Bouzov Castle is a medieval fortress featuring an 8-storey watchtower, dry moat, and well-preserved period interiors. It is one of the most popular castles in the Czech Republic and a favored location for filmmakers. The castle offers festive halls and outdoor spaces with a fairytale atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy guided tours to explore its beautiful interiors filled with art collections. The grounds are also stunning, providing a picturesque setting for leisurely walks.
A really great place to visit. When we got the it turned out to be better than we expected. We had a really friendly tour guide, I cannot remember her name but she made the whole place even more interesting. Highly recommend!
Dan S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful and worth seeing. I did the tour in the interiors (ask for the printout in English at the cashiers) and in the moat. The moat you visit without the guide and it take max 20 Min if you are slow. The parking is ca 10 minutes away (walking distance) and it is possible to pay by card. I purchased the tickets online but I don’t think it is necessary. One of the guides could not speak English at all. The other was helpful. The ladies at the cashier speaks English and were helpful too.
Magda M — Google review
Beautiful place. Full of magic. A fairytale castle come to life! Beautifully preserved, full of medieval charm and stunning architecture. The guided tour (also available in English) was packed with fascinating stories and ran smoothly. Perfect for a weekend trip — great for families, couples or solo travelers. Highly recommended!
Dorota S — Google review
It's a beautiful castle with a gorgeous interior. Everything is well maintained, you can only visit with guided tours (you find the different tours on their website, depending on the season.) Prices however begin at 11 euros/person (I have seen none at 4...) The guided tour was pretty quick, 40 minutes and quite frustrating as it's only given in czech. They give you a written pamphlet but it's not very clear or detailed.
Virginie F — Google review
Beautiful castle. It was a pity that, on weekdays, they only had basic tour, (Tower was not included)
ChiaoWei W — Google review
Well preserved castle, but tour itself was a dissapointed. Cca 22eur for 2 adults with kid, 1 hour. Can get in only with a guided group, but guiding only in czech. If guidance was in english and more attractive, this could be great.
David S — Google review
Everything works in tours at specific hours and ONLY in Czech, not English, not audio guide in any language. Parking 100Kc. Cheapest tour 60min 280Kc. With the entrance you get a paper in English with some description of the sights of the tour.
Antonio G — Google review
A beautiful castle where Czech fairy tales were set. Beautiful environment. They started an evening tours (Halloween). Take the children and it will be an experience as it should be. Nicely prepared, worth seeing. I recommend especially with children. Parking available for 100 KC.

Svojanov Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Gothic palace built around a medieval castle, with a restaurant, cultural events & guided tours.
Family friendly access with a nice little park to play in outside the main gate but on the grounds adjacent to 70Kč parking lot. Wine and beer and ice cream under umbrellas with big picnic tables are there as well. Inspiring place with 360 degree views from the tower. Easy to imagine what a medieval fortress was like and how it functioned in a lush and steep landscape with village down below.
Peter A — Google review
Very nice castle with beautiful views all around. I took the B and C tour around the castle and learnt quite alot.
Adisimus — Google review
One of the best narative experiences. Not very much actions, but you can enjoy the view, the animals on the farm, the restaurant and the specific shops. The best part is touring the castle, where princesses will guide you through the fully furnished rooms, and tell the stories of the old times.
Mihai S — Google review
The castle is beautiful and well-maintained inside and out. The guide speaks in Czech throughout the tour. His words are given in English as written notes, which you can read from there. Even though the guide knew there were foreigners in the group, he didn't say a word. We missed the jokes. :) Still, it was worth seeing. You need to buy separate tickets for the exterior and the interior. It costs approximately 1,000 Czech crowns for three people. Parking is limited, and the fee is 70 Czech crowns.
Artur S — Google review
A very nice place situated at middle high hill. We slept there over 2 nights and it was perfect. One minus are the shared toilet and bathroom between 3 rooms. No credit cards accepted in the castle's restaurant. The castle is not big, but enough for small princess ;)
Pavel G — Google review
Nice castle ground and very well kept. The tour was nice. We did option A.
Ajcook80 — Google review
Room was small but it was filled with antique furniture which I liked. Nice clean air and total silence at night. Most interesting part for me was to be inside of the castle when the gate was closed. In the morning, castle is nearly empty so it felt like the whole garden was ours. There is nothing much to do other than hiking and to chillax. Overall it was a memorable stay.
Hanna L — Google review
Castle is ok, I would say average. However guide was a bit weird, if I compare it to other guide experience I would say it was deep below average. But a great highlight especially for families with children is 1) parking lot right in front of the castle, 2) children playground 3) animals in the outer ring right within walls.

Ivan S — Google review
Not the best castle and I would say that for me it was not a priority, but in general, when there is nothing to do, you can go here to unwind. Much more fun to do this with friends. Inside there are some beautiful ceilings, there are also many exhibits and an exhibition of paintings for sale. You can not take pictures, but if you pay 50 CZK, then you can take pictures. Usually in castles they either completely prohibit or allow taking pictures without any problems. This moment in this castle is not very clear to me.
Ivan A — Google review
More of fortified manor house than a castle; to the best of my knowledge this was one of four planed wings. The original medieval castle was torn down in the 1800s after being torn down in a storm. I took a self-guided tour, and was a bit put off by the muticulti/ rainbow tripe that is thankfully still somewhat rare in the Czech Republic.
John L — Google review
Great castle and beautiful. The castle closes at 6pm so you have to be there early!
Adrián Z — Google review
Place with a lot of potential that's unfortunately not used. The ruins of XIII century castle in the middle with "historical" buildings surrounding it. Most amazing one of them is the newer XVI century castle that's just a 20% what it supposed to be and that's in the never-ending renovation (due to lack of funding), interiors are mostly bare so go in only if you don't have anything better to do but I would rather suggest swimming in nearby lakes.
Maciej P — Google review
Interesting monument which is not finished according its original plans. Owned as many of the other czech and moravian castle by mobile family of Lichtenstein. Never used as main mason, only as Rubinu house for surounding land. Chateau is not equiped with original warderobe and furniture- exvept one or two rooms. Quite often there is an exhibition of some painter. Wedding ceremonial is ussually on Saturday.
Ondrej S — Google review
A family friendly tourist attraction containing various art exhibits within the tour of the Manor. Theatre Troupe for both children and Adults. Native birds on view and several brews available, sugars, hot meals and pastries as well.

Fantastic place. Incredible building. Beautiful views. Took the tour inside the palace. Would definitely recommend that. Great pubs surrounding and camp site too. Put it on your "Must See" list.

Geologic Formations
Macocha Gorge, located in the Czech Republic, is a natural wonder known for its deep sinkhole and cave system. Despite its grim history, the site's appearance is truly magical. It is actually the largest sinkhole in Central Europe and stands out for its unique shape. The Macocha Abyss, part of the Punkve Caves complex, is a famous attraction within the Moravian Karst region.
Beautiful place to spend the day with your family. Huge territory to explore.
Alina Y — Google review
Macocha is named after the legend that a stepmother (Macocha) threw her daughter-in-law into this 138-metre deep gorge. It is Unique biotope environment with navigable dripstone caves, and the deepest sinkhole in Europe. Unfortunately also a Traditional suicide point. Beautiful and special flora within the cave. On warm summer nights, groves here are sometimes simultaneously illuminated by thousands of fireflies. Ample parking and a good hotel on site.
John K — Google review
Loved this place very beautiful and interesting. The cave was one of the prettiest that I had visit. And the trip by boat inside of the cave was very cool and we even saw a small bat. Definitely worth it
Iliana K — Google review
Perfect trip: Czech Republic has a lot to offer. Here the deepest sinkhole in Europe! The tour to the Macocha cave has two parts: one into the mountain and one a boat ride through the middle of the gorge : deep in the earth. Very exciting and thrilling. The tour is guided. Very friendly staff.absolutely recommended!
Happy P — Google review
The Macocha Abyss is probably the most famous abyss in the Moravian Karst and at the same time in the Czech Republic and part of the Punkve Caves complex. The depth of the dry part of the abyss is 138.4 m, at its bottom there are Horní with depth 11 m and ‘Dolní macošské jezírka ´´. depth according to the guide 50 m. get a breathtaking look. I absolutely have to praise the guide and the Pilots on the underground boats
František Z — Google review
Truly wonderful Nature with many caves and cliffs. Macocha itself can be accessed through top or through a guide tour from below which I strongly recommend.

Punkva caves

Nature & Parks
Hiking area
Punkva Caves in the Czech Republic offer guided tours through a cave system with a river and a large sinkhole. Visitors can board a boat to drift along the country's longest subterranean river, passing by the impressive Macocha Abyss and captivating stalactite formations. The caves are steeped in legend, adding an eerie allure to the experience. Some visitors recommend renting bikes in Brno and cycling to the caves for an adventurous approach.
This is one of the best attractions we saw in our trip. The best part about these caves are, both just the strolling through the caves but the boat ride, inside the caves which was one of a kind experience. Never miss that. Highly recommend. Kids loved this experience. Would be great memory for them.
Satish V — Google review
Nice cave, but few stalagmites and stalactites. It is not that richly decorated. But the boat trip was the best and most beautiful, for that reason it is definitely worth seeing the cave. The view from the bottom of Macocha was also beautiful.
Alzbeta P — Google review
Outside is really great! The information about opening doesn't contain clear information regarding the last entry on weekends and weekly days. Stuff is nice and helpful. The small kiosk - actually quite good. The hot dogs were very tasty... Really!
Michael M — Google review
You can only enter by reservation, especially for groups, otherwise you risk not being able to enter. We ate quite well at the restaurant where you can also take the tourist train to the cave. We paid 6 euros (round trip) for about 2 km.
Alexandra — Google review
Beautiful, ethereal experience. It's a must visit place to anyone coming to Brno. The audio guides are available in English and several other languages. It's only possible to see this cave with timed, guided tours, so booking well in advance is highly recommended.
Subhroneel C — Google review
Fantastic! The tour was not in English but it was still very good. The boat ride was quite magical, no photos though, because photos are not allowed on the boat.
Alison L — Google review
Really lovely but it would be nice to add an English tour. Just in our group there were multiple non Czech speakers, so I am sure it would be more enjoyable for them to have an English option.
Tereza G — Google review
Such an amazing scenery and the tour ended with a underground river boat trip. If you're ever visiting Brno make sure you'll travel here too!

Kroměříž Archbishop's Palace

Mentioned on
3 lists
Manor house
Sights & Landmarks
The Kroměříž Archbishop's Palace is an opulent chateau featuring rococo rooms, frescoed ceilings, and an art museum surrounded by formal gardens. A three-hour train journey takes you to the town of Kromeriz, where the palace natural park can be found just a short walk from the station. The park boasts a vast 60-hectare space with ponds and rivulets. The palace houses original furniture used by its inhabitants and gifts from royal visitors.
We took the Via Magnifica ticket without a guide and it was a great experience. We came early, shortly after 9:30 alleged opening and bought tickets, however the exhibition does not open until 10:00. Ladies at the counter could've told us. But exhibition was fantastic, I love old paintings, they have a Tizian painting there (unfortunately I couldn't be in awe when the custodian was expecting in, because all I had in my head after she mentioned the name was episode from Egzorcysta, where one demon was asking the other 'Tizian, Tizian! Nie gniewaj şie.) Anyway...the paintings were fantastic, there are couches to just sit and stare at them. We continued to chapel, small, but so beautiful. The library was a feast for my eyes. So many books. SO MANY! Custodian told us they are in two rows and showed us, that in the cabinet after the Liege hall, third shelf from bottom next to the door out, there is a book from Božena Němcová. After the library we went to the tower, steps were fine (be prepared for cca 200 steps) a cute workout. I didn't spend much time out as I am afraid of heights, but the view is 360 and people were satisfied with it. We ended our tour in a castle cafe. They don't have plant based milk, nor lactose free, but tea was good. We ordered cakes: Míša and parisian cake. Mine was the best parisian cake I have ever tasted. Too bad the cafe is so tiny, just a few tables inside and a couple outside, so gets crowded and loud almost immediately, but damn those cakes...should've taken two.
Natalia A — Google review
The Via Magnifica Tour comes with multiple languages in the audio guide and includes picture galleries, some rooms of the palace (including the library), an exhibition on the flower garden you can also visit and a ticket to climb the tower. Friendly and helpful staff, almost no other visitors. Amazing history come to life!
Kaya W — Google review
Wide Park Staying in the cool breeze-filled nature removes stress. Children like it because they can meet animals without fences. I highly recommend it.
김준엽 — Google review
Got there on Tuesday afternoon, but at the security room, a gentleman told me it’s only open on weekends. It’s different from what I learn on the Google map. He told me to visit the free garden though.
Wen — Google review
A there hour train journey to Kroměříž that is worth every minute. And no,you don't need to take a bus from the train station to the town center. Simply walk a dozen of meters and you will fond the palace natural park stretching down near the station. It's huge 60 ha space full of ponds and rivulets. Just make sure to leave it at 5pm as gates close for the night. The palace itself offers all original furniture used by its inhabitants, and presents brought by royal visitors. And do go all the way up to the tower. On a fall morning you will see the mists gradually unvailing the beauty of the main square.
Ivan S — Google review
TOTALLY MAGICAL ✨ GREAT HISTORICAL BUILDING WITH AWESOME GARDEN ✌️ YOU CAN GO BY STAIRS TO THE TOWER AND SEE ALL KROMERIZ CITY 👌 AND THE MOST WONDERFUL IS ORIGINAL PAINTING OF TIZIAN FROM 15TH CENTURY 👏
GEORGE B — Google review
DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU DON'T SPEAK CZECH We wanted to visit the palace because we read that it was beautiful. The only way we could visit it was with a guided tour, but they only gave guided tours in Czech. They did give us hope that we could get the information in english. They said that we needed to ask for 'the texts', which were the guided tours written in english for the guides themselves. The texts were way too long to read during the tour (even for the british person who was also on our tour). We were obligated to stay with the group because the next guided tour would be 5 minutes behind us. This was a complete lie since there is only one guided tour each hour (we were 20 minutes into the tour). The guide was very rude to us, just like here colleague who sold the tickets. When we asked to get a partial refund because we didn't receive what was offered to us, the lady just said that it was not her job but that we should try to find the contact information of the archbischop online and ask him?!? We asked if they didn't have any audioguides perhaps and she told us that was also not her job and that it was too hard for them to do it. We went to the museum on the second floor and there were litteraly lying 30 audioguides that weren't being used. There we could get and audioguide in Czech, English and Deutsch. The staff there were really helpful and should get a raise for putting up with their idiotic colleagues.

Flower Garden

The Flower Garden is a rare 17th-century gem, showcasing intricate Baroque-style flower beds. Renovated by renowned architects, the garden boasts tree-lined paths, refreshing fountains with stunning sculptures, and a breathtaking colonnade. While some visitors noted a lack of flowers during their visit, others found the garden's layout and decorations to be beautiful. Despite this, many still appreciated its beauty more than other gardens in the area.
Must visit when in Kroměříž. Lovely walk, Foucault Pendulum in Rotunda (replica from Pantheon in Paris)... to prove that Earth is spinning 😃
Jan L — Google review
Beautiful gardens. But don't come here in April. It's still too cold for the flowers to blossom. Come here in later in May or further down the line to have the best experience. Beautiful wall with steps to reach the summit for fantastic view over the gardens
Orlando N — Google review
This castle garden is large and you can spend a few hours in it.If there was a restaurant inside,I would stay longer. There are promenades, fountains, small mazes, benches, hedges, beautiful trees and flowers. In the middle there is a rotunda with a beautiful ceiling.I recommend it to families and history lovers.
Van L — Google review
An absolute beauty in display. It's easy to get lost in the gorgeous flowers as you walk through the hedge alleys and countless fountains. I strongly recommend you pay a visit here if you are passing by. The Kroměříž Castle Flower Garden is one of the most amazing gardens I have ever seen. Try to visit it when the flowers bloom, as you will get the most of it then.
Nagifur — Google review
It is beautiful but in May, there were no flowers so it looks poor
Libor Z — Google review
The Flower Garden in Kroměříž is a peaceful and beautiful place worth visiting, but it could really benefit from better and more consistent maintenance.
VITEZSLAV P — Google review
Beautiful place. A lot of flowers and beautiful views/perspectives. Do not miss to explore all parts of the gardens as all have their own little particilarity. We liked the frogs getting tanned and the view from the balcony.
Benjamin T — Google review
I was denied entrance here because the lady at the ticket ofgice printed me the wrong tickets! I was shocked that all the blame was putten on me without any efforts to settle the situation. Zoo Park Vyškov

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Small zoo with domestic animals in generally. It is perfect for kids under 10 years. A few nice playgrounds and a special one on the 2nd floor in the barn. A big plus is the elevator if you come with a stroller.
Loredana G — Google review
Great small zoo with home animals. Do not expect exotic animals but with small chidren is very good.
Miroslav Z — Google review
If you plan to go to Dinopark I do strongly recommend to catch a train as soon as possible. We went to the Zoo first, then we have to wait about hour and half to get to the train. In a really hot summer. No clouds... anyway the Zoo is nice, many "domesticated" animals from all around the world. "Grandma" yard is great as you have the opportunity to be directly in touch with the animals. Just beware goats: once you show them food they go crazy ;) Also the farmhouse is interesting and the interactive exhibition about the nature was both educative and fun for kids.
Jan V — Google review
Nice place to take your kids if you have only limited time. The zoo is not big, you can walk around in an hour and don't miss anything. There are a few interactive places, you can feed domestic agricultural animals, or see life on the historic farm. Apart from the usual local North temperate zone animals there are Alpacas, Camels or Scottish scot. Adults pay 100 CZK per visit, there is no time limit. Kids have discounted prices. It's easier to buy the tickets online in advance, you get in via the QR reader terminal. There is a big parking lot just outside the entrance. The fee is 50 CZK per entire day. You pay the amount in the machine by the entrance, cards or cash are accepted. The parking and entrance is also used for Dino park visitors. They have waiting lines here and take the free of charge road train that takes them to the park on the other side of the city. There is a very nice restaurant by the parking lot. It's suitable for families.
Matouš V — Google review
Super place for kids. Zoo isn't big but it has many atractions. Kids can interact with many animals. And the dino park is just great. Dinosaurs are made with great details. They move & make sounds.
Paweł P — Google review
Nice place for a short walk. But after Zlín zoo I would not recommend visiting it :) also take into consideration that visiting of Vyskov Dino park only possible via Zoo. So this should be your first point.
Hanna Z — Google review
Zoo in Vyškov is also a good place to enjoy the day.
Tomáš D — Google review
It's a nice combination of dinosaur park and a cute zoo which certainly will fill an entire day with entertainment for your children. The space is well taken care of. They have been improving it over the years so it's worth to come once in awhile. Obviously there are things to improve like the quality of the food court, the toilets and more areas for children to play but it's in the right track. Definitely recommend

I like the combination of zoo and dinopark. Your kids can enjoy both live animals and also the historical ones. Everything is in good shape and you are free to walk around with possibilities to buy some snacks, watch a short movie in 5D cinema and pet some animals as well. Really nice place!
Radek A — Google review
Overall it's OK but a bit pricey for what you got.
Raul L — Google review
Nice park for the kids to see some great large models and plenty of space to explore with food and beverages available.
Luke T — Google review
Dinopark and minizoo was excellent experience for summer Camp trip, children enjoyed a lot, moving dinosaurus and making sounds. Exhibition in minizoo has many interactive things for children ať different age,I highly appreciate it. Children love Bee exhibition and room with scary story. Storm and 4D cinema just amazed children. Anyway waiting line for dinoexpress train was really long and 45minutes waiting was unpleasant. And gastronomy in dinopark was not well prepared and organized. Children had unfinished fries, not tasty hamburgers and Coffee was worse than in Petrol station. It is something what can be improve.
Monika Č — Google review
Just an average amusement park, nothing more and nothing less. Visitors have to take the park "train" vehicle from the ZOO premises to get there. The journey takes about 15 minutes through the city centre and at the end when heading out of the town can feel a bit scary when other cars and trucks overtake the road train speeding on the main road.
Pavel R — Google review
Vyskov zoo is nothing special but nevertheless has a nice area and playgro8nds for the kids. Dinopark it's very nice and with a lot of things to see and do. Worth the visit.
Antero P — Google review
Very cool place to go. You need to enter a di o train in the zoo to get there. Kids loved it. Recommend the Dino bike, you have to be at least 150cm tall to ride it though. Leaves every hour till 17.00.

Brno Zoo, located in the lively city of Brno in the Czech Republic, is a popular destination for families and nature enthusiasts. Established in 1953, this zoo is home to over 1,800 animals from nearly 400 different species. Visitors can observe a diverse range of creatures, including tigers, bears, monkeys, lemurs, fish, and reptiles.
It's my first time to visit other country's local zoo. Brand new experience for me in my life. Tiger, Owl, Capypala, Lion, Giraffe, Crocodile, Camel, Zebra, Carrot, Lynx, Alpaca, Anaconda.... various animals in the wild. I love it. Tickets price is reasonable, transportation is very convenient by tram #1 between Brno Zoo and Brno downtown. Thanks Brno zoo and team.

An interesting place not only for children. Large enclosures for animals are well equipped. It is possible to climb to the highest point of the park in a special trolley. There is a cafe with snacks and drinks, a restaurant, and a toilet on the territory. You will find drinking water dispensers everywhere. There are playgrounds for children everywhere.

I recently had the opportunity to volunteer at Brno Zoo, helping with cleaning and maintenance, and I also spent time exploring the zoo afterward. The zoo is impressively wide and spacious, offering plenty of room to roam and discover a vast variety of animals. It truly felt like a well-maintained and safe environment, both for the animals and the visitors. Volunteering gave me a closer look at the effort that goes into keeping everything clean and comfortable for the animals. I highly recommend visiting if you want to see diverse wildlife and enjoy a safe, welcoming outdoor experience.

Smaller, more walk-y zoo. Student ticket price is very nice. I visited on a winter weekday and it was almost completely empty, which I really liked. From what I saw, there seem to be places to sit, eat or drink, but I only noticed one souvenir shop. My biggest point of excitement was the amount of uncommon animals we saw. Thing is, I'm not sure a casual visitor cares about the 6 different types of pigeon or lizards that one cannot see much elsewhere. The enclosures are decent from what I can tell, it didn't look like any of the animals suffered. I also liked that many animals got very close to the visitors and seemed somewhat curious. I'll probably visit again in the summer. One note I should mention - when I was visiting, the polar bear exhibit was closed and so the route was interrupted. Plus points for a zoo cat that crawled into my lap while I was sitting around, minus points for mice in parrot enclosure
Elajz M — Google review
I was quite affraid to visit this zoo after reading some bad reviews but after all was not dissapointed at all. Really cool perspective that it is located on the hill, I could've never imagened how good it would look and especially feel for animals who are tend to live not on the flat terrain. Yet it is quite outdated with some trashy benches but on other hand it is very organic and creates great atmosphere. There were SOME exhibitions closed but still plenty to see. We couldn't managed to go everywhere with our 2yo in 3 hours! Plenty places to eat, for kids to play and just relax. Not too crowded. Littlr train is great idea when you have small kids but it would be great if it was electric one, not the stinky.

Lady at the ticket booth was really impolite, otherwise the zoo was lovely. If you go during the week it’s almost empty, which is nice, however be prepared that most of the food stands will be closed.

Super nice zoo. Very wide-breeding and very natural as if you were walking through a forest. Most special is because of the design you can get very close to the animals and see them up close

Historical landmark
Villa Tugendhat, a masterpiece of modernist architecture, was designed by architect Ludwig van der Rohe in 1929 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The villa, located in a prestigious residential area, showcases an open-plan design and innovative use of materials such as onyx, chrome, travertine, and ebony. Guided tours offer visitors the chance to explore this iconic building that represents the cutting-edge technology and concepts of its time.
UNESCO World Heritage site. An absolutely must-see building designed by architect Mies van der Rohe. A quiet and relaxing place. We were only able to visit the exterior since the interior tours are fully booked three months in advance. Downstairs, there is a small shop with a few exhibition pieces and souvenirs
SIB — Google review
Amazing experience! An absolutely iconic building – Villa Tugendhat is a must-see. We only joined the outside tour, but the whole experience was much more than I expected. The architecture and atmosphere are truly breathtaking. Our tour guide was also fantastic – even though we booked in Czech (the only option available), we were kindly given information in English as well. A big thank you to our guide on August 19th at 10:30, who gave us extra explanations in English – it made the visit even more special. Highly recommended!

we were able to get last minute tickets for the outside tour. very informative and well worth it. thoroughly enjoyed. highly recommend.

The most impressive Mies van der Rohe villa I've ever visited. Overwhelming in its sheer size. The mandatory guided tour is of appalling quality. A young woman babbled indistinctly in a flat voice. The previous guide and his group ignored the allotted time, forcing our group to wait interminably and then being rushed through the villa at breakneck speed. Then there's the morbid realization that the Jewish initiators and residents, like virtually all artists in Czechoslovakia, even Cápek himself, were murdered by German Nazism.
John K — Google review
Villa Tugendhat has been on my list for years, but I never made the trip to Brno until now. It completely exceeded expectations. It’s huge — a dream for anyone who loves modernism and mid-century design. The views of the city and the surrounding park are stunning. The only caveat: the gift shop could use better designed merch, especially for a site this iconic. A must see visit in person
Adeline K — Google review
It was a shock for me to see such a futuristic villa in 1930 by the master Meis Von Der Rohe The main feeling it’s one floor amazing Design But soon you will see it is 2 floors I couldn’t get inside as it is Monday I had to sleep over on Brno to get inside it tomorrow It’s a must see for any architect or designer or art lover The round glass by the door is so advanced by that time and the opening through the building into the garden and the mountains of Brno is so advanced and timeless

A real must see when visiting Brno! The almost 100 year old villa is a design phenomenon with its breathtaking interiors, furniture and technology! Also a big shout out and thank you to our guide Sophia! 🥰 It was really nice to chat with her and her tour was nicely executed.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the heart of Brno, Czech Republic, Špilberk Castle is a captivating medieval fortress that dates back to the 13th century. Originally constructed by King Premysl Otakar II as a royal residence, it evolved into a formidable baroque stronghold and later gained notoriety as one of the most notorious prisons during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Known as 'the prison of nations,' its dungeons housed political prisoners and revolutionaries alike.
Climbing the castle was not easy in this incredible summer weather. People on foot should be careful. It must have been hard. It would have been nice if there was still shade of trees. The trees didn't block much sunlight. It was really hard to climb the hill in hot weather. Then I went into the museum of the castle, which was big and had several rooms, but it was not good because I had to carry and see a booklet in English. Viewing is possible up to the third floor. It was convenient because there was a clean bathroom.

Definitely worth a visit. You can spend hours here. I went for the museum and there are three levels you can explore. You get to learn about the castle‘s history and architecture. There are also exhibitions for you to explore and many art pieces for you to marvel at. Please note it is definitely a hike up! Recommend to wear appropriate shoes.

Špilberk Castle in Brno, Czech Republic, is a top destination for visitors seeking history and charm. Easily walkable from the city center, the castle offers a scenic uphill stroll with rewarding views. Its exhibitions are excellent, detailing the castle’s transformation from a medieval stronghold to a Baroque prison, with captivating displays of artifacts. The stories of prisoners, once confined in the castle’s eerie casemates, bring to life the harsh realities of their imprisonment under Habsburg rule. The castle’s restaurant, located on-site, provides a cozy spot to enjoy traditional Czech cuisine or lighter fare, complementing the nearby café for snacks and drinks. The highlight remains the castle’s beautifully tended garden, a tranquil oasis perfect for relaxing. Špilberk Castle blends rich history, engaging exhibits, dining options, and stunning gardens, making it a must-see in Brno.

The fortress is a wonderful place to spend some time. The walk up to the fortress is mildly strenuous but pleasantly green. The exhibitions are absolutely worth visiting and very comprehensive. The view from the fortress walls or its tower is also beautiful. Definitely a must-visit if you are in Brno.

The Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, situated atop Petrov Hill in the heart of Brno, is a remarkable Gothic Catholic cathedral with a Baroque interior. Its 84-meter-tall twin towers and splendid architecture make it one of the most important Czech cultural monuments. Visitors can climb the tower for panoramic views of Brno. The cathedral's history includes a legend about two feuding architects who incorporated statues of angels making unholy gestures towards each other into their respective churches.
St. Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of Brno’s most iconic and breathtaking landmarks. Perched on Petrov Hill, it offers spectacular views of the city and a striking silhouette visible from afar. The cathedral’s Gothic architecture, twin spires, and beautifully decorated interior create a powerful sense of history and spiritual grandeur. Inside, you’ll find stunning stained glass, ornate altars, and a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection. Don’t miss the climb to the tower, where the bells famously ring at 11 a.m. instead of noon. A visit here is a truly inspiring experience and a highlight of any trip to Brno.

The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul is a Roman Catholic cathedral located on the Petrov hill in the Brno-střed district of the city of Brno in the Czech Republic. It is commonly referred to locally as simply "Petrov". It is the seat of the Diocese of Brno and a national cultural monument that is one of the most important pieces of architecture in South Moravia. The interior is mostly Baroque in style, while the exterior shell is Gothic that dates mostly from the 14th century, and its impressive 84-metre-high towers were constructed to the Gothic Revival designs of the architect August Kirstein between 1901 and 1909. The original cathedral site dates to the 11th century. (Wikipedia)

Beautiful Gothic cathedral in Brno! The twin spires are iconic and visible from all over the city. Interior is gorgeous with beautiful stained glass and peaceful atmosphere. The climb to the tower is definitely worth it - amazing panoramic views of Brno and the surrounding countryside. Easy to reach in the city center. Free entry, small fee for tower access. A must-see landmark when visiting Brno!

What a lovely experience, got to the place right before the service finished (around 17 something on a Thursday), managed to catch the beautiful sounds of a large pipe organ - the sound was amazing. There is a park around the cathedral’s perimeter with beautiful surroundings, you can see the whole city from afar from different angles, there are also a few cafes to sit super close to the cathedral or you can simply relax and enjoy your time with your own food and drink on one of the numerous benches (with the backs) that are located across the area

Buchlov Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Buchlov Castle, one of the most massive Czech castles, is situated on a hill with the same name. The heavily fortified hilltop castle offers stunning views of the Chriby (Mars Mountains) from its observation tower. The castle houses a museum with artifacts from the area's history and offers several tours for visitors to explore its grounds and learn about its rich heritage. While there are ongoing renovations and limited amenities such as a gift shop, the informative guides make the visit worthwhile.
Nice castle, quite well known within the Czech Republic. They have several tours and even with kids of the age of 3 years you'll enjoy trip. Overall there are 3 main tours and then some more (but not so often) if I am not mistaken, there is one tour per 10-15 minutes. You don't need to buy tickets in advance. Maybe just for weekends when there will be more people coming, but when I went there on mid august, there was still approximately 10 places left for each tour. For English speakers, some tours will give you an English text so that's quite nice to have. As for a pictures, our guide told us that we can take them, but we cannot use flashlight (even tho the sign right below stairs says no pictures at all). The guide we had knew really a lot, and was able to answer all questions we gave her. As a bonus, there is a restaurant inside the castle. Not very big choice of food, but when you're hungry, you'll eat anything.

A beautiful castle with amazing view from up , we went walking from Smraďavka and the way was interesting , it took around an hour and half , the only thing which made us upset that it's not allow to take ur pet with u inside

It's a beautiful tower but if you are with small kids you will not be allowed to go inside the castle as it's possible to do only with a guide in a group and kids can disturb people around. The area "outside" the castle is free to visit. It's really small but you will find a lot of corners for good photo shoot. Near the castle is a place for parking (free) and cafe with simple food. There you can pay ONLY with CASH!!! So take enough of cash money. The road from parking to castle is easy, so you can go there with kids for sure.

It was an amazing place to visit and the views from the lookout were just plain WOW! The guide was very informative and when they heard me speaking English, a person came to me and handed me a booklet in English. I was able to follow along with what was being said. The Castle is out of the way, but so worth visiting. I can't give it a full 5 stars because there are renovations underway and there was no gift shop or place to buy things. Definitely a place to return to.

I think its sufficient for what it is. Got 2.5h entry was enough for me to have a swim, couple of slides on toboggans 🙈 relax in pools and 2 rounds of sauna upstairs. Its pretty much for families and kids. Not the sauna though. Had a hotdog when leaving. Parking was free as on Saturday afternoon a bit remote, not directly outside. The place was clean and well kept. I would consider coming again.

Quality information on the website, professional services. Snacks and buffet at fair prices, including daily menus. For me personally, it is one of the best aqua centers in Moravia regios. Self check-in machines are super helpful. It was limited for indoor activities so the price wasn’t that reasonable. It’s better to visit in summer season to enjoy outdoor slides. Most slides require two-three people.

Probably best Aquapark I have been to. Absolutely massive outdoor space. Only downside would be overpriced restaurant food. Beer is also bit pricey but compare to let's say uk pubs it's still affordable 85czk (3£) Our 4 year old loved every second there. Lots of kid pools and slides in different areas so you are not stuck in one location all day.

The lady chef in the restaurant kitchen took my food and threw it in the rubbish without saying anything. This kind of behavior is not acceptable. There was no one to take out complain at all. The price vs. quality and level of service is below any expectations.

We decided to try the 30-minute Salt Therapy experience at Aqualand Moravia, priced at 79 CZK per person, after carefully reading the description and information displayed outside. Based on that, we expected to enjoy a relaxing session with noticeable salty air and calming atmosphere. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all. Upon entering, there was no scent of salt or mineral air—only the smell of wooden benches. The temperature inside was exactly the same as outside the room, so there was no spa-like warmth or comfort. There was also no staff present to assist or explain anything about the experience. After about three minutes, we decided to leave, as the environment simply didn’t match what was described or expected. When we spoke with the manager, he explained how the salt spa supposedly works but did not listen to our feedback or concerns. Despite confirming we stayed only three minutes, the “best” solution offered was to not charge us for one entry instead of fully refunding us. Overall, this was a disappointing experience that could have been handled with more understanding and fairness. We would have been happy to pay if the session had provided even a hint of the salty air and relaxation it promised—but unfortunately, it did not.
Michal S — Google review
We visited on a weekday. We arrived at about 10am and had to wait about ten minutes to get in. We have been to many water parks as a family and this was probably in the top three. It seems small when you first enter but there are actually many different areas and the way it is organised is very clever. The best thing about it was the massive outdoor space and extremely hot outdoor pools, it works be great in the winter. You have to be able to understand Czech or German though to understand anything inside, English is not provided. One very strong criticism and sore point for me is the fact you have to pay for parking! Is absolutely scandalous as there is nothing else for miles around (so it’s not like people are trying to park there to go to a town centre, for example). Also, it’s even quite expensive, certainly not a nominal fee. It costs 70 czk which is about 3.50 USD. That policy needs to be reformed urgently.
Dora F — Google review
The place itself is wonderful.. they have a huge pool inside that leads you outside even in cold weather. There is also bunch of activities available like spa, water slides, hot pool and so on. The reason why I'm leaving 3 stars is because they don't tell you about the side effect of coming at lunch time on weekends and the aqualand is full. Than you have to face the long waiting line outside of the building in whatever weather and hope that you'll get inside in an hour. The tickets work best if you go there on week days soonest possible, otherwise you might end up turning back and trying to come back again next time. The prices however are usually really good based on what you get for it so I cannot badmouth on that.. all in all.. you'll get a quality service for a good price just think twice if there is a chance that you'll not be the only one with the thought of going there.

The Minaret, also known as the Turkish Tower, is a historic landmark dating back to 1804. Standing at a height of 60 meters with 302 steps leading to a turret lookout, it is adorned with Arabic decor and features spiral stairs. Situated in a multicultural area that was originally marshy but dried by people, the minaret was built on wooden stakes before 200 years ago.
From Lednice castle, you can get there either by boat or on foot. We walked and it was pleasant. Building itself is unique and inside interior is also very interesting and pretty. You can get a nice view from the Miranet, they offer three view point, smaller as you go up.

Have fast food near, good views around. But the stair railings at the walkway to the top of the tower are a bit wide. Horrible I feel worried if children can fall down.

Pretty building located in the heart of the Lednice cultural landscape. You can access the top to enjoy an amazing view of the lakes

A great way to take a look at Lednice castle and the surrounding UNESCO garden. The steps are also a good way to get some cardio
Tadej M — Google review
Definetly worth a visit. A nice walk and you can go on the top part for the view. We didn't go as we had a small child but it was not expensive. There is a food cabin just outside selling food drinks and souvenirs. You can catch a boat from here to visit the other castle. The Minaret was full of scratches and graffiti which was a pity.
Charles A — Google review
Minaret is actually a visual termination of vista created for the palace. The interesting part is the water body between the palace and the minaret. There is a boat service that takes you to the minaret through another stream of the water body. That journey is interesting and fun.
Pushkar K — Google review
Beautiful view, which is totally worth the walk from the castle. Only con is the number of flies at the very top but I'm giving it 5 stars anyway.
Martin V — Google review
Minaret in Lednice - an interesting Moorish style and at the same time The oldest romantic building in the Lednice-Valtice area, from the years 1797 - 1802, is located near the castle in Lednice. It is the largest building of its kind in non-Islamic countries. The height is over 60 meters, from the top you can see the distant surroundings. On the 1st floor is restored lounges. The building lies at an altitude of 175 m above sea level, is visible from a wide area, a beautiful view is a view through the park from Lednice Castle. Minaret has three observation decks and 302 steps lead to the highest. You can walk to the lookout tower after a 1.5 km journey through the castle park along the plain or you can take a boat ride along the castle Dyje from the pier at the castle.

Castle Lednice, a stunning 19th-century palace, is a true gem of the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape and boasts one of the most beautiful English Neo-Gothic complexes in Europe. Originally serving as a summer residence for the Lichtenstein family, it offers various guided tours showcasing its magnificent interiors. The French garden with a palm greenhouse, Masonic garden, and expansive chateau park seamlessly blend into the surrounding countryside.
One of the most visited castle in Czech Republic, a very big castle, wonderful architecture, well maintained, beautiful garden and flower greenhouse. You need to allocate time to be able to walk everywhere and feel the atmosphere. Big parking outside of the castle, you can eat also in the small town near castle.
Monica A — Google review
A beautiful place, a palace with impressive architecture and simply amazing gardens. We didn't go into the palace itself but we walked around the gardens for about an hour. If you have a lot of free time, you can spend much more here. Well-maintained gardens, so many flowers and greenery. A perfect maze. You can easily spend and walk around here for half a day.
Eddy T — Google review
A very fascinating and well maintained place worth a quick visit. Some items like self standing staircases are fascinating to watch. Also each room furniture has been maintained pretty well. The floor, the walls, roofs all look to have been preserved very well. Only possible to visit as a part of guided tour, which takes place only in Czech language. But not an issue since they provide written guiding text in other languages. The young lady leading the tour was friendly and asked if there was a question, she was happy to answer individually in English. The tour takes around 40-50 Minutes. The staff at reception doesn't speak English. Luckily one lady was able to speak German so it was possible to get information nevertheless.

Very interesting design of a castle for this parts of Europe. The design looks like a British castle. The grounds have wonderful gardens and you have a nice opportunity to stroll around them. We didn’t have the opportunity to go inside the castle. The trees and the flowers are around the castle were wonderful.
Anand — Google review
Went here as part of a tour with side trip tours. We stayed about 40 minutes only walking around the outside. It was beautiful and there’s a restaurant across the way too. Nice to stroll through the garden if you’re nearby.

Was her for the first time. Place looks stunning. The guide was great. Will definitely come back again as we did not saw it all.

It's absolutely worth visiting especially in Spring, and the beginning of Summer. (When I was). It's a perfect place to take an amazing pic for those fans of photography. The path through the garden is amazing with lots of flowers around. The work done by the workers there is non-stop to make it look to perfection. Would highly recommend it combined with a tour in the vineyards around.

Baroque palace with guided tours taking in royal apartments, a chapel, herb gardens & wine cellars.
Very nice place, so much history and interesting things to see. We also participated in a wine tasting session provided by the restaurant, with wines produced locally. It was excellent!

guided tours only in the Czech language when only one tourist spoke this language. The woman in the cashier speaks only Czech, and the explanations are just dull. A castle like many others, not Unesco at all , but there still are some beautiful things

Big and beautiful castle in a wine region. The small town that surrounds it is also charming. Compared to other castles it is easy to reach, you don't have to climb to the top of the hills.

Beautiful Valtice castle and park in Moravia region. For me it was only stepover but it's worth coming here for 2-3 days. Vineyards, typical small Czech towns, great trails for hiking or cycling.

Great barock palace. Big garden area, in palace can visit only with guided tours. Walking around palace and in gardens are free. In palace is also restaurant, souvenir shop. Near Palace is local wine shop. Near the Palace is a lot parking areas, but you must pay for parking. Worth to visit.

Beautiful palace, with interesting exposition. Problem is that you can visit only as a part of the group, and the guide speaks only in Czech, and tourists from abroad can only read information from the leaflets. It is kind of funny that the time stopped in the 80ties and special protective shoes are required to enter the exhibition.

Smolenický castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Smolenice Castle, located just north of Trnava in Slovakia, is a historic 13th-century castle that was extensively rebuilt in the 1950s while retaining its ancient charm. The main tower offers stunning views of the Carpathian Mountains and has hosted significant historical events, including a meeting between Nikita Khrushchev and John Kennedy.
Small but beautiful castle! Worth to see! They have the excursions, the duration is 1 hour. You have a short tour in the castle and going up to the tower. Nice place for weekend.
Natalie R — Google review
Very beautiful castle, very nice view from the tower and very friendly staff. The information on the website and what you get at the location itself does not match. The tour is only in Slovak, only translations are available in English on the sheet. Considering the price, I recommend visiting this castle. However, it is a very small castle and you do not need more than 1 hour to visit it.
Nina Z — Google review
A beautiful castle with guided tours every hour, but the biggest highlight is the view from the lookout tower. It can get a bit windy up there, but you get a stunning view of the whole area. The castle is located on a hill, making it ideal for weddings or weekend stays. It was a wonderful experience for us, and we definitely recommend visiting.
Patrik P — Google review
Smolenice Castle is very beautiful. It’s definitely a place worth visiting. The interior of the castle is not as rich in furnishings or historical displays—if that’s what you’re after, Červený Kameň Castle is a better choice. However, the walk to the castle, the views of it, and also the views from the castle tower are fantastic. There’s a small restaurant in the courtyard, so you can grab a coffee or a snack. Overall, I’d probably give it 4 stars, but what really matters is the attitude and service provided—and this time, the girls selling tickets and guiding the tour were very kind and even willing to do a special mini version of the tour for foreign tourists. We truly appreciated that. Thank you!
Richard R — Google review
An interesting castle in Smolenice, 20 minutes drive from Trnava. There is no special parking. Visitors have to park about 1 km from the castle in front of a traffic sign, which prohibits further movement. The territory of the park is very well maintained. Entrance into the castle is possible only with a tour, it costs 5 euros. The excursion is interesting. The guide (a young girl) speaks English quite fluently. Recommended for a visit!

We visited Smolenice Castle, just north of Trnava. It is one of the youngest castles in Slovakia, and it resembles a castle from the Harry Potter movies. It was designed by the same architect who designed Bojnice Castle, another beautiful castle in Slovakia. We paid for a guided tour, and the young lady who led the tour provided us with useful information about the castle's history, development, and former owners. I highly recommend visiting this amazing castle and taking a guided tour.

Amazing place just few km from Bratislava
Sasha P — Google review
Castle built around 1900; some parts finished later after WWII. History shown on pictures inside. I am little bit confused with overall impressions. In my view castle is a mix of historical elements and socialistic building construction methods. Not saying it’s completely bad; but how socialists re-built the castle is evident everywhere (concrete floors like in socialistic apartment houses). Here and there just add some concrete just to quickly finish re-construction with limited or no sense for histrionic feelings and details. Inside the castle is a regular hotel operated by “public organization”. No historical artifacts can be found inside. Limited budget availability of public organization is represented in the building equipment; eg. carpets are old and smelly. I was expecting much much higher level when saying “Castle”. Restaurant is nice; surrounding area with Park as well.

This is an amazing place! So impressive how they saved houses from complete destruction by moving them to that museum. One house even saw the 30 year long war... It's definitely a must-see!!!

You could see there so many buildings inside with equipment, animals, tools. It is amazing how the village was prepared. I have enjoyed a lot with ma 9 and 10 years daughters. I really like I could take my dog with me! On parking space there are three places for campers where you could plug electricity (it was for free).
Jan K — Google review
Generally loved the place as it is rather cute and quaint, but it felt deserted and underwhelming in terms of livestock. No horses or cattle, the beautiful geese had no body of water despite the scorching heat. I just think this could and should be done so much more educational and brought to life (look at Schloss Hof for inspiration). The little restaurant was good but again one could offer a bit more variety for the non meat lovers?
Thomas F — Google review
Very interesting open-air museum. It is a collection of farmers houses from the past century or earlier with all their belongings. A farm has some live animals. Good for both kids and adults. There is a lot to see, so reserve at least a half-day. The entrance fee is a bit high, however the kids can attend for free.

A museum village with lovingly furnished houses for the whole family, including dogs! The highly recommended guided tour and the four-language information boards provide a good insight into rural life in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition, there are exhibitions in individual houses on topics such as Protestantism and South Moravia. A restaurant serving vegan and vegetarian dishes and a wine bar cater for your physical well-being.

Absolutely worth every cent. Museum under the sky the size of the village. There are several houses you can actually touch everything and even lie down on the bed or touch real old clothing. But mostly it is for watching only. However, there is also a small garden there and apple trees and you are encouraged to eat what you find there. My 4yo was really excited about the place. There is also a cafeteria. The playground outside the place took another half an hour of our time)) would love to come back.

A beautiful and well-preserved castle with a rich history! The guided tour was interesting, and the guide did a great job sharing information with some fun stories. The massive cellars surprised me the most – they’re said to be among the largest in Central Europe. The surrounding area is great for walks, and the view is absolutely worth it. I also recommend the café near the castle, where you can enjoy a coffee with a nice view. If you’re in the area, don’t miss this place!

A fascinating place to come and see - even though you can't really see the castle in the usual sense unless you have a drone (and hence my score of 4\5). I recommend getting onto one of the guided tours - whether you wait for the English one is up to you, but we didn't. Access to a lot of the castle is available only on a tour. The foundations and cellar are definite highlights.

Man selling ticket was very miserable, he obviously hate his job. It's a first person you have contact with on visit, why would you place there someone like that? The tour guide was absolutely brilliant, know what they talking about and enjoying it. Castle itself it's worth visiting. Very big. Small tour is about an hour but big tour is 1 hour and 15min. It's worth every euro.

Vino Fiala fit us in for a Sunday tasting with just a day’s notice, and it was lovely! We were greeted with a table set outside in the charming courtyard and enjoyed tasty snacks while sampling a number of delicious wines, along with information, history and anecdotes from the local area and the family business and a tour of the cellar. Thanks Martín!

We had an amazing experience at Vino Fiala with Martin. He was such a welcoming host and absolutely full of knowledge. Every wine we tasted was outstanding quality. We booked as we are interested in wine and we learnt a good deal about Slovakian wine and the different varietals. The food provided was also delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to come again one day. Thanks, Martin!

Absolutely fantastic - we planned a very last minute trip and hadn’t realised we needed to book for the wine cellars. Luckily we caught Martín on the way out to work on the vineyard and he so kindly agreed to give us an impromptu tasting. He was so lovely and knowledgeable about both the wine but also the history of the town and of Slovakia. I’d highly recommend booking with him, and we will definitely do so if we come back!

Martin kindly welcomed us at the last minute for a tasting at his estate. We were very well received, with a lovely platter of cheese and cold cuts. The palace, originally built in 1726, exudes Baroque magnificence with its elaborate design and stylized features meticulously preserved inside the building. Visitors can spend hours exploring the vast estate, including the beautiful gardens where they can find camels, horses, donkeys, and various plants for relaxation and picnics.
We visited Schloss Hof over the weekend and were really impressed. The estate is beautifully maintained, the gardens are stunning, and the historic buildings create a wonderful atmosphere. There’s plenty to explore, and it’s highly recommended for group visits. The combination of history, architecture, and nature makes it a truly enjoyable experience

The castle was badly damaged before. After various assessments and expertise, the castle was completely renovated during 2004-2009. The entrance ticket (21euro) is valid for entry to this castle and Niederweiden. By the way, you can visit them on different dates, the ticket is valid until 01.11.23. Huge free parking. Hrad Devín, a partially reconstructed medieval castle, offers breathtaking views of the Danube and Morava rivers. The site dates back to the 5th century and provides panoramic vistas of the Slovakian countryside and across the border to Austria. Nestled atop a formidable hill, it is easily accessible via moderate walking trails. After exploring the castle, visitors can further enjoy the surrounding grounds or grab a meal at nearby eateries.
Definitely a must that one should visit during his stay at Bratislava. Easy to travel from the city centre either by bus or by cab. There is a fee to pay to enter the castle. Beautiful scenery all around the castle. Important to wear comfortable shoes as there are stairs to go up the castle. Prepare to take a lot of magnificent photos. Toilets available and are very clean.

not too impressing fortress, quite small, but it’s cheap to come here by local bus #29 which takes 20 minutes, €1.2 one way. Entrance fee of €8 is acceptable. The view of the river & the lower fortress from the upper is good. A good getaway from the city for half day.

A bit dissapojnting they had it closed because of “weather” when there were no issues and then it was opened but not to the top, it was barely windy.. it is a nice castle to visit. Beautiful views of the Danube. Unlike many places in Bratislava, there are explanations though not all of the translated.

Well worth a visit. We went later in the day and brought a picnic. Very informative, beautifully looked after. Also there was a lovely walk by the Danube afterwards to get back on bus 29 further down the route. We were t up for cycling when we went but this is easily possible from Bratislava. We would definitely visit again.

Stunning view from the top of the castle. Well signposted to help you navigate around the grounds. There’s two small museums as well, that I thoroughly enjoyed. €8 entry fee, I spent around 2 hours taking photos, walking around, reading through everything and taking in the sights. In addition to its animal residents, the zoo features a unique DinoPark with animated, life-size sculptures and a 3D cinema, making it an ideal destination for families and couples alike.
Absolutely lovely experience. Last time I visited was at least a decade ago and I can see all the positive changes done to the area. Payment for entrance is possible by cash, card or Multisport (which was a nice surprise). There are maps and way signs everywhere making it easy to navigate the vast area. Getting here on a not scorching hot day is advised as the visit includes a lot of walking. Reserve at least 3-4 hours to see everything at least briefly or more if you want to read all the information. There is also a small train going through the area for a reasonable price. There are options for refreshments in the area if you need a small break. Don't forget to visit the indoor expositions of more animals. These areas were especially nicely surprising. The employees were nice, despite us leaving very close to the closing time they knew we were excited to see the animals and we didn't feel like we were being rushed out. Overall a very nice experience and definitely coming back soon.

We had a great day here, a wonderful zoo! We arrived just before 10am and the free car park was already about 80% full so it's worth getting there early if you're driving. There's a big sign warning you not to leave valuables in the car but we didn't see any sign of break-ins The zoo is great, €27 for a family ticket which we thought was very reasonable. The animals all seem well cared for and many of the enclosures are wonderfully large and modern, offering the animals lots of privacy but still good viewing for the public! We had a super time here, spent over 5 hours wandering around (we didn't bother with the train, the walk is very manageable and not too steep). There are lots of picnic areas and a wonderful playground.

The best zoo I have ever been to! An enormous selection of beautiful animals to see. If you wanna see the rhinos and the llamas I recommend you to take the small bus that operates in the zoo and not decide to walk because you’ll run out of breath until you reach the top.

Bratislava Zoo is a beautiful place full of peace and nature right in the heart of the city. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of rest areas, snack spots, and playgrounds — perfect for families or anyone looking for a relaxing day out. Highly recommended for all animal and nature lovers — a wonderful way to spend a day in Bratislava! 🐘🦒🌿

Generally a nice zoo with many animals. It's not the best zoo I've been to, but I guess it's the best to I've been to in Slovakia (full disclosure: I haven't been to Košice and I don't know if they have a zoo). It's a pretty spacious zoo. If you come at a good time, your can see a lot. Also, if you want a zoo that you don't need the whole day to see, then this is a good pick. When compared to the zoos in Zlín and Prague, it is smaller, but at least you can see everything at an average pace. There are places to eat and spaces for children. There's even a petting zoo although we didn't go there with my daughter. I got yelled at a bit by a staff member because he thought I was touching the bisons. I was OK with that, because I understand it really looked as if I was touching them although I wasn't. They came very close to me and my daughter and we were admiring them. A shop keeper told us a few stories about the ostriches and how they behave with staff members. They were very nice to us in general. So we had a great experience I'd say. Finally, I'd say the prices were reasonable in general, whether it be tickets or the food inside.

Had a lovely afternoon, beware there are very steep inclines and stairs, for those with reduced mobility it maybe best to use the train with small fee to get to the top of areas and walk down. Good variety of animals and some local to the area.

Overall really good, there's a lot of space for the animals. We didn't saw the volwes but it's ok. There wasn't a big line, as the forecast said it will rain.

Loved the zoo. The lion was pacing by the glass so was able to see it so close. Also the bear was sitting up and could see him close as well.
