms everywhere, reverberating a happy vibe over the valley. There is a market outside the garden, which I found very pocket friendly and I took all the gift items from there itself. There is a botanical garden nearby this place.

We had a very enjoyable experience at the garden, from what we could see they were generally well maintained. Although it was cloudy on the day so the views were not as good as they would normally be,it still looked beautiful in the misty weather. It being a Monday there were only a few visitors so it felt peaceful and serene.

The Gangabal Lake also called Haramukh ganga, is a lake situated at the foothills of Mount Haramukh (the second highest mountain peak in the vicinity of Kashmir valley) in Ganderbal district, north of Srinagar, in Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is an alpine high altitude oligotrophic lake,home to many species of fish, including the brown trout. This lake is considered sacred in Hinduism, and as one of the home of Lord Shiva. Kashmiri Hindus perform annual pilgrimage called Harmukh-Gangabal Yatra.The lake has a maximum length of two and a half kilometers and maximum width of one kilometre. It is fed by precipitation, glaciers and springs. The lake water outflows to a nearby Nundkol Lake and then via Wangath Nallah to Sind River. Gangabal has been mentioned in Hindu texts like Nilamata Purana as well as Rajatarangini. Authors like Walter Roper Lawrence and Francis Younghusband also mentioned Gangabal lake and it's association with Hindu rites. Kashmiri Hindus were massacred in the year 1518 by Islamic invader Mir Shams-ud-Din Araqi on the day of Ashura. In 1519 around 10,000 Kashmiri Hindus were killed during their pilgrimage to Gangabal as they had gone to immerse the ashes of Kashmiri Hindus who were killed by Mir Shams-ud-Din Araqi on the day of Ashura. After the gap of 200 years, APMCC/HGGT took the initiative and restarted Harmukh-Gangabal Yatra in 2009.

Alternatively, union cabs are available to take you to various scenic points. During our visit, we opted for the pony ride to the glacier, and it was an unforgettable experience. The sight of the pristine snow and the thrill of being surrounded by such natural beauty made it truly magical. For those seeking more fun, there are sledges available, where locals will drag you up the snowy slopes for an exhilarating ride down. Additionally, skiing and other snow activities are offered, ensuring there's something for everyone. We spent a delightful half-day here, from the afternoon until late evening, enjoying the activities and the serene ambiance. Sonmarg also has plenty of food stalls where you can savor local delicacies, including the famous Kashmiri Qahwa, a warm and aromatic tea that's perfect for the chilly weather. However, it's important to note that if you're planning to buy dry fruits or saffron, it's best to purchase them from Pampore, Pahelgam known for its authenticity and quality. A practical tip: Make sure to rent snow boots, as regular shoes won't suffice in the cold and snowy conditions. This destination is perfect for families, offering a mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural experiences. Our family had an amazing time here, and it's a place we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Kashmir.

Visiting the sacred Amarnath Cave in 2024 was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. Nestled high in the Himalayas, this spiritual journey is not just a trek – it’s a test of devotion, endurance, and faith. The moment I laid eyes on the naturally formed Shivling made of ice, I was filled with awe and a deep sense of peace. The energy inside the cave is beyond words – it’s something you feel in your soul. Despite the challenging weather and high altitude, every step felt worth it. The stunning beauty of the snow-capped mountains, the chants of "Bam Bam Bhole," and the camaraderie among fellow yatris made it even more special. The entire Yatra was well-organized, with help and medical facilities available at regular intervals. I am grateful to the Indian Army, local volunteers, and the shrine board for their incredible efforts in making this pilgrimage smooth and safe.
