Very nice tour through very old wine cellars under the old historic town of Retz. At the end there is wine tasting, which seems a must in the region.
Hans Z — Google review
Marvelous underground wine cellar tunnels tour that should not be missed when you are in Retz, Austria. The tour can be conducted in English, Czech or German. A lot of interesting information about wine in general, the speciality of this land will bring you not just knowledge but also joy during more than 1hour tour.
Hong P — Google review
Interesting tour of the largest wine cellars in Europe. Interactive guide and stations to stop along and see. It's not really for kids, but some kids may find it interesting.
Melissa L — Google review
Great tour (in German) to explore wine history!
Stanislav K — Google review
Informative. And very interesting to see it is a sand maze. At the end there is a gift shop and restaurant were you can buy good wine and chese that goes with it
M W — Google review
It's amazing what people built here to store wine. There's a nice tour (German only, but an English audio guide is available) that takes an hour and a half with a knowledgeable and funny guide. Take a jacket, the temperature is constantly around 8-10 Celsius down there. Must see attraction when one visits Retz.
Vlad M — Google review
Extremely helpful and friendly staff at the information center. We arrived right as they closed on a Friday evening but the helpful lady stayed with us past closing time and helped call around to find available accommodation. Everything in and around Retz was fully booked and it took over half an hour of calling to find us a place. Thanks so very much.

Loved the guided tour! Great wines were sampled!! Had to get the Eiswein for the wife!

Lots to explore. Fun day out for children with water play areas, some siving for gold, a nice gift shop with a small cafe area ad there's also a playground outside to the right. Ample parking.

The place was very nice and beautiful. If you want to see amethyst stones that's a very nice place. Also there's a big area where kids can play with water and on the playground where there are also rabbits. The amethyst digging was very interesting (and yes it's not a scam :-)) but you can only take one handful
Iliana K — Google review
A nice place for a weekend visit, especially if you are with kids. The guided tours in the mine and the exhibition are only in german. Very interesting attraction for the kids is to dig for minerals. The gardens are also nice and free for access.
Nelly B — Google review
We liked this place very much. For free you can enjoy well maintained park in style of healing-garden and children-playground. Guided tours were unfortunately only in German, so our teenagers went to dig for amethyst in a small area for the fee 7,-Eur/person/hour. Each of them has found full palm of little and bigger stones, so they were happy enough. Who haven't found, got the stones from the stuff as a memory when leaving. There is also cafe, shop with exhibition of stones and related products to buy, you can spend a lot, but we enjoyed the atmosphere of sunny autumn day and digging there, which are precious memories. We would like to visit Maissau castle, but was closed. If you are there, visit the near Kittenberger Adventure Gardens, too, as we did. It's great for all generations. It's possible to come with the dog :-) What we missed > brochures with information in other languages
Lenka S — Google review
A real amethyst mine, that you can visit and a gemstone museum
Tawe S — Google review
A lovely place to visit. It is located close to Czech borders and is really nice acessible. The museum, mine, mineral shop and the digsite are really nice and worth visiting. However if you do not speak german, you’ll have serious problem to understand anything because all the labels, divny, guides etc are only in German. Also the personel does not speak English in most cases so even to understand the tickets and which to buy and for which price is a challenge. I think that it would be really helpful to have signs and labels in English and Czech (given that it is so close to Czechia borders) that would make the visit even more enjoyable.
Michal O — Google review
We enjoyed a lot the Amethyst world and since our visit I already recommended it to several people with kids. We were not quite sure what to expect, so we were not optimally prepared. My advise to all would be: pick your clothes wisely. If you want to dig - dress an old pair of jeans and not your best shoes :) Also bring along some nylon bag or something else, to sit on while you do the digging. It will make it more pleasant and not so intense on your knees. Otherwise the rest of the place is also very interesting and nice. There is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the nature, have a small picknick and learn some new things about minerals. EVERYTHING is in German, no translation is available. There is a small cafeteria, where you can get a snack or a drink. We will be better prepared next time for sure, and come back for more amethysts.
Maria A — Google review
Our sons loved digging for amethyst in the back and would have been doing it for hours had we let them. We also did a tour of the house with the NO card - note that it is all in German (including displays). We were lucky in that the young woman on our tour (June 26, noon) took a bit of her time when she could to very kindly explain some things to us in English, which we greatly appreciated. There was a young astrophysicist student who, on his first day on the job, also shared with us in English what he had soaked in so far (which was a lot). We were so very appreciative of their time and effort in trying to make this a fun experience for us (and it was!). Brought our own picnic lunch and there are many tables set up for it. Really nice playground on the outside as well for younger kids … and the adults enjoyed the zip line as well!

Schloss Rosenburg

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Medieval castle rebuilt in the 16th century, with flower gardens plus weapons, armor & paintings.
The location is superb, a fairytale indeed. The castle is very beautiful and maintained properly, perfect for events. However, the hotel is rather rustic. Rooms don't have AC units and in the summer it is very hot and very difficult to sleep.
Adi V — Google review
Beautiful scenery and we recommend “Taverne & Greisslerei Rosenburg”. Delicious food and wine and super friendly and attentive staff. Thank you very much ☺️
Miroslava S — Google review
The gardens are beyond romantic and dreamy. Unforgettable.
Nadja H — Google review
We had our wedding on the outdoor terrasse. It was a great experience very beautiful view and the Rosenburg team was also very reliable, engaged and forthcoming in the preparations. The price was also very reasonable. The castle is also a great occasion for a day trip since it has beautiful gardens (especially in spring), a falcon show and climbing park nearby. I also highly recommend the Christmas market at the castle in December. Overall, I highly recommend a visit or a wedding there.

It was a great get away from vienna. We booked the tour and the tour leader was explaining every single details of the palace. Such an interesting history this place had. We also watched an Engle freely flying around the castle and then went back to his trainer. Definitely recommend to check out this place with family or friends

Vranov nad Dyjí Chateau

Temporarily Closed
Manor house
Sights & Landmarks
State-owned Baroque castle & chapel perched on a clifftop with a restored interior open for tours.
We like this city and the whole region. We were here 7 years ago. New restaurants appeared. It is a pity that we could not see the castle. The gates to the castle grounds close at 5 p.m. until the end of June. Then, during the 2 summer months, it will close at 18 hours.
Liudmyla K — Google review
The place was very nice and pretty. The castle had a beautiful view. The tower was worth it. If you will be in Vranov nad Dyjí I recommend to go there.
Iliana K — Google review
Charming village surrounded by beautiful nature and a magnificent castle. There are plenty of great restaurants and cafés where you can have delicious food, and the dam is truly impressive.
Ekaterina L — Google review
Greta baroque Hall is really impressive. On the way from Znojmo its worth to stop on the road for panoramic view.
Przemyslaw C — Google review
One of the best preserved castles in the Czech Republic, exceptional furniture and walls paintings. The parking lot is in the valley and you have to climb up to the castle, need coins.
Monica A — Google review
27.8.2025 really tired about the czech management of state castles....archaic concept of obligationary splitted tours without audioguides...for a ripoff price...of course inside no fotos allowed as nobody would visit their castles under this conditions anymore. Parking is another mess, too.
Stefan W — Google review
The castle looks really impressive from the town below. We were with a young child so we didn't see the rooms. Otherwise there are a few courtyards but other than that most of the castle grounds are off limits. There seems to be a nice rose garden but you can't visit that either. On the upside the gift shop is amazing and sells some beautiful local made pottery and glassware for dime on the nickel. And the underground cafe is worth visiting as well.
Laz B — Google review
Beautiful castle in barocco style. Very good interiors. Nice excursion. There are three excursions - representations halls (220 kc), private bedrooms (220 kc) and the tower (100 kc). Parking in 600 meters before the castles, 100 Kc for the whole day - ONLY CASH AND ONLY Czech crowns.

Bítov Castle

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Bítov Castle is a captivating hilltop complex dating back to the 11th century, nestled amidst lush forests and overlooking the Vranov Reservoir. The neo-Gothic architecture adds to its enchanting allure. Visitors can explore beautifully restored interiors, including Victorian extravagance and charming baroque rooms. One of the highlights is a peculiar collection of stuffed animals from around the world, curated by the eccentric last owner.
A beautiful and interesting castle. There is plenty of paid parking that is about .75 kilometers from the castle on an easy walking path. I recommend taking the tour as the interior is beautiful and quite interesting. And of course you cannot miss the stuffed dog room with 40 plus dogs. Lots of beautiful decorations and designs and interesting furniture.
M P — Google review
A sprawling château with beautifully restored interiors. High Victorian extravagance is the main theme, but also charming baroque rooms and an extraordinary set of rooms of stuffed animals at the end, birds, dogs, wild animals etc. The choice of the eccentric last owner. Well worth a visit
Malcolm S — Google review
It is a very strange experience visiting this castle, the last owner had the mania of taxidermy all the living creatures from the region, as well as all the possible dogs, cats, squirrels, birds, mices. The road through the forest to the castle is very pleasant. There is a large lake and a campsite nearby.
Monica A — Google review
We enjoyed this castle more than most that we visited in Czechia. Be sure to take the first tour, which shows you the last owner's bizarre collection of stuffed animals from all over the world, including stuffed dogs (see photos). Also there is a nice wine tasting place there. All in all, very enjoyable. We took a boat trip from Vranov, which was very nice. But you can also drive there directly.
Wm L — Google review
Regardless of hours shown in Google, website indicates in October, only open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9am to 4pm. On weekdays only for pre-announced, reserved trips. We arrived on a Tuesday in October and it was clearly closed.

Truly unique experience, get ready for a little walk and couple of great tours around Castle, do not miss turtore tour, you will meet Karel your friendly companion and then you will be able to try all torture instruments, really unique experience
Jan C — Google review
Well.. Bit disappointed to be honest. Compared to Vranov castle this was bit... Artifical, not do interesting and less exciting. But.. It's not a trouble, just there are large competition and it seems that Bítov is kind of lacking it differention edge
Hynek — Google review
Hrad Bítov was such a beautiful place to visit, and to see the old brevery there was a real additional feature. Also the camping was very close to it. Only disadvantage was that they don't accept cards at the parking lot.

Jewish cemetery

Mentioned on

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Jewish Cemetery is a secluded and gothic spot that exudes an eerie atmosphere, especially during crepuscular foggy evenings. The tombstones, half-eaten by ivy, bear interesting carvings that pique curiosity. Despite its neglect, the cemetery offers a calm and holy ambiance for visitors to relax under the beautiful trees. Whether on a melancholic sunny day or amidst wolf howls in the distance, this sad yet intriguing place invites contemplation and reflection.
A secluded spot for the lovers of gothic atmosphere. Try to go there with a crepuscular fog and some wolf howling in the distance. (Otherwise, a lovely sunny day will do if you mumble melancholy poems to yourself). Notice how the ivy has eaten up half of the tombstones and start wondering what's wrong with the other half... ok, maybe just consider the interesting carvings on the tombstones and relax under the beautiful trees. (mind that zombie hand reaching for your foot!)

(Translated by Google) The Třebíčšky Jewish cemetery, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2003, has fascinated me since our first visit. The Jewish cemetery in Třebíč is the second largest in the Czech Republic after the old Jewish cemetery in Prague. It is located on the northern side of Hrádek in Třebíč on a total area of 11,678 m². There are 2,600 tombstones on it, and the oldest still legible inscription is dated 1625. About 11,000 people are buried here. Many tombstones are literally hidden under the ivy. Unlike Christians, Jews do not place flowers or wreaths on graves, only stones. The sea of ivy, from which tombstones with Hebrew inscriptions peek out from among the old trees, looks incredible. During the Second World War, Jews were deported to concentration camps. Out of 300 Jewish residents, not even twenty of them returned to Třebíč. The memorial monument at the entrance to the cemetery commemorates 290 victims of the Nazi government and Jewish soldiers. Brečtanové more, z ktorého vykúkajú pomedzi staré stromy náhrobky s hebrejskými nápismi, pôsobí neuveriteľne.

St. Procopius Basilica in Třebíč

Mentioned on
3 lists
Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The St. Procopius Basilica in Třebíč is a 12th-century Romanesque church situated on a hilltop overlooking the Jewish Quarter. It was once a monastery and today offers guided tours for visitors to explore its historic architecture and religious significance. The UNESCO-listed basilica is considered to be an important landmark that attracts many tourists, who come to admire its rare beauty and ancient heritage.
It was a great opportunity to visit St. Procopius Basilica in Třebíč city. Visiting a basilica is an experience that transcends time and connects us to the spiritual heritage of the past while inspiring us for the future. Built on the site of the original Virgin Mary's Chapel of the Benedictine monastery in 13th century it is one of the oldest in Czech republic and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage in 2003.
Andrii K — Google review
The basilica is highly recommended for its unique style and old Romanesque artworks. However, the interior can only be visited with a guided tour, which must be booked at the info centre. Tours run almost every hour and are in Czech, but information pamphlets are available in German and English.
Test 1 — Google review
Sadly, closed when I went past. A beautiful old church that is sometimes open. It begins the trail though the UNESCO old Jewish area
Jeremy K — Google review
A mixture or romanesque and gothic architecture dating from the early 13th century - not common at all in the Czech Republic. Please mind that the interior is only accessible with a guided tour (check the timings, we got there 9 minutes late and were not allowed in, not even for a quick glance). A view and a lovely herb garden (with name-tags for herbs!) makes up for the disappointment if you don't manage to get in.
Anna A — Google review
I love this place! It is one of the most beautiful place I've ever seen. It should be on your must-see list.
PO — Google review
Very large gothic cathedral. Worth doing the guided tour even though it is in Czech.
Raymond L — Google review
Really beautiful, very old and rare Roman style church.
Ry K — Google review
Unique place on its own, but there's also a beautiful herb garden outside and a great view of the city. The guided tour of the interior was informative and interesting. It also allows access to most of the spaces inside the building, which give you insight into various eras of the building's existence. If you're interested in history or architecture, I can't recommend it enough. Photos are allowed inside the building.

The Pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená hora

Mentioned on
2 lists
Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
The Pilgrimage church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená hora is an 18th-century Baroque-Gothic church and a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Trebic. The church features an ornate altar and outer chapels, drawing visitors with its mystical atmosphere and unique architecture. Designed by the Czech architect Jan Blazej Santini-Aichel, the church is a remarkable example of Baroque Gothic style, showcasing intricate symbolism and religious messages.
This is a beautiful gothic church in the Czech Republic. It has some special characteristics that make it stand out: the flying buttresses, the pointed roofs, the gorgeous stained glass and of course the many interior ribbed arches. Inside you will find elaborate wooden pieces dedicated to the different guilds, confessionals, several chapels and the very large organ decorated with the golden figures of small angels. On the roof are the coats of arms of all the different guilds that took part in its construction as well as that of the silver mine that provided the money to fund the structure. Don’t miss a chance to get a tour of the silver mines and the companion site at Sedlec Ossuary where you will find the church adorned with human bones.
Deb W — Google review

Ronny F — Google review
A beautiful design, place of peace, good energy, spacious and very clean. Polite people. We loved it. Enjoying a river at the foot of the church tower was wonderful. Another little piece of the Czech Republic.
Vanessa K — Google review
Attractive pilgrimage church with unusuall walls in the shape of star. Worth to climb up or one can park close as well.
Igor F — Google review
One of the best works of the brilliant Czech architect with Italian ancestors, Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel, is one of the most original examples of the so-called Baroque Gothic, that you can see only in Czech. In an incredibly elaborate building a number of symbols and religious and historical messages is hidden. The symbols are dominated by the tongue, the five-pointed star and the number five. The foundation of the church was connected with the forthcoming beatification and canonization of John of Nepomuk. Construction began in 1719, in 1922 the church was consecrated. Tip: if you are not a fan of mass tourism, I recommend special winter visits. In sunny weather, the church and the surrounding countryside have their charms, plus instead of buses full of tourists, there were around twelve of us here. Not only was it time to see everything thoroughly, but even the guide's interpretation did not have to be like machine gun and there was time for conversation as well. Úžasné dílo geniálního českého architekta s italskými předky, Jana Blažeje Santiniho-Aichela, představuje jednu z nejoriginálnějších příkladů tzv. barokní gotiky. V neuvěřitelně propracované stavbě je ukryta celá řada symbolů a náboženských i historických sdělení. Ze symbolů dominuje jazyk, pěticípá hvězda a číslo pět. Založení kostela souviselo s připravovaným blahořečením a svatořečením Jana Nepomuckého.
Vladimir P — Google review
A beautiful old church sitting atop a hill . Sadly has been run down but lots of construction going on to restore it. Makes for a very pleasant walk with nice views all around , up the hill (which is steeper than it looks) around the church yard and back down again. We didn't go inside on a tour as missed the time slot. Worth visiting.
Rick W — Google review
Since this place is already UNESCO heritage, I was very much surprised that the outside walls are in very bad shape and that there is ongoing reconstruction. The church itself is closed in winter, but you can still go thought the main gate of the complex and walk at the yard. Despite reconstruction, after passing through the main gate, one chapel inside of the outer walls was open and available for visitors, especially those that want to pray - there was a maintained altar. The hill itself and the space outside of the complex offer a nice view at the town and the places around. Be mindful when you plan to arrive by car, though. The parking place at the top of the hill is for 4 cars and that parking place is full of locals getting there by car just to go for a walk with their kids. There are additional parking places under he hill, but then you need to walk a bit on the road for cars. This place was not in Waze at the time when I visited the church. Since this is a church, there is no public toilet for the visitors, so count with that. I recommend to check when the place is open, and plan the trip after the reconstruction is done. Otherwise you see a lot of things from construction side mixed with the church view.
Jana K — Google review
Still under reconstruction. I agree that the monument is more impressive from the outside as the inside looks empty with some nice mural. Only gave 3 stars because as a UNESCO monument not accepting euros is acceptable but not accepting card is out of question. So because of that I didn’t see the church on the inside.

Excellent place to visit , Lots of history and the gardens , buildings and surrounds are superbly maintained . Easy to spend a couple of hours or more just walking around and taking it all in at a relaxed pace. There is an excellent cafe with great coffee and a large souvenir shop . We didn't go to the museum with paid entry as we arrived just behind a large tour bus group . Plenty of parking across the road out the front. Highly Recommended .

Very nice place to visit. Not a lot of tourists. Entrance was free, tours were not. Only with the tour you will get into the main part of the building. I enjoyed a lot. In group going on walk through was only me and user guide. I was lucky i felt like special guest. It was marvelous. Specialy museum, i was astonished. Chateau was superb. It is live prove, the difference between private and gowerment owner. And yes private owner is better. Thanks for nicely refurbished chateau. I like it...

The castle is open on some days only, so check this in advance. Otherwise you might end up with the museum and the gardens only. The entrance to the gardens is either form the street or from the information center and it's for free. There is a cool souvenir shop where I bought some beer, chocolate and some other local products. Parking place in front of the castle is huge and the historical bridge that is one of the top highlights of the town is close by. You will very probably pass through it with your car on your way to the castle, actually.

Nice place with rich history. We ordered english tour, but unfortunatelly they did not noted that. Finally some young girl from reception desk saved us, luckily.

I have visited the castle Zdar n.Sazavou in April 2019 and it was great. I liked tge castle itself and the internal yard. There are guided tours and the one I tried was in Czech and it was very interesting. The guide was very welcoming, smiling and positive. Apart the standard things you find in the castle I really appreciated the baby change room, this was the only baby change point I found in Zdar unfortunately, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Galina B — Google review
The huge castle area is very well maintained by its owner Kinsky family, it is just amazing. We really like how the buildings were reconstructed with taste. The orientation system is very artistic and nice. There is absolutely no visual smog of banners outside, so refreshing and unique in Czechia. There is all kinds of services in the castle: a café, a few museums, a souvenir shop, different kinds of acommodation, a church and even a school :) The only thing we were missing was a restaurant that would sell fish caught in the Kinsky's ponds. I definitely recommend a tour called Following Santini's Footprints in many castle buildings. The tour guide Tomas was super nice, he had a very interactive tour with questions and discussions and he knew a lot.

Telč Chateau, located in the Vysocina Region of the Czech Republic, is a Renaissance chateau with a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Originally a Gothic castle, it was transformed into an imposing three-wing complex with picturesque roofs, arcades, and delicate sgraffito decoration by architect Baldassare Maggi. Visitors can explore stunning Renaissance halls adorned with lavishly painted wooden panel ceilings depicting historic and mythical stories.
The town of Telč is a very old historical town and, thanks to its beauty, is one of the 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Czech Republic. The square is lined with beautiful historic houses and there is a wide range of restaurants and cafes where you can sit outside and observe the beautiful houses. There is also a courtyard with a cafe in the castle grounds, which has a large selection of great cakes and desserts and very good coffee. We also enjoyed a walk through the old streets and around the pond in the castle garden. The bridge over the pond, which was built thanks to a sponsorship from the Swiss municipality of Belp, also deserves attention.

Worst guided tour ever. There are 15 people who speak English but the guide chose to speak Czech to the few other tourists and gave us text to read ourselves without even explaining which room is which. When I protested she said she only had 15 minutes so she’d rather speak her language. No star to this woman.
Priyavadee — Google review
The chateau museum can be visited without a guide, but the rest is only accessible with a guided tour. At the time of the visit, all tours were in Czech.

A majestic castle with a beautiful courtyard right in the center of Telc town. As usual in Czech Republic the guide tour are in their language. At this castle the photography inside is prohibited.

Very beautiful place. Wonderful garden and surrounding. Only thing which we didn't like is different tickets to see museums in chateau. They could have created combined ticket with some reasonable rates. Overall Telč is beautiful.

Zoological Garden in Jihlava

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Zoo set in river valley, with themed continental enclosures, tigers, leopards & a breeding program.
The zoo itself isn't big but well planned and maintained. It's definitely one of the best if you wanna get up close to the animals.
Michaela M — Google review
We had a great time at the zoo. Lots of baby animals well cared for. My youngest daughter had a blast in a cold March day, with some snow on the ground. Weekdays the zoo is pretty empty. Highly recommended.
Ed G — Google review
Very fun experience. You have to pay for parking, or you can park in a shopping mall nearby. The zoo itself is nice and clean, the reptie pavilion is by far the best I've seen in czechoslovakia, and there are little monkey roaming around you freely. There is not much wallking uphill, which is neat. Also, there are fun little activites for kids and many educational signs so you and your family learn along the way. I very much recommend visiting this zoo!
Eva B — Google review
A very nice zoo, even in autumn a nice experience. Really huge step forward after 12 years since our last visit. Sloth in the pavilion was really amazing. Completely new experience.
Jan P — Google review
Nice zoo, a bit older facilities and some parts less suitable for stroller, however, overall pleasant with a larger number of feline species to see that are not elsewhere or in smaller numbers. Suitable for children. Great reptile pavillion with many species of crocodiles, lizards, turtles, snakes, etc.
Kristina K — Google review
There is a lot to see in the zoo. The whole family can have a very nice time in the Zoo. It is possible to see the whole Zoo in 3 hours but if you take the time to explore you can spend a lot of rime there. We particulary enjoyed the eagle flights.
Saša H — Google review
Very nice well maintained zoo in a beautiful area! Large variety of animals who seem to have plenty of space. The entry price is fair and parking is cheap. They have a poffertjes stand, you don’t see that much I really enjoyed it! They’re pushy about anti-smoking, outside of two designated zones. I encountered 0 smokers for the first time ever in a zoo.

Romanesque castle ruin with text panels on its history & many owners, plus views of the countryside.
Great castle! The ruins are well preserved and presented. Amazing views from the view tower. Well catered for English and German speaking visitors. Archery and crossbow were a bonus. 2 car parks with different prices (but the difference is minimal)

Nice castle ruin where has sense to go, accessable by car/ motorbike and 2 large parking places. Visiting time approx 1 hour is enought, you can step up on to tower, great countryside view. The recommendation is early visit, otherwise can be crowded by bus tours. Entrance approx 5€ per adult person.
Tomas B — Google review
Must see castle ruins. Lots of hidden rooms and stairs. Some exhibits are hard to find but interesting. Must climb to the roof for the best view in Czech Republic.
Ken F — Google review
Has to be said that our visit to this castle was unplanned. With little knowledge this castle offers you good enough leaflets about the history, as well as providing information in a small museum within. Great 360 degrees views from the top. You don't need to leave your dog behind in the car and can bring it all the way into the highest tower.
Vojtech V — Google review
Amazing for nature view.
Stanislav Š — Google review
One of the best preserved castle ruins in the country. The largest tower provides good views of the surrounding forests, well worth the 150ish steps up to the top. A selfguided tour allows you to take your time or race through and then relax in the moat/park and do come cross/bow shooting. Not sure if and how guided tours work. No refreshments were availble at the castle so get them at one of the 3 restaurants in the village just below before you go.

This trip was a surprise for me and i'm glad i came. Interiors are simply breathtaking, whole experience together with staff rooms toom over an hour, there were plenty of things to see and most of them are the originals. Guide was helpful and understanding - her explanations were spot on. It's definitely worth seeing.

A nice spot, gardens divided to public & private, putorwsque surroundings.
Petr L — Google review
Nicely renovated, garden is very pretty, fair warning though ... the key attraction used to be museum of hippology ... which is currently not on display! Let's hope for the best in the future. This helped to save the actual castle in the 60s and 70s. The interior displays are symbolic and typical for 19th and early 20th century and compared to other gems in the Czech Republic somewhat average.

I'd been coming here as a small kid 35+ years ago. So it's a cult experience for me 😀 At the moment, the horse museum and park are closed due to a major refurb (will probably affect this and the 2019 season). The manor house and a look out are accessible.. The two guided tours take about 90min together. Interestingly, the staff on site are not the usual part time interns but regular monument office employees.. it makes no doubt for a professional tour experience.

Last time we were here in 2015 there was a wedding so we couldn't get inside. This time it was open and a great experience, now with restored underground rooms. A great visit with a decent English Language written guide.

Beautiful historical place that is still being restored. Some parts are in ruins, but it’s very atmospheric and full of history. Entrance to the inner area is ticketed; groups are let in every 15 minutes with a short introduction by a guide, after which you can explore on your own. Highlights include a tall tower with great views, impressive underground areas, and even a historic well. Overall, a very interesting and worthwhile visit.

Gorgeous castle, with an amazing visiting experience. In the beginning you get a short introduction, then roam the site on your own, with boards with info everywhere. Really large, really well handled approach to its partial reconstruction.

One of the best castles from Czech Republic. Outstanding.

The main difference with the rest castles is that there's no tour. Rather that there is a short introduction and then you are free to explore is by yourself. The main tour us quite impressive with a good view. There are info tables so the curious ones will have a possibility to learn about its history. Moreover there are some old pictures how it looks like in 1876 before the fire. And visiting the dungeon is mandatory.

Nestled in the South Bohemian region, Červená Lhota Castle is a picturesque Renaissance chateau situated on an island in the middle of a serene lake. Its striking red-pink facade and richly decorated interiors make it a fairytale-like destination. Visitors can stroll along walking trails surrounding the lake or even rent boats for a leisurely experience.
A wonderful place for a walk ✨️

Excellent trip with the kids, even made at the beginning of December (by that time parking was free of charge, otherwise it's 60 Czk). Nice walk around the lake (1 km, follow yellow marking). Spectacular views possibly every season. Check if guided tour inside is provided, it's about 40 minutes, we'll prepared and even kids liked it (in December it was focused on Xmas habits of nobel family).

If I could, I would have given 4,5 Stars. Why? Because the Castle is suppose to have water around and for the past few years it’s only been a mud🤷🏼‍♂️ Otherwise: ➕beautiful and unique Castle🏰 ➕very good Tour guide🗣️ ➕ideal for Photoshooting ➕stroller friendly We did a Tour (Podkroví) with 2 kids (6&4) which lasted 30min and they managed😅😎

We visited Červená Lhota island castle during hot summer weekend and it was not very busy there. We did not go inside the castle and just enjoyed a short walk around the parkland. The nature is rich there, there is lot of shade so one can hide from the sun light. There are few booths with toys, refreshments and souvenirs. Apart from that, you can find cheap toilets and two bistros.
Jiri K — Google review
A very very beautiful waterside red castle! It is advisable to hike, fish, sunbathe, enjoy the scenery, or just to daze. Of cause, the best thing should be done is to take photo again and again with continuous surprises.

I did enjoyed the area and I took a lot of photos. Gorgeous place!

Sedlec Ossuary, also known as the 'Bone Church,' is a small Gothic chapel located beneath the Cemetery Church of All Saints in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic. It is adorned with garlands of human skulls, a bone chandelier, and chalices made from the bones of over 40,000 individuals. This macabre yet captivating site attracts visitors worldwide who are eager to witness its unique artistry and contemplate mortality.
Interesting and unsettling historic site. The information and videos about the restoration work makes you appreciate the dedication and craftsmanship of the people involved in creating the Ossuary and now ensuring the site is kept safe is really impressive.

Very interesting church. It is one of a kind. It was much smaller than I expected. Definitely worth the visit. My only disappointment is that it’s so unique but you can’t take a picture of yourself inside. Granted there are few people who do not show respect when taking a pic, the remainder of the folks have to suffer for other’s bad decisions. this place is good for a quick stop.
Anand — Google review
An absolutely fascinating and hauntingly beautiful place to visit. The Sedlec Ossuary is unlike anything else — both eerie and awe-inspiring at the same time. The artistry and respect shown in how the bones are arranged is incredible; it really makes you reflect on history, mortality, and craftsmanship all at once. I visited on a weekday and had almost no wait to get in, which made the experience even better. The site is well-preserved, informative, and surprisingly peaceful. Highly recommend stopping here if you’re anywhere near Kutná Hora — it’s a quick trip from Prague and completely worth it. Buying tickets in advance isn’t necessary if you go early in the day, but it can’t hurt during busy seasons.

Came to Kutna Hora being a fan of KCD 2, and had to stop by this famous spot. I think my girlfriend thought I was a bit off for wanting to go to a church, but she ended up loving it just as much as me! Also don't be a doofus, pay attention and NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOS!! There's a visitor's center just a short walk down the street where you buy tickets, or you can do so online ahead of time. Gift shop was cool, had some KCD related items as well
Richard B — Google review
Amazing experience really, it’s currently under renovations but you can go inside and see everything no problem, I actually liked I got to see the experts working on the renovations also. You can’t take photograph’s but I promise it’s so worth it. This are some fotos of the outside. O recommend buying tickets before hand.

Unfriendly staff. There is no ticket office at the location. There is no explanation of the history of the place. High price. Half of the place is well kept, the other half is ”ongoing”. Place serves it purpose: you get the immediate vibes of looking at real bones of thousands of people. You have to be into it to enjoy the experience. I didn’t. Would not recommend.

Stepped into St Barbara’s on a bright morning and was immediately floored by that soaring Gothic nave—ribbed vaults twisting overhead like frozen webs. Sunlight streamed through vibrant stained glass, casting kaleidoscopic patterns onto centuries-old stone. Knowing it took over 500 years to complete—and that it was built by miners to rival Prague—makes every gargoyle, flying buttress, and delicate fresco feel like a statement of pride. Climbing up to peek at the exterior ribs and slender buttresses from inside was an unexpected highlight—architecture turned up close

A beautiful church that rivals St Vitus Cathedral in Prague. We spent an hour+ here doing the audio guide on our phones. The audio guide was very informative and easy to use. The exterior of the church is gorgeous, it's hard to choose between St Barbara's or St Vitus in Prague Castle. The interior of the church is also very interesting and beautiful. It was lovely to see so many regences to the town's mining history.
Rebecca O — Google review
The entire complex of which the cathedral is a part is immense, extraordinarily beautiful, and the cathedral itself is huge, a construction that is no longer made nowadays. When you go up to the cathedral, you are enveloped by a feeling of well-being and happiness. You can buy a ticket just for the cathedral or another one that includes the ossuary from Sedlec , but the ossuary is just for advertising, it's not worth visiting, it's in another town, not far away.

Unbelievable! 10/10 must see! I've sen many pictures of this amazing Gothic church before coming here, but this is one of those places you simply have to experience. It doesn't even seem real. The detail of the masonry on both the exterior and interior are nothing short of stunnung. Stepping inside, was the most ornate and beautifully decorated church I've ever seen. From the masonry, to the carved statues painted and guilded in gold, simply stunning. And to think that construction started over 600 years ago is mind bending! Kuta Hora started as a simple monestary, until one of the monks found silver, and it quickly became one of the largest and wealthiest mines in Europe. At one point in time it was estimated that 30% of the silver that existed in Europe came from Kutna Hora, making it one of the wealthiest cities in all of Europe. With all that wealth came the funding to construct the fantastical. The Works started in 1388 and continued until 1588. Sadly, during the 200 years of construction, the mines began to run out of silver, and with it, the funds to continue construction. You will notice a seemingly plain and flat elevation on the north wall, a departure from the wildly complicated structure, leaving you impressed, but longing for the full vision to have been seen through. Tickets to enter are cheap, and beyond worth it.
Jesse N — Google review
A truly unique church/cathedral with the way it’s been built in separate parts over the last 600 years. For kingdom come deliverance fans it’s a must, I even bought a silver Groschen from the gift shop!

Very beautiful church on amazing grounds. It compares to St-Vitus church in Prague. All the sculptures presented in the alley getting to the church reminded me of Charles Bridge. Beautiful. The church itself is very well preserved, though it was weirdly "missing" some stained glass windows at some places (I doubt that it was initially built with crystal clear windows, but I might be wrong). Informative display collection and presentation of historical facts upstairs, near the organ. The views of Kutna Hora from the church's site are splendid.

The Czech Museum of Silver is a small museum located in the historic center of Kutna Hora, offering insights into silver mining and local mining history. Visitors can explore an underground mine and view exhibits showcasing the city's rich mining heritage. Additionally, the museum is housed in Hradek (Little Castle), providing a unique setting for learning about the region's silver industry.
There’s two parts to this museum, part 1 is the exhibition and part 2 is the guided tour into the mine. You can choose to just go for one of them, or both. The tour was an amazing experiencing going into a real mine. I appreciate that they are concerned of our safety and pre-warned everyone about the enclosed environment we will be in. There’s two guides in the tour, one leading us and one following us at the back to ensure our safety. There is even a small fake mine to test our claustrophobia before we go in to the real mine. In the middle of the mine, our tour guide even simulated the conditions that the miners mined in. They were very knowledgeable and shared the history of Kutna Hora, the process of mining silver and even the lives of the miners. One tip is to join the tour with lesser people, because the mine is really small and cramped. The tour group can go up to 25 people but our small group of 7 people seemed perfect. There are Czech and English tours, but they also provided a file with translated version of the tour if you require. You can also buy a plain coin from the counter and mint your own coin using a hammer.

Museum of Silver in Kutha Hora is hidden gem of the city of Kutna Hora. It combines an exhibition of silver mining history in the region, with lots of very interesting information AND most importantly it also includes guided tour in the original silver mi e from 14th century. You walk through very narrow corridors 30 meters under the ground, you literally feel like traveling back in time. Absolutely amazing!!!
Vladimir N — Google review
We did the silver museum mine tour which was wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and conducting her first tour in English and she was very good! The tour was fascinating and covered the history, the process of mining, the tools and of course a visit down the mine itself. Book the tour ahead of time as places are limited. I would consider this a must if visiting Kutna Hora. Loved it.

Definitely high light of the day in Kutna Hora. Found this tour available in the afternoon and didn’t expect much, but it literally made our day. Great experience go under the silver mine, tour guide speaks very clearly. (We did the salt mine tour 4 days ago in Krakow, and this one is much better than that) Smaller group tour walking in the narrow tunnels, fun and educational experience.

I didn't know what to expect from this tour, but wow did I enjoy this one. Ondrej who was our guide did a great job explaining the mines and how they made coins. Don't miss this.

Fantastic tour of a recently rediscovered mine shaft from the middle ages, the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the towns history regarding silver mining and coin making throughout the Holy Roman Empire.

probably the best museum experience in my life. we got in tour with a very sweet english-speaking lady, who very passionately answered all of our questions and showed us the mines underneath Kutna Hora. we were a small group of 3 and we had plenty of space to crawl around. the upper building of Hradek is another museum exhibition about history of Kutna Hora and its silver mines, which is also very interesting to learn. must visit if you are in this sweet town. two combined tickets cost us 540czk, which is very cheap for this kind of experience
Anatoliy — Google review
This doesn't feel safe at all. You've been taken through the deep mine corridors, 24 persons all at once, no first aid kits, no means of evacuation. Some parts of the route are as narrow as 40sm in width, and 120 sm in height, so think twice before deciding to go down, especially if you're prone to claustrophobic or panic attacks. Instructors doesn't stress hard enough how narrow is this place, I believe if they have showed some video footage of what it's like... Anyway, you've been warned!

The Museum of Chocolate and Marzipan is a delightful attraction that offers a whimsical experience with its intricate marzipan dioramas. Visitors can embark on an educational journey through the history of chocolate, from ancient times to modern-day confections, while admiring impressive chocolate sculptures depicting various figures. The museum also provides insight into the process of crafting chocolate and marzipan, complete with adorable displays.
Great fun for our little ones from 3-10 years, they had so much fun admiring all the chocolate exhibits, then making their own creations using marzipan and sprinkles. The smell of cocoa, especially by the train, is amazing. There is a fairytale underground. One of them is very dark and could be quite scary for the very young ones. ….Still having fun at home with the marzipan multi color kits, making food for dollies and such.

I did not go to the museum, because the ticket is expensive - 280 czk. But I bought a delicious chocolate bar here. Truly great quality Bean to Bar chocolate
M — Google review
This is the type of place that could be so bad that it was good, but the smell inside just makes it awful. though it does have some highlights like Mr. Bean and his car made out of chocolate, and who can forget Check Republics largest interactive chocolate train. The barbies with dresses made out of a combination of chocklate and fabric, the rosedress (also combo), the small devils in the basement who just drink all day instead of processing the chocolate. Basically, the type of exibit that may scarare your kids enough to give them nightmares... help you take a break from chocolate (who am I kidding, just go get a new chocolatebar, and you'll be fine). But if you are looking for a place to scare your kids off chocolate, this is the place for you! Or if you are in the erea and curious about just how bad this can be and have time to spare, I'd say go for it. It's deffenetly a memorable place ✨️

Disclaimer: Do not visit this museum! We were in Tabor and the museum was around the corner from our apartment so we wanted to give it a try. Compared to the other very reasonable priced museums in town, the ticket is way too expensive (250 crowns per adult, that’s around 10€). Most of the exhibited chocolate models are old and there are tons of food moths flying around. The smell in some rooms is disgusting which is weird for a museum about chocolate and marzipan. We were totally disappointed as we did not learn anything about chocolate or marzipan making. The only slightly interesting thing was the so called „Fairy Cellar“ which reminded us of the museum of the Husseits in the center of town. To be honest I wouldn’t even go here if it was free, what a waste of time and money.
Celina B — Google review
A neat little museum dedicated to chocolate and marzipan. There's plenty of information (much of it in English as well as Czech) about the history and production of our favourite sweet treat. All the best displays are actually made of marzipan; there's some impressive models (including the town square and the castle) made in exquisite detail. OK, so the fairy tale cellar is a bit odd (maybe one for the kids!), and it's a little on the expensive side, but if you're in Tábor it's worth a look. Tip: Try the hot chocolate. It's pure melted chocolate (variety of types to choose from), served in espresso cups. You don't need more than that!
Robin W — Google review
If you have 270 czk , don't spend it here go to coffee budik in front. Strange creatures are making strange noises in the basement. Just think, it was such a worthless activity that even paying 40 CZK would have been heartbreaking. Seven of us visited. We could have probably bought two acres of cocoa tree land with the entrance fee in total we gave.
Ebrar O — Google review
Visiting the chocolate museum was such a great experience! It has exhibits and activities for younger children and for adults. There's also a workshop where we could make our own chocolate and marzipan creations.

The Hussite Museum in Tabor is a must-visit for those interested in the city's rich history tied to the Hussite religious movement. Founded by Protestant radicals known as Taborites in 1420, the museum offers insights into this significant period of Czech history. Visitors can explore the underground cellars around the main square, where a guided tour provides a glimpse into their historical use and significance.
Very interesting and illustrative museum. Also suitable for children as there is a lot to touch and experience for yourself. Unfortunately, not everything is in English. The guided tour through the catacombs was also only in Czech with accompanying material to read in many languages. But the staff make a lot of effort to overcome any language barriers and the whole museum conveys Czech national pride and the importance of the Hussites for the Czech Image today.

Interesting tour of underground tunnels around the central square of Tábor. Unfortunately there is only a card provided in all other languages (English, German, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, etc) and many of the details of the tour are lost because they are not described on the cards.

We went with no expectations and were pleasantly surprised! The exhibition seems to be recently renewed. It features a lot of interactivity, digital materials and the overall installation is on a very nice level. We enjoyed our visit! Thanks!

Worth a look, very good interesting Tabor city, Reformation & Hussite history. Most of the exhibits are in Czech. The tunnel tour is worth a look. Request an English tour and you might be lucky to get an English speaker. Otherwise they supply an information sheet in English. There are also lockable wine vats to place bags or backpacks in as well.
Peter — Google review
A good museum showing the history the Hussites and Tabor. There is a surprising amount in this museum and if you have an interest in the history of the Hussites, this is the place for you. There are quite detailed exhibits showing much of the history. Under the museum lies a series of tunnels that can be travelled through with a guide. However it is worth noting that the guide spoke only Czech and for someone who is not a Czech speaker, the tunnels might be less interesting, although still quite good.
David D — Google review
I thought it was wonderful. I was the only one on the tour, possibly because I came on a Wednesday morning in January when it was snowing. The underground tour is extensive, and I learned a lot about how people lived hundreds of years ago. On ground level, there is a museum dedicated to two Czech heroes: Jan Hus and Jan Ziska. You should learn about them.

Nestled on a prominent rock overlooking the Sazava River, Český Šternberk Castle is a Gothic and Baroque marvel dating back to the 13th century. It is still owned by the original family who built it nearly 800 years ago. The castle boasts well-preserved Gothic architecture with some later Baroque additions.
Beautiful and impressive place. The interiors very interesting and in a good shape. Visiting the castle is only possible with the guide who talks in Czech, but we got our leaflets with all info in Polish. The tour takes approx. 1 hour. On Sunday the tours were quite often so we didn't have to wait long for the next one. You have to pay extra for the possibility to take pictures inside.

Český Šternberk Castle is a stunning medieval fortress perched above the Sázava River. Beautifully preserved, with rich interiors and a unique family history that goes back to the 13th century. One of the must-visit castles in the Czech Republic.

Extremely interesting location! Half an hour to drive from Prague. Good parking, 50 CZK (2 euro) (it is necessary to pay in the Castle when buying entrance tickets - 250 CZK - 10 euro). The castle belongs to one of the descendants of the Sternberg family. Inside you will see a lot of interesting things, rooms, furnitures - knight's hall, salon, chapel, ladies' salon, library (3500 copies of old books), dining room, office, hall, smoking room, bedroom, hunting salon. The tour takes about an hour in Czech. But there is a printed description in other languages, the description should be taken free of charge when buying tickets. In the courtyard of the castle is a nice restaurant with normal prices. Definitely recommend to anyone interested in medieval castles

Wasn’t able to catch a tour as we went in the evening in November and they closed at 2pm. However, this was a blessing, as we captured such an amazing sunset, and the gorgeous autumn colors of the forests around the castle were spectacular! There are walking trails all around, amazing views from the town below, and very few people around.
Quinton W — Google review
It may not be the most famous castle, but it is a genuine example of a working castle that is lived in by the same family that built the original part of the castle in 1241. The history in between was somewhat turbulent for the family, which makes for a fascinating story, and the visit was all the more memorable for that. I am glad I took the tour. Thanks to my tour guide, Maria.

A well maintained castle in a beautiful area. Very happy they offer English tours. Our guide was knowledgeable, shared a lot of information and was able to answer all our questions. She was very patient with us and had a warm personality. You can get a few refreshing drinks and snacks to enjoy in the court. Very good homemade lemonades. The prices are mostly fair, though they ask for a €2 camera license if you want to take pictures, which is absolutely silly.

The Konopiste Castle

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
The Konopiste Castle is a Baroque palace that was built over a medieval and Renaissance castle. It was once the home of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, an enigmatic figure who used it as his ideal country retreat. The castle is located amid extensive grounds 2km west of the town of Benesov and showcases the archduke's twin obsessions: hunting and St George.
Fantastic historic castle to visit about 45 minutes by train outside Prague and only €12 return. Still furnished and filled with military & hunting memorabilia as Archduke Franz Ferdinand had it just over 100 years ago. The coffee shop inside has some divine pastries as well.
Gary M — Google review
Visiting Konopiště Castle was absolutely wonderful. The interior tour was fascinating, with room after room full of history and interesting trinkets. There’s so much to see. I was especially surprised to see an elevator inside such an old castle. Just be aware: the tours are only available in Czech, however there's audio guides available in English, German, and some other languages. The on-site chocolate shop was a sweet surprise. The variety of chocolates was impressive, and everything I tried was absolutely delicious. I only wish I could have sampled them all! Sadly the rose garden was not yet in bloom during our visit, but I'm very sure it is a sight to be seen. The presence of so many peacocks wandering the grounds added a magical touch. A peaceful walk around the nearby lake was the perfect way to end the visit—calm, scenic, and incredibly relaxing. All in all, Konopiště Castle is a must see. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It blends rich history, natural beauty, and charming surprises.
V O — Google review
Fairy-tale like castle and adjacent grounds with 3 excellent tours; note that each is charged separately and there is an option to get an audio guide in English. During the Franz/Sophie private apartment tour you'll be able to see a set of truly touching drawings made by their daughter showing the alegory of the assassination - taking photos is forbidden and unfortunately I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. There is also a temporary exibition of historical clothing of the nobility with an incredible guide.
Predrag M — Google review
A visit to Konopiště castle will bring you back in time to the beginning of the 20th century when it belonged to the heir to the Habsburg throne. He and his family lived in splendid seclusion oblivious to what the future holds for them. You have a choice from several tours out of which the one through the private chambers of the family is as close as you can get to the royals of that time.
Miroslav K — Google review
There are 4 tours at different hours. You need more time to see at least 2 of them. The castle is well maintained. have beautiful views. Also there are deers, peacocks and bear (that was somewhere inside). No photos allowed inside of this castle!

Wow! Just WOW! It's simply impossible to see everything in one tour. That's why there are 4 different routes for sightseeing tours. Unfortunately, we were only able to visit tour 2. But I haven't seen so many medieval weapons and everything else in a long time. Unfortunately, you can't take pictures inside. Come and see! You definitely won't regret it! Parking for a day costs 100 CZK, which is 4 euros. There are also many interesting things around the castle, such as a park, a rose garden, a mini zoo
Oleksandr P — Google review
Interesting castle in a beautiful location. You can see why Franz Ferdinand loved being there...shame he took so much of the local wildlife out! Seeing where Kaiser Wilheim & von Tirpitz stayed overnight was fascinating...same furniture, same wallpaper. I would recommend seeing this is the Spring or Summer...the rose gardens are meant to be beautiful & the Kaiser loved them. Going mid October meant the gardens weren't in bloom and you could tell is was closing for the season. I finished a tour at 3pm and the restaurant and cafe were already closed so I couldn't get a drink. The guides were so knowledgeable & friendly but the commentary on the audio guides should be more detailed. The Czech version was much longer for almost every room!! If you take the trsin from Prague & walk there, you get off at Benesov & wonder where is the castle?? The area is quite industrial. But go over the bridge, turn left, then right fork & it's a really beautiful walk right up to the back of the castle, through the forest. I intend to go again but in Summer & I will take drinks this time!!

The castle is nice, and the exhibits are very accessible, but not more to mention. There is no English tour, which makes it a bit boring for non Czech speakers. The gardens are charming, and kids can spend a few hours easily running in and between the labyrinths.

The staff for the first few days were absolutely amazing. The children's room had a few hazards, which inevitably led to a girl splitting her head open on a table that didn't have the plastic covering on a metal end, some tables had the plastic while others didn't. The toy box had nails sticking out. When the girl split her head, they removed the hazards upon my wife's request. I was in the room playing with the kids when this happened. The staff, who hadn't been there yet this week, were unprofessional. Saying things like "if you have a personal problem you should go home" or "If they would've watched their kids this wouldn't have happened" A simple apology would've sufficed, but they tried to save face instead. They have since decided to close the children's area instead of making it safer. Before this with the staff previously, it was the best hotel service I'd experienced. The cleaning ladies, the kitchen ladies and people at the front were absolute angels to my children, prior to this. It seems to me it was upper management who were the rude ones. Regardless, due to regulations in Czech Republic, anything labeled as a children's area should be free of hazards and should be frequently inspected by staff. I had planned to come back next year and rent out a better room, but unless there is some type of apology, I will not be returning. This would've been a five start review before this experience. I hope they find some way to rectify this experience, I'd love to give them the opportunity to apologize and compensate for their rudeness. If they do act professional, I definately would change my review. As of now, I won't be returning annually as I had planned.

Great place to visit , though a bit expensive in season. The multiple labyrinths located around the château gardens keep kids occupied for a few hours. Park Průhonice, established in 1885 by Count Arnost Emanuel Silva-Tarouca, is a stunning 19th-century landscaped park just outside the Prague boundary. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features a Renaissance Revival Castle, several lakes, forest walks, and meadows along the Botic stream valley. The park covers about 250 hectares and is home to native and exotic trees as well as rare plant species.
So far, it is the best park I have seen beyond Prague. The park is huge and spacious. It takes 3-4 hours to walk around the whole area. There is a cafe at the entrance. Not much option, mainly cakes,a couple of sandwiches and drinks. There are many benches and some tables along the way.But the best is you can sit on the grass and just have a picnic. The paths are mostly flat and well paved. There is an entrance fee, and you are allowed to bring your dog inside.Just get your pet a ticket. The dogs should be on a leash, but no muzzle is required. It is very calm, and you can totally disconnect in nature.Personally, I prefer this much more than the botanical garden in the city centre.

Beautiful place near Prague. Great for walks but you have to pay 150entry (parking also if needed). There is a coffee place in the palace, but quite pricey (obviously). The park is amazingly beautiful, so I strongly recommend for a walk with whoever you like - if it is a dog, leash is needed :)

This is a gorgeous château park that has a beautiful botanical garden, lakes, walking paths, a château and a a picnic place. There is a cozy little cafe in the chateau courtyard. The park is a popular weekend destination especially during sunny weather. The entry is not free, but it's easy to purchase a ticket online or in the giftshop at the entrance to the park. We absolutely love this place and visit often.

We visited Průhonice Park in Prague and it was absolutely beautiful. We took the red trail (about 10 km) which was excellent—quiet, scenic, and very close to nature. You can get a map from the ticket office outside, and the entry fee is 150 CZK for adults. The walk was so peaceful, and I especially enjoyed seeing the variety of succulents, likely maintained by the Institute of Botany (one of the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences). I highly recommend this place for nature lovers

Průhonice Park is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places near Prague. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing walk surrounded by nature — with scenic lakes, forest paths, and colourful gardens that look amazing in every season. The park is beautifully maintained, and the mix of open meadows, streams, and old trees makes it feel like something out of a fairytale. The Průhonice Castle adds a magical touch, especially when reflected in the water below. It’s a great place for photography, picnics, or just unwinding away from the busy city. Easy to reach by car or bus, and there’s plenty of space to explore for a few hours. Highly recommended for nature lovers and anyone looking for a peaceful escape near Prague

The Basilica of St. James, also known as Bazilika Sv. Jakuba, may seem unassuming from the outside, but its interior is a stunning display of baroque art and architecture. The long nave is adorned with gilded statues and paintings under a beautifully frescoed ceiling depicting stories of the Virgin Mary's life. One of its most revered treasures is the bejeweled Madonna Pietatis highlighted by blue light at the altar.
Basilica of St. James is a stunning catholic church located near Old Town Square. Have to look a little bit. The outside of the church is uniquely decorated. The church was built in the gothic architecture sytle and then rebuilt in the Baroque architecture style in the 1600’s due to a fire.

The exterior facade belies the gorgeous interior within. I love the intricate carvings in the church's interior. The high ceiling is simply magnificent. The natural light coming in from windows made the entire place look really beautiful. I am sure the acoustics would also be amazing here as well.

Do not pay for this!!! The basilica museum is CLOSED! They need money to renovate the actual Basilica but this isn’t the way to do it (completely overcharging and swindling tourists!!!) The Basilica itself is a church, which you should never have to pay to go into. It’s filthy, dark with lots of paintings that you can’t make out! Half of the church is fenced off with the word “alarm” which is disappointing and you can’t get to the second level! The organ is incredible and the ceiling is beautifully detailed and ornate but isn’t worth the price to see when so many others exist for cheaper or free! The garden is disappointing, not well kept with artificial plants, no landscaping and weeds and again, half of it fenced off! The cellar is bizarre- two empty stone rooms with fairy lights ?!? And a local seller trying to sell fake plants ? In a Church ? The rooms lead onto business like meeting rooms, halls and corridors that eventually lead to a cafe and exhibition type space. This was not mentioned when we bought the tickets and made us feel like we had been swindled!! The spaces were modern, filled with questionable art, decor and smells; I felt like I was in a living room, and it wasn’t a saint’s! Poor information, poor communication and poor pricing! Maybe even poor morals ! Either completely privatise it or keep it open for fall to see! Over complicated ticket choices (4-5 to choose from) and the girl didn’t say which one did what or what we were paying for. Watch out- one of the tickets advertises a coffee or tea tasting which is from another local seller. You can’t access any higher floors, views or towers and the basilica museum is CLOSED! Get a pic of the amazing door outside and MOVE ON.

Basilica of St. James is a stunning catholic church located near Old Town Square. Have to look a little bit. The outside of the church is uniquely decorated. The church was built in the gothic architecture sytle and then rebuilt in the Baroque architecture style in the 1600’s due to a fire. The inside of the church is just majestic with amazing statues, decoration, and a beautiful alter and organ. The church is huge. It was built in the 13th century for the Franciscans and serves as a burial site for Count Vratislav of Mitrovice and is home to Madonna Pietatis. This church is a must see when in Prague. I loved my visit.

Another interesting piece of architecture in the city. There are hundreds of hidden gems throughout Prague and this is a nice site to visit when exploring.

Past reviews are spot on. The shriveled arm is hanging high up on the wall to your right as you step foot in the Basilica. According to legend a thief tried to steal the Madonna Pietatis from the altar. His hand froze when he touched it and the monks had to cut of his arm for the hand to let go. The arm was hung as a warning.

Wonderfully ornate and impressive baroque church in Old Town Prague within easy walking distance of Old Town Square. This church is free to visit but it does close during the day from 12 noon to 2 PM so avoid these times.

Good to observe but you can’t approach the paintings. I hoped to find outside the shell of Santiago de Compostella and I didn’t find it. But worth to see the church. It’s free.
