Platja de Ses Illetes is a stunning white-sand beach located on a narrow strip of land with breathtaking sunset views and luxurious boats docked nearby. It is known for being the destination where extravagant superyachts bring their guests to enjoy exquisite seafood and fine wine at the exclusive beach club Juan y Andrea. I've never seen a beach like this before! The water is a stunning turquoise blue — absolutely beautiful. So peaceful and quiet. Just lying down and doing nothing is the best way to enjoy it. Truly amazing. You must visit this place!
竹内寛 — Google review
It was a very cute beach just to stop in for an hour in the afternoon. You’re good to swim around in the reefs. There’s no immediate danger. The wreaths are safe to step on, and there is a little trash, but not too much The people are very friendly as well
Margaret F — Google review
Water is perfect but is overcrowded and there are less overrun parts of Formentera to enjoy. DO NOT EAT AT LA PIRATA! Worst tourist trap in Ibiza, paella is not cooked through .
Heather A — Google review
Impressive!! What a beach! 😍 The sand feels like powder, the water is crystal clear and calm, and you can walk far out and it stays the same depth… absolutely loved it!
Maria V — Google review
Fantastic sunset. Beautiful beaches. Can get there easily with moto beautiful weather in October. No crowds perfect.
Joyce — Google review
Mindblowing beach. I would recommend to stay for 2, 3 days if possible in Formentera. It is indeed one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Fernanda F — Google review
Busy beach. Would advise walking right down to the end or sitting on the side with the waves if you prefer less people around. We thought we could walk from the port, but it was a little far. I believe there's a bus (l13) or hire a bike.
Liv H — Google review
The most beautiful beach on Formentera, there is one restaurant that is too expensive, there are sunbeds and umbrellas that must be reserved in advance

Platges de Comte, located on the western side of Ibiza, is a standout beach due to its size and stunning setting. With clear waters and a length of 800 meters, it offers sandy sections as well as rocky areas, including a nudist-friendly spot. The beach is known for its picturesque views of little islands and the famous Ibiza sunset. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil and multicolored waters for an unforgettable swimming experience.
Beautiful beach and the coast. Crystal clear azul water! Amazing views, and beautiful beach. If you are on Ibiza you must see it. Very easy to get in by bus number 4 from Sant Antoni and from most place along the coast. Two restaurants on site. Public (clean!) toilets. Large parking. Definitely must see it on Ibiza 5*
Gregoz — Google review
For me, it's a fantastic place to spend at least part of the day in these idyllic landscapes. The beach is fantastic and although there can be big waves, with less wind it's truly heavenly. The colors of the water and sky turn this place into a European paradise spot.
Lucca T — Google review
Every time coming to Cala Comte is amazing. Sea colours are unique, water very clear, sand thin everything just perfect for a perfect beach day. Pink sand also seen and fishes swimming next to people. Lovely. Is a must to see when in Ibiza island.
MARIA P — Google review
Crazy crowded and beautiful with options for those that wanna go topless and those that don’t. There’s a restaurant here and places to buy souvenirs. You can rent chairs as well. The water is perfect and you can see the sunset from here. parking is a short walk away from here.
Heather A — Google review
25 April 2024 Beautiful beach with sand and clear water. I think it's the most famous beach in Ibiza. There are a lot of restaurants where you can refresh yourself. I really recommend to go there for a sunset which leave you breathless, very romantic! To reach there roads are bad
Prudvi R — Google review
Platges de Comte is absolutely breathtaking — one of the most beautiful beaches in Ibiza! The water is unbelievably clear and shimmers in every shade of blue and turquoise, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The surrounding rocky cliffs and small coves add to the stunning natural scenery. It’s also one of the best spots on the island to watch the sunset — truly unforgettable. The vibe is chilled yet lively, and there are a couple of great beach bars where you can enjoy a cocktail or a delicious meal while soaking in the views. Whether you’re here to relax, explore, or just take in the beauty, Platges de Comte is a must-visit for any Ibiza itinerary.
Pratik R — Google review
One of the best beaches in Ibiza...there you can come with taxi or bus number L4 from Sant Antoni bus station or with your own car... There is parking if you come with car... The water is so clear and clean... It's not so deep, and you can come so far in the water from the beach... The beach is not so big, but always you can find place to put your towel... There is two great restaurants with so quality food and drink... It's not so expensive... There is lot of young people... One of the nicest sunset on the island... Great view... All recommendations for visit and spend all day if you are at Ibiza 👌
VLAJKO P — Google review
Parking was easy to find and conveniently close to the beach, which was a great start. However, the experience at Ashram Restaurant wasn’t ideal – prices are quite high, and because many people are waiting for a table, you feel rushed to finish your meal and leave quickly. Finding a free sunbed on the beach is nearly impossible, so I definitely recommend bringing your own umbrella and a good book – you’ll likely be sitting on the sand. That said, the sea is absolutely stunning – honestly, one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. Of course, it’s very crowded, so I’m not sure July is the best time to visit. Still, if you’re looking for crystal-clear water, this place is hard to beat.

Castell de Peníscola

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Fortress
Castell de Peníscola is a massive medieval fortress located on the seafront, once serving as a papal seat. The castle offers tours and hosts cultural events. Visitors can enjoy unparalleled views of the sea and the castle from modern, well-equipped rooms with spacious terraces. The surrounding old town features stunning white-washed houses, stone steps, narrow alleyways, and hidden viewpoints.
Peñíscola Castle is an incredible place to visit—rich in history and full of charm. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you’ll love knowing that parts of the series were filmed here, and walking through the same locations feels surreal. The castle itself is beautiful, well-preserved, and offers breathtaking views of the coastline and the surrounding town. It’s a perfect blend of history and scenery. The area around the castle is just as enjoyable, with lots of small shops to pick up souvenirs and plenty of restaurants with stunning views, making it a great spot to enjoy lunch or dinner after exploring. The beach is also fantastic—clean, lively, and just steps away from the old town. Altogether, Peñíscola offers a perfect mix of culture, food, and relaxation.

Views for days. You can enjoy both the castle and the garden for a moderate price of 5 euro / adult. Lots to visit and explore. Perfect gateway for a cloudy day so you can enjoy the views without breaking a sweat. l
Alex T — Google review
Peniscola Spain is the beautiful setting for this Castle jewel. It costs 5 euro to tour the Castle and Garden, each. Shoes or sandals with good traction will serve you well as the walk up to the Castle is on very smooth and worn stone steps, walk ways and streets, and dont forget you still have the walk down. This castle is amazing to see in person and has a long and interesting past. Must Visit!
Ron M — Google review
Landmark & Historical Castle This is the Spanish Mont Saint Michel, it is really nice to see and I believe unique in Spain. This Castle sits on the see and looks great from afar. In the town itself you can see a few narrow streets a few restaurants. We enjoyed wandering around here, and can only highly recommend visiting!

Great old Castillo. Knights Template etc. interesting old town with good photo opportunities. €3.50 entrance to the castle for young and concessions such as over 60, a bit upset they didn't query our age.,€5 for normal entry. Enjoyable couple of hours. Large and steep steps in places. Well worth the visit.
Michael C — Google review
Beautiful castle as seen in The Game of Thrones (GOT) Season 6. Well maintained with plenty of beautiful views of the city and beaches. Patking downtown is available. Nice walk up to the castle.

A stunning medieval castle with incredible views over the sea and the old town. Full of history, charm, and beautiful architecture – a must-see when visiting Peñíscola.
Daniela P — Google review
Amazing views to the sea, the pennisula, and the local beaches! The view is the best part of the experience, although, the castle does have a rich history, esp.the story of Pope Luna, and the castle garden was used in the shooting of A Game of Thrones. Sun block is recommended. ☀️🇪🇸🌅

PortAventura World

Mentioned on

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Located in Tarragona, Spain, PortAventura World is a seaside theme park that offers an array of attractions for visitors. The park is divided into six thematic areas: the Mediterranean, Polynesia, China, Mexico, the Far West and Sesamo Aventura. Each area features rides and shows related to its theme. From state-of-the-art roller coasters like Dragon Khan in China to live entertainment and water slides, there's something for everyone at this popular European destination.
I've wanted to visit this park for a long time, I've seen a lot of reviews on YouTube. And I finally came! The park itself is gorgeous, a huge area, a bunch of places with food and drinks, you can eat fast food, you can have salads, or you can find something interesting. It's also easy to choose from drinks, you can order lemonade, cola, beer, etc., there is ice cream. I advise you to buy an express ticket, we took it for 10 attractions, it was more than enough, otherwise you will stand in lines for 2 hours. We stood in line only for the slide from Ferrari, it took about 1 hour, but it was worth it!
Kate R — Google review
Fantastic Day Out at the Water Park We had a fab day out—our kids absolutely loved it! We chose to go on a slightly cloudy day, which worked out perfectly for our youngest (age 5), as it made the heat more bearable. As expected during peak season, the queues were long—around 60 minutes for the popular attractions—but that’s to be expected in August. The park itself was very clean and well-maintained, with plenty of facilities including toilets, lockers, and lots of food and drink options. For lunch, we spent €85 for our family of five. That included 3 junior meals (pizza, chips, pudding, and a drink) and 2 adult meals (fish & chips, and chicken & chips). Food was decent, and service was efficient. Overall, a great family day out. The kids had a blast and will definitely sleep well tonight.
Kirsty H — Google review
Amazing amusement park! Would definitely go back sometime. The best advice is to buy express pass, as the waiting time for each attraction is between 40-60 minutes. We have visited the park on 16th October and it was so so crowded
Larisa U — Google review
PortAventura is full of variety and well worth the visit — but a little planning makes the day smoother with a tip. Bring a refillable bottle, as there are fountains around the park to top up. You’ll need at least 5–6 hours to cover the rides, especially with waiting times. The Express Pass really depends on when you go — we visited on a Tuesday at the end of September and rarely waited more than 30 minutes, though some rides did creep up to 50+ minutes at peak times. A good tip is to go for rides during or just after typical lunch hours, when queues are often much shorter.
K Z — Google review
Love this theme park . One of the best actual themed parks I've been too . The rides are all amazing. Although have to say was a bit disappointed with uncharted...it could have been so much better. The AR mine train was amazing with the serpents flying over your head. Not been here for 10 years and didn't see many changes or new rides since last time. But still great and my 5 time here
Richard H — Google review
Fantastic Port Aventura World This park has incredible rides, we loved it with my son. Our favourite was Furious Baco ! It was the 1st of January this year, so was not too crowded and a FANTASTIC way for us to begin the year. We will back we loved this park!
Paul V — Google review
Great place with many joyful experiences. There are thrills for all desires. Definitely advise to visit if you like rollercoasters and other exciting experiences. Best to go there in off-season when kids are back to school to avoid long queues. If attending during holiday breaks definitely think about express pass to enjoy there rides and not standing in wait.
Aleksandrs K — Google review
Parking was 12 euros. Toilets aren't too far away from each other. Food is very expensive, 12 eur for a hotdog. Park is really big, it takes 20 minutes of walking to reach the opposite side of the park, loads of different themes which is very exciting to look at! Ferrari land has HUGE lines, highly recommend getting pass ticket for the main ride since we waited for almost 5 hours... Overall, the park is really nice and there's much to see x)

Spotify Camp Nou

Stadium
Sights & Landmarks
Arenas & Stadiums
The Spotify Camp Nou is the iconic home ground of the renowned Barcelona football club. It was inaugurated in 1957 and is known for having the greatest capacity in Europe, making it one of the largest stadiums globally. The stadium offers regular matches as well as tours and a museum, attracting football enthusiasts from around the world. Visitors can explore the locker rooms, tunnels, and field on a tour, providing an immersive experience into the team's environment.
Unfortunately, the stadium is being renovated, so you cannot see the true value of this football stadium. However, aware of the value of the stadium, its tradition, the fact that it is one of the most beautiful and largest stadiums in the world, it receives 5 stars. I will definitely come back once the stadium is finished to enjoy its beauty, but also to watch the Barcelona game :)
Sveto R — Google review
Our accommodation was only a 15-minute walk from Camp Nou, so even though it wasn’t part of our original plan, we decided to visit. Unfortunately, our travel dates didn’t match any match days, but it was still worth walking around the stadium, and especially visiting the official Barça merchandise store. Some people say there’s no need to come all the way here because the Barça stores in central Barcelona are cheaper and easier to access. But I disagree. This place is HUGE. A three-story building with practically everything you could imagine. You can find classic replica kits like the 94–95 away jersey, as well as Nike Dri-FIT official sponsor versions. There’s a wide variety of caps, bags, and other accessories too. The staff were all very friendly. You can even see Messi’s autographed jersey and captain’s armband. If you want, you can buy the replicas, just for €2,999.99 and €1,999.99 respectively. There’s also a café and a nice rest area, so if you’re visiting Barcelona and a football fan, I highly recommend stopping by this legendary place. + You can find drinks with Barça packaging for more generous price at supermarkets in the city center.
이KyeongEun — Google review
When I went it was under construction so I didn't get the full experience. If you would like to go just make sure if these works are done or not yet. Actually the stadium is not that astonishing but if you are a Barcelona fan then obviously you'll get in love with 😅
Mo. B — Google review
Very nice experience. The interactive museum is well made, got to see many iconic items on display. Thought not very big still a nice tour especially if you like the FC Barcelona team. I highly recommend you book your tickets before arriving. Also, better to book an early time visit as the line and waiting time tend to get longer.
Fadi H — Google review
It was a good experience visiting the stadium and the museum, however since the stadium is under construction at the moment it wasn't possible to feel the right energy. Once everything is completed i believe that i will give it 5 stars!
Kire S — Google review
I’ve seen some complaints, but honestly -the stadium’s under renovation, not a secret! What did you expect, a VIP tour of cranes and concrete? The real magic is the feeling of Barça itself , the history, trophies, jerseys, and spirit. The interactive legends show gave me chills, and Messi’s iconic celebration against Madrid next to his golden shoes nearly broke my heart . Paid under €100 for two tickets Worth every cent. Can’t wait for the reopening! Visca el Barça!
Haidar A — Google review
Nou Camp, is a stadium in Barcelona and the home of La Liga club FC Barcelona since its opening in 1957. It is currently undergoing renovation, and with a planned increased seating capacity of 105,000[10] it will be the largest stadium in terms of seating capacity in Spain and Europe, and the third largest association football stadium in the world.
Dr.Mohammad A — Google review
Was under construction, but still amazing, the trophy museum is a must too. Couldn’t go inside the stadium but there’s a construction viewpoint where you can see it from the outside but closer up. If visiting the stadium itself, get tickets of course, but for the trophy museum, you can purchase when you reach.

Casa Batlló

Mentioned on

Historical landmark
Museums
Casa Batlló, a museum in Barcelona, is an extraordinary apartment block designed by architect Antoni Gaudi. The building's facade is adorned with shards of stained glass that create a mesmerizing effect, resembling the ever-changing colors of a lake. Commissioned by textile industrialist Josep Batllo, Gaudi was tasked with creating a unique home that paid homage to Catalonian patron saint Jordi.
A mesmerizing masterpiece! The façade is stunning, but the interior experience is what truly brings Gaudí’s imagination to life. The audio guide is engaging, the colors and curves feel otherworldly, and the rooftop is unforgettable. Even if you’ve seen photos before, nothing compares to seeing it in person. A must-visit in Barcelona!
Fatih K — Google review
Well-made audio guide and efficient organization at the entrance. The house is wonderful, allowing you to fully discover Gaudí’s art. The ticket is a bit expensive (€36 for the Silver route). By choosing the Silver ticket, you also get access to the terrace with its colorful chimneys. Overall, a positive visiting experience.
Sarah — Google review
I went there twice already, once by day and the other time by night and the magic just never ends. Gaudi must have had a lot of fun designing this mysterious world into a house and it amazes me how he managed to make it possible. By night, the windows and sea life details create this enchanting atmosphere throughout the visit. I cannot recommend this architectural gem enough!!
Eugénie N — Google review
From the moment you arrive, the building’s facade grabs your attention – a surreal mix of bone-like balconies, mosaic tiles, and a dragon-scale roof that looks like it belongs in a fairytale. Inside, the experience becomes even more immersive. The flowing lines, natural light wells, and attention to detail in every corner show Gaudí’s genius not just as an architect, but as an artist deeply connected to nature. The audio-guided tour is excellent, enhanced with augmented reality features that help you imagine what the rooms would have looked like when the Batlló family lived there. Don’t miss the rooftop terrace – it offers beautiful views of the city and features the famous dragon-back design that symbolizes the legend of Saint George. Tips: Book your tickets in advance – it can get crowded, especially in high season. Go for the “Be the First” or “Magic Nights” experience if you're looking for a more intimate or romantic visit. Take your time. Every room and hallway hides some small detail you’ll regret rushing past. Whether you're an architecture lover, an art enthusiast, or simply curious, Casa Batlló is a must-see. It’s not just a building – it’s an experience.
Van N — Google review
Casa Batlló absolutely blew me away — it feels like stepping into a living, breathing piece of art. Gaudí’s imagination is on full display, from the flowing, nature-inspired interiors to the colorful mosaic façade that changes with the light. The rooftop, shaped like a dragon’s spine, is just unforgettable. It’s one of those places where every detail surprises you — truly magical.
Amel P — Google review
This house cannot be properly understood without going in. During the night I find it even more magical as you can really see how light plays a most important part in it's architecture. I was awed and actually didn't even want to go at first, but all the details took my breath away. The style is different inside and outside, so even if you're not a fan of Gaudi, give yourself a chance to go in. It is 100% worth it. And there's 100% accessibility! Elevators on request but to all floors.

Visiting Casa Batlló was one of the highlights of my trip to Barcelona. Here you can see Gaudí’s creativity up close- the flowing shapes, colorful mosaics, his vision and talent in every detail. The house was redesigned by Antoni Gaudí in the early 1900s for the Batlló family and is a perfect example of Catalan modernism. Every detail — from the wavy staircases to the vibrant tiles — is inspired by nature. The rooftop, shaped like a dragon’s back, offers great views over Passeig de Gràcia. I booked tickets online (around €30–€35) and still waited about 20–30 minutes to get in, so I’d definitely recommend buying skip-the-line tickets or going early in the morning. Inside, the audio guide is fantastic and really helps you understand Gaudí’s vision and his use of light and ventilation in every room. It’s busy, but completely worth it. I am not big fan of this type of art or architecture however it was an unforgettable experience.
Przemyslaw K — Google review
Casa Batlló is a true testament to Antoni Gaudí's genius and creativity, showcasing his ability to blend architecture with nature and art. Located in the heart of Barcelona, this modernist masterpiece stands out with its vibrant colors, organic shapes, and intricate details that draw visitors in from the moment they arrive. One of the most striking features of Casa Batlló is its façade, adorned with a mosaic of colorful tiles that resemble the scales of a dragon, a nod to the legend of Saint George. The undulating lines and whimsical shapes give the building a fluidity that feels alive, embodying Gaudí’s philosophy of design inspired by natural forms. The balconies, resembling masks, add a playful character to the exterior, inviting admiration from passersby. Inside, the experience only gets better. The open spaces and natural light create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Gaudí’s attention to detail is evident in the custom furniture, stained glass windows, and the unique layout that encourages movement and exploration. The central atrium, with its blue gradient tiles, mimics the colors of the sea and sky, further connecting the interior with the natural world. Visiting Casa Batlló is not just about observing architecture; it’s about experiencing a piece of art that tells a story. Gaudí’s innovative use of materials and structural techniques pushes the boundaries of conventional design, making Casa Batlló a must-see for anyone interested in architecture, art, or culture. It’s a celebration of creativity that continues to inspire and captivate all who enter.

Basílica de la Sagrada Família

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The Basílica de la Sagrada Família, located in the Example district of Barcelona, is a renowned unfinished church designed by Antoni Gaudí. Construction began in 1882 and has continued for over a century after Gaudí's death. The basilica features impressive facades representing the glory, the Birth, and the Passion of Jesus. It boasts 8 imposing towers with panoramic city views from elevators on each facade.
The Sagrada Familia is truly a masterpiece. It's a unique and must-see structure. Construction is still underway, and it's expected to be completed around 2026. New details are being added every day, and I'm amazed every time I see this monument. We paid 26 euros per person to enter. It costs 26 euros for those under 30, and 30 euros for those 30 and over. I recommend purchasing tickets from the Sagrada Familia official website before arriving. There are some scam sites, so you should choose the official website. There's a long line to buy tickets, but if you have your tickets online, simply scan the QR code when the time comes to enter. Also, a little tip: the souvenir shops right in front are expensive; if you go downstairs, you can buy some beautiful magnets for 1 euro. The entrance is accessible for disabled individuals and strollers. The tour takes almost an hour and a half..

Visiting the Sagrada Família was honestly one of the highlights of my trip. You see photos everywhere, but nothing compares to standing in front of it and realizing how enormous and detailed it really is. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, construction started in 1882 and it’s still not finished but it's coming to an end. There’s something amazing about seeing a building that’s been growing for more than a century and continues to evolve with each generation continuing Gaudi's vision. Every part of it tells a story: the Nativity Façade is full of life and nature, while the Passion Façade is dramatic and emotional. Inside, the light through the stained-glass windows looks magical — it changes color throughout the day and fills the space with warmth, peace and wonderful colours. Even with all the crowds, the atmosphere is calm and awe-inspiring. It really feels like a place where art, faith, and nature come together. It's one of the most beautiful landmarks on the world. Book tickets online in advance and go early in the morning if you want to avoid long lines. And if you can, climb one of the towers — the view over Barcelona is unforgettable.

The Basilica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona is one of the most extraordinary architectural masterpieces in the world. Designed by Antoni Gaudí, it perfectly combines faith, art, and innovation. The intricate details of the façade, inspired by nature and biblical stories, are breathtaking, while the interior feels almost otherworldly, filled with colorful light streaming through the stained-glass windows. The atmosphere inside is both peaceful and awe-inspiring. Although the basilica is still under construction, this adds a unique charm, witnessing a living piece of history being completed. Visiting the Sagrada Família is an unforgettable experience and an absolute must-see in Barcelona.

The Sagrada Familia is incredible. We did a guided tour which was great for a couple reasons. One, we got to walk pass the line with our guide which saved us time. Also, our guide was able to give us so many details about the structure we wouldn't have noticed otherwise. We went during the Golden Hour, which is when the sun is setting and the light shines through the stain glass, creating a Golden light. The details in the structure from the outside to the inside is spectacular. Highly recommend getting tickets way in advance so you don't miss out on the Sagrada Familia.

We had a guided tour. We don't normally do this but in this case it was necessary. The guide was informative amusing and personable. As for the Sagrada Familia itself, quite simply WOW! It was everything we had been told and so much more. The explanations of Gaudi's reasoning for the various aspects of the design brought the whole building into focus. It is truly an experience. The company we used was The Tour Guy. If all their guides are as good as ours you cannot go wrong. It may seem costly but IMHO it's worth it.

When in Barcelona, you have to visit the masterpiece of Gaudí. Book your tickets in advance and also get a guided tour. It will be a tour of around two hrs and your guide will explain about each and everything. This place is not just a church it’s a masterpiece of human kind. This place is an experience that you must do. I will recommend to visit either early in morning at the time of sunrise or in evening around 4pm at sunset. You will experience the place at its best and you will able to see the importance of time and light in the church. It’s the best architecture i have ever seen. Must book your tickets at-least 20 days in advance and also choose the tower access for the best views in city.

The Basilica of the Sagrada Família is truly one of the most awe-inspiring sites in the world and should be on your must-see list in Barcelona. No photos can capture the feeling of standing inside and seeing the light pour through the stained-glass windows—it’s breathtaking. The blend of color, geometry, and symbolism in Gaudí’s design is unlike anything else. Every column and carving feels purposeful, telling a story that connects nature, faith, and art. We booked a guided tour in advance, which made entry smooth and stress-free. The tours have a dedicated line making clearing security and entering the Basilica easy and highly recommended for the information provided by the guides making the experience more memorable. Allow at least 60-90 minutes to fully take it in, and don’t rush. Whether you’re religious or not, this is a place that inspires reflection and wonder. You are welcome to sit and reflect in one of the pews or simply rest your feet. You can buy tickets to view Barcelona from the top or visit the basement for more history and the gift shop. Unlike any church or basilica you will see.

Magnificent structure! I have visited Barcelona three times, and during my second visit, I had the chance to explore the interior as well. Both the inside and outside are truly unique. It’s an amazing experience to examine the figures on the exterior one by one. The ticket includes an audio guide, and by downloading the Sagrada Familia app to your phone, you can access a step-by-step audio guide that explains both the exterior and interior of the building. By the way, I recommend purchasing your ticket a week or two before your trip.

Park Güell is a must-visit destination in Barcelona, showcasing the genius of architect Antoni Gaudi. This verdant park features mosaic-covered buildings, grand staircases, and sculptures that are truly captivating. The park offers panoramic views of Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea. One of its most famous attractions is the colorful mosaic salamander, a popular spot for visitors to take selfies.
Park Güell is truly one of the highlights of Barcelona and an absolute must-see! The moment you enter, you’re surrounded by Gaudí’s magical designs colorful mosaics, flowing shapes, playful architecture, and spaces that feel like they belong in a fairytale. The panoramic views of the city and the sea are breathtaking and perfect for photos. It’s a place where nature, creativity, and architecture blend beautifully. The park is large enough to wander, relax, and enjoy the scenery at your own pace, yet every corner has something unique to admire. The Monumental Zone, mosaic benches, and the famous lizard sculpture are definite standouts. The atmosphere is peaceful, inspiring, and full of charm. Tickets are timed, so booking ahead is smart and you should be there as early as you can, because it gets crowded quickly and the morning light makes everything even more beautiful. Comfortable shoes are also helpful due to hills and walking paths. Overall, Park Güell is a wonderful experience vibrant, artistic, and unforgettable. If you’re visiting Barcelona, don’t miss it!

The buildings are great, but you can see them from the street, from the main entrance, so it's not worth buying a ticket. It's true that the park has other beautiful places than the well known Gaudi's buildings, but we wanted to visit it for this only reason and we left disappointed
Larisa U — Google review
If Gaudi knew his masterpieces would be turned into a tourist trap THIRSTING for money, he would be disgusted. I bought the tickets. Had an accident, couldn't attend exactly at the time that I had scheduled the tickets. They couldn't do anything. Not even get me a discount. Come on, do better. Ok, bought new tickets. The park is interesting, Gaudi never misses. Is it worth it paying 18 euros? Of course not. Stand outside the gates and you will see 95% of everything worth seeing. The workers are unprepared. There are so many nice things to see in Barcelona, if you don't have a lot of time, don't bother coming here.
Breno M — Google review
Nice place to go for a walk, because in the city there is not much of a green areas around. But be aware that there is a lot of stairs in the park. So if you are coming with a stroller, that could be a challenge for you. Also be ready for a lot of people. It was difficult to find a quiet spot around the park. You can see nice architecture and if you are lucky you can find a spot on the sun and just relax for a bit.
Tereza K — Google review
Make sure to buy your tickets online beforehand or you likely won’t get in. Entrance fee is a little steep for what it is but nevertheless, still a great Gaudi experience. The place gets overly crowded so that definitely takes away from the overall experience.
Jinbon L — Google review
We found the place amazingly innovating and also harmonically beautiful. Gaudi created a wonderous living space, full of hidden spots, making the journey delightful. I recommend booking a tour guide, as this adds to the whole experiance!

Was a very interesting place to walk around to see Gaudí genius at work. However, it can’t match up with his other masterpiece, Sagrada Família. Nothing much does. Not even close ! In my opinion but worth a walk through but beware it’s 18 Eyries each overall around and some of the inside park attractions are extra. I added some pics of the more popular spots in this park. Enjoy ! Nov 2025

The unique architecture, colorful mosaics, and beautiful natural surroundings makes the whole experience unforgettable. The views of Barcelona from the park are stunning,l! Honestly, every corner of the park feels magical. The park perfectly captures Gaudí’s creativity and charm. I visited the park with a walking tour, which was amazing and worth every penny!

Sights & Landmarks
Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, located in Catalonia, is a renowned monastery established in 1025 to honor the visions of the Virgin Mary by local shepherds. The complex includes a basilica, monastery buildings, and tourist facilities. It is famous for the image of the Virgin of Montserrat and attracts pilgrims from around the world. The abbey also houses the boy's choir Escolania de Montserrat and its music school, which is the oldest in Europe.
If you happen to visit Spain, especially Barcelona, along with all the city's historical and architectural attractions, be sure to plan time for Montserrat. The Black Madonna is magnificent. The history, atmosphere, and mountain scenery are captivating. You can easily choose the most convenient transportation to the monastery. I highly recommend visiting.

Beatiful views, nice walking trails, The basilica and Black Madonna are a must when you visit here, you can take the funicular up the mountain from the visitor center. The outside parking is a bit of a walk and costs 7 euros. You can also park under the basilica for 10 euros for the first 3 hours or for 14 euroa for over 3 hours and up to 24 hours. Convenient for those who have trouble walking or finding parking outside.

Beautiful place. Nestled 1500m above Cataluña in the mountains. Makes you wonder, given its location, who could manage to complete such magnificent structures! I was a little late in the day so only ventured half way up to where the Basílica and the shrine is located. You can feel the history/essence in the air as you sit quietly taking in your surroundings. Also, here is where the Virgin Of Montserrat is located. After passing the patron saint of Cataluña, you can choose to veer off and enter a stained glass, oval shaped prayer room. DON'T skip out....well worth taking a seat and just reflecting for a couple of minutes. Family friendly. Lots of outdoor space. The views, well you just have to see for yourself!

Magnifcent monument. Must see. I recomend train from Barça and cable car. You can buy combined ticket. Easy. Tickets for Basilica and other are available on spot without waiting. At 13.00 hrs every working day there is a short concert from Boys choir. Must se and listen. It's beautifull. Like Walking on clouds. After you must touch the Earth in Black Madona right hand. At last I recenzent visita a wiewpoint at St. Mathew's cross. On spot can be chilly. This is the place that I'll deffinetly visit again.

We went here on a tour and I was so happy we did. I loved it that the vendors as you approach the monastery are descendants of those who sold the same cheeses and products decades if not eons ago. The Black Madonna was an inspiring experience and we really enjoyed the art museum as well. I have never seen it even referenced but it was amazing.

This is a must-do day trip! We booked a small group tour via Viator. Our guide, a local, took us by train to Montserrat station, where we then took a cable car to the summit of the mountain. She gave us a great tour. We saw and were able to touch the black Madonna. We hiked to the St. Michael cross and were blown away by the views!

Platja de Lloret de Mar is a beautiful and popular beach with a large bay. The sandy shore can be busy, and the water has surprisingly large waves that deepen quickly. There's a steep drop-off from the beach to the sea, making it less suitable for small children. However, there are calmer areas near Castel d'en Plaja and in the evenings.
Very nice sandy beach. Its quite deep but overall very clean. You can bring your own umbrella for a beach day and also you can go for a walk in the afternoon. Id recommend.
Keti S — Google review
In March the water looks so clean! The view is absolutely beautiful. The bad thing is that there is a lot of trash in beach it would be nice to clean it up.
Adrian R — Google review
Nice beach looks like sand but is made up of small little rocks. Be careful with children. The sea becomes deep after a few meters, and waves are strong. Don't hire the rip-off sunloungers there €8 each plus €8 for umbrella! Bring a towel/blanket instead. Beach gets very busy on sunny days. There are some free public toilets, but be ready to see some dirty supprises in them like I did! 🤮
Tony H — Google review
Great Beach This is beach is quite narrow compared to other beaches in Spain but it is very long. This is also packed in summer almost unbearable, but in winter (and the off season) is amazing and really nice. It has all the amenities you could expect and is super close to lots of bars and restaurants.
Paul V — Google review
Beautiful beach! Lots of cute fishies to see under the water. The water is nice and very clear, but in some areas it’s a bit murky and polluted. Every morning (very early) a huge machine goes around the beach to clean everything. Every now and then I spotted a jellyfish, but no dangerous ones. Beware! There are currently no showers at the beach, if you want to clean yourself, you can bring a cup and some water from the tab near the toilets. The beach is made out of small rocks, which is fine, but it can get quite hot in the sun. (Ps. Using wedge heels or shoes with thick soles is great to avoid the rocks) near the beach there are small kiosk shaped buildings who sell great slush or ice cream. The beach is quite busy, near the castle it’s a bit more calm. On the completely other side there is a spot with very low water (last video), which is great for kids!

A family trip with children. Beautiful beach. Accommodation and food can be expensive in high season. But clean water and clean beach. Felt very safe there. Water world is 15 minutes away if anyone fancies. Will travel there again.

Brilliant sandy beach But be careful if going for a swim as it gets really deep so close to shore Usually less crowded on the left and right hand side Arrive early to get best spot especially on a weekend

This beach is very Nice and peaceful for family or friends . There are sun loungers and parasols available for rent on-site for 8€ each. The water is clear, and there is parking available, but it fills up quickly, so it's better to arrive early to find a spot. I highly recommend it

The Dalí Theatre and Museum in Figueres is a must-visit 19th-century theatre that houses an elaborate museum featuring the artworks of Salvador Dalí. The museum is part art gallery, part museum, and mausoleum, offering a dream-like journey through 20th-century European Dadaism.
Transported! What a wonderful journey through this gallery. I booked my ticket through the website, but you can also buy tickets there - but I would book an allotted time ahead as it is very popular. You can only go in at your slotted time. No early entry - to be fair it’s good because you can appreciate the building and Dali’s works without it too crowded. From early work to photos of the build of the gallery, to some of iconic Dali’s masterpieces.. brilliant. Figuers is lovely to wander around, have a coffee, sit, eat lunch..Dali is everywhere.

If you're interested in surrealism, a visit to the Dalí Museum in Figueres is a must. I've been there before, ages ago. But I enjoyed it this time even more. I guess there is no doubt about the greatness of Dalí's extraordinary and astonishing work. We ordered the tickets online before. It's recommended. We parked right at the Museum in a parking garage (payed 3,30 € per hour). My son is disabled so he didn't had to pay the entry fee. We booked it in advance and it was no problem with a german severely disabled certificate at the entrance of the museum. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Will visit again next time I will be in Catalonia.

Fantastic place! Got a fast pass skip the line ticket and got in right away, definitely recommend doing this, as even in off season it was suuuuper busy. The art and architecture is amazing. Lots of different rooms and areas to view and take in all the imagery. There are a few spaces to sit down, but could do with some more chairs around though, especially at it takes a few hours to really take everything in and visit all the rooms. In terms of accessibility, best to check with the venue itself to ensure it’s suitable for you. Some ramps are very steep and stairs are quite spiralling. Not sure how many tour groups are allowed in at each time slot but there were so many at the time I went and they rush and push through quickly through the narrow hallways, so be aware of this as well. Really fun day, nice walk through town to get there and lots of places to grab a drink, snack or coffee before or after your visit.
Emma B — Google review
Paintings, drawings and ’flat’ art very good, sculptures and other works less interesting to me. Entry tickets are timed so buy when you arrive then join the line. There is no signage to give a structured tour of the museum, so you have to wander around and make sure you don’t miss anything. Too crowded, people always in front of you, pushing phones in front of you and snapping away, or standing posing. In those situations it’s hard to take in and appreciate what you’re seeing.

This museum takes you on a trip- a wonderful exploration into Dalís world and life. It's a very special place, created with so much heart and soul. Something everybody should experience. We've been there on a sunday in october, without reservations and got tickets without waiting. The rooms and floors inside are a bit smaller, so it was a little busy, but nevertheless, it was enough space to enjoy everything. There's a lot to discover, and watching every painting and installation closely you could easily spend the whole day there. But you can also see everything in about 1 or 2 hours. An unforgettable experience. Gaudeix :)

Local history museum
The Salvador Dalí House Museum, located in Port Lligat, Catalonia, was the residence of the famous surrealist artist from 1930 to 1982. The museum offers pre-booked tours that allow visitors to explore Dalí's eccentric house and studio filled with personal artifacts and artworks. The stunning seaside complex overlooks a peaceful cove and features a mishmash of cottages, sunny terraces, and offbeat furnishings.
Cool experience! Be sure to book tickets well in advance during the tourist season (July-August) because they can be booked out a week or two. A ticket gives you a timed-entry to Dali’s beautiful, funky, artistic, and historic home and olive grove garden just outside of Cadaques, about 20-30 minutes walking from the center of town, along a beautiful route that does include a very steep hill. You’ll get a ~30 minute tour of the inside of the house, which is exactly as Dali left it (for reasons you will have to find out). Also, the pool is shaped in an interesting way… prepare to be confused, amazed, and intrigued 🙂

Visited without booking and we could not get tickets to enter house as it was fully booked so recommend booking before going. We visited the gardens though, ticket 6 euro and well worth a visit as it has a lot of Dali's touches. Also bar and beach for a beer, coffee and stroll amongst the boats.

I bought our tickets about two months in advance so we were ready. What we were not ready for was how cool the house was!! We had a friendly guide where took us through and spoke English and French to the rest. I loved that they had lockers free of charge available for larger bags. Also the Caffe by the entrance has a cute balcony on the top floor and tables outside. It was uplifting to soak up the local atmosphere.

100,000% worth the visit! Buy tickets in advance as tour groups are kept to 10 people at a time. Excellent museum with guides who know their material. It was a highlight experience to walk into the Secret Room where Dalí had his parties and where you can hear an echo of your voice. Loved touring the large olive orchards and seeing how Dalí lived and worked. Save time to watch the video at the top of the orchard. We stayed in Cadaques and loved our time there, if driving in give yourself plenty of time to arrive and navigate the mountain roads and take in the views. Would absolutely love to return to this wonderful place.

Ok, first I will answer to all 1⭐️: buy your tickets in advance and be on time. Museum is an old theatre restored and some corridors are just to narrow to accommodate more people. About museum: after seeing lots of museums all over the world, not even Dali fan, I have to say- you have to visit it.
Sanja P — Google review
Well, I will say that the staff here is super friendly and helpful. We had a little ticket slip-up and they really came through and helped us out. The tour guide was good too. But wow, Dali's house is the most ugly and unimpressive thing I've ever seen. His artistic nature didn't really translate into the property as much as I'd expected, and to be honest it's mostly just a lot of... trash. And bad taxidermy. The garden is nice, for the trees and plants. And the wife's dome room is interesting. So, there's that. Anyway, don't feel bad if you miss this on your trip 😅

Cité de Carcassonne is a historic citadel with a rich history dating back to Gallo-Roman times. This UNESCO World Heritage site is renowned for its impressive double outer walls stretching over 3 kilometers and adorned with 52 defensive towers. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes from the inner ramparts.
Very beautiful Medieval Castle with very charming narrow roads. Highly recommend the guided audio tour which is super convenient to navigate as it starts automatically every time you enter a new area. Once you walk the ramparts I recommend to walk also the full round back to the main castle it is worth it.

An absolute highlight. The castle town is like in every childrenbook. Wouldn't be surprised, if a dragon arrives🙂. It is really like in a tale. All the towers with the roofs and the big large walls. A walk along the wall is more than 3km and take about 1 hour. Its included in the castle entrance. The cite can be freely visited all time. The castle is separate and has normal ooening hours. Entrance is 19€. But its worth it. You get a lot infos on boards with drawings about defense systems and reconstruction of the site. The cite is full of shops, bars and restaurants. An cathedral can also be visited. I recommand 2 visits. One fir castle and wall. Other in the evening for diner.

This is an amazing place to visit, lots to see. I would encourage anyone going to visit the castle and get the audio guide. So much information to listen to, both in the castle and and as you walk the walls. It really explains the history and development of the place. There's far less info on the few signs dotted about. Lots of places to eat and buy souveineers in the city and so many things to photograph.

As we we crossed the lovely old bridge from the lower town, we got our first glimpse of the walls of the medieval city, the walk up is quite enjoyable, passing a streets full of eateries enticing passer-by's with the local favourite.........., it is easy to spend a whole day within the walls, starting with a guided tower, visiting the basilica and learning all about the the history with enjoyable stories, next is the not missed, walking the walls/ramparts, a visit to the Medieval camp, is fun, just not for the kids, there are many restaurants, however our go to is the cite boulangerie, the bread is divine and there are many treated to be tempted with to finish the day, just walking the cobblestone streets, watching the kids with there sword and shield, wearing a helmet walking the streets sourced from the many souvenir shops. all in all a wonderful experience.

A really cool place to visit in the fall when the tourists are gone. I walked around at my leisure then took the Privilege tour which takes us in basements and other restricted areas to learn more about the history of the place. It was worth it. The only mild disappointment was the restaurants. I nearly cried when I realized that I can make a better cassoulet than what I had been served. I love cassoulet and was hoping to have an out of body experience in the birthplace of this dish. It was ok but not mind-blowing... If you like jogging, there's a nice trail around the walls where I enjoyed gorgeous views. In shoer, great place to visit but eat in town if you want to experience gastronomy.

The best medieval city ever. It's a must place to visit. You'll not be disappointed. Worth the entrance fee into the castle. There's plenty of parking too

Absolutely stunning. Loved our visit here. Paying the extra €13 to walk the remparts/walls is absolutely worthwhile. One of the best places that I've ever been to.
Craig M — Google review
Wonderful"village" inside the walls, free to enter, not too busy and very historic, full of food outlets, and seemed to be reasonably priced. Beware if cycling up and leaving bikes outside, we parked and there was a cut lock on the cycle stand, when we came back another couple returned and they had had their bikes stolen, seemingly a few minutes before we arrived, so ensure you have a very secure lock.

Sainte-Cecile Cathedral of Albi

Sights & Landmarks
The Sainte-Cecile Cathedral of Albi is a stunning Gothic cathedral dating back to the 13th century, featuring a towering 78-meter-high bell tower and housing remarkable frescoes and painted chapels. Situated on the picturesque banks of the river Tarn in southern France, Albi boasts a rich architectural heritage characterized by the distinctive Languedoc style, with its prominent use of red brick and tiles.
Absolutely gorgeous inside and being built of bricks it’s beautiful and so different outside. Well worth a visit which is free for most areas with a small fee to see the vaults. The ceilings and frescoes are a sight to behold
Marie P — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the southern French gothic style I have ever visited. The outside is very imposing but the inside is crammed with beautiful artwork. It’s said that it is the largest building constructed out of bricks. Close to the building is a beautiful garden and the Toulouse-Lautrec museum.
Alex W — Google review
What can you say about this most imposing yet beautiful of cathedrals? The plain Tolosian pink brick exterior - built as a fortress to intimidate the Cathar supporters - belies the intricate beauty inside where every surface is decorated to a point that you have to just sit down to try and take it all in. And that is what you can do - it is free to enter the eastern half of the cathedral. The western half - similarly decorated but less busy, and one for the fans of impressive sculptures of the time, is a small fee, and also contains the treasures on an upper floor. Not necessary to enjoy the cathedral, but if you like completeness. The choir is stunning though, and reminiscent of York Minster, but taken up a notch. The only hint of this on the outside is the main entrance, whose portico feels like a mini cathedral in itself. If Notre Dame had fallen down before Victor Hugo built it up again, then Quasimodo would have felt very at home here, at least the Disney version anyway… Finally, we have to mention the organ - one of the biggest in France and uniquely decorated with the queues for Heaven and Hell. Very Dutch in form, and something to marvel at. I’m a big fan of European cathedrals, and Albi is in my top three. Not to be missed, if you are at least within 100km of it. The authentic winding streets and high views over the river as you make your way there add to the visual drama.

Truly magnificent and spectacular church with incredible art and massive fort like structure on the outside that bellies the intricate details artful details on the inside. I didn't pay to see the other half of it but didn't think it was necessary to get a great experience. Must visit if you are around Toulouse.

Free entry to the impressive Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, the largest brick cathedral in the world, has the feel of a fortress. • 113m long, 35m wide and 30m under the vault •  a 78m high bell tower completed in 1480. • 1282/1493: it took 200 years to build It is also the largest fully painted cathedral in Europe, with 18,500 m² of frescoes and decorations.

The almost complete painting of this large Gothic building is unique, magnificent, and impressive. A must-see, and not just for art historians. And very easy to visit: there's a large parking lot below the hill, and admission is free. Sit in the choir stalls and stay for a while.

Museums
Pont du Gard is a magnificent aqueduct bridge constructed by the Romans in the 1st century. It spans over three well-preserved arched tiers and stands as an impressive engineering marvel of the ancient world. Situated near Vers-Pont-du-Gard in southern France, this architectural wonder was built to supply water from distant springs to the city of Nimes, known as Nemausus in ancient times.
So great we went twice! Once to see the bridge and another to have a picnic by the water and take a quick bath. You don’t have to pay unless you wanted a guided tour. Just pay for the parking. Very nice place to visit in family.

Roman aqueduct, crossing the Gard river. Spectacular and within a beautiful natural setting. Possibility to cross the bridge and enjoy beaches and several points of view. Plenty of easy trecks around the monument.
Barefoot C — Google review
Our visit to the Pont du Gard on October 8 was absolutely unforgettable. I went there with my friends and together we walked the peaceful paths leading down to the river, surrounded by the golden warmth of the southern French autumn. Before we even reached the bridge, we stumbled upon several strawberry trees— not real strawberries, but Arbutus unedo, also called the strawberry tree. Their fruit looked almost too bright to be real — tiny red, textured berries with a surprisingly sweet and tangy flavor. They turned out to be a wonderful surprise ,something unique and truly delicious. Then, turning a corner, the magnificent Roman aqueduct unfolded before us. The Pont du Gard rises from the landscape like a vision — three tiers of stone arches reflecting perfectly in the clear waters of the Gardon River.Nearly 2,000 years old, it served as part of an aqueduct that once carried water to ancient Nîmes. Even today, it feels alive with history — a triumph of precision and beauty. We spent the afternoon walking along the riverbank, taking in the symmetry, the soft rustle of leaves, and the warmth of the sun against the limestone. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause and breathe, reminding you how enduring human creation can be when shaped with purpose. In short:A day filled with history, nature, and quiet wonder — shared with good company and bright red strawberry tree fruit as an unexpected delight. Must-see rating:🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Visited:October 8 Highlights:Ancient Roman engineering, peaceful riverside walks, and the discovery of the strawberry tree fruit — sweet, wild, and unforgettable.

So much grander than I expected! An incredible feat of engineering from a time before electricity, gas, or diesel power! Thisbis monument to time, craftsmanship and ingenuity. Leave it to the Roman's to leave me impressed. A MUST SEE destination in France.
Latham W — Google review
The Pont du Gard is a towering three-tiered aqueduct bridge built by the Romans in the 1st century AD. Interesting facts we found out about the bridge: • It was built without mortar: the roughly 50,400 tonnes of limestone were cut and fitted so precisely that the blocks hold by gravity and friction alone. • The aqueduct channel that the bridge is part of drops only about 12.6 m over 50 km (~1 in 4,000 gradient) — extremely slight for such a long distance. • Many stonemasons left their marks on the stones: more than 320 “compagnon” marks have been found on the monument, some from as early as 1611. • Over its history the bridge served various roles: after its time as a water aqueduct it became a toll bridge, and later, in the 18th century, a road bridge was built alongside it. • It survived major floods in modern times (1958, 1998 and 2002) which tested its structure — impressive given its age. Getting there & timing: • Located near Vers-Pont-du-Gard in Occitanie, about 20 km from Nîmes. • The site opens around 09:00. Hours vary by season; check official site for current times. • Allow 1.5 to 3 hours, or a full day if you include walks, river time and the museum. What to do & best spots: • Walk across the lower level to appreciate the arches up close and the river beneath. • Visit the on-site museum: interactive exhibits, scale models, virtual reconstructions — good for history context. • Swim or relax by the river banks — the scenery and setting are excellent for a rest, especially in warmer months. • For photography: early morning or late afternoon gives good light through the arches and fewer crowds. Tips & practical advice: • Parking is paid and you should check whether parking closes at a certain time (especially after dark). • During high season it may be busier; consider visiting in shoulder season for a calmer experience. • Wear sturdy walking shoes if you plan any of the walking trails around the site. • If you want to access the third (top) level of the aqueduct bridge, this requires a guided tour — check availability in advance. • Bring swimwear/towel if you plan to enjoy the river; also sun protection.

It’s hard to imagine something so magnificent and strong is two thousand years old and still standing. The bridge and the surrounding parks and land provided a wonderful place to spend a lovely afternoon enjoying the sun, the outdoors, and understand more about the long history of la République.

Le Pont du Gard is an icon from days gone by from the Roman era. It’s been on my bucket list for years to see. I like it because it represents the great engineering skills that people with little technology could use to build something that will stand through the ages. The site is well setup to handle tourists coming to look at the aquaduct, and the, later built, viaduct. Tourist offices are situated on each side of the river, and one of them has a museum/exposition/cinema/gift shop/ complex. And, walking tours are conducted to the bridge. A good visit. I arrived here on a bus shuttle from Avignon. I hear there is also a shuttle from Nimes, France. Recommended for those interested in area history, architecture, and Roman life.

The Palais des Papes, once a rival to the Vatican, is an imposing structure consisting of two different parts: the severe Palais Vieux and the more decorative Palais Nouveau. The interiors are austere due to the loss of original furnishings during history, but visitors can still imagine its medieval splendor with colorful frescoes and grand halls. The palace hosts cultural events in its beautiful courtyard, showcasing performances in various languages.
Incredible integration of technology with the “iPad” tour. This is one of the coolest places I’ve ever seen and the art installation was so interesting! Honestly could have spent a whole day here but capped it at 3 hours… good idea to eat first because you can stay here for hours. GREAT for families and kids. So much to see
Jeff S — Google review
An interesting, if slightly disappointing, point of interest. The structure is amazing. A palace and fortress, it commands your attention. However, the interior is sterile. No furniture, tapestries, or frescoes. Only a couple chambers with faded wall coloration. Without the current art exhibition it would be largely colorless. The tour is also relatively short. There must be large sections not accessible to the public. The garden is neat and well cared for, but small. With all this in mind, it is still worth visiting for its historical significance and the architecture. Note: the iPad guidance is quite good. Take time to read the information boards placed throughout the tour. Get tickets in advance online for a timed entry.
Michael L — Google review
Everything is massive in this fortress and palace at the same time that was built in two stages. The Old Palace (1335–1342) built by Pope Benedict XII and the New Palace (1342–1352) Pope Clement VI, the Magnificent. It's one of the largest medieval gothic buildings in Europe. Seven successive French popes resided here between 1309 and 1377, fleeing the political turmoil and insecurity in Rome, When you enter you get a Histopad which is a handy tablet which you can use to navigate through the building. A nice feature is the historic overlay that you activate by scanning a logos in the different rooms. The overlay then shows the situation as it would be in 1352, the year of completion of the palace and the Papal Conclave and Election of Innocent VI after Pope Clement VI died. The rather dull interiors are brightend a bit by modern art. The garden is small and really not worth the extra money you hsve to pay to visit it. It took me two hours to see all the rooms and climb up to the ramparts to get a view of the surrounding area. Oh, and the taste in the 14th century is different from today. Roasted peacock anyone? And a glass of Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape ?
Seimen B — Google review
A disrespectful use of this unique historic monument, reduced to a playground for some contemporary artist. The two stars go for the historic significance of this monument and the indeed impressive structure. Unfortunately, it seemed to us that the team assigned with managing this monument was decided to cut any ties to what they must have considered to be embarrassing art from the era when the Palais was at its finest: they basically degraded the Palais des Papes to an exhibition center of contemporary artist Jean-Michel Othoniel. Fact is that none of the visitors went to “Palace of the Popes” to see some modern art exhibition. Instead of investing the money to maintain the rooms and gardens, they managed to destroy the experience. You can’t possibly feel the vibe of the place while constantly being distracted, intruded and violated by some pieces of art, which are basically in the wrong place. The tour is a bit chaotic but we got it sorted out by asking the helpful personnel. The tablets - initially I thought a good idea - turned out to be a semi-functioning annoyance (have to carry it around, too heavy to sit on the neck). I would rather enjoy the monument by “breathing it in”, look at it in awe, not keep scrolling on a tablet. Most signs with explanations were in French. If someone does not appreciate the Christian history, the religious art of that time or might even be embarrassed by all of those uncool people of that period, they probably shouldn’t be involved with managing this site. Let them run a modern art gallery: I would gladly visit it. But just as when I go to the MOMA I don’t expect it to be full of medieval religious art, when I go to the Palace of the Popes I probably don’t expect it to be full of modern art. This here is unworthy: Show some respect to the history and significance of this place and the people who created it. This is not just another playground. Please!

Fascinating collection of buildings in Avignon detailing the time of the 'Avignon Popes' in France. I found the Histopad guide wasn't particularly helpful, but the rest of the displays were great. Interesting artwork integrated throughout. The gardens were especially nice.

Very interesting. So much better than the crazy tourist traffic and the hundreds of tour groups you have to wade through to see the Sistine Chapel. Low fees, no lines, very little crowding, and amazing history. Definitely a not to miss site. We visited the palace, gardens and bridge.

Particularly impressive. The exhibition was interesting alongside the impressive building. You get a tablet with explanations in adapted language and there are explanations. The signage inside the buildings was a bit problematic and sometimes the tablet got stuck and didn't work well, but overall it was lovely.

Château de Chenonceau is a stunning 16th-century chateau that spans a river and houses an impressive collection of tapestries and Old Master paintings. Its history includes being gifted to Diane de Poitiers by Henry II, then taken over by Queen Catherine de' Medici after his death. The chateau's architecture reflects the changes in ownership and circumstances over the years, from its origins as a Medieval fortress to its transformation into an elegant residence.
This was a absolutely breathtaking castle. They have a huge history both on who built it and who stayed there. They have audio guides and live guide tours and it is not that expensive. They have various gardens around including a labyrinth in the garden which is quite big. They grow their own vegetables and a large variety of flowers that they use to decorate within the walls of the castle. Very pretty. We enjoyed the tour very much.

Simply magical place. Among all the other Chateau's quite unique because of its location. The exhibitions are nice and it is not overwhelming. The gardens and parks around are beautiful, with plenty of benches to sit down and relax. I recommend doing a quick wine tasting in the wine cellar, maybe not the most engaging or informative but still a nice experience. This place is definitely worth the trip.

Chenonceau Château is a beautiful chateau built 1513-1517 across the River Cher. It has a friendly atmosphere and elegant design. Walking around inside, you see its rich history with unique rooms like the Louis XIV drawing room, Catherine de Medici’s bedroom, and are magnificent. Spanning the river is a long impressive gallery. The kitchen would be the envy of any chef! The Medici gardens beside the chateau are tidy, peaceful, and carefully arranged with boxwood, roses, and lavender. The garden is made up of lawn panels around a circular pond, giving lovely views of the castle and its surroundings. It’s a great place to stroll and relax, making your visit even more special.

ZooParc de Beauval is a must-visit destination in the Loire Valley, offering an abundance of family fun and wildlife experiences. This renowned zoo boasts an impressive breeding program for endangered species and is home to a diverse range of animals, including big cats, pandas, primates, manatees, koalas, okapis, and tree kangaroos. Visitors can marvel at the rare giant pandas - one of only 12 places outside of China to house this species.
What an awesome place. The free assisted parking was a great start, there was no chaos. The park has plenty of shelter from the sun on hot days and wheelchair-friendly paths, and there are plenty of spots to get a drink or food. Most of the enclosures are spacious and aesthetically pleasing. There is more than enough space to stop and admire the animals from multiple angles without feeling crowded. There are so many different animals to see that we absolutely needed two days to not miss out on anything. The shows and information were (obviously) narrated in French, but the pace was slow enough for me to understand a bit. The bird show was a bit overwhelming, you should definitely not miss out on that one if you visit the park. Be sure to bring your own shade while you wait for the show to begin, as there is none. We were cooking on the concrete steps in the full sun for almost an hour in total. The cable car was a bit of a letdown. The lines were long and not all cars have a transparent floor, which makes it just a lazy way to cross the park. Even if you do get a car with a glass floor, the tracks are too high to really benefit from the bird's-eye view. Don't forget to bring your camera.

We had a wonderful family visit to the zoo! My children absolutely loved seeing the animals up close, and it was such a joy to watch their excitement. The animals all seem to be in excellent conditions, with spacious and well-maintained habitats. It’s clear that the staff take great care in providing a safe and comfortable environment for them. A perfect place for a family day out!
CHIOUKH L — Google review
This is easily one do the best zoos in the world. Whereas in many zoos you would see animals and feel sad for them given their conditions, this zoo does not make you feel this. You will see many caretakers and staff who clean enclosures, feed regularly and perfectly adapted food to the animals at regular intervals throughout the day etc. Despite going there over a hot time, the animals were still visible, yet they all had a closed enclosure in a cooler area. This zoo genuinely loves animals, and you can see it. Their two spectacles with the sea lions and the birds were really great and shows even further the care they give to all these animals. I went there on a weekday, yet there was a fair amount of people, I advise going as soon as the park opens to explore it at its finest time.

Downsides: •The entrance and food queues are very crowded, with long waits, and there aren’t many benches. (Food is not bad) •Also, if you come with a stroller or have mobility issues, be prepared for quite a bit of uphill walking. Upsides: •Beautiful place with lovely paths and lots of shade. •Even though it was crowded, parking was well organized, and the animals have large areas where they seem happy and well cared for. (The views of them from different spots are wonderful.) Overall, definitely worth a visit! ⭐️
Anna D — Google review
Very nice zoo, seems to take animal welfare very seriously. Overheard some other guests complain they 'did not see the wolves very well and the Parc should cut down the trees'. Actually glad they give each animal species what they need to feel as comfortable as possible. The zoo has plenty of small playgrounds for intermezzo's with children, there are lots of restaurants and stalls all scattered around, there's a big parking lot and queuing went very smoothly... The shops are nice but diverse. Definitely recommend!

Gorgeous, breathtaking castle. It's absolutely massive. The sheer size of the castle is impressive and so is the history. Really inform yourself about it before you visit to appreciate it more. There is a room to the left as you enter the castle thah shows informative movies about it's history and architecture. I am giving it 4 stars because even with the map it was a bit of a challenge of having a cohesive visit. We kept checking the map to make sure we didn't miss anything. I would try finding creative ways of guiding visitors better in a better flow with some creative/visible signages. The inside of the castle isn't as impressive as other castles. The outside is alot nicer.

Our Lady of Chartres Cathedral, a towering 13th-century Gothic masterpiece, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most renowned cathedrals in France. Its construction began in 1194 after an earlier cathedral was destroyed by fire. The cathedral's significance is tied to a miraculous event during the fire, which led to its intention of being one of the finest churches globally.
Absolutely beautiful inside and out and definitely worth a visit. You can spend half a day just exploring the cathedral itself but if you get tired, the restaurants just outside are also excellent and reasonably priced too. I can also highly recommend staying until after dark for the free Chartres Illuninaire show which projects a light and sounds show on various buildings throughout the town, including the cathedral itself. Better yet, have a stay for a few days as it's a beautiful place itself.

Beautiful cathedral of Chartres. They made beautiful renovations, everything is really clear and neat. Even with clouds and no sunshine, the inside is bright enough to see through the painted glasses of the windows. They are marvelous piece of art. If you have the chance to be in the area, you should take the time to walk there and look for yourself how gigantic and stunning it is. What actually surprised me the most is how modern they are inside. They have contactless payment card machine for donation at each corner of the cathedral. So if you don't have coins like me, you can still use your card to pay to lit a candle or novena. The hours of the priest are written on a card board inside. The confessional is brightly litten and has a priest waiting inside for anyone who wants to confess theirs sins. This is unseen for me before today in France. There is also a treasury room which you have to pay to access it. Overall a great place to visit. I advise to park your car at the parking lot of Cathedral. There almost non existant place to park there.

Magnificent, historic, surrounded by lots of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops and not flooded with tourists when we visited. Chartres is an utterly beautiful city well worth a couple of days of your time. BEWARE, the cathedral is atop a hell of a climb up through steeply sloped streets.

An excellent holy place in the heart of Chartres, our lady of Chartres Cathedral is a must visit. You can visit during the day for prayer and tourism and during the night for an exquisite laser show. Enjoy...

One of the greatest High Gothic cathedrals now reinvented with its controversial very light painting of the pillars and vaulted ceilings… it grew on me as we walked round, I concluded it’s wonderful not least by setting off the magical 13th C stained glass. We love the way it feels it’s still an active place of worship, not the case in all French cathedrals.

A beautiful cathedral that easily rivals the Paris equivalent. We were lucky to visit at a time where it was illuminated at night. Very impressive. However if you're visiting the crypt, make sure you are told correctly where the tour starts, as we were given wrong instructions and therefore missed it. Staff could have been more helpful here.

Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a stunning 17th-century chateau surrounded by formal gardens, offering a remarkable blend of architecture and natural beauty. The interior is steeped in history, with well-preserved decor elements that transport visitors to the XVIII century. The audio guide provides an engaging tour, complementing the overall experience. A highlight is the impressive kitchen, adding to the chateau's allure. Visitors can also enjoy dining at the on-site restaurant and bar area.
Went with a small tour group. Sunday afternoon, Mid-September. We really enjoyed the tour. Contains automatic start audio tour (per room), worked great. Paid the extra €5 to climb the dome (great views). The audio tour walks you through the tragedy of the owner, destroys a whole village to build his palace, throws a grand new house party, pisses off the king, gets framed, thrown in jail the rest of his life!

Absolutely beautiful! With emersive headphones you can really imagine what life was like in the 1600s. We went in mid Sept and almost had the place to ourselves. Beautiful gardens. Highly recommend seeing this amazing chateau.

An absolute gem just outside Paris. Beautiful, peaceful, and exceptionally well run. The audio tour is phenomenal, engaging, easy to follow, and full of fascinating context that brings the château and its history to life. The staff are warm, professional, and clearly care about maintaining the property’s magic. It feels like a hidden gem compared to the larger, more chaotic attractions. Take your time exploring the gardens, and don’t miss the rooftop views. They are breathtaking. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a truly enjoyable and well-managed cultural experience.

We only came to walk the gardens, so I can't speak about the inside tour. We had visited so many similar places, we assumed it wouldn't offer anything new. It's a bit expensive to just walk the gardens, but we were on vacation, so....you pay. There are many better locations that offer walking in the garden for free. Consider that before visiting here.

great Christmas show in the château! we loved it! don't miss the projection show! better buy tickets in advance. the hot wine in the château is worth to try too!

I you want to realize where Versailles comes from , you have to visit the chateau of Vaux le Vicomte. It took roughly 20 years to achieve this fabulous and human size castle that inspired Louis XIV to order the construction of the chateau de Versailles. Take the audio guide to enjoy the visit to its fullest. Check the hours because it is not open year round.

A must see if you are visiting Paris! The audio tour is also a must. Each room tells a story and the audio is very entertaining. We didn’t get to see Hercules up close but I would recommend renting a golf cart because it’s a very far walk.

Nestled in the French countryside, this magestic chateau sits on a sprawling 1200 acres. Rich in history and legends. There a fantastic audio tour that is included in your 18 euros entry fee. Make sure you take advantage of it. The gardens are splendid designed and very relaxing to walk through. Golf cart rentals are available for 25 euro an hour. Don’t miss admiring the drive up to the chateau that is tree lined with gorgeous trees hundreds of years old. Absolutely beautiful.

Palace of Versailles

The Palace of Versailles, also known as Chateau de Versailles, is an immense 18th-century palace adorned with gilded apartments and the famous Hall of Mirrors. The palace's indoor spaces are intricately linked to its gardens, all designed to glorify the monarch. Construction began in 1661 and was completed by 1682, with subsequent revisions made by French monarchs over the centuries.
This palace is iconic and a must visit while visiting Paris! This palace is so grand and huge that you start to understand why the French Revolution took off while walking around. This palace is very magnificent and gorgeous. There is so much detail put into the architecture, the paintings, garden, and rooms. You should buy tickets ahead of time while coming here and plan to spend the majority of your day here. Be aware of the massive crowds, they can be really big and you may feel like a packed sardine in some of the rooms here.
Tadeusz G — Google review
We went to see Palace of Versailles as a group. The place is beautiful. The gardens are equally impressive and massive; renting a golf. We rented a golf cart, it was well worth the money to explore comfortably. We made reservations in advance, we waited around 20–30 minutes to get inside. Everything was impressive. The negative part is the crown inside. But once in the garden it was so much better.
Paul S — Google review
This was one of the most impressive places I have seen with my own eyes! I have a landscape engineering degree and the palace gardens were often referred to in books, by teachers and were always a source of inspiration. I’m really glad I got to see them in real life. My partner proposed on a boat on the canal, it was all very romantic (I said yes!). The palace interior and expositions were also quite impressive, I was in awe the whole time.
Alina L — Google review
Absolutely stunning palace with a fascinating history. Highly recommend Stephanie from Paris to versailles. We booked via Viator. She was amazing, amusing and speaks multiple languages. Also recommended getting a golf cart to see the gardens and time it to see a fountain operating. Times are on Versailles site but Stephanie organised it perfectly. The fountains do not operate during colder months due to freezing pipes. Gardens close too. See my photos for golf cart hire location. The gardens would look better in spring but that’s the joy of the first ever formal garden- stunning all year round. Take your license. The most amusing part of our visit was all of the TikTokers and Instagramers. So self indulgent and very very funny.
Megan R — Google review
The castle itself is amazing too, but this time it was the Versailles Opera. Small venue, but that makes it cozy and beautiful. The services in terms of infrastructure, such as the cloakroom and buffet, are minimal, only one of each. Not too good for the crowd; expect lines and queues. The rest is wonderful and beautiful as expected.
Zoltan B — Google review
This Palace was truely beautiful and I highly recommend. As a group of four we did the tour and saw 12 rooms out of the 2,300 and a bit of history with the tour. They were very good with safety and supportive to English. You could get the tour in several languages and the rooms were amazing. Very beautiful, only downside is its huge populatarity so it was quite overcrowded considering it's Autum/Winter here in France. Good option for a tourist. Very pretty. Merci beaucoup.

We spent about a day and a half exploring Versailles and absolutely loved it. Here are a few tips that might make your visit smoother: The Passport ticket is the best value since it gives you access to everything — the main palace, gardens, and both the Grand and Petit Trianon. I had originally bought tickets just for the Trianons, but discovered you also need Musical Gardens tickets to walk through the gardens to get there. Otherwise, you’d have to walk all the way around the perimeter and hope to find an open gate. Get an audio guide or download one on your phone since the signs are in French. The guided tours start around 9:30 a.m. — just check the language. I mistakenly booked the Private Apartments tour in French but used the Google Translate app to follow along (it worked surprisingly well, though it uses a lot of data). The tour meets in the Ministers’ Building to the right of the main entrance, up the stairs. After our tour, the audio guide line was over 30 minutes long, so get it first thing in the morning. Later in the day, around 4 p.m., the crowds thinned out and there was no line. If you have limited time, start with the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon. They’re smaller, more personal, and give you a sense of royal life away from the main palace. The Grand Trianon was the king’s retreat; the Petit Trianon, Marie Antoinette’s, is charmingly modest. It’s about a 30–45 minute walk through the gardens, or you can take the tram for a small fee. The gardens are enormous — we walked about 6 to 9 miles. You’ll see manicured trees, fountains, statues, and even a lake with boats. On certain days, the Musical Gardens feature classical music playing from hidden speakers, adding a lovely atmosphere. Bring a hat and water. There are some restaurants and a bathroom, but there can be a very long line. If possible, take a guided tour — it gives you access to areas not open to general visitors, like the King’s private study, reception rooms, and the beautiful royal chapel (where general admission visitors can only peek in from the doorway). Plan for a lot of walking and wear comfortable shoes. There are golf carts you can rent by the hour to cover more of the garden than by foot. Versailles is vast, breathtaking, and full of history — an unforgettable experience well worth taking the time to explore fully.
Claire W — Google review
The Versailles Castle is a beautiful building with stunning views but if you only have a little time in Paris this is not a must see. The inside has some stunning rooms with beautiful furniture and paintings. The view of the garden from the second floor is exceptional. The gardens and lakes are a really good choice if you’re visiting with your family. The only downside of the palace are the giant crowds in the rooms and by the toilets, so you have to be patient. The tickets were about 60€ for adults and 0€ for children (Attention! The garden is not free for children, it’s 10€)

Manneken Pis is a 17th-century fountain in Brussels featuring a small bronze statue of a boy urinating into the basin. This quirky landmark, created by Jerome Duquesnoy, has become an iconic symbol of Brussels' humor and folklore. Despite its small size (only 60 cm high), it is one of the most photographed statues in the city. The statue is known for its extensive wardrobe of over 600 outfits, with different costumes displayed during festivals and events throughout the year.
One of the interesting location of the Brussels, just minutes walking from a Grand Palace. We were there at around 2pm and it was crowded, however still possible to take descent pictures. Lot of stores and restaurants around, so it is not a problem to find a restroom if need it. Otherwise you can not spent so much time by the statues as it is quite small. The funny thing though that they dress the boy in different clothes from time to time and there is a store across of the street that shows some of the costume they use during the year :-)
Vadym — Google review
I would’ve loved to know a little more about the history of this boy! But unfortunately not much is known, even the theories are a far few… nevertheless a spot for every tourist visiting for pictures. I do see a lot of guides explaining about the statue and was curious to find out more… it’s close to the grand place and can definitely be included in the city walk.
Pavan P — Google review
It is undoubtebly a statue that you want to see when in Brussels because it's gotten so popular for some reason. I really like the idea of this little boy being a national symbol and getting dressed up in different outfits depending on current events. It somehow manages to be both impressive and underwhelming at the same time.
Oscar L — Google review
Manneken Pis is the famous statue in Brussels, depicting a young boy urinating. The statue in place right now was put there in 1965 and is surrounded by cameras and fencing due to previous theft and vandalism. I was surprised by the size of the statue when actually seeing it in person — it was tiny and a little underwhelming, and it would be so easy to just walk past it if it wasn’t for the crowds of people standing around. The statue is pretty humorous though, and is only a short walk away from Grand Place, so it’s worth checking out while in Brussels for sure, especially if you can catch it in one of the fun costumes. Unfortunately, during my trip, it was without this.
Aaron — Google review
The statue itself is quite small and, apart from its fame, may not be particularly captivating. However, the surrounding streets and area are delightful, featuring charming sweet and waffle shops. If you happen to visit at the right moment, you might even observe a local group dressing the statue.
Jiri V — Google review
Manneken Pis represents the Brussels spirit: humor, irreverence, independence, and not taking life too seriously. Locals see it as a quirky emblem of their city. There are many legends—one says the boy extinguished a burning fuse with his urine and saved the city. These stories make it a key part of local folklore. Along with Grand Place, it’s one of the most visited attractions in Brussels. It represents Belgian comic-style humor and is featured in souvenirs, festivals, and cultural events.

A must when near Grand Place. It's easy to miss and it's not that big. Walked by earlier in the day and completely missed it. These pics are at dusk/night so accessible outside of the crowds.

Grand Place is a massive city square surrounded by elegant historic buildings dating back to the 14th century. It is the heart of all activities in Brussels, featuring the Town Hall with a statue of St. Michael the Archangel and the Maison du Roi, both showcasing stunning Gothic architecture. The square hosts the breathtaking Infiorata event every even year, where it's covered with a carpet of flowers from over five hundred thousand begonia plants.
The Grand Place in Brussels is one of the most beautiful squares I’ve ever visited. The architecture is stunning, and the atmosphere feels full of history and culture. Around the square, you can see the old guildhalls, which once belonged to different trades such as brewers, butchers, and tailors — each building has its own unique design and charm. What’s even more fascinating is the history behind it. In 1695, most of the square, including the Town Hall, was heavily damaged during a bombardment. But the people of Brussels rebuilt everything with great care and detail, and that’s what makes the Grand Place so special today. It’s truly a place that combines beauty, history, and pride. I highly recommend visiting it and taking the time to learn about its amazing story.

Sooo Beautiful... that words cant express! Visited on Saturday and night time with lights on was a magical experience. All shops and restaurants were open and there was music playing. Such a lively place that was. In the morning you can see the details of building and it had its own beauty. I would recommend visiting the place both in daytime and night time.

Beautiful central plaza! Lots of ornate buildings with intricate statues and gold accents. During August when we visited there was a lot of tourists and it had a lively atmosphere. There are a couple good food options as well in the Grand Place, and all the streets branching off from it have more food options, chocolate shops, souvenirs, etc. When we went one evening the lights were flickering which was kind of fun to watch. Sometimes in the Place you’ll find some street performers and other excitement going on. It is a good central spot to orient yourself when exploring the city.

The first word that comes immediately to mind this wow! We are fortunate to stage of steps from this site. You stand in the middle and are just in awe by the beautiful architecture and the gilding of the guild buildings. It’s the center of town for a reason. Yes, it’s the seat of government, but it’s also one of the most picturesque city centers imaginable.

WOW! The Grand Place is exactly as it's name sake. And so opulent with gold ✨️ embellishments on the buildings. The perfect gathering place for food & entertainment. Atomium

Cultural landmark
The Atomium, a colossal stainless steel structure in Brussels, was the centerpiece of the 1958 Worlds Fair. It symbolizes peace, progress, and an optimistic vision of the future. The design is based on the elemental structure of iron and represents a shift towards using atomic energy for positive purposes. Initially intended as a temporary installation, it captured the hearts of Belgians and has become one of Brussels' most renowned attractions.
The Atomium is, without a doubt, one of the most stunning and unique pieces of architecture in Europe. Even getting to the site in Brussels, the massive, gleaming structure—a representation of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times—is absolutely breathtaking. For that external view alone, the trip is entirely worth it. Taking the elevator up the central axis to the top sphere is a thrilling experience, and the panoramic views from 92 meters up offer a fantastic perspective over the city and the surrounding Heysel area. However, the overall experience inside the spheres was very different from what I had anticipated. I went in expecting a straightforward science museum, perhaps a deep dive into atomic structure and the history of the 1958 World Expo it was built for. While there is a permanent exhibition dedicated to Expo 58, which is genuinely interesting for history buffs, the rest of the tour felt like a delightful, if slightly jarring, contrast. Moving between the spheres via those long, tunnel-like escalators—which are a spectacular sight themselves, illuminated with dancing colored lights—felt less like moving through a museum and more like exploring a futuristic spaceship. One sphere, in particular, was home to a completely immersive, psychedelic digital art installation. It was loud, pulsing with light, and utterly captivating, turning the space into something like a high-tech art gallery rather than a historical exhibit. In the end, I'd say the Atomium is a good visit, but be prepared for an unexpected journey. You go for the iconic, monumental architecture and stay for the strange, often trippy, contemporary art installations hidden inside. It’s a wonderful landmark, just a wonderfully strange museum.
Douglas M — Google review
It's a sculptural genius, we had been there just to view it in the evening and walked around in the park nearby. The ambiance is calm and cosy, definitely recommended to visit with friends and family.
Mohsin I — Google review
If you’ve never been to the Atomium, it’s absolutely worth a visit—especially if you enjoy unique architecture and panoramic city views. As one of Brussels’ most iconic landmarks, the Atomium blends retro-futuristic design with a sense of playful wonder, making it stand out from more traditional European attractions. Even just approaching the structure is impressive: the massive, reflective spheres rising above the surrounding park have a surreal, almost sci-fi presence that immediately captures your attention. The real highlight, though, is the view from the top sphere. On a clear, sunny day, the outlook over Brussels is genuinely stunning. The city stretches out in every direction, and the sunlight reflecting off the metal surfaces adds a bright, almost cheerful atmosphere to the entire experience. It’s definitely the kind of place where the weather can make a big difference, so visiting on a day with good visibility is ideal. That said, the Atomium becomes truly magical at sunset. As the sky shifts from gold to deep blue, the structure’s lights begin to glow, giving the entire monument a soft, dreamlike quality. Watching the city transition into evening from up high is a moment that feels both peaceful and memorable. Whether you're a photographer, a casual tourist, or someone who simply enjoys a beautiful view, sunset at the Atomium is something special. Overall, the Atomium is a unique blend of history, design, and atmosphere—well worth the trip if you haven’t been before.
RR C — Google review
Spectacular structure. They take you to the top level by elevator where you have a panoramic view of the city. Then you work your way down each atom. In one of the atom, they have light and sound show which is very cool. Finally you come back to the lobby level and gift shop. Overall it was a great experience and highly recommend it when in Brussels. It’s conveniently located close to a train station so you can reach it from any location in the city.
Shahbaz S — Google review
Visiting the Atomium in Brussels was one of those iconic “we have to do it” moments and I’m glad we did! We went on a Sunday without pre-booked tickets, and thankfully it wasn’t an issue. We waited about 15 minutes to purchase tickets and begin the experience. Just a heads-up: the visit is split into two parts, and you’ll receive two separate tickets per person. The first part of the tour takes you up a series of escalators and stairs through the spheres, where you can learn about the history and construction of the Atomium. Most of the informational signs were in French, so we moved through this part fairly quickly, admiring the architecture more than the displays. At the end, you’re guided through the gift shop and outside — which felt a bit confusing, because you then need to rejoin the crowds to continue on to Part 2. The second part involves queuing again inside the building — about 20 minutes for us — before taking the futuristic elevator to the top sphere. The view from above is definitely the highlight, especially if you love snapping photos and videos. There’s also a restaurant at the top, and free restrooms (a lifesaver after all that waiting and cold weather!), but we didn’t have the chance to dine there since we were catching a flight later that day. Once you’re done enjoying the panorama, there’s one more line for the elevator back down — so yes, a bit of a queue-athon overall. 😅 In the end, it was a good experience and I’m happy we visited — the Atomium is unique, quirky, and a standout piece of Brussels history. That said, the flow of the tours could definitely be improved to reduce all the waiting. If you’re planning to visit, be prepared for lines and maybe book ahead if you can, but the views certainly make the effort worthwhile!
Vadym — Google review
This is a very fun and interactive activity for travelers of all ages. There are concurrent and subsequent additional places like other museums that you can attend while here to include “LITTLE EUROPE AS PICTURED”. This place is perfect for gathering souvenirs as well as picture taking which is professionally available and opted to you at the ending of the activity. We did not get to frequent the restaurant at the top due to them only having one section of the restaurant open at the time; however, other reviewers have stated the food is not good.
B. F — Google review
Getting a ticket online is recommended, as the venue can get quite busy. The presentation collection is impressive, but the view is hidden by coloured glass. However, the breathtaking and impressive stairs with the light show are worth the wait.

Beautiful tourist destination is Brussels, Belgium. There was a steady line of tourists enjoying the beauty of this modernist building. It is an important landmark in Brussels. It was originally constructed as the center piece of the 1958 Brussels Expo. Now it is a museum and an art center. When one stands under it one is likely to marvel at the huge symmetrical structure. The huge globes are interconnected symmetrically giving the building the shape of an atomic structure. Atomium is built in a very beautiful location, surrounded by fine gardens and a nice row of trees.

Absolutely the best. I got such a nice room with a great view to the station. Spacious and superclean room. Friendly and very helpful front desk staff. Excellent breakfast. Only complain I might have would be the smokers on the front entrance due to close proximity of the bus stop.

Not a great hotel for families. Rooms very dated. Carpets in the rooms and nasty stains all over them, feels very dirty. Bed like a block of wood and pillows with filling all knotted and bunched in places. No sound proofing at all so can hear people in the hallways, and very busy train station right outside so very loud. Parking very far, so if coming with a car avoid this hotel at all costs, if not for the reasons above anyway. Arrived at 11pm with 2 very tired children, 2 and 4 years old. No parking at all outside, risked parking in the road for a few minutes while unloading the bags. Asked wife to go and check in so I could park the car. Parking is 15/20 minutes away including walk back to hotel. Asked my wife to check in and go to the room. Her purse and phone was in the car in the hurry. When I got to the hotel they were still at reception and was told receptionist wouldn’t give the key because the tourist tax had to be paid. I asked the receptionist why couldn’t you give my wife and kids the room key as I was coming back and it’s 11pm for a 2 and 4 year old who were very restless and making it difficult for wife to look after. Fee was only €5 and all she said is I can’t give it, there’s cameras all over watching me. It’s such a stupid excuse, and doesn’t care about customers at all and their struggles. Wife was struggling for 20 minutes with 2 children who were rolling around the floor while she just watched on. They could have been in bed, and all for €5 which we were obviously going to pay anyway, along with the parking costs at the reception. Had to come back to pay that after anyway for a parking garage which was a while away. I then asked if the request we made for a cot in the room was seen and if there was a cot. She said I can see your request so there will be a cot in the room, and if there isn’t just let us know. She didn’t care at all. Surprise surprise no cot in the room, so waited another 20 minutes with the kids for the cot to be bought up. Wished we never booked this hotel, staff with no empathy or care for customers. Avoid at all costs.

Water & Amusement Parks
Efteling is a massive amusement park located in Brabant, south of Amsterdam Zuid. It covers 1000 hectares and is three times larger than New York's Central Park, making it one of the largest in Europe. The park features fairytale-themed rides, wooden roller coasters, and a captivating water fountain and light show.
Such a fun park! We were a couple with 4 kids, ages 4 to 16, and we had a great time. We arrived right when the park opened — the parking lot was already quite full — and we stayed until the very end. We managed to experience everything, some rides even more than once. In my opinion, there’s no real need for two days, unless you want to take it slow and relaxed. There are plenty of attractions for both younger and older kids. Of course, there are more exciting rides for kids over 120 cm, and those usually have slightly longer lines. The longest we waited was about 40 minutes, which is quite reasonable for a summer day — some rides had no line at all. The rides are really well-designed and a lot of fun. The whole park is well-organized, with great atmosphere and music all around. There are also shows throughout the park, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for them. We randomly came across one horse show that was beautiful and impressive. At the end of the day, there’s a fountain and water show with music and lights — a great way to finish. We left exhausted but happy — totally worth it!

I remember this being one of the happiest day of my life so far. Where my inner child was allowed to experience joy and excitement with no limitations. There are various different rides ranging from easy-going to adventure seeking, so different strokes for different folks. It's very family friendly and easily accessible to all. On the day we went, there were a lot of kids, babies, toddlers and disabled persons. It accommodates all family sizes. I went with my partner and we noticed that there were some rides that were only for single riders, so you can definitely experience this solo. In addition to the rides, it's magical to walk around and take in the atmosphere and Fairytale details of the park. I really appreciated the fact we didn't stand too long in the lines for food and the rides. Also a big shout out to the staff who are simply the best (to quote Tina Turner). Thank you Efteling!

It is ok for families with kids between 5 and 10. Probably also for people between 20 and 25 who are seeking gor a bit of adrenaline. Food prices are ok All in all, if you live at maximum 250 km is a good place to spend a nice day.

Probably the best theme park i've ever been to. The attractions are really immersive and they have something for all ages. They also have some really fun shows happening all over the park. On top of that, i thought all the food we had was very tasty and reasonably priced. Since we went on a weekday at the end of September, the wait times were never more than 10 minutes. I would definitely recommend using their app which has an interactive map of the park where you can view the live waiting indicators and show times.

Even on a Wednesday, there were still lots of people! The popular rides had a 20–30 minute wait. Some of the facilities looked a bit old and even a little creepy, but the merry-go-round was very special and really cool.

Efteling is a stunning themepark full of magic and spectacle! It’s perfect for bringing children or honestly any family member- I’m not joking your grandma would love this! Every attraction is themed, detailed and a cared for. Nothing is without consideration, the green spaces, the story telling - even the bins are a delight (iykyk). Every staff member you encounter will be lovely- every ride operation will be fast but efficient. One day is simply not enough to see and experience everything as there is so much to do but one day at Efteling will fill your heart for a year if you have to travel as far as I did for the experience!

A bit crowded and long queues compared to other parks, but it is worth it. Many people prefer new rollercoasters, which are nice of course, but in my opinion joris and the draak is still one of the best: longer ride and many turns, plus the waiting line moves faster.

An incredible day out. Beautifully designed and perfect for kids We spent a full day at Efteling (10am–7:30pm) with our two young children and honestly, it was amazing. The park is huge and much bigger than Disney in terms of space, but it never felt overwhelming. There are so many rides, attractions, and beautifully landscaped areas to explore. Despite it being August and around 25°C, we barely queued the longest we waited was 30 minutes for the train (we'd just missed it), but everything else was under 10 minutes, including the pedal trains, a few dark rides, and Carnaval Festival. What really sets Efteling apart is the atmosphere: peaceful, whimsical, and full of little pockets where you can sit, eat, or just wander in the shade. It felt like a fairytale world that hadn’t been turned into a shopping centre. One big downside though – no water fountains anywhere. Coming from the UK where free tap water is a given, this was a bit of a shock. The day before in Belgium we were told off for asking to fill our bottles at a soft play, so luckily we had our Yeti flasks with us at Efteling – they just about lasted the day. Would 100% go back – totally magical and very thoughtfully put together. Oh and the pancake restaurant is so charming. And the fountain show is a brilliant way to end the day!

Mauritshuis is a government collection in The Hague, Netherlands, featuring hundreds of Dutch paintings including works by renowned artists like Rembrandt and Vermeer.
A bit crowded, but fantastic collection of Dutch painters. The atmosphere and space is just amazing. The gallery is not that huge, I think you can go through in an hour. I highly recommend to download the app before you go.

Visited Mauritshuis, a very well-known museum located in The Hague, near the Binnenhof. The first interesting thing I learned is that Mauritshuis actually means “Maurits’ house”, which is quite fascinating! However, behind the beauty of the building, the story of how its fortune was built is not entirely pleasant. However I won’t spoil it, because you should visit and find out yourself! This museum is also home to the iconic “Girl with a Pearl Earring” by Johannes Vermeer. Fun fact: we might not even be sure it’s an earring, as it doesn’t appear to be hooked! Another remarkable painting is “View of Delft”, also by Vermeer, which holds a special place in my heart since we live nearby and it carries meaningful memories. We even bought a puzzle of that painting, surprisingly affordable for something sold in such a prestigious museum! During our visit, there was also a live Q&A about painting restoration, where they were working on “The Bull” by Paulus Potter. It was fascinating to see how restoration combines art, material and chemical engineering, ethics, and history. For instance, The Bull was taken during the French occupation of the Netherlands, and at some point, a nail scratch was added to the painting. The big question is: do you fix it, restore it, or keep it as part of history? You decide! You can also download the Mauritshuis app and enjoy a free audio guide directly from your phone. I recommend bringing your own headset for the best experience. Overall, a truly great and thought-provoking experience, so I highly recommended!

A small but nice museum with a collection of beautiful paintings. I went there to see the Girl with the Pearl Earring. It was interesting to watch experts clean up one of the paintings. Staff are friendly & helpful, the museum & facilities are clean and the shop has nice souvenirs. You can buy your tickets at the reception as well as leave your coat and bags.

On a per square foot basis, this relatively small museum in the Hague might be the very best art museum in the world. The number of amazing masterpieces from the Dutch is nothing short of stunning. The ability to get close to them is even more wonderful, although people have to abuse this privilege by trying to vandalize the paintings with desserts and other terrible things. From start to finish, we were absolutely stunned by the quality and intimacy of this place. That someone who doesn’t even love art all that much, I fell in love with it.

We were iffy about going here but saw it listed as maybe the top attraction in den Haag we ponied up and I enjoyed the very impressive detail of so many paintings from around 1600s then seeing Rubens and Rembrandt I was able to see what made them different and special - luminescence and stuff so that was interesting. To save walking up the steps there is a lift but the trick is the button is on top of the post outside not on the wall so if you’re looking on the wall you’ll never find the button for the lift.

The Mauritshuis is a beautifully curated museum with an exceptional collection, including several world-famous paintings like Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt’s The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. The galleries are intimate and thoughtfully arranged, which makes it easy to appreciate each masterpiece up close. However, the museum is quite small, and the ticket price feels a bit high for the amount of time you can comfortably spend inside. Even so, the quality of the artwork and the elegance of the building make it a memorable and worthwhile visit.

We spent a Saturday evening here, 2hours before closing! It was the perfect amount of time we needed for our weekend in The Hague! What a showstopper museum!! Gorgeous building, and the art is just marvellous 🤩 The girl with the pearl earring was just the icing on the cake! The display of the restoration of one of the pieces was very enjoyable! Thank you 🙏🏾 Highly recommended!

Loved this gallery in elegant former residential home. Came to The Hague to see The Goldfinch, he didn't disappoint! Also The Girl With The Pearl Earring, she was very beautiful. View of Delft was breathtaking. Obviously my phone photos do not do them justice.
