A stunning example of engineering and natural beauty combined! Rana Pratap Sagar Dam offers breathtaking views of the Chambal River, especially during sunset. The peaceful atmosphere, calm water, and scenic surroundings make it a perfect spot for relaxation and photography. If you're lucky, you might also spot birds and local wildlife near the reservoir. The dam is an important source of irrigation and power generation, and a proud asset of Rajasthan. 📷 Tip: Visit during monsoon or post-monsoon for lush greenery and full water levels. Security restrictions apply — follow local guidelines. Entry may be limited in certain zones. 💡 Nearby: Don’t miss Baroli Temples and the Atomic Energy Township views if you’re in the area. A perfect weekend getaway — serene, silent, and scenic!

The dam holding the Chambal River is an incredible sight, offering both natural beauty and an impressive display of engineering. The view from the dam is absolutely breathtaking—vast waters of the river stretch out beneath a stunning backdrop of lush greenery and rocky landscapes. The way the river flows, controlled by the dam, adds a sense of tranquility, making it a perfect spot to take in the beauty of nature. The integrated power plant is equally fascinating, showcasing how the force of the river is harnessed to generate electricity. It’s amazing to witness how such a massive infrastructure not only serves as a crucial water management system but also supports the region’s power needs. The area around the dam is peaceful and perfect for sightseeing, though it can get busy at peak times. Overall, it’s a must-see for those interested in both natural wonders and renewable energy. Highly recommended!
Batman S — Google review
I traveled to this place from Chambal Fertilizers, Gadepan (approx. 90 km) by car. The final 30 km is a bit challenging as it passes through a nearby forest reserve with no mobile network and narrow roads full of potholes, likely due to rain. It took me around 2.5 hours to reach, but due to heavy rain and a flood alert, I couldn’t explore the dam fully. Still, it was a thrilling experience to add to my journey. I recommend visiting in October or November, after the monsoon to explore it in a much better way. A must visit place with friends or family!

Awesome place..becomes very beautiful when dam gates are open.. but careful. Not to venture into water as current is very high and there can be sudden rush of water due to either gate opening or hydel power plant starting.

It is located just outskirt the city of Rawatbhata when you are coming from kota ,you don’t need to enter the Rawatbhata, You will find them just 3 km before the city. It is such a peaceful place.Must go place.

Baroli Temples – Ancient Indian Artitecture Group of 9-11 temples are placed here from around 11th century. This complex is so beautifully decorated with decorative trees & flowering plants & along with the ancient & historic look of the temples, the overall effect is divine. Such exquisitely carved idols & rock cut structures are rarely found anywhere. Most disheartening thing is that some idols & brutally damaged by invaders centuries ago & it's beyond repair. This place is still missing from the outer side of the country. It can be developed as a tourist destination. Very huge & marvelous structures can be seen here. It must be protected for future generations. Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sanjay B — Google review
The Baroli Temples Complex, also known as the Badoli temples, is located in Baroli village in Rawatbhata City in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan, India. The complex of eight temples is situated within a walled enclosure; an additional temple is about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) away. They are built in the Gurjara Pratihara style of temple architecture dated to the tenth century A.D. All nine temples are under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India for conservation and protection. A well known art critic characterised "the creations of Badoli as the most perfect of their age that he had encountered within that part of the country and, in their own peculiar style." Though the history of the Baroli Temples is not very clear, they are reported to have been built during the Gurjara-Pratihara Empire in the 10th–11th centuries. They are one of the earliest temple complexes in Rajasthan. A carved stone image of the god Nataraja was stolen from the Baroli temple complex in 1998. It has been traced to a private collector in London. However, the statue has now been recovered. The 10th-century Baroli Temples are of great architectural interest, consisting of temple structures built in the Gurjara-Pratihara architectural style, with exquisitely carved stonework. They are in differing stages of upkeep, with some in a semi-ruined state. There are 8 major temples in Baroli and a ninth about one kilometre away. Four temples are dedicated to Shiva (including Ghateshwara Mahadeva Temple), two to Durga and one each to Shiva-Trimurti, Vishnu and Ganesha. The Nataraja (Natesha) images carved in these temples are similar to those seen at Upramala. The sculpture has 16 arms and its headdress is matted. There is a large diadem carved at the centre top of the skull, which is "garnished with beaded swags." The facial features are very fine, with high arched brows and full mouth. Great Day Well Spent ❤️ Just Loved this place 💕

9th Century Group of Temples with splendid stone carvings and architecture. The architecture here resembles temples in orissa. We reached here randomly on the way to Mukundra Hills National Park. But it was a good find. Very well maintained and clean. The ASI officer on the gate was very kind enough to explain us about the monuments and history of the place.

Great natural place with scenic view and beautiful flora and fauna all around. It also hosts a beautiful shiv ji temple near the waterfall which has natural water running over it. Specially recommend vising this place in rainy season although it is advised to be cautious at all times in this season because of flash flooding. Also there are 300 steps to go to the waterfall so plan accordingly. Still all in all highly recommend this place if u love natural scenic places.

This place is beautiful with some best scenatic views,it is few kilometres away from kota but if you are in kota you can go there capture some good pictures of yours and also when you go down the stairs you can do a little bit of trekking on the stones and do a small adventure. What will you get after crossing the stones? A more amazing view and a small waterfall that you can see from stairs. ****How to get there?***** You can get there on your bike or can get a car. There is a guard upfront and you have to leave your vehicle there and cross the rest of distance by walking which is also fun

Alok S — Google review
Giving one star due to bad services of reliance store। I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service, processes, and lack of proper monitoring at your store in Kota. During my recent visit, I purchased several items, but the overall experience was highly disappointing. The invoicing and gate-out procedures were extremely inefficient. Specifically, between 3rd july 2025, 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM, during the item verification process at the exit gate (which opens inside the mall), I inadvertently left behind two umbrellas. Upon realizing this within 30 minutes, I immediately contacted the store. However, I was informed that the items were no longer in their possession. This suggests a severe lapse in monitoring and security within the premises. Furthermore, the staff displayed a lack of professionalism and competence, which further exacerbated the situation. I expect better service standards, especially concerning customer care and loss prevention measures. I urge you to address these issues promptly to prevent similar incidents in the future. I would appreciate a response regarding the steps you plan to take to improve your processes and service quality.

Nestled along the picturesque banks of Kishore Sagar Lake in Kota, Rajasthan, the Seven Wonders Park is a delightful destination that showcases miniature replicas of some of the world's most iconic landmarks. Here, you can marvel at stunning versions of the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Christ the Redeemer, Colosseum, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Great Pyramid of Giza, and Statue of Liberty—all crafted with impressive detail. On the banks of kishore sagar lake, a very decent park with very nice replication of all the 7 wonders of the world. Take atleast an hour or two and enjoy every monument and the lake too. You may even try the speed boat ride from here. Toilets are there but very badly managed, and an okok type eatery. Only 20 rs entry charges, parking extra.

Seven Wonders Park in Kota is one of the most unique and attractive destinations in the city, drawing visitors of all ages. The miniatures include the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Great Pyramid of Giza, Taj Mahal, Christ the Redeemer, and Rome’s Colosseum. The park is especially charming in the evening when it is illuminated with colorful lights, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. The backdrop of Kishore Sagar Lake further enhances its beauty, providing a perfect setting for leisurely walks and peaceful moments. For families, it is a wonderful picnic spot where children can enjoy exploring and learning about world monuments. Couples and friend groups also find it a relaxing place to spend quality time. One of the best aspects of Seven Wonders Park is its affordability. The entry fee is minimal, which makes it accessible for everyone. Cleanliness and maintenance are also fairly good, adding to the overall experience. Small food stalls and vendors nearby offer snacks, making it convenient for visitors. However, the park can get crowded on weekends and holidays, so those who prefer a quieter experience may enjoy visiting on weekdays. Parking facilities are available but could be better organized during peak hours. Overall, Seven Wonders Park is a must-visit attraction in Kota. It combines entertainment, education, and relaxation in one place, giving visitors a memorable experience of seeing world-famous monuments without traveling across the globe.

A must visit if you are in Kota, great for young kids. Visited 7 Wonders Park after a while. Disappointed with the overall upkeep and housekeeping of this one of a kind tourist attraction in Kota. There is weed growing on Statue of Liberty and The Pyramid. The entire premises and the monuments are poorly lit. Didn't see enough security personnel in the park which is another big concern A humble request to the authorities to take action and restore the beauty and glory of this landmark

Survaya ki Garhi (Archaeological Site) 10th century

Mentioned on

Historic Sites
Survaya ki Garhi is an obscure archaeological site dating back to the 10th century. It boasts a fort with ancient stone temples adorned with intricate carvings, as well as a monastery and courtyard. The campus has been well-preserved, featuring impressive landscaping and walls spanning a large area. Located near Shivpuri and Scindia Chatri, this hidden gem is worth visiting despite lacking available guides on-site.
It is a wonderful experience to visit Survaya Gadhi of the 10th century. It is well maintained to the level best ASI. The stone carving and detailing is awesome. We were on our way to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh, very close to the highway and short of time to explore.
Milind K — Google review
This historical fort lies in an excellent condition, thanks to the ASI. However the surrounding area is encroached upon by the villagers because of which the last 100 meters section of the road is filled with cow dung and mud. There's a small parking space. The whole fort was empty when we visited. The monument has been renovated and restored by ASI. The pathways are properly marked and the site was clean as well. There are few temples in ruined state along with a Hindu monastery. You can visit this when traveling from Shivpuri to Jhansi.
Deepak S — Google review
Surwaya Ki Garhi in Shivpuri is an underrated treasure for history enthusiasts and travelers looking to explore Madhya Pradesh's cultural heritage. The architectural beauty of the ancient fort, combined with the serene surroundings, creates a unique experience. The carvings and remnants of the structure give a glimpse into the rich history and craftsmanship of the bygone era. Though the place might not be as popular as other forts in the region, its raw and untouched beauty makes it a must-visit for those who love offbeat destinations. However, the site could benefit from better maintenance and facilities for tourists. Proper signage and historical information boards would add a lot to the experience. If you are in Shivpuri, don't miss the chance to explore this hidden gem. It's a perfect blend of history, architecture, and tranquility!
Vikrant T — Google review
Amazing architecture work around the 9th century, beautiful design and carving in stone, everyone needs to visit here once . A mixture of many architectures work here Hinduism, Mughal and English. Beautiful Place, restoration again 20th centuries.
FARHAN K — Google review
Located off the Shivpuri – Jhansi Road is the Survaya ki Garhi. It is an ancient fortress which housed a Hindu monastery in the olden days. We visited on a Monday morning; the ruins were empty of crowds then. After parking our car, we entered via a circuitous route through stone walls. This was followed by a path in between two gardens and having a board that talked about the Garhi. The monastery & the temples were built first. The monastery also had an ‘overall auspiciousness’ temple on its roof. The fortress was built later, in the 11th-12th century, presumably to protect the monastery & the temples. As per the inscriptions, the monastery was linked to the Shaiva sect. it was originally a two – storeyed building though the upper storey now survives only partially. The Scindias renovated it when they ruled over these parts. The whole premises are built out of stone. While there is no ticket, you do have to make entries into a register. The temples are three in number. Though all of them have lost their ‘shikhar’ now, they are still sights to behold. The most prominent one was the Shiva Temple. This ancient Temple is lovely with its carvings worth seeing. In front of it, broken pieces that were excavated, but which could not be put together, are displayed on the ground, giving the viewer a sense of what architecture existed then. To the right of the Shiva Temple are a stepwell & an elevated platform. Bougainvillea plants, with their gay flowers, completed the picture perfectness of the Garhi. We then explored the monastery, climbing also onto its first floor. The stairs are narrow & steep; so, caution has to be exercised. The first floor gave a stupefying view of the premises. The ground floor had small, dark rooms around a sunlit courtyard. The Survaya ki Garhi does need proper roads leading up to it. A cleanliness drive is required too as the penultimate areas are splashed with cow dung. Even though it’s maintained by the ASI, it can be really puckered up to attract more sightseers, like having guides or more inscriptions.

Must visit for the people who love ancient indian architecture. These masterpieces of ancient Indian art & architecture that lie unexplored by most of the tourists and locals of the city. Despite having existed in the area for centuries together, the brilliant archaeological site of surwaya wasn’t known and acknowledged unitl fairly recently.
Kanishk J — Google review
It's a Fort with very old Stone Carved Temples inside. The stone carvings on the temple is very intricate and mesmerising. The whole campus takes you back in time. Very good landscaped area outside. It also houses a Monastery inside with a lovely courtyard. This is not a hill Fort hence the wall of the Fort is very well made and spread in a large area. This is very close to Shivpuri and Scindia Chatri. Worth a visit. No guides available here but the history of the Fort and Temples is mentioned on the name plate outside the main gate.

If you are really looking for peace then you should definitely visit this place. There are group of temples and each one has its own significance. You can come here and spend some quality time, doing meditation. There was no cost or ticket price here. It’s in a small hill in MP.

A total of 77 jain temples are there on the mountain. Many Dharmshala's to stay beneath the hill and around 28 temples in each dharmshala's. Very calm and mesmerizing place. Recommend to visit this place in the monsoon or winter time. Because of too much hotness after walking on the hill towards each temple.

Peaceful place, as of now not many people visiting so it's clean and nice. People are good and nice to talk and give instructions. View is amazing from. Not too much steep except a few area but you will enjoy the visit. Definitely go to place if visiting Maa pitambara Datiya, it is hardly 15 kms.
Vishal D — Google review
One of the most beautiful Jain temples. This is a fantastic site to visit, especially during the monsoon season with so many peacocks and bird melodies, the environment is calm and peaceful. This is a holy and peaceful place. A wonderful location where every single thing is holy. Lord Chandraprabhu is the most notable person associated with this location. This is a must-see location, as the air is quite relaxing. One of Jain's most popular pilgrimages.

Majestic&Mysterious Datia Palace An absolutely hidden gem & also known as the Satkhanda Palace & Bir Singh Ji Deo Palace, this resplendent 7storeyed palace is an excellent representation of Indo-Islamic style of architecture. Located on the Gwalior - Jhansi highway and only 75kms from Gwalior this is palace is A MUST SEE for those who love to get a peak into the bundela Dynasty history. They're are local guides available at the entrance of the palace, though most of the information is available online. Ticket costs Indians -25Rs Time taken to see palace -1.5hours This 400+ rooms palace is said to have never been inhabited by the king who commissioned it in 1620A.D(neither his family)nor the emperor ( Jehangir) for whom it was built. Historians believe that after the constructions Maharaja Deo Ji extended an invitation to the emperor, who politely declined, thus living it inhabited for time immemorial. The palace is built of purely stone and bricks. The architecture of arched doorways and domes and lattice work reflect Mughal influences, while sculptures and very few paintings depict birds, animals, and flowers in the Rajput style, one can see glimpses of it in certain parts of the palace. The beauty of the palace lies in its sheer size and space and the numerous chhatris crowned with ribbed domestic. A small part of the palace is under renovation but majority of it is open to public, so one can easily enjoy the grandeur of this place.

Datia Palace of King Veer Singh is absolutely stunning. Not sure why it is not promoted more. It's huge and takes time to explore. Wish there were guides to explain more on the history.

Datia Fort (Datia Palace) is a hidden gem for history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and those seeking a unique, off-the-beaten-path historical experience. Its architectural brilliance, intriguing history of being largely uninhabited, and the panoramic views it offers make it a truly memorable destination in Madhya Pradesh. It's a testament to the grandeur and artistic prowess of the Bundela rulers and provides a captivating glimpse into India's rich past.
Aditya S — Google review
Though not so well known it is a very nice place. Way to reach the palace was also not good. Ticket price for entry was reasonable. But guide charged Rs500. So we did not take a guide. The ground floors were bit dark. But the main palace area was very nice. Renovation work was in progress.
Jayita S — Google review
Discovering the gem of Bundelas is an adventure in itself. The narrow, rustic road, with cows ambling and potholes aplenty, might not prepare you for the breathtaking splendor of this eight-floored palace. Surprisingly, it was built but never inhabited. Navigating through the palace, adorned with mesmerizing wall paintings and intricate meenakari work, is like stepping into a different era. However, the maze-like structure can be disorienting, especially without a guide or fellow travelers. Traveling alone, as I did, made it a bit challenging to find my way out, with similar-looking doors leading to dead ends. The palace, though silent in terms of occupancy, speaks volumes through its art and architecture. Why visit? To witness a grand palace that diverges from the Rajput or Islamic styles, offering a unique historical perspective. However, if Indian medieval history doesn't captivate you, or if you're not a fan of sharing space with a bat family, this might not be your ideal destination.
Viraj T — Google review
Situated approximately 70 kms away from Gwalior. This palace is a perfect representation of Rajput and Mughal architecture, its a 7 storyed structure with some very beautiful blend of artistic ceiling and carvings. Highly recommended
Rajib L — Google review
The gem of Bundelas.. The narrow rustic road filled with cows and potholes doesn't make you ready to see the breathtaking magnificence of this palace. Hard to digest this 8floored palace was built but never lived. The yet there wall paintings, the meenakari work leaves you spellbound. It's easy to get lost if you are not with a guide or other travellers. So make sure you are not travelling here alone, as I was. It took me quite a long time to get out of here as all the doors looked the same leading to dead ends. Why will you visit? To see a palace which is not related to Rajputs or the Islam but equally grand. Why you should not? If Indian medievel history doesn't grab your attention, this is not for you. Especially with the infestations of bat family.
Jayasree M — Google review
Very nice place. Must visit if in Datia. Don't forget to go all the way up to the top floors. If you're lucky you might see some beautiful wall paintings.

Gopachal Jain Parvat, situated within the Gwalior Fort, is a remarkable site featuring ancient Jain rock-cut sculptures dating from the 7th to the 15th centuries. This collection of intricate carvings offers visitors a captivating glimpse into Jain iconography and history. The site is renowned for its grandeur and is a must-visit for history and architecture enthusiasts.
Wonderful place that has great sculptures that were sculpted into the hill side rocks. Jain tirthankar statues within caves. Need to leave your footwear at the base of the hill near a Jain temple and then climb up a flight of stairs up to the caves. There is also a Bawli (natural spring water well). The beautiful statues were disfigured by invaders.

A part of hills on which fort of Gwalior is located, having numerous statues of Jain Tirthankars of humongous size, carved out of hills. There are 5 different groups of Jain monuments located at these hills,Gopachal is one of them. Most of these monuments are carved out during 14th to 15 th centuries by local Jain worshippers ,by the permission of Tomar/parmar rulers who were ruling Gwalior at that time. The statues of tirthankrs are very beautiful,in standing and sitting position.you should have knowledge of Jainism to if you wish identify the specify tirthankar to which statue is dedicated. The most of the statues face were destroyed by various attackers mostly by Babur as statues was against his religious ideologies. Even the statues are not having faces, these monuments are capable to awestruck any visitors. This site is located near phool bagh area of Gwalior. This site is maintained by Jain community and seen as religious place by them. Thus you have to remove shoes and climb around 100 steps to visit this site ,even socks are not allowed. Entrance is free of cost. Site open from sunrise to sunset. 45 mins are required to visit this place.

Teli Temple

Sights & Landmarks
Teli Temple, also known as Teli Ka Mandir, is a captivating Hindu temple located within the Gwalior Fort complex in India. It stands as the tallest structure in the fort and boasts a fascinating blend of North and South architectural styles. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this ancient temple was historically used for oil processing before being taken over by the British.
During my exploration of Gwalior Fort on my visit to IIITM Gwalior, I stopped by the **Teli Temple (तेली टेंपल)** — one of the most striking and unique structures within the fort complex. The moment I saw it, I was amazed by its towering shikhara and distinctive blend of architectural styles — a fusion of North Indian *Nagara* and South Indian *Dravidian* influences that makes it stand out from anything else in Gwalior. Built around the 8th–9th century by the Pratihara rulers, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (though often associated with Shiva as well), and its name “Teli-ka-Mandir” is believed to come from the oil merchants (*telis*) who may have commissioned its restoration centuries later. The tall spire, intricate stone carvings, and grand entrance arch all speak of a time when craftsmanship was at its peak. Standing before it, surrounded by open courtyards and the quiet expanse of the fort, I felt both awe and peace — the temple exudes a sense of power and grace that transcends time. The sunlight falling on its red sandstone surface gave it a golden glow, and the silence around made the moment even more special. Visiting the Teli Temple was one of the highlights of my Gwalior Fort experience — a place where art, history, and spirituality meet in perfect harmony.

Teli Ka Mandir – A Unique Blend of Architecture! 📍 Location: Gwalior Fort, Madhya Pradesh 🏛 History: Built in the 8th–9th century by the Pratiharas, this is the tallest temple in Gwalior Fort. 🎭 Architecture: A rare mix of Dravidian and North Indian (Nagara) styles, with intricate carvings and a distinctive barrel-shaped roof. 🙏 Dedicated To: Originally to Lord Vishnu, later used for Shiva worship. 🌟 Highlights: Stunning sculptures of Hindu deities, Garuda, and mythical creatures on its walls. 🔎 How to Reach? Easily accessible inside Gwalior Fort, about 3 km from Gwalior Railway Station. A must-visit for history and architecture lovers exploring Gwalior Fort!

Teli temple also known as Teli ka Temple located within the Gwalior Fort Dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Matrikas. it has a rectangular sanctum instead of the typical square. temple is a classic example of a design based on musical harmonics in architecture
Preetham K — Google review
The Teli Ka Mandir, likely dating to the 8th-9th century under the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty, stands prominently in Gwalior Fort. Its unusual name, perhaps linked to the oil-pressers' guild, hints at its patrons or historical function. Architecturally, it presents a towering, rectilinear Dravidian style shikhara (pyramid-like roof) atop a typical Nagara base. This blend of North and South Indian fusion exemplifies a rare pan-Indian temple design. The massive stone exterior is heavily tiered, featuring vertical rathas and ornate niches. Wall niches host Hindu deities, mithuna couples, and apsaras, characteristic of the Pratihara style. The main doorway offers the finest ornamental display. Its elaborate doorjambs showcase delicate river goddesses, dwarpalas (gatekeepers), and finely detailed floral and geometric patterns, leading to the sanctuary. The inner sanctum (garbhagriha) is characteristically simple. Despite being originally dedicated to Vishnu, the Teli Temple is primarily a monument to architectural ambition and the masterful skill of its ancient builders.

Teli ki Mandir, which is built by the money earned from oil. Actually it is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Matrikas but, right now there are no idols left inside the temple 🛕. You can navigate 🧭 to here from Saas- Bahu temple and Gwalior Fort 🏰.

Mandir said to be built by Raja Mihir Bhoja. Funded by oil traders, hence the name. One of oldest structures. Tallest structure in Gwalior fort. Beautiful architecture. Lots of broken artefacts and wall pieces from the fort surroundings kept here in park.
Amit D — Google review
This temple gets its name from the fact that it was funded by merchants who traded in oil during the ancient times. The architecture is beautiful on the outside. However, it is not at all maintained on the inside as there is a foul smell of urine emanating from the interiors. A pretty sad deal breaker to an otherwise beautiful temple.

Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod Sahib Gwalior is a significant religious site located within the Gwalior fort, opposite to Teli ka Mandir. It was built in memory of the sixth Guru Sant Har Govind Singh and holds immense religious importance for Sikhs. The gurudwara is made of white marble adorned in gold and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Amazing Gurudwara with a lot of history. This is where Guru Hargobind singh was jailed by Jehangir. Also many other stories regarding many Hindu kings being jailed here as well. Place is very clean and tidy with lot of car parking also available outside. Good experience to visit the historical place!

Gurudwaras are always a divine experience and a blessed feeling. This one also is no exception, you feel calm and blessed inside. Although the Guru sevaks here looked slightly angry and I can understand their anger, the people of Gwalior behave so that anyone can become angry. But otherwise, everything was wonderful, loved it, even the langar prasad was also very tasty. It is there till 3 PM.

Visited Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod Sahib, Gwalior during my stay at IIITM. The place radiates peace and devotion — beautifully maintained and spiritually uplifting. We had langar there at noon, and it was a humbling experience — simple, delicious food served with so much warmth and love. Sitting inside the gurudwara, listening to the kirtan, and feeling the calm around was truly soothing. A must-visit if you’re in Gwalior, not just for the spiritual vibe but also for the sense of community it offers.

Gurudwara Shri Data Bandi Chhor Sahib, located within the historic Gwalior Fort, is a must-visit for its profound spiritual and historical significance. The gurudwara commemorates the imprisonment and subsequent release of the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib, who was held captive by Emperor Jahangir. The powerful story behind its name, "Data Bandi Chhor" (The Great Liberator), is that Guru Hargobind Sahib, upon his own release, insisted on freeing 52 other captive kings who were also imprisoned in the fort. The gurudwara's architecture, with its pristine white marble and traditional Sikh designs, creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors consistently praise the gurudwara for its cleanliness, calm ambiance, and the warmth of the community. The melodic kirtan (hymn-singing) fills the air, creating a deeply spiritual experience. A highlight for many is the opportunity to partake in the langar, the free community kitchen that serves all visitors, regardless of their background, embodying the core Sikh principles of equality and selfless service. The beautiful surroundings and the rich history make it a place of tranquility and reflection, offering a unique blend of spiritual solace and historical insight.

We had a truly wonderful experience at Gurudwara Data Bandi Chhod Sahib in Gwalior. The sewa and hospitality here are exceptional. The Gurudwara provides free rooms for visitors, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and comfort. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, equipped with AC, hot water, and all basic facilities one might need for a peaceful stay. The atmosphere is incredibly serene, and the sevadars are warm, helpful, and respectful. Staying here also gave me the opportunity to explore the historic significance of this sacred place, closely connected to Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and the story of Bandi Chhod Diwas. The surrounding area has several important historical sites that are enriching to visit and reflect upon. Overall, our stay was spiritually uplifting, comfortable, and memorable. I’m deeply grateful for the generous hospitality and the sense of peace this Gurudwara offers. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gwalior—whether for devotion, history, or simply a place to find calm. 🙏✨People Should stay here while they are going to Hazur Sahib🙏🏻🙏🏻

Gwalior Fort is one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. The fort sits on a high hill, so the first thing you notice is the view. You can see the whole city spread out below, which makes the climb feel worth it right away. Inside the fort, the highlights are Man Singh Palace, with its colourful tiles, and the Sas Bahu Temples, which have detailed carvings you can stare at for a long time. The Teli ka Mandir is another impressive spot and gives you a good sense of how old and diverse the architecture is. The fort is large, so walking around takes time, but it’s peaceful. If you enjoy history, this place is full of stories. The sound and light show in the evening is a nice way to wrap up the visit. Additionally, spending time at Chambal River Ghat offers a soothing view of clean and pollution-free water amidst beautiful landscapes.

I recently visited the Bateshwar Group of Temples near Morena, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable heritage trips I’ve had in Madhya Pradesh. The site is spread across a large area with beautifully carved temples, most of which date back centuries. What makes it truly special is the peaceful atmosphere—you can actually take your time walking around, exploring the ruins, and appreciating the detailed stonework without the usual rush of crowds. The restoration work by ASI is really commendable; many temples have been carefully reconstructed while keeping their original charm intact. The best time to visit is either early morning or late afternoon when the sunlight falls on the stones—it looks stunning and is perfect for photography. It’s a bit off the main highway, but the drive through the rural landscape is worth it. I’d suggest carrying water and some snacks, as there aren’t too many shops nearby. Overall, it’s a hidden gem for history lovers and anyone who enjoys architecture and calm surroundings.
Nilesh M — Google review
Tucked away in the rugged Chambal valley near Morena, Madhya Pradesh, the Bateshwar Group of Temples is one of India’s most astonishing yet lesser-known archaeological treasures. Spread across a picturesque hillside, this complex of over 200 sandstone temples—dating back to the 8th–10th century—was built during the Gurjara-Pratihara dynasty and dedicated primarily to Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Walking through Bateshwar feels like stepping into an open-air museum of medieval art. Each temple, though small in size, is adorned with intricate carvings—celestial figures, floral motifs, and divine scenes that reflect the craftsmanship of an era long past. What makes this site truly remarkable is its resurrection story: after centuries of ruin from earthquakes and invasions, it was painstakingly restored by the Archaeological Survey of India under the visionary work of archaeologist K.K. Muhammed. Set against the backdrop of rocky cliffs and lush greenery, Bateshwar radiates a quiet majesty. The scattered shrines, the echoing chants of peacocks, and the golden sunlight filtering through the temple spires create an atmosphere of divine serenity. For travelers, photographers, and history lovers, Bateshwar is more than a destination—it’s a rediscovered masterpiece that celebrates India’s enduring legacy of faith and artistry.

It's about 35 km away from Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh best time to visit from October to April.

For Solo Budget Travellers:- I took a bus from Gwalior Bus Stand to Nurabad, near Morena, Rs: 50/-. Bateswar is remortly located & only 2 buses go there from Nurabad, 1 at 12:30pm & another at 4pm. No sharing autos/ tempos. So at other times u need ur own vehicle or to hire an auto from Nurabad. I took an auto for Rs: 700/- to Bateshwar + Metaoli & back to Nurabad. Whole trip from & back to Nurabad took 4 hours. Must visit if in Gwalior. 108 shivlings present. Beautiful. However Metaoli is not worth visiting, the Chausat Yogini Temple there is totally restored, no part of it is original. Only stalls with chips/ wafers & water/ cold drinks present on whole trip. No tea. U will get food only in Nurabad.

Very beautiful. A little far off from major cities. Worth the effort of travelling here. Morning and evening are very beautiful. Most of it has been destroyed. What has been rebuilt is absolutely wonderful.

It's so beautiful and surreal to visit this place. You must visit atleast once because these are one of the few left Nagara (North Indian) style architecture Hindu Temples which are very rare. However it's 20kms from the highway detour so I suggest you visit during the early hours of the day as it becomes isolated by the evening.

Ekattarso Mahadev Mandir (Chausath Yogini Temple) Morena

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Hiking area
Historical landmark
Place of worship
Sacred & Religious Sites
Rising quietly from the rugged hills of Morena, Madhya Pradesh, the Ekattarso Mahadev Mandir, also known as the Chausath Yogini Temple, is a breathtaking fusion of spirituality, symmetry, and stone craftsmanship. Built in the 10th century during the Kachchhapaghata dynasty, this circular temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and the 64 Yoginis stands as one of India’s rare tantric shrines—and an architectural inspiration for the Indian Parliament building in New Delhi. The temple’s design is truly mesmerizing: 64 miniature shrines encircle the main sanctum, where the Ekattarso (71st) Mahadev, a magnificent Shiva Lingam, resides. Walking through the open-air corridors, surrounded by ancient stone idols and the whispers of the wind, one feels an uncanny sense of connection between earth and divinity. Unlike most temples, it lacks a roof—allowing sunlight and moonlight to sanctify the space naturally. The panoramic view of the Chambal valley from its hilltop location only adds to its mystical charm. Visiting the Chausath Yogini Temple is not just a spiritual journey—it’s a step back into India’s esoteric past, where art, architecture, and faith blended seamlessly. A must-visit for history enthusiasts, devotees, and seekers of the extraordinary.

The Ekattarso Mahadev Temple is also widely known as the Chausath Yogini Temple, located in Mitaoli, within the Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, India. It's on mountain and need climb by walk. Old Indian parliament was look a like of this temple. Here's a key information: * Historical Significance: * It's an 11th-century temple, constructed during the Kachchhapaghata dynasty's reign. * An inscription indicates that King Devapala built it in 1323 CE. * It is one of the well-preserved Yogini temples in India. * Architectural Features: * The temple is characterized by its circular design. * It comprises a circular wall containing 64 chambers, traditionally associated with the 64 Yoginis, and a central open mandapa dedicated to Shiva. * It is also said that there are shivlings present in each of the chambers, which is why it is also called Ekattarso Mahadev. In essence, the Ekattarso Mahadev Temple is a historically rich and architecturally unique site, holding both religious and cultural significance.

Arnd 37 km from gwalior, raods are through rural paddy fields in an isolated place. Bttr to travel with local taxi drivers. Safe to visit during the day only. Temple is at a height with 60 + steep steps to reach the top. No entry fee, parking available. Very limited crowd.

Ancient symbol of tantric traditions and spiritual power. Its circular, open-air architecture is both unique and captivating. Set atop a hill, it offers panoramic views and a serene atmosphere. A visit here connects history, faith, and nature beautifully.

I recently visited the Ekattarso Mahadev Mandir, also known as the Chausath Yogini Temple, in Mitaoli, Morena, and it was a truly remarkable experience! This 11th-century temple, perched atop a small hill, is an architectural gem that feels like a hidden treasure. The climb up the 100 steps is worth it for the stunning views of the surrounding plains and the unique circular design of the temple. The temple’s layout, with its 64 small chambers surrounding a central shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, is unlike anything I’ve seen before. Each chamber, originally meant for Yogini statues, now houses a Shiva linga, and the intricate carvings on the walls tell stories of ancient mythology. The open courtyard and hypaethral structure give it an airy, spiritual vibe, perfect for soaking in the history and tranquility. What stood out to me was how well-preserved the temple’is, despite being in a seismic zone. It’s a testament to the incredible engineering of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty. I also loved the peaceful village setting of Mitaoli—definitely a refreshing escape from crowded tourist spots. My only tip: bring water and snacks, as there aren’t many facilities nearby. Highly recommend visiting this lesser-known marvel if you’re near Gwalior or Morena!
Nilesh M — Google review
The Chausath Yogini Temple is exceptionally rare: not only for being one of only a handful of remaining Yogini temples in India, but also for its open-sky geometry, tantric legacy, and possible architectural resonance with modern civic design. It stands as a testament to powerful female worship and sophisticated medieval temple architecture.

From majestic lions to playful monkeys, every exhibit offered a unique insight into the world of wildlife. with informative signage educating visitors about the importance of protecting endangered species. We were particularly impressed by the efforts taken to provide a natural habitat for the animals. The enclosures are spacious and enriched with features that mimic their natural environment, allowing the animals to thrive. It was heartwarming to see them exhibit natural behaviors, from foraging to socializing, in a comfortable setting.

Very good sight for watching Ghariyal, Crocodile, few specific birds like Indian Skimmer, Surkhab (Ruddy Shelduck), Eurasian Spoonbill...

It is one of the hidden gems of India and does not attract many tourists, but the natural beauty of the place is worth a visit. You can do a lot of bird spotting, go on a river safari to spot ghariyals/ dolphins or taken a camel ride to the grand Ater fort nearby. Great option for a rustic experience. Only issue is cleanliness in public places.

Really a nice place, with lots to see in the chambal, though map shops mela kothi as the safari but it is just an expensive lodge. In reality it's 17 km ahead of it with last few kms in the beehad(ravines). To get best view of crocs and gharials you should come before noon.

Do NOT keep any over expectations when going for the Chambal Lake boat ride to watch the Ghariyal (Crocodiles). While on a 45 minute boat ride, we could only spot about 4 big crocodiles and lots of water birds. The boat ride is otherwise very peaceful and the surroundings are very serene. The cost of the 45 minutes boat ride is Rs. 700 per person and there are about 12 people cramped on a small boat. Not really worth the money you spend on the taxi to reach there and the actual boat ride.

A very beautiful temple situated right in the heart of the city. The area is large enough to have gardens, multiple temples and a lot of space to walk and sit and spend some time. There are two huge grounds as well, apt for any large gathering such as katha and Ramleela manchan. Regular upkeep is evident and a lot of effort has been put in to have everything that a temple should have. Must visit if you are in Bareilly.

PHOENIX UNITED MALL

You"ll find a good collection here.. overall a good experience.. the Timezone for kids are amezing..
D' L — Google review
This mall offers a great shopping and movie experience, with a wide selection of brand stores available. However, I'm giving it 3 stars due to some maintenance issues. 1. One escalator in every pair is often out of order. 2. The UPI payment option for parking never seems to work when I try to use it. Improved maintenance could help attract a better crowd.
Dev M — Google review
The mall is quite impressive; however, the only drawback is that most restaurants and stores close by 10:00 PM. Overall, I had a pleasant experience

Phoenix United Mall is one of the best shopping and entertainment destinations in Bareilly. The mall has a wide variety of national and international brand stores, making it a great place for shopping lovers. The food court offers multiple cuisines with popular outlets like KFC, Domino’s, Burger King, and local favorites as well. For entertainment, the PVR cinemas here give a very good movie experience with comfortable seating and sound quality. The mall is spacious, clean, and well-maintained with proper security. Parking facilities are available, though it can get a little crowded on weekends. Overall, it’s a perfect spot for family outings, shopping, movies, or just hanging out with friends. Definitely one of the highlights of Bareilly city.
PUNEET K — Google review
Phoenix Mall in Bareilly is a modern and vibrant shopping destination. It offers a wide range of stores, a diverse food court, and entertainment options like a multiplex cinema. The mall is clean, well-maintained, and has ample parking. Overall, it's a great place for shopping, dining, and leisure activities.
MOHAMMAD A — Google review
This mall is a great place to shop and spend time. It houses all the major brand stores under one roof, making it a one-stop destination for fashion, electronics, lifestyle, foood . The ambiance is quite welcoming. Whether you're shopping, eating, or just hanging out with friends, it offers a good experience. However, the only drawback is that the mall tends to leak during heavy rainfall, which can be inconvenient and unsafe in some areas. If that issue is fixed, it would definitely enhance the comfort and experience of visitors.

An average place for a day out with family. There are not many swings and activities to do, and the already existing ones do not work all(some are out of order). Cleanliness is good and well maintained. The food in the canteen is great, the tea is top notch. Overall it's a pretty decent place to take your family out.
Nihal K — Google review
I would like to start by saying the guy sitting at the ticket counter at the entry is extremely rude and no sense to talk with anyone. No sense to talk to women leave alone the men. Else it has been a good experience since it was a weekday so no rush at all so you can enjoy all the rides without any wait. There are many rides inside the water park although they need a lot of cleaning and hygiene. Another big scope of improvement is they do not accept upi inside the park for lockers or towels or for changing room only cash. The changing room needs a lot of cleaning and some water pressure for shower. Parking space was ample, there was lifeguards at most of the rides. The wave park was good but it was on for only once at around 3, if you are late then you'll miss that. No food points inside the water park but outside the park there was rides, park for kids and food points also. Overall a positive experience

This amusement park is a popular spot for weekend fun in Bareilly, as it's the only one in the city. While it can get a bit crowded on weekends, it offers a decent range of facilities. However, the water park section is disappointing, with dirty water and poor maintenance. Though people, including kids, do enjoy swimming, the pools often smell bad and seem to lack proper cleaning.

This water park has wrong informations written on their official website. They charge too much for this small water park.Thwy charge seperately for shoe stand, locker, seperate charge for costumes, mobile phones and everything else they charge seperately after giving ticket price. The water park is very small with limited rides.Dry park is too old and with most of the rides non functional.I had a bad experience here although I was with my friends so I enjoyed the time.

Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife park
Nature & Parks
Jungle cats, swamp deer & rare birds in a remote nature area with meadows & dense forest.
We saw a tiger here! Kishanpur wildlife sanctuary is a part of Dudhwa tiger reserve range. Area within the park is quite smaller than Dudhwa tiger reserve. We did not see the tiger initially but just about 40 to 45 minutes before taking an exit from the park we were lucky enough to see the tiger. We got a good vehicle to do the safari. However there is no canteen or shops nearby. You may carry a good camera mobile phone or a good camera with you. If you are lucky enough you will definitely be able to see a tiger because the area of the forest is quite less.
Pradip S — Google review
We visited the sanctuary twice in the last two years. We stayed at Mr Fazlur Rahman's resort located just outside the sanctuary. Fantastic host, fantastic food. There were a lot of migratory birds in the lake including Common Coot, Red Crested Pochard, Gadwall, Ferrigeneous Pochard, Eurasian Wigeon. We also saw an osprey and plenty of serpent eagles. On our first visit we saw a huge male tiger while on our second visit we saw a tigress with her three adolescent cubs.

A Thrilling Wildlife Experience at Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary is a hidden gem for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. The sanctuary boasts a rich biodiversity, with a notably high prey count, making it an ideal habitat for tigers. As a result, tiger sightings here are relatively frequent, making every safari an exciting experience. One of the biggest highlights of Kishanpur is the majestic Beldanda female and her four grown cubs, who have been captivating visitors with their presence. Observing these tigers in their natural habitat is a truly unforgettable experience. The lush landscapes, diverse wildlife, and well-maintained safari routes make Kishanpur a must-visit destination for anyone passionate about nature and conservation.

A good effort by government of India and also state government as they had maintained the wildlife sanctuary perfectly this wildlife sanctuary is a part of Dudhwa National Park and also very small as compared to Dudhwa that why we can see every animals easily most common of them are species of deer i saw every type of them and they were in large amount some about 80 to 90. And if you are lucky then there are 75% of chances of seeing the tiger as I too saw the tiger at last when wildlife sanctuary was going to close and if you are wanted to see the tiger and many more of animals the you must visit sanctuary in moth of April as weather at evening would be pleasant as animals would come out at evening to hunt of drink water. But you will not found rhinoceros and elephants there you would only found them in Dudhwa these are my review towards Kishanpur wildlife Sanctuary. Thank you

I would recommend visiting kishanpur wildlife sanctuary instead of dudhwa National park. I personally think kishanpur is underrated and the probability of sighting tigers is slightly higher than dudhwa. It is less expensive with a small crowd even if you don't get the chance to sight tigers but you will love the forest and silence.

Pilibhit Tiger Reserve

National forest
Nature & Parks
Forested nature reserve housing endangered tigers, plus leopards, deer & many other animals.
Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, nestled in the lush Terai region of Uttar Pradesh, is a lesser-known gem in India’s wildlife tourism map. On my recent visit, I embarked on two safaris, fueled by the hope of catching a glimpse of the majestic tiger. While the elusive striped cat remained hidden, the experience was anything but disappointing. The dense sal forests and expansive grasslands of Pilibhit instantly transport you into a serene wilderness. Each turn of the safari track whispered the promise of adventure. With a diverse ecosystem, the reserve is home to a myriad of wildlife species, from swamp deer to countless bird species. Our luck changed slightly during the second safari when we spotted a shy sloth bear meandering through the underbrush. Known for their solitary nature, sloth bears are a rare sight, making this encounter all the more special. The bear lingered for a while, offering a rare glimpse into its world, before disappearing into the thickets. While the tiger evaded us this time, Pilibhit offered an immersive experience of the untamed. The forest was alive with bird calls, the occasional movement of deer, and the whispering winds. It reminded me that safaris are as much about soaking in the wilderness as they are about spotting wildlife.

My experience at Pilibhit Tiger Reserve was absolutely fantastic! We were incredibly lucky to spot a tiger 🐅 within just half an hour of entering the reserve, making the safari truly unforgettable. The excitement of seeing the majestic tiger in its natural habitat was beyond words. One of the best things about this reserve is that it’s relatively less crowded, allowing for a peaceful and immersive wildlife experience without the usual tourist rush. The lush greenery, serene landscapes, and the raw beauty of nature made the entire journey even more special. If you’re a wildlife enthusiast or simply someone who loves quiet escapes into nature, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is a hidden gem that’s definitely worth exploring!

It is a very dense forest with limited wildlife. . . Although there are quite a few tigers there, the sighting seems difficult because of long grasses which provide a great place for the tigers to relax and stay hidden. . Overall the forest is quite beautiful. .

Serene and tranquil. If you want to see bulked up tigers this is the place to visit. Play a little "kacchi-pakki" and there is a very good chance of tiger sightings. You can get very good frames as the terai forest adds great contrast. Must visit for wildlife photographers.

It was a wonderful experience.. one must definitely go there ! You get a chance to experience wildlife in its true form. We spotted many many deer, birds, peacocks, and a tiger too..

Awesome experience, the place is still not fully commercialized so you can feel the innocence in people. There are a few homestays in the range of 3-4 kms so you can easily travel back and fro to the jungle. Rooms are usually in the range of 2k to 4k per night. I stayed in a new homestay just at the gate of Tiger reserve and the experience was good, the hospitality was welcoming and food was good. We went in the month of December first week and the temperature dipped to 5 degrees also inside the jungle it was much lower than that since sunrays hardly reach inside the jungle. Nearby market is puranpur which is hardly 5-6 kms. You get jeeps and guide for 4 people @3500 so it's around 900 rs per person. Overall awesome place to go during weekends we started our journey on Saturday 7 am and reached the homestay at 12.30 we had lunch and at 2pm we went for the safari.

Pilibhit tiger reserve is a hidden gem for tiger sightings in India at a reasaonable cost. The forest is in Tarai area so there are grasslands and canals. We had to do 3 safaris but were lucky in the 3rd. We had a face 2 face encounter with S3 who is 4 yr old and is likely to become one of the largest tiger in the world. Yes you read it right. The tigers om Pilibhit are Siberian and not Bengal so they are larger and stocky. The rush is less and chances to see the Tiger is high. The price of safari and accomodation is still reasonable and not expensive like Ranthambhore. So go ahead and enjoy tiger sightings.

Hello Guys! This is Dharmendra Sir from W Career Academy and I will share my experience about my recent visit to PTR. Let me explain from the beginning because I was very excited about that trip since I have never seen a Tiger walking freely. So I and my two friends made a plan to visit PTR on the next day of Holi However due to too much rush on that day we couldn't get the ticket but for the next day we made it possible. On 16th March we got tickets for PTR safari From 2 to 5 in the evening as we were very excited to see the Tigers and other animals. It was the first safari of my life and I have also heard about PTR that it has more than 70 Tigers so of course a good possibility to see a one so at sharp 2:00 PM we finally entered in prohibited area by our safari and we were only 5 people in a single safari, a driver, a guide and we so first they took us to Chuka beach where we didn't spend much time because we have already seen many beaches, our main motive was too see tigers. Hardly we spend 20 minutes on Chuka beach and after than we left for rest of our safari. My friend has good skills of taking pictures of wind animals so he had his DSLR with him so there he clicked some pictures of different birds on the way as we were moving forward we saw a crocodile 🐊 lying across the Sharda river but it was so far but still we felt good and clicked some pictures. On the way we saw peacocks dancing on the road, many old trees of Sal and many more varieties of trees and the forest was dense so we getting scared too and excited to see a tiger 🐅 That day we from zone 1 and I think they sighted 4 spots in the whole forest where possibilities were more so we stopped for a while on the spot 1 and there we waited for about twenty minutes and we were unlucky because we didn't see anything there so moved forward towards spot 2 and in the middle we saw grassland and few varieties of birds like hornbill and other. So we reached on the spot 2 and there we also waited for 15 to 20 minutes and still we saw nothing, not even other animals like bear 🐻, Deers, etc but we saw I think we see one or two species of Deers. Now we have left with only 60 minutes so moved towards spot 3 and there also we waited for 20 minutes and still nothing but we saw a crocodile 🐊 there . Having a hope of coming across a tiger we visited the last spot. I and my friends were talking like how jinxed we are that we say nothing and I was very sad , feeling blue, and of course devastated. I never thought my first safari will be that sad I think our first day was even more adventurous. In our batch no one saw anything due to the more rush on the previous day, they were telling us that yesterday it was too rush so that is why we saw nothing today. Lastly I want to say my trip was okay but not that good I think it would be great if we see something there. Anyway I had fun, enjoyed still and I think may be some other time when I visit again I hope we could see something. Well the tiger reserve is good and the rivers and canals are increasing its beauty. I would like to make a suggestion I think government should decrease number of safari in a single day because we are not the only one who who afraid of animals , I think they also afraid of us so how would it be possible to see a tiger if there will be a large number of safaris. I hope I have cleared my point. So if you guys also want to visit just go for it, it is a good place to visit and I am sure you will have a great time there. Cheers!

Chuka Beach

Beach
Nature & Parks
This remote, sandy beach is surrounded by trees & features a nearby eco-tourism center with huts.
Chuka Dam – A Hidden Gem of Nature and Wildlife Chuka Dam is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in our village. It is known as the biggest kachcha (mud) dam in Asia. Many people come here to enjoy nature, relax, and have fun with their family and friends. The dam looks like a beach, with calm water and soft sand. One of the best things about Chuka Dam is the sunset. In the evening, the sky turns orange and red, and the sun looks very beautiful as it goes down behind the water. It is a perfect place to take photos or just sit and enjoy the view. Next to the dam, there is a big forest area that is a tiger reserve. This means tigers and many other wild animals live there. You can go on a jungle safari to see animals like tigers, deer, monkeys, and many kinds of birds. It is a great experience for people who love animals and nature. The area around the dam is full of green trees and fresh air. It is a very good place for picnics, walking, and relaxing. People from nearby towns also visit here during holidays and weekends. Chuka Dam is not just a tourist place — it is a peaceful and beautiful spot where we can enjoy nature. If you ever want to spend time away from the noise of the city, this place is perfect for you.

Eco tourism huts are very nice well located across huge water reservoir but two issues which you have to keep in mind before booking it. First no private vehicle allowed therefore you to visit with safari vehicle only and once dropped there you cannot move. Second if booking in winter months be careful as no fire policy and after 5 pm you are just forced to remain inside room as outside very cold and with out fire you can not stay long
Rupesh S — Google review
Overpriced, overhyped, averagely maintained, good ambiance during safari, staff guides drivers of safari are cooperative and try their best to make your experience good.. nothing else there except safari.... Calling it a beach is totally unjustified....it's not even a clean water body...

An awesome weekend getaway. One should book the forest resort and stay overnight. Watching the sunset and sunrise should not be missed. Staying amidst dense forest gives a different level of experience. Food and facilities are nice. Early morning one can see crocodiles on the beach. Deers come and drink water. Book Forest safari in advance and if luck favours you, you can see tiger. We saw a tiger, bear, rare owl, rare barking deer , many peacocks and deers. Forest safari is amazing. A must go to place.

Aahhhaaaa....my first stay in a tree house. Thrilling and tiring experience (stair climbing). At present only tree house is available for booking. Rest of the rooms are under renovation. I have uploaded the pics of the rooms still under renovation. Following are the pros and cons of the tree house stay. Pros - Newly renovated. Mobile Network coverage avlb for airtel, jio and idea (declaring the ones that I have tested). The package includes breakfast for two and two bottles of water. Good homely food (non spicy veg food). AC and geyser available. Bamboo furnishing Mr Dharampal looks after the rooms. He is polite, courteous and helpful. Cons- The room and washroom is toooooo small. The stairs are steep and spacing between the steps is more so its very difficult for elderly ppl and kids to climb. Water drips down the stairs and it's a risk for ppl to fall down. Many rats are there in the tree house, they have cut our bag also. The bedsheets and towels were washed but with stains they need to be replaced. Too many cane chairs make the room non movable. Electricity is avlb thru generator after sunset till 2200h during winters. Only packaged water is avlb at the canteen. Any additional eateries needs to be prebooked even milk for kids. Room cleaning is limited due to many stairs.

Shuklaphanta National Park

Scenic national park comprised of forests, grassland & wetlands, with abundant plant & animal life.
Suklaphanta National Park offers an underrated, life-changing safari and sightseeing experience, unspoiled setting. A hidden gem for those seeking authentic nature encounters.

We visited Shuklaphanta National Park on April 22, 2025, and enjoyed an incredible four-hour jeep safari from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The experience was truly memorable and full of adventure, as we spent the entire time deep inside the jungle. The park was alive with wildlife, and we were fortunate to see many groups of peacocks, including a stunning display of a male peacock dancing right in front of us, creating a magical moment. Throughout the safari, we encountered a variety of deer species, including both spotted and spotless deer, as well as several beautiful barasinghas (swamp deer). We also spotted a couple of Nilgai, adding to the excitement. One of the highlights was coming across fresh tiger footprints on our trail, although we weren’t lucky enough to spot the tiger itself. Rhinoceroses and wild elephants are also commonly seen in the park, but this time, they remained elusive. Despite missing out on a few big sightings, the safari offered a wonderful opportunity to witness the rich biodiversity and natural beauty of Shuklaphanta. It was a thrilling and peaceful experience that left us eager to return and explore even more of this stunning national park.

Undoubtedly the best National Park of Nepal. Rich in natural resources and wildlife, there's plenty of things to do and see while you're here. Jeep Safari to the Grassland (the largest in Asia) is a must, and if you're lucky, you might spot some tigers too. Close to the national park is Mahakali bridge (1465M), the longest suspension bridge in Asia.

Advaita Ashrama, located in Mayavati, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Math established on March 19, 1899, under the guidance of Vivekananda by his disciples James Henry Sevier and Charlotte Sevier. The ashram is dedicated to the study and practice of Advaita Vedanta, rejecting the worship of images or idols, including those of Ramakrishna, in line with Vivekananda's ideals. Its primary goals are to study, practice, and promote Advaita philosophy without ritualistic practices, as well as to train others to disseminate this knowledge. Quickly becoming a hub for intellectual exchange between Eastern and Western thinkers, the Ashrama contributed to the widespread understanding of the core Advaita concept of the Atman, transcending physical and mental limitations. Additionally, it focused on creating an extensive body of literature in English, Sanskrit, and Hindi related to Vedanta and the teachings of Ramakrishna, the Holy Mother, and Vivekananda, thereby fostering a global spiritual and cultural renaissance. It is really nice place

This Aashram is situated 9 km from Lohaghat. Roads are narrow and with beautiful view. This place has morning and afternoon visit times and closed for a couple of hours for lunch. Beautiful view, Aashram hospital with free treatment, meditation room, Museum, lake, organic farming, Library. You can spend hours sitting and appreciating this place. No canteen, food stalls nearby. Booking for these ashram can be done via their website. Absolutely in love with this place.

Simply divine! This ashrama was the dream project of Swami Vivekananda. He himself stayed here. Over a century, it has remained the secluded spot for serious spiritual aspirants associated with Ramakrishna Movement. Stunning views of Himalayan peaks like Nandadevi, Nandakot, Trishul during the months of January - March delight the hearts of monks and devotees. The main building and Prabuddha Bharata buildings are of immense historical importance. No personality worship here, just the contemplation of Impersonal Absolute Self/Brahman. A must visit for all.

Very close to Champawat, about 21 km. Located in a perfect, well maintained, green place and developed vastly for the good of the people around. Advaita Ashrama, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Math, founded during 1899 at the behest of Vivekananda, by his disciples James and Charlotte Sevier. It is completely dedicated to the study and practice of Advaita Vedanta. No idol worshipping here, NONE what so ever. Initially when I had started visiting this place about 15 years ago, the flowers bloomed happily in front of the few meditative rooms. A nursery was there to provide to those, who were fascinated with the 'hard-to-find-elsewhere' plants which included to a few types of cactus, but no longer so. I had also managed to click a barricaded fantastic, out of the world , printing machine from olden days ( which has disappeared since).... and am trying to find the picture of it somewhere in my photo logs if possible. A hospital has now come up to look after the plight of quiet a few attendees and visitors, to care for there ailments. I have not only been fascinated with Shri Vivekanand's works and life but am equally fascinated to visit this place off and on, just to breath in the purity.
