Absolutely idyllic place to stay. Breakfast on the gorgeous terrace provided by the wonderful Vanessa and her delicious cakes couldn't be better. Our room was bright and spotlessly clean with everything you need for a few days holiday. Pefect location.

Great location direct access to a beach. Very clean and tidy, facilities are good, cooking facilities, fridge/freezer, utensils etc. Lovely shower room and wc area. Plenty of wardrobe space and hangers shelves and drawers.

The place is stunning, the view is breathtaking. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and welcoming. Breakfast on the terrace of Montalbano with a spectacular view is not to be missed. Furthermore, the whole team was very welcoming, nice, and always available. Too beautiful, we will return :)

One of the undoubted highlights of my life. The location, the views, and the sunsets are outstanding. The rooms and use of the living room, dining room and terrace make this an immense joy to stay here. Ivana and her colleagues make you feel very much at home. Punta Secca is a small but perfectly formed place, may it and Casa Montalbano never change.

La Casa Di Montalbano was an absolutely charming little BnB! Ivana and her team—Simone and Agata—were so warm and welcoming, and extremely available for our every need. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the breakfast was delicious. We took our mom here for her 70th birthday, as she is a big Montalbano fan, and it was so fun to stay in the house and get the full Montalbano experience. There are also some AMAZING restaurants in Punta Secca. But that wasn't all there is! Punta Secca is very well connected to the southeast part of Sicily. We took day trips to Siracusa, Noto, Ragusa, Modica, Piazza Arminaria (to see the Villa del Casale Romano), and we also managed to squeeze in a beach day at Marina di Ragusa. All in all, we had an amazing tip and would highly recommend this BnB to any lovers of Montalbano, or even just of Sicily!

Simply the best place on earth ! Very welcomed team, very clean, apartment equipped of beach front umbrellas and chairs, fully equipped kitchen and given sea towels too ... I cannot recommend this place more than ever. With the best view and located ON THE BEACH, you will have a dream coming true time ... This location is very beautiful and unique. Regrettably, the area is littered with plastic waste from the sea. It's disheartening to observe such a unique place squandered due to a lack of proper protection and conservation for future generations. It's essential to raise awareness about environmental protection and encourage responsible waste management to preserve this beautiful place for future generations to enjoy.

At the end of April the place is very calm and quiet. There is a lot of space with tiny sand. There was some rubbish, though.

Beautiful sandy beach, clear, blue water. We were there on a weekday and met only a few people by the sea. However, there is a lot of garbage around, the showers were not working (maybe they were elsewhere too), there are no tracks, so after crossing the dunes, look for a way to get back.

The Penna Furnace was built between 1909 and 1912. The site of "Punta Pisciotto" was chosen for several reasons: the sufficiently deep seabed for ship docking, the presence of a nearby railway, a clay quarry about 200 meters away for raw materials, and ample water availability from a local karstic spring. The facility produced bricks, exported to many Mediterranean countries. Operations ran from sunrise to dusk, May to September, and ceased with the onset of rain. The furnace's activity ceased on the night of January 26, 1924, due to an arson that destroyed it within hours. A discarded letter attributed the act to socialists.

An interesting piece of industrial heritage overlooking some splendid sea views. A must visit for all Montalbano fans as it was filmed as the notorious 'mannara'.

This place has a history and a mysterious one too as to why it closed. It's just ruins but the panoramic view from there at sunset is breathtaking!

very nice place just at the end of sampieri beach. there are fences so you cant really get in, for safety purposes, but is just nice to walk around if you are in the area.

Interesting location and the history of why this place has been burned down to stop industrialisation. This place was giving work to a hundred people and somebody thought this was not good! Stunning beach around and no facilities. So bring your water!

Love it here! The Lido is well kept, the staff is friendly and depending on the wind you can either swim or do some light snorkeling. The view on the island and the Southernmost sopt of Italy are also lovely.

The lido itself is a really nice place, well organised with quality food, good cocktails and good services in general. The Duomo di San Giorgio in Modica is absolutely stunning! It’s a beautiful example of Sicilian Baroque style and sits high up on a massive staircase with 250 steps, giving you amazing views of the city. The church itself has this grand, three-tiered façade and a really intricate interior, full of details that show off Modica’s rich history and artistic flair. It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is pretty cool. If you’re fit enough to tackle the steep stairs, you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views of Modica’s terracotta rooftops. Definitely a must-see if you’re ever in the area!

We never got our meal because they forgot due to a 'busy service' but did not bother compensating or making an effort to apologise. Showers need to be paid extra. Toilets are not the cleanest.

Nice, this quiet beach was a bit windy. For laying sunbathing and reading a book . But had a lovely walk. When walking back towards the wind, stay right on the beach where the Sands damp so you don't get sand in your eyes.

We had a tour and wine tasting led by Fabio. This lovely man spoke fluent English and introduced us to their wines. It's definitely worth taking this tour so you can taste the delicious wines they make here. The tour lasts about 1.5 hours, including the tasting, but reservations are required. It's a small-scale winery with a rich tradition.

Very pleasant visit guided by Fabio, who gave us a good insight in the winery and the wine making process at COS, from vine to bottling. Good timing, since we could taste the juicy grapes ready for harvesting and also see the pressing of the grapes. Tasting was very good and interesting due to Fabios sommelier skills. Fabio is a very nice person and speaks fluent English. Highly recommended.

We love the wines for years. This time first visit and degustation of selected exciting wines. Very friendly sommelier & a cute dog! :) We adore their philosophy of letting wines change and adapt to specific conditions in the year of harvest. Greetings from Germany!

We had a lovely tour and tasting with Fabio. The wine was so delicious and the winery itself is beautiful. 10 out of 10 recommend visiting.

Second time I have been to COS and it was just as fantastic. Fabio led our group around the vineyard and the cellar thoroughly explaining the wine regions history and the wine making process of COS. We then had an amazing tasting with some fresh bread and estate made olive oil. Fantastic!

Love this place! Contacted them last minute and they squeezed us in. I’m not the most knowledgeable on wines but Bruno made us feel so welcome and that all questions were good questions. Learned so much and had so many great wines. I will be buying and enjoying their wines for a long time now thanks to this visit. Absolutely gorgeous setting, people and wine. To go place when visiting Ragusa. You can park on nearby parking places. Be sure to pay the parking as there is lady comming regularly checking license numbers for valid ticket. You can see the whole park and go by walk to old city which is just next to it. Lot of cafeteria and restaurant and shops. This is the nicest park of Ragusa.

Vendicari is beautiful. With the ticket you get access to 5 beaches. Walking to each take plenty of time so decide on one or two to visit if you really want to walk. Otherwise go by car. Note. The road is bad. You will find many cars coming and going both ways. Be careful not to scratch your car against the plants/branches coming towards you. A bit of a pain in the bum. Otherwise the beach is beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful reserve. Amazing bird life and very hot in summer bring water and be prepared bathrooms are more of a bush wee !! There is however along the trail the most incredible beach for swimming and just the most unbelievable beautiful clear water. Take a cozzie. And definitely wear it because there are no changing rooms.

It was a great decision to go there. We saw flamingos on the distance but also it was a nice walk around. We were at the beginning of December and it was nice weather so we could see the birds. Amazing experience.

We were here during low season. The parking was free and we had a beer with caponata in the bar. The food was excellent, the place quiet with great service. Staff was very good. The walk to the beach is no more than 20 minutes and is easy to do with sandals. Only problem is that the beach was windy. We visited the Cathedral of Noto and were truly impressed. Getting there was very easy – it’s about an hour’s drive from Catania on a smooth and convenient highway. Parking was no problem at all, we even found a free spot right next to the cathedral, which was a big plus. The cathedral itself is located right in the heart of the city, just as you’d expect. While there were some tourists around, it wasn’t overly crowded like in Taormina, which made the visit much more pleasant. The cathedral is stunning from the outside, but equally impressive inside – and best of all, admission is free. It’s definitely worth a visit, whether as part of a day trip or even just a half-day tour, since Noto is not a very large town. Still, there are several beautiful sights to explore, and the cathedral alone makes the trip more than worthwhile.

The location is good and interesting, the scenery is great. But you have to figure out some things on your own. First, you can't go into the area by car anymore. At the entrance you have to leave the car (free parking, not too spacious), register your name with the ranger and take a free shuttle bus that keeps going up to the end of the road to the Necropolis North and then back to the entrance. They will pick you up on the way. So far so good. Wish someone had told me in this clarity because the map they give you is useless, but you can go either 1 km by the shuttle to the start of the walking trail and the walk a few km to the end point, or do it the other way round. From the end point you can go down the river and up the other side or simply go back. There are many signposts along the way. Unfortunately, there are no maps showing you exactly where you are. I saw some confusion along the trail. Just bring enough water when it's hot cause you walk a lot and going this and that direction adds up. As long as you end up on either end of the road, you're fine. And it's all free of charge. If organization and information was better, I would have give 5 stars. But it's Sicily after all.

Quite the adventure finding the right paths, definitely recommend downloading Komoot to not get lost. Other than that absolutely beautiful, amazing experience, it really feels like a mystic place, has some Pandora vibes and the guys at the ranger station are extremely friendly.

Lovely valley - great views - perfect escape into nature. I would be cautious when it's raining, the stone in the valley tends to be quite slippery. The official parking was on one side of the road just before the entrance, it was free. Bring enough water!!!

Amazing walk around the valley with more than 3000 years of history. We did a tour of 6km, which took us almost two hours.

Incredible place - very beautiful for a hike!!! A must visit for anyone who likes nature / adventure / hiking / history! Parking wise there was no car park but we just parked near the info point entrance having drive in from Sortino direction. Was easy enough to just park at side of road which goes to a dead end at the entrance. The chaps at the entrance info point were friendly and helpful.

Hot in June/July but such a special experience. Worth going out of your way for if you’re a hiking and/or history buff.

If some moderate hiking and ancient history is your thing (and you have a car or bike), definitely make time for this place when near Syracusa. The scenery is stunning, the burial sites look like they were carved out of the rock yesterday, and you will have a cool place to splash around when you get down to the river. Beautiful place with sweet water coming underneath the sea from the mountains. Full of fish and geese and ducks. Seems to be the only place where papyrus (paper reed) plant still grows in Europe. Too bad it’s not well maintained by the authorities, seems to be pretty dirt, maybe because it’s off season(April).

You can see papyrus here—it used to be a water source for ancient Syracuse. Papyrus is the plant ancient Egyptians used to make early paper. They’d cut the stalks, press them together, and dry them to write on. Fun fact: that’s where the word “paper” comes from.

Freshwater spring almost in the sea which was once the main water source in ortigia. It is a little worse for wear at the moment and sadly the first animal i spotted was a rat swimming across. It's also home to various birds and amphibians

Basically a pond with some fish and ducks. Don't waste your time unless you are nearby at the seafront. It is not worth a special visit. No tickets needed.

Unfortunately, the facade of the building was under renovation and we couldn't see it, but even so, the visit was worth it because inside you can see and touch the original ancient Doric columns from the Temple of Athena. It's quite impressive how parts of this place have survived nearly 2500 years and are so well preserved.

The Cathedral of Syracuse (Cattedrale metropolitana della Natività di Maria) was built over the ancient Temple of Athena (Minerva), erected in 480 BC after the victory of Himera. Parts of the original Doric columns are still visible in the structure, a reminder of the great monument that once stood here. While the Baroque architecture is remarkable, the transformation came at the cost of destroying an ancient Greek temple. It is an important historical site, but the loss of the original sanctuary cannot be ignored.

Unique. A cathedral construction with ancient Greek pillars from the temple of Athena mixed with 18th century Rococo! Set in a lovely plaza. Sit with a beer in the restaurant opposite the cathedral and watch humanity wonder by.

Absolutely breathtaking. I went in with curiosity, but I left completely speechless. The Syracuse Cathedral took me by surprise in the best possible way. Truly one of the highlights of my visit to Sicily. I highly recommend it!

One of my favourite places on a trip to Sicily. Quaint, wonderful architecture, excellent market with grocery and stalls to eat. Some of the best cheeses and calamari. Wear running shoes and take lots of water. It is hot - little shade. We parked in Syracuse just before the bridge in a parking lot. Well work not driving on the island.

A must do destination if you are in Sicily.... Its got everything, markets, churches, fab food, quaint streets, ruins, friendly people, swim in the sea, lots of shops with local handmade clothes and other items

Ortigia, Sicily is a captivating place to explore—rich in history, charming streets, and stunning landmarks. We visited in May when the weather was pleasantly warm but not too crowded. Sunscreen, a hat, and comfy walking shoes are essential. It felt very safe, and the local Sicilian cuisine is a highlight—fresh, flavourful, and varied. Booking a guided tour is highly recommended to truly appreciate the history and stories behind the key sights. A perfect blend of culture, food, and relaxation.

Love Ortigia! So many interesting stories, so much to see and do and taste. If you are in Sicily you need to out this on the list. Tip: take one of those convertible piaggio tours, perfect to see everything

Ortigia came as a ‘must do’ when on Sicily from one of my Italian colleagues And we weren’t disappointed It’s a charming little place to lose yourself in small alleys or just follow the coastline When crossing on of the bridges from Siracusa, make sure to say hi to Arcimede’s statue. If you use your eyes you can find some artisinal treasures amongst the mass produced tourist junk. There’s no shortage of places to sit and enjoy food and drinks Where Ortigia is reasonably well kept snd efforts are being made to keep it that way, sadly Siracusa itself doesn’t fare as well. Still, a nice place to spend a day The one thing we absolutely didn’t like was the sudden influx of elderly tourists when a huge cruise liner moored.

Very interesting history to this place, had much fun walking around and exploring all the beautiful statues. Many people came and it was very busy, also the parking didn’t reall exist and we parked at the side of the road and walked to the front door. But overall it was worth the visit :)

Unfortunately (when i visited), most of the ancient theatre was covered over by modern wooden benches and a stage which is such a pity! You could not even go down into the orchestra area. The views are great and there is a nice ancient fountain at the top. It's just disappointing that you can not see most of the ancient theatre, hence the average 3 star review. However, it is still worth a look if you're in the Neapolis archaeological park, which has loads of other great stuff.

We paid 14 € per person to visit the Greek Theater and the surrounding ruins. While the setting itself is undeniably impressive — you can easily imagine the grandeur this amphitheater once had — the experience overall was underwhelming. There’s very little signage or explanation, and almost no context provided for what you’re looking at. Without a guide or advance research, it’s hard to appreciate the full history of the site. For what’s essentially an unmarked collection of ruins, the admission price feels steep. At the very least, there should be better documentation or a lower entry fee. Honestly, this one should have been free.

Beautiful site near the heart is the city in then archaeological park. If you have time to stop in, this is totally worth the trip. Lots of other Art installations to see and excellent descriptions of each piece.

Amazing place. The art work installation of sculptures was amazing. The information about specific areas of the site was absent. The book shop was closed and so we learnt less than we could have done. My advice is to purchase/ research before you go.

Originally, this place was not on my itinerary while visiting the area. I'm incredibly glad plans changed because WOW is this place cool. I'm a guy who loves caves and natural wonder so this place was amazing. The ticket is a tad pricey at €17 but it was worth it. The ruins and the statues were unforgettable. That and the giant head in the main cave... Nothing can replace that uncanny feeling of seeing its gigantic scale for the first time after your eyes adjust. So recommend.

Very unique and interesting place, that was once a sort of 'special effect' machine for a nearby amphitheatre during the ancient times. It was built to resemble inside of a human's ear, with according acoustics and a special echo effect. Would recommend, definitely worth visiting (even if it's a little too touristy and crowded for my taste).

Very fascinating ancient ruins. They did a good job building accessible pathways so you can explore ruins. It was cool to see side by side Greek and Roman ruins! Including what is described by a sign as the largest Greek altar in the world!! There is a lovely little cafe, of course, on the way in/out as well.

Very impressive ruins, good to read up before you go as not much signage about it. I very much enjoyed the modern art installations, felt it was tasteful and added interest. Plenty of toilets and shade, always worth knowing! Ticket office is opposite entry gates.

Had an amazing morning here. The architecture and the history was amazing and could have stayed their so much longer. We did leave as the heat started to get to us so I do recommend getting their first thing in the morning. The parking is great and we only had to walk for about 5 minuets. Overall was absolutely amazing and highly recommend.

The entry is 18€ for the whole site. The caves, the greek theatre, the roman theatre etc. It's pretty big and beautiful to visit. However, they should work on the path signaling and add some information panels about the ruins. You don't get any information about it. Just some info about the statues and the artist

Amazing place which has preserved the history of various peoples who lived in these lands. The park is quite large, and very much out in the open. Bear that in mind when the weather is hot because it takes a good hour and a half to see/walk through everything. We visited in October and the weather was still 30 degrees, so we struggled a little.

Lovely place and added artwork and statues make it even more special… but chaotic and complicated to get around as signage is not clear. You buy tickets far away from main entrance and cannot get a site map where you buy ticket (why?). Instead you are being send somewhere else for the map. Area of Archimedes’ tomb was ‘closed’ something that wasn’t disclosed when buying €17 ticket.

The Neapolis Archaeological Park in Siracusa is, from a historical perspective, undeniably fascinating. The remnants of antiquity, particularly the famous Ear of Dionysius and the impressive sculptures scattered throughout the grounds, are indeed worth seeing. However, the manner in which the site is presently maintained leaves much to be desired. Tickets have to be bought at some far away shed outside of the park near the busstop and tourist market. Which was weird because in the park there are several large modern, but closed, ticket and information offices, probably funded by the EU. Large sections of the park are either heavily overgrown, inaccessible, or entirely closed off, giving an air of neglect that is most disappointing for such an important cultural landmark. This was not noted at the ticket office. The designated walking routes are confusing at best and, more often than not, simply incorrect. The map provided — in a lamentable state of disrepair — is sadly emblematic of the wider management of the park. Whilst the historical treasures remain, the experience is overshadowed by poor upkeep and an entrance fee of €17 per person which feels unreasonably steep given the overall condition. Particularly regrettable is the fact that the Tomb of Archimedes is not accessible from within the park and can be seen more clearly from the public street outside. In sum, the Neapolis Archaeological Park offers extraordinary history wrapped in extraordinarily poor maintenance. The Ear of Dionysius alone is marvellous, but one cannot help but feel that this jewel of Siracusa deserves far better care and presentation than it currently receives.

As a European archaeology student I got free admission and this isn't my first archaeological park in Italy. Siracusa is a very important site in Mediterranean antiquity and that is reflected by the many monumental buildings visible in the park. However the park is seriously disappointing. The regular price with 17€ is extremely painful and I'm sorry my parents had to pay so much for this experience. Considering that many important areas of the park (I guess 30-50%) are just permanently closed, with no visible effort of reopening, such as the so-called tomb of Archimedes, 17€ for half the park is a scam! They told us to look at the tomb from the street, through the fence... are you serious??? Where is the money from millions of tourists going?!? The conservatory efforts and gardening seem lackluster. Didactic effort was mostly nonexistent. Except for the Roman amphitheatre, there was not a single table or map in front of the monuments, like you know it from any other archaeological park or site. Again, 17€!!!! But instead there was weird surrealistic art that distracted and blocked the view from the archaeology?! The normal tourists were wondering if those sculptures were Roman or not. What made anybody think this was a good idea to confuse people like this? what the hell? And somehow they managed to organise nonsensical information tables for the nonsense surrealism art but not for the ancient monuments?? What is the administration of this park thinking!?! What are the priorities here?? I'm fuming with disappointment, like the Etna. Non va bene così!!😤😡🌋

Nice beach. No dogs, almost no kids. Easy to book on spiagge app or website. The cost is 30€ for one umbrella and two sub beds. The distance between the umbrellas is pretty decent, which is good. No towels, no small table for drinks/food. The territory is very clean and neat. A lot of grass and trees.

The beach is well organized, nice place - this is the reason for giving one more star. The fee of renting a sunbed is just discussing. 20€/ person. I understand that the owner has got to pay the bills and stuff, however a sunbed cost a max of 25 € at decathlon. The place is very nice, unfortunately this was the first and last time here. It is a shame that people would like to come here and enjoy the see, holiday etc. and there is always something that just feels you have been robbed.

Perfect! Nice beach, nice restaurant, nice bar, nice WC and showers facilities, nice view to Etna! Super close by to Catania, you can either reach it by public buses or by Uber. Price wise is good for the facilities and the ambient, is a great place to recharge and relax.

Great beach with really good waves!! Is a beach club during summer and free beach in winter!! Waves here are really good quality on sand bar!! With offshore there are great waves with barrels a- frame!! Best conditions are with waves with south and south-east swells!!

Really nice and organized place. Planning of space for any beach activities with super clean water. Minus one star for not having a non-reserved area. I rented a space for beach chairs and sun umbrella, but people whom didn't was trying to share same spot of me.

I believe it worths the money you pay. 1 euro for the Parking, 5 entrance and Then 15 if you choose an umbrella with 2 beds. The beach is really beautiful.

Simple measures, such as putting up signs and requiring the use of headphones, would greatly improve the experience. Moreover, the water was not clear and was quite dirty, it also had a lot of algae. While I understand that this is not all the club's fault, it did detract from the overall enjoyment of the visit. In summary, without some changes to the current environment, I find it difficult to recommend this beach club for a relaxing day out.

A little run down, 20€ pP for the lounge chairs in the back, restrooms and changing rooms available and in OKish condition. Sandy Beach with a lot of sea weed but clean water with the port nearby, not cristal clear!

My phone showed me memories from our vacation in August, and we were shocked to realize we hadn’t left a review about this wonderful place. It’s truly perfect for relaxation: there are different zones, not too many people, and a very clean beach. We took sunbeds in the first row — the view was amazing, with Mount Etna clearly visible. We also tried drinks at the bar — everything was great. The takeaway food was tasty as well. The location is convenient, and the infrastructure is well thought out, with changing rooms and everything needed for a comfortable stay. A place we would definitely love to come back to!

Felt really safe (as depicted in the photo). Beach was clean. Contrary to the reviews, the place was really quiet, apart from the beach lounge area which has party vibes. Or, maybe because it’s already off season. Unfortunately, the changing rooms are SO far away.

On holiday from Cambridge England, can assure you this is the best beach club with food and drinks at a reasonable price, the seats at the other beach clubs are significantly more expensive for the same experience. come here if you want good service and good beach chairs.
