The White Cliffs of Dover, rising 350 feet above the sea along 8 miles of coastline, offer a dramatic and breathtaking vista. The area is home to several incredible locations such as Leeds Castle, Hever Castle, Canterbury Cathedral, and The Historic Dockyards Chatham. Visitors can also explore vineyards for English wine tasting or visit Britain's oldest brewer for a taste of traditional British beer.
I recently visited the White Cliffs of Dover, and it was an experience I’ll never forget. Despite the cold weather, the cliffs were absolutely magnificent. The chilly wind only added to the rugged beauty of the landscape, and I was grateful that it wasn’t crowded at all—this allowed me to truly appreciate the peacefulness of the place. The cliffs themselves were breathtaking, with their sheer white faces standing proudly above the sea. I took my time walking along the cliff-top paths, soaking in the panoramic views and the fresh sea air. The sense of solitude and openness made it feel like I was stepping back in time. What struck me the most was the historic significance of these cliffs. They’ve been a symbol of Britain’s strength and resilience for centuries, and you can feel that sense of history as you walk along the paths. Standing there, looking out over the English Channel, I couldn’t help but think about how these cliffs have watched over so many generations. Overall, I’d highly recommend a visit to the White Cliffs of Dover, especially if you’re interested in history and natural beauty. Just be sure to dress warmly!

I visited the White Cliffs of Dover for about an hour and hiked all the way to the lighthouse — it’s a wonderful place for walking and even having a picnic, with amazing views along the way, though the smell from the ships and boats near the pier was a bit unpleasant.
Wasin S — Google review
The White Cliffs of Dover are absolutely breathtaking! The views are stunning, and walking along the cliffs is both peaceful and invigorating. The trails are well-maintained, and there are plenty of spots to stop and take photos. A perfect place for nature lovers, history enthusiasts. Highly recommend going early for the best views and to avoid crowds.

Lovely 30-40 min walk to get to the lighthouse. Cute cafeteria as well for a nice lunch. Lovely tourist attraction. Great if you have a national trust membership. Highly recommend.
Alison V — Google review
The White Cliffs left me with an unforgettable impression. 🌅 The sunset painted the sky and cliffs in golden hues, and the sunlight seemed to bring their whiteness to life — it was pure magic. I listened to the melodic songs of birds and was delighted to spot a family of wild hares hiding among the grass. The autumn scenery around was breathtaking, and I can only imagine how even more vibrant and warm it must be in summer. My walk was filled with joy and tranquility, and I will definitely return. This place is truly iconic in England — it’s something everyone should see with their own eyes. The roads are excellent, the area is well-kept, and the cozy café with delicious cream tea and attentive staff makes the visit even more enjoyable. The White Cliffs are not just a natural landmark; they are a feeling of harmony, beauty, and a true blessing. 🏔️💖💖💖

Great coastal path from the National Trust white cliffs car park, free for members,(otherwise there's an expensive charge) you don't see a lot of the white cliffs walking this way, unless you walk down to the beaches, and they don't look as white, I think the views from a far look a lot better, but it's still a lovely walk, and you get 3 National Trust sites on your walk, Fan bay deep shelter, wanstone Gun battery and the lighthouse, so a great day 😊.

Its amazing Dover cliffs i got a few pictures the picture was taken the second time when I went Dover but the second time when I went Dover I didn't walk in the clifs I was on a ferry but the cliffs are cool its perfect for pictures
Taqwaa A — Google review
A must-see! We took the train from London, walked to the waterfront through the town — lovely architecture and friendly residents, but surprisingly, a somewhat depressed area. We made our way to the top of the cliffs via the foot path, but you may drive or take a taxi to the top, which has a visitor center and cafe. The late-afternoon August sunlight beautifully highlighted the cliffs and hills. On a clear day, you can see the cliffs of France. One visit is not enough!

Dover Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Dover Castle, located on England's eastern flank, has a rich history dating back to the Iron Age. The castle boasts medieval underground works and war-time tunnels that offer captivating views and tours. Originally fortified in the 1st century, it was later modified for artillery warfare by Henry VIII. The Napoleonic Wars saw the addition of a network of tunnels with gun positions and casemates dug into the cliff.
We visited on a Sunday. The castle grounds are huge. There are 3 different sets of tunnels you can explore, two of them with a guide and the medieval tunnels to explore on your own. We spent the whole day there. Very interesting. Lots to see and explore. Good cafe for lunch. Highly recommend.
Jilly P — Google review
Absolutely a fantastic place to visit oozing with history. The site is large so allow plenty of time. It's also hilly and within the castle there is a lot of stairs. The tunnels under the castle were fascinating especially if you have an interest in WWII. Though they date back to the late 1700s. Tours are run at regular intervals and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. All staff were helpful and nice. We were able to park on site but I imagine school holidays could cause an issue sometimes. There's is a carpack for disabled drivers much closer and on a flatter level near the castle itself. Plenty of toilets dotted around the grounds and a cafe and ice cream van as well as one serving hot drinks and snacks. Small p.ay area with climbing equipment for children. Great views over Dover and the port. Also visit the Saxon Church that is within the grounds.
Diane C — Google review
Was a wonderful visit, went there with a friend of mine and we explored everything the castle had to offer. Under the castle there are some interesting tunnels with a lot of interesting stories. You will learn a bit about the war and the importance of the castle in the past. It's worth the money.

You could easily spend a whole day here visiting the various sections of the large site. Of special interest to us were the Secret War Tunnels. It is a 30-minute tour with an informed and entertaining guide. (Unfortunately no photos allowed.) There is no extra fee for the tour. It is included with your entrance fee. There is also a tour of the hospital tunnels which we didn’t have time to take but would have been interested to see. We also enjoyed seeing the castle which is furnished in replicas from the period which we didn’t expect. Again, the attendants were friendly and informed. On a nice day there are lovely picnic area to enjoy.
Sheryl S — Google review
Travelled from Folkestone to visit the Castle on my way home to London and could have kicked myself as id left my bank card at the hotel so didn't manage to get inside the castle which was a disappointment. The grounds are stunning and the views over the harbour are exceptional.
Sarah E — Google review
There is so much to see here - definitely plan enough time! I would recommend buying tickets online, if you can. If not, you can drive up and park, then walk inside and purchase tickets in the gift shop in the main castle area at the top of the hill. The grounds are really well maintained and the staff is so friendly and helpful! The various tours close early, so be sure to hit them first, then tour the rest at your leisure. We started at the top, toured the tunnels, then went and did the two tours at the bottom before making the trek back up. (I would recommend this route) There is a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes! The views are incredible and there is so much to see. The only thing we weren’t a big fan of was the gaudy colors of the decorations in the main castle - they reminded us of a children’s play set - but that’s just our opinion. It definitely didn’t dampen the experience! There are ample restroom facilities located all around the property. It seemed like the kind of place that might be difficult to maneuver in a manual wheelchair, but we don’t use a wheelchair so there might be accommodations we didn’t see. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
Shaela C — Google review
Brilliant place to visit. Be prepared to spend all day. Lots to see and do.Great tower, keep, old church and ancient lighthouse, ramparts, secret defence tunnels, wartime tunnels, various exhibitions, battlements, glorious views across Dover and the Channel. Definitely a English Heritage jewel.
Valerie H — Google review
Absolutely worth the visit. We were scheduled to board the ferry and had a few hours to ourselves. We visited the castle and were absolutely amazed at how much there is to see. The local guides were friendly and very informative - their knowledge, not only of the castle but general English history, is very impressive. This castle is well worth the visit.

Had to get another ferry home due to illness at very short notice, but P&O customer service were so good when I called them to see if anything could be done. They have kindly agreed to crediting my account with something to go towards our next crossing in October which is really great customer service. We never travel with any other operator always had a good experience with P&O!
Paul M — Google review
Most of the time I catch the Euro tunnel as it's quicker. This time it was easier to catch the ferry. Taking a motorcycle was easy. Check in 60 mins before departure. Small holding area with overpriced burger king and WHS / facilities. Wait in line for boarding. When boarding on a bike ride on board and staff will direct you to the bike area. Ratchet strap your bike down and then make your way upstairs. Reverse process when returning. Tips for the ferry. When it's busy it can be noisy. Take the upper deck into the quite zone ( and be quiet) comfy chairs and peaceful areas. Access to your car or bike is restricted during the crossing. Gates and doors open approximately 10 mins before your dock. Overall it's an easy experience and if you want to relax for an hour then it's nice enough. Be prepared for certain areas to be busy and as always there are a few people who drink too much and make too much noise. Prices are expensive on board so bring your own food and drink. A good experience with P&O
Mark C — Google review
Tried P&O morning sailing to Calias. Breakfast was ordered from an App and served in a cardboard box with plastic knives and forks by a polite person with a limited understanding of English. it was nothing special and left us both feeling hungry. We shall not be repeating this experience in the future. The alternatives are much better.
David W — Google review
horrible experience. we missed our ferry because the traffic was diverted and although P&O was aware of the diversion, nothing was done to accommodate the ferry passengers. we arrived 1h and 15 minutes before the departure time by the way. on top of this, their ferry boarding system in ridiculously long and inefficient. save your money and buy a plane ticket.
Adelina I — Google review
This was my fifth time traveling with P&O. Normally, I travel with Eurotunnel for the speed of the journey (I’m Italian and I drive to Italy with my van at least once a year). The difference is very simple: if you’re not in a hurry, traveling with P&O is relaxing. If the weather is good, it’s wonderful to stay outside and enjoy the beauty of the sea a little trip within the trip. I always buy the Fully Flexi ticket, simply because it makes me feel more at ease. It’s fully refundable, and you can change your booking to any date and time you want to travel. I don’t have to worry about delays caused by traffic. I also paid for two people to access the Club Lounge, which gives you entry to the most exclusive area. It was absolutely peaceful, not crowded at all, with plenty of sofas and armchairs where you can enjoy the journey in total relaxation. There’s also a buffet (I must say this time it was a bit limited, but still good quality). Coffee, cappuccino, etc. are all included in the price. Free WiFi. Lifts and toilets for disabled passengers. The sea was completely calm and the trip was perfect. If you’re not in a hurry, it’s an excellent option. The price I paid for two people: Fully Flexi Ticket (VW Transporter Van), Dover–Calais, Club Lounge.
Price: £285 Absolutely recommended.

Always use them 2x a month for travel between Calais and Dover great ferry great people great service. Always helpful and clean ships Special shoutout to one of the crew in p&o liberte young guy called “bartek” absolute legend super polite and helped me in a tricky situation where I forgot something important in my vehicle in the vehicle deck definitely recommend

Dover to Calais Ferry looks good at first glance, but oh what a disappointment the food options are! Unless you like eating flacid, dried out vending machine hot food from a cardboard box. Exhorbitant prices too! Or, for an actual plate, you can pay £30 for a Club Lounge upgrade. Dreadful and hopefully, our last P&O.
Alida A — Google review
The service on board in January was appalling! There was not many people, but the evening staff on that night were having a discussion while serving the customers. They could not be bothered from the reception to the bar, sadly I realised that there was a lack of commitments to P&O!

Ramsgate Tunnels

Heritage building
Ramsgate Tunnels, a historic underground network, served as a shelter for 60,000 people during WWII air raids. This subterranean city was crucial in protecting the locals from devastation during the war. The tunnels housed over 1,000 people and even hosted Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill during his visit to Ramsgate. Today, visitors can explore this underground marvel on guided tours and witness captivating graffiti left by urban explorers.
Great place to visit on a hot day. Nice and cool. Had a great tour by Colin. The humor and knowledge from him was spot on. Food and drink in the cafe was also great as well. Well worth the visit

Me and a friend turned up a little late for the last tour of the day, however thankfully we were let in anyway. Both tour guides Luke and Martin were very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour to anyone in the area, tour ticket prices are about £9 per adult and well worth it !
Dan T — Google review
We did the tour of Ramsgate Tunnels. Our tour guide was Gill. The tour was brilliant. It was done at a nice pace, very informative and with humour. You really get a flavour of what life was like during war time. The history of the tunnels was fascinating . The staff are all volunteers. I highly recommend this tour. Thanks Gill, you are a star!
Julie B — Google review
Ramsgate Tunnels is a significant attraction with a rich historical background mainly due to its contribution during World War II. The tour lead, who was a very knowledgeable guide, was absolutely brilliant where we were told about the vast history behind the plan and its execution and the role it played to protect thousands of families during the war. The temperature inside the tunnel remains at steady 11C throughout. The tour takes roughly 1 hour 30 mind and advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointments. We visited on 7th September where the British railways had numerous displays of 200 year history of the railways which we were so keen and excited to have a look. This is worth to visit and know about its history, significance as well as enjoy the genuine beauty of the well preserved site.
Khandker Q — Google review
My sister and I paid a visit to the secluded war time tunnels in Ramsgate, we booked our places on the tour about an hour before. Then went for a walk. We paid £9 per adult which I think was a reasonable amount. The tour starts with a short video. Clive our main guide/volunteer was very informative with a sense of humour and the other 2 volunteers (I think were Trevor and ?Kevin?) were extremely patient & helpful, pointing out markings on the walls, lighting up areas with their torches so we could get better photographs . The tour was approx. 2 hrs. I would advise sensible footwear as in places it was a bit wet & slippery, some mats/boards were down so that your feet wouldn't get too wet. We enjoyed our tour and the museum. They also had a little cafe area at the entrance which we did not make the use of on this occasion. I would highly recommend a visit 👍🏻

Brilliant bit of history I didn't know was there!! Cheap to enter, well worth the hour and half tour. Not recommended for small kids.

A fascinating trip into Ramsgate's wartime past. Our guide, Kim, gave us insights into the experiences of the wartime residents of the town (with some mention of those from Margate too 😂). He made the visit even more interesting due to his enthusiasm and passion for the subject and the tunnels. We would highly recommend this tour.

The Shell Grotto in Margate is a fascinating and mysterious underground cave adorned with 4.6 million shells, including cockle, whelk, mussel, and oyster shells. Discovered by chance in 1835, its origins remain unknown, giving rise to various theories about its purpose - from being a Masonic Temple to a secret meeting place or even a hiding spot.
What a wonderful place. I think that this place deserves more visibility to the tourists than it has got at the moment. The place is truly the work of someone with a fine artist mind and a lot of patience and dedication. It is beautifully done. Thankfully it is now preserved well so the general public can enjoy the lovely artistic work.
Vijay J — Google review
The Shell Grotto is definitely a unique and interesting place to visit - I just wish it was a little bigger/there was a little more to see. Fascinating series of passages and small rooms beautifully decorated with shells. And how and why it was done is still a mystery. I enjoyed reading all the history and info. Recommend. Only a 10/15 min walk from the old town (and we also saw a lovely Tudor house).
Steve W — Google review
Visited the Shell Grotto and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly. And there's a nice selection of items you can buy in the shop. Definitely worth seeing. It was quite busy when we went in Sunday, but you can explore it in about 15 min. A short but very interesting experience.
Dineshika S — Google review
Interesting place to visit and cheap activity. It takes approx 10 mins to walk around you can make it longer if you really want to inspect the design. But it is very small so if you area bit wary of tight spaces be aware this may not be for you. They have some interesting facts before you head down to the grotto. The team are friendly and the gift shop is lovely if a bit small when there are lots of people. Definitely worth a visit
Gill G — Google review
Much smaller than expected but still very interesting with a little bit of history and alot of skill. I feel the entry price is far too expensive for something that took me 5 minutes to walk around, but for someone particularly interested in the artwork and fancy something different to look at, its still good. The gift shop is a must see as has plenty of gorgeous seashells and a few other pretty items for sale. No toilets or parking, if your lucky you can find free street parking nearby.
Grace P — Google review
Visiting the Shell Grotto was an unforgettable experience. The moment I stepped inside, I couldn’t believe my eyes — every surface is covered in intricate patterns made entirely from seashells. It’s both mysterious and magical, and truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This is absolutely a must-see destination for anyone. After exploring the grotto, I enjoyed browsing the charming gift shop, which offers a wonderful selection of seashells and other unique treasures to take home as souvenirs.
Ertuğrul A — Google review
Stunning place decorated with many shells. Definitely worth a visit. There is also a shop to buy all sorts of small things. Not far, 3-4 minutes walk, there's a carpark with a pound stretcher, there the parking is free for two hours.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely mesmerizing! The Shell Grotto is one of Margate's hidden gems and a truly unique experience. From the moment you descend into this mysterious underground tunnel, you're transported into something magical. The intricate shell mosaics covering every surface are breathtaking - it's incredible to think that millions of shells were carefully arranged to create these beautiful patterns and designs. The craftsmanship is extraordinary, and the fact that we still don't know who created it or exactly when adds to the mystique. The audio guide is excellent and really helps you appreciate the history and theories surrounding this fascinating place. The lighting creates a wonderful atmospheric experience that makes the shells shimmer and come alive. Perfect for families, history buffs, or anyone looking for something completely different. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the gift shop has some lovely souvenirs. Don't miss this incredible piece of Margate's heritage - it's unlike anywhere else in the world! Well worth the visit and the ticket price. Highly recommended!

Museums
Turner Contemporary is a striking international art gallery located in Kent, offering dramatic spaces to showcase the works of JMW Turner and contemporary artists. The modern building provides stunning sea views, making it an ideal venue for weddings. Visitors can enjoy rotating modern exhibitions, including pieces by renowned artists like Grayson Perry and Carlos Amorales. Situated at the site where Turner once stayed, the gallery celebrates his connection to Margate and forms part of the town's lively art scene.
It’s absolutely amazing to me as in experience. Each room of the gallery is managed and arranged nicely according to the growth of time. Each picture captured not the objects but also (in my opinion) the emotions of the people in specific, and the changes of the periods in general. Can’t believe it’s closed not long after my visit but hopefully it can be opened again soon. And please do donation if you’re happy, this place deserves it.

Dropped by Turner Contemporary during a day trip beach day to Margate and really enjoyed it. It’s free, super clean, and well looked after. I only had a quick wander before closing but it was still a really nice visit. Being right by the water is an added bonus. Worth checking out if you’re in Margate!

We spent a lovely couple of hours wandering through the galleries. All very well curated. Great for school groups. No entrance fee. Just donations requested. Small but interesting gift shop with pottery that reflects Turners key work.

I am always excited to see what's going to be on display next. The presentation is always top class with such attention to details. My daughter and I are frequent visitors.
Nicole G — Google review
It's free so always worth popping in if you're in Margate anyway. Quite surprised and a bit disappointed that there is literally just the one lonely Turner there. The other exhibits were a mixed bag really, two beautiful sculptures as you enter but the rest were bafflingly naive. Personal taste of course with any exhibition.
Tanis S — Google review
Enjoyable gallery. Airy and great light. However there is not a great deal to see. An hour and you have easily. seen everything on display. We went to see the Bridget Riley exhibition which is well layed out and displayed. Nice shop and coffee shop on site.
Mr T — Google review
Always enjoy visiting the Turner no matter what the exhibition. It’s light, airy, has a great gift shop and cafe, entertainment for kids and decent toilets. We could easily spend a day here when the kids were small but now they are older it tends to be a couple of hours.

Hi all just been to the turner exhibition only one painting by him which we found unusual in the turner center lol The shell girl was good and the paintings and pictures buy the kids and teenagers of the area where good the sunken ship couldn't get my head around the chess piece where ok and the undersea world was ok .

Dymchurch Amusement Park is a charming seaside attraction with a variety of rides and amusements suitable for the whole family. From dodgems and a ghost train to arcades and a rollercoaster, there are options for all ages to enjoy. The park opens daily at 11:00 am, offering an old-fashioned yet fun atmosphere that has been enjoyed by generations. While the rides may be more geared towards younger visitors, adults can still join in on the fun.
We visited a lovely little amusement park right next to the seaside, and it was such a pleasant surprise. While it’s on the smaller side, it’s incredibly convenient and very reasonably priced. There’s plenty to do for both children and adults, making it a perfect add-on to a seaside visit. One of the absolute highlights was the bumper cars — hands down the best bumper car experience I’ve ever had. The ride was much longer than most places, and it added so much fun to our day. It really stood out as the highlight of our visit! A quick note for visitors: the park only accepts cash, and you’ll need to exchange it for tokens to use on the rides. So make sure to come prepared. All in all, it’s a fun, budget-friendly way to spend a few hours by the sea. We’ll definitely return!
Kobz A — Google review
I love Dymchurch, its not over crowded and not overly expensive. The amusements were reasonably priced. The rides were perfect for the little ones. Its not huge, but enough to entertain for a short while. The sandy beach is located right behind it.
Lorren J — Google review
Great fun for toddlers and teens. Enjoyed walking along the long stretched beach and freshly made doughnuts!
SnapNSpill — Google review
Not all rides were available. Mostly for younger children. Ghost train was fun. The elephant ride looked fun but ever so slow! Would say 10 yrs old and younger is perfect 😊
Alison R — Google review
All of the years I have been to Dymchurch Amusements I have not been let down! My grandparents have a lovely time with me all the activities! I think it is clean! Quite over priced as one ride is 2 tokens! The staff are soooo friendly! Every time I have been it creates a new memory I will Cherish forever!
Helen W — Google review
took my son Who is severally autistic but OBSESSED with rides, most rides are 2 Discs per person and having to go on with him, 4 discs per ride and with a child who wants to go on constantly cost me £50! I think for what it is it's very pricey, the workers didnt say a single word, no greeting going onto the rides seemed very fed up. I think I counted 8 rides and the bumper cars. but the main thing is my son was happy which makes all these things alright. but you could get a day out somewhere bigger for the money youd pay he especially if you have several kids!
Aimee F — Google review
Kids loved this place. You need cash to buy tokens, the more you buy the cheaper, so 20 was £25 and you can get more, but if you ge less, it dearer.. 3 for £5. Small rides for little ones and bigger rides for older ones, mine are 7 and 10 and tall and had 5 rides each but could have done more! No queuing to get on, we went at open time.. 11am. Good fun!! Parking jsut down the road in a pay and display managed by ring goor cash.
Sarah T — Google review
It's a rather shabby, over priced collection of mediocre rides. The token stall only accepts cash. The shooting star ride is really boring, it sits at the top for too long barely dropping. The children barely let out a noise of excitement. All rides are 2 tokens (working out just less than £5 a ride) . The smaller rides are 1 token. The waltzer was fun - the children enjoyed that one. The rest left them underwhelmed (They are primary school age) The staff working the rides are miserable and don't look like they want to be there. Generally a miserable expensive place to visit.

The Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway offers a unique way to experience the beautiful landscapes of the area, with steam and diesel locomotives connecting four stations. The journey takes you through countryside and along the coast, providing a nostalgic experience for visitors. One of its notable stops is in Dungeness, known for its protected status and distinct post-apocalyptic landscape.
A great day out for the family. A super line with a variety of engines. The rover ticket works well to hop on and off along the routes. Great cafe and museum at Romney. Make sure you download and use the audio app for your guide along the route. Definitely recommend 5 Star

I’ve been coming here since I was 3 and have been Trainspotting and making online content ever since. I would 100% recommend this railway to absolutely anyone. Doesn’t matter if it’s your first time or if you’ve been there 100 times the experience is always amazing, the staff members and volunteers are always extremely kind and helpful.

Steam locomotives in excellant order and two available on limited timetable. Website confusing and timetable very difficult to read on a phone. Website only gives option of 29 pound rover ticket which gives free entry to model railway and warns cannot buy on stations. As we only wanted a short ride we opted to go from Romney marsh..which is best station to start from as has meuseum/ model railway. However whatever station we wished to go to was 22.00 pounds.,and no free entry to model railway. Timetable made it difficult to use rover ticket as left you at dungeness for 2.5hrs or hythe for 2 dependant if train was not doing 20 min turn a round. Would rec visit more in season for more flexibility. Cafe at dungeness poor...basic food options and had run out of fish and chips and pasties by 12.30. Nice line though and history very interesting. Best to go on warmish day as even covered carriages with doors cool.

Very good . We Took train to dungeness. And back again. We will go again but earlier in the day so we could have a walk around dungeness. Then catch the train back again. Very interesting model railway experience. Buttons to push to make trains work. And lights to turn on+ cable car .

Have always enjoyed this railway, have been since I was young. It has always stayed traditional, and a nice vintage element. Definitely worth going all the way to dungeness too see the desert environment, and also romney to see the model railway exhibit

Very interesting railway, staff were very friendly traveled whole length both ways. We had food at Dungeness and really enough the day out

Easily one of my favourite places in the world! The railway itself is a special piece of history. The trains are a masterclass of engineering. The staff are friendly and helpful. Just the perfect day out!

This is a great day out. We started at Dungeness end of the line and if you buy a Rover ticket you can get on and off the train at any stop to explore. Not been on here since I was a child, its still great fun.

Port Lympne Safari Park offers a unique safari experience with its safari-themed hotel, cottages, cabins, and treehouse suites. The 600-acre Port Lympne Reserve provides an exhilarating adventure for animal enthusiasts. Guests can enjoy afternoon tea at the Grade II-listed Port Lympne Mansion and indulge in sweet and savory delicacies paired with an extensive array of loose-leaf teas or coffee.
Fabulous safari park with a lot to see in a beautiful landscape. The rooms were amazing - our treehouse wasn't in a tree, but above the treeline with grand views over the park and the the landscape beyond, all the way to the sea. The steps are steep, but once you are up there the accommodation doesn't disappoint. The park itself has a lot to offer for all the family, with driven safari-style tours, self-drive golf buggies or walking. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and facilities of a high standard. The animals are impressive, and the conservation ethos and sheer space of the park sets it above normal zoo experiences. It's not cheap but still a great day out and highly recommended.

I recently stayed overnight at Pinewood Lodge with my two kids (ages 5 and 8) and had such a great time! The lodge was cozy, the beds were nice and snuggly, and it was perfectly located for exploring the park. The kids absolutely loved the primate trail and the Dinosaur Forest, and the safari ride was a big highlight — spotting rhinos, giraffes, bison and more felt like a real adventure. They also had so much fun roasting marshmallows by the fire in the evening and next morning, which made the whole experience even more special. We really enjoyed our meal at Babydoll’s Restaurant too — great food and a lovely atmosphere to end the day. Everything was well organised, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we’ll definitely be back. A brilliant mix of wildlife, learning and fun for families!

My husband and I had a fantastic time at Port Lympne. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in the Sir Phillip Sassoon executive suite and it was beautiful. We had an evening meal at the Baby Doll restaurant on our first night and on our second night we had an evening meal at Bear Lodge restaurant, and breakfast was also served in Bear Lodge. The food in both restaurants was delicious. On our first day we did the Gorilla Encounter, we got to feed the gorillas from the roof top and then see them inside, following that we had a safari and on our 2nd day we did the Giraffe Encounter and got to feed the giraffes. The staff on both encounters and the guide on our safari were fantastic, very informative, very welcoming and we had the best time even the rain on our first day didn’t stop us. Having the use of a golf buggy during our stay was also a bonus. Every member of staff made us feel so welcome and nothing seemed to much trouble, we will definitely be returning in the very near future

A fantastic day out with our 16 months old. What we absolutely loved about this park was the fact that the animals had SO much room. We've never been to a zoo before where animals have been so fortunate to be placed there. When we compare it to Howletts it's night and day the animal welfare. You guys have done a brilliant job here, animals come first. Yes, you don't always see the animals, but that in my eyes is a brilliant thing, cause it means they have a more realistic habitat. The Sunday roast in the Garden room was just brilliant, couldn't reccomend this enough. The service was also fantastic. We wouldn't hesitate coming back. It's great to support a park that actually care about the animals and use the money to better not only captive animals lives, but also animals in the wild. So refreshing to see a company doing the right thing for once. One thing to note, it is VERY hilly, so having a push chair was a work out for us with steep hills etc. we were pretty shattered at the end of the day, but little one loved it!

5 stars all round, without a doubt. We stayed in Mansion House, and the room was one of the best we’ve ever experienced — waking up each morning to the sounds of tigers, lions, lemurs, and more was unbelievable. We also did the Ranger Safari with Will, who was excellent: friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what he does. The food throughout our stay was incredible, and the whole experience felt like a once-in-a-lifetime getaway. Truly unlike anything I’ve ever done before. Highly recommend.

Rhino lodge. Where to start? Staff were great checking in, we were chauffeured to our lodge by a very knowledgeable young man who was extremely chatty. The lodge was clean, everything had been thought of, like toiletries, some snacks and drinks. There were even robes and slippers for us all to use. To our children's delight there were Rhinos by the fence in the paddock so they were straight out to see them. Next stop was the safari, the guide knew everything there was to know and shared so much information. Dinner at Babydolls was excellent. We had a fire pit in the garden and marshmallows had been lift in the lodge with sticks for us. This was a lovely touch! Breakfast in the garden room was beyond expectations, the food was incredible. The highlight of our stay for the kids was our golf buggy and being able to go round the zoo after closing time and early in the morning with no crowds. Not a cheap 24 hours, but one we'll never forget!

Booked a night at the Hog Deer Creek accommodation for my partner’s birthday. Absolutely amazing experience all round. The park itself is excellent, the animals are clearly well cared for with plenty of space. The staff on site be it in the reception, concierge, facilities team, rangers or restaurants are friendly, organised and highly professional. The food was fantastic and the Giraffe Experience is definitely worth doing. The accommodation itself was immaculate. Cosy, well equipped and it was extremely fun driving around such a large well kept site in the golf buggy. 5* all round, will 100% be returning again.

This was a truly magical stay & experience, with my daughter and grandsons, aged 12 & nearly 10 both wondered why we would stay two nights surely we can do the zoo in one day !! Ummm they soon changed their minds having the best time ever and loved every minute. Breakfast at the bear lodge was delicious, BabyDolls restaurant was a favourite a more relaxed vibe for children than the Garden room restaurant which we ate at the second night, food at both was very good and wouldn’t expect anything less. I would highly recommend this stay and would definitely go back. We made memories together that we will never forget.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Canterbury Cathedral, a Norman-built Church of England place of worship located in Canterbury, UK, is one of the oldest religious sites in England with a history dating back over 1400 years. It gained notoriety as the location where Archbishop Thomas Becket was tragically killed in 1170. Despite enduring fires and restoration efforts, the cathedral's Gothic towers and exquisite stained-glass windows continue to captivate visitors.
Canterbury Cathedral is absolutely breathtaking. From the stunning stained glass windows to the grand architecture, every corner tells a story. The atmosphere is peaceful yet powerful, and walking through its ancient halls feels like stepping back in time. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply experiencing something truly awe-inspiring. The audio guide was helpful too. Don’t miss the cloisters!
Federico S — Google review
Went on a Thursday, a week day. Large cathedral, bigger than expected. It did have some construction ongoing outside so that did affect the pictures of the building. Staff and volunteers inside were friendly and happy to tell you a lot about the history, for free. Ticket office staff also helpful explaining the differences in tickets. Very quick and easy. Cathedral probably needs two visits and definitely a tour guide to fully appreciate. There is a cafe and restaurant, and even a hotel. Toilet facilities were adequate. Good places to sit and read if you need a break also. Definitely will return.
Kenechi N — Google review
Very impressed. More than expected. Magnificent architecture. Huge, light, airy and less dark and oppressive when compared with Westminster Abbey. Beautiful ceilings and stained glass and extensive history. Less ‘tombs’ and fortunately less busy midweek. During our visit a Chaplain addressed all visitors briefly from the pulpit, and offered a prayer, using the cathedral for it’s intended purpose as a place of worship - not a tourist attraction - as it should be. The entry fee to the Cathedral is very reasonable considering the cost of maintaining the building and overseeing visitors. We paid an additional small sum for a guided tour which was exceptional. Lucky to get a ticket. The volunteer gave us a lot of insight into the development of Christianity in the UK, the various phases of the Church during different occupations and global conflicts, the murder of Thomas Beckett in 1170 AD, the destruction of his shrine by King Henry VIII in 1538, all wrapped up with visiting the different areas of the building and outlining the many extensions and renovations over 1000 years! Wonderful learning experience.
Stephen — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful place to spend the day. You can wander around the whole site taking in all of the history and story of the cathedral. There is plenty to see inside both in the crypt and the main floor. You can walk through the entire cathedral. There are places set aside for prayer and quiet contemplation. The outside areas are quiet and interesting to look at. Since the building has been cleaned on the outside you get a good feel for the surroundings and what it would have looked like when it was built. Hearing the bells on the hour was magical and seeing the places where St Thomas was murdered and the site of his tomb before it was destroyed in the reformation makes you stop and think. A fantastic day and a day of learning is never wasted. One day I will return to learn some more. Thank you.
Gary J — Google review
Beautiful Cathedral inside and outside. Very well maintained. You might need two days to walk around inside and outside, lovely gardens with lots of historical information. We thought it was free to enter, but it wasn't. We brought tickets either £19 or £21.00 each (don't remember exactly) they are valid for 12 months from the day of purchase. Just as well really, we thought they opened early on Sunday mornings, but they don't they have Sunday service and they open at 12.30. We had planned to go somewhere else and couldn't wait that long. We managed to walk around inside on Saturday morning early when it was quiet. The cathedral echos when people are talking, it looses it's essence of peace and solidtude. Definitely check the opening and closing times when planning a visit, it isn't visible from the outside of the cathedral which currently has scaffolding surrounding it for maintenance work. I will definitely go back to walk around the remainder of the cathedral before our tickets expire.

Went for a short stay to see Cathedral and town. So historic and interesting. (Museum was great too...and free! ). Went to a choral evensong with the school girls choir, in the Cathedral....beautiful. Next day toured the Cathedral and amazing Crypt. Well worth the money. Walking outside to other historic sites in the Cathedral area, afterwards. We didn't book tickets,as at the beginning of November, it was not busy.

Stunning... Just walking around this magnificent building is a delight... And there's no charges. So with a beautiful cathedral and a lovely quaint town with plenty of food options you definitely cannot go wrong for a good day out..
Geoff E — Google review
The Cathedral is truly a jewel of medieval architecture. The town, where Charles Dickens once lived for a while, has its own magic. You can feel the atmosphere of English life, away from the hustle and bustle of London (in a certain sense, it conveyed this to me). In the winter, it comes alive with university student life, and I think the pace of daily life changes, but despite everything, it remains beautiful to visit, perhaps even better.

Great place. I go from time to time and am never disappointed. This time I arrived in Ceilidh night. Which was completely awesome.

The beer was fine, but leaving the door open on a cold night was not a particularly welcoming atmosphere. No food is served. Very handy if you're visiting the Marlowe theatre opposite.

Service was fine but the pub stunk of damp, was very cold and the women’s toilets were mouldy. Not enjoyable for pre-theatre drinks. Could be a cosy little pub if it was cared for.

It’s not sure if it’s a pub or a disco/nightclub. No ales available. £6.40 a pint! You’re having a laugh! We’re in Canterbury, not London. One mouthful of substandard ipa and left. Please let someone who actually cares about their clientele take over.

Wondered into the Canterbury tales pub as just a stones throw from the marlowe theatre. Several pumps had run out so not much choice of beers. Pub was completely dead. Looked like the gents toilets was out of order so a bit of paper on the womens said unisex toilets. Was really cold inside the pub and smelt of dogs.

The theater hosts an array of performances including West End musicals, plays, concerts, comedy shows, and family-friendly events.
The Marlowe theatre. one of mine and #1 daughters favourite place! we went to see Rocky Horror today and the show was second to none. Staff as ever, amazing! the live band and the tech guys in charge of lighting and set changes were faultless! Another A grade show! if you haven't been, treat yourself. You will not be let down

The Marlowe theatre is a lovely newer building among the historic area around it. There are a few disabled parking spots just outside the entrance. There was a spot selling merch for the show (Rocky Horror) and a bar. The seats were comfortable and the stage was large and designed well. The show was great and well done everybody! Staff were very friendly. Toilets are clean.

Love going to the theatre... because I'm short, sometimes I struggle to see among the heads but yesterday I tried one of those cushions they provide and it was much better and SO comfy. Treat yourself to a night out! Oh! And we had dinner at the green room and it was delicious 😋

My husband and I went to the Marlowe recently. Whilst there are steps up to the theatre from the street, there is also a slope for those with mobility issues. Our seats at the back of the stalls were comfortable and we had a good view of the stage. My husband has some mobility issues but the staggered steps were easy for his to access. A very enjoyable time

The Marlowe has some fabulous shows which never disappoint. Seats are a good, comfortable size. My only real gripe is the cost of their alcoholic beverages. While I may only have 1 glass of wine, I refuse to pay £11 for a 200ml bottle of prosecco, so do not purchase anything. This is my choice but its just far too expensive for me!!

The Hastings Fishermen's Museum is a charming and intimate space showcasing the local fishing industry through photos, memorabilia, and personal stories of legendary fishermen. Housed in a former mission chapel dating back to 1854, the museum provides insight into the overwhelming importance of fishing culture in Hastings. Visitors can explore framed portraits, historical artifacts, and even climb aboard an old fishing lugger.
It's only a small little place but it was amazing to see the boat indoors and also to be able to go on deck. There is so much information about the shit from the day it was built to the day it was donated to the fisherman's museum. This is a great place to visit if your ever in Hastings.

A must-visit (if you’re into understanding a towns culture, heritage and history!). The care and attention that has gone into curating stories of Hastings over hundreds of years, photos, models, life size exhibitions and more besides. A wonderful tribute to the town. Wish we’d had a bit longer - spent about 45 minutes here, could be 60-90 depending on how much you want to take in. Be sure to leave a donation and don’t miss some of the outside info boards too.

Ruth B — Google review
Jam packed with quaint but low quality dioramas, photographs, and displays, with a fishing boat taking up most of the museum that had an accessible deck. Not much to see, was in and out in 5 minutes. No complaints though with free entry, some nice fridge magnets and the staff were lovely.
Mitch C — Google review
A charming museum packed with local history. The museum is small, one large room and a smaller one off to the side, but it really packs a lot of exhibits in. There's a really strong emphasis on reflecting the local history of Hastings and it makes for a great companion visit along with the Museum and Gallery on the other side of town. It's free to enter as well, though well worth a donation to keep it running!

Visitors can enjoy an evening brewery tour and a two-course set meal, learning about the brewing process and the company itself.
We had a very enjoyable visit to the Shepherd Neame Brewery in Faversham. The station is only a short walk away from the brewery and the tour we had was top class. The guide was informative and interesting and we came away having learnt all the history and enjoyed some delicious samples of the product at the end of it.

A very first time visit to the Britain's oldest brewery. The tour was informative and tour guide made us welcome with his friendly talk. He explained the whole brewing process step by step and the history of the site. At the end, tasting experience was great. Btw good to know about beer rather then just drink 😜. Worth the visit.
Win T — Google review
Visited brewery for the first time today and I was amazed! I am not much of a beer drinker so I was not sure what to expect, but it was actually great to see the process of beer making and the history behind it. At the end of the tour we had opportunity to taste some beers and learn more about the taste/smell of each one. Special thanks to Nick as he was a great tour guide! It is definitely worth a visit if you are interested in beers or not!
Kristina P — Google review
I could not recommend the tour and beer tasting highly enough! I came here for an afternoon outing with my family and we enjoyed every moment! Our tour guide Nick, was extremely informative and gave us a great look around the brewery and explained the intense process that goes into making the beer. I learned a lot about beer that I did not know before, and about the long history at Britain’s oldest brewery. We also had a great beer tasting, and I really enjoyed learning about Shepard Neame’s most popular and well loved beers. This is a great afternoon out and you will not be disappointed.

Amazing tour and tutored tasting today. Tour guide Aubrey was fantastic. Highly recommended.
Glen H — Google review
I found this tour to be highly informative and incredibly interesting. Not just in terms of the process for beer making but also on the history of beer and ale as part of the English culture and the company itself. Then as an added bonus you get to taste 6 different lagers / ales and stouts. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable experience. So much so that I’ve now signed up for the evening meal and beer tasting event.
JANE S — Google review
Note. The tour is now £25. The shop Is welcoming and sells a full range of SN beers, plus a few other labels they are licensed to produce. Also sell SN branded items, from t shirts to beer mats. This is a review of the shop, not the tour!
Philip S — Google review
A great experience visiting the Shepherd Neame brewery, Laura our guide was full of knowledge and interesting facts of the brewery. The tasting experience was a fascinating culmination of the tour. Would thoroughly recommend and hopefully enjoy a couple of hours looking in to the past and present from the oldest brewery in Great Britain.

Hastings Pier, originally built in 1872, underwent a major renovation and reopened in May 2016. The new design focuses on simplicity and functionality, featuring an observatory platform, restaurants, shops, and open-air event spaces. Unlike traditional piers with arcade games and gimmicky attractions, Hastings Pier offers a classy experience with its minimalist design and wooden kiosks.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Perfect Spot for Night Fishing — Hastings, UK Spent an amazing night fishing on the beach in Hastings — tent set up, rods in the water, and a sky full of stars. Super peaceful atmosphere, calm sea, and minimal light pollution. It’s a great spot to disconnect from the noise and just enjoy the moment. ✅ Pros: – Great for night fishing and camping – Beautiful view of the coast and city lights in the distance – Quiet and spacious area – Relaxing sea sounds all night ⚠️ Heads-up: it’s a rocky beach, so bring a mat or something soft for your tent. If you’re looking for a calm night by the sea — highly recommended!

The view from the pier is lovely. Unfortunately, not much was open, and it was the hottest day of the year as of June 2025. Many of the children's rides have been removed, but you still need to buy tokens for the two that remain. Great location with not a lot going on.
S H — Google review
Hastings Pier is known for its rich heritage that dates back to 1872. We visited Hastings with the aim to spend fair amount of time in the pier and enjoy the serene flow of water hitting the coastline. The water is exquisitely clean and blue with dedicated swimming areas that have lifeguards from 10am to 6pm. There are lots of attractions surrounding the Hastings Pier.
Khandker Q — Google review
A Thursday morning in August was not a good time to visit this historic Pier. It was mostly abandoned and the best part is the view to the Hastings beaches on either side. We had been here in the 1980s when the Pier was much livelier and more impressive. Hastings Pier was built in 1872. It suffered major storm damage in 1990, and was closed to the public for a time before closing completely in 2008. 95% of the pier was destroyed by a fire in 2010. After a major rebuilding project, the pier reopened in April 2016 but has not regained its former glory.
T H — Google review
The pier is very large and operates as much as an exhibition space these days. Not much shelter when there is wind and rain, so best to head for the cafe on the Pier for a welcome warm coffee.
Cornfields D — Google review
Absolutely nothing on the pier anymore. Only benefit at the moment is that it's a good point to stand & get a photo of the seafront. Hope someone can make use of it & give Hastings back a lively pier
Clare — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to Hastings Pier. It’s a calm and peaceful spot with little to no noise, which makes it perfect if you're looking for a quiet place to relax or reflect. Unlike the more commercial and busier Eastbourne Pier, Hastings Pier feels more open and laid-back. It’s not as wide or crowded, but that actually worked in my favour because I wanted a quieter experience. There are places on and near the pier to grab something to eat, and the nearby beach is just a few steps away. It wasn’t overcrowded when I visited, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. The views out to sea are beautiful and the breeze is refreshing. It’s a great place to sit and just enjoy the scenery. One thing to note is that the pier is right next to a fairly busy road, so getting there can be a bit hectic. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak times, so visitors should plan ahead or consider using public transport if possible. Overall, I had a lovely time and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a slower, quieter seaside experience.
Lemmy M — Google review
In a great location, lovely wide spacious pier with not a lot going on. Couple of places for food, drink and ice creams and some kiddies rides and that’s it. Nice view of the coastline but that’s it. Some small pop up shops that were closed.

Clacton Pier is a restored Victorian pier that offers a wide range of attractions and entertainment options. It features a funfair, amusement arcade, eateries, aquarium, and tenpin bowling center. The 350-meter pier also boasts a 50-meter Helter Skelter tower with views of the Offshore Wind Farm. Visitors can enjoy arcade games, rollercoasters, fairground rides, and special Circus Fantasia shows during the summer.
Not been in a British pier for a long time and this one definitely the best one I’ve been too, the entertainment hall was excellent, large selection of attractions, games, fruit machines even crazy golf! The simulator rides are excellent and very interactive. Reasonable prices and length of games were good. The actual pier was closed at the time we visited but looked pretty good! Not many people here when we visited but the place was very clean and tidy not like some other piers I can remember!

My partner and I saw the show The greatest love of all by Belinda David's. My partner has been to many theatres and shows, whilst it was my first time. We had an absolutely amazing experience, the staff were all friendly, the theatre itself had everything we could have needed. The seats were comfortable however im 6'3 and struggled a little for legroom. I found that the timings between the performance and interval were perfect. The bar was reasonably priced and facilities were good. We are planning on making it a new tradition to visit the theatre whenever we are in clacton. And would definitely recommend

The Hidden Relics - great game for any age. 1 hour play. Interesting idea of having fun with family or friends. Location is easy to find. The staff members (George and Emma) very nice, friendly and helpful. Parking space at the front of the building, you can register your car. Image from outside the building. At the end of the game they emailed me 3 pictures from the game rooms with my daughter and her friends, free of charge.

First time doing an escape room and it was such a fun experience - me and my friends loved it so much that we’re already planning our next visit. The place is so easy to find, with parking right outside. Our host Ashley was wonderful, so friendly and accommodating and explained everything really well. 5 of us did the Hidden Relics room - challenging but super fun and such an awesome concept. We escaped with just over 15 minutes to spare but it didn’t feel like the time went too quickly. It was so well organised and the set which consisted of travelling through 3 separate rooms and the props were amazing and well put together. I’ll definitely be back to try out some of the other rooms!!

What a thrilling experience again here, this time we escaped Twister and the Clinic! George is the most welcoming escape room assistant and always makes time for us! Twister has been the best so far, thumbs up to the Relic and to Bomb squad as well! Nickita, Eddie and Lily cannot wait for Medusa!

Thank you George for being an excellent host! Will definitely be back Very affordable and one of the cheapest escape rooms. Well thought out games. Not too complicated story lines and games compared to others I have been to. The room deco and special effects were great. Loved the themes of the games. One of the best and cheapest escape rooms I’ve been too. Parking on site. Game was on time and ran smoothly.

Great show and no bad views in this theatre. Would've been 5⭐️ if only we could've got an interval drink! Small bar and very long queue. We had to go thirsty until show was over...bar doesn't appear fit for purpose. But a good night was had otherwise.

Went to see the Cinderella production with partners' grandchildren. Love this theatre as plenty of leg room and no matter where you sit in theatre you get a good view. Tower Bridge provides visitors with a unique experience, offering panoramic views from its high-level walkways and access to the original lifting machinery. It stands out as the only place on the list that offers direct views over the Thames River. The moderately priced tickets provide a self-guided tour with fascinating city views, historical insights into the bridge's construction and London itself, interactive exhibitions, and demonstrations of how the bridge works. Additionally, it features a glass bridge section that creates an unusual sensation of walking on air.
Tower Bridge is absolutely stunning! One of the best spots to visit in London — the views of the River Thames are amazing. The exhibition is interesting and gives a good idea of how the bridge works. Everything was clean and well-managed. Definitely a must-visit when you’re in London!
Fajar T — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed talking the self guided tour. The glass floor gives a unique view of the Thames, but can be slightly unnerving. The engine room has the two steam engines, used to power the bascules, on display. Over all, it's very good venue for money.

One of the most important attractions in this wonderful city! Especially, if you visit it at night is way more beautiful! This bridge brings its own unique touch of beauty in London! You have to visit it with no hesitation! 🌉✨
Athanasios S — Google review
Tower Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in London and visiting it was a fantastic experience. The views from the bridge are stunning, both of the Thames and the city. Taking the Tower Bridge Exhibition tour made the visit even better, as it gave detailed insights into how the bridge was built and the fascinating mechanism behind its operation. Walking across the glass floor was a unique highlight too, giving a completely different perspective of the bridge and the river below. The site is very well maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing to keep in mind is that you may need to wait in a queue for entry, and on a sunny day this can feel a bit frustrating. Still, it’s not just a landmark to admire from outside, but also an educational and memorable experience to explore from within. Definitely worth visiting.
Stv — Google review
Walking near Tower Bridge is honestly one of the nicest things to do in London, especially if you’re trying to escape the busy streets without leaving the city. The view is unreal – you’ve got the bridge itself, which looks straight out of a postcard, the river Thames calmly flowing, and plenty of spots to just sit and chill. There’s something peaceful about hearing the water and watching the boats go by, even when there are tourists around. At sunset, the whole area lights up in warm colours and it feels kinda magical. It’s also surprisingly clean and safe, even in the evening. Loads of nice little cafes and street food stalls around if you fancy a bite, and the walk towards the south bank or down to St Katharine Docks is worth it too. You get a mix of old-school charm and modern city vibes. Would definitely recommend it for a date, a solo unwind walk, or just to take some beautiful photos. 10/10 – calming, scenic, and very London.
Monzia K — Google review
The Tower Bridge is a great stop if you're in the nearby area, and provides about 30min to 1 hour diversion. Combined with the free audio tour, great views complete with partial glass floor in one section, historic awe of the building process, and gift shop at the end - I would highly recommend if you're in the area. There are lifts for the tower, but I suggest/recommend you take the stairs getting some insight, facts and touch of history on the way up and down. There are benches to rest, toilets but no Air Con for most of it, however fans throughout provide plenty of relief - 84 degrees and it never felt sweltering inside. Learn how the bridge was designed, constructed and changes over the years - in particular the engine room videos and presentation on divers were really great. And whenever you're done walk along the Thames River path near the wharf and grab a bite to eat.
Will F — Google review
Tower Bridge is indeed an iconic and highly recommended destination for anyone visiting London. You've captured its essence perfectly! Here's a summary of why it's a must-visit, echoing your points: * Iconic Landmark: It's instantly recognizable and a symbol of London. * Ideal for Shorter Visits: As you said, it's not a full-day commitment but perfect for a few hours. * Photographer's Dream: Offers incredible opportunities for stunning photographs, especially of the bridge itself, the River Thames, and the surrounding cityscapes. * Engaging Experience: Walking across the bridge allows you to appreciate its architecture up close, enjoy the (often cold!) wind, and take in the mesmerizing views of the River Thames. * Great for All: Whether with friends or family, it offers a memorable experience. For those looking to delve deeper, the Tower Bridge Exhibition (inside the bridge itself) offers a chance to learn about its history, see the Victorian engine rooms, and experience the glass walkways for unique views. Even without entering the exhibition, a walk across and around the bridge is a highly rewarding experience.

Amazing! This was one of my favorite tours while in london. We bought our tickets which cost about $48. Place was packed. There is a cafe and a small gift shop inside, bathrooms of course. I would plan on spending at least 2 hours here if not 3. And then of course there's the crown jewels that speak for themselves. So much history here and so much to see I loved everything about this!

Wonderful experience. We travelled to Waterloo by train and hopped on boat to London Bridge for the Tower which was easy and entertaining. The Tower was fascinating, such history. The poppy installation was fantastic. A really good day.....but you need comfy walking shoes!

Great day out. Went on a weekend and not too busy outside of peak season. Crown Jewels clearly the highlight, and didn’t disappoint - displays nicely spaced out, not too much content to overload younger ones and up to date, but there’s also so much more to see. Poppy display was superb, exotic animals, Yeoman tour and White Tower also worth the time, with the latter having interactive area for children. Nice day out and good to take a picnic (though not lots of spaces to sit and eat).

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing experience! The London Eye offers some of the best views in the city—360° panoramas of the Thames, Big Ben, and the skyline. The ride is smooth and lasts long enough to really enjoy the scenery. Queues can get a bit long during peak hours, but they move quickly and are well-organized. Staff were friendly and the capsules were clean and comfortable. Definitely worth it, especially around sunset!

I’ve been wanting to take the kids on The London Eye for a while but I’m glad I waited until they were older otherwise I think they would have got bored after a while! We came during the summer holidays so the weather was nice and the views were beautiful. I pre booked for the best ticket prices and to take advantage of the £20 per adult and £18 per child special offers. We enjoyed it and the kids were able to spot famous buildings which was fun 😁 The only let down was that there were alot of us in our cabin as we were grouped up with a large family with limited seating so after a while of standing i had to sit on the poles due to issues with my knee and the kids sat on the floor. It was a busy day and I think the staff filled the cubicle to capacity This is something to bear in mind for those that may have ailments or disabilities where they need to sit down. Other than that it is worth the visit, we didn’t wait long in the queue and they also take pictures and give you a card with a QR code which can be scanned so you can purchase the pictures after your ride which is nice 😊

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An unforgettable experience! The London Eye is absolutely incredible — a must-see attraction when visiting London! The views are breathtaking, especially at sunset when the city lights start to sparkle. You can see iconic landmarks like Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and the River Thames stretching out below you. The ride itself is smooth and relaxing, and the capsules are spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole experience felt well-organized from start to finish. Whether it’s your first time in London or you’ve lived here for years, the London Eye gives you a whole new perspective on the city. I’d definitely go again!

The London Eye is one of those attractions that truly lives up to its reputation and is a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. The moment you step onto the giant wheel, you’re treated to spectacular panoramic views of London, stretching out as far as the eye can see. From the top, the historic landmarks like the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and even Windsor Castle on a clear day come into perfect view. Watching the River Thames wind its way through the heart of London adds even more magic to the experience. One thing families and visitors should prepare for, however, are the long lines. The London Eye is extremely popular, and during weekends or holidays, the wait can feel quite lengthy. For those short on time or traveling with children, the Express Entry tickets are definitely worth considering. They cost a bit more but save you from the longer queues, letting you enjoy the ride without the wait. The capsule itself is spacious and moves slowly, making it comfortable for families, children, and even those slightly nervous about heights. The pace allows you to really take in the scenic 360° views and capture plenty of photos without feeling rushed. Overall, the London Eye is an experience that beautifully combines fun, relaxation, and sightseeing. Despite the queues, it’s absolutely worth the visit for the incredible views of London’s skyline and its historic buildings. It’s one of those attractions that reminds you why London is such a timeless city.

The London Eye is an interesting experience that I was glad that I went on, but I am not sure if I would recommend. It offers great views of the city but I understand that The Shard and Sky Garden also can do this. Heck, the coffee shop at Tate Modern also has great views and it is free to go up. We had booked a time and were waiting for our slot, when we arrived 15 minutes early to join an extremely long queue. I was very surprised how quickly the line went and we actually boarded the ride at our allocated time. I suspect if we arrived early (within reason), we could have got on sooner rather than waiting around. Getting on and off was easy, even though the ride didn't stop. The entire trip lasted about 30 minutes and was very relaxing. Obviously the views were great, but I `think that I would have spent less time if I had gone up the Shard or Sky Garden, as the ride seemed to trudge along. The are definitely opportunities to get discounted tickets: book online or in the visitor centre or with the London Pass. Since the line went quick, I wouldn't pay extra for a fast path.

The London Eye, an iconic Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames, offers a breathtaking experience that defines London’s skyline. At 135 meters, it’s one of the world’s tallest observation wheels, delivering unrivaled 360-degree views of landmarks like Big Ben, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Shard. Each spacious, glass-walled capsule holds up to 25 people, ensuring comfort during the 30-minute rotation. The gentle pace allows ample time to soak in the city’s sprawl, with informative touchscreens pinpointing key sites. Tickets start at £33 online, though fast-track options (£48) cut wait times, a boon during peak seasons. Pre-booking is essential, as queues can swell, especially on weekends. The Eye operates daily, with evening rides showcasing London’s twinkling lights—perfect for romantics. Accessibility is excellent, with step-free access and wheelchair-friendly capsules. While the experience is undeniably magical, some may find the price steep for a single rotation, and foggy days can obscure distant views. Still, the London Eye’s blend of engineering marvel and panoramic splendor makes it a must-do. For families, couples, or first-time visitors, it’s a bucket-list highlight, offering a unique perspective on London’s historic and modern charm. Arrive early for shorter lines.

Big Ben, also known as the Elizabeth Tower, is a 16-storey Gothic clocktower located at the Eastern end of the Houses of Parliament in London. It is a global icon of neo-Gothic design and has been a symbol of British governance since its controversial renovation in 1835. Designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin, Big Ben's completion in 1860 marked an iconic addition to the London skyline.
Big Ben Tour – Inside the Elizabeth Tower Visiting the Elizabeth Tower might just be one of the best things you can do in London. Getting tickets, however, is the real challenge — plan ahead and try to book about six months in advance, checking the website regularly. No photos are allowed inside, which is a bit of a shame, but completely understandable. The climb is 334 steps up a narrow spiral staircase with just a simple metal railing, so this is not an experience for those with mobility issues or severe fear of heights. The first stretch is about 110 steps, with the rest broken into slightly shorter climbs and two rest stops along the way. Windows are few and far between, so you won’t have many chances to look outside during the climb. At the top, you’ll visit the belfry and see the Great Bell — Big Ben itself — up close. You’ll be there as the clock strikes the hour, with protective ear coverings provided to save your hearing from the thunderous chimes. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look at the clock mechanism and stand behind the famous clock faces before beginning the descent, which is once again split into sections with rest stops. Lockers are provided for your belongings, as nothing may be carried with you, and open-toed shoes are not allowed. The guides are fantastic — full of history, fun facts, and fascinating details about the tower and its clock. In the end, this is an unforgettable tour: fun, educational, a little bit challenging, and absolutely worth every step.

Absolutely love London. And Big Ben is a must see / visit. It has been beautifully restored and looks grand as it should. Right next to the houses of Parliament and across from Westminster Abbey just down the road from Buckingham Palace. And then there is number 10. Definitely make time to go to this iconic land Mark.
Zane C — Google review
I’m not the biggest fan of London, but Big Ben was absolutely beautiful. The architecture is stunning, and the city around it feels so classic and elegant. It was really cool getting off the Westminster stop on the Tube and walking straight up to see Big Ben towering above it’s such an iconic sight. Even if London isn’t your favorite city, this landmark will definitely impress you.
Rachel F — Google review
Big Ben is absolutely stunning and a must-see landmark! The architecture is incredible, and it really lives up to the hype. The only downside was how crowded it gets, especially during peak hours, which makes it a bit hard to enjoy peacefully. Still, definitely worth the visit and a great spot for photos.
Sara A — Google review
Big Ben is one of London’s most iconic landmarks — a true symbol of the city. Seeing it in person feels almost surreal, especially when you hear the clock chime across Westminster. The architecture is magnificent, with incredible detail and timeless charm. It’s especially beautiful at sunset or when lit up at night, reflecting perfectly over the River Thames. The surrounding area — including the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey — makes it a must-visit spot for first-time visitors to London. Even though you can’t go inside the tower, just standing nearby and admiring its grandeur is worth the visit. A classic London experience!
Eugene H — Google review
We didn't get to do the tour but coming off the tube and Big Ben being right there outside the station was pretty awesome. Its even bigger in person than I thought it would be. Really good angles from the station and out on the bridge.
Christopher G — Google review
Visited Big Ben while in London. Did you know its official name is the Elizabeth Tower, renamed in 2012 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee — but everyone still calls it Big Ben. The site was impressive, with plenty of onlookers taking in the views. We spent about 30 minutes exploring and enjoying the surroundings. Fun fact: the minute hand is roughly the same length as a single-decker bus! Overall, it’s worth a quick stop and was one of the highlights of our trip. Saluti

Big Ben is an incredible and historic landmark, truly one of the most famous symbols of London. The architecture is beautiful, and seeing it up close is a memorable experience. It’s a place full of history and charm, and it represents the classic elegance of the city. However, it’s a bit disappointing to see that some areas around it could be better maintained and cared for. Such an iconic site deserves more attention and preservation to keep its beauty shining for future generations. Despite that, Big Ben remains a must-see attraction and one of the most remarkable places to visit in London.

London Underground Limited, often simply called the London Underground, is a popular transportation system that offers an efficient way to navigate through the city. It is known for its ease of use and regular train schedules, making it convenient for both locals and visitors to travel around London. The system provides access to major attractions such as museums and iconic landmarks, catering to a diverse range of commuters from working-class individuals to executives.
The building, first listed as Grade II in 1970, was upgraded to Grade I in 2011. In 2013, it was announced that 55 Broadway would be converted into luxury apartments, once London Underground moved operations from the building in 2015 to their new headquarters in the Olympic Park, Stratford, London. In May 2014, it was announced that the architects, TateHindle, would lead the redevelopment and, in June 2015, planning permission and listed building consent was granted: however, this was not implemented and the planning permission expired in June 2018. In September 2019, a long-term lease of the property was sold by Transport for London for £120 million to Integrity International Group, founded by Tony Matharu. In May 2020, it was announced that Blue Orchid Hotels, a subsidiary of Integrity International, would convert the structure into a luxury hotel. (Wiki) Let's hope they don't change much of its beauty..

At first I was worried I wouldn’t be able to follow the system or get myself lost. Which I did, end up going the wrong way. But it’s actually so easy to follow, it’s good to make a few errors as then you will be conscious of ensuring you’re on the right tube. London Underground is amazing and it is really easy to get around and see places. I would walk around central London. Use the underground when going further afield. The trains are very regular, you will find they can get very busy, packed. Don’t feel you need to squeeze in, just wait for the next train as it will add to your experience and enjoy it better. As you would anywhere just be vigilant of your surroundings. I felt very safe, as a solo traveler I was very surprised.

As a visitor, you can’t ask for a better system to get about to major museums, etc. You get to ride with both the working class and executives alike. Iconic London ! Takes a little getting used to, if you need to travel in the City, it’s the way to go. As a visitor, we purchased a Visitor Oyster Card online, it’s a fantastic deal. Recommended.

This is a good way to get around London. The new trains and updated stations are good. It is easy to get a ticket and to get around. However, the ventilation is poor, horrible, hot, and sweaty. It makes for an unbearable and uncomfortable ride. However, some of the trains and train stations have proper ventilation and air but most do not. I only take one train with no transfers, which is all that I can bear, and walk just to be outside where I can breath easy. I caution you to only ride when necessary and recommend you walk outside if able.

These shops are all closed for good. I could rattle on about the good old days, (people actually pay to hear about it) and a book would be better; it would take a book, pdf, file, whatever to explain how much it has changed. Point? Many but the main one is: Thanks to Bid Rigging the same people keep getting rich fulfilling contracts that do nothing but cosmetic change. I'd rather see the old retailers (driven out by sky high rent, business taxes, business rates that the the big corporate retailers. Btw/ if you come to London be prepared to lug your suitcase up and down many flights of stairs. Of course the bureaucracy will point to "no step access" (only lawsuits by disabled brought that in) and there are more lifts (elevators), yes this is better than nothing - - lucky find one lift 20 years ago. The old, dirty, extremely noisy rolling stock in Central London is the same. Recently you could still find "MetroCamell" 1973. John Lennon probably on one. Sure, they Spent £16 Billion over budget and late) on a new Elizabeth Line. It's a nice reflection on what we have - - tourists are in central London for the sights, not off to Abby Wood (the other one) and to have them riding the clittering, clanking, clattering collection of caligenous junk - - (think Wizard of Oz to the Tin Man) is a disgrace.

The National Gallery, located in Trafalgar Square, London, is a renowned art museum housing an extensive collection of European paintings from the medieval period to the early 20th century. The gallery features masterpieces by celebrated artists such as Botticelli, Paul Cézanne, Monet, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Gainsborough, Turner, Renoir and Van Gogh.
A beautiful and inspiring place. The collection is world-class — from Renaissance masters to Impressionists — and it’s amazing that entry is free. The galleries are spacious and well organized, with helpful information about each painting. I also appreciated the quiet spots where you can just sit and enjoy the art. It can get busy in popular rooms, but overall it’s an unforgettable visit for any art lover.

Visiting The National Gallery was truly a magical experience. From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the atmosphere and every room tells a different story through its paintings. The layout makes it easy to explore, and the colors, details, and emotions in each artwork are breathtaking. It’s not just a museum but it’s a journey through art and history that leaves you inspired and full of wonder.
Alessandra N — Google review
It was a wonderful experience. The museum has a good collection of Monet and Van Gogh paintings, which I really enjoyed. For just an afternoon, it’s possible to see everything without getting too tired, though you could easily spend a whole day if you want to study the works in detail. We visited on November 17, and there was also a Christmas market outside the museum, which added a very festive atmosphere.
Y. J — Google review
A very spacious series of galleries housing some of the best known images in the international art world. With a restaurant and toilets and plenty of friendly guides you can easily spend a day here, or just pop in and revisit your favourites. It may look daunting from the outside but the new entrance makes the whole place accessible for anyone. Children of any age will find something to look at and many school trips visit and no they don't disturb the 'grown ups'! A teashop, restaurant, bookshop and well stocked shop make this a day, or two to remember.

I can say that I love this museum. Seeing such a collection of paintings for free is just amazing nowadays. There are beautiful paintings in every room. I could spend a day to visit it. Just do not forged taking a map at the entrance as this is a pretty large museum. French, Spanish, Italian, English, Deutsche… painters from middle age to impressionists. A pretty large collection of Impressionists paintings that can rival with that of Musée d’Orsay in France. Only the Louvre in France is more impressive (but far from being free) among all painting museums that I visited all other the world (with a special notice for Grenoble and Poitier’s painting museum that are great place to visit too).

The National Gallery, a one place to see history through paintings. As usual this gallery is free for entery and quite big so plan ahead. You can book free online ticket or walkin. Tube connectivity is there. Plan to enjoy and take photos from outside squar also. There is a paid washroom available outside. You get chance to see a lot of historical paintings and know about the artist. Due to limited time I was not able to complete it. Wear comfortable shoes and carry water if possible.
Kishan G — Google review
I visited the National Gallery today and absolutely loved it. It’s an absolute must visit place when in London, and you can spend hours wandering from room to room, never running out of things to look at. One of the highlights for me was seeing some of Monet’s pieces in person, a moment I’ve been looking forward to for so long. Standing in front of his work felt surreal, and it was worth the entire trip on its own. I highly recommend paying the galley a visit, especially because it’s free entry!
Chantelle — Google review
If you’re in London, you must visit this place. I stopped by during an 8 hour layover, and even though I couldn’t take my time the way I wanted to, it was absolutely worth it. The collection is stunning, wall after wall of masterpieces you could spend hours admiring. I barely scratched the surface and already felt amazed. I’ll definitely be coming back on a proper trip so I can truly enjoy and appreciate everything this museum has to offer.

The British Museum, located on Great Russel Street, is a grand neo-classical building that houses an extensive collection of over eight million artifacts and works of art from various cultures across the globe. The museum's highlights include Egyptian mummies, ancient Greek sculptures, the Rosetta Stone, and the Assyrian-Babylonian collection. It also features exhibitions on Africa, Ancient Greece and Rome, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Absolutely wonderful place to visit. We only had very limited time in London but this was somewhere we wanted to visit as we wanted to keep our costs low. The museum is free to enter but donations are welcomed. Firstly, the place is enormous. Various exhibitions are available with literally hundreds of things to look at, probably even thousands. It goes without saying that the place is very popular and often very busy so if you don't like crowds, do some research about your visit before you go. We spent a lot of time looking at the Egyptian exhibitions as my wife is very interested in that particular part of history but we did also wander around the Greek, Roman and middle Eastern parts as well. Both of us agreed that we would come back to visit but would definitely spend a whole day there as we felt rushed. There are places to grab a drink and a snack inside the museum as well, which is very welcome. It is worth noting that while backpacks are allowed, luggage is not. The shops nearby do offer a luggage storage solution.

What a place to visit. The world meets in London and I hope it continues that way. Everything is well organized, spaced and placed. It’s my second time in there and am keen to go back more times. This is not a one day visit you need few times to cover the whole Musuem. Recommend to come with comfortable shoes

Went on a Thursday in half term time, it was incredibly busy, loads of children! It was still a nice experience for my kids, they loved it. You need a couple of days to visit the whole museum, especially if you are looking to study anything in particular. Limited choices on thw food in the food court area and expect London prices but there is also a high end restaurant at the top. Own food and drinks are permitted only in the designated area. We will definitely come again to see and study other areas.

A Must-see Museum! You can literally feel the history of the world here. It’s free to visit; however, when you think about all the pieces taken away from their motherlands, it does feel a bit bittersweet. :) Make sure to book your tickets in advance — it gets busy! The ambiance will truly astonish you the moment you step inside.

A visit to The British Museum is a rewarding but demanding experience. To make the most of your trip, book your free ticket online in advance. While entry is free, I highly recommend the paid app for its excellent guided tours, which greatly enhance seeing incredible exhibits like the Egyptian mummies, Roman antiquities, and Persian histories. Be prepared for security and bag checks, and note that there's a fee for coat and bag storage. With more wonders than you can see in a single day, the museum thoughtfully provides portable stools—a welcome relief for tired legs. Several cafes and a restaurant are also on-site to help you refuel.
Arc M — Google review
Offers an outstanding and educational experience, with impressive exhibitions and an incredible collection from around the world. The curation, accessibility, and historical depth make every visit memorable and highly recommendable. However, amidst all this cultural wealth, it is important to critically reflect on the origins of many artifacts. A significant part of the collection consists of objects that were taken from their countries of origin under problematic historical circumstances. The museum could do more to address this legacy openly and transparently, initiate dialogues about restitution, and provide more context about the provenance of these treasures.Overall, the visit is rewardin yet the experience would be even richer if the museum visibly acknowledged its responsibility regarding looted art and made an active contribution to justice and transparency.

*5/5 stars* "I recently visited the British Museum and was blown away by the vast collection of artifacts from around the world. The museum's permanent exhibitions, such as the Rosetta Stone, the Elgin Marbles, and the mummies in the Ancient Egypt gallery, were fascinating. The temporary exhibitions were also thought-provoking and well-curated. The museum's layout and signage were easy to navigate, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The museum's location in the heart of London made it an ideal stop for anyone interested in history, culture, and art. *Tips:* - Plan your visit in advance to make the most of your time. - Take breaks to rest and recharge – the museum is massive! - Consider visiting during off-peak hours to avoid crowds. - Don't miss the museum's excellent audio guides and guided tours. *Overall, I highly recommend the British Museum to anyone interested in history, culture, and art. It's a must-visit destination in London!*"

The British Museum is truly timeless. It was my fourth visit, yet it still felt magical. My kids loved the Egyptian mummies — their excitement was contagious! As a Chinese visitor, I felt proud yet emotional seeing so many treasures from my homeland. The collections are stunning, though the crowds can be intense. Entry is free, but booking online helps you get in faster. This museum isn’t just about history — it’s about humanity, memory, and reflection. A must-visit for anyone coming to London.

The Victoria and Albert Museum, also known as the V&A, is a treasure trove of art and design spanning 5,000 years. It features a permanent collection of 2.3 million objects including stunning garments, dazzling jewelry, intricate mosaics, and ancient sculptures. The museum is currently hosting two remarkable exhibitions: 'Windrush 75,' which commemorates a significant historical event, and 'DIVA,' celebrating iconic performers.
The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is one of the most impressive museums I’ve ever visited. It’s a celebration of art, design, and human creativity from across the world. The building itself is stunning, and every gallery feels thoughtfully arranged. You can easily spend hours exploring everything from fashion and textiles to sculpture, jewellery, photography, and furniture. One of the highlights is the fashion collection, which shows how style has evolved over centuries. The sculpture galleries are equally captivating, with pieces from ancient times to modern artists. The museum does an excellent job of combining history with contemporary design, making it both educational and inspiring. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, and the museum is well signposted, which helps when navigating such a large space. Entry is free, though some special exhibitions require tickets. The café and gift shop are also worth visiting for a quick break or a unique souvenir. Overall, the Victoria and Albert Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in art, culture, or history. It’s a place that sparks curiosity and appreciation for creativity in all its forms a true gem in the heart of London.

I recently visited the V&A with a friend to see the Cartier Exhibition. It was great, even though it was a bit crowded, which meant no hanging about. However, there were opportunities to return to an exhibit if you wished. I visited on a lovely autumn afternoon and the colourful trees outside added to my enjoyment. There's also a beautiful cafe for a wide selection of food and drinks. It's one of my favourite museums to visit as they put on great exhibitions on a wide variety of subjects. I recommend it highly as a wonderful place to visit anytime.

The Victoria and Albert Museum is truly an amazing place to visit. The collection is huge, beautifully curated, and full of history, art, fashion, and design from all around the world. Every room has something interesting to see, whether you’re into sculptures, jewellery, textiles, or modern installations. The building itself is stunning, and you can easily spend hours exploring without getting bored. It’s a perfect spot for anyone who loves culture and creativity. Highly recommended for a day out in London!

If you’re anywhere near South Kensington, the Victoria & Albert Museum is one of those places you absolutely must pop into. As someone who’s lived in England for years, I can honestly say the V&A never gets old. What surprised me the most on my recent visit was just how incredible the ceramics collection is. If you’re even slightly into pottery, porcelain, glazes, or anything to do with craft and kiln work, you’ll be blown away. There are shelves and walls filled—and I mean filled—with pieces from all over the world, from tiny delicate bowls to massive vases taller than a child. You could easily spend half a day in the ceramics section alone. And it’s not just ceramics. The museum has an impressive range of sculptures as well—scrubbs, marble carvings, classical statues, and pieces that make you wonder how on earth someone carved something so smooth out of stone. You walk through a hall and suddenly you’re surrounded by history in 360 degrees. The jewellery gallery is another highlight. It’s not just “oh that’s pretty”—it’s genuinely fascinating. Crowns, brooches, rings, intricate metalwork… some pieces are hundreds of years old, shining under the lights like they were made yesterday. One thing I really love about the V&A is how hands-on it feels. They’ve got sections where you can take a closer look at materials, textures, and even a few areas where touching certain samples is allowed. And if you love photography or design, the V&A has a bit of everything—fashion, textiles, prints, historical photos. It’s like a treasure chest that never ends. Honestly, if you’re truly into art, craftsmanship, or history, one day is nowhere near enough. You think you’ll breeze through it, but the more you look, the more there is. It’s the kind of place where you follow one hallway, and suddenly you’ve discovered an entirely new world. So yes—highly recommended. If you’re visiting London, the V&A should be right near the top of your list. Free entry, world-class collections, and genuinely inspiring. Come for an hour and you’ll wish you stayed the whole day.

My visit to the Victoria & Albert Museum was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. As I entered the galleries connected to Punjab and Sikh history, I felt a deep emotional connection. The artifacts linked to Maharaja Ranjit Singh—his weapons, jewelry, and artistic treasures—were beautifully preserved and displayed with great respect. Seeing them filled me with immense pride for my heritage. The staff at the museum were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Each section was well-explained and thoughtfully organised. For anyone interested in Punjab, Sikh history, or Indian heritage, the V&A Museum is truly a treasure. I highly recommend this museum to every traveller visiting London. It’s not just a museum—it’s a place where you feel connected to your roots.

A Truly Remarkable Day! I simply can't recommend the membership strongly enough! My visit to the Marie Antoinette exhibition today was truly remarkable. Not only was the collection breathtaking, but the staff were incredibly kind and attentive throughout the day. What a fantastic museum experience!

Free to enter for their main exhibits, except for special exhibitions. But there's plenty to see and explore in the different courts, organised by theme, geographical area and time period. Wheelchair accessible Look out for the giant statue of David in the Cast Courts, as well as the rather large pillar of Trajan. Also, the collection of sculptures donated by Auguste Rodin. If you like Jewellery, head up to 2F.

The Natural History Museum, located in South Kensington, is a renowned institution that celebrates the marvels of the natural world. Established in 1881, this iconic London museum boasts an extensive collection of specimens and interactive displays covering diverse topics such as dinosaurs, fossils, gemstones, and meteorites. Visitors are treated to a journey through time and space as they explore the rich diversity of life on Earth and the powerful forces that have shaped our planet over millions of years.
I have such fond memories of the Natural History Museum from school trips and visits over the years. I’ve been several times as an adult too, with friends, family, and visitors to London, it’s always a wonderful experience. The main attraction is, of course, the incredible dinosaur displays, which never fail to impress. There’s so much to see and do, from fascinating exhibits to a beautiful garden outside that’s well worth exploring. Entry is free, and there are plenty of cafés and places to eat and drink inside. I’d definitely say this is a must visit for anyone coming to London, especially if you have children who love dinosaurs, it’s truly amazing.

You can book a time slot ticket for free online before hand. This ensures you dont have to queue if it gets too busy. Truly a must visit Museum in London. There are so many different exhibitions that you can easily spend 3 hours here. Of course the main attraction is the Blue whale skeleton, called hope. It weighs 4.5tonnes and measures 25.2m long. This is a real blue whale skeleton and not a model! Can you imagine! There is a dinosaur exhibition and for your info, most of the bones on display are actual dinosaur bones! If you see its dated, then its real dinosaur bones. Other than that there are other paid exhibitions available throughout the museum.

The museum is well-maintained and full of interesting collections. Natural History Museum in London and was truly impressed. The building itself is stunning with its grand architecture and detailed interior. The dinosaur and gemstone exhibits were fascinating and well-organized. I especially enjoyed the interactive sections that make learning fun for both kids and adults. Spending few hours here may not enough. I recommend booking paid tickets for elderly visitors.

Always love going to museums where ever I go to take in the local perspective. It is free entry with donation recommended, which is easy once you see what this place has to offer. This would have been one of the larger sites I have visited in my travels. It has a large variety of collections spanning several floors. I really enjoyed most of the galleries I saw, with their interactive displays that complement the static representations. We literally spent all afternoon their until close and still didn't get a chance to see the whole building. Missing out on the Darwin, and some of the green sector. From what we did see the rest of the place would be just as amazing. Since it's free entry it can definitely be a 2 day walk about. The place is large and requires a bit of sauntering. There are lots of benches and presentations that you can sit while you watch. Which is nice for those who have mobility challenges. Overall, a great visit but if you really like to hit every inch, it's a whole day visit so keep that in mind.

Well kept clean and spacious. Wheel chair acess though out and entering with no steps . Its extremely hot inside even in November. Could do with air conditioning. Lots of history with lots of animals. Great for kids all ages and adults. Toilets and disabled toilets on site with a cafe which is rather expensive so I would recommend brining yours own lunch in if you are a family. 2 coffees and a cookie was approximately £15 . Over all a great experience and very educational. If you home educate your children its worth a day trip in to London to visit the museum. Hot peanuts with honey out side are delicious 😋 pre book tickets for free on line to avoid quing. Pre booked Tickets walk straight in and que jump !

Today, I took a group of elderly visitors with dementia to the London History Museum. Our group varied in mobility — some were able to walk independently, one used a walker, and two were in wheelchairs. We had a brilliant time exploring the different rooms, and the earthquake experience was truly amazing and impactful for everyone. The museum was quite busy with several school groups, which did raise some concerns. One of my members was bumped into twice by a school group, causing them to become unsteady on their feet. While the school group was apologetic, the situation was a little disappointing. The only drawbacks were that the toilets are quite spread out across the museum, and the lifts were sometimes difficult to use due to limited capacity and unclear floor labels. Despite this, we managed to navigate successfully. It was nice to see seating areas scattered around the rooms, providing opportunities for rest. Booking disability parking was straightforward and very helpful, with friendly staff assisting us both on arrival and when we left. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I’d love to return with my family next time for a more flexible visit

For a free entry this museum was absolutely incredible. A very wide variety of exhibits from a multitude of scientific fields. Definitely take your time and explore the entire building. Enjoyed looking at all the different animal exhibits. The dinosaur section of the museum was very fascinating to go through 🦖. I also enjoyed the geological sections. It really does seem that the museum is promoting education at no price! 👨‍🔬 A must visit if you're in the area.
