Park forest Zlatni Rt, located about 2.5 km south of Rovinj city center, is a serene park with tall cedar and cypress trees, offering grassy picnic areas and opportunities for boating and swimming. The park also hosts the Adris 44Cup sailing cup organized by Sail La Vie and JK Maestral at the end of May.
A beautiful forest park with stunning paths for walking and cycling. The costal paths are shaded by pine trees wide with easy access to the crystal clear sea. There are many cafes to grab coffee and snacks. The most stunning scenery and all beautifully maintained. We hired bikes from RM.

Heaven 😇 Beautiful park forest by the sea. Natural rocky beaches mostly, few pebbles beaches and many little bays. For FKK lovers as well many nice places to enjoy, just search walking by the sea. All included: walking, biking, light hiking, swimming, running, relaxing with birds wind and waves. Yoga, meditation ... Peace ✌️ Rock climbing, but only with your equipment. Not for beginners. I'm in love with this place and it's just next to the city.
Milos J — Google review
I do really love this beach. Shame there's not more on offer in terms of food and facilities like shower/loo. It's otherwise beautiful. The one café only has some drinks and ham/cheese sandwich on offer and you have to pay a euro to use the loo. That's the downside.
Olivera G — Google review
Favourite place in Rovijn. I want to come back with a bike, but it's so nice on foot. It would be good if there were more restrooms, we didn't have one where we were swimming, it was a 15 min walk. But it's wild and natural, what we prefer.
Sarah J — Google review
I just love this place. From the campsite Polari to city center Rovinj it's about 4 km on foot on the gravel promenade all along the coastal line. Walk with occasional dip in the sea, finish with late luch or dinner in city center. 😍

St. Euphemia’s Church

Mentioned on

Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
The Church of St. Euphemia is a magnificent Baroque-style Catholic church constructed in 1736, located in the charming town of Rovinj. The church's standout feature is its impressive 60-meter tower, which provides panoramic views of the cityscape, including red rooftops, bustling streets, the port with ships and boats, and the picturesque marina filled with yachts.
The Church of St. Euphemia is truly one of the highlights of Rovinj. The architecture is magnificent — elegant Baroque design, beautiful details inside, and a facade that reflects timeless Venetian influence. Every corner of the church tells a story. It’s wonderfully located right by the sea, and the views are simply breathtaking. From the hilltop, you get a charming panorama of the Adriatic and the old town below. One of the best parts is climbing the bell tower. The stairs are a bit steep, but totally worth it for the incredible 360° view at the top! Also, the staff and volunteers at the church were extremely kind and helpful. They answered every question with a smile and made the visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended — peaceful, inspiring, and unforgettable.
Horia S — Google review
The most iconic landmark in Rovinj, the Church of Saint Euphemia, the patron saint of the city who is buried in the church. The church, high on a hill overlooking the old town, was completed in 1736 and was designed in the Venetian Baroque-style. The Bell Tower closely resembles Saint Marks in Venice. There is a statue of St. Euphemia at the top. Just below the church, there is a café overlooking the sea.
Francine L — Google review
The Church of St. Euphemia is without a doubt one of Rovinj’s crown jewels. Its Baroque architecture is both graceful and imposing, with a façade that proudly echoes Venetian artistry and an interior rich with detail and history. Every stone seems to carry a piece of the town’s story. Perched on a hilltop right by the sea, the setting is just as impressive as the church itself. From here, you can take in sweeping views of the Adriatic and the picturesque old town below. A visit is highly worthwhile — serene, inspiring, and a memory you’ll carry long after you leave.
Patrice O — Google review
The thing that stands out on Rovinj panorama is this Church with its tall bell tower. It's perched on top of the hill of Rovinj old town peninsula. A maze of old stone streets leads up to it with many interesting craft and art shops. Beware, these stones are pretty slippery even totally dry. Once up you're greeted with an elegant 18c Baroque Church with a white marble facade. During our visit there was a wedding which added to the atmosphere. Great views of Rovinj and Adriatic from up
Dejan B — Google review
The church is nice but nothing special. The tower visit is worthwhile experience. Going up the stairs is an adventure which keeps the old structure untouched. The panoramic views from the top of the tower are breathtaking.
Ido M — Google review
The Church of St. Euphemia is Rovinj’s most iconic landmark and absolutely worth a visit! The climb through the charming Old Town is rewarded with stunning views from the top, overlooking the sea and nearby islands. Inside, the church is peaceful and beautifully preserved, with rich history and impressive architecture. A must-see for anyone visiting Rovinj!
Kristina L — Google review
Cool view at the top of the tower, but it costs 4 euros per person(cash only) and the stairs are all worn out and very steep, keep that in mind that you need to have good condition and not be afraid of heights.
Max M — Google review
A very large church, elaborate interiors more reminiscent of Cathedral type spaces. Colorful and detailed in a way that draws the eye in many different directions. I took time to explore the interior before paying a small extra charge to climb to 60 metre tower. Soon rediscovered my fear of heights as I made my way up the narrow steps, every one of which you can see through to the flight below. The climb is worth it for the views from the top in all directions. Expect it to be busy, and to have to wait in turn for your perfect photo opportunity. Also be prepared to wait on the steps as others pass up and down.

The Euphrasian Basilica, a 6th-century Byzantine-style Episcopal basilica complex, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its well-preserved early Christian architecture and art. Named after the sponsoring bishop Euphrasius, this masterpiece of Byzantine art and architecture features stunning mosaics, frescoes, and intricate carvings. Its historical significance has put Porec on the tourist map as one of Croatia's most visited destinations.
Visited during the morning and it was really beautiful with no one around. This 6th-century UNESCO World Heritage site is a stunning example of early Byzantine architecture. The basilica's intricate mosaics, particularly in the apse, are among the finest in the world, depicting biblical scenes with extraordinary detail and vibrant colors. The basilica has been a place of Christian worship for over 1,500 years, making it not only an artistic marvel but also a site of deep historical and religious significance. Half price for students. Nice view of the sea from the walls too.

This was an amazing experience as you step through time from the Romans to the Byzantine period and all the way through the 16th century to today. It is an experience not to be missed. You feel directly in touch with history and the sense of the centuries in the church is palatable, making it a unique experience in today’s modern fast-paced life. I cannot recommend a visit to Porec anf the Basilica enough. I would go again.

We visited Poreč, a 2,000-year old Croatian city on the Istrian Peninsula influenced by Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian rule. It is known for its historic UNESCO World Heritage site, the Euphrasian Basilica complex, dating back to the 6th century. The complex showcases an amazing collection of mosaics housed in Byzantine-influenced architecture.
Francine L — Google review
Built in the 6th century, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the best-preserved examples of Byzantine art, this basilica is a must-visit.
Evren B — Google review
One of the oldest Basilica in the world. For the most part retained its original shape. The mosaic floor done in the 4th century can be seen. Just very fascinating! Worth of the visit!
Barbara S — Google review
The Euphrasian Basilica is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important examples of early Byzantine architecture in the Mediterranean. The tall, simple Romanesque-style bell tower seen in the photo is separate from the main basilica structure and can be accessed from a side street within the old town.

This was the first place we had food at in Porec. Very welcoming service, friendly, and delicious food. We had bruschetta and salads - it was lovely, fresh, and beautifully presented. The tartufata was amazing. Extra thanks to the waiter who was kind and made us feel very welcome!

This place is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the warm, inviting atmosphere—think cozy lighting, stylish decor, and just the right balance of lively energy and intimate charm. Whether you're on a date, catching up with friends, or enjoying a solo glass, it’s the perfect setting. The owner has clearly poured passion into every detail, curating a fantastic selection of wines that caters to both casual sippers and connoisseurs. I appreciated the thoughtful recommendations, including a few off-menu highlights that made the experience feel personalized. Speaking of service, the staff truly shines—knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely friendly and funny. They made me feel welcome without being overbearing, and their enthusiasm for the drinks and the food added to the fun. Very lively place with a lot of people, definitely the right place if you want to feel like you are in the middle of a lively scene. Food was good and the service was amazing. The only downside is that I would not recommend you to order the margaritas because they are not that good.

Great atmosphere, the salami on the plate is varied and very good, friendly waiters. This whole neighborhood with four bars (it doesn't really matter which one you go to ), which practically touch each other, gives this area a special feeling - I can highly recommend a visit...

Jama - Grotta Baredine

Caverns & Caves
Jama - Grotta Baredine, located in Istria, Croatia, has been open to visitors since 1995. This karst cave offers guided tours through its 132-meter deep stalactite formations and five impressive halls. The cave is home to the human fish, a unique species endemic to the area. Visitors can also enjoy vintage tractor and pottery exhibits as well as an eatery surrounded by olive trees and a vineyard.
Nice cave to visit with all the family. The guides are really gentle and they provide a lot of interesting information about the site, also in a funny way for children too. We spent there about 2 hours. Next to the entrance there is also a good bar that serves coffee, drinks in general and sandwiches. The parking is for free, so you have to pay only for the guided tour.
Luca P — Google review
Very interesting cave that goes down 60 meters. Lots of stalagmites, stalactites, columns and other mineral formed cave features. The guide was very easy to understand and funny. The highlight was the human fish (Olm/aquatic salamander) at the bottom. I was able to get some great pictures of it. There is plenty of free parking and it was easy to get to from Rovinj by car. There is also a cave museum as part of the entry and a café for food and drinks. Highly recommend.
Chris Y — Google review
Small, but beautiful. If you're in the area, great opportunity to take some very nice photos and see proteus in person. The girl at the cash register was wonderful, going above and beyond to orchestrate our visit (2 adults with a big dog that couldn't enter) and the formation of groups so that we can go one after the other with no waiting time nor overlap, so one person was with the dog while the other was in the cave, and neither had to wait for too long. My guide (Ana) was embodiment of patience and calm, effortlessly switching between languages and answering all the extra questions. Lighting showcases the best of mineral formations (a lamp strategically placed behind one of "elephant's ears", for example, shows a streak of red pigment within the otherwise milky white mineral). Steep and wet, not good for people on wobbly legs. Temperature inside the first 3 or 4 rooms actually a bit higher than the advertised 14°C; on a hot day it felt refreshing rather than cold. Plenty of parking under the shade of trees and large covered sitting area. Bar right next to the cave entrance, serves good coffee and real homemade lemonade.
Lucija Š — Google review
Very fascinating inside view of a very deep cave close to Poreč. The guide takes you deep down in the cave where you can even see an old. A blind axleottle like animal that lives only in the deep caves of this area.
Ved R — Google review
Grotto Baredine is a cave full of stagmites and stalactites. To enter the cave you need to join a guided tour, so probably worth checking in advance for the times of tours in your preferred language. There are approximately 270 steps down into the cave as you move through each of the five chambers with your guide. The cave is pretty wide, but some of the steps/staircases are steep and wet so care should be taken. At the bottom of the cave live two olm salamanders. Worth visiting.
Nick — Google review
Great and funny guided tour, not too heavy, not exausting, especially in combination with old tractor exibition and other one, geological exibition at the same place. Super food and drink and souveneer offers, not expensive at all. Nice nature all around and some qnimals for kids too.
Igor V — Google review
Nice cave. Not the biggest one but worth visiting. The queue for the tickets can be 30 mins long and then you can wait 2h before you go inside, but they give you exact time. You can visit tractor museum in the mean time.

The best adventure park we’ve ever been to! Glavani Park in Croatia is absolutely amazing! We tried every single attraction – from the giant swing to the human catapult (which was insane!), long zip lines, climbing elements, rope bridges, and more. The human catapult alone is worth the visit – such a crazy, unforgettable experience! The staff was super friendly and made sure everything felt safe while still being exciting. The whole place is well organized and full of energy. We also loved the chill areas with hammocks – a perfect break between the action. No hidden costs or nonsense – just pure fun and adrenaline from start to finish. Easily the best park we’ve ever been to. Totally recommend it to anyone who loves adventure and wants to feel alive!

We had such a great time here at the park. All the rides here are very safe (that’s our main concern). We had around 3 hours here and we end up went to all the rides, it was so much fun!!! Nigel and his crew will accompany you all the way so you are not doing this alone. Thanks again for such an amazing experience!

Definitely one of the best experiences of my life. It was like going back to childhood by climbing trees, playing with adrenaline, fear and courage. Also, the staff is amazing, friendly and really kind. I recommend Glavani Park to everyone, and I think we will also be back again. 😎❤️🔙

We visited this gorgeous place with our 2 daughters - 6 & 7 years old. It was definitely worth of to travel 30 minutes from Pula. It is all but not overcrowded place. Calm and quiet atmosphere, professional and very friendly approach from experienced guides. Tracks were prepared and planned with professional attitude, girls experienced a lot of fun, learned technique and we were unable to stop them. Tracks were not easy, girls gave best of them. But in every moment we felt safe and secured. Tommorow it will be tough decision whether to come back or go to see ;)

Cool place, provides a full day of experience. We spent 6 hours there as a family with 3 kids aged 5-10. We did almost everything the place has to offer. Generally, it was our first time at a ropes course park, and it definitely left us wanting more. The instructors are excellent and pleasant. Highly recommended!

We had a great day with lots of fun and adrenaline there. Nigel is super friendly and funny, also his Co-Worker and Melli. He even convinved my wife to do the catapult, gladly I didn‘t have to pick her up then 6 km away 😉 Climbing is fun, and I strongly recommend the highest zip line, what a rush 💪🏼 The tasty beer at the end was well deserved having survived it all. We also enjoyed the lovely dogs, especially super cute cappuccino.

Surrounding the square are historic buildings such as the Church of St Peter and Tartini House, where the composer was born. Visitors can explore narrow streets typical of Istrian towns and enjoy stunning views from the nearby Church of St. George.
Absolutely loved this place. It was the cleanest town I've been to not a piece of litter anywhere, lots of history, lots of bars and places to eat. It has a lovely harbour which leads onto a square where you can sit and just watch the world go by. There is a place where you can see 3 countries from, Italy, Croatia and of course Slovenia. Highly recommend a visit

A beautiful square in Piran, with plenty of cafes, restaurants and cute shops around the square. A very large area where children can play safely with a view of the harbor and the sea and the surrounding historical buildings of the old town of Piran. The true spirit of a coastal town!

Tartini Square (Slovene: Tartinijev trg) is the largest and main town square in Piran, Slovenia. It is named after the famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in Piran. The square is a vibrant pedestrian area, surrounded by historic buildings. It serves as a social and cultural hub of Piran, hosting concerts and events, with cafes, restaurants, and shops around its perimeter. The design provides scenic views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding hills.

Lovely square with plenty of free parking for motorbikes. The harbour was also very beautiful, sadly in motorbike clothing and 40 degree heat, we didn't stay long but would love to revisit one-day.

Tartini's square in the City of Piran, Slovenia, is a beautiful example of Mediterranean city urban planning that nailed it. People of all ages enjoy spending time there. It is vibrant all day long. Great views - to the marina, the sea, surrounding buildings, monument of Tartini, shops, caffees and restaurants, a lot of benches to just sit and relax while you get amused just by looking at people of all ages doing their thing. It is a real jam for photographers and a great place to make a tone of different selfies.

St. George's Parish Church is a historical cathedral situated on the waterfront, boasting a clock tower and incredible panoramic views from the top. Constructed in baroque style during the early 17th century, it replaced an older church dating back to 1344. Visitors can view some of the lavishly adorned interior through a metal grille while full access is granted via the Parish Museum of St George, which also features catacombs and treasury items.
A beautiful church in a beautiful location on a hill above Piran. The climb is neither long nor difficult and you can even do it with a stroller. The view is magnificent!
Sveto R — Google review
Beautiful church! I love how it was made into a museum. For 4€ you can have your tour in the church and visit the bell tower. For me the church wasn’t as exciting as the bell tower was. From the top of the tower you can see Croatia on the left and Italy on the right, such a wonderful view!
Mila A — Google review
Very nice church on the top of a steep hill/seaside. It has a typical Venetian style Campanile next to it. You get wonderful views of Piran from the church, only beaten by the “Walls of Piran” which are about 10 minutes further up
Andreas W — Google review
It's certainly the landmark of picturesque Piran. It looks disproportionately huge from any point in the old town, but it isn't too tough to climb to its top. The breathtaking view from top worth every bit of effort to be there.
Arnold M — Google review
Amazing views of Piran! Pay €3 (as of August 2025) go up around 130 stairs, and you're there. It's definitely worth visiting if able as you can see the point of Piran and the square.

St. George's Parish Church in Piran is the town's largest and most prominent church, dramatically situated on a hill overlooking the Slovenian Adriatic coast. It also consists of an octagonal Baroque structure with a Roman-age baptismal font. Entry to the church is through a small museum containing religious relics and artifacts. The church complex also consists high freestanding tower offering panoramic views of Piran, the Adriatic, and as far as three countries.

The church itself wasn't open, except the little entrance hall, but it looks beautiful from inside and outside. However, what is really breathtaking is the view from the square in front of the church.

Walls of Piran

Sights & Landmarks
The Walls of Piran are an ancient and fortified stone town wall with several notable gates, which have been renovated since the 7th century. The walls have undergone changes over time due to the city's expansion, resulting in the preservation of three different walls and seven city gates. While some areas have deteriorated, much of the original construction from between the 7th and 15th centuries remains intact.
Even though the path to the walls is a bit more challenging, the view is definitely worth it. Mostly narrow / steep stairs, not good for people with physical handicap. Good value for money. You can pay with card.
Janali X — Google review
Amazing views over the sea and the town. Cheap entry, only costs €3 per person. It is well worth the walk and the visit. There are a lot of steep steps to climb the towers but the view is great and it is a unique experience.
Viktória É — Google review
The tickets were so cheap, we had a great view of the city from the tower, a bit small for tall people such as myself but nevertheless it was great
Bálint K — Google review
Best 3 Euros spent. Not only is it interesting to explore the walls of the former fortress that protected Piran from enemies approaching it from the landslide, it also has the very best views of Piran to offer. For an obstructed view it’s best to go to almost the end of the wall and be careful on the ladders and stairs, it’s easy to hit your head !
Andreas W — Google review
The Walls of Piran are the defensive walls surrounding the coastal town of Piran, built in the 7th century. Some walls and towers can be accessed for a small entrance fee. It also offers the beautiful panoramic views of the coastal town and Adriatic sea.
Kevin A — Google review
The wall of the city of Piran, known as the “Piransko obzidje”, is one of the most famous symbols of this picturesque historic town on the Slovenian coast. Its history dates back from the 7th century to the early 16th century, serving as protection for the town against invasions, especially during the Ottoman incursions and the period of Venetian rule. Historical Facts and Interesting Details The first phase of fortification was built as early as the 7th century and originally enclosed only the oldest core of the town. As the city grew, the wall was extended several times – the second phase was added during the Venetian rule (late 13th century), and the third and largest in the 15th and 16th centuries due to the threat of the Ottoman Empire. The fortification included three separate sections of walls and seven town gates, most of which are still preserved today. The best-preserved part, with towers, is located on Morgoron Hill southeast of the center, offering a stunning panoramic view of the entire town of Piran, the Adriatic Sea, the Bay of Trieste, and on clear days, even Croatia and Italy. The wall is characterized by Venetian Gothic architecture, later with elements of the Renaissance style. Visiting the Piran Town Wall Today The wall is open to the public daily, usually from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM (summer schedule), with last entry shortly before sunset. The view of the sunset over the sea from here is spectacular. Admission is €3 for adults, less for students, and children under 12 enter for free. Dogs are not allowed. Visitors can climb several towers, but should be prepared for narrow, sometimes uneven and steep stairs. Not suitable for individuals with significant mobility issues. Sturdy footwear is recommended. Legend of Piran and Experience There’s a local legend about the “Witch of Piran,” who was said to protect the town from enemies by conjuring up storms over the sea. Walking along the wall offers not only a journey through history but also unforgettable views and the perfect spot to photograph iconic red rooftops and the turquoise sea. Piran is considered one of the most beautiful examples of a Mediterranean historic fortified town, and its wall is among the most visited places in Slovenia – a must-see for lovers of history and photography. Portorož Central Beach is very nice and well kept, with plenty of space and good facilities. The sand and swimming areas are clean, and the promenade adds to the lively atmosphere. The water wasn’t quite as crystal clear as you might see on postcards, but still pleasant for swimming. It does get crowded, especially in peak season, similar to the Italian Riviera, so expect a busy beach experience. They proudly say the water here is among the cleanest in Europe, and overall it’s a great spot to enjoy the sea, sun, and lively coastal vibe.

Experience the thrill of zip lining over the stunning Pazin Cave, offering dramatic views of the town of Pazin. The zipline adventure takes you through the wooded cliffs and offers a unique perspective of one of Istria's most fascinating natural phenomena. The ride consists of four ziplines, with two different routes to choose from - one shorter and the other longer and faster. You can reach speeds of around 45km/h depending on your weight.
It was amazing! From the very first contact through email to the experience itself: everything was well organised and they did it with a smile. My wife and I had a blast going down the zipline. Would recommend it to anybody. Thanks again for the awesome experience!

Great experience for young and 'old'. Well organised and great team of people. Large parking next to it at the designated adress of this experience. You just need to drive down on the LEFT side of the building. We went at opening around 10 o'clock. By 11.30 it was getting crowded and parking almost full. When paying, you are designated to a group, which also estimates the time it will be your turn. Next, the teamleaders call your group in order to equip and secure you. Enjoy and thrust the professionals 👍

Fun and adrenaline! Exceeded our expectations. Two ziplines over the Pazin cave, amazing view as you go over it. 5 min walk back to the starting point. Fantastic team! Friendly and welcoming staff. Short waiting times and instructions in multiple languages. Staff handles everything, ensuring a safe ride for everyone. Equipment looked brand new and braking is adjusted based on your weight for a smooth landing. Parking available behind the hotel. Recommended!

Best cave experience I had so far! A must go if you're going through istra. The guudes were extremely nice, educated us about the cave and you can see they enjoy caves and speleology. I had a great experience. The terrian is not that harsh but has some parts that might be tricky to some people but overall easily to traverse. Thank you guides for a good time!!! ❤️

Great Adventure and very friendly and funny staff. There was a mix up with our reservation, but a they organized quickly a third guide so that we could also join the tour. There are two ziplines in the cave and that was a lot of fun. Also a lot of rock climbing, but not too dangerous. We had help from the tour guides when needed. Absolutely great tour with interesting information about the cave, earlyer expeditions etc. A moment in absolute darkness was a highlight, too.

A very well done tour! We enjoyed it with our teenagers (17 & 14). Another family with 8 and 10 year olds did too. Some light climbing which requires good balance as well as two short zip lines in the cave round up the adventure. Great guides 👍!

Fantastic program! Exciting, special. The tour is led by two friendly experts. We get a helmet. During the entire tour, you have to step over rocks, climb, and in some places there is also a rope belay. The rocks are slippery and require a little skill. You cross the rocks and the water twice on a short wire rope course. In the depths of the cave, you see experience an interesting presentation on a tablet, and then you can feel the experience of real darkness. You can only see it with expert.

I booked this Speleo adventure for myself and my son. We booked with 24 hours notice. Mladen was fantastic at responding and communicating by email to book up. We paid in cash at the end of the activity. Our guides, George and Jakob were brilliant. They were very knowledgeable, charming and skillful at guiding us, making us feel safe and interested throughout. I would thoroughly recommend this activity. It was good value too for the time spent. My son and I were very happy. Book up with email in advance, but it's likely not much notice is required if you can be a little flexible.

Very informative and adventurous cave tour. We were late but the guides were very patient with us and didn’t hurry us. Unity of Italy Square, or Piazza Unita d'Italia, is a breathtaking expanse that proudly claims the title of Europe's largest seafront square. Nestled in Trieste, this grand public space offers stunning views of the sea and is surrounded by impressive architecture and charming cafes. The square showcases an elegant blend of Austro-Hungarian design and modern civic pride, making it a focal point for both locals and visitors alike.
✨ One of the most beautiful and majestic squares in Europe! Located right by the Adriatic Sea, this place offers a truly unique atmosphere. The architecture is stunning — especially the city hall facade, which looks incredible, especially when lit up in the evening. The square is clean, spacious, and perfect for a relaxing walk. There are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby where you can enjoy the view with a cup of coffee. Absolutely a must-visit spot in Trieste for photos and unforgettable moments! 🌊🏛️

There are places that impress you, and then there are places that touch you. Piazza Unità d’Italia is the heart and soul of Trieste – a square that doesn’t just stand still in time, but breathes with the history, pride, and elegance of generations. Facing the Adriatic Sea, this square is both open and monumental – a rare balance of grandeur and intimacy. Surrounded by magnificent buildings and kissed by the sea breeze, it’s a place where you instantly feel present and small in the most beautiful way. By day, it shines with architectural harmony and calm Mediterranean charm. By night, it transforms into something almost poetic – glowing lights, reflections on the water, and an atmosphere that makes you slow down and simply absorb the moment. Being here with my family felt like stepping into a painting. It’s not just a place to visit – it’s a place
Vasilka G — Google review
The square looks impressive, the buildings around it architectural masterpieces. However, I didn't get a sense of the scale and spaciousness of the square. My wife and I visited the square on the closing day of the annual regatta (Barcolana). The entire space was filled with decorations, advertising banners, and prefabricated stalls selling food and beer. It was very noisy, crowded everywhere, but fun.
Game G — Google review
A beautiful place!! A huge plus is that there weren't masses of tourists so the square was really clear. The view is immersive!! 🤩 All the buildings look amazing. 🌟

1 | Piazza Unità d’Italia is the largest square in Europe opening onto the sea, its area is over 12,000 m². 2 | The square is definitely worth a visit and can easily be combined with a walk to the pier. We were there on a summer evening when the illuminated town hall building dominated the scene. 3 | The square is lined with numerous restaurants and cafés where you can sit down and relax. What surprised me was that most grocery stores close as early as 9:00 PM.

It is a big flat old stone dock. Great to walk once or twice, be aware that there is no shade in the 37c sun and little room to sit. It was enjoyable to see the Adriatic sea and look at any big ships docked but nothing else.

Molo Audace

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Molo Audace, a historic stone pier established in 1751, is steeped in rich maritime history and cultural significance. Originally named San Carlo pier after a shipwreck, it gained its current name following a poignant event on November 3, 1918, when the destroyer Audace docked here to mark Trieste's annexation to Italy. This moment was celebrated by an ecstatic crowd that welcomed General Pelitti Roreto as he proclaimed the city's new allegiance.
Stretching approximately 246 meters straight into the sea, this pier offers panoramic views of the Adriatic and the scenic coastline of Trieste. It is especially renowned for its stunning sunsets, when the horizon is bathed in golden light. Originally constructed over the remains of the Austrian ship San Carlo, which sank in 1740, the pier was first known as Molo San Carlo. After World War I, in 1918, it was renamed Molo Audace to commemorate the Italian Navy destroyer Audace, which was the first Italian vessel to enter the port of Trieste following the war.

Hahahha If you come on the New Year’s Eve, you could enjoy the fireworks here! Top place. Even if the weather is not good, here is still a good spot to go! Enjoy Trieste :)

Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Perched atop a hill, the Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire is a stunning 14th-century cathedral that beautifully marries history and artistry. Built on the remnants of a Roman temple, this architectural gem showcases intricate frescoes and mesmerizing mosaics that reflect both Byzantine and modern influences. As you wander through Trieste, this cathedral stands out among other remarkable sites like the Serbian Orthodox Church of San Spiridone and the grand Synagogue.
Cathedral of San Giusto is set atop the central hill in Trieste. On the spot you'll notice ancient Roman ruins with several columns surviving. Beside them is this very interesting Cathedral dating back to 14 century, as well the Habsburg fortress above. In those days there were actually two smaller churches. Trieste people wanted a bigger, main Cathedral there, so great efforts were made to join them together, collecting ancient stones and building materials from that Roman site due to lack of funds. Entry is free and you can admire the magnificent mosaic altar inside. Paying are the crypt and the bell tower. Pro Tips: - Park your car in the Park San Giusto garage, take the elevator to level 0 which takes you right in front of it, - you can take that elevator even as a pedestrian (if you're not by car) to avoid the steep climb on foot - it's free, - beautiful views of Trieste town and bay from the square in front
Dejan B — Google review
This cathedral, perched atop the original Roman settlement, fuses two older churches into an architectural statement that commands attention—think Romanesque grit, Gothic form, and Byzantine mosaic finesse, all with zero entrance fee. Throw in panoramic city views and ancient ruins at your feet, and you've got yourself a monument that’s strategically placed.
Abdullah R — Google review
Beautiful church with a lot of history! The interior is quite stunning and definitely worth visiting. I attended a mass and there was a choir that sang so beautifully that you could literally feel the connection to God. I also went to look for a birth certificate of my grandfather and the priests and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
Jonathan C — Google review
Located on San Giusto Hill, a site with origins dating back to Roman times, the cathedral was built between 1302 and 1320 by combining two earlier structures. It features a blend of Romanesque and Gothic styles, with well-preserved Byzantine-style mosaics from the 12th–13th centuries. The bell tower, built atop 14th-century Roman remains, houses five bells.

Small, scenic inlet with a sandy beach & boat dock, plus restaurants, cocktail bars & hotels.
Quiet Adriatic beach with few people—perfect for a peaceful getaway. There’s not much shade, so bring an umbrella, but the cozy atmosphere and clean water make it a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the sea. A hidden gem for those seeking calm and simplicity.
Євген К — Google review
It’s clean, there are toilets (insert 50 cents) and changing places for free. There is also small bar on the beach cash only. There is a small river in the middle of the beach which falls into the sea so water is much colder on this beach.
Oksana R — Google review
Very rocky shore with clear water. Overpriced sunbeds (€11) and parking (€15). Cash only payment at the beach bars in the 21st century…. Overall, there are better spots than this.
David K — Google review
Once the season is over, the "no dogs" signal is simply avoided by most. Every bar and restaurant is closed. The water is full of oil, even if it looks clean, it's not. Just 10 minutes drive to Draga di Moschiena and everything is different and alive!
Cami L — Google review
nice Beach, but horrible Service not hygiene! All the Sun umbrella are broken, we tried three times to find a useable one. the mad for the chair are really not clean, looks like never washing before, kind of disgusting. the only Service they have are to charge you heavy fee, and just cash, No Credit-card. for three chair and one Sun umbrella 240 KN. Well, i won’t come here again, and you better not as well, if you care about hygiene and service.

Nice beach, well organised, we can reccomend the massage there :) A bit loud due to the nearby road and towards the evening there were some harmless jellyfish in the deeper part of the sea.

Very nice quiet beach with nice view. It's quite relaxing to walk there in the winter. No tourists and no cars.

This is one of the best beaches in this area. Much better conditions that in Lovran. Good infrastructure but there is problem with parking car. Other minus - to many people during day . Overall it is one of the best places near sea.

Skocjan Caves

Nature & Parks
The Skocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are an extraordinary subterranean network of caves and canyons formed by the Reka River over thousands of years. The 6km-long cave system features fossil-filled chambers and a river that flows into the Dead Lake before resurfacing as the Timavo River in Italy. Visitors can explore this remarkable natural wonder on a flat walking tour, admiring its unusual karst landscape and historical significance dating back to prehistoric times.
What an amazing place! A beautiful walk through the caves. At the end, you can choose one of three trails: 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour. I highly recommend the 1-hour trail, as it gives you access to more caves and bridges. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance, and I recommend bringing a raincoat and waterproof boots or sneakers
Manuela B — Google review
The caves are worth seeing, although it is quite dark inside (for good reasons), and a lot of detail can't be seen. There are hundreds of steps, mostly going down inside the cave. Once the guided tour was completed, I took the exit to the left which includes two options, a 30 minute path or a one hour path. The one hour path was fantastic. There are so many points of interest worth capturing on camera, especially a waterfall. The end of the path was all up hill, with many elongated steps. The rest is along a road back to the parking lot. The morning was all sold out if tickets were not bought in advance. The afternoon was less busy. A free museum of how the explorers found and traversed the cave is under the information centre. A gift shop, cafe and large seating area was available inside and out.
Niki — Google review
Amazing, monumental, huge and much less commercial and crowded cave than postojna. I really recommend this one for people who want to experience one of the most amazing cave of the world. The amount of space, of the water and beauty inside is just overwhelming. Parking is free, same with toilets. The pace was just a little too fast for people who are less than average sporty. Overall 10/10 Important information: you absolutely cannot take photos inside
J ( — Google review
Grand. On one level just a large cave complex (dry side) but then the river cuts through the cave and its is magnificent and huge (and for me terrifying). Guide was good and nice to have some time for exploring. Be warned, lots of walking.
Stefan S — Google review
Stunning. We were actually unsure before the tour, and it's true you have very little choice during the tour but follow guide and group like a sheep, especially if there are many people like when we visited. But at the same time this cave system is breathtaking. Of course I would enjoy a different way of visiting, slower, with more time, less people. But if that's the only way it's still worth it! But you should be afraid of heights ;) The information at the Park are actually very poor, the information center was already closed before our tour ended, that was a bit disappointing..
Scarlett M — Google review
I absolutely love caves and visit them anywhere in the world that I can, but this is amazing. It's huge inside. Also the extra walk after the cave tour is equally as good as the cave itself. Spend the extra hour and take the extra steps to make the trip worth it.
Gabe R — Google review
Awe inspiring cave that is a UNESCO site. There is a massive gorge with a river running through it that is like something out of the Mines of Moria. This is an absolute must visit if in beautiful Slovenia. You can’t take photos inside the main caverns only on the outside areas.
Tyler G — Google review
Beneath the surface lies a hidden world of wonder. Just across the border in Slovenia, a country of breathtaking nature, mountains, and castles, you'll find a place of incredible beauty and astonishing statistics: Škocjan Caves. This UNESCO World Heritage site is home to one of the largest underground canyons on the planet. Carved by the Reka River, this massive canyon, up to 140 meters high in some places, is a spectacle to behold. The sheer scale is mind-boggling, with the incredible Martel Chamber, one of the largest cave rooms in the world, boasting a volume of 2.2 million cubic meters. Walking through the canyon, you'll cross the Cerkvenik Bridge, suspended 47 meters above the river, and witness other wonders like the 15-meter-tall "Giant" stalagmite. It's a humbling and awe-inspiring experience that reminds you of the immense power of nature. Have you ever visited a place that took your breath away? One important note for your visit: please do not use flash photography inside the cave!

Did not have the chance to stay overnight, but the wine tasting experience was great! Wines and food were very good (ended up feeling like a full meal) and the highlight for me was the guy working there - nice, accessible and genuinely seemed happy to share and discuss on the wines, their farm and a bit of Slovenian culture in general. I'd love to go back!

Very good accommodation. Staff was friendly and nice. Breakfast was really good. So friendly family accommodation and winery. We bought family jams and wines to bring home, because they were great and we love it.
Kalle L — Google review
We stayed here two nights. The location is excellent, close to several wineries in a quiet town. The room was clean and functional. The breakfast was plentiful with fresh eggs cooked to order. The hostess was very nice and welcoming. We found the bed to be too hard, but understand that can be typical of this part of the world. For us it meant less than restful sleep. We had a wine tasting on the last night. Unfortunately the person doing the wine tasting was distracted by something and appeared to forget us for long periods at times. Which was a shame because it took away from the experience. Because it is harvest season we could not see the cellar. Overall the family running the place were kind and made us feel welcome.

We stayed here for a night and took part in their evening wine tasting. The rooms were clean, spacious and just upstairs from the tasting. The wines were great, the platter was incredible and the history and stories behind all their family-owned wines is incredible to learn about. Great experience!

We had a lovely tasting experience here! Did the wine + snacks option and the food was delicious as well as the many wines we got to taste. Our host, Anja, was both educational and entertaining to listen to. Highly recommend. I unfortunately only took this 1 photo while we were there, but it reflects our time there. Cozy and dim 😃

Predjama Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Predjama Castle, located 9km from Postojna, is a 13th-century fortress built within a cave in the face of a cliff. The castle's construction spans several centuries, with most of its current structure dating back to the 16th century. It stands as an impressive and seemingly unconquerable sight. Visitors can explore restored living areas, dungeons, and even a secret tunnel while learning about its fascinating history through audio guides.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A must-see! Predjama Castle is absolutely breathtaking — a true gem built right into the side of a cliff! The combination of natural beauty and medieval architecture is stunning. Every corner of the castle tells a story, and you can really feel the history as you walk through the rooms and tunnels. The views from the castle are incredible — looking out over the valley feels like stepping back in time. It’s one of the most unique and fascinating places I’ve ever visited. Highly recommend!
Jose P — Google review
The castle is amazing, get the free audio guide and listen to the detailed history of the castle as you walk through it. We drove to the castle and parking is a bit of a hassle, some free others you need to pay for. You can drive right up and do a loop to see what parking near is available.
Chris Y — Google review
The castle always amazes me with its grandeur and power. I like that they offer an interactive guide (it's a shame that there isn't one in Postojna Cave). The downside is that they charge for the guides, which I've never experienced anywhere else in Europe - even in Postojna Cave. But I definitely recommend anyone who wants to visit a castle to visit it, you won't be disappointed.
Zumba Š — Google review
Gorgeous setting for a castle. Would have easily stayed outside of it having a coffee and contemplating rather than paying and coming in, but either way don't miss it!
Anibal M — Google review
A different type of castle, picturesque and quaint. Has been used as a backdrop for movies and TV series. The parking is a bit of a trek away from the castle. There is free WiFi, and the castle has a free downloadable audio guide, which is quite detailed and helpful. Lots of climbing up stairs involved. The view from the castle balconies is awesome.
PALLAB R — Google review
The most incredible castle in the side of a cliff! I cannot believe people are saying not to bother with it - it’s incredible! Really worth a visit, the audio guide available on your phone is convenient and informative! I was blown away, must visit!

The Postojna Cave Ticket Store offers various tour options, especially during the busy summer months. Guided tours are the only way to explore the complex cave system. Visitors can purchase combined tickets with nearby attractions like the castle, although shuttle service is not included. It's recommended to visit the castle in the morning and then explore the cave due to limited bus schedules.
Service was fast. Cashiers were very helpful in guiding us.

Postojna Cave Ticket Store – A Smooth Start to an Incredible Journey Purchasing tickets at Postojna Cave was a seamless and pleasant experience that set the tone for the adventure ahead. The ticket store is located right next to the main entrance, easy to find, and well-organized. Even with a steady flow of visitors, everything moved efficiently thanks to clear signage and helpful staff. Although online booking is also available and highly recommended during busy periods. The staff were welcoming, spoke excellent English, and explained the different ticket options, including combo packages that cover additional sights like Predjama Castle. What I appreciated most was the detailed information provided at the ticket counter — they explain the tour timings, meeting points, and even suggest how to plan extra activities if you have more time in the area. It made organizing our visit stress-free. The standard cave ticket includes an exciting electric train ride and a guided walking tour. While the live guides are very knowledgeable, the audio guide available in multiple languages is also an excellent option. I found the audio guide particularly helpful for getting deeper insights without feeling rushed, and it allows you to enjoy the magical surroundings at your own pace. Overall, the Postojna Cave ticketing experience was extremely professional, friendly, and efficient. It’s clear they care about making every visitor’s experience smooth from the very beginning — an excellent introduction to one of Slovenia’s greatest natural wonders.

Beautiful and affordable campsite in the middle of the forest. Has many cozy tent pitches where you can feel like in the middle of nowhere. Additionally the pool is available but has really cold water, would only recommend swimming if you like challenges ;) but it is a saver during hot days.

Camped there for one night with a tent and two bikes. The location is absolutely stunning, being completely immersed in the woods makes it a magical experience. Bathrooms were okay but the water was warm at best. No other problems. Cooking area had electric stoves too, which was nice. Payment can be done in card.

Hidden gem in the middle of the forest! 🌲⛺ The campsite is spacious, especially when it comes to pitching tents. You’ll find everything you need: electricity, clean showers and toilets, a swimming pool, and plenty of peace, quiet, and shade. Perfect for a relaxing stay away from the crowds. Just one tip – don’t follow the navigation via Postojna, but arrive from the southwest (Veliki Otok) instead! 🚐✨

Beautiful campsite in the middle of the woods. The sanitary is the oldest ever seen, yet very clean and spacious. There’s even 4 ‘kitchens’ with 4 electric cooking plates. The tent pitches are perfectly leveled, but it is on asphalt and Little Rock’s, so you might want an extra canvas to protect your tent and matras.

This place is absolutely perfect for camping! The bathrooms are very clean, and the whole area is surrounded by peaceful nature. It’s quiet, relaxing, and a great spot to unwind and reconnect with the outdoors. Highly recommended for anyone who loves camping in a natural and calm environment. ⛺🌿✨

Nice camping in the woods with shadow. There is a small pool on the camping with very cold water (nice to cool of on a hot summer day) There are decent sanitary facilities with hot shower. Works good but don't bring to much because there is only one hook in the shower. No shelves to put clothes or things. On the campsite there is also a nice restaurant. About 5 km from Postojna av Postojna caves.

Very beautiful and well-preserved castle. The surroundings of the castle with the stream and park around it are beautiful. Guided tours are available, our guide was very friendly. The interior of the castle is rich, with many original furniture and items preserved. Beautiful rooms, bedrooms and hallways. There is a wedding hall and a small souvenir shop available. I recommend the visit.

This is such a nice little castle. Beautiful on the outside and very well taken care of on the inside. I had somewhat of a private tour since I was the only one and the girl great. Her English was great and she knew so much about the castle. Any question I had about the castle or one of the items…all answered in a split second. It was a great tour! Thank you so much (took the tour on monday 10th of July 2023 at 13.00…don’t remember her name anymore, but if you read this: you were great!)

Romantic castle Snežnik. There are few castles that are equipped with original furniture from the 19th century. The atmosphere that dominates the castle will easily take you back to that time, when its owners used it as a summer residence. Snežnik Castle can only be visited with a guide. The tours start at every penalty hour during working hours and last a little less than an hour. ticket is €8 for adults
Damir — Google review
Since my last visit some years ago little has changed, ok there is now a cafe, but don't ask them for a nice ice-coffee because they don't have a clue how to make one. My biggest disappointment is that there is hardly any signs there where is what. Most disturbing is the lack of signs for the parking place. Someone even drove the car straight in front of the entrance of the castle, robbing every visitor of making a nice picture of the majestic castle entrance. I don't know who could be so inconsiderate to place his dirty old car just in front of it while there were signs not to drive in that alley and there were enough places between the trees further down where there should be signage for parking space. Because of its distant location from other places, to get there and see a pearl of history so neglected for so many years it hurts and makes you think that nobody in the near vicinity cares about their cultural and historical background.

This castle is in a beautiful place, surrounded by nature. Guided tours are available and it's worth to visit the interior of the castle for its well preserved furniture. My partner and I took a guided tour in English on July 29th. The guide was very friendly and we learned a lot about the castle's history. The castle's furniture transport you back in time to the days when the castle was still in use by its owners. Highly recommended.

Križna jama, located in Slovenia, is a remarkable karst cave system featuring over 20 underground lakes that can be explored by boat. Unlike most Slovenian caves which are traversed on foot, Križna jama offers visitors the unique experience of a subterranean boat ride. The cave is devoid of electric lighting, with visitors provided with lamps and boots for their one to four-hour tour.
What an amazing tour. While in this part of the country, you do not want to overlook this great cave tour. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance, and contact them if you want to do one of the longer tours. The way to the cave is well marked, and there is some parking on site. Show up 15 minutes before your time so you can get your rubber boots and receive your tour brief before entering. Everyone will also be given a flashlight as there is no lighting in the caves. The group must travel together - led by your guide. It is truly a unique experience, walking through the darkness along a weĺl-marked path. Our guide was amazing and truly made the tour enjoyable for all ages in our group. I will also say that our group had a very large span of ages - as young as five. Thank you so much for the great tour.

An amazing day walking the same route as prehistoric cave bears :) For a last-minute plan to visit Križna jama, we easily managed to get on the daily 1-1.5 hour tour on a Saturday. Longer tours are available but these should be booked in advance. Our tour was in English and our guide Gašper was brilliant, funny and informative. The guides' passion for the cave is evident in how they educate visitors and protect the cave from over-tourism.

Brilliant caves, our tour guide was excellent and gave us lots of info. The boat ride was lovely. There are longer experiences available too but the basic 90 min was perfect for us but would definitely do a longer tour next time

A visit to Krizna Jama Bear Caves is a must! Our guide, Tanja, was excellent - so informative and truly engaging. She brought the history and unique features of this unspoilt cave system to life. Learning about the bears and seeing their bones was fascinating Exploring the natural beauty, untouched by excessive tourism, was a real highlight. I highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting the region.
Jim B — Google review
I recently visited Križna Cave and took the short 2-hour tour. It was an interesting experience, but with such a short time, you only get a brief taste of the cave’s atmosphere. It’s enough to decide whether you enjoy this kind of underground adventure — the silence, the darkness, the underground river, the boat ride, the feeling of being in another world. If you really want to experience the cave and see more of its hidden beauty, I’d recommend the longer 4-hour tour. And for true adventure seekers, there’s even a 7-hour extreme tour — not for everyone, but from what I’ve heard, it’s absolutely unforgettable.
Oksana J — Google review
Your lasted for 1 hr 15 mins and the tour guide was fantastic. She was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Cave itself was amazing, our favourite part was the boat ride which despite being pretty short was still very memorable. If we went there again, we would definitely look for the longer version of a tour to the Bear Cave.
Adam P — Google review
Insane experience. We took the path to the Bear Tunnel and we could see hundreds of bear bones. Our guide Tanja was very informative and caring. She found a bear tooth in the path but respectfully hid it later as naturally it is not permitted to take anything from the cave. If you don’t have reservation, try your luck and maybe they will find a spot for you next day as we did. Cheers

This is the fifth time I've been to this cave. I've already done all the tours. Yesterday I was there at 9:00 a.m. I had a guide who was really great. His name is Mathaš. Meerauge, also known as the "Disney World of Carinthia," is a stunning pond nestled amidst the Austrian Alps near the Slovenian border. The clear, teal waters of Meerauge are surrounded by picturesque mountains and lush greenery, creating a truly enchanting setting. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the wooden boardwalk that encircles the pond, offering breathtaking views of the landscape.
Nice place easy reachable within 5 minutes from parking place /main road with briliant colour of water. Completely renovated path around the pond with places to seat and relax. Worth to see if You are in neighborhood.

A nice short walk on a wooden trail to a little lake. Beautiful views of the mountains on the way. A perking place for a few cars only.

I love this place so much and visit during all four seasons. You see the evolution of a landscape sprawled out right in front of you as geographical process. The "Eye of Sea" is an intendation made by dead ice during the last ten thousand years, at a time when there still was a glacier, which eventually resided. Now fueled by an underground spring, a tiny part of its reminiscence sparkles in unusually bright colors. On a clear day you have the reflection of the surrounding trees as well as the distant mountains captured by the pond in front of you - a wondrous sight indeed! Luckily there is hardly any algae contamination. You see the 500 million year old Karawanks in the background, when weather allows it, as you try to trace earth‘s history throughout time and space. As if the land tells you its story visually by mirroring its beauty. You imagine millions of years from the beginning of its geological formation to now, the very moment you shift your gaze from the water in front of you to the horizon. An astounding intersection of space and time. Unusual in rareness. Parking there is now forbidden 🚫 due to construction. One has to either park at Gasthaus Sereinig or Podner. Please be mindful of that restraint. Be mindful of locals and their right for privacy.

It’s a nice place to visit. You can drive right up to it by car or bicycle. But don’t plan it as a full day trip — it only takes about five minutes to walk around, and there’s nothing else really special nearby. That said, the Meeraug itself is absolutely beautiful — no doubt about that.
