Interesting exhibitions from time to time. They are also perform custom events which you can request. I requested a wedding for me and my wife there. It was medieval themed and we had a lot of fun!

Alexandrovskaya village (Александровская слобода) is known from the XV century. From 1505 she served as the country residence of Grand Duke Vasily III, from 1564 to 1581 - the residence of Tsar Ivan the Terrible (actually the capital of the state, the center of Oprichnina). The Trinity Cathedral (1513), the Intercession Church (16th century, was part of the palace of Ivan the Terrible) survived.

Alexandrov Sloboda was the residence of Ivan Grozni. Often in English he is interpreted as Ivan the terrible. However it is not accurate and what does it mean is his presence generates fear. He was someone who integrated Russia and unfortunately after him the Romanov dynasty took over the reigns of Russia. For some years he renounced his kingly power and entrusted the Kingship to some subordinate and lived in Alexandrov in silence and prayer. Later he went back to Moscow and took over power. Ivan Grozni gave a holistic foundation for Russia.

Absolutely amazing airspace museum. Some of the rarest airplanes made in the Soviet Union and Russia is here. I am highly impressed with the collection and the facts. A bit upset on the upkeep of the planes and artifacts, probably due to funding , and the lack of information and facts on some planes. Otherwise a must visit. But do come in the warm period. I visited in the winter and it was cold but still enjoyable. Would recommend to anybody. Even with children

Amazing museum. They have unique aircraft. It is possible to reach by train from Moscow, but the museum is a bit far from the Monino station. I recommend going by taxi. Not very expensive from Moscow.

It took a 90 minute train ride and walking a mile to get here, but it was worth it. Some of the most beautiful planes I'll ever see. So happy to know that the Tu-144 is getting a full restoration due to the contributions of visitors. I gladly put 100 rubles in the donation box.

For aviation fans (like me) the visit is well worth the travel time to get there from Moscow City: A large selection of Russian military aircraft from between the two world wars to current times. Most of the few indoor exhibits are only with explanations in Russian, most of the outdoor exhibits have English spec sheets, too. The TU-144 is very special to see! We had a great opportunity to enter the fuselage and cockpit of the largest helicopter of the world: A technician let us in through a side door! Impressive!! The entry fee is relatively cheap, the memorabilia shop ok. The lady there very friendly. The travel with the Russian railway from Yaroslavsky station took about an hour and didn't cost much. To the "non-aviation-enthusiast" visitor a warning: The overall maintenance of the place is not exactly outstanding, some of the exhibits are not in a good condition - I guess they're fighting budget problems.

I took the train with some friends out to the Central Air Force Museum (Moscow) to see planes. The museum has lots of older aircraft and I an glade to see they are resorting some too. The signs are small but you can find with a smartphone.

An amazing place with such beauty not to be missed. It is the most important Russian monastery and the spiritual centre of the Russian Orthodox Church situated in the town of Sergiyev Posad, and currently is home to over 300 monks.

Point of interest not to be missed. Great site for photography and sightseeing with rich historical and religious interest. We happened to witness numerous members replacing another singing choir in very lovely high pitch voices at a significant event in the chapel.

Visited here in September, 2014. This unbelievably colorful abbey (or cathedral?) is the center of the area called "Sergiyev Posad". According to what I have googled, this abbey is like a symbol of Russian Orthodox Church. You can go there by train from a station in Moscow, taking about 1 hour. It's long a little bit, but you don't have to change a train on the way, so it might be just a great chance to see beautiful sceneries of the Moscow suburb from a train window. Personally I guess those who haven't been to Russia can never imagine this country really likes something colorful, especially churches and palace, but it is not the case. Once you have come here, sort of stereotype in your mind would be changed.

A historical legacy of the historical development of the orthodox church in Russia, The building is shaped like a broad fortress and inside there are several buildings such as churches, monasteries and other buildings. In this place, you will find a lot of priests coming in and out between the prayer hall and the dormitory. When you enter the church complex you will see a magnificent gate with various paintings on the ceiling. The thick walls which partly start to peel with age but are maintained and well cared for. Besides being actively used as a place of worship, this place is also a museum. If you have free time you can stop by on the left side of the entrance there is a cafe run by a church that sells typical Russian food and according to the menu, all foods sold there are also menus of priests and residents of the monastery. Inside the area, you can find several shops selling various souvenirs, complete from key chains and simple magnets to beautiful and expensive icons. If you like jewelry and crystal work you can also buy it there. If you feel hungry around there is a bread shop, cafe and fresh fruit seller in the area.

The Sergei Trinity Monastery, also known as the Shergi Holy Trinity Monastery, the Holy Trinity Sergei Monastery, is the spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church, one of the most important monasteries in Russia, and the largest Orthodox monastery in Russia. . Located in the town of Sergiyev, 71 km north of Moscow. Created in 1345 by Saints Sergey of the monk Ladogne. After continuous expansion. There are many buildings in the courtyard that are different in age and style. It is now the seat of the Moscow and All-Russian Patriarchate. In 1993, it was included in the World Heritage List.

The place is spiritual. If your soul needs some rest, you should visit.

The Kremlin has two Cathedrals inside. You can also buy your souvenirs here as there's a lot of little shops, including a Gingerbread museum, inside. It has a really quaint feel to it. I would recommend it!

There is a large well-kept area. The Kremlin has the old building of the Tula Museum of Arms. The exposition of this museum is more interesting than in the new museum building. Also on the territory there is the Museum and Exhibition Complex and the Holy Assumption Cathedral. Good luck everyone!

Incredible architectural complex that is getting ready to celebrate its 500th birthday in 2020. The main cathedral is currently closed for renovations but should reopen in 2020. Be sure to visit the Museum of the Samovar (Russian historic teamaking device) and many souveneer shops (merchant's row inside the Kremlin) offering unique Russian crafts.

Come here on a sunny day and make some authentic coins with a hammer - that’s how they did it in ancient Rus’. There are a lot of shops and cafes to your left when you enter the Kremlin. You can go right through the Kremlin to the beautiful Kazanskaya embankment - no need to go around

I think the best museum in Tula allows you to see all kinds of guns, vehicles, and a shooting range, etc. If you're in Tula, you should visit!

Easy to get to and nice to visit. Gives you best understanding of Chekhov's universe. Small free parking, nice neighbourhood. Recommended even to go from Moscow. Very good uncongested road to the destination. No restaurant on premises, just a cafeteria.

This is Anton Chekhov's house. It is a great day trip from Moscow. If you enjoy acting and plays this is a worthy excursion. If you enjoy being outside in a beautiful landscape this is also the place for you. The museum offers guided tours which are great if you have a translator. I am told the lady with the fantastic hat is the best! If you don't have a translator don't fret there are well written English descriptions around the whole museum.

This is a nice place to visit. The nature preserve itself focuses on zubrs. A guided tour starts every hour that goes through the history and facts about the animals, while the group is walking through the walled off part of the preserve, where the zubrs can be seen. The animals themselves are majestic, but on the whole a tour is not very eventful and there is a chance that the animals are far away and difficult to see. I would recommend going here if you stay in one of the nearby towns.

An awesome nursery-garden for aurochs and bisons. The animals are very beautiful, there are babies too :) the staff is extremely friendly and also there are possibilities for Volunteering! You really should visit this amazing park!

The Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve is the only nature reserve in the Moscow region, located just 100 kilometers from Red Square. It is located on the terraces of the left bank of the Oka River, covered with pine and mixed forests. The reserve is home to 913 species of vascular plants. On its unique territory you can find both swamps with sundews and cranberries characteristic of the northern regions, as well as areas with more southern, steppe vegetation. This is one of the smallest nature reserves in Russia. However, an area of less than 5 thousand hectares is home to 153 species of birds and 57 species of wild mammals. The main attraction of the reserve is the bison - a wild forest bull, the largest ungulate animal in Europe, a contemporary of the mammoth, which quite recently was on the verge of extinction. A visit to the Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve is a great opportunity to relax in nature and get an unforgettable experience from meeting a herd of bison in the forest.

Beautiful nature and beautiful peacefull creatures living there. Recommended for family visits. As a great addition, rope park and tree walkway are on the territory, highly recommended as well.

It's not bad russian bisons nursery and local zoo museum, but here don’t give to touch and feed bisons and only intimidated. In St. Petersburg in Toksovo you can feed and touch bisons and it's free.

Located at Red Square Moscow, St. Basils Cathedral is a not to be missed place in Moscow. I would say that this place has an iconic value in Moscow. The beautiful architecture and colorful combination of the exterior of the building has no match.

Located at the Red Square. St. Basil's Cathedral was built in 1555-1561 by the order of tsar Ivan the Terrible in honor of the victory of the Russian army over the Kazan Khanate. Its 16th-20th centuries interiors kept preserved. The vaults and walls of the cathedral was are richly decorated with murals, precious gifts of the royal family members are kept in the former sacristy. Wall paintings and church icons tells about the wonderful miracles of the Saint.

This place is iconic. You can't come to Moscow without seeing it. It's located right next to the red Square and during different times of the day, it takes on a different look with the sky behind it

One of nice things to see, dont miss it if you are there and not coming back to Mosco. Entrance is 2000 rubles, bit expensive for a foreigner compared to locals. Worth to see. If you have any an elderly person, be careful as there is a very narrow and high steeped stair to go to second floor.

Kramskoy, Vasnetsov, Serov, Repin, Savitsky—to name only a few—are represented in the Tretyakov Gallery, which offers an overwhelming feast for the eyes of art lovers. The museum displays countless masterpieces I had only read about: The Unknown Woman (often called the Russian Mona Lisa), Morning in a Pine Forest (Alenka chocolate wrappers), Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan, and a striking portrait of Pushkin, among others. After just 40 minutes, my mind was flooded with a surge of impressions and information. With 62 rooms to explore, this is clearly not a one-day museum. The entrance fee of 700 rubles is a bargain.

Very disappointing experience at the Tretyakov Gallery I visited the Tretyakov Gallery on September 25 and had a very disappointing experience. The website, the online tickets, and even the entrance signs all clearly stated that the museum would close at 9 PM. However, at 7:30 PM everyone was suddenly told to leave because of a private event — something that had never been announced anywhere. No one, not even the security staff, seemed to know about this early closure. The situation was handled poorly, and some staff were rude and unhelpful. It was also surprising that no one at the information desk spoke English in such a major international museum. Because of this, I had to completely change my travel plans and return the next day, buying new tickets and audioguides. Unfortunately, one of the main reasons for my visit — the famous Girl with Peaches — was not on display that day. Although I later received a refund for the first day’s tickets, the gallery’s response ignored the other issues I raised and fell far below my expectations.

A very big gallery with great artwork (if you're a fan of it). You need at least a couple of hours to see all of it. The ticket is 500 rubbles for adults. But I'd recommend the Shimov gallery. Much more impressive.

A place full of history, the churches, and gardens are well worth the visit. Its impressive how this place is so well maintained. You can see the cannons left behind by Napoleon. You can also see iconic buildings from Russia's history although the tourist can really only see them from the outside, yet its still very worthwhile.

It is the most popular place in Moscow. The beautiful square with towers. All of my life in Moscow I visited this place 7-8 times. I think that this square is the best for tourists due to its history.

Fantastic experience. We took the opportunity to take a cruise excursion into Moscow on high speed train. We had the most wonderful tour guide who had a great head of knowledge. It was a long day but so worth the money for the trip. Loved every minute of it. Would recommend the trip.

This museum is not at the address informed for three years now!! The correct address is at Vystavochnaya station. This needs to be corrected. It is a nice space, only in Russian.

This is the wrong address and it’s very hard to find this museum. To make a long story short, you need to follow the signs to Vystavochnaya (выставочная) metro station. Right before the gates, you’ll see the museum. If you still can’t find it, show locals this photo and ask them for directions.

As others have explained and we sadly did not read about until to late, it would have saved us an hour in searching, the museum is in the Metro. Good place to see although very limited displays due to not having any space. Recommended on the way it has been created. Very informal and everything is in Russian. Dr Google gets a fail here in directions.

Great little museum dedicated to Moscow's impressive Metro system. Best thing: it's free, worst thing: most of the explications aren't in English. Still, its an interesting and cheap place to visit.

Very hard to find, it's beside one of the Metro stations in Aphimoll mall, go right down to the station entrance, it's on the left. Very little signage in English.

Unusual, mysterious, this is one of the most beautiful churches in Russia, with a gilded crown instead of a dome. The church in the ancient estate of Dubrovitsy, in which Prince Boris Golitsyn lived, was built at his expense in the 17th-18th centuries. The prince, who served as the tutor of the future sovereign Peter the Great, fell into disgrace with him and left for his estate. However, Peter soon cooled down, and as a sign of reconciliation, the prince, at his own expense, began the construction of an unusual church on the territory of his own estate. In 1704, construction was completed, and Peter the Great himself arrived at the consecration ceremony of the temple, standing and praying on a special balcony of the western ledge. This unique monument of Russian architecture is included in the list of world art treasures.

Old Russian fortress of Dmitrov's region.only partly survived due to wooden construction. enjoy the beauty of Uspensky sobor which was appx. build in 1512 and reconstructed and renovated later. The city got lots of hills that makes great photos opportunities.

Historical place. Dmitrov's kremlin is a small one. Merchant's houses are getting fired. Somebody would like to build there trading centers. GOVERNMENT SHOULD TAKE CARE ABOUT THAT!

(Translated by Google) The rampart is all that remains of the real Kremlin. The gates are a recent construction, plus several buildings within the ramparts are truly historic, especially the church. Nevertheless, it's quite pleasant and cozy here, in part because of the interesting metal sculptures. It's a good choice for a short weekend getaway from the capital. It's easy to get there by bus, so you don't have to worry about the traffic jams on Dmitrovka. (Original) вал - это все, что осталось от настоящего Кремля. Ворота - недавняя конструкция, плюс несколько зданий внутри вала, они как раз настоящая история, особенно храм. Тем не менее, здесь довольно приятно, уютно, в том числе из-за занятных металлических скульптур. Хорошо подойдет для недолгого выезда из столицы в выходной день. Добраться удобно на автобусе, тогда не так волнуют пробки на Дмитровке.

Great selection of animals (we've been there only in the half on the park, left hand side, didn't have time for "tropical" part). That has exceeded my expectations, nice and spacious place, well arranged. I must say we've been there on the 1st of January so it was almost empty, no visitors. At least that (I mean anything like that working on the the 1st of January) can tell one a lot ;) Nice place to take children but also quite interesting park for adults.

Magnificent zoo, with focus on birds. Many species and not only birds. The otter and the ostrich are also very nice. We visited in winter so half of the animals were hidden. But even the remaining accesible part was so magnificent! We spent several hours here and were much exhaused before we finished the first part of the park. Will be back in spring to see the rest of the animals.

A magnificent replica of the Resurrection Temple in Jerusalem! An astonishing work of art, and a place that every Orthodox should visit when in Moscow! The monastery is huge, and also has a nice "Trapeza" (small restaurant) where you can have a meal. There's also a free parking just outside the main gate.

Most excellent experience. Awesome atmosophere in and out of the monastery. Most things are all open for visiting for gratis. Walking on the batllements which takes one almost right around the whole compound is must see. The cafeteria is great: quite cheap and offers the home food type of cooking. Excellent.

The newly restored historical monastery is so beautiful, especially taking into account how it looked before the restoration works rook place. It is also not overcrowded and it feels really good to spend some time on the premises. Don't forget to get empty bottles with you as the water you can get in the cathedral from the underground source is simply delicious.

On one of the most famous and largest streets in Moscow, the courtyard of the Zvenigorod Savvino-Storozhevsky monastery is hidden, built in a pseudo-Russian style with elements of modern and baroque. Previously, when walking in the center, it was hard not to notice one of the main decorations of Tverskaya, but in 1939 it was hidden from view. An interesting story is connected with its movement: the building, which weighed 24 tons, was moved deeper into the quarter at night - rails were laid under the foundation and smoothly transported to a new location. At the same time, the residents were not relocated and were not even specially warned. It is said that many of them discovered the change only in the morning, looking out of the window, and must have been very surprised at the unexpected move.

A must-see place for any tourist traveling around Moscow. But do not come here on weekends and church holidays, for crowds will ruin one's experience. If you are lucky, a monk may allow you to come up the bell tower. The view is magnificent. The sound is deafening.

Monastery is ok, but you will find inside the walls a pearl, a bakery shop and a café with amazing pastry,cakes,chocolates, 100% handmade and fresh. Very tasty everything. Queue of ppl to buy bread, etc... But it's worth to do it. It's cheap. Shop and café (you can eat everything you can buy in shop here) has amazing decoration, medieval style. Café is located upstairs, just in one of the towers and a door brings you directly to the walls... really beautiful place to eat/drink/rest.

The place is well-suited both for pilgrims and for tourists. They even have free wi-fi, special app for visitors available for iOS and Android as well, and the food is dietetical and tasty at the same time. As for the architecture, there are several buildings highly valuable from the historical and the aesthetical point of view. To cut the story short, just come and see it for yourself.

Great old holy place.

A great museum to visit for those who like music, history or simply don't know how to spend their time in Klin. A vast variety of authentic exhibits. The vibes of the late XIX century still linger in the house and other facilities where Pyotr Chaikovsky (and his family) dwelled. The excursion with our guide Anna was splendid, lots of interesting and unexpected trivia about the composer's life really made us hang on the guide's every word. Highly recommend!!!

We tried to get there few times - first on the road to St Petersburg on 1 of may 2021 - the garden around estate was closed. Then 25 september 2021 we planned to overnight in Klin and ask cashier by the phone few times to wait us until 17.30 They refuse us. Cashier closes at 17.00, even if museum closes at 18.00 Next day we forced to stay longer in Klin cause museum open only at 10am, but we have a whole day plans and risked to miss our last POI cause on extremely uncomprosissing staff of this place. Be aware!

It is a must to visit this great museum for all admirers of the msuic of Tchaikovsky. Great exhibitions and the house which was left nearly untouched since the death of Tchaikovsky. You can as well visit a concert there and listen to the sound of the grand piano owned by Tchaikovsky where he composed and performed so many works.

Access to the rooms is blocked from the doors and you won't be able to to see small items or even details of furniture.... It is almost same as you would see photos instead of presence on the site

Magnificent place where you can find lots of Tchaikovsky. You can take photo with additional fee. There is a guide with St. Petersburg accents (Russian). Some tourist from St. Petersburg (also russian) was asking repeatedly about if Tchaikovsky was not fond of woman and Guide repeatedly answer not to ask kind of harsh question. If you have time to go there please do so, his last home and where he composed Symphony No.6.

This is a small but well maintained museum with very beautiful grounds. We did not ask for an English guide but many of the docents spoken of English to help us understand what we were looking at.

If you are Piotr Tchaikovsky music lover ,this is must see place. During his time at the house in Klin, Tchaikovsky finished proof-reading the scores of Iolanta and The Nutcracker, wrote eighteen piano pieces, Opus 72; The vocal quartet The Night; six romances to the words of Rathaus; and the 6th Symphony. There are many original omposer belongings here . I found this place very interesting and touching .

Great place to visit with family and children. Territory is huge and you have real examples of different houses in different centuries. To see everything you need whole day. What is more, you can go to several master classes where you can learn how to do some things. On a territory are some places with different animals. Really sad to see hasky dogs in a cages.

Fun place. But that mostly for organized groups that book tours and kids over 8 yrs old. The cafes are ok. The Korchma with Russian-Ukranian good is supposedly one of best at this locale. Most activities and exhibits inside the general park area are at additional cost. At far above average prices.

This is my first time in Etnomir. So, definitely it is a great place. There are many architecture styles that was merged into Mir Street and hotels. I was extremely impressed by facade of the Nepal hotel. In spite of this feeling with family we were staying in the hotel of East Asia and room was clean and sweet. And as we were lucky with the weather we could visit every place in this huge area and just relax in place that out of carbon dioxide and full of the fresh air in harmony with nature

PS: the lack of air condition ruined our experience and we expect that it could ruin display items too. Hope that this issue will be fixed.

It's a perfect place for rest of Moscow. You can accommodate there and spend more than one day, actually its necessity because of it's too far from Moscow to be there just for one day. Anyway, interesting art, timber structures, calm place, bad roads, but its a part of it. Definitely worth to see.

A good place to visit if you are really into public art, but not worth driving all the way from Moscow. The infrastructure of the park has a lot of room to grow (updated maps, guides in foreign languages). However, the nature here truly is beautiful. The Ugra River, located south of the old church, is a great place to go for a swim in the summer.

The Nikola Lenivets art park is not something which pops up in a regular tour itinerary on a visit to Russia. More near to Kaluga than Moscow, it involves a bit of a drive, duration of which depends on where you stay in Moscow. It is possible to reach there by public transport but I was fortunate enough to have my friend and her brother give me a ride. (which was perfect because the place's a bit hard to find and you need to know Russian to ask for directions). The park is very widespread and covers the whole village of Nikola Lenivets including adjacent fields, woods, meadows and a river. There are various art installations all around from the midst of meadows to inside the woods. There is a vehicular road which goes through and around most of the park and there are dedicated parking lots near most larger exhibits. It's quite easy to explore the various areas of the park on foot from the parking lots. Cycles are available on rent but I won't recommend them unless you're absolutely at the peak of fitness because the roads are undulating and unpaved making the journey uncomfortable. There are lovely cottages to stay over along with dedicated camping grounds. Toilets although widely present are so so...some are modern and comfortable while others are like dry pits! Maps and tickets are available at the information centre, unfortunately only being in Russian. There are decent cafes and places for picnics and barbecues. I couldn't find any shop to buy souvenirs. On the whole it's a good place to visit although it's tough getting there on your own. And it is better to go when you are feeling completely well because it becomes tiring to explore the huge area when you're ill (personal experience).

Out of the three manors I loved this one the most! I can't even express how wonderful it was to have a walk there. It's like being in one of the Russian fairy tales. As soon as you see the place you realize where Pushkin got his inspiration from. Make sure to visit the place when it's warm and sunny and don't forget to bring some mosquito spray with you.

Cathedral of Saint Trinity was built in 1682-1699. It was the fifth church at that place in Kremlin of Pskov. First church existed here already in X century. Existing Kremlin of Pskov was built between 1337 and 1424. Although first Fortress existed here already in IX century. Admission to Kremlin is free but you will have to buy a ticket is if you are going to visit the museum. Highly recommended for yours visit. This is splendid monument of Russian medieval culture and architecture.

Amazing place, even if some churches were closed

If you're a religious person or a big fan of nature, than you will probably like this place. If not, I don't think, you're going to be impressed. The walls of the fortress are ancient and massive. You can walk near them and enjoy the atmosphere. The church is yet small and not really beautiful. When I was here the main church was closed for cleaning.

Very colourful and beautiful monastery

A beautiful and holy place where there are burried a lot of Saint people. The monaster is very old but in good shape. You can visit the caves from sand where monks are burried.

The place to be. Please touch base with the Visitor Service a day or two in advance, if you are planning to visit the caves. Hierodeacon Lazarus (Lazar) is the man in charge.

Marvelous medieval castle. Kind small, but walking inside would be up to aprox 2 km. if try to visit all corners 🤣 They give candle lantern for some authentic feeling while walking through dark places inside, and that's super nice. There is a narrow staircase and with some other narrow aisles, so need to be careful. In one of the tower shows some video about the history of this castle - it is quite short but interesting. Maybe in the summer whey could work a little longer, not till 18 h. The price for adults - 10€. You can pay by cash or card. Worth to visit. Also, don't forget to visit also castle park.

A very interesting medieval castle, it takes easily few hours to explore all the corners and towers because it is so captivating! The show in the west tower about the history was done so well, and the lantern with a real candle contributed a lot to the atmosphere, it was nice to have no electric lights. I recommend this amazing time trip.

Wow, this is really awesome place to visit! it remains the medieval castle in Latvia. You can learn how the castle was built and invaded by foreign countries from the historical museum too. For the castle and its two tower tour, they offer you a medieval lamp to stroke around even in deep dark area(believe me there are certain area really black out and cold). We were kind of worried about a very short candle can last for the enough time we'd visit to the two towers and the jail at the very bottom, but it turned out to be ok. Worth of visit!! - note for those who would not understand Latvia language, there are some sheets of papers for the guidance but we took some photoshots as there were far too many things to feel and learn from the castle. Very beautiful place! We used CATA bus from Riga, it took us about 1hr and 50min and 5.32Eur one way. It was very convenient to use bussystem reservation system even for foreigner(s).

Schloß Wenden, the original German name of Cēsis Castle, is one of the most iconic and best preserved castles in Latvia. In the autumn of 1206, during the Baltic Crusade, the Wends converted to Christianity and became allies of the crusaders. I was startled when someone greeted me and offered a lantern before entering the castle. Inside was terribly dark, and the spiral staircase was the worst. Well, I experienced how people in the medieval life without electricity. But overall, this castle was amazing. In one underground, there was a visualisation of people who were thrown into the underground prison telling their story. In other rooms, you can discover the audio storytelling of how people 400 years ago lived inside that castle before, and in the end, they abandoned it.

A truly peaceful and picturesque place. The castle itself is modest, but the surrounding gardens are stunning — beautifully designed with thoughtful planting and a perfect harmony of colors and textures. Walking here feels like stepping into a living painting, a real moment of serenity. Huge compliments to whoever created and maintains this landscape!

We visited in November. Turaida castle is really worth visiting. When you arrive to a parking lot, there are plenty of spots to park. You can pay for it in the museum which is like a minute away and you don't have to go back to put it in your car, just take it with yourself, it costs 2€. The ticket for the castle was just 6€ which is honestly not much, we saw many castles in different countries which where not that worth as this one and were more expensive. Except of the castle you can visit many other places and building here, like the church, the souvenir shop or the jewelry shop which offers plenty of beautiful hand made jewelries. Turaida castle itself is right now in reconstruction but was really beautiful. You can go inside every door which you can find, meaning that you can see plenty of expositions with stuff found during excavations, see some photographies, old armors, go up in the tower to see the whole castle and it's surroundings. The whole place is quite wast so you can spend there hours walking around, enjoying the atmosphere.

Nice castle to visit plenty of info and amazing view. The exhibition carries on in all the other buildings around the park (church, little houses…) - make sure to save enough time to visit the whole park and all these different exhibitions, it’s a lot to take in but it’s worth it.

In case you're planning to visit Turaidas Castle for the first time DO NOT follow your google maps. Instead take the parking spot on the 'mountain' (if you're driving a car) and cross the street to get tickets in the Museum entrance. You can pay by parking at the Museum register (same place where you can get tickets). Also the cost for tickets change twice a year — once in Autumn and once in a Spring.
