The Haji Bektash Veli Complex is a cultural center and pilgrimage site for Alevi Muslims. It houses the tomb of Pir Sultan Haci Bektas Veli, a medieval saint, and features cultural exhibits and gardens. The museum structure in the courtyard is noteworthy, with an interesting dome-topped tomb. Visitors can drink holy water from the Lions fountain at the entrance.
You need to see such a mystical place where Haci Bektaş Veli is still welcoming wonderers of divine love and tolerance. İt should be regarded one of the wonders of Anatolian cultural heritage

Walking through its halls felt like stepping into a miracle. Each exhibit told a story: of ancient civilizations, of groundbreaking inventions, of human creativity and resilience. I found myself learning so many things — not just facts history but lessons about religion progress, and the beauty of human expression.
Alket K — Google review
Mystical experience, many tombs of spiritual leaders. Two different practices of Islam come together. You’ll see people with and without hijab entering. You’ll see people praying in traditional Islamic ways or like alevites, making circles around the thomb. Free entry.

Haji Bektash Veli (Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli) (1209 – 1271) was a saint, and philosopher from Khorasan who lived and taught in Anatolia. Not much is known about his origins, but he is revered among Alevis for an Islamic understanding that is esoteric, rational and humanistic. Hacıbektaş Külliyesi (the complex) was built in 13th century as a teqe (dergâh) of the Sufi saint Haji Bektash Veli. His mausoleum is also located in this complex.
Nilufer U — Google review
Very spiritual and beautiful place. You won’t find any tourists here at all. A very small „city“, very local and nice, helpful people. Haci Bektas was one of the biggest preachers of the alevism. The overwhelming feeling you get here is incredible.

Selima Cathedral

Historical place
Nature & Parks
Selime Cathedral, situated just over an hour outside Goreme, is a site with a rich history dating back over 1700 years. Initially a center for early Christian worship, it later served as a castle under the Seljuk Turks and withstood the Mongol invasion. The cathedral's breathtaking rock formations were carved out by humans centuries ago and have served various purposes throughout history, from monasteries to hotels for travelers.
This is not just a historical site, it is an extraordinary place that bears the traces of human history and faith. It was impossible not to be fascinated from the moment I stepped here, as it was completely different from the structures and geographies I had seen so far. In particular, its size and preserved structures were truly impressive. It contains a huge kitchen, large rooms, a basilica-style church and wonderful columns and reliefs carved into the rocks. These details clearly show how important a center this place was in the past. How did worship take place in such a difficult environment? And how was it preserved for so long? Many questions came to my mind while visiting this place, and with each step I understood better how valuable this place is in terms of history and religion. Additionally, its unique geographical structure offers an extraordinary view both from inside and outside. It has a magnificent and peaceful atmosphere where nature and history are intertwined. Even though it is a little far from Göreme, it is definitely a place worth seeing. I 100% recommend this unique place where history, faith and nature come together!
Gyoza P — Google review
This cathedral site was probably the best cave site we visited. The path up the mountain into the various buildings/rooms is amazing and in great condition. The views of the historic site and the valley below it are stunning. You can easily picture why this site had historic religious significance as well as military value. You can also visualize in your head a caravan of camels loaded with treasure staying overnight here for protection (read the sign about this site that I posted for more details.) A very nice place to spend about an hour. Take your time, enjoy the views, and history. It was also less crowded than other places which is very nice too!
Global E — Google review
One of the interesting historic places in Cappadocia. The complex area was built on the path of rock mountain, you can see the study room, prayer rooms, cave rooms,… It s impressive structure what attracts you, when you climb to higher point, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the valley. I can just sit and enjoy the winds and views from there. Take about 30-40 for sightseeing and photographing. Be careful when you climb up and down, you need a good shoes for this place.
Ngoc T — Google review
This is a unique cathedral. It used to serve as inn as well as a monastery. The view from this cathedral is also very unique. You can understand the history of this place without a guide too from the instruction boards located outside every room. You will need around 30 to 45 mins to cover this place. Be ready to climb a few stairs for the visit.
Alok A — Google review
Selime Cathedral — Where Stone Whispers the Echo of Centuries At the very end of the Ihlara Valley, when the path seems to fade between dry hills and warm wind, an almost unreal sight appears: the Monastery of Selime, also known as the Selime Cathedral. Carved directly into volcanic rock, this vast structure feels more like a dream than something made by human hands. Walking through its corridors is like stepping into a world suspended between faith and survival. Centuries ago, Byzantine monks carved churches, kitchens, stables, and hidden passages into the stone. At its heart lies the “cathedral” — an enormous rock-cut church with columns sculpted from the mountain itself and faint frescoes that still cling to the walls. There’s a sacred silence in the air. Light filters softly through small openings, dancing across the worn surfaces. You can almost imagine the monks who once prayed here, the travelers who sought refuge, and the soldiers who later turned the monastery into a fortress. Every corner tells a story — even the shadows. From above, the view over the valley is breathtaking. The contrast between the blue sky, ochre cliffs, and human devotion etched into stone makes Selime Cathedral one of the most mysterious and hauntingly beautiful places in Cappadocia — a meeting point between nature and spirituality.
Paulo V — Google review
Selime Cathedral in Kayaaltı, Selime, near Güzelyurt in Aksaray, Turkey, is an impressive rock-cut monastery carved into the volcanic cliffs of Cappadocia. The surrounding landscape of fairy chimneys and valleys adds to its dramatic setting. A quiet, atmospheric stop that gives a real sense of Cappadocia’s historical depth.
Noel M — Google review
Selime cathedral is in fact a complex structure that included a caravan passage, inn, cathedral, chapel, storage rooms etc. - a complete town in the rocks. This is the best preserve rock architecture we encountered in Cappadocia with eleborate rock carvings and frescoes, columns and tunnels from Byzantine period (8 thru 11 c.) The complex sits on the top of the hill and offers magnificent views over the valley. You can easily spent an hour there climbing all the tunnels and dead-ends and returning to the “red-arrow” route. For a speedy sightseeing either few pics and selfies 30 minutes may be enough.
CompetentCrew — Google review
I think it's worth driving past the Cathedral after visiting Ilhara Valley.. Most of the cave churches are similar. This one have quite alot of history so go with a local guide. The views from the Cathedral are spectacular!

The Rahmi M. Koc Museum in Ankara, Turkey is a top destination for car enthusiasts and families alike. The museum offers a fascinating exploration of the progress in transportation and science, featuring rare cars, medical tools, boats, old warplanes, small cars, and more. Visitors can stroll through the beautifully restored historical building to discover an extensive collection of artifacts that illustrate the development of the automotive industry.
The entrance fee was 250 TL. There are a huge number of different exhibits in this museum. The exhibits are divided by theme, for example: engines, trains, agriculture, etc. It's great that some mechanisms are interactive, so you can see how they work. The museum complex consists of two buildings. It took me 2 hours to see all the exhibits. I liked this museum the best of all the ones I visited.

The Rahmi M. Koç Museum in Ankara is a hidden treasure worth every minute and penny! Nestled in the historic Altındağ district, just steps from the Ankara Citadel, this industrial museum is a captivating blend of past and present, housed in the beautifully restored Çengelhan (1522) and Safranhan (1511) buildings. Ticket prices are fair—160 TL for local adults, 70 TL for local students, and 400 TL for tourists—and the experience far exceeds the cost.Walking through, I was blown away by the variety: vintage cars, locomotives, maritime tools, old radios, and even a playful toy collection. Getting to interact with some exhibits brought the history to life—touching a piece of Turkey’s industrial story felt special. Standouts include Vehbi Koç’s first shop replica and a stunning 1700s painting of Ankara. The glass-roofed courtyard adds a modern flair to the Ottoman vibe, and the café is a cozy bonus. Its location is unbeatable—right by Ankara Castle and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, making it easy to explore more after. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, this museum is a delight. I’d highly recommend it for a unique, hands-on dive into Turkey’s heritage!

Such a fun museum to explore! It’s full of fascinating history about old businesses and inventions. I especially loved the classic cars and the tiny model houses 🏠🚗 The place is clean, peaceful, and perfect for a slow museum walk.
Sama S — Google review
The museum is amazing and has some really good vintage cars. There are other things and personally collections from koc family too. The museum also offers a cafe. Teachers and students pay a discounted price of 50 TL. Usual price is 100 TL
Yaqeen S — Google review
Mind blowing and beautiful. We are not sure what the theme of the museum is hahaha, it has tons of EVERYTHING, literally, but each corner is amazing and you just keep saying "wow" over and over. Very reasonably priced, we were there for at least 2 hours and I'm sure we didn't even finish half of the exhibits, this museum is massive and encompasses several buildings. Truly unique and marvelous, a must see in Ankara.
Javier — Google review
A truly impressive museum and a remarkable tribute to the life’s work of Rahmi M. Koç. The collection is incredibly diverse – from transportation and industrial heritage to everyday objects – all curated with an extraordinary attention to detail. You can feel the passion for innovation, history, and progress in every part of the museum. An absolute must-see in Ankara for anyone interested in technology, engineering, and culture. I was genuinely impressed – and will definitely return!
T. K — Google review
I really loved the musum. As someone interested in history and the people, it gave me really good glimpse into the life and profession of the Turkish people in the past century. The other part of the musum, which included the collection of many things, from model trains and model ships, to hunting gear, submarine and ship parts, etc, was really interesting as well. I spend more than two hours there, and I think I should've spent more.
Hasan N — Google review
It's simply great place to visit - lots of different models and original mechanisms all over the world, you'll find miniaturized ships and planes, rarity cars like Ford T or Messerschmitt KR200, the historical background of the museum building is also affected telling visitors the story of handicrafts in Ottoman Empire. The whole visit could take up to few hours because exposition is quite huge, but it's really worth it.

The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, situated on the south side of Ankara Castle, houses an extensive and unique collection of artifacts from Anatolia's significant archaeological sites. The exhibits are displayed in chronological order, spanning from the Paleolithic era to the Ottoman period.
What an amazing experience, definitely worth a visit when you are in Ankara. The museum is really well set up and full of so much history. The audio guide is also really well made and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Glad to have been able to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations

Interesting place to discover the ancient history of Turkey. Everything is very interesting until the roman area which comes short. Their is good explanations of the artifacts exposed ans the place is beautifull too. I fou have one thing to see in ankara I believe it is it.

Fabulous wealth of amazing artifacts from neolithic to Roman occupation times. I could have spent another 3 hours here, but for time constraints. The Sumerian, Hittite and Akkadian stone carvings and wall reliefs are jaw dropping!
Luke T — Google review
Well done museum. Displays are well lit and easy to see, even in a crowd. They have sculptures and pieces of life from thousands of years BC.
Debbie E — Google review
This is one of the most important Museum about Anatolic antique culture and Art. It is a great journey into the ancient art from Paleolitic period with divine feminine little sculptures (paleolitic venus), mural paintings and graffiti, decorated & zoomorphic vases, the fascinating Grave Sun Disk Ornament and primitive utensils till 1.000 BC. But nonetheless, there’a central rooms with decorared walls from ancient temples and cities. A must-see place, expecially if you are not going to travel through the region to visit ancient ruins spread all over former Anatolia. The location of the Museum is also a nice quiet place within a nice little park and close to a typical turkish market descending back to the big avenues. The Museum has designed also some space dedicated to rest and have some talks when finished the tour. Finally, as a restored old marketplace, the building in itself is a pleasant spot in the caotic architectural melting pot of the capitol.
Michela R — Google review
A must see place in Ankara! The museum is not so big but it's incredibly interesting. I've spent here 2.5 hours. The exposition is amazing, not just like in a common archeological museum. The entrance fee is high for foreigners, this is the only fault. €12 is a robbery

I love the experience most especially the changing of the guards. It is a much awaited and MUST see! The museum is very well kept. The arts are really amazing! I just wish that people really adhere to not smoking in the area. Overall, it was a great experience.

Amazing place especially the informative museum. Security is tight and can take a while to clear. Our guide told us dslr cameras 📷 are not allowed in. However, on entry we noticed a number of people with them. At exit, asked the Security about this, and he advised that as long the camera and lens don't appear large, it's permitted. Not advisable to take more than one lens, so take a zoom type. Also be prepared for large crowds especially at weekends. Changing of guard is worth watching 👀. It happens every hour at quarter past hour.
S V — Google review
The day we were there was very busy due to national student holidays, that's why the main hall was very crowded and approaching the tomb took a long time. Was surprised to see how well the old cars were maintained for exhibition. Smoking is prohibited on the whole area, watching the soldiers marching in the yard was interesting too.
Emad P — Google review
A must visit in Ankara. It's free to enter, there is just an extensive security check at the entrance. They have an exhibition of Atuturks personal belongings as well (clothes, swords, medals, pipes, tea sets etc.) and an area displaying scenes from the war of independence. So it's also like visiting a museum. They have a small cafe too.

🇹🇷 Ankara — Atatürk Memorial (Anıtkabir) Visited the majestic Atatürk Memorial in Ankara — the final resting place of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the visionary founder of modern Turkey. The monument’s grand architecture reflects both ancient Anatolian and modern influences, symbolizing unity and progress. Standing before his tomb, I could feel the deep respect and pride the Turkish people hold for their leader. The Changing of the Guards ceremony was particularly moving — precise, solemn, and dignified — a timeless tribute to the Father of the Nation. 🇹🇷 #AtaturkMemorial #anitkabir #Ankara #ChangingOfTheGuards

If you like walking and trekking in a beautiful and safe forest area, this is the ideal place to go.The forest park, situated at an altitude of 975 m (3,200 ft), has picnic places and well-marked hiking trails, and offers a relaxing retreat from the city. The region’s many natural hot mineral springs have been developed to create spa resorts. One of the best of these is Kızılcahamam. Of all the thermal spas scattered around Ankara, it is also the most suited to tourists. There are comfortable hotels and other facilities for visitors who want to stay for a few days. My second time visiting Gordion and the museum and it has been redone. Very well organized, concise, and full of information. Well worth the ticket if you are going to visit the archaeological site. Ticket gets you entrance to see the Midas tumulus too which is an amazing experience.

But the highlight was the countryside air, farm views, and my first-ever Turkish donkey sighting! A must-visit for history buffs and nature lovers alike!

The museum is great. It isn't big, the greatest archeological finds were taken to the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations in Ankara, but there are still interesting artefacts and plenty of information to read here. Don't forget to check out the impressive mosaics outside. I recommend going to the museum first and then to Midas' tomb (ticket 20 TL applies to both) and then driving to the Gordion ancient city site nearby to get the full experience.

Nice place but Im honestly a bit unsure if its worth a visit. Its about a mansion of one of the richest families in beypazari. Museum shows are in turkish so for turks its possibly better but for anyone non turkish I had to translate on the side. It still is a nice history.

A must see place in Beypazari. You can dive into the historic lifestyle of inhabitants and the places where they used to live. In every room, another poetic experience will meet you. Do not skip the unique marbling art experience!

I just love this lake, anyone who comes to Bolu should visit and enjoy this beauty ♥️ We visited it almost everyday during our stay and enjoyed it every time differently Once at sunset, another time during the morning with some fog and so on it keeps changing and giving you another side of it's beauty The place is full of benches for picnics and also a walking path around the lake, and the trees there are just magnificently tall big and just magical ✨

Yedigöller National Park

National reserve
Nature & Parks
Yedigöller National Park, located about 42 kilometers north of Bolu, is a breathtaking nature retreat known for its seven interconnected lakes, lush forests, and diverse wildlife. The park offers visitors the chance to explore small waterfalls, scenic trails, and even hot springs. Despite the road leading to the park being in need of repair, it's a must-visit destination for those seeking a romantic and tranquil forest experience.
Highly recommend going to see the Büyükgöl during the fall. It has been one of the best places we have visited in Türkiye. I read a review that said people must be using filters, but I didn’t put filters on any of my photos, the Yedigöller is just that impressive. Additionally, the time of year you visit is important. We went in November when the leaves were changing and it was absolutely picturesque.
ES K — Google review
A very beautiful and wonderful place, especially in autumn. It gets crowded on weekends, and the road requires attention, but it’s definitely worth it
Hamit Y — Google review
We visited Yedigöller at the weekend. The weather was great. Along the way, I recommend stopping at Kapankaya seyir terasi... It's an inconspicuous stop, so I recommend following the GPS. There is a narrow road leading to yedigöller and it is forbidden to stand on the side of the road. But the park was full of people and everyone stopped. That is why there was a ban on the way back, for the way back you had to go in the direction of Mengen. Which is a longer and, as they said, worse way. The road from Bolu was good, in places it was completely new. There were a lot of people in the park. The leaves were yellow in places, but mostly still green. Don't believe the photos on social networks, they use a filter. But it's a nice place and everyone should visit it at least once. The lakes have a beautiful turquoise color.

15/11/2025 : Instagram tarafından öldürüldü :( 50k people, almost 10k cars...1.5hr drive on an unmaintained local road to reach a place that is no bigger than 2 acres and where there is no natural light after 3-4pm... + with such huge crowds in such a tiny place expect the usual crazy littering (dozens of water and ayran bottles scattered everywhere, even saw a whiskey bottle floating) and general ridiculous behaviours (constant honking, loud music playing, wannabe instagramers shooting nonstop, cigarette packs and cigs everywhere...). The place itself might be ok when alone tho fairly secluded, but is really not worth the hype in those conditions. Avoid this place!

Amazing experience! I went there from Istanbul, i took a bus to Bolu and then hitchhiked to the national park ! It was 7 in the morning, the first driver left me in the middle of the road And I was a bit worried not to find another driver! But after 9 you will find plenty, The park is amazing, worth visiting

Lake Abant is a freshwater lake in Turkey's Bolu Province in northwest Anatolia, formed as a result of a great landslide. The lake lies at an altitude of 1,328 m at a distance of 32 km from the provincial seat of Bolu. It is a vacation and excursion spot for both Turkish and foreign travellers due to the natural environment, forests, and accessibility by car. It is served by a 21 km road. It is three hours' drive from İstanbul and Ankara. Lake Abant is a natural park. The lake covers an area of 1.28 km2 and its deepest spot is 18 m. The lake area has two large hotels in the immediate vicinity of the shores, as well as other amenities and services for visitors, who sometimes alternatively opt for the family guesthouses available in the nearby town of Mudurnu, 18 km to the south. European black pine, Scots pine, oaks, ashes, hornbeams, willows, junipers, tamarisks, hazels, common medlar, and strawberry trees are among the tree species that make up the lake's woodlands, and there are wild boars, fallow deer, roe deer , red deer, brown bears, wolves, red foxes, jackals, and rabbits in the surrounding forests, which makes the lake a prized location for hunters during the season. The lake is inhabited by the Abant trout Salmo abanticus, a (sub)species of trout which is strictly endemic to this lake only.

Cehennemağzı Caves

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Ancient caves with an underground lake, said to be where Hercules fought the hound of Hades.
We visited mid week in late April. Really cool place! Information boards in English and Turkish so no need to do a load of research ahead of time. Good amount of parking. Free with Museum card (or 40TL per person if you do not have a museum card). There is a restaurant near to the caves if you need food or drink (we did not). All caves are great, but I really loved the Cave of Cerberos (all pictures attached are from there), but the other two caves are good too. I would say that the other two caves are suitable for young children but Cerberus's is nitas stairs very steep and slippy. Wear trainers. Take your camera!

Three wonderful historical caves near the center of Ereğli, imbued with mythological significance. As with everything in the Zonguldak province, it has so much potential if only more resources and care were to be invested in it.

I recommend that you go down the stairs at the entrance of the cave very carefully and hold on to the railings and have a look. The staff warns you. I would also like to draw your attention.

Güzeldere Falls Nature Park

National reserve
Nature & Parks
Forested recreational area with a high waterfall, plus camping, cabins & a picnic space.
Guzeldere Falls Nature Park is surrounded by lush forests and vibrant greenery. The park offers multiple viewpoints to admire the waterfall's beauty from different angles. Walk to waterfall about 15 minutes from the car park.

As far as I saw there is wc inside the park and a buffet. There is picnic sites too. You should walk 300 meters stair road if you want to see fall.
M. S — Google review
One of the best places you may visit. Welcoming and friendly people. Excellent for family camping.
Rashad Q — Google review
The park itself is quite lovely, though it's worth noting that there's a car entrance fee. Once inside, you'll find it to be quite expansive, offering numerous seating areas. Additionally, there's a supermarket on the premises, although it happened to be closed during our visit. One of the notable features is the generously sized play area, perfect for families. However, the standout feature is the Güzeldere waterfall, which holds the distinction of being the largest waterfall in Düzce. To reach this impressive cascade, you'll need to descend a total of 375 steps. The descent is relatively manageable, but the ascent can be a bit tiring. Despite the effort, the experience is truly rewarding, making the fatigue well worth it. This location truly embodies a mix of natural beauty and recreational opportunities, making it an awesome destination to explore.
Nooor H — Google review
A beautiful place to visit. It takes 375 steps to go down to see the waterfalls. It's worth it. If you go there with an organised tour there isn't much time to sit , relax and perhaps have a meal. We could only have coffee. I'd you go there privately, recommend to have breakfast and walk around.
Meltem K — Google review
This location is exceptional, ranking among the most scenic in Düzce. Despite the approximately 250-meter stair ascent, it is well worth the visit.

Genoese Castle

Beaches
the view is very pretty, the castle is not much but the scenery is lovely. if you go on foot from Akcakoca city center, it's 4-5km (but very uphill downhill all the time!!). There's a little cafè at the castle.
Valentina V — Google review
I was expecting more to be honest. It is just a stop by the beach and little is to see about the castle.
Rawan A — Google review
A bit off the beaten track, but I think this could be quite an attraction in years to come. But having made the effort to locate the site, it was disappointing to arrive at what is effectively a building site that is not currently open to visitors. There is clearly a lot of work in progress to preserve these ruins for future generations, so will need to revisit once the works are completed.

Visited on a cold rainy Monday, no lines. No people, didn't need to buy any tickets, just walked around and enjoyed the place. Place. As it's a sparsely populated coastline, this was a highlight 🙂

Fantastic castle built by the Byzantines, unfortunately it is closed for a few weeks at the time of this writing due to ongoing excavations. The beach next to the castle is small but very clean with a restaurant next to it it is a great place to chill after you see the castle .

Akçakoca Fortress is located near Akçakoca city within the boundaries of province of Düzce. Akçakoca Fortress was built on a cliff which has 100 meters height. There are semicircle eaves on the west wall of the fortress. There is a bastion on the south wall and a cistern in the courtyard. The walls of the fortress were built by using ruble stone and brick. Genoeses put their coat of arms on the wall of Yoros Fortress in İstanbul and Amasra Fortress to illustrate their contribution to building. Results of some chemical analyses on brick and plaster used in Akçakoca Fortress show that it was built in the same period with Yoros Fortress and Amasra Fortress. This supports the idea that this building was used by the Genoeses. River, great walnut trees, waterfalls, picnic areas. Of you need to hide from heat waves, noice, hard work, come and relax here.
Turan K — Google review
For the most part this place is very pretty although not well mapped out, it’s difficult to find out where you can actually go, but I think it will benefit from a site map. If you come in the winter, roads are rough, and everywhere is closed. But the river is beautiful. There is no access to the waterfall from here, you had to drive 35 minutes around the hills and even then it’s hard to get as roads are very bad. There is a lot of potential here but needs improvement, however, very beautiful area.

A beautiful way to spend the day. Entrance fee is 15TL, Tent Camping is 30TL, Vehicle Camping is 35TL per day (August 2018). There's a picnic area by the main entrance. We chose to drive the somewhat dangerous road closer to the falls. Please be advised, the only road (from inside the park's main entrance) is not for inexperienced drivers. Once you've successfully passed the park's harrowing road, you'll see a small building on your right with rooms for rent and an attached restaurant. Directly to your left is where you'll find the "upper hike" which takes you through the cliff side and offers a view of the falls from above. If you drive down the short slope, you'll have to choose between left and right. There's picnic tables set by the stream. These tables cost 10TL per day. The WC in this area is 1TL. Also to your left, is where you'll trek through water, rocks, and "natural" walkways to get to the falls. If you're in the area, this park really is a must see - at least once. FYI: Wear a good pair of sneakers or hiking boots, bring a change of clothes, small children must be carried most/all the way to and from the falls. Easiest path with small kids is from below and through the water. Charcoal, for bbq, is usually cheapest at Şok in Karasu.

Very nice place, the river water is cold and I enjoyed walking in it. Also it’s a good place for camping. Note: before you go there you need to be prepared and wear suitable shoes and clothes because you will not enjoy it if you don’t walk inside the river.

Excellent option for camping or just having a picnic and enjoying breakfast or lunch. It’s huge, beautiful, and green all around. Enjoy breakfast right in front of the lake—you’ll love it. This is a place that i recommend everyone to visit, but definitely not on a weekend... it is very peaceful and quiet in normal week days and the best time to go there is early morning... there are places to do BBQ . The fee to enter is ok only 30 Turkish lira There is also a nice restaurant in the beginning right after the gate that serves breakfast and coffee and tea .. Workers are very friendly and polite, and you can feel warm welcoming . Make sure you take some food for the animals. There are a lot of ducks and other kinds of birds and some dogs and cats ... Taking a walk there or riding a boat or riding a horse is an option, too . There is a place to ride horses, but it's not always open .
Abdullah A — Google review
If you’re looking for a peaceful, nature-filled escape from the noise of the city, this lake is an absolute hidden gem. I stumbled upon it by chance during a weekend trip, and it quickly became the highlight of my journey. The moment you arrive, you’re greeted by the gentle sounds of nature — ducks paddling calmly across the clear water, sheep grazing lazily on the green hills that surround the lake, and the rustling of leaves in the breeze. It’s almost like walking into a painting. What I loved most was how alive the place felt. The ducks are surprisingly friendly and often waddle right up to you, especially if you have snacks. The sheep mostly keep to themselves, but they add such a cozy countryside charm. There are trees bearing fresh fruits — I saw apples, plums, and even a few pear trees — and you’re welcome to pick one or two if you’re respectful and gentle. Fishing is also a popular activity here. I saw a few people quietly casting their lines in the more shaded parts of the lake, and a couple told me they often catch small fish like perch and carp. I didn’t try fishing myself, but it looked relaxing and meditative. There are boat rentals available too, which I highly recommend. Gliding across the lake with just the sound of water and birdsong around you is something truly magical. Don’t miss it — it’s a serene, picture-perfect spot that deserves way more attention!

Sapanca Lake is a gem that offers tranquility, beautiful landscapes, and a wonderful break from the everyday routine.

A good place to sit, relax, walk etc. A good range of cafes and restaurants are available. During the day, it's crowded but at night the place is very peaceful and relaxing.

The best place to chill in Sakarya. I even slept for an hour near the lake lol

We visited during November, and it was still beautiful. Maybe in the summer you can enjoy it more and swim inside. It's a large lake and there's many restaurants and shops around the whole area. We want to visit again soon. We stayed in a bungalow nearby with a view of this lake.

Do visit this place to spend some wonderful time. Take a lot of pictures and share it with your loved ones. Transportation is available which connects this place to the Sakarya City Center and is easy to reach. You can try fish and all kinds of other food there in the restaurants there. The place is also good for meditation.

50 eur for two portions of french fries, two sucuk sandwiches and four salep drinks. And the both toilets were closed because “the water froze”. At +5C. See the picture what your outfit may look like after using their 15 eur cable car. No, this hasn’t washed off in the washing machine or with a wet wipe. PS Dry cleaning didn't work.

Pink Rocks, also known as Kefken Pink Rocks, is an ancient quarry featuring pink stone along a rocky waterfront path. It's a popular spot for swimming and photography, offering stunning views of the pink surroundings. Visitors can also enjoy local cuisine at the Pink Mansion nearby. The area is best explored during low tide when more rocks are visible and accessible for walking. Many recommend catching the breathtaking sunset at this picturesque location, despite occasional crowds and slippery surfaces.
Went to this place right before my departure from Turkey. Really enjoyed the view from this place. Sea seems limitless, and the rocks provide some kind of a spirit to the whole picture. Very beautiful place.

Nice view of Blacksea, with big waves hitting to the cliffs. Rocks with interesting colours. Easy to arrive at the destination. But it's very sad to see that garbages around thrown carelessly.

Wonderful place to visit. The rock is actually pink. I was there when very few people were around so it was easy to take good photos. I'm sure it will look lovely at sunset time. I think it is best to go at low tide; you can see more rocks and walk on them.

Crazy waves on stormy days, so amazing to stand by the water and get splashed completely by the salty sea. Don't fall in!

Beautiful mosque with wide yard and nice scenery. There is a place outside for wudhu too. The mosque is close to a souvenir and Uludag Mountain as well
Rodiah W — Google review
"It is a beautiful mosque that has become famous as the Green Mosque. Evliya Çelebi The construction of the mosque, which was started by Çandarlı Halil Hayreddin Pasha in 1378-1379, was completed by his son Ali Pasha in 1391-1392 after the death of the pasha. The construction of the mosque took 14 years and according to the information in its inscription, its architect was Musaoğlu Hacı. During the War of Independence, the Greek forces that occupied the city stole its plaques, carpets and rugs; they tried to burn the columns and altars by pouring oil on them. The damaged building underwent serious repairs between 1956-1969 and the minaret, which was damaged in the earthquake, was restored with its tiles and gained its current appearance. The single-domed mosque, consisting of a harim and a narthex, has a rectangular plan. There is an inverted tulip motif under the columns at its two corners. The top row is decorated with an oyster motif. The minaret, a masterpiece that gave its name to the mosque, left its mark on its era with its tile decorations. The tiles on the minaret alone form a zigzag motif in turquoise, green and purple. The marble mihrab has strong stonework and is the first marble mihrab of the Ottoman Empire. The mosque's last restoration was carried out in 2015.

Peaceful place to be. The mosque is beautifully crafted with green and blue black-lined tile decoration inside. Which dates back to 15th century.

The Iznik Green Mosque (Yeşil Cami) is a historic Ottoman mosque located in the town of Iznik, Turkey. Built between 1378 and 1391 during the reign of Sultan Murad I. It was commissioned by Sadrazam (Grand Vezier) Çandarlı Kara Halil Hayreddin Pasha. The mosque is one of the earliest examples of Ottoman architecture, showcasing the transition from Seljuk to classical Ottoman style. Its name comes from the green tiles that once adorned its minaret, though much of the original tilework has been lost or faded over time. The mosque features a single dome over the prayer hall, a portico with elegant arches, a slender minaret decorated with glazed green and turquoise tiles which remains its most distinctive feature. Today, the Green Mosque stands as an important cultural and architectural landmark in Iznik, attracting visitors interested in early Ottoman design and history.

Hey, if you're into history, this place is from the 4th century! You'll see some cool Byzantine paintings. It became a mosque after the Ottomans took over. It's the original Hagia Sophia, so it's awesome. I found this place because it's mentioned in a book by Hakan Mengüç. Bring your own headscarf, though; they have some, but not many. It's wheelchair accessible, too. My kids loved it, and there's a park nearby. 🏛️🕌🇹🇷

Interestingly enough, this Mosque in Iznik (ancient Nicea) was called after St Sophia as it was a Church since the 3rd Century. This building dates from the 7th Century and was the place where the 2nd Council of Nicea was held. The altar us adjacent to the Mihrab, directed towards Mecca.

The mosque is history itself. I wish it was heated though considering how cold Bursa is. Regardless, it's really beautiful and has a lot of history behind it.

Hiking Trails
View talks.. Good spot for hiking. Recommended in October or November.
Khadija A — Google review
Such a beautiful spot!! We went in October during the week and weren’t charged any entrance fee. It’s true there is litter on the grounds (so sad) but it doesn’t really take away from the experience. Especially if you’re only visiting on a day trip. I wouldn’t call the hike difficult but the trail has overgrown shrubs in some areas that are thorny so I recommend long sleeves and pants. There were also goats with accompanying dogs and the dogs can be aggressive, but if you show dominance and wave your arms and yell, they’ll run back. Don’t let them scare you. It’s a fairly easy trail to follow but I had a lot of trouble finding a map online beforehand. When we got there, the restaurant owner at Kilimli Restaurant had maps so if you’re worried you could ask him for one. It took us about 2.5 hours to complete the loop and end up at the restaurant again. Please remember to clean up after yourself, there isn’t maintenance on the trail and it’s such a shame to see this beautiful spot tarnished by people’s lack of care for the environment. We need to do better.

Nestled on the Asian side of Istanbul, Faruk Yalçın Hayvanat Bahçesi ve Botanik Parkı is a delightful small zoo that offers an engaging experience for families and animal lovers alike. With around 200 species to marvel at, visitors can encounter everything from majestic giraffes and powerful lions to playful monkeys and graceful deer. The zoo not only showcases a diverse array of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians but also emphasizes conservation efforts and wildlife education.
We have spent a nice time at this beautiful zoo today in the afternoon. Lots of interesting animals that are well kept such as lions, tigers, rhinoceros, crocodiles, monkeys, chimpanzees, giraffe, birds, parrots, llamas, bears, zebras, hippopotamus, jaguar, hyenas, raccoons, turtles, and foxes. The zoo closes at 5 pm. There's a small cafeteria at the entrance and another one inside. Ticket for adults is 500 TL and our 2 year old son for free. You can easily spend 3 hours at the zoo. There's no parking for the zoo but you can park your car on the street nearby.
Nathalie K — Google review
Layout is good. Price is ok. Didn't get to see alot of animals as enclosures were empty but we enjoyed the different animals we don't have back in Australia
Sans M — Google review
Istanbul’s largest zoo is clean and well-organized, but it has surprisingly few animals. Many species are represented by only one individual. We were told that the hot weather can make the animals stay in their shelters, limiting what you see—but even accounting for that, the animal count seems quite low. Most of the playgrounds and rides were closed, and while there is a café, there are no hot drinks available. I’d only recommend visiting during summer, and it’s a good idea to check ahead to see which animals and activities are available. Entrance fees for non-Turkish visitors are significantly higher—around three times the local price. We paid 1,300 TRY per person, which felt steep considering the experience.
Mohammed K — Google review
My family and I are totally in love with this zoo! This is the perfect place to spend a happy day. There are so many beautiful and varied animals and birds! Do not read the comments of stupid and uneducated people, so as not to spoil the impression and not go.Go!!! Definitely Go! If you are not a fool, you understand that animals are not robots… they have to sleep, eat and hide from the heat as a normal soul on this planet. So choose the right day to go to the zoo and spend the perfect day!
Anastasiia S — Google review
I'm in love! It was such a fun experience, especially for taking photos on a sunny day. The vibrant green of the plants was so beautiful—it’s a must to visit when the sun is out so you can fully enjoy the scenery while exploring. It’s such a great place to take your time and soak it all in. The only small disappointment was that I didn’t get to see the giraffe out in the open. It was there, but staying inside its little enclosure, and I was really hoping to see it outside. Still, it was a fantastic day overall!
Rahaf A — Google review
Faruck Zoo is an impressive and spacious zoo that offers visitors the chance to see a wide variety of animals in clean, well-maintained habitats. The facilities are modern, and the staff are friendly and welcoming, always greeting guests with a smile. It’s a great place for families and animal lovers to spend the day, with plenty of opportunities to learn and explore. However, the major downside is the ticket price—at 1500 TL per person, it feels extremely expensive, especially since nothing extra is included in the ticket. While the experience is enjoyable, the high cost can be frustrating for many visitors.
Fahad F — Google review
You can see different kind of animals in the zoo but many of them are missed with empty cages It was bit overpriced for 800TL entry fee in june/2025 Though worth it for someone interested in animals
Mohammad R — Google review
There aren’t 300 species there.. but you will see different kind of animals Some are hiding from the sun with the heat .. it’s nice to walk and enjoy the nature additional to the animals .. Get a normal ticket instead of the meal thing..

Nice location. We parked our car near the court complex and walked. Vehicles cannot reach close to the house — you need to walk or use the cycle track. We saw buggy cars near the monument; they might have come from the entry on the other side. You can view the complex from outside without an entrance fee. The garden is nice.

Yuruyen Kosk is known to locals as "the walking house". This is because Ataturk decided the building was too close to a large tree. Instead of removing the tree, he had the mansion moved. Ataturk first visited Yalova in 1927. He had specifically chosen this as his destination as he wanted to make use of the local thermal facilities. Whilst he was staying in this area he stayed in Baltaci Farm which was a wooden pavilion next to the thermal bath. Ataturk commissioned the construction of a mansion for himself in Millet Farm and this was finally completed in 1929. The originally house made from wood was renovated later. The two-story building has three lounges and eleven rooms and is well equipped with furniture that has been taken from the Dolmabahce Palace.

Greek Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Aya Yorgi Church, also known as the Church of St. George, is a reconstructed Greek Orthodox cathedral located on Buyukada, the largest of the Princes Islands. The church boasts a modest exterior and a lavish interior with exceptional Greek-style icons, including the famous icon of Saint George. While reaching the church involves a challenging trek up a steep hill, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views from the top.
I’m in good shape and healthy, but it still took me about 20 minutes of walking uphill, with a couple of stops along the way to catch my breath. If you’re not in great shape or need mobility assistance, this climb could be really tough. That being said, the hike is absolutely worth it! The view from the top is stunning, and the cute little church is a must-see. Plus, it’s free, which makes it even better. Highly recommended when you’re on the island! P.S. The church closes at 16:00, so make sure to get there before it closes. Also, if you’re taking the island buses, keep in mind that each way costs about 65TL. On the way back to the island center, there aren’t any ticket machines to recharge your transport card, so make sure you’ve got enough money on it for both directions. And don’t forget to bring water, sunscreen, and a hat for the road!

Tips Respect the site: Be mindful of any rules or restrictions when visiting. Take photos: Although a photo graph is not allowed at some parts, you can capture the church's architecture and the surrounding scenery.
Ms A — Google review
The church is on a summit in the big island “buyukadad” , which is a bit hard to reach specially in summer weather as the road goes uphill and there’s no way other than walking. But it also provides you so many beautiful scenes and when you go up high enough you can see parts of Istanbul across the sea which is breathtaking. Inside the church is so quiet, relaxing and charming. The building is not that big. In the end it is worth experiencing this whole combination of nature, history and religion.

Amazing place to visit for those who enjoys a long walk up in the hill with super picturesque views. Church was already closed when we reached ( closing 4pm) but the view was worth it all the way! Definitely place to explore while being in Princess Islands. On the was back we took mini bus and it was quick ride to reach back to port. Left with loads of beautiful pics and few thousands of steps tracked by the phone 😅 Leaving few pics here to give you a motivation for a climb 😁🙌

Ayayorgi Monastery – A Heavenly Climb Above the Sea Reaching Ayayorgi Manastırı on Büyükada is a journey in itself — one that begins with the gentle waves of the Bosphorus. From Kabataş, the ferry glides across the sparkling sea, your İstanbulkart opening the way to another world. When you arrive at the island, a local bus (again with your trusty İstanbulkart) takes you up towards Lunapark — the last stop before the climb. From there, the real adventure begins: a 20-minute walk uphill, where every step feels like a pilgrimage. The path is steep but sacred — after all, God’s path is always uphill. The air grows quieter, the sounds of the city fade, and all that remains is the whisper of the wind through the pine trees and the distant shimmer of the Marmara Sea. When you finally reach the top, the fatigue melts away. The view is breathtaking — the sea stretching endlessly, the sun dipping low and painting the sky in shades of gold and rose. Nature here feels untouched, almost divine. The monastery stands peacefully, watching over the island like an old guardian, while below, the waves gently embrace Büyükada’s shores. It’s not just a place — it’s a feeling. The beauty, the silence, the climb — all remind you that the most beautiful views always come after the hardest paths.
