Plitvice Lakes National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a stunning destination in the heart of Croatia, known for its picturesque lakes, alpine forests, waterfalls, and caves. It's an ideal place for romantic getaways or family adventures. Couples can enjoy enchanting lookouts, romantic walks along the trails with the soothing sounds of waterfalls, and a stay at Jezero Hotel followed by a romantic dinner at Licka Kuca restaurant.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of pure, awe-inspiring beauty. The 16 lakes, connected by countless waterfalls and cascades in stunning turquoise-blue hues, are a true paradise. Walking on the wooden boardwalks allows you to get close to the water, feel the mist of the falls and see almost to the bottom of the lakes. It's an absolute must-do for any nature lover. Important points on the trails and walking conditions: The park offers a variety of routes (like C, H, F, E etc.) that combine walking, a boat ride on Lake Kozjak, and use of a shuttle. Most of the walking paths and boardwalks are very narrow, slippery, and sometimes uneven, and the park gets extremely crowded, therefore in my opinion the trails are not suitable for baby strollers or wheelchairs, also - access is difficult for people with walking difficulties or seniors who require stability. Recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip. Tickets: Recommended to book tickets online in advance for a specific time slot and entrance (1 or 2), as the daily visitor capacity is limited and tickets sell out quickly. It's best to arrive as early as possible (right at opening time) to avoid the biggest crowds. Paid parking is available at both entrances (make sure to park at the entrance for which you bought your ticket). Along the paths, there are several rest points with WCs and some places to buy food, but it's a bit pricey, so you can bring some water, sandwiches, or snacks. In summary, this is an amazing natural wonder that is worth every effort.

Wow! Fantastic experience! You could easily spend the whole day at the park. There are number of trails leading around the lakes and under the waterfalls. Every part of it looks do beautiful. The water is extremely clean and the colours vary from light blue to turquoise green. It’s a must go destination in Croatia
Alice K — Google review
Absolutely stunning nature, I felt like I was wandering through the loveliest dream. Aside from the obvious, the forest itself is incredibly beautiful, soft, nurturing, with ivy covered trees, moss adorned rocks, and colorful leaves blanketing the forest floor. I highly recommend coming in mid to late October for the fall foliage, it imbues a mystical quality to this already enchanted place.
Chantal L — Google review
Very beautiful park and easy to access. We was lucky to get 2 versions of the scenery. We came late on day 1 (17 Nov), so we decided to revisit in the next day. There was significant snow and the scenery had changed. Although we couldn't go to your lakes due to the weather, the scenery in lower lakes was fantastic.
Gahwin R — Google review
Such a beautiful serene environment, walking on the trails did get a bit busy at times but once you're in its amazing to see little pockets of natural beauty, clear waters, different varieties of fish, plants and many jaw dropping waterfalls, too many to count. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Croatia.
A W — Google review
This park is really fantastic. We were here for two days. Walked about 30 km. Some areas quite busy (great waterfall). If possible i recommend an early start to avoid the tourists coming in by busloads. The lakes are great and everything is remarkably clean. We had a great time, highlight of our trip to Croatia.
M.pepers — Google review
It's no wonder the Plitvice Lakes are called Croatia's main attraction. It's a vast and incredibly beautiful national park. We visited in the summer, so everything was blooming and green. The park's highlight is the many waterfalls it has. Here, the waterfalls resemble delicate lace, an exquisite interplay of streams and intertwining water flows - there waterfalls upon waterfalls. If you're in Croatia, don't miss the opportunity to admire this spectacle! Some of the hiking trails will easily last a few hours, so prepare to spend a full day here.
Mat B — Google review
Great planning in the national park, with bus and boat inclusive with the ticket which is unbelievable at this kind of world-famous tourist spot. Experienced route H, spent around 5 hours and quite easy to walk, thanks for the bus taking us uphill and start at the top with over 80% of the journey are downhill. Fall season should be promoted more, the view is amazing, weather is comfortable but obviously there are not many visitors during Oct.

Bear Sanctuary, Kuterevo

Wildlife rescue service
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Nestled in the northern Velebit mountains, Bear Sanctuary, Kuterevo is a haven for orphaned bears undergoing rehabilitation. The sanctuary, sustained by donations for over 20 years, offers a hippy commune vibe and ample free parking. Visitors can observe nine well-cared-for bears in spacious enclosures while enjoying the picturesque surroundings of the small village. Run entirely by volunteers, the sanctuary provides educational information and offers locally made products like jam, honey, cheese, and vegetables.
You don't have to be a bear fanatic like my partner to appreciate the fantastic work the lovely volunteers do to improve the lives of these majestic beasts. Anyone travelling down from northern Croatia to the Split area should pay a cost to support the work this charity does.
Howard T — Google review
Adored our time at the Kuterevo Bear Sanctuary. The sanctuary is free to visit but please bring cash to donate!!! As a bear lover, it was amazing to see the beautiful bears in enclosures full of trees, bushes, and ponds to emulate their natural habitat. With a bit of patience and by exploring the various enclosures, we saw 4 bears. The drive to the sanctuary is long and winding but seeing the Croatian countryside was nice.
Claire — Google review
We drove here on the way back from Plitvice Lakes and we had the most amazing time - definately worth a visit and a generous donation. The whole sanctuary is funded by the owners pension + donations! Highly recommend!
Millie — Google review
What a wonderful community run place of sanctuary for orphan bears. Well kept and loved in as marvellous a setting as possible. We had a lovely time and even got to share feeding time for the adult bears..
Sara B — Google review
We went mid-day so most bears were somewear in the shade as it was super hot that day, but we still got to see a couple. Its a free to visit sactuary, but you can buy things in the giftshop or donate via PayPal - we bought small wooden bear statues. Would recommend to visit if you are in the region. They also have some birds to see.
Gabija A — Google review
Well worth a visit. I am always wary of "animal sanctuaries" but this is genuine and is 100% about the animals. We arrived in the heat of the day so initially didn't see much but returned after some food at the wonderful local hotel / restaurant Butina up the road when it had cooled a little. We then had the privilege of seeing the three younger bears emerge from their shady areas. It has a great vibe and friendly, welcoming volunteers. No entry fee but of course donations encouraged.
Caroline P — Google review
Fantastic experience for the whole family. We drove here from Plitvice. We stayed for about 1.5 hours (as we were also waiting for the feeding) TIPS for a more enjoyable experience. - go during feeding time. Evening one is at 5pm. We only saw one of the bears outside of the feeding. - it is free, but do buy yourself a souvenir to support them. Bring cash - the place is not wheelchair or stroller friendly, so plan accordingly
Clement Y — Google review
A little off the beaten path, but well worth the effort to visit. We saw 6 different bears in the habitat. It,was almost like seeing them in their home forest. They looked very healthy and well taken care of. We watched as two of the teenage bears wrestled, it was fun to watch them have fun. Our visit was the highlight of our day.

B&B Lower Lakes

Bed & breakfast
Nature & Parks
B&B Lower Lakes is a part of the stunning Plitvice Lakes National Park, which is known for its breathtaking natural beauty and numerous lakes. The park is vast, covering much more than just the 16 lakes it's famous for. Visitors can choose between flexible programs to explore the Upper and Lower Lakes, with two main entrances providing access to different sections of the park.
Remember the place, great service, and good rooms. Placed two minutes from the entering of Plitvice park, do not need a car to enter. Great breakfast. We loved it and recommended everyone to come and enjoy it. Thank you, Milica and Nicolas, the stay here was amazing because of your great service.
Ronit N — Google review
This beautiful hotel was very comfortable and easy to find. Check in was a breeze and the room was amazing. We had a wonderful balcony to sit on. The property also has a lot of outside sitting and a few swings. There is free parking on the property and they allowed us to leave our car there while we hiked in the park. The 3rd entrance to the park is a 5 Min walk away and very convenient. We were able to go the opposite way of most people visiting and had zero wait for the boat at the end of the day since everyone is heading the other way.

Location, location! This is an amazing place to stay with so many perks. The entrance to Plitvice Park is just a short walk away, and there are a couple of really nice restaurants within walking distance. Our host, Mirjana, was wonderful. Even though we arrived late, she was there to greet us and help us get settled. She asked what time we’d like breakfast, and had everything prepared and ready earlier than scheduled. The breakfast spread was incredible—so many options, including cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, jams, breads, and coffee. On top of that, she made us delicious eggs every morning. The room was spotless, and we had a beautiful balcony overlooking the backyard. It was the perfect spot to enjoy the fresh air, complete with Adirondack chairs, a swing, and tables. Parking was free and right at B&B. We couldn’t have asked for more. We would absolutely stay here again, and I can’t wait to recommend it to my friends and family.
Crystal G — Google review
Everything was absolutely excellent. The room was super big and had everything you need. Cleaning 10+++. A lot of attention to details, you could tell the accommodation was carefully and tastefully designed. The host was incredibly nice and she makes the best pancakes and scrambled eggs. So you can probably tell we also loved the breakfast. :) For the Park, you can buy online any Entrance ticket and the hour doesn't matter that much. There is an unofficial entrance very close by, where the Park staff will scan your tickets. We visited in September, but I recommend you to eat your morning breakfast, then grab some snacks for the rest of the day. There are very limited options on the resting areas on the routes. For dinner, we highly recommend to avoid the restaurants nearby the accommodation, take the car and drive for 15 minutes to Restaurant Degenija - better prices and much better quality food. I really hope all accommodations were like this. 💚
Ana-Maria R — Google review
A friendly and relaxing accommodation amidst the park with clean and pleasant rooms, free WiFi, free parking, breakfast, freshly cooked dinner and more. Just three minutes walking from the park entrance. Everything is lovingly attended to by host Milica who makes you feel welcome from the very first moment and is a great help for planning your visit to the park as well. For my next visit, I will definitely come back here!
Paul K — Google review
Excellent location, walking distance from the park. Clean, spacious and fairly new rooms. Nice breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff, special thanks to Milica at the reception.
Amy — Google review
Modern, new and clean rooms. Amazing outdoor area. Very helpful and friendly staff who can help you with buying tickets and give you tips on what to see or where to eat in the area. If you are looking for a quiet place in Plitvice, this is the best place. The accommodation is approx. 400-500 meters from the unofficial entrance to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. However, you can only use this entrance with a valid ticket, which you must purchase in advance (24 hours) on the Plitvice Lakes website. We spent in this place 3 wonderful nights and had enough time to explore Plitvice lakes and taste local food
Anna Š — Google review
Milica Rapaic was a perfect host for such a cute and picturesque B&B in the great mountains of the Plitvica!! With the help of Milica, she help planned my proposal here :) She gave secret tips of the best view points that only the locals know! She and the team exceeded expectations and made us feel very warm and welcomed. We could not highly recommend the B&B (my fiancée mentioned it was the best shower she ever used!) and a special thank you from us in making our stay, a perfect night to remember for the rest of our lives! Great Waterfall

Mentioned on
17 lists
Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Great Waterfall, also known as Veliki Slap, is a stunning natural wonder located within a national park in Croatia. Standing at an impressive 78 meters tall, it is the highest waterfall in the country and offers breathtaking views. The surrounding area features picturesque picnicking spots and a viewing platform to take in the beauty of the cascading water. Visitors can also explore the Sastavci waterfalls, which create a dramatic scene as they appear to be an extension of Great Waterfall.
This is the tallest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes National Park, measuring approximately 78 meters in height. It is a single-drop waterfall, cascading straight down from a high cliff in a dramatic and powerful flow. The sight of the water plunging in a single stream is truly awe-inspiring. In spring and after rainfall, the volume of water increases, creating an even more impressive spectacle. During winter, the frozen form offers a completely different yet equally stunning view. Visiting early in the morning rewards you with a magical atmosphere, as mist and sunlight create a dreamlike setting. It is the closest major attraction to Ticket Office 1, and certain trail routes allow you to reach a viewpoint right at the base of the waterfall.

Beautiful nature. We did circuit C and it took us 4 hours, moderately difficult terrain. The boat trip was also great. There are toilets and refreshment stands at the stations. Nice people everywhere.

The "Great Waterfall" in Croatia is called Veliki Slap and is the largest waterfall in Plitvice Lakes National Park. It has a height of 78 meters and is fed by the Plitvica River. What a magnificent view!
Mat B — Google review
The big waterfall looks perfect. If you are lucky, your impression will be completed by the small drops carried by the gentle wind from the waterfall that fall on the tourists. The impression would be better if there weren't so many tourists in this place, but I can understand why people stay here.
King S — Google review
Dreamy, full-on nature immersive! Only downside: wooden path is very narrow plus at water level, so u can't enjoy the waterfall in absolute peace - making space for people passing all the time & the anxiety of your belongings (phone etc) falling in the lakes.
Romy X — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous and an amazing experience to be here. This is the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park – 78 meters high situated at the very end of the Lower Lakes. It is fed by the waters of the Plitvica Potok River. Considered as the most beautiful one on the Lakes, this waterfall is also the highest one in the whole of Croatia. A must visit site, when in Croatia.

Samobor Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Medieval fortress on a forested hilltop overlooking Samobor town & surrounding peaks.
A very unique experience, the walk from samobor leading up to the trail is amazing, we started the trail without any water so we were a bit nervous at one point, but it’s a short walk and it’s very cool to see a ruin without any crowd, fun fact: Jackie Chan shoot a scene here and he almost died.
Kevin Y — Google review
The place is abonded and it is dangerus and difficult to climb. Should be treated better cause if m meaintened it would be a very historical and nice place to visit while in croatia
Jacob C — Google review
It took us about 20 minutes to get to from the centre of Samobor. The walk was nice through nice park and the forest . The castel is very big. I found it incredible the way the castle was man-built without so much technology in that time of history. PS. No tickets required, it’s free to enter.
J. — Google review
The ruins are interesting, have significant history since the medevial times. Once you up there, there is a magnificent view over surroundings of Samobor. It is spaciuos and you can walk from one part to another easily. However, you need to be very careful as there are lot high stone walls in pretty bad condition which parts could easily fall off. Another thing that worries is the lack of signage on the paths which are also undermaintained. All in all, this resurse could offer much more in comparison from what offers at the moment. As first, a bathroom.
Stjepan K — Google review
The experience of having total freedom to find and explore every part of the castle and it's surrounding forest, is amazing! It feels authentic and unique. Having said that, visiting with kids felf a bit unsafe from time to time , especially when we were climbing up to the castle - somehow we were sure that the only way in was from directly below it, where you look up and actually see the ruins above you (well, not somehow, it was where google maps led us.) Only on the way back we noticed people coming via path that was longer, yet safer, and used it to walk back down, ending up in the center of Samobor.
Leah G — Google review
A must-visit gem near Zagreb! The Samobor Castle ruins and the Gothic Chapel of St. Ana are absolutely enchanting. The short 15-minute hike from Samobor’s town square is easy and scenic, leading to breathtaking views of the town and surrounding hills. The 13th-century castle walls and the 16th-century St. Ana Chapel, with its charming Gothic arches, ooze history and atmosphere. Perfect for history lovers and photographers
Laurence H — Google review
I'm sure it's lovely at the top but please note that it cannot be reached by car and the route up is incredibly steep by foot with full leg bends and extension. Would recommend for those confident in their hiking/climbing ability but not for families or groups with less confident hikers.

The Museum of Broken Relationships, located in a baroque palace, showcases personal items from past relationships along with brief synopses. It is a popular tourist attraction and features donated items with humorous descriptions available in multiple languages through QR codes and printed books. Visitors can also contribute their own relationship mementos to enrich the museum's collection. The museum has been recognized for its innovation by receiving the Kenneth Hudson Prize from the European Museum Forum.
An amazing museum. The stories really cut through. Some of them were funny but a lot of them were emotional and really touching. It certainly brings back memories and/or a way to feel things buried deep. Such a beautiful idea and the contributions were just superb. The staff were just lovely too! Well done all!!

A must-go museum that displays an array of relics of lost and broken love. Reading various related stories was so interesting, and I had a very impressive time there. The clerks inside were so kind, and they had a decent souvenir shop and an inside café to chill myself after passing through a lot of heartbreaking stories. If I could, I would rate this place 6 out of 5 stars.
Garam L — Google review
A must see! A unique museum collection containing various items “of one’s affection” that at some point required dismissal for resolution. Donor’s also offer a vignette of the relationship behind the objects. Decide for yourself, if and where you fit into these stories , and have a cathartic experience for a few hours. There are 5-6 small rooms , lots of interesting readings that require 1-2 hours of your time. Clever idea to put together this collection. One that will keep growing as long as humanity is involved!

Wonderful little museum filled with mementos and poignant stories about the people, things, events and places that we fall in love with and have to let go. If you enjoy stories about being human and want to experience a different kind of museum filled with humanity then you must go. I thoroughly enjoyed! Spent about 1-1.5 hours there. Nice, comfortable cafe attached. This is in historic old town or upper town

Based off the name of this museum, you’d expect it to be rather depressing… and it kinda is, but in a touching way. Genuine stories, genuine heartbreak, real people. It’s a Museum of Broken Relationships, as the name implies… but, of all kinds of broken relationships, some of which will give you a laugh. Some of which… don’t. I bought my tickets in advance, but when I got there it was rather empty (I went October 1), so it was very easy. I have heard it can get quite busy though, which is why I got tickets in advance. Don’t skip this.
Taylor B — Google review
I really liked it and I think it is a must see if you are in Zagreb! You have to do a lot of reading but it is worth it. The stories are as different as the objects and whats very cool - they are from around the world. Some you may like, some may bore you, some may leave something to think about. This is a bit different kind of museum as we are used to but thats another beauty of it🥰
Signe H — Google review
We came here as we'd heard of it as a must see and unique tourist attraction, as well as the fact that it was open quite late in the night when we had some free time. The entry fee was €7 per adult and overall, I was very disappointed. The museum is only made up of about 5 or so rooms with mementos from past relationships, each with a note detailing the backstory of the piece. None of the items themselves are really that interesting, and you'd have to do a lot of reading about each item to understand the meaning behind them. However, most of the stories are just average break up stories and I didn't feel emotionally engaged by any of them. The most interesting part for me was reading the guest book at the back with some pretty funny comments on there. If it was a free museum then I would say go there since it's a very unique concept so it could be interesting. But paying €7 to look at some objects from broken relationships, it's not really worth it.
Ai — Google review
Gotta be honest, I was expecting some sort of tourist trap. Hell I was wrong!!! Despite its small size, this is one of the most interesting and engaging museums you'll ever visit. Each object tells such a compelling and vivid story of heartbreak that transports you to the heartbreaks you've experienced in your life. Some of the stories here are funny, some are sad, some are devastating (one in particular made me cry a lot!).

Saint Mark’s Church

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
Saint Mark’s Church is a monumental Catholic church in Zagreb, constructed in the 13th century and located in St. Mark's Square. The church features a medieval-style architecture with a Baroque bell tower added in the 17th century. Its most recognizable feature is the colorfully tiled roof depicting the city's emblem and Croatian coat of arms, making it a popular spot for history enthusiasts and photographers alike.
Unfortunately it’s close at the moment so you can only see it from outside or the best view of the roof you can take it from the Lotrscak Tower. If you go during the weekend in the summer from 5 to 8pm you can see few people dressed with the old time fashion.
Gloria S — Google review
St. Mark's Church dates back to 13 cent and is located on top of the upper town on the same name square housing the Croatian parliament next door. Most distinctive and eye catching feature are the Croatian and Zagreb coat of arms on its roof. Unfortunately the Church is closed currently for renovations.
Dejan B — Google review
Saint Mark’s Church in Zagreb’s Upper Town is a stunning sight, even from the outside. Its colorful tiled roof with Croatia’s and Zagreb’s coats of arms is unique and eye-catching. The Gothic portal looks impressive, but you can’t get too close due to barriers. It’s a bit disappointing it’s closed for repairs, but still worth seeing. The square around it feels historic and lively despite the restrictions.
Ramdas P — Google review
1 | St. Mark’s Church in Zagreb dates back to the 13th century, making it one of the city’s oldest architectural monuments. It is easily recognized by its vividly tiled roof, which displays the coats of arms of the medieval Triune Kingdom of Croatia‑Slavonia‑Dalmatia and the City of Zagreb. 2 | The church roof is very photogenic, and the site is worth a visit. During our stay in Zagreb in July 2025, the church was under renovation, and construction container towers were set up in front of it. The interior couldn't be visited, and it was nearly impossible to take a decent photo of the church.
Petr N — Google review
St. Mark’s Church, located in Zagreb’s historic Upper Town (Gornji Grad), is one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, largely due to its striking tiled roof. This colorful roof features two coats of arms made from glazed ceramic tiles. On the left side is the emblem of the former Kingdom of Croatia, Slavonia, and Dalmatia, representing the union of these historical regions. It combines a red-and-white checkerboard for Croatia, three lion heads for Dalmatia, and a marten running across a field with a star above for Slavonia. On the right side of the roof is the coat of arms of the city of Zagreb. It shows a white, three-towered city gate on a blue background, symbolizing openness and protection, with a golden six-pointed star and crescent moon above it. The roof was added during a major restoration in the late 19th century, reflecting both national pride and the Gothic revival style of the time. Today, it serves not only as a beautiful architectural feature but also as a meaningful symbol of Croatia’s history and Zagreb’s civic identity. The church is currently closed. Croatia's main political activities (Parliament) is also located on St Mark's Square.
KloudManc — Google review
Clean, quiet, colourful roof stands out beautifully against the autumn blue sky. Go around to view it from the back also.
Bren K — Google review
Saint Mark’s Church uniquely colourful tiled roof makes it a Zagreb icon! Also, it is one of the oldest buildings in the city dating from the 13th century. Depending on the time or day, this section of the main square is bordered off by security due to government meetings so you may not get to see inside the church!

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of Zagreb is a grand Roman Catholic edifice that underwent restoration in the 1990s. It hosts concerts like The Organs of the Zagreb Cathedral and Evenings on Gric cycle. The cathedral is a significant part of Zagreb's iconic buildings, along with other landmarks such as Croatian National Theatre and St. Mark's Church.
It is a great piece of architecture just 100 meters from main square. Inside it is very beautiful. It has a small connection with Las Vegas. A Croatian owner of a casino in Las Vegas had gifted them 3 chandeliers which are prominently displayed though they look little out of place. The atmosphere inside was very calm and soothing. It is better to see with a guide who can explain the great historical background. Worth seeing !!
Balkrishna S — Google review
The cathedral has been under renovation for a few years now, but it still is a pleasant sight to see. Under renovation means no access to the inside as well; was gated off for the majority of the time. It is the second tallest building in Croatia and the most monumental sacral building of Gothic architecture southeast of the Alps.
Mat B — Google review
Looks interesting from the outside, but it's temporarily closed (due to further renovations?). There are some old Medieval-looking city walls and fortifiations right next to the cathedral, but those are also inaccessible (at least from the sides nearest the cathedral) due to the work being done.
Karyn — Google review
It's unfortunate that this cathedral is being renovated and temporarily closed barricaded with scaffolding. This renovation seems forever. At the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, gold sculpture is there to behold.
Jun H — Google review
It was closed for renovation during my visit, but the massive artistic structure looked very impressive from the outside.
Deepak P — Google review
What I could see of it was nice but both towers were covered in construction unfortunately. Had hoped it would be less since in most photos only part of one tower was covered but oh well
Cornelia D — Google review
It’s amazing architecture, especially during Christmas they have market at night . Various kinds of food stall , my favourite no-alcoholic tea and sweets are served. Even at-10*c, this place is buzzing and lots of things to do. Cathedral itself a nice place to visit but it has been years that they started renovating. However, it hasn’t finished. Hopefully they will finish soon.
Lincoln I — Google review
The cathedral is located in the center of Zagreb. From the very beginning, its size catches the eye. Additionally, it has interesting decorations. It makes a huge impression in real life. Unfortunately, I could not see it in its entirety, because it was under renovation. Nevertheless, I recommend seeing it!

Mirogoj cemetery

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Mirogoj cemetery, located on a hillside north of downtown Zagreb, is a renowned burial ground designed by architect Hermann Bolle. Opened in 1872, it boasts an impressive entrance with a long brick wall topped by green cupolas. The parklike cemetery features paths lined with horse chestnut trees and black marble graves, serving as the final resting place for individuals of various faiths including Roman Catholic, Serbian Orthodox, Jewish, and Muslim.
walked for an hour from central Zagreb. It’s full of stories & memories for Croatians for 3 Centuries. Unfortunately many parts are under renovation & closed. It is still grand & solemn. there are grand graves for rich families for 5-6 generations. But also neglected small unknown graves. God bless their souls.
Connie W — Google review
We were surprised when our guide Ante told us that he is taking us to a cemetery to see it. When we reached there then we realised it is much more than a cemetery. The entrance was beautiful and so was the inside with excellent arcades, sculptures and garden, It had a lot of history behind it which was explained to us. It was built by famous architect Hermann Bolle The people of different religions like Christians, Muslims and Jews were buried there. The local people come here just to use beautiful garden. We were surprised when told that rich people buy their grave place here well in advance and it is expensive.
Balkrishna S — Google review
Visiting Mirogoj Cemetery felt more like a stroll through a serene sculpture park than a traditional burial ground. The arcades designed by Hermann Bollé are simply breathtaking—graceful arches, ivy-covered facades, and dignified mausoleums that reflect both sorrow and beauty. Despite some areas still showing damage from past earthquakes, the atmosphere remains profoundly tranquil. This place isn’t just architecturally stunning; it’s a cultural treasure trove, housing the graves of some of Croatia’s most notable figures. Paths lined with horse chestnut trees add a poetic charm, making it a contemplative escape from the bustle of downtown Zagreb. Tip: Don't attempt to walk from the Old Town—it’s a pretty steep hike! Public transport, especially buses 106 or 226, make the trip much easier. Whether you're a history buff, an architecture lover, or just someone seeking quiet reflection, Mirogoj is a must-see.
Laurence H — Google review
Beautiful cemetery, great place for a peaceful walk. Very calm and quiet for a longer visit in Zagreb.
See Z — Google review
Mirogoj Cemetery is a huge and beautiful place, even from the outside. The green domes and ivy-covered walls look amazing, despite repair barriers. It feels peaceful with lots of trees and history. You can’t enter the arcades due to earthquake damage, but it’s still worth seeing. A short bus ride from the city makes it easy to visit.
Ramdas P — Google review
The Monumental Cemetery Mirogoj is a cemetery park that is considered to be among the more noteworthy landmarks in the City of Zagreb. It is a Member of ASCE and part of European Cemeteries Route. Mirogoj is considered a very significant cemetery for landscape, as an art gallery and as a book of Croatian history. An easy tram hop from the city centre, the beautiful tree-lined cemetery of Mirogoj is a rarely visited attraction. Founded in 1876 and designed by Hermann Bollé, few visitors reach Mirogoj, but those who do discover an expansive space filled with excellent sculptures and tiled arcades. The grounds of Mirogoj provide a peaceful retreat from the city center. The sheer size of the place means you rarely bump into another person; the only sounds you hear are bird song and the wind rustling the trees. Considered one of the best landmarks of the city and, some claim, one of the most magnificent cemeteries in Europe where over 300,000 souls are buried.
C C — Google review
I walked here from the city centre. It is not as impressive as some Italian cemeteries (like Bologna or Verona) but still very nice. I was dissapointed that the arcades were not accessible due to constructions works (hapenning all over the city by that time).
Robert H — Google review
It really is just a cemetery. The gorgeous view is only the gates (?) enclosing the cemetery. No entrances fee, and nice for a quick visit.

Very nice outlet, good prices, a bit far from the city, but definitely worth going to..
Shereif W — Google review
Driving back to Slovenia, we stopped to see the Roses Designer Outlet. It’s a beautiful place, clean and love the colors on the buildings but it has very little stores left. The ones that were opened had great deals on. Bought a super cute top from S. Oliver. It did have a small seating area restaurant open, which was nice. Great place to let the kids run around and burn off some energy!! Since it’s so empty. Open 7 days a week including the weekend from 10am to 8pm. They did have beautiful roses growing everywhere.

The place is beautiful and clean - great.. BUT this is supposed to be an OUTLET with cheaper prices. I found things priced the same as they were in the regular store. It’s actually more affordable to wait for a sale in a certain store than drive all the way here..
Lilu Y — Google review
Roses Designer Outlet is located just next to the border between Croatia and Slovenia. We visit it with whole family to dress kids, my wife and myself. It is a great opportunity for a stop during your long journey to Adriatics or back home before long traffic jam at the border. One can go for shopping or have a lunch break in the Roses' restaurants. The Outlet has a lot of clothes and footware options to choose from: designer shoes collection, dresses, suits, jeans or sport ware are represented here from most of the trendy brands. However one should notice that shops availability quite often depends on a season and year and some of them are closed when you just need them! Thereby I am giving only four points from five to this Designers Outlet. In any case the Roses is must to visit destination with moderate prices for disigners ware) I wish you to have fun here!

Wow, this amazing tower in Lendava is super tall, like forty-two metres! You get the most incredible view of the countryside from up there. If you're lucky and it's a bright, sunny day, you can even see Lake Balaton. They built it with these cool steel beams all shaped like a cone cylinder. Awesome place to chill and soak in the amazing nature views.
Nebojša R — Google review
Nice looking, modern view point above wineyards in town of Lendava. Ticket for one adult costs 7€ (a little to expesive) and you can use elevator or 240 stairs to get to the top. In the bottom of the tower is the small café and the gift-shop. There is a lot of parking space but the roads that lead to the top of hill are pretty narrow so you need to be careful. A great place to take your children, there is a lot of greenery and playground.

This spring was discovered during a search for oil production. Oil is indeed extracted 5 km away. The only question is, how healthy is it to swim in water filled with oil byproducts? The thermal pools are filled with oily black clouds with a distinctive oily smell, leaving a distinctive oily residue on the skin. It smells like a car service station. The adventure pool is poorly functioning. All these water activities require a wait of over 40 minutes, and everyone has to fight for a place in them. The massage areas are turned on once an hour and are available for 2-5 people, while the pool is full of dozens of people, all eager to have fun. Everything is also quite slimy and dirty. The mold on the ceiling is hidden under a canopy with a cloud design. Honestly, this is the most unpleasant of all the hot springs I visited in Hungary (I visited 7).

We had a nice time there with the family. There are plenty of water attractions, swimming pools, slides, both indoor and outdoor. Also you can find there food outlets. You can see that the object is already showing its age, but that doesn't stop you from having fun.

With my family we are visiting this place 1-2 times each summer since it opened. It is amazing to see how it expands and offers more and more services! I love all the pools. I've learned to swim here as a kid. I am 30+ now and I still enjoy it as a kid! The new slides are awesome! The prices are horribly high as always. I miss that tiny lake with the frogs...
Anna K — Google review
So many different pools, good for every age! We had a blast and could spend days there. Food felt only slightly more expensive than outside the pool. My only “bad” thing was the rules for the slides. We respected them, but my children who could go on MUCH larger and more intense slides at other water parks were extremely disappointed to not be allowed on the bigger slides. There were so many other activities for them to do that they got distracted soon enough.
Dakota R — Google review
A facility with thermal and also medical waters. The facility is huge with several pools, mostly with thermal waters, but some also with higher concentrations considered as medical. There is also some salt water pools. The attendants are mostly helpful, although they can get a bit less so if one doesn’t even try to speak Hungarian. I also took some therapies: the lymph drainage was unconventional but ok. The medical massage was a disaster and I was happy when It was finally over and not much damage was done. It was supposed to be an hour however it was only half an hour. The lady was simply disinterested and i doubt I ever had a worse massage in my life. My suggestion is to leave the therapies be. They are definitely not helpful, if not outright dangerous. Pity. The Park Inn hotel had a connecting bridge from the hotel to the facility which is quite convenient. This is highly recommended to people suffering pain as i think these waters can indeed alleviate many of the pains.

World’s largest swimmable natural thermal - it’s fun for a couple of hours. Trees provide some shade. Cards accepted for entry but need a cash deposit for swimming floats - worthwhile to aid a relaxing dip. We found that the water had a soporific effect and led to a great night’s sleep!

Update. Nice atmosphere and buildings although a bit undermaintained. For me it was good but my girlfriend with psoriasis had a lot of issues with her skin after bading the water for 1 hour. Hurted for hours. BUT: one day later it was way better than before. Didn’t expect that.

The lake is truly healing; after one session, you notice a relaxing effect, and after several sessions, it's already therapeutic. The infrastructure is very convenient, with everything you need. It's a quiet, nature-filled retreat – just perfect. Unfortunately, the main bathhouse building is closed, but despite that, there's enough space for everyone. I especially liked that they offer water gymnastics and stretching there.

What a joy this lake is! It's the largest swimmable thermal lake in the world. Its temperature is ideal, and the effects on the body are felt after a few days. Joint pain disappears as if by magic, and the skin is soft. Swimming among the water lilies, with swallows dancing overhead, is a dream. The conditions are excellent, very well organized, and the price is decent. The mud treatment is a plus that we highly recommend. Magical! We hope to return one day... We would have liked the staff to be a little more friendly and welcoming, and a better communication in English ;-)

This is a lovely thermal lake which also is huge. Everyone gets an armband that also gives you a personal locker for your belongings. Note that you can not pick any locker you have to blip the armband at the screen when entering the locker room and then you are assigned a locker. I recommend going around the lake to the "relax" section where there are a lot fewer people and a much more calm setting. The lake is quite warm so do not expect to get cooled down on a warm summer day.

Festetics Palace

Festetics Palace, located in Keszthely, Hungary, is a stunning Baroque-style palace that dates back to the 18th century. It was originally built by the Festetics family and has since become one of the largest country houses in Hungary. The palace features aristocratic rooms from the 18th and 19th centuries, a library with an impressive collection of 90,000 volumes, and a display of historic coaches.
I bought my ticket there — no waiting. The grounds are free to explore. It’s just a pity there’s no audio guide, which would make the visit even better. This palace feels like a fairytale — beautifully preserved and full of charm! A truly magical step into the past. I admire the care taken to honour its history. Bravo! I will definitely come again.
Silvia B — Google review
Beautiful preserved palace with clear descriptions for most rooms. Exquisite details. Wonderful gardens out back, with some locals jogging through or enjoying a shady sit beneath a tree. Visited in busy summertime (late July), with a bit of a queue for entrance tickets, but still manageable, crowd-wise. Staff here and there to guide folks through. Bags must be stowed in free lockers next to the palace entrance (large purses included).

Who knew I would be enchanted by furniture and clocks! ? The palace and the grounds are lovely. We came all the way from Budapest and it was worth it! Only negative would not give me the senior rate for entrance since I am American. Only EU members get the discount as seniors!

This place is great. The rooms are decorated nicely. Also, make sure you visit the grounds the carriage house. So many carriages - I have never seen ones so old

A must-see for young and old, one of the best preserved furnished castles we have seen so far. Amazing tapistry, furnitures and paintings, again proving the very small genetic pool of the British and other monarchies. Very friendly staff giving you truly the best visitor experience worth every penny.
Freddy V — Google review
An incredible place, real old world money— both for the sheer number of items and their exceptional state of preservation. It’s fascinating to think about the immense wealth this dynasty must have had to make it all possible. Very interesting to see items from the far east, Italy and England. The library presents a complete world of knowledge, and at moments you can truly feel the spirit of the era. I’ve visited many palaces, but this one stands out for its rich detail and remarkable preservation. It’s not very large, which makes it even more enjoyable — you don’t get tired halfway through, as often happens in such places. Absolutely worth a visit.
Dana H — Google review
Beautiful palace that is furnished. Gives an interesting insight on how it was lived in by the owners. Would be interesting to learn also how it was for the staff to live and work here. A palace like this depended on a huge staff to make it functional. Would have loved to see the kitchen and staff rooms.

A very interesting exhibition on volcanos and their activity in former times and today. Loved the building. The kids loved the videos. Well worth visiting!

Very nice and interesting place. It is possible to pay by card. English labels are everywhere.

Nice place to visit. You can see lots of interesting things about vulcanos and the Earth itself. You can also find interesting facts about near dead volcano Meg mountain. Which is also a good place to see:) Children can buy refreshments and some semi-precious stones there too.
Josef B — Google review
One of the best museum experiences in Hungary. This museum leads into the world of volcanoes through a symbolic journey from underground to the top of the building. Each room shows a different aspect, with great interactive tools, the final room opens up to the volcanic Ság hill. Worth the price, especially with guidance. Nice merch in the museum shop.
Balázs T — Google review
A local must-see for kids over the age of 7 years. There are many interactive and informative toys about geography (volcanos and minerals mainly) and astronomy (our solar system), although a few of them were out of order. My kids loved it.

Great volcano museum. Really world class and kid friendly. If you want to try the local wine try kovvin Winery and Vineyard just up the hill. You can rent the guesthouse that is very nice.

Sümeg Castle

Sights & Landmarks
13th-century fortress featuring historical exhibits, knights on horseback & medieval feasts.
Sümeg Castle is absolutely stunning! The hilltop views are breathtaking, and the castle itself is rich in history with great exhibits and medieval reenactments. Perfect for families or history lovers.
Yang E — Google review
Impressive castle. We'll preserved piece of history. We catch the falcon show, beautiful experience. Well organized, clean area. I recommend to visit this castle.
Alexandru A — Google review
Very beautiful castle, in good condition and with lots of fun to discover especially for families with kids! Clean facilities, a lot to learn and experience, the shows are very diverse and the employees very kind. From horseback riding to goat milking, canon shooting and sword fights, freshly baked sweet bread, souvenirs and middle ages knowledge - definitely worth a visit!
Anja L — Google review
The Sumeg Castle rises proudly above the surrounding landscape, visible from afar thanks to its hilltop position in the otherwise flat countryside near Lake Balaton. The castle is beautifully restored, featuring themed rooms with lifelike figures, a spacious courtyard with animals such as horses and geese, and plenty of activities for children — from pony rides to “fishing” games and ring tossing. There’s even a tavern on site serving beer, mead, and freshly baked pogácsa. 🍺🫓🐴
It’s a truly charming place that combines history, nature, and a bit of medieval fun — definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. 🏰✨
Eva B — Google review
Great castle to visit. The entry ticket is rather hefty for rural Hungary, but you can see that most of it goes into restoration and groundskeeping, so it's money well spent. Great views, superb atmosphere, and some nice exhibits. Some labels in English and some in German, but Hungarian speakers are definitely at an advantage here. We also caught an unexpected falconry show and an archery demonstration, which were included in the entry fee, unlike the late-afternoon tournament show below the castle.
Dániel B — Google review
Visiting the castle was a truly memorable experience! We were lucky to have Lili as our guide, offering a wonderful tour filled with fascinating stories and insights. The programs were excellent, engaging for both kids and adults, and perfectly organized throughout the day. One of the highlights was definitely the delicious oven-baked scones and flatbread, fresh and full of flavor—an absolute treat! The friendly staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, always smiling and ready to help. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a charming and enriching day out!
Cecília T — Google review
I like the way old castles are renovated here. Unbelievable views of the hill from distance. The road to the castle may be slippery during wet weather.
Zdeněk K — Google review
Nice castle with a beautiful view all around. It tries to show how life was during old times when the castle was used. Traditional trades like falconing and bow shooting are also shown (explanations only in Hungarian). You can try some traditional snacks made before your eyes. Various games are scattered around for trying (mostly for children, but some of them.are enjoyable for adults, too), there is also a traditional puppet theater. Traditional farm animals like goats, geese and donkeys are also part of the castle's life. The history of the castle are shown in more smaller exhibition rooms as you walk and explore. The castle itself is not easy to reach, because the way is very steep and quite long, and you have to leave your car at the foot of the hill (free parking).

Winding, 300m underground limestone cave system navigable by boat along a subterranean lake.
Cool visitor centre with fun exhibits and a short video, then down 73 steps into the cave. You row your own boat (max 200 kg) through 70 cm deep, crystal-clear turquoise water — takes about 10 minutes. Don’t rush! 😉 No guide, but audio guides are available. Tip: book online ahead (13€/ticket) especially in high season!
Silvia B — Google review
Quite an interesting place. We recommend visiting if you are in the vicinity of Balaton. We did not buy tickets in advance, they were at the box office. Unfortunately, the museum tour was only in Hungarian. You can see the museum on your own in 20 minutes. If you do not know Hungarian, we recommend skipping the main part of the tour. At the end of the tour, a good colorful film about the caves is shown in the 3D cinema. The most interesting thing is the boat ride along the underground river. This is exactly what it is worth coming here for. It is a short but very interesting trip.
Lina M — Google review
A fascinating underground cave right in the middle of the city, where you can take a small boat through winding tunnels of crystal-clear water. The ride is fairly short (about 15 minutes), but absolutely breathtaking. 🚤💎 The boats hold up to four people, and you paddle on your own, which makes the experience even more fun and personal. Some passages are quite narrow, so if you’re claustrophobic, you might want to skip this attraction — but it’s nothing extreme or frightening, just a bit snug in places. We visited during the autumn school holidays in Hungary, on a weekday, and had no problem buying tickets on the spot — the wait was minimal. The museum exhibition could use a little updating, but overall, it’s a unique and memorable experience that’s definitely worth it. 🌊✨
Eva B — Google review
Such a surprising magical place, located in the heart of the town, that was the highlight of our trip to Hungary, the water are so clear, the emerald colors are real!!! And there is no bad smell. A must do! Definitely!
Sharona D — Google review
Very well organised, good tourist attraction. Recommended to but tickets online in advance. Parking is available in the street front of the cave. The guide is well prepared and interesting. 40 minutes giud + 10 mins 3D video + 10 mins rowing.
Peter K — Google review
The famous photos you know are the end of the route. And that's actually the highlight for tourists, which is a shame. The route itself includes guidance only in Hungarian, then there's a video in a movie theater, also only in Hungarian , all the way you pass by the representatives who need to connect with guided listening in English through the app. Then at the end you reach the line for the boats. If you're lucky, you'll only wait half an hour. The boat route is short but stunning and worth the wait. By the way, if your line reaches the stairs, I estimate that the wait has been an hour or more, not sure it's worth it but you paid and you're there.... Up to 3 people can get on the boat. The route, I estimate, was 10 minutes.
איתי — Google review
The cave is a fantastic place! Unfortunately, the guided tour is only in Hungarian. However, the short boat ride inside the cave (about 10 minutes) is a truly unique experience.
J.J. J — Google review
Lovely river but too short. 15 min from start till end. Many problems with online tickets. It was impossible to buy 3 tickets in the same entrance. The solution is to buy 3 at different hours, and have a hope that the staff will allow you to entrance. For me worked😉

I visited this SPA on Sunday in the winter time. There is three areas to enjoy as a water park with sliding and children bath area, thermal baths(three baths with temperature from 36 up to 40 degree). Good saunas area there you also use a cold water bath after, ice also available.. Cafe open at site. Free car parking.

On main entrance and information desk, one cannot find anybody who speaks english, or any other language except of hungarian, and this should be a location where tourists are visiting. The place was closed due to the freshmen gathering of sort, and day before, we couldn't see any notice of sort, so we've basicly had worst experience after travling for two hours there. At information desk there should always be emoplyee who speaks english...

I used to come here often with my Family, in the past it used to be a very good experience for us. Today, we again went with the family, and the water was full of slimy gunk. The recirculating pumps were not turned on, and I don’t know how long this water has been sitting idle. It looks exactly like when you leave rain water outside for a couple of months, and the top is full of slimy green gunk. After asking the staff, they said it was normal, even though I have never seen this before in my previous visits. It feels like a breeding ground for bacteria. I won’t come again

It's a great water park, the slides are great, the thermalbath are good too, it also has an affordable price.
Laszlo V — Google review
I recently had a terrible experience at the local thermal water and spa facility. From the moment I arrived, I was met with unprofessional and rude staff. I stood at the reception desk for 10 minutes while the workers complained about their work life to each other, completely ignoring me. To make matters worse, there was no light in the reception area, which was very concerning and uninviting. When I finally got the attention of the lady at the desk, she asked her colleague to help me as she continued gossiping. I was shocked to find out that I couldn't buy a day pass for the facility. Instead, I was told that I had to purchase a 5 or 10-day pass. This is completely unacceptable, as I only wanted to use the facility for one day. I was so frustrated and disappointed that I left without even using the spa. It's outrageous that the facility has three people working at the reception desk, yet they can't even turn on the lights to make the area more welcoming. Furthermore, denying customers the option to purchase a single day pass is unacceptable. I would not recommend this facility to anyone and suggest they go elsewhere for a better experience
Adrienn T — Google review
It is a nice place but has some small things that ruins it. Just like the gates everywhere, you have to get trough 2 to get from inside to outside. I understand it has to do with counting how many people are where, but there were security guards too, you can give a 10 cent counter in their hands.... A lot of things outside need a renovation. The bath for small kids is extremely separated from the others.
István P — Google review
The Kaposvar Spa is a complex of thermal baths, saunas, massage facilities, outdoor pools, jacuzzis, shallow pools for kids, a few not-too tall slides, and a beach. It has a buffet inside where you can purchase drinks, sandwiches, and in the summer season when the open air pools are working there are several food facilities outside serving burgers, hot dog, simple dishes. The place is not pricy, even on an average Hungarian budget. If you are from the West of Europe, or the U.S. you will find it an excellent deal: entrance fees for a full day are around 8 USD, 6 EUR, or 5 GBP. Food items are usually around 1,5-3 GBP. There is also a shop selling bathing suits, towels, swimming goggles, etc. in case you have left anything at home. The place is well staffed. Members of staff speak some level of English and German in general, and they are polite, not intrusive.
Alexandra K — Google review
Your more modern than average Health Spa. Only visited the Thermal part, which is built as a modern pool area, with its natural light and air, but sadly with all the noise also. You are tortured with the normal Fidesz-propaganda with the TV on all the time that gives a background-noise, but not audible to understand. At least it has Type2-charging outside.

Tihanyi Bencés Apátság is a Benedictine monastery dating back to the 11th century, situated on a hill overlooking Lake Balaton in Hungary. The abbey features stunning 18th-century frescoes and houses a museum showcasing its turbulent yet peaceful history. The area surrounding the monastery offers traditional farmhouses, hiking trails with geyser cones, and opportunities for surfing amidst wild greenery. Visitors can also explore hidden waterfront terraces and dine at charming restaurants.
Always worth to visit if you are in Hungary! Since the restauration of the church in 2023 it is really a beautiful spot! Nice park with lots of beautiful flowers and of course a good view at the lake. Little to crowdy as all the tourists want to see and visit Tihany. So did wee and we don´t regret!

Phenomenal experience. The history comes alive and you feel you are there. What a joy and pleasure to experience Tihany Abbey and see the village as well. It's the oldest abbey in Hungary, to my knowledge. The energy here is powerful!Well worth it!!!
Steven R — Google review
The center of Tihany County is the Benedictine Abbey of Tihany, founded in 1055 by András (Andrew I of Hungary), who is buried in the crypt. The founding charter of this abbey is the first surviving Hungarian-language record preserved in the Benedictine abbey of Pannonhalma. The church itself was rebuilt in Baroque style in 1754. The still functioning abbey is a popular tourist attraction due to its historical and artistic significance. It also has the best view of Lake Balaton. The abbey is also a footnote in Habsburg history - the last Habsburg Austrian emperor, Charles I of Habsburg-Lorraine, was briefly imprisoned here after his second attempt to regain the Hungarian throne. He was later handed over to the British.

The Tihanyi Bencés Apátság is a true jewel of Hungarian architecture and history. The abbey, which was founded in the 11th century, impresses not only with its majestic location with breathtaking views of Lake Balaton, but also with its fascinating baroque details and artistic frescoes in the interior. The impressive church with its distinctive twin towers is particularly noteworthy. The historical tour offers interesting insights into the Benedictine tradition and monastic life. The atmosphere is peaceful and invites you to linger, while the surrounding nature invites you to take walks. A visit to Tihany Abbey is not only culturally enriching, but also a feast for the eyes - absolutely recommended for every traveler in the region!

Veszprém Zoo has undergone significant improvements in recent years, transforming into a child-friendly destination with safari-style exhibits and ample entertainment options. The zoo now features spacious, modern enclosures for its diverse range of animals, including elephants, lions, rhinos, bears, giraffes, and monkeys. Visitors can explore attractions such as Chimpanzee World and Bobe Monkey's School Education while enjoying the 300-square-meter indoor playhouse Kid Jungle.
We have been here with family few weeks ago. The ZOO is very nice and big. All the animals have very big place for life. Looks that they are so satisfied wit it 🙂. If you are going there in the middle of the day, you have to calculate in that there is not a lot of hideaway from the sun. If you are coming with little kids or baby, better to take a stroller with you, because there is a long-long way to walk (for us- 3 adults- it was almost 3 hours of walking). The very best thing was, that we should see all the animals, because the enclosures of the animals are well built, so if they are hidden from the sun, we can still see them. There is a Dino Park as well (there is no need other ticket to buy, is included the ticket at the entrance). The other cool thing here is, that they have a lot of refreshments buffets and next to all of them there are toilets also. The ZOO in Veszprém is a good journey for families or friends trip as well. Congratulations for the ZOO team!

The Veszprém Zoo welcomes visitors in a wonderful, well-organized, and clean environment, reflecting the dedicated care given to the animals, even behind the scenes. The zoo is home to a wide variety of exotic and local species, including big cats, bears, king pythons, turtles, and many mammals, all showcased in naturalistic enclosures and themed areas that make the experience especially enjoyable. A special highlight is the dinosaur park, featuring over 50 life-sized dinosaur sculptures and interactive experiences that transport visitors to the fascinating world of prehistoric creatures. Open year-round, the zoo is set in a picturesque location between Gulya Hill and Fejes Valley, making it a perfect spot for families and animal lovers to explore and relax. More than just a zoo, Veszprém offers engaging community programs, animal feedings, and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages. Continuous improvements, a spotless and orderly setting, and diverse animal collections ensure an unforgettable visit. In summary, Veszprém Zoo is a carefully maintained, clean, and friendly place where extraordinary animals, a well-designed dinosaur park, and a natural setting all combine to create joyful and memorable experiences for everyone.

The Siofok Water Tower, located in the city center, is a historic structure that provides unrestricted views of both the town and countryside. Upon purchasing a ticket at the entrance, visitors can ascend to the top via one of several lifts and enjoy coffee and cake at the cafe before proceeding up some additional steps to take in panoramic views from atop this unique rotating tower. Overall, it's an intriguing building that offers more than expected for those seeking breathtaking vistas.
Good city view from top. There is dome small exhibition of its history and city history. You get up there by lift. No coffee/restaurant opened up there now.

Visiting the old water tower was a unique and enjoyable experience. The tower stands tall with a charming, historical presence, offering a glimpse into the area's past. Although it's not an active facility anymore, the architecture and the surrounding area are fascinating to explore. It's a very special place. It is a self-built castle in the Mannerist style, which is different from the castles we are used to imagining, but it is worth visiting. The price of 3,000 forints (2,000 for pensioners) is reasonable. The large inner garden terrace is not to be missed. Visits are individual and you need at least three hours to see everything. The rooms are full of paintings, sculptures, photographs and art. The Bory family still live there.

Very pretty castle made by a talented man. It is also very well maintained. We went on Monday and there were only about 4-5 other people in the whole castle, so we had a very calm experience.

Must visit place in Hungary. Very beautiful and interesting. Very friendly staff. Many details to explore.

$13 aud per ticket very pretty from the outside and inside however just beautiful to look at from the outside so you don’t even need to buy a ticket. If you are in the area then go past and have a look otherwise I probably wouldn’t

I really loved it. It gives a unique artistic experience with an atmosphere.

It's a nice place to visit for arts, sculptures and flowers, but it only took about 1.5 hours to finish it in a very slow pace.

Turul Monument

Mentioned on

Memorial
Sights & Landmarks
The Turul Monument is an enormous bronze statue of a falcon-like bird, which was a totem of medieval clans in the region. It offers a great view over Tatabanya and is often visited by tourists passing through the area. The monument can be reached on foot from the train station, with a challenging but enjoyable climb up many sets of stairs. At the top, visitors are rewarded with a 180-degree view on clear days.
This monument and the cave nearby and right above Tatabánya and have a beautiful view out toward the city and beyond. The cave was really cool to see and quite big. There is a free parking lot and a little restaurant here as well. The walk from the monument is short and has some informative signs along the way. An enjoyable way to spend an hour!

The monument itself is impressive, and the view from the hill is breathtaking — a perfect spot to take in the landscape and snap some photos. It’s easy to reach by car or a short hike, and the surrounding area is peaceful and well maintained. A great stop for anyone exploring Hungary!

Great place with epic view. There are some tables with beaches and grill zones. Also there is a kids playground. Be careful of slippery rocks - wear trekking shoes!

Massive monument and national symbol, it's a must see if you are in the area. The views on the city underneath from the cliffs just below are stunning. Be sure to take good walking shoes as most of the nearby walking trails are uneven. There are a couple mobile bistros on the way to the monument, next to the parking lot (which does get busy.)

Definitely worthwhile visiting the cave. Takes about 15 mins to walk to from the car park. The cave is very interesting and there are information panels. We used Google translate to find out the history.

The bigest bird statue in Europe. A nice lookout to view Tatabanya.

The Turul is a mythical bird of prey and a national symbol of Hungarians. The massive monument overlooks the surrounding countryside. Nice walking paths and also a great cave to explore.

Very exclusive place in a beautiful environment. The hosts are delightful and the food is great. Their vine is great but the cognac delicious. Looking forward to taste their own gin.

This is a must go place. The scenery and view are absolutely stunning, the owners are extremely nice and helpful. The wines are really high quality and nicely present the values of Etyek. You must try the champagne, which is by far the best in the area.

Retailer selling the brand's outerwear & active apparel for all ages, plus shoes & accessories.
Good prices, excellent business culture.

I liked the store. Kinda crowded but the prices were good. You could find the good items for women, men, and kids. I also found many really brand new models which I didn’t expect that. They were so helping and kind with the costumers.

(Translated by Google) Nice service, the seller helped us find more products, we also bought special detergent to wash clothes with. This way the quality will last longer (Original) Kedves kiszolgálás, több termék keresésében segített az Eladó, speciális mosószert is megvettük amivel ruhát mosni kell. Így minősége is tovább megmarad

(Translated by Google) The Helly Hansen brand is a huge disappointment, the shoes didn't last a year. I didn't get a repair or replacement. NOTHING (for 40,000.-), in their opinion the shoes were overused. I bought them to use!!! My MERREL shoes are worth more, after 4 years there are no problems with them, except that they wear out.

(Translated by Google) We had a very bad experience at the store. At the checkout, an older, snub-nosed saleswoman was extremely condescending to me and my fiancée. Despite spending nearly 50,000 HUF on a few pieces of clothing, we experienced no respect or courtesy. She intentionally dropped my fiancée's phone on the table, she had a hard time saying hello, and we felt like we were a burden to be there. This kind of attitude is completely unacceptable and unworthy of any commercial establishment. We will definitely not return, and we cannot recommend this store to others with a good heart.
