Postojna Cave Ticket Store

Mentioned on

Event ticket seller
Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
The Postojna Cave Ticket Store offers various tour options, especially during the busy summer months. Guided tours are the only way to explore the complex cave system. Visitors can purchase combined tickets with nearby attractions like the castle, although shuttle service is not included. It's recommended to visit the castle in the morning and then explore the cave due to limited bus schedules.
Service was fast. Cashiers were very helpful in guiding us.

Postojna Cave Ticket Store – A Smooth Start to an Incredible Journey Purchasing tickets at Postojna Cave was a seamless and pleasant experience that set the tone for the adventure ahead. The ticket store is located right next to the main entrance, easy to find, and well-organized. Even with a steady flow of visitors, everything moved efficiently thanks to clear signage and helpful staff. Although online booking is also available and highly recommended during busy periods. The staff were welcoming, spoke excellent English, and explained the different ticket options, including combo packages that cover additional sights like Predjama Castle. What I appreciated most was the detailed information provided at the ticket counter — they explain the tour timings, meeting points, and even suggest how to plan extra activities if you have more time in the area. It made organizing our visit stress-free. The standard cave ticket includes an exciting electric train ride and a guided walking tour. While the live guides are very knowledgeable, the audio guide available in multiple languages is also an excellent option. I found the audio guide particularly helpful for getting deeper insights without feeling rushed, and it allows you to enjoy the magical surroundings at your own pace. Overall, the Postojna Cave ticketing experience was extremely professional, friendly, and efficient. It’s clear they care about making every visitor’s experience smooth from the very beginning — an excellent introduction to one of Slovenia’s greatest natural wonders.

Awesome. Amazing journey. Don't let the "talk" of it being "Disneyland like" deture you from going. The cave "rooms" are HUGE. Incredible complex and a highlight of our trip while in Slovenia. ( €25.80 p/p )
Al M — Google review
Caves are stunning as well as Predjamski castle. Shuttle bus to the castle start at 10am although castle is open from 9am. Timetable isn't on the web site.

Skocjan Caves

Mentioned on

Nature & Parks
The Skocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are an extraordinary subterranean network of caves and canyons formed by the Reka River over thousands of years. The 6km-long cave system features fossil-filled chambers and a river that flows into the Dead Lake before resurfacing as the Timavo River in Italy. Visitors can explore this remarkable natural wonder on a flat walking tour, admiring its unusual karst landscape and historical significance dating back to prehistoric times.
What an amazing place! A beautiful walk through the caves. At the end, you can choose one of three trails: 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour. I highly recommend the 1-hour trail, as it gives you access to more caves and bridges. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance, and I recommend bringing a raincoat and waterproof boots or sneakers
Manuela B — Google review
The caves are worth seeing, although it is quite dark inside (for good reasons), and a lot of detail can't be seen. There are hundreds of steps, mostly going down inside the cave. Once the guided tour was completed, I took the exit to the left which includes two options, a 30 minute path or a one hour path. The one hour path was fantastic. There are so many points of interest worth capturing on camera, especially a waterfall. The end of the path was all up hill, with many elongated steps. The rest is along a road back to the parking lot. The morning was all sold out if tickets were not bought in advance. The afternoon was less busy. A free museum of how the explorers found and traversed the cave is under the information centre. A gift shop, cafe and large seating area was available inside and out.
Niki — Google review
Amazing, monumental, huge and much less commercial and crowded cave than postojna. I really recommend this one for people who want to experience one of the most amazing cave of the world. The amount of space, of the water and beauty inside is just overwhelming. Parking is free, same with toilets. The pace was just a little too fast for people who are less than average sporty. Overall 10/10 Important information: you absolutely cannot take photos inside
J ( — Google review
Grand. On one level just a large cave complex (dry side) but then the river cuts through the cave and its is magnificent and huge (and for me terrifying). Guide was good and nice to have some time for exploring. Be warned, lots of walking.
Stefan S — Google review
Stunning. We were actually unsure before the tour, and it's true you have very little choice during the tour but follow guide and group like a sheep, especially if there are many people like when we visited. But at the same time this cave system is breathtaking. Of course I would enjoy a different way of visiting, slower, with more time, less people. But if that's the only way it's still worth it! But you should be afraid of heights ;) The information at the Park are actually very poor, the information center was already closed before our tour ended, that was a bit disappointing..
Scarlett M — Google review
I absolutely love caves and visit them anywhere in the world that I can, but this is amazing. It's huge inside. Also the extra walk after the cave tour is equally as good as the cave itself. Spend the extra hour and take the extra steps to make the trip worth it.
Gabe R — Google review
Awe inspiring cave that is a UNESCO site. There is a massive gorge with a river running through it that is like something out of the Mines of Moria. This is an absolute must visit if in beautiful Slovenia. You can’t take photos inside the main caverns only on the outside areas.
Tyler G — Google review
Beneath the surface lies a hidden world of wonder. Just across the border in Slovenia, a country of breathtaking nature, mountains, and castles, you'll find a place of incredible beauty and astonishing statistics: Škocjan Caves. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to one of the largest underground canyons on the planet. Carved by the Reka River, this massive canyon, up to 140 meters high in some places, is a spectacle to behold. The sheer scale is mind-boggling, with the incredible Martel Chamber, one of the largest cave rooms in the world, boasting a volume of 2.2 million cubic meters. Walking through the canyon, you'll cross the Cerkvenik Bridge, suspended 47 meters above the river, and witness other wonders like the 15-meter-tall "Giant" stalagmite. It's a humbling and awe-inspiring experience that reminds you of the immense power of nature. Have you ever visited a place that took your breath away? One important note for your visit: please do not use flash photography inside the cave!

Dragon Bridge

Sights & Landmarks
Dragon Bridge, also known as Zmajski Most, is a pedestrian-friendly art nouveau bridge in Ljubljana, built in 1900. It is famous for its series of dragon statues that guard either side of the bridge and smaller griffins adorning its lamp posts. The bridge spans the Ljublanica river and is a popular spot for tourists to take photos due to its remarkable dragon sculptures modeled after the city's coat of arms.
We loved visiting Ljubljana and seeing the Dragon Bridge. Such a wide variety of things to do and see. Highly recommend the City Hotel and we enjoyed dining at Most restaurant.
Steve F — Google review
Ljubljana's Dragon Bridge in Slovenia is an iconic representation of Art Nouveau architecture, drawing visitors from far and wide. The bridge's four imposing dragon statues, one at each corner, command attention. Strategically located in Ljubljana's historic center, the bridge crosses the Ljubljanica River, facilitating social exchange. Fascinating local myths surround the bridge and its dragons, such as the story that the dragons acknowledge a virgin's crossing with a subtle movement. The concrete bridge has earned the colloquial nickname 'mother-in-law' from some locals, who find the dragons' fiery demeanor both captivating and intimidating. The Dragon Bridge, a masterpiece designed by Slovenian Jurij Zaninovic, stands as a testament to the city's resilience. This stunning Art Nouveau bridge was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Hapsburg Emperor Franz Josef's reign, with the dates 1848-1888 elegantly inscribed on its side. A symbol of hope and renewal, the bridge honors the emperor's contributions to the city's revitalization after the devastating 1895 earthquake. Conveniently located, the bridge is within walking distance of iconic landmarks like Ljubljana Cathedral, Ljubljana Castle, and the vibrant Ljubljana Central Market.
C K — Google review
The Dragon Bridge in Ljubljana is one of the city's most iconic landmarks, symbolizing Ljubljana's identity. It is located in Ljubljana's city center over the Ljubljanica River. The bridge is famous for its four large bronze dragon statues—two at each end—and sixteen smaller dragons decorating the bridge's span.
Kevin A — Google review
Definitely my favorite bridge in all of Europe, because I love dragons. And this was very close and walkable to my hotel and in the center of everything there is to do in town definitely worth a stop and it even is the site of a geocache.
Jeff C — Google review
Nothing too special on its own, but the dragon statues are iconic and symbolic to Ljubljana. Definitely worth a quick stop and a photo if you’re exploring the city.
J — Google review
Impressive dragons decorate this Art Nouveau bridge that was built between 1900 and 1901 and the first with a reinforced concrete structure in town. The story goes that the dragons are tied to the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts, who are said to have founded Ljubljana and slain a dragon nearby.
Seimen B — Google review
Beautiful large green dragon statues built in 1901. Locals say tshe dragons wag their tails when a virgin crosses the bridge (a fun old joke among residents).
Snippets — Google review
It's a bridge with Dragons on it. We counted at least 20. Good place for a photo. Some people may say its crowded but I'd say it has atmosphere with people stopping to take photographs or passing by as they head to the nearby cafes and restaurants.

Great central location, great service. The staff were very responsive to help us with any issues. The room is compact and comfortable. The kitchen is a bit of a tight squeeze but is well equipped.

Great location and great price. Everything you'd need. The bedroom is separate to the main room and it has a kitchenette, it is centrally located too with a large choice of bars and restaurants close by. Even though they are close we never had any noise problems. I don't think I would go back to Ljubljana again as I think I have experienced everything it has to offer but if I did go back I would stay here again.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Predjama Castle, located 9km from Postojna, is a 13th-century fortress built within a cave in the face of a cliff. The castle's construction spans several centuries, with most of its current structure dating back to the 16th century. It stands as an impressive and seemingly unconquerable sight. Visitors can explore restored living areas, dungeons, and even a secret tunnel while learning about its fascinating history through audio guides.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-see! Predjama Castle is absolutely breathtaking — a true gem built right into the side of a cliff! The combination of natural beauty and medieval architecture is stunning. Every corner of the castle tells a story, and you can really feel the history as you walk through the rooms and tunnels. The views from the castle are incredible — looking out over the valley feels like stepping back in time. It’s one of the most unique and fascinating places I’ve ever visited. Highly recommend!
Jose P — Google review
The castle is amazing, get the free audio guide and listen to the detailed history of the castle as you walk through it. We drove to the castle and parking is a bit of a hassle, some free others you need to pay for. You can drive right up and do a loop to see what parking near is available.
Chris Y — Google review
The castle always amazes me with its grandeur and power. I like that they offer an interactive guide (it's a shame that there isn't one in Postojna Cave). The downside is that they charge for the guides, which I've never experienced anywhere else in Europe - even in Postojna Cave. But I definitely recommend anyone who wants to visit a castle to visit it, you won't be disappointed.
Zumba Š — Google review
Gorgeous setting for a castle. Would have easily stayed outside of it having a coffee and contemplating rather than paying and coming in, but either way don't miss it!
Anibal M — Google review
A different type of castle, picturesque and quaint. Has been used as a backdrop for movies and TV series. The parking is a bit of a trek away from the castle. There is free WiFi, and the castle has a free downloadable audio guide, which is quite detailed and helpful. Lots of climbing up stairs involved. The view from the castle balconies is awesome.
PALLAB R — Google review
The most incredible castle in the side of a cliff! I cannot believe people are saying not to bother with it - it’s incredible! Really worth a visit, the audio guide available on your phone is convenient and informative! I was blown away, must visit!

Unity of Italy Square, or Piazza Unita d'Italia, is a breathtaking expanse that proudly claims the title of Europe's largest seafront square. Nestled in Trieste, this grand public space offers stunning views of the sea and is surrounded by impressive architecture and charming cafes. The square showcases an elegant blend of Austro-Hungarian design and modern civic pride, making it a focal point for both locals and visitors alike.
✨ One of the most beautiful and majestic squares in Europe! Located right by the Adriatic Sea, this place offers a truly unique atmosphere. The architecture is stunning — especially the city hall facade, which looks incredible, especially when lit up in the evening. The square is clean, spacious, and perfect for a relaxing walk. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby where you can enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. Absolutely a must-visit spot in Trieste for photos and unforgettable moments! 🌊🏛️

There are places that impress you, and then there are places that touch you. Piazza Unità d’Italia is the heart and soul of Trieste – a square that doesn’t just stand still in time, but breathes with the history, pride, and elegance of generations. Facing the Adriatic Sea, this square is both open and monumental – a rare balance of grandeur and intimacy. Surrounded by magnificent buildings and kissed by the sea breeze, it’s a place where you instantly feel present and small in the most beautiful way. By day, it shines with architectural harmony and calm Mediterranean charm. By night, it transforms into something almost poetic – glowing lights, reflections on the water, and an atmosphere that makes you slow down and simply absorb the moment. Being here with my family felt like stepping into a painting. It’s not just a place to visit – it’s a place
Vasilka G — Google review
The square looks impressive, the buildings around it architectural masterpieces. However, I didn't get a sense of the scale and spaciousness of the square. My wife and I visited the square on the closing day of the annual regatta (Barcolana). The entire space was filled with decorations, advertising banners, and prefabricated stalls selling food and beer. It was very noisy, crowded everywhere, but fun.
Game G — Google review
A beautiful place!! A huge plus is that there weren't masses of tourists so the square was really clear. The view is immersive!! 🤩 All the buildings look amazing. 🌟
Lukáš D — Google review
1 | Piazza Unità d’Italia is the largest square in Europe opening onto the sea, its area is over 12,000 m². 2 | The square is definitely worth a visit and can easily be combined with a walk to the pier. We were there on a summer evening when the illuminated town hall building dominated the scene. 3 | The square is lined with numerous restaurants and cafés where you can sit down and relax. What surprised me was that most grocery stores close as early as 9:00 PM.
Petr N — Google review
It is a big flat old stone dock. Great to walk once or twice, be aware that there is no shade in the 37c sun and little room to sit. It was enjoyable to see the Adriatic sea and look at any big ships docked but nothing else.
Anslem L — Google review
A beautiful big square facing the Adriatic Sea with 3 impressive palace buildings and a fountain. This is the seat of the local government for the city and the region. The square is used for concerts and parades and large civic events. Many famous music artists have played here including Green Day, Duran Duran, Carlos Santana, Iron Maiden, Garbage, Mike and Snoop Dogg

Trieste’s Unity of Italy Square is one of the most beautiful squares in Europe — a grand open space facing the Adriatic Sea. The view is breathtaking, especially at sunset. It’s home to some elegant cafés, including a very famous one, though the prices match the view :)

Tartinijev trg, also known as Tartini Square, is a charming and bustling square located in the heart of the town. The central monument is dedicated to Giuseppe Tartini, a renowned composer and violinist from the area. Surrounding the square are historic buildings such as the Church of St Peter and Tartini House, where the composer was born. Visitors can explore narrow streets typical of Istrian towns and enjoy stunning views from the nearby Church of St. George.
Absolutely loved this place. It was the cleanest town I've been to not a piece of litter anywhere, lots of history, lots of bars and places to eat. It has a lovely harbour which leads onto a square where you can sit and just watch the world go by. There is a place where you can see 3 countries from, Italy, Croatia and of course Slovenia. Highly recommend a visit

A beautiful square in Piran, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and cute shops around the square. A very large area where children can play safely with a view of the harbor and the sea and the surrounding historical buildings of the old town of Piran. The true spirit of a coastal town!

Gorgeous square, perfect to explore and enjoy the sunshine. Enjoy the cafes and restaurants or explore the cobbled picturesque streets.

Tartini Square (Slovene: Tartinijev trg) is the largest and main town square in Piran, Slovenia. It is named after the famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in Piran. The square is a vibrant pedestrian area, surrounded by historic buildings. It serves as a social and cultural hub of Piran, hosting concerts and events, with cafes, restaurants, and shops around its perimeter. The design provides scenic views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding hills.

Lovely square with plenty of free parking for motorbikes. The harbour was also very beautiful, sadly in motorbike clothing and 40 degree heat, we didn't stay long but would love to revisit one-day.

Tartini's square in the City of Piran, Slovenia, is a beautiful example of Mediterranean city urban planning that nailed it. People of all ages enjoy spending time there. It is vibrant all day long. Great views - to the marina, the sea, surrounding buildings, monument of Tartini, shops, caffees and restaurants, a lot of benches to just sit and relax while you get amused just by looking at people of all ages doing their thing. It is a real jam for photographers and a great place to make a tone of different selfies.

I had the baklava ice cream and hands down it was the best ice cream I've ever tasted - my partner agreed and he is an ice cream fanatic! Highly recommend, amazing ice cream and lovely friendly service too.

Nothing special. A square with some caffees and restaurants. Okay view, so if you are around it's worth a visit, but I wouldnt travel there just for this purpose.

Basilica di Sant'Eufemia

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The Basilica of Santa Eufemia, located in the historical town of Grado, is an ancient Catholic church renowned for its ornate art. This beautiful example of Byzantine architecture dates back to the 6th century and houses valuable artworks such as mosaics, frescoes, and altarpieces. Adjacent to the Basilica is the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, both featuring impressive mosaics and frescoes.
Beautiful church, open during the day on weekdays and weekends (free admission).
Gábor B — Google review
"A visit to the basilica is an absolute must when you are in the city. Its rich history, dating back to the [e.g., 12th century], offers a profound glimpse into the region's past. The view of the basilica itself is truly impressive; its [e.g., soaring Gothic architecture/grand Baroque facade] dominates the cityscape and is breathtaking from every angle. Inside, you'll be captivated by the shimmering, intricate mosaics that adorn the entire floor, depicting [e.g., stunning biblical narratives/complex geometric patterns]. Furthermore, the collection of beautifully carved statues of saints inside adds to the profound spiritual atmosphere of the church. Allow yourself at least an hour to fully immerse yourself in its beauty and history."
Damir — Google review
I was impressed by this Basilica. By first look it doesn't looks so important and noble, but than you discover, that it has great mosaics on the whole tloris. That there are no frescoes, but you can still sees remainings of its frescoes on the walls. That there is an amazing octagonal baptisterium separated from church building. There is also a free museum with antique marble stone collection. The basilica has also treasure with in the vault. There is also famous golden altar. But at the end you can feel small and just sit down on the bench and pray with gratitude to God.
Gaber Z — Google review
A very old church, in the historical town Grado. I recommend visiting it, if you spend some time in this beautiful town. When you attend the holy mass on sunday you can hear the wonderful chore during the mass, mainly consisting of elder Grado citizens. A pleasant experience.
Márton S — Google review
Ancient church in the heart of "Old Grado". The whole area is extremely worthy of a tour. There is a "labirinth" of narrow alleys and streets that open - almost suddenly - in small squares ("Calli"). Often there are restaurants, almost hidden but valuable.

Visiting the Basilica di Saint'Euphemia in Grado was a truly moving experience. The atmosphere inside is serene and filled with history — the stunning mosaics, the graceful architecture, and the sense of timelessness make this place incredibly special. A must-visit while in Grado!

Military Memorial Redipuglia

Military cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
Military Memorial Redipuglia is a significant site in Italy, dedicated to honoring the soldiers who perished during World War I. It stands as one of the largest military memorial cemeteries, specifically commemorating those who lost their lives in the Isonzo front. The monument's monumental staircase is a poignant tribute to these fallen heroes. Visiting this somber yet impressive location offers an opportunity for reflection on the horrors of war and the immense sacrifices made by countless individuals.
A lot of blood was shed by that hero, who gave their life for a free homeland, by that anonymous hero, whose name was never known, who fought day and night, whose only reward was the freedom of their country, who knew that a medal did not make them a hero, but their dignity as a soldier and representative of their country, no matter the cost, even their own life. Thanks to the person who kindly took the time to tell us the story of those great heroes who could speak English, but if they could speak Spanish, thank you because you are another hero who represents them.
Anthonny S — Google review
Huge and impressive memorial for all the brave men and soldiers who fought for the freedom of Italy. It’s 22 sections with stairs up to the catholic church. Each section is filled with the name of the soldiers. There’s also a museum on top, as well as restrooms. Small parking on top. A larger parking on the opposite of the the road. No entrance fee to the memorial.
Uki B — Google review
Stop by and honour the boys who built the world for us. One of the saddest corners in Italy. It is one of the largest military memorial cemetery in honour of the soldiers who died in Isonzo front during the first world war. While you visit the place, I invite you to kindly imagine the horror of a war, the pain and suffering of the boys and the suffering of the family back in their homes. Do we need another war ? ... Anywhere??? Near the cemetery and on the other side of the hill, one may observe trenches and the guns and shells used during the war. Ample parking. Highly recommended. Please bring young kids and show them the horror.
Mithu S — Google review
The scale of this monument is highly impressive and, without using a drone, I don't think photos really do it justice. So many names listed is moving. Interesting to see that Mussolini's role in creating the monument has not been removed from history in the plaque at the top of the monument. Perhaps there could be a little more information for visitors to learn about the reasons for this monument's existence.
Edward A — Google review
Like most Americans, I'd grown up knowing little of the history of WWI on the "Italian front." My son married a woman from this area of Italy, so I've learned more about it. This memorial concerns the casualties of the WWI battles along the Isonzo River, the last of which was the almost complete destruction of the Italian army at Caporetto. Giant steps have placards with names of the dead, and at the top are tombs memorializing the 60K unknowns. For an American, imagine something at least 10x the size of the Vietnam memorial; the scale is hard to grasp. A small chapel is at the top. Nearby are exhibits, mostly pictures contributed by families of their dead sons. The pictures are haunting... faces of young men (boys really), that died more than 100 years ago. Nearby are remnants of trenches cut into the rocky soil. Hard to imagine what they endured here. Well worth a stop if you're in the area.
William S — Google review

Lake Bled is a picturesque destination, surrounded by mountains and forests, with a charming island that houses a historic church. The high season runs from May to October, attracting tourists from various countries. The local cuisine offers modern and diverse dishes, including homemade pasta, soups, and smoked trout specialties. Visitors can enjoy tasting menus featuring light and fresh dishes made from natural ingredients.
Very beautiful place, truly dreamy It’s an absolute must-see when visiting Slovenia. I went there in October, there were some people, but it wasn’t too crowded.

Idyllic, restful & charming place to visit! Lovely to take the Pletna boat to visit the church, walk around the lake and climb up to the church & castle! Blessed to be able to enjoy the beauty of this lake & surroundings!

A lake with a small island and being overlooked by a castle on an intimidatingly high hill. An absolutely gorgeous lake. I’d recommend two days in the area, with one dedicated to the lake and castle.

Bled is a must visit if you are in Slovenia. We came around end of September, got caught in the rain for the first night but the second day was perfect with sunny weather. Not too crowded during our visit. We love it

It’s our first time in Slovenia so we had to see iconic Lake Bled. We spent 4 hours walking around the lake and taking our time to enjoy the place. It’s beautiful as in a fairytale and there’s plenty to do, toboggan, kayak, SUP, take a pletna boat to the island, just walk around, have a picnic. It’s perfect. There’s definitely tourists around, like ourselves but it wasn’t overcrowded on the day we went in late September. We parked at Straza Bled, found the price most reasonable amongst other carparks for the distance to Lake Bled. 3€ for first 2 hours and 3€ for every next hour. It’s also right next to the fun toboggan.

The island of Maria on Lake Bled feels both real and timeless. I stumbled upon this as the weather shifted, the sun breaking through while a gentle rain fell, creating a moment that felt almost otherworldly.

One of the best lakes in Europe to relax and enjoy. The church is located in the middle of the lake. We can visit the church via rowing boat. Unfortunately we don't have enough time to visit the church and castle. Overall the lake is worth seeing.

Museum
Bled Castle, a clifftop fortress dating back to the 11th century, stands proudly overlooking Lake Bled. Originally built in 1004 by Emperor Henry II, it was later inhabited by the Bishops of Brixen for over eight centuries. The castle has undergone renovations and expansions throughout the Middle Ages, including the addition of a chapel and other structures. Visitors can explore its museum and partake in various activities tied to the castle's history for an entrance fee.
Small castle view amazing views. Amazing views. Castle itself is rather small but the vibe is great. You really get the feeling of medieval times. There's also great view over the island in the middle of the lake. Went there 2 times in one day: first in the morning, just to tour around, no line, very few people. Easy to get around. Second time went for the dinner in the restaurant that is located in the castle. Sunset over the lake and even less visitors. Restaurant offers inside and outside seating depending on the weather. Views are amazing for both options. Everything is clean and cozy. Really recommend!
Margus M — Google review
The climb up to this castle is pretty steep, and tickets aren’t exactly cheap. If you don’t plan on actually going inside, it might not be worth the effort, since you won’t really get any accessible viewpoints from the top without paying for entry. We had already visited plenty of other spots in the area, so we skipped it this time – maybe next visit. Still, feels like the tickets could be priced a bit more reasonably.
Karol K — Google review
Went to Bled castle on an organized trip, so I was already sorted for the tickets. The main attraction of the castle are the views on the lake, which are quite spectacular. There is a small museum with the story of the castle and of the lake (including the island), a restaurant, toilets and also a souvenir shop. Overall we spent 1h here which I think was appropriate to take photos and explore the museum.
Andrea L — Google review
A really interesting and almost mystical medieval castle. No long waiting lines — entry is quick and easy, whether you pay in cash or digitally — and suddenly you’re standing right inside history. At the top, there’s a cozy café where you can enjoy a coffee and a slice of cake, which I can honestly recommend. Sitting there with your coffee and cake, looking down at the lake far below, you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. You can see the boats on the water and the mountains all around — the panorama is absolutely stunning. After that, you can take a short walk through the castle, visit the small museum, explore the souvenir shops, or taste and buy local honey and wine. Toilets are available, and there’s parking right in front of the castle, though it’s a bit pricey at around 3 € per hour. Families can get a family ticket, which is a bit cheaper. We ended up spending almost the whole day there because it’s simply beautiful — peaceful, full of history, and absolutely worth a visit. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bled.
Andre B — Google review
The castle is very well preserved (it is worth paying for the access) and offers a very beautiful view over the the lake and the island. On a personal note, I think it is more spectacular on the inside. It is the best way to end a nice walk around the lake.
Bogdan B — Google review
No drones allowed. So I don’t know how people get the arial shots. Guttenburg print press shop on site where you can customize your own print. Honey shop where you can have a honey tasting. And a fine dining restaurant where, if you reserve, can have free entrance to castle included. The castle is a fantastic vantage point to see and photograph Bled Island. However if you go late in the afternoon the sun will be in your face and the island will be in the dark.
G. C — Google review
I walked up to Bled Castle from a bath by Lake Bled. It took around 10 minutes and was mostly smooth gravel or stairs, very easy to navigate (some people were going up with prams). The castle itself is amazing. You pay to enter (16 euros at the date of my visit) and can go to various viewpoints, the museum and buy drinks and snacks to enjoy overlooking the lake. Although in peak summertime, I arrived around 8:30 (it opens at 8am) and it was so quiet meaning I could take all the pictures I wanted, wander around, and grab the best seat to chill for a few hours.
Charlotte M — Google review
Brilliant views of lake Bled, there is a small very old wine shop where you can do wine tasting and also buy unique great wines from the region. Bottled right in front of you by a really friendly host who has great stories to tell. Lovely wine too. There are Cafés and restaurants if you want to grab a quick bite. Parking is right below the castle. The views alone are worth the price of the ticket

Soteska Vintgar, discovered in 1891, is a 1.6-km gorge with a 500-m span of bridges and galleries. It's a popular spot that can get crowded with tourists, but it's worth the visit. You can even bike there from Bled in about 25 minutes. The wooden walkway crosses over the rapids of the Radovna river for almost a mile, offering stunning views in all weather conditions.
The gorge is wonderful, path is well maintained and secure (you need to wear a helmet). Please be aware that access is regulated via an online ticket service (you can also buy a ticket at the Parking 1 but not at the entrance!). They let you in exactly (!) at the minute printed on your ticket, not a single minute earlier (we tried). The gorge is 1.6 km and easy, the way back to the entrance is a lot longer. You have the choice of either a mountain path (alpine) or a more covered one (forest) which is also slightly shorter. We took the forest one as the sun was strong, a good choice though notice that the last half of the way back is without cover to protect yourself from the sun. All in all a worthy trip. Park a Parking 1 for free as the parking at the entrance costs 10 Euros otherwise!
Andreas W — Google review
Amazing experience but plan ahead! Vintgar Gorge is absolutely stunning and definitely worth a visit! I highly recommend buying your ticket online in advance, it saves a lot of time. If you’re coming by car, parking is free, but be careful: the first parking lot is paid and doesn’t belong to the gorge. Drive a bit further to the second parking area, where staff will guide you where to park. From there, an electric shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes and takes you directly to the gorge entrance (cars are not allowed beyond this point, only motorcycles or bikes). ⚠️ Important: your ticket is only valid for the 20-minute time slot shown on it, the gate opens only during that time! 💧 There’s also a free restroom available at the entrance. All in all, very well organized and the nature is breathtaking, a must-see when visiting Bled! 🇸🇮💚

Nice atmosphere and worth of visiting. Tickets required. If bought in advance through the internet, you can park directly at the entrance. If you want to buy tickets on site, you need to drive couple km back to the central parking where the ticket office is located. From central parking free shuttle would drive you at the entrance...

We did the full round trip at Soteska Vintgar and loved it. From Bled we took the bus to the Vintgar starting point, and after the walk we returned to Bled with the same bus - included in the ticket price. Tickets for the trip can be bought online. Buses run every 15–20 minutes, and you can also start from the Vintgar parking if you come by car. The whole experience took around 3 hours. The trail goes along the river, through the forest and meadows. The gorge is stunning, with wooden paths above crystal-clear water and the sound of the river all around. Peaceful, fresh, and absolutely worth the visit.
Despina L — Google review
Very beautiful gorge! We took the guided tour which is available everyday at 4 pm. Highly recommend taking this tour if you would like to listen and understand a bit of the history of the gorge. Our guide Domen was very kind and helpful. He took us through the longest but most beautiful trail through the gorge. The trail has a bit of an incline climb but the absolutely worth the view if you are up for a little hike. He also got some Slovenian herbal tea for us to have after the hike which was very thoughtful 😊

A truly beautiful gorge. We were here in October and it was wonderfully peaceful. The gorge is truly stunning, well worth the effort. We explored the gorge with our guide, "Jan," and it's highly recommended! Jan is an experienced, enthusiastic, and friendly guide. He led us through the Vintgar Gorge and shared many interesting stories along the way. Jan also had a good understanding of the group's needs. We had a Fantastic day! Hvala Jan
Luc C — Google review
Most beautiful hike (intermediate) we did in the area. Views are mesmerizing and there are options for a small and a big one. Can walk across the forest or along the river on the way back.
Nishtha S — Google review
The gorge is beautiful and a great experience, also for children. It’s important to spend some time reading the website beforehand to understand how to get there, the different route options, and other important details. It’s a very organized site, and preparation really helps to make the most of the visit. For families – you can pick up a booklet with activity accessories for kids at the entrance booth. Most of the activities are set along the return trail through the forest and the scenic viewpoint over the valley pn the way back. Our kids (ages 9 and 6) absolutely loved this experience! At the end, they received a small souvenir. We completed the trail in about two and a half hours and walked fairly quickly because we were worried about missing the last bus back to the parking area at the end of the day (buses run until 20:00, then shuttle vans until 21:00 – we visited in July). On the way back, as you exit the forest, there’s a restaurant with a well-maintained playground. It looks like a great place to stop, but unfortunately, we didn’t have time because we were in a rush.

Minimundus, established in 1958, is a must-visit tourist destination featuring over 150 intricately crafted models of world landmarks set in a lush park. The attention to detail in the designs, made from various materials like marble and sandstone, accurately simulates famous structures such as the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, and Statue of Liberty.
We visited this place around 10AM on a Sunday and there were still enough available spaces for parking. They have a lot of miniature attractions around the world but there isn't a single one from their neighboring country, Slovakia, such a pity. Anyway, the facilities are good. There are toilets, restaurants, and benches where you can get some rest. The ticket is not cheap but worth it. A family could stay the whole day because there is no time limit and there are a lot of things to see.

I must say I was quite impressed by this place. It's not very big, but it's really beautiful. The tickets are affordable and, if you're in Klagenfurt, I think it's worth seeing. There's also a coffee shop inside if you want to have a drink or something to eat. I highly recommend it!

We had a really nice trip. We went around the world in three hours and had a fantastic time. We all enjoyed it, my husband and I, but also our children. The weather was warm and sunny so we were really lucky to walk around the park, enjoy and take pictures. This is my big recommendation for all parents because it is guaranteed to be a good, beautiful and useful time. The park is excellently and creatively done, there is an inner and outer part of Minimundus as well as a big wheel. There is also a gift shop with souvenirs and a restaurant where we had lunch.

Nice experience. Big free parking in front. Adult ticket was 21€. The park is not too big, not too small. You need 2 to 3 hours to see everything. The mini replicas are very detailed. The plants, flowers and grass are all curated in a way to fit into context of the minimundus. Many of the replicas are animated... mini trains travel around, crains loading containers on cargo ship, wind mills, water mills, space shuttle... everything moves. Really nice. There is also a bar and restaurant inside if you get thirsty or hungry and a panoramic wheel if you are not affraid of hights. Recommended.

The models are so nicely maintained, and the entire park is designed to be easily accessible and fun for all ages. I highly recommend carving out some time for this unique experience—it’s the perfect way to spark curiosity and learn about global architecture and geography!

What a novelty! Really fascinating especially because they use original materials as much as possible. The detail is incredible and I appreciate the informative signage and moving parts - for example an elevator in the Eiffel Tower and a space shuttle “launch”. Walked around for about an hour with a friend and enjoyed the sunshine. Almost no one else there on a weekday.

Wörthersee, located in Klagenfurt, Carinthia, is a popular destination known for its stunning blue-green waters and breathtaking sunsets. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as swimming, boating, and cycling around the lake. The area also offers a picturesque countryside with small farms producing agricultural goods. Additionally, the charming village of Micheldorf is just a short distance from the lake, adding to the allure of this scenic region.
We visited Wörthersee during New Year's holidays. The Velden city is small, nice decorated with lights, cafes are open in the evening, hot wine and apple pie are delicious there ☺️

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing place for relaxation and nature lovers! We spent a few peaceful days at Wörthersee and absolutely loved it. The water is crystal clear with beautiful turquoise tones, and the surroundings are breathtaking – calm, clean, and surrounded by mountains. There are plenty of quiet spots to relax, swim, or take a walk along the shore. Perfect for couples, families, or anyone looking to unwind in nature. Highly recommended – we would love to come back again!

Here are 2 of the best trails around: 1. Wörthersee Rundwanderweg • Distance: 55 kilometers • Difficulty: Moderate • Duration: 12-14 hours (can be split over multiple days) This is the most famous trail around Wörthersee, circling the entire lake. The trail offers breathtaking views of the lake from various vantage points and passes through charming villages such as Velden, Pörtschach, and Maria Wörth. You can explore forests, hills, and lakeside paths. The trail is well-marked and can be done in stages, making it accessible for all levels. 2. Pyramidenkogel Trail • Distance: 10 km • Difficulty: Moderate • Duration: 3-4 hours This trail leads to the Pyramidenkogel, a 100-meter-high wooden observation tower that offers 360-degree views of Wörthersee and the surrounding region. The hike starts in Reifnitz and takes you through scenic forests before reaching the summit. The ascent is a bit challenging, but the panoramic views from the top make it worth the effort. You can also take an elevator down after exploring the tower.

A turquoise blue lake, mountain views and lush green nature. Wörthersee is a place which makes you to feel relaxed from the beginning. I think the only problem is that all the lakesides are surrounded by private beaches and hotels. However, there are lakeside locations that you can access for free. Especially Velden is an ideal town for having a walk and having a nice meal.

Beautiful place where you can enjoy a clean lake view with a walking track at one side. Lots of water sports activities and boat cruises are also available but only during summer. In winter everything stands still except 2-3 restaurants. Laghi di Fusine, a stunning pair of alpine lakes, is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers. Nestled in the quiet wonder of the Dolomites, these neighboring lakes offer picturesque views and serene surroundings. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a leisurely stroll, Laghi di Fusine provides an ideal setting to immerse yourself in Friuli's natural beauty.
Amazing lake to visit for a day or two. It can get quite busy during the holidays but with some patience you can still get it.

Two very beautiful lakes with a lot of hiking opportunities. The trails going around the lakes to required sure footedness and good shoes, there are a lot of tree trunks and rocks/lose stones. Dog friendly and several options for food and drinks. You pay €5 for a full day to park.
Amber D — Google review
I visited the Laghi di Fusine recently and it was one of the most peaceful and scenic places I’ve seen. The water is unbelievably clear and emerald-turquoise — you can easily see stones and plant life beneath the surface — and the whole scene is framed by the dramatic, snow-topped Julian Alps (you get sweeping views of Mangart in the background). The loop trail around the upper lake is an easy, well-marked walk (about 2 km for the circular route) with benches and viewpoints where you can stop and soak it in. In autumn the trees are changing colour, the ducks glide calmly across the water, and the setting feels quietly majestic — a perfect spot to slow down and recharge.

Such an amazing place!!!!! I was realy looking forward to visiting this place and it was worth all the long way. You have to pay to park there, but it is an amazing place to visit. HIGHLY recommended. You feel like in a windows desktop wallpaper.

The landscape is very beautiful and you get two lakes in one visit😍 I can defenetly recomand it!

We planned spontaneously to visit the lake and walk around. It's always beautiful in sunny days. Nice clean water surrounded by trees. From villach it took around 38min drive. There are three parking spots. One is just before the entrance and 2 after the entrace.we paid 5eurro to entrance for our car. We parked in just 50min from entrace. And enjoy nice walk. Even if you have one hour you would manage one round along the lake. If you have more time can visit both lake.

Amazing clear blue lake in the Julian Apls with great views of the mountains and greenery all around. Brilliant view of the Italian side of Mangart. There is an entry charge to visit the lake, it's not much but we didn't know about it. Parking was easy by the side of the road next to the lake. There toilets and cafés around the lake. The views are amazing. You cannot swim in the lake!! We didn't know and there are no signs saying no swimming. We had 2 police officer type people telling us and a few others to get out of the lake, luckily they were really polite and understanding so they informed us about the no swimming rule and said it's ok this time as it was the first time. We just saw 2 other people in the lake swimming so thought it was ok. You can rest a row boat and row on the lake which is a good option. The rowing boats were pretty but made of metal which didn't feel right so we didn't do that. Good for a stop over if you are in Bovec.
Gaurav G — Google review
It is a very very very beautiful and peaceful place!!! I took a train from Trieste to Tarvisio Boscoverde and walked along the bike paths to the lake!!! Almost like 10km!! Next time I’ll try with the bike! And I thought it’s forbidden to swim in the lake, but yes you can!!! I came for the NO BORDER MUSIC FESTIVAL! If you love nature, hiking, biking, and music, 100% recommended to come!! You won’t regret! But maybe bring some water with you, because the water from the fountain is not drinkable.

Functional rooms in a trendy budget hotel with a bar & a sauna, plus free breakfast.
Tomorrow is my last day of a week here as a solo female skiier. Had the best holiday. The staff have all been wonderful. Professional, and genuinely caring and interested in my day. My room was great, excellent cleaning each day. Loved the outdoor pool and spa. Food was amazing (and the wine) Made some great friends. Would highly recommend.
Alison W — Google review
The hotel has an excellent location right next to the Millennium Express cable car, perfect for hiking and mountain activities. Breakfast and dinner were tasty and offered a good variety of fresh dishes. However, the hotel feels more like a hostel than a 4-star property — cheap partitions, creaky doors, and an inconvenient bathroom layout with the toilet separate from the sink. Staff were mixed: some were very kind and helpful, while others were uninterested or even pushy, insisting on drinks when we declined. The surroundings are disappointing — the access road and parking are unpaved, with no benches outside. Tropolach offers almost no evening entertainment beyond the hotel bar. The worst part was the chaos in the pool and lobby areas. Although we didn’t book an adults-only hotel, children were screaming and playing noisily, especially in the pool, without any supervision to maintain order. Such disorder is unacceptable for a hotel with a not-so-cheap price tag. Overall, great location and food, but the hotel needs better maintenance and management to meet 4-star standards.

Simply the very best, right next to the cable cars and bike/ski rental! Pool and spa area are amazing, food was impeccable and the reception staff were all unbelievably helpful! I could not recommend this hotel enough to everyone!

Having been twice here during this year I can surely say that staying at this hotel was a wonderful experience. It is family friendly, super clean and the food is delicious. There are different hotel related activities you can do so we had a lot of fun. Compliments to Dario at the front desk for being informative and catering to our every need. Also to housekeeping for keeping everything neat and clean. A satisfied guest who will definitely come back again.

We spent a week here in August as a family of 4. We loved our stay. The hotel has all the comforts, it's clean and the food is very good. We enjoyed the pool, the activities and our kids loved the amazing Karolina and Mathias at the baby club. The position is incredible, right in front of the Millenium Express and close to lakes and bike trails. The rooms are a little small. We stayed in a suite and felt a little cramped. I think a hotel in this category must provide a fridge, particularly in the summer months and in my opinion having the guests pay for purified water at dinner is a bit of a faux pas considering the price. The breakfast and dinner buffets are delicious. The food was fresh and well prepared, in particular the "antipasti" from Giusy. The service provided was very good. We appreciated our server Gabriel. The hotel provided a cake for our daughter's birthday with just a day of notice and it was delicious and it made her happy.

Room was a bit small, a 1,60m bed with aapproximately meter by meter shower, cabinet, small desk with free of charge tea/coffee bags and still and sparkling water. .... small but super great because there is a pre-room to put your shoes, laguage, jackets, skies and there is a ski boot dryer. There is almost a million variations of food for breakfast, and the dinners were great too. Location is top when skiing, because there is gondola like 200m away from the hotel.
Maša R — Google review
Just back from a week in the Arena Franz Ferdinand, what a fantastic hotel! I paid for the slightly larger room which was very comfortable. I loved the storage area at the front of the room. I used it to keep my rucksack, boots and climbing gear away from the main living area. The boot dryer was VERY welcome after a day of torrential rain. The room is a slightly strange set up. From the corridor, you can see through in to the storage area which is also where the toilet is situated. Bare that in mind when you need to go! Also the shower cubicle opens straight out in the bedroom/living area. Fine if you're on your own but if you're travelling with another person, make sure you know them well enough :-) The rooms are very cosy and comfortable, towels were big and fluffy as was the robe. Great to have a kettle in the room and a very good selection of tea, coffee, decaf and herbal tea which, along with a jug of water, was replenished daily. It would have been nice to have a fridge in the room too. I stayed half board. Breakfast was amongst the best I've seen in a hotel. Wide range of coffee (complete with syrups, various cups/mugs, hot and cold milk) cheese & hams, cereal, bead, sausage, omelettes made to order. The juicing machine was an interesting addition too. I had a very early checkout but I had a breakfast of sandwiches and fruits ready for me at reception. Evening meals were listed in the morning news (available at breakfast) They offered a good choice and were always tasty and filling. The plates there are huge! It's a buffet, just help yourself to as much as you like. The waiters take your drink order. There's a good choice and prices are fair. You can then either pay on the night by cash or card or charge everything to your room. Staff are lovely. Attentive, quick and friendly. Some can't speak English too well and I've only a basic level of German, but that was never an issue. And the climbing wall! Wow!! Loved it!! Wish all hotels had one :-) Finally, the +Card is so useful. I used it several times for free access to the cable car and chairlifts. You are given it at check in and it gives free access to transport and various attractions. It makes for a very cheap holiday. So, in summary, a great hotel in a beautiful location!

Excellent experience. A wonderful view and a place full of mountains, trees and breathtaking nature. I recommend taking only the zipline without the roller coaster. Slow and low in altitude. Regardless, the experience is much less scary than I expected. The zipline is a bit slow, but the view is worth it. They are very careful about safety and there is a guide at every station. You also get a kind of "passport" that they sign. It’s kinda cool. One of the most beautiful views I've ever seen.
Ruth B — Google review
Really feeling like flying with both a fantastic view and some thrill. Great experience and very competent operators.
Niels-Aage L — Google review
Looks more scary than it is. Anyway I can cordialy recommend this adrenalín which is worth of money. Hidden benefit is the bus ride up the station. The driver is crazy but skilled enough to make you wet while driving up almost on the edge of the road 😎
Lukáš Š — Google review
Must try experience. First timer. Didn't have time to look around during the fly. To exciting, adrenaline high, tiers in my eyes ( glasses recommended). Would go second time for sure. More relaxed now. My equipment was put by the instructor the wrong way . Noticed just before my fly. Double check as only one instructor did the job for 20 people. Staff is nice and polite with adults and children.
Saule S — Google review
It was fun but, I wasn't allowed to ride with the flying coaster because of overweight, even so I didn't get any refund. There is no possibility to buy tickets on site, you can only book online. What if you don't have any scale in your hotel room? I payed 26 euro more for nothing. I think it's not a customer friendly service.
Csaba B — Google review
The experience was absolutely amazing, excellent, and fun! At first, I only bought the Zipline ticket and skipped the Flying Coaster, but once I got there and started enjoying it so much, I decided to go for the full experience and paid for the Flying Coaster at the check-in counter. All the staff were extremely kind, helpful, and explained everything clearly. However, the older lady at the exit (responsible for the photos) was quite rude. When we asked her about our photos because we wanted to print them, she told us to go outside, check the screen, and come back with the number. When I returned and said I couldn’t find our photo, she was very unfriendly and said, “I don’t know your photo number, and I don’t have time to look for it!” Aside from this one staff member, the entire experience was wonderful and definitely worth it.
Rahaf S — Google review
When entering the web site they put at the end on the main page, after! The purchase button that there's a weight limit. A normal person will never see this. We just lost a ton of money and precious time. Also the lady at the counter was no where close to being understanding. These guys are not worth your money
Eldad S — Google review
Zipline is great adventure. Strongly recommended. It looks more terrifying than it is in reality when you are on the ride. The roller coaster after that is terrible however. I advise against it. It pulls you with force into unpredictable directions and you need all your arms to counter it. However the kids liked it.

The Hallstatt Charnel House, also known as the Beinhaus or Bone House, is a small ossuary located in the grounds of the 15th-century Catholic Pfarrkirche in Hallstatt. Since 1600, bones have been exhumed from the overcrowded graveyard and neatly stacked inside the ossuary. The skulls are painted with decorative designs and names of their former owners, offering insight into their lives.
A very interesting tradition. Skulls are well protected and kept there. The entrance fee is really low and also info page's translation covers most of the languages.

Hallstatt Charnel House (Beinhaus) @ Hallstatt 💀⛪🇦🇹 📍 Beside the Catholic Church of Hallstatt The Charnel House is one of Hallstatt’s most unusual and historic sites, famous for its painted skulls and neatly arranged bones, a centuries-old tradition born out of limited burial space in the village. We passed by during an evening walk, but it was already closed for the day. Even so, the area around the Catholic Church was peaceful and atmospheric, with the lake shimmering in the fading light. From here, we followed the path around the church and back toward the village, enjoying the quiet streets now free of the daytime crowds. Even if you can’t go inside, the location offers wonderful views over Hallstätter See and a sense of the deep history of this tiny alpine town. 🧭 Tip: The Charnel House usually closes in the late afternoon, so visit earlier if you want to see the interior. For a different kind of charm, come in the evening for the peaceful walk and lake views.
Quing_刘妈妈 — Google review
Unfortunately it was closed when we visited there, so we couldn’t get in. However the view was so fantastic so I’d recommend to go there even if you can not enter the house.

A truly unique and fascinating experience! The Beinhaus at St. Michael’s Church is unlike anything I’ve seen before. The collection of over 600 decorated skulls, many with names and intricate designs, offers a haunting yet respectful glimpse into Hallstatt’s history and traditions. At the entrance, a very kind gentleman sells tickets and hands out informative leaflets in multiple languages, making the visit even more engaging. It’s small but well-preserved, and the setting by the church adds to the atmosphere. A must-visit for anyone interested in culture and history. Respectful photography is allowed, but be mindful of the sacred nature of the site. Highly recommend!

A small but unforgettable stop in St. Michael’s Chapel: over a thousand skulls, many hand-painted, reflect a centuries-old tradition from when the cemetery ran out of space. It feels peaceful, not scary. Entry is €2—cash only—and the visit takes about 10–15 minutes
Dimitri B — Google review
2euro/person to enter the house, it's small but good to see many skulls and bones put on the wall. Worth for a visit while you are in Hallstatt.
NICK N — Google review
Incredibly atmospheric old cemetery by the church. A wonderful place with a view from above on Hallstatt. Around the church square, you'll find a mass of narrow streets and labyrinths that will take you on a journey through time.

What an original and special place ! The lady named Margaret (I hope I write it well, otherwise I'm sorry!) who welcomes you is so nice and friendly!! She gives you a paper with the history of this place which is really interesting. (Available in a lot of languages). It is in the middle of the cemetery which is beautiful. Just across you have a pretty chapel too. One of my favourite places in Hallstatt.

SchafbergBahn

SchafbergBahn is a charming railway that offers a delightful journey to the summit of Schafberg Mountain. The bright red vintage trains provide an excellent photo opportunity as they chug up and down the mountain. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views from the top and explore various pathways while savoring refreshments at the cafe with outdoor seating. It's advisable to pre-purchase tickets online and select boarding and returning times in advance, as well as being prepared for a 30-minute ride each way.
A nice experience! Pricey (€56.50 for a round trip per person), but definitely worth it. It takes around 35 minutes to get to the peak. Beware of usually colder weather there. Also, the tickets are sold for a specific departure time (return trip can be re-booked at a terminal in the restaurant on the mountain). Along the road you’ll see picturesque countryside, beautiful hills and, if you’re lucky enough, some wildlife. Restaurants uphill are pricey, so, if you are tight on a budget, get some food with you.

Unique cogwheel railway to fantastic mountain-top views. Cafe and restaurant at the top and also a kiosk (cash only, very reasonable). Trains are booked so that everyone had a seat - afternoon trains were fully unbooked, so maybe go up later if you want to avoid the crowds.
Mexikoi — Google review
👍🏻 Great experience and I think it is the best option compared to other trains in Austria. 👍🏻 The train route up and down is beautiful, allowing you to see the entire Wolfgang Lake. 👍🏻 Upon reaching the summit we were able to see very impressive views of Wolfgang Lake and other nearby lakes. ⚠️ It takes 35 minutes for the train to climb to the top and also descend the same time 35 minutes. ⚠️ In my opinion the train is a great experience for children more than adults. ⚠️ There is an overpriced adult ticket for €56 while the child ticket is €17 We request those in charge of the train management to reduce the price of the adult ticket to not exceed €35 The price is a bit reasonable. ⚠️ It is preferable to book tickets at the counter because there are discount offers because I booked online and found out that I have a discount card from the hotel, but I did not benefit from it because I actually paid. ⚠️ Restaurants and toilets are available on top. ⚠️ Always try to sit on the side overlooking Lake Wolfgang. ⚠️ Scan the ticket code on the parking lot when the final price appears and you will get a special discount, I know this by chance from the counter ticket and they don't tell anyone about it. ⚠️ Don't rush down from the top as many do, try to spend an hour to an hour and a half there to have fun and walk & For hiking lovers, I recommend staying from two to two and a half hours because there is a very beautiful and exciting trail on the edge of the mountain. ⚠️ Electronic Portals For going up and down programmed on the time set so it is not optional and you should pay attention to it. ⚠️ The location of the station is located in the Wolfgang Center and you can enjoy a walking tour that will have great views and many options of cafes and restaurants.
KHALIFA A — Google review
The trip was really great! 🌄 We bought train tickets and went up, stopping at the first station to hike to the top (about an hour’s walk). The trail is quite challenging and better suited for experienced hikers, but the views along the way are absolutely stunning. At the summit, there are breathtaking views and a nice restaurant, though a bit pricey. The place is suitable for families, but not if you plan to stop halfway and hike. We took a return ticket after about 3 hours – that’s a bit long if you’re not doing the hike, so keep that in mind. The attraction itself is quite expensive, but it’s definitely a special experience worth doing once.

Longest cog railway in Austria. And needed during the ride up the mountains. Very well maintained. Nice hall for the tickets. The ladies at the counter were patient n the condescending manner, possibly with gritted teeth. The website is very good with options. However you need to be very precise with when you want to travel and come back which we couldn’t do as we were driving and wanted to flexible. Anyway don’t let my comments detract from you not taking this railway through beautiful countryside. I did meet someone at the top whom had walked up….. this would have been great too but the knees

Perched on a hilltop with commanding views of the city and the Alps, Fortress Hohensalzburg is an impressive 11th-century complex that draws in over 1.4 million visitors annually. To avoid the crowds, it's best to arrive early and take a glass funicular or embark on a steep 20-minute walk up Festungsgasse in the Old Town to reach this iconic landmark.
Great view but you need to pay extra to go to the tower (which we didn’t). Still absolutely worth visiting while you’re in Salzburg. You can skip the line if you buy or get tickets upfront (we got them from our hotel).

Very nice fortress overlooking the city of Salzburg. You get some magnificent view from up there. You also have the opportunity to got to the top of the fortress and get a full 360 degree view of the region. They have some nice museums and displays inside the fortress. Definitely worth it to spend some good amount of time. Even if you are here for short time, it would recommend 1.5hr just to walk through the entire area.

Bought the entrance and funicular train ticket and it's a enjoyable trip up the hill to the castle. Plenty of stuff to see in the fortress and also great view of Salzburg city from the top of the castle. Really beautiful scenery and we don't want to leave but had to rush to find the train station as we need to catch the 12pm Hallstatt tour.

We visited the Fortress Hohensalzburg and had a memorable experience. We didn’t know about the funicular to go up, so we walked all the way — a great cardio workout and a nice way to enjoy the surroundings. 🏰 The fortress itself is beautiful and very well preserved, offering a fascinating glimpse into Salzburg’s history. The museum inside is truly impressive, with excellent exhibits that make the visit even more enriching. 🌄 The highlight, however, is the breathtaking view from the top. Looking out over Salzburg and the surrounding mountains is simply unforgettable. ✅ Overall, Fortress Hohensalzburg is a must-see attraction in Salzburg. Whether you take the funicular or walk up, the combination of history, architecture, and stunning scenery makes it well worth the visit.

Truly beautiful, must see spot in Salzburg. Definitely recommend the panaromic view from the fortress tower. We unfortunately hadn’t visited neither the museum nor the armory, but we enjoyed it anyway. We really appreciated the stand where we could get for ourselves some Glühwein and simply enjoy the beautiful night view.

We thought there would be more spaces that were open for tours, but the tour was still good. The restaurant in the fortress was great! Service was great as well as the food and we enjoyed as much as we could eat as the portion sizes were large.

Amazing castle and exhibition. Everything is modern, interactive and multisensory. Truly a nice example of the basic of how exhibitions today should look like. Sights & Landmarks
Salzburg Cathedral, with its twin spires and baroque-style architecture, is a monumental symbol of the city's religious significance and historical wealth. The cathedral houses a museum that displays sacred treasures, adding to its allure. The building has undergone several reconstructions over the centuries, with the current structure showcasing early Baroque ecclesiastical architecture at its finest. Visitors are captivated by the towering facade and turquoise domes of this 17th-century marvel.
The inside of this cathedral is absolutely stunning. The walls and ceilings are bathed in rich and intricate detail and the ceiling has eye catching murals and statues. It truly is something to see and worth a bit of your time in Salzburg. It doesn’t take long to just pop in and admire. I would encourage visitors to wear appropriate clothing and act appropriately considering this is a church.

Beautiful cathedral!! Entrance fee is a modest 5 Euros. Once inside be sure to check out the underground in the far back left (facing the altar). Also there’s a giant metal structure where Mozart was baptized as a child (see in my photos)

Beautiful large cathedral with high ceiling and open space. We got lucky as a small group of musicians were performing which allowed the music to echo throughout the cathedral which made for a peaceful ambiance. I would highly recommend visiting this place.

Just amazing! The Cathedral has a unique architecture and we also booked ourselves for an organ concert. Every day at noonafter the 12 o'clock bells there is an organ concert. It's preferable you book your place. The player changed the organs and during half hour he played different pieces to three different organs. A must do activity in Salzburg.

The Salzburg Cathedral is a breathtaking Baroque masterpiece in the heart of the Old Town. Its grand façade, elegant dome, and beautifully decorated interior create a peaceful and inspiring atmosphere. The cathedral’s historic organ, once played by Mozart, and its stunning frescoes make it a true cultural gem. Surrounded by the charming Domplatz and views of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, it’s a must-see landmark that perfectly captures Salzburg’s beauty and history.

Totally worth the time to collect oneself inside out of the cold for a few private moments in prayer. An amazing dome and frescos are amazing showing of the Passion of Christ. - Jesus, show me the path of life!

An absolutely beautiful church! This stands out from many of the other churches we’d seen because of the stunning black and white design that makes the paintings pop. The organ was also beautiful. There is an entrance fee but the discount with the Salzburg card brings it down to €3.5 per person.

Mirabell Palace, a 17th-century architectural gem located in Salzburg, is renowned for its ornamental gardens and opulent interior. The palace was featured in the iconic film 'The Sound of Music,' with its gardens serving as the backdrop for memorable scenes. Built by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich in 1606 and later redesigned in Baroque style, the palace boasts exquisite interior decorations including stucco and wall paintings.
Mirabell Palace is absolutely stunning and a must-see in Salzburg. The palace itself is elegant, but the real highlight is the Mirabell Gardens — beautifully maintained with colorful flower beds, sculptures, and fountains that make it feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. The view looking through the gardens towards the fortress is breathtaking and perfect for photos. It’s free to enter the gardens, and they’re easy to walk through, so it’s a great stop even if you’re short on time. If you visit in spring or summer, the flowers are in full bloom and the atmosphere is magical. Music lovers will also appreciate that some of the “Sound of Music” scenes were filmed here. Highly recommend visiting in the morning before the crowds arrive — it’s peaceful, romantic, and unforgettable.

The gardens are magnificent. Symmetry and colors are combined in beautiful compositions. Access to the gardens is free. The palace itself is also free, but there is nothing to see. Access is only to the staircase, which is magnificent, but it is disappointing that there is no access to the halls. We only managed to peek into one.

It's a really beautiful and popular place in Salzburg that everyone have to see. The gardens are stunning and you can enjoy sitting around and taking photos. There are also classical music concerts there, which are definitely a must-see if you love this genre!

Even in late October, without all the flowers, the gardens are well kept and beautiful. I’m a huge fan of the dwarf garden! Very fun, though not PC (bc history is not PC) statues in there! Worth a walk through and FREE. The only part of the palace that was accessible was the marble staircase area—I believe it had a real name. Pretty, but the gardens are better!

Beautiful palace with stunning gardens. Easy to walk around and free to enter. The views with the flowers, statues, and Salzburg backdrop are picture-perfect. Peaceful spot to relax, take photos, or just enjoy the scenery. Great for a short, calming visit.

Nice walk around the gardens with the memorable views of the Sound of Music. There were three weddings going on at the same time. Seems the palace was closed for visitors today. Loaded with tourists parties there for the same reason as us no doubt.

Huge garden with fountain, it's a pity we visited there in winter, I didn't see the red flowers 💐chill vibe, people walk around enjoying quiet moments

Even though it was rainy a lot, the sculptures at the outskirts of the palace and the gardens inside were pretty. The cobblestone ground was a bit swampy and uncomfortable to walk, but anyway I bet it'd be fascinating to revisit there on sunny days.

Neues Schloss Herrenchiemsee

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Neues Schloss Herrenchiemsee, located on the Herreninsel in Chiemsee, was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria and modeled after Versailles. The palace, which began construction in 1878, is a grand homage to absolutist monarchy. Despite being intended as a residence for the king, he spent only 10 days there and was rarely seen. The palace's design reflects Ludwig's romantic obsessions and vivid imagination.
Absolutely stunning Castle built by King Ludwig II located on a beautiful island in Bavaria. The palace tour we took was amazing. Our tour was in English and our guide was terrific. Extremely knowledgeable on the history of the castle. She was very friendly and spoke perfect English. The castle rooms were spectacular. The two bedrooms are out of this world in terms of its decor. It is amazing that 2/3 of this castle are still not completed. King Ludwig barely stayed here before he died. The castle grounds are perfectly manicured. Several beautiful fountains. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The walk around the grounds was very peaceful. We took the train from the main train station and the boat across to the castle. We had a perfect day out and loved our visit. Highly recommend visiting this majestic castle.

Spectacular visit to this Schloss -- really needs half a day. The ferry ride across the See is pleasant and calm, the breezes are refreshing on a warm summer day. Great to learn the history and experience the charm of this beautiful setting.

Fabulous palace on an island in Lake Chiemsee. This is a great place to see the extravagance of Ludwig II. It offers a peak into his obsession with French royalty and his lavish tastes. The palace and gardens are fantastic. (No photos allowed inside, which is a bummer.)

Magnificent, and rich interiors. If the king hadn't lived in his dream project for more than a handful days, so does it not deserve to be visited more than once in my life time. Palace guided Tour is about 40 minutes. No photography allowed strictly! This is what I didn't like the most. It's worth the hype and not worth the hype at the same time. Museum is also interesting visit

Palace looks big, but only 1/3 of it was finished and is available for visitors. Removing 1 star for a strict no-pictures policy. The mountain view is beautiful ❤️

Lake Helen Kim Palace is a magnificent palace modeled after the Palace of Versailles in France. It is a Baroque building. In winter, flocks of geese and ducks graze on the lake, and strolling through the woods on the island offers stunning views of the vibrant autumn foliage.

You have to buy entry Ticket to see the interior Palace with a guide. Taking picture inside of d palace it's not allowed, just outside it's possible. You have to pay extra when u need to go to the 🚻 & it was not cheap!

This is a really pretty palace and a great history lesson for people who don’t know much about kind Ludwig II. The palace itself is whacky and lavish and the gardens, fountains, and exterior are beautiful and scenic. The island has some great walking paths and is a fun outing. The boat there and back also has pretty views and runs fairly consistently. Keep in mind that the price of the boat and the palace entrance/tour are a separate price, the palace ticket does give you access to quite a bit though. The only reason it’s a 4 star review is that you can’t take pictures inside the palace which is a little disappointing but not a huge deal. Overall this is a great stop but does take some time.

Tegernsee is a stunning glacial tongue-basin alpine lake covering 3.5 square miles, located in the Bavarian Alps in southern Germany. It's surrounded by spa towns and hiking routes, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and families. Visitors can enjoy wellness activities, picturesque landscapes, and a variety of dining options. The area includes resorts such as Tegernsee, Bad Wiessee, Kreuth, Gmund, and Rottach-Egern.
Very calm lake, especially in this Autumn season. Great location and plenty to explore around. The fun would sure have been doubled with a bicycle. If you have one, then definitely bring one. Several places around to disembark on a journey of your own. Many peaks to climb around as well!

We took the BRB train from Munich to Tegernsee Lake, which was an easy and comfortable trip that took about an hour. We went just for sightseeing without swimming or taking a boat. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. The lake and mountains create a stunning view that feels relaxing and refreshing. It’s a great place to walk around, sit by the water, and enjoy the calm atmosphere. Even without any activities, it was worth the visit. Highly recommend Tegernsee for anyone looking for a quiet escape from the city.

A Perfect Day Trip to Tegernsee – Nature, Adventure & Peace in One Place Taking the train from Munich to Tegernsee (RB 57) is an experience in itself. The journey is about an hour, but it feels like a scenic film , rolling green hills, charming Bavarian houses, and that magical moment when you first spot the shimmering blue lake from high above. Once you arrive, Tegernsee greets you with postcard-perfect views. The lakeshore is lined with elegant yachts gently swaying in the breeze, cozy cafes with outdoor seating where you can sip coffee while watching the sailboats, and peaceful beaches where the clear water sparkles under the sun. On a sunny day, the lake almost glows, making it perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or simply lying on the shore with a book. For those seeking a bit more excitement, Tegernsee offers plenty of water sports like kayaking, sailing, and stand-up paddling. And if you’re feeling adventurous, paragliding from the nearby mountains gives you a bird’s-eye view of the lake surrounded by the Alps. The whole area has a peaceful, rejuvenating atmosphere. It’s a blend of nature, clean alpine air, and just enough activity to keep you engaged. Whether you’re strolling along the promenade, exploring small shops, or enjoying the mountain backdrop from a sunny cafe terrace, there’s always something beautiful to take in. Bonus Tips for a Perfect Trip: 🕗 Go early morning, especially on weekends, to get a good seat for yoir friends/family. 🚆 Sit on the right side when heading towards Tegernsee for the best view of the lake from above; on the return journey, choose the left side for a repeat of the scenery. 🚌 There’s a bus service from Tegernsee Bahnhof that takes you to different spots around the lake. Divide your time wisely to see as many points as possible. Each corner of the lake has its own charm. Tegernsee is one of those places where time slows down, and you feel refreshed just by being there. Whether you come for sports, sightseeing, or simply peace and nature, it’s hard to leave without planning your next visit.

Located in the beautiful countryside of Upper Bavaria. The area offered a gorgeous setting, where it was tranquil and peaceful. You can just sit back and enjoy the scenery by embarking on a ferry ride during the Summer.

This is the most amazing place I have visited so far. Want to visit this mesmerizing deramy place again. I felt like, I was walking in a fairy tale movie set. Although camera can not do justice to the breathtaking beauty of this place, still tried to capture a bit.

Tegernsee is one of the most beautiful lakes and even places, I have ever seen and been to!! Small lake and town near to Munich, less than 2 hours by car and also you can get there with train very comfortably, during pandamic all the shops in a small town are close but there are many small local shops for dining and decorative stuffs. But we enjoy sightseeing, hiking, relaxing and we were lucky because it was sunny that day and it helped us to enjoy more. Definitely I will come back and stay there for couple of days in hotel, one fay was not enough for me !!
