Karababa Castle

Mentioned on
5 lists
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Karababa Castle, located in Chalkida, is a historical site with a fascinating backstory. Built by the Ottomans but designed by a Venetian architect, its European fort-style architecture stands atop Kanithos hill. To reach the castle, visitors can follow stairs from the main road and enjoy scenic views along the way. The castle offers a peaceful atmosphere and features ancient writings in Hebrew, Arabic, and Greek at its museum.
We just walked around the perimeter, as it was closed on a Tuesday. There's a cafe just below it, though, so still worth the walk.
Elaine B — Google review
Karabara Castle looks really interesting from the outside, but unfortunately it was closed on the day I visited, so I couldn’t go in. Hopefully next time I can explore it properly.
Minas A — Google review
It's free. Nothing special but not a bad way to kill an hour if you are already in the area. Mainly just the perimeter is still standing. There are few interesting artifacts from Byzantines and Ottomans inside. It seems to only be open Fri - Sun
Kent F — Google review
Entrance is free and the museum visit is also free. The view on both side is beautiful, children need to be attended all the time as the stone stairs, pathways and castle edges are not protected. Definitely worth visiting!
Zois K — Google review
Definitely worth visiting. Free entrance. Little museum with fantastic sculptures from Venetian times and interesting history panels in Greek and English. Beautiful viewpoint over South bay of Kalkida/Chalcis.
Cécile E — Google review
Nice place, nice museum open for visitors, a very kind woman who works there
Teodora R — Google review
What a historical place! The ticket is free and anyone are free to enter. Please note that they open from 9am to 15:30pm everyday, except Tuesday.
Chin H — Google review
You can see it after climbing a not-so-tiring hill at the entrance of the city center. The entrance to the castle is free, and there is also a small museum inside that you can visit for free. A nice stopover point that won't take up much of your time.

Old Evripos Bridge

Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
The Old Evripos Bridge, also known as Chalkida Old Bridge, is a stunning arched structure that has been connecting the island of Evia to mainland Greece since its construction in 1962. This iconic bridge spans the Euripus Strait and serves as a vibrant hub for both pedestrians and vehicles. A stroll along this picturesque bridge offers breathtaking views of the surrounding waters and is an ideal way to soak in the local atmosphere.
Nice area with top views from the bridge which it's self is worth a visit seeing the water (tides) changing direction, car drivers seem more polite towards pedestrians than in Athens, food wise I found shop's have Athens prices ,
James S — Google review
Small bridge over Europe’s Strait water. Bridge opens up for sailing boats which is popular among locals and tourists. Euripus Strait is a narrow channel of water separating the Greek island of Euboea in the Aegean Sea from Boeotia in mainland Greece. Many popular restaurants are along the water, close to the bridge.
Manoj — Google review
The Chalkida Old Bridge is an absolute gem that is definitely worth a visit! The sunset views with all the lights illuminating the bridge create a magical ambiance. Taking a leisurely walk along the pathwalk surrounded by restaurants and bars adds to the charm of the experience. It was the perfect spot for us to stay and avoid going to Athens for an early flight. If you're looking for a picturesque and convenient location, the Chalkida Old Bridge is a must-visit destination. Don't miss the opportunity to soak in the breathtaking scenery and enjoy a memorable time by the bridge!
Igor K — Google review
The Old Bridge of Chalkida is one of the most iconic landmarks of the city. Built in 1896, it connects the center of Chalkida with northern Evia, crossing over the Euripus Strait. The bridge is famous for its unique mechanism that raises and lowers to allow ships to pass through. It is a historic monument and a popular tourist attraction, offering stunning views of the sea and the city. It is one of the key stops for anyone visiting Chalkida, and the traditional atmosphere around the bridge always leaves an impression.
Loukas M — Google review
The famous bridge of Chalkida and Evia, one of only 2 bridges that connect tge island with the mainland of Greece. This bridge have a long history because of the water under it witg every few hours the flow change sides. Every day (each time in different hour) the bridge is opening and boats are passing
Roy L — Google review
Lovely place for a short trip from Athens. Best fish taverns and best place for walk close to seaside. Calm city. This aerial photo can show you the beauty of this place. This bridge also used long years before for extreme sports.
Adventure S — Google review
Ancient technology but still strong when walking on it and cars passing by, you can feel the noice. And a ship crossing we well all stoped both cars and humans. And you can hear the noice as they left the bridgle, amaizing. And I love the surroundings restaurants bars et cetera.
Brace K — Google review
I'm glad to have seen this old bridge. I walked over this and admired the Island of Evia from the Mainland side. Looking into the sea, the currents are so strong.

I just finished my advanced AUPRT training. This school is very professional and has highly experienced instructors. I highly recommend it!
Jonas K — Google review
Great service and perfect flying. A joy of a company to work with. The whole service, from the booking, throught to the collection at the airport, transport to the helipad, and flights were all perfect. Thanks to the whole Superior Team!
Gordon W — Google review
We visited Superior Air as we look for the flight academy for our son. Everything about our experience on the day was at a very high level. The staff treated us well and we received a very informative guidance from staff, instructors and current students. Our son was very impressed so we were as well. Thank you Dimitrios for a very high standard hospitality.
Piotr M — Google review
We chose Superior Air for our flight between Paros to Mykonos on August 5, 2024. I only have great things to say about the whole experience. The pilot was great, the helicopter was brand new, and the trip was as smooth as it can be. Highly recommend. 5/5 stars
Babis R — Google review
great service, great pilote and great helicopter!! we used the service twice in 4 days and it was absolutely perfect. congratulations
David G — Google review
Had fun and learned a lot with the (helicopter) instructors at Superior. Small point of feedback is for the communication to be more clear/helpfull pre going to Greece. As i was not familiar with the location, where to go at the airport and where to even access the hangar. Nobody was there to meet me and had to knock on a random door to get directions. Except for that it was a awesome experience with experienced pilots. Would absolutely recommend going there.
Rody H — Google review
Very professional company and the staff are veryfriendly service minded. Great communication via emails and incredible facilities.
Milat S — Google review
I booked my husband for a pleasure ride on a Tecnam P2008JC plane with this fine company. Everything was impeccable, starting from the booking back and forth communication with the staff by email and phone and ending with the enthralling experience itself for my husband. He was thrilled, being a passionate aeromodeller, to celebrate his 60th birthday with this fun ride. All the staff at Superior Air are professional, helpful and courteous, and the facilities were spotless, stylish and impressive. We highly recommend this company! The only downside is it was a little hard to determine where the entrance to this tiny civil airport was, as Google maps pointed us to drive a little further down the road to Superior Air, but the gate was situated before we got to the fenced building so we had to turn around. Drive slow as you come from the Vourkari marshland. The gate is clearly marked 'Civil Airline Authority' and there is easy parking on the side of the road right across from it. Again, Superior Air has been fantastic! Highly recommended and we thank them all so much! 5-stars through and through!

Archaeological Museum of Eretria

Archaeological museum

History Museums
Nice little museum, have your Google translate handy as the signs are in French and Greek. Some pieces reflect the tender side of ancient culture. 3€ entry fee
M H — Google review
The displays are in Greek and French, so if you speak that language I would give it four stars. While not everything needs to be in English and appreciate that it annoys some people, it is however the lingua franca. The museum is small, with detailed displays and exhibits covering the ancient city. Toilets are available and parking is out front. Handy, for walking over the main road to the ruins
Tom ( — Google review
We visited the museum during the full moon in August 2025 and watched an interesting documentary about the recent discovery of the Temple of Artemis, a joint Swiss–Greek enterprise.
Vasileios K — Google review
Small museum with a few surprising unusual pieces, typical of small town museums in greece. The bronze age collection is particularly interesting. Great potential if the ministry took some interest in modernizing the space.
Angelos V — Google review
The staff is not interested in visitors. They just sell tickets. Few words of introduction would be very useful. Ladies do not help at all despite very few guests. The museum concept is fine. What annoys most, the inscriptions about the exhibits - all of them are only in Greek and French (!). Why?
Krzysztof N — Google review
It's a small museum but an interesting collection very well preserved. Small toys, glass specimens, and local pieces of dish or amphora. The explanations are interesting, well balanced between length and quality.

Great collection of artefacts from prehistoric to late antiquity. Representing the very important place of Salamina island in the history of Greece. The newest artefacts are from the recently discovered Kanaki Mycenaean Acropolis.

Informative museum, a lot to learn about the battle of salamis, a lot of items on display. It's not a large museum but definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of history.
Tomas H — Google review
It's just to rooms not much to see but it's cheap just 3 euros per person

Sadly i was late and only had like 30 minutes before closingtime when i was there, but the lady following me around in the background said that i could take my time and not worry about the clock.. wichi appreciated but made sure not to stretch out... exibitions is relatively small but interesting and is followed by explanations in both Greek and English. Will be back to spend some more time on the exibitions.. admitioncost at the time of my visit where 3 euro...
Johnny P — Google review
Very small place with low number of exhibits. No air-condition just air-fans all over. Credit card machine were not working... The most important exhibit found in Salamis island is nototnhe original one, is a copy. The original is in Peiraeus Museum.
Daniel K — Google review
It is actually really good!! Only thing was that it is quite small. After all, the battle of Salamina was very important and I would like to see something relevant to that.

Dragonera Beach

Mentioned on
17 lists
Beach
Outdoor Activities
Dragonera Beach is a stunning rocky beach that faces west, making it the perfect spot for afternoon swims and breathtaking sunset views. The clear waters make it one of the best sea spots on the island. While there are limited umbrellas and sunbeds, a small snack bar offers great service and refreshments. Accessible by bus from Skala and Megalochori, visitors should be prepared for potential overcrowding on the bus.
We visited Dragonera Beach in Agistri in the first days of May and absolutely loved it. Our experience was incredibly peaceful — there were maybe around 20 people on the entire beach, so it felt calm, quiet, and relaxing. If you’re looking for a spot to unwind away from the crowds, this is definitely a place to check out. The water was beautiful and refreshing. Just a small heads-up: getting in and out of the sea can be a little tricky at first, as there are quite a few rocks at the shoreline and on the sea bottom. You just need to watch your step, but once you’re in, it’s really nice and worth it. Access to the beach is very easy. If you’re coming by scooter or car, you can park almost right in front of the beach. If you arrive by bus, it’s just a short, easy walk downhill — nothing too long or difficult. We got around the island by scooter, which made it easy to visit different beaches, but even without one, Dragonera is absolutely worth the trip. When we went, the beach rental (for sunbeds and such) wasn’t open yet, so we just laid our towels down in the shade and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. We noticed they were getting the food truck ready to open soon. I can’t speak for how it is in July or August — it’s likely busier in high season — but in May, it was simply fantastic. The natural surroundings are stunning and really add to the experience. Overall, Dragonera Beach is a beautiful, peaceful spot with easy access, and it’s well worth a visit if you’re in Agistri.
Francesco C — Google review
The water Is Amazing. The view too. But 20€ for a set of 2 beds and umbrella, on a beach that doesn't offer neither a toilet is really too much for Greece. Come here, take pictures, take a swim and just move to another beach. Or just take a bed for 5 euros and lay under the trees.
Stellina2990 — Google review
Wow wow wow! Amazing beach! Clear water, amazing view, not crowded at all and also offers beverages in good price! The best beach in Agisteri island! This place is a must see. You should rent a scooter and arrive to this beach. Really recommend it - feels like Thailand.
Alon E — Google review
Beautiful beach with amazing waters and nice places under pine trees to put your towels and lie down. You can get there with electric bikes or cars motorcycles but I suggest not get normal bikes due to hills.
M4rios91 — Google review
Dragonera Bay in Agistri is absolutely stunning! We spent the night at anchor — if there’s no wind, it’s simply perfect. In the morning, we hiked trail A4 through the forest, which leads to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the other side of the island. A magical and highly recommended spot!
Yafit K — Google review
Really beautiful clean beach with clear water to swim or snorkel. I walked there and it was a pleasant enough walk but many hire bikes
Emma S — Google review
Very nice lesser known beach, much less crowded than Aponissos and less touristy. Set of cushion sunbeds + umbrella for 20€, nice view and nice waters. The beach is cobbly, so it might be better to have water shoes. The beach bar has few food options and no toilet, so be prepared for that. It’s overall more of a gem for locals and people with cars, but it’s really beautiful, especially at sunset.
Anita S — Google review
Great pebble beach with lots of natural shade provided by trees. Unfortunately the bar is obnoxious and around 5PM they start playing loud music (they play music throughout the day but not so loud). No showers. Parking is easily available.

Paralia Aponisos

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Paralia Aponisos is a picturesque pebble beach located in a small cove, offering sheltered swimming and the option to rent loungers. It is part of an exciting day trip itinerary that includes stops at three stunning locations in the Saronic Gulf. Visitors can explore Agistri Island's charming alleyways, relax on its pristine beaches, and immerse themselves in its natural beauty.
Very nice Beach! 6Euro for entrance, but you get a sunbead and a shade with it. Public clean toilet and a Beach bar with snac, with a reasonable prices, sandwiches, fries, burger, Pizza, etc With pressing a button you can also ask for service to your bed. Water is crystal clean and spectacular View surround the island. Scooter or e-bike recomended from Scala.
Péter K — Google review
Paralia Aponisos is a beautiful and peaceful spot on Agistri Island, offering crystal-clear waters and stunning natural scenery. Unlike the adjacent private islet of Aponisos, which charges an entrance fee (€6) for access to sunbeds, umbrellas, and food facilities, this beach area is completely free. Getting There: Paralia Aponisos is about a 15–20 minute drive from Skala, the island’s main port town. The route follows Agistri’s main road — it’s narrow but in good condition and very easy to navigate. Once you arrive, you can park conveniently right near the beach. The Experience: The beach itself is small, but the surrounding rocks offer plenty of spots to lay down a towel and relax, even though you’ll be lying on rocks rather than sand. The water is incredibly clear, with the feeling of a natural pool — really something out of a movie. The seabed is rocky for the first 20–30 meters, then turns into soft sand with beautifully transparent water, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. When we visited in early May, it was very peaceful and uncrowded, with only a handful of people around. Just be aware that during peak summer months (July and August), it likely gets much busier. Facilities and Surroundings: Behind the beach there’s a small port area and a food establishment (a bar/café), so you have options for refreshments nearby. To the side, you’ll see the private islet of Aponisos, which you can reach via a concrete platform. On the islet, for a fee, you’ll find organized facilities like sunbeds, umbrellas. Just a heads-up: directly behind the small sandy part of the beach, there’s a small port area, along with the road and a parking area for scooters and cars. This does take a little away from the feeling of untouched nature, since you’re not completely secluded. Still, the beach itself is so beautiful and the water so clear that you’ll probably enjoy it there anyway — once you’re swimming or relaxing by the sea, it’s easy to forget about what’s behind you. Final Thoughts: Paralia Aponisos offers a stunning, clear-water swimming spot with easy access and a laid-back vibe. Whether you want to snorkel, swim, or just relax on the rocks, it’s a fantastic place to spend a few hours. Just keep in mind that it’s not a sandy beach, and it may be much busier in the high season. We really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend visiting if you’re in Agistri.
Francesco C — Google review
Best beach of the island in terms of views and facilities. Entry with umbrella and regular sunbed is 6€ per person, and they have plenty (I’d say at least 100). If you want a set with cushion sunbeds (more comfy) it’s 5€ more (2,5€ per person). Considering the beach and the views, it’s excellent value for money. Very important: if you want, you can contact them to reserve sunbeds without additional fees, to make sure they are available when you arrive. This might be very useful especially during the weekends, where there are many more people and it might be hard to find available sunbeds. There is a beach bar with some food and drink options, and you can order directly from your sunbed through a button which calls a server without additional charge, very nice. The water is fantastic, there is both a shallow and a deep area, and you can also rent a kayak to explore the bay. Overall, I highly recommend, one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to, particularly nice after 5pm when most people have gone away and it’s quieter. Side note about the bus: as per July 2025, there are 2 (occasionally 3) buses that go from Skala to Aponissos, stopping by Megalochori, Dragoneira and Limenaria. The timetables are displayed on site, but it’s usually once an hour. While during the week you can manage to catch the bus in the morning (either the tourist bus for 5€ or the regular bus for 2€), during the weekend it’s almost impossible to catch one before 13:00, and there are very few taxis on the island, so I recommend be prepared for that maybe by reserving in advance or by renting a scooter. Conversely, catching the bus to go back in the afternoon, especially after 18, is much easier.
Anita S — Google review
- It’s a private beach with 6Euro entrance fee. The fee includes sunbed with shade (no mattress- with mattress you pay 5Euro/2 person more and if with bed and cover- 10Euro). - However the access to the water is free as it can be access before the entrance. Out of that area there are 2 restaurants and many shade below trees. - Good service and perfect organization. Stay and press the button, they will come to get your order. Price is reasonable. - They also provide some stuff on the water for you to have fun. - The beach is sandy (still rocks here and there but still). About 6km from Skala.
Nhan N — Google review
It is a very beautiful place with lovely surroundings. The water is clear and great for swimming. However, admission to the sun loungers costs €6 per person, and a sun lounger costs an additional €10 per person. The front sun loungers in the first row are even more expensive. .
Elijah O — Google review
Heaven on earth. The water, the view, the excellent services of the well trained staff.
Cristina C — Google review
A very pretty beach with crystal clear water. There is a private beach side, cost of entry is 5€ which includes a sunbed. The customer service is very friendly and quick with reasonable prices. There is also a free area where you can lay down towels and rest under tree shades.

Paralia Marathona is a picturesque beach with clear blue waters and views of distant islands. It offers a serene and comfortable environment, making it perfect for families. The shallow and relatively warm water makes it ideal for spending an afternoon swimming or relaxing on the sand. The beach is known for its cleanliness and the abundance of seashells. Visitors can enjoy the convenience of nearby cafes, restaurants, sunbeds, and beach bars while taking in the beautiful turquoise waters.
A nice, moderately large beach south of Aegina town with a beautiful view of the sea and Moni Island. It is located next to the road, so you can park there or take the island bus, which drops you off within a few minutes' walk. It can get crowded quickly if you arrive late, so be sure to get there early. The first few meters are rocky, but the rest is sandy, and stone slabs are placed for easy access. Would definitely recommend!

Holy Church of Saint Nectarios of Aegina

Greek Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
The monastery is a true haven for the Orthodox faithful that go to venerate the relics of Saint Nectarios. A few tips: Dress code: given this is a holy place, shorts are not allowed in the church. But they have a lot of cloth wraps available at the entrance for people to borrow. So no need to worry. Relics: there are three places where they can be found: 1) in the main church to the right of the iconostasis in a little chapel that’s connected to the church. 2) walk up to the top level of the property through the winding ramp. There you’ll find the tomb of Saint Nectarios to the right. In from of which there is a holy water fountain which is free to take for everyone. Bring water bottles! Also, you can visit the saint’s rooms where he lived. Those are located behind the chapel with his tomb. 3) And there is also a tiny church further up from the tomb where there is also the Saint’s hat. Transportation: There’s lots of free parking on the church property past the gate to the left or you can take the local bus. It’s €2. The covered bus station right in from of the church goes to Aegina Port/Town and across the street (there’s no sign but it’s right in from of the restaurant) will take you to Agia Marina. Souvenir shop: found on the top level of the property past the tomb. Lots of little things to buy including empty water bottles in case you forgot to bring your own for the holy water.

The Church of Saint Nectarios in Aegina is a truly miraculous place, filled with grace and peace. You feel close to the divine here – a wonderful spot for those seeking spiritual quiet and heartfelt prayer. It is said that prayers are truly heard in this sacred place. Practical note: the religious shop only accepts cash, not credit cards. The church is easy to reach by bus from Aegina port, and nearby you’ll find plenty of restaurants serving delicious traditional Greek food

I didn’t know what to expect for this monastery but it is a really good photo stop. It also got me curious about Saint Nectarios, who I learnt is venerated for many healings, especially of cancer, both during his life and after his death
Clifton P — Google review
Huge church. Amazing interior and obviously a place of pilgrimage for many. The reason being in the name St Nektarios. He is buried here and is known for many healing miracles. There is also the monastery and further relics. Appropriate dress is required. Long trousers for men and shirts. Women long skirts, not shorts, and tops should cover shoulders. No entrance fee but donations welcome, I'm sure.

Whole place is wonderful! The setting is beautiful, the staff are friendly, and the ambiance is calming. Strongly recommend visiting for a peaceful and uplifting experience.
Fil3mon — Google review
This is an awe inspiring church. The floors are designed with tiny tiny ceramic tiles and around the amazing alter are mosaics of sea creatures. Above is the Monastery, with a small church, the actual rooms where Agios Nektarios lived and worked (St. Nektarios) and a guide to fill you in on all the details of his objects, writings and life. In addition there is a small room with the Saint’s tomb where many people feel/receive special closeness to God and even whispers when they put their ear up to the tomb. Skirts and cover update provided as dress code requires respect.
Butterfly G — Google review
A beautiful and breathtaking holy place, the Church and Monastery of Saint Nektarios of Aegina is dedicated to one of the most renowned Greek saints, venerated in both the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Eastern Catholic Churches. This is a must-visit site when in Aegina, accessible by local bus, taxi, or rented scooter/car, with ample parking available nearby. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Be respectful of this active sacred site, as it is frequented by many Greeks seeking the favor of the saint. Up the hill, you can also visit the monastery. Men and women must dress modestly in accordance with the rules. When we visited, the interior was being renovated but remained open for visitors to explore.

Lake Marathon

Reservoir
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
Tranquil man-made reservoir created in 1929 with a beach, footpaths, benches & birdlife to watch.
Beautiful place, very big and clean lake, beautiful nature, rocks and trees, some churches on rocks...
Svata B — Google review
I had wished to visit this place for many years and, finally, I did. We are all familiar with the Marathon contests all around the world, but, this is the The Place, the origin, from where the Greek soldier Pheidippides, ran to Athens to report victory in the Battle of Marathon; he died of exhaustion after delivering the good news. Today's runners, fortunately, survive, although any Marathon race is extremely demanding. Visit the place with me, you are in no danger, enjoy good food and coffee at the shore of the Marathon Lake (it's an artificial one), wander the picturesque landscape, watch birds and just relax. Have a nice trip!

Went there to run the great Authentic Greek Classic Marathon. Great views, great scenery and above all, the feelings, running a route over 2 000 year old!
Haris A — Google review
Do NOT use this route. This map leads u to middle of nowhere, on dirt road, you will see valleys with trees burnt, and then dirt road track ended, field of wild flowers and grass filled the area, we had to make a u-turn to get out. DO NOT use this route if you want to visit Lake Marathon. Instead, if you must visit, pick the Lake Marathon panoramic view on Google map. It’s over-rated.

from a tourist perspective, there is nothing here... walking routes from the dam are blocked off and the one restaurant that used to be here is abandoned.

Museums
The National Archaeological Museum in Athens is a neoclassical treasure trove of ancient Greek art and artifacts, showcasing sculptures, metalwork, vases, and jewelry that span thousands of years. It offers a comprehensive journey through Greece's rich cultural heritage with exhibits appealing to history buffs, art enthusiasts, families, and curious travelers. Visitors can take advantage of guided tours and audio guides for a deeper insight into the significance of the artifacts.
Acropolis Museum – The Perfect Partner to the Acropolis We visited the Acropolis Museum as a group of four: two adults and two kids (17 and 11). A nice surprise — kids under 18 get in for free! Adults pay about €12 each, so our total was just €24 — very reasonable for what you get. 🏛️ The museum itself: It’s huge, beautifully designed, and you could easily spend a whole day here. The exhibits cover Greek culture, history, and art, with incredible detail. Most of the statues and artifacts that were originally part of the Acropolis (or removed for preservation) are displayed here, so you’re seeing the real treasures up close. ✨ What makes it special: • A chance to see pieces from the Acropolis that you won’t find on the hill itself. • Exhibits that connect Greek history with the Roman era. • A modern, spacious museum that makes exploring easy and enjoyable. Final thought: If you’re visiting Greece, the Acropolis is a must — but the Acropolis Museum is just as important. It brings the history to life in ways the ruins alone can’t. Strongly recommend making time for both.
Theavy — Google review
Where else but Athens could you expect to find one of the finest collections of ancient artifacts on the planet? The National Archaeological Museum delivers exactly that — an extraordinary assembly of Greek antiquity, laid out with clarity and care. The building itself is a neoclassical jewel, dignified without being pompous, and far more organized than its Roman counterparts, which often collapse into chaos carnivals of statues and signage. No, it’s not a shiny new complex like the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, but that’s part of its charm: history housed in history. The galleries flow logically, the curation is thoughtful, and the sheer range of objects makes it a place you could return to several times and still find something new. And then there’s the courtyard café — a delightful surprise. Where else can you sip a proper coffee or frappé surrounded not only by plants and trees, but also by archaeological fragments keeping you company like silent, well-aged friends? It’s an oasis, half café, half time machine, and one of the most civilised spots in the city. It has, in fact, a similar charm to the National Archaeological Museum of Malta in Valletta — only here, of course, everything is on a grander scale. Just as Greece is larger than Malta, so too is its national museum: equally enchanting, but magnified. In short: a museum that does what a museum should do — celebrate history without suffocating you in it. A must-see in Athens, not just for the artifacts, but for the sense of order, beauty, and calm it offers in the middle of the city.
Arik — Google review
We went on the first Saturday of the month, so it was free. There are many many treasure in the Museum. I have never seen such a glass display case in any museum, it's as if there is no glass wall there. It's an amazing collection, anyone who is even slightly interested in history or art will spend a lot of time here. I loved every minute of it. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
Károly K — Google review
For history lovers, this is a great collection of archaeological artifacts from different periods of Greek history. Make sure you book your tickets online; otherwise, you’ll be standing in a long line to get in. The museum has multiple levels, and it will take you about 2–3 hours to visit everything. You can take a break on the lower level, where there’s a wonderful cafeteria next to a beautiful terrace.

Here you can see some of the most incredible and important archeological finds in all history. As you walk in your greeted with the death mask of Agamemnon!! The Antikytheran Mechanism is here!! Frescoes from Akritiri!! Do I need to say more?!? This is a once in a lifetime experience.
Phil W — Google review
Being an Arts major, so many things came to life for me in this building. Being able to see the fertility gods up close and seeing the different sizes was impressive. The wall frescos were mesmerizing. The amount of detail on the pots and drying pans.. incredible. The story telling in each piece is so unique and fascinating. Seeing the beautiful statues and being able to stand right next to the ionic columns… phenomenal. We love history and being here was the perfect fitting after having spent the day before at the Acropolis.
Jason V — Google review
A must see when in Athens. One of the most important museums capturing early Western civilization. I do not think it is an accident that the Mycenaean gallery is the first one you see. It is my personal favorite. We should thank Heinrich Schliemann for his foresight and boldness in digging at Mycenae. Of course, you should see the classical Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman exhibits. One caveat: The museum is undergoing a large expansion, and galleries will be closed for construction. However, do not let this be a deterrent to visiting.
Forrest T — Google review
I recommend visiting as early as possible to beat the line ups and crowds. This museum is massive and the overcrowding becomes overwhelming and affects the experience within the museum. It is worth visiting if you are interested in Greek history. Be prepared to stand for 4-5 hours plus to visit and listen to the description for the pieces on display. There is air conditioning but it cannot keep up with the massive space. You need to wait in line to purchase tickets, then to check out devices to listen to the audio files. You also have to wait in line to return them. This part is very disorganized. The museum seemed understaffed. Hold tight to your purse, and do not bring any valuables with you. You must check any backpacks on arrival. There is a cafe in the lower level, prices are inflated. I would recommend eating before your visit.

The Acropolis of Athens is an iconic 5th-century B.C. temple complex located on a rocky hilltop in Athens, currently undergoing restoration. Visitors can explore this historic site by purchasing a Special Ticket Package that includes access to other nearby attractions like the Ancient Agora, Temple of Hephaestus, and Hadrian's Library. Additionally, tourists can enjoy stunning views of the Acropolis from retro-chic design hotels situated near the Parthenon's east gate and the Acropolis Museum.
A couple of things to know before you go: 1. A long walk to the top but not as bad as expected. A considerable amount of stairs, but enjoyable. The granite at the top is very slippery—watch out. 2. Very limited bathrooms. There are no restrooms at the top. The ones at the bottom are insufficient for the amount of people. 3. We went at 5 PM to avoid the heat. It was pleasant at the top with a good breeze. I’d recommend the later time slots as the low sun makes for better pictures. 4. I bought my tickets the day before. The earlier time slots were sold out. It seemed that people were buying tickets onsite, so you don’t necessarily need a reservation. A must-go while in Athens. Better than expected.

Visiting the Acropolis was honestly one of the highlights of my trip to Athens. No matter how many pictures you’ve seen, nothing really prepares you for standing up there in person. The view over the city is incredible — you can see the whole of Athens stretching out below, with the sea glimmering in the distance. I went early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds, and that was definitely the right move. Climbing up is not too hard, but wear comfy shoes and bring water — the stones can be slippery. Once you reach the top, the Parthenon and the other ancient temples feel almost unreal. You can actually feel the history around you, it’s crazy to think how long these structures have been standing. The atmosphere is peaceful, especially if you take a moment to just sit and look around. The Acropolis Museum nearby is also worth a visit — it’s modern, cool, and helps you understand what you’re seeing up there. Overall, it’s an absolute must-see in Athens. Go early, take your time, and enjoy the view — it’s one of those experiences that truly stays with you. 🇬🇷✨

What can I say? One of the most iconic archaeological sites in the entire world. An absolute must visit, come early at 8am either with a guided tour or with pre book tickets because it gets very busy as you'd expect. We visited in late October,it was 24c which was perfect weather. Our visit was with a guide from Viator. I will visit again just so I can explore the slopes which we didn't have the chance too.

You know the feeling when you feel that you are in a special place, where something important for the human race happened there, that's the feeling here! A place that I saw so many times in the books, finally in front of me. Different kind of emotion, amazed by what people could build with such different instruments from the one we have now with the progress of the technology.
Ossama — Google review
The entrance fee is €30, and you can buy tickets online (highly recommended to avoid queues). It’s best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds. I bought my ticket for 11 a.m. because earlier slots were sold out, and walking around while constantly dodging people wasn’t the best experience. Still, the place is absolutely incredible — no matter how many photos you’ve seen before, it never stops amazing you. Definitely worth the visit.
Eva P — Google review
A phenomenal experience that you simply have to live through. We had tickets in advance online, and at the entrance we waited about 5 minutes. There was a crowd, but it was still pleasant. Bring water—the walk is naturally tiring and steep, and at the top the sun really beats. Enjoy the view of the vast city of Athens from above, as well as the history and the remains that are indescribable to see, knowing that someone lived there so long ago, and just like this. Fascinating! Remains from the earliest settlements, as well as from the later sanctuary, offer countless things to see and enjoy.

How do you rate this any less than five stars? So much history and beauty in one place. I have mobility issues and thank goodness the elevator was working!! Scary ride up, but so worth it!! The entire time we were there, we felt speechless! Absolutely awe inspiring!!

I couldn't believe it but this place is over 2500 years old and it's still standing. The idea that it was built on this tall hill made it even more awesome. The history was interesting too. I learned the Athenians were welcomed inside whenever enemies were approaching. We had an excellent tour leader, too.

In addition to historical sites, Athens offers vibrant neighborhoods and pedestrian streets for visitors to explore.
I came on a weekday, but it was still crowded because it was the end of the travel season,The view overlooking the city of Athens, a magnificent structure, was magical. Although there was nothing exciting, I was glad to have seen it with my own eyes. The birthplace of civilization, the oldest city, the once prosperous and powerful city in the world.

A must see if visiting Athens. Its uneven surfaces for parts of it so walking boots are recommended. The Parthenon is very impressive and the View of Athens from the tip shows how big Athens is. Worth getting a guided tour to learn the history of the site.

We've been there at the end of October, which is is probably the best time of the year. Weather is usually still sunny, while at the same time its not too hot. And the Acropolis is not overcrowded even tho you will meet lots of ppl. Keep in mind this is one of the worlds most visited must-see hotspots. You have to book a time slot in advance when you buy the tickets. If your kids are EU citizens and under 18y old, they do not have to pay the current 30 EUR entrance fee! They get free entrance, but passports/IDs are required to proof your citizenship. You can not book these free kids tickets in advance online. So you will have to line up at the two ticket offices. Once at the office you usually wont get instant access. So plan for another 2-3 hours waiting time ahead. We went to the acropolis museum (extra 20 € pp, kids free). Try to visit the museum before you actually visit the Acropolis as you will learn a lot. Once you are on the top you will understand why this place is so special. View is spectecular and you will notice how massive the buildings must have been. Enjoy!

The Parthenon at the Acropolis completed our Athens trip!!! Amazingly beautiful with breathtaking views of the city. The walk up to the top is a bit tiring but it you have a disability card they will let you use the elevator at the North entrance. It’s worth the visit!

The Acropolis/Parthenon experience was nice. The climb up wasn’t so bad (just kind slippery floors and wear shoes with good grip). We bought tickets a day prior for the 6pm slot and were allowed in at 5.45pm. The good: Overall a pretty place. As a history buff, it was a special experience to be standing at a place where so much history was made. Got some nice photos of the structures against the evening sun. There were shaded spots here and there for some respite from the sun. The bad: The €30 ticket price. It isn’t justified given that there are a lot of works actively being done inside. There were a lot of scaffolding and machinery around. The structures were also cordoned off. You just feel like a visitor going through the area and snapping pictures instead of feeling like you’re really experiencing what it must have been like to be up at the Acropolis back then. Some may be okay with this, but I just feel a €20 ticket would make more sense.
Salman S — Google review
Magnificent Greek architecture! The uphill walk with marble stairs was worth it. It’s best to arrive before opening time to avoid the crowds. We were in awe of the ruins, and the view of Athens was incredible.
Kim K — Google review
Simply amazing! As impressive as a wonder of the world. Climbing those marble stairs really makes you understand the grandiosity of this civilization. To add the cherry on top, finally there are no scaffoldings. I would recommend going at the last entry time for the golden hour experience. I also recommend climbing any of the neighboring hills to see the Acropolis from an incredible perspective.

The Acropolis Museum, a modern glass and steel structure, has been open to the public since 2009. Its design allows for stunning views of the Parthenon from almost every corner. The museum showcases artifacts unearthed around the citadel, offering insight into the culture and daily life of ancient Greek civilizations. While there is debate about whether certain exhibits should be returned to Greece, visitors can appreciate beautifully crafted copies in place of the originals.
A truly spectacular museum that is packed full of highly beautiful and interesting artefacts. It was informative, spacious and well-thought out. You can easily spend a few hours exploring. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Athens, and I would highly recommend a visit. Pre booking your tickets online means you can head straight to the turnstiles at your allocated time - which is well worth doing.

A great stop if you are exploring Athens. The building is modern with huge windows and a clear view of the Acropolis itself. Inside, you will find ancient sculptures, pottery, and a cool glass floor that shows ruins underneath. The top floor has the Parthenon pieces laid out like they were originally placed at scale, and the cafe has a solid view. Easy to enjoy even if you are not a history buff.

We were initially unsure whether to visit the Acropolis Museum, as some reviews claimed it wasn’t worth it. However, we decided to go anyway — and we’re really glad we did. The entrance fee was €20 (current price as of autumn 2025). We went around 6 PM and it was almost empty, with no lines at all. The museum was open until 8 PM, so we had plenty of time to walk around and explore. The museum itself is beautiful. It features an impressive collection of artifacts found on the slopes of the Acropolis, as well as everyday objects from different periods of Athenian history. There are also many statues, architectural fragments from temples, and other fascinating pieces. On top of that, the museum offers lovely views of the Acropolis and the surrounding area. We later found out that there is an audio guide available — just look for the QR code inside the museum. We wish we had noticed it earlier! Overall, it’s definitely worth a visit. We had a great experience.

One of my favorite museum experiences worldwide! Bernard Tschumi’s masterpiece covers Athens historical layers by physically reconstructing them through five different levels. The context and the place in the city are omnipresent and shine through the building. The museum is generously laid out and there’s hardly any waiting times. The flows through the exhibits work smoothly and although there are huge numbers of visitors there is never any feeling of crowding. Full points for this jewel!

Be prepared to be amazed by history where myth and reality are hard to distinguish. Modern, spacious, with a lot of light, this is a big museum, be prepared to spend ~4h if you wanna see everything. I advise people to bring headphones to listen to the audio they offer. Be careful, any backpacks have to be stored in a locker room. And check their cafe, it has a wonderful view! Their shop has a variety of books in several languages.

A very well-thought-out and well-organized museum with beautiful unique exhibits. It uses modern technology in a great way to bring the glory and power of ancient Greece to life. The museum also has a nice café with good service and a view of the Acropolis — not the very best view, as you can see from the photos, but still lovely. Definitely worth a visit!

It's incredible to visually learn about the history of the place and the people - the ART!!! The iconic Chapel of St. George awaits at the top, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and photography enthusiasts.
What a view from here just stunning. Well worth the walk up. There a lovely bar about 2/3 of the way up. Ice cold drinks and do good, amazing view of the Acropolis from the bar as well.

There are two trails. Looking from Acropolis the left one is way easier. It goes through the forest. The right one is paved, but seems longer and is steaper. The view is great, though for the view of Acropolis I would suggest Hill of the Muses, where the Socrates prison is. Less people, closer to the Parthenon.

A magic hill with a perfect view of all Athens and Piraeus, the sea and the sky meeting together and the horizon melted between! From the top of Lycabettus you can enjoy the beautiful sunset emerging in the sea and something special is that you enjoy the Acropolis from above instead of from below as you usually see it in Athens..

It’s a little bit of a trek to get up to the top but once you do the views are priceless. The hike from the bottom was about 45 minutes with a few short breaks. It’s definitely doable but be sure to bring some water along if it’s a hot day to stay hydrated. There is a little cafe at the top to grab some drinks and snacks once you get there to refuel for the way down. It was a bit of a mission but was quite an experience to say the least.

Waste of money. Embarrassingly poor quality of experience for either the tourist that wants to try to understand the history, or the more experienced historian. Zeus, the father of Athena, and therefore Athens, deserves so much more reverence, explanations, context, basic efforts to help visitors. The information when you do get any is really scant, and doesn't help you understand the current philosophy for preserving and restoring the site. You might as well stand at Hadrian's gate, take a few photos and save the 20 euros for the entry - you are really only missing out on section after section of roped off stones. Yes, there is a free information QR code, it's so bad. Yes, there are QR codes next to stones, didn't work, and that's assuming your camera can read them - some are very distant behind barriers. There are buildings, one with a frieze and sign saying 'place of relief' - is that a joke? What is it? There are buildings, even tell of a mosaic, who knows, there was a black and white drawing. I could go on. This is an approach to displaying antiquity that is in itself ancient, lazy and half arsed. Take the free photo opp and move on, go up the road to the Panathenaeic site, now that is brilliant.
Jaime T — Google review
We really liked seeing this ancient structure from outside the gates, didn't pay to get in. You can see everything from outside the gates, that you would pay to see up close. Either way a very beautiful site, a must see if first time in Athens.
Sami S — Google review
If you can visit this site during “free” days - do it, otherwise take a free picture near the Hadrians gate, it is not with to pay 20 EUR per visit. Just few columns, nothing much to see.
Svetlana F — Google review
Very cool place to visit. Not nearly as crowded as the Acropolis, but there is a lot less to see. We did have trouble accessing the QR codes that were being used for the self-guided tour however, but they did have some very informative signs that we could use as well.
David V — Google review
If mythology/history has a lot meaning and you are mostly there to know about history of these rocks and ruins you should go and check the place otherwise I wouldn't recommend going, for me it's ruins where u can not explore anything because it is prohibited to go near everything. Waste of time and money, but if u have good camera you can take nice shots with pillars and acropolis together. p.s official website says different price for tickets and if u buy ticket at that place it costs different price, also opening hours are different on website and irl.
Christina — Google review
Honestly I dont see why anyone would pay to see something you can see pretty well from the gate. Its in scaffolding which kind of takes away from everything but its understandable why they have done it. Personally Im very glad I didnt pay or keep it on our itinerary and instead just walked by.
Carissa-Rae F — Google review
The oldest history ever. It's so amazing to think this area is over 2500 years old and much is still standing. The way it was built is beyond imagination but it's there. The climb to see it was fairly tough but everyone in our group did fine and 2 people had just had knee surgery too. If you're in Greece you MUST see it.

The Temple of Aphaia is a significant archaeological site located on the island of Aegina. Built in the 5th century BC, this Doric temple was dedicated to the ancient goddess Aphaia. Positioned on top of a hill, it offers a spectacular view of the surrounding area and is considered one of the most important structures in the Sanctuary of Aphaia.
Beautifully preserved temple in a spectacular setting! It was not crowded at all and we highly recommend visiting. We took the local bus at 2 euro each.
Nikki T — Google review
It's a beautiful temple, which I highly recommend visiting to learn about its historical significance. It's one of the three temples in the "Sacred Triangle." Admission is 10 euros and also gives you access to the museum.
Carito A — Google review
Beautifully maintained Temple of the Goddess Aphaia, a mysterious figure local to Aegina and sometimes Crete. Pausanias (2nd c. CE) records that the Aeginetans called Britomartis “Aphaia. The Temple is really well-preserved and maintained. Admission is 10 Euro. Go early in the morning to avoid the buses and crowds. Taxis do go up here.

I like to call this island pistachio island. Everywhere you go including the beautiful temple of Aphaia are pistachios. Beautiful views and I would love to go here in the evening to take in the view of Athens. Amazing views.
Sam I — Google review
A must-see if you’re visiting Aegina! The Temple of Aphaia is beautifully preserved and stands on a hill with an absolutely stunning view over the sea and even the mainland on a clear day. It’s quiet, peaceful, and feels very authentic compared to the crowded sites in Athens. Totally worth the 20-minute ride from the main port — it gives a real sense of ancient Greece. And after your visit, don’t miss grabbing a pistachio ice cream from the little shop right next to the site — Aegina’s specialty and the perfect way to end the visit!

It was okay. Maybe a lot better if we didn't walk a mile straight up to get there. Ruins with a small tourist store. Interesting information tables throughout. Lots of cats roaming around begging for food. Cost $10 euros to explore site. Very nice view from the top. Several tour busses were visiting at the same time as we were there.

It is a beautiful ancient temple well preserved. I don't know about the entrance cost because EU citizens under 25 have free entrance upon showing their ID. Highly recommend

The Panathenaic Stadium, a historic gem nestled in Athens, is renowned as the site of the inaugural modern Olympic Games held in 1896. This magnificent structure, crafted from white Pentelic marble and set against the backdrop of Ardettos Hill, offers visitors a glimpse into both ancient and contemporary athletic history. As you explore this iconic venue, you'll be captivated by its impressive architecture and the echoes of cheering crowds from centuries past.
We passed by this original Olympic stadium in the evening and did a proper visit a few days later. Did some poses on the mock up podium, did some races (have bragging rights that we ran in the Olympic stadium!) and also popped by the small museum with the Olympic posters and torches. It’s worth a visit
Clifton P — Google review
I visited the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens during the summer. Being there feels like stepping back in time. The entire stadium is constructed from marble and faithfully follows the design of the original structure built thousands of years ago. It hosted the first modern Olympic Games and stands as a powerful symbol of Greek heritage and athletic spirit. I highly recommend visiting this historic site.
Murillo P — Google review
Amazing structure and a neat place to visit! If you are athletic, you might as well take a run around the Olympic stadium and feel like an Olympian Athlete! We ventured up the stadium and sat like a spectator and watched other visitors do the running around for us. Don't forget to stop in the mini museum. It has several of the old Olympic flame torches and photos. This place was packed in its glory days!
Lisa K — Google review
Amazing absolutely stunning. The stadium itself represents history. We went there for the Athens marathon and the place was completely spectacular. The runners turned up all the way from the Marathon and it felt great. Bravo!
Sarah S — Google review
Great historical site. Still relevant to today with the Olympic spirit. Small museum and included in €10 entrance fee is a self guided audio presentation which highlights interesting facts. Easy access with buses. If you visit on a hot day bring sunglasses and a hat. Two kiosks near entrance with drinks and snacks.Definitely highly recommended
Carlos O — Google review
We visited on a Oxi (Ohi) Day, a public holiday. The queue was quite long and since you can’t buy tickets online, you have to stand in the sun. It took us about an hour to get to the head of the queue. Don’t forget to pickup the audio guide that’s included in the ticket price. The museum under the stadium was nice too. It had torches from various olympic years on display.
Gita — Google review
An incredible piece of history — and truly impressive in person! Standing in an all-marble stadium where the first modern Olympics were held is a unique experience. The architecture is grand, and walking around the track or climbing the seats gives you a real sense of the place. Definitely recommended.
Tóth Á — Google review
With just one full day in Athens, visiting the Panathenaic Stadium was at the top of my list -and it did not disappoint. The architecture is breathtaking, built entirely from marble and designed to transport you back to ancient times. Knowing it once held over 80,000 spectators -from everyday citizens to royalty -made standing there even more awe-inspiring. The entrance fee is €10, but with my UK student ID I was able to enter for €5. Inside, the vaulted passage showcases fascinating artifacts from the very first Olympic Games to more recent ones, including medals and torches from across the generations. I even ran a little race on the track (while chasing my hat that kept flying off in the wind!) -a playful and memorable moment that made the visit even more special. Totally recommend adding this stop to your Athens adventure;it’s history, culture, and fun all in one.

Schinias Beach

Schinias Beach is a long stretch of sandy coastline located in the northeast region. The beach is characterized by its unique setting, with a national park and pine trees at one end. It's perfect for leisurely strolls, offering snack bars and areas with sunbeds and umbrellas. Families will appreciate the shallow waters, making it safe for children to enjoy. The beach is set within a pine forest, providing fine sand and calm, warm waters ideal for families.
In my opinion, this is one of the prettiest and cleanest beaches near Athens. Plus, it's free! There's just a short walk from the parking lot to the beach. The people who come here are really nice and chill. You can also sit in the shade under the trees if you want. The swimming is great; you can go pretty far out. Plus, there are a few shy, beautiful cats before you enter the beach. The drive to this beach from Athens is lovely, taking you through Marathon, a cute little town. Unfortunately, there was a forest fire, but it's still very beautiful to drive through the area.
Micky D — Google review
Great place for any adventure , car free , family friendly with crystal clean water , clean entrance and amazing Rafina’s view .
Eugene C — Google review
Mind the parking! The beach is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, but the parking is only legal in the lots in the small town of Skinias. The spot we wanted to stay at was about 30m walk from the tavern. When we left, at about 8 o'clock, 6 police officers were giving out tickets and confiscating license plates. At least 30 cars were missing their plates, so be careful! The fine is at least 80 eur and you get your plates back in 30 days. The beach has golden sand, almost no pebbles, lots of shade from trees and the beach was not crowded at all, on a Saturday. The water is warm, very clear and very calm. A person who is taller than 1.5m can easily go 50m out and still be able to touch the bottom.
Dan-andrei C — Google review
Perfect non serviced, long and wild beach close to Athens. Very shallow and clean water. Plenty of space on the sand or underneath the pine trees and mostly not crowded at all. Parking during summertime can be a little difficult as the old parking spots were closed

Beach was great, our Little Man loved the sand and water was clean. We rented an umbrella and sun-chairs from Γλάρος Ψαρι Ταβερνα. €5 for each of us but you get a small bottle of water and a €5 drink credit, which I found to be a great value. The bar is walk up only but the bartender was very good, fast and nice. Didn't try the food at Γλάρος but we will be going back to try it as they have tables out on the sand and what I saw looked tasty.

Paralia Limanaki tis Agapis, also known as Love Bay, is a charming and intimate beach nestled amidst verdant surroundings. The bay's name originates from the 1950s and reflects its secluded and romantic ambiance. With its clear emerald waters and sandy shores shaded by pine trees, it offers a tranquil retreat for couples and those seeking a peaceful environment. The calm sea makes it ideal for leisurely holidays and romantic getaways.
Best in poros! Very quiet Nice beach bar Clean water!!! We loved so much to be here!

I think this is the best beach in Poros island. Trees provide shade and environment up to where the water starts. It is organised and you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds. Food and drinks are also available with prices the same like elsewhere. If you wish a good spot it is advisable to go as early as 10 o'clock in the morning.
Michael S — Google review
Extremely disappointing experience. The staff was shockingly rude, the worst treatment we've received in 15 years of visiting beaches in Greece. Poor service, zero hospitality. Definitely not the Greek welcome we’re used to. Would not recommend.
Florin R — Google review
The bay is absolutely gorgeous - crazy clear green waters, lots of fish to observe. This is unfortunately shadowed by poor customer service from there staff and over inflated prices for sunbeds. The staff is eager for money that they invoke some non-existing law that they cannot keep your already paid sunbed for more than 30 minutes. The worst customer experience ever in Greece.
Alexandru S — Google review
Nice water, nice beach, but the services leave a lot to be desired. In the pure Greek commercial spirit, you pay 20 euros for a lounger, but if you leave more than 30 minutes because you don't want to eat extra lunch from them, you've lost your seats. And that wouldn't even be the problem, but the fact that this "rule" is not posted anywhere or communicated in advance...just Greece ;)
Catalin D — Google review
It is a petite cute beach that is excellent for quiet relaxing time. The bay is surrounded by deep vegetation which ensured its privacy. That is how the name came. It is very popular with couples or even people who prefers quiet calm environment. The water is sea green, clear. The sand is a little red to brown but sandy. The bay water is also calm enough, making it a perfect place for holidays and romantic outings. A narrow road surrounds the bay, but there is not much traffic in it. The bay has shower and drinking facilities.
Muhammad R — Google review
Nice little beach with catch name. The waters look nice from above, but when you get in, you'll realize they are pretty muddy. OK for 1 time but it wouldn't be my favorite beach. The beach bar offer some sunbeds but at full season it's very very crowded.

It was my long walk on New Year's day, came all the way from the port that's downtown Poros & it was absolutely stunning! Askeli beach, located 2 km north of Poros Port, is a popular and bustling destination. The organized beach offers amenities such as beach bars and plenty of eucalyptus trees for shade. While the beach has small pebbles, the water becomes sandy once you enter it. Visitors can enjoy clear waters and various water sports while also having access to nearby tavernas. Although not overcrowded, some visitors note a lack of amenities like bars and umbrellas.
We visited Askeli Beach in Poros, Greece, and had a great experience. The beach was clean and much less crowded compared to other spots, which made it really relaxing. Perfect place if you’re looking for some peace and clear waters!

Really beautiful beach 😍 the coast is sandy, seawater is clean. This place isn’t crowded ( in the middle of June) I was missing the bar and coffee shop or tavernas therefore only four stars for me…( this place is so far the supermarket and any possible of buying) If you want you can get a sunbed as well.

The beach is really good, in the beginning starting at the golden hotel don't have rocks many rocks and the umbrellas are for free. If you go bit more to the left is where the rocky part starts but if you have watershoes is just fine! Enjoy and have fun !
Larissa V — Google review
Went there on a mid-sunny May afternoon. Definitely not overcrowded (maybe due to the time period) but a very nice and picturesque beach! Sand was clean enough to lay down with your towel and the sea was also very clear and clean! 4 stars just because it lacks of amenities such as bars, umbrellas etc.

Water is abit cold today as is quite windy in September , we got a spot right on the rocky beach , is not sandy so is quite a feet massage to go thru that for a swim. we got our set of lounge seat from the nearby restaurant , Askeli . 12€ a day for the set of two. Price reasonable I reckon , and you can order drinks and snack to be serve. overall the staff are very friendly. Beach is not full at all, so is kind of peaceful and we enjoyed it very much

Very good place to drink a coffee and have a good brunch in Loutsa beach! Ideal for surfers. You can even lent your surfing equipment, enjoy the waves and then a very good brunch or lunch! The chicken club sandwich and the pancakes with strawberries and ice cream were very good!
MARIA A — Google review
Nissakia Surf Club in Artemida used to be one of my favorite spots. I’ve been going since its early days, when it was a small, laid-back place right by the sea. Over the years, it expanded and became a popular destination for windsurfing, food, and sunset views. While the location is still beautiful and nostalgic for me, the overall experience has changed. The quality of service and atmosphere feels like it’s dropped lately, even though the prices have gone up. There are also new policies that don’t quite match the relaxed vibe it used to have, like not being allowed to change tables and the fact that they no longer serve tap water after 8 p.m. and you have to buy bottled water. It’s still a place with potential and history, but it's definitely not what it used to be and its owner should reconsider his practices!
Nikos L — Google review
A great surf spot with good bar food and drinks by the sea. Gets super busy so there are moments where the service is not up to par and it can be hard to get a table. Avoid busy weekends of possible.

Nissakia it's a wonderful place to visit alone or with friends if you want to relax, swim, do some sea sports like surfing, kite surfing ect. The view is magnificent and also the bar there is outside and very close to the sea for everyone to enjoy their time there. Especially the time that we went it was afternoon with the sun going down and the candles lightning the place it was magical. The staff is very helpful and always ready to serve you with a smile. As for the cocktails that we ordered they were all right but I have to mention that the price was a little bit on the high. And also that you're paying for the water there so be careful before you order. Parking was so easy and the whole experience was just amazing so that's why I give it a five-star review. Keep up the good work.

It was great to be able to walk so close and around what was once such a sacred and important site. The adjacent museum is also included in your ticket and the museum had a WC, too. There was a largely flat paved path from the parking lot to reach the temple. We toured the entire site around the temple in 30 minutes.

For history lovers, this is one of the best short trips out of Athens . The temple and grounds are beautifully kept and the small museum shows some interesting artefacts and enables you to understand the history of the site.
Athens L — Google review
We found ourselves in Vravrona - or rather, in its secluded neighborhood hidden among the hills - where, in the 6th century BC, on a site already inhabited in the Neolithic era, a temple was raised and dedicated to Artemis. Time had concealed it so well that Greek archaeologists only brought it back to light in the 1950s. This was once a significant place of worship, connected to the Athenian Acropolis by a sacred road. Once every four years, a grand procession followed this route, ending at a stone bridge of unique construction, standing near the main temple. Today, the air here is filled with silence and calm. A spacious museum houses an extraordinary wealth of ancient fragments, each a whisper from a distant past. It is a place where you can truly feel the breath of millennia upon your face.

Everything about the beginner diving experience was fantastic! The staff was friendly, helpful, and welcoming from the start. Our guide, Stavros, was particularly exceptional. He patiently explained everything we needed to know and made sure we felt comfortable and confident throughout the dive. The high-quality equipment, convenient location, and the beauty of exploring the underwater world all added up to an incredible experience. Other places might have you dive in a pool first, here you benefit from starting in the sea and see underwater life at 4 meters depth. I highly recommend this and can't wait to go back, whether it's for another beginner course or to get certified. (The attached picture is of the tanks where they clean equipment after use).

I had my very first dive with this amazing diving school 🤿 and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! As someone who was quite anxious about diving for the first time, I felt completely at ease thanks to our instructor, Vasilis. He was incredibly professional, calm, and reassuring, making me feel safe and confident right from the beginning 💪. The dive itself was absolutely beautiful 🌊; we had a lovely time exploring the treasures of the sea 🐠🪸, and it was truly unforgettable. George was also fantastic, his focus on safety and genuine care really stood out. You can tell both instructors are passionate about what they do and prioritize a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone 💙. I was so impressed that I’ve decided to continue and get my diving certification with them 🎓🤿, they really are amazing. I highly recommend this school to anyone, whether you're diving for the first time or looking to continue your diving journey. You’ll be in great hands! 👌

Very welcoming and professional team. Everything was under control at all times, yet the mood was very relaxed and friendly. We had a great time and learned a lot. Absolutely recommend. Many thanks to George and the divers that helped along: Nikos, Dimitris, and Eli.

Overall, one of the best dives I've ever been on! There were a bunch of contributing factors: 1. From start to finish, this was the most professional shop I've ever dived with, across three continents. From communication to gear picking to the dive itself, they were on top of everything and taking care of us. I wish more shops ran like this. 2. The owner was very flexible with our date and party size changes, was incredibly friendly, and even gave us a little tour of the shop when we arrived. 3. The guide and dive master/captain were very friendly, double checked everything, and did all the heavy lifting (literally!) 4. The dive sites themselves were really cool with both unique geography (diving in a crevasse that opened up into a larger underwater cavern, filled with nudibranchs and a metal looking starfish) and sea life (including a massive 1.5ft long sea snail called a Triton's trumpet). I wish I could have done more than two dives with them!

Staff and Captain were amazingly gracious, professional and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our wreck dive. The ride on the boat is just fun. We will be back.

If I could put 6 stars I would!! A wonderful experience worth to experience at least once in your life! We only went a single time but almost directly (after a short theory lesson) went into the clean waters! The instructor was amazing. Not only was he friendly and very welcoming but very professional and clearly knew what he was doing from start to finish. He made sure everything went smoothly and always made sure to check in every few seconds! He even held my hand in the first few meters swimming until I found my balance swimming with the tank. The highlight of the experience were the pictures. We were worried we would not have pictures as we did not have waterproof equipment, but the instructor carried his own GoPro and provided us with more than a dozen afterwards (without extra charge!!) For the very low price of this magnificent experience, the center certainly deserves more than five stars!

Such a great experience!😍 Instructors Stefanos and Kosras did their best for my education and training so I could feel myself comfortable under the water...right after the first lesson I became a confident diver and without any fear dived with others. Strongly recommend this school for everyone who always wanted to start but had some doubts - here you'll be in reliable and professional hans. The world of diving really worth it!!!😉👍

I found this dive center purely by chance while looking for safety equipment to have on board. We found the door closed, but there was a contact phone number. We called and spoke with Stefanos, who explained all the features of the equipment we needed, which he delivered two days later. Everything was of top quality. Stefanos then invited us to do a test dive with the equipment, but unfortunately, we didn’t have the time available. A month later, we had to make a technical stop at Olympic Marina and got back in touch with Stefanos. We did two excellent dives, followed by an iced espresso. In addition to being a great instructor, Stefanos could also make a great barista. If you enjoy diving or want to try it and happen to pass through Lavrio, don’t miss the chance to visit this Dive Center.
