Really incredible visit. The views are top notch and the entire site is exquisite to visit and learn about. We were nervous about the time to drive up from Athens, but we hired a driver for the day and it was worth every bit of the cost. Not only a driver, but guiding us along the drive and pointing us in the right direction once at the site. Worth doing, don’t drive yourself and I’d avoid the massive tour buses. Very much worth a visit all around. Do the site first and museum second. Bring water and be prepared for hills.

Wonderful museum and archeological site closed to the modern village of Delphi. The museum has wonderful artifacts but is not overpoweringly large. There is a good flow through the development of Delphi as a sacred site and it's demise before being restored by the Romans. The archilogical site is deceptively large, winding a long way up the mountainside. Allow at least 90 minutes to see the whole site. Cafe at museum ticket office serves good coffee and sandwiches. The shop is a bit twee but has some interesting items. Main downside of the site is the toilets. There is nowhere near enough for the volume of visitors and the inevitable queues and lack of cleanliness are quite offputiing. Much better to take the short walk into a taverna in the village, and probably as quick

Delphi was absolutely breathtaking — one of the highlights of my trip to Greece. The combination of stunning mountain views, ancient ruins, and peaceful atmosphere makes it a truly special place. Walking through the archaeological site, you can really feel the history and imagine what it must have been like thousands of years ago. The Temple of Apollo, the ancient theater, and the stadium are incredible to see up close, and the museum adds great context with beautifully preserved artifacts. Everything is well organized and easy to explore, and the scenery surrounding the site is simply majestic — it feels almost spiritual.

We visited ancient site first due to rain, but recommend museum first. Great exhibits. Do not miss an allow at least 2 hours. Came later in the day and seemed ho be thinning out. Lots if tourist busses. Also was able to park on street close to museum for free. Lots of great artifacts and pieces of history.

Lots to see, varying degrees of difficulty great for individuals with wide range of physical capabilities, and must have a good knowledgeable guide to bring the site to life. Little known fact, a landslide in the last few years has made the area around and access to the Athena temple a restricted no entry area. However, there are plenty of amazing views and spaces to rest in the shade that allows you to soak it all up.

Delphi and the museum are just wonderful. There really is something special about the site and the museum is concise and has great information about the history of the area and more. Definitely worth the visit! My only drawback was the very expensive cafe at the museum - I bought a half a tiny pizza that was tasty but somewhat dry and far, far too costly.

It is humbling to see how advanced the ancient Greek were, compared with the rest of Europe. A really impressive site to visit. The walk to the stadium is quite a climb. (Not hard, just exhausting in warm weather) If you really want to see it, go for it. It is beautiful. I would surely recommend getting a top view from the theatre, to really see how big the site is. Also, dont forget to visit the museum. Perhaps visit the museum first. And remember the statues you see there. A lot of pieces of the puzzle will fall in to place at the site. As you can hardly imagine how things would have looked

The site itself is relatively compact and, to further that feeling, when we visited the Athena part of the monument was temporarily closed. The space is well kept, and even or a rainy day the site was still very accessible with no security concerns due to slippery terrains. The temple of Apollo was amazing and everything from top to bottom was stunning, especially in context with the rest of the remnants like the treasury and the market. Didn’t have time to visit the museum, however, I still found it very much enjoyable and interesting.

An unforgettable experience. After visiting the museum we climbed the hill up to Apollo's temple. The place has a certain atmosphere, which cuts through even when the huge tour groups rumble through each area. If you have any interest in the Oracle you must come to see this magical place. Ask Apollo for advice at his temple, which is the centre of the universe, and wait for a sign. The views are stunning and the only negative is I wished it hadn't been so busy. Perhaps try to visit at a quieter time of year. Highly recommended.

Very nice area on the top side of a mountain with a nice view. A lot of history here and informational plaques. There’s also plenty of staff around the help keep things moving and answer any questions. Would recommend taking a trip out here if your looking for places near Athens to explore

Nice place to stop by! Such a deep and narrow cuts which separates the Peloponnese peninsula from the Greek mainland. With a nice history behind ofcourse. Only the view from the bridge is stunning. I wanted to try bungee jumping here but it was closed 😩 Still, totally worth the visit!

We visited the Corinth Canal and were absolutely amazed by its breathtaking views — it’s a must-see both for its visual impact and historical significance. Standing on the bridge and looking down into the narrow, deep waterway is truly unforgettable. There are several nearby restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy a meal or a drink at relatively reasonable prices. It’s a great spot to take a break, enjoy the scenery, and soak in the atmosphere. For thrill-seekers, there’s also the opportunity to go bungee jumping right over the canal. At around €100 per person, it’s definitely on the pricier side, but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that adds a real adrenaline rush to your visit. Parking was easy and the area felt tourist-friendly. I’d highly recommend stopping here if you’re passing through the region — even a short visit is worth it!

The Corinth Canal is a fascinating sight. Typically, tour buses heading to the Peloponnese start there for a rest break and spend a few minutes seeing the canal. The ancient Greeks and Romans dreamed of building a canal here, but lack the technical ability. It was completed in the late 1800s using steam equipment. If you are able, suggest driving to the Diolkos. This was the ancient road that ran across the isthmus, mainly to transfer goods and on rare occasions ships.

This canal is impressive, but it’s a short 5-minute visit. Don’t expect much to do here; there’s nothing to see or do.

Absolutely amazing! Stunning views. We stopped here while travelling through Greece. There was plenty of parking and also many restraunts, shops, cafés and beaches nearby. Would definitely recommend going to see and experience for yourself.

A monastery off the beaten path which we really liked! We took a detour to the monastery on our way back from Arachova to Athens. It is big and beautiful and has a beautiful painted crypt and inside of the church. Well looked after and lost of interesting history. The stables and one or two other buildings did burn down 2-3 years ago and they are restoring it. It does not distract from the great experience and I can highly recommend the place. Lots of parking and we could pay by card.

A must see. Worth a detour, worth a visit. Meteora is also a must see at a stunning location. This is a stunning monastery at a beautiful place.

Stunning view of the mountains, the building itself is beautifully taken care of, it is active so people do go to participate in service but there is plenty of small areas to explore with bits of history information and a small museum room where u need to buy entry tickets. There is a large parking lot higher up from monastery but with the hills and stairs it could be difficult for someone with mobility issues. There are clean toilets for use before you get the entry gate as well

I drive in from Domvrina. The drive was amazing, Ag Anna was beautiful, all the villages on the way were beautiful and the Monestery is in a unbelievable place. Stunning views. The people there are so nice. I recommend anyone visiting Greece visit here.

Gorgeous monastery that everyone should visit. I can't believe how obscure this place is when it's monumental and religious value matches that of Parthenon in its respective hostorical era. The view is wonderful and everyone is so friendly and willing to share facts about Saint Loukas and the monastery itself.

High end Hotel beaming with tradition and history yet modern service. Their wellness spa is up there in line with the best that can be found worldwide. It was a short break but we have promised ourselves to come back for a long stay soon.

I had high expectations for this spa, given the premium prices, but unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. The cleanliness was absolutely unacceptable—dirty bathtubs, unkempt facilities, and an overall unhygienic environment that made it impossible to relax. The services were nowhere near what you would expect from a spa charging such high rates. The treatments felt rushed and unprofessional, with little to no attention to detail. The overall atmosphere lacked the serenity and luxury that a proper spa should offer. To make matters worse, the breakfast was just as bad—bland, low-quality food that was clearly not fresh.

The hotel is situated in a perfect location yet the maintenance is not as expected which left us with an unpleasant experience. The Spa pool and area are not clean enough, the towels ( if any, as not always available) are old and worn out same goes for the bathrob. This hotel has great potential to become a jewel but not in this cleanliness level.

It took us 2 days 1 night. We started off from gortsia. It was a crazy experience hiking Mount Olympus. The last bit of hiking is the hardest bit. We didn’t have helmets or ropes lol but you’re probably safer to get them, unless you’re fit and not scared of hights. Views up here was crazy and if you are a hiker you should definitely climb Mount Olympus!!

Yes, I'm reviewing a mountain. Not my first mountain either, although I haven't reviewed Kilimanjaro yet. Ok, it's a an actual mountain, summit above the tree line, though only 2918 meters (9.578 ft), no snow up there but plenty of wind and temps are way lower than at the bottom. It's about 25,000 steps to the top, almost all of them ascending, of course, over often technical rock and rooty trails. I suppose it could be done in a day, up and down, doubling the steps. but not by me. I'm 76 and two days were definitely necessary. There's a hut not far from the summit, very basic, with: • surprisingly good fresh food throughout the day and evening, staring with coffee at 6:30 am (and not a moment before) • yes they take cards, tho I was told sometimes the payment terrminals or internet connection don't work, so bring at least 25 Euro as backup • unheated rooms containing 8-12 cots, where you could end up trying to sleep next to someone snoring like a 500 lb boor, as I did. Not pleasant. Bring ear plugs.

The Archaeological Museum of Volos pleasantly surprised us. It offers a fascinating collection of tools, jewelry, and everyday objects, dating back as far as 5000 BC. It was truly exciting to see in real life what I used to read about in school textbooks. All the information is provided in both Greek and English, which makes the experience accessible and engaging. We arrived on a Saturday around 11 a.m. and were the only visitors for a while, which gave us the chance to explore everything at our own pace. After about 40 minutes, a school group arrived, which brought a different energy — it was nice to see kids learning about their history. Highly recommended for a calm, meaningful visit!

Nice little museum a bit out of the city centre of Volos. They have three different exhibitions: one detailing the palaeolithic and neolithic findings from Thessaly, one detailing burial customs and steles from ancient Demetrias, and one detailing the history of Volos. They have most signs in English, at least the ones describing the artifacts, but the informational signs in the Volos exhibition are only in Greek. Overall, the museum can be visited in less than an hour, especially in the morning when there are fewer visitors.

Wasn’t expecting the extend of the exhibits. Great pottery collections. Need less than an hour. Building has been maintained inside and outside (garden needs some tlc), aircondition was working so was nice and cool inside. Paid EUR 10 entrance. Seems like entrance increased based on previous Google reviews.

I have very mixed feelings about this museum. On the one hand the exhibits are very good with interesting history and artifacts. There is a good amount of information available. It's a small museum but well put together. On the other hand, a lot of the information is only available in Greek. You can download a doc but it only gives an overview of the different exhibitions and a floor plan of the museum, nothing about individual objects. Having said that, I'm not sure that it's fair that non-Greek speakers must pay the same price or even more, and also at 10 Euro (29 Aug 2025), I feel they can really put in a little effort to also have everything in English too. There's supposedly some audio available that you can listen to for some things. But I asked the lady at reception and she said it's not working. Her English was very bad, so she might also have meant it's not available in English. So definitely make sure you take your phone with you and have an internet connection available so you can use Google Translate or a similar app to translate the various exhibit plaques.

One of the most beautiful beaches we've been to. The descent to the beach is also very special and beautiful. There is an opening in the stone that actually creates a separation between two beaches - one is smaller and more intimate but quickly fills up with people as time goes by. We arrived around 10:00 and it wasn't busy yet. The parking lot was full. The beach fills up quickly and when we left, around 1:00 PM, the parking lot and the beach were already full. The cost of renting an umbrella and two beach chairs is 30 euros. Worth the investment.

In the long part of the beach there are several openings in the rock that look like entrances to caves. The sea here is fun for snorkeling because there are a lot of underwater rocks. There is a free parking lot above the beach, which is partly in the shade. There are steep steps and a steep and slippery path leading from the parking lot to the beach, so be careful. There is a restaurant in the parking lot with a great terrace and a divine view. There is a beach bar on the stairs with a fantastic view. Beautiful beach with lots of natural shade, and also a beautiful forest with a lake just next to the beach. Enjoyed every moment here. Beach bars are whatever tho but they have everything you need like coffees, drinks and food.

Beautiful sandy beach and clear blue water. There is a charge for the beds, local restaurant is nearby serving drinks and fantastic food. Sadly the toilets were not working so we had to walk 20 minutes to the other side of the beach. The beds are close together, its Europe so expect smokers and sadly that's all they do.

Considering this is one of the most popular beaches we had a great day here. We didn't get sunbeds but there are lots of trees where you can go in the shade. The water was great for snorkelling. There is nice beach bars too, changing places and a shower which is handy. The bus drops you right to the beach which was great.

A go to beach, perfect sand, clean water, and its big so its never actually overcrowded. Its pricey cause its popular, a normall frape will cost you not less than 4.5 e, a beer 5-7 e (small-big) and sunbeds are 30e, but you can find place in the shade beneath the pine trees which are practically everywhere, and the smell they give is perfect.

We came to this beach at the recommendation of the guys who rented us ATV. The road is not paved, you drive on dirt and also pass through forest for a bit. The view on the road towards it is great, and when you reach here feels like a reward. The beach has fine sand and gives the water wonderful colors.

We walked to the beach from bus stop 24 (take the path on the left of Under The Pine Trees Restaurant). Pleasant walk through the woods, some parts were a bit uphill. Towards the end the path seems to have been affected by rainfalls, but still manageable, just wear proper shoes. The whole way took us about 25 mins walking leisurely. The beach itself is very nice with clear water. Two sun beds + umbrella for 10€. There is a kiosk selling drinks and light snacks with a seating area overlooking the sea. There was a decent amount of people there when we visited but not crowded.

A more rustic beach which was a nice contrast. It does have a bar but it's way more low key and the beach does have sunbeds, they do feel a bit old but they were cheap so it's all good. The beach has lovely water and was great snorkeling. We got off the bus at stop 24 and it was a beautiful walk down through a lush forest. Would recommend as a more wholesome natural beach

This was our favourite beach out of four or five we visited in Skiathos! It was quieter, both in terms of number of people and it being the only one we'd been to where we couldn't hear music/boats coming and going etc. It's a bit more rough and ready than other beaches, so probably look elsewhere if you'd like more facilities. €14 for two loungers and an umbrella which was the cheapest we paid anywhere. The loungers are cash-only, but the hut selling food and drinks accepts card. We had a decent lunch of greek salad, omelete, pitta bread and tzatziki - expect a bit of a wait for food as it's only small and there was quite a queue around lunchtime! It was a lovely 20 minute walk through the pine forest from bus stop 24.

Mandraki Elias beach is different from other beaches you can find It is most of time windy ( at daytime but less in the afternoon) but more wild than others There is a small tavern where you can get food and drinks no more expensive than in the rest of the island The taverna also rents two sunbeds and one umbrella for 15€ but we preferred to walk to the right side part of the beach People working at the tavern are nice and welcoming The golden beach and clear blue water are just amazing A place to stay

Love this beach! One of my favourites! We got two sunbeds and an umbrella for €30 at end of July. They were very comfy ones though and a man would take orders and bring you the food and drink. The water is so lush and had so much fish, was great for snorkelling. I rented a kayak at the stand there for €15 which was great and they were very nice there. We got the bus and got off at stop 20 and it was an easy walk down. Absolutely loved it and had a great time 🤿😅💕

We really enjoyed our time at this beach. We arrived around 10 a.m. and it was still quiet, with only a few people around. It started to get more crowded closer to midday, but there was still plenty of space on the public beach and under the pine trees. The water was crystal clear and deepened gradually, making it ideal and safe for our toddler. A lovely spot for families!

We recommend go arrive early (before 10 am). You can get good spots both on sunbeds and on your own blankets under the trees. There are taverns, toilets and showers right on the beach. The sea is clean, in the afternoon there are more people on the beach.

Sand beach with an incredible amount of fish. The sea bottom here is sand with small sea weed like a football playground. This is the way we saw it in the beginning of September. If you like snorkeling this is definitely a nice place. The beach is easily accessible by bus. It is a popular beach and most of it is with sunbeds. However there is a small free area. We visited it just for a couple of hours in the morning to enjoy the fish in the sea.

The beach itself is nice, no waves, clean water but overall the facility is not worth the money you pay for the sunbeds. There are no restrooms, no trash cans…

Sven took us down the coast with stops along the way to swim and snorkel from his comfortable yacht. Lots of soft drinks and sandwiches were included, and we stopped off at a beach bar where we could buy more drinks. Sven is friendly and so too were his other passengers (his boat was not over crowded and there was space to either sit in the sun or shade). Our day was enjoyable and memorable. The trip was easy to check out on the website and book through WhatsApp messaging. The trip is great value for money.

We couldn’t recommend Daysailing with Sven enough. The day was excellent from start to finish. The tour was easy to book direct on the website and Sven communicated with us via WhatsApp, which was super convenient. The weather was amazing, the sea calm and we met some lovely people. All while having a laugh and visiting some of the most beautiful swimming bays & beaches around Halkidiki. We were given our own cooler box with plenty of drinks and a lovely lunch. A SUP board & snorkel equipment was also supplied. This is a perfect trip for couples, friends, or families - highly recommend! ⭐️

We booked a sunset sailing trip with Sven in September 2025, for a special anniversary. The experience was absolutely perfect. Sven is a very hospitable and a very skilled sailor. The views of the Kassandra “leg” were great, we saw a pod of dolphins jumping all around the sailing boat “Sirena” and had time for swimming once the anchor was dropped. Then some drinks and delicious fruit, taking in a glorious sunset, before sailing back to shore. Would recommend very highly, unforgettable.

What a fantastic day! From the moment we boarded we felt very welcomed. Plenty of opportunities to swim, snorkel and attempt paddle boarding throughout the day. Not a moment felt rushed. Sven was a brilliant host, and we came away with many happy memories, including a mobile phone retrieved from the ocean floor by Olympic diver, aka, Sven 😉🤣....11/10 experience!

I joined the “Daysailing in Group” tour and had a great time. Sven really knows what he’s doing. He communicates very well and has such a positive attitude. The boat was clean, we didn’t have any issues, and everything was super enjoyable. The spots where we stopped to swim were absolutely beautiful. At one point, we went ashore with a Zodiac and visited a beach bar. 🍸 All in all, the organization was excellent. Thank to Sven and his son! 😊👍⛵️☀️🏊‍♂️🏝️

We had an amazing sailing experience with Daysailing. The captain’s many years of experience were evident in every part of the trip, and his friendly, confident manner made the whole journey even more enjoyable. We were lucky to catch a great wind, which gave us the chance to experience proper sailing at its best. The trip ended with delicious sandwiches prepared by the captain himself, adding a personal and thoughtful touch to the day. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy both the thrill and the peace of being out on the water!

Great communication from the first minute, easy online booking, clear instructions for the meeting point, well balanced route, suitable for all ages, great secret spots for swimming and snorkeling ! This is one of my two favorite beaches here. It’s not crowded, with only three rows of sunbeds and plenty of trees for natural shade. Sunbeds with an umbrella cost €20. There’s also a bar offering cocktails and some food. Free parking available. I totally recommend it!

Very beautiful beach, especially at the South end, there is a big rock and many fish near it, after the rock there are stone stairs and you can go to another tiny beach made only of rock. Great for snorkling! Free parking on the road right next to the beach.

Beautiful beach. Everything is so clean and the staff is very polite A big salute to Pavlos. Private parking aswell. The water is cristal clear and there are so many choices of sunbads (first row or the last if you like to stay in the shadow) We were amazed and rested well there. All recommandations.

This beach is absolutely amazing. The water is so crystal clear and warm. The sand is so soft to walk on even in the water. It’s so easy to swim and lots of water sports and things to hire such as paddle boards and pedal boats. You can choose to sit on the lounge chairs provided. They are dearer than other beaches but they are very comfortable and great service from the waiters. There’s opportunities to snorkel and even scuba dive. A must visit even for a day.

Nice beach place, good food and drinks, friendly staff, you can rent canoe and boats. But it's a bit annoying that even with consumption you still have to pay for umbrella and chaise lounges.

In my opinion, this is one of the better and more beautiful beaches in Sithonia. The sunbeds are expensive — up to €50 — and during weekdays, the sunbeds are relatively empty. We brought our own umbrellas and set them up in the free area of the beach. The sea and its color are absolutely stunning. It gets crowded on weekends, but it's still worth a visit. My recommendation is to come as early as possible, as there’s no proper parking and you’ll have to leave your car on the dirt road. Please park considerately and leave enough space for those who are trying to leave. DESPERATELY NEEDED: trash bins and toilets on the beach itself.

Great beach, but parking is a huge problem. Avoid the main parking and instead go for Isla Beach on Google maps. You will end up on the nort side of Kalogria Beach, but there’s parking spaces even at noon there. It’s also much easier to get back to the main road from there.

It is always full but is a very nice beach with natural shade, a great restaurant and bar nearby. The water is warm and shallow and luckily there are no sunchairs

Very beautiful beach with white rock formations, rocks in the water, great for snorkeling! We saw many types of fish and an octopus. Free parking right next to the beach and then you go down to the rocks, easy access.

A beautiful beach for families with kids especially. On the one side it’s covered with rocks so you gotta be careful, but the water is clear. On the other side it’s covered in sand and it’s perfect for children, however sometimes the water can get a little dirty.

An extremely beautiful and unusual beach. There are many rocks and coves. There is a cafe next to the beach where you can buy a refreshing drink.

Great beach! Warm, shallow water, fine white sand, enough shade… Shaltered from the waves by rocks. Beautifull view of Mount Athos. The only ‘problem’ is too much waste from the trees near the shore, but it’s easy to get around.

Magical place, cosy taverns, tasty food. In my opinion September is the best time to be there. Day cruiser available to different destinations and water taxi to well organised beach ⛱️.

Great photo opp. Oranopolis is a pretty little village to buy some gifts and have food/drinks...The taxis drop off and pick up directly outside the Byzantine Tower so if you visit Oranopolis by cab, you really can't miss it!

The Byzantine Tower of Petriona, also known as the Tower of Ouranoupolis, is one of the most iconic monuments in Halkidiki, Greece. Visit this old tower to learn a piece of history and for the view on the sea. Take a few minutes to read the information about the history, because it is definitely better than the exposition hosted inside the tower. The tower is not very tall and the last floor is off limits but still, the view from the window stills is nice.

It’s the signature tower of Ouranoupolis but although I’ve been many times in the village on my way to Agion Oros, haven’t had a chance to visit inside. The locals tell me there isn’t anything special which is a shame because it could have been a great museum as the spot is very touristy…

Visited the ancient ruins while on a pilgrimage tour of Greece. The whole site is massive with ruins dating back to the time of St. Paul the Apostle and from the later Byzantine era. It is highly recommended during the summer to wear a hat, bring sunscreen and an umbrella for shade. Highlights included the amphitheater, Byzantine era basilica, the town square and the location of the prison where Paul and Silas were kept in during their stop over in the city. Next to the entrance is a cafe where you can purchase food and drinks.

Very fun experience overall. Alot of the places to see were closed off for Saftey, and the museum costs alot - 10 euros each on top of the entrance ticket, despite that, the staff Is very nice, a man gave us a tour around a section of the plot, around a tomb. you get an hour or two of walking around and exploring for ten euros and kids go free. I'd recommend strongly, especially if more things open up

I loved visiting here, especially being a Christian and knowing the history of this town. The excavations are only partially done, but you can still get a real feel of what it must have been like. Such a great experience!

This is very important site for Bible story. There are site of prison of Paul & Silas. This is the place that encounter triggered events that led to Paul and Silas being imprisoned. In Acts 16:16, a young slave girl with a spirit of divination, who was earning her masters a lot of money by fortune-telling, met Paul and Silas as they were going to prayer. In Acts 16:23, after being severely flogged, Paul and Silas were thrown into prison and ordered to be guarded carefully by the jailer. On May 18 of 2025, which we visited, Greece celebrates International Museum Day, when museums and archaeological sites are open for free.

I loved the amphitheatre and it's amazing acoustics! It's insane to experience the "technology" that they had so many years back. We went on our own, so I think we missed a lot of the information, although there were enough signs explaining what you were looking at. The prison of Paul that we were most excited to see, was not much, but it was nice being at the place that he walked and spoke. The price of 10€/person is a bit too much.

10 euro per person to enter. Worth the excursion. Small village of Krinides nearby for a nice lunch.

A beautiful and big archaeological site worthy visiting. Admission was about $6 Euro per adult. On the day of our visit happened to be a special holiday in April and admission was free. They have lots of displays and explanation signs along the way. Along a QR code to download for more information. It is a fair big area. Do bring comfortable shoes and sun / wind protections. Water for a hot day. You will also find a prison cell label St. Paul’s prison (as Paul was jailed in Philippi according to the Bible) There are restaurants and facilities in the entrance area you can get food and drinks as well. Museums and shops, etc. Highly recommended!

Very nicely kept. Views from the top of the tower are amazing and this justifies the very steep climb you have to take in order to get to the fortress. But don't skip climbing the tower stairs as it's not nearly the same view from the walls...

It's worth it for the view, although you can see the same view from any high place in the city. The ticket is 5€ per person, which I think is a bit much for one climb up the stairs to the top. Be careful with the stairs, they are steep and narrow, also watch your head (I say this from experience) and if you have claustrophobia don't go in!

This is one of the city's landmarks that can be seen from everywhere. It is a little difficult to access, due to the small streets and parking restrictions, which is a discomfort for tourists and a great relief after the introduction of the new rules for local citizens. So, it will take you between 10 and 20 minutes of walking and climbing, depending on your pace, until you reach the fortress. There is discomfort when it is a very hot day. Everything else is great. You can get a ticket and enter to learn more about the history and the city. As well as see panoramic views that are revealed from the fortress. There is also a cafe where you can rest and refresh yourself. I recommend visiting it, especially if you are interested in history. This is also a good place for children to learn new information and develop their thinking and imagination.

You will have 360 degree view of Kavala city. Entry is 5 € for July’25. Inside of castle, there are not much things to see. Go to tower and the best view is there. Castle is opening at 08:00 which I recommend that time because stairs of tower is quite narrow so that might be trouble if many people there.

Great place and worth the hike up to find it. If you are going solo as I did follow a mixture of google maps but also the local signs, even the ones painted on walls. Following google maps I got to a few dead ends. Entrance costs 4 euro and there is a bar inside! You may need that as I did after the hike up. The Castle itself is interesting but you will have been to many better. The point here is its location at the top and the great views it gives of Kavala. It’s a quiet place with no access for buses full of tourists! The walk down was a lot easier than the walk up and I think in retrospect I should have started from the viaduct from the last arch north to south, or the arch nearest the hill on which is the Fortress.

We enjoyed our visit to the fortress after we found parking. The maps tried to take us up thru very narrow streets which were too narrow for it van . We ended up parking down by the waterfront and walking up because there is no parking at the fortress.

These walls most likely follow the outline of those of ancient Neapolis, as was the name of the city in the Classical era and all the way through the Roman times. Emperor Julian (yes, that one, the one known as the apostate), made some improvements and repairs, as the threat of the barbarian tribes could not be withheld by the defenses along the Danube. Emperor Justinian also included the city in his extensive rebuilding program. So did Romanos Lekapenos, but by this time, the city had been renamed Christopolis. The job must have been a good one, as it was one of the very few fortifications that managed to repel the marauding Catalan Company, even though this occurred 4 centuries after these repairs. Nevertheless, the attack must have taken its toll, as Emperor Andronikos II commissioned repairs shortly afterward. The city held until the late 14th century, when it fell to the Turks, who in turn reconstructed the walls in the early 15th century. Some parts of the outer layers remain, but the citadel is in good condition and has been reconstructed. It offers a wonderful as well as impressive depiction of the fortifications and magnificent viewpoints too. An overall enjoyable experience for all. The only downside is the absence of parking space, but the ascent through the old town has its charm as well.

It is worth coming here for a couple of hours- for some jumping and snorkeling near by is simply beautiful. Even though it was full of people there was room for everyone. Also jumping can be down at different heights so you can overcome your fears and keep developing 🚀

A great spot for beautiful photos. We visited in the second half of September. Parking near the lagoon costs 4 euros, but you can park for free a little earlier. It's still an 8-minute walk down. The descent is not easy for those 60+. There are plenty of smooth rocks there, perfect for sunbathing.

Amazing natural pool with a breathtaking view. It is easy to get in the lagoon. It is a bit difficult to get out, but with a little help it is managable. Not many tourists get inside which is good because it keeps the water clean. Don't bring umbrellas and sea-chairs because there is no place to put them. The area is rocky. Nobody stays for long time because it isn't a beach. I take a star down because THERE is a road to get close to the lagoon but the "bussinessman" who bought the area have closed the road only to get through their taverns and their coffee shops to spend your money. So you have to walk down a 20-minute road. There are two options. Follow the yellow sign "Giola" or you can follow the blue sign "Giola vibes". Both ways get you to the lagoon. You just pass through the tavern or the coffee shop. Don't park in the parking area because it is not free. You can park for free anywhere among the olive trees. TIP from a local: Don't park on the cement street because the police checks the area every 2 hours and gets the car plates if you have parked on the cement street.

I recommend going at a time when there aren't many people around and the weather isn't too hot. It's worth seeing, and swimming there is a wonderful experience, but only under the conditions I mentioned.

The lagoon is amazing and the view .. wow But the way to the lagoon is way too far and hard 🤣 make sure you have appropriate shoes for water and also sneakers to arrive there, no sleepers!!

The visit was wonderful and worth coming.Its very fun for jumping but I give an advice and go there early.The ticket for the parking was 4 euros for 2 hours.But it's a little hard to get there by feet

Unique but dangerous. Jumping in is easy, getting out, not so. Very slippy. We saw numerous people slip on the rocks.

The bay itself is beautiful. The beach would be beautiful if it wasn't so ram-packed with beach chairs and umbrellas. You can barely move. Also big boats come in and dump 100s of passengers into the bay. Taverna Leonidas is a lovely place to sit and enjoy lunch, and the archaeological site of Aliki is right next to the beach and worth a visit. Therefore I'd visit the beach if I were visiting the archaeological site, but wouldn't drive here just for the beach - there are better. Parking is up on the main road. There's a quieter beach behind on the others side of the peninsula, 2 min walk from here.

Such a beautiful beach! In the early morning (9 AM) it is not crowded, there is plenty of space where you can choose from. We chose a set of sunbeds which were 20€ per set, without anything included. But the staff there (a lady and a man) are very friendly, attentive. We ordered 2 coffees and a water and they were brought in less than 5 minutes. There are no waves, the water is clear and lean, perfect for kids and families. There are parking spaces along the main road, a couple of minutes apart from the beach.

To crowdedness for our taste. But other than that, water was perfect until tourist boats came with their garbage which ended up in water. You should definitely come early here in order to park your car. This is a beach for families with children, so if you are not fond of that, avoid it.

It has nice views but the space is not well maintained, i came back after 2 years and some informative panels are destroyed and vegetation can be irrigated maybe.

We visited Aliki Beach and chose to stay at the middle beach bar with the brown sunbeds. The price for two sunbeds and an umbrella is €20 , this is only for the sunbeds, and anything you order from the bar is not included in this price. The staff makes sure to inform you about this right from the beginning. The prices are very reasonable for a beach bar. Everything was great the staff were friendly, polite, very well organized, and they also speak English very well, which makes communication easy and pleasant. We definitely plan to return!

It is a wonderful beach with crystal clear water. There are many facilities in the beach with different prices, I recommend the place with the beige sunbeds ( the one next to the brown sunbeds). It had a minimum consumption amount of 30 euros for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella without extra fees so it was great.

Excellent for kids, but expensive. First and second rows of sunbeads are minimum consumption 70eur in taverna, other rows were from 50eur, and it is always full. You need to park on the street, and there are a lot of car parks.

A beautiful beach worth a visit. There are 2 cafes on it, and in between there are places for tourists who don't want to be in those cafes. The view is beautiful, the water is warm and not too windy, a real paradise. Only the approach to the beach is terrible, if you don't have a good car, be careful! For this reason, I give a rating of 4.

Love this beach. It is in a beautiful setting and is reasonably accessible. It’s especially accommodating and safe for children as it is shallow in many parts. Would highly recommend to visit it.

Nice beach with soft sand and shallow water. There are free areas where you can sit, parking lots and beach bars where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas as well. After 11:00 it gets pretty crowded.

Parking - many people park on the main road, however when I drove all the way down to the parking next the beach there were 2 parking spaces free. The road down to the beach it steep and sandy/dusty. There is a chance the on the way back some cars might get stuck towards the end. Nature - the sand is very fine, however the beach is not well cleaned. Many sticks, cigarettes, and small pieces of rubbish in the sand. I think that the two beach bars should take better care on the condition of the beach. Beach bars- there are two beach bars. A set of 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella costs 30 euros and includes 1 drink. At the area of the bars ice bags are not allowed. Shower is ONLY allowed for the people who are paying fot umbrella set. There is no free shower, which is very dissapointing... Sea - the water is clean. The depth is shallow until further in the sea. It is suitable for small children. Overall, it is loud and crowded beach, because of its popularity. Furthermore , because of the policy the the two beach bars, people who are not using the sunbeds feel unwanted on the beach.

Best beach on Thassos. It has enough space for everyone, even for those who bring their own umbrellas and chairs. It has a big parking area few minutes away from the beach.

My favorite beach in Thassos! Surrounded by greenery, with crystal-clear water and fine sand, it’s simply beautiful. There’s free parking, though the road leading to it isn’t the best – but everything else more than makes up for it. The beach has a spacious free zone and two bars/restaurants. We highly recommend Nikos Bar & Grill.

As the name suggests... Paradise Beach is beautiful. We stopped at Nik's Grill and Bar for some drinks. The places has EUR30 per set loungers and umbrellas on offer which also includes 2 drinks. They look good quality ans extremely comfortable. Lots and LOTS of wasps (like everywhere on the island). The view and scenery is lovely as the name of the beach would suggest. The road down isn't great, in fact hire cars aren't allowed down it, so it's a bit of a walk from the main road.

Wide open area to view the beach, small carnival area just below, unsure of its opening times, and plenty of spots to sit.

The view is amazing overlooking the sea from a high place. The area has several cafes, markets, and a wonderful collection of shopping options.

I was disappointed that the fountain stopped too early before I could take picture. But it’s a nice place ☺️

There is a very wide sidewalk along the sea, which is a few kilometers long. It is full of tables from restaurants and coffee shops, it has much space for cycling or walking. The view is amazing, especially at sunset. Visit TripAdvisor to find the best restaurants, which have both greek and eastern cuisine.

Nice place! In weekend the road is closed and a lot of people come on the seaside. Best to visit in evening.

Nice place to hang out. Lunch places are all around. There is a nice view over the harbour.

Great experience for everybody, adults and kids. Nice displays and aquariums. Also the South Pole setup with penguins and the tropical forest with Piranhas. Good for a day with rainy weather or a very hot summer day.

Visited with my two children and it was a great experience. My son really loved the interactive ship wreck section, and we all loved the Amazon rainforest forest section. The different sections at the aquarium educated on the various fish found around Türkiye region, which was very interesting. Also loved some of the history / folklore included, like Hercules and the statue of Poseidon. We also did the VR underwater movie experience which was educational and experiential.

A really beautiful place to visit, especially on a rainy day — my warm recommendation! It’s very easy to reach by public transport, as the metro goes directly there without any transfers. In the aquarium, besides seeing many different species of fish and a few animals from the tropical rainforest, you can also learn a lot about history and many other interesting and educational facts. The whole environment is stunning — you can really tell how much effort they put into the aesthetic and design. In addition to exploring the aquarium itself, they also offer an exhibition called “Giants of the Sea” and a VR experience. To be honest, the “Giants of the Sea” exhibition was a bit disappointing — I expected a bit more. There are only four animals on display, and the space is quite small, so you don’t get the chance to learn much about them. It would be great if they developed that part a bit further. The VR experience didn’t impress me too much either, and the line was very long, which took up a lot of time. What annoyed me the most was people’s rudeness in the queue — for example, one family member would stand in line while the rest were wandering around, and then all of them (sometimes six or more) would cut in once it was their turn. I can understand people being rude, but I think the staff should pay more attention to that and not allow such things, because it makes the wait even longer for everyone else. We waited about an hour and a half for the VR, and honestly, the line would have moved much faster if people weren’t constantly cutting in. I also recommend getting the combined ticket if you plan to visit the exhibition, try the VR, and take a souvenir photo — it’s all included in the package, and it’s a bit cheaper than paying for each activity separately. You can also buy tickets online, which is a big advantage so you don’t have to wait in line. But even if you buy them on-site, there are many open counters, so everything moves quite quickly. Overall, my warm recommendation for visiting this aquarium — a lovely and educational experience for all ages! 🥰

Amazing place! So beautiful! You can tell its made with love to the animals,they take very good care of them ! Perfect for family kids and adults. Definitely a must if you are going to Istanbul!

The staff member at the entrance was rude and unpleasant, insisting we take a photo we didn’t want to. That spoiled the experience a little. But the aquarium itself is really worth seeing - it’s beautiful, clean, and has different zones. Very atmospheric! The Istanbul Aquarium was a really nice experience! It’s big, well-organized, and you can see a huge variety of sea animals from all around the world. The decoration and atmosphere make you feel like you’re really under the sea. It’s also super interesting and fun for children, they’ll love discovering all the different species. Perfect place to visit for families or anyone who loves marine life!

This is a nice aquarium though not like those in the US. There aren't any massive animals, or even a great many at that. Where it does shine is that they do a great job tying in Turkish history to the waterways that nearly surround the country. If you want to combine history with an aquarium, this is your place. Also, the aquarium is part of a larger shopping mall with a ton of stores and a food court that can be found on the top floor. Tons of places to eat with a massive variety available. You can overlook the water while you eat which is quite peaceful. This is a great 25-50% of a day killer also if you're looking to avoid weather. Tourist friendly, filled with gracious locals and staff, and away from the vast majority of tourist areas. Metro station across the street, which is not hard to use.

I visited the Rüstem Pasha Mosque today and it was truly amazing. The architecture is breathtaking, with its elegant domes and tall minarets creating a serene atmosphere. Inside and outside, everything is clean and well-maintained, making it a peaceful place to pray or simply enjoy the beauty of the design. The people were welcoming and respectful, which made my visit even more special. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

So this historic mosque was semi-difficult to find in the spice bazaar; after Google maps brought me to the endpoint of my route, I eventually found a plaque next to an open door that said the name. Love that all are welcome here, beautiful architecture on the outside, and very famous iznik tiles patterns on the inside. You are welcome to take photos inside as long as you don’t cross the line for prayer, and your shoes are off. Everything about this mosque is aesthetic. It was peaceful and I am grateful to have prayed here.

A peaceful environment inside the masjid with a separate section and entrance for women. Outside in the courtyard, the noise of the people from tons of shops around can be quite irritating. All in all a typical look to the beautiful mosque design and feel as the traditional mosques here. A huge ring of lights just under the main dome adds to the beauty of Turkish feel of mosques.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hidden gem that makes other mosques look positively understated 💎🎨 Rüstem Paşa Camii is what happens when a 16th-century grand vizier decides to show off - and thank goodness he did. Tucked away above the shops near the Egyptian Bazaar, this architectural marvel is Istanbul's best-kept secret hiding in plain sight. The climb up those narrow stairs might leave you slightly breathless, but nothing prepares you for the visual assault waiting inside. This place is absolutely dripping in İznik tiles - and I mean proper, gorgeous, museum-quality ceramics covering nearly every surface. The floral patterns, geometric designs, and that distinctive blue-and-white palette create a kaleidoscope effect that'll have you spinning around like a kid in a sweet shop. What's brilliant about this mosque is how it punches well above its weight. It's smaller than the big-name mosques, but the attention to detail is absolutely extraordinary. Every tile, every pattern, every colour choice screams quality over quantity. Sinan knew exactly what he was doing when he designed this beauty. The best part? It's usually blissfully quiet compared to the tourist crowds elsewhere. You can actually take your time to appreciate the craftsmanship without someone's selfie stick poking you in the ribs. Pro tip: The lighting is magical in late afternoon when the sun streams through the windows and hits those tiles just right. Pure Instagram gold, but more importantly, pure architectural poetry.

Rüstem Pasha Mosque is smaller than other famous mosques nearby, but it is very special. The İznik tiles are beautiful—blue, red, and white patterns cover the walls and make the place feel peaceful and artistic. You can see that the builders worked with great care and skill, just like in the big mosques. It’s quiet, not crowded, and perfect if you want to enjoy the art and take your time. Mosque is hidden in Eminonu area and surounded whit many shops. Not very big but very beautiful mosque. Entrance is hiden in small street. Mosque has a special energy and is nice place to take a break from vandering thrue the bazzar shoos

We did a cruise on the Bosphorus Strait which separates Istanbul into 2 continents, Asia and Europe. There are some very nice sites along the shore including the last Palace of the Sultans.

I visited Istanbul in 2022 and took a ferry across the Bosphorus for a very affordable price to go to Kadiköy for my cousin’s wedding dress. It was such a nice moment,the view was stunning and there was even a singer performing ,making the trip even more enjoyable. There are also dinner cruises with live shows on the Bosphorus,definitely something I’ll try next Time !

Had a beautiful experience in the Bosphorus area and cruising through it. We did the cruise in the evening time from when it was bright under the sun till it got dark and the shades changed into night lights. Would definitely recommend, both sides of the Bosphorus have lots of iconic monuments and views to watch out for.
