Santuario de Nossa Senhora da Peneda

Religious destination
Sights & Landmarks
Backed by a massive rocky peak, this sanctuary has 2 bell towers & attracts pilgrims each September.
Magnificent place. The road there is steep and well hidden, sat nav got confused, but if you follow the signs, you'll be alright. The Santuario is impressive. From the side of the charge is a narrow path where you can hike to the above mountain lake passing big waterfalls.
Sheislikea W — Google review
A great place to witness as the mountains surround this beautiful place of worship. Although our visit was short and sweet, it is sad to see the sight of the hotel nearby which looked abandoned during the time we spent there.
Bruno R — Google review
Enchanting place . Definitely worth the visit in any weather. It's best to park down the stairs and to slowymake your way uphill. If you are in geres , don miss it
Yoav A — Google review
In the heart of Peneda Gerês National Park, surrounded by a magnificent natural environment, there is a monumental sanctuary that is well worth your visit! This place is beautiful and perfect for an one day trip.
Eduarda D — Google review
It's a spooky place! But a great view and lots of history. You'll see the power of the church. They always have the biggest and best situated buildings in nearly every european town. That's hard to see but it's worth a break if you're in the park. :)
Jako O — Google review
A fantastic place to visit! Very peaceful and interesting. We thought it was a shame that when we visited we were the only ones there. Because this place is well worth a visit. Simply unbelievable that not more folks visit here. But perhaps it is simply because it is off the beaten track (i.e. not near the likes of Geres etc.). I can highly recommend it!
B W — Google review
Holy Portuguese Jesus! This place is amazing, and also a little bit weird. Make sure you take a peek in each of the little hut things. Bonus, after climbing all those stairs there’s a river off to the side you can dip in. Just don’t plan on doing the hike above the chapel- it’s closed for landslides. Or if you don’t speak the language and do the hike anyways because you don’t know what all the danger signs are saying…walk carefully.

Absolutely brilliant experience! My kids and I (9 year old twins) had the best rime and our guide Helder was brilliant. They loved it and wanted to do it again and again. This is a fantastic experience in the most gorgeous surrounding. We will never forget it!

I dove into an epic canyoning adventure with four friends, starting boldly at the intermediate level—even though I’d never done anything like it before. And let me tell you... it was an adrenaline-pumping, heart-racing experience like no other! Our guides, Ramon and Duarte, were nothing short of amazing—fun, skilled, and always ready to help, making every moment unforgettable.
Mário S — Google review
We did the Level 1 Canyoning. Hélder and Jules were the perfect guides, leading us through a stunning river scenery in a safe and fun way. The whole family had a fantastic time despite different age and fitness levels. We will want to come back. Thank you.
Filipa B — Google review
We had a wonderful morning with the two guides, Elder and Duarte and Nina the Castro Laboeiro dog. The whole trip took 2 hours over the mountain tops and through wooded areas. We had our 11 year old daughter with us but you still need to be quite nimble to climb up and down. I can only recommend this hike
Review M — Google review
Very cool Kanyoning first experience! Jules and Filipe were very pro and reassuring. Landscape was incredible. Must do

PR-G 177 Ruta Canón do río Mao

Hiking area
Outdoor Activities
The PR-G 177 Ruta Canón do río Mao consists of two loops starting from SAN LOURENZO DE BARXACOVA. The shorter loop is a 5.0 km trail that begins at LA FABRICA DE LA LUZ, featuring the stunning LAS PASARELAS DEL RIO MAO and a steep climb to San Lorenzo de Barxacova before descending back to the starting point.
(Translated by Google) Spectacular route along the canyon. On rainy days, despite the metal mesh, the walkways are slippery. Autumn looks even more spectacular, although the river does not have much water.

For those who want more complexity and duration, it can be combined with another circular route that totals 16 km.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful route. I started in Barxacove and left the Mao River passages for last. About 18 km, challenging in the first half, and downhill at the end. (Original) Preciosa ruta.
Pedro G — Google review
(Translated by Google) We have taken the route of the footbridges, to Barxacova, we have continued for about 100m to where the path separates from the river and we have turned back along the same path. The views are very beautiful and it is an easy route to do, simple. There are sections of walkways that have mesh and help to prevent slipping, because other sections do not have it and are slippery, especially if it is wet. There is parking down the narrow signposted path and there is also the possibility of leaving the car upstairs, on the shoulder of the road.
Viajocomoquiero — Google review
(Translated by Google) It was a beautiful route. I recommend going early in the morning because of the heat. There are stairs leading up and down, so bring some cool water. You can park next to the factory, which is the starting point!
Ana D — Google review
(Translated by Google) You start walking along some walkways over the River canyon and it is spectacularly beautiful and super affordable, then you reach a path next to the River and it is also affordable until you reach Barxacova, which is a village. Up to here the route is beautiful and easy and pleasant. From Barxacova we saw that many people turned around or where the village ended, which was the road, they went down there to the cars. We continue to San Lorenzo, and then returning from San Lorenzo to the cars is not indicated. The route is much longer, but we wanted to just do a bit. From Barxacova there is a lot of very steep climbing and the path cuts all the time with the road that has to be crossed every so often, so if you go with a dog you have to be careful and leash it, which although it is not a very busy road it is narrow and mountainous with a lot of curves and two directions.
(Translated by Google) A beautiful route to explore the Mao River and its surroundings. The footbridges are impressive and blend into the landscape.

This place is breathtaking. Views of the Sil Canyon will blow you away! Easy 5 minute walk from car park next to football field.

Beautiful views!! The miradoiro is nicely done and you have a perfect structure to enjoy the view. You have to walk a few meters but it's very easy
Liliana M — Google review
If you are in the area, definitely take some time to walk around and visit this viewpoint – it’s absolutely worth it! The view is truly breathtaking, stretching out across the landscape in a way that makes you want to just stand still and take it all in. We ended up spending about 30 minutes here, simply admiring and enjoying the scenery, and it honestly felt like time well spent. The atmosphere is peaceful and calming, making it a perfect stop to pause, relax, and appreciate the natural beauty around you. Whether you’re taking photos or just enjoying the moment, this viewpoint is a highlight that shouldn’t be missed when visiting the region.

Ourense Thermal Springs is a major attraction in the city, boasting one of the highest concentrations of geothermal water in Europe. Visitors can enjoy outdoor baths in various pozas around the area. The ancient Romans recognized the healing properties of these hot springs, particularly for ailments like arthritis. For a nominal fee, visitors have access to changing rooms, lockers, and showers. While some facilities may be out of order and water cleanliness varies, it remains a relaxing place to visit with family and friends.
Excellent! Clean, well kept and monitored by 2 staff daily. And it's free to the public! Well worth a visit.

The staff were fantastic. The whole experience was great. Very relaxing. The food was cheap and very good and the chef was attentive. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful and the cafe and restaurant worth a visit. A great day out and excellent valle for money in a beautiful setting. I'll definitely go again. I have just moved to Galicia and it was a 2hr journey to get there but well worth the time.

What a truly wonderful experience at the thermal springs! 🤩 I had such a serene and beautiful time exploring all the different thermal pools. I'd definitely visit again if I was in the area. To top it all off, I treated myself to an amazing full body chocolate massage followed by a quick facial. Pure bliss! 🍫💆‍♀️ It was incredibly relaxing and my masseuse was excellent. Highly recommend!

Excelent! The water is really hot and very clean. We paid 6,5 per person and had access to the entire thermal, bathhouse and lockers. They also have a nice bar outside ;)

Termas de Prexigueiro in Ribadavia, Spain, brings back memories of my beloved Japanese onsens. Here you have a paid hotsprings and a wild river hotsprings. For the paid hotsprings, you have 7 pools of varying water temperatures amidst a luscious pine forest. 🌲🌲 Rates are between 5,10 to 5,70€ per adult for 90 minutes. Bring your own bathrobe/towel, swimming costumes and slippers. Bring drinking water to hydrate yourself. There is a changing room, WC and a cafeteria. The WILD RIVER HOTSPRINGS is interesting and popular with the locals. There is a road, closed to cars, just before the parking area for Termas de Prexigueria. Follow the road and walk for about 100 metres. On the left, you will see small pools of cloudy water with a strong sulphur smell. Bring along your towel, swimming costumes and slippers. Enjoy both!

Amazing location surrounded by trees, a small river nearby and pure calm and nature. Unfortunately some construction works are currently happening which spoils a bit the ideal calm and silence to fully enjoy the thermal circuit. Nevertheless, great experience and highly recommend. 5.5€ for the entire 90minutes circuit is a very reasonable price. Tip: take your own towels to avoid having to rent them.

The place itself is stunning, full of fascinating history, and surrounded by breathtaking scenery. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Highly recommend!

Interesting site with a fabulous guide who made it a compelling experience. Tar took questions on an incredible range of topics: the old system of land-ownership, history of the piano and dinnerware manufacturing, conservation of old maps, ... you name it! He spent an extra hour with us, partly to offer suggestions about how to document family history from the 18th century. He is a true Renaissance man. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance.

(Translated by Google) An experience that must be lived and that costs about €22 for approximately 2 hours, which fly by. It is necessary to reserve in advance by calling one of the two telephone numbers listed on their website. Parking is easy in the surrounding area and can be accessed both through the hotel and through the water palace itself. Likewise, you must bring a swimsuit, flip flops, a towel and a pool cap; although there they have free flip flops at your disposal and there is even the possibility of buying a souvenir hat for €4. The use of the mask is optional and they give you a plastic bag to put the towel inside, as well as the corresponding key to the locker that you have to store your personal belongings. Taking photos inside is prohibited out of respect for other people's privacy, but at the end of the day they let me take them since it was empty. What I liked most, without a doubt, is the outdoor pool that is on top of everything. Impossible not to fall asleep there! ¡Imposible no quedarte dormido ahí!

(Translated by Google) The Water Palace of the Mondariz Spa has spectacular facilities in a privileged environment. A must visit if you are in Galicia or if you simply want to spend a weekend of disconnection away from stress. The SPA consists of: a large central pool with water beds, waterfall, jacuzzis, cinema necks, etc. It also has footbaths, an outdoor hot water pool, saunas, whirlpools, vertical jets at different heights, etc. The design of the SPA and its distribution is one of the best among all those in the state, even the best. It is true that 2 of the 6 saunas they have were not working, I hope they fix it soon. Despite this, I give the 5 stars because the treatment of all the staff makes up for it. Many thanks to Belén, Cali and Pili from Reception and to David, Sebas and Julián the Lifeguards for the treatment and attention. Mondariz never disappoints! Interesting to go before dinner and try the local cuisine!! Finally, highlight the Gándara Fountain, where you can drink mineral water with very beneficial properties for your health and which is located right in front of the Water Palace! Igrexa de San Xoán ou San Nicolao

Church
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
(Translated by Google) The church of San Xoán de Portomarín, currently San Nicolao, is a typical church-fortress with battlemented towers as befits the military order of the knight-monks who built it, on horseback between the 12th and 13th centuries. The main facade is made up of a large arch, broken into two parts by a turnachoivas of geometric arches. In the upper part opens one of the largest Romanesque carnations of more than five meters in diameter, very well worked. In the lower part you can see the portal, with three pairs of columns with vegetable capitals. In the interior archivolt, the twenty-four elders of the Apocalypse are represented playing various instruments, around the tympanum in which appears a majestic Christ, very much dressed. In the side walls, with buttresses joined by pointed arches, there are two other doors. In the north one, with marble capitals, strange birds with human heads and the scene of the Annunciation are depicted on the tympanum. The south door is presided over by a bishop, said to be Saint Nicholas, and two characters holding the staff and more of the book. The semicircular apse is divided by four columns with three Romanesque style windows in the bays. The interior of the nave is sober and austere in ornamentation if we compare it to the exterior. Pointed arches end the vault and, between the tall columns on the sides, open wide windows with checkered archivolts. Another beautiful carnation sends light from the roof of the nave. Outro fermoso caravel manda luz dende o testeiro da nave.

Lovely church in Portomarin with interesting architecture and was open after we arrived walking the Camino from Sarria. We were so happy the church was open in the afternoon so we could receive a stamp here. Gave a small donation in return. We wished more churches along the Camino would be open in the afternoons to visit and to receive a stamp. Churches are an important component of the Camino.

(Translated by Google) The Church of San Nicolás de Portomarín, also known as the Church of San Juan, is a jewel of Galician Romanesque architecture and a symbol of the Camino de Santiago. Built between the late 12th and early 13th centuries by the Order of the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem, it combines religious and defensive functions, making it a unique church-fortress in Galicia. Originally located next to the Miño River, in the old town of Portomarín, the church was dismantled stone by stone and rebuilt in its current location in the 1960s. This move was due to the construction of the Belesar reservoir, which flooded the old town. The 16,000 pieces that make up the temple were numbered and protected. The church features a robust structure with high walls, battlements, and defensive towers at the corners, reflecting its military character. Its main façade stands out for its large rose window and a portico decorated with three splayed archivolts, attributed to the workshop of Master Mateo, known for his work on the Portico of Glory of the Cathedral of Santiago. Inside, the single nave is covered with a pointed barrel vault, and the chancel features a semicircular apse. The north and south doors are richly decorated, depicting scenes such as the Annunciation and episcopal figures. Churches are important for more than "getting a stamp"....tourist bunk. Churches need to be attended and supported by our presence and prayers during a Mass.
Colin S — Google review
Romanesque fortified St. John's Church which dates back to 12th/13th Century. It was reconstructed in 1963 under General Franco's regime when the village of Portomarín including Church were moved to avoid the flooding when they dammed the River Miño downstream at Belesar. The Church was therefore moved stone by stone to its current position and some of the original numbering you can still see between stones. The Church is particularly striking architecturally because it's original design was inspired by the Portico de la Gloria entrance porch to Santiago Cathedral. There's a pilgrim mass every evening at 7 pm ehen pilgrims can get their Credentials stamped. The Mass is also popular with locals.

Igrexa da Virxe Peregrina, also known as the Sanctuary of the Pilgrim Madonna, is a late 18th-century chapel located in Pontevedra. The church is designed in a distinctive rounded shape resembling a scallop shell, symbolizing St. James. It features stained-glass windows and a mollusk shell font. The exterior showcases an image of the Virgin Mary dressed as a pilgrim alongside St. James and St. Joseph.
I had the chance to visit the Igrexa da Virxe Peregrina in Pontevedra, and I was truly struck by its beauty. The church’s unique shell-shaped design is unlike anything I’ve seen before, and its neoclassical style adds to its elegance. The interior is peaceful and welcoming, with stunning artwork and details. It was fascinating to learn about its connection to the Camino de Santiago and its importance as a pilgrimage site. The church stands as a lovely symbol of both religious devotion and local history.

Interesting shape of the church in the middle of the city. It is much smaller than I expected. It is free to enter but costs 1€ to climb up to the top of the dome and look down on the inside of the church. Definitely worth the Euro for this experience. It is a stop for the pilgrims on their journey to Santiago.

Terrible, the woman who stamp for ppl is very rude and impatient. She used three of my stamp spots. Don’t come to her for the stamp, it’s a huge waste of life!

The original Virgin Pilgrim Church. Understood that this was a site of a tower under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Santiago. Pilgrims used to travel through Pontevedra and stop over for prayers here. Beautiful church inside with Camino seashell emblems all over the church including confessional box, Benches, statues etc. The pilgrim mass is daily at 730pm and apparently there’s also an English pilgrim mass later in the evening (but we can’t confirm.)

Nice place on the Camino, lobby can use a little work to hide washer and dryer. Room is spacious and bathroom is good. But sink is useless with a faucet handle so big it makes the sink extremely difficult to use
Jim J — Google review
The location is great and that's it.the room is not sound proof, the curtain only closes half way and does not block the light . The mattres and pillow are so uncomfortable that I never fully fell asleep in the nights I stay here. It might be OK if you are doing Camino and so tired so you won't mind, but definitely don't stay here for pleasure. Also pricy for what it is.

Fantastic location. We stayed 2 nights when walking the Camino in early May. Daniel looked after us for breakfast and evening meals. Wonderful traditional food on both evenings which included slow cooked beef which was amazing. He recommended the wine for my fish meal which was delicious. He was very caring and thoughtful. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend to anyone to stay here. Thanks again Daniel for looking after us and thanks to the lady that checked us in and I think carried our bags upstairs

Fervenza do Toxa is a stunning route that runs between Silleda and Vila de Cruces in Pontevedra, part of the PRG-18 trail. Designated as a Site of Community Importance, it offers a clearly marked path with plenty to see along the way. The waterfall can be viewed from both the top and bottom, providing an unforgettable experience despite some access limitations. Visitors recommend visiting during off-peak times for a more peaceful experience.
Beautiful trail to get to the waterfall that is quite impressive! One of the tallest in Galicia. A worth visit if you’re around. Make sure you wear a cape when you get close haha
Giselle J — Google review
The waterfall is pretty nice but it does seem to take ages to walk down to it from the car park. Then you have to walk all the way back up again! The main negative point was the flies - I was literally swarmed by them and it was horrible - thankfully only in the upper half of the path and at the car park and not so much at the waterfall itself.
Ted G — Google review
Great easy trail! perfect for everyone! Nice, gentle walk through a lush canopy of ash, cork, chestnut, oak, and laurel trees—plenty of shade to keep things cool and relaxing. One walking path leads to a mirador perched on massive rocks, where you catch that “wow” view of the waterfall before heading down to the base. I saw families and even seniors mastering the trail with ease. The climb to the mirador does include stairs and some steep sections—but totally manageable, especially if you go at your own pace. I hit this walk at the end of the day, and yeah, I was tired—but everything was doable. The waterfall is a showstopper: a powerful free-fall drop of about 30 meters—one of the tallest in Galicia—and the roar and mist are truly immersive. There are neat stone picnic tables close by—ideal for a quick rest or snack while you soak it all in. On top of the beautiful scenery, the area has a climate similar to the Pacific Northwest, with humidity that keeps ferns and lush growth thriving. You’ll feel it in the air—it’s refreshing, but expect a bit of sticky warmth on the return climb up. Definitely recommend for a relaxed outing that delivers magic every step of the way.

IBERIK Balneario de Guitiriz

Resort hotel
Spas & Wellness
Modest quarters in a high-end spa venue with a chic restaurant, a 9-hole golf course & a forest.
A great place to unwind. The small forest behind the hotel is absolutely charming, I'd return just to hear the birds singing (listen bellow👇, though the recording doesn't do it justice). We didn’t eat at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the food. The balneario was fun and relaxing, but after about an hour, the cold water started to set in (the experience lasts 90 minutes).
Elizabeth D — Google review
The hotel is clean and tastefully remodeled. The setting is peaceful, a forest with the sound of birds singing. The balneario is pretty fun. The hotel is very large, with many areas to explore. But the price gouging at this place is terrible. The balneario costs 25€ per person - already high - and then you have to pay for swim caps and sandals to enter. The food is the worst part. Absolutely awful quality, like hospital food. Poorly prepared and bad ingredients served bland and cold. My husband was served fish that was raw inside. And the dinner is a total scandal at 27€ per person. One of the worst breakfast buffets I’ve ever seen. It just seems like they are cutting corners to save money - for example, there are no amenities in the room and nothing in the fridge - you have to order items one at a time. It’s a shame because a four star hotel should be more enjoyable.
Lauren — Google review
The hotel is set in very quiet natural surroundings, and it is perfect to relax in its well equipped spa (which is a bit steep in price but definitely worth a visit). The buffet breakfast is good and the personnel very helpful and friendly. A good choice for a light dinner was the albariño wine, cheese, olives and delicious croquetas in the bar. The hotel is close to beautiful hikes, Guitiriz is a lovely town and has all the basics like restaurants, supermarkets and petrol stations. It's also very well connected with Lugo and A Coruña.

Balneario de guitiriz is a great place to take a break from your everyday life. We've been there several times, they have really big rooms, beds and room service, everything is clean and nice, even surrounded by the smell of nature all around thanks to the golf courses and the long walk between their century trees. The special water conditions help you relax and get its healthy profits. They have two pools, one for the adults and a the other for children which our son enjoyed a lot. Never the less, the food in the restaurant and the bar has a wide variety to choose from, everything with great quality and great representation of the galician gastronomy.

Additionally, there are opportunities to explore a small hut selling sandwiches and refreshing drinks as well as a fire lookout tower nearby.
The drive up to the top is quite steep with lots of turns and switchbacks. On the way up, we saw wild horses and 2 foals. Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is a magnificent Romanesque structure and a renowned pilgrimage site, featuring the impressive carved arched portico by Master Mateo. The cathedral has undergone various extensions and incorporates elements of Renaissance, Baroque, and Neo-Classical styles. Its different facades showcase diverse architectural influences, from Baroque to Neoclassical.
The architect of this cathedral is beyond amazing, it’s unbelievable. The inside of the cathedral is so stunning, and incredibly beautiful. I had a wonderful experience in the city of Santiago. It’s super nice and clean. The local food and pastries are great. The architecture of the city is wonderful. I really enjoyed it. I really wanted to spend more hours in the cathedral, because it was a peaceful place for me. I already missed that place and I can’t wait to go back.

Everything about this building is extraordinary. The story of its history with a hermit finding the bones of James the apostle, all through to the current day with its modern pilgrims. The old town in which it is situated is a UNESCO world heritage place and is absolutely charming. Worth the visit to Northern Spain to see.

The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is definitely a special place. People from all over the world come here after days—or even weeks—of exhaustion and devotion. Standing in the main square, you can see countless pilgrims celebrating their incredible accomplishments. The cathedral itself is stunning. Interestingly, some parts are built in the Manueline style, giving it a unique character. The main altar is breathtaking, but for me, the most memorable part was the fragrance that fills the space—a rich blend of myrrh and incense that stays with you long after you leave. This is absolutely worth a visit if you’re in Galicia. I came as part of a tour, but even though I’m not religious, I would love to walk the Camino someday.

The cathedral marks the final destination of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and is believed to house the remains of Saint James, one of Jesus’s apostles. Construction began in 1075 and was completed in 1211, with major renovations from the 16th to the 18th centuries that blended Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles into a single monumental structure. Pilgrims traditionally finish their journey by giving a gentle embrace to the back of Saint James’s statue inside the cathedral. One of its most famous features is the Botafumeiro, the world’s largest censer, which swings dramatically from the ceiling during special masses and on the Feast of Saint James (July 25), symbolizing the purification of the sacred space. The main cathedral is free to enter, while access to the museum, roof, and towers requires a ticket. The Pórtico de la Gloria, a Romanesque masterpiece completed by Maestro Mateo in 1188, can be reached through the museum entrance.

The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is without a doubt the most beautiful cathedral I have ever seen, both from the outside and the inside. Its grand façade, incredible detail, and sheer presence are breathtaking before you even step inside. But once you do, the interior is even more stunning — rich in history, art, and a powerful spiritual atmosphere that stays with you. We visited as part of a day tour and were fortunate to have a guided interior visit. The cathedral guide was excellent and we were given earphones so we could clearly hear everything. Learning about the architecture, the traditions, and the significance of this sacred site added so much depth to the experience. The highlight for me was the moment we had the chance to hug the relic of Saint James. It was deeply emotional and something I will always remember. Whether you are drawn by faith, art, history, or architecture, this cathedral is an absolute must-see. It is a place that moves you and leaves a lasting impression.

We walked 100 KM of the Camino De Santiago in 5 days and arrived at this absolutely magnificent church. It is so SO stunning and so big. I felt so awed by how impressive it was. The details are so intricate and the whole thing is just massive - it is such a gorgeous sight.

I believe that the monument I saw in Santiago was the most pleasant! It was filled with pilgrims who had arrived after days of walking! It is truly emotional. It is a massive cathedral with numerous museums to explore. I highly recommend it.

By far the most beautiful cathedral I have seen inside and out. Maybe that’s because I traveled miles by foot to see it but I was truly astonished. I attended the pilgrims mass and even though they said no phones everyone was recording and taking photos which kind of ruined the ambiance. Interesting Historical Clean

Nature & Parks
Fragas do Eume is a well-preserved Atlantic forest situated along the river of the same name. The forest is characterized by oak and birch trees, with hiking trails for visitors to explore. A medieval monastery complex can also be found within the preserve, surrounded by ruins waiting to be explored. The ancient fern forest adds to its mystique, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts. A taxi ride from the city center is recommended as it takes approximately 2.
We truly enjoyed a late afternoon, early evening walk in this park. There are a number of parking spots and walking beside the river was very relaxing. It is very clean with work being done on the first bridge. Will be back to try more paths. Great to commune with nature and a place to relax at the end of a long day.
Manette H — Google review
Beautiful! Amazing! You can take a taxi to the entrance and then take a free bus that can take you to the Monastery or you can walk there, it's 8km or rent electric bikes. We rent the bikes because you can stop on the way and admire the view or take pictures. The taxi it's 11€.
Andreea G — Google review
It's beautiful, but that's pretty much how most of Galicia looks. There are several picnic areas. There are no paths through the forest itself, (or we didn't find them). The bridge is closed for repairs.
Google review
The oceanic park is enormous, and it's one of the best-preserved and largest in Europe. The only downside is that the walk through nature is done on a paved path, which creates a barrier and somewhat disrupts the connection with the natural environment.
Dr. D — Google review
Beautiful area with gorgeous views. Bring lunch and have a picnic. You can take your dog too! Parking is limited so go early! Tip: if the guard says there's no more parking left, wait a bit because as cars leave, they let cars go up.
Michelle M — Google review
Be prepared to walk a lot, up and downhill. Weather was perfect when we visited. Lush greenery, fresh and clear water in the lakes, lovely little waterfalls, beautiful mountain views. Great smoothies at the small cafe, not too far from the monastery, to end our trip.
Shaheer S — Google review
Lovely forest with reasonable trails, lots of nooks and crannies to look around. Not the best signed for where to go, and the phone signal is rough as hell, but most of the rivers are clear as anything, loads of shade and easy routes everywhere. If you are not steady on your feet, could be a little hazardous at times, but I guess you wouldn't be going for a hike if you went capable. Enjoy
Marc B — Google review
Worth the walk. It takes you about 8 kilometres to reaches the monastery. The walk is very pleasant. You can cross the briges to access a more seculated path way, away from the passing bus every 30 minutes. The view is absolutely spectacular and you can see some deers and otters if you're lucky. Most of the visitors are Galician or pilgrims.

Aquarium Finisterrae, located in A Coruna, offers a modern and interactive experience with indoor and outdoor pools showcasing a variety of marine life including fish, sharks, seals, and rays. The aquarium is part of the city's more contemporary attractions along with the Domus and the Science Museum. A Coruna itself has a rich historical background dating back to Roman times when it served as an important port on navigation routes.
Nice trip around the aquarium. Interactive for children. Highlight was staff feeding the 10? seals at 12 noon. Nautilus downstairs was interesting too, a 360 degrees panorama of fish tank. We also spotted some cleaning going on, as in photo..
K D — Google review
Lovely visit to to Aquarium Finsterrae entrance was €10.30 per adult. Highlight of the Aquarium was the seals, several tanks featuring various species. Also on site is a gift shop. Staff were helpful and bi lingual so for the English among us there's no problem communicating. Location is easy to walk from Hercules Tower. Thankyou to the staff that made us feel so welcome.

Beautiful aquarium. It’s mostly in Spanish for those non-Spanish speakers. The exhibits are top notch and so educational. The marine life are varied. It’s a must see. Ask how the got their name!

Nice aquarium with outdoor attraction of seals (only feeding and spain talk about them). Inside there are nice aqariums and many talking about fishes and sea But in spain only - no english. Ticket was fine price (family 28€) and you can pay by card.

Great place to visit good value for money, only downside is there isn't much English translation mostly everything is in Spanish
Sarah R — Google review
came here as a kid, around 15 years ago, and a lot has changed, some for the better, some for the worse, now they have got seals, which are super cute and seem happy enough, a lot of new exhibits and animals, but at the same time, less diversity in the big tanks, only one shark, some leaks and many computers and things you should be able to interact with that don't work or are incomplete. I still recommend the experience, especially for little kids or for people who enjoy sea life, I just hope they fix it up and add more sharks, like when I was a kid.
Daniel F — Google review
The Aquarium Finisterrae was impressively clean and well-maintained. All the fish appeared healthy and vibrant, swimming energetically in their tanks. The informational signs were thorough and engaging, providing valuable insights about the various species on display. Although the aquarium is relatively small, it offered a rich experience, showcasing a diverse range of marine life and creating an immersive environment for visitors.

Sights & Landmarks
The Torre de Hércules, located in A Coruna, Spain, is an ancient Roman lighthouse that stands at 55 meters tall and is the second tallest in the country. It was originally built during the reign of Trajan and has been functioning since then. The lighthouse offers stunning views of the city and coastline from its top, which can be reached by climbing 245 steps.
Definitely the most important landmark of the city and most likely one of the most of northern Spain and Spain itself you’ll get not only immerse at the ancient story of this place, but also in a great views of the whole city and the ocean this place is amazing very well conserved and the tickets were actually very affordable. No doubt you should make this one of her stops my wife and I visit this during the morning and it was very affordable. The climb is moderate hard, bring, of course comfortable clothes and shoes it takes 15 minutes to 20 minutes climbing stairs to get up there, but you can rest up there enjoying a great views just heads up. Be careful of people asking for money in the parking lot. Just stay away if you can get there by public transit better.
Marcos D — Google review
Ticket boot is placed far away from the tower, so if you're coming a different way (from beach) you're going to miss it and you cannot enter. Online tickets are sold out as a rule. Anyway you can walk around and enjoy the wind from the ocean 🌊
Mersida B — Google review
We visited as part of a cruise stop in August. It's Worth being driven to the foot as its an uphill walk. The views get amazing with each step but it does require some exertion. If you want to see the roman ruins inside you need to book tickets. They are not sold at the entry so best check online. If you're tall, you will not be able to walk up straight in some areas but the lightening is good and artefacts are well labeled. There are stone stairs, at least 200, leading to the top of the tower which has even more majestic views. I advise pacing yourself and not being in a hurry to enjoy it fully and take time to catch your breath. Unless you're fit, don't have kids or the elderly with you. If you're claustrophobic this is not for you. Would highly recommend and would revisit at a more leisurely pace in the future. Don't forget to buy the tickets before arriving! You will certainly get your step count in!
Melinda ( — Google review
A spectacular feat of engineering of it's day, understanding the strategic and commercial importance of why it was built is a story in itself. Entry is by ticket purchased at the bottom of the long ramp or on line. Entry is every 30 minutes for a limited number of people ( perhaps 30) there is no one to hurry you and you could stay longer. There is an exhibition of it's history at the lower level then 234 steps (and no lift ;-) ). My only constructive criticism is that the information boards are poorly placed and not illuminated. I couldn't manage to read many of them.
Stephen T — Google review
I would highly recommend you to purchase tickets online. We got here at 2 o'clock and there was no line, and there was nobody here, but they refused to sell tickets, it is a beautiful place. It could be a wonderful sunset. It's a wonderful place to walk around lots to see just to the south, there's more stuff to see if you continue to walk down the boardwalk, I would suggest you be prepared to walk a long way up a hill, if you do not. Have the right shoes nor or have the ability to do so I would think twice about going there. It offers wonderful. It's sunset photos as well as evening photos at night with the lights during the day. They sell ice cream and drinks at night. There is nothing there. There's plenty of parking down on the bottom. And it appears that you can drive up the ramp, if you're handicapped, it does it appear that there is parking but I did see cars parking up there. On the hill, by the door.

The Torre de Hércules is more than a lighthouse — it’s a symbol of A Coruña’s identity. Visiting it is like stepping back in time, while enjoying some of the most spectacular views in Galicia. An absolute must-see for anyone coming to this beautiful coastal city
Haitham A — Google review
Torre de Hercules was such an amazing place to visit! The family had so much fun exploring the grounds. The views were amazing!
Derek C — Google review
The Torre de Hércules in A Coruña is seriously impressive—it’s actually the oldest working lighthouse in the world, dating back nearly 2,000 years to Roman times. Even without going inside, just walking around it is worth the visit. The views of the sea and the city from the cliffs nearby are absolutely stunning. It’s the kind of place where you can just stand and take it all in for a while. There’s a nice open feel to the area, and the mix of history and ocean makes it a really memorable stop.

(Translated by Google) We stayed in the summer for a few days and the house was very cool, although the power went out often when cooking, but the owner solved it for us right away. Cold water came out in some bathrooms. And the reason why I was least happy was because we brought pets and where we booked (Airbnb) didn't say anything about charging for them and when we got there the owner "nailed us" with 30 euros for each one, the truth is that it seemed like a huge blow to me.
