Kynance Cove, located just a mile away from mainland Britain's most southerly point at Lizard Point, offers a stunning blend of natural beauty. With its inky black cliffs, rust-red serpentine rocks, and offshore islands to explore, this National Trust-owned coastal area is a popular destination for visitors. The cove features white sands and an aquamarine sea surrounded by ancient rock stacks of green and red stone.
Beautiful cove. Get there when tide is out as you can access the two sides and coves, plus you can access the caves. If driving, make sure you get there before 11ish as car park fills up. Car park managed by national trust who are friendly and full of information. 2 ways down and up. One us a path all the way. The other is path, steps and rocks. Cafe is good. Shaded areas plus deckchairs. Toilets available. Views amazing. Water clear.
Diddlyism I — Google review
Kynance Cove is absolutely spectacular. The water is a beautiful mix of blue and green, the rock formations are incredible to climb and admire. There are also caves to explore. The most important thing is - CHECK TIDE TIMES before you go! The cove completely changes with the tide. When it’s out, you can reach the second part of the beach with all the amazing rocks and caves. The best time to go is around the lowest tide point (you can find this easily by Googling “Kynance Cove tide times”). The best time to arrive is about 30–60 minutes before low tide is shown online. That’s when access to both beaches is possible. The tide starts to come back after about 2h ( from the time it was at it is lowest point) and can quickly cut off access to the caves and second beach. People are often swimming and playing in the water completely unaware that the tide is coming in, as this is not visible from every side of the beach. When a tide chart says for example- “High tide 3:30pm,” that’s the peak. The water starts rising about 3hours before that covering more land, so you have to be careful not to be cut off by the tide.
Dorota K — Google review
Absolutely stunning views as you walk down to the beach, worth stopping just to take it all in. The walk down (and back up!) is a bit of a hike, so wear comfy shoes, but the beach itself is peaceful and beautiful. A great spot if you don’t mind the climb.
Ana C — Google review
Speechless, the descent is doable for most (not like the climb down to Lantic bay if that helps) once you reach the bottom it’s nothing but small to large smooth rocks so good shoes and confident footing helps. Once the tide is out the beach is exposed which leads to another world of coves, caves and water perfect for swimming when the waves aren’t crashing in on a rough day. Go for it, you won’t regret! (Toilets available at the car park)
Miss D — Google review
Simply stunning and unique (but time your visit to avoid the crowds) Probably the most beautiful beach in the UK - but get there early! We arrived about 9.30am, it was fairly quiet, parking was easy (parking is cash or Ringo). The walk down was fun - less so if you have prams as it’s rocky but my 5 year old coped well - it takes less than ten minutes. We were taken aback by the view as you approach the shoreline, its stunning - with white sand and warm, clear sea. We loved exploring the different sections of beach as well as the caves and inlets. It was relatively quiet and we had large sections of water and sand to ourselves (some of the small beaches we did actually have to ourselves). We had drinks at the cafe, which had plenty of outdoor seats and no queue. However, once the tide came in around midday/1pm and closed off a large section of beach it became very loud and crowded. We left around this time, with lots of people only just arriving - on our way back to the car we turned to see the cove … which was now absolutely rammed and did not look fun!

I visited Kynance Cove on Friday 8 August 2025 with my partner and three children. I drove in from Lizard Point Holiday Park which is only a ten minute drive away. It is signposted and easy enough to find the carpark. To experience the full beauty of this beach and to make a day of it I would recommend visiting on a day when it is low tide as this is a tidal beach. The low tide was around 11.30am during my visit with high tide around 5pm so this was the perfect day to visit. You can google the tide times. I would also recommend arriving early and being prepared to avoid the masses. On arrival staff were directing people on where to park in an organised fashion. There is the main carpark then a large overflow carpark with ample spaces to park and you are directed where to park on busy days during peak times. I paid five pounds for up to four hours. It is ten pounds for up to eight hours and free to park if you are a member of the national trust. You would need your NT card to scan. It is cash only or download the Just Park app before you arrive as the signal is hit and miss here. There are toilets on the main carpark and toilets down at the cafe on the beach. The beach is located about a ten minute walk from the carparks with staff to assist anyone with questions. The main route down to the beach is not suitable for prams or beach trolleys. After a few minutes there are steps to navigate and on entrance to the beach it is rocky and uneven. I advise to have a rucksack or suitable bag and to to take it easy with children. Its hard going on the way back up especially if its a hot day. It is well worth it though. The views on the way down are stunning and reveals the full beauty of Kynance Cove. When at the bottom you are surrounded by beautiful serpentine cliffs and rocks which splits the beach up into different sections with different parts of the sea to go in if you wish to. The sea is turquoise and its such a picturesque beach. There is plenty of rockpools and caves for the children to play in and there are plenty of areas to set up on the sand. Its a beautiful place and gives you the feeling you are secluded on a secret beach that only reveals itself at certain times. This beach is not lifeguarded and the tide can come in very quickly and if unaware you could become trapped in areas but people were aware of this when I was there. There is signage to make people aware. There is a mermaid pool at the far end of the beach where some of the adults were jumping into from around 25 feet by climbing up a rock. It is well known for this. The access to this is quite tricky with younger children as you have to wade through the sea at around three feet deep and next to the cliffs it can be quite rough with the waves crashing onto them. There is a cafe located a couple of minutes walk up uneven terrain at the entrance to the beach. It sells ice cream and other food such as chips etc and the toilets are located near to the cafe with a little shower outside. The cafe are helpful with any allergies and will try to offer options. They seemed educated on coeliacs as my daughter is a coeliac. They offered her ice cream separate from the back to avoid cross contamination. The tide came in quick and we spent three and a half hours on the beach before the trek back up. It is well worth the visit to this famous cove and the views and scenery are beautiful. There are also coastal walks you can do and some people seemed to be arriving later to do this as all of it will be submerged at high tide. On exiting the carpark it can be quite tight due to how the staff pack the cars in but we had no problems.
Daniel A — Google review
The national trust car park is open all hours so perfect for late evening/early morning visits, plenty of parking spaces available within the main car park and overflow. Kynance Cove itself is stunning and one of the highlights of our Cornwall trip. Such a nice place to swim, or have a scenic coffee break. Some nice coastal walks surrounding the area, with pathways to Lizard point.
Oliver H — Google review
We all loved this Cove. It was on my daughter's bucket list to do. While we were on holiday in Cornwall. The café was very busy but very well run.

Gallery Anthony

Points of Interest & Landmarks
A really special experience! The artwork was fantastic. We met Anthony himself and had a lovely chat with him - he gave some of the artists in our party some amazing tips. We bought one of his original pieces and a few prints. A must visit for any art lovers!
J1 — Google review
Had some absolutely beautiful paintings from a range of different artists. Many with smaller prints, copies and cards. The woman who served me was wonderful and helped and showed the page quality when choosing a sketch book. There’s definitely something for everyone there, in artwork and also art supplies. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!
Rhys — Google review
Lovely little art shop! Lots of amazing pieces and quite reasonably priced too. We ended up buying a print, as we like to support local businesses. Looks great in my home.😊
Chloe — Google review
My wife and I have been coming here for many years, and since our daughter was born, she has accompanied us and Anthony and Marjorie have given her art lessons - Marjorie has also taught my wife to create 3D gel pictures. We have a collection of prints, originals and copies which look superb at home. The gallery itself is open and inviting and Anthony and Marjorie are so warm and friendly - they are very accommodating and will spend time with customers explaining their work and showing how they achieve the results. Cannot recommend enough.
Ron C — Google review
We stumbled across this Gallery completely by accident and how glad I am that I did. The art work was stunning and I could have spent a very long time walking round. My husband is a pencil artist and he spoke with Anthony about branching out into colour work. Received some great advice and bought the materials he needed at a really good price. We had gone to the gallery with our 4 children and while this has caused a negative reaction in numerous shopkeepers / business owners over the years this was not the case at all. My children were treated as people with kindness, consideration and compassion. Their questions answered and their small purchases processed with politeness and equal gravitas to any adult. My only wail is that we didn't know the Gallery was there sooner! We had driven past multiple times. The place is an absolute gem and deserves a very large sign out the front. If you are looking to take something home from Cornwall to remind you of your trip, then you need to visit this gallery because what you will find inside is a far cry from what we found everywhere else. Thank you for the time that you took with us. It is appreciated. :)

I have just purchased my third painting from Anthony. I am really pleased with the colours to complement my decoration. It is a pleasure to visit Gallery Anthony , there is always something new to view at the Gallery. Here's hoping for a successful season Anthony & Majorie.
Simon R — Google review
We visited Gallery Anthony in 2015 and attended a class led by Anthony showing us how to use Caran D'Ache crayon to create a moonlit seascape. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned a lot. We left feeling inspired to be more creative and I have continued to use watercolour and the crayons ever since to create paintings and family greetings cards. Well worth a visit and what a lovely patient and inspiring teacher Anthony is!
Paul C — Google review
We have several of Anthony's paintings and had one commissioned especially for our 25th wedding anniversary, a black and white seascape which is amazing. He is so talented and we can't rate his work highly enough

Coffee shop
Nestled right by the stunning Poldhu Beach, Poldhu Beach Cafe & Shop is a modern haven for beachgoers and locals alike. This charming spot serves up organic coffee and light bites, making it an ideal stop after a day of sun and surf. The cafe is particularly famous for its indulgent hot chocolates, perfect for warming up after a brisk winter walk along the coast.
Absolutely stunning beach nice access and stunning from the minute you descent down the road to the car park. Cafe sells great coffee and pasties what more could you want. Toilet facilities in the car park too
Emma P — Google review
Bought a coffee from the horse trailer, friendly and welcoming staff. Serving Cornish coffee. The shop itself offers a variety of food, drinks and the usual beach shop accessories. Picnic tables outside for patrons to use.
Ian B — Google review
I’m honestly sad and sickened by how I was treated over something as small as an alcohol-free cider. I ordered the cider knowing it was alcohol-free — that wasn’t the issue. The problem was that it just tasted terrible. I gave it a fair shot, but I couldn’t finish it. I politely asked if I could exchange it for something else (even something cheaper), or just get a refund, and was told flat-out no. No empathy, no offer to help, just a cold, “we can’t do that.” For a drink I clearly wasn’t enjoying, that I wasn’t asking to return unopened or untouched — just swap it for something else. I wasn’t being difficult, just human. It’s incredibly frustrating to spend money somewhere that doesn’t care whether or not you walk away satisfied. A simple act of kindness or flexibility would’ve gone a long way. But apparently, once they have your money, that’s the end of the conversation. Disappointed is an understatement.
Jacob W — Google review
Great place for brunch, especially the bacon baps. Good oat latte as well...and hot chocolate. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Nice range of branded goods in their little shop. I bought a great sweatshirt today and my wife got a really nice bobble hat. We love Poldhu beach, especially for swimming at sunset.
Nick H — Google review
Amazing little café right on Poldhu beach. All seating is outdoors on benches, so you’re right by the sand with a stunning view. Coffee is excellent and it’s a perfect spot to relax by the sea.
Tanya M — Google review
Nice cafe situated next to the beach at Poldhu. Selection of drinks, cakes and small meals available. Slightly disappointed with the coffees, as they all tasted the same (despite ordering different versions between us). Cakes looked good and the biscoff brownie was superb. Lovely place when the sun is out.
Richie C — Google review
Always a great reception from the warm & friendly staff. A good selection of food & drinks - although they do provide a Small vegan range, if they had a couple more options it would be spot on. (*My wife & son are vegan due to food intolerance) They provide a decent sized seating area by the café or you've got the beach to sit on. Also, they're open 363 days of the year! 👌
Codey W — Google review
The strangest thing happened today. After a few great visits in the past, with no complaints, today we were virtually alone on the beach and when we got to the cafe only two tables were taken. One had already been served. The other ordered after us. We ordered two portions of chips and they never came. After 30 minutes we got a refund and left hungry. Puzzling and frustrating.

There is also a well equipped modern HF amateur radio station on site, and a desk where kids can practice sending morse code.

Fantastic place, got to check website yo catch it open but volunteers are superb guides and really learned a lot about the first International wireless transmission in the world, sent from Cornwall to St John's in Newfoundland.... 👍

Small but fine museum of a little-known pioneer! Super committed staff explain patiently and precisely. It's unbelievable what a 22-year-old engineer was able to achieve back then!

Very interesting, plenty of interactive games, the volunteers love their job it overflows with enthusiasm.

A must visit for anyone who has an interest in Communication history. They're open from 1.30pm and is run by volunteers from the local Ham Radio Club. They're all keen to show you around and you can donate or buy a souvenir of your visit. It is free entry. The Marconi Centre rents from National Trust who own the site. There is an excellent beach to visit afterwards at the bottom called Poldhu cove with golden sand and rock pools.
David D — Google review
Very informative visit ran by volunteers. Not open everyday, so check before you go . Free entry , just a donations box . Had a good hour reading and trying out more code.

Lovely location and very interesting. Local radio hams run the museum and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Suggest check it is open for full experience but worth a visit to see where it all kicked off at the beginning of the 20th C and now we're getting signals from deep space.

Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach is a popular destination with families and surfers alike. The south-facing beach offers good facilities such as lifeguards, toilets, refreshments, parking, and disabled access. It's also known for its calm waters and opportunities for surfing. Additionally, visitors can explore nearby caves and rocks or search for lost Spanish treasure at Dollar Cove.
This is a very nice sandy beach, surrounded by impressive rocky ramparts. I love the way the river sweeps in front the centre to one side before meandering into the sea. It's great for dogs to run around and have fun.

Always enjoy visiting here , we live in north Cornwall so like to come down to the lizard peninsula when we can . Bit windy on our visit but doesn't takeaway how stunning it is . Easy access to the coast path from here. NT carpark and toilets , gorgeous little chuch on the beach almost

Lovely coves. National Trust cafe, delicious. Lovely coastal walks.

We came here yesterday and we really enjoyed our time at the beach. The water was quite calm when we came in but it started to get a bit more wavier. They have 2 beaches one is dog friendly which is great. The beach is guarded so you will feel safe. The beach is a combination of sand and small rocks. This is a surfers go to place. Nice clean bluish water. There is also a small are to trek so you can have the best of both.

The Loe is a picturesque lake situated in the Penrose Estate, covering an area of approximately 50 hectares. The lake is surrounded by trees, farmland and boasts a small beach. A leisurely walk around the lake offers stunning scenery with safe paths for both dogs and children. However, during winter months, the return journey along the lake's pathways can be muddy and requires waterproof walking shoes or wellies due to thick mud in certain areas.
Lovely walks around The Loe where you can see the stunning views of it. National trust paths and cafe with toilets near by.

One of the best walks we've found in Cornwall. Safe for dogs, and children; stunning scenery. Easy, mostly flat walk.

A beautiful peaceful walk with stunning scenery. From Penrose carpark to the beach and around the lake back to the carpark. The return journey along the lake pathways is very muddy in winter and you do need waterproof walking shoes or wellies as mud can be quite thick in places. One of the best walks we've done so far

A beautiful unspoilt area, free if any commercial activity. Accessed by foot from Highburrow or the Coast Path. But swimming, fishing etc are strongly discouraged due to unpredictable tidal activity.

Gwithian Beach, located in St Ives Bay, is known for its friendly surf school and excellent facilities including heated changing rooms, toilets, and showers. The beach stretches over four miles across the bay with the best views at the northeastern end near Gwithian where the Godrevy Island lighthouse can be seen. Lifeguards are stationed to ensure safety while convenient car parks and charming cafes like Hungry Horsebox and Rockpool add to its appeal.
Huge beach, great views, touch on the windy side, lots of parking, coastal walk options, can’t complain

Beautiful beach with lots of rock pools and natural pools to jump into. Toilets are currently closed. Lots of port a loos in place. Lovely cafes for food and drinks.

Gwithian Beach is an absolute gem! Stretching for miles with golden sand and rolling waves, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a day by the sea. One of the best things about it is how dog friendly it is – our four-legged friend had the time of their life running along the shoreline and splashing in the surf. The beach feels wonderfully open and spacious, so even when it’s busy there’s plenty of room to find a quiet patch. The views across to St Ives Bay are stunning, especially at sunset, and the dunes behind the beach are lovely to explore too. Whether you’re here for a walk, a surf, or simply to relax and take in the fresh sea air, Gwithian has it all. A truly special place and one of the best beaches in Cornwall – we can’t wait to go back!
Jason O — Google review
What an absolutely beautiful beach! Super clean, dog friendly to the left of the steps that lead down. Lots of people learning to surf, body board and enjoying the water. The Jam Pot cafe, Sunset Surf just 2 close by places for food and refreshments. Life guards operate during the day and a relatively large car park just above beach. Super views that impress year upon year. England has some beauty that's for sure.
Ian F — Google review
A wonderful sandy beach - and enormous - both in width and length (it's over 3 miles long!). You will never have a problem finding a space on the beach for your family to enjoy their time here, even during the most popular times of the year. When the sun is shining and the sea spray hangs in the air, you get some stunning, dazzling views down the shore line (bring some sunglasses!). Also a fantastic place for surfing - whether you're experienced or just starting out.

Love this beach, been coming here since i was a young kid, im 40 now, and now my kids love coming here, brings back so many memories from when my nan and grandad use to take me there, has to be my favourite place to go to, always be my special place 🖤🤍

Very nice beach with clear water. The tide does go out quite far though so you have to walk out very far to get to the water. The waves are also very large, which makes body boarding and surfing very fun
Joshua Y — Google review
Absolutely stunning beach! Soft golden sands, crystal clear sea, backdrop of rolling sand dunes, its our favourite beach in the world! Amazing sunsets too 💕
Kelly W — Google review
Amazing beach!! This beach stretches around 3 miles and forms part of Godrevy Beach which as my review on that one, if you’re a lover of Sunsets then this is the place to come! Personally I’ve not found a better beach anywhere. Some of the ones in North Devon and on the far Welsh coast get close, but no cigar I’m afraid. As for parking, slightly tricky one as the holiday sites tend to run along this one but you could park up near the Sunset Cafe or there’s a large car park near the Bluff Inn, then you have beach access via a ramp and steps. If you’re into your outdoor photography then this place is heaven.
Gareth T — Google review
Walked down the full length a few times which is a decent walk. Got absolutely soak on one occasion. Lots of caves to explore and stacked rocks near the back of the beach.
Chris J — Google review
Absolutely stunning beach and nature reserve. Been on incredible adventures and enjoyed plenty of holidays near here.

Stunning beach. 3 miles long, lovely white soft sand. Can be quite windy, but a great place to be for the day when the sun is shining. There are a few alcoves where you can stay out of the wind, and it’s patrolled by RNLI. A couple of cafes dotted around but this is quite a remote beach, so best to take your own supplies (or be prepared to walk a decent stretch to get to the cafe).

Gorgeous stretch of natural sandy beach, popular for water sports. Due to its general inaccessibility, it is usually lightly used. I think there's a life guard hut on the cliffs over looking the beach, but no actual lifeguards on the beach. There's a small pay and display car park, privately owned, along a very rough track at the end of Sandy Lane. Better pay and display car parking is available at the council owned Gwithian Towans Long Stay one by Gwithian beach, close to the Sunset Surf Cafe.

Visitors can get up close with a diverse range of creatures including parrots, penguins, red pandas, donkeys, red squirrels, Asian otters, mini donkeys, pygmy goats, rabbits and guinea pigs.
If you're a lover of wildlife like my wife and I then you'll live this place. Plenty to see and do, the shows and feedings were reallt enjoyable and the staff were all very friendly. We went on a mixed day weather wise but still enjoyed our visit very much. Would love to retirn in future. We were holidaying in Cornwall so if you are, make the most of it and visit as it is a really great place

A great way to spend a couple of hours, so many birds to look at as well as couple of other animals like red pandas and donkeys, plenty to keep kids entertained with various play areas. Each member of staff we spoke to were either highly knowledgeable or very happy and easy to speak to. On the entry desk was a woman I think called Angie (I may be wrong) but she was incredibly happy and very funny. I'd highly recommend for any animal/ bird lovers or families with small kids

Highly recommend! We visited as nostalgia for my partner from when he was a child and took our two young children under 5. All the birds seemed happy and well looked after. We managed to plan the day around feedings and made time for lunch in the gap between feeds and soft play which my toddler loved! It's also really handy that they sell spare socks as I was wearing sandals on that particular visit and hadn't brought spare to help my little boy around the soft play. Food options looked good and affordable too! Will be visiting next summer for sure.

What a sweet afternoon out at paradise park, we took advantage of the online offer and the journey was easy to get to by car with lots of signs. The staff were friendly at reception and my children were really excited throughout the afternoon. The atmosphere was calm and we didn’t feel rushed. We went on a busy day in August, even though the shows had lots of spectators, the park seemed spacious for everyone and this did not distract from our day. The range of birds were magnificent and we especially loved the Red pandas. The keepers were very knowledgeable and you could see that the enclosures were clean and the animals were calm. The play barn slides were a huge hit and great to cool off. There was a great range of toilets and open pathways for disabled access or pushchairs. We really enjoyed our visit and I would recommend visiting.

Amazing place. Small but spent 5 hours there. The animal conservation efforts are outstanding, the talks are informative, the rangers were fantastic. Shout out to Archie. The kids loved it. Soft play and picnic areas only add to it. Highly recommend

Really good. Thought it would be an hour walk around and a little boaring ,but was pleasantly surprised. Was there for around 3/4 hours. The birds of prey show was really impressive and very informative. The kids didn't t moan they got board whilst we were there either, which they usually do so it must of been good. Cafe was a bit steep so we went to eat somewhere else but the whole experience was amazing. Would definitely go again. 😊

Such a beautiful and well thought out park. You never go more than a few steps without a bench being handy for a break which was perfect for elderly family member that came with us. The only thing you pay extra for was the train, which was a small fee and well worth it for the lovely tunnel of lights. They have every type of bird and lots of events to attend throughout the day with different animal feedings and bird shows. We didn't make it inside the soft play as there was so much to see but its a great addition for if theres a shower. There were several different places for the kids to play as well as farm animals to feed which is always a hit. We had the best day here, all the staff were really friendly and the park was so well looked after. We will be back again!

"Absolutely loved our visit to Paradise Park in Hayle, Cornwall! The wildlife sanctuary is home to over 1,200 birds, including parrots, eagles, and flamingos, as well as adorable red pandas, otters, and harvest mice. The park's dedication to conservation and education is evident. We also enjoyed the animal feedings and shows, including the otter feeding time and free flying bird display. Overall, Paradise Park is a fantastic day out for all ages, offering something for everyone. Rating: 5/5 stars.

St. Ives Bay is a picturesque crescent bay that boasts a long sandy beach and is home to several charming villages as well as the iconic Godrevy Lighthouse. The bay stretches for three miles from the Godrevy lighthouse to the Hayle river mouth, encompassing a series of beautiful beaches such as Godrevy, Gwithian, Mexico Towans, and Hayle Towans which connect at low tide.
If you are in Cornwall then St. Ives a must! Why? Come and see and if you manage to avoid crowds of tourists (possible), you will love this town and everything it has to offer. However, before you get here, you will probably admire St. Ives Bay is a postcard place.

Lovely bay with four separate beaches. Lots of accommodation and a lot of authentic shops, bars and cafes. Parking is a bit limited and this is a very busy town with tourists.

One of the best beaches in the UK. If you are a surfer or someone interested in exploring surfing you shouldn't miss this beach. I had my first surfing experience and I loved it. You can rent a surf board of your choice and a bodysuit for an affordable price. Note - Plan your parking if you are driving as this place doesn't have plenty of parking spaces. There is a small private parking lot near the beach but you may not get a bay easily.
Karthika R — Google review
Crystal clear beaches, amazing scenery. We visited at the end of May and got full sunshine throughly our visit. This beach is the busiest along the coastline, as it has a mini high street on Fort St. which is a 2 minute walk from the beach. Plenty of restaurants to choose from unlike other beaches nearby. I would advise getting the local train or public transport service to the area, as parking is limited.
M D — Google review
Travelling to St Ives by train from St Erth you can enjoy the Coastal views. Eating a Cornish Pastie and having a coffee on the seafront dodging seagulls. I really love St Ives.
Stephen J — Google review
Lovely beach. You can rent wet suits and surfboards at the kiosk and the waves are wonderful. Seems to be a very popular place for it. The beach goes on for a few miles around the coast so there is lots of bandwidth for walks or just relaxing on the beach. I hope to return again as I loved this beach.

Carbis Bay Beach is a picturesque and sheltered sandy beach located just a short drive from Riviere Sands caravan park and east of St Ives. It is the most protected among the sandy beaches along the coast, making it ideal for families with young children due to its calm waters, perfect for swimming. The beach stretches about a mile and boasts stunning views of turquoise waters and sub-tropical plants.
Fantastic beach, beautiful sand and clear blue water. Gentle seas are perfect for swimming and younger children, but still a few waves to keep it interesting. At low tide a ship wreck is visible and you can walk around it and you can also paddle around to the next beach - which you can also get to on the coast path. Food, drink and facilities behind the beach, but they can be pricey due to the location. You pass Carbis Bay on the coast path and St Michael's Way pilgrimage footpath. Both routes you can follow for a while if you want to... Or you can just relax on this magical beach.
Kevin K — Google review
Fantastic view! It's worth the taking the coast trail from St Ives. This trail walk also provides very beautiful views of the coast. It's easy to manage for even normal people. Beach is very clean and surreal. There is cave kind of structure at one end of the beach, you can peep inside (not recommended to enter). Train station is just around the corner. So, it's easy to catch the train back to St Erth from here, instead of catching it from St Ives.

Carbis Bay Beach is absolutely stunning – the perfect spot to truly feel the essence of summer! The golden sand, clear turquoise water, and breathtaking views make it a dream destination for anyone looking to relax or explore. It’s not just a beach, it’s a wonderful touristic place where you can soak up the sun, take refreshing swims, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Cornwall. The area feels peaceful yet lively, with plenty of nearby cafes and activities to make the day unforgettable. A true gem where summer really comes alive – highly recommended! 🌞🌊

Gorgeous wide expanse of clean, fine white sand - perfect for sandcastle building and sand sculpting! Strong winds and big waves when we visited so worth taking windbreaks and warm layers, even on a sunny day. We parked - free after 4pm - in the car park at the top of the hill. Steep descent to the beach; not accessible and a tough hill climb for myself, as an able asthmatic on the way back. Well worth it though: we'd definitely go back.

Great little private museum full of local artefacts, especially local items, to St Ives. Also, various videos are running about the local history and pottery. Plan a visit. it's not just for the wet days when out. Recommended better value than the Tate Modern.

Such a wonderful museum all about St Ives. A great place to spend a few hours especially on a rainy day. Really enjoyed it and the staff are lovely.

Very interesting place showing a lot of local history. Only £5 for adults to go in. The museum was originally the seaman's mission, so the building itself is great to look around. Disabled access via a stair lift, so not suitable for someone who is unable to transfer. The ladies were very knowledgeable and helpful. Great on a day like today we're the weather is a little wild.

A gem! So many interesting collections and we loved learning about the cultural history of St Ives as well as about the industries there. Great little cats activity for younger kids too. Thanks to Eddie and the other volunteer guide (sorry his name escapes me) for making the visit so warm and welcoming. A must visit whatever the weather!
Katie K — Google review
Lovely museum slightly off the beaten track. Decent admission price of £5. Children free. Slight problem for one of our party were the stairs to enter, leave and visit one of the floors of exhibitions. Lots to see. New exhibitions from our last visit a couple of years ago. Good couple of hours spent learning about St Ives history. Recommend.
Sonia B — Google review
Nicely presented and interesting selection of memorabilia, from all areas of the history of St Ives. Staff were lovely and encouraged the children to do little activities that they had set up for the holidays. £5 Entry for adults and children are free.
S E — Google review
This was my first time visiting the St. Ives Museum and I really enjoyed it, down stairs is exhibitions of Farming, Mining, Fishing and processing of fish, with some very informative videos. Upstairs is more local history items showing life in Cornwall and its strong ties to the Sea. They had a gest exhibition of local artists that was a real bonus, but they regularly have such gest exhibitions. We didn't have to queue to get in and admittance was a very reasonable £5. The entrance is up a flight of stairs but for those who are disabled or can't manage stairs there is a ground floor entrance that leads to a chairlift, so all good. Really nice museum that if the weather was not so good for us adults you can easily kill half a day just by looking, reading and watching everything.

Porthgwidden Beach Cafe is a charming restaurant located in a small and sheltered bay between St Ives The Island and its picturesque harbor. With its sizable terrace offering beach views, the cafe provides a relaxed atmosphere where visitors can enjoy Mediterranean, British, and Asian flavors. The menu features tapas-style small plates including Newlyn crab nachos, Cornish mussels, and Tuscan-style pizzas.
I was really debating between four and five stars on this one though in the end I chose the latter. The reason is that in my opinion food is the most impactful on a review. Though over all the staff was lovely and had a nicely themed environment. The lady who served me was extremely friendly and polite. For example we were all planning on getting a crab sandwich with I side of chips but she informed us that the crab sandwich would already have a small portion of chips instead of just letting us buy extra which of course would result in a higher cost. Overall very nice place definitely would come again.

Fantastic beach side - more than a cafe - serving lovely food. Very friendly and welcoming. We had a selection of dishes - Crab Taco, Garlic Prawns, Mussels with fries and beautifully soft bread and really creamy butter!
Andrew M — Google review
Nice place on Porthgwidden Beach, had a lovely table with a beautiful off the beach and beyond. Apart from the burger which looked dry and overcooked the food was pretty good and served generous portions. The service was OK, nothing special and felt a bit rushed to get us to leave after we just finished our meal. A bit of improvement around service and teach the kitchen how to make a decent burger then they’ll be on to a winner!
Scott B — Google review
We come across this Beach Café by chance, it's tucked away down the beach approach just off the St Ives - Island car Park. Got to say the drive to and from the car park was tight and through the town, but we managed to squeeze down the tight roads in our Ford Ranger. The Porthgwidden Beach Café was a lovely unexpected jewel, we were greeted by the staff and seated at the lovely window table overlooking the bay. The food choice was just what we expected, and the quality was 2nd to non, we both had the fish and chips, which was great quality and taste. The service was extremely quick, and the staff where really friendly, giving us advice on the scenery and where we should visit. All in all I will give this place a 5/5 for food, service and a friendly atmosphere. We will definitely save this as a favourite for when we return back to Cornwall.

Well .. it was our 1st wedding anniversary & needless to say we had to go back to where we had our wedding breakfast mealy , only the two of us instead of the 3o one year ago this time round .. & what a joy ( cheaper too , lol ) , great views just as before & made relaxed .. quick catch up with 'Will' (plus others) & food ordered , service although a different waitress was second to none .. amazing food & 1st steak since being in town for the week , excellent perfectly cook & the lemon sole too . Wined Dined & Reminisced , fab evening & we'll be going back for sure ... why shouldn't we the food alone is enough.

St Ives Harbour is a charming and historic fishing port in Cornwall, UK. The harbor bustles with activity as fishing boats come and go, creating a picturesque scene for tourists to enjoy. Visitors can explore the sandy beach that stretches along the harbor, lined with small stores and fish 'n' chip spots. During low tide, colorful beached fishing boats create a vibrant display along the shore.
Stunning location, we did the park and ride (on train) from St Erth. Hassle free and beautiful views of Hayle beach and Carbis Bay. It’s a short walk into town, you can stay low or else you can climb up a hill and drop into town. There are lots of shops and places to eat, both street food and restaurants. Book ahead though because it’s busy. We took the Blue Thunder boat tour and saw some seals (would highly recommend)

Well it’s a very quaint harbour . St Ives is a very busy place even out of season . If you want to park , get here early. It is a very photogenic place and has very aggressive seagulls . The harbour front is awash with pubs and coffee shops and the town is full of nice little artisan shops . Including Joe Downs , who makes the most amazing things out of glass . Her copper fish are my personal favourite. Enjoy your stay , be patient with the townsfolk who have to have deliveries to bring the food, drink and all the other things you will buy.

I recently visited St Ives and it honestly felt like stepping into another world. On a sunny day, it’s like being transported to a foreign country – the sparkling turquoise sea, golden sands, and stunning scenery are simply breathtaking. The town itself has such a charming, welcoming atmosphere, with its winding streets, independent shops, and plenty of spots to sit and take it all in. Whether you’re strolling along the harbour, relaxing on the beach, or enjoying a drink with a view, everything about St Ives feels amazing. It’s one of those places that leaves you in awe and makes you want to return again and again.

Absolutely beautiful spot for a little rest and a bite to eat, parking is none existent so I wouldn’t even attempt driving down in to the town. I’d recommend parking up by the leisure centre and taking the 10 minute walk down the hill. Parking is £7 for 4hrs or £11 for the day.

Best beaches anywhere! Lots of interesting shops and small art galleries to visit. Not a place to drive around as roads very narrow so walking is essential and this can be steep at times but that does mean great views.

Nature & Parks
Nestled in the picturesque town of St Ives, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden offers a captivating glimpse into the life and artistry of one of Britain's most celebrated sculptors. Preserved as it was in 1975, this enchanting space showcases an array of Hepworth's sculptures, drawings, photographs, and documents within her former home and studio. Managed by Tate St Ives, visitors can wander through her garden where many significant pieces remain in their original locations amidst lush subtropical plants.
I knew little of this sculptor when I visited and was ultimately transported by this little place. I read all about the lady in the room downstairs, which was very interesting. Having gone up to her work, I tried to follow the meanings in the book of her work and was totally lost. I put down the guide and just wandered into her garden on a sunny day. I took in all those fabulous sculptures once in the garden and loved them. I only took these 4 photos, I recommend just sitting and enjoying the garden. I could have spent hours in this amazing place. A great place to write.
Karen C — Google review
If you like Barbra Hepworth this is such a special museum. There's a lot of information about her life and you can see her studio where she worked. The garden is my favourite spot. It's one a beautifully peaceful place where you can walk or sit and look at her sculptures and the gardens that surround them. You can imagine how carefully she placed the sculptures because each of them seems to be framed by the others in some way. A visit to St Ives is not complete without a pilgrimage to this place, in my opinion.
Kat M — Google review
What beautiful place! Well kept gardens provide the backdrop for Barbara Hepworth’s perfect sculptures & artwork. We visited on a Sunday morning which was pretty quiet & felt miles away from the crowds of the town. Great place for some inspiration!

absolutely beautiful. so well curated. super small location with it being Hepworth's house but its incredibly welcoming and inspiring. staff are all wonderfully friendly. there was a school trip happening on my visit which slightly hindered my experience but once they left it was beautifully tranquil. could spend all day there. joined tate collective for 16-25 year olds and only paid £5 for a ticket but itd be worth any price. already want to return

The museum's atmosphere was incredibly welcoming. Whether you're a seasoned museum -goer or just looking for an inspiring way to spend your afternoon, Barbara Hepworth Museum is a truly enriching experience that you won't want to miss.
Bartyuk M — Google review
I’m not a great fan of Hepworth’s work, but when in St Ives… it’s expensive for what, in essence is a ten minute walk around a garden. I’ve been told since, that the ticket also allows entry to the Tate, which if true, provides better value. However, there were no signs advertising this, and no talk of it at either reception desk, so perhaps the deal has been discontinued. For lovers of Barbara Hepworth it’s a must-see, of course, but I found very little to love in her sculptures.
Martyn D — Google review
The sculptor's home and garden provides a delightful setting for her sculptures. Her workshop shows the effort required to deliver such complex pieces of art

If you want amazing views, good coffee and breakfast this is the place to go. Food was good quality, hot and the sausages were amazing. Staff were very friendly, always willing to help. The waitress even went out of her way to get our little boy more strawberries. Excellent location, amazing views and lots of seating inside and outside. Very highly recommended 👌

The cafe lives up its reviews. The food was unique and tasty, and the service was good. It was a busy day, and after a parking nightmare, we were an hour late - but they called me, and they accommodated us. Even in the restaurant we had to move table and they were super proactive and helpful.

Absolutely superb breakfast, in a wonderful cafe with incredible views. The place is amazing, sat on the cliff face with the beach and sea right opposite, the views are superb. They have various seating areas, inside, in the pods (recommended) or on the benches on the lower level. The service was immaculate, they look after you, are set up with colouring kits for kids etc. We both had the Build Your Own breakfasts with various items. All were superb. Really really good. Cannot recommend highly enough and we’ll be back for a lunch or dinner in the next day or so. Loved it. Edited the review to reflect that we also had our evening meal here. And what a place! If you book at the right time you get to see a stunning sunset. Food wise the evening menu was delicious. We really enjoyed it. We shared scallops, pork tacos, crispy sea bass, tortilla, tomato and moz salad. The little fella had, as usual, chicken and chips.

Fabulous! Definitely one of our new favourite spot in Cornwall to enjoy the ocean view and good quality food! Service impeccable! We spend around £40/50 pp because we had 2 beers and 2 glasses of Prosecco, otherwise we would have spent around £30 each tasting quality food! Highly recommended!

Had dinner with friends here on our last night in St Ives. We booked a pod that came with spectacular views of the beach and a beautiful sunset. The works of Hepworth and Nicholson connected beautifully with the town’s spirit. The changing exhibitions kept it fresh and surprising. And stepping outside—those beach views were a masterpiece on their own.

don’t even know where to begin… the outside facade and the architecture in this building is amazing! sees one of the most wonderful beaches from the top and the waves are so peaceful. yet i had low expectations of its curation based on reviews here. i visited with my 6 yo daughter and i could not even do justice in close to three hours. the pieces are so good, galleries are so distinct, installations and interactives are balanced with laintings, and the works are amazing. staff was super helpful. shop selection especially books were lovely. i visited london tate many times for free but this experience was worth more than the 14£ ticket price. cafe was crowded as it can be visited for free but the best view is from the galleries.

a lovely experience! most of the reviews i read said they were disappointed and that it wasnt worth the visit however the collection of art is beautiful though perhaps not accessible to those not into modern art. even still, i think the environment and the building itself its worth the visit - though i did get slightly lost and the gallery is smaller than i expected. even saying that, i could spend hours in here staring at the pieces. the cafe and shop are lovely too. staff are kind and welcoming. bought tickets online as part of the 16-25 tate collective for £5 which is well worth it!! maybe not worth anymore if youre not into modern art though.

The building itself is a beautiful round landmark overlooking Portmeor Beach. We stopped by for a short break and enjoyed a cream tea at the café on the 4th floor. The view was amazing, the cream tea was delicious, and the staff were super friendly
Mahsa K — Google review
Setting is amazing right by the sea, with a good cafe at the top selling nice, good value food. The main collection is small but interesting. I loved the exhibition.
Sarah C — Google review
Lovely gallery the big round building is beautiful and as you go in there are some sheltered outdoor seating area with cushions which is a nice spot to relax. Tickets can be purchased as you go in, and the galleries are on the third floor, there is a lift. On the fourth floor there is a gift shop and a cafe. We sat on the balcony. Amazing views of the sea.

Concerts & Shows
Kidz R Us is a renowned youth theatre company located in St Ives, Cornwall. Since 1994, they have engaged around 100 children in over 100 productions and have received numerous accolades. The company stages various shows throughout the year, including traditional family pantomimes during Christmas and performances during school holidays. Their productions are well-received by audiences, with impressive choreography and talented young performers.
Absolutely amazing place. The staff were brilliant and the hospitality was stunning. We watched the Annie production with our 4 year old which was her first time visiting a theatre, so we weren't sure what she would make of it. I am happy to say though, she loved every minute of it. She even got invited to the stage to help with the raffle during the intermission, which we weren't expecting so thank you for that. The cast, well wow, for their age they are professional, seamless and excellent at singing and dancing, everything was just brilliant. If you haven't visited St Ives Kids R Us, I highly recommend it. The evening was excellent and well worth the visit. Thank you to the Kids R Us team for such a special experience for our daughter and us.

The Wizard of Oz production on 17.04.25 was absolutely fantastic. The costumes and stage setting were top notch. The cast blew us away, such wonderful energy and delivery of lines. A pleasure to watch. My 7 year old loved the show, as did I. 10/10

Watched Kidzrus for 2 different shows, both amazing. Smallish theatre but you can see from most seats. Nice new cafe area.

St Michael's Mount, located in Marazion, is a captivating rocky island with a charming village, medieval church, and castle. It is a renowned landmark in the area and offers visitors an opportunity to explore its rich history through tours of the house and grounds. The picturesque 360-degree panoramas add to the allure of this medieval monastery. Marazion beach provides a stunning backdrop for swimming, making it an unforgettable experience.
Beautiful most see place. We got the boat over as the tide was high. But on low tide days you can walk along the causeway. Beautiful gardens, unfortunately the castle was closed.
Emma L — Google review
A very nice experience. Make sure to wear suitable footwear such as trainers as paths can be difficult to climb or slippery ( depending on the weather ). I had a fun time climb walking up and down and the view was beautiful. Inside the castle was very interesting.
Lin — Google review
£28 to visit the castle/gardens, and £3 for the boat. I've always wanted to visit here, and glad that I finally have. I think it is overrated. The parking situation is a nightmare. The walk over the causeway was the only fun/interesting part. The walk upto the castle wasn't particularly challenging or difficult as I am able bodied, but several people did seem to find it challenging on such a hot day. Anyone with mobility or health issues will need to reassess visiting, as there are no wheelchair routes/ramps and the ground in several places is loose/cobble/rocky, with large steps and often you have to scramble up parts of the path. The shops are staggeringly overpriced, and we avoided buying anything from them. The garden was predominantly a large selection of succulents and palms with nothing of interest. The castle, wasn't particularly interesting with only a small potion of it accessible. The "gallery" they have on the way out had some interesting pictures/paintings but no information to give context to them. You can quite easily walk around the garden and castle within an hour. As others have mentioned, the causeway is tidal so make sure you are aware of the times as several people did get caught out while we were there.
Karl B — Google review
St Michael’s Mount is amazing, the short boat ride to the Island followed by a short walk to the top gave beautiful views of the mainland. The castle and church and small are beautiful and very well maintained. My only tip would be to turn up early as it gets very busy once the tide goes out and walkway becomes usable.
Justin — Google review
Very beautiful historical site, and an enjoyable walk when the weather is right. Although I’d definitely avoid when rainy or windy. Went on a bank holiday Monday and there were quite a few rude tourists around which was unpleasant, but didn’t sour the experience for my family. The price for entry is very dear for what you get, but if you enjoy history, a good walk, or a beautiful view of the city then it is definitely worth it! (Plus, if you’re lucky you can see seals just outside the island!
Daniel P — Google review
The highest spot amongst the area, so you can see far distance when you stand at the top of the castle. The things exhibit in the castle didn’t catch much of my interest, only the huge spoon for roasting coffee beans at the time that when coffee introduced to the UK. The rest interesting would be maps to me.
Jen H — Google review
Simply beautiful!! Be aware of a few things, I came in a rainy day, at 9.45 am the tides were off until 2pm-ish but not to worry you can take the boat back if you missed the walk back. Anyway, the road to the castle involves old made stairs out of rock which can be slippery if you don't have proper shoes, Okies am uneven terrain as well. It takes about 10-15 minutes up the castle. The views are stupendous 😁 I came when the gardens were closed, sad, I've read good thing about it, but next time I'll check when they're open so I can visit again.
Florin S — Google review
It’s brilliant here! Keep an eye on the tide times so you can walk over the causeway, otherwise you need to get a boat. We had National Trust memberships so got to visit the castle for free. We went in the first week of September and dogs weren’t allowed, so just double check if it is out of season. Lots to do and see, and the castle is beautiful! Quite a few steps to go up and it’s very steep, so also worth bearing in mind.

The Minack Theatre is a remarkable open-air theater nestled into the cliffs of Cornwall, near Land's End. Carved into the rock by the sea, it offers stunning views of Porthcurno Bay. Originally envisioned in the 1930s for a performance of The Tempest, it continues to host diverse productions today, including those by the RSC. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience watching performances against the backdrop of breathtaking scenery.
Come rain or shine, The Minack Theatre ceases to provide endlessly great performances - be they epic Shakespeare performances or promoting local bands - it is a definite must visit. I’ve been lucky to see many performances this year and look forward to the few remaining. The Minack Theatre is a spectacular open air theatre carved into the granite cliffs of West Cornwall, near Porthcurno Beach, and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Built on a single-handedly by Rowena cade in 1929, it has performances in a dramatic setting that blends the natural beauty with artistic expression. Such a joy to experience not only the performance but also the wild and natural beauty of us surrounding coastline and ocean life. The seating arrangements within the Minack are based on a tear system, please don’t worry, as I have sat in all of the tiers now and can see the stage and hear the sound quite clearly. 😊 When you visit, make sure to take a comfy seat and warm clothing (maybe a rain cover), especially towards the end of August as you never really know what weather to expect. I always treat my friend and I to a lovely picnic supper and que for the delightful Minack hot chocolate during the intermission. Make sure you arrive at-least 45 mins before the show to get to your seat, wrap up if needed, to have a nibble or two.. and then hunker down and enjoy the captivation of the show and the sublime coastal surroundings - you may even see a seal or Dolphin pass by. My new favourite day of the week.. Minack day.. 😊🙏✨

Amazing little place. Definitely book your ticket in advance. It is around £12 per person. It is a quick look around; the place is quite small but worth the visit. The experience is unforgettable. The view, the scenery, everything is so beautiful. Even the cafe offers an amazing experience and view. Worth the visit at least once in a lifetime. #travelwithtentbox

Great place and fantabulous views of the cliff and the sea! Mesmerising view of the turquoise blue sea! We went on dry sunny day and loved the views and the place. Amazing architecture and would get some worthy snaps! Sarah and Jane in the helpdesk ticket centre were very kind and helpful and sorted all our clarifications!

Highly recommend watching a show, it’s the most unique backdrop for a theatre. Worth paying for a seat close up as it’s not that much more expensive. Bring a jacket, cushion to sit on as it’s concrete or grass. And bring your own snacks too. Turn up an hour early to park up and get the best seats in the area you bought tickets for. If you’re booking a taxi, make sure it arrives early before the show ends otherwise they’ll be stuck on the single track lanes
Edwin L — Google review
What a surreal visit! Totally beautiful amd so many nooks and crannies to see. Our visit was cut slightly short due to a theatre group using it to practice (which was awesome, they were doing we will rock you!) But we saw enough to be wowed.

Absolutely lovely place. Great views over the sea, fabulous gardens and a historic amphitheatre too. They still have plays occasionally, we were lucky enough to go on a day that a man was doing a talk as a gardener from years gone by.

What an absolutly fantastic experience The Minack Theatre’s history talk Meet Billy Rawlings" talks: Actor Mark Harandon portrays Billy Rawlings, the gardener who helped Rowena Cade build the theatre. These talks happen on selected days, The theatre also offers a dedicated Rowena Cade exhibition and virtual experiences that walk visitors through its creation and legacy. If you're planning a visit or want to catch a live talk, it's best to check their official site or contact them directly for the latest schedule and speaker details.

PK Porthcurno is a fascinating museum located in Cornwall, UK, that delves into the history of global communication. It showcases how this once remote valley became a central hub for worldwide connectivity and explores its continued significance today and in the future. The museum highlights the pivotal role of telegraph cables in connecting distant locations, including across the Atlantic and as far as Australia. Visitors can learn about the evolution of telecommunications from undersea cables to modern internet technology.
Wonderful bit of history. A bit out of the way to get to, but the car parks fill up very quickly, so go early. Lots to see, hands on stuff for the kids. A great look back to when England was the first technological world leader. Amazing.

Absolutely amazing bit of history. The ww2 bunker with all it's original equipment was really amazing to see. If you plan on visiting make sure you go up the tunnel to the cliff top its well worth it. People seem to forget it's there. The museum doesn't really get that busy because of Porthcurno Beach so you will probably have the place to yourself like i did. Staff are lovely and very helpful

Really interesting museum all about the birth of global communication and an amazing WW2 bunker. Great for kids as there is lots to play with and even better for big kids as there’s loads to look at and learn. Dog friendly in the main museum and a great cafe and shop.

An excellent and informative museum that tells the story of the history of communications. It thoroughly entertained our initially skeptical six year old with a series of hands on activities. Whilst it is a little out of the way, the parking is free and the beach further down the valley is equally delightful.

Great museum for young and old my 10yr old lad picked this place to go, and he loved it as did my 14 yr old daughter, there was even hands on stuff and we sent more code messages to each other, the under ground bunker was impressive as was the escape tunnel with its resident swallow nesting, all in a great few hours out. Parking is free if visiting the museum

Lovely beach to visit, definitely recommend it. The view from the top is beautiful and the beach is really big at low tide so lots of space for everybody. There is a cafe and takeaway shack for food/drinks if you would like them. Car park is never usually too busy when we visit in June and September and we always manage to find a space.

Beautiful sandy beach. Very popular with surfers. Lifeguards on duty on part. Several small, chargeable, car parks (£5 all day) in the area and one large car park at the top of the hill into Sennen - though there is a steep walk down (and up!) from there.

Hollie, one of the instructors, is known for her warm and encouraging teaching style. She breaks down the learning process into manageable steps and provides detailed feedback to help students improve during their lessons. The school's approach focuses on making lessons enjoyable while also offering an appropriate level of challenge for each individual.
Amazing surf school. I went with my partner who had never surfed and I hadn't surfed in a few years. We had Hollie who did an amazing job of making sure that we both had relevant instruction for the full lesson, to make sure we both developed. Hollie was great she is full of energy and enthusiasm and really helped reassure my partner who was a bit nervous in the waves to start off with. So much so we ended up going back for another lesson the next day. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for a surf school.

Brilliant surf school. Super skilled instructors, on a great beach, good value and very flexible.. walk in and learn to surf! We were all standing up in less than 2 hours! Wow.. Sam Smart is such a great instructor, he grew up on this beach and has surfed all over the world. My children were hooked from day one!

I couldn’t have picked a better surf school! Sam is the best teacher anyone could ask for, super fun and full of energy. By the end of my lesson, I was able to catch a wave and stand up, and he even let me keep the board to keep practicing afterward. I had such a great time that day, and I’d be well up for another lesson next time I’m around Sennen. Keep up the good work!

Land's End

Historical landmark
Lands End is a popular tourist destination, known for its iconic signpost and various attractions such as exhibitions, film shows, a farm park, and an animal center. It offers a mini-theme park with pirate and Dr. Who themes, 4D films, and attracts crowds of visitors including cyclists traveling from or to John o Groats. The area also boasts rugged coastlines and beautiful views that draw thousands of visitors annually.
We went to Land’s End and had a good wander around. There’s no entry fee for the site itself, but you do have to pay for parking, which is 20 minutes free or £7.50 for the day, with no hourly options available. There are a few attractions like the famous Land's end sign, model village, exhibitions and shops, and also plenty of walking paths with great views of the coastline. It’s nice that you can choose between spending money on the activities or just enjoying the scenery. The weather shifted really quickly while we were there—starting off sunny, then suddenly turning cloudy, windy and rainy before clearing again, so it’s worth bringing a jacket even in summer. Overall it’s a good spot to explore for a couple of hours, with dramatic views and enough to do if you want to make a day of it.
Merine A — Google review
A must visit area of Cornwall if you're visiting nearby offering incredible views across the coast. We even got lucky enough to spot a seal and spent an hour just watching the dolphins! We got there early before 10am and the place was very quiet, an hour later once the coaches arrive it starts to feel very much like the busy tourist attraction and gets crowded quickly. Getting there early allowed us to take photos in front of the sign without the huge crowds. The sign is now behind a rope where you have to pay £10 for a photo if you want to stand near it. The coastal walks either side are impressive and not too difficult to navigate - there's a ship wreck about a 15 minute walk to the right of the sign which is well worth a visit. And the archway to the left. The food is average at best but also very expensive so would recommend bringing your own. We did the adventure golf which to our surprise was really well done. 15 holes in various pirate themed areas with high production value. It's definitely worth a visit for the stunning landscapes above all else. You can ignore the rest of the experiences but can see why they'd help engage younger visitors. £9 to park all day.
Joe K — Google review
Land's End is beautiful in a rugged way. The views are spectacular on a fine day and even when the weather has closed in the wild wind blown atmosphere of west Cornwall is hard to beat. So why does anyone think a bit of crazy golf and a 4D cinema built in a layout similar to a motorway services is just what you need here? I recommend you park at Sennen Cove Harbour Car Park and walk over to Land's End (15-20 min walk), avoiding the service station vibes. There's a 2 or 2.5 hr circular walk via Nanjizal and then back inland across the fields that's very scenic. (Update: the fact there's a Land's End account that responded to my view kind of illustrates my point - does wild nature need a marketing team and amusement park?)
Owen L — Google review
Land’s End is one of those rare places that combines natural beauty with a sense of history and wonder. Standing at the westernmost tip of mainland England, you’re greeted by sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and rugged cliffs that stretch dramatically into the horizon. The coastal walks here are spectacular, offering a chance to soak in Cornwall’s wild landscape while spotting seabirds and, if you’re lucky, even dolphins. The iconic Land’s End signpost makes for a classic photo opportunity, and the visitor centre provides helpful exhibits and amenities without taking away from the natural charm of the spot. Sunset is especially magical, as the sky meets the sea in vibrant colours. Whether you’re there for a quick stop or a long coastal hike, Land’s End truly lives up to its name — it feels like the edge of the world, and it’s a must-visit on any trip to Cornwall.
Vidhi P — Google review
Great place to visit, especially if you like nature and hiking. Even for those who cannot hike you can take some walks and still see some of the nice cliffs. Some walking paths are manageable to do so. For those who are more able to hike can use trails along the coast. Just beautiful.

This is a big tourists attraction with multiple shops, 4D cinema, and crazy golf etc, which spoils it in a way as it's overly commercial. It's amazing once you get past that to stand out on lands end and look at the breathtaking scenery though. Beware that if you want photos next to the old sign you have to pay, so we stood with it in the background for a selfie! There's a big carpark which you have to pay to use.

Had a cracking time at Land's End! The views were stunning, and the coastal path was a great way to take it all in. The cafe had decent grub and a warm welcome. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! 🌊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿"

There are a lot of things to do / visit, surroundings. It's a beautiful place and I was lucky to be 20 degrees outside but very very windy, but I think it's always like that because it's next to the cliffs and sea. Anyway, great experience, and the parking here is free for 20 minutes and£7.5 all day for the cars and vans, and£4 for motorbikes There are no alternatives to pay by hour.

Great place to visit, especially if you like nature and hiking. Even for those who cannot hike you can take some walks and still see some of the nice cliffs. Some walking paths are manageable to do so. For those who are more able to hike can use trails along the coast. Just beautiful.

Land's End Sign

Marker erected in the 1950s close to England's westernmost point, with distances to other locations.
We visited the famous Land’s End sign, which is probably the most iconic feature of the area. It is a great photo spot and the staff there offer the option of taking a professional picture for about £10-£11. They even change the sign to include your names or your home city, which makes it a bit more personal if you want a keepsake. There is no fee just to see the sign out take photos on your phone from a distance, but if you want that customised photo you will need to pay. Entry into Land's end is free but Parking is 20 minutes free or £7.50 for the day, and there are no hourly charges, so if you are only stopping for a quick picture the cost feels a little high. The views from the sign are wide and dramatic, and it is easy to see why it is so popular with visitors from all over the world. The weather shifted quickly during our visit, going from sunshine to cloudy and rainy with strong winds in the space of a short time, so it is worth being prepared if you want clear photos. Overall, it is a unique landmark and worth seeing at least once, but it helps to know the costs and to plan for the changing weather.

Stunning views, great staff, parking is perfect day so long walks are covered. The genteman taking the photos is very nice and professional. If you are going to lands end, you are getting a picture.

Unbelievable! The cliffs are crazy cool and even better in reallife! We were here at 7pm which was pretty good, since it was very empty but still good lighting... There are some nice shops around and a hotel.

The views from the sign area are amazing and stunning on a clear sunny day. The sign area is a little disappointing as it’s been commercialised, you need to pay to have a picture taken with your “message” on it. I suppose it’s good to mark a celebration or event that way, but most people just want a simple snapshot next to the original sign. Parking is plentiful and fixed at a day rate of £9 regardless of how long you stay ( a quick visit is not good value ). A few decent cafes and food place are situated here, the tea and scones are particularly good at the place just at the entrance. Nice place with good views and very good service with reasonable pricing. Overall a nice experience and some good areas where you can find out about Lands Ends history and stuff.

Think its a bit of a con having to pay to stand at the side of it and have your photo taket thats what happens when a private company invest in it Tourist zones and managed access: In some cases, access to the monument itself (or its immediate surroundings) is managed by a trust or private body. They may charge for entry, guided tours, or even “photo spots” with scenic backdrops. "Money making"

Pretty view, but over done. A shame it's no longer part of the national trust. I get the fact it has had £7 million put into the infrastructure and they have erected a huge complex but there's no need for a Wallace and gromit experience there haha. The view of the 270 degree sea is amazing, I would recommend coming after hours than when it is fully open as it is deserted and the restraunt is still open. There on tap selection is impressive too ( strawberry and like rattler on tap is wicked.

The entry/parking is £8 for whole day... No matter you want to stay for an hour... That pity. Entertainment part is common what you find at any pier... However, 'life music' - very charming! When the weather is nice worth to come for tje atmosphere of freedom, dramatic landscape with open space!

Lands End has some stunning views of the Longship Lighthouse, the two Reefs and the Jurassic coastline. The are some breathtaking walks along the cliff tops in both directions, more so as you walk south along the cliff tops
