Absolutely brilliant experience! My kids and I (9 year old twins) had the best rime and our guide Helder was brilliant. They loved it and wanted to do it again and again. This is a fantastic experience in the most gorgeous surrounding. We will never forget it!

I dove into an epic canyoning adventure with four friends, starting boldly at the intermediate level—even though I’d never done anything like it before. And let me tell you... it was an adrenaline-pumping, heart-racing experience like no other! Our guides, Ramon and Duarte, were nothing short of amazing—fun, skilled, and always ready to help, making every moment unforgettable.
Mário S — Google review
We did the Level 1 Canyoning. Hélder and Jules were the perfect guides, leading us through a stunning river scenery in a safe and fun way. The whole family had a fantastic time despite different age and fitness levels. We will want to come back. Thank you.
Filipa B — Google review
We had a wonderful morning with the two guides, Elder and Duarte and Nina the Castro Laboeiro dog. The whole trip took 2 hours over the mountain tops and through wooded areas. We had our 11 year old daughter with us but you still need to be quite nimble to climb up and down. I can only recommend this hike

Very cool Kanyoning first experience! Jules and Filipe were very pro and reassuring. Landscape was incredible. Must do

Wonderful centenary Spa. Went for the celtic experience and loved it.
Rui P — Google review
The staff were down right rude and only gave us one locker for five people. The exception was one lifeguard who was very helpful. The pools themselves were good with lots of jets and saunas. There were A LOT of people so it's not a zen experience, it's more of a fun occasion to try. Very difficult to park... When we were asked they said to find where you could.

(Translated by Google) An experience that must be lived and that costs about €22 for approximately 2 hours, which fly by. It is necessary to reserve in advance by calling one of the two telephone numbers listed on their website. Parking is easy in the surrounding area and can be accessed both through the hotel and through the water palace itself. Likewise, you must bring a swimsuit, flip flops, a towel and a pool cap; although there they have free flip flops at your disposal and there is even the possibility of buying a souvenir hat for €4. The use of the mask is optional and they give you a plastic bag to put the towel inside, as well as the corresponding key to the locker that you have to store your personal belongings. Taking photos inside is prohibited out of respect for other people's privacy, but at the end of the day they let me take them since it was empty. What I liked most, without a doubt, is the outdoor pool that is on top of everything. Impossible not to fall asleep there! ¡Imposible no quedarte dormido ahí!

(Translated by Google) The Water Palace of the Mondariz Spa has spectacular facilities in a privileged environment. A must visit if you are in Galicia or if you simply want to spend a weekend of disconnection away from stress. The SPA consists of: a large central pool with water beds, waterfall, jacuzzis, cinema necks, etc. It also has footbaths, an outdoor hot water pool, saunas, whirlpools, vertical jets at different heights, etc. The design of the SPA and its distribution is one of the best among all those in the state, even the best. It is true that 2 of the 6 saunas they have were not working, I hope they fix it soon. Despite this, I give the 5 stars because the treatment of all the staff makes up for it. Many thanks to Belén, Cali and Pili from Reception and to David, Sebas and Julián the Lifeguards for the treatment and attention. Mondariz never disappoints! Interesting to go before dinner and try the local cuisine!! Finally, highlight the Gándara Fountain, where you can drink mineral water with very beneficial properties for your health and which is located right in front of the Water Palace!

Religious destination
Sights & Landmarks
Backed by a massive rocky peak, this sanctuary has 2 bell towers & attracts pilgrims each September.
Magnificent place. The road there is steep and well hidden, sat nav got confused, but if you follow the signs, you'll be alright. The Santuario is impressive. From the side of the charge is a narrow path where you can hike to the above mountain lake passing big waterfalls.
Sheislikea W — Google review
A great place to witness as the mountains surround this beautiful place of worship. Although our visit was short and sweet, it is sad to see the sight of the hotel nearby which looked abandoned during the time we spent there.
Bruno R — Google review
Enchanting place . Definitely worth the visit in any weather. It's best to park down the stairs and to slowymake your way uphill. If you are in geres , don miss it
Yoav A — Google review
In the heart of Peneda Gerês National Park, surrounded by a magnificent natural environment, there is a monumental sanctuary that is well worth your visit! This place is beautiful and perfect for an one day trip.
Eduarda D — Google review
It's a spooky place! But a great view and lots of history. You'll see the power of the church. They always have the biggest and best situated buildings in nearly every european town. That's hard to see but it's worth a break if you're in the park. :)
Jako O — Google review
A fantastic place to visit! Very peaceful and interesting. We thought it was a shame that when we visited we were the only ones there. Because this place is well worth a visit. Simply unbelievable that not more folks visit here. But perhaps it is simply because it is off the beaten track (i.e. not near the likes of Geres etc.). I can highly recommend it!
B W — Google review
Holy Portuguese Jesus! This place is amazing, and also a little bit weird. Make sure you take a peek in each of the little hut things. Bonus, after climbing all those stairs there’s a river off to the side you can dip in. Just don’t plan on doing the hike above the chapel- it’s closed for landslides. Or if you don’t speak the language and do the hike anyways because you don’t know what all the danger signs are saying…walk carefully.

Cariina F — Google review
Staff is friendly, but don't fool yourself, even if the price is on the low side, you won't have an amazing experience but only a good enough experience. Main pool has about 5 jets not working. The one where you seat and should have bubbles coming out of the chair only 3 out of 6 work. The showers near the sauna 2 are out of commission (only 1 works), and doesn't matter how much you press the hot water button - only cold comes out. The thermal water room is OK, but even the thermal water sprinkler system is a bit damaged (the T coupling gushes out water, so it's quite hot in that spot and then not so much water goes out to the very last sprinkler. Overall, water is good and if you are not put off by the rest you can enjoy it. We came with grandma and kids and it is as ok. It's a shame as the potential is here, but they are letting the equipments fail and run the place down to the ground. They could make a nice enough experience and be a calling card for the region... But meh 3/5 stars and I'm being a tiny bit generous
Manuel R — Google review
I love the sulphur steam room! It's a bit tired and old, with some things not working, but overall it's good value, and good staff.
Sean J — Google review
A lot of facilities are out of service, saunas for example. But outdoor part is pretty much nice.
Maksym K — Google review
Cold water and non-functioning amenities in the expensive (15€ for one hour) thermal spa. Staff dismissive and could care less about the user experience.
AmigaV P — Google review
this is relaxing and reasonably priced place to enjoy the (treated) hot spring waters of this famous areas. The place is a cross between a basic spa and a municipal swimming pool, it's seen better days, but it's comfortable, clean and the facilities that are open are relaxing,. it wasn't too busy, but booking online ( or by popping in and reserving) is recommended. The staff were very friendly and informative, and you'll need flip flops and a hair covering to use the pools. you can rent them for one euro, along with towels. The hot spring waters don't smell ( as they have been treated) but are a good hot temperature, the main pool having 15 different jets to enjoy, some very strong, for shoulders, back, thighs, arms, etc. Very relaxing to do the 'thermal circuit', around the pool, the building is a big glass atrium ( time your visit to sunset if you can, lovely light with the water) , there's a bubbling bath of steaming water with copper and steal beds to lay on as the waters do their magic to your aches and pains. .... towels thick, sauna not working but there was a discount in the ticket price, pleasant happy staff and easy parking. We have done a wide range of hot springs in this area and these spa type baths are worth a visit, a relaxing, fun few hours which leaves you feeling healthy, warm and your skin super soft. We walked home along the river bank walk, right outside the Spa, feeling great. The changing rooms could do with some renovation, but this is a service supplied by the local authority, and it's pretty good for the price you pay. well worth a visit, even if you're not that interested in hot springs or the properties of the thermal waters of this region.
Eric — Google review
Nice spa with massages and a nice pool.
Carlos E — Google review
If you're looking for a professional therapeutic massage don't go here because you'll pay 50€/hour of poor service/equipments. This is a good place to relax in the water circuit (12€/pax - weekdays) and that's it.

Granaries of Soajo

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The Granaries of Soajo are a group of 24 traditional corn storage structures located in the quaint village of Soajo, Portugal. Dating back to 1782, these granite granaries are built on top of a mother rock outcrop and feature a central common threshing ground. They serve as protection against rodents and floods, showcasing unique agricultural techniques from the region. Visitors can explore the picturesque village streets and witness the historical significance of these ancient granaries.
Really amazing, traditional place which conveys the spirit of the old days. Apart from the attraction itself, the views are breathtaking, especially at sunset but it also looks beautiful in starlight.
Kama W — Google review
There are many graneries in Portugal but the collection of community graneries i had not seen. Beautiful setting and well cared for. Parking lot very close. No designated entrance...Just walk up. The parking lot is also for hikers on 2 sections of the PR. Restaurants and small convenience stores available.
Polly S — Google review
Go during the week as less busy. Nice drive up. Beautiful views.
Monica D — Google review
Definitely worth a visit. A unique and fascinating place with a strong sense of history. The 24 granite espigueiros (communal grain stores) stand together on a single rock. The stone “mushroom” supports were designed to keep out mice. Walking among them gives a real feeling of community life in the past. Beautiful views, authentic atmosphere.
R N — Google review
Located in picturesque Soajo. Being one of the ancient cities of Portugal, this little town and surrounding area does not disappoint. Come check these out and grab a bite at Maria's next door.
Christopher S — Google review
The granaries were constructed above ground to provide ventilation, drying and to keep rodents out They are almost always adorned with across above them to ward off evil spirits and discourage thieves
Gordon N — Google review
They are all over this beautiful village
Ruth W — Google review
Soajo is an amazing pace. Not only because of the ancient granaries, but because the farm animals still roam the streets, and the older women still wear black and carry heavy loads on their heads. Brilliant museum too.

Picturesque waterfall in a tranquil forest setting with a natural swimming hole.
A beautiful waterfall accessible from the road in 5-10 minutes. The waterfall has a few small pools in between, which are safe to enjoy a dip in, but there is a challenging wild path to get to them.
Jan S — Google review
This is one of the most popular waterfalls in the region, so you really need to arrive early to enjoy it properly. I recommend getting there between 07:00 and 08:30 if you want a good parking spot and a peaceful moment before the crowds arrive. 🚗☀️ The walk to the waterfall is short and easy, and the view is beautiful — especially in the early morning light. 🏞️ Bring your camera and maybe breakfast for a perfect start to the day. --- For more tips follow me on Google. I have a lot of maps and places to visit all around the world 🌎 all for free for my followers on Google Maps.

Pretty water fall. Easy enough walk to it. We parked where the road ended and the dirt road started. You can hike down to the base and swim if you want. Lots of water pools on the way up to sit in the water. Also a hike up to a view point by the parking area.
VN — Google review
Very nice scene, but you can't get very close.
David R — Google review
A very challenging and long single track road with sheer drop on one side to reach this point from Geres so beware! But the waterfall was very pretty and it is a beautiful area ..not enough water in October for it to be truly spectacular
H W — Google review
A good hike to this beautiful granite rock face waterfall. You can hike ( reasonably hard ). There is a hike path, that is labeled but I could work it out so I used the road. The other option is to drive to the waterfall. The time you save can be spent swimming in one of the many small pools ( that requires a bit of careful minor rock walk). Now I did not read up prior to the hike else I would have driven up and enjoyed the nature swim. But the hike was good for my body and soul so it was not in vain. I am happy my body is in good shape😜 I added some pictures of the mushrooms that I found along the way. I am certain there are some edible mushrooms out there but my knowledge stops with Chanterelles only. One picture shows the village where I started the walk, so you know how much is the climb. That picture is midway the climb. Coming down was easy, I ran some of the sections. All in all it took my 4.15 hours with a 10 to 15 mins on the top. But expect a longer duration if you are not a hiker.
Viren A — Google review
Very nice place to visit, you can park at the beginning of the dirt road and go by foot (10mn walk) but feel free to take your car/van closer to the waterfall since the dirt road is ok to drive and you have a lot of spaces to park your car or even bigger vans; the place people take bath in this waterfall requires you to go through an unmarked trail and basically go trough the river up to the bottom of the waterfall, since the official visit leads you to the top of the waterfall
Pedro G — Google review
A beautiful place. When we visited (a sunny day in October) it was very crowded. Because of the extended warm season, there was not a whole lot of water going down. Will definitely visit again during spring-time!

Very pretty and energising waterfall. You don't need to walk that much to get to this view, it's just 5 mins.. but the path is a bit complicated for beginners. Also parking space is very limited on the road side.
Anil M — Google review
Lovely area , we entered by the small windy hilly mountain road at the top part of the falls , we were in a campervan and the parking was a bit tricky , roadside parking only on the narrow roads , we walked down the steps and along a gravel path and over rock forms to get to see the upper part of the falls and the lovely rock pools filled with crystal clear and cold water . It’s free to visit and worth it , to sun bath here on a hot day would be lovely .

A natural pearl to cool off and swim in the hot summer days. The water are very cold even in Sep. the end of the summer and their color is amazing and transparent. A great place to spend some time and relax.

Mega schöner Wasserfall, Paradies! Can absolutely recommend this place, feels like heaven! Rocks can be slippery, so take care when walking on them, the water is of course super cold and fresh, but also super clean!

They are currently working under the bridge. (For at least 150 days!). So you can‘t get into the water. The water is brown from the workers! No nice view, no swimming! Don‘t go now there. It ain‘t worth the way!!!

This area is not for beginners and climbing can result in death if not careful. It's beautiful but if you love your kids I would not let them run around here. There are multiple waterfalls and a bar topside so you can get some refreshments. Be careful!

Miradouro da Pedra Bela is a popular lookout point in Geres, offering stunning views of the Cavado River and surrounding mountains. Accessible by car, it's recommended to park a short distance away and walk the rest of the way. The trail through cedar and birch forests leads to this dramatic viewpoint, providing breathtaking vistas of Albufeira de Canicada reservoir and the southern region of Peneda-Geres National Park.
A very beautiful viewpoint, definitely worth visiting to admire the landscape.

Nestled in the charming town of Ponte de Lima, the Ponte Romano-Gótica de Ponte de Lima stands as a testament to centuries of history. This magnificent stone bridge, originally constructed during the Roman Empire and later renovated in medieval times, is not just an architectural marvel but also a vital part of the town's identity. As you stroll across this historic landmark, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Lima River and its picturesque surroundings.
🎉 Ponte de Lima Chess Festival – A Cultural Journey with Every Move I came to Ponte de Lima for the Chess Festival in April 2024 — a quiet town with deep roots and timeless charm. Unlike the buzz of big cities, here the pace slows down, letting you breathe and focus. And during the tournament, I had the rare chance to face off against two Grandmasters — a personal milestone that made the whole trip more than worthwhile. 🌳 Beyond the tournament hall, the town came alive with a weekend market along the tree-lined promenade. Local artisans displayed pottery, books, and crafts, while the gentle flow of the Lima River reflected the relaxed rhythm of the place. It felt less like an event, more like being part of a living, breathing cultural moment.

Simply stunning Roman bridge , walking over it and imagining how many people and years it took to build and the innovation of the era simply blows my mind and it still stands very proud . The arches of the bridge are illuminated with a long string of lights either side every night and is lovely to see . This is “a have to experience” piece of history for all to enjoy.

Medieval roman bridge which gives town its name Ponte da Lima. Beautiful sight in evening. We have visited two times and it is a lovely place to spend some time. Walk across the bridge. Area around has lots of restaurants and cafe.

Beautful spot. Take a detour to visit Ponte de Lima for this bridge alone but take the time to have a wonder around...

Very nice and romantic place for a stroll with your spouse. Mid July quiet but I hear it gets very much crowded in August with the flee market installed along the shore of the river.

This is true gem on camino portuguese. Ponte de Lima and its bridge give an authentic feeling of medieval Europe. One of the prettiest mid size towns in Portugal. Must see

The Portuguese Toy Museum, also known as Museu do Brinquedo Portugues, is situated near the Ponte Romana bridge and Santo Antonio da Torre Velha Church. The museum showcases a wide array of toys from Portuguese manufacturers dating back to the late 19th century up to the mid-1980s. Visitors can explore various manufacturing techniques and materials while admiring an impressive collection of dolls, cars, trains, toy soldiers, and sandbox toys.
Absolutely loved this museum! It is laid out very well with language options in Portuguese and English. The museum is not only a trip down memory lane but also reveals how toys evolved as history changed. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I think I'm envious of the staff working in the model train area! Definitely worth the 3 euro entrance fee!
Gaybrielle H — Google review
We like this museum a lot. You can see first original board games, dolls, soldiers and so on ... All authentic for Portugal. It's on two floors, very well organized. It has a small garden with just two toys, but the botanical gardens is next to it. The town is lovely and if you have time you should visit it. Family ticket cost 6 euro.

Great experience overall. Most of the staff was great. One lady at the micromodels room was a bit rude when we asked where we should continue the visit.

Wow...great museum if you love old toys. Great history of the Portuguese toy making industry. Well laid out. Staff was lovely. Don't miss the train section!
Alan Z — Google review
This was one of the very cool toy museums we were in and we visited quite a few. There is a lot of info on toy making and the context of this industry. Many exhibits are sorted by producer, Portuguese ones. Then they are sorted by theme. And in the end you get some train mechanisms and also a temporary exhibition, ours was about primary classes books and objects.

Don’t miss it if you are in the area. From the turn of the 20th century until the 1980’s, Portugal had dozens of small toy manufacturers. Lovely little museum, very friendly staff, don’t miss the model train display near the gift shop. Beautiful T-shirts for 3.5 Euros!

Bom Jesus do Monte is a renowned sanctuary and pilgrimage destination located on a hill near Braga, Portugal. This UNESCO World Heritage site features a neoclassical church, exhibition, and picturesque wooded gardens. The highlight of the sanctuary is the grand Baroque stairway leading to the Church of Bom Jesus do Monte. Visitors can ascend the 577 steps or opt for a scenic ride on the water-powered funicular. The site also offers an elevator for easy access.
One of the most beautiful and visited church in the country. Visited this old church with a travel group and this was the best part of the tour. The church complex has multiple gardens, statues, a church, a gift shop and even a elevator tramp. The church itself is very beautiful and the architecture is marvelous, with stunning interior. There is a gigantic staircase present which one can climb to reach here from the bottom of the hill. This place is worth a visit and with its historic significance, this should be on your bucket list.
Akash B — Google review
It's an amazing construction and is beautifully set into manicured gardens just outside Braga. It is lovely to walk around and is a site that visitors to Fatima include in their itenary. Tough going in a wheelchair, but you can get into the main church. If you do visit and you have a car, go the extra few km up the hill to Samiero.

A truly stunning location with lots of history. The walk can take a few hours if you fancy a lil stroll through all the features. I suggest you start from the top of the hill as it will be lighter on the feet. Got an Uber to the top and the walked to the bottom.

Bom Jesus do Monte – A Must-See in Portugal Bom Jesus do Monte is one of those places that leaves a lasting impression. The moment you arrive, you’re struck by the majestic baroque stairway, beautifully designed with fountains, statues, and intricate details at every level. Climbing it feels like a journey both physical and spiritual, with breathtaking views as a reward at the top. The sanctuary itself is stunning, set against a backdrop of lush greenery, and the panoramic views over Braga are unforgettable. Whether you walk up the grand staircase or take the funicular, the experience is equally special. It’s not just a religious site but also a place of serenity, history, and beauty—perfect for reflection, photography, or simply soaking in the atmosphere. For me, visiting Bom Jesus do Monte was a magical experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone exploring Portugal.

Lovely sight to visit even in the rain and mist. A little overrated but might have been better, if I didn't have an injury affecting mobility. Funicular was great.

A must see sight in Braga. There are 573 stairs but it didn't seem difficult to get to the top as you stop at each level to take in the sights. Totally worth it to experience the sanctuary at the top. A beautiful church, gardens and amazing views. It is very tranquil.

Is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its monumental Baroque stairway, which features chapels and fountains, and its beautiful neoclassical church. It's a significant Christian pilgrimage site and a popular tourist attraction, offering stunning views and a unique experience combining spirituality with architectural and natural beauty. Its monumental staircase, known as the Sacred Way, ascends the mountain with allegorical fountains and chapels depicting the Five Senses and Three Virtues. The site is also notable for its integration of natural elements like granite, water, and vegetation with man-made structures, as well as the historic, water-balanced funicular that transports visitors up and down the mountain.

Lookouts
The Bom Jesus Funicular is a convenient alternative to climbing 577 steps to reach the top. This engineering marvel features two tracks and carriages, with water tanks under each carriage that are filled at the top and released to use gravity for movement. While some may find the fare of 2 euros for a 2-minute ride questionable, it's a unique experience showcasing antique mechanisms.
One of the must see places, when visiting Portugal. Unique atmosphere
Lenka K — Google review
I love the idea of going up by train, but unfortunately, the employee who drives the train didn’t speak any English, which is slightly frustrating because it’s a tourist place.

Not organized around schedule, selling tickets, boarding, etc. The ride is nice but the ticketing and onboarding process needs a lot of improvement

A short ride, take visitors to the church that is located on the mountain
Daud — Google review
I do hesitate with the rating as it was like 2 euro for 2 minutes so doesn't sound like a good value for money. But it is indeed quite unique in terms of antique mechanism and looks cute:) Also helpful for people who'd struggle to climb 550 steps, although for reasonably fit person it's around 15 minutes and it's nice to walk! The park, gardens and views are beautiful. Unfortunately the information was scarce and the operator didn't speak English. I'm not entitled but it would help if some more info was available.
Magdalena P — Google review
Well worth a trip. Difficult to find if you are not looking out for the signpost to the Funicular once on the road up to the church. Only one signpost from the main road. The Funicular at Bom Jesus is an amazing piece of engineering-There are two tracks and carriages. There is a large tank under each carriage which is filled with water at the top and when it is released, gravity takes it down the track while at the same time pulling the second carriage up! The tank was emptied completely at the bottom and (I think) water pumped back to the top to start process again. Completed in 1882. - Such inventivenesses

If you want to have fun in a very old transportation this is the place. When you arrive to the top just admire how it operates (with water on it- hydraulic lift). You pay 1.50 just to go up and +1 if you want to come back using it. Otherwise, as we did just come walking thru the stairs. we arrived at 11 am and almost not cue, we got back to the same place to leave at 4 pm and it was very crowded You have some options of restaurants in the top of the hill To come here just search for bus number 2 from downtown. Super easy. Pay 1.60 euros per person. You need to use cash. Have fun!

Ancient Ruins
The Castro de Santa Trega is an archaeological site located atop a hill, showcasing the ruins of a Celtic castro dating back to the 1st century B.C. The site also houses a museum, providing visitors with an educational experience. The summit can be accessed by driving up and parking in a small lot, though it can get crowded during peak tourism times. Despite its lack of handicap accessibility, visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal, and surrounding areas.
What an incredible place this is!! To be able to witness the remains of an ancient settlement is simply amazing! Inhabited since 100BC-100AD according to archaeological evidence, even though there is some evidence indicating people’s presence here well before this timeline!! All you can do is sit, watch and ponder what it must have looked like back then! Further up the Monte Trega there is a restaurant, a hotel and some souvenir shops and plenty of car parking space. It’s an area well worth visiting!!

On the top there is bar toilet, some gift shops etc. Remember to walk around and change path going down as there are more houses around not only on the main way!

Monte de Santa Trega, located in La Guardia near Pontevedra, is home to the archaeological site of Castro de Santa Trega, a former Castrexo-Roman town dating back to 4th century BC. The mountain boasts a natural scenic overlook providing breathtaking views of the Mino River Estuary, Portugal, O Rosal valley, and the Atlantic Ocean. Visitors can explore different viewpoints on the mountain and admire two prominent mountaintops at its peak.
Magical experience, I guess the all point is to reach the highest point and enjoy the view that shows Spain in one side and Portugal to the other. Instead, once we reached the top, we found ourself on the top a layer of low altitude clouds that coverd the land and the sea too. It felt like being in a dream, and the historical building are beautiful too!

You don't have to pay if you go up before 10am. Stunning prehistoric hilltop settlement dating back to 500BC housing up to 3000 people. Worth the climb to appreciate the views and historic importance. Part of installations including Celtic Museum, Chapel, stone crosses, restored huts, restaurants and souvenir stands. Saw a small colony of swifts on my last visit too.

What was once free to go to the top of the Mountain (maybe 4kms) is now paid. You pay 3€ for the car and 1,50€ for each Adult or teenager. A car with 5 persons will pay 9€ if they don't tax the driver as well. 9€ it's a robbery! After asking the Tourism they say you have to pay even if you don't enter the mini museum on top, or really anything, because " The whole mount is a museum" even if you just want to drive up and down like in any European road. We are in the European Union, how are we paying access to a road???

Guimarães Castle

Sights & Landmarks
Guimarães Castle, perched on a hilltop, is a Romanesque fortress believed to be the birthplace of Afonso Henriques. Dating back to the 10th century, it's an iconic landmark in the city and one of Portugal's Seven Wonders. Originally built in wood and mud for protection against Arab attacks, it was later reconstructed in stone. The castle holds historical significance as the birth site of Portugal's first king.
This 10th century castle of the first king of Portugal is a piece of architectural marvel. It is spread over a vast land with a palace and a church just outside the castle. The castle itself is not that big, but is well preserved and maintained. The entrance gate is big and it has stairs to climb to the top of the boundary wall and one can explore the entire castle. They also have a 3D show happening at the top of the castle. This is worth a visit.
Akash B — Google review
Imposing building that can be seen from all around. The original structure is largely still fully intact, however they're is no interior to look at, side from the room where the virtual reality experience is held. The wall walk is essentially all there is, however yes still very impressive, with stunning views all around, including it the palace nearby.
Jamie P — Google review
Guimarães Castle is the impressive ruin of an ancient fortress, believed to have been one of the first residences of Portugal’s early kings. This stronghold was originally built to defend the surrounding lands and played a key role in the country’s formation. Today, visitors can explore the remaining towers and walls while enjoying a fascinating VR experience that recreates what the castle looked like centuries ago. It’s a great way to imagine its former glory and understand its importance in Portuguese history. Definitely worth a visit — especially if you’re interested in medieval architecture or the origins of Portugal itself.
Murillo P — Google review
Nice Castle, short walk around. Lots of history here. 360 virtual tour was cool. If your going to visit, either buy your tickets online or visit the ducal palace first and buy Combo tickets there first.
Theo K — Google review
The castle of Guimarães is a must-see and truly impressive, full of history and atmosphere. However, the online ticketing system is a real nightmare: the process is unnecessarily complicated and PayPal is not even available. It’s a shame that visitors have to go through such a complex journey just to get in. On top of that, the central tower was closed without any prior notice, which was disappointing. Overall, the monument itself is absolutely worth it, but the management of the visitor experience could and should be much better.
Claudio C — Google review
Parked far away so walked a lot, but discovered great cafe and walked through old town after castle and chapel. Entry is free for Portuguese and 5euros each for castle and palace for tourists. Visited Sep 2025.
Angela P — Google review
A very weird place. Just four walls and that's it. The only interesting thing is the tower and it's closed. In one loophole you can buy water for €2, in another you can watch a 3D cartoon for €6. What's the entrance fee for? The creepiest attraction in Portugal.
Иван З — Google review
It is a scam for the tourist. You pay 5.31euro to see 4 walls in 5 minutes. You cannot even enter the central tower. Don't go to this place. There is plenty of castels much more interesting like in Obidos, Silves, Sintra or Montemor-o-Velho. I was really deceived and I could have spend 5 euro to get 4 bananas, 1 bottle of water, 2 packs of granola and 3 packs of lemonade. Just stay outside is really enough and enjoy the photo I posted. The Palace Duques de Bragança is a medieval residence located above the historic center of Guimaraes, Portugal. Constructed in the 15th century, it boasts distinctive towers and cylindrical chimneys that dominate the city's skyline. Once a barracks, it was restored and transformed into a museum in the mid-20th century. The museum houses period interiors, notable tapestries, porcelain, weapons, and personal belongings of the Duke.
Absolutely captivated by the Palace of the Duques de Bragança in Guimarães! A truly immersive journey into Portuguese history. The beautifully preserved rooms, rich with tapestries, furniture, and artifacts, really bring the lives of the dukes to life. The architecture itself is stunning, and the informative displays (or guided tours!) make it a genuinely enriching experience. A definite highlight of my trip – highly recommend!

The palace grounds have some nice huge trees, benches, … very nice area. Inside, the walkthrough has nice examples of tapestry, furniture, and such from the Baroque era. The history of the palace ties deeply into the history of Portugal, so well worth visiting. Plus, Guimarães is so charming.
DeFuSe — Google review
I really admired the historical objects, furniture, paintings and weapons inside; the explanations were also quite in detail. It would have been a better visit if there was more information about those who have lived in this Palace and also so situate it's importance in Portuguese history.
James P — Google review
The Palácio dos Duques de Bragança is a modern reconstruction of the original palace, and it’s clear that several contemporary features — such as the distinctive chimneys — were added during restoration. While these newer elements somewhat alter the authenticity of the original design, the site remains impressive and historically significant. The entrance fee is very reasonable, and the palace’s location right next to Guimarães Castle makes it convenient to visit both in one trip. The building is clean, well-maintained, and still manages to convey a strong sense of Portugal’s past. Despite the reconstruction, it’s definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in architecture, history, or simply exploring the heritage of Guimarães.
Murillo P — Google review
A truly beautiful property with elegant rooms, detailed carpets, and many historic objects that give the place a very special atmosphere. You can buy a combined ticket for the palace and the castle, which costs only 8 euros and is absolutely worth it. The whole site is peaceful, well maintained, and definitely worth a visit.
Isabell S — Google review
A must visit place if you are in Guimarães. The site is both beautiful and offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of people from centuries past. The chapel, in particular, was stunning. Keep in mind that waiting times can be lengthy, especially on hot days, so it might be wise to visit during cooler seasons. Free admission is available for residents of Portugal.

Impressive building with lots of history. Gets quite busy and there's not a lot to see for the entry price - especially with the building works currently going on. If you buy the castle ticket say the same time, there is a discount.

The Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira (Church of Our Lady of the Olive Tree) in Guimarães is a deeply unique and historically resonant landmark, central to the city's identity as the birthplace of Portugal. What sets it apart is its Gothic architecture and its profound connection to King John I and the Battle of Aljubarrota, as he ordered its reconstruction in the late 14th century as a vow of thanks for the Portuguese victory. This makes it a significant symbol of Portuguese independence. Adding to its distinctiveness is the "Legend of the Olive Tree", which gives the church its name. According to tradition, an ancient olive tree in front of the church miraculously revived after being cut down, leading to the placement of the Padrão do Salado (a Gothic shrine commemorating the Battle of Salado) right outside its doors. The church's interior features notable 18th-century altarpieces and a revered image of Our Lady of Oliveira. This blend of historical significance, architectural evolution, and local legend makes Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira a truly singular site.

It stands majestically on the top of the hill. Massive in shape but light and airy in the interior. Gorgeous views of the surrounding areas from the top! Plenty of parking available at the top.

Well worth a visit , more for the sights from this vantage point of tge city of Viana de castelo. The Church itself is recent compared to other monuments in Viana. Use the little funicular car to get there.
Darryl P — Google review
Great views from the top. Definitely visit for them. There is a cafe at the top. But it was already shut at 530 pm, with still more than 2 hours to go for the sunset. Visit at sunset time maybe better. Walk up there from town centre is a 30 min scramble involving a lot of steps. I did that, but one may want to consider a taxi.

Beautiful Sanctuary with amazing view of the city of Viana do Castelo and all the surrounding areas. Visit the interior and marvel yoursel with the small but amazing art murals. You can take the funicular to visit the city after.

Elevador de Santa Luzia is a historic funicular that provides a convenient and enjoyable way to reach the sanctuary and viewpoint on Santa Luzia hill. It has been in operation since 1923 and is the longest funicular in Portugal, offering a scenic ascent of 650 meters. Visitors can choose to take the funicular or opt for an adventurous hike up the 400-step trail. The ride offers stunning views as it climbs over two thousand feet in about seven minutes.
Very well prices at only 3 euros for both up and down (can be used seperate days). There's a lovely church at the top. The views are amazing! I stayed at the hostel next to the church and had an amazing sunset view. Would definitely recommend going.
Sara M — Google review
Great funicular, good view, the car itself is small so limited seats, it takes approximately 5 minutes from bottom to top, currently 2€ one way or 3€ return, recommend coming back down on the stairs nice walk 20-30 minutes, entrance to stairs right beside the top funicular exit. Great views from the top.
Rob — Google review
I would recommend anyone visiting Viana do Castelo to go up to see the Sanctuary of Santa Luzia using the Elevator / Funicular system. It’s a very nice experience and you get to see a bit of the city and waterfront as you go up/down. My only suggestion for improvement would be the ventilation system. It was a hot and sunny day (25°C) and with 15 people inside the “Elevador” it got extremely hot and stuffy. You have trips every 15 minutes and on each trip you can take around 15/16 people. Price: One way - 2€ Round trip - 3€ Kids, adults and senior citizen pay the same price.
Paulo C — Google review
Well we didn't get to go up. The queue was over 40 people and it takes 20 people each time, and it runs every 15 minutes. Too long to wait on a hot Sunday afternoon......
Philip W — Google review
There can be a wait, it was hot, but it is very inexpensive and definitely worth the ride up the hill(you can always walk down afterwards). The cherry on the cake is the “igreja” en cima.
Gordon L — Google review
The Elevador de Santa Luzia is a great option for going up or down to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The price is reasonable, and if the elevator’s schedule fits yours, it’s definitely worth taking. The ride offers beautiful views, and in just about 10 minutes, you can travel comfortably between the top and the bottom.
Murillo P — Google review
Lovely 100 year-old funicular up to the beautiful church at the top of the hill. Fascinating how the xars going up and the ones coming down avoid each other. Amazing but short experience.

The Gil Eannes Foundation offers a unique glimpse into maritime history with its namesake vessel, the Gil Eannes. Launched in 1955, this century-old ship has served various roles, including a supply ship and floating hospital for fishermen braving the icy waters off Newfoundland and Greenland. Now transformed into a museum, it stands as a testament to Portugal's seafaring past and the Estado Novo regime.
Old medic ship called the Gil Eannes, that was used as a medic ship for cod fishermen in the North Atlantic sea(Newfoundland and Greenland). Lots of info and rooms to see 5 different decks even a medical operating room. For €5pp not a bad price. Will recommend if visiting Viana de Castelo. Also has a audio tour but we didn’t do that.
Akira W — Google review
This is a must see, it has been lovingly restored and maintained, you will get to see how a hospital ship worked and how the crew lived. If you like ships and history then go on this vessel. 5€ entry fee is well worth it. Recommend weekdays or early mornings on the weekends
Rob — Google review
This hospital boat permanently moored at Viana do Castelo is well worth a visit but be warned there are steep narrow steps between the decks as you navigate your way around . It is a very interesting boat giving you an insight as to the working conditions the sailors have to endure to save lives . It cost €5 and I’d say it is not money wasted and recommend you visit .
Aidan M — Google review
The Gil Eannes offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of a real Portuguese naval hospital ship. It is impressively well maintained, with exhibits that vividly portray life at sea. There’s also a small but charming bookstore on board, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The entrance fee is fair, and overall, the visit feels worthwhile. If you’re in Viana do Castelo, it’s definitely a place you shouldn’t miss.

Absolutely a must to be visiting the old but very good ship lady and to study the technology of the past.

We were really impressed by all the original fittings and equipment from 1955, all refurbished and looking like the ship was still in use. Engine and machinery space, bridge, galley, crew quarters, X-ray room, medical facilities etc were all properly equipped. There is a lot of information about the ship, its use and the Cod fleet. Would be nice in English but then we would have spent all day on board! An informative film with English subtitles tells you a bit about the hard and dangerous business of salt cod catching.

The Igreja Matriz de São João Baptista is a marvelous church that was constructed between 1496 and 1518, showcasing the rich sculpture in the Manueline style. This architectural gem is adorned with intricate carvings on its main portal, representing a fusion of Late Gothic and Spanish Plateresque styles. The church's construction was initiated during King D.

Beautiful church sits above the Vila do Conde market. Fantastic frescos, argoiles and stain glass windows. It is as if the building were sand blasted. For October 5th, a national holiday, we watched a very cute, traditional parade. See the video. Very proud marchers.
Charlie W — Google review
The construction of the Matrix of Vila do Conde was driven with the passage of King D. Manuel I by Vila do Conde, on his way to Compostela, in 1502, which in addition to a personal contribution poured taxes on the people and the nuns of Santa Clara to the construction of the new matrix. The fair of the Fair of the Fair, of December 5, 1502, gave precise instructions on how this church should be built. However, this project was widely changed with the construction of the Absidial Chapels (1507) - today dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary and SS. Sacrament. Note the construction of the portico and the influence of João de Castilho, at this time. In 1518, the date of sacred, the Church had three ships and only later acquired a cruciform projection with the construction of the transept chapels: the Holy Body or Our Lady of Boa Viagem (1542) and that of St. Miguel-O-Anjo or Our Lady of the Assumption in (1561). The Vila do Conde matrix was thus voted as a markedly Manueline space, for the maritime motifs expressed in the decoration of the portal, the chapels arcs (especially the transepto), the baptismal source and the rich decoration of the vaels of the Mor, Absidial Chapels and the transepto. The following centuries brought the enrichment from their interior. In the seventeenth century the bell tower was built. In the eighteenth century the interiors of the churches adorned with the golden carving, the result of the gold that the Portuguese removed from Brazil. The matrix was made up of thirteen gilded altaries, which today present themselves in this way: on the side of the Gospel - Lord of Bonfim, St. Anthony, Our Lady of Piedade, Our Lady of the Assumption (Chapel of the Transept), Our Lady of the Rosary ( ABSIDIAL CAPELA); On the Epistle side the altarpieces of Our Lady of Conception, souls of purgatory, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of the Boa Viagem (transept) and Blessed Sacrament (Absidial Chapel). The Mor Chapel has a altarpiece, with throne under the panel that represents the baptism of Christ by St. John the Baptist and, below this, the image of St. John the Baptist, flanked by the images of St. Gabriel and Our Lady Mother of God. Of the eighteenth century is the pulpit and the panel of the sacristy. In the twentieth century, under the impulse of the canon mons. José Augusto Ferreira did an important work of improvement. The openings were covered by Polychromic stained glass seasons in France: the central window represents the last supper; The naves the life and death of St. John the Baptist. In 1908 the Commander Bento d'Aguiar offered the pipe organ.

Igreja do Carmo

Sights & Landmarks
Igreja do Carmo, also known as the Church of Lady of Mount Carmel, is a stunning baroque church in the Baixa district. Its exterior is adorned with intricate tile mosaics depicting scenes related to the founding of the Carmelite Order. Connected to its twin church by a narrow residence, it houses numerous oil paintings and elaborate gilt altars inside. The church's neo-gothic architecture and traditional market nearby make it a popular destination for visitors exploring this charming area.
The Igreja do Carmo in Porto is an absolute architectural highlight and a deep dive into the unique history of the city. If you're walking through the center, the first thing that grabs you is the scale and beauty of its exterior, particularly the massive south wall covered in stunning blue and white azulejo tiles. It's truly breathtaking! Inside, the church is made with the Rococo style, but the real adventure begins beneath the floor. Visiting the catacombs and the hidden annex was a surprisingly moving experience. The most charming and unique part of the visit, and one I highly recommend, is discovering the Casa Escondida, the tiny house tucked right between the Igreja do Carmo and its sister church, the Igreja dos Carmelitas. It was famously built to prevent the nuns of Carmelitas from interacting with the Carmo monks. Walking through it gives you a fun, intimate perspective on the historical complexities and urban planning of the 18th century.
Kristel H — Google review
This church is just steps away from the famous book store in Porto. It costs €7 to enter and they normally ask you where you're from. It's a large enough church but what makes it unique is that they have several balconies inside the church what you can go to and get a different view from above. There are many different levels leading to a small outdoor balcony overlooking the town square. You can do this activity in about 1 hr and a half or take as long as you need to
Raykay J — Google review
The church was built between 1756 and 1768 for the Third Order of the Carmelite Order, designed by José Figueiredo Seixas in a mix of Baroque and Rococo styles. It stands side by side with the Igreja dos Carmelitas (Church of the Carmelitas), separated by the narrow Casa Escondida — a hidden house with a minimum width of just one meter. The striking azulejo tile mural on the side façade was added in 1912, designed by Silvestre Silvestri and produced in Vila Nova de Gaia. Inside, the church features lavish gilded woodwork, with a series of altars illustrating the Stations of the Cross, arranged in sequence alongside the main altar. Visitors can also climb to the upper level for a scenic view of Porto from above. ※ Admission includes access to Casa Escondida (Hidden House).
Seokjin H — Google review
I didn’t get the chance to go inside, but this place is a beautiful church from the outside. The tiled facade is lovely, even though part of it is currently covered maybe for protection or restoration. It’s located in a nice area that’s great for walking around, and definitely a good spot to stop and take a photo. 📍Tip: If you’re visiting the city center, it’s an easy and worthwhile stop plus, it’s close to other landmarks and cute cafés. Great for a quick break and some photos!
Adriana B — Google review
The interior is opulent. The main altar is splendid. Pulpits are nicely adorned. Paintings are fabulous.
Percy C — Google review
7 euros but you have access to all areas, it is worth it to visit. You can go to the roof but the path on top is narrow, I went early but with a lot of tourists probably is not pleasant. You have access to the pulpit and top area where you see the main floor and the altar.

Igreja do Carmo in Porto is a stunning baroque gem with an iconic tiled façade. Don’t miss what’s inside. The small museum (7€ per adult) and catacombs add a mysterious, intimate layer to the visit, and the rooftop access offers a rare, panoramic view over the heart of Porto. A hidden highlight well worth the climb.

Mariana was a great host, very professional and kind. She explained everything we needed to know about Port wine. The tour is around 1 hour. It’s very fascinating. Stroller friendly. Wine tasting at the end, we can take as long as we want to enjoy the drinks. Definitely a must visit!

Caves Ferreira is an absolute must-do when visiting Porto! The tour is perfectly paced, lasting about 45 minutes. It does a beautiful job of mixing history and tradition with the compelling story of Dona Antónia Ferreira. The guides are excellent at bringing the heritage to life. Logistically, the experience was seamless. Our group was conveniently sized (around 30 people), which made the tour engaging and comfortable. We also had no issue booking a tour on the same day (we secured an afternoon slot by booking in the morning). The experience culminates with a great Port tasting, we got to sample three different types, which was fantastic, followed by a well-stocked shop where you can buy a wide variety of their wines. Highly recommended for an authentic and convenient Port wine experience!
Grzegorz O — Google review
We had a great time at this port cellar on a tour and tasting. The tour was very interesting and we learnt that it’s the only port cellar in Vila Nova Gaia to stay in Portuguese ownership. We enjoyed seeing the barrels and understanding the port maturing process. The vintage cellar was fascinating with bottles dating back to the 1800s and displays of advertisements through the years. We enjoyed the port tasting at the end of the tour - it wasn’t extensive but a nice way to end the tour with a drink. We did pick up some nice gifts from the shop.
Cruise L — Google review
Caves Ferreira is a must in Porto! It’s the only big cellar still fully Portuguese-owned, and the vibe inside is like stepping back in time. The tour mixes history, tradition, and the story of Dona Antónia Ferreira beautifully—and the port tasting at the end is the perfect finish.
Sara D — Google review
Caves Ferreira is one of the oldest and most storied Port houses in Portugal, and one of the few still under Portuguese ownership. Founded in 1751, the Ferreira name has become synonymous with quality and tradition, but the heart of the story belongs to Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, known affectionately as “A Ferreirinha.” Her leadership saved the family business and helped countless farmers during the phylloxera crisis of the 19th century. She was admired for continuing to pay her workers for three years even after the vineyards were destroyed. The cellars themselves are impressive: vast, cool, and filled with the deep scent of oak and aged Port. The lighting is dim, golden, and theatrical, perfectly framing the rows of barrels and casks, some dating back generations. Our guide shared stories of the Douro Valley, the different styles of Port, and how time, wood, and blending shape their unique flavors. The tasting was generous and well-paced, featuring a range of Ports from ruby to aged tawny. We even stayed after the official tasting to enjoy an extra round. Caves Ferreira is more than a Port cellar: it’s a living piece of Portuguese history, beautifully preserved and deeply personal. The wines are outstanding, the storytelling is first-rate, and the atmosphere is unforgettable. If you’re in Porto or Gaia, don’t miss it.

Really nice experience, fun but also educational. The tour guides are really kind, explaining everything thoroughly, perfectly paced tour. The wine testing came with a lot of information and some laughter. There is also a store in the facility from where you can buy wines or various souvenirs. This is a small Port winery established since 1890s with a lovely adjourning Vinum restaurant overlooking the beautiful city. All the wine making and corking process is still being performed traditionally by hand. The port tasting was interesting as I tasted rich and sweet to nutty and smooth (my first time). The dinner was gastronomical (grilled sausages, crispy pork belly, wine pairing, etc.). 😋

Graham’s winery was amazing! The small museum is very interesting, and our guide was excellent, fluent in English and shared lots of fascinating details. The port wine tasting was great as well. Portions for the food pairings could be a bit bigger, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience.

We visited for a late-morning pre-booked English tour & tasting. We walked from Porto, which was all fine until we started to climb to Graham's - it was a challenging walk on the roads, with very teeny tiny shoulders! We arrived with only a few minutes to spare for our scheduled tour time. The exterior grounds and view are GORGEOUS - absolutely spectacular. If I had realized they were that nice I likely would have just had a drink on the terrace to soak it all in. However, the tour was mostly interesting; longer and more detailed than I had anticipated it being. I'm glad we did it, though I don't remember any of the information provided now. I think we had the misfortune of being in a tour group with some rather pretentious types; I felt a little bad for the tour guide (who was very friendly) as some of the guests seemed to be peppering her with some snooty-seeming (to me) questions. Maybe it was just a handful of bougie travellers, I don't know. The tour was followed by a tasting in a large, open room; we just did the basic tasting of 3 ports (I'm not a Port person, but the LBV was good) but I noticed others likely purchased one of the upgraded experiences with tasting items, etc. That part was mostly left on our own to taste, after the guide explained things, which I liked. We walked through the shop at the end, took another look around the beautiful landscaping and terrace, and hopped on an Uber back to our next destination!

Went here at open and everyone was super accommodating and nice. Did a tasting and bought lots of goodies at the gift shop. The shop is fully stocked with amazing stuff at great prices.

The views are the best of any port winery in the city and the tasting rooms are very nice. I just wish I’d skipped the “premium” tasting (the “six grapes” blend was horrible) and cheese “pairing” (quite bad) in favor of the nicer tasting options.

Highly recommend the guided tour and tasting. This is the best place for that and our guide was very knowledgeable about the port wine!

Praia de Matosinhos is the largest beach in the Porto region, conveniently located just 15 minutes from the city center. While it may not be the most picturesque, its golden sands and suitable waves make it a popular spot for surfing and bodyboarding. The beach also offers surfing schools where you can rent equipment.
It's a beautiful beach. ✅ It's long and has very fine sand. ✅ There are taps for washing hands and feet. ✅ Free changing rooms are available. ✅ There are sufficient parking spaces. Don't forget: It's free after 1:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

Lovely beach with a wide expanse for the sun worshipers. Thete was a red flag flying and an official looking sign saying no bathing. There were however lifeguards on duty. It appears that officially the water quality does not meet the approved standards but people are allowed to use it nevertheless. That is my interpretation of what I observed. There is a municipal drsin which empties into the sea nearby.

Day trip from Porto on the metro and although the town is nothing special apart from the fish market the beach is amazing and very popular. Weekends are much busier than a week day. Great day out to sit by the sea having lazy lunch.

This is part of a continuous coast line in porto with many people flocking in for sunbathing, surfing, some beach sports or to take a dip in the sea. The beach is clean and has a lot of sand but it does not compare with other prominent beaches in the country. Strong winds make this place ideal for surfing.

The Praia de Matosinhos is a beautiful, vast sandy beach near Porto, popular for sunbathing, surfing, and beach sports. It lies along a continuous coastline attracting many visitors seeking relaxation or active water sports. The beach is clean with soft golden sand, though it is less scenic than other Portuguese beaches due to the nearby port and industrial areas. Strong winds and sizeable waves make it ideal for surfers, supported by local surf schools. At the southern edge stands the historic Castelo do Queijo fort, a charming site with great views and affordable entry. The beach's lively atmosphere is complemented by numerous excellent seafood restaurants and a vibrant promenade lined with cafes and bars. It's easily accessible by metro and perfect for a half-day exploration filled with culture, nature, and gastronomy

Good place to take a stroll on the beach. You can also bike on the extended boardwalk

A magnificent stretch of golden sand just north of Porto, prized for its consistent Atlantic waves. It's a hub of local life, where families spread their towels, surfers paddle out, and the scent of freshly grilled fish fills the air from the waterfront restaurants. The recently renovated promenade is perfect for a long, leisurely stroll or a bike ride, connecting a series of inviting coves and rock pools.

1st of January 2025 I wish I lived here. This beach in Porto offers stunning Atlantic Ocean views with strong winds and impressive waves. The beach itself is well-maintained and clean, boasting beautiful, clear sand perfect for sunbathing or enjoying a picnic. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of people here today. There were a few people (men) playing volleyball in their Speedos 🫣, however, most people were wrapped up warm for this winter morning in the beach. The atmosphere was great and I could even see some folk down by the water getting their first dip of the year.
