Sights & Landmarks
St. Elisabeth's Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the country, was built over a span of two centuries and can accommodate over 5,000 people. Despite enduring numerous natural disasters such as fires, sieges, earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes throughout its history, it remains a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with artistic paintings. Situated in Kosice's historic city center, this cathedral is renowned for its unique features including a double spiral staircase and the altar of St.
Majestic Gothic cathedral and the largest church in Slovakia. For 3€ (March 2025) you can climb the narrow spiral stairs (more than 150 steps) to the bell tower for a great view of the city.

We visited here from New Zealand and came to this tower with a cousin. The steps up were pretty exciting and I felt like Indiana Jones 😆. Some people though might find it a bit claustrophobic because everything is very narrow. It was cool seeing the big bell roughly around the middle tower and then climbing to the top and getting a 360 degree view of Košice city centre. My favourite part was being able to ring the ball at the top and even though it wasn’t insanely big it still made so much noise. My family in the park close by could hear it when we rang it. There was a wire mesh that was there for our safety but also made it a bit annoying to look and take photos. At the end climbing down we had to call a phone number because the door was always locked and a person came and unlocked it, but they told us that it would probably happen so it’s not like they forgot about us or something don’t worry. Anyways, loved the great views and the climb was fun. Ringing the bell was the best part.
Tobias — Google review
This is one of the most fascinating churches I have ever seen! You can buy a ticket and climb the old staircase, visit the Rákoczy crypt and climb the church tower which offers spectacular views of the city centre. There is also a holy mass several times a day.
Pozde P — Google review
I visited St. Elisabeth's Cathedral with my wife, who is Slovakian, and our son. Whilst admiring how impressive this building is I often forget, or don't appreciate, that this cathedral was built in 1378 to honour St. Elisabeth of Hungary. Many of the people in this region are deeply affect by Košice becoming part of Czechoslovakia in 1918 and then Slovak Republic in 1993.
Mark G — Google review
A place where you connect the old architecture with new modern architecture… an old building next a new one… old narrow road connecting new streets… a place where you want to spend time in … then you have the main street with cafes and restaurants along both sides..
S. M — Google review
An outstandingly beautiful Gothic cathedral, right in the center of Kosice. It is the largest cathedral in Slovakia and it can be visited for free. For €3 you can visit the cathedral bell tower, which is a steep and narrow climb that starts outside of the main entrance to the cathedral.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review
St. Elisabeth Cathedral is a breathtaking masterpiece of Gothic architecture and the crown jewel of Košice. What makes the experience truly magical is the way sunlight filters through the stained-glass windows, casting vibrant colors across the stone walls and floor. The interplay of light and shadow creates a peaceful, almost sacred atmosphere that invites reflection. It's a must-see for anyone visiting the city!

Fountain
The Singing Fountain in Kosice is a captivating water feature located in the heart of the city. It offers a mesmerizing display of dancing jets, music, and colorful illuminations, creating a magical spectacle that captivates both locals and visitors. The fountain performs every hour, choreographing its water show to the pulse of bells from St. Elizabeth's Cathedral or popular music like The Beatles.
The Singing Fountain in Košice is a beautiful and relaxing spot. The colorful lights and water synchronized with music create a magical atmosphere, especially at night. A must-see in the city!
Misha S — Google review
Lovely show, it seems to keep going all evening! Nice selection of quite random songs too, all a bit of fun.
Mike — Google review
A stunning fountain both in the day and at night, when the lights start about 6pm. So lovely to just sit and listen to the music with the mesmirising water. Also seeing families and children enjoy it so much.
Gillian G — Google review
In Košice, the Singing Fountain on Hlavná Street is such a nice spot — perfect for summer refreshment and good times. I spent so much time here with Tomi: the water jets, music, playful energy, kids everywhere, just full of life and positivity. The fountain isn’t just beautiful, it’s fun: we’d sit nearby, relax, watch the show, hear laughter, and feel the city breathe. Interesting fact: The Singing Fountain was built in 1986, making it the oldest “singing fountain” in the former Czechoslovakia.
Svetlana M — Google review
The singing fountain is a great water-feature, complete with a light-show and musical background. Unfortunately it doesn't always work and there's no published schedule. We weren't lucky enough to see the light show.
Liviu-Cristian M — Google review
Fun attraction in the center of Kosice. Seems to be active from 10am and it's illuminated after dark.

A great place to sit and eat lunch and chill on a summer's day, probably best experienced in the darker hours for full effect bonus of coloured lighting in the fountains of water 👍💯👌

I went to the Old Town Historic Center Tourist Center. It was very nice. Emma helped me. She was very kind and helped me with my plan. I enjoyed the cathedrals immersive experience, I watched it several times. All art and artifacts are created by local artisans and I liked this very much. I recommend buying all souvenirs and gifts here. I asked very specific questions to Emma and she was knowledgeable and helpful. Thank you Kosice! Donna

Košice Zoo

Mentioned on
13 lists
Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Košice, the Košice Zoo is a sprawling haven for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. This expansive zoo, one of the largest in Europe, specializes primarily in European and Asian wildlife. Visitors can meander along wooded paths that connect various exhibits where animals roam freely in environments designed to mimic their natural habitats. From playful seals splashing around in an artificial pond to charming llamas and friendly donkeys, there's a delightful variety of creatures to encounter.
It's a relly big Zoo, if you want to go there, you have to make some extra hour for yourself. If you are not with children, the walk in the zoo is 3 hours, and if you are with children... I can't imagine. The zoo is maintained, and the animals are not overcrowded. I think it's a big tour with animals. I recommend it, but!!! The toilet near the entrance is tragic, disgusting and broke. Don't go there.
Nehem1988 — Google review
I went here with my family and it was so cool seeing animals I had never seen in my life. The zoo was so big with so many animals to see. I liked the little food outlet there which we stopped by for some food and a Kofola. The peacock at the entrance was nice for taking photos but got slightly aggressive towards the end and even ran at a young g boy! 😲😅 I especially liked the Meerkats and how one would stay guard while the others did all sorts of random things. Unfortunately we didn’t see the Lynx and the wolfs weren’t there at the moment. Amazing overall and would definitely go again.
Tobias — Google review
Really good for kids , little boring for adults . Price not so bad . You need to Pay for car park 3 euros a day on top of entrance ticket. Zoo is located about 15 min drive from centrum of Kosice.
Arkadiusz — Google review
We could have certainly spent more time here. There was plenty of paid parking for the zoo and other nearby attractions, including a summer bobsled. The price to enter the zoo varies on the age of the visitor, the month, and whether you want to visit the DinoPark. We decided not to see the DinoPark and for two adults, and our 11 year old it was €30.00. Although, confusingly, had we had an extra child it would have cost us less. Anyhow, as a one off, it was worth it. There were many animals that we haven't seen in other European Zoos. The enclosures seemed a bit small but this selfishly provided a much better chance of seeing the animals. Parts of the zoo are on substantial slopes and I did see visitors with pushchairs struggling to get around. There were a number of stalls and a cafe offering food and refreshments, plenty of picnic benches and an abundance of wasps.
Mark G — Google review
The Zoo itself is very big and you will do a lot of walking and conquer some small hills as the pavilions for various animals are not so close. You will find all the main animals, that your kids are looking for. I would add but more signs on where the animals are exactly located. The environment is very nice and feels like being in the forest. Recommending checking when they feed the animals with commentary as this is very nice to see and you get interesting information. The Zoo is quite remote from the Košice. Don't rely on the navigation as it can take you through not very much maintained roads, although appearing the shortest way.
Lukas T — Google review
The zoo was one of the best I've ever been to and it had a bunch of exotic animals that I've never seen before with my own eyes. I was also happy with the directions given by the park, because they were somewhat reliable and didn't require any knowledge of Slovakian to understand. The only negative things about the park are that most of the restaurants are closed and the distances between the different habitats are long.
Lauri T — Google review
It is always pleasure to visit this place :) No matter how full parking is there is always space for you to get around playground, animals, coffee or Dino park. The best this time, was to see small bears to fight and one of them even climbed the tree. We recommend to take some vehicles if you are with kids 🛴😊
Marianna V — Google review
The Zoo is a wonderful place for the whole family. I do recommend visiting the Dinopark if you have a little fan of the dinosaurs.

I’ve visited the Basilica of St. Giles in Bardejov twice during my tours of Slovakia, and it never fails to impress. The Gothic medieval architecture is absolutely stunning, and the church is incredibly well-maintained. The intricate stained glass windows and the beautiful altar add to the rich history and spiritual atmosphere of the place. There’s a definite sense of peace and positivity when you're inside. The basilica is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, it's a true gem of medieval Slovakia. If you appreciate history and architecture, this basilica is a must-see!
Mike — Google review
A very beautiful basilica, worth a visit. Payment for entrance is in cash only.
Svetlana F — Google review
They seem to have problems with foreigners here as I see on reviews below,. We wanted to buy 3 tickets and the man was lovely, torn the tickets out and asked for €9. Till I got my wallet oversized lady pipped out of the corner - not too sure what was her role - I guess judge -claiming our outfit is not to her liking - naked shoulders 30°C and we are on holidays coming from little to non judgemental country as who is wearing what. To the Church management: Please have the dress code requirement written down. To the lady who didn't allow us enter the church and by her action show in real life to my children 11 and 16 how Christian acts. Sadly my children will remember that for years to come for all the wrong reasons. Jesus would not be proud of you. “I give you a new commandment. Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another everybody will know that you're my true followers" God is Love.
Andrea S — Google review
Climbing the tower here would probably be the only good way to see the entire market square at once and catch it entirely in the photo* *I said "would" instad of "it is" because the viewpoint is surrounded by a net, which will mess up your photos, as seen below.
Dzbanov — Google review
Beautiful church and great view on the square from the tower. The inside of the church was smaller than I expected. The tower has a very narrow stairway to go up (and down). Usually not too crowded.
Jesper B — Google review
Beautiful historic church in the middle of the town square, stunning inside and has 2 old bells just outside that are a few hundred years old with history written in English and Slovak. Well worth popping in and soaking up the history.
Daniel D — Google review
A wonderful medieval church with astounding artwork, including paintings, woodwork and stone carving.
Daniel K — Google review
Beautiful basilica. Worthy of a day trip to visit (plus visit the surrounding city square). Buy the complete set of tickets so you can visit the bell tower and take photos. The climb up the tower is somewhat sketch (but do it anyway for the views). Be aware that the bells may sound without warning so be prepared to cover your ears completely to avoid hearing damage.

Beautiful place which is always wort of visiting. Professional guide and beautiful garden 🪴 accessible also without having needed to buy an entrance ticket 🎫. Warmly recommended.
Radim H — Google review
I was amazed at the detail and original condition of the castle's furnishings. with a tour guide in Hungarian approx. 1 hour to walk around the castle. This was my best experience visiting a castle, the environment is so detailed.
Miklos F — Google review
(+) This castle is exceptionally beautiful with its magical English landscape park, paintings, trophies and interior design. The guests can gain insight into the region's and the Andrássy family's rich history. I think that the whole experience evokes the atmosphere of Sándor Márai's novel, The Candles Burn Till the End. (-) However, I couldn't pay by card at the shop, there was no time to really enjoy the exhibition since we had to rush with a group, and almost none of the exhibited pieces have Hungarian (altough the castle is a Hungarian heritage) or even English description. After all, it was absolutely worth a visit and take a look, but the maintainer could make progress through some changes.
Áron T — Google review
A luxurious castle with a well-preserved interior. The excursion was with a very pleasant guide. There are souvenir shops and cafes on site. Paid parking (€4/day) right next to the castle.

(Translated by Google) What a place...the views, the amazing hiking and biking trails. You'll find the call of nature here. It's a place with few tourists. There's something for everyone. It's worth visiting just to commune with nature. There's a large, free parking lot near the gondola lift. However, if you're stubborn and want to park right at the door, you'll have to pay for that pleasure. The price for entering the viewing platform (the views are the same without actually climbing it 🤣) and the ascent and descent is a bit too high for me - 69 złoty per person. I recommend it to anyone who loves mountains of varying heights 😉 (Original) Co za miejsce...widoki, szalone wyprawy piesze i rowerowe. Tu znajdziesz zew natury.

The Ľubovňa Castle

Castle built in the 13th c. & reconstructed in the 17th c., with guided tours & museum exhibits.
Beautiful castle dating back to late 13th century with renovations in gothic ressenance and barroque, the castle is relatively big and is fairly well preserved and documented and a beautifull scenary for Tatry moutains and Pieniny this alongside the winter snow and theme which was present during my visit added positively to the visit.

Very impressive castle with a very interesting history. Nice little outdoor museum with wooden buildings from the area next to it. Definitely well worth a stop.

The Ľubovňa Castle (Ľubovniansky hrad) is a stunning medieval fortress perched above the town of Stará Ľubovňa in northern Slovakia. Built in the 13th century, it offers a captivating glimpse into Central European history, blending Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements. Visitors can explore richly furnished rooms, a tower with panoramic views, and even a dungeon. The adjacent open-air museum showcases traditional Slovak village life. The castle’s role in regional politics, including its time under Polish administration, adds to its historical allure. Well-preserved and engagingly presented, Ľubovňa Castle is a must-visit destination for history lovers and cultural travelers alike.
Gábor M — Google review
Such a lovely castle, with so much history. I was visiting it first time with school 25 years ago, so naturaly I don't remember anyhing from back then. At the entrance we received a small map with a tip that we don't have to follow numbers in order to enjoy the exposition. All was very well marked, to my surprise even some places were accessible, like cellar with steep steps. One enters on one side, walks through short, but dark and damp corridor and exits at other side. At number 13 - tower - we had the most amazing view. Getting there was at some moments claustrophobes nightmare, but we continued and were rewarded. At number 9 there is a piano, that is so immensly out of tune, that I couldn't play anything. Chapen at no 10 was very nice, we donated some coins for the castle repair. The mirror was not working, so at least we took a selfie. It takes about an hour an half to go through the whole castle, we liked video of how the castle was build (no 14). At no 17 we wrote into the book how we liked it. Personal recommendation is to wear proper shoes. Getting to the castle is nice and paved, but inside some steps and stones can be dangerous. If you need a cane for walking, definitely take it.

Kežmarok Castle (Kežmarský hrad) is one of the best-preserved urban castles in Slovakia. It’s located right in the heart of the town of Kežmarok, at the foot of the High Tatras. The castle dates back to the 15th century and was built on the site of an earlier Gothic church. Over the centuries, it served various roles – defensive, residential, and administrative – and was owned by wealthy townspeople and nobility. Architecturally, the castle has a compact structure with corner towers and a central courtyard surrounded by solid walls. It has the character of a fortress but still retains an elegant appearance, making it quite photogenic. From the outside, it looks impressive – light-colored walls, red-tiled roofs, and surrounding greenery create a beautiful contrast. Visitors can enter the courtyard and, with a guided tour, explore some of the museum exhibitions inside. The castle houses displays related to the history of the Spiš region, medieval weaponry, and everyday life in centuries past. Even if you don’t go inside, it’s worth stopping by just to admire the structure and atmosphere from the outside.

A castle converted into a chateau that we could only see from the park, because as tourists we hadn´t looked up some information beforehand and we hadn´t known there was a fair going on and we didn't want to go to it. So next time. The place is beautiful. :-)

If you visit the castle you need to pay for the tour, but it’s definitely worth it and not expensive. So many interesting things, super bit of local history. Town is good, but quiet on a Sunday. Recommend!

Unfortunately close at the weekends out of the season! ((September to June) We were there at weekend and facing with No tourist friendly situation! All the museums, churches and tourist attractions was closed. However the old town is nice. There is no place for food or coffee. Sad! Train and bus transport is OK.
Gabor L — Google review
One of the best surviving town castles in Slovakia. It houses several recently finally aged exhibitions, including that of the medieval weaponry, Imre Thököly, a pharmacy and the history of the tourism in Hungary and Slovakia. The castle itself is fantastic, and the interiors only increase the overall experience. The chapel is especially worth visiting.
Maxim M — Google review
The castle outside was good and it is positive that there was a small café as well on the yard. However it cannot be visited individually, only with guidance, which means it cannot be visited any time you wish. So unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to see the museum part.

Very interesting and quiet place with much to see in the castle together with great views of the old town.

Pieniny National Park is a picturesque and mountainous nature park offering hiking, cycling trails, and rafting opportunities. The low mountains with rocky hilltops are covered in forests, providing abundant flora and fauna for hikers to explore. Additionally, the park offers day trips to see the castles in Czorsztyn and Niedzica. Visitors can enjoy biking along the river or opt for an adventurous rafting experience down Dunajec River Gorge.
Beautiful nature, forests and river ! We went for a family trip with 2 kids. We preffered biking rather then rafting. It's more active and you can stop your bike whenever you like to take pictures of this beautiful park. The road next to the river it's perfect for biking ! We really highly recommend it !!

The mountains. I love them and especially The Pieniny Mountains. There are small but so much picturesque and beautiful. It is easy to start walking in Poland and end up in the cosy and tasty Slovak restaurant on the other side of the border.

Belianska Cave

Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Nestled in the stunning Tatra Mountains of Slovakia, Belianska Cave is a remarkable natural wonder that offers guided tours for visitors. The cave features impressive stalactites, lakes, waterfalls, and even seasonal music shows. However, it's important to note that the cave can be quite cool and humid inside, so dressing warmly and wearing appropriate footwear is recommended.
A wonderful and extensive flowstone cave. It is amazing how versatile all the different areas are. It is full of natural wonders. Be at least 30 minutes earlier due you have to hike up a semi steep path which takes between 15 and 25 minutes depending on your condition. Please have good shoes with you like hiking shoes due some parts might be too slippery just with sneakers. The tour is guided only with slowakian or polish language. But there are either electronic or printed tour guides in various other languages available. If you want to take pictures, you have to pay 10€ extra. But it is worth to have your own memories on photos by your own.
Werner ( — Google review
An impressive and unforgettable experience! Belianska Cave truly exceeded my expectations. The tour is over 1 km long and takes about 70 minutes, with numerous steps and noticeable elevation changes throughout the route. The cave’s long corridors and dramatic formations are fascinating, and it’s amazing to think that it was only discovered in the early 1800s. I found it particularly interesting that before the war, visitors navigated the cave via wooden staircases and entirely at their own risk — a glimpse into how much things have changed! The tour guide was good and funny (a woman) and clearly passionate, although there was no English-speaking option available — just printed materials in Polish and Slovak. Still, if you’re a cave enthusiast, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended.
Magdalena C — Google review
This cave is definitely worth a visit — the guided tour lasts about 70 minutes and the experience is truly unforgettable. You can leave your car at the lower parking lot (€7 or €5 depending on the spot), and then hike uphill for about 30 minutes — the trail is steep in some parts, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. Tours start every hour, but in high season they may run every 20–30 minutes. Entrance is €14 per person, with an additional €10 fee if you want to take photos — don’t skip it, it’s absolutely worth it! Cards are accepted. Our guide — a young guy with longer hair — was super friendly and funny, which made the trip even more enjoyable. Inside the cave, you’ll climb over 860 stairs, and the groups are about 30 people each, so you need to keep up a decent pace. All in all, an excellent experience!
Kamila E — Google review
Belianska cave is one of the most visited accessible caves in Slovakia. In addition to bizarre rock shapes, it is known for its abundant calcite sinter filling. Although interest in the natural attractions of the cave has persisted for more than 125 years, the laws of its creation have not been fully clarified until now. It is very important to take into account (it is not written anywhere) that the road from the parking lot to the entrance of the cave is a very steep climb that takes about 40 minutes. Inside the cave, there are 866 steps that must be taken into account, especially for people who have difficulty walking. An absolutely impressive cave. The length of the tour is about 70 minutes. Please note, entry only during guided tour hours.
Eddy T — Google review
Warning: Don’t look at the one star reviews for this place. They’re all so stupid. Some examples. It’s cold. What did you think it was going to be?! It’s a cave not a beach in Hawaii. The tour was in Slovak. Hmmmm… Where is this cave located? In Slovakia!!! Who would have thought that a place in Slovakia would have tours in that language. There were a lot of stairs. You do realise caves are formed naturally. Not everything revolves around you and the cave isn’t going to make itself flat just because of you. Of course there is going to be stairs involved. Seriously use some common sense people. Unfortunately there are more examples but I don’t want to elevate my heart rate too much. Onto the actual review: The tour guide was pretty funny. We were listening to the tour in Slovakian but there was also Polish audio from speakers in the cave system. The lights were placed really well and illuminated the cave nicely. I liked the concert part at the end which played music and lights turned on and off. I just wish the tune could’ve been better 😂 I don’t know how to phrase this but be warned of the steep climb there. If you can’t manage the climb there, then probably don’t bother going in the caves. Give yourself enough time to get up. Another tip is to go during a time that is less busy because apparently the queues can get quite long. Luckily when I went during a school day I think, there was no queue at all! The annoying thing was that taking photos and videos cost €10. €10! That’s a scam. No one in my group bought it yet everyone was taking pictures. They need to lower that price.
Tobias — Google review
Great experience! One piece of advice. Arrive at least 30-40 minutes before your scheduled tour . There is a 1100m walk uphill from the nearest parking and it might be tiresome.
Krzysztof B — Google review
You need to walk for half an our, up to the cave. Inside will take around 1 hour 10 minutes.
Arpad R — Google review
Hike up to the cave is not easy, but as the guide said, if you are not able to do it, you won't be able to walk the cave... But the cave itself is stunning and our guide was great! If you have got good fitness, I totally recommend it!

Štrbské Pleso is a stunning glacial lake nestled amidst a picturesque mountain setting, offering visitors the chance to explore resorts and take leisurely strolls along its waterfront hiking trail. Comparable to Morskie Oko, although smaller in size, it boasts crystal-clear waters and is surrounded by majestic mountains. While it may get crowded during peak season, there are plenty of souvenir shops and opportunities for activities such as boating and canoeing.
Nice walk around the lake and around the town. Nice old buildings and great views from the lake. Busy with visitors but as expected. Worth the trip on the train from Tatranska Lomnica for a round trip all day fare if only 4€. Much cheaper than parking.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
14th century Gothic castle built on an outcrop overlooking Lake Czorsztyn & iconic symbol of Poland.
Very nice place to spend a relaxing day with family and friends. There is a parking place at the entrance There are some places around where you can eat or drink something. Souvenir shop at the ticket location Slovakian border 10 min away where you can drive to check out near by towns as well. views are incredible
Filip M — Google review
A nice castle that can be explored quite quickly on a self-guided tour. It didn’t offer anything particularly unique, but the castle and surroundings are beautiful – from the walls you can see Czorsztyn Castle across the reservoir, and you can also reach it by boat. The area around the castle is full of stalls and attractions. Unfortunately, the charm of the place is spoiled by the sheer number of tourists – at times it feels literally shoulder to shoulder.
Jozef Š — Google review
Amazing place. There is a big parking lot right in front of the fortress. There is also a toilet there if you need one, I would suggest using it before going in as there are no toilets in the fortress. The fortress is beautiful and kept in good shape! You get a plan before going in so you know where you are. You'll need around one hour for the visit and when youre done, you can walk across the bridge to a nice house in a small forest area. There you can rest outside or buy something from the nice old lady there! Worth seeing!
Isabela R — Google review
Excellent castle and grounds, well worth the visit. There is a lot of steps inside so if you're not so good with steps then might not be for you. Great views from the top of the reservoir and surrounding areas The only thing that let's it down is graffiti in pretty much every area including the walls of the castle upon the entrance. So sad to see.
Arran P — Google review
The parking is too expensive , to start with, as it is anyway an attraction reached mostly by car. They rob you with parking fees in many such places. The castle looks superb among the trees in top of the lake. The entry ticket is also expensive. There are around 15 rooms. All are recreated. The displays are very outdated, information is very limited. Definitely not worth the price, but castles are more expensive attractions. You have to pay for toilet even if you visited the castle!
SVC — Google review
The castle is very nice although it’s a bit small compared to normal castles in Poland. Yet it has very nice view and around 13 rooms to be visited with English explanations. In the entrance you need to ask for English booklet. If you go a bit late, you will come across a huge crowd yet if you go earlier it’s pretty empty.

Czorsztyn Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Czorsztyn Castle, a 15th-century ruin, offers a small exhibition and stunning views of the river valley. It is located near Czorsztyn Lake, an artificial body of water created by a dam on the Dunajec River. The castle's picturesque location provides great photo opportunities and panoramic views of the lake. While it is in ruins and not fully renovated, it still offers an interesting glimpse into its history.
Absolutely breathtaking views from the castle!!! One of my favourite trips around the area. Highly recommend. Entrance to the castle was very cheap as well, you can press a coin you can keep as well, much fun

The view is amazing over the lake but its ok to visit if you are near by, if you are a person who appreciates the history for sure. But as a person who visited a lot of castles and enjoys them I dont think its worth the trip.
Abdullah M — Google review
Wonderful place to visit but be prepared for long walk and toilets are outside the castle.
Saeed B — Google review
An impressive ruin located opposite Niedzica, above the reservoir. However, the interior doesn’t offer that much to see. The small parking lot next to the castle is insufficient, but you can park on a large, uneven grassy area – an alternative paid parking option. From there, it’s just a short walk to the ticket booth, followed by about 5 minutes walk and downhill to the castle, which is less enjoyable on the way back.
Jozef Š — Google review
Worth visiting. nice views and full of historic information The walk way to the castle is tiring
Abu Y — Google review
There’s a fence from both sides of the castle entrance , so you can’t take a walk around the castle. Guy collecting the parking fee was super greedy - he asked for 3€ even though the castle was already closed and he left 10mins later (I found empty and at that time already free parking 100 meters back the road.) The castle looks nice from the distance, but I’m not sure if it is worth going inside.

Wieliczka Salt Mine

Historical place

Located on the outskirts of Krakow in South Poland, the Wieliczka Salt Mine is a 13th-century UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest and most stunning salt mines globally. It features underground tunnels, chapels, chambers, saline lakes, and offers themed tours suitable for all ages. The mine showcases an interactive history of medieval European mining techniques and houses remarkable artworks hundreds of meters below ground.
It was absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend visiting! The tour lasts about 2–3 hours and is split into two parts: the salt mine itself and a museum tour afterwards. You can skip the museum if you’re tired. I paid 143 Zł, which I think is totally fair for such a unique experience. The tour guide was fantastic—very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and open. There’s a lot of walking and many stairs,😂 so I’d recommend comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for moving around. It’s definitely suitable for children above a certain age and for older visitors as long as they’re fairly mobile, but it’s not ideal for anyone with limited mobility. As for the highlights: the first massive hall was breathtaking, the two underground lakes were stunning, the underground church was on another level, and the final hall left me completely amazed. All in all, I learned so much that day and had an unforgettable adventure. An absolute must-see!
SAKI — Google review
An absolutely incredible experience and one of the real highlights of our trip. The Wieliczka Salt Mine completely exceeded expectations. It’s vast, beautifully lit and full of fascinating history. The scale of it is hard to take in until you’re actually down there, walking through the tunnels and chambers carved entirely from salt. The guided tour was excellent, with just the right mix of facts, humour and storytelling. The underground chapels and sculptures are astonishing, and it’s amazing to think they were all hand carved by miners. Every turn reveals something unexpected, from chandeliers made of salt crystals to huge caverns that feel almost otherworldly. It’s well organised, easy to reach from Krakow, and surprisingly comfortable even deep underground. I’d recommend it to anyone. It’s one of those rare places that truly lives up to the hype.
Charlotte T — Google review
A must when visiting Krakow. We booked through Krakow Direct and were picked up/dropped off at our hotel for the tour. Short walk across road to the Salt Mines where Justine, our tour guide was superb and witty. There are lots and lots and lots of steps to go down. Thankfully you don't have to walk back up! Such a marvel of human achievement from centuries ago. The sheer size of this place is mind blowing. To think tourists only get to see less than 2% of it is difficult to comprehend. You will need comfortable shoes and it can get warm with all the walking. The chapels are breathtaking and the sculptures are fantastic. Truly worth a visit and at several points along the tour you can purchase memorabilia which is really well priced which is unusual for a tourist attraction. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!
Damien D — Google review
My wife and I visited the salt mine in early October. It is an awe-inspiring place. We would highly recommend a visit. The history is fascinating and the cathedral is spectacular. Our guide, Natalie, was excellent. She was positive, engaging, insightful, and energetic. We had an amazing and memorable time. The tour is quite long (2+ hours) and you do walk over 3 km, descending down through the mine over 100 meters by a mix of ramps and stairs. Good news, you take an elevator back up.
David D — Google review
Impressive mines Yes the mines are absolutely incredible when you consider the engineering and work it took to carve out all those passageways and huge underground halls. Then there's the intricate statues sculpted out of the salt which are incredible. There are also natural wonders such as the underground lakes. You can easily spend up to a day there if the guides would only allow you - but with the crowds they want to move people along. You NEED the guides otherwise you'd get lost in the labyrinth. You are provided with headphones so you can always hear what they're saying. We had Nicholas - he was a lovely guy, but .... could talk less, if I'm honest. At one stage he offered us the option to talk more or talk less. I would have opted for less, but people were too nice/polite and didn't want to hurt his feelings so opted for more. So after a lot of his monotone warbling (sorry Nicholas) I just removed the headphones and took in the beauty of the place for myself. Well worth seeing though
Gavin — Google review
Very interesting and impressive tour. Multiple huge caverns made for a rather different underground experience to all the caves I've previously been in. We even had a nice meal in the underground restaurant before heading back to the surface.
Richard — Google review
I really enjoyed the tour, good information. Amazing views (inside 😄), I can't describe it and the pictures don't do it any justice. The mine is absolutely amazing, the size, the beauty, the effort and detail on the handcrafted figures, everything really. Some of the rooms you enter are just jaw dropping, yout mind just goes to wonder how did someone build this. The temperature is really nice inside, 14-17c at all times, I was happy in a t-shirt but some people had light jackets on. There are loads of gift shops at the exit and they sell everything that the underground ones do, so unless you want to carry bags throughout the tour, buy your gifts at the exit. I tried the restaurant before the return to the surface and it was great. Good food and good quantity. I will be returning in the future. For management, I just have two suggestions...One, please try to get some radio relays in the tunnels as the signal was very bad of you were in the back of the tour group. Two, bigger gaps between tours would be great, just to give more time to see some of the areas in more detail. But overall amazing.
Fabio C — Google review
While the salt mine is interesting to visit and quite impressive with its man-made chambers, corridors and chapels, the overall experience is a 'hit and miss' at best. As you can only visit on an organised tour, a lot depends on the guide you'll get. We went on a pre-booked English-language tour (they start every 30 min) and were very unlucky with our guide. He spoke a very basic, heavily accented, broken English, which was hard to follow and at times bordering on comical. His commentary was devoid of substance and repetitive, mostly stating the obvious. We didn't learn anything interesting about the mine, its history or its current use. Most of the 'installations' were dated and very kitchy. The tour was rushed, with large groups of tourists constantly encroaching on each other's space. In summary: was it interesting? Yes. Was it worth the effort and money? Not so sure.

Nestled in the picturesque southern region of Poland, Babia Góra National Park is a captivating nature reserve that beckons outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Dominated by the majestic Babia Góra mountain, which rises to 1,725 meters, this park offers an array of hiking trails that wind through lush forests and stunning landscapes. Accessible from charming mountain towns like Zawoja and Zywiec, it serves as a gateway to adventure for those exploring Lesser Poland Voivodeship.
We started our hike at 3am from the parking near the entrance to the national. Park. Arriving at the summit for sunrise was an amazing experience. Beautiful views and landscape. When going back down we stopped at the shelter for breakfast and coffee und relax in the sun. I would recommend going early because when we arrived back at the parking lot around 11 it started to become realy crowded.

Loved hiking in Babia Gora! The routes are difficult, but nothing insurmountable. There is an entrance fee of 5zl, but the routes are well taken care of. There is one cabin half way up where you can have a meal and use the restroom. There are also a couple of rooms/beds to stay over for the night, but they have to be booked in advance. Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory

Specialty Museums
Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory, located in the old industrial district between Podgorze and Kazimierz, is a museum that pays homage to the remarkable courage of Oskar Schindler during the Nazi occupation of Krakow. The factory, immortalized in Steven Spielberg's film 'Schindler's List,' was where over 1,200 Jews were saved from concentration camps through employment.
This guided tour was only a little about Schindler as it walks you through the story of Poland in WW2 from different perspectives. Very informative and the hour and a half tour was the perfect length. Our guide spoke clearly and concisely (in English) and was very engaging as she told this fascinating story. We booked tickets and tour online which was a great choice: we skipped the long queue out front and were ushered inside first when our time came. I highly recommend this tour and the guide is so worth it. We definitely would not have got the depth of understanding if we’d gone in on our own. I was deeply moved at various points; this is an experience I will not forget.
Kelly C — Google review
We visited Schindlers factory on rhe first day of our trip to Krakow. We had been in the city about 10 years ago and missed it then so wanted to make sure we got there this time. Firstly this is less a tour of Oskar Schindler's factory anf more a WW2 museum that just happens to be in the same building that Oskar Schindler happened to use. There isnt a lot about Schindler and his workers. Most of it is about the war in Krakow and Poland. Very informative but something you need to know if you are specifically going to see the factory from the film. If you are going with that in mind you may be disappointed. But if you want to learn about WW2 in Krakow then this will be the place for you. Another tip. Book in advance and get a skip the queue ticket. We didnt and when we joined the queue it didnt seem too long maybe 100 people in front of us. It took over 2 hours to get in. Every ten or fifteen minutes around 10 people would get in. Meanwhile dozens got in via skip the queue in the same time. So dont queue. Book a skip the queue tour. But that said we enjoyed the visit and would highly recommend it.
Colm F — Google review
An excellent museum that covers the entire lived history of the Jews in Krakow during the Nazi regime, the emergence of Oskar Schindler and his amazing role in saving thousands of them. Excellent displays, wonderful recreations and maps and documents. Very poignant. Very good.
Anurakshat G — Google review
A must visit. Get here early, as there was a queue at opening. The permanent exhibition is great, and you go around the actual factory. If you remember the film, you'll see the iconic entrance/ staircase. Ignore the website about ticket availability and the sign on the door. Worth the queue time.

A must see , made better by watching the fantastic Schindler's List to get an additional appreciate of events. Tour guide (via Get Your Guide) was informative and knowledgeable. Earphones provided with this program and skip the queue also, as your booked in at a certain Time
Emmet507 — Google review
Really interesting museum with lots of information and exhibits. We queued on the day, morning, to get entry. They were letting people in 10 at a time. Took us about 30 mins to get in - the queue was much bigger in the afternoon. The biggest downside to the museum is the sheer amount of tours going through it. Some of the corridors are too narrow for 20 ppl+ groups to just stand around and listen to a guide. If you get caught behind one group it’s a nightmare to get past. Maybe consider limiting the amount of group tours passing through.
Andrew G — Google review
Very atmospheric and well thought out. Seeing the old factory turned into a museum and the history within is truly like time travel. Highly recommend getting tickets and a reservation in advanced; and if you do, do not wait outside with the others, simply walk in within your scheduled tour time. My only gripe with the experience is the annoying tour groups you have to squeeze through in the exhibit. Not only can they block your way, but the actual museum does not make a profit from these people! Why the museum has not address this is unknown but the staff there definitely share the sentiment that something should be done about these groups.

Booked tickets via their website before we travelled to Krakow. You can risk queuing but it's nice to have piece of mind that to are assured a slot. We booked an English speaking tour of the factory. The tour/factory is a deep dive into Krakow's role in WW2, not just about Oscar Schindler. It's a fantastic, immersive museum with well-thought out exhibits. It takes you on a journey through the war years. Absolutely recommend the museum. The tour was great for us, but if you want to spend time reading all the exhibits then do it without a guide.

Kazimierz The Former Jewish District

Historic Walking Areas
Neighborhoods
Kazimierz, the former Jewish district of Krakow, has a rich history dating back to the 14th century when Jewish people first settled in this area. The architecture here is notably different from the main city and reflects centuries of coexistence between Catholics and Jews. Visitors can explore significant historical sites such as King Kazimierz's legacy, St. Stanislaus' well, remnants of the original ghetto wall, and Schindler's factory.
This is a wonderful district to stay in, I would recommend staying here instead of the city centre. I enjoyed old streets, Jewish shops, cafes. Very authentic and colorful.

This is a very pretty area of the city and not too far to walk from the Old City. It has a tragic history and there are lots of monuments and information boards detailing the events of the 1940's and later that caused the Jewish population to plummet so dramatically. I walked around one evening to take some photos and it was quiet and felt safe although it is more run down and has graffiti and litter that you don't see in the Old City. Lots of nice cafes too!

We took a golf buggy tour around Kazimierz and the Getto with Romeo and his wife who were excellent guides taking us to some very interesting places and telling us all about the history including all about King Kazimierz and Ester, St Stanislaus and visiting his well ,the war and showing us part of the original getto wall and schindler's factory to name just a few. This area of Krakow is a must visit with so much history and its also a very lively area with no end of places to eat and drink.

Perched on a hilltop, the Wawel Royal Castle-State Art Collection in Krakow boasts a rich history dating back to the 14th century. Overlooking the medieval city and Vistula River, it holds great significance for Poles, symbolizing their country's past glory under powerful monarchs. Despite no longer serving as a royal residence, it remains a unifying symbol for the Polish people.
The Wawel Royal Castle, on the Wawel Hill, is one the most, historically and culturally, important sites in Poland. Used to be the residence of kings in the past, the castle is now one very important art museum. You need 4-5 hours to visit all chambers and see all the art exhibits. A collection of paintings, prints, sculpture, textiles, tapestry, arms and armor, ceramics.. There is an entrance fee for the most rooms, but there are some parts you can visit for free. Do not miss a walk around the hill, it's truly fantastic if the weather is good!

Wawel Royal Castle is a beautiful trip that is definitely worth the visit! The architecture is impressive and full of history, offering an enriching cultural experience. Furthermore, its location provides a beautiful view of the river Vistula, perfect for photos and relaxation. To complete the visit, make sure to see the famous Wawel Dragon statue, which, to everyone's delight, breathes fire every 10 minutes! It's a fun detail that appeals to all ages. The attraction is very well maintained, and the whole complex is a must-see tourist spot in Poland.

Visiting the Wawel Royal Castle–State Art Collection is an unforgettable experience that beautifully blends art, architecture, and history. Perched above the Vistula River, the castle offers breathtaking views of Kraków and an atmosphere that feels almost timeless. Every corner of the complex tells a story — from the grand royal chambers to the intricate tapestries and stunning Renaissance courtyards. The State Art Collection is incredibly well curated, showcasing exquisite works that highlight Poland’s royal heritage and artistic legacy. The Crown Treasury and Armoury, in particular, are a must-see for anyone interested in medieval craftsmanship and regal splendor. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, eager to share insights and answer questions, making the experience even more enriching. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and there’s plenty of space to wander, reflect, and take in the history that surrounds you. Whether you’re an art lover, a history enthusiast, or simply a traveler in search of beauty and culture, Wawel Castle is an absolute gem — a true symbol of Poland’s enduring spirit and elegance.

The Wawel Royal Castle Gardens in Kraków are a beautifully restored part of Poland’s most iconic historic site. Nestled on Wawel Hill, the gardens offer a serene escape from the city, with meticulously arranged flower beds, manicured lawns, and stunning views over the Vistula River. They blend Renaissance design with natural charm, evoking the elegance of royal life while maintaining a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere. The State Art Collection housed within Wawel Castle is equally impressive. It features masterpieces of European art, exquisite tapestries from the 16th century, royal portraits, and priceless artifacts from Poland’s regal past. Highlights include the famous Flemish tapestries commissioned by King Sigismund II Augustus and an exceptional collection of Renaissance and Baroque art. Together, the gardens and the art collection make Wawel not only a symbol of Polish heritage but also a living museum of art, architecture, and nature — a must-see for any visitor to Kraków!

This is a very impressive castle. We booked a tour so that we could learn a lot, but there is so much to see that the tour felt kind of fast. Book based on your personal preference - if you wish to linger maybe go with an audio guide. It’s very interesting and a wonderful place to visit.

A must do if you're visiting Kraków. The exterior grounds themselves are free to roam as you please, you will only need to pay to access the exhibitions inside the interior rooms of the castle. I will advise you that the tickets for the cathedral and rest of the castle attractions are sold in separate ticket booths. These tickets booths are clearly signposted however so you should have no issue in getting around. Also you must buy individual tickets for each of the attractions that you wish to visit during your time at the castle. All in all, it's a great day out for all the family and you can spend several hours here getting to see all of the great exhibits that are on display. There are also ample facilities for food, storing bags and toilets (which you can use your entrance ticket to access for free).

This is by far the most impressive castle I saw in Poland and it's huge. Divided by multiple sections, I strongly encourage you visit the jewels and weapons section and the 2nd floor, but if you hace time, everything is worth checking! Absolutely beautiful works of art renovated perfectly or kept pristine, an audioguide is strongly recommended so you can understand more the context behind some of the things. The dragon's den I considered it to be Meh, only visit it at the end upon exit if you want, but truth be told you won't waste much if you skip it. Gardens are beautiful albeit small. You'll need to leave your luggage upon visiting, but it's free storage so more than encouraged. A must see if you visit Kraków

Wawel Castle is without doubt one of the most impressive and historically important sites in Kraków, and a symbol of Polish heritage. Perched on Wawel Hill above the Vistula River, it combines beautiful Renaissance courtyards, Gothic towers, and breathtaking views over the city. Walking through the royal chambers, the armory, and the treasury, you get a real sense of the centuries of power and culture that shaped Poland. The nearby Wawel Cathedral, with its chapels and royal tombs, is equally remarkable and deeply moving, as it is the final resting place of Polish kings, queens, and national heroes. Even if you don’t go inside, the grounds are worth exploring for the atmosphere and panoramic views. This is a place where history, art, and architecture come together in a truly unique way. Absolutely essential on any visit to Kraków.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Wawel Cathedral, located in Cracow, is a significant site for Polish history and culture. It has been the coronation venue for Polish monarchs and is the resting place of numerous kings, national heroes, writers, and artists. The cathedral houses remarkable chapels such as the Holy Cross Chapel with Byzantine frescoes and works by renowned artists like Veit Stoss. Additionally, it features impressive Renaissance artwork in the Sigismund Chapel.
A piece of art, inside out. The magnificence of the interior is astonishing, with amazing tapisseries, vaults, kings tombs, poets tombs, and beautiful small chapels along the right wing of the cathedral. Not to forget to climb in search for the 3 bells in the tour.
Nizar K — Google review
I didn’t go inside the buildings; we only walked around the open area. Honestly, the architecture isn’t much different from what you find in other classic European cities, but still, I think it’s one of those places you need to visit at least once. It gives you the feeling of truly experiencing the city, even if it’s not something completely unique.
Pedram G — Google review
It was a perfect day to see the many wonderful sites at Wawel fortress & cathedral. Access to all the grounds was free, there were some areas that had paid tours you could take. Absolutely lovely, thank you to the wonderful Polish people for allowing their guests to see their beautiful landmarks.

Wawel Cathedral is truly magnificent – a place where history and architecture meet in breathtaking harmony. The bells are especially impressive, resonating with a deep, solemn beauty that fills the entire space. Visitors should be mindful, however, that some stairways are quite steep and certain passageways can be narrow. Despite this, the experience is unforgettable, offering a remarkable glimpse into centuries of heritage and craftsmanship.
Neringa V — Google review
The beautiful and architecturally impressive Wawel Cathedral is a sight to behold. The stunning golden globe that adorns the roof is surrounded by detailed and ornate elements that collectively make up this stunning cathedral.
Christopher L — Google review
Stepping into Wawel Cathedral feels like crossing a threshold where time softens its grip. The air carries that unmistakable mix of incense, candle wax, and centuries of whispered prayers, as if the walls themselves still exhale the devotion of those who came before. Light falls gently through the high windows, illuminating gilded chapels, velvet draped altars, and the resting places of saints, bishops, and kings. The great bell above, massive and solemn, seems carved out of history itself. It is easy to imagine it thundering across Krakow, calling the faithful, announcing triumphs and tragedies, marking the passage of a nation. Inside the cathedral, the silver sarcophagi glimmer like frozen waves, each one guarding a life that shaped Poland’s story. The shrine of Saint John Paul II radiates a quiet warmth, a reminder of a shepherd who rose from these very stones to guide the world. Every corner feels purposeful. The carved choir stalls, the tapestries telling ancient tales, and the golden dome gleaming softly over the chapels all draw the mind toward the sacred. Candles burn steadily, their flames small but insistent, mirroring the devotion of those who come here seeking strength or peace. You feel the weight of prayers layered one upon another, like soft footsteps echoing across centuries. Wawel Cathedral is more than a monument. It is a living sanctuary where faith and history intertwine. Saints share space with monarchs, and the spiritual sits comfortably beside the political, each shaping the identity of this land. Visiting it is a reminder that some places are built not just of stone, but of memory, longing, and the human desire to reach for something higher. A quiet moment here lingers long after you leave, like the fading scent of incense on a winter coat, urging reflection and steadying the heart for the journey ahead.

Exceptional experience The outside architecture is great as well as the inside You can go to the top to see the royal Sigismund bell, the largest of the five bells of the cathedral. The crypts are very interesting as well and very detailed. I suggest you book the tickets in advance since it gets crowded enough

Sights & Landmarks
St. Mary's Basilica, a Roman Catholic church located in the city center, is a must-visit for its stunning features and rich history. The basilica boasts a carved altarpiece and Gothic watchtower that announces the time with hourly trumpet calls. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful tracery and medieval stained glass windows while learning about Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles as well as the pillar-buttress system.
St. Mary’s Church in Kraków is one of the most breathtaking places in the city and easily one of my favorite churches in Poland. Its majestic Gothic architecture, richly decorated interior, and intricate details inspire awe and convey a profound sense of solemnity. Built in the 14th century, the church’s construction continued over several centuries. In the late 15th century, it gained one of its most remarkable features – the altarpiece by Veit Stoss, the largest wooden Gothic altarpiece in Europe, created between 1477 and 1489. Commissioned by the citizens of Kraków, it was made from three types of wood: oak for the structure, larch for the background, and limewood for the figures. The interior is equally stunning, adorned with polychrome decoration completed between 1890 and 1892 by Jan Matejko and his collaborators. The star-shaped vaulted ceiling, rich in symbolism and intricate details, gives the impression of heaven descending to earth, while the walls feature biblical scenes and images of saints, inviting quiet reflection. For a small fee, visitors can explore the interior, and a truly special moment occurs at 11:50, when the wings of the main altarpiece open to the accompaniment of music, revealing the exquisite carved scenes in all their detail. The church is also famous for one of Kraków’s most enduring legends – the Mariacki Bugle Call. According to tradition, it originated from a medieval trumpeter who sounded the alarm during an enemy attack and was struck by an arrow while playing. Ever since, the melody has been played every hour in honor of his bravery. St. Mary’s Church masterfully combines history, art, and spirituality. Its beauty and grandeur leave a lasting impression on anyone who visits. It is a place not to be missed, where one can experience the true spirit of Kraków while admiring the stunning altarpiece and polychrome decorations.

St. Mary’s Basilica is absolutely stunning — the interior took my breath away. The colours, detail, and craftsmanship are incredible, and photos really don’t do it justice. It’s also great to see such a beautiful landmark remain accessible and affordable for everyone. Unlike many tourist sites, it doesn’t feel over-commercialised or like it’s trying to monetise a religious space — it’s handled with real respect and care. Whether you’re exploring Kraków for a day or a week, this is a must-visit spot. The surrounding square and old town atmosphere make the whole experience even more special. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience. The Basilica is very interesting, nice and rich. Full of emotions. You have to wait a bit sometimes but it worths a visit. Every hour there's a surprise playing music...
Punakaiki — Google review
Saint Mary’s Basilica rises over Kraków’s square like a Gothic prayer cast in brick. Rebuilt by the townspeople after the 1241 invasion, it became the city’s own gift to itself. Its twin towers—one tall and crowned with the Hejnał trumpeter, the other sturdy and quiet—frame a church shaped by generations of architects and guilds. Inside, blue star vaulted ceilings lead to Veit Stoss’s luminous fifteenth century altarpiece, a masterpiece of carved devotion. The shrine of Our Lady glows with votive offerings, and the hourly Hejnał, cut short in memory of a fallen watchman, ties history and reverence into a single breath.
Basil C — Google review
Well, it's impressing but you're not getting that much of a difference in view by paying for the ticket. I recommend going through the free entrance and seeing if it's good enough for you before deciding to buy an actual ticket. By the way, you can easily buy tickets in the building opposite the side entrance.

Rynek Główny

Sights & Landmarks
Rynek Główny, also known as the Main Market Square, is a large medieval town square with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. It is surrounded by impressive palaces and churches, including notable sites such as St. Mary's Basilica, the Town Hall Tower, and the Cloth Hall. Spanning 40,000 meters in size, it holds the title of being the largest medieval market in Europe.
Before the car ban, before the selfie sticks, before the pigeons unionized and claimed squatter’s rights on every statue, Rynek Główny was a quieter kind of majestic. I remember sitting on the old fountain ledge, legs dangling, watching Fiats roll past like they had somewhere important to be, which, in Kraków, usually meant a café or a cousin’s name day. There were no tourists then, just locals and the occasional accordion player who looked like he’d been playing since the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Now, the square is a theatrical masterpiece. It’s the largest medieval town square in Europe, and it flaunts that fact with the confidence of a peacock in a velvet smoking jacket. The Cloth Hall stands like a Renaissance handbag, full of amber and embroidered napkins, while St. Mary’s Basilica plays its hourly hejnał like Kraków’s heartbeat, a truncated trumpet tune that still manages to stir something ancient in you. One summer, I watched a tourist on a Segway wearing a nun outfit glide past a mime while a brass band played “Dancing Queen.” I was sipping espresso, trying to decide whether this was divine intervention or just Kraków being Kraków. The underground museum is a marvel, but the real treasure is above ground, where every cobblestone feels like it remembers your grandmother’s pierogi recipe. Prices have crept up, sure, but you’re paying for ambiance, architectural flirtation, and the existential thrill of being in a place that’s survived Mongol invasions, partitions, and stag parties. The pigeons are still here, still judging, still ready to steal your obwarzanek if you blink. Rynek Główny isn’t just a square, it’s a stage, a memory, a slightly chaotic love letter to Polish resilience and theatricality. Come for the history, stay for the surrealism, leave with a heart full of amber and a camera full of pigeons.

Picturesque town square, beautiful pictures from all angles. The place really becomes lively at night. Dont miss the square at "blue hour," for us visiting in late september this was 7pm. Beautiful central square in Krakow! Huge square, there us a small market in the main building where you can buy souvenirs and also the traditional amber stone, as bracelet or charm, very pretty. You can visit St Mary's basilica and go up to the tower, extraordinary views from Krakow, totally worth the circa 300 steps to get to the top! Lovely restaurants around the square, and not that much expensive compared to others further away from the centre. You can also rent a charming charriot and go around central krakow, day or night

Beautiful old town, we arrived the evening before independence day for Poland, on the day it was very busy, high police presence, but no trouble. The town is full of Beautiful buildings, cafes, bars and restaurants. A restaurant for all budgets. The foot fall fell off, Wednesday/Thursday and grew again on the Friday. Due to the time of year, the increase of visitors didn't appear to have a negative effect on restaurants for us, but might at a different time of year. Poland is so worth a visit. We used Bolts, which is a kind of taxi service, which was Cheap and very quick ( download the app) to use as our chosen way of getting around when we went further a field.

I was here to walk the trail. This church was the starting point of my walk. I spent about 3 hours to finish the whole circle. There are many chapels and other monuments along the trail. Very nice and quiet walk all along the way. The scenery along the route is very nice. The only issue I found is that English information is scarce. I barely found any information I can read about along the trail. If you do not speak Polish, you may need t o read about the trail and its history online in advance to have a better understanding.

They have a main information window to the right of main entrance if you come up and enter from the bottom of the hill with statues above wall. 4. They also have tours at the information booth. 5. This chapel is an important stop for pilgrims to visit places important from the context of Pope John Paul II's life. On a hill, the view from the church lets you see miles into the beautiful landscape. The church built centuries ago is imposing and the frescos on the ceilings and walls are artistically done. There are showcases of the former Pope's visits and most of the content printed is in Polish. The confession boxes are wooden and interestingly crafted for privacy. The church premises are undergoing renovation and wheelchair and stroller accessibility can be better.

Nestled in the charming town of Wadowice, the Family House of the Holy Father John Paul II Museum offers a captivating glimpse into the early life of Pope John Paul II. Located on ulica Koscielna, right next to the Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, this modern museum is housed in what was once his family home. Visitors can explore an array of photographs, furniture, and memorabilia that tell stories from his formative years.
This is the reason why we went to Krakow, to get closer to St John Paul II. His life story in itself is very much inspiring. The audio guide can also be downloaded on the phone but make sure to bring your ear/headphones otherwise pay a small amount from the museum. A very well worth visit.

Visiting the hometown and the home of St John Paul II was a dream come true as Catholics. My husband and I learned so much about the late pope’s life which was built around Wadowice and enriched by the loving and faithful family he had. The museum was nicely organized. Zatorland Amusement Park is a thrilling destination featuring animatronic dinosaurs, giant insects, mythical creatures, and classic funfair rides. The park offers various activities for both children and adults, with different themed zones including attractions like Dino Park. Families with young kids will find it especially enjoyable, as there are dedicated areas for children's cars and insect models. Visitors can also explore the impressive dinosaur section and relax in the serene Old Greece-themed zone by the large lake.
It is one of the greatest places for kids. The place has 4 different parts, first right after the entrance games for kids from age 3 to 12 or even 15. The speed and height of the games are very reasonable, which builds confidence for kids to get used to such games. The second and nest part that my son and daughter loved is the Dinosaur park. I was amazed with the path the number of different types of Dinosaurs they had with actual size. Very nice and great learning experience for kids. The other parts were also good. But the first two were the best. I highly recommend families with small children to fist this over Energy Land as it has both games and learning experience.

We hardly had to wait in line for any of the rides. Everything is clean and well-organized. The only downside is that food and drinks are a bit expensive, so it’s a good idea to bring plenty of water, as you can easily spend at least 6 hours here.

great for kids 4-8 yo. large areas with trees, great during hot days. okish gastro, good grill. popular and crowded - late hours like 3pm+ are amazing and cheaper than noon. easily 6h of active fun for your kid. quite expensive, but worth it. these dinosaurs are moving! their skin is 1 level worse than in jurapark, but trex type dinos are great, especially their tails :D photos from mitology park. Kinda hated insects park, because its small, tight, hot and crowded, yet the kid enjoyed the rides.

We recently visited Zatorland and had a truly memorable experience, especially in the dinosaur park! My 3-year-old daughter was thrilled to encounter the dinosaurs, impressively naming each one before we could even read the descriptions. This section of the park was a fantastic educational journey into the prehistoric era for her! However, while the dinosaur exhibits were a hit, I feel there are areas for improvement that could enhance the experience for families with young children. One concern is the height requirement for ticket purchases. Children over 90 cm are charged full entry, yet there aren't many attractions tailored for kids in the 90-110 cm height range. Considering this, it would be reasonable to adjust the charging policy to start from 100 cm, similar to other European or UK amusement parks, or alternatively, add more suitable rides for toddlers. Additionally, the walking paths throughout the park are covered with gravel, which creates a dusty environment and can be harsh when children fall. A smoother, resin-bonded, or asphalt pathway would not only reduce the risk of bruises from falls but would also make it easier for kids to ride scooters and for parents to push prams. Despite these points, our overall experience was very positive. The joy and excitement seen on my daughter's face as she explored the different dinosaurs were priceless. We recommend Zatorland to all families, especially those with young dinosaur enthusiasts!

The place is huge, divided into 4 sections, allot of things to see and do. It’s smart design. minimal waiting time in line, not crowded at all, bathrooms are clean We read previous reviews it should fit children under 10 yo, we came with our 9 and 13 yo, both had a great time and were not bored one bit. We spent there 7 hours. Was fun!

We visited this park, and we were pleasantly surprised. The park is especially suitable for children, they have many activities to do. There are climbing frames, merry-go-rounds, dinosaurs and various other things. What we didn't like is that there is no full-fledged food in the area, only fast food.

Such a cool theme park!! I loved it here so much. It's very clean and the coasters are so well maintained, they were all very smooth. I do really recommend spending at least 2 days here so you can take your time going on everything, there is a LOT to do!! A must visit if you enjoy roller coasters

I visited Energylandia because I was curious about the largest amusement park located near Slovakia. And I must say that I was satisfied. And that was right from the moment I parked my car, which I parked in a huge parking lot located right next to the amusement park. I must note that even though the ticket price is not the lowest, parking is paid separately (7 €/day). The amusement park premises are beautiful, decorated, pleasant movie music plays everywhere and you feel like you are in a fairy tale. There are many shops, restaurants and vending machines. Given that Energylandia has chosen a policy in the style of "buy a full-day ticket and all attractions are included in the price", it is logical that there are queues for each attraction - from 10 to 60 minutes (depending on what day / period you visit Energylandia). One ride lasts about 30 to 90 seconds. However, many of them are worth waiting for, as they offer maximum experience and adrenaline (e.g. speed of 144 km/h or overload up to 4G). You can watch the waiting time on several screens in the park or you can download their mobile application. A practical service is renting boxes to put things away (because you can't wear a cap/glasses/bag, etc. while riding). All you need to do is buy a bracelet (approx. €4), using which you can then always open one box at each attraction. Energylandia really offers an experience for people who like speed and adrenaline. They just have to wait for it :) I definitely recommend it.

The biggest amusement park in Poland! Lots of different rollercoasters, including extremely scary and more simple of kids and family. It's worth to spend there the whole day, they have everything you need. Very convenient system of storage boxes, you buy once for 17zl and can reuse it near every rollercoaster endless time. Also train station is very close, you can get by train from Krakow glowny within 1 hour for 12 zl, train goes every hour.

Amazing roller coaster ride! 🎢 The thrill, speed, and twists were incredible — pure adrenaline from start to finish. I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time! Definitely an unforgettable experience!

Without a doubt the best theme park I’ve ever been too, had a lot of fun! Rides are amazing. Something does need to be done about line cutters, did have a bunch of kids jump in line on Mayan by jumping over the wall. Overall an incredibly pleasant experience, everything’s is reasonably well priced and affordable.

This park is awesome! I love their locker system here, it’s very convenient and easy to use. They have lockers almost at every single ride so you can put your backpack or bag in there hassle free! The rollercoasters here are amazing. This park is better than the Six Flags parks I’ve been to. I recommend :)

The amusement park is really big. Next time we will definitely buy the multiple day ticket. We went on Saturday so it was packed. We chose a day that was super hot, but they had stations with water sprayers so that was nice. Waiting time were quite long which we expected as we went on a weekend. Other than that it was great! Even the water park for the kids! Highly recommend to check out this park!
