Lysá hora, also known as the Queen of the Beskids, is the highest peak in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids region at 1323 meters. It offers a variety of hiking trails and a quaint ski resort. The mountain is located near the village of Ostravice and provides stunning views from the top.
Very nice mountain to hike. They have a restaurant on the top with good beer and delicious food. It is a very cozy place for you to get some rest after your hiking.
Rafa H — Google review
I still remember the moment I stepped onto the trailhead leading to Lysá hora. The air was crisp, cleaner than anything you could ever breathe in a city. The trees stood tall like old guardians of the mountain, their leaves whispering in the wind, almost urging me to keep going.
Joel F — Google review
Amazing 15km walk to have a great view & lunch on top of this mountain. Highly recommend especially when is sunny as the views are lovely. You can see Slovakias High Tatry and all the mountains around. Beskydy are beautiful
Michaela H — Google review
Such a beautiful mountain view... And nice deserts with coffee if you reach the top of the mountain.
Eimintas S — Google review
The highest (1323m) mountain in the Moravian-Silesian Beskids region. The air is fresh, and there’s a lot of routes & shortcuts to take to the top. The views from the top are beautifully amazing and there’s also a restaurant too which is a sight itself. Highly recommend a visit, and it’s perfect too even for the inexperienced hikers.
William C — Google review
We can't say it's not a good place for vist, but today it was so hard and difficult to reach on the top of the mountain due to the slippery of the ice found there and the difficulty of the road. But I advice all to visit and maybe in the upcoming days so the weather will be much better.
M'hd N — Google review
good hiking way and beautiful view
Giwoong K — Google review
This is the highest peak in beskid mountain range ay 1324 meters. Literally it meant bald head. Only the head is bald but entire rope is in the thick canopied trees tall in nature. Itty took less than 2 hours to climb, normal speed. At certain places the gradient is bit steep. Within 40 kms from ostrava you can stay early in the morning and as well come back for lunch. The owl bats are the birds available as pet the information boards. Since hiking is permitted throughout the year one who lives nearby can see the beauty in all four seasons. During winter, this doubles as a ski range the cable car for which just ends at the opposite to the only big hotel lawn. Jan Cupa the man who reported to have climbed 400 times in a year is the authority.

Huge, interesting zoo with lots of species. Everything is well maintained and under a good care. All animals look healthy. I would like to visit it again in spring or summer to see the botanic garden.

Really nice zoo where they are taking really good care of the animals! Almost each species has a space with trees, leaves and everything they need. I really recommend visiting this Zoo! You can buy tickets at the entrance. The parking costs 100 CZH per day.

Very nice zoo - it’s a great connection between animals and botanical gardens in park style. If you are hungry- you can use a full variety of food and cafes. Children also won’t be sad or bored - they can use many different areas for play and joy. Visiting this place is very valuable and gives many opportunities to learn and explore our environment. Five stars and full recommendations!

I visited on a sunday and it was a bit busy. The animal enclosures are big and look like a natural habitat. It is well maintained, clean and the animals are in great shape. They also have breeding programs and overall seems like a very humane zoo.

Great location to go and see an elevated view of Ostrava! The cost was about $3.50 US dollars to go to the top but well worth it. The viewing binoculars located at the top are free to use! We came on a Sunday at it was open until 7 pm
Russell S — Google review
A nice viewpoint in a city town hall. The view is astonishing, all Ostrava is visible from different sides.
Marharita C — Google review
So glad that we unplanned got there! And there are a few reasons to go the city hall. 1) building itself is nice outside and gorgeous inside! 2) modern comfortable elevator; 3) very friendly staff speaking different languages: 4) in-price guide on the top, who tells everything about the city, ask any questions, gives advices about places to see, cafes to go etc. 5) reasonable price (60 czech kron/person = 2,5 euro) 6) bird-view on the whole city! In nice weather I would stay there for hours.

We visited Chateau with my English speaking partner (I am Czech). That time, the place was open only one week. Staff really friendly, helping my partner to enjoy visit by personal guidance in English. Static displays in Polish and Czech, audio (except initial video) and interactive displays (computers) in Polish, Czech, English and German. It was two hours very pleasant experience. I learnt a lot about my neighbour history (I am from Ostrava). It was very active (interactive) tour thru the expositions.
Petr K — Google review
Beautifully renovated place. Nice for a visit or just for a walk. The Beckett ' s chapel is worth a visit. Other rooms house temporary exhibitions, yet, apart from the chapel little remains us of its origins rooted in the Middle Ages.

We've been there twice during music festivals and it was a place to be. Outside the events dates, the bar in the corner seems to be open for tourists almost every day and the local brewery is next door so ;)

Mining Museum Landek Park

Mentioned on

Hiking area
Specialty Museums
The Mining Museum Landek Park is a museum located in an old mining facility that offers indoor and outdoor exhibits showcasing the history of coal extraction. The museum provides tours for 1 or 2 hours, with the latter including an underground mine shaft experience. Visitors can opt for an mp3 audio guide available at cost in English, German, and Polish as the tours are conducted only in Czech. Hats are provided during the underground tour as some parts have low ceilings or beams.
Exciting place to enjoy park, historical story, underground explore and good food in a good restorant nearby. All packages are perfect to enjoy a day.
Minju J — Google review
Fascinating decommissioned mine, with an actual cavern section underground and an elaborate exhibit dedicated to the regional mine rescue organization. Well worth the money and 2 hours of your time.
Leon K — Google review
If you are a small group of less than ten people who don't speak czech I highly recommend getting only the short tour ticket. What they fail to convey is that the second part of the tour you will be forced to walk around with the Czech group and be ridiculed for not knowing the language, outright mocked like we're in highschool. The museum itself is really interesting and the history is very well presented, but the mining part of the tour is just unappealing if you're just looking to check the museum out casually. The app they give you for translating the information and listening to it is just not well written and sadly you can't get any coherent information from it. Just plan ahead and get a guide if you are interested about the mining shaft.
Doy D — Google review
Very good experience! Unfortunately, the guide did not speak English. However, he tried bis best to explain :) Tours take 1 to 2 hours and you need a guide.
Charel T — Google review
Entrance is arround 12€. Mine lift is clasic elevator. Elevator cabin is just changed to mine lift cabin with bell. And you go down 5 metres. Or 4?? If you expect that real mine lift which go down 800 m deep quite fast. This is not that. You don't even get breathing machine. Good for kids up to 10 Y for explaining. Not like real day work shift experience in mine.
Jakub P — Google review
I advise againts spontaneous visitation if don't speak Czech. There is an English translation app you can download, which gives brief information about Indiana vidual stop Points, but keep in mind you will most-likely have a Czech speaking tour and it will be hard to see the described items (keep in mind you are also not allowed to walk alone in the mine, so you ate stuck with your group. If you want to see some early 20 century mining and diving equipment - just buy a ticket for the Mining Rescue tour and ignore the mine. The app gives a decent overview and the Rescue is a standard museum, so you can walk free. Expect to be smirked at if you're not an English or German speaker
Alexander C — Google review
Tours are 1 or 2 hours. 1 hr is above ground only and covers mining rescue. 2 hr tour has an add on to the underground mine shafts. Tours in Czech only but mp3 available at cost in English German and Polish. Total for 2 hr tour with mp3 ckr 190. Hats are provided for underground as the ceiling or beams get low at times. Drive all the way up to the free parking lot. Cc accepted.

Great museum of the most special car brand in the world. Stunning designs, inventive techniques. The main square behind the museum is also very nice. And then you also have to visit the truck museum!
Jonah V — Google review
Very nice car museum from a local car manufacturer Tatra. They have a bunch of vehicles on display for people to come and see. They have a handful of very unique vintage vehicles and an airplane. The one thing that really caught my eye was the snowmobile they have on display.
Lanster — Google review
Perfect place for all trucking lovers. Place full of history for young and old. Wide collection of all Tatra trucks, historical amazing achievements in motor sports (exhibits from the Paris Dakar, or formula trucks), military, civilian or construction vehicles all at one place! You can spend 30 minutes at the museum but can be consumed by a visit for a whole day. A kid-friendly place, some attractions like trucks you can ride (max 120 cm. tall kids), or some interesting interactive devices (like a wall with vehicle lights). I am glad that there are places as important as the truck museum.
Aleks D — Google review
It's quite a small museum, packed full of cars . It's not very interactive for kidsbut there's plenty of restoration cars for you to view and read about as an adult. It's very clean and well presented . Worth it if your into reading about cars Unfortunately for us we had the day ruined by the miserable old volunteers lady. We were followed round by them , constantly watching us. We felt uncomfortable as they were stalking us everywhere we went , watching to make sure we didn't touch anything . We are responsible adults and made sure our kids were under control . However I didn't feel there behavior of making us feel unwelcome was worth the trip .
Scott C — Google review
This is Tatra Kopřivnice Museum which is the famous producers of large vehicles trucks Tatra from Czech Republic. When I was here at the museum in a year 2016, it was called the Tatra Kopřivnice museum, and there were Tatra cars and also Tatra trucks. Today, however, everything is different. This museum is now called a personal vehicles Tatra museum Kopřivnice. Because the Tatra company opened a new museum on November 17, 2021 at a different location, where it moved all Tatra trucks and named the second museum Tatra Trucks Kopřivnice, which was created in the reconstructed building of the former foundry of the TATRA automobile company. Anyway this photographs presents the current Tatra Museum Kopřivnice with personal vehicles. So what to expect here. TATRA personal vehicles from all stages of production. The exhibition is complemented by chassis, engines, models, designer designs, a few trophies from sports competitions, period photographs and various rarities. How the museum has developed over 70 years and the exhibition has grown and is still improving. After the entry of the new Czech owners to Tatra company in 2013, Messrs. Jaroslav Strnad and René Matera, several important acquisitions were made the purchase of the extensive collection of the private collector Mr Jiří Hlach. Which helped improve the variety of cars and quality of the exhibit collection. And this current Exposition consists of several parts, which are limited in time and thematically. The phenomenon of the production of aerodynamic limousines is presented in the aerodynamic hall, where you will find the first prototype V 570, the first series-produced aerodynamic type Tatra 77a, or the T 87.  There are also types of aerodynamic Tatra planes from post-war the production - T 600 Tatraplan. The all history and information about cars and museums you can find on the Tatra Museum Kopřivnice website and that I highly recommend to visit both Tatra Museums.
Prague W — Google review
If you’d like to visit be prepared that there are actually several museums on different location. The main in the center is focused just on personal vehicles, there’s another museum for trucks where can be found speed train Slovenska Strela. Recommended is to reserve at least 3h for both museums visits. There are another museums Fojstvi and Lasske museum as well. The personal car museum is old style which obviously didn’t go through any refurbishment long time, while truck museum is stunning and new architectural shine.
Mat B — Google review
Many cars starting from early days of motorisation, through twenties and thirties up to the after world war socialist era. Sport cars, limousines and cars for ordinary people. It's a pity I was not able to see Slovak Bolt - fast train with aerodynamic body - it was not there because of refurbishment. There are aeroplanes, trophy trucks and utility trucks too. Great place. I've been in that kind of place in Warsaw and Washington but many years ago. I suggest it to everyone if you haven't been in such place since last 3-5 years.
Jacek D — Google review
2 nd visit to this area and decided to go take a look. Wow. Great museum. If you interested even vaguely in cars and trucks it's most impressive. The older vehicles, pre 1930 are spectacular. The designs were superb. Great details and well laid out. There are even aircraft! Fridges, bowl choppers and electric motors. They have a few trucks but the Paris Dakar machines are amazing. I was shocked at how great it is and I never really knew about it. Shows from the very beginning 1890 odd through to today. Also the World trips to Africa and South America in the 1950's Quiet amazing. Go take a look, you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful piece of architecture. It is worth to have a nice walk to get there and then up the tower for the view. The cost was 40 Kč pp. On the top you can feel the building swinging slightly in the wind. We also appreciated to sit down in the sun on the benches beside the tower.

Another great piece of work of the Slovak folk architect Dušan Jurkovič. A must-see if you are in the region. The hike from parking down in Rožnov is around 1,4 km long, not very steep and can be managed even by eldery people or people with young kinds. The entry fee is 40 CZK per adult, 20 CZK per kid. You can also buy a family ticket (2 + 2) for 80 CZK. You can also buy some souvenirs there. The views are not as spectacular as from other towers but this was not our main focus in this case.

Wallachian Open Air Museum

Heritage museum
Museums
The Wallachian Open Air Museum in Zlin, Czech Republic is a captivating attraction that offers a fascinating insight into the traditional rural life of the region. Spread across a vast area of well-preserved natural landscape, the museum features over 100 authentic buildings such as wooden houses, barns, and churches that represent the architecture and lifestyle of the Wallachian people. Visitors can also enjoy festivals and performances at this historical site.
Hardly any tourists here. As the name says, it's open air. The water mill tour is in Czech only so we didn't do it. You need 2 hrs to see the village behind the ticket office and 30 mins to see the little wooden village across the road. Free parking along the road. A fantastic experience with houses you can inside and experience living conditions. The information boards are very informative. Cafes, toilets and souvenirs to buy.

We were amazed by a historical place that we visited, which showcased a lot about the old Wlachia country. We were impressed with how the Czech tourism organization had tried to preserve the authenticity of the place, and we felt that they had succeeded in doing so. The visit took place in winter, and the snow added to the beauty of the surroundings. We highly recommend this historical place as a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to understand the Czech culture. The place offers a unique glimpse into the history of the country, and the authenticity of the place makes the experience even more special.

Very interesting open air museum. You can go inside the old houses, see, touch the utensils. Everywhere there are descriptions in Czech and English. There are 2 restaurants on site, free toilets, as well as souvenir shops. It was very interesting to see how the old mill works. A great place for a relaxing holiday with the whole family 🔥

A beautiful old tower that currently serves mainly as a viewing point. It is worth climbing to the top to see the wonderful views, but you have to bear in mind that there are many stairs along the way.
Jan K — Google review
Worth the walk up the stairs to get a panoramic view of the surrounding area. Tower was closed the day we visited (Monday) which meant no crowds. The walk back down through nearby streets was fascinating.

What remains of a 14th century castle is now open to the public. My six-year-old daughter and I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon in August. We paid 150 CZK for tickets and walked up 160 steps (we counted) to the top of the tower. Along the way, there are plaques and displays speaking to the castle’s history. Once to the top, you can walk outside to see the view of the town and region. It’s beautiful! At the bottom is a snack stand, restaurant, and ticket center.
Austin G — Google review
Beautiful medieval tower, worth climbing it for the views!

Great views. It's free to enter unless you want to go up to the top of the tower. Be aware that the tower contains over 200 steps on a spiral staircase. Unfortunately there is no elevator or any type of handicap access.

This place is just amazing. It's one of my most favorite places in Czech. The tower is amazing and there are some beautiful caves too. The caves are free and the tower is cheap. During the weekend in the summer it can be very crowded. There is also a botanical garden and another lookout tower.

Very cool little town. The little brew house had great food and beer. The guy running it was great. The gentleman in the church was super friendly. Turned on the lights just for me. Great little town. Well worth the visit.

Although it is a small city it is a Beautiful place. You can find the castle and you can get in. It is a castle with a lot of history about the tartars. You can try the traditional cake of the town witch is "ears" (you need to know the history of the city). It is good place for a day.

The Silesian Museum is a real gem. It covers both the history, and natural history of the region. The collection is very large and comprehensive. If you take your time to apriciate the exhibits you can spend multiple days there. The exhibits are almost entirely interpreted in Czech, however Google translate is your friend, and much can be figured out from context alone.

A quient little museum. The building is beautiful and lies on top of the old castle. The temporary exhibits all have English information but the permanent ones do not. There is a lot to see. I especially liked the stuffed animals in the basement section. Not very expensive and very much worth it.

Great museum, with exhibitions on natural history and local history (English translations provided for most of them). Very friendly staff, too!
Patrick G — Google review
A superb museum. Lots of galleries but we focused on the local history, upstairs. It is beautifully presented and through a series of tableaux, models and artifacts you see the development of the town and its buildings, industry, literature, arts, etc. A special exhibition of the wartime experience of the Jewish people of Ostrava was a surprise and joy as this is the purpose of our trip and was largely absent in Ostrava itself.

The place is pretty, the castles are also nice but we had very huge problem with parking. Parking is payed and you can use ONLY Czech coins in order to pay, there aren't aby ATM around to take cash out or anything. So it's pretty problematic if you don't have coronas.

Although it was closed by the time we got there the park was open. It's huge and beautifully maintained. The scenery is extraordinary and there is a box that plays classical music that gives the chateau a nice atmosphere.

Very beautiful castle! There were a lot of famous musicians, for example Bethoven, List. But of course you have to go there in the summer, because in November it is close inside! But you can go for a walk near the castle and it is very beautiful nature around the castle.

There was just a gate in the name of castle, but I enjoyed the views... If you like nature it's worth visiting.

Around 400m long path around the cave with commented guide. Excellent way how to chill in warm summer days (temp is const around 14°C). Very nice and in manyway specific cave. Well worth visit!
Jan K — Google review
The caves are situated in the pictureresque valley of the Bečva river near the spa Teplice nad Bečvou. This is a unique cave system of European significance created by simultaneous activities of atmospheric water and warm mineral water, springing from great depths in the limestone area. The unique decorations of the caves contain aragonite, raft stalagmites and sinter spheric coating, reminding of doughnuts. The bottom levels of the caves are parmanently filled with carbon dioxide. The caves are the warmest underground areas of the Czech Republic, with permanent temperature of 14°C, which remains stable throughout the year. The system was discovered in 1912 and made accessible to the public in 1926. The route open to the public is a 375 m tunnel (tour lenght about 50-60 min). It consists of several rooms with stalagmites and combined formations, creating interesting forms. The Marble Hall hosts exhibitions and concerts of chamber music. Underground mineral water sources rich in carbon dioxide are used in nearby spas and Spa Resorts.
Dinh T — Google review
One of 4 tourists-enabled aragonite caves in the world! Reached 50% coverage with this one. Unlikely I will ever visit Mexico or Argentina. Compared to the Ochtinska cave this visit is longer, and the aragonite is rather concentrated in one site, one wall-side. Good infrastructure, knowledgeable guides and beautiful nature around. And architecture. Nice place, would like to stay longer in the area sometime.

Interesting cave system created by hot spring waters coming up from underground. This contributed to a unique decor with "geyser" stalagmites and sinter ball coating. The tour was very interesting and I recommend to visit since these cave are different from others in Czech republic.

Zoo and Chateau Zlin-Lesna is a popular destination in Zlin, Czech Republic, offering a diverse range of animals from around the world. The zoo is spread out with various themed areas housing animals like rhinos, red pandas, giraffes, monkeys, and elephants. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful rose garden surrounding the gators' area and explore the elegant Lesna Castle. The zoo provides an enjoyable experience for nature lovers of all ages and offers dining options within the premises.
The zamek is amazingly beautiful and there are so much to see in here. My daughter and her friends are enjoying the trip and loved the animals there. It is quite big area so it takes us about more than two hours to explore.
Jlo Ž — Google review
I expected more from this famous zoo but that is probably just because of the spring season visit i will come again and hopefully will see more animals and prettier nature around. I expected it to be much bigger so booked castle to 3 PM but went through the whole zoo in 3 hours (from 10 am till 1 PM)
Ján M — Google review
Before our trip, I had already read about the zoo. Many sources mentioned that it is definitely worth a visit because it is so impressive. We planned it as a full-day program, and it really turned out that way. The zoo, which is also an arboretum, was absolutely captivating. Most of the paths go through shaded areas, so even in hot weather it is pleasant to walk around. The enclosures are also very well designed. We truly enjoyed our visit.
Dániel K — Google review
It's one of the biggest zoos in central Europe! We had a great time exploring animals from various parts of the world. Some parts of the zoo could be better maintained, but that wouldn't stop me from recommending it to fellow parents. Parking could be a hassle, so allow a bit of extra time to find a spot.
Sanket M — Google review
We had a fantastic family day at Zoo Zlín! We spent the entire day there and the kids were completely captivated. They absolutely loved seeing the tigers and the elephants, which were definitely highlights for them. But the biggest surprise for all of us was the Stingray Bay—the kids were thrilled to get to touch and even feed the stingrays! It was such a unique and memorable experience. The zoo is beautifully kept and there's so much to explore. We could have easily stayed even longer. We highly recommend Zoo Zlín for a fun and engaging day out with the family!

Sights & Landmarks
Helfštýn Castle is an impressive 16th-century hilltop fortress with a rich history and eerie legends. Built in the 13th century, it is shrouded in scary tales, including one about a devil's involvement in its construction and the ghost of a lady dressed in white haunting its walls. The castle offers a great experience for visitors of all ages, with military history festivals and captivating shows for kids, while grown-ups can admire the well-preserved complex.
A pretty large castle, one of the largest in Czechia (in terms of area). Its massive walls and towers are intact, however most of the buildings (like the central keep) are in a ruined state, so don’t expect to see expositions of furniture, weapons etc. it’s pretty and certainly has preserved the Medieval atmosphere. There is a restaurant in one of the intact buildings.
Nikola C — Google review
Wonderful castle, worth a visit.
Tomas — Google review
The biggest medieval castle in Czechia. It was partly rebuilt, but mostly only refurbished with a gentle touch of modern design. The sound of the castle's name resembles the mythical Hephaestion, which was an inspiration for the annual artistic workshops which resulted with decent collection of sculptures in metal, presented in open space within the castle's grounds.
Darko P — Google review
The castle was beautiful, eben mote in autumn. Just beware if you’re going outside if tourist season, if you’re not more than 5 people, the guided tour does not take place, which happened to us. We visited at the beginning of October, the castle pub was open and there was an exhibition going on and the tour guide gave us a lot of interesting information about the castle and region (not part of the guided tour).
Barbora H — Google review
Despite high prices of parking (150 Kč - 6 euro) and entrance fees (150 Kč per head), such a lovely place to visit! But do not bring a stroller - no way you will move there

Beautifully restored Helfstyn has a lot to offer to families with children or history enthusiasts. Easy (1h) walk from Lipník nad Bečvou. A must see if you travel to Moravia.
Jitka V — Google review
What a pretty castle, definitely one of my favorite ones from this area. The restoration they managed to do here was stunning, thanks to it you can visit all of the castle wall floors with beautiful views from the whole place. The castle also has the widest defense walls in Europe (a bit over 9 meters!) The wall is appropriately named "Široká"(literally meaning w "Wide" in Czech) It's also a place where each year blacksmiths from all around Europe come together and have a smithing competition together. You can see the best pieces displayed all around the castle, while most of them are great, few ones ruin the atmosphere of the old castle. The local guide that went with us through the castle was knowledgeable and pretty funny too.
Nagifur — Google review
We came during the blacksmith festival. It was a unique and cultural experience. Metal art exhibits around the castle, and you can also see how they are making at the workshops. It's amazing.

One of the coolest trails that is a must-see in this region. It is definitely better to approach the trail rather than go down it - it can be very dangerous and very slippery down there. It's safer to go down the "blue" route. (Original) Bardzo fajnie podejście "żółtym" wzdłuż potoku, watro mieć dobre obuwie (bywa ślisko i stromo jak to przy górskim potoku). Nestled in the picturesque setting of Svaty Kopecek, the Olomouc Zoo, or Zoologicka Zahrada Olomouc, spans an impressive 42.5 hectares of lush forest. This enchanting zoo is home to over 1,800 animals representing more than 354 species from around the globe. With a strong commitment to conservation, it actively participates in breeding programs aimed at protecting endangered species through initiatives like the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP).
Very nice ZOO situated within hilly terrain. Kind of smaller than Prague ZOO and during my visit there were some reconstructions ongoing, so some parts of ZOO were not fully accessible. Bunch of signs where you can learn various informations, lot of picnic-like places including shopping stalls. In the middle on the highest hill is located observation tower, from where you can see everything. There is also small safari-train where you can sit (60 czk per person) which will take on ride you around the ZOO during which you hear interesting things about animals that you passing by, definitelly recommend.

Definitely one of the better zoos in Czech Republic. Can spent whole day there. Food options are rather poor though, mostly fast food unfortunately.

I like this zoo a lot. Kids are always happy to see nice health animals with plenty of room to walk, sleep and play. Food in here is average, do not expect to have something really special, but its not the major thing in here :). There are plenty of playgrounds for kids, who are thrilled to play there. You can visit lookout tower in the middle of the zoo, and see the whole place from bird perspective. Kids love to visit the goat area, where you can feed and pet the goats. Its so cool and small kids love this! The zoo is well taken care of and they improve the quality of this place each year!

Fantastic zoo and was definitely worth leaving Prague for. Animal variety is extremely impressive and they are treated well by the friendly and passionate zoo staff. In contrast to many other zoos the animals are always clearly visible, while also assuring that they have the opportunity to remain unseen and undisturbed if they feel like it. There are also plenty of opportunities for getting up close with many of the animals, which can lead to some unforgettable interactions. There are also plenty of bathrooms, and kiosks where you can buy food, snacks, and dessert among other things. The zoo is also extremely well maintained and clean, making it a pleasant visiting experience. The only factor weighing down my score is the lack of credit card support in most if not all of the facilities in the zoo, which makes it important to bring cash in case you need snacks, drinks or you get hungry, while exploring the zoo.
Peter G — Google review
Beautifal Zoo 7km away from the city of Olomouc. De tickets are cheap and you can spend 3 or 4 hours to see everhthing of the zoo. It is situated on In the hills and forest. When your finished it's nice to visit the Basilik church nearby the zoo. From here you will have amazing view over Olomouc. The zoo is also reached by public transport from Olomouc railway station you take the bus for 15 minutes.

I think its sufficient for what it is. Got 2.5h entry was enough for me to have a swim, couple of slides on toboggans 🙈 relax in pools and 2 rounds of sauna upstairs. Its pretty much for families and kids. Not the sauna though. Had a hotdog when leaving. Parking was free as on Saturday afternoon a bit remote, not directly outside. The Kroměříž Archbishop's Palace is an opulent chateau featuring rococo rooms, frescoed ceilings, and an art museum surrounded by formal gardens. A three-hour train journey takes you to the town of Kromeriz, where the palace natural park can be found just a short walk from the station. The park boasts a vast 60-hectare space with ponds and rivulets. The palace houses original furniture used by its inhabitants and gifts from royal visitors.
We took the Via Magnifica ticket without a guide and it was a great experience. We came early, shortly after 9:30 alleged opening and bought tickets, however the exhibition does not open until 10:00. Ladies at the counter could've told us. But exhibition was fantastic, I love old paintings, they have a Tizian painting there (unfortunately I couldn't be in awe when the custodian was expecting in, because all I had in my head after she mentioned the name was episode from Egzorcysta, where one demon was asking the other 'Tizian, Tizian! Nie gniewaj şie.) Anyway...the paintings were fantastic, there are couches to just sit and stare at them. We continued to chapel, small, but so beautiful. The library was a feast for my eyes. So many books. SO MANY! Custodian told us they are in two rows and showed us, that in the cabinet after the Liege hall, third shelf from bottom next to the door out, there is a book from Božena Němcová. After the library we went to the tower, steps were fine (be prepared for cca 200 steps) a cute workout. I didn't spend much time out as I am afraid of heights, but the view is 360 and people were satisfied with it. We ended our tour in a castle cafe. They don't have plant based milk, nor lactose free, but tea was good. We ordered cakes: Míša and parisian cake. Mine was the best parisian cake I have ever tasted. Too bad the cafe is so tiny, just a few tables inside and a couple outside, so gets crowded and loud almost immediately, but damn those cakes...should've taken two.

The Via Magnifica Tour comes with multiple languages in the audio guide and includes picture galleries, some rooms of the palace (including the library), an exhibition on the flower garden you can also visit and a ticket to climb the tower. A there hour train journey to Kroměříž that is worth every minute. And no,you don't need to take a bus from the train station to the town center. Simply walk a dozen of meters and you will fond the palace natural park stretching down near the station. It's huge 60 ha space full of ponds and rivulets. Just make sure to leave it at 5pm as gates close for the night. The palace itself offers all original furniture used by its inhabitants, and presents brought by royal visitors. And do go all the way up to the tower. On a fall morning you will see the mists gradually unvailing the beauty of the main square.

TOTALLY MAGICAL ✨ GREAT HISTORICAL BUILDING WITH AWESOME GARDEN ✌️ YOU CAN GO BY STAIRS TO THE TOWER AND SEE ALL KROMERIZ CITY 👌 AND THE MOST WONDERFUL IS ORIGINAL PAINTING OF TIZIAN FROM 15TH CENTURY 👏

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU DON'T SPEAK CZECH We wanted to visit the palace because we read that it was beautiful. The only way we could visit it was with a guided tour, but they only gave guided tours in Czech. They did give us hope that we could get the information in english. They said that we needed to ask for 'the texts', which were the guided tours written in english for the guides themselves. The texts were way too long to read during the tour (even for the british person who was also on our tour). We were obligated to stay with the group because the next guided tour would be 5 minutes behind us. This was a complete lie since there is only one guided tour each hour (we were 20 minutes into the tour). The guide was very rude to us, just like here colleague who sold the tickets. When we asked to get a partial refund because we didn't receive what was offered to us, the lady just said that it was not her job but that we should try to find the contact information of the archbischop online and ask him?!? We asked if they didn't have any audioguides perhaps and she told us that was also not her job and that it was too hard for them to do it. We went to the museum on the second floor and there were litteraly lying 30 audioguides that weren't being used. There we could get and audioguide in Czech, English and Deutsch. The staff there were really helpful and should get a raise for putting up with their idiotic colleagues.

Beautiful gardens. But don't come here in April. It's still too cold for the flowers to blossom. Come here in later in May or further down the line to have the best experience. Beautiful wall with steps to reach the summit for fantastic view over the gardens

This castle garden is large and you can spend a few hours in it.If there was a restaurant inside,I would stay longer. There are promenades, fountains, small mazes, benches, hedges, beautiful trees and flowers. In the middle there is a rotunda with a beautiful ceiling.I recommend it to families and history lovers.

An absolute beauty in display. It's easy to get lost in the gorgeous flowers as you walk through the hedge alleys and countless fountains. I strongly recommend you pay a visit here if you are passing by. The Kroměříž Castle Flower Garden is one of the most amazing gardens I have ever seen. Try to visit it when the flowers bloom, as you will get the most of it then.

It is beautiful but in May, there were no flowers so it looks poor

The Flower Garden in Kroměříž is a peaceful and beautiful place worth visiting, but it could really benefit from better and more consistent maintenance.
VITEZSLAV P — Google review
Beautiful place. A lot of flowers and beautiful views/perspectives. Do not miss to explore all parts of the gardens as all have their own little particilarity. We liked the frogs getting tanned and the view from the balcony.

I was denied entrance here because the lady at the ticket ofgice printed me the wrong tickets! I was shocked that all the blame was putten on me without any efforts to settle the situation. Mistakes occour everywhere, the difference is how people deal with it. Here the staff is ignorant and not caring about visitors experience at all!

Basilica of Assumption of Mary and Saint Cyrillus and Methodius

Catholic church

Churches & Cathedrals
This place is a treasure. Spiritual, religious, architectural, artistic, historical. Plan to spend a day - in the basilica and outside. Dress up and in layers - it's cool inside. Yet, your heart and soul are warmed by the splendor of our ancestors' sacred work. They gave their best to honor the Creator and we're so lucky to see the results of their blessed efforts to this day.

One of the most renowned historical sight and Catholic cathedral in Czech Republic - St Mary Basilica in Velehrad. Worthy to pay pilgrimage. The sight is connected to St Cyril and St Methodius monk brothers who spread Christmasy in the 9th century. Great weekend getaway destination.easy to get here with a bus. There are coffee shops, souvenirs and tourist center nearby.

Incredible church and spiritually profound!

Very nice basilica, the interior is excellent and beautiful, just like the exterior. It is a fully functional amd working church with nuns and praying people. Very authentic. It is in a settlement with 1200 inhabitants so this church is way bigger than it would be needed. But I am glad it is here because it is beautiful.

Incredibly beautiful Cathedral. Remind me of St. Peter and St. Paul Basilica and St. Ludmila in Praue. Beautiful interior ad well. Highly recommended visit 👌

True architectural pearl of the Czech Republic. And almost no tourists! Hidden gem.

The beautiful gothic cathedral. You must visit here to see inside when you are in Olomouc.

I recommend to visit here on Tuesday to Friday so you can also drop by the museum next to the church. I didn’t expect a small city like Olomouc has a cathedral in this style. Personally find the architecture is more breathtaking than the interior.

The Olomouc St. Wenceslas Cathedral is well worth a visit. The beautiful and large building is situated near its museum and a lovely square, with a pretty garden next to it. The gothic structure has a beautiful interior, with an impressive collection of relics. You can also descent into the catacombs and pay respect to some earlier cardinals, bishops and archbishops.

We were surprised to find such a huge and beautiful cathedral in not so big city. We planned just tea take pictures and move next, but when we first saw it, we decided to seat on a bench next to cathedral and were looking at it about a half an hour. 100 meters tower, Czech king was killed in one of its room, and big restoration was made in 2007. So you should visit it.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Olomouc Astronomical Clock, situated on the north side of the Town Hall, is a remarkable landmark with a rich history. Originally constructed in the 1400s, it underwent significant changes after being damaged during World War II. The clock's redesign during the Communist era resulted in unique Social Realist mosaics and an animated display at noon featuring depictions of workers and engineers.
The Astronomical Clock in Olomouc, Czech Republic, is a fascinating historical landmark that blends medieval engineering with post-WWII socialist realism. Originally built in the 15th century, it showcases not only the time but also astronomical data such as the position of the sun, moon, and zodiac signs. Unlike traditional astronomical clocks, its figurines represent workers and scientists instead of saints, reflecting its Communist-era redesign. This unique timepiece offers a blend of science, history, and political symbolism, making it a must-see for visitors interested in both horology and Czech history.

Smaller but nice astronomical clock, built in 15th century. Nicely reconstructed in the fifties. The best time to come in see it it's by noon, when all the small statues come to life.

Buchlov Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Buchlov Castle, one of the most massive Czech castles, is situated on a hill with the same name. The heavily fortified hilltop castle offers stunning views of the Chriby (Mars Mountains) from its observation tower. The castle houses a museum with artifacts from the area's history and offers several tours for visitors to explore its grounds and learn about its rich heritage. While there are ongoing renovations and limited amenities such as a gift shop, the informative guides make the visit worthwhile.
Nice castle, quite well known within the Czech Republic. They have several tours and even with kids of the age of 3 years you'll enjoy trip. Overall there are 3 main tours and then some more (but not so often) if I am not mistaken, there is one tour per 10-15 minutes. You don't need to buy tickets in advance. Maybe just for weekends when there will be more people coming, but when I went there on mid august, there was still approximately 10 places left for each tour. For English speakers, some tours will give you an English text so that's quite nice to have. As for a pictures, our guide told us that we can take them, but we cannot use flashlight (even tho the sign right below stairs says no pictures at all). The guide we had knew really a lot, and was able to answer all questions we gave her. As a bonus, there is a restaurant inside the castle. Not very big choice of food, but when you're hungry, you'll eat anything.

A beautiful castle with amazing view from up , we went walking from Smraďavka and the way was interesting , it took around an hour and half , the only thing which made us upset that it's not allow to take ur pet with u inside
Abdi A — Google review
It's a beautiful tower but if you are with small kids you will not be allowed to go inside the castle as it's possible to do only with a guide in a group and kids can disturb people around. The area "outside" the castle is free to visit. It's really small but you will find a lot of corners for good photo shoot. Near the castle is a place for parking (free) and cafe with simple food. There you can pay ONLY with CASH!!! So take enough of cash money. The road from parking to castle is easy, so you can go there with kids for sure.

It was an amazing place to visit and the views from the lookout were just plain WOW! The guide was very informative and when they heard me speaking English, a person came to me and handed me a booklet in English. I was able to follow along with what was being said. The Castle is out of the way, but so worth visiting. I can't give it a full 5 stars because there are renovations underway and there was no gift shop or place to buy things. Definitely a place to return to.

It's a fine place to relax during long way to Slovakia. The main building if the castle is built in Spain style.

Castle is easy to access by car, parking cost 2 euros, than is line 5 min walk. You can have coffee at the premises, there is little art museum. Payment with credit card possible. Just 5 min from main road. Worth visit.
