Incredible historical site that you must visit if you stop in Kuşadası. The scale of this outdoor museum has to be seen in person. Knowing that only about half has been excavated makes a future visit even more tempting.

Part of Ephesus Ancient City, this particular ruin is probably the most impressive due to it's size. As you walk down what used to be central street, it already looks amazing but as you get up close and you have the chance to walk inside, you realize the absolute awesomeness of what was built.

This is located at one end of the ruins of city of Ephesus. The front part of the building still stands today. The wall has holes where the manuscripts were stored. You can visit some parts of this building only. It is definitely the highlight of Ephesus.

Celsus is buried in a crypt beneath the library. It was the third-largest library in the Greco-Roman world behind only those of Alexandria and Pergamum. Believed to have held around 12,000 scrolls. The facade was re-erected by archaeologists between 1970 and 1978.

Honestly one of the highlights of our visit. It was fairly busy and really hot but the views made it worth it. The best place to view the details is from underneath the arch next to it.

Beautiful location. A lot of the structures are intact and well preserved it was difficult to get there without a guide, taxi or tour group, so it can be pricey. The ancient library is a major highlight and they do live reacting of Roman guards. Lots of history. There is a small bathroom and market stand will snacks and food around the midway point of the walk. When we went (end of June) it was 103 degrees F° with no shade. We spent about an hour and a half walking through but needed to leave due to the heat. Would love to walk around more. Important: bring good hiking shoes that grip, the marble floors are polished and slippery. We had hiking boots and sandals and still slipped a few times, but our friends with simple sneakers had to walk very slowly and carefully to avoid falling down.

Believed to be the largest in the ancient world: could host up to 25,000 seated spectators. Initially used for drama, in Roman times gladiatorial combats were also held on its stage. Elton John performed a special, solo concert at the Great Theater on July 17, 2001.

We stayed in Izmir and drove to it. It was roughly an hour to get to it. Very nice site and well preserved.

A must see. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made it easy to visualize how the residents lived. Very advanced facilities such as water pipes, tolet system etc. Make sure you arrive early. When our tour bus left the cars trying to enter was out of sight.

While on a cruise that visited Kusadasi, we originally hesitated to book an excursion to Ephesus Ancient City. Boy, are we glad we did! This was the highlight of the day, and it was just an incredible voyage through time. We booked a private excursion and I cannot recommend it more than a group. Our guide was able to squeeze through larger groups and we had an amazing time with Dahan. Everything is impressive in the Ancient City, from it's size to the incredible technology that was used so far back ago. The city is actually in pretty good condition and it's easy to imagine how people lived. The 3D museum brings everything to life after the visit and it's totally worth the stop. We were left in awe throughout our whole visit, if you are unsure about visiting, I suggest you put your doubts aside and go for it, you won't be disappointed

We highly recommend taking a guided tour here, as every detail here is a treasure trove of history. Even the buried pipes, the stone carvings on the pedestrian walkways, and the collapsed arches hold a treasure trove of history. Without a guide's detailed explanation, it would be easy to miss them all! This ancient city is a must-see for any visitor to Turkey, highly recommended.

I would recommend buying tickets in advance, online is the easiest. You should have good comfortable shoes, especially if it rains. Was all the tours, it gets pretty crowded. Like all places, it's best to go early in the morning. The architecture is beautiful and definitely worth it. The library is the best part. We were here in october and there was a lot of mosquitoes. And just like the rest of the area, there were lots of street dogs.

A must see if you are visiting Turkiye. Walking through Ephesus feels like stepping directly into history. The scale of the ruins is jaw-dropping — from the marble streets to the stunning multi-story Library of Celsus, every corner tells a story that’s over 2,000 years old. The Grand Theatre, with a capacity of 25000, is especially impressive; imagining ancient crowds gathered there gives you chills. The site is well-preserved, well-marked with signs, and easy to navigate. Plan to spend at least 2–3 hours, and if possible, go early to avoid heat and crowds. A guided tour (or audio guide) adds so much depth — otherwise you might miss fascinating details like the ancient water system, shops, and homes with beautiful mosaics. Wear comfortable shoes (lots of walking on uneven stones). Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat. Don’t miss the Terrace Houses — they’re an extra ticket but absolutely worth it.

Ephesus is impressive, important, and absolutely priceless. Yes, the ticket is on the expensive side, but if the money goes toward preserving this place for future generations, I can understand the cost. The Ephesus Experience Museum was a brilliant addition — not only an immersive way to learn the history, but also a perfect break from the heat thanks to the air conditioning. The Library of Celsus was the highlight for me, but I also really enjoyed the Terrace Houses. The Church of the Virgin Mary was an unexpected surprise, and knowing the background of the Third Ecumenical Council — combined with my own theological background — made visiting it even more special. Overall, Ephesus is a must-see and worth every minute spent exploring.

An amazingy historical site that has been very well preserved. You will see statues, columns, an amphitheater, stones with carvings, etc. Don't forhet to look at the Temple of Artemis, which is just next to the ancient city. This is a must see for any visitor to Türkiye. There are restaurants and vendors at the entrance and plenty of parking. You'll pay a small parking fee, but it isn't much and it helps preserve the site. Truly a winner if the world to this day!

Absolutely mind blowing how amazing it is. The amount of artifacts that are still preserved is incredible. We’re on a Viking Mediterranean Sea Cruise & today we docked in Kusadasi, Turkey & drove to the home of the Virgin Mary then down to the northern gates of Ephesus & walked down to the lower gate. Our tour guide, Tahir, was amazing as well. A day my wife & I won’t forget.

One of the best experience I’ve ever had! The safety standards are exceptional — lifeguards everywhere made me feel totally secure. Slides are super fun, especially the long tunnel ones with rafts. The park is huge and has something for everyone, whether you’re chasing adrenaline or just relaxing. Even the restrooms were shockingly clean and well-designed. Fast service, delicious food — truly beyond expectations. 5 stars, no question!

Definitely worth a visit. Lots of slides and pools to use and felt like there was a lot of space. No long queues and this was peak season, the longest time we waited was 5mins. The food and drink prices are very reasonable and all the staff spoke English and were very friendly. Facilities such as toilets and changing rooms very clean and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The only small complaint was that it’s all up hill so there is some stairs to climb for the slides which was tiring but overall this did not ruin any of our fun and the views were worth the climb. Just to note the pools are salt watered and the dolphin park is not part of the price of adaland so if you want to visit the dolphin park you will need to pay extra.

Absolutely blown away by the whole experience! The food portions were way bigger than expected — generous and delicious. The entire place was spotless, I was honestly surprised by how clean everything was. But what really stood out was the staff: incredibly kind, energetic, and professional. Their way of speaking and helping made the whole visit feel premium. Easily one of the most well-managed parks I’ve ever been to.

We took the family here for half a day in July and had an amazing time. Take caution when riding the rides, they are definitely fun, but you need to be careful.

Fantastic day out !!! On holiday in didim with teenage children, booked trip through a local excursion shop. Water park is immaculately clean, plenty of sun lounges located all over park. Lots of different swimming pools, places to get drinks and food all reasonable priced. All the slides are great fun, we didn’t have to queue for any slides. All had a great day. Best water parked we have been too.

Great place to spend time. Lots of attractions. This park is big and has lots of green areas giving shade. You don't feel crowded and there is no problem finding seats. Beautiful view of the mountains and the sea. The only thing is that they are closing quite early (at 5pm) so definitely worth going in the morning.

Absolutely amazing. We came as a family and had a really good time. The areas for kids are endless and very entertaining for them. And for the adults there is never ending slides and activites. Looks like it has been re-furnished a little too so everywhere was looking very nice and clean. I couldn’t fault them at all. Definitely recommend!

This was such a lovely place to visit. Lots of biblical and ancient history. It’s not as big as some other sites so you wouldn’t need as much time. I enjoyed visiting.

The City of Sardis. The capital of the Lydian empire of 200,000 inhabitants. Had the largest synagogue in Asia Minor and known for its elaborate Bath system and Gymnasium. A place you must see in turkey. This place in one of the seven churches mentioned in the bibile. The letter to the church in Sardis, warns its believers to Wake-up and take their walk with The Lord seriously.

Visited the ruins while on group tour with members of my church. We were amazed with the excavated ruins dating back to the Byzantine and Lydian eras. The gymnasium building and synagogue mosaics were definite highlights.

Simply amazing. I visited here after Metropolis. It was a short ride it only took me 15 minutes and it was worth it. This museum is full of classic cars and bikes. I had only twenty minutes to see everything because it closes at 16:30 but i'd definitely spend two hours just looking at stuff. They charge 300 liras per person which is fair considering the quality of the museum.

A very cool place to visit if you are near Izmir - the cars were awesome and in top condition with technical descriptions attached. Also, an original bat-cycle from the 1966 Batman movie!

This was an unexpected experience but well worth it. Hubby was in car heaven in our trip. Will definitely recommend. Is not on ant main place but if you can drive there is worth the time.

We love car museums, visit them everywhere we travel and I can say that this is one of the best. All items are in perfect condition, shiny as new. The variety is superb! There are 120 year old items, rare cars and old supercars. It you are near Izmir and looking for interesting places, this is the one.

Its a must visit museum if you are a cat lover, the collection focuses on American, European cars and motorcycles, from the late 1800 to some unique 2020s cars. Verities of scaled car models collections. Every thing is well presented, the decorations and atmosphere including the coffee shop of a high luxurious taste I’m an admirer of the owner taste in the museum and hotel God bless him.

It is a good place to have fun, especially if you have children. There are also many slides for adults. The ticket price includes food and drinks. However, we could not eat it. Everything was not tasty. Even the pasta was not cooked properly. The sausages were disgusting and seemed to be made of paper. The burger was also not tasty. You will have fun on the slides, but you will remain hungry.

The location and the sea are wonderful, and there are many enjoyable water slides. However, I am a bit concerned about the safety aspects. The metal platforms and stairs appear rusty, and the columns do not inspire confidence. I believe it would be beneficial to have a third party conduct a thorough inspection to ensure everything is in proper order. The waiting time to enter the slides is quite short, especially when compared to other water parks. Lockers are available on site. There is a snack bar in the aquapark and juice dispensers. While planning your visit here, you should remember that it is a huge area and the distance among the ruins is long. You will have to walk long so, definitely take some water with you. Although there are seats in the shade for resting, you will be walking in the sun most of the time. This is why you may consider visiting it when the sun isn't that strong. P.S. The employee at the entrance wasn't very kind but hopefully, you will meet a more friendly one.

If you’re interested in beautiful walks in nature, history and ancient olive trees, I highly recommend a visit to Teos. You will hardly see any completed structures, you mainly see ruins sprinkled around the site but it is a great outdoor walk for families. It’s not super stroller friendly, while it is possible, I’d leave the stroller in the car. There is a bathroom at the visitor center and there is plenty of parking. Difficult to arrive in public transportation.

Another lovely city of Ionian League. The sad part is there is nothing to see except a little bit of theatre and government building. A lot of ruins and huge olive trees. Easily you can spend 2 hours. Almost all of the ancient city needs restoration here. I wish the government spent some money for this! That’s a huge opportunity for global tourism.

This place is huge. One can find anything from printing service to suits and souvenirs. Of course there are a lot of restaurants and cafes. There is no need to visit every corner of it. Maybe just casually stroll and see where one is lead to.

A great place to walk around. We tried the mussels and rice. They were excellent. We also did the pickle juice which was also excellent. Lots and lots of interesting shops.

Unique bazaar as there is no goods and shops for tourists. Most of famous bazaar in Turkey is full of shops for tourist with expensive price. But here, most of customers are Izmir people. I like this bazaar. Merchants are friendly and kind! Visit here and feel some authentic turkey bazaar vibe!

Kemeralti bazaar is quite a busy place. You can find hundreds of things to buy from there as the prices are reasonably low. Make sure you have enough space in your suitcase before visiting the bazaar because there are too many souvenirs to buy. There are beautiful bags with Turkish embroidery patterns and praying beads and countless teas and coffees. There are numerous cafes to have a quick bite but they are all super busy. This bazaar is a must visit place.

Lovely place! The view is something — for two lira, you can use the super cool binoculars, and the restaurant / bar seems to be owned by the government so prices are rather accessible. The little basket of fried things we ordered was not good, but having a cold beer under the hot Aegean sun overlooking tone water like that is not to be missed. We went down via the stairs and up via the Elevator — one can really understand why it was built 😅

My husband discovered this gem and it became our favourite eating place. We were in Izmir for a wedding and ended up taking the whole wedding party for a meal, which they loved. We love seafood and were in our element, we could not eat enough. We loved that we were able to pick out the fish and know that we were eating fresh food. The fresh crunchy salad was to die for, it is the best salad we have ever had. If this restaurant was down the road from us, we would be eating there a lot. The atmosphere was great, the waiters and the rastaurant owner were fantastic. I rarely write reviews, but on this ocassion, I felt compelled to. Thank you Kordonboyu Balik for making our experience in Turkey memorable! :)

We were looking for a place to eat in Izmir, the owner offered us a table and we went to choose some mezzes, the kitchen suppose to be closed, after choosing the mezzes, they offer us a fish cacerole, we told him that probably will be too much food, he says to us that it was only a plate. So we say ok. When they brought us the food, they brought five mezzes of octopus what we didn't order and we realise we have too much food on the table, we told them if we could not have the fish cacerol and they told us it was too late, so we have to have it, this wast just a plate like they said. It was a big one. At the end of the dinner we have left so much food and we have a very big bill. The cacerole was 7525 liras, the octopus 2650 liras plus everything else what there is not complains about it. The only good thing I can say is that the food was very nice and tasty. A good waitress always should say what to order to the customer and advised properly.

I had a seabream which was a bit dry and salty, but overall it was nice. However, they charged me twice the price they initially told me for the fish. I had explicitly asked for the price beforehand—they showed me the fish and said it was around 300 grams, so approximately TL700–800. I agreed to that. But when the bill came, they charged around TL1,400 for the seabream—double the amount. I complained, and the waiter who misled me claimed it was actually 500 grams. I pointed out that this wasn’t what he had said earlier, but he simply repeated that it was 500 grams and added that he hadn’t weighed it when I asked for the price. “Good” and silly me for trusting him and ending up being charged twice what this “professional” waiter told me when I arrived.

Great food and location. Courteous staff too. Everything was delicious, superb for the price.

We very much enjoyed our dinner at Kordonboyu Balık. The staff was very nice and helpful. We highly recommend bal badem for dessert (see picture). This is normally not the kind of dessert I go for, but was so happy I followed the waiters’ recommendation.

Great place to have dinner at the pier. The service and fish quality are great and the atmosphere is appealing. Your bill will most likely exceed 200 tl for a minimum meal for two people.

When you go to a good restaurant, you trust the waiter when they advise you, here the advice was too order much more food we could eat and of course, on top of that, the more expensive one, so we left paying a fortune and the table full of food we weren't able to finish.

İncirlikoy is a small beach in Karaburun. You reach there by going down on the shore. I visited in May on a windy day and the beach was totally empty, except a sunbathing man. Neither cafe was open. It was quiet.

It is a nice spot to have fun, however, It is not the best place if you are looking for silence and a place to relax, This place is used to be crowded almost every day.

They charge L500 each per return trip or L350 for a one way 3 minute ride. And that’s before paying to enter the Akropolis site. So we walked up (45 min) and down again through the additional places of interest for L0. You’re better to drive, walk or get a taxi.

There is a cable car which takes you to the Acropolis but upstairs you need to pay extra to see the museum. I honestly didnt go up. I stayed down and bonded with a local lady named Elif who was selling the most delicious wild honey so I bought two jars and we just talked.

If you have a car you're better off driving up, same views and you don't have to pay to park at the gondola and then also pay for the gondola itself. There isn't even a parking lot, what are you charging for?

Best way to go up. Buy the Aegean Museum Card is cheaper to visit all the sites Permagon, Red Basilica, Asklepion, Permagon Museum and mach more.

Healing Sanctuary of the Ancient World / The Asclepieion of Pergamon was not only a center for physical healing, but also a symbolic heart of ancient Greco-Roman medical science. Founded in the 4th century BC and flourishing during the Roman period, it was one of the three most famous healing temples of antiquity, alongside Epidaurus and Kos. It functioned as a sacred place where medicine, religion, and ritual came together in harmony. When we visited the site, we were truly amazed by the scale of the sanctuary, especially the tunnel and the sacred water area. The massive columns, the length of the healing tunnel, and the well-preserved water systems reflected how advanced and well-planned this place was. We went as part of a tour towards the end of January and the place was very quiet. It is a beautiful location, steeped in the history of being the first medical healing space in the Western world. We were accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide who explained everything to us. We were lucky to be the only 6 people there and had plenty of time to take a lot of uninterrupted photos. Highly recommended.

Very beautiful and very important archeological site that was once one of the first Asclepeions ever and one of the most important as well, which were the first form of modern-day hospitals. I highly recommend visiting it if you’re in Izmir or its surroundings. (Pics are from July 2021)

The first hospital and treatment center in the history. Wonderful place to see and learn about history. The water that cures people is still running from a little fountain-tap.Museumpasses and museum card is valid. Entrance fee is 35 tl for a person for 2019.

The first thing to know about this museum is that the price at the gate is higher than what is posted on the official website. The website says that the entrance fee is 90 Turkish lira, but upon arrival we were informed that the price was 400 Turkish lira. We were told that we could only pay with a Turkish bank card or with cash. We were surprised and dismayed at the price difference between what was officially posted on the website and what the guards insisted that we pay at the gate. The next thing to know is that the bathroom is located outside of the museum near the cafe. There is no bathroom once you pass through the entry gates. This museum is comprised of both indoor and outdoor exhibits. You will be walking outside so plan to dress appropriately for the weather on the day of your visit. There are steps to navigate to get to the inside parts of the museum. We saw a couple struggling to get a baby stroller down the stone steps, which were uneven. This could be a difficult place to get through if you have physical mobility limitations or if you have a baby stroller. This was an interesting place to visit, but we left disappointed about the discrepancy in the listed entrance fee and what was posted on the official website. It felt like we did not get value for the money we paid.

Great place to visit in Çanakkale. The entrance fee is 400 TL for adults and 200 for students, but it's worth every penny. With the ticket you can visit both a medieval fortress, a submarine 😱, and a ship that was planting mines in WWI. Getting inside a real submarine is quite a rare experience and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

What a perfect conservation of the history. Beautifle expositions and reallistic videos. Strongly recommend to visit this museum. It is full with history about the Ottoman empire and Turkiye Republic. It is a worth to visit it.

Excellent museum with a rich collection. Çimenlik Kalesi that hosts the museum is historically remarkable and impressive. The visit takes about 3 hours including the S338 submarine and Nusret minelayer.

Nice castle, surrounded by old armaments with a lot of history, specialty form the WW1 and the Galipoli battle, You can visita a first war germany submarine, and old ship and the museum itself, full of history about the important battle.

The museum is inside the Ottoman castle, Çimenlik Kalesi, which used to be our destination to spend time by the seaside sitting on a bench in the good old days. Now you get access only by buying a ticket, which is sad. Yet inside the castle, they created a great atmosphere of memories of Canakkale Battle. Inside the castle, you may spend some relaxing time even though you don't like the war stuff, because the castle is really beautiful under the dim yellow light.

We paid 200tl even with museum cards and residence permits. It worth it. It’s not only open air area, you also can go to the castle and learn about its history. However, it’s impossible to go to the top of the castle

Just FYI! These pictures are from the War Museum, which is 4 MINS driving from this specific location, don’t get confused! Not the best indicated, a bit confusing and less information than expected. If you drive to this specific location/building, you will not be able to enter. To go to the War Museum drive further in that road and then turn to the right when you see it indicated.

Beautiful and moving site which gives insight into the history surrounding the founding of the Turkish Republic. One of the most impactful locations on the Gallipoli peninsula.

The size of this park in terms of territory and how the people of Turkey have kept history alive is truly impressive. Moreover, the cleanliness and maintenance of all monuments deserves admiration. Can really meet global criteria. It’s definitely worth the visit but give yourself at least two or three days if you want to see everything. Also beware of turtles! 🐢☺️

Great time spent here. Moment of reflection for the legendaries, braveries and patriotism of a people led by the strong faith in their heart and readiness to sacrifice their lives and souls for the future of only their people but all the marginalised and underprivileged people of the world. This peninsula witnessed a war where all the odds were against the Turks but their faith and bravery won them a legend unequalled anywhere in the history of the world.

It is a great location in the history of WW1 and Turkish history as well. It can be done on a single day from Istanbul. The presence of a good guide I think is essential, since it is difficult to be appraised of the entire history of events or their significance.

I lived in Australia and New Zealand for a few years and Gallipoli is almost a founding myth in those respective countries. It was fascinating to come here and see the place and battle(s) I heard so much about. What was really interesting was also to see it from Ottoman/Turkish perspective. What's amazing about the whole complex is how the winning side the Turks have almost dedicated it to losing side renaming the landing area to Anzac cove etc. I can't think of anywhere else where such a thing has happened. I did a tour which you almost have to do. It's a big site so walking and local buses are not a realistic prospect. It was really hot so bring water and sunscreen but most of all if you have heard of Gallipoli and have any interest in it absolutely worth a visit.

The trip of my life! I wanted to visit the gallipoli peninsula all my life. Now that I got here and I attended a tour program I get to learn all that I wanted to learn first handedly. The weather is good but could be better. So maybe later in May or even June is better timing for the Gallipoli visit. The tour costs only ₺70 per person lunch included.

Beautiful small monastery. Excellent traditional eateries around it. It was a hot day in Plovdiv, but pleasant at the higher elevation at the site. 4 BGN to park right outside the walls and avoid the uphill walk from lower lots. It is probably hard to do this on busy days.

Hi there! We visited this wonderful monastery and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the “Vecernia”(around 6 p.m). Located ~ two hours away from Sofia, it is attracting many pilgrims and it’s worth visiting also for its unique architecture and painting - typical of Eastern Orthodox culture. Bachkovo Monastery has at least two other church buildings in addition to its main one, its own museum and later on we discovered that it preserves a significant ossuary which can be reached in a few hundred meters away from it… So, are you ready to visit one of the oldest monasteries on the Balkan Peninsula, still active (with monks) and the 2nd largest in Bulgaria? :)✌🏻

Beautiful location, would have been 5 stars but the museum and some of the other rooms were still closed at 9:45am and no one was sure what time they were meant to open so didn't get to see everything I'd hoped. Well worth the journey anyway though.

A sanctuary of peacefulness. Some fantastic frescoes. We ate at one of the eateries on the street leading to the monastery which was below average. They all do the same thing and all look the same quality. Recommend eating elsewhere. But the monastery is great.

A nice monastery and the nature around and the fact that in the monastery there are the graves of two people that had a major role in preventing the deportation of Bulgarian Jews during WW2

Beautiful place! This was stunning, and I recommend visiting here highly! It's 8 lev entrance fee per person. Stunning views when on the top. Easy to walk around as hand rails are all around (mostly) - it would feel very exposed without!

If you look at the price and if you look at the potential of this site, I would not buy tickets if there is no event. Amazing location for live music. I'll advice to check shows in advance; then it will be something nice to visit. Just buying tickets and checking the site, it lacks info signs (there is a digital option, not the best quality). You can also perfectly have an idea of this site when walking around it.

The Roman Theatre in Plovdiv is one of the city’s strongest highlights. The hillside setting and the view over the modern city make it especially beautiful around sunset. From November onward it officially closes at 17:30, and when I arrived around 17:00 the lady at the entrance already hesitated to let people in, so timing really matters. If you want the best light and a calm atmosphere, aim for the late-afternoon–sunset window and get there earlier than the posted closing time.

The Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis is honestly one of the coolest places in Plovdiv. It’s huge, well-preserved, and the view from the top is amazing. It feels crazy to stand somewhere that old and still see it in such good condition. Super easy to walk around, take photos, and enjoy the atmosphere. Totally worth visiting.

It is a very beautiful and magnificent architecture. Ladies, be careful. The venue is not suitable for high heels, especially if you are trying to reach from the entrance on the very top of the hill to the scene downloads. There are no railing to hold on to, and the syairs are very high!

Great venue. A bucket list must, see a band play here. Best to select wooden seats rather than stone seats... when with a cushion, they are still warm from the sun earlier in the day.

It is impressive considering it was constructed in the 1st century. I visited it in March 2025. I found they did to accept credit cards and I did not have any Bulgarian Levs. The lady there was so kind that she asked me to go ahead to visit it and pay the next day. I found some $US eventually, and she accepted it.

The place you should see if you visit Plovdiv. Ancient ruins still used for art performances. Full of life place with this spiritual beauty. Don’t skip and take a walk through the stairs and tiny streets covered in stones.

Plovdiv’s Old Town is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric places I’ve visited. The cobblestone streets, colorful Revival-era houses, and hidden courtyards make the whole area feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Every corner has something interesting—museums, galleries, small cafés, and amazing viewpoints over the city. It’s clean, calm, and perfect for walking, even if you’re just exploring without a plan. The architecture is stunning, especially the traditional Bulgarian houses and the Roman theatre. Locals are friendly and there’s plenty of information signs in English too. If you’re in Plovdiv, you simply must visit the Old Town. It’s easily one of the highlights of the city.

It's a wonderful old city, but I definitely recommend avoiding it in hot weather. We think it's best visited in the fall. A stroller isn't comfortable due to the cobblestones. Sneakers are more comfortable. It's a pleasant city to visit.

Definitely worth visiting — it’s the only truly beautiful spot around. Just be careful with your footwear, as the ground is uneven with broken stones and no flat surfaces. Free entrance.

I had a wonderful experience visiting this place and saw the culture of a civilization that existed many years ago! What they discovered and what they have done to survive.

This is the most fascinating ancient structure that I visited in Plovdiv. I visited the place on an afternoon when it was about to close, so the employee offered me a private 3-D film viewing. The movie recreates the competitions at the stadium almost two thousand years ago. A part of it is underneath a store, so you have to enter it through a store.

It's a pity that the city has built roads and shops above the stadium and you can only see a piece of such an ancient Byzantine gem. The most outrageous thing is that there is also a bar located in the centre of the stadium.

Definitely worth a visit. Well, it's an absolute must-see if you're in Plovdiv

Many visitors confuse Plovdiv’s Roman sites, mixing up the theatre, the forum and the stadium, but this location is the Roman Stadium and the preserved section of it. Most of the original structure lies under the modern city center, so only part of it is visible today. Still, the way the city has integrated the remains into the urban space is genuinely impressive. You get a clear sense of the scale, and it’s easy to imagine how the full stadium once looked. The site is free to visit, and for 6 leva you can watch a short 20-minute film that explains the history and the excavation work. It’s a simple but effective way to understand the place better. Overall, a well-presented piece of Roman heritage right in the middle of Plovdiv.

A buried stadium that only has a small portion of it excavated, but the rest are still buried, because the city of Plovdiv has been built on top of it. Amazing!

The place is really up in the mountains so it could get quite cold. Even in hottest days the temperature there is bearable. The best thing is that those guys are doing this to save the bears and they have done an awesome job in finding the perfect place. It was also really nice seeing the bears from so close.

Very pleasant place! The road is ok, the staff is friendly and talkative, the park is well organized, clean and easy to get around. Tours are also organized every 30-40min with a guide and explanation. It is worth visited.

The bears look well. The tour is pretty short - about 40 min and you're back at the entrance. The walk is steep downhill and then back uphill, fortunately all the tour is under tree's shade, so it's not too hot, but it is an effort for those like me, who aren't in shape.

It is great to see the hard work that the foundation is doing for the bears. The tour took around 40 mins. You cannot walk freely in the park, which is the best for the animals. Our guide was very nice and humble.

Rila National Park and Musala Peak represent a perfect combination of natural beauty, biodiversity and mountain challenge. For nature lovers it offers peace and endless expanses of greenery and glacial lakes; for climbers, the highest peak of the Balkans as a prestigious achievement. This park is a destination that remained in my memory as a journey to the peak of Balkan nature.

282 species of mosses made me come here and I'm not disappointed. The skilift makes it way easier, but it is also possible to walk up yourself. (And it will safe you the money and the waiting) Still worth it to take the ski lift option. It's easy to find parking spots. There are some food and drinking options "upstairs". Good amount of high quality information in different parts of the hike. For me one of the high lights of Bulgaria!

The park is very beautiful especially if you go for a hike during the autumn. Fresh air, stunning views on the way and bright colors all around!

It's the most beautiful place in Bulgaria. LOCAL GUIDE IMPORTANT TIPS: 1. Don't go without warm clothes. It is mountain (2000 m altitude) and the weather changes very fast even if it's looks warm and nice. 2. Take cash money to pay the lift ticket. Tehy don't have card payment 3. You can't see the lakes from the hut. After you take the lift, you have to walk up at least 40 min to see the first three lakes. 4. The sixth and seventh lakes can be seen from the end of June to December. In other months it is dangerous to go there without special equipment. 5. In winter, you can't see the lakes because they're covered with meters of snow. 6. Go there only with trekking shoes. Don't go there with flip flops, sandals, and moccasin. 7. Check the weather before you go!!! 8. Don't go there in August it is crowded.

Incredibly beautiful spiritual site, highly recommended visiting if you’re in the area and can easily make a day trip out of it from Sofia! So much history in this site, the Monastery is free to enter but I would recommend a guided tour for a rich experience.

Beautiful Monastery and beautiful surrounding. The road from Rila to Monastery was magical as forest around this Autumn was like fairy tale. It was on and off rain so not many tourists came (perfect!). You are not allowed to take photos inside the church and walk into the residential area. Entry is free (not sure about museum as I didn’t get in)

Best place to bei. Spiritual and cultural Highlight placed in magical mountain scenery. Parking ahead with a few Meters walkway possible free of Charge. Highly recommend. If you avoid peaktime, than It ist more relaxing. Full around noon.

Parking and access are straightforward, and there are small shops nearby with local treats and souvenirs. A must-visit if you’re in Bulgaria—both for its history and its serene atmosphere.

Rila Monastery is about a 1.5-hour drive from Sofia, nestled deep in the mountains. It’s best to go by car — the road is easy and takes you through stunning scenery. Plan to spend around two hours at the monastery itself, plus extra time to explore the surrounding area. The complex is breathtaking — beautifully preserved and full of history. Don’t miss the small museum and the icon exhibition next to it. From the courtyard, the colorful buildings set against the mountain backdrop are truly spectacular. Behind the monastery, you’ll also find a restaurant and a few souvenir shops. It’s worth arriving early — I got there around 10 a.m., when it was still peaceful, but by 11:30 the tour buses start to arrive and it gets crowded.

Really beautiful monastery. Wonderful endless murals right outside of the church. Free to enter (didn't try to visit the museum) You need to pay for the parking lot, 5 leva (~2.5 euro). The road to reach it was very nice, some parts alongside the river, made a great photo stop as well

This is an impressive landmark located right in the city center. The architecture is elegant and stately, reflecting the country’s history and governance. You can witness the ceremonial changing of the guards at the entrance, which happens every hour and is worth watching. While visitors can’t enter the building itself, the area around it is lively, with several historic and government buildings nearby.

יש החלפת משמרות כל שעה, פרט לימים שבת וראשון. The official office of the Bulgarian President is housed in this building and therefore the building's honor guard and the guard exchange ceremony, which takes place every hour and can be viewed free of charge (except Saturdays and Sundays). At the entrance to the building are two armed soldiers, dressed in ceremonial uniforms from the 19th century, including a hat with a feather and rifles from this period. The ceremony lasts for five minutes! There are four soldiers who are replacing two who are standing outside, with whom they can also be photographed, if they arrive before the shift begins, and there are two more who are inside the president's house. It is recommended to arrive a few minutes before a round hour.

Cool to see the guards on duty in their cream uniforms. If you arrive at the right time then you can watch the changing of the guard. The building itsf is large but a little non-descript.
