Taureau Fort

Imposing 16th-century castle occupying a tiny rocky island, accessible by boat for tours & events.
Excellent for a morning visit. We sailed from Plougasnou. The boat was busy but there was plenty of room. The initial 5 minute introduction to the castle was only in French but we were given a guide book in English and after the intro could simply explore. Most of the notices and boards in the fort were in both French and English so even with our limited French we didn't miss anything. Would definitely recommend.
Andrew K — Google review
The fort itself is pretty cool, definitely worth a visit. I found the history to be even more exciting though! 4/5 stars because there is not that much to see/do.
Andrew J — Google review
We enjoyed the boat tour and appreciated that the guide book had English wording. The trip could be enhanced by providing some basic commentary in English. On arrival at the fort we found ourselves in a big crowd listening to the tour guide speak French. We didn't want to leave as it felt rude. It would have helped if the tour guide let us know in English that the non French speakers were free to leave and to explore the fort. Overall we enjoyed the trip.
LPD M — Google review
Excellent organization of the visit from the start, with a straightforward, informative website, to picking up our tickets, to the boat shuttle. Knowledgeable staff too - and don't forget the gift shop. Quick, the last bell is ringing - don't miss your trip back to the mainland!
Gerald L — Google review
A beautifully restored coastal fort with much effort put into informing and interpreting its usage and siting, along with the history of the site. A great little self guided tour - the information boards are in both French and English - thankyou! Its worth visiting the gift shop for some unique presents too.
Erik B — Google review
Very interesting but do check the times of the boat trips as soon as you arrive on your holiday, we nearly missed out due to high tides.

What a surprise. This area was absolutely stunning. The Stone building is what attracted me but exploring and hiking around was incredible. Definitely worth a trip. Even if you’re not there while the buildings are open. It is still fun to walk around. There is still a lot to see.

The combination of historical genius loci and natural beauty is truly unique. We were lucky to stumble upon a local festival and bought a baguette with regional cheese—making it a culinary experience as well. Freshly baked bread with cheese is a timeless classic… thank you!
Tomas O — Google review
Very interesting place. We came here to see the Corps des Gards building but found there was much more to see here. There is a dedicated parking area for motorhomes next to the car park and toilets. There is a path of about 500m to walk which is just about suitable for a wheelchair user.
John L — Google review
Beautiful place to visit with enough information to understand the area. Craft shops selling handmade gifts.

It was fantastic! I'm really in love with the Celtic architecture. The village is in a very good shape and you can visit every house. It is a really tourist hotspot. The best is the cost and it's boulder options. The kids really loved it to carefully climb the rocks. Fir those who are brave enough can go swimming, but it really depends on the weather and the water temperature. A must see!

Thats one of the best places I visited during this journey! I felt a bit like beeing in Asterix village in Gallia. So nice reconstructered old huts with all the natural massive rocks. And the handcraft shop and Bistrorestaurant. Visit is for free as parking. Inside of some huts the hustory of that village is nicly explained also a lot to discover for children. All in three languages french, english and german. Can only highly recommand this seaside unique attraction!🛖

One is the "enclos paroissal" and a fine example at that. It is an enclosed church with site buildings, churchyard and some artwork thrown in. It is all very cosy. The are free guides available (at least in the high season) who just start explaining things as soon as some people gather around then. It's all very informal. Inside there is some fine painted woodwork.

Wow what a church! Beautiful, I've never seen any church in this style in England. Although the stone cross looks a bit scary. I wouldn't like to walk near it in the wind or if there was an earthquake. I cycle tours into town for the BCN/BPF stamp. Well worth a visit.

Fonds Hélène & Édouard Leclerc is praised for its well-thought-out Cabinets de Curiosite exhibit, with excellent design and interesting objects on display. Visitors appreciate the informative printed materials and helpful docents available to answer questions. The building itself is described as beautiful, making for a pleasant overall experience. While some visitors note the small size of the museum, it's seen as perfect for those with children.
Small but very well curated museum, with exceptional exhibition programme. Really enjoyed our latest visit to Animal?! exhibit

Great expo of photos by Cartier Bresson when I visited. Top notch. Well situated in the town, close to the rail station, and you can wander down to the pretty town centre for some shopping or a drink afterward.
James E — Google review
Hilarious that an expo about animals doesn’t allow animals (small dog) to EVEN enter the courtyard- we were chased away by the ‘active’ security guard within seconds of entering the OUTSIDE area without even giving us a chance to sort ourselves out. Will not be going back again and that’s 2 paying customers lost.

Oceanopolis is a massive aquarium featuring three distinct zones representing polar, tropical, and temperate marine environments. It offers an opportunity for visitors to discover the wonders of the world's oceans with over a thousand species of marine animals on display. The aquarium boasts one of Europe's largest penguin pools and provides an immersive experience for all ages.
Océanopolis in Brest is the most beautiful aquarium I’ve visited! The tropical and polar pavilions are stunning and full of fascinating marine life. A fun, immersive, and educational experience. I loved it and highly recommend it to anyone interested in the ocean world!
Malak C — Google review
It is ok, but there are far better aquariums around. Admittedly, the place is currently undergoing a major renovation, so a large part of it is closed. But what we did see was mostly digital or interactive displays plus some tanks of mostly small creatures such as shrimps and seahorses. The only big animals visible were a few very bored seals in a tiny tank, swimming round repetitively. There were quite a few English translations and the staff were friendly. We stayed about an hour in total. Definitely don't travel specifically to visit, but it passes the time if you are in the area and the weather is bad. Hopefully, it will be improved when the big renovations are unveiled.
Livia F — Google review
Overall loved the aquarium, just bad timing with the renovations so didn't get to see the sharks and the penguins but really nice and educational. The restaurant has really good food.
Phoebe — Google review
Great place to visit with kids with so many learning games and activities to educate on ocean and marine life and bio diversity and how to protect it. Buying tickets in advance is recommended to avoid waiting in queue especially on weekends and public to school holidays.
Issam P — Google review
OMG worst aquarium ever ! Huge property seems abandoned. Rusted property. This place is definitely going out of business. Seals were nice. Two or three other fish tanks good. No otters in otter tank. Not one. All food places closed. Nobody here. On a Sunday. There’s no way this survives as a business. Penguins coming in October ! This whole place likely to be torn down in two years. Sad. The young women at the front were cute and funny though !
Robert — Google review
At the time we visited this place, most of the attractions were closed for renovation. It was expensive and we just saw one part of the aquarium. A bit underwhelming. I enjoyed the little thetre experience, though, it could be interesting for children especially.
Subas A — Google review
My slightly low rating is due to a number of the major attractions being closed, which we knew about before our visit but it's definitely something to consider before making your way out. To be fair to the venue the ticket price is currently reduced to reflect the reduced offering but just something to be aware off. I would also score them lowly on the food offering. The restaurant looks cool but on the day we visited, there was a limited offering and the fish and chips was not good. Coffee from the smaller kiosk was also disappointing. The main attractions open we're the Brittany exhibition which is a series of smaller tanks and can opportunity to see the seals swimming under water. You can also view the 4 seals above ground. There is also an otter exhibition with 2-3 otters. They're cute but it's a small exhibition. There are some interactive\educational areas and an outdoor play area. We visited as a family with a 6 and 9 year old and they enjoyed it and we did spend over 3 hours there. It's also easy to get to Oceanopolis by bus from Brest. If you're driving there is plenty of parking including an area for camper vans.
Lisa G — Google review
Every nice aquarium for the whole family. Lots of variety in the exhibits and when small children get restless, there are a few outdoor play areas for them to get the wiggles out. Bring your lunch - the restaurant is mediocre.

Located within the historic Brest Castle, Musée National de la Marine offers a captivating journey through 17 centuries of maritime history, showcasing the strong connection between Brest and its naval heritage. The museum's impressive collection features model ships and naval installations dating back to 1748, providing insight into the city's shipbuilding traditions and ocean-going fleets. With breathtaking views of the bay and old city from the castle towers, a visit to this museum promises an enriching experience steeped in naval history.
Loved the museum. Lots of history from more than 600 years ago. I was expecting a little bit more maritime stuff. It is a beautiful castle with lots of interest things to see.
Luis D — Google review
Part of the castle which you have to enter see review of castle. The rowing museum at Henley has more exhibits. Most of what you read you could get from a book. Worth visiting for the views of the town.
Ray D — Google review
Already in the 3rd century, some fortifications, a castellum, were constructed at this site. Later, this huge castle was built and expanded through the years. Occupied by the English during the Hundred Years War, sold by the English, it became an important Naval base and part still is and off limits to visitors. There is a well signed tour you follow through the castle. There are many galleries inside with the interesting history of the place. At the end of that tour, there are some beautiful large wooden sculptures
Seimen B — Google review
Lovely place to get history a lesson on the area of Brest. The Chateau covers a huge area and housed inside is the Marine Museum. Naval history at its best! Models of ships used throughout France's conquests and exploration expeditions are on display. Plenty to keep the kids engaged. The views of the bay are fabulous as well.
John C — Google review
Excellent maritime museum with loads of displays, models, av displays and audio guide in multiple languages. Just to note that only the entrance and first floor are fully accessible. And the tour goes between inside and outdoors...just in case you're visiting on a rainy day. Allow at least two hours for a visit to cover the full exhibition and not miss out on any time periods of the maritime story. We visited as a family with a 6 and 9 year old and they both really enjoyed it as well, especially since they got their own audio guides and could seek out the next number on the tour. The audio guide is an extra €2pp but worth it.
Lisa G — Google review
The Musée National de la Marine in Brest is another significant institution dedicated to France's maritime history. Located in the historic Château de Brest, this museum showcases the rich naval heritage of France through an impressive collection of artifacts, models, and artworks. Visitors can explore exhibitions that cover various aspects of naval history, including shipbuilding, naval battles, and exploration. The museum features detailed ship models, paintings, and various maritime instruments that illustrate the evolution of the French navy. One of the highlights is the stunning views of the harbor from the castle, adding to the overall experience. The museum often hosts temporary exhibitions, workshops, and educational programs, making it a dynamic place to learn about maritime culture. If you're in Brest, it’s a must-visit for anyone interested in naval history and the sea!

Just wonderful. Such a nice place, specially when it's not crowded 😅 haven't got deep into the forest yet, will at some point next week but the entrance itself is already amazing, very high trees. Nice sky. Well signed. At first glance seems like a very closed forest and easy to get lost.

Great place for an easy hike in the forests. The hiking trails are easily accessible through the town of Huelgoat. I recommend to visit the following places: La Grotte de Diablo, Cap d'Artus and Grotte d'Artus. I recommend to plan for at leas half a day to enjoy this place without any stresses.

One of the most magical places I've been to. The forest is quite massive and has loads of places to visit, I went for my birthday with my SO and we both had an amazing time. Heading into the forest you will see incredible natural views and even some wildlife. The fountains you find there are nothing but magical and you truly feel something special walking around in this forest.

A very interesting place to visit and walk. Take strong shoes and you will need to climb to a degree. The trip down to the Devils Cave is worth making but involves steep steps and ducking under rocks. For the not able bodied the lake opposite is beautiful and there are many cafés and restaurants nearby.

The museum offers multilingual information, personal stories from various perspectives, reconstructed living spaces, access to bunker levels, and restored trenches with panoramic views.
Wasn’t aware of any war time installations in the area. 🙄 So, as a history nerd, I had to go there and found a pretty decent museum. Well maintained and very explanatory. It’s basically around a former German artillery position. Interesting stuff is shown.

Very well done little museum with so much history. I enjoyed the personal accounts, which were difficult to read at times but added so much more depth to the experience. It’s much bigger than I anticipated. I thought we’d spend no more than an hour there but ended up taking 3 in order to read and listen to everything. The location is beautiful as well. I highly recommend taking the time to visit this museum and memorial.
Laurel — Google review
Can I give this 6 stars? The museum is set in a German bunker, the scenes inside show how life was at that time. Everywhere are personal accounts of their experiences, hence "Museum of memories" I think these are better than gun displays. There is a room that realisticaly simulates a bombing raid which can be scary. Out side the bunker do go down the trenches for more exhibits.

This is a wonderful museum and I love the way they have framed the stories - both known facts and stories from those who lived the experience first hand. Took us over 2 hours to read through everything. Worth a visit!

Definitely the best museum we have ever visited. Time goes quickly in this WW2 bunker reading the personal stories of soldiers & civilians. My two teens loved every minute of it. The bomb shelter simulation room was incredible. Well done 👏

What an amazing place. Extremely informative across several languages. Excellent set up. Lots of stairs as you go down and up throughout the facility. The experience room was amazingly real. Very scary and thought provoking at the same time. Wow... very realistic!! A credit to the two brothers who put all the hard work together. Well worth a visit!!

Pointe Saint-Mathieu is a stunning coastal point in Brittany, France, featuring cliffside paths that lead to a 19th-century lighthouse and the ruins of a medieval abbey. The area also includes a small chapel and a memorial to sailors lost at sea. Visitors can stroll along the cliffside path adorned with plaques listing the names of boats that have perished over the years. The derelict cathedral adds an intriguing historical and spiritual dimension to the site.
The derilect cathedral in itself was facinating, for there was a spirit there of being in a house of God, but having the heaven above you and remembering who is really our maker and creator and how things of this Earth can be ruined so easily was humbling. However, the coolest thing was have it right there with 3 lighthouses was so perfect. There was a view point as we drove up, and I asked my husband if it would be ok if I just enjoying the stroll along the cliff to the lighthouses. It was a delightful way to start a morning. I also was humbled to put myself in the shoes of those who once lived here long ago, for the fear of invasion was so ever present, and you can feel that when you walk over to the walled area where they would lock the women in and children in to try and keep them safe from Invaders. So many lessons to learn and be grateful for what we have here. So glad we put this on our Tour of France trip.

(Translated by Google) Here, everything is in place to remind us that thousands of sailors, civilians and military, perished at sea to save us from the destructive madness of war, for having wanted to do their job as fishermen or trying to save other sailors in the storm. There will never be buildings grand enough to honor their memory and thank them for their sacrifice. As one of the commemorative plaques placed on the path overlooking the cliff reads: "There are three kinds of men, the living, the dead, and those who go to sea" Aristotle.

(Translated by Google) The church was closed, no information on visiting possibilities to welcome the curious. A couple of parishioners explained to me that all places of worship were closed in the town for fear of damage. So I was content with the exteriors and the ordeal. Far from the tourist circuits, but close to the prestigious parish enclosure of Pleyben, I was delighted to discover this 16th century Gothic church, slightly modified in the 19th century. All historical sites are interesting if you take the time to look at them and study their stories. Prestigious, forgotten or ordinary, I have made it a principle to never compare the sites I visit. Then, when we returned to the store, the saleswoman didn't pay any attention to us. We were expecting to be able to taste the chocolates as agreed, but we had to ask her after 10 minutes for her to inform us that we only had to taste what was presented on the table. She reprimanded us firmly during the tasting because we had the misfortune (innocently) of going behind the counter to taste. When she started refilling the plates, we realized it was time to leave. We had planned to take several things from the store for the children to taste, but we settled for only the bare minimum given her attitude. Too bad... I had the chance to meet and chat with Clarisse, who runs the small boutique "Les Sylphides". He is an incredible person, the memory of Locronan, religious buildings and the department of Finistère. Her shop is admirably kept and she will not fail to chat with little touches of humor. She will perhaps remember me and my wife, because I had the delicacy to say "Mrs. Clarisse" in our conversation, and she spontaneously replied, "phew, it's not Mrs. Claude". I ADORE. For our next visit she promised me a medal, the only one she still has. I will not fail to go see her and pay her a little friendly visit. Of course I did some Breton shopping. While the show is conducted in French, it remains captivating for all ages. Visitors can also enjoy an aquarium filled with fascinating marine life, including local fish and mesmerizing jellyfish displays.
The aquarium was excellent - lots of fish we hadn't seen before and a very curious octopus. We thoroughly enjoyed the bird of prey show, which lasted for around an hour. The animals were incredible and to be able to see them up close was amazing. We had some drinks at the cafe and prices were reasonable. We didn't eat as one of the party has a food allergy, so unable to comment on the food. A fun way to spend a few hours!

Review from an irish, English speaking family with five children aged between 7 and 16. It's reasonably priced for an attraction when you include the bird show. Firstly there are plenty of ample free parking near the premises. We chose this aquarium as it was know for its bird show. Now although only a few, I must admit the birds they had were stunning and well kept. The overall aquarium experience is short, but my children highly enjoyed it. I must warn though, that the bird show is not spoken in any form of English, so its impossible to know what's being said without knowing the language, for us that was only slightly disappointing but when thaught about also to be expected. that being said I could tell by it, that alot of information is given and several questions answered. It's obvious a lot of work has gone into training the birds and the show. I'd highly recommend it to any French speaking tourists.
R R — Google review
A large aquarium also with birds of prey. I always find it difficult to score such places as it's sad seeing animals in captivity. All the animals were well presented and appeared healthy (I'm not a vet). The sea life and tanks were interesting and all the information cards were in French and English.
Nick H — Google review
Great place and well worth the visit. It is not particularly a big place and you do get around it quickly but the birds they have are amazing. They all seem well looked after. The aquarium section is really interesting aswell with descriptions and explanations in both English and French. The staff were all very friendly and the bird show is brilliant. It is only in French ( which is to be expected) so we did not understand what was being said but you can clearly tell they really know their stuff and the birds get so close to you. Delighted we made the trip and would highly recommend.

My family and I enjoyed going here. A shame that we were unaware that the restaurant needed reservations.

George C — Google review
At Aquashow you’re treated to stunning aquariums and a bird show you won’t forget anytime soon. The staff is super friendly – you almost feel like a fish in water yourself. 🐠 The bird show is entirely in French… so if bonjour and merci are the limits of your vocabulary, you might look a bit lost. But no worries: the birds perform without subtitles, and that’s just as impressive. 🐦✨ The rest of the explanations are in both French and English, so you’ll be just fine. All in all: educational, fun, and definitely worth a visit!

One of the things we love about trips to France is visiting the great monuments to mans dedication to God over the past centuries. I don't care what God you believe in, these massive buildings are something to behold. And to think they built them without modern technology, building methods, etc. I find them both magnificent and awe inspiring.

This is a very beautiful cathedral in a very beautiful town. We much enjoyed our tour. Motivated by a GC Adventure Lab we were surprised that two of the stops are within this location. So check it out.
Enrico N — Google review
A beautiful cathedral in the heart of a medieval gem. It has the interesting quirk of a twist in the nave said to be due to problems with the proximity of the river when being extended. Wide range of shops and restaurants around cathedral square.

Beautiful, atmospheric and amazing construction. Wonderful music played during my visit to add to the experience.

Vedettes de l'Odet offers short and longer cruises along the Odet, providing a perfect way to explore the beauty of the Breton Riviera and discover the enchanting Glenan Islands. The archipelago, with its seven islands, boasts white sandy beaches and emerald-green waters that create a tropical-like paradise in the middle of the ocean. Additionally, they provide informative commentary in both French and English during their cruises.
We went on the cruise to the îsles de Glénan starting from Bénodet. Absolutely fabulous! The cruise was great with enthusiastic explanations of our guide on the boat. Fascinating stories involving the audience. Great views, exotic lagoons. Definitely a must do!

Must do : wonderful scenery. Chilax ! You won't regret.

We had a great cruise over the river Odet. The trip was from Benodet to Quimper and back. We saw a great amount of house/manors. My wife and two oldest children has also a boat trip with a fast boat towards several ilands to see the great nature between benodet and the ilands. They als saw seals and a lot of birds. Great trips.
Remco G — Google review
Think twice before booking the boat tour. It's not exactly cheap and we were left stranded in Quimper because we were given the wrong time for the return bus to the port by the booking office. And the bus does not hang around if you are given the right time. We arrived 2 mins late for the correct time. We rang the office for help and we were told to just get a taxi back. With 2 small children in tow and not much French language between us we are hoping to get back in time to have a full blow out with the booking office.

TOURIST TRAP: 49 Euros per person for going to a very small island were you can walk around for about 20 to 25 minutes. Nothing there to see except 2 full bars where people are drinking beers and such. The tour was boring-- most of the Glenan Islands are little pieces of land with nothing on them. Certainly overly hyped but very disappointing in person.
Eric B — Google review
We took the cruise on the l'Odet up to almost Quimper. Enthousiastic guide who explains all the sights in both French and English.
Erik — Google review
They have short cruises across the Odet that only cost a couple of Euros. They also do longer cruises to St Marie. If you don't fancy a cruise then the tourist road train picks up outside every hour. Judy be careful they on Monday's they have they market so the train doesn't go to the port until the afternoon.

Musée de la Pêche is a maritime heritage museum that has been showcasing the area's fishing industry since 1961. Visitors can explore exhibits on net fishing development and even board a real fishing boat to experience its bridge with switches and buttons, as well as the engine room. The museum also offers guided tours for an in-depth look at the displays.
I dragged myself to this museum to kill time while waiting for a bus and my goodness am I glad I did! The focus on all aspects of fishing - from the boats to nets to ropes to the animals to the canning and industrialisation - is strong, the aesthetic is lovely, dioramas are fantastic, and many of the animals are hand taxidermied! The building itself has a beautiful wooden ceiling so remember to look up as you walk around. I loved it so much that I bought a tote and fridge magnets. A really wonderful regional museum.
Rebecca O — Google review
Brilliant museum in historic port. Lots of displays of models and some actual full size fishing boats. A great place for the sailor and historians. I particularly appreciated the little tableaux illustrating fishing, etc
David J — Google review
Fascinating history of the fishing industry from historic times through to the present day. Incredibly detailed models and full size craft. Staff are very friendly and are on hand to add further explanation. Well worth a visit.

Very nice museum. Accessing the old ship was a highlight for me.

Lovely museum with the history of fishing in Concarneau. We, my wife, 11 yr son and me had a good time Specially the old fishing boat was a good Add on.

Took grandson in there, he loved it, easy to miss the door that leads to the Trawler. Lots to look at but not all had dual language descriptions of the displayed items. I had, over previous visits, walked passed thinking it could not be much, for 5 euros, pleasantly surprised.
Colin M — Google review
lots of ficlshing ships maquets, you can visit a real fishing ship too
Natalia D — Google review
What a surprise! One would think something not too exciting, but wow! The models showing net fishing development and how they deploy in 3 dimensions are awesome. But the highlight is the fishing boat you can go on yourself. The bridge has switches and buttons that will amaze you that you can touch and switch. The engine room is a treat and as an American I realized the no damn way would you be able to have that kind of access in a culture obsessed with liability and suing. What a treat!

The Closed City of Concarneau is a historic walled island town with ramparts dating back to the Middle Ages. The town, fortified in the 14th century and later modified by architect Vauban, is situated on a small island connected by a stone footbridge. Visitors can stroll along the ramparts, taking in panoramic views of the bay, fishing and yachting ports. The city's cobbled streets are lined with half-timbered houses and numerous shops to explore.
One of the most stunning places you could ever imagine. Truly unique and beautiful
Terry H — Google review
A small, fortified city on an island at Concarneau. We arrived at low tide, and left as the tide returned. You can walk part of the ramparts but only one ruined tower. Inside, the city consists of essentially 3 streets--1 main thoroughfare & two streets along the castle walls. Most of the buildings are restaurants and clothing or souvenir shops. A lovely view of the bay can be seen on 2 sides, while the other sides show the adjoining town. Historical signs are few & in French only. We visited on a market day, so parking was a pain. We finally found spots about a mile away. Stop on the castle walls side for a less crowded lunch. A photo opp outside L'Amiral for Magritte & Dupin mystery fans. It's free to enter the close.
Chris C — Google review
Very crowdy and full of shops more or less interesting. A walk around the walls is your best option to admire the port, sea and city.
Olivier O — Google review
Lovely, beautiful ancient place to walk around. Plenty of places to sit and drink or eat.
Hank P — Google review
Fantastic historic old city, we have visited 3 times in the last 20 years and are never disappointed. I can recommend the restaurant Le Penfret
Will M — Google review
Well maintained tourist and historical venue. Views from the rampart are great looking backwards the central part of the village.

Arrive early to access parking. You can spend hours in the many boutique shops within the walls. It is like a Tardis with a lot more inside than you would have thought. Lots of shops, Cafes, and a Museum all within the walls. Enjoy the Celtic Bretagne folk music that is often played within the walls. Outside the town has many attractions too with lovely waterfront Restaurants and seafront walks. Fab place to visit.

The area has a raw and elemental charm with wide, shallow beaches attracting surfers and land-yachters. The La Torche surf is the highlight of the Brittany surf scene, providing various peaks suitable for all levels.
Incredibly great surfing beach. We had the phenomenon of fog suddenly appearing during a warm, sunny day and then disappearing again in a few minutes. It looked incredible, it was a unique experience.
Derik — Google review
Clean nice beach. With some pré historical monument and World War II remains of bunkers and command centers of occupied German Army. It's always strong cool winds. Better have neck covers and jackets in cold weathers.

Phare d'Eckmühl is a 19th-century lighthouse, one of the tallest in the world, offering a breathtaking lookout for visitors who climb its beautiful staircase. Despite occasional unpleasant smells from seaweed piles, the surrounding area features charming cafes and souvenir shops. The panoramic view from the top of its 280 steps is truly worth experiencing, making it a must-see attraction when visiting southwest Brittany.
Lovely building with good summary in the free audio tour. Plenty of steps but worth it for the view.

On a warm, calm-sea day, this place is contemplation itself. Take in the lighthouses, but also the mirror-like shoreline as well, out to the furthest in the middle of the sea. Facilities and eateries available, and check out the cute church just a little further up the coastline.
Gordon D — Google review
Huge lighthouse, a tough, physical climb up 370 steps but the view from the top is worth the lung busting effort (I'm a severe asthmatic but I made it) Superbe!!

Nice lighthouse 307 steps to the top.. Adults 4 euro childeren 2 euro
John P — Google review
Imposing and historic. Very good access but best viewed from a distance for best effect. The area has good facilities for visitors.
Andrew C — Google review
Beautiful location. Lighthouse well worth climbing if you have the nerve! Unfortunately bad smell often pervades the area , not sure but possibly from piles of rotting seaweed. I stand to be corrected on that though. Some lovely little cafe and souvenir shops here too.
Andy C — Google review
307 stairs to get to the observation point on top. Unfortunately, the uppermost section was not available for visits however. The view was still great. Not a long activity though. They had discount prices for kids under 10 and for students. The gift shop right besides had good looking postcards too for tourists.
