Well worth a couple hours. So interesting to see the tools he used, where and how he lived and how he honed his craft. Everyone gets an audio guide which is easy (ish) to navigate. You can’t bring a purse or backpack through but they offer free lockable lockers. You won’t want the bag anyhow, it’s those narrow stairs again 😝 Go watch the etching demonstration- very cool.
This is a great place to visit not only for Rembrandt’s fans. Audio guide make it a very pleasent experience - it goes very smoothly. You can see how Rembrandt lived and worked and learned about the Society of his times; also see some nice paintings (but not by the Master himself). The nicest part is where you can sit in an actual place where Rembrandt’s pupils were learning how to paint and seriously feel like one of them by „pretending” to paint. I spent a great time here!!! There is also a contemporary exhibition which makes the whole experience a more complex one - you can appreciate Art in its broader sense, which always is great!
This is a gem of a place to visit while you're visiting Amsterdam, it's a very personal look into Rembrandt's life, home and work. There is an audio guide upon entry and I have to say I was so pleasantly surprised to have such an incredible experience here. I was able to mix paint at the demonstration, see where he taught students in his home and see his personal collection of books, busts, art and other items he collected in his lifetime. It is an amazing display of his home and how he lived. If you love art this is a great place to visit.
As a painter, it was a precious moment to be in Rambrandt's house and see where he painted his masterpieces!
The staff explained the printing process with such passion!

The audio guide is good so you can go at your own place. Most of the house's contents were sold by Rembrandt to pay his debts so most things in the house were bought to replace them, so. So not used by Rembrandt except a few things which were mentioned.
What. A lovely museum and shows the history of Dutch colonialism, the items they got from either looting or straight forward purchasing or getting it from legitimate sources
Rembrandts life history is very interesting he painted things as he saw them his drawings of black people and Asians is spot on as one would see them in real life and not as a caricature which is very interesting as it appears he respects culture and maybe too liberal for his own time
The maids bed was interesting and also a t explains how they slept back in the days as sleeping sitting down was recommended than lying flat
The house is beautiful with art and history littered round the place
The staff are lovely
Please be respectful and not touch any furniture
Look at the collection of Rembrandt especially the ceilings as there are some lovely collection ranging from Roman busts to animals and skulls
There is no cafe in the place but there are toilets which are clean
Plenty of Cafes near the museum and we got got recommends to visit a soup place which is literally round the block but this is about the museum
Make sure you take you time sit and watch and there is also live demo abut etching which is interesting
There is a lot to learn and take in
Overall a very good day
Adults pay 21 euros which is bit steep but they need to maintain the place so probably worth it

My experience at the DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station was beyond wonderful. From the moment of check-in, which was very swift thanks to the gentleman at reception on 18th September around 8–9pm, everything felt seamless. As a Lifetime Diamond member, I was upgraded to a beautiful corner suite and personally welcomed by what seemed to be the duty manager or front desk supervisor. She was very professional, warm, and made us feel instantly at home.
The suite itself was spotless and well-equipped, with incredible views of both the city and the water. Despite being next to the central station and close to the hotel’s bar, the room was peaceful and quiet. It truly felt like a relaxing retreat after long days exploring Amsterdam and nearby areas — especially when enjoying tea or coffee while admiring the view.
We ordered the margherita pizza from room service, which was excellent. A special mention also goes to the concierge: on Sunday evening I urgently needed to print a colour work document, and the gentleman on duty went above and beyond to help me.
Breakfast was the standard Hilton offering but with a lot of nice local touches. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, making the experience fun and enjoyable.
Overall, this hotel exceeded expectations on every level. I highly recommend it, and in fact, I’ve already booked it again for my short stay in Amsterdam this October.

Great location… 5 min walk from the Central station and 7-10 minutes walk to the centrum including the RLD and even Dam square. The location is unbeatable!
The hotel is very modern and nicely decorated. The rooms are a tiny bit small but acceptable for one person.. It would have been tight for a couple but acceptable for Europe. The bathroom is ok and they have decent toiletries.

The service is good but not consistent. They offer water for the coffee machine but they don’t replenish them! I had to ask and make my coffee with tap water, which I understand is clean in Amsterdam.
The views from the rooms are nice. There is an excellent buffet breakfast, it was included so I don’t know the price.. The coffee declined in quality as the days went by, I don’t know why.. it’s not good coffee but the rest of the food is decent and included bircher muesli, cereal station, Goji Berries etc..they also prepare eggs on demand.

The hotel itself is nice, but the food and drink service let it down.
At breakfast, I left my phone and earphones on a clean table by the river while I went to get food. When I came back, they were gone. A member of staff had picked them up and told me I had to move because that area was “closed”, even though other guests were still seated there. I was moved to a dirty, cramped table with no clean cutlery, surrounded by loud families and away from the window.
I then had to find another table myself, and by the time I did, my food was cold and had to be replaced. A few minutes later, another guest was seated at my original table by a different staff member. My belongings should also never have been removed and put into a staff member’s pocket.
At the rooftop bar, drink service was very slow. Later that night we tried to return, but were refused entry even though there were still 20–25 minutes until closing and other guests were inside. We then bought drinks from the hotel shop, only to be told we couldn’t sit in the lobby and had to go to our rooms.
On the positive side, the location is great, check-in staff were friendly, and the room was upgraded with no issues. Concierge was friendly and helped with a good dinner booking.
The Doubletree is a very good hotel in central Amsterdam, The place it's not the best neighborhood to stay in the city, since it is by the central station, but it is very convenient. We had a room with a very nice view to the canal, small but quiet. The wifi works great, the pillows are not what you would expect from this kind of hotels and the light in the room could have some improvement it is too dark!!
The breakfast buffet is delicious, with plenty of different food to choose from.
We’ve stayed here a few times, it’s a great location next to the station and the trams, also a little away from the busiest areas so you can come back here and chill if you want to. Rooms are excellent, comfortable and quiet. Staff are super helpful. Don’t miss the rooftop bar.
I'll make a long and unpleasant story short so that you understand my fury.
I booked a stay at the Amsterdam Doubletree in Centraal station from 21-30Dec2025. I booked your hotel and not an Air BnB specifically because your hotel had A/C. I was given a room with a poorly-functioning A/C. When I complained on day 2, after spending the night sweating through my sheets, I was told they'd handle it. They did not. Complaints on days 3 through 5 via both phone and request at the front desk yielded no repairs and no new room. On day 6 (that Monday) I went down and demanded a new room, which I received.
During those first 5 days I was at a conference. Due to lack of sleep because of the warm room, I was unable to take full advantage of the knowledge presented. Additionally, my time with my friends was curtailed because I was tired and spent time napping in their rooms at other hotels that had functioning A/C.
This is the SECOND vacation this hotel has ruined due to maintenance issues; on the first one the shower was clogged for 3 days and not fixed, so I had to take a shower / stay at other friends' places. I get a vacation on average about every 2.5-3 years, and this hotel has managed to almost ruin both. I will never again stay at a Hilton hotel for foreign travel and will discourage anyone I know from utilizing your chain.
Lifetime Diamond status doesn't appear to get you any additional consideration, and now you've got some kind of new Tier that I'm supposed to strive for. If I do any more tier-advancing, I'm going to do it with Mariott.
Ideal location, walking distance to most tourist attractions. Overlooks the canal. Facility is also nice clean contemporary modern . Staff is also very friendly and nice, Only reason I am giving a low rating for service is, being Hilton Gold I was told I have free breakfast at check in. Somehow that didn't make it to the on line system..when my daughter went for breakfast , she was turned away. And this happened on last day, as we ate out first 2 days. Anyways, they need to have some system in place. Otherwise had a wonderful stay here.

I’ve been to dozens of zoos across the US and Europe and this is one of the most beautiful. Lovely enclosures and the pathways and buildings are lovely as well. The animals seemed quite lively compared to other zoos as well.

We had such a wonderful time at this zoo! 🐒🦁 From the moment we arrived, everything was well-organized and easy to navigate. The variety of animals was impressive — we saw everything from playful monkeys to majestic lions, and even some adorable penguins. The enclosures were clean and spacious, and it was clear the animals are well cared for.
The staff were friendly and happy to answer questions, and there were plenty of spots to rest, grab a snack, or take great photos. It’s a perfect place for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals. We left with big smiles and some great memories.
ARTIS Zoo is a hidden gem in the heart of Amsterdam! It’s beautifully laid out, with a great mix of animals, botanical gardens, and historical architecture. The enclosures are well-maintained, and the animals seem well cared for. I especially enjoyed spending quality family time here with my grandchildren — there was something magical for all ages. Highlights include the aquarium, planetarium, and butterfly pavilion. The peaceful atmosphere and lush greenery make it feel more like a park than a typical zoo. A perfect spot for a relaxing, educational day out. Definitely worth a visit
Very interesting place to visit with guide. Not only the animals but also the flowers, herbs and trees are worth seeing. We have a wonderful time in relaxing atmosphere in the walking paths and exciting moments in acrowdy palces along animals. I highly recommend
I could have spent all day watching the elephants playing with their ball, or the otters posting for photos, or walking around with butterflies landing on me. Really big and interesting zoo! (Tickets are cheaper to buy online in advance)
I bought my tickets online through booking.com and entered the zoo with no wait. ARTIS is a phenomenal zoo. The grounds and enclosures are tasteful, pretty and humane. The grounds feel like walking through a park rather than a zoo, and have plenty of quiet places to sit and rest. Highly recommend
A large zoo with a wide variety of animals and plenty to see and explore! The planetarium was a fun bonus and added something unique to the visit. There are vegan food options available, though a bit on the pricey side.
Some enclosures could definitely be improved, especially for the crocodiles, who seemed to have very limited space.
Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable day. Great for visiting with friends or family.
We really liked the zoo. We went with kids 5 and 1.5 years old, and it was a very good experience. It is expensive, yes. But if you plan on making a full day plan out of it, it's worth it. I'd say at least 3 hours, otherwise not worth the money. It has A LOT of animals, also a few small playgrounds, a cafeteria and a couple of small snack huts. Food is not bad but nor very good either, expensive as expected. You might want to bring snacks and sandwiches, and maybe just get a little something extra there, although if you don't, you can get everything there. Super stroller friendly, and they even have like small "carts" to take your kids, probably 1-5 years old. You just need to deposit a 2 euro coin and at the end they give it back.

You will be able to explore the canals of Utrecht on a pedal boat ride with Stromma Utrecht Canal Tours, which is an authorized tour company. You will have to pay an admission fee, but this is well worth it as you get to see many beautiful sights while riding on the boats. The ride takes about 90 minutes and you can go at your own pace so that you can enjoy the views and atmosphere of this Dutch city.
Fantastic canal tour. We rented the small boat for 4 people, and we saw beautiful scenery while sailing through the Utrecht city canals. Very recommended and worth the price, which was not a lot.

Very nice service from the people working at the little office today (19 July). We had some discount cards from vrindenloterij and the guy was so nice to check if they work with them ( they didn’t) but still he made an extra effort to check that for us, we made a reservation for a later moment and when we came back there was a lady who explained everything nice and she was really friendly ☺️ thank you
This pedal boat experience was a mistake for us. There was nothing enjoyable, easy or entertaining about it. My 10-year old child and I rented a Stromma Utrecht paddle boat today and regretted it immediately. Why? It was just way too much work for two people on vacation. We had not been prepared for the *huge amount of physical exertion* required to move and steer these boats. We made it through 1/3 of the route, and then decided to turn back, as we were already sweaty, stressed and physically wasted from pedaling and steering of the boat. It was a very hot day.
I do not recommend this experience to anyone, really, but if you must give it a try, you should consider yourself Strong, Energized, and on the Tall side. This is necessary because the seats on the boats do not adjust, and short-legged people will be challenged to reach the pedals and get traction. Steering the boats is also arduous and requires arm strength. Combined with the hard pedaling, it made for an unpleasant experience in a beautiful place.
And lastly, the route map that is on the boat was unhelpful, as it was faded and impossible to read. It would be wonderful if the company revised and replaced them.
The employee who helped us today was both nice and professional, and did her best to provide service. Still, she cannot control the quality of the boats or of the experience you will have, once you are out on your own.
In summary, I discourage you from spending money on this pedal boat tour. The rental kayaks we saw (different company) looked like a much better time.

Probably the most beautiful activity you can do when visiting Utrecht. Check their opening hours before you go. They are open April, May, June, September and October from Wednesday until Sunday 10h00-18h00. Daily in July and August. Closed November, December, January and February. This way you are never disappointed...
Went to Utrecht for a day out of Amsterdam. As a group of four we almost skipped this canal tour booth until one of us pointed it out.
We each had to then pay an admission fee, but once that was done we were to hop onto a four man pedal boat and explore the canals of this Dutch city.
We were completely blown away with the views and overall friendly atmosphere of the city. The ride takes about 90 minutes but you get to see so much at your own pace and have a fun time doing it.
Sadly we can't have a pedalo since we are 2 adults and three kids, despite the fact that our small one would have had more than enough space to sit in the middle....

The Dom Tower, also known as Domtoren in Dutch, is a Gothic church tower standing at 95 meters high with a 17th-century carillon and offers panoramic views. It is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands at 112.32 meters high and was originally part of the city's cathedral, which was never completed. Visitors can take guided tours to climb its 465 steps, explore giant bells, and learn about its history.
Great guide tour, consider 1h in total to climb up and go down, eat and or drink before the tour starts as no belongings are allowed in (can be left in a locker for free). Not made for light hearted people, first floor is ok to access but after that, very narrow turning stairs. Up to 465 stairs to climb and incredible views on last floor.

It’s a well organized tour. The steps could be a bit slippery. The last steps are a bit challenging as there are many to climb in a single go. They also get very narrow at the end. The views, to be frank, are nothing to brag about- so don’t go just for the view and since the barricades are metallic and not of glass or clear plastic, you cannot get good pictures. Anyway it was exhilarating because of the cool breeze at the top.
Definitely worth the effort climbing up to the top of the tower. Guide is in both Dutch and English. Almost 500 steps single trip and the staircase is getting narrower and narrower as moving towards the top. Be prepared for shaky legs after coming down ...
Had a great tour here. We bought tickets in advance and everything was very smooth. There are a lot of stairs and many spiral which does get a bit warm, but is a cool experience and learned some interesting history. Great views and very good tour guides who are able to provide the tour and answer questions in Dutch and English.
This is one of the recommended activities to do in Utrecht. It is exhilarating when you get to the top but you need to climb 463 steps with 4 stops to get there. The last stretch was most difficult because it was 150 steps at once and towards the top it got much narrower so for the claustrophobic folks, take note. Otherwise its a nice feeling to get to the top and get some photos though the barb wire can pose a challenge to getting wonderful photos.
Utrecht is a small, charming and very vibrant city. I just stayed one day but had an amazing experience and will definitely go again. Utrecht has so many things to offer from historical buildings and museums to good shopping and great diversity of food places.
This is a place you should visit in Utrecht provided you can take the significant climb up the stairs. The view is certainty worth it.
You have to book a tour, which does add to the experience and our guide was friendly and informative. The tour was presented in Dutch and English. The start point is in a shop nearby so make sure you read the information carefully.
Must see if you visit Utrecht, the view from the tower is absolutely gorgeous and the story behind the tower is nice to hear. You can also do some exercising while enjoying the views. 🤓 Book a ticket in advance.

Efteling is a massive amusement park located in Brabant, south of Amsterdam Zuid. It covers 1000 hectares and is three times larger than New York's Central Park, making it one of the largest in Europe. The park features fairytale-themed rides, wooden roller coasters, and a captivating water fountain and light show.
Such a fun park!
We were a couple with 4 kids, ages 4 to 16, and we had a great time.
We arrived right when the park opened — the parking lot was already quite full — and we stayed until the very end. We managed to experience everything, some rides even more than once.
In my opinion, there’s no real need for two days, unless you want to take it slow and relaxed.
There are plenty of attractions for both younger and older kids. Of course, there are more exciting rides for kids over 120 cm, and those usually have slightly longer lines. The longest we waited was about 40 minutes, which is quite reasonable for a summer day — some rides had no line at all.
The rides are really well-designed and a lot of fun. The whole park is well-organized, with great atmosphere and music all around. There are also shows throughout the park, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for them.
We randomly came across one horse show that was beautiful and impressive.
At the end of the day, there’s a fountain and water show with music and lights — a great way to finish.

I remember this being one of the happiest day of my life so far. Where my inner child was allowed to experience joy and excitement with no limitations.
There are various different rides ranging from easy-going to adventure seeking, so different strokes for different folks.
It's very family friendly and easily accessible to all. On the day we went, there were a lot of kids, babies, toddlers and disabled persons. It accommodates all family sizes. I went with my partner and we noticed that there were some rides that were only for single riders, so you can definitely experience this solo.
In addition to the rides, it's magical to walk around and take in the atmosphere and Fairytale details of the park.
I really appreciated the fact we didn't stand too long in the lines for food and the rides. Also a big shout out to the staff who are simply the best (to quote Tina Turner).

It is ok for families with kids between 5 and 10. Probably also for people between 20 and 25 who are seeking gor a bit of adrenaline.

All in all, if you live at maximum 250 km is a good place to spend a nice day.
Probably the best theme park i've ever been to. The attractions are really immersive and they have something for all ages. They also have some really fun shows happening all over the park. On top of that, i thought all the food we had was very tasty and reasonably priced. Since we went on a weekday at the end of September, the wait times were never more than 10 minutes. I would definitely recommend using their app which has an interactive map of the park where you can view the live waiting indicators and show times.
Even on a Wednesday, there were still lots of people! The popular rides had a 20–30 minute wait. Some of the facilities looked a bit old and even a little creepy, but the merry-go-round was very special and really cool.
Efteling is a stunning themepark full of magic and spectacle! It’s perfect for bringing children or honestly any family member- I’m not joking your grandma would love this!
Every attraction is themed, detailed and a cared for. Nothing is without consideration, the green spaces, the story telling - even the bins are a delight (iykyk). Every staff member you encounter will be lovely- every ride operation will be fast but efficient.
One day is simply not enough to see and experience everything as there is so much to do but one day at Efteling will fill your heart for a year if you have to travel as far as I did for the experience!
A bit crowded and long queues compared to other parks, but it is worth it. Many people prefer new rollercoasters, which are nice of course, but in my opinion joris and the draak is still one of the best: longer ride and many turns, plus the waiting line moves faster.
An incredible day out. Beautifully designed and perfect for kids
We spent a full day at Efteling (10am–7:30pm) with our two young children and honestly, it was amazing. The park is huge and much bigger than Disney in terms of space, but it never felt overwhelming. There are so many rides, attractions, and beautifully landscaped areas to explore.
Despite it being August and around 25°C, we barely queued the longest we waited was 30 minutes for the train (we'd just missed it), but everything else was under 10 minutes, including the pedal trains, a few dark rides, and Carnaval Festival.
What really sets Efteling apart is the atmosphere: peaceful, whimsical, and full of little pockets where you can sit, eat, or just wander in the shade. It felt like a fairytale world that hadn’t been turned into a shopping centre.
One big downside though – no water fountains anywhere. Coming from the UK where free tap water is a given, this was a bit of a shock. The day before in Belgium we were told off for asking to fill our bottles at a soft play, so luckily we had our Yeti flasks with us at Efteling – they just about lasted the day.
Would 100% go back – totally magical and very thoughtfully put together.
Oh and the pancake restaurant is so charming. And the fountain show is a brilliant way to end the day!

A terrific experience, both indoors and out. The level of investment and care are reflected in the impressive scale and quality of the exhibits. Most of the signage included English and German. Definitely worth a day trip from Amsterdam.
Well-maintained folk museum. Structures are beautiful and interesting. Don’t skip anything as it’s all good. Also, town of Enkhuizen is charming and laid back. Experince exceeded expectations.
The museum would take you back into the time of 1920’s living in Netherland coast town after the dike were built which was a fishing village are turned into.
It is accessible by the ferry boat from the museum parking lot or at the ticket booth near the train station if you are coming by trains.
The ticket is &21 euros which includes the both to and from ferry rides!
You need about lease two hours to walk the entire outdoor museum. There are blacksmith shop and laundry shop which powered by a coal burning boiler machine that turning all the washing machines.
It is a great place to take your young kids to visit they can let loose and enjoy the day.
Fantastic step back in time. Incredible that all of the buildings were moved there from other places and rebuilt into the village it is today. Each home had its own story so you need time to appreciate it. Tried freshly smoked makerel, traditional sweets and interactive exhibits. So much to see and do. Highly recommend
A very beautiful open-air museum that has plenty to offer for adults and for kids. You walk inside in many of the buildings and, depending on what’s on offer, see how people used to live. Here and there, people are cooking or making tea. You can watch rope makers, sail makers, carvers, blacksmiths, and laundresses at work. There’s also a lot you can do with children. Building a boat out of clogs, or make your own soap. Some activities cost a small extra fee. We had a great day, and the six hours we spent in the museum went by very quickly. We took the ferry from Parkeerplaats Sluisweg to the museum. There’s plenty of food and drink in the park. The fish at the smokehouse is highly recommended.
It's worth buying tickets online in advance; they're significantly cheaper than at the box office. We saved almost €4, which almost covered the cost of our €7 parking ticket.
Outdoor museum with a lot of variety, recreating the village experience of a Zuiderzee fishing village across various time periods. There’s also a West Frisian hut hidden in the nature preserve area with a knowledgeable local guide/interpreter whose expertise is in the Bronze Age tools and ways of living, like animal husbandry. Also, in the village, at the fish smoker you can try their traditionally smoked salmon, mackerel or herring. You can walk to the museum from the Enkhuizen train station.
It was a great experience. At first we thought the prices were a little bit high, but in the end was a great place and worth every cent. We were really happy. Thanks a lot.

Having been a theme park fan for nearly two decades, I've been lucky enough to visit Walibi Holland several times over the last five years and have always had an enjoyable experience. Since my last trip, the park has really stepped up its game, adding the roller coasters Untamed and YOY, among other general improvements.
I'll start with the highlights. Untamed, the RMC conversion of their old roller coaster, is absolutely sensational. It flies through the track for a truly exhilarating ride. YOY, their new duelling single-rail roller coaster, was also great fun and is definitely a fantastic addition to the park. Another favourite of mine was Goliath, a massive coaster that glides through huge sweeping hills and turns—a great ride. There are also plenty of rides that aren't roller coasters, including an awesome three-drop log flume and a river rapids ride.
The park itself felt clean, safe, and well-maintained. The new additions, including the roller coasters and rides themselves, and even entire areas, felt fresh and vibrant. As with any theme park, there were a few older rides I wasn't too fond of, but even the park's older collection of roller coasters and rides were running well and were good fun.
My only criticisms of the park were the frequent breakdowns on various rides throughout the day. I understand that ride safety is the number one priority, but this was a continuous issue, and we ended up being evacuated from multiple ride queues. The other issue that hampered our day was that on a sunny and busy August Sunday, they were operating some of the park's biggest rides with only one train, making the queues unnecessarily long. I don't know whether this was intentional or due to maintenance issues, but the painfully slow queues did spoil aspects of the day.
Overall, Walibi Holland is a great park with a unique roller coaster lineup and a solid collection of other rides, making it a fantastic day out. The park's presentation is nice, it's clean and feels well looked after, and the food options are decent too. I look forward to seeing what they're planning for the future, as all of their latest investments have been huge successes!

Great park for adults too. Came on a Saturday in August and was crowded but not crazy.
We bought the gold pass at the entrance and probably could have done it with the silver one. Queues were okay and with the fast lane app it’s very easy to book a slot and wait outside until time goes to zero (maximum we waited was 3 minutes in the timer), then you go in. We enjoyed a lot, there are 5-6 big attractions and a lot for kids too. Food offer is a bit unhealthy and expensive but as usual in theme parks. Parking was 12€.
We visited this place in Khalovin. We had a lot of fun and a bit of fear. The kids enjoyed the ride. It takes almost a day to fully enjoy it. We arrived in the evening, and four hours wasn't enough; the lines were long, with wait times of 40 minutes or more.
We came here for the Halloween stuff and for the rides. First negative we found was the parking situation. Literally the worst parking we have ever seen!! Making cars park 3 in a line so you have towns of three cars which means if the person behind you hasn’t gone you’re stuck!! It was muddy and horrible. The bridge across the road is a dumb idea. Fairly easy to get in. The place was quiet at the beginning of the day. I did buy fast lanes so that we didn’t have to queue so long. I did buy fast recommend that. The place gets packed later and it’s awful. They oversell tickets and you cannot move. I bought RIP passes for the fright night experiences and I recommend you do the same if you want to see them all. The walkthroughs and haunted houses are ruined by security guards everywhere. The place is poorly signposted, the maps are all but useless. It’s dirty. The foods expensive but we expect that at these places. The rides are really good though, cannot fault them. Staff were friendly. Would I come back…yes but not at Halloween. Wear old shoes because the place is caked in mud this time of year.
Walibi Holland is a great park for thrill seekers; it has some seriously strong roller coasters that deliver real intensity and smooth rides. The park is clean and well run, though wait times can be long and food is pricey. Still, it’s definitely worth a visit.
I'm only giving this many stars because my family had fun on the rides. I've developed some phobias in my middle age years and I just go for the vibes, the slushies, etc. But let me paint a picture. Thursday was the only day we could go this vacation. I had to work late and only got 3 hrs sleep. I rolled from my bed with some string cheese and a croissant to start my long day knowing I'd get lunch at the park. So many food options it seemed, pasta.. How nice! Yet... Everything was closed except for donuts, toasties, fries, fried snacks... Even the slushy machines were off most places and when I finally found a place with slushy, the cup with lid and plastic straw were sold out. False advertising, no? Honestly, I'd like a refund for just my ticket.. Ridiculous to not have more open especially during a school holiday. We left early because we were hungry.
We a family of 4 really enjoyed staying our 3 days 2 nights in Walibi. The bungalow areas are Quiet, relaxing, lots of trees(pine) clean.
Bungalow is big enough, kitchen facilities is complete though we spent more in restaurant for breakfast and dinner.. Whats less point and annoying is there's only 1 toilet paper, floor is sticky, dust everywhere, bed can be better but i, we slept good. Well we're all day outside so. ..
We did a promo, 2nd day in park is free wich we enjoyed and pure fun for my kids. Though they only had 1 pool, its smaller than I thought my kids enjoyed swimming/playing. They offer really good menu in the restaurant, good quality food. The burger and salad, kip shoutout to the cook, 5star. Helpful, friendly staff (reception and resto.

Went to Walibi fright nights and had a blast! I loved the thematic decorations. I have been the past 6 years every year to fright nights and this was the first time that the cues for the attractions were below 30 min waiting time. On top of this it was also the first time I could enter a haunted house with just the 4 of us. (The years prior there was always a stream of people walking through them causing you to miss all the scares)
One minor point though, I would like Walibi to have one night where the scares actors aren’t confined to their zones but are allowed to roam the whole park. I just think fright nights would really be scary this way.

Not a massive fan of zoos but I think this one is done very well, and for the right reasons.
The different sections felt very well done, you immerse yourself into the various climates of where the animals live.
The information about the various wildlife was also well spread and accessible. I also think the information about the elderly elephant is handled appropriately.
A decently large walk if you want to visit everything, which speaks well to the amount of space the animals are given. The animals don't appear as distressed as I've seen in other zoos.

This is a wonderful zoo, one of the best I have visited in Europe. The forest in the middle of the park is amazing and very diverse in terms of plants and animals, and there's also a waterfall. A lot of animals had newborns, which was very cute. The sea zone was very beautiful, of course limited in size as it is not the main focus of the park (if you like water animals, make sure you visit the one in Barcelona).
Downsides: too many people which created crowds, and no staff around the park to help.
Such a beautiful and fun zoo! Would definitely recommend for adults and for children.

Amazing!!! The first steps didn’t seem like it will be much yet quickly we realized how well thought is whole place. Really you see the animals and theirs wellbeing is the highest priority. Still all is designed in such smart way that you able to observe them in awe! True treat for families but I guess it’s also a great idea for a date or solo experience. Enjoyed tons🙌🏼
There are parts of it fully in dome that creates full experience of natural habitats- if you don’t look up it’s easily to feel like in a jungle or on some tropical place. Amazing!
I went their with my wife and daughter( 2 years old). The park has huge car parking (paid) with electric car chargers. Overall the park is huge and very well built. There are enough benches to sit and observe. The observation decks are very well positioned, and the safari restaurant has amazing views of the African safari lands. Their is great variety of food options, even for kids. The food was lekker.
Overall the entire experience was just amazing.
This was a wonderful zoo experience. One the rare “cageless” habitats and it was wonderful to see the animals roam around in rather large habitats. Beautifully designed, and aesthetically pleasing. Parking costs 9 EUR and approx 29 EUR for a single ticket for adults. It can take somewhere between 3-4 hours to leisurely see all exhibits

It was okay. It's a large area where you can walk. But some animals were hard to see (Chita, the lions), and some places were closed off completely, so we didn't see any animals there. There's a nice big restaurant on the premises, and some good souvenirs.

Paleis Het Loo is a 17th-century palace and garden that offers guided tours of the royal apartments and houses a notable art collection. It's a massive complex that provides insight into the Dutch Royal Family, featuring an excellent cafe and a fun kids playground. The surrounding area also includes Apenheul, an ape zoo, as well as beautiful parks with stately villa neighborhoods and access to the Veluwe forest.
We visited this palace over the weekend, what a pleasant surprise! A beautiful palace, it tells a lot about the history of the kings of Holland, about the architecture. A very well preserved palace, the view from the top of the garden is a sight to behold. We loved everything, one of the best palaces we have ever visited.

The garden is precious and highly recommended to spend some time outside.
The sculptures as well as the plants and flowers are beautiful. The design of the landscape is so cool.

Arguably the most magnificent palace in the Netherlands and it is easily reachable by public transport. It's massive so you really need a full day to explore the palace AND the fabulous gardens. Everything is breathtaking!
Its a great place to visit. The tours inside the palace are nice. You can do a tour with a book so you can read from a folder you can get at the start or do an audio tour. Then the gardens are amazing especially when the weather is in your favor. Parking is close and not expensive (€8 for the day day)
Nice to see inside what furniture and style is in every room. Gardens are nice. But comparing to some other palaces and castles this one is not my top. But it is nice. What I loved is a restaurant inside where they have high tea, really nice design. And nice terrace outdoor. Plus they have some activities like archery or some other games that make you feel like you travel back in time.
The graden at the Palace is super cool. There are different types of plants, labelled. A lot of mini activities for kids for example archery.
Coming to palace itself, it was pretty awesome. A lot of rooms to explore, though some of the floors are not meant for visitors. The roof is accessible as well via a lift - and there can be queues at the lift.
Outside the palace, at the initial entrance, there are some historical artifacts to explore as well like the cars driven by the Royals and other stuff.
Would like to complement the staff, who are really nice and approachable.
Second time visiting after more than 5 years. A great destination to visit with family or friends. A great day out to visit not only the palace but also the garden, the antique cars & carriages collection and the exhibitions. Good facility for visitors such as the toilets, lockers, parking, etc.
We didn’t go inside the palace, but with such beautiful weather we didn’t mind at all. The terrace was a lovely spot to sit, and the gardens are truly worth the visit : peaceful, well kept, and full of charm.

Designer Outlet Roermond is situated in the southeastern part of the Netherlands, with a rich history dating back to Roman times. Visited here Sunday afternoon. If you want to go shopping on Sunday and you are near this area, this is the place to do it.
First, parking is €7 per visit. Not a bad deal if you are shopping multiple hours here. They have covered parking garage as well. Plenty of parking including EV charging available during my visit.
The shops located here are superb.
They have high end luxury brands as well as other well known brands offering decent discount price.
Some perks: they have many places to eat, shaded places to sit down to rest, and the visitor’s center has a free water station so you can drink water for free. And washrooms are clean and free to use also.
We spent about three hours total knowing which stores to visit/shop and the experience was simply fantastic.
We also ate at a couple of places and the price was more on the expensive side (due to the exclusive location) while food tasted quite good.
The layout of the shopping center is nicely done and “fun”, navigating around is definitely easy.
And you can tell the entire place is well maintained and clean.
The Sunday crowd seemed to be increasing in the afternoon, so I would think coming here early is a good idea.

One of the best shopping outlets I have been to. There are so many stores from probably all popular brands in this complex. The layout is easy to navigate with multiple food points, coffee shops and kiosks for snacks.
A decently large free of cost play area for kids, two minutes walk to the city center, very reasonable day parking fees, clean and free toilets on every corner make this outlet fantastic for shopping, eating out or just strolling through the great crowd. Highly recommended.

The only drawback is that on weekends it is terribly crowded, you literally have to wait in line in front of certain stores because of the excessive number of people inside at that moment.
My recommendation would be to avoid visiting on weekends or arm yourself with patience, everything else 5 star ⭐️…

Düsseldorf with a group of four friends. We booked our tickets online in advance, which made the process quick and easy. When we arrived, everything was well organized. It took about 30 minutes to get up to the observation deck, including waiting time and the elevator ride, which wasn’t too bad at all.
Once we got to the top, the view was absolutely worth it. You can see the entire city of Düsseldorf from up there, including the Rhine River, old town, and beyond. It wasn’t too crowded when we went, which made the experience more relaxing and enjoyable. We had plenty of space to take photos and enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
There’s also a nice restaurant and bar at the top. The atmosphere was calm and modern, and it’s a great spot if you want to enjoy a drink or snack while admiring the view. Prices are a bit higher, as expected for a tourist spot, but the experience makes up for it.
Overall, visiting the Rhine Tower was a highlight of our trip. I definitely recommend it for anyone spending time in Düsseldorf.

A well organised and informative trip up the tower so a well staffed viewing gallery. The drinks are well priced and there is the option to dine. It gives great views of the city in a clear day. Our visit was included in the Düsseldorf card (purchased from the tourist office - includes lots of attractions and all travel and is HIGHLY recommended).
The view over the city is beautiful especially if you catch it on a clear day. You can see Düsseldorf from above in every direction which makes it a great spot for photos and just taking in the scenery.
However, the entire viewing area is set up with restaurant tables all around the circle. While this can be nice if you want to sit, relax and enjoy the view with a drink or snack but at the same time it also can be uncomfortable when you just want to take photos. You often have to step between tables where people are sitting which can feel a bit awkward. I think it would have been better if they had left some dedicated standing/photo areas without tables.
On the positive side, it’s a lovely place to sit and enjoy the view slowly especially if you find the right table.
Overall, the tower gives a great perspective of the city and is definitely worth checking out.

Enormous industrial complex that was changed into a free tourist zone. There are some events organized here, they were even getting ready for one, when I was there, so you would assume that's a perfect example of revitalization effort. Unfortunately that's not entirely true. Yes instead of a toxic plant there is a museum and a forest, however that is also all that's here. Some of the equipment was left under the sun on its own, getting rusty and overgrown, making it look quite sad. Most of the buildings are closed down and the guided tour shows just a fraction of them. There is also no possibility to go underground inside the coal mine, to explore its history. Thinking it was the biggest one is quite a shame. Overall even though the complex makes an amazing first expression the longer you walk through it the sadder it gets. Wasted potential...
My visit to the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex was an absolutely magnificent experience. It is truly awe-inspiring to see how this former industrial behemoth has been masterfully repurposed into a vibrant cultural landscape, housing museums, exhibition centers, a university, and more. The vision required to preserve such a monumental piece of history while breathing new life into it is simply remarkable.
The sprawling 100-hectare site has been ingeniously transformed into a verdant park, with fantastic cycling and walking paths weaving through the imposing structures. This unique blend of industrial heritage and natural beauty means you can have a wonderful visit just enjoying the park, even if history isn't your main interest.
Zollverein truly offers a full day of exploration and enjoyment for the entire family. With delightful cafes, excellent restaurants, and even a casino on the grounds, it's impossible to feel a moment of boredom.
I was unfortunately pressed for time and could only spend three hours there, which was barely enough to scratch the surface. I am already planning my next trip to fully immerse myself in everything this incredible place has to offer.
A Special Tip: To truly grasp the immense scale of the complex, I wholeheartedly recommend exploring it by bike or taking one of the guided cart tours. It's an experience that is absolutely worth it!
So pleasantly surprised by this place, it is insta worth it on its own but don’t miss out on the Ruhr museum, worth getting the full ticket to see the special exhibits. Humongous place to see not only the story is the mines but the area, its people and work. Could easily spend there several hours and still not see everything. Pair with Red Dot design museum in the same complex!
Parking is free, and information offices offer maps of this former industrial area, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The map shows the locations of the various exhibitions and indicates a circular route that takes about an hour and a half to walk at a slow pace.
On Sundays when I was there, tourist trains run in the site and there are also guided tours.
The ticket offices display the prices of the different tickets. I paid €10 for the Ruhr Museum and the Portal der Industriekultur, which has a panoramic terrace.
This coal mine, began operating in 1932.
Together with the processing plant, it occupied an area of about 100 hectares.
It closed in 1986 and began its transformation into a cultural center in 1990.
A beautiful place. A huge mine listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The area around the mine is vast and green, and there's even a small playground for children. There's ample parking for cars. There's a small café on the grounds where you can enjoy a coffee or snack while waiting to enter the mine. Prices are reasonable. I recommend visiting this architectural wonder.
Surprisingly wonderful repurposing of an industrial site as a cultural centre. The juxtaposition of the buildings and metalwork with reclaiming nature is striking, and we could have easily have spent hours more wandering around than we had the time for during our visit. Easy to dismiss at a glance on the internt but remarkably affecting in person. Very glad we stopped to see it.
This made for a fascinating few hours. It's all quiet now but you can imagine the noise, heat and dust when it was operating. It has been very skilfully transformed into a coal museum and there is a large area to wander around by the coking plant.

The Cologne Cathedral is absolutely amazing and breathtaking! Its enormous size and stunning Gothic architecture make it one of the most impressive landmarks I’ve ever visited. Even though it’s often crowded, everything feels well organized, and the atmosphere remains peaceful and respectful.
It’s also right next to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station), so it’s very easy to reach — perfect for a quick stop or a longer visit. The gift shop is lovely, with nice souvenirs and books about the cathedral’s history.
I especially recommend visiting on rainy days — the interior feels even more magical and calming, with the sound of rain outside and the light coming through the stained glass windows. Truly a must-see spot in Cologne!
During our Rhine River Cruise, we came here to see this great piece of Gothic architecture. We came with our guide. Since they are not allowed inside, we saw it ourselves. It took more than 600 years to complete this magnificent Church. It was declared World Heritage Site in 1996. It is most visited landmark in Germany. More than 6 million tourist visit every year. It is the third tallest Church in the world. This medieval Church is continuously renovated.
It is very beautiful from inside. The stained window glasses and other piece of art and paintings are magnificent. It's open from 10 to 5 from Monday to Saturday and 1 to 4 on Sundays. Minimum one hour is required to see it properly. The trolley bags and other big bags are not allowed inside.

We came for the Christmas markets but were wowed by this cathedral. Absolutely stunning. It is free, which is amazing!!! We walked right in. We did pay €20 for the whole family to go up the south tower. We did not buy these ahead. It was a little tight up the stairs. 535 of them. We saw the bells and they rang when we were by them, which was cool.

The museum was amazing. I went there with a friend, and you start with an interesting information room about where cacao actually comes from and how it is harvested. When you enter, you’re also offered a few pieces of chocolate, which taste amazing.
After that, you go to an actual factory where they produce fresh chocolate, and you can get a small piece to try. It tasted amazing and smelled wonderful. You can also buy freshly made chocolate there.
At the end, upstairs, there is a nice showroom with interesting displays of old chocolate packaging.
When exiting, there is a small shop where you can buy chocolate as well. In conclusion, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

Location is convenient along the river so if one is coming from a river cruise docking, can walk over in minutes. There are a lot of people, so would recommend booking tickets ahead of time. We decided to go late and managed to get 2 of the last 3 tickets within the 2 hrs before closing. Do note that there are discount tickets closer to end of day for a reason. The stations close half an hour before the entire museum close (6pm close then 5:30pm stations are cleared). With the amount of people, it is hard to go through everything before stations stop if it’s close to closing time.
We went on a bad day: close to closing time, weekend, and a day where shops in the town are closed for All Saints’ Day, so everyone went to the museum.
The layout of the museum does not allow for multiple ways to get to different floors/rooms. There is only 1 elevator for guests to use. So it will be a long wait going between floors and stations to get any free chocolate (we got none… too long of lines and stations were closing). But overall, still a good place to visit. Would just suggest to not go late in the day but more during daytime in a non-weekend, that should make the experience more enjoyable.
I had a wonderful time at the chocolate museum. Plenty of rooms with easy-going info about the origins of chocolate, cocoa, its processing, packaging, transport, and commercialization. You can see in loco a section of a production line and taste a sample of chocolate. Also some interesting historical info on where it all began.
It is a great museum for families, kids or only adults. plenty of games and experiments for the young folks. I was so entertained that I almost forgot to take photos. If you are in town don’t miss this museum.
The entrance was guarded by a tall female staff who looked very angry and not at all welcoming.
The museum content was very extensive, curated with great detail and academic accuracy, very educational. You also get to try the milk chocolate as it was produced. We only wish there was a water fountain or at least a vending machine that sells water because the chocolates were quite rich and sweet.
The cafe staff were very attentive and hospitable, price was reasonable.
The entire experience has been most positive but was ruin at the end. I was waiting for my family who went to the washroom by the main door. The museum was closing in a few minutes, I wanted to go to the bench next to the door to put my coat on. The same tall angry female employee from the ticket entrance came to me, wouldn’t allow me a moment for coat and ask me to go out the door because “we are closing in a minute”. There were still people in the gift shop, at the coat check and coming from the bathrooms at the time. Being the only Asian female in the hall I felt unfairly targeted and discriminated.
It was in the year 2025, during Christmas, I was exploring the very famous Christmas markets in Köln. It was extremely cold and I needed some hot chocolate. There was none available in the market. So we decided to step inside the cafe and we were awestruck by their service. Even though itwas heavily crowded, we got two seats quickly and ordered their hot chocolate and banana waffle. The hot chocolate was extremely delicious, particularly with the cream on top. The waffle had one white chocolate ice cream, something that I had never tasted before and it was extremely delicious. Best part is that the prices were extremely reasonable. I would go there again and agan.
We visited the Lindt Chocolate Museum on Sunday the 23rd, and it was very busy. Luckily, Max, one of the friendly floor walkers, helped us book tickets online via QR code.
The museum was more about learning the history and process of chocolate than eating it, but there were a few tasty samples. The highlight was the wafer dipped in the chocolate fountain—absolutely delicious.
Pro tip: when you reach the machinery section, head to the right side for two sample opportunities, as most people go left. Overall, informative and enjoyable, though not quite what I expected.
For 18 euros it’s not the best value for money. There was a good amount of information to read around the museum and the chocolate making room was incredible. However, it was very busy causing a huge amount of queuing and not much chance to enjoy the experience. The free chocolates were a nice touch but for the price of admission there was very little. Gift shop at the end had lots of choice but definitely pricey.
The museum is very interesting but has however a few points for improvement that would make the experience more pleasant. I visited today (23/11/25) at 12. Firstly, for the entire duration of the tour, we couldn't find a single toilet. Maybe it was not properly signed?
At the ticket counter, the the ticket officer was unbelievably rude and rushing to pay, even though there was no queue and I was just ensuring she understood the proper time slot that I wanted. Time slots are also another big problem. Unfortunately, the same time slot is allocated to more people than it should be allowed to. This leads to queues during the tour and you can't actually enjoy the experience at its fullest. Also, the crowd is not properly managed by the personnel (for example, the queues for the entry mixes with the ones for the museum cafè and cloakroom), leading to chaos.
Neverthless, it was an enjoyable experience.

Amazing experience and a highlight when you are in Wuppertal. Just take a ride from one end to the other.
Consider checking the schedules because the Schwebebahn is often in maintenance mode.
Only runs on weekends right now. But if you keep that in mind, it's a very affordable and unique tourist attraction. Great way to see a beautiful city. Buy the all-day ticket and hop on and off. Don't forget to learn about the famous elephant who rode the train

Bahn is great fun, but pnr didnt work there it was hard to left the car
It's a very good experience for a one time ride. The trains were nice and clean. Lines are beautifully constructed over the central canal through the city. The views of the surrounding hills are also nice.
Tips: The tail end seats offer the best views. It's a bit noisy ride.
I was told about this suspension railway and recommended to try it. I joined at Kluse (one stop down from the main train station, next to the cinema) and grabbed a ticket - although cheap (only 1.70) I found the machine doesn't take credit card, so come prepared with coins.
The railway isn't big - only two carriages - but they are pretty frequent so if you miss one (or it's full), you don't have long to wait for the next. The carriages have been modernised: they're brightly-lit with clean seats that don't look worn in any way. Sitting at the back gives a good view down the river and along the roads during the trip, but as I tried it last evening in winter most of my trip was quite dark.
I travelled south-west all the way to Vohwinkel (the terminal stop) where it's possible to see the other carriages parked, so there's quite a few cars. I then grabbed the one on the other side and travelled back the other way.
Quite leisurely, a pretty smooth ride and fairly quick, given the age of the technology. Well worth the trip!

Well maintained house with a fantastic collection of attefacts that showcase Beethoven's musical journey. The tickets are a bit pricey in my opinion at €14. Go early to avoid waiting in line to buy tickets. I recommend to check it out when visiting Bonn.

In the old town of Bonn lies Beethoven's house, now a museum. Across 3 floors, you can find instruments, old manuscripts, paintings, and sculptures, and learn about how he became the legendary composer he is.
I found Beethoven-Haus to be slightly underwhelming, as it was not interactive and small—I expected at least a piano to play on. The "special exhibition" was not too special at all, as it only had abstract paintings and a small sculpture. On the bright side, the "music hall" played pieces by Beethoven and offered a place to sit and relax.
If you are a fan of his, I recommend visiting. If not, don't waste your time as it will only bore you.
I just love Beethoven's music and was delighted to visit his place of birth in Bonn and now they have made it into a museum.
A wonderful museum dedicated to Beethoven’s life and music. It’s filled with history, original manuscripts, and instruments. Walking through the rooms gives a deep sense of his journey and legacy. A must-visit for music lovers and anyone in Bonn.
Great collection of artefacts, well presented, with a very good app offering plenty of detail. 3 floors, plus a garden.
He didn't live here many years but it's the only house left where he did.
It's definitely possible to come away with a better understanding of the man.

In my opinion, it’s a calm yet impressive stop that you should definitely make time for in the city. This house-museum, where Ludwig van Beethoven was born, is not just an ordinary place where you walk through a few rooms; it offers a well-curated exhibition that neatly tells the story of the composer’s life, his era and his music. During your visit, you can take a short breather in the courtyard and then complete the experience by listening to his works in the music room.
This place tells not only about Beethoven's life story, but also his struggles, his creative process, and his resistance to illness.
There are 3 level floors and some rooms. The display of the objects are interesting. And they also have link to explain everything there.
You can buy the ticket at the store infront of the house.
It's about €14 per person. And you have to put you bags in the locker inside the store with €1 or €2 deposit.
Great place to visit in Bonn. Tour lasts around 50 minutes and you can see real partitures, objects and even personal items from Beethoven.
it was fascinating to step into Beethoven's birthplace. It was an educational trip, amazed on how the house is still well preserved. Dont forget to drop by when you are in Bonn.

Went here to watch Dortmund’s Champions League game against Bilbao and it was such a nice experience. Not a Dortmund fan so I was a neutral coming there to just enjoy the experience. The building was pretty easy to access once you’re in it but it could get confusing when you’re not sure where to enter as there are north and south entrance. Clean toilet, good beer and nice atmosphere.

Can be accessed by car, there is a parking lot next to it. If you are out of luck as we were there are additional parking spots in the city below with busses riding to the castle. You can also take one of the hiking trails that offer a lot of scenic views. The castle itself is well preserved, there is an armory to visit and a tower to see everything around. Definitely worth seeing if you are around.

Interesting castle, not the best I have seen, but quite big and equipped. Short tour thru the living quarters in the castle, bit about the Martin Luter history and nice viewing point.
Overall I expected more interesting place than it actually was.

This was well worth the entrance fee! The castle has so much fabulous history from the 12th century onwards. We enjoyed every minute of the auditory device educational experience.
Wonderful location and views from the castle. The historical tour is very interesting and the preservation and restoration of the chambers is top notch. It is also a historical site for christians, as Martin Luther started the translation to the New Testament in this castle. You can see the room in which he was working.
We visited Wartburg during the Christmas season. Getting up to the castle was quite a trek - it's a long and challenging walk uphill, so be prepared if you're not in good shape! It was also very cold and windy at the top of the mountain. The Christmas market was extremely crowded, so unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to properly explore it. We also found it a bit difficult to find the castle entrance as there weren't clear signs outside. However, the guided tour inside was excellent! The guide shared the castle's history along with interesting stories and fun facts. Before leaving, we even enjoyed some live music in the upper part of the castle.
Now that's a beautiful castle. We took the guided tour and learned a lot! It's worth taking a slow walk at the museum once the tour finishes. Sit, have a beer and a Thüringen wurst. Just lovely!

The triptych of the 3 successive electors by Lucas Cranach depicts a pivotal part of German and European history. The central position is held by Frederick the Wise, Duke of Saxony, arch marshall and elector of emperor Charles V, having refused his own candidacy. Frederick holds the vice regal crown of Germany during the absence of the emperor. His brother John (l) followed, and the latter's son John Frederick (r) fought against emperor and pope for the new church. (JF was brother-in-law to Kg Henry VIII for a short while by the Cleve sisters.)
The trekking routes around and on the way to the castle have some of the visually stunning vistas of the Thüringen wilderness. The city of Eisenach looks quite stunning along the way as well. I'd definitely recommend the trek to the castle along from the other side of another hill.

Autostadt in Wolfsburg is a must-visit destination for car enthusiasts and families alike. There are also fun play structures for kids, places to climb, huge slides, hoops, and more. And the food was great - we had some delicious pizzas and even got some souvenirs. The only downside is that the Porsche museum was closed because of a concert, and I’m a big Porsche fan, so I give it 4 stars. Objectively though 5 stars.

If you are into cars and the automotive industry then this place is for you, it has a good playground for the little ones and for food you have restaurants and a bakery. It’s near the railway station and they have a huge parking lot that doesn’t cost that much. It’s worth the visit though you’ll a good chunk of the day to cover everything.
If it is your first time you will love it. The car museum is so nice If it is your second time it is the same. I have been here in 2018 and only things that changed were the sliders for the kids/adukts near the 4 chimney and of course there are new car models but... not so much change. You pay 20€ to see the cars and touch the production ones like in a regular car store.
Museum had a good range of cars from many manufacturers. The train tour around the factory was fantastic very immersive with a lot of information and interesting detail. The team were very accommodating we had been stuck in traffic so had missed the English speaking tour however, they went out of there way to give us an English spoken tour of the factor of the factory separate to the scheduled German tour. Many thanks to the team for a great experience 👍🏻

I thought the ticket price was a bit high for what it had to offer, as I usually visit much bigger museums for that price. But this opinion comes from someone who doesn't know much about cars. If you know a lot about cars and are passionate about them, this will be your paradise.
It is close to Hanover and a great place to spend a day with the kids.
Visiting the Autostadt in Wolfsburg was such a great experience! The whole place is beautifully designed, clean, and very well organized. From the impressive car pavilions to the museum and the factory view, everything showcases the history and future of Volkswagen in a fun and interactive way. I especially enjoyed the variety of exhibitions and how much attention to detail there is throughout the park. Definitely worth visiting if you’re a car enthusiast or just want a unique cultural experience in Germany!

Definitely take a moment to walk outside and see the bridge then walk back through - really cool. This Is the most amazing zoo I've ever been to. It's so big with the kids. We could only see a portion of it, but the jungle experience especially with the boat ride was so cool. Leipzig Zoo is one of the best zoos I‘ve ever visited. Large enclosures. Many events throughout the day. Amazing infrastructure (you can find maps, sign posts, and directions for a tour that leads you through the entire zoo everywhere).
They also don’t solely focus on the animals as mere entertainment but seek to inform kids in playful ways about preservation/biology/even physics in the aquarium.
Leipzig Zoo also provides a variety of restaurants and snack bars that are evenly distributed across the entire Zoo.
I wholly recommend visiting, whether alone or with friends and family. It’s an amazing and informative experience!

This zoo park was fantastic. I would recommend this to everyone. There is so much to see and you should have water with you because food and water prices there is too expensive. WC is free which is very good. And I suggest you guys to go early there, zoo opens at 9 am and closes at 7pm. As I mentioned earlier there is lot to see so you probably will need some rest. And one good thing about this zoo park is that you see animals without any borders and it is kind of crazy but it is safe. So enjoy with your trip everyone.

Magnificent Baroque palace, initially build by August Strong as a an orangery and gardens, destroyed by the ally bombings in 1945, restored in 50s and 60s .
You can walk on the roof of the galleries and admire the beauty of it. It's open till late evening and the entrance is free.The inner garden part is currently ( as of August 2025) under renovation.
The galleries house 2 museums - one of mathematical instruments and another is porcelain gallery ( which I highly recommend).
When we were there in one of the towers a classical music concert was held. It was beautiful to listen to music in a such beautiful place.
I visited the Zwinger in Dresden and really enjoyed the experience. There is a lot to see here, and the place itself feels quite special. The architecture is impressive and honestly a bit overwhelming – you can just stand there and keep looking at all the details. Every corner has something interesting, from the buildings themselves to the sculptures and the way everything is arranged.
It was a bit crowded when I visited, but that didn’t really stop me from enjoying it. You still have plenty of space to walk around and take your time. I found myself slowing down just to notice the small details, and it was worth it.
Overall, I think it’s one of those places you shouldn’t miss if you’re in Dresden. It’s not only about seeing a landmark, but also about the feeling of being surrounded by such a unique piece of history and design.
This is an absolute must-see in Dresden.
There’s no need to explain why — just go. The palace offers much more to see than you might expect, so make sure to allow plenty of time for your visit. It’s truly worth the admission fee.

Dresden Zwinger is an absolutely beautiful place—one of those spots where you instantly feel like you’ve stepped into another century. The architecture is breathtaking, with elegant palace buildings, detailed façades and peaceful courtyards that make the whole complex feel almost magical.
It’s the kind of place where you can just stroll around, soak in the atmosphere, admire the gardens, and truly appreciate the history and beauty of Dresden. A must-see when visiting the city.
What a beautiful palace. Baroque at its best. Apparently nearly completely destroyed during world War 2 it now shines once more. Different exhibitions at the 4 wings with porcelain, old master and physics. Close to all the downtown historic buildings. In walking distance to the Frauenkirche. A definite must see.
We walked here to do something. It was pretty. We went across the street to rooftop bar pretty good view and sunset was pretty.
The Zwinger in Dresden is one of the city’s most stunning Baroque landmarks. Its elegant courtyards and ornate pavilions make it perfect for walking around and taking photos. The Old Masters Gallery, home to the “Sistine Madonna,” is a highlight, along with impressive porcelain and scientific collections. The site is well-kept, atmospheric, and beautiful both day and night. A visit truly feels worthwhile.

The Frauenkirche Dresden is a stunning Baroque church that was reconstructed and reconsecrated in 2005 after being destroyed during World War II. It is part of the magnificent architectural ensemble in Dresden, often referred to as 'The Florence on the Elbe,' which includes the Semper Opera House, Zwinger, Royal Palace, Cathedral St. Trinitatis (Hofkriche), and Castle Pillnitz.
This church is majestic and feels like a center piece of the city. The surrounding area with the church makes this place very picturesque. There is a called rubble from the past that is kept next to the church which is a nice little touch. This is definitely a must visit site in Dresden

We visited as it’s our last day, it’s pretty impressive how much money, time, and effort to rebuild all these historic buildings, including this Church of our Lady.
Inside still haven’t had much to see but still nice to visit. Free entry but if you wish to climb up to the viewing tower over 100 steps then have a fee.
This is a beautiful church that is the jewel of Dresden. I loved visiting the church as well as sitting outside in one of the many cafes and restaurants and taking in the view. Church entrance is free. It’s gorgeous inside. If you want to climb up the dome, you need to go around the back. I think it was €12 entrance. The views are great from the top. There are a good few steps going up to start and then there is a ramp around the dome which makes it far easier to ascend.
Brilliant history! In the final days of WWII, the whole city was bombed including this church which was a very important part of Dresden. Following the reunification of German, it was rebuilt using some of the original stone! The building is incredible and there is a stunning view from the top. A must visit!

It's free to walk into the main part of the church where you can see the beautiful interior, and 10€ per person to climb to the top of the church.
The stairs are pretty easy most of the way up, and up until after you finish walking up a big sloped ramp near the end you must also get up some VERY steep and skinny stairs (so beware, if you're a claustrophobe or don't like heights). But the view of Dresden is so worth it if you do it.
The magnificent Frauenkirche! When I last visited decades ago, the church was nothing but a pile of rubble—or more accurately, a heap of stones—serving as a stark reminder of the devastation of war. Reconstruction began in 1994, and on October 30, 2005, it was officially reopened.
The church hall is impressively tall and richly decorated. You can climb up to the dome, but we didn’t have time for that on this visit. I’m sure the views from up there—both into the church and across Dresden—are breathtaking.
If you only have time to visit one attraction in Dresden, I’d choose the Frauenkirche.
We came for a Mozart concert. It was fabulous. This rebuild baroque church is bright and beautifully grand. It holds around 3000 guests and is decorated with much gold and adornments.The seats were comfortable not like other old churches.it was warm and without drafts.

Bastei is a stunning rock formation located in the Saxon-Switzerland National Park, just an hour away from Dresden. It features tower-like rocks, a historic bridge called Basteibrucke, and picturesque hiking trails. The area also includes the Schwedenlocher, which were used as a safe retreat from invading Swedes 400 years ago and now serve as an exciting hiking trail with stairs, ladders, and narrow rock passages.
This was an amazing place. The geological formations here are very impressive. The bridge looks like something out of a fairytale. There are plenty of stairs involved if you want to see everything but nothing crazy. We were there late in the afternoon and the crowds had thinned out but still a bit busy. There are a bunch of shops for souvenirs, food etc. We went here as part of a day tour out of Prague.

Lovely place to enjoy the nature. Crowded however. On the other hand, few walk trials there, so don't wait but go visit the site!
It is worth going around the whole circle. Before the nearest parking lot, we turn left and go clockwise. An impressive descent of over 800 steps.
What an incredible surprise! Nestled in the middle of nowhere, this mountain/valley comes to you as a delightful revelation. Its appearance is unlike anything you’ve seen before, setting it apart from its surroundings. This is one of the most breathtaking mountain vistas I’ve ever laid eyes on. From various viewing points, you can capture the towns below and the railroads. There are multiple vantage points that offer a panoramic view of the valley, the mountain, and the bridge itself, where you’ll be standing. However, note that the site requires walking up and down, which can be challenging for those with mobility issues. Additionally, you’ll need some stamina to navigate the stairs. If you’re driving by, I highly recommend making a stop at this place.

There is two way from central station dresden take s1 (bad shandau) direction and get down at kirort rathen then around 30 minutes hiking including ferry and stairs walk. then another option is take s1(bad shandau) direction and get down pinar.then take bus 237 or 254. And ask driver will it go bastei 1 or not. then you don’t need to hiking. Really a worth exploring to visit if you come dresden.

The dramatic rock formations, sweeping views over the Elbe River, and the iconic Bastei Bridge make this spot feel straight out of a fantasy film. Everything is well-maintained, with scenic walking paths and multiple viewpoints that are easy to reach on foot.
We visited in May, and the conditions were perfect—fresh greenery, pleasant temperatures, and lighter crowds. The area is suitable for all ages, though some light uphill walking and stairs are involved.
Tips for your visit:
📍 Entry to the Bastei Bridge and viewpoints is free. The Felsenburg Neurathen ruins cost a few euros extra.
🕰️ Go early in the day or late afternoon to enjoy the views with fewer crowds.
🚗 Parking is €7 flat for the whole day, and you can easily pay using the EasyPark app, which works great and saves time.
👟 Wear comfortable walking shoes—parking is about a 15-minute scenic uphill walk from the main site.
📸 Don’t forget your camera—sunrise or sunset light makes the views even more magical.
🥪 There’s a restaurant near the main viewpoint, but if you plan to hike farther, bring snacks and water.
Whether you're into hiking, nature photography, or simply soaking up jaw-dropping views, Bastei is a must-visit gem in Saxon Switzerland.
Bastei Bridge is an absolutely stunning place to visit – around 4.5 hours from Berlin and quite easy to reach. The bridge, originally built in the mid-19th century (1851), offers some of the best panoramic views in the region. You can see the river and surrounding rock formations from the top – it’s truly breathtaking.
It is a popular spot, so expect crowds, especially during peak times. If you’re not up for hiking, there’s also a bus that can take you very close to the site, which is convenient.
Nearby, we found a lovely place that served excellent local beer – the Dunkel beer was a highlight and definitely worth trying!
Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone who enjoys scenic landscapes with a touch of history.

It's not a place you want to star rate, but it has been well
preserved and open to the public to recount, in a small way, the abhorrent conditions the Czech Jews had to endure. Important for as many people to visit and appreciate that this must never happen again.

Really sad to get to know the past and how was life or surviving in a place like this, the entrance was about 10€ per person, there are toilets for free inside, don't miss the cinema, it shows a movie of about 20 minutes where you can get most of the information and history for free as well and it was translated in English.
If you’re planning a visit to the Terezín Memorial, I highly recommend making an online reservation in advance. While there are a few basic informational signs scattered around the site, most of the historical context and stories require a guided explanation to truly understand the significance of what you're seeing.
The admission ticket includes a guided tour, but you must book it online beforehand through their official website. Several language options are available, making it accessible for international visitors.
There is a small kiosk within the site that offers vending machines, and the town has a few grocery stores. However, it’s a good idea to bring your own light meal and drinking water for the visit, as options on-site are limited.
Also, make sure to set aside time to visit the other museums in town. The ticket to the concentration camp also grants you access to several important museums in the town of Terezín, and they are absolutely worth seeing. These museums provide essential context and help paint a fuller picture of the site's history.
My nephew as me about Auschwitz when we were in Germany so we drove there the following week. As I read on the Internet that we need to reserve as we won’t get in, that was false, the free entrance are limited and need to be reserved but the tour in your language happens every couple hours or so and with many language, of it is 70€ but to really get the feeling and understanding of the place, I think you need the guided tour. Our guide was not that enthusiastic but I guess this is in their mantra. Her English was good for conversation but maybe a bit lacking for this kind of guiding but this did not bother the group I was in. For some reason I was expecting more from what everyone I know who have been there where telling me about the feeling and all but maybe I just been to too many of similar place when I was in the military… definitely recommend to go there with your younger members of the family so that we never forget and don’t let the Israelis repeat the same thing now with the Palestinians
A must visit, worth the day trip from Prague. We booked the tour online in advance but they didn’t even check the reservation. The guided tour was nice, if you don’t do it I’m not sure how you’d get information on the buildings as there is very little signage. They do run 4 or 5 tours at the same time, just in different languages. This means it’s quite crowded. It would be better if they staggered the times. They offer tours in many languages, and your entrance ticket here works in numerous other sights throughout the town as well.

Events that happened here shouldn't be forgotten. I appreciate how places like these remind us to never let these things happen again.
Although, Theresienstadt wasn't really an extermination camp it reminds us of how much suffering humans can inflict on one another.
