This spot is marked by a monument that symbolizes the friendship and harmony between these nations. The area seamlessly accommodates pedestrians and cyclists, promoting cross-border exploration and fostering friendships.
This place is stunning. It’s huge with a lot of seating. The outdoor sitting looks so good. Almost like a beach. You are literally at the border of threes countries. Very picture worthy
Cindy D — Google review
We walked down the riverside path past all of the bars and restaurants which had been set up in the industrial part of the city to reach the monument which signifies the meeting of three European countries at this point of the river. There is a silver monument on the bank which illustrates the direct of France and Germany from Switzerland.
Ben S — Google review
Quite an interesting place where Switzerland, France and Germany meet. There a few photo-points and a bit of information about the area. There's a little shopping centre towards the German side, a lovely bridge that leads between the German and French borders and there is some parking nearby.
A K — Google review
It is a riverside walk along an industrial area to the actual triangle. It was a pleasant walk in the sunshine. Basically it's a photo opportunity to "prove " you've visited 3 countries in one day!
Evelyn L — Google review
Ok if you are interested in seeing the point 3 countries meet. Not within walking distance of the town but it did have car parking. It is in a working harbour so there are a lot of trucks.
Margo R — Google review
It's an okay spot. I feel like they could have made this place better. There's a restaurant upstairs which is nice. But getting there was a bit sketchy. There are a few parking spots - paid parking.
Neha W — Google review
Lonely place. It seems that this place is not quite touristy as it was not crowded. However, this makes it very good for pictures!
Priyanka F — Google review
it was raining when we went there. its quicker to get there by ferry thru germany. we went there around 6 or 7pm, there were no more ferries available then, so we had to walk around thru the port. It was approx a 15-20min walk from the last stop in Basel. We missed our stop and ended up in Germany. Make sure to bring your passport with you as they do random border checks. The Triangle could use some upgrade or maintenance care. Maybe they could put a stall at the Basel part of triangle where you can get a 5 page "Border Triangle Passport" and have it stamped "Germany", "France", "Switzerland".And, at the last page of the passport is written "I have been to 3 countries in _____ seconds." Then you fill it in with the time you were able to ran around The Triangle. I think that would be an awesome souvenir.😊👌 Whoever will start this business, please credit me to it ...and you are welcome. 😂

Le Paradis des Sources

Dinner theater
Concerts & Shows
Family like atmosphere, excellent food and a great show
Iuliia B — Google review
I was very excited to see a true french cabaret performance. However, it really is a feeria show and just cancan. Loved the singer and entertainers, just a bit bummed out that the show starts very late, at 10:30pm, and past midnight I was already falling asleep because the show is very long ! It was also very hot, no ventilation or air conditioning. I felt bad for performers because they do an amazing job ! I also felt that few dances like the "beach" and "pirates" performances while fun, didn't really mix well with the whole aesthetic of the show, especially after really seductive dances. May be making the show earlier and a bit shorter would actually be a good idea. Overalls I recommend it, and was very surprised to find such entertainment in the afrench countryside

Located in Plainfaing, the Confiserie Des Hautes Vosges is a delightful destination for those with a sweet tooth. The colorful array of candies and diverse flavors are sure to please your taste buds. Additionally, if you're traveling with family and nature enthusiasts, consider visiting Lake Blanc for activities like swimming and sailing. For those who enjoy outdoor adventures, exploring the surrounding area of Epinal on foot or by bike is also an option.
This is a nice spot to discover how candy is made. Good explanation in French. You can buy candy in the small shop, not so cheap. Interesting.
Martin D — Google review
We came across this place by accident, but is really nice to spend some time here! Entrance is free and it is cool to see how the sweets are made. Personnel is eager to let you taste anything you see. After the visit you can enter the shop (it will take you some time). Can highly recommend!

French candy fairytale 🍭 As french, as it can be. It seems only french people know this place, so the staff is extra nice to foreigners. But most probably they are nice to evebody. Well worth a detour through wonderful Vosges forest.

There's a wonderful tour that shows how their candy is made. They will also give out taste samples of any of their amazing flavors. Gift sets and candy tins too.

❤️ Sympathetic and professional staff. Well organized visits. Well situated, quite visible from the main road. Suitable for wandering. 🤔 Sugar consuming may be a problem to certain people. Replacing it with agave, stevia or maple syrup might be taken in consideration. Thank you for the moment.
My M — Google review
Great place for kids and adults for an afternoon visit and such nice staff
Pierrick B — Google review
Really nice mini-trip or stop along a road trip. If you want a tour of the factory, you can just walk in without an appointment and get a free tour (which, honestly, I couldn't believe in this day and age)! The staff were hesitant to do the tour in English because they felt their English wasn't good enough, but it was honestly very good (better than some non-native speakers who claim to speak English very well). The tour is long enough to not feel like a lure to get you into the gift shop, and not so long that you get over-saturated with info. Absolute recommendation!

The Musée National de l'Automobile, also known as the Cité de l'Automobile or the Mulhouse Car Museum, is a vast complex that houses over 500 classic, prestige, and racing cars. It is considered the largest car museum in the world. The museum showcases the history of automobiles from their inception in the late 19th century to present day.
What a place! Totally didn't expect it to be quite this big or have as many cars and exhibits!! It is well worth the entrance fee and the exhibits are laid out really well. It has around 500 cars and 120 Bugatti's on display! The restaurant is great too and decent value. If you are in the area, visit and spend the afternoon seeing some great cars!
Alasdair M — Google review
If you’re a fan of classic cars, this museum is a mustsee. The collection is vast and seems endless, with many beautifully preserved vintage models. During my visit, there was also a special Tintin exhibition, which made it even more enjoyable.
Izem M — Google review
This was a quick day trip for us while staying in Basel. Amazing collection of automotive history and well worth spending a few hours to explore. The collection of cars from the Tintin books was very cool, particularly if you're a Tintin fan like me!
Kenneth C — Google review
DEFINITELY A MUST if you're in Mulhouse area, east France. The fact that Musée National de l'Automobile has an collection of more than 400+ cars ranging from more than 100 years ago, is amazing itself. Not to mention they have probably the world most complete collection of Bugatti, like almost a hundred of them. And one of them in the Masterpiece area, the 1936 50T Cabriolet, is now the world most expensive vehicle, worth 100M Euro !!! The details of it, and the idea of building a luxury car back to almost 100 years ago, is really highly admired.
Bill L — Google review
One of the best car museums i’ve ever been. It’s really worth every penny you’re paying for it. Tons of great, rare and unique pieces you will find there. Nice location, brilliant realisation. All cars are in good condition, and like in any other real museum, you can smell oil, gasoline and old leather from them. If you have kids or you just unbelievably love cars, you’ll be happy there
Igor G — Google review
Millions of dollars worth of cars, and they couldn’t get a decent translator for the placards? Honestly it became kind of amusing just how bad the English translations were after a while. The cars are stunning, there is no denying that. Arguably the most complete collection of vintage Bugattis in the world (but surprisingly no modern ones - no Chiron, EB110, not even a Veyron? Maybe they’re locked away somewhere else) 1/4 of the cars in the main hall were covered in white drapes due to construction. To the contractors/ museum officials, I say to you: “ plastic sheeting comes in transparent forms”. Overall a vanity project of a (now dead) rich white guy but there’s some stellar automotive and racing history laid out in these rooms. You’re in Mulhouse, you’re likely gonna go.
Greg M — Google review
Quite possibly one of the greatest car collections in the world. The outside is Beautifully presented... Upon entering the building you have no idea of how overwhelming this place can be. As you begin walking around and seeing a few cars you get lulled into it being a normal museum.... But then you walk into the room with a few Bugattis... You keep walking and seeing more Bugattis... Then you realise, one whole side is just Bugattis 🤯 Then you see the Bugatti Royale.. and realise hold on the have two Bugatti Royales 🤯 .. This place is crazy the sheer number of Bugattis and special cars is crazy... Then the story of the Schlumpf brothers ... Simply put, if you are a car lover you must come here... It's epic.. The shock value never diminishes even after multiple trips
RR C — Google review
One of the best car collections I have seen. From old to new and some extremely rare peices. We spent about 3 hours in here. There were lots of other things inside to keep children entertained too. There was a section all about Tintin which showed the different books and the cars linked to it which was nice. There was a driving simulator, small ride on cars and a vr F1 experience.

Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park is a park that combines both botanical garden and zoo in its beautifully landscaped grounds. The park plays host to a variety of wild animals such as tigers, lemur, polar bear among others. One interesting feature of the zoo is the Australian outback habitat which houses kangaroos.
Beautifully kept and maintained gardens and zoo. Animals were looked after really well, and we had a great time. There are facilities on site such as toilets, food and drink outlets and a gift shop. They are currently building a new Africa section which looks like it will be incredible! Great value for money and amazing to see endangered species being conserved.
Georgia D — Google review
Nice Zoo with happy and clean animals. Unfortunately, this time half of the park was on reconstruction and some other animals were hiding. Another thing I didn't get is why there is some garbage in the polar bear's pool?
Valeri E — Google review
It took me 4 hours to see everything. However, I was there mid september, so a lot of the flowers died off. So, it would have taken me longer, had I arrived in spring or summer. Well worth the entrance fee.
Dino P — Google review
Due to the weather being gloomy and cold, we couldn't see a lot of the animals. Because of construction and cleaning, only the toilet at the entrance was available, which was such a hassle as we didn't know about it. My favourite part of the visit was the Petits Amazon and seeing the cutest little beings.
Anne M — Google review
The Zoo is in the process of reconstructing the African section, so some areas are not accessible, but it's still a MUST see in Mulhouse. It houses several animals in extreme danger of extinction, and performs solid scientific studies and helps in their preservation. Among the rarest the Panthera Nebulosa and the Amur Leopard are magnificent examples. The Sea Lions, the Red Panda, the meerkats, the Polar bears.... Indeed a small and very interesting Zoo.
Hector G — Google review
Amazing zoo and botanical garden, not big, but some rare animals, and nice pace, good for walks, I would love come again

Hi, We visited on Sunday, so it wasn't crowded. But it was raining, so most of the animals were hiding. Apart from that it was Nice. 1) Buy your before coming to avoid queuing. 2)Most sure the weather is great to be able to see all the animals. 3)To avoid people go on Sunday. Bonus point: the parking is free.
Fatai A — Google review
A wonderful experience! The park is beautifully maintained, with a great mix of fascinating animals and lush botanical gardens. It’s perfect for families, nature lovers, or anyone looking for a relaxing and educational day out. The enclosures are spacious and thoughtfully designed, and you can really see the care for conservation. Ticket prices were reduced due to some renovation works, which was a nice bonus. Highly recommend a visit!

Cité du Train is a modern museum dedicated to the history of trains and railways, featuring an extensive collection of rolling stock and audiovisual exhibitions. It is renowned as the largest railway museum globally, with three main exhibits showcasing the evolution of rail travel through different eras. The museum's comprehensive scope has expanded over the years, including notable additions such as the famous TGV-Atlantique #325, which set a speed record in the early 1990s.
Definitely one of the great Train Museums of the World. Apart from the normal for Europe rolling stock, they even have three American made Locomotives. A MUST see if you're interested in History and Technology. Kid friendly, they have two kid rides.
Hector G — Google review
If you are a train fan, reserve 3-4 hours of your time to see everything. For everyone else: at least 2 hours to just walk the whole thing. Fantastic collection, large and diverse. Great for all ages; there are educational sections, too, to learn how trains work. Entrance was 16 EUR, which, in my opinion, is absolutely reasonable for the content you are getting. There is a local restaurant on site where you can eat for 15-20 EUR per adult, drinks included. Very easy access by public transport: 20-minute tram ride + 450-meter walk.
Alexey F — Google review

If you like trains and history it's really worth it. I think you can spend 2.5-3 hrs easily with a normal speed of going around and see everything.
Zsolt J — Google review
Nice railway museum with lots of examples of former trains (including various record-breaking locomotives and TGV trains!). There’s a gift shop and restaurant. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Rob ( — Google review
Visiting this museum truly felt like an authentic journey back in time. The sheer variety of the trains on display was incredibly impressive; I honestly never imagined that locomotives and passenger cars could be so stunningly beautiful. I was especially fascinated to learn about the most luxurious 'apartment trains,' which were essentially rolling homes complete with sleeping rooms, dining cars, showers, and even private cabinets. It was a genuine surprise to see how many domestic comforts were available on the rails, historically and perhaps even today. What truly sets this museum apart is its immersive organization. It’s not just a static collection of old trains, but a thoughtful presentation of a specific historical era. The museum does an excellent job of creating the atmosphere of the past by installing various figures to simulate scenes of travel and daily life. While I would agree that the figures themselves weren't always aesthetically perfect, the recreated scenes and detailed environments successfully brought the history to life, offering a powerful sense of context and time.
Alona K — Google review
As descripted, one of biggest railway museum. Collection mapping mainly french rail history, wich is luckily also world history. Interesantly and complexive. I mean here is possibly everything (about french history in any case) , exept Andre Chapelon´s SNCF 240P class (some other is). For me is it Must see!

Lac de Gérardmer, a picturesque 1.2-square-kilometer glacial lake nestled amidst mountains, offers a range of activities for visitors. From fishing and swimming to boating and winter ice skating, there's something for everyone. Families can enjoy picnics by the clean and blue waters or rent pedal boats for leisurely exploration. The surrounding area features shady spots with picnic tables, a nearby playground suitable for all ages, and even a casino for entertainment.
Beautiful lake where you can swim and do camping, a beautiful village with a lot of hotels , restaurants and shops located in les Vosges .

Scenic spot, perfect for strolling around, boating or just enjoying nature.
Yuzena K — Google review
Located in Gerardmer, this beautiful quiet glacial lake offers stunning views over Vosges mountains🏞🌄. It is located at 660 meters altitude and has a maximum depth of 38 meters and a mean depth of 17m. It's waters are cristal clear, and they are the home of many fish species like carp, roach fish, pike and trout🐟. You have the opportunity to walk/hike around the lake or to rent boats (there are 3 or 4 boat providers and 2 that offer lake tour with bigger boats), to eat icecream or have dinner or lunch on the shores of this lake. Although it is surrounded by mountains and it seems like a place where no water sports can be practiced, it has on it's shores a sports center where teens and children learn different water sports🚣🏄‍♀️. It also has on it's shores an aquatic center with a natural pool and a beach🏖. Visiting in May this wonderful city and region, I am pleasantly surprised and impressed by this beautiful lake. I can't wait to come back do do the lake tour by foot🚶‍♀️, and to hike on the peak of one of the mountains to see the lake view🏞 that i have heard about..
Roxana Y — Google review
Small but nice lake, enough to spend couple of days of vacation here. Can rent the pedal boat to have a short look around (1 hour 16€). Or just walk on it's perimeter, won't take longer than few hours. Camp is there too, also you can find a casino and cozy tables with benches for a picnic. The lake itself is quite clean, allowed to fish and swim.

After several years of restoration, the castle has been beautifully revitalized, while retaining its historical charm. Visitors can now explore its newly restored rooms, each filled with period details and a unique ambiance that transports you back in time. The perfect fusion of modern updates and historical elements showcases the respect given to this Alsatian treasure. As for the park, it remains a must-see. Designated a "Remarkable Garden," it features a variety of themed gardens, offering a delightful diversity of landscapes. From the formal French garden to the vibrant vegetable patches, each section bursts with colors and scents that change with the seasons. In the summer, the park hosts cultural exhibitions and events, adding a lively, artistic touch to your visit. Whether you are passionate about history, a lover of nature, or simply in search of a peaceful retreat, the Wesserling Park and Castle is sure to delight. The reopening of the castle in 2024 marks a new era for this iconic site, making it a must-visit destination this year.

Super nice activities for children (~2-10 years) who like playing outdoors and discover adventures. Very relaxing atmosphere and a great experience overall. Definitely worth the money!

A very beautiful park and museum. The gardens are pretty large (although not humongeous, you won't need a full day to explore it all). Some places are currently being renovated. The only downside is that the entry is pretty expensive but it's not unexpected.

A beautiful place for walking. Nice camping nearby. The Elsas in France but with a German touch... Marvelous food and drinks... August 2023. We went to the 'Super U' supermarket. And as before, attractive place to do your shopping. Parc de Wesserling has a lot more to show but, I just went to the 'Super U'...

I lived in Alsace for years and I was surprised by the beauty of this location. Waterfalls, hills, forest with a lot of charm. If you like hiking, this place is for you.

Was a great afternoon out. The exhibitions were interesting in the main building, and the gardens were stunning! WARNING! The exhibition in the other building is NOT for people who have a problem with heights! You're supposed to go in at the top and work your way down. I couldn't even tackle the ramp to the entrance without getting giddy! Insider tip...you can go in via the door on the ground floor. Well worth doing.

The Garden Berchigranges is a meticulously designed sanctuary of beauty and tranquility, offering lush gardens, colorful blooms, and serene spaces for reflection. Visitors can stroll through the vast variety of garden and pond areas to view and photograph. The park features beautifully manicured grass paths, unique shrubs and flowers, delightful seating areas, and interesting insect sightings. It's a great place to relax or explore with children as it offers fun corners, mazes, and passages.
One of the most beautiful and unique gardens you can visit! Very impressive landscape, plantings and atmosphere. July is definetly a great time to be there.

Must see if you like gardens. We never saw the same thing twice and were easily there a couple of hours, well wife likes gardens but i enjoyed it too! There's a vast variety of garden and pond areas to view and photograph. On arrival you will be encouraged to walk barefoot, so TAKE YOUR SANDELS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE THEM OFF. The grass areas were perfectly manicured and felt like carpet. It's really well looked after, but not cheap. We paid £10.00 per adult (Aug 2018).

Beautiful very well maintained garden! Must visit. The pathways are made of perfectly cut grass, on which you can walk bare-foot. Many different garden styles, including a maze! We spent hours here. The owner is happy to explain a thing or two about gardening, he speaks English. This place is not wheelchair or baby-stroller friendly. Use a baby-carrier instead.

Beautiful gardens. On entrance we were told we couldn't leave the bikes in the grounds and we couldn't have a picnic in the grounds (not that we'd intended to) We pay €90 a year for kew Gardens in London(300 acres) anytime secure space for bikes inside and we can have a picnic. The price here is too high for what you get. I've added photos of lack of bike parking and some lovely places that are perfect for a picnic even though you can't have one :)

(Translated by Google) A great discovery, my son loved meeting the goats in their field and feeding them. A little cheese tasting on arrival made us want to stop at the stand on the way back! (The pepper/goat cheese is to die for) The only downside was that the film was a bit too long, especially for children... A nice activity with children. Be there at 15h00 so you can go along to fetch the goats. Some of the goats are very big but they are all very friendly. There is a long explanation and a video about the goats and also about the dangers of re-introducing the wolf in the wild. Worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood with children. They love to feed and pet the goats and can cuddle with the young animals.
Henk V — Google review
This place was surprisingly full for what it is, which is essentially a goat-stable with a small attached shop consisting of a single refrigerated display counter. Although it came as a surprise to see so many people had made the trip across the narrow (basically one-lane) winding roads to the top of the mountain, it agreeably does have more to offer than other places in the area, such as: petting and feeding the goat;, taking a look inside the goat-stables; an informational video; an outside terrace; and free-of-charge tasting of the cheeses sold in the shop. The place, at present, still lacks public facilities, such as a toilet - though I've been assured work is being invested to have these available by next year. The proprietors should also be commended about the clear COVID-19 instructions posted in all pertinent places. While all of this in itself might not sound too bad, the informational video is both long, boring and not particularly worthwhile (there's a program available that tells you the length of each segment, but not when it starts, and the style of presentation itself has more of a business presentation rather than a guided tour through the process of cheese manufacture); the goats are quite big, so scary for young children; the goats swallow the feed (available for purchase at €0.50 a cup), which therefore doesn't last long; you can't get any other food or drink at the terrace; and there's a long line in front of the shop - which made us forego buying some of the otherwise excellent cheese. Overall good for a brief visit, but rather a lot of effort to reach for the time you'll spend there...

(Translated by Google) A fun outing. Admission costs €3 without reservation, which includes a goat cheese tasting and the opportunity to feed the goats. It's advisable to keep small children close by during feeding, as the goats can be quite pushy. All explanations are in French, but I still found it worthwhile, provided you don't have to drive too far. (Original) Geinig uitje. Zonder reserveren kost de entree 3 euro, daarvoor krijg je een geitenkaas proeverij en mag je de geiten voeren. (Translated by Google) I would have given it 5 stars, given the warm welcome we received from the staff. I'm not giving it 5 stars because the film shown in the goat barn contains too much cruelty to be shown to children. Aside from that, it is possible to milk the goats, pet them, and feed them. The owner provides very detailed and interesting explanations. Excellent cheese is sold on site! Nice experience, very nice and helpfull employees. The museum and the actual mines are 3 km apart. The map at the site is a bit confusing so some extra signs would be good. At the site there is a bit of hiking to do, on some areas the terrain is abrupt and rocky or with stairs.

A Misty Day's Adventure at Le Thillot Copper Mine Despite visiting the Copper mine at Le Thillot on a dreary, wet day in April, the experience was unexpectedly mesmerizing. The misty weather lent a mystical aura to the moss-covered landscapes, transforming our surroundings into something out of a fairy tale. The highlight of our visit was certainly the guided tour with Fabien through the mine's longest tunnel. Lasting over an hour, the tour was not only extensive but also incredibly engaging, filled with rich details and fascinating stories that brought the history of the mine to life. Fabien’s charismatic, humorous manner, coupled with his deep knowledge of history, captivated us from the start. Adding to the mystical experience were the bats we spotted hibernating within the mine, a unique and memorable sight. The written guide was meticulous and available in German, a thoughtful touch that enhanced our understanding and appreciation of the site. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and our late arrival, we were unable to visit the mine’s museum on the same day. However, the staff were wonderfully understanding and assured us that our tickets would remain valid for entry to the museum the following day. By the end of our visit, we were truly humbled by the rich history and intricate processes of the Le Thillot Copper Mine. And let me just say, with copper all around us, it's easy to "take it for granite." :) Overall, the visit to Le Thillot Copper Mine was well worth the 15 euros, turning what could have been a gloomy day into an extraordinary adventure. I highly recommend this insightful and unique experience! Enjoy & GLÜCK AUF! The Gooners ;-)

Very nice trip back in history. These 400 year old copper mines are very nice to visit. There is a visitors center with a museum where you can learn about mining. A few kilometres further by car is the mining area where you can visit several mine shafts. I can highly recommend the guided tour in shaft 15. You need good shoes and you should be afraid for small and dark area's. They supply a helmet with a light on it to you. We had a very enthusiastic and nice guide explaining how the miners made the tunnels, cope with the water inside the tunnels and teached us about the copper mining. Als her English was very good, so compliments to the guide. After this we spend about 1 hour over the copper area to visit several small tunnels and hotspots. Was a nice walk in a green and beautiful area. I definitely recommend to do this €11,- trip (for 1 adult, including museum, guided tour and walk through the copper mine area)

Very nice place to visit in the Vosges. It is great that there is a mix of things to do: the museum has a lot of background information and cool archaeological findings, while the "discovery tour" allows for learning about the premises at own pace. Actually entering the mine can only be described as fantastic. Thanks to the lovely, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic guide we were made aware of the rich history hidden in the old mine shafts. Bring some warm clothes! For small children it might be a bit too cold and difficult to understand, but for older kids and grownups it is a great afternoon out.
Rosanne — Google review
Even though we made a reservation we had to wait almost an hour in the visitor center. Except for that it was pretty good. The tour trough the mine was interesting. Although the guide did not speak a lot of English. The mine itself is very cramped just like it was when it was in use and that was nice. It felt very real. The area around the mine has some interesting stuff and the leaflet gave some nice information. The museum was also surprisingly nice.

There were 3 of us and, thanks to the many clues provided by the game master (because we sometimes stupidly got stuck on obvious things), we were able to finish on time (barely!). The theme is well respected, we really find the atmosphere of Alice in Wonderland. You should also know that everything is handmade and with heart by the family who manages this escape, well done to them!! The puzzles are interesting and varied, but without truly linear and guided progression, you must therefore organize yourself well and distribute tasks, and above all communicate well. The second room is on the theme of Albert Perronne, local hero, and we will not fail to try it on occasion 😎👍 Thanks of course to Nathalie for her charming welcome! It commemorates the French resistance during the Franco-Prussian War and symbolizes courage and strength. The city of Belfort itself is known for its well-preserved ancient walls, a large university campus, and several museums. The lion statue sits atop the citadel and is a popular attraction for history enthusiasts.
it's nice sculpture. The Lion of Belfort, in Belfort, France, is an 1880 monumental sculpture by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the sculptor of the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World). The Lion of Bartholdi is a monumental sandstone sculpture by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, located in Belfort, France. Symbolizing French resilience, it commemorates the city's determined resistance during the Franco-Prussian War siege. The lion's imposing size and expressive, romantic style vividly convey strength, defiance, and emotional power. This iconic artwork exemplifies Bartholdi’s skill in combining patriotism with dramatic, naturalistic form, making it a powerful symbol of courage and national pride.

Beautiful place with A great view of Belfort and the mountains. I thought you gave to pay everything but that wasn’t true. You can just walk to the fort, go up, enjoy the view and walk anywhere nearby. Also in the summer it is a good place to get some sun, because there is plenty of grass where you can lay down and enjoy the sun and the view.

Cafe doesn't open till Midday, but looked lovely. Amply parking as well. Maybe the only reason to visit this small town.

This is a really nice museum. It has a very nice collection of old vehicles. Easy to access by foot or public transport. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cars are very well preserved. It was also very nice seeing the concept vehicles. The experience would've been better if there also were some new models being preserved or some interactive elements. Even though the collection is not the biggest one I've seen, it is definitely worth the visit.
Alen M — Google review
Although this place has a great collection of cars and some historical perspectives, I'm not sure if you could really say it's a museum. It lacks some well-due critical perspectives of the car industry. There is, for instance, no mention of worker's unions striking for better working conditions, the reality of modern assembly-line workers or the effect or the damaging effects of the car and oil industry on the environment. If you're really into cars, this place is probably worth the detour. But: don't expect critically aware historical perspectives. In my opinion, it reads more as a big advertisement for Peugeot than a true museum.
A D — Google review
This is a really well curated collection in a great setting. The cars on display are amazing and we loved that the descriptions were both in French and English. A super bonus is lunch in the brasserie which is right amongst the cars on display. The hamburger was delicious and the guy serving was really friendly.

The park also houses the Jardins de l'Hotel de Ville, featuring well-maintained flower beds, fountains, and statues. Additionally, visitors can explore the Pavillon des Sciences to engage in various science-related activities and exhibitions.
Nice place to walk with the family, kids can have fun too.

🌳 Very nice Park, ideal to take romantic pictures. 🌊 There is Allan river going thru the park: very beautiful and nice atmosphere. 🚪 The park has many entrances, so the newcomers could possibly get lost: therefore, better to share a clear localisation point if you wanna gather.

Colline Notre Dame du Haut

Mentioned on
1 list
Cultural landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Colline Notre Dame du Haut is a contemporary hillside monastery with stunning panoramic views and sacred artworks. The chapel, built in 1955 by renowned architect Le Corbusier, features a distinctive shell-like roof and organic curves. Currently undergoing renovations, visitors can still admire the beautiful facades and the old tower while looking forward to the renovated interior. The serene surroundings and famous architecture make it a must-visit spot for architecture enthusiasts and those seeking a holy experience.
The Notre Dame du Haut chapel by Le Corbusier has been on my must-visit list for years. Around the main chapel, Le Corbusier also designed some additional structures, including a charming little house where the priest still lives. I wasn’t aware that Renzo Piano designed the ticket office and the monastery, or that Prouvé created the three bells for the chapel. We visited around sunset, just before closing at 4:30 PM. The way the sunlight filtered through the windows was absolutely mesmerizing. I highly recommend planning your visit around this time. Keep in mind that the last entry is at 4:30 PM, and the site closes at 5 PM. With a student ticket, we paid $6.50 per person, which felt reasonable for such a unique and unforgettable experience.

I have come to this magic place high above the city of Ronchamp a couple of times; the first one in 1961 when I travelled here from southern Sweden with my mother in her Volvo P1800 sports car, filled with red wine from Burgundy, an adventure over several weeks, and the last time this rainy last Friday of April 2025. The chapel has now been almost completely renovated which was indeed needed. I was fortunate to come while the chapel choir was rehearsing, filling the interior magnificently with their voices. And the rain stopped from time to time allowing the few visitors this day to take their photos. Enjoy!

As an architecturelover and Le Corbusier-fangirl, I loved visiting the Notre Dame Du Haut! It is currently being renovated, the facades were finished, currently they're working on the tower and after that they will finish with the interior. It's actually really okay to visit during the renovationworkd. You can have a look at the beautiful facades, but still see the old tower a bit (with a cracks). Looking forward to the renovated interior. Recommend walking around a bit and enjoy the building by Renzo Piano. The buildings are perfectly integrated and interect beautifully with nature, the buildings don't impose on the environment. Small but nice museumshop. The website is horrible though.

A stunningly beautiful chapel, well restored and looking as it did when built. Restorations look complete and no scaffolding up now.

We were on the day of the museums and didn't pay anything for entry. We liked the place. New built church in an unusual style. You can stop for a short time, for half an hour or an hour. This will be enough to visit the church and visit the monastery garden with herbs, climb the pyramid and look at the world from above.
Io L — Google review
A fantastic place to experience some of Le Corbusier’s finest work. Take your time to explore both the interior and exterior of the building. From the outside, the structure transforms beautifully with the changing light, different angles and shadows give it a whole new feel. Don’t forget to walk around and capture photos from all four sides for the full experience!

Too bad for tourists like me and too bad for the region! Glacières de Sylans

Mentioned on

Historic Sites
Glacières de Sylans is a historical site with a fascinating industrial heritage located in Ain, France. Dating back to the 19th century, it was once one of the most significant ice production facilities in the country, churning out up to 300,000 tons of ice annually. The remnants of this thriving industry can still be explored today through an open and free visit throughout the year.

Very beautiful place if you are passing through on the highway. Completely free to visit and you get stunning views and interesting history
Anna O — Google review
The ruined site of a one-time prosperous and important ice harvesting and storage facility that fell out of favour and into disrepair following the invention of the refrigerator is a must-see. There are information boards in both French and English that explain the process and the history - and which detail the hard life of the workers; as well as a series of atmospheric photographs taken inside the vast building (which for safety reasons is out of bounds to visitors). Steep wooden steps and a boardwalk take you down to the lake (chosen for the job because the purity of its water meant it froze at higher temperatures) and there's a gravel track on the other side of the building accessed more easily from the car park (where there's also a dry toilet). It's free to enter.
Jenny D — Google review
Remote and quiet (apart from the highway next door), not much to do there, but nice place nonetheless. There's a possibility to walk on the ice if the winter is good enough

Theme Parks
Walibi Rhône-Alpes is an amusement park celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2024 and introducing a new attraction called Mahuka. The park offers 34 attractions, including 24 activities suitable for children over 90 cm. It features three themed areas, 12 dining options, and takeaway points. Visitors praise the friendly staff but note limited open checkouts during promotions. Some suggest providing wheelchairs for those in need and reevaluating ticket prices for kids' escorts.
I love Walibi. Excellent place to spend time with your kids. The only thing that would make it even better would be a place that sells a good coffee.
Sasha J — Google review
Er had a very good time in Walibi Rhone-Alpes. The rides are good. The new ride Mahuka ist awesome. The new water-play area is nicely designed with a lot of nice details. I loved the effort in the details of the new area and ride. The other rides in the park makes also a lot of fun. Only the Show LE POUVOIR DE GAÏA do not fit in the entertainment Level with the park. The actors and stuntman are good in their jobs, but the show and story was for kids. There’s a few nice effects and two major stunts, but that’s all. There’s also a few fight choreographies that I saw in other parks better, and to many chatting. And only one Charakter speaks live. I know that shows with these concept runs better, but the entertainment is suffers under these conditions. And the stage is awesome, there so many options to bring that show to a new level of entertainment with the crew and the stage. Please use the chance. All the Employees, at the entrance, the security, in the Shops and at the attractions are very friendly. The Park was not busy at the day but the employees are fast at the attractions so we had only a few minutes to wait. It is nice to see, that the employees working fast at rollercoasters leading to a high guest throughput. As I said, the show-crew is good, but the show must more entertain adults and must have more action.
R. P — Google review
We visited the park on a mid-week day in August. Overall, it was fun — a bit crowded, but still manageable. Several rides offer a single-rider line, which can significantly reduce wait times. It’s also a good idea to follow the advertised wait times for each ride and plan accordingly. We purchased a ticket that included lunch, which was a nice option and worth it. However, there were a few drawbacks: some rides only open around midday, which is unfortunate, especially on busy days. The weather was hot, but there wasn’t enough shade throughout the park, and there were too few water fountains available for refilling bottles.
Hila — Google review
Nice amusement park with a good variation of attractions. Several attractions for the small children (also a great water play park), and also nice roal coasters for the dare devils.
John R — Google review
Amazing park, extremely high quality coasters. Very friendly staff! The rides are unique and all of them are special and much more intense than the ones at other and bigger theme parks. All of them are unique and you have the possibility to try 3 completely different ride experiences, one of them being an incredibly smooth Vekoma Boomerang.
Nelson C — Google review
As I visited almost 200 theme parks Walibi Rhone-Alpes is one of my all time favorite theme parks. I visited it for the fist time two years back with roller coaster club and I was amazed by everything right after I entered the park. I was curious if my impression will be the same when I travelled alone this time. And it was even better. Very friendly staff was giving me small talk on security check, at Mystic station and even Mahuka station. Just because I was wearing my Walibi Holland T-shirt. The park is not big, everything feels very close. The park does not focuse on quatity or size/scale but on quality which I am a huge fan of. Food is delicious. High dive show is very impressive. Theming around Mahuka and Mystic is phenomenal. This park know where to invest and how to run park well. Parking is included in your admission. Number one park in France. No discussion. Highly recommended. Thank you very much for having me. :)
Dave C — Google review
Walibi Rhône-Alpes is a small but beautiful theme park that has flourished in the past few years. The addition of Mystic in 2019 put this park on the map, and the new for 2024 Mahuka gave it a well-rounded ride lineup. Although this park seems to cater more towards families, you can have a lot of fun here as a thrill seeker. Getting to the park with a car is fine, as long as you don't get stuck with some of the closed roads in the area. Getting here with public transport is seemingly impossible, but the parking is free. The park is clean and tidy and has three little themed areas that you can explore. The theming is not out of this world, but I did really like the uniqueness of the Mystic area. The rides are unexpectedly good. Mystic is smooth and fun, although the wait can get annoying when they run it on one train. Mahuka is amazing fun and also has a great capacity considering the trains only hold 9 people. The baggage system is unconventional, but it worked. I also really liked the offering of the Mahuka pass, which was limited to one per person per day so that everyone could have the chance to experience this ride at least once. The only problem I had with this park was the food. There is a beautiful almost restaurant just outside Mystic and we should have just eaten there. Instead, we got some chicken tenders with fries, and those weren't great. This is still an amazing park, and the low height requirements make it perfect for aspiring thrill seekers. I am excited to see what the future holds for Walibi Rhône-Alpes.
Gerhard — Google review
I recently visited this amusement park, and I have to say it was one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had. The roller coaster queues were absolutely ridiculous—over 1.5 hours for a ride that lasted only 3 minutes! It's hard to believe that in this day and age, a theme park can't manage its lines better. To make matters worse, we noticed that some of the seats were marked as "disabled," which seemed like a lazy excuse for lack of proper maintenance. It gave the impression that the park is more focused on profits than on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Speaking of profits, the fast track tickets for over €7 per ride felt like an outright scam, exploiting the long wait times instead of addressing the underlying issues. It’s frustrating to see a park take advantage of its visitors like that. When we finally got hungry and decided to grab a bite, the situation only got worse. The lines for the fast food restaurants were just as long—about an hour wait for some of the worst cheeseburgers I've ever had. They were cold, seemed precooked, and honestly tasted like they had been sitting in a fridge for days. I've had better quality food at gas stations! To top it all off, the security personnel were rude and unhelpful when we had a simple question. It was clear that customer service was not a priority for them. Overall, I left the park feeling frustrated and cheated. With such long waits, poor food quality, and a lack of courteous staff, I cannot recommend this amusement park to anyone looking for a fun day out. Save your money and go somewhere that values its guests!

The Caves of La Balme

Heritage preservation
Storied cliff caves open for tours of prehistoric relics, limestone pillars & a frescoed chapel.
This place was honestly a surprise. Around 50 km from Lyon, and once you're inside, it's like a hidden world. Big chambers, tunnels, underground lakes...quiet and slightly spooky in a good way. Every spot has a story to tell. The Lake inside looked amazing, and the small maze section was fun. It’s self-guided so you can take your time. Not too crowded, which made it even better. Just wear proper shoes as it can be a bit slippery. If you're near Lyon and want to see something different, this is totally worth it. Note: Skip the maze if tight spaces freak you out or if you're a big guy, you might get stuck!😉

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Zoo park with 60 species in natural-style habitats, focusing on predators, both mammals & birds.
Lovey zoo with great selection of animals and they are improving on increasing enclosure sizes I’ve seen this year. Annual pass is really reasonable and under 4s go free. Great for little legs as not too much walking. Amenities include toilets, baby change, bouncy castle, mini farm (you can feed the goats and sheep) Snack bar, play park, and a gift shop.

Having visited many major zoological sites, it is always nice to see a place that makes an effort to improve the quality of life of the animals, particularly the large cats. This place is not the best I've seen, but it's not the worst either. There are a few signs discussing their efforts and more could be done to better clarify this essential element for visitors. Includes a decent play area for small children and an acceptable variety of animals to see, with a strong focus on felines!

Very nice small zoo. I have spend around two hours there. A lot of owls and wild cats. I saw one wolf. I really liked the white tiger. Throughout the park there are playgrounds for children, and inflatable castle. There is a little farm inside where kids can caress animals. Maybe it would be nice to get the kids more involved on the farm, for example help with the clean up after the animals or brush them. I saw this in another zoo and children really enjoyed to take care of the animals. I didn’t like the exit through a large gift shop.

Wonderful animal park with nice play spaces for kids (the huge ball pit is a favorite). They where rebuilding some enclosures when we visited, but things where clean and well marked. The animations are well organized and interesting! Parking is a little walk, unless you come early and park right in front of the entrance

If you are around with kids it's a good option. However, they need to expand some zones as the big animals does not really have space to run and just walk in circles.

A nice friendly-staff zoo with a lot of carnivores to watch. A bird show that was quite interesting (if you have visited the park des oiseaux in Lyon maybe it's not worth losing your time to watch this as well). Beautiful pic nic area and playground with some shade to rest before you continue your visit!

The best of the best. We had so much fun, the staff is adorable, the shows are for free, many different wild animals (Tigers, Lion, black panther etc.. ) Also too many birds. The prices are affordable even in the restaurant and they take all types of paiements even Chèques ANCV. The place is safe and highly protected.
