Plitvice Lakes National Park

Mentioned on

National park
Nature & Parks
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a stunning destination in the heart of Croatia, known for its picturesque lakes, alpine forests, waterfalls, and caves. It's an ideal place for romantic getaways or family adventures. Couples can enjoy enchanting lookouts, romantic walks along the trails with the soothing sounds of waterfalls, and a stay at Jezero Hotel followed by a romantic dinner at Licka Kuca restaurant.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of pure, awe-inspiring beauty. The 16 lakes, connected by countless waterfalls and cascades in stunning turquoise-blue hues, are a true paradise. Walking on the wooden boardwalks allows you to get close to the water, feel the mist of the falls and see almost to the bottom of the lakes. It's an absolute must-do for any nature lover. Important points on the trails and walking conditions: The park offers a variety of routes (like C, H, F, E etc.) that combine walking, a boat ride on Lake Kozjak, and use of a shuttle. Most of the walking paths and boardwalks are very narrow, slippery, and sometimes uneven, and the park gets extremely crowded, therefore in my opinion the trails are not suitable for baby strollers or wheelchairs, also - access is difficult for people with walking difficulties or seniors who require stability. Recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip. Tickets: Recommended to book tickets online in advance for a specific time slot and entrance (1 or 2), as the daily visitor capacity is limited and tickets sell out quickly. It's best to arrive as early as possible (right at opening time) to avoid the biggest crowds. Paid parking is available at both entrances (make sure to park at the entrance for which you bought your ticket). Along the paths, there are several rest points with WCs and some places to buy food, but it's a bit pricey, so you can bring some water, sandwiches, or snacks. In summary, this is an amazing natural wonder that is worth every effort.
Eran I — Google review
Wow! Fantastic experience! You could easily spend the whole day at the park. There are number of trails leading around the lakes and under the waterfalls. Every part of it looks do beautiful. The water is extremely clean and the colours vary from light blue to turquoise green. It’s a must go destination in Croatia
Alice K — Google review
Absolutely stunning nature, I felt like I was wandering through the loveliest dream. Aside from the obvious, the forest itself is incredibly beautiful, soft, nurturing, with ivy covered trees, moss adorned rocks, and colorful leaves blanketing the forest floor. I highly recommend coming in mid to late October for the fall foliage, it imbues a mystical quality to this already enchanted place.
Chantal L — Google review
Very beautiful park and easy to access. We was lucky to get 2 versions of the scenery. We came late on day 1 (17 Nov), so we decided to revisit in the next day. There was significant snow and the scenery had changed. Although we couldn't go to your lakes due to the weather, the scenery in lower lakes was fantastic.
Gahwin R — Google review
Such a beautiful serene environment, walking on the trails did get a bit busy at times but once you're in its amazing to see little pockets of natural beauty, clear waters, different varieties of fish, plants and many jaw dropping waterfalls, too many to count. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Croatia.
A W — Google review
This park is really fantastic. We were here for two days. Walked about 30 km. Some areas quite busy (great waterfall). If possible i recommend an early start to avoid the tourists coming in by busloads. The lakes are great and everything is remarkably clean. We had a great time, highlight of our trip to Croatia.
M.pepers — Google review
It's no wonder the Plitvice Lakes are called Croatia's main attraction. It's a vast and incredibly beautiful national park. We visited in the summer, so everything was blooming and green. The park's highlight is the many waterfalls it has. Here, the waterfalls resemble delicate lace, an exquisite interplay of streams and intertwining water flows - there waterfalls upon waterfalls. If you're in Croatia, don't miss the opportunity to admire this spectacle! Some of the hiking trails will easily last a few hours, so prepare to spend a full day here.
Mat B — Google review
Great planning in the national park, with bus and boat inclusive with the ticket which is unbelievable at this kind of world-famous tourist spot. Experienced route H, spent around 5 hours and quite easy to walk, thanks for the bus taking us uphill and start at the top with over 80% of the journey are downhill. Fall season should be promoted more, the view is amazing, weather is comfortable but obviously there are not many visitors during Oct.

Beautiful beach, perfect for small kids. Blue waters and sand! Good food on the other side of the beach.
Vangie H — Google review
Beautiful beach with sand and shallow water. Very suitable for small children. There are also bars and restaurants nearby. It can be quite crowded during the summer. The water is very clean and a very beautiful color.
Diana M — Google review
Another grrat place in Murter. Sandy beach ideally for a small babies, very low water level. Early morning get a place otherwise its crowded whole day... closely tobogans for a kids. Surrounded by great restaurants, look for Reflektor Murter on right side ☝️
David S — Google review
Small beach with pebbles, the place was beyond full. We had a great time staying on the side of the beach, there are flat rocks that allow for sun bathing. Water is clean right off the rocks and many fish can be seen.
Hristo A — Google review
Amazing Beach. Only horrible thing is the parking. There are weird people running around selling overpriced parking tickets, for the parking at the beach. But if you park near the Konzum supermarket 10 minutes by foot away in the town, you only pay 1€ per hour. You have to pay with the BMove app though. But the installation of the app and purchasing of the ticket was super easy. Really recommend that option!
XLQ3 X — Google review
The shore is stones, but in the water is sand. The shore is shallow, perfect for children's games. We didn't visit cafes. There were a lot of people, but we found a place to sit. Nice place.
Lina G — Google review
10€ for parking on a rocky spot, the beach is very small with masses of people..towel besides towel. Water is nice like almost everywhere in Croatia.
Tas — Google review
Nice beach. Not overcrowded (at least was not 3-13 July 19). Water not the nicest, since it's more or less a small bay. Depends where exactly you stay on the beach. Decent service in terms of food, drinks, sport activities. Below average prices in Croatia in general. No "adrenaline" activities really available.

The park's karstic phenomenon showcases a canyon up to 200 meters deep carved through limestone hills by the river over millennia. What a place. Really beautiful. Terrain maybe a little bit challenging for some people. The falls the lake the small fishes birds the wildlife is just amazing! Not to be missed when in Croatia. The wooden walkway at the end was the most amazing part. The view was spectacular.

This is a natural miracle! Everything is well organized-after you buy the ticket, a boat takes you to the park in about 20 minutes. The whole journey is fantastic. Then waterfalls and paths within the park are very natural and amazingly.
Kujtim H — Google review
An amazing series of waterfalls in a beautiful valley. I had not heard of Krka national park before visiting Croatia as it is not as well known as the Plitvice park but it is just as beautiful. We visited on a day trip from Split in late October. It is about 1 hour 20mins from Split. There are many different areas of the park and we visited Lozovac. Here there is a large free car park with free toilets near to the ticket office. The start of the waterfalls walk is in a valley about 1km from the ticket office. There is a regular shuttle bus every 15 mins or you can walk down a gravel path. We chose to walk down. The path is quite steep in places so you might want to use the shuttle bus to return as it is uphill on the way back. There are more toilets and a cafe near to the start of the boardwalk which is about 3.5km long and is suitable for buggies. There are lots of little streams and small falls but the main falls is near the end just after another cafe and some gift stalls. The whole valley is so beautiful, especially in the autumn and we got lucky on a cloudless sunny day.
Waldo B — Google review
Best to visit in sunny weather, beautiful waterfalls and lots of benches and restaurants within the park from skradin side. Very bad direction labelling, the trail is not clearly marked so we ended going around a circle instead of forward to the monastery :( Ask for directions along every way!
Liliana B — Google review
Fantastic natural parc! We took the boat from Skrandic and walked the whole round hike to the top and back again. Lot of wildlife and panoramic spots! Don't take a stroller with you, there are a lot of stairs and if you skip them, you'll miss many viewpoints.
Timur C — Google review
Beautiful scenery. Easy walking. Well signposted. Only downside was the price of food and drink inside the park, absolutely disgraceful. €7 for a pouch with less fries than a McDonald's and €19.50 for a pathetic burger. I get not wanting people to bring food and drink in due to rubbish and cross contamination of food/nature but sort your prices out.
Nicola L — Google review
We got the boat to the waterfall the views and surroundings on the way were amazing. The food by the waterfall was lovely and then the photo opportunitys were fabulous some of which I posted. Would recommended a visit here.
Marie S — Google review
Fabulous experience of nature. Waterfalls were great. We took the boat from the nearby town and that was great. My mom who had difficulties walking could tag along with her walker. The stroll around the waterfalls were tough but worth it. It took about 30 minutes. Lots of steps here so no walker around the falls but no problem to and from the falls.

A great restaurant right in the marina in Biograd. Very spacious, with a terrace and a view of yachts and sailboats. The restaurant is impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. Drink prices are average while food prices may be slightly higher than average. The menu is very interesting and will give you the opportunity to try something new. The staff is very kind and helpful in choosing food. The menu includes fish, crustacean and meat dishes. There is a children's menu. There are also desserts for those with a sweet tooth. Paid parking is available right next to the restaurant while free street parking is available nearby.

The whole experience in Restaura t Marina is awesome: its locatin in the marina Kornati, very attentive personnel, nice ambience (they have open fireplace inside), and the food is unbelievable good. We ate fish specialties, everything was prepared excellent.
Sanja C — Google review
The restaurant is located in a beautiful marina. The surroundings are really neat and clean while the restaurant is decorated beautifully. The food was exquisite! I would recommend you to try the "Octopus salad" dish which was delicious and one of my favorites! The service was great and I will be returning here again!

Location is inside the marina. Very nice veranda if you want to sit outside. Also area inside with air conditioning. Fresh and well done food. If you want to try traditional Croatian food like "Peka" order one day before, just call or ask your hotel to call for you. Service minded and friendly staff. Kids are welcome. Some vegetarian alternatives as well as gluten free alternatives. Price is fair to portion. Amazing sunset. Really worth a visit.
Dani — Google review
The food was okay, it was a little on the bland side but it wasn't bad. The service was good. The view was really nice too
Ivanna I — Google review
Awful planning of waiters shifts. On Saturday there is always rush but it’s unforgivable and no excuse to wait to order cup of coffee for 40+ min. When asked waiter directly the answer was “wait for someone to come to you”
Anna S — Google review
Nice restaurant with very slow service, you can be half hour with empty glasses in almost empty restaurant and nobody will recognize it, until you will start to wave like windmill... For lunch we went rather outside of marine.

Ancient Ruins
Mythical place filled with old and unfortunately recent historical events that shaped Croatian history. Very well maintained and packed with lots of educational boards and interactive activities. Best to come before sunset (around 19:00 later in the year). Ticker price was 6,00 € per person. There is small parking underneath the fortress but I would suggest leaving your car on the main street and use walking paths.
Zoran S — Google review
Visiting the Knin Fortress was one of my best experiences among Croatian monuments, museums, and cultural landmarks. The interactive museum is top-notch, the free viewing telescope is a fantastic addition, and the museums dedicated to Operation Storm and other themes are beautifully and thoughtfully arranged. Truly outstanding — one of the best sites in Croatia!
Tina F — Google review
It's a really interesting place. Most of the exhibitions have plaques that are in English which are really useful. The girl with dark hair who was working the ticket booth was really friendly and helped us out a lot. The views are absolutely stunning. I would visit the kids bit as there's an animation that really being set in layman term's. How the area developed through the centuries In layman terms. Great coffee shop and restaurant there as well.

An amazing castle fort with huge history explained very well in the museums, the well signed routes ensure you don't miss anything. Above all literally the views are stunning 😍 And ypu can see the start of the Krka River that makes the beautiful gorge and waterfalls ...🥰

very interesting medieval fortress, a large number of different levels and places to observe the surroundings, a beautiful view of the source of the Krka River and its flow below the fortress, it could be arranged a little nicer with some details from the past, the price is very acceptable and corresponds to what is offered

Real history with amazing views. Restaurant is great for food with a view 👍

Very large and pretty fortress on top of the mountain, only 5 minutes from town.

It's a 'must visit ', it seems to cover the entire top of the hill with impenetrable walls full of archery slots and canon stations. You get the feeling that the people could survive any siege. I wish we'd brought a picnic but my partner and I had dinner in the castle restaurant: it was the best meal we had in a week of eating out every day.

Land Gate

Mentioned on
+42 other lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The Land Gate in Zadar is a significant historical landmark that serves as the main entrance to the old town area, enclosed by medieval walls. Constructed in the 16th century by the Venetians, it features a grand triumphal arch adorned with intricate stone carvings depicting images of Zadar's patron saint and the winged lion of St. Mark.
The Land Gate (Kopnena Vrata) is one of Zadar’s most iconic historical landmarks, located in the city’s Old Town. Built in 1543 by the Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli, it served as the main entrance to the fortified city during the Venetian Republic. It is a stunning example of Renaissance architecture and holds immense historical and cultural significance. Key Features: 1. Design: • The gate is adorned with elaborate carvings, including a central triumphal arch flanked by two smaller arches. • At the top, it features the Lion of Saint Mark, a symbol of Venice, signifying Zadar’s importance as part of the Venetian Republic during that time. • It also includes decorative elements such as coats of arms and inscriptions. 2. Function: • The Land Gate was strategically positioned as part of the city’s defensive walls, which protected Zadar from Ottoman attacks. • It connected the city to the mainland via a drawbridge over the Fosa, a narrow moat that still exists today. 3. Cultural Significance: • Today, the Land Gate is a preserved part of Zadar’s UNESCO-listed Venetian fortifications. • It stands as a symbol of Zadar’s rich history and its strategic importance in the Adriatic during the Renaissance period. Modern Use: The Land Gate is now a pedestrian passage and a favorite spot for visitors exploring the Old Town. Its location near the Fosa Harbor makes it a picturesque entrance to Zadar’s historic center.

Beautiful line gate that leads due to the Center of all time Zadar into surely majestic and very preserved. On the left side are Zadar Walls
Marino P — Google review
Beautiful historic monument, as is the Queen Jelena Madijevka Park, a Historic park atop the city bastions. There were 2 guided tours at the sane time, one in Mandarin Chinese, one in English at 5he time I visited. I would definitely recommend to go see the Land Gate at Fuša Harbor.
Katharina S — Google review
The 1543 entrance gate in Zadar impresses with its history and architecture. The Venetian walls are adorned with reliefs of a lion and St. Chrysogonus. Definitely worth seeing! Nearby, there's a shady park and a picturesque bay offering cruises for diving or sunset views. The gate was a crucial part of the city's defense during the Venetian Republic era and symbolizes its rich cultural heritage. Highly recommended!
Fiodor K — Google review
Most impressive of the gates is the Land Gate, main entrance into Zadar. It is built by Michele Sanmicheli in 1543 and it has a form of a triumphal arch with a central passage and two smaller two arches for wheeled traffic and pedestrians.
Mat B — Google review
This is one of the beautiful old gates in the wall of the city. We understand that when the city was an island much of the area beyond this massive gate was a huge water filled mote. Eventually the mote was filled in forming a peninsula. Today the arch remains where the gates were and is a lovely historical landmark.
Louis E — Google review
From all city gates this might be the most remarkable and the most beautiful. Not only due to its Venetian Lion. Just maybe because of its sheere size. It is the entry and exit point to the South. And considering the historic centre is almost detached to three sides by waters, the Southern gate is the most important. Don’t miss!
Philipp S — Google review
This is a review of Zadar in general, not specifically the gate. It is not a great city to visit. Many of the building are modern concrete construction and it probably has the highest proportion of tourist trap restaurants. Lots of loud tourists and not a peaceful atmosphere. If you want to visit, don't bother staying more than one night.

Paseo Maritimo, also known as the coastal promenade, is a must-visit when in Zadar. This beautiful waterfront stroll offers stunning views and a perfect conclusion to exploring the city. You can find a small market selling souvenirs and local products, as well as entertainment at the end of the day. The area is especially enchanting during sunset, offering an unforgettable spectacle. While it may be crowded with tourists at times, it's still great for walking and taking photographs.
Paseo Maritimo is actually the coastal promenade. Great for a morning run when there aren't many people.

(Translated by Google) We got to see the Zadar sunset, as it could not be otherwise, and then we took a night walk through the city, so we saw the promenade by car and on foot. There are numerous boats docked and if you go to the sea organ and sun salutation area, the walk is better, because there are people having a drink, listening to music, talking, walking, doing sports... There is a good atmosphere. What is difficult is finding trash cans: they only have them in an area with a stone floor, but not near the organ... In addition, there are stairs for people who want to go down to bathe.

Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Saint Donatus’ Church is a large Catholic church with a circular shape that was constructed in the 9th century. It is located near the Roman Forum and St. Anastasia's Cathedral in Zadar, Croatia. The church has a pre-Romanesque style and is considered one of the most important landmarks in Dalmatia from that time period. Named after Bishop Donat, it features clean lines, a circular ground plan, and fortress-like architecture.
Visiting the Church of St. Donatus and climbing the adjacent Bell Tower is well worth the effort - the entrance is 5€. The church’s unusual circular arhitecture with it's mixture of Romanesque and Byzantine influences dates back to the 9th century and it's definitely a bit of a gem. Climbing the Bell Tower is rewarded with an excellent panorama of Zadar’s old town, the shimmering Adriatic Sea, and nearby islands.

An impressive ancient church located next to the Forum and the Cathedral. We were visiting early and had the place to ourselves. It was probably built in the 9th century and its design reflects architectural traditions of that time. It has a very authentic and somewhat eery vibe. I wish there were more explanations or some sort of a tour, but anyway, it was an interesting stop in Zadar. The entrance was 4 ears (cash only).
Ed G — Google review
Ancient church, surrounded by roman heritage of an old town square and amphitheater. The church is small but still neat to see and sit and imagine how assemblies were held inside. Beautiful steps, and clean. 5€ per son's over 10yrs old to enter. About a 30 min adventure at most. But you can't put a price on history
T E — Google review
Very historical buildings with a long glory history. Iis no longer an operational church but just being conserved for it's history and as a tourist attraction. Can see it's structure was constructed many years ago using old masonry techniques. It's still very solid and strong. Worth a visit to get an understanding or Zadar and also St Donatus' Church significance in this city & town.
Sam S — Google review
A beautiful ancient church located in the heart of Zadar's old town and near the sea front. Taking a walk around old town reveals its historic charm, with each alleyway having its own story to tell! A walk around the oldtown and the sea front is definitely a must in Zadar!
Vikas S — Google review
I happen to be in Zadar when it just finished raining… do not make the same mistake. The crowds of people that filled the streets was insane. Many shopkeepers recommended to come when it rains as there are less people. But oh my days. However, the church is still very beautiful its just impossible to fully enjoy under such pretences
Mia S — Google review
A magical place in the heart of Zadar, especially at night when the Romanesque bell tower and the Church of St. Donatus are beautifully illuminated. The square is full of life, with street performers, tourists, and cozy cafés around. The contrast between the ancient stone structures and the lively modern atmosphere creates a unique and memorable vibe. A must-visit spot for history lovers and anyone looking to feel the soul of the old town. Absolutely stunning!

Getting to the top is not so expensive, and in return you get a nice 360° view of the Zadar old town.

The Greeting to the Sun

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Greeting to the Sun is a modern artistic installation located in Zadar, consisting of 300 multi-layered glass plates arranged in a circle on the waterfront. Beneath these glass plates are solar modules that create a symbolic connection with nature through light. At sunset, the lighting elements within the circle illuminate and produce a mesmerizing light show synchronized with the waves and sounds of the nearby Sea Organs.
This piece surprised me not just visually but conceptually. It’s more than just lights—it’s a clever tribute to nature, astronomy, and renewable energy. The solar panels absorb sunlight all day and then use that stored energy to create a multi-colored light show after dark. It’s especially meaningful if you're into science, sustainability, or just interactive public art. Families, couples, solo travelers—everyone seemed to be drawn in. I loved the blend of technology, nature, and creativity. Great spot to relax, reflect, or just be present.
Madhushree M — Google review
Very interesting bit of technology with solar power allowing a light show on hundreds of panels. Given that it's right next to the equally fascinating sea organ you're bound to visit it when in Zadar. Great area for the sunset. Some reviewers complain about the number of people - but for my group, all the happy, smiling admirers was a plus not a minus. Definitely worth a visit.
Mat B — Google review
Greeting to the Sun in Zadar offers an absolutely mesmerizing experience that perfectly encapsulates the beauty of the Adriatic. As the day draws to a close, the sunset here is nothing short of spectacular, painting the sky with vibrant hues that reflect off the calm waters. You'll find yourself captivated by the silhouette of boats gently bobbing on the sea, adding to the picturesque scene. The magic truly comes alive as dusk settles in, and the Sea Organ begins its melodic performance, creating an ethereal soundtrack that perfectly complements the visual spectacle. And then there are the lights of the Greeting to the Sun itself – their simplicity is their genius, creating an interactive and enchanting display of the ground that is both playful and profound. It's a place where natural beauty, human ingenuity, and a sense of wonder seamlessly blend together. A must-visit for anyone in Zadar!
Matt W — Google review
Visiting the Greeting to the Sun was one of the highlights of my trip to Zadar. This stunning installation, located right by the sea next to the famous Sea Organ, is an incredible blend of art, science, and nature. During the day, the large circular platform quietly absorbs sunlight, but as soon as the sun sets, it lights up with vibrant, colorful patterns powered by solar energy. It feels like the ground itself is alive with energy! What I loved most was how the installation connects you to the cosmos — with a solar calendar engraved on the ring and smaller discs representing the planets nearby. It’s not just beautiful but also educational. The nearby Sea Organ adds a magical soundtrack as the waves create peaceful, melodic sounds, making the whole experience truly multi-sensory. The location is perfect for an evening stroll along the waterfront, watching the sunset while enjoying this unique light show. Best of all, it’s completely free and open at all times. I highly recommend visiting just before dusk to catch the full effect. A perfect spot for photos, relaxation, and soaking in Zadar’s creative spirit!
Niroshan P — Google review
On the western extremity of Zadar’s old town, this modern installation is a remarkable addition to Zadar alongside its neighbour the Sea Organ. Both are designed by Nikola Bašić. It consists of 300 multi-layered glass solar panels in the shape of a circle of a 22-meter diameter. It collects the energy of the Sun and transforms it into the electricity, which is then used by and around the installation throughout the night. Wait for dusk to be over to fully appreciate the marvel.
Anil J — Google review
Monument dedicated to sun. It is work of Nikola Bašić, architect who made sea organ next to this monument. These two monuments symbolize comunication with nature. This one comunicates with light and organ comunicate with sound. In the evening the lights turn on and you can enjoy in lightshow.

Best rendezvous place for families and friends. This solar-powered attraction lights up at night with colorful LED displays. Beautiful and unique park.

Situated near the Sea Orgulje lies a large blue solar circle that starts to light up in colour when the sun sets. That's why it's called the greeting to the sun and a goodbye!

Went on a 14km~ rafting tour down a river that is used for white water rafting some months of the year. It was very calm when we were there in mid August. Riva rafting gave us a map and a place to meet them at their centre next to the start point, then gave us all the gear we needed (helmets, life jackets, waterproof pots) and then we got into inflatable rafts in pairs. There were two skippers - one at the front and one at the back to make sure everyone was accounted for. They led us through everything in English and we had a great time, despite a thunderstorm at the very end! At the end point they took drivers off to get the cars and the rest of us waited at the bar. As we paid for the tour + lunch, we also went to their campsite restaurant and were given a mixed grill. Altogether it was great value and we had a fantastic time!

Our rafting trip with this company in Croatia was absolutely stunning, striking the perfect balance between safety, fun, nature, and thrill. From start to finish, our guides, Maila and Ramesh, were professional and attentive, creating a sense of constant safety. This is so important, as it allowed our group, which included families and people with varying levels of preparation, to fully relax and enjoy the experience. Their teamwork was incredible, and their awareness made us feel completely secure, even for the families with younger children on the trip. What sets this team apart is their ability to deliver constant excitement and thrilling moments without compromising safety. They kept the energy high with plenty of laughs and memorable moments. It’s rare to find a team that can give you such a rush while also ensuring you feel completely looked after.

Paklenica National Park is a stunning 95 sq km protected mountain forest located in the Velebit Range, which separates continental Croatia from the Adriatic coast. The park boasts two peaks higher than 1,700m and features two deep gorges, Velika Paklenica and Mala Paklenica, with cliffs over 400m high. Its unique geographical position results in diverse vegetation and climate zones ranging from warm Mediterranean to cold mountain climate.
One of these places where you don't need to walk much to see something amazing;) Just outside the parking lot, you can observe climbers or simply rest in the shade of the mountains and trees. Definitely go on a trek too or take a climbing lesson with a local guide!
Joanna ( — Google review
If you're going to go up the mountain, take sturdy shoes. We went up Vidakov Kuk. 745m high. About 6.4km to get there. The trail is fine up to the point of the Manitec cave. After that, you follow the red and white circles and lines to the top. It's not easy, there are no safety barriers, and sometimes it's pretty much straight up, holding onto rocks, steel wire and trees. Take your time and look for the next red and marker to set your course. When you get to the top, you are rewarded with a magnificent view. To get down there are 2 ways, back the way you came, or keep going, following the red and white markers. I would recommend going back the way you came. Even though the first part of that will be difficult, one you hit the trail it's easy sailing. Continuing on is a task and a half. The trail is VERY difficult. Steep slopes, on rocks most of the way, and you only have the markers as a guide as there is no real trail marked. It's tough on knees and ankles. Sometimes it feels like it will never end, you double back on yourself and feel lost. Plus it takes a lot longer this way. And when you get to the end, you will probably question your intelligence as why you did it 😄. But, if adventure is what you are wanting, do it.

This NP exceeded my expectations. Was a really lovely walk up to the cave and we had a great tour of the cave too. Toilets were clean and stocked. Great day out.
Amanda B — Google review
So the park and scenery is great. But the trails although clearly marked they are extremely confusing for people who want to hike more difficult trails. The map provided doesn’t align with the signs on the trails. So you don’t really know what you will see when you reach the trail end. They could mark up loop trails and colour code them by time and difficulty level. But if you have a one day there and want to do quick hike it will be nearly impossible to understand which trail to choose to see something as everything provided by the park is unusable. Restaurants in the park is cash only so don’t forget the money if you want to eat something.

Where the mountain meets the sea. Beautiful place, nice trails, awesome views.
Juraj B — Google review
The park is absolutely stunning and worth visiting, but hikers (especially visitors unfamiliar with the terrain) should be careful — it’s very easy to lose the trail, even just a few meters off. The rocky karst slopes can make every direction look the same, and some paths aren’t clearly marked. A small wrong turn can quickly lead into thick, thorny bushes and rough ground. I recommend adding more visible trail markings and some English-language signs or disclaimers, especially near confusing sections, so visitors can stay safe and enjoy the hike with confidence. Huge thanks to the park staff — they were incredibly kind, calm, and helpful when I got disoriented and needed assistance. Their professionalism and kindness really stood out.

This enchanting destination is more than just a museum; it's an experience that radiates peace, profound symbolism, and boundless inspiration. Arrive on the hour and witness the electrifying Tesla coil demonstration, followed by a compelling short documentary that brings Tesla's brilliance to life. The museum complex offers: - A playground where young minds can dream big - A souvenir shop packed with keepsakes charged with inspiration - A historic Orthodox church where Tesla’s father once preached, adding spiritual depth to your visit Whether you're a science enthusiast, a curious traveler, or a seeker of inspiration, allow yourself a longer stay to truly absorb the energy that permeates this remarkable place. Plitvice Lakes National Park

This beautiful hotel was very comfortable and easy to find. Check in was a breeze and the room was amazing. We had a wonderful balcony to sit on. The property also has a lot of outside sitting and a few swings. There is free parking on the property and they allowed us to leave our car there while we hiked in the park. The 3rd entrance to the park is a 5 Min walk away and very convenient. We were able to go the opposite way of most people visiting and had zero wait for the boat at the end of the day since everyone is heading the other way.

Location, location! This is an amazing place to stay with so many perks. The entrance to Plitvice Park is just a short walk away, and there are a couple of really nice restaurants within walking distance. Our host, Mirjana, was wonderful. Even though we arrived late, she was there to greet us and help us get settled. She asked what time we’d like breakfast, and had everything prepared and ready earlier than scheduled. The breakfast spread was incredible—so many options, including cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, jams, breads, and coffee. On top of that, she made us delicious eggs every morning. The room was spotless, and we had a beautiful balcony overlooking the backyard. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the fresh air, complete with Adirondack chairs, a swing, and tables. Parking was free and right at B&B. We couldn’t have asked for more. We would absolutely stay here again, and I can’t wait to recommend it to my friends and family.

Everything was absolutely excellent. The room was super big and had everything you need. Cleaning 10+++. A lot of attention to details, you could tell the accommodation was carefully and tastefully designed. The host was incredibly nice and she makes the best pancakes and scrambled eggs. So you can probably tell we also loved the breakfast. :) For the Park, you can buy online any Entrance ticket and the hour doesn't matter that much. There is an unofficial entrance very close by, where the Park staff will scan your tickets. We visited in September, but I recommend you to eat your morning breakfast, then grab some snacks for the rest of the day. There are very limited options on the resting areas on the routes. For dinner, we highly recommend to avoid the restaurants nearby the accommodation, take the car and drive for 15 minutes to Restaurant Degenija - better prices and much better quality food. I really hope all accommodations were like this. 💚

Modern, new and clean rooms. Amazing outdoor area. Very helpful and friendly staff who can help you with buying tickets and give you tips on what to see or where to eat in the area. If you are looking for a quiet place in Plitvice, this is the best place. The accommodation is approx. 400-500 meters from the unofficial entrance to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. However, you can only use this entrance with a valid ticket, which you must purchase in advance (24 hours) on the Plitvice Lakes website. We spent in this place 3 wonderful nights and had enough time to explore Plitvice lakes and taste local food

Great Waterfall

Waterfalls
Great Waterfall, also known as Veliki Slap, is a stunning natural wonder located within a national park in Croatia. Standing at an impressive 78 meters tall, it is the highest waterfall in the country and offers breathtaking views. The surrounding area features picturesque picnicking spots and a viewing platform to take in the beauty of the cascading water. Visitors can also explore the Sastavci waterfalls, which create a dramatic scene as they appear to be an extension of Great Waterfall.
This is the tallest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes National Park, measuring approximately 78 meters in height. It is a single-drop waterfall, cascading straight down from a high cliff in a dramatic and powerful flow. The sight of the water plunging in a single stream is truly awe-inspiring. In spring and after rainfall, the volume of water increases, creating an even more impressive spectacle. During winter, the frozen form offers a completely different yet equally stunning view. Visiting early in the morning rewards you with a magical atmosphere, as mist and sunlight create a dreamlike setting. It is the closest major attraction to Ticket Office 1, and certain trail routes allow you to reach a viewpoint right at the base of the waterfall.

Beautiful nature. We did circuit C and it took us 4 hours, moderately difficult terrain. The boat trip was also great. There are toilets and refreshment stands at the stations. Nice people everywhere.

The "Great Waterfall" in Croatia is called Veliki Slap and is the largest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes National Park. It has a height of 78 meters and is fed by the Plitvica River. What a magnificent view!
Mat B — Google review
The big waterfall looks perfect. If you are lucky, your impression will be completed by the small drops carried by the gentle wind from the waterfall that fall on the tourists. The impression would be better if there weren't so many tourists in this place, but I can understand why people stay here.
King S — Google review
Dreamy, full-on nature immersive! Only downside: wooden path is very narrow plus at water level, so u can't enjoy the waterfall in absolute peace - making space for people passing all the time & the anxiety of your belongings (phone etc) falling in the lakes.
Romy X — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous and an amazing experience to be here. This is the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park – 78 meters high situated at the very end of the Lower Lakes. It is fed by the waters of the Plitvica Potok River. Considered as the most beautiful one on the Lakes, this waterfall is also the highest one in the whole of Croatia. A must visit site, when in Croatia.

Absolutely stunning landscapes, serene trails, and pure wilderness — a perfect escape from the noise of everyday life. Also perfect place for family without doctors and engineers from middle east and Africa.

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of Zagreb is a grand Roman Catholic edifice that underwent restoration in the 1990s. It hosts concerts like The Organs of the Zagreb Cathedral and Evenings on Gric cycle. The cathedral is a significant part of Zagreb's iconic buildings, along with other landmarks such as Croatian National Theatre and St. Mark's Church.
It is a great piece of architecture just 100 meters from main square. Inside it is very beautiful. It has a small connection with Las Vegas. A Croatian owner of a casino in Las Vegas had gifted them 3 chandeliers which are prominently displayed though they look little out of place. The atmosphere inside was very calm and soothing. It is better to see with a guide who can explain the great historical background. Worth seeing !!
Balkrishna S — Google review
The cathedral has been under renovation for a few years now, but it still is a pleasant sight to see. Under renovation means no access to the inside as well; was gated off for the majority of the time. It is the second tallest building in Croatia and the most monumental sacral building of Gothic architecture southeast of the Alps.
Mat B — Google review
Looks interesting from the outside, but it's temporarily closed (due to further renovations?). There are some old Medieval-looking city walls and fortifiations right next to the cathedral, but those are also inaccessible (at least from the sides nearest the cathedral) due to the work being done.
Karyn — Google review
It's unfortunate that this cathedral is being renovated and temporarily closed barricaded with scaffolding. This renovation seems forever. At the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, gold sculpture is there to behold.
Jun H — Google review
It was closed for renovation during my visit, but the massive artistic structure looked very impressive from the outside.
Deepak P — Google review
What I could see of it was nice but both towers were covered in construction unfortunately. Had hoped it would be less since in most photos only part of one tower was covered but oh well
Cornelia D — Google review
It’s amazing architecture, especially during Christmas they have market at night . Various kinds of food stall , my favourite no-alcoholic tea and sweets are served. Even at-10*c, this place is buzzing and lots of things to do. Cathedral itself a nice place to visit but it has been years that they started renovating. However, it hasn’t finished. Hopefully they will finish soon.
Lincoln I — Google review
The cathedral is located in the center of Zagreb. From the very beginning, its size catches the eye. Additionally, it has interesting decorations. It makes a huge impression in real life. Unfortunately, I could not see it in its entirety, because it was under renovation. Nevertheless, I recommend seeing it!

The Museum of Broken Relationships, located in a baroque palace, showcases personal items from past relationships along with brief synopses. It is a popular tourist attraction and features donated items with humorous descriptions available in multiple languages through QR codes and printed books. Visitors can also contribute their own relationship mementos to enrich the museum's collection. The museum has been recognized for its innovation by receiving the Kenneth Hudson Prize from the European Museum Forum.
An amazing museum. The stories really cut through. Some of them were funny but a lot of them were emotional and really touching. It certainly brings back memories and/or a way to feel things buried deep. Such a beautiful idea and the contributions were just superb. The staff were just lovely too! Well done all!!
Nick O — Google review
A must-go museum that displays an array of relics of lost and broken love. Reading various related stories was so interesting, and I had a very impressive time there. The clerks inside were so kind, and they had a decent souvenir shop and an inside café to chill myself after passing through a lot of heartbreaking stories. If I could, I would rate this place 6 out of 5 stars.
Garam L — Google review
A must see! A unique museum collection containing various items “of one’s affection” that at some point required dismissal for resolution. Donor’s also offer a vignette of the relationship behind the objects. Decide for yourself, if and where you fit into these stories , and have a cathartic experience for a few hours. There are 5-6 small rooms , lots of interesting readings that require 1-2 hours of your time. Clever idea to put together this collection. One that will keep growing as long as humanity is involved!
Linda P — Google review
Wonderful little museum filled with mementos and poignant stories about the people, things, events and places that we fall in love with and have to let go. If you enjoy stories about being human and want to experience a different kind of museum filled with humanity then you must go. I thoroughly enjoyed! Spent about 1-1.5 hours there. Nice, comfortable cafe attached. This is in historic old town or upper town
Maureen P — Google review
Based off the name of this museum, you’d expect it to be rather depressing… and it kinda is, but in a touching way. Genuine stories, genuine heartbreak, real people. It’s a Museum of Broken Relationships, as the name implies… but, of all kinds of broken relationships, some of which will give you a laugh. Some of which… don’t. I bought my tickets in advance, but when I got there it was rather empty (I went October 1), so it was very easy. I have heard it can get quite busy though, which is why I got tickets in advance. Don’t skip this.
Taylor B — Google review
I really liked it and I think it is a must see if you are in Zagreb! You have to do a lot of reading but it is worth it. The stories are as different as the objects and whats very cool - they are from around the world. Some you may like, some may bore you, some may leave something to think about. This is a bit different kind of museum as we are used to but thats another beauty of it🥰
Signe H — Google review
We came here as we'd heard of it as a must see and unique tourist attraction, as well as the fact that it was open quite late in the night when we had some free time. The entry fee was €7 per adult and overall, I was very disappointed. The museum is only made up of about 5 or so rooms with mementos from past relationships, each with a note detailing the backstory of the piece. None of the items themselves are really that interesting, and you'd have to do a lot of reading about each item to understand the meaning behind them. However, most of the stories are just average break up stories and I didn't feel emotionally engaged by any of them. The most interesting part for me was reading the guest book at the back with some pretty funny comments on there. If it was a free museum then I would say go there since it's a very unique concept so it could be interesting. But paying €7 to look at some objects from broken relationships, it's not really worth it.
Ai — Google review
Gotta be honest, I was expecting some sort of tourist trap. Hell I was wrong!!! Despite its small size, this is one of the most interesting and engaging museums you'll ever visit. Each object tells such a compelling and vivid story of heartbreak that transports you to the heartbreaks you've experienced in your life. Some of the stories here are funny, some are sad, some are devastating (one in particular made me cry a lot!).

Saint Mark’s Church

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
Saint Mark’s Church is a monumental Catholic church in Zagreb, constructed in the 13th century and located in St. Mark's Square. The church features a medieval-style architecture with a Baroque bell tower added in the 17th century. Its most recognizable feature is the colorfully tiled roof depicting the city's emblem and Croatian coat of arms, making it a popular spot for history enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Unfortunately it’s close at the moment so you can only see it from outside or the best view of the roof you can take it from the Lotrscak Tower. If you go during the weekend in the summer from 5 to 8pm you can see few people dressed with the old time fashion.
Gloria S — Google review
St. Mark's Church dates back to 13 cent and is located on top of the upper town on the same name square housing the Croatian parliament next door. Most distinctive and eye catching feature are the Croatian and Zagreb coat of arms on its roof. Unfortunately the Church is closed currently for renovations.
Dejan B — Google review
Saint Mark’s Church in Zagreb’s Upper Town is a stunning sight, even from the outside. Its colorful tiled roof with Croatia’s and Zagreb’s coats of arms is unique and eye-catching. The Gothic portal looks impressive, but you can’t get too close due to barriers. It’s a bit disappointing it’s closed for repairs, but still worth seeing. The square around it feels historic and lively despite the restrictions.
Ramdas P — Google review
1 | St. Mark’s Church in Zagreb dates back to the 13th century, making it one of the city’s oldest architectural monuments. It is easily recognized by its vividly tiled roof, which displays the coats of arms of the medieval Triune Kingdom of Croatia‑Slavonia‑Dalmatia and the City of Zagreb. 2 | The church roof is very photogenic, and the site is worth a visit. During our stay in Zagreb in July 2025, the church was under renovation, and construction container towers were set up in front of it. The interior couldn't be visited, and it was nearly impossible to take a decent photo of the church.
Petr N — Google review
St. Mark’s Church, located in Zagreb’s historic Upper Town (Gornji Grad), is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, largely due to its striking tiled roof. This colorful roof features two coats of arms made from glazed ceramic tiles. On the left side is the emblem of the former Kingdom of Croatia, Slavonia, and Dalmatia, representing the union of these historical regions. It combines a red-and-white checkerboard for Croatia, three lion heads for Dalmatia, and a marten running across a field with a star above for Slavonia. On the right side of the roof is the coat of arms of the city of Zagreb. It shows a white, three-towered city gate on a blue background, symbolizing openness and protection, with a golden six-pointed star and crescent moon above it. The roof was added during a major restoration in the late 19th century, reflecting both national pride and the Gothic revival style of the time. Today, it serves not only as a beautiful architectural feature but also as a meaningful symbol of Croatia’s history and Zagreb’s civic identity. The church is currently closed. Croatia's main political activities (Parliament) is also located on St Mark's Square.
KloudManc — Google review
Clean, quiet, colourful roof stands out beautifully against the autumn blue sky. Go around to view it from the back also.
Bren K — Google review
Saint Mark’s Church uniquely colourful tiled roof makes it a Zagreb icon! Also, it is one of the oldest buildings in the city dating from the 13th century. Depending on the time or day, this section of the main square is bordered off by security due to government meetings so you may not get to see inside the church!

Very nice outlet, good prices, a bit far from the city, but definitely worth going to..
Shereif W — Google review
Driving back to Slovenia, we stopped to see the Roses Designer Outlet. It’s a beautiful place, clean and love the colors on the buildings but it has very little stores left. The ones that were opened had great deals on. Bought a super cute top from S. Oliver. It did have a small seating area restaurant open, which was nice. Great place to let the kids run around and burn off some energy!! Since it’s so empty. Open 7 days a week including the weekend from 10am to 8pm. They did have beautiful roses growing everywhere.

The place is beautiful and clean - great.. BUT this is supposed to be an OUTLET with cheaper prices. I found things priced the same as they were in the regular store. It’s actually more affordable to wait for a sale in a certain store than drive all the way here..

Roses Designer Outlet is located just next to the border between Croatia and Slovenia. We visit it with whole family to dress kids, my wife and myself. It is a great opportunity for a stop during your long journey to Adriatics or back home before long traffic jam at the border. One can go for shopping or have a lunch break in the Roses' restaurants. The Outlet has a lot of clothes and footware options to choose from: designer shoes collection, dresses, suits, jeans or sport ware are represented here from most of the trendy brands. However one should notice that shops availability quite often depends on a season and year and some of them are closed when you just need them! Thereby I am giving only four points from five to this Designers Outlet. In any case the Roses is must to visit destination with moderate prices for disigners ware) I wish you to have fun here!

It is well worth a visit because the castle is beautiful, and the armoury and the feast is always tons of fun with kids. You can find some nice restaurants close by, and the city centre / main square is a 5 minute walk from here. There is a parking lot that can get crowded, but it’s fairly cheap and a public restroom has been added to the parking lot, so all in all, it’s a nice starting point to discover the city.

Love this place! I love museums anyways... This one is a lot of reading and tabloids on the wall with history in a fairly small but old castle. There are some quirky bits, like the lookout tower (I have vertigo, so only the hubby went up there with the older kids), rung the tower bell. If you go, although it costs a bit extra, it is worth watching the 3D movie about Hungarian history. For tourists it gives a really good summary, for Hungarians it is a cool short film to remind one of the school taught facts and stories. The best time to visit is the beginning of August, when there is a historical fair in the whole of the city centre, called Ostromnapok. It lasts the whole weekend and you can time travel back into the Middle Ages - eat the food, listen to the music, play the medival games or witness the re-enacting of the Hungarian-Turkish fights of 1500s with lots of soldiers and even cannon shots, the castle being the centre of attention. You can also buy memorabilia in this Mediterranean feel gem of a place.

Fire Tower

Sights & Landmarks
The Fire Tower in Sopron, a 13th-century structure with a 200-step spiral staircase leading to a balcony offering stunning views of the town and its surroundings. Situated on the ruins of an ancient Roman wall, this iconic landmark served as the northern entrance to the city. The tower's baroque balcony and onion dome make it easily recognizable. While it no longer functions as a watch post, visitors can still learn about its historical significance and enjoy panoramic vistas from its summit.
Great view from the tower at an affordable price. I recommended! On the way up the tower you can lean about the history of the tower and the city of Sopron through the ages. The history is illustrated with pictures and information in Hungarian, German and English. You do need to climb some narrow stairs to get up to the tower. It’s an old tower so there is no elevator to get up. I have added pictures from daytime, nighttime and the view from the tower overlooking the city.
Alexander W — Google review
Whose idea was to put that "SopronFest" poster all around the tower? It has no place there. By the time you see it, you're already in Sopron, so what's the point in ruining the most iconic building of the city. Well, putting that aside, go see the tower, read its history, spend some time going through the exhibition inside, climb the stairs and enjoy the view!!
Zsolt B — Google review

Chong C — Google review
I would say this represents the focal point of Sopron and with the great 360 degree views from the tower is definitely worth a visit. But you can combine this scenic experience with cultural interest by including the lapidarium which contains carved stone elements, some dating back to Roman times. Also if you go down to the basement you are standing on part of an ancient Roman road.

From outside it is nicely renovated. You can take great photos of it from the square

Familypark Neusiedlersee is Austria's oldest theme park, located near Lake Neusiedl. The 145,000 square meter park features over 30 themed rides and attractions spread across four different theme worlds: the Experience Castle, Fairy Tale Forest, Farm, and Adventure Island. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dining options within the park. The staff is known for being friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for guests.
This is the first theme park what I’ve ever enjoyed as an adult. It’s clean, there are lots of attractions for the children and parents. Amazing! I recommend to buy tickets online in advance. We’ll come back!
Nándor T — Google review
The worst family trip experience in recent years! We specifically traveled with our 3-year-old child from Bratislava, spending a considerable amount of money — €78 for two adults and another €39 for a child ticket. And what did we get? Our child was not allowed on most rides due to being 90 cm tall, as almost all attractions are only available for those 120 cm and taller. This raises the question: why do you charge for a child ticket if there are practically no activities available for such young children? This feels misleading. Our child was upset, and we were disappointed, as we expected a family-friendly day out but ended up with nothing but frustration. A park that calls itself “family-oriented” should honestly inform visitors about such height restrictions or provide at least some attractions suitable for small children. After such an experience, I cannot recommend this park and believe the management should seriously consider how to compensate guests for situations like this

I love it here! We always have such a great time. The workers are really nice, and the atmosphere is amazing — so cheerful and full of fun. The carousels and rides make it perfect for all ages. Definitely one of my favorite places to visit!

We absolutely love this place! ❤️ We’ve been coming here since our kids were 3 and 4 years old — now they’re 10 and 8 — and we’ve tried it in every season: at Easter, in summer, and in autumn as well. Most recently, we attended the Halloween party and watched the evening show at the end, which was a circus performance. The kids adored it! 🎪 The Halloween decorations were simply fantastic — so detailed and high-quality. We also really appreciate that there are plenty of restaurants and restrooms throughout the park. This time my mom came with us too — she doesn’t go on the rides, but she still loved the atmosphere, the environment, and the evening lights. ✨ We can warmly recommend this place to everyone. We’ve already been several times, and we’ll definitely be back again! 🎃👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

It was a perfect day for an autumn holiday! Family Park was beautifully antique, with nature and attractions blending together in such a lovely way. We visited during the Halloween season, and the decorations and people were truly amazing. Next year, I’d love to get an annual pass and visit more often.

Very nice park with children. For example, our child is 6 years old, 1.2m tall. He was only allowed to go to one attraction, he could go everywhere else, of course with an adult. Definitely not intended only for adults who want adrenaline. I recommend it.
Aurimas G — Google review
Went last year and this year again. Price seems high but if you spend all day there every penny is worth. Some rides have longer line ups but I think its part of this type experience. Many times you will wait in the shade. No one wants to be there on cold or rainy day. Kids (7 and 9) had lots of fun on Crocodile Splash Ride. Be ready that you wait in the line for 20+ minutes to get super wet. If you go to the Lake Dragon Boat make sure to keep bag/purse/backpack on side in the shelf designated for it. We saw a girl who put the bag by her knees and it ended up in the water Only one minus I see that restaurants dont offer healthy options. Both times we went to Family Park we had tasty dinner in village called Rust just 5 minutes away from the park.

Esterházy Palace

Esterházy Palace, located in Eisenstadt, is a grand royal baroque residence and museum set in beautifully landscaped gardens. This giant yellow castle-palace dates back to the 14th century and has undergone baroque and neoclassical makeovers. While some of its 256 rooms are occupied by the provincial government, visitors can tour about seven rooms to gain insight into the palace's history and the lives of its inhabitants.
The palace museum consists of 3 parts. Ground floor - quite a strange, in my opinion, exposition. But maybe someone will like it.. 1st floor - an interesting part of the palace, which contains the Haydn Hall, various collections, household items, and other curiosities. And a very interesting part - basement, wine museum The palace is worth your attention. Entrance costs 19 euros. But you should keep in mind that there are only guided tours during the week. If you just want to walk and look, then choose Saturday and Sunday. There is an underground parking lot, which is quite expensive. There is a much cheaper parking lot 100 meters from the palace. But it is better to drive past the palace and stop at the parking lot 200 meters along the park A walk through the park will also be pleasant!

A good place to travel quietly. A place where Haydn's grave is located

Wanted to visit this palace since I was visiting Europe for a few weeks. It is about an hour drive from Vienna, but the architecture, the history, the interior and the vine cellar is well worth the trip.

Amazing guided tour at 13:00 in English. Interesting facts about palace and its owners. Ticket is 19 eur for Adult. Alternative to come to concert to see the most beautiful part of the palace - Haydnsaal

We enjoyed it. We were staying in the area and it was free with our Burgenlandcard. We didn’t do the English tour as it was at 1pm and we were wanted to visited earlier. I would recommend the audio guide which is included with the admission. The Haydn explosive exhibition is rather strange though with lots of odd striped carpet and it all made my eyes hurt.i was told that Haydn was the equivalent of a pop artist in his day so they have made that but rather modern

Laxenburg Castle Park, located just a short drive from Vienna, is a picturesque destination featuring 13th-century and 16th-century castles surrounded by a serene lake. The park offers a tranquil atmosphere with its expansive tree-filled grounds, making it perfect for leisurely strolls. Visitors can explore the historical landscape gardens and discover the Franzensburg along with various monuments and buildings. Additionally, there's an option to rent electric boats for a relaxing lake exploration experience.
Such a beautiful place. It’s winter now so you better get warm clothes and ready to walk. I bet in summer it’s moreeee attractive. There’s also a park for kids, it’s really good. Beautiful landscape! For sure I’d come back in summer.

I've spent almost an entire day here with my friends back in June and it was just beautiful – relaxing, pretty nature, and plenty of things to do: you can have a picnic (like we did), rent a boat for a ride around the lake (very enjoyable), get some ice-cream, try spotting all the animals on the park's ground, and explore all the paths. It's definitely the perfect weekend gateway when the weather is nice and warm. ☀️🏰

I don't know how we missed this jewel. We've been to Wien many times but had never gone for a walk in this park. It was relaxing and beautiful. It has free parking and a nice cafe beside the small lake. One could take a tour of the castle but we did not. You have to save something for the next time.

The park is huge but you can also take a walk on the little train. There are wonderful areas where you can enjoy the scenery. You can take a small ferry to the island with the castle. Still, the park is the attraction.

What a great discovery! A beautiful, big park. Worth seeing. Dog-friendly (only on leash).
Zofia M — Google review
It was a delightful experience. The park offers a serene atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing afternoon picnic. The lush greenery and well-maintained trails create a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Additionally, the boat ride on the lake was fantastic, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. For families, the park provides numerous playgrounds for children to enjoy, adding to the overall charm. If little ones get tired from walking, there's even a train that tours the entire park, making it convenient for families with young children.

Tours of flooded gypsum mine & WWII aircraft factory with boat trips on the large underground lake.
Hidden gem of a place! Really easy to get from Vienna. The mine is well cared for. Our guide spoke English, was super entertaining and we learnt much about the world war 2 period. Don't miss out! Boat ride is cool!

Is it worth it? Yes in its way. If you’re looking for places to visit just out of curiosity or learn a thing or two, then go for it! You will also enjoy the ride until you reach the destination which is very beautiful! Enter the tunnel and start going back to time!! Enjoy and learn

Wow! This is so worth the visit! Very interesting and a true walk back into the WW2 era. It is cool (8degrees all year round) and some spots are slippery. It’s quite large and the guide was exceptional with knowledge and facts. Highly recommend tour if you are in the area!!! Very much enjoyed this one.

Very fun experience! We came in as a group of 20 students and had a very pleasant tourguide who joked around with us while talking about the scenery. The boat ride provided some pretty cool views. Overall, we had a lot of fun! Only downside is that we expected the tour to take a little bit longer.

Beautiful cave experience! You start with a guided walk through the cave, then continue with a short boat ride, and afterward you can explore on your own at your own pace on the way back. Inside it’s a refreshing 9°C, so it feels nice and cool. You can also rent a blanket at the entrance for just €0.50 and return it afterward. You can pay by card, and there’s a small coffee place with a toilet (most likely you should buy something if you want to use it). Overall, a beautiful and unique experience!

A very unique spot to visit in vicinity of Vienna which takes around 45-50 minutes to go through. You start walking into the cave and a guide explains you few things at various spots and at the end is a boat trip at lowest level (60m below ground level). The ticket costs 18 euros per person. You have possibility to rent something warm (1 euro) to wear if you forgot to come dressed for lower temperature inside. The boat trip is the best part. With lighting the whole thing looks fantastic. You can find parking for car at the street next to it or go near the tennis place to park (beware to not park on Privatgrund of tennis place). Overall worth the buck.

Kurpark Oberlaa, located at the southeastern edge of Vienna, is a serene and verdant retreat designed for relaxation and leisure. Originally established for the International Garden Show in 1974, this expansive park offers a diverse range of attractions including allergy-friendly gardens, a flower maze, and a charming Japanese garden. Visitors can stroll along winding paths to admire an array of beautiful plants while taking in the picturesque ponds inhabited by graceful swans.
stunning park filled with endless greenery—being surrounded by nature here truly feels rejuvenating. Don’t forget to bring snacks and some food, as there’s a lot of walking involved and you’ll want to take your time enjoying the peaceful environment.

This park was referred by my daughter and me and my wife came to this park and we both loved the view and the atmosphere the nature and the fresh breeze, beauty and the environment. There are lots of spots that can relax and enjoy the nature. Some ponds with sun beds and other seats. Also will be a great location for family camping or picnic activities. This park also can be a place where you can run and do some activities.

This is one of the most beautiful urban parks I have ever been to. I was immediately blown away by the beauty, silence and the nostalgic feeling it gave me!

This is a must for any not-first-time Vienna visitor: this huge, natural-looking yet meticulously manicured park has been built around 1970 on top of a large (and diligently secured) dumpster, but you would never guess its past. Cozy nooks everywhere, impressive, shady trees, vast lawn areas, free lounge chairs that make you relax immediately, a number of water features, a labyrinth, playgrounds, a Japanese garden... You can't really discover it all in one take. If you are stamina-challenged, choose one of the entrances on top and then let yourself "roll" comfortably downhill. It is quiet here mid-week; it helps that the use of anything with wheels (except strollers) is not allowed. Once you arrived at the bottom of the hill, don't miss taking a break and enjoying a sweet delight at the Kurkonditorei Oberlaa: these folks know how to spoil your sweet tooth!

Best place to enjoy a peaceful time!!

Peaceful place I keep coming back to because it’s a piece of nature which feels like escaping the fast paced city life. It’s just super sad that a lot of dog owners don’t respect the leash requirement rules. They let their dogs run off leash and the dogs run around and scare the wild life such as ducks :( not cool
Happy_muffin _ — Google review
It’s a milestone in a Vienna to do list with beautiful lake and lama park. You need more than a couple hours to visit the park as it deserves. I could just visit one half and I’ll come back another time to see the other half.
