Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Located just 30 kilometers from Cesky Krumlov, Vyšší Brod Monastery is a stunning architectural marvel that took over 120 years to build, starting in the 13th century. The monastery offers two different tours - one exploring the church, picture gallery, and library, while the other focuses on the reliquary cross of Zavis from Falkenstejn. Visitors can witness old historic parts and even catch a glimpse of monks living and working there.
Fantastic Place. There is also possibility to book a room nearby with food etc. I was there on vacation with my family for around a week, and these were probably the best holidays that we had.
Stanislav W — Google review
Today I visited the Monastery at Vyšší Brod with my family. We had purchased tickets from a lovely lady at the visitors center, cash only, reservations on line available for groups of 8+. Our guide showed us the crypt, and then we climbed up a steep winding staircase in a narrow turret to a special chamber to see the unique and most beautiful 13th century bejeweled Zavis cross. Later our tour continued inside the church, where we joined a new group with an elderly guide. My enjoyment of the beautifully ornate interior was marred by our new guide’s rambling on about how American tourists misbehave in the church, he actually proceeded to describe all their different antics for uncomfortable several minutes instead of telling us about the history of the church. Mind you, our group of 10 communicated in perfect Czech as did the guide. He later commented on several statues and altars and we proceeded toward the picture gallery and the library. While waiting for a group in front of us to move on, the guide started another hate speech about Americans, this time Texas farmers and how they are rich and want to buy everything. He mentioned, that he also does the English commented tours and is writing a book about Americans. I am not sure why he was carrying on with his inappropriate ranting, but for me, he spoiled the whole tour. I tried to quietly walk away from him and concentrate on the beautiful ornate decor and the many ancient books, wishing there was another group I could switch to. The rest of the people listened to his historical commentary, he seemed to be well prepared, but when he started again making snide remarks about Americans, I could not get out fast enough. So when you get an elderly stocky guide with unkept dark hair, gray layer on top, mustache and beard, watch out, he really is a racist.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
A charming journey into the past. Take the guided tour through ancient walls of an almost unchanged monastery. The medieval library is simply stunning.
Florian — Google review
Very disappointing. Although on website it says there is tour in English, when we got there we were told there are only tours in Czech. Not recommended for international tourists, as you cant understand anything, and the English printed text is very lacking.
Shani M — Google review
A very beautiful monastery especially on the inside. Visiting the inside can only be done by tour, but it's absolutely worth it!
Thomas C — Google review
Unfortunately, in November, it is pretty much closed. Nice area, nice surroundings, nice view. I would describe it as an enjoyable walk.
Karina A — Google review
Great Church and monastery, there's a tour where you can see old library and maybe see some monks actually living and working there. Worth the tour. If you're allergic, beware and take your medicine, there's tons of dust especially on the books (and there are many of them)

Very interesting beautiful monastery. The older historic parts are especially fascinating.

Hotel Rose

Hotel
Hotel Rose, located in Rozmberk, is a charming 17th-century building offering airy rooms with the option of river views. Situated along the river opposite the castles, it offers a perfect location for enjoying kayaks coming down the river from its large terrace. The best hotel in Rožmberk. Perfect location along the river opposite the castles. Large terrace from where you can enjoy the kayaks coming down the river. Very spacious rooms. The breakfast buffet has a decent selection of products. Staff is very friendly.

We had a lunch at the hotel by the riverside. While the food was excellent, the service with a smile won our hearts.
Sanjay B — Google review
Simple, but inexhaustible breakfast service (just ask if there seems to be no more yoghurt). Excellent location for a canoeing trip. Very good pizzeria nearby.
Jan-Gerard T — Google review
Excellent lunch at great location in ideal summer weather !! Outstanding service and great quality food at a steal value … must try
Amit K — Google review
Tried the restaurant. The reception is horrible. Ordered 2 trouts for 2 persons. Both of them were actually bloody red inside. I mean leaking red blood. Was charged 25CZK for a glass of tap water. Actually it looks like the team is a bunch of hill billies that decided to rob people by pretending to serve food. I think they are going out of business and therefore hate the customers. To be avoided absolutely.
John S — Google review
Fantastic place. Way calmer and more idyllic than it’s more frequented neighbor. Great local food, self made lemonade, friendly service and - for German comparison - low prices. Mega recommendation!
Andreas W — Google review
Food was great. Higher prices. All Waitress looks really unhappy and one of them was really rude.

Synagoge in Český Krumlov

Mentioned on
4 lists
Synagogue
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
The Synagoge in Český Krumlov has been a part of the city's skyline since the early 20th century, adding to the picturesque view alongside the Vltava River. Although it no longer functions as a synagogue due to the absence of a Jewish community, it holds historical significance and offers insight into its past through pictures and exhibits. While there is an entrance fee, it presents an opportunity to explore and learn about its rich history.
Today, the beautifully renovated and maintained object was built in 1909 in the neo-Romanesque style with Art Nouveau elements. It is certainly interesting that this was the first building on the whole territory of Austria-Hungary, for the construction of which a reinforced concrete structure was used. The plans were designed by Victor Kafka, a Prague architect based in Vienna. The construction was largely financed by the local wealthy factory family Spiro and carried out under the leadership of the builder Sosna. The synagogue was used for services until 1938, after the war it served the Czechoslovak Hussite Church and after 1969 as a warehouse for the backdrop of the castle's Baroque theater. After 1990, it was returned to the Jewish community. Today you will find the pleasant and cozy Cafe Synagoga in the building and on the adjacent garden terrace, concerts and cultural and social events are held in the nave.

Theres nothing much in the menu haha. I was looking for their famous croissant, unfortunately not available during winter i think. Their drinks are nice though. Quite far from the castle and centre. The environment vibe is cute and quiet and cozy. Their ginger cake is likeable 🫶🏻
Erin I — Google review
It is important to note that this is not an active synagogue. In the past it was a synagogue, today it is a center for cultural events, exhibitions, galleries, and more. The place is well-preserved, cared for, clean, and tidy. For those who care about the history of European Jews, it is worth a short visit.
Eddy T — Google review
This synagogue has been totally restored, but it is a museum, not used for prayers. The museum tells the fascinating history of the Jewish community in this city in a clear and interesting way, and shows how they built a paper industry and provided jobs and brought electricity and prosperity to the area, before they were all wiped out by the Nazis. The history is all documented so clearly by a Jewish photographer, who lived here in the early 1900s, and his studio is also a museum in town. The visit to the synagogue was a real eye opener for us, and highly recommended for a half hour stop over.

The best pastry shop we have ever tried not just in Krumlov but anywhere. They offer very spectacular desserts. My English is not good enough to describe the perfection of the flavours here. They also provide friendly and helpful service. Do not expect super low prices though. You have to pay for this kind of quality. Highy recommended.
Ádám H — Google review
Cute little cafe located in the old part of Cesky Krumlov. They have very beautiful looking pastries and with Kolach which I tried because of the reviews. The Kolach was quite tasty indeed, I wouldn't say cheap though at Kc85 a piece. Service was friendly and attentive. Menu is only in Czech. Your standard fare of coffee and hot drinks along with a few others. Interior is not cozy but rather chic pink, Parisian style. What I did not appreciate was being charge Kc20 for a carafe of tap water. Almost globally tap water is never charged for unless its source is bottled or carbonated. Kc20 for tap water without being told it costs that much is ridiculous.

The museum features wax figures of famous personalities from various fields, including cinema, music, politics, and history. From Albert Einstein and Michael Jackson to modern day celebrities! The layout of the museum is well designed, providing an enjoyable and interactive way to discover the stories of the personalities who have left their mark on the world. The figures are so lifelike that they create a memorable experience and you can take photos with them, making for wonderful memories. Additionally, there is an offer with the TORTURY Museum, where, instead of paying 150 CZK, you pay 200 CZK and gain access to both museums, making it a great deal for those who want to explore two different worlds in one visit.
Panagiotis P — Google review
It is not a very big wax museum, but the exhibits are beautiful and you should buy a ticket together with the Torture Museum, which will make it cheaper. Overall, if you don't have much time, you don't need to go in, but if you have time left, it is a good and beautiful place.
Nattapob P — Google review
I found it interesting, and I believe it deserves more publicity. It's definitely worth seeing even if it's not too big. I believe the entry fee is just. I had fun. Especially liked Sissi.
Karina A — Google review
Very life like wax models of notable people throughout Czech and world history. Some of them I thought were real people. I recommend buying a combo ticket covering this and also the house of mirrors.

Schwarzenberg Tomb, located near Trebon in South Bohemia, is a captivating neo-gothic architectural wonder. Situated not far from the Svet Pond, this tomb offers guided visits with detailed explanations that enhance the experience. Visitors are enchanted by its beauty and often liken it to something out of a Disney movie. It's truly a beautiful and fascinating place to explore.
Beautiful, final resting place for members of a noble family of Schwarzenbergs. It is an easy walk along "Svet" (a huge pond). It is closed on Mondays, but even the walk around and pondering the beauty of the place and our own mortality is worth it.

There are cafes around the beautiful and quiet city. You can sit in cafes. There is no toilet in the center. You can meet your needs in cafes. There are various places to eat. I discovered a nice pizzeria. It is a place where you can walk while eating ice cream. It is also beautiful at night. I especially put the night photos. There is also a currency exchange office where you can exchange your currency.
Uğur — Google review
We were lucky to be able to visit the tower on the last day before it closes for the winter season. 255 steps to climb, but it was worth it because the view from the top was gorgeous. The man selling the tickets was very nice and helpful.
Sarah C — Google review
The historical tower is a must-visit attraction. There are approximately 200 stairs leading to the top. The initial section of the staircase is a historical stone spiral staircase with limited space, which might be challenging for claustrophobic individuals. There are informative boards about the tower's history and its bells, but unfortunately, they are only available in Czech. Tickets can be purchased at the top, and the cost for an adult is 60 CZK. The attendant is very friendly and speaks Czech, English, and German. The top offers a breathtaking 360 view of the city and a detailed perspective of the nearby main square. There is a small gift shop, and the functional clock mechanism is displayed within a glass vitrine, along with historical information about the clock and the city (this time also in English). It is undoubtedly worth a visit!

No visitor to the city of Budweis should miss the opportunity to visit one of its most prominent landmarks – I'm talking about the Black Tower. It was built during the years 1550–1577 as a symbol of the city's economic prosperity at the time. Under the guidance of Italian architects, the tower reached an impressive height of 72.25 meters. Admission is 60 Czech Crowns and must be paid at the top. If you're reasonably fit and not afraid of heights, you should definitely climb to the top for a splendid view of the beautiful city of Budweis. Please be aware that the tower is closed on Mondays.
Martin — Google review
The entrance fee is only 30 CZK and you pay it when you reach the top of the tower. Magnificent views of the city ,you will be rewarded with a beautiful 360 view on the city. And if you know where to look, you can even see Hluboka Castle and nuclear power plant in the distance. MUST SEE

Really worth to visit! Event though the ticket is not the cheapest, its worth to see what standards they have on the beer that you might have tried. The tour takes appx. 55 mins, provides interesting information. We had a pleasure to have as a guide the long term Quality Director, he knows what's going on there! During the trip you can try their non filtrated beer.
Ewelina B — Google review
We took a tour of Budweiser plant. It was in English, not that expensive, very interesting. We tasted two kinds of unfiltered lager. It had an interesting and a different taste. The tour lasted around 50 minutes. They do tours in the afternoon in English, Czech and German. The only downside was that the tour guide's English was not that good (but we understood everything). The adjacent restaurant was too expensive for us.

Great place to visit to learn more about the national Czech drink 🇨🇿 Beer tasting (spoiler : it is really good) with a very nice guide tour 🍻 You can also buy nice souvenirs 🎁 Definitely worth it if you are in Ceske Budejovice!

We visited Budvar on a rainy day, because we wanted some indoor activity. The guided tour takes aprox. 60 minutes. Since September, there is only one tour, with the start at 2 p.m. We recommend to come sooner. There is also an interactive beer museum at the customer center, where you can get information about the history of Budvar brewery. The visit of the museum is free. Very good was also a short film in the Budvar cinema.

Amazing tour today! Simply put, our tour guide, Milada (and a volunteer btw) was amazing. What passion she has for the company she represents. The tour was extremely informative. We were taken to all areas of the brewery and got to see all the behind the scenes action. The beer tasting was great—straight from the barrel. Again, our tour guide was so amazing. Treat her well, Budvar.

Manor house
The State Chateau of Hluboká, located in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, has a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Originally a royal castle, it now stands as one of the most stunning castles in Europe. The interior boasts intricate woodwork, gold ceilings adorned with rare painted flowers, canvas wall paintings by French artists, and stained glass from Swiss churches. The library is particularly noteworthy.
This is a truly beautiful castle/palace to visit! You can go inside or just walk around it and visit the gardens (that’s free). We came on Monday, so we couldn’t go inside, but we walked outside and loved this place! The castle itself looks really cute! Don’t forget to go around it! And don’t forget to visit the garden on the right side. It is also beautiful and has really old trees that are huge! You can’t park your car anywhere near, you will need to park below the hill and walk up about 500m. There is also a nice place to eat not far from there!

The biggest and most wonderful castle in Czech Republic. In a country with more than 2000 castles, this one surpasses them all in terms of interiors and architectural style. It is also well furnished. You can go up on foot, or by a little train, from the parking, if you want some fun.

The interiors are richly decorated, showcasing exquisite woodwork, historic furnishings, and artwork that reflect the grandeur of the Schwarzenberg family who once lived here. It's unfortunate that photography is not allowed inside, as the rooms are truly impressive and worth remembering. Still, the guided tour provides fascinating insights, and the castle itself is a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or just a beautiful .

A Neo-Gothic Fairytale Masterpiece! Absolutely Breathtaking. Hluboká is an incredibly stunning castle that truly lives up to its "fairytale" reputation. The exterior, inspired by Windsor Castle, is immaculate and the white architecture against the backdrop of the park is simply breathtaking. The Interior Tour: I highly recommend taking a guided tour to see the luxurious interiors. The rooms are a magnificent display of aristocratic wealth—from the intricate wood carving and grand staircases to the priceless art and Murano chandeliers. A real journey into the 19th-century noble life. Grounds: The surrounding English Park and gardens are massive and perfect for a relaxing stroll, offering different beautiful views of the chateau from every angle. Tip: Be aware that photography is usually forbidden inside the castle, but the outside views make up for it! Get there early or book your tour tickets online, as it is very popular. A must-see in South Bohemia!

A beautifully maintained 13th century Neo Gothic Chateau in South Bomehia overlooking the forests, town and Vltara River. All the rooms have been preserved to their original state. It was considered a hunting retreat for the royal families so if you're a big animal lover this one may not be for you as all the open rooms are adorned with many many animal trophies. It was considered very modern in its time as they had electricity and modern toilets as far back as the 1920's. Its huge and beautifully architectured and maintained. Worth a visit

Visited the fairy-tale beauty of Hluboká Castle (Hluboká nad Vltavou), one of the most stunning castles in the Czech Republic. Located near České Budějovice in South Bohemia, this neo-Gothic masterpiece is often compared to Windsor Castle in England. With its breathtaking architecture, beautiful gardens, and rich history, Hluboká is a must-visit destination for travelers exploring Europe.

Worth the detour this is a gorgeous unique castle with ties to powerful families in Europe. In October it was off season so two wings were closed to the public and since it was raining so was the tower. Leaving only one wing to visit which was unfortunate. You can also only visit with a guided tour, our guide was funny and knowledgeable. Would recommend!

Incredible but english tour guide could use more people skills. He wouldn't answer any group questions about the castle or royalty ... Can't understand why. The catle itslef is worth a detour! Highly recomand!

Nestled in the South Bohemian region, Červená Lhota Castle is a picturesque Renaissance chateau situated on an island in the middle of a serene lake. Its striking red-pink facade and richly decorated interiors make it a fairytale-like destination. Visitors can stroll along walking trails surrounding the lake or even rent boats for a leisurely experience.
A wonderful place for a walk ✨️

Excellent trip with the kids, even made at the beginning of December (by that time parking was free of charge, otherwise it's 60 Czk). Nice walk around the lake (1 km, follow yellow marking). Spectacular views possibly every season. Check if guided tour inside is provided, it's about 40 minutes, we'll prepared and even kids liked it (in December it was focused on Xmas habits of nobel family).

If I could, I would have given 4,5 Stars. Why? Because the Castle is suppose to have water around and for the past few years it’s only been a mud🤷🏼‍♂️ Otherwise: ➕beautiful and unique Castle🏰 ➕very good Tour guide🗣️ ➕ideal for Photoshooting ➕stroller friendly We did a Tour (Podkroví) with 2 kids (6&4) which lasted 30min and they managed😅😎

We visited Červená Lhota island castle during hot summer weekend and it was not very busy there. We did not go inside the castle and just enjoyed a short walk around the parkland. The nature is rich there, there is lot of shade so one can hide from the sun light. There are few booths with toys, refreshments and souvenirs. Apart from that, you can find cheap toilets and two bistros.

A very very beautiful waterside red castle! It is advisable to hike, fish, sunbathe, enjoy the scenery, or just to daze. Of cause, the best thing should be done is to take photo again and again with continuous surprises.

An 1h and a half from Český Krumlov. Perfect day trip if you like to spend time in the beautiful nature or exploring castles. The castle and the surrounding area are very good managed. There are plenty of souvenir shops, coffee bars, even hotels. Parking is available for 60kr. Toilet costs 5kr which is hilarious but inside is clean. I did enjoyed the area and I took a lot of photos. Gorgeous place!

The Museum of Chocolate and Marzipan is a delightful attraction that offers a whimsical experience with its intricate marzipan dioramas. Visitors can embark on an educational journey through the history of chocolate, from ancient times to modern-day confections, while admiring impressive chocolate sculptures depicting various figures. The museum also provides insight into the process of crafting chocolate and marzipan, complete with adorable displays.
Great fun for our little ones from 3-10 years, they had so much fun admiring all the chocolate exhibits, then making their own creations using marzipan and sprinkles. The smell of cocoa, especially by the train, is amazing. There is a fairytale underground. One of them is very dark and could be quite scary for the very young ones. ….Still having fun at home with the marzipan multi color kits, making food for dollies and such.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
I did not go to the museum, because the ticket is expensive - 280 czk. But I bought a delicious chocolate bar here. Truly great quality Bean to Bar chocolate
M — Google review
This is the type of place that could be so bad that it was good, but the smell inside just makes it awful. though it does have some highlights like Mr. Bean and his car made out of chocolate, and who can forget Check Republics largest interactive chocolate train. The barbies with dresses made out of a combination of chocklate and fabric, the rosedress (also combo), the small devils in the basement who just drink all day instead of processing the chocolate. Basically, the type of exibit that may scarare your kids enough to give them nightmares... help you take a break from chocolate (who am I kidding, just go get a new chocolatebar, and you'll be fine). But if you are looking for a place to scare your kids off chocolate, this is the place for you! Or if you are in the erea and curious about just how bad this can be and have time to spare, I'd say go for it. It's deffenetly a memorable place ✨️

Disclaimer: Do not visit this museum! We were in Tabor and the museum was around the corner from our apartment so we wanted to give it a try. Compared to the other very reasonable priced museums in town, the ticket is way too expensive (250 crowns per adult, that’s around 10€). Most of the exhibited chocolate models are old and there are tons of food moths flying around. The smell in some rooms is disgusting which is weird for a museum about chocolate and marzipan. We were totally disappointed as we did not learn anything about chocolate or marzipan making. The only slightly interesting thing was the so called „Fairy Cellar“ which reminded us of the museum of the Husseits in the center of town. To be honest I wouldn’t even go here if it was free, what a waste of time and money.
Celina B — Google review
A neat little museum dedicated to chocolate and marzipan. There's plenty of information (much of it in English as well as Czech) about the history and production of our favourite sweet treat. All the best displays are actually made of marzipan; there's some impressive models (including the town square and the castle) made in exquisite detail. OK, so the fairy tale cellar is a bit odd (maybe one for the kids!), and it's a little on the expensive side, but if you're in Tábor it's worth a look. Tip: Try the hot chocolate. It's pure melted chocolate (variety of types to choose from), served in espresso cups. You don't need more than that!
Robin W — Google review
If you have 270 czk , don't spend it here go to coffee budik in front. Strange creatures are making strange noises in the basement. Just think, it was such a worthless activity that even paying 40 CZK would have been heartbreaking. Seven of us visited. We could have probably bought two acres of cocoa tree land with the entrance fee in total we gave.
Ebrar O — Google review
Visiting the chocolate museum was such a great experience! It has exhibits and activities for younger children and for adults. There's also a workshop where we could make our own chocolate and marzipan creations.

The Hussite Museum in Tabor is a must-visit for those interested in the city's rich history tied to the Hussite religious movement. Founded by Protestant radicals known as Taborites in 1420, the museum offers insights into this significant period of Czech history. Visitors can explore the underground cellars around the main square, where a guided tour provides a glimpse into their historical use and significance.
Very interesting and illustrative museum. Also suitable for children as there is a lot to touch and experience for yourself. Unfortunately, not everything is in English. The guided tour through the catacombs was also only in Czech with accompanying material to read in many languages. But the staff make a lot of effort to overcome any language barriers and the whole museum conveys Czech national pride and the importance of the Hussites for the Czech Image today.

Interesting tour of underground tunnels around the central square of Tábor. Unfortunately there is only a card provided in all other languages (English, German, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, etc) and many of the details of the tour are lost because they are not described on the cards.

We went with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised! The exhibition seems to be recently renewed. It features a lot of interactivity, digital materials and the overall installation is on a very nice level. We enjoyed our visit! Thanks!

Worth a look, very good interesting Tabor city, Reformation & Hussite history. Most of the exhibits are in Czech. The tunnel tour is worth a look. Request an English tour and you might be lucky to get an English speaker. Otherwise they supply an information sheet in English. There are also lockable wine vats to place bags or backpacks in as well.

A good museum showing the history the Hussites and Tabor. There is a surprising amount in this museum and if you have an interest in the history of the Hussites, this is the place for you. There are quite detailed exhibits showing much of the history. Under the museum lies a series of tunnels that can be travelled through with a guide. However it is worth noting that the guide spoke only Czech and for someone who is not a Czech speaker, the tunnels might be less interesting, although still quite good.
David D — Google review
I thought it was wonderful. I was the only one on the tour, possibly because I came on a Wednesday morning in January when it was snowing. The underground tour is extensive, and I learned a lot about how people lived hundreds of years ago. On ground level, there is a museum dedicated to two Czech heroes: Jan Hus and Jan Ziska. You should learn about them.

Nestled on a prominent rock overlooking the Sazava River, Český Šternberk Castle is a Gothic and Baroque marvel dating back to the 13th century. It is still owned by the original family who built it nearly 800 years ago. The castle boasts well-preserved Gothic architecture with some later Baroque additions.
Beautiful and impressive place. The interiors very interesting and in a good shape. Visiting the castle is only possible with the guide who talks in Czech, but we got our leaflets with all info in Polish. The tour takes approx. 1 hour. On Sunday the tours were quite often so we didn't have to wait long for the next one. You have to pay extra for the possibility to take pictures inside.

Extremely interesting location! Half an hour to drive from Prague. Good parking, 50 CZK (2 euro) (it is necessary to pay in the Castle when buying entrance tickets - 250 CZK - 10 euro). The castle belongs to one of the descendants of the Sternberg family. Inside you will see a lot of interesting things, rooms, furnitures - knight's hall, salon, chapel, ladies' salon, library (3500 copies of old books), dining room, office, hall, smoking room, bedroom, hunting salon. The tour takes about an hour in Czech. But there is a printed description in other languages, the description should be taken free of charge when buying tickets. In the courtyard of the castle is a nice restaurant with normal prices. Definitely recommend to anyone interested in medieval castles

Wasn’t able to catch a tour as we went in the evening in November and they closed at 2pm. However, this was a blessing, as we captured such an amazing sunset, and the gorgeous autumn colors of the forests around the castle were spectacular! There are walking trails all around, amazing views from the town below, and very few people around.
Quinton W — Google review
It may not be the most famous castle, but it is a genuine example of a working castle that is lived in by the same family that built the original part of the castle in 1241. The history in between was somewhat turbulent for the family, which makes for a fascinating story, and the visit was all the more memorable for that. I am glad I took the tour. Thanks to my tour guide, Maria.

A well maintained castle in a beautiful area. Very happy they offer English tours. Our guide was knowledgeable, shared a lot of information and was able to answer all our questions. She was very patient with us and had a warm personality. You can get a few refreshing drinks and snacks to enjoy in the court. Very good homemade lemonades. The prices are mostly fair, though they ask for a €2 camera license if you want to take pictures, which is absolutely silly.

The Konopiste Castle

The Konopiste Castle is a Baroque palace that was built over a medieval and Renaissance castle. It was once the home of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, an enigmatic figure who used it as his ideal country retreat. The castle is located amid extensive grounds 2km west of the town of Benesov and showcases the archduke's twin obsessions: hunting and St George.
Fantastic historic castle to visit about 45 minutes by train outside Prague and only €12 return. Still furnished and filled with military & hunting memorabilia as Archduke Franz Ferdinand had it just over 100 years ago. The coffee shop inside has some divine pastries as well.
Gary M — Google review
Visiting Konopiště Castle was absolutely wonderful. The interior tour was fascinating, with room after room full of history and interesting trinkets. There’s so much to see. I was especially surprised to see an elevator inside such an old castle. Just be aware: the tours are only available in Czech, however there's audio guides available in English, German, and some other languages. The on-site chocolate shop was a sweet surprise. The variety of chocolates was impressive, and everything I tried was absolutely delicious. I only wish I could have sampled them all! Sadly the rose garden was not yet in bloom during our visit, but I'm very sure it is a sight to be seen. The presence of so many peacocks wandering the grounds added a magical touch. A peaceful walk around the nearby lake was the perfect way to end the visit—calm, scenic, and incredibly relaxing. All in all, Konopiště Castle is a must see. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It blends rich history, natural beauty, and charming surprises.
V O — Google review
Fairy-tale like castle and adjacent grounds with 3 excellent tours; note that each is charged separately and there is an option to get an audio guide in English. During the Franz/Sophie private apartment tour you'll be able to see a set of truly touching drawings made by their daughter showing the alegory of the assassination - taking photos is forbidden and unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. There is also a temporary exibition of historical clothing of the nobility with an incredible guide.
Predrag M — Google review
A visit to Konopiště castle will bring you back in time to the beginning of the 20th century when it belonged to the heir to the Habsburg throne. He and his family lived in splendid seclusion oblivious to what the future holds for them. You have a choice from several tours out of which the one through the private chambers of the family is as close as you can get to the royals of that time.
Miroslav K — Google review
There are 4 tours at different hours. You need more time to see at least 2 of them. The castle is well maintained. have beautiful views. Also there are deers, peacocks and bear (that was somewhere inside). No photos allowed inside of this castle!

Visited the castle grounds on a weekend. Beautiful trails and amazing views. The grounds are free entry. Parking is 100 crowns whole day and very big!
Paula R — Google review
Wow! Just WOW! It's simply impossible to see everything in one tour. That's why there are 4 different routes for sightseeing tours. Unfortunately, we were only able to visit tour 2. But I haven't seen so many medieval weapons and everything else in a long time. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures inside. Come and see! You definitely won't regret it! Parking for a day costs 100 CZK, which is 4 euros. There are also many interesting things around the castle, such as a park, a rose garden, a mini zoo
Oleksandr P — Google review
Interesting castle in a beautiful location. You can see why Franz Ferdinand loved being there...shame he took so much of the local wildlife out! Seeing where Kaiser Wilheim & von Tirpitz stayed overnight was fascinating...same furniture, same wallpaper. I would recommend seeing this is the Spring or Summer...the rose gardens are meant to be beautiful & the Kaiser loved them. Going mid October meant the gardens weren't in bloom and you could tell is was closing for the season. I finished a tour at 3pm and the restaurant and cafe were already closed so I couldn't get a drink. The guides were so knowledgeable & friendly but the commentary on the audio guides should be more detailed. The Czech version was much longer for almost every room!! If you take the trsin from Prague & walk there, you get off at Benesov & wonder where is the castle?? The area is quite industrial. But go over the bridge, turn left, then right fork & it's a really beautiful walk right up to the back of the castle, through the forest. I intend to go again but in Summer & I will take drinks this time!!

The first impression of any business are its employees. Not all of us speak Czech, so we asked the host to tell us the rules in English and her answer was just NO. I would maybe understand if she said I am sorry I don't speak English or tried to find help or use google translate or anything really, but her answer was just plane NO. Fortunately we had people in our team who understood some Czech. Just wondering what would happened if we didn't have a native speaker in our team. She was so eager to tell the rules as fast as possible and to go back to her post. As for the games we spent around 4 hours playing and still it wasn't enough to finish everything. There were so many games, some of them very physical and not so easy, so you would need more then few atempts

Took a group of 40 students here. The staff just didn't seem to care, they gave us written instructions and walked away. The lunch selections were poor, and they expected the students to serve themselves, not very realistic! Teachers ended up serving the food. There was never any communication from the staff to the students about who had won, or any follow up to the game itself. Long way to go for nothing too interesting
Peter W — Google review
Great experience, everything in the park was in English, the rooms varied so it was never boring. It gave us a lot of adrenaline, I recommend this adventure
Maria M — Google review
Great experience, many challenging rooms, and each requiring little different set of skills. We had a lot of fun during competing the other teams. It was worth the travel to the quite detached location. Only issue was that we didn't fully understood the rules before the game and had to repeat the first room several times before understanding how to correctly initiate the game and how to finish. So learn all before not to loose time as the game is paid by play time. Recommended.

Museums
The Museum of Communism, situated in Prague's New Town, offers a comprehensive insight into the Czech Republic's communist era from 1948 to 1989. The museum features original artifacts, multimedia displays, propaganda posters, and historical documents that vividly depict life under the Communist regime. Visitors can explore reconstructed rooms like a school classroom and shop while learning about both the positive and negative aspects of the system.
A powerful and eye-opening experience. The Museum of Communism offers a detailed and honest look into life under the regime, with real stories, artifacts, and visuals that bring history to life. It’s well-organized, informative, and thought-provoking — I left with a much deeper understanding of what people lived through during that era. There was no wait to enter, and I don’t think tickets need to be booked in advance. Make sure to stop by the gift shop — it’s definitely worth a visit, with unique items and well-curated books that complement the experience perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Prague and interested in history or politics.

Going to this museum was the best decision I made in my trip to Prague. If you are into history of countries you have to go there! I spent almost 4 hours here reading every detail. It’s perfect that they are showing the history of communism from the very beginning in Czechoslovakia and continue it as an engaging timeline. The tickets are super cheap comparing to insane tickets across Europe to get inside a church for 30-40€. As a student I only paid 290 CZK. I also liked the design of the museum from the darkness of communism to the bright side of Prague spring and the velvet revolution. Highly recommended🤞🏻💯
Behnam — Google review
This is a really well done and informative history of eastern European communism, especially where it relates to the former Czechoslovakia. Very sobering and pretty heart-rending at times but balanced out by the tongue-in-cheek tone of the gift shop! You could fly round it in maybe 45 mins just focusing on the excellent exhibits e.g. example classrooms, apartments, offices, even motorbikes or you could take your time reading it all and it could easily take a couple of hours. All in all , would definitely recommend it if you're interested in the era.
Graham A — Google review
I'm personally very interested in this time frame and despotic regimes so this museum was fascinating. Yes, this museum is criticizing the communist regime and is not impartial. However, it is presenting all the aspects of the Czechoslovakian society before, during and after the communist regime with a lot of details so your analyze and personal feelings will make the right opinion:) Last but not least: I really enjoy humour based on politics, so the goodies were enjoyable

Concerts & Shows
Obecní Dům, also known as Municipal House, is a stunning art nouveau venue in the heart of Prague. This architectural gem took seven years to build and now stands as one of the most beautiful buildings in the Czech Republic. It boasts a 2,000-seat concert hall, salons, offices, and restaurants adorned with lavish decorative work. The venue hosts classical concerts, opera, ballet performances, and various events like fashion shows.
Art nouveau & Empire blend interior design beautifully executed. The guide did a great job of taking us through the details (and keeping the large group together). If your interest has been piqued by any of the pictures, I would highly recommend you attend. Most of the ground floor is occupied by concessions, so you can take a look there too if you're discrete (or need of a lot of refreshment).

This is a "must-do". My husband and I just loved it. I think it is one of the most beautiful interiors in all of the Czech Republic. Our tour guide was excellent. Her love for her country and being proud of her Czech culture enhanced the tour. The English tours especially book up quickly so make this an early stop so you can see what days and times are available. The times vary depending on the day of the week.

We have seen the building before but joined the tour for the first time this time. It was really worth it. All the rooms have amazing decorations and I especially liked the concert hall and mayor’s hall with Mucha’s paintings. The tour was also very helpful to learn about the history of the building.

I had the pleasure of attending a Prague Music Orchestra concert here, and it was a beautiful experience from start to finish. The architecture of the hall itself is stunning — elegant, historic, and designed in a way that makes the music feel alive. The details in the interior reflect the city’s artistic heritage, and the acoustics allow every note to resonate clearly. It’s one of those places where the space becomes part of the performance. The music program was thoughtfully curated, moving from Mozart’s joyful Eine kleine Nachtmusik to the lyrical Largo of Dvořák’s New World Symphony. Each piece felt perfectly suited to the venue. The orchestra performed with passion and precision, and their interpretation captured both the grandeur of the classics and the intimacy of chamber music. A must-visit for anyone who loves music and architecture. The combination of setting and sound makes this concert hall an unforgettable cultural experience in Prague.

The municipal house is from from the first years of the 20th century. Beautiful building built in Art Nouveau style. The building has a rich history: the palace of the Bohemian kings used to be here, but it was abandonded centuries ago and demolisehd to make way for the municipal house. The czhechoslovakian independence declaration was made here after WWI. Inside is a famous concert hall

Easy one of the most beautiful places in Prague. Here the Czechoslovak republic was founded in 1918. Beautiful rooms in different styles, I enjoyed every single one. Yes, the entrance ticket is a little bit on a pricy side but it is definitely worth it

A beautiful art deco building, with lovely restaurants and bars. We went downstairs to Tretters American cocktail bar, and what a fantastic place! Watching the 2 bar tenders making all the drinks was great. Amazing staff, amazing drinks. And actually not expensive. Highly recommend going here for a cocktail or 4!

The building and the atmosphere was great. The musicians and the opera singers were amazing. But the ballet dancers it says that the soloists will be from the National Opera but they were very very bad. They are probably a good distraction and good for advertising the concert to say that there are also ballet dancers included but honestly the musicians and the opera singers were more than enough. Despite the dancers everything was great. Tip: even if they offer you place to the side it is never a good idea. Choose middle seats (even if they are further away from the stage, they always are the better option)

Old Town Square, located in the heart of Prague, is a historic and picturesque square with origins dating back to the 10th century. This UNESCO-listed site has retained its medieval charm and serves as a hub for visitors seeking to immerse themselves in the city's rich history and vibrant atmosphere. The square is adorned with an array of architectural marvels, including Gothic buildings like the Old Town Hall and the iconic Prague Astronomical Clock.
The Old Town Square is one of the most beautiful and lively places in Prague. Surrounded by stunning architecture, historic buildings, and vibrant street life, it’s the perfect spot to feel the heart of the city. There are great cafés, restaurants, and street performers adding to the atmosphere. It can get extremely crowded, especially during weekends and holidays, but that’s part of its charm. It’s a must-visit and one of the most iconic spots in Prague!
Jaguraov — Google review
Took these photo during my trip to Prague from Vienna in 2022 Mid Dec. Walking from the train station to old town square before reaching the castle. Quite an eye opening as walking from train station to the castle lets you experience many of the old historical buildings. Nice place to visit. History: Prague's Old Town Square, or Staroměstské náměstí, has served as the city's main public gathering space since the 10th century. Surrounded by historic architecture spanning multiple periods
BahnooKT — Google review
The main square of the city and probably biggest and most visited sight in the whole city. A large square surrounded by medieval buildings, of which the most famous are the old town hall and the church of the madonna. Absolutely fabulous and a must visit place, which of course has it's drawbacks: it is extremely packed with tourists.
Henri ( — Google review
Amazing square, a must go in Prague! Beautiful everywhere you look. It is usually packed with tourists so I’d recommend going in the morning and spending at least 30 minutes soaking in the vibe
Rodrigo C — Google review
This square in Prague has delightful architecture to see. It also has the famous Astronomical Clock. There are many restaurants with outdoor places to sit and eat. You can go to the top of the Old Town Hall by walking up many steps or purchasing an elevator ticket. Here you will see great views of the surrounding areas from up there.

The Old Town Square is definitely the kind of place where you get an incredible view no matter what coordinate you stand on or which way you look. It’s always packed with tourists (even when it was pouring rain!), but Prague, Czech Republic, is one of those cities that just instantly lifts your spirits and makes you feel happy. If you’re lucky, you might even spot two giant dogs, just like the ones in the picture. (They are seriously a sight to behold in real life!) I wonder what breed those dogs are? Anyway, I don't think I'll ever forget this square—it’s the hub where so many famous landmarks meet. Prague, you're totally stuck in my memory!
Jeonghak R — Google review
One of the oldest parts of the city is the heart of medieval Prague. The most significant square of historical Prague, founded in the 12th century, has witnessed many historical events. In addition to the Old Town Hall and the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the square is dominated by the Baroque Church of St. Nicholas, the Rococo Kinsky Palace, the Gothic House at the Stone Bell and the Jan Hus Monument. On the pavement of the square there are memorial stones commemorating the execution of 27 Czech lords in 1621 and the Prague Meridian. Perhaps the most beautiful square in the whole city. Gothic houses and churches; cobblestone streets and squares; stone towers create an amazing historical atmosphere. And all kinds of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, shops of international brands, galleries and hotels give energy to the old city, presenting its modern face.
Witold D — Google review
The most beautiful and historical centre of Prague! The astronomical clock, St. Nicholas church, church of our lady and other historical buildings are located around the square. The Old Town Square remains a vibrant place with many pavement cafes and restaurants, frequent concerts in the churches, street performances, and seasonal markets like Christmas and Easter markets.

The Jewish Museum in Prague, established in 1906, is a vital part of the city's history. It provides a comprehensive insight into the Jewish life and traditions spanning centuries. The museum's collection includes treasures, old buildings, artifacts, documents, and exhibits that narrate the story of Jewish history and culture in Prague. Visitors can explore six synagogues with beautiful architecture and a Jewish cemetery as they delve into the significant Jewish presence in the city.
The Jewish quarter in Prague is rich in culture, art, architecture and very beautiful buildings. This is one of the places I wouldn't miss on my next visit to Prague
Ranny B — Google review
The ticket for around €20 gets you a 3 day pass to so many of the historic synagogues and museums, which were extremely informative and at times incredibly moving. Me and my friend were blown away ❤️
Katia B — Google review
A truly moving place that once again evokes deep reflection on humanity. The indoor exhibition space was surprisingly small, but the visit concludes outdoors, exiting through a thought-provoking cemetery that leaves a lasting impression.
Kai K — Google review
A tour of the Jewish quarter. It's about 890kc so not inexpensive. Arrive at 0900 and go straight to the cemetery area. Visit the outside areas later. Ticket valid 3 days. Because of security arriving later can mean joining a very very long queue. The tour itself is emotional. The Spanish synagogue is the artistic highlight. The Maisel Synagogue for history. The cemetery area for tears. Do visit the outside exhibition for harrowing historical photos.
Justin L — Google review
Lots of history. Very well organized. You get a lot for the price you pay for a ticket (6 sites).

Had to wait quite awhile to enter the Pinkas Synagogue and the old Cemetery. Worth it.

A moving experience stepping back in time and learning about the Jewish history of the city - including the 80.000 names written by hand of those who perished during the Holocaust. I also recommend doing a walking tour of the Jewish quarter. Fascinating!

Located in Prague's Jewish Quarter, the Spanish Synagogue is a stunning Moorish-style place of worship that now serves as a venue for exhibits and concerts. Despite being one of the newer synagogues in Prague, it was actually completed in 1868 on the site of a 12th-century synagogue. The interior boasts opulent golden decor and hosts permanent exhibitions on Jewish history in Bohemian lands and silver artifacts.
Of all the Jewish memorial sites in the city, this is, in my opinion, the most beautiful and impressive. The place is of course currently used as a museum and not as a synagogue. You can purchase a dedicated ticket just for this museum or a combined ticket (more affordable) that includes all the sites of Jewish heritage in the city's Jewish Quarter.
Eddy T — Google review
A synagogue you MUST visit when in Prague. When I discovered this synagogue, I knew I had to visit. Religious purposes aside, the architecture alone is one to be admired. I visited recently in Sept 2025, the side of the synagogue is like one of a Spanish Villa and then you enter from the front entrance which is unassuming. However once you are inside, you will pause, gasp, or say wow in awe because of the stunning interior inside the synagogue. There isn't anything quite like it. From the altar, aside from this, the walls and ceilings are adorned with intricate patterns. It is like stepping into a religious kaleidoscope. I was blown away. There is so much to look at, attention to detail as well as exhibits on the edges in regards to the Jewish community who resided in Prague during WW2 era. You are able to go upstairs as well to get a different vantage point and the exhibit continues. There is plenty to read, many old memorabilia items in terms of clothing, the famous star of "Jude" which Jewish people were made to wear to identify themselves, old pictures and much more... sometimes it is overwhelming how much history there is. It is a lot to take in. The Spanish synagogue is an architectural gem. Ornate, colourful, unique. A once in a lifetime visit that will leave a lasting impression on you. There is a gift shop whereby you can buy souvenirs such as postcards, keyrings and more.... Toilets are available which is useful as a tourist when going around. Keep in mind upon entry, you will be ask to go through airport style security and have your bag search for safety purposes. Men may be required to adorn a Kippah cap whilst inside the Synagogue.
Joanna F — Google review
We were at the Spanish Synagogue for a classical concert, by Jewish composers! A brilliant concert in such a lovely synagogue! The facade on the ceiling was simply astonishing. It was really beautiful, and a pity that I didn't explore the place earlier. But definitely worth visiting and viewing the beauty of the place.

Amazing place! Very beautiful synagogue and museum telling about the Jewish community of Prague in different eras.
Witold D — Google review
Beautiful!! Absolutely beautiful. I would recommend getting the tickets to view all that are connected within the jewish quarters because they all hold such a timeless piece of history and culture. This particular building was so beautiful and when going upstairs and reading about the history really did make me emotional. I know the tickets are on the pricier side around 25 pounds per person but thats so many buildings and the cemetery included and I think its worth it 1000%, the price of tickets in my eyes helps keep the history alive. I would happily pay more than that after visiting, as I happily donated money to each building I visited. There's things there that dont really get taught in british schools that I wasn't aware of and it really makes you think deeply into what happened and what in some places is still happening today! 100% recommend visiting when you get the chance.
Kate — Google review
Nice jewish synagogue. There are 5 locations in total. Yoy have to buy the ticket for all of them. They won't sell yoy a ticket just for an individual location.
Angel M — Google review
We didn't enter, because there's a pay wall. While this might nothing out of the ordinary, the price is quite hefty, about 24 euros per person! And of course there's no information outside, but only after a extensive security check. You can only buy a ticket for 3 days, enabling you to visit the others (less attractive) synagogues of Prague, even excluding the Jerusalem Synagogue, where you can buy a single ticket for a fraction of the price.

Mirakulum completely blew me away. Truly a fantastic experience for all ages. Everything inside is included in the entry fee and no extra charges, which is rare these days. The ŠKODA Muzeum is a museum located in a renovated production plant that showcases the history of the famous Czech auto brand through classic cars. It is an ideal destination for anyone interested in learning about Czech auto history as it offers an informative tour with knowledgeable guides. The admission rates are reasonable and there is a gift area for auto enthusiasts. In addition to the main museum, visitors can also request to see the depositary where raw gems are kept in a separate building.
Incredible experience. My partner arranged me an English speaking guided tour, and the tour guide was fantastic. Really informative and interesting. Explained the history to me which was fascinating. My highlight was the race car section upstairs. Coffee shop was great too. A must visit if you’re near Prague

Nice museum showing good insight into Skoda as one of the most innovative companies of the CEE region! All exhibits are described in Czech, German and English. There is also a artistic display of key moments and personalities i Czech history upstairs. Definitely ask about sports and prototypes exhibiton. Plus a good Restaurant / Cafe Vaclav on the spot.

Great museum with meticulously restored cars dating back to the beginning of 20th century. I was surprised by the variety of models Skoda produced over its history. Sport and prototypes depository is a must visit (included in museum entry ticket).
Vitaly I — Google review
It's cool to see the company history and all the different cars/bikes but it is a very limited museum. There is another guided tour you can book in advance which might be more engaging
Jonny H — Google review
As a Skoda fan I really enjoyed the museum. Due to a ticket problem, I was hugely disappointed to not be able to tour the factory. I have six Skoda's and about to buy a seventh, but nothing helped with my appeal for entry.
Ray K — Google review
Absolutely brilliant if you're into cars and Czech history - this place delivers on both fronts. The collection traces Skoda's journey from the early days to modern engineering, and it's genuinely fascinating how much innovation came out of this company. You get a real sense of Czech industrial pride and resilience through the decades. IMPORTANT: Book the factory tour at least 3 weeks in advance - it's worth it. You'll see current production, learn about future models, and get the full story from past to present. The museum alone is great, but the factory tour takes it to another level. Even if you're not a car person, the historical context and Czech culture woven throughout makes it compelling. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Chateau Melnik

Manor house
Sights & Landmarks
Hilltop castle with grand rooms, a collection of 17th-century maps, a winery & scenic restaurant.
The place has an unmistakable spirit. Drahomira's (mother of St.Wenceslaus) supposed place of origin offers spectacular views towards Prague, hill of Rip and obviously the nearby spot where rivers of Moldau an Elbe blend. Enjoy the castle and the spectacular diagonal lane to the river. 9
Petr L — Google review
The lady who manages the castle visits called us from outside and asked us if we wanted to visit the castle (she only knew two words of English, so communicating was difficult), after paying for the tickets (she only accepts cash) she shows us the stairs and gives us a flyer with some information on the (few) rooms of the castle. In one of the first rooms we meet a group of visitors with a guide who spoke Czech, the room was very small so we tried to reach the next one but got yelled at by the lady, she does not speak English and continues to speak in her language towards us, we try to explain to her that we don't understand a single thing she is saying but she continues to shake her head, in the end one of the visitors knew some English and told us that we couldn’t visit the castle without a guide to supervise us, so we were forced to stay in these small rooms with a group of twenty people listening to a guide who didn't speak our language, there is nothing more stupid... it was not possible to take photos and there are only seven rooms (and they don't even look like royal rooms, you can see that the rooms have been renovated several times in recent years), the city is nice for a walk but being not very touristy, even the locals are not predisposed to foreigners.

The Czech Republic 🇨🇿 has not only a reputation as a beer 🍺 country. The Elbe Lowland is one of the most northern wine 🍇 regions in Europe. The traditional stone terraces on the southwestern bank of the river Elbe create the perfect micro climate for winegrowing.🏞 The grapes are processed in a way to become lively, reductive, light wines with a typical bloomy and fruity varietal aroma. 💐 Take a tour to Melnik, a city situated about half hour drive north of Prague. Your celler master takes you through 14th century wine cellar and offers you local wines to taste🍷🥂, accompanied by freshly baked local bread as well as cheese and other snacks.🥖🧀👍

Fully renovated medieval sandstone castle in a forest, with tours of the palace, tower & ramparts.
A great place for a walk with children. The castle has a three-story palace not overloaded with paintings, gold and furniture. But there are paths along the fortress wall, spiral staircases and a large tower with a beautiful view of the neighboring hills. There is also a trekking trail from the castle to a point on the highway, from which a beautiful view of the castle opens.

A very cool castle to visit. You can see most of the castle for free, but have to pay to go inside the building and up the tower. There is a steep flight of stairs to climb from the parking lot. Amazing views from up the walls and they provide guides to read in English.

Castle Kokořín is a charming Gothic castle located about 40 kilometers north of Prague, in the Kokořínsko Nature Reserve It was originally built in the early 14th century and stands atop a sandstone cliff, offering scenic views of the surrounding forested area. Kokořín Castle is known for its distinctive round tower and well-preserved medieval architecture. The castle fell into disrepair after the Thirty Years' War and was left neglected for centuries until it was restored in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by the Špaček family Visitors can explore the castle's interiors, including the tower, which offers panoramic views of the beautiful Kokořínsko landscape. The area is popular for hiking, with many trails leading to rock formations and valleys nearby. While it may not be as grand as some other Czech castles, Kokořín's fairytale-like setting and tranquil atmosphere make it a worthwhile visit, especially for nature lovers and history enthusiasts It's a peaceful and picturesque day trip from Prague, perfect for those looking to escape the city's bustle and enjoy the Czech countryside.

Pravčická Archway

Pravčická Archway, a stunning natural sandstone formation, is a popular scenic site that requires a 5km uphill walk from the paid parking or bus stop. The entrance fee is around 4 EUR and credit cards are accepted. The area offers good amenities and breathtaking views, making it perfect for a sunny day excursion. However, it may not be ideal during windy or rainy weather due to its exposed location.
We recommend visiting here if you are around. Since we spent a night in Hřensko, we just parked our car at the hotel in town and continued walking from there. You can also take a bus or drive a bit further to reduce the walking distance. The path to the top is quite well-organized and well-maintained. Once you turn off from the main road, you’ll really feel how beautiful and impressive those rock walls are. It’s sad to see the damage from the fire a few years back, but it doesn’t reduce the impressiveness. I recommend wearing hiking shoes or good sneakers, as some parts of the path can be a bit slippery on rainy days. When you reach the Archway, there’s a small entrance fee, which likely contributes to maintaining the area. There are also clean toilets, which is really convenient. Before you sit and rest at the restaurant, I’d suggest hiking a bit further to the viewpoint so you can see the Archway from above with beautiful scenery all around. Just be a bit careful — it’s a bit steep and the wind can be quite strong up there. After soaking in the views, feel free to head down and relax with a drink and cake — a small reward for the achievement you made today. Don’t forget to bring your trash back down. I know many people can’t stop smoking, and I don’t mind as it’s your choice, but please don’t throw cigarette butts along the way. It’s not that hard to take even the small trash down so we can help save this area for the next generations. 🙏🏽

Great place to hiking, on website was mentioned that all roads are expert, but as I feel you can go even with kids. One minus, if you want to sit on the top in restaurant you need to pay for entrance, I think it strange decision , as you will pay for food and drinks. Queue for tickets in weekend 15-25 min

In a stunning location amazing place for those who like hiking. It is quite steep in places but the path is beautifully done so everyone can do it. The hike took about 1.5 hours to get to the most incredible natural arch I have ever seen and it is worth to get exhausted on the way. The award on the top is fantastic, lovely restaurant and magnificent views. Access to the final part is restricted by times so it is worth to check out before trip to avoid disappointment and also you have to pay for it but cost is not expensive. Car park available on the bottom in the nearest town.
Agart P — Google review
Truly amazing natural formation. The walk is a bit far from the bottom but manageable. Bring comfortable shoes, open toe are not recommended, there's a lot of loose gravel, sand, and boulders. Once at the top the cost at the main door is 125 kc, but online you can pay 50 kc. Definitely recommended. Walk along the outside edge of the archway and get some great pictures.
Marcus S — Google review
We had an extremely interesting hiking experience, saw incredible landscapes and beauties. You have to see it with your own eyes. Parking for a car costs 12 euros. It takes from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to climb up, depending on your physical condition. Entrance to the most interesting places on the mountain costs 5 euros. The road from Prague by car is about 2 hours. Interesting, beautiful, you will not regret it

Well… even just being here means surrendering yourself to the genius loci of this world-class natural wonder! The hike begins at Hřensko, with a well-marked trail leading you upward. There’s ample parking available at the base, but it fills up quickly—so it's best to arrive early. The trail is fairly steep in places, so wearing proper hiking shoes and carrying enough water is highly recommended, especially if you're visiting on a warm day. Once you reach the top, there’s a small entrance fee. At the summit, you will find a cafe, a kiosk, clean restrooms and an information center where you can purchase souvenirs. Note that the kiosk and souvenir shop accept cash only, so be sure to bring some with you. The panoramic views from the top are absolutely breathtaking - perfect for taking a break and soaking in the scenery.

Pravčická Gate, located in Bohemian Switzerland National Park, is the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe and a true geological wonder. The hike to reach it is scenic and well-marked, starting typically from the village of Hřensko (Paid parking, in high season there may not be enough spaces). The site can get crowded in peak season, and there's a small entrance fee. Easy route, for people of all ages.
