Sights & Landmarks
The Patara Antique Theatre is a well-preserved historical site that offers an immersive experience for history enthusiasts. This ancient Lycian city boasts impressive ruins, including a grand amphitheater and Roman bath complex, showcasing remarkable architectural prowess. The theater itself is considered one of the best-preserved examples from antiquity, offering an atmospheric and picturesque view. While it was once located near the coast, the sea has since receded.
The acoustics here are incredible. We recommend arriving early to enjoy it. Patara is a unique place with history and energy. Very beautiful complex antique-city right next to the sand dunes and the sea. When you come here you will explore nature, antiquity.
Kristina T — Google review
A relatively small amphitheater, seating only 6000 spectators in 38 rows of seats. It was first built in the BC era but there were a series of improvements and expansions. During the early eastern Roman. A wall was later built between the seats and the stage to enable gladiator and wild animal fights. The arena is still in a state of disrepair and it is dangerous to try to access the seating area. Most of the area is fenced off but there is an entrance on the left side so you can view the interior.

I bit pricey to enter (€15) per person but if you’re around you definitely should visit. I recommend evening time. We went there after 6pm. This is a perfect time. Very very few people so you could explore the place in peace, without a rush and had it almost to yourself. This one of very few heritage site that you can literally walk everywhere and touch everything so you can experience the real ancient world. Amazing feeling to enter the amphitheatre trough main entrance onto the stage and to look up and around. You get the feeling from the Gladiator, when they were entering the Colosseum. You can almost imagine the cheering crowds. There is also restored Theatre which is also amazing. I love the way you see more than just few stones . You can actually see it as it was!!!. There are view cons. No clear directions as what to see or where to go. Little map or leaflet would be helpful. Also should be some clear signage to point you where to go next. Whole place feel a little bit neglected, broken lamps and decking. Overall you should really visit this place and enjoy the ancient city of Patara

Hanzade TURKISH BATH & SPA CENTER

Spas & Wellness
Hammams & Turkish Baths
Hanzade Turkish Bath & Spa Center is a splendid destination that beautifully combines tradition and relaxation. Guests can indulge in an authentic hammam experience, followed by a range of catering options and comfortable accommodations in well-appointed bungalows surrounding a large swimming pool. After enjoying the steam bath or sauna, visitors are encouraged to treat themselves to traditional or therapeutic massages delivered by skilled professionals. The warm hospitality and attentive service create an inviting atmosphere for all guests.
Magnificent place which offers a traditional hammam, catering and now accommodation in remarkably equipped bungalows arranged around a huge swimming pool. After the steam bath or sauna I recommend traditional or medical massages which are provided by very competent staff. Very friendly welcome for attentive service. I recommend without reservation. I can recommend it. My family and I were very happy. We paid 420 euros for 2 people with a therapy massage, which was definitely worth it. If I could, I would give it more than 5 stars.
Ramazan K — Google review
BE CAREFUL! They are filming inside the massage area! Camera literally above your body. My experience at Hanzade Turkish Bath and SPA Center was extremely disappointing and concerning. During my visit, I was shocked to discover cameras installed inside the massage room. I only noticed this after I was asked to lie on my back (I saw it because my eyes weren’t fully covered). This felt like a huge invasion of privacy and is completely unacceptable in any professional spa environment. We spoke with the staff to express our concerns, but their response was that they have permission to have cameras there. However, when we asked to see this permission, they changed the subject and started showing us cameras in other common areas. While safety and security in general areas are important, having cameras where a person is almost naked is not appropriate. This is a severe violation of privacy, and we are extremely disappointed. We will not be returning, and I strongly urge others to stay away from this place until this issue is resolved.

AVOID THIS PLACE!! Very superficial! You are sent from sauna to sauna just to kill time. Dirty towels. They don't know English. They are not organized and leave you confused. Massage: towels dirty and stinky. Very cheap and unproffesional message. They just rub your skin with oil in a very poor way. They try to upsell You other massage packages while this one was rushed and really not a massage. Hamam: boys with abrasive gloves are aggressive with your skin are not careful. I told him to be gentle as I had sunburns in some places, but didn't matter. I had some soap in my eye that hurt very bad. I had soap on my body after, because of superficial treatment and rinsing. Saunas are ok but over crowded. I think they overbook.
Adi P — Google review
I was at this place today and it was far from relaxing! It’s all about money making and zero customer satisfaction! You end up spending above your budget. I had a massage with agreed price but ended up taking something I didn’t like bcos of the aggressive form of advertising by one of the guys, telling me what I need and don’t need. I should’ve refused the NOT-SO -SPECAIL TREATMENT! It’s quite disappointing as I will not recommend this place for anyone!
Adanna I — Google review
Avoid at all costs, this place is a scam. Read the reviews, can’t add much more. The entire place is filthy, massage room and jacuzzi are freezing, the entire time they try to diagnose you with problems and are extremely rude and aggressive when you politely decline. Don’t get me started about multiple people entering the massage room and the cameras right above. A guy harshly grabbed my mother by the hand to direct her when she turned the wrong way. I could go on for hours. AVOID.
Airidas N — Google review
I liked it ( every moment till the last one) that's why I don' t give 5 stars because the massage didn't seem to me what it would should be...the medical massage didn't seem to me the best...

Red Tower

Mentioned on
+91 other lists
Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
The Red Tower, also known as Kizilkule, is an iconic 13th-century octagonal tower located in the city of Alanya. It was commissioned by the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad and constructed by architect Abu Ali Reha el Kettani. The upper parts of the tower are made of baked red bricks, giving it its distinctive name.
Standing at the Red Tower in Alanya, gazing out over the deep blue sea, I felt as if I had stepped back in time to the Middle Ages. The gentle sound of waves crashing against the shore and the serene view under the clear sky created a sense of timeless tranquility. The tower’s red bricks and its ancient, steadfast presence pulled me into a different era, leaving me with a blend of emotions that were both nostalgic and reflective. As I looked at the medieval fortress, I couldn’t help but wonder about the people who once stood in the same spot, taking in the very same sea. What did this view mean to them? Did they dream of the unknown world beyond the horizon, or was it merely a backdrop to their daily lives? While the sea represented freedom and calmness to me, for them, it might have been a stage for survival, a gateway to trade, or a boundary against threats. The pleasant weather made my walk even more enjoyable. With the warm sunlight on my skin and a gentle sea breeze brushing past, I wandered along the path, savoring the blend of past and present. Amidst the modern buildings, the Red Tower stood as a portal to history, allowing me to momentarily step into the shoes of those who lived centuries before. For a brief moment, I felt less like a tourist and more like a character in a living story, where history whispered through the stones. Ultimately, what I felt at the Red Tower was a profound sense of connection. It was a link between past and present, between myself and countless souls who had also gazed at this sea. Perhaps they, too, had felt the same breeze, stood against the same horizon, and pondered their place in the world. My experience at the Red Tower was more than just a travel memory—it was a resonant moment that left a lasting imprint on my story, blending the ancient with the present in a way that felt both humbling and inspiring.

Great historical place. Couldn’t go in as it closed as I arrived, but a fascinating history and satisfying walk round the shipyards which are not far away and very cheap for entry.
Lewis B — Google review
the red tower (kızılkule) is definitely a must-visit spot. the sea below is very clean, the view is stunning, and the tower itself tells a rich historical story — it’s truly wonderful. i highly recommend exploring both the inside and outside of the castle, as every part has something unique to offer. for me, this place will always remain a part of my childhood, and i deeply love it. it gives me an incredible sense of peace and connection. the view of the ships and boats during sunset is absolutely breathtaking. at the upper parts of the castle, you can also find different restaurants and tourist spots where you can take a break, enjoy the scenery, and fully experience the magical atmosphere of this historic landmark.
Cemre — Google review
great place worth visiting. In addition to the history of the tower and ship yard there was an exhibition as a part of the 9th ALANYA INTERNATIONAL CARTOON COMPETITION with the topic "Living in a world with artificial inteligence". The exhibition was a great contrast to the surrounding history. Highly recommend.
Dragan A — Google review
Come here at the evening, the view is better and more cosy. Very touristy place, you can see it once but that's that. I did not go inside, so cannot comment on that. Seems like you can go around the defense walls which starts at the castle. You can go walk on the water nearby, don't miss that as the little stones are smooth for the foot and feels well.

Alara Castle

Mentioned on
1 list
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical landmark
The Alara Castle is situated on a steep and rocky hill, and can be accessed by bus, car or a challenging trek. It is not a popular tourist destination and involves traversing through stairs within the mountain. The path to the castle is like a trekking adventure and can be reached by walking about 10 km from Raymar hotel without any entrance fee. The ruins of the Byzantine fortress provide an amazing panoramic view, making it an exciting exploration opportunity for enthusiasts seeking unconventional sightseeing experiences.
There are apparently two ways up: one through a tunnel (which we didn’t find) and another by following the blue arrows outside. I’d rate this as a T4 hike (Swiss scale), meaning you need to scramble and use your hands at times. The path can be hard to follow, so if you lose it, just backtrack and look for the blue arrows. Definitely not for beginners—good footwear is essential. The view is stunning, and the castle at the top is absolutely worth the climb.
Andy A — Google review
Forbidden to enter, according to signs on the ground. For the entrance follow the signs and the river upstream. There are bats in the stairway and it's dangerous to walk, especially downstairs. But the view from the ground is nice. There's a restaurant and the local children swim in the beautiful and clear river.
Rauf K — Google review
It was rebuilt by the Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat in 1232, and the Byzantine ruins inside were preserved, giving it its current appearance. The castle was built to protect the main trade route and the Alara Inn. It is thought that commercial ships came to the front of the castle at that time.
Quinn H — Google review
this place is truly worth seeing, a real natural wonder. however, it’s very sad that locals have polluted it so much — you can find plastic and trash almost every few meters. the river is still clean, but people really need to stop littering and take better care of this beautiful spot. if you plan to visit, i strongly recommend bringing garbage bags with you and making sure not to leave any plastic or waste behind. it would be so much more enjoyable if more conscious visitors came here. despite the pollution, we still had a wonderful time. the water is very cold, and in safe spots it’s possible to swim, which was a great experience. we didn’t have the chance to climb up to the castle this time, but i definitely want to do that on my next visit.
Cemre — Google review

Altınbeşik Cave National Park

Caverns & Caves
Very impressive cave, although low water around October so cant go super deep. Still worth it! The drive from side to there is crazy, the views already are a highlight! Get a rental car and stop anywhere you like. 3 Euro entry per car into national park, 5 Euro per person for the boat tour. They round it up but its possible to pay with Euro!
Kaiwen F — Google review
I had the pleasure of visiting Altınbeşik Cave, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. We had to wait in line for about 20 minutes before boarding the boat, as it was a national religious holiday in Turkey – Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice), celebrated in 2025 from June 7 to 10 – so the place was quite crowded. On other days, the line is probably shorter. The walk toward the cave was already breathtaking – surrounded by rock formations, high cliffs with scattered trees growing on steep slopes. Near the cave entrance, there's a beautiful bay or lagoon with crystal-clear water reflecting the surrounding mountains. The water is so clear that you can see the bottom, and along the cliffs, we noticed some mud nests, probably made by swallows or house martins, although some were partially damaged. Once we boarded the boat (about 10 people per ride), we entered a truly magical underground world. Some rock formations looked like stalactites, and in one section, a natural stone bridge crosses the cave above the water. At the end of the route, we saw white mineral deposits flowing down the rock face – very similar to a miniature Pamukkale. These are likely travertine formations, created by calcium-rich water depositing over time. At the cave entrance, there's a small café and souvenir shop, and before the boat ride, we were given helmets and life jackets for safety. Altınbeşik Cave is a spectacular and unique place – I absolutely recommend visiting it if you're in the region!
Deividas Z — Google review
Fantastic experience. Definitely worth to visit. For those who confused negative reviews: before enter to park you pay 135 tl for natural park contribution. For this price they give safety helmets for all ppl in your car + organized transfer from hill parking to the cave (every 10-15 min). For boat excursion we paid 250 tl per person (only 5€). And I think it's fair price. In Europe you will pay twice more. In the last village before park entrance you can find cafe with parking and toilet with friendly and kind staff. We bought local strawberries and fig's there to support local farmers and because of good natural taste. ❤️
Serg S — Google review
Look, not really worth it… it is a huge cave complex however you only get to see the first 100m on the boat ‘tour’. You can still see the entry when you turn around. 135lira for car entry and then 150 lira per person for the boat tour. You can’t see the cave without the boat tour as there is no walking entry into the cave. A shame as the cave complex looks epic. The views of the surrounding area are stunning. It would be nice if there were some walk trails.
Sasha B — Google review
We had an amazing visit to Altınbeşik Cave in Antalya! The cave itself is breathtaking with its stunning formations and underground lake. The boat ride through the cave was a unique experience, offering a peaceful and beautiful perspective of the area. The cave is well-maintained, and the surroundings are picturesque, making it a great spot for nature lovers. Highly recommend visiting if you're in Antalya — it’s a hidden gem that’s definitely worth the trip!
Anna V — Google review
Well worth a challenging drive, the main attraction is the cave its entered on a pontoon boat. It's beautifully lit, the cave is huge as you go deeper in the ceiling appeared 70, 80 meters high. There is a what looks like a natural arch which is really amazing that nature created that. The location of the cave and outside is amazing as well.
Mario S — Google review
Drove an hour to see the cave and take the boat tour. Very disappointing 30 minutes. The history and geology of the cave is impressive but that's where it stops. 1. The boat ride is a 10 minute 100m long punt into and straight out of the cave the same way and costs 250 lira each + 125 Lira car entry fee. Cave is nice, but generally disappointing 2. There's not card facilities so you need cash. 3. There's minimal information on the history of the cave. 4. Whole thing felt like a tourist trap, would be better if they opened up more of the cave or had walks around. Would not go back as it's fairly out of the way. Really don't get the high review score
James — Google review
It is a new discovered cave. You can trip by boat in it. My first visiting a cave like this. It has a water base. A little part of is open for visiting. It is forbidden swimming or walking inside.

(Translated by Google) It is far from Konya and the road is not good. But its nature is wonderful. The water flows like ice. The pergolas, pavilions built on the water and tables built by the forestry department are beautifully designed. It is best to go a little early to benefit from these. Garbage containers are available. There are toilets but they are poorly maintained. I didn't see any staff around. There were people bringing down huge pine trunks from the hill and lighting a fire. Unfortunately, our nation requires some supervision in order to behave civilly. Despite all this, I did not see any garbage left around. Of course, this is the pleasing part. My advice to those who are going to go is that when you approach the waterfall, there are two roads, one passing through the village and the other passing from above. You should pass through Sorkun Village from the lower road and buy freshly produced tahini and its derivative products.

When EVERYONE starts respecting nature, then the question of cleaning will disappear. Another point, when we arrived on 06/28/24, the waterfall was not working, that is, I still did not understand how the water was pouring there, because looking at the photos of other users who visited the park, there is water for some reason. And as for what the entrance fee is. Dear visitors, the question is this. How much does it cost to mow the grass, clean and moisten the area? I think that 20 is very little, because we spend much more on something useless. At least they will buy bread for the birds, and everyone will be full.

Excavations in the palace of Alaaddin Keykubad, Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad, have been continuing for 43 years. Located on the shores of Lake Beyşehir, Kubadabad Palace carries the traces of history to the present day. Kubadabad Palace, where excavations have been continuing for 43 years, is the only palace that has survived from the Seljuks. At the same time, the palace, which allows us to witness the transition from Asian nomadism to Ottoman palace life, also stands out with its tiles and architectural features. The construction of Kubadabad Palace, which carries some information such as palace life and state order to the present day, started in 1225 during the reign of Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad. In the palace, which was used until the beginning of the 14th century, there are many tiles with figures and narratives on which we can obtain information about the life of the sultan and his circle.  The rare ceramic works unearthed from the palace are exhibited primarily in the Karatay Museum. Kubadabad Palace, which is mentioned in the Seljukname of the famous Seljuk historian Ibn Bibi and is the only Seljuk palace structure that has survived to the present day, was built by Sadeddin Dog by the order of Alaaddin Keykubad I (1220-1236). Ancient Ruins
Çatalhöyük is a significant archaeological site that features the remains of a large neolithic settlement. It dates back to 7,500 BC and is considered one of the oldest human civilizations in the world. The town boasts wall paintings inside houses, giving us a glimpse into ancient life. Located near Konya, visitors can take a short day trip to explore the excavated sites, museum and recreated houses.
Free entry to this ancient wonder is an absolute steal! Çatalhöyük offers a fascinating window into the lives of our earliest ancestors. As the oldest known civilization, it's really interesting to imagine their society. Walking through the ruins, you can't help but feel a deep connection to humanity's history. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in archaeology or human origins. They also have model houses, where you can walk through to experience how the society used to live. Worth the visit!

This Neolithic and Chalcolithic 7500-5600 BC site has been on my list for a few years and further interest stimulated after visiting the Anatolian Civilization Museum in Ankara this March. The site overlooks the Konya Plains and is a pleasant 40 min rural drive south from Konya. It has a very interesting interactive museum, State of the Art, bookstore and cafe. Would suggest allowing extra time for the museum, it is amazing and exhibits are in English and Turkish. It is educational, great fun and wonderful introduction before walking up the short ramp to the archaeological site perched on top of a small hill.

Great place to visit for history buffs. Sadly the southern wing is closed due to ongoing archeological work. The replica buildings are fascinating. Downside: Most of the excavated items have been shipped to the museum in Konya.
Soydan E — Google review
Çatalhöyük is the best archeological site/museum I have seen in years. Modern architecture nicely blends to surroundings and on a sunny day this makes a perfect visit. It combines first section that is mostly educational and the second one that reflects these teachings and makes great understanding on how successful is the digging of this faboulous settlement. I was especiially impressed with the media explanations (i.e. animations, posters, interactive movies depicting settlers real life....) with artefacts, posters and diagrams that place Çatalhöyük in the context with the other world's archelogical great sites. Also world class are the replicas of the exteriors and interiors of the settlement's houses. Things to know Bring your own water and some snacks. One can easily spend 3 to 4 hours here and if the café is closed like today one is on his/her own. In short if you are in Konya this place is a must see.
Dragan A — Google review
Excellent museum and Neolithic site, which makes understanding accessible and entertaining. Staff very helpful and friendly. Cafe staff the same. We were surprised that, besides Egypt, there was no mention of Africa at all in the archaeological timeline ! Getting to the site is a bit tricky without your own car, and if you don't want to do the tour bus. We caught the Cumra bus from the local autobus terminal close to Mevlana Meydan, then a taxi from Cumra to Catalhoyuk. We caught a ride back with the tour bus at about 15.45, which dropped us off on Mevlana Meydan.
Mark M — Google review
Solo traveller tip here: if you are in konya check the shuttle bus to the site, it's very convenient and ATM the only option to go there if you haven't a car. The museum is very nice and the site is breathtaking. You can't miss it if in konya.

The Stone Works Museum of Fine Minaret is a must-visit destination in Konya, housed in a historically significant 13th-century building. It offers an enriching experience filled with art and culture, showcasing a diverse collection of contemporary art pieces as well as galleries dating back to the Middle Ages. The museum's highlight is its renowned minaret made of tiles, which has attracted visitors since its completion in 1264.
If you like fine arts and love architecture it is a must to see these fine stone carvings survived many hundreds of years until now. This building used to be an university where education and living was free for every student. Payed by the foundation where they were also work in administrative positions. Getting experienced in work as well while studying. It is interesting to know that the Selçuklu Empire had carvings of fantastic figures such as sirens, double headed eagles, phoenix and angels as well as hunting and animal figures. They took over a big part of the Eastern Roman Empire and developed.

Although it is pretty similar to the other madrasa north of alaaddin park, and the other one has more artifacts to admire, i give this one a higher rating because of the impressive architecture on the outside of the archway at the entrance door and the mineret next to it. Other than that, it is mainly just stones inside. The entrance is 20 lira so you can always check it out.

October 2023 The Mosque was closed on the day we visited and looked like it's been closed for a while. The carvings on the entrance are beautifully intricate. We stared at it for a good 10 minutes to take in the beauty. Accompanying minaret was strangely right next to the entrance. Mosque is adjacent to Kulture Park which is surrounded by hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafés. A very pleasant walk.

Alaaddin Hill Park in Konya is a serene and historic site, offering a perfect spot for picnics with its walking paths, benches, gardens, and trees. The park was built by the Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat and now serves as a peaceful green space in the heart of the city. Visitors can explore the Alaaddin Mosque and remnants of an old palace while enjoying the lush surroundings.
This is a very calm and green park a little to the north from downtown Konya. The place is not very crowded in the early hours of the afternoon and you can stroll along the green paths, as well as to get to know the examples of Seljuk architecture, like a mosque and what remain of a palace in the park.

Azizia Mosque

Azizia Mosque, located in Konya, Turkey, is a stunning example of Ottoman and baroque architecture. Construction began in 1676 AD, making it one of the city's historical landmarks. The mosque features intricate motifs and colorful Ottoman inscriptions, along with a beautiful tall minaret. Adjacent to a bustling market selling Turkish and Ottoman arts, it offers visitors an immersive cultural experience.
Aziziye Mosque, located near the Mevlana Rumi Tomb in Konya, is an architectural gem that left me in awe during my visit. While it might not receive as much attention as the tomb of Rumi, it is a masterpiece in its own right and absolutely worth exploring. Built in the late 17th century and later restored in the 19th century, the mosque stands out with its unique blend of Ottoman and Baroque architectural styles. The towering minarets with intricate detailing and the large central dome are mesmerizing, but what truly caught my attention were the stunning stained-glass windows that allow sunlight to pour into the prayer hall, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The interior is equally captivating, with ornate calligraphy, exquisite marble work, and beautifully painted ceilings. Every detail reflects the craftsmanship and artistry of the period. The mosque’s spacious courtyard also offers a peaceful spot to sit and reflect, making it a perfect complement to the spiritual experience of visiting the nearby Mevlana Museum. What makes Aziziye Mosque special is its ability to transport you back in time while providing a calm and welcoming space for visitors. I highly recommend taking a moment to visit this hidden treasure when you’re in Konya—it’s an unforgettable experience.
Mubeen H — Google review
Here’s a polished version of your message: "Experience the serene beauty of the mosque and the soul-stirring recitation of the Quran. Kindly note that there are only **5 minutes** between the Adhan (call to prayer) and the start of the Salah (prayer). To ensure you’re ready on time, I recommend performing your ablution (wudu) before arriving. This will help you settle in calmly and join the congregation without rushing. May your prayers be blessed!"
Alwaleed A — Google review
The mosque gets its name from Sultan Abdulaziz, who commissioned the reconstruction of the original mosque, which was destroyed in a fire in 1867. The original mosque dated back to the late 17th century. The mosque is big and reflects the architectural motifs of the late 19th century.
Reza N — Google review
Aziziye Camii is one of the most unique mosques I came across in Konya. Its baroque-style architecture really stands out, and the interior is absolutely beautiful — rich colors, high ceilings, and a calm, spiritual vibe. It’s not as crowded as some other spots, which makes it even more enjoyable to sit and admire the details. Located close to the Mevlana area, it’s easy to stop by while exploring the city. A great blend of history and beauty.
Aon S — Google review
Thos mosque is totally different architecture with other mosques. I have visited many mosques during 5 weeks Turkey trip. Here is so beautiful and intriguing. Some kind of mixture of western and eastern. You have to visit here if you visit Konya. Don’t miss the bazaar near here and this mosque. Truly hidden gem!
Mothusi — Google review
The architecture of this mosque is very nice and the details are so good to appreciate. This is a free place to visit for tourists, of course you have to respect the place and the people praying. It’s within the market so definitely stop and check it.
Mike A — Google review
One of the most underrated mosques in Turkey. First built in 16-17th century and then rebuilded by Sultan Abdülaziz in the second half of 19th century. Both interior and exterior engravings present rare examples of Baroque-style design, which makes it unique among mosques.
Ahmet K — Google review
The Pertevniyal mosque in Istanbul was built in this way, from the Ottoman baroque architectural works, in the same way. it represents a more baroque view than the usual mosque image. Close to Mevlana museo

The Shams of Tabriz Mosque and Tomb is a significant site in Konya, Turkey, housing the tomb of the revered 12th-century poet and spiritual mentor of Rumi, Shams Tabrizi. Although Iranians believe that Shams' actual tomb is in Khoy, Iran, this mosque holds cultural value as a symbolic site. The unassuming small building exudes a wonderful atmosphere for meditation and reflection.
A deeply spiritually significant mosque. Holding a tomb dedicated to Shams, Rumi's teacher.

Small mosque where the tomb of Shams of Tabriz is supposed to be located. However, there are similar burial places claimed by other cities ( up to 5), including one Unesco World Heritage place in Iran. According to contemporary Sufi tradition, Shams mysteriously disappeared: some say he was killed by close disciples of Rumi who were jealous of the close relationship with Rumi but according to others, he left Konya.
JR S — Google review
Wonderful atmosphere, very nice to sit in a corner and meditate. We left because the evening prayer started, but came back the next day to meditate again. Unassuming small building, particularly compared with the sumptuous burial site of Shams’ disciple Rumi. Shams is a bit like the forgotten Master

The Mevlana Museum, also known as the Mausoleum of Rumi, is a significant tourist attraction in Konya. It houses the tomb of the revered Sufi mystic Rumi and features a museum displaying various artifacts from his life and era. Visitors can explore ancient manuscripts, hand-written copies of the Quran, musical instruments from Rumi's time, and art pieces dating back to the Seljuk era.
Unfortunately, the museum was closed when I visited, but even from the outside it was absolutely worth it. The turquoise dome, the Seljuk-Ottoman design, and the calm atmosphere around the place are breathtaking. You can really feel the spiritual energy here, and just sitting outside was peaceful. A must-visit in Konya and 5 stars without a doubt!

One of the high point of my trip to Turkey. Honoring the Sufi religion and Rumi at the Mevlana Museum and Mosque. Cleansing in the water of life after visiting Rumi's burial site. The Mevlana Jalaluddin-i Rumi Mosque is magnificent. Sufism is a mystic body of religious practice found within Islam which is characterized by a focus on Islamic purification, spirituality, ritualism. Although Sufis were opposed to dry legalism, they strictly observed Islamic law and belonged to various schools of Islamic jurisprudence and theology. A day never to be forgotten .

One of Turkey’s most iconic and spiritual sites. This is the resting place of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi, the famous Sufi poet and mystic. The museum preserves manuscripts, ceremonial garments and artifacts from the Whirling Dervishes, while the turquoise conical dome makes the building instantly recognizable. A deeply meaningful and historic place absolutely worth a visit.

Here lies one of the biggest inspirational poets of all time whose thoughts have enlightened the many souls. The museum is inside the complex, which houses Rumi's tomb. You get to learn about the life of disciples during the life of Rumi and the way things worked in 13th century.

This place is a huge deal for those who have enjoyed Rumi’s poems and deep thoughts at least once. It is free and no need to buy tickets. It is divided into doors (babs) and separate parts to roam around like the main museum, tombs, and poems and photos. No recording with flash but normal one is ok. Those who know persian can also read the scripts and poems that are everywhere. The garden part is also enjoyable for sitting or drinking coffee.

The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is a captivating destination featuring exotic plants, butterflies, and an insect museum. Situated adjacent to the Selcuklu Flower Garden and the Adventure Tower, this expansive urban park boasts a butterfly-shaped building with a glass roof covering 7,600 square meters.
When you enter, hundreds of butterflies silently greet you by clapping their hands. The humid and warm atmosphere, adorned with tropical plants, embraces you with all its presence. As you travel in this unique world, butterflies fly around you like moths, if one lands on your outstretched finger, our happiness will pass through the glass and reach the sky. I hope you will see it if you go to Konya in the spring.
Ali P — Google review
The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is straight-up like walking into a living watercolor painting. The second you step inside, you’re hit with warm, earthy air, layers of green everywhere, and butterflies just casually floating past like they own the place. It’s humid (like South Asian Summer humid), so definitely dress light and bring water, your skin will glow like never before in what feels like a tropical escape right in the middle of Konya. The glass dome itself? Stunning. It lets in soft natural light that bounces off vibrant wings and tropical leaves, perfect for photos but also just super calming to look at. They’ve recreated a whole ecosystem inside, with 40+ butterfly species from across the world flying freely around you. If you stand still long enough, one might even land on you! I literally held my breath hoping it would but that didn’t happen, one did land on my friend though! What I loved most is how clean and thoughtfully designed everything is. You don’t just walk through and take pictures , there are signs explaining butterfly lifecycles, and you can actually see some emerging from cocoons. It’s peaceful, quiet, and kind of magical. Whether you’re going with friends, solo, or on a soft-date vibe, it’s 100% worth the visit. Staff are friendly, tickets are affordable, and the whole experience is unforgettable.

It’s one of those places where you go not just to eat but also to take in the salt lake. The food was excellent, and under different weather it would’ve been perfect for a wander. Unfortunately, the rain kept us from exploring too far—but even so, it turned out to be quite an experience.

I am not sure Never mind .. I like this place & I will give it another try 🥹

Amazing salt bed which stretches for miles and miles ahead of you! If you dig into the salt water will pool out making it a great place to bathe your feet and such. The cafe on site has great food too and there’s a great shop to explore. Definitely worthwhile for anyone on a road trip in the area!

It’s a very special place, the water evaporates leaving behind a massive salt flat. The salt is a little bit pink but not as much as most pictures online. I definitely recommend it for a stopover if you’re traveling but it’s not really worth a special trip in my opinion.

Lake Mogan, located in Golbasi near Ankara, is a picturesque natural spot covering approximately 644,000 square meters. The area offers various recreational activities such as picnicking, camping, and fishing. Visitors can also enjoy walking trails and observe endangered waterfowl species. The lake features amenities including picnic tables, campsites, an amphitheater, a wedding hall, playgrounds, and designated walking paths.
One must visit this beautiful lake in the outskirts of Ankara. The walk around the perimeter is excellent, view of the lake from the tower is a must see for every visitor. There are many café that serve good eats and beverages.

A beautiful park to enjoy in the Gölbaşı area on the outskirts of the city. Entrance to the park is free and it is quite crowded on the weekends. However the families grilling and having picnics only adds to the charm of this place. There are various rides for the children like Popeye the sailor swings and Disney characters themed areas. The cafes are a little expensive and the lighthouse inside its perimeters is nice to look at. There’s also a tourist road train however I’m unsure where and how one can get a ticket for it.

I wasn't expecting much from looking at the pictures, but it's a very peaceful, comfortable and beautiful place just 30 minutes away from the bustling city center. There are walking tracks along the lake shore and boat rides. When the weather warms up someday, I'll definitely come back for a boat ride.

A very nice place to spend quality and relaxing time with family. There are designated play area for kids, and for BBQ. Recommended to check if there BBQ is allowed, otherwise there are couple of restaurants and cafes.

Mogan lake takes place at Gölbaşı. It is in wide area and good for refreshment at weekends or weekdays. There are cafes for breakfast and the prices are normal there. Just don't forget, if you order something order than breakfast it will be expensive which is tricky. At the weekends the lake is very crowded. There are many people having picnic around. Entrance to the park by person is free but entrance to the park by your car is not, you have to pay for parking. I recommend you to visit the park if you want to enjoy your time. You can take your own breakfast too.

One of the beautiful places in Ankara,a perfect place to watch the sunrise and sunset, but please the municipality should warn or fine the people who litter the ground because there are too many people messing around :(

Pretty lake in Ankara, sunset is amazing but be sure to be on the east side of the lake (I think opposite side of the official park entrance) , lots of cafes and restaurants along the east side, as well as walking and bike paths.

Lake Eymir, situated within the Middle East Technical University campus in Ankara, Turkey, offers a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts and visitors seeking a break from urban life. The picturesque lake is surrounded by pine trees and lush greenery, providing an ideal setting for activities such as cycling, jogging, and leisurely walks. It's a popular spot for picnics and birdwatching, with opportunities to observe various bird species.
A beautiful lake in the heart of Ankara, always a great experience spending time here on the weekends.

While Eymir Lake offers a beautiful backdrop for picnics, biking, and walks, safety concerns mar the experience. The lack of dedicated bike lanes forces cyclists and pedestrians to share the road with cars, creating a potential accident zone. The basic parking lot with no designated spaces and a single entry/exit point further increases the risk of collisions. Upgrading the infrastructure is crucial. Dedicated bike lanes, proper sidewalks, and a well-maintained parking area are essential. Even bike rentals would be a welcome addition. Basic amenities also need attention. The lone restaurant lacks secure bike parking, and the restrooms appear neglected. A lack of dedicated prayer areas and stray dog packs add to the concerns. With proper care, Eymir Lake has the potential to be an amazing getaway. Let's hope for improvements to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

It is a beautiful place for walking or if you want you can rent a bike, there some restaurants close to the lake unfortunately I didn't have the chance to taste them they took more than 40 minutes for my food and I had to go back. You can go by bus (190 opera) but it is gonna be a long road and you need to schedule your go back cause there's just one bus per hour.

Ohh how beautiful it is, away from the crowds, you can come with friends, family, or even alone, you can walk, run, ride your bike, which you can borrow there. Beautiful scenery, fresh, clean air. You'll find animals and birds, and it's definitely worth a visit, especially on a weekend morning.

Absolutely love this park! Love cycling with the family here. 🚴🏽🚲

The lake is beautiful by it's nature and clean air. You aren't allowed to enter the park by your private car. Only the cars with METU sticker are allowed to enter. What I think is that they shouldn't be let in either. Then I will give five stars. In the lake there are happy animals. You can rent a bike and ride around the lake. Also you can have a small picnic inside. Another option is taking a walk around that you will enjoy fresh air and the lake view. I recommend those who want to have a breathe and enyoj the nature visiting Eymir Lake.

So quiet place at night. You can rent a bike to make a tour around the lack in the morning. There's a restaurant u can order some snacks or food and enjoy eating it with the nice view of the lack.

If you are looking for a quite and serene place to escape from city life (Ankara) Eymir lake is the place. It is quite natural, with a lake stretching along. You can rent a bike for 10 to 15 Turkish liras per hour. You can also dine in the forest on your own or from the restaurants there. It is very safe place, a lot of people and families with their kids hung-out there.
