What a lovely place, very interesting and plenty to see. When we went it was awful weather so we stayed inside. There was an event talking about bees, honey etc, it was very good and we learnt a lot. We explored around the castle and all the history of farming and lifestyle back in the day. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The little cafe was very good too. This place is well worth a visit. Maybe next time we can explore the grounds too.

Really enjoyed the tour of the house. Its so interesting and the guides were wonderful. I was angry to hear they are volunteers. I feel the estate can well afford to pay them. I have worked as a guide in the past and its not as easy as it looks. The ladies we had could answer any questions asked and were so friendly and welcoming. They really knew their history of the estate The museum was very interesting too. The grounds are lovely but unfortunately it was raining. We had lunch in the café which was nice.

Lovely place to visit. It is extremely well kept with interesting museums and tours. The grounds are just amazing for walking through and there are interesting points of interest. There's a cafe and gift shop here too and there was plenty of parking when we went. Entry price was reasonable and we had a very nice day out here. Would recommend a trip here.

Absolutely stunning castle grounds and lakes! The castle itself; inside was like stepping back in time. The place is preserved to a high standard and well worth the money for a tour. Margaret was our tour guide and she’s exceptional and very knowledgable! I will be back again!

I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered Johnstown Castle – what an absolute gem! The grounds are stunning, with beautifully maintained gardens that are perfect for a long, relaxing walk. We spent around 4 hours exploring and still felt like there was more to see. On-site, there’s a lovely gift shop with souvenirs and local products, as well as a cozy café – both great stops to round off the visit. But what truly made our experience unforgettable was our guide, Margot (I hope I spelled her name correctly). She is an amazing storyteller, bringing the history of the castle and the family who lived there to life in such a captivating way. You can really see how much joy and passion she has for sharing these stories – we were completely impressed and inspired by her. This place is magical, and I recommend it one million percent. If you’re in Ireland, Johnstown Castle is an absolute must-visit!

An excellent option for a great day out. We booked in advanced and had a fabulous guide show us the castle interior. Really interesting history. A short walk and a lovely lunch in the restaurant before heading home. Well worth the visit.

The whole family had an amazing day at Johnstown Castle. All the staff at reception were so welcoming when we arrived. They went above and beyond to make this a very special day for our family. They even organising a golf buggy for our nanny to travel in style to and from the castle. Our tour guides were amazing, they were so knowledgable and we loved listening to the stories and the history of this beautiful place. Thank you so much for helping us celebrate our Nanny’s birthday and making it a day she will never forget.

Spent a couple of days staying at Wells House in Dec for their Santa experience. Have to say I was very impressed with the house, gardens, farm and Santa experience! The staff were welcoming upon arrival. Despite it being really busy, the lady drove with us to our cottage to show us around and explain everything. We stayed in an old cottage connected to a disused walled garden near the farm. The cottage is fine for a short stay, beds were comfortable. The cottage is across the road from the cowshed, so u might hear the occasional moo. The house & gardens were tastefully decorated. The experience itself was great, kids got to make baubles and get their reindeer food ready. The big man was holed up in the main house which is in need of restoration in places but really looked the part. There is a restaurant onsite where we had coffee and snacks, it was decent. I will return in the summer for a proper kick around the gardens.

It's fabulous. Well worth a visit. Stunning Estate House, beautiful gardens. We went for the antique and vintage car show which was fantastic. We will go back to do the House Tour. 9 euros to see the grounds, gardens and cottages, another 8 euros if you would like a tour of the house. I highly recommend this beautiful place.

We stayed 2 nights in the gardeners cottage and had a fantastic time. The cottage has access to the main grounds after the house closes to the public in an evening. The cottage was clean and well appointed.

Fantastic grounds, kept immaculate. Amazing yearly car show huge range of vehicles very relaxed and family friendly. A must for any car enthusiast.

Spent a few hours here with our grandchildren. They have a small playground suitable for young children. If you like walking, they have a few walking trails, and one is a fairy walk for children. They do have a cafe that was open with limited service. You can pay to have a tour of the house which we didn't do.

A very nice country house with huge grounds. Very nice easy walks through the woods with lots of sculptures to keep the kids amused. The animals in the farm are nice to see as well. Very recommended, and only €9 entry for an adult!

It was a very informative visit. Amazing park with plenty to see from viking weapons to houses ancestors used to build. Loads of toilets in the park along the path, which is easy to walk through, even for the little ones. There are few interactive things for kids to try. Little pond with ducks and dragonflies in the middle. Falconry was included in the main entry, which was a bonus.

A top class experience for locals and tourists, and adults as well as kids. The site is beautifully put together, informative, and very walkable with lots of places to pause en route and enjoy the views. Meeting with white-faced owl, Oscar, and his wonderful handler, Jim, was a highlight for us. Not one to miss.

I could not praise this place enough, from the minute we arrived this place had the wow factor. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. They were knowledgeable and courteous, Susan, one of the guides was a lady, so positively interactive with the children engaging them with fun facts and delivering information that intrigued us adults too. She and her counterpart whose name I did not catch are both mines of information. Both deliver the history and information in a way that fills one with wonder, amazement and wanting more. The fact they were dressed in clothing that was in keeping with the history and buildings was an added bonus. The attractions themselves are amazing, it's like taking a trip back in a time machine. Some were like movie sets, capturing in reality what we've seen on TV and learned in school. The grounds are spotless and well kept. The view onto the river, the facilities, the playground,the restaurant, bathrooms nothing could be faulted, unless it was mentioned maybe to add some more pieces in the fairy garden. Activities such as panning for gold and meeting the birds at the Bird Sanctuary were great fun for us all. We had a busy day and my 7yr old travelling companions named here as their favourite place all day. I and the boys would definitely recommend a visit. Allow plenty of time to take in the tours, experience the magic of the place and the time travelling experience.

This park located outside Wexford is well worth the visit for those interested in learning about the first inhabitants of Ireland and how life has changed over the millenia and centuries. The constructed a monastery to show how those who created the Book of Kells may have lived. It presents what happened when the Vikings arrived and later the Normans and English. Also presented is background on structures like stone circles and their vintage

Excellent place to visit, staff are extremely knowledgeable and it is well worth planning your trip to include one of the tours. We did the Age of Invasion tour and it was super. The park is huge and has lots of different places to visit.

Definitely worth a visit, excellent craftsmanship and each section laid out perfectly . Plenty of car parking. The centre, shop, restaurant and toilets all very high standard.

I have fantastic childhood memories of this place and I was so excited to bring my own kids here. We really enjoyed the viking experience and the tours although I think they could do more with the tours. I found them very interesting but quite fact heavy. With the infrastructure I think for kids there could be tours with people dressed up explaining how they lived and what they ate etc. back then.

Just a stone’s throw from Gorey, Kia Ora Mini Farm is an amazing petting zoo and activity-packed farm that’s perfect for kids of all ages. There’s a huge variety of animals to see and interact with – from beautiful birds to rabbits, guinea pigs, and more. All the enclosures are spotless and the animals look incredibly well cared for. The layout of the farm is excellent and really easy to get around, with loads of fun activities for children – including go-karts, diggers, a maze, and plenty of open space to explore. There’s also a lovely café where both kids and adults can relax and refuel after all the excitement. The entry fee is very reasonable, especially considering how much is on offer. The staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with – so friendly and welcoming. We even met the owner on the way in, who greeted us with a smile, some jokes, and a great sense of humour, making the visit feel really personal and memorable. All in all, it’s a fantastic spot for a family day out – can’t recommend it highly enough!

A perfect place to visit with children. We went with our 9yo son and he had a blast. There are tiny ride on tractors everywhere, go carts, actual real, engine powered, working diggers and a lot more activities. There are a lot of friendly animals that may be pet(if they feel like they want they’ll approach you), although you won’t normally get into an enclosure with them. There’s a cow milking simulator which is relatively close to an actual thing. There are also activities like football, fire engine that you can take a ride in, museum of miniature tractors and fire trucks (tiny models) and quite a lot more. Entrance is only €10 and cafe with sandwiches is really affordable! €4-€5 for a toasted sandwich. Very friendly staff and clean toilets. Worth a trip. We really spend a great day there.

A great place to bring the family for a few hours. Lots to see, something for everyone. Loved that there was so many toy tractors,trikes for kids to use throughout the grounds. Picnic area available if you bring your own packed lunch/snacks. So many different animals. Great business.

Highly recommend this place for families so much to do. You could send whole day there. Petting areas, loads of playgrounds, bikes for kids to cycle, you can get a ride on a fire engine. Football golf, a maze, a cycling track. New playground under construction. You can play with real diggers. Big picnic area and cafe. All round great day out.

Lovely place for a relaxed family day out…. but please please please take the TV screen out of the fire truck, a too loud TV with cartoons is the exact opposite of what we want from a day on the farm. Also Ideally take the stickers off the windows so all kids can see out and maybe make the view more interesting with a different route or more animals…also block the mess of broken stuff on the left. It could be so cool!

This is such a cute mini farm with something for everyone in the family! We did a day trip from Dublin with our 4 year old girls. Everybody had a great time. Highly recommend!!! We arrived early around 10:45am on a Sunday. It was perfect as there wasn't that many people until we were ready to leave around 2pm. The whole place is clean, organized, and there's no overwhelming smell like you would expect in a farm. The animals all seem to be very well taken care of. The girls liked seeing and learning about different animals. There are loads of little bikes and toy tracker things you can ride around in the whole farm. The girls had a ball switching to different things around the farm. Highlights are below: 1) Bunny barn: the girls enjoyed the little bench area where they got to pet a bunny in a basket beside them. 2) Diggers: they absolutely LOVED operating the real thing. We got to go again and again as there wasn't anyone in the queue. 3) Go cart: the girls are too young for the singles so we did the quads first and settled with the tandems to race. It was quite the workout for my husband and I as the girls wanted to race with each other. Had a blast! 4) Crazy football: the girls love crazy golf so this was no different. A good level of challenge but not too difficult so they can actually get the ball into the bucket. My husband had fun with this too! 5) Sandpit: nothing more I need to say. Kids love this kind of things! 6) Playground: it's right beside the picnic tables. Good size and it has something for all ages. 7) Fire engine: while it's cool but once you are in, you can't really tell you are in a fire engine.

Wow. What an amazing experience. Been there a few times with our two boys, and it's clearly loved by both parents and children equally. What a brilliantly laid out place...massive selection of animals, from rabbits that can be petted, to all manner of chickens and roosters, to various breeds of ox, sheep, llamas and alpacas. Play areas, a giant maze, crazy football, diesel powered mini diggers, a full on working hop on, hop off fire engine that brings you on a drive through the farm....the list goes on! Lovely little shop and restaurant also. Love it!

Just had a wonderful guided tour with Alan. An insiders view of the oldest mill in Ireland. See first how master artisans craft handmade and high quality fabric and continue the mills 300 year tradition. The whole family enjoyed the tour and then lunch at the cafe.

Went on a Monday thinking we’d have lunch and tour the center. Very disappointed that the weaving shed was closed, the store was open but we bought a few things to take home and then had lunch. The vibe in the restaurant wasn’t good and the food was terrible 😞 which had the potential to be so much better. Also has the worlds closest urinals!

A bit on the pricey side, but the quality is worth it.

Alan took us on a brilliant tour where we got to learn the history, ups n downs and current status of this still-working weavers. Yay to the Wynne sisters! We got to meet some of the contemporary master weavers who work there now, and watch them at work both on traditional and modern looms. Whether you're a textile geek or a total novice you'll find this interesting. Great team in the shop too! Thankyou for all your help ladies.

Absolutely brilliant! Our tour guide (whose name sadly escapes me) was an incredible fountain of knowledge, sharing fascinating facts with enthusiasm. Cheerful, engaging, and very skilled in his role, he made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. The visit was both entertaining and informative—definitely worth it and highly recommended.

A beautiful location! I loved the tour — the guide was a great storyteller, sharing lots of interesting information with a good sense of humor. The Fresnel lens is absolutely magical. It’s very relaxing to enjoy a coffee while taking in the stunning view of the cliffs. I also bought a lovely painting, made on slate, from a local artist who offers workshops — a wonderful souvenir from the visit.

It's now called Ladyville House as the new LUXURY owers are trying to play down it's very notable haunted and turbulent past.But you can't change the spots on a leopard nor can you erase decades of unrest in a-stately manse for all the money you throw at it.Having visited the Hall I can tell you that cursed land is cursed land no matter what you build on it. Mind you Ireland needs-another snobby 5star hotel like it needs another overpriced restaurant where none of the locals could ever hope to stay or eat in. So far Ladyville House has delayed its opening yet again with no update on work proceeding or hotel opening as the PressUp group is busy with buying U2's hotel in Dublin. So Loftus Hall i.e Ladyville House remains empty...🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔wonder if the ghosts had anything to do with it?

This is a most unexpectedly pleasant spot! Great history with medieval walks and old ruins. Informative guides or self guided tour available. Fabulous gardens with on site made apple juice and cider cafe. A stunning spot! €21 for a family ticket if 2 adults, 1 x 20 yr old and 1 x under 18. U18’s go free. There is also a trail which ends at a local pub/restaurant that serves high quality food.

Tintern Abbey is a breathtaking site that beautifully blends history, nature, and tranquility. Surrounded by lush woodlands and peaceful walking trails, the abbey ruins are incredibly well-preserved and atmospheric. The towering stone arches and intricate details evoke a deep sense of wonder and reverence for the past. It’s easy to imagine the monks who once lived and worked here. The guided signs and information panels enhance the visit without disrupting the serenity of the space. We especially loved the nearby bridge and the scenic walk through the forest and along the river. It’s a perfect stop for history buffs, families, or anyone looking for a peaceful escape in County Wexford.

Really beautiful & atmospheric ruins. Spent about an hour here exploring. Could have done with a few more information panels around the site, but overall I really enjoyed. The lady at the reception desk this morning was super friendly and helpful

Have been here couple of times already. It's always a good place to come back. The ruins have a garden. What's more important you can take one of the pathways and go near the bank river all around and relax.

Glendalough Cathedral is without a doubt one of the highlights of this historic monastic site. Walking among the ruins, you can almost feel the centuries of history that shaped this valley. The cathedral itself, though roofless, is truly impressive in its scale and detail. The stonework and arches tell stories of a time when Glendalough was a thriving center of faith and learning, and it is fascinating to imagine how it must have looked in its full glory. What I love most about this place is the atmosphere. Surrounded by peaceful mountains and old gravestones, the cathedral feels both grand and serene. It’s a perfect spot to pause, reflect, and take in the deep sense of history. Every corner is incredibly photogenic – from the tall stone walls to the ancient Celtic crosses scattered around the grounds. The area is well maintained, and there is a spacious parking lot nearby with a one-time daily fee, as well as free toilet facilities and small food stalls, which make the visit convenient. But what makes this site truly special is the sense of stepping back in time. If you are a history lover, a photographer, or simply someone who enjoys exploring unique cultural sites, Glendalough Cathedral is a must-see. I always leave this place inspired and grateful to experience a piece of Ireland’s soul. Definitely worth visiting – and worth sharing!

Historic, monastic site with 2 lakes of natural beauty. The old mine starts the Wicklow Way walk. All free - go early as both carparks fill up quickly and charge around €5 some free on Street parking around the hotel area.

This monastic centre beautifully situated in a mountain valley in the heart of Wicklow, the garden of Ireland, is what the room dedicated to it in the Historical Museum on Kildare Street Dublin, refers to as the Rome of Ireland. This may be in a sense, true spirituality but its collection of ruined buildings pales starkly in comparison to the aforementioned Italian capital's. That said it is still well worth a visit to this monastery village and the surrounding area that gives us a glimpse back into times when Ireland was a thriving ecclesiastical centre while most of the rest of Europe had been plunged by the fall of the same Rome into the Dark ages.

By far the largest structure in the ancient monastic site and the only one you can enter. It's very big, and despite not having a roof anymore, some of the Arches are still somewhat intact. It's a must-see in the monastic site. Just be warned that the doorway can be muddy.

Three of us visited the Glendalough Monastic City yesterday. A place we shouldn’t have missed visiting while in Dublin. The tall round tower is the most prominent feature in the place. The access into the tower is from an opening at a higher level using a tall ladders. This is to protect clergy from the Vikings, as we understand. There are tomb stones we sighted recent as 2001. Not clear to us if this is still considered to be a burial site for the community around.

What an amazing place! Very historic. Super glad we stopped and walked around. Definitely staying a few days when I go back.

This is a beautiful spot in the monastic city that is a short walk over to St. Kevin’s Monastery. The landscape here is beautiful, I came here as part of a tour and it was lovely, I’d enjoy more time spent here walking around.

Would recommend anyone to visit. The Dunbrody ship is an exact replica of the actual famine ship. Our tour guide Orla was very knowledgeable and friendly. You have as much free time as you like to explore the museum once your tour is done. It was also my birthday and the staff kindly sang me happy birthday.

A fantastic guided tour by Ann-Marie, I believe which is run hourly, and also the actresses who played two different characters with real names from the Dunbrody. One character from the upper first class deck and another from steerage of the ship. Both had very interesting monologues and stories! The video and exhibition space they had was also very good. O relax, I’d definitely recommend a visit.

This is a must. The story told about this ship and the people that were on it was captivating. The staff did an amazing job showing and explaining what happened and why. It's about the famine and immigration of the Irish people to America. Well worth a visit.

If you are near New Ross, this is worth stopping by. The tour happens every hour and is worth going on. The staff are very knowledgeable and it's amazing to see what a famine ship looked like.

Energetic and interactive tour, with some actors. Appeared to give a really good insight into the ship, its role of it and similar others at its time at a key point in history. Enjoyable and glad we made the detour for it. Nice cafe upstairs does breakfast and cakes etc really friendly and couldnt fault either. Small generic gift shop at the end nothing special but it doesnt need to be as its not like you want to buy a rat or able to buy a piece of the real boat 😆.

We popped into the cafe for a spot of lunch. The food was delicious. Well worth the trip.

Wicklow Mountains National Park is an absolutely gorgeous environment! The scenery and landscape are breathtaking. You really need to spend a good amount of time here to explore and walk around. It’s beautiful from every angle.

Beautiful stunning landscape! It has 2 beautiful lakes and several tracking paths. Ideal for having a walk or a picnic. It has 2 car parks but if you decide to go on a weekend or bank holiday i would advise to go really early. Roads are narrow and you'll get stuck in traffic for at least an hour. Iam totaly going back and i try another walking track.

Beware!!! Now on our second outdoor covers as they didn’t even last a year! But after ordering them back in June to replace we have had no update of when they will be delivered but happy to take our money. I will never order from Rathwood again. This company has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. I placed an order for firewood back in February — it’s now the end of October, and I still haven’t received it. After months of silence, I contacted Rathwood in September to complain and was offered a €100 voucher as compensation. When I tried to use it, it didn’t work. Every attempt to contact their customer service since has been exhausting — over 30 minutes on hold each time, only to be told on one occasion that they couldn’t help me because it was nearly 5pm and they were finishing for the day. I was promised a call back that never came. After yet another 3o+ minute wait today, I finally spoke to Jean P., who was polite and helpful and managed to redeem my voucher. She also assured me that I’d be contacted about my delivery — though at this stage, after eight months of waiting, I won’t hold my breath. Eight months for a simple firewood order is completely unacceptable. Rathwood’s lack of communication and accountability is shocking, and their customer service is appalling. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere and strongly advise others to do the same until Rathwood gets its act together.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! Like others I ordered and paid for fuel in June and arrival date was set for early Aug. Aug came and went no fuel. Dates on portal then pushed to Sept then October still no fuel. I tried ringing 30 mins on hold. Sent several emails got a one reply reassuring me that the fuel would come with no confirmed date. Two weeks ago I got through on the phone after a very long wait asked for a refund and was told they would process that. Was completely ghosted then when I followed up with emails to ask for update on my refund. They have no intention to refund me. Only way to get money back is to open a dispute with your bank. They are now operating as Rathwood Living and carrying on the same. Don't GET SCAMMED BY THEM..DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. AVOID AVOID AVOID. This goes for rathwood events also. Clearly going into liquidation.

I made an order for wood on the 12/6/25 which was due to be delivered on the 24/8/25. Please see photos below for the different rescheduled delivery dates for my order which I was not made aware of. I had contacted them and requested notification of any changes to delivery dates which they failed to do. to I have also messaged them on the portal and which they failed to do. I talked to so many people both customer service and management since August. l have ordered from this company before and had the exact same problem with delivery They gave me a €50 voucher as recompense. I decided to use it and buy on the 12/6/25. I didn't think on that date that I could be waiting practically 6 months for my order to be delivered 😡 On Friday I gave up on dealing with this company I then ordered wood from Finglas Fuels. This wood was delivered to me on Saturday afternoon. The reason that I haven't cancelled the order is that I want to actually want to see when an order made in June will actually My recommendation to anyone contemplating buying anything here is DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. I hated giving them 1 star. It is wasted on them

Avoid, avoid, avoid! I ordered logs using the advance order option, which is clearly advertised as separate from the wait and save option. The dispatch date was listed as October 20th. I heard absolutely nothing. I sent multiple emails and messages requesting an update on delivery, all ignored. Eventually, I managed to reach someone at a call centre, only to be told my order was delayed until mid December. I requested a refund and was assured it would be processed promptly. That was over a week ago yet still no refund. Where is my money? This is completely unacceptable and terrible customer service. Do not trust this company.

An absolute disgrace of a company. Ran by and owned by an incompetent bunch of half wits. I ordered two beds on September 13th. I waited, waited and waited some more. I called and I emailed. After numerous lies from rathwood and multiple requests from me for a refund the order eventually arrived on November 1st. The problem , only one bed arrived. I am now on hold and am number three in the queue. A position I’ve been in multiple times and each time when I get to one the phone hangs up. Edit to say I have managed to speak to someone her name is Diana. She informed me they base their customer service out of the Philippines. She further informed me her managers name is Chisom who is based somewhere in Ireland but she wasn’t quite sure where she was based ! She said she could not offer a refund for the item inspite of the fact it was not delivered

AVOID!! Garden furniture ordered in May for delivery end of June. This was pushed back to July, then August, then September…all with very little contact or notice from the company. Updates through notifications on portal only. We then cancelled the order, no sign of a refund. Although customer service are sympathetic (once you get through the long waiting times), they can’t assist with refunds and all done through separate team. Eventually requested a chargeback through bank and got refund processed through this.

This was the cutest little Irish experience. Great chocolates & delicious ice-cream. There is a playground for the kids & photo opps.

Lovely staff and owner with great products. Prices range from low to high but are made from quality ingredients so worth it in my opinion. The packaging is beautiful and makes a sophisticated gift. Their cute chocolate animals are perfect for kids. Great for souvenirs for family as there's something for everyone. There's a nice garden with a play area and sets to take photos with and a friendly atmosphere all around. Would love to come again and try out the chocolate making :)

Incredible artisan chocolate! Absolutely the best chocolates and hot chocolate I’ve ever had. The staff is so incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful and offered generous samples too. The cafe area is beautiful and spacious. Can’t recommend the Chocolate Garden of Ireland enough. Will definitely be back if in the area. If you’re visiting Ireland, add the Chocolate Garden of Ireland to your itinerary!

Hidden gem!! Absolutely lovely place to go to if you like gardens and flowers. It is beautiful, i went there yesterday, the flowers were in full bloom, it was lovely. It s very relaxing there, good energy around. They have a café with tables outside and a few games at the tables for kids. It kept mine happy for an hour. I would recommend this place 100%. It is €2 for parking and free entrance. Well done to the gardeners!! 🙂👍

Altamont gardens is my idea of heaven. I have visited several gardens in Ireland, but this beats them all so far. Everything is so well curated that the gardeners' work is seamless and every little part of it just makes sense. Also, the cards on sale at the coffee shop are handmade and truly original. Can't recommend this place enough.

Gorgeous, the grounds are an amazing mix of cultured and wild, with fabulous specimen trees... my favourite was a dead tree in the Ice Age Glen, covered in Porcelain mushrooms, and the little diver in the lake (a New Zealand Grebe?). 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️

Altamont Gardens is truly a piece of heaven. I can’t even put into words what my eyes have seen... We spent about two hours walking among these incredible plants, flowers, and trees, like they were handcrafted by God himself. Honestly, we were absolutely sure we’d spent that time on a different planet. It’s the kind of place that makes you forget everything else - just pure peace, beauty, and a connection with nature like no other. If you ever get the chance to visit, don’t think twice. Trust me, it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

An absolutely beautiful garden! Nice cafe where we had coffee and sweets and then we set off to do the river walk. We were only there for about 2 hours and could have done with a bit more time, but definitely worth this time!

Beautiful woodland area with some fantastic trees. Walled garden very colourful. Would imagine other flower beds would be stunning earlier in the year, we visited in September. Also fantastic value at €5 for parking (you tap your card on the way out of the car park) and no entry fee to the gardens themselves. Well worth a visit.

Woodstock Gardens is a great place to visit whether alone or with family and friends. Lovely walks and trails around the gardens and the whole area. There's a lovely looking tea rooms where you can get some refreshments inside and outside but only open in season. Closed when we went on weekday in early September. Open weekends till October it seems. Good car park with a 5 euro fee but they accept cards.lovely playground for children as well. . Lovely way to spend a day.

Delightful place to visit and during Summer, parking (entry) is free on Wednesdays. There is a playground for children, great (well-posted) loop walks through the forest and grounds. The skeletal remains if the house is a sad remainder of a turbulent past. There are several benches where on can sit and enjoy the views from the hillside location. The garden section has many favorites and exotic plants on display. Dont miss the tree that has branches displaying two different types of leaves!

Very well-maintained and beautiful gardens including Victorian-style tea room. Large in scale and perfect for walking, with spectacular views of surrounding landscape around the very scenic Inistioge area. On a recent visit I noticed a sign outside the public toilets indicating that transport is available for disabled visitors to the tea room at set times. Great idea and very welcome. There are a number of large picnic benches adjacent to the car park and a kids play area is close by. On-site toilets are located within the car park. Entry is €5 per car payable on exit. Gardens are really clean and litter-free. During inclement weather it was nice to shelter beneath a heavy-duty marquee covering the picnic area whilst eating. Note: tea room and coffee trucks close at 5pm but gardens remain open until 7pm. However, toilets were shut by 4:30pm on my last visit.

Love this place.. Gardens are pretty magical and lots of places to explore.. Beautiful glass conservatory that serves coffee and snacks... Not to be missed.. Walled garden, playground for kids too... Old original house is just a ruin now but they have kept facade and you can get an idea of what it was like... It's only 5 euro per car and no charge for gardens... Well worth visiting on a sunny day...

Stunning location with so many different trees to discover. There's a lovely tea house and you pay only for the parking (€5). Beautiful location for a photoshoot!

After a tiring week's work and the flight and car journey from Birmingham to Enniscorthy, it was a pure delight to stroll slowly through the gardens and among the majestic trees. Really brought home to me John Muir's belief about the restorative power of nature.

Beautiful place and amazing views, we just couldn't find proper parking place and had to return without having a walk.

Poulaphouca reservoir is an area of wild birds conservation in county Wicklow, Ireland. It's locally known as Blessington Lake.

Loads of fish in here caught small perch and a jack pike. I was using red and gold size 0 mepps and small trout lure. Conell from the boat hire place can write you a day pass for a fiver or season pass for thirty. Loads of wee spots to cast. Careful under the bridge near the gaa club. There's a long fishing line stuck across the weeds. My rapala lure got caught on it and I lost my life ='(. It's a very scenic location to do some photography too.

Just spent 3 nights here. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Great spot for families. Kids really enjoyed it especially the animal petting farm. They loved the play ground and tractor ride. Lots to keep them entertained. Also great entertainment for adults including bingo and music in the evenings. Nice selection of hot food in the shop at a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our large group. Very relaxed and friendly campsite! Toilets and showers were ok. No toilet paper or soap available which was an inconvenience but other than that we had no complaints! Will definitely be back

So glad ranchos has reopened, had a great weekend. Eoin, oisin and the team have done a great job cleaning and rebuilding it, the new cafe is a great addition and the menu is perfect and delicious. Can't wait to see what else they add. Tractor ride is great not just for kids but and its free and that includes the muddy pool they drive into.

We stayed one night as we were passing through the area. Eoin was very welcoming, the site was well laid out, good lighting to the toilets( which are a bit rustic but kept clean and tidy). The animals were a huge hit with the kids and the play area.

Fantastic place to go camping with young children! You have access to the petting farm with horses, pigs, deer, snakes, lizards, rabbits etc, horse rides, tractor rides, playground, cafe and indoors play zone all included in the price you pay to camp. In the evening there is a frog hunt, fire pits, it is a really good place to visit. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the water was not reliable for showers etc

Visited in April 2017 with our two kids 7 and 4. Very good value - €6 per child and €3 per adult. No time limit, spend as long as you like. Has lots of attractions all free - playground, petting zoo (bunnies, snakes, lizards), donkey and pony rides, go cart track, sandpits, farm animals to feed, indoor play center and café with hot food and lots of seating with reasonable food prices but also picnic areas if you want to bring your own. Staff were very friendly. When my daughter was upset after spilling a drink the owner spent over 10 mins joking with her to cheer her up and gave both kids a free lollipop. Lots of free parking too. Highly recommended.

Great day out for family's.... All the staff are so friendly. Its great value for money and plenty activities for the kids. Wear wellies and old clothes ;-)

The owner is an absolute gent. As a venue it's a bit rough around the edges but the kids loved it. Loads of animals to interact with and a massive play ground. They even have a tractor ride.

Impressive Castle, Just Be Prepared for the Crowds! A fantastic visit to the magnificent Kilkenny Castle. The building itself is beautifully restored, and the self-guided tour through the various rooms, especially the Long Gallery, is fascinating and well worth the price of admission. The sprawling parklands surrounding the castle are an absolute highlight – perfect for a walk, a picnic, or just letting the kids run around. It's a true gem in the heart of the city. The reason for docking one star comes down to logistics. We went on a weekend, and it was incredibly crowded, and we had to wait in a queue for a while to get in. Be prepared for that if you're not visiting on a weekday. The biggest challenge, however, is parking. Most of the on-street parking nearby is limited to a maximum of 1 hour, which is simply not enough time to explore the castle and grounds without constantly clock-watching. You're better off finding a car park a bit further away and walking. Overall, it is a must-see piece of Irish history. Just plan ahead for the potential crowds and parking situation to make your visit stress-free!

Beautiful, well maintained castle with lovely grounds. It was a great way to spend a couple rainy hours. There's a QR coffee at reach room so you can very more information on your phone. There's washrooms and a cafe at the castle as well. Our was about €11 to get in.

I really enjoyed my visit to Kilkenny Castle. The rooms are beautifully restored and give you a real sense of the history. The exhibitions are well explained and easy to follow. The gardens and park are peaceful and perfect for a walk, with lovely views of the River Nore. Everything was well organized, and the staff were very friendly. Overall, a real highlight of my stay in Kilkenny and highly recommended.

Nice castle, there are a lot of original furnitures and paintings, many languages printed guides. Enteance fee is 8 euro. You are to use one of the town parkings in vicinity. Enjoy!

We visited on a busy Saturday afternoon with tickets purchased online ahead of time. Theres a very large park connected to the castle that we walked around and explored for a while before our 4:00pm self guided tour. We spent 30 minutes inside walking around the castle taking pictures and finished our tour in the castle gardens full of flowers. We recommend the tour, though we personally enjoyed the castle from the outside more so than the inside as not much of it is original anymore.

Kilkenny Castle is absolutely stunning! The architecture is jaw-dropping, with beautifully preserved rooms that pull you right into its rich history. The guided tour is top-notch—super informative and packed with fun anecdotes. The sprawling parklands around the castle are perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the views are just gorgeous. The staff are warm and welcoming, making the whole experience a joy. Highly recommend visiting!

If you’re in the town, you must go. The grounds are well kept and it was good for a rainy day. If the weather was better, the gardens would be nice to walk around and have a picnic. They did a great job with information so you dont have to have a guided tour if you dont want.

This experience is well worth the stop if you are in Kilkenny. Our tour guide was fantastic (i feel terrible i have forgotten her name) and did an amazing job leading us through the history and science that is Smithwick's. The tour is very interactive and has a great production value. It is super engaging and interacting which was great as it was our 3rd brewery tour on our vacation. I highly recommend checking out the cream ale at the end of your tour. Absolutely delicious!!!

You must do this. We walked in and got a spot on a tour at noon. We brought our 5year old with us (kids <6 are free) and even he enjoyed most parts of it. Our tour guide, Simon, was absolutely excellent - full of knowledge and very well spoken on the history and story of Smithwick's. He made the experience really phenomenal. At the end, the barrel room for tasting was really great - comfortable and great service. I HIGHLY recommend this experience - and keep an eye out for the pamphlets with the 10% off QR code! They're all over Kilkenny (and ireland in general).

A solid tour of Smithwick's in Kilkenny - given by Daragh. He was both entertaining and informative! The history was very interesting, and the "picture room" was very cool. Literally moving pictures - and quite well done. The tasting experience, of the ingredients used in making beer, was a nice touch. And the beers afterwards, in the taproom, were well received and poured. Worth the visit, indeed!

We easily booked online. The guide did a good job in presenting the history of the city, brewing and business. The conclusion of the story can be unexpected, if you did not document upfront. Just a museum, not a live brewery anymore. Nice videos and interactions during the tour , it is touchy feely smelly. The price was a bit high in the end for 40 minutes of tour and one beer. The Kilkenny beer might have been the first served on that day, it was mostly foam and quite flat. Also, too cold in the tasting room and with very cold beer , hard to drink.

Joined this beer brewing tour and guided by Colin which gave us a very detail walk through history of brewing business by Smethwick family in kilkenny highly recommended if you ever visit kilkenny tour will take about 45 minutes and it comes with a complimentary beer at the end of the tour

A pleasantly surprising, educational and interactive, entertaining experience. Our young guide was funny and knowledgeable, and the modern sensory elements were delightful. The best part was smelling all the components and then getting to taste the flight of all of Smithwicks' best beers at the end!

Your was pretty good, I learned a lot about the Smithwicks history. The brewing isn't actually done in Kilkenny anymore, so a lot of the tour is of models of brewing equipment instead of the running brewery. And of course, got to drink plenty of beer!

We walked over here from the St. Mary's Cathedral to find that they were about to start a service so we only stayed for a moment. It's very beautiful on the inside and out, though much smaller than some others in the area.

Over 800 years of history are hidden in the stone walls of Black Abbey. Fabulous stained glass windows (especially the Holy Rosary Window on the side nave), sculpture of the Most Holy Trinity, tell the stories of the past. And what a place to stop by, immerse yourself in the quiet of the place and reflect on life.

I didn’t expect to be so moved walking through the cathedral, but the atmosphere was incredible. So peaceful, so grand, and filled with stories. You can almost feel the centuries that have passed within those walls. It’s a place that invites you to pause, reflect, and just appreciate the beauty of what humans are capable of creating when inspired by faith and purpose!

This medieval church is really beautiful and amazingly old! We also climbed the round tower, which was a one-of-kind experience with great views. Dating from the 9th century, it is hard to believe it’s still standing, let alone that you can climb to the top.

A beautiful piece of history — With a Heart-Pounding Climb" St. Canice’s Cathedral is absolutely stunning, both inside and out. The architecture, stained glass, and centuries of history make it a place you can feel as much as see. We decided to climb the Round Tower — and wow, what an experience. The ladders inside are steep and narrow, and I’ll be honest, it was pretty terrifying on the way up. But when you step out onto the platform at the top, the view takes your breath away (in a much better way!). You can see the castle, the River Nore, and the countryside for miles. If you’re visiting Kilkenny and the weather is dry, don’t miss it — it’s an unforgettable combination of history, beauty, and just the right amount of adrenaline.

A highlight of our first 16-day trip to Ireland & still remaining a highlight after our second 1 week trip to Ireland! The fact you could go up to the top of the tower was awesome! What a view! It blew Kilkenny Castle out of the park for me. I even preferred Cahir Castle to Kilkenny Castle. This cute Cathedral though, with its lovely little round tower, perfection!! Sept 8, 2024.

Has to be on your list of places to see in Killkenny. We have been up to.tge castle many times and missed St Candice's. There is a small car park across the road, and a family ticket was around €24. Note you can visit just the Cathedral, or the Cathedral & round tower. I would highly recommend you don't skip the tower, but do not there are ladders and tight areas on the accent!! The cathedral itself is a a peaceful place to explore. Lots of interesting people buried in tombs, with information displayed as u explore. There are a few bits to keep the kids busy, wooden blocks to build a cathedral and some drawings. The cathedral also contains the red book of ossory. If I'm honest while it has huge historical significance, it's not much to look at 😂 The round tower is located directly adjacent to the cathedral. The enyrave is up a metal ladder. There is an attendant sitting just inside the tower, they will tell you if you if you need to wait based on who is already inside. Once u start climbing you will understand why rate limiting is so important! It's narrow/low and sometimes difficult on places. If u are a large person I'd avoid. The view from the top is great!!! Good spot to visit, don't skip it for the castle.

Good location. Plenty of parking. Lots of shade. But very very expensive! We paid over €50 for one adult and two kids. The Japanese gardens are wonderful, but actually very small. We were expecting something bigger considering the high price. The various gardens are lovely to walk around. The grounds are immaculate. Very friendly and very helpful staff.

Great afternoon spent at stud. Beautiful gardens and tour was packed full of information. We saw some legends during tour and mums and foals. In the interactive experience is fun. Tasty food in restaurant too

Absolutely loved this place. I travelled with two 7yr old boys who loved it from start to finish. They loved the race experience, the waterfall in St Fiachras garden, the foals, the fairy garden was a big hit. They spent a long time in the Japanese Gardens, exploring all the nooks and crannies and walking the stepping stones. There was none of the usual "I'm tired" or "I'm hungry". It was all go.

I throughly enjoyed my few hrs here. The food was nice, no queing and plenty of parking. Priced not too expensive, per person, but for a small family it could be alot, and we didnt do a tour. The Japanese garden was a delight, the sole reason for my visit. Though don't be expecting peace n quiet. Pristine and exceptional maintenance of the gardens. I'll be visiting again.

Fabulous Place to Visit. Beautiful Grounds to walk around, Amazing Trees, Plants & Shrubs, lovely to see and pet the horses. Visit the Fairy Trail, see the ducks and walk around St. Fiachra's Garden, so peaceful. Loved the Irish Racehorse Experience, very interesting and good fun. Lovely Gift Shop & Restaurant.

National is always worth a visit loads to do. Our kids loved. Play of play areas, coffee shops, horses and walks. Japanese Garden is beautiful. Highly recommend a visit.

It’s an amazing place for nature lovers , perfect for relaxing the mind and finding inner peace. The lush green footpaths, the mysterious and peaceful atmosphere, and the beautiful surroundings make it feel like a walking meditation. I truly love this place. Great forest park to visit. Old castle and grounds of a day long ago. Spent a few hours wondering around and getting our steps in for the day. Lots of moms with kids and folks walking their dogs. Beautiful trees and shrubbery. Birds as love this place!

Beautiful forest and amazing tribute to the local firefighter killed in the twin towers 9/11. Deffo worth the visit if your close, there's also and amazing cafe just outside, the lady who runs it is so helpful and knowledgeable on the forest itself.

Beautiful forest of nature trails laiden with native trees ash and oak. A lake with ducks and water hens with a picnic benches and seating areas dotted along. A lovely café on site with friendlystaf, selling ice-creams, milkshakes, coffees, teas and nibbles. Perfect for a family day out or a quiet peaceful stroll, with lots to see such as the castle, old church, American commemoration to 911 to name a few.

Lovely cafe in the park, staff are welcoming and dog friendly, they gave my dog a free pupachino and the cafe closes at 6pm the cafe used revolut only when we were there and there isnt any signal on most of the grounds. €5 charge for parking to the grounds payed by card only. No bins around the grounds only bins are by the cafe and they have loads of outdoor benches/seating area.

Very unfriendly staff. The Chinese girl treated us badly at the entrance, shouting to us. Promised to get inside the shop in less than 40min, waiting 1h15 min and didn't get in. I am so disappointed with the staff service. There were more people complaining at the time.

This was our first visit to Wallaby Woods. It's not widely signposted but it is easy to find on Google Maps. Have a care on the roads nearby as they are bog roads and can be quite bumpy in places. Wallaby Woods itself deserves to be much better known than it is as it's probably the best attraction in the area for children. We spent over five hours there with my nephew's, they particularly enjoyed the bouncy castles and the zip line. The grounds are very well cared for, as are the animals, some of whom you get to hold. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The food in the cafe is reasonably priced and very nice. If you're looking for a place to keep the kids occupied for an afternoon then I would not hesitate to recommend Wallaby Woods, you won't be disappointed.

This place pleasantly surprised me. Doesn't look like much from the outside but inside is very pretty forest walk with lots of animals and flowers. We also got to pet snake, rabbit, tortoise, guinea pig, donkey and a dragon! We also got to feed albino wallabies, really great place.

Great day out in this pet farm with great playgrounds for all ages. It's not very big so don't need to worry that kids will get tired walking around. We loved the zip line and the little playground located conveniently beside the cafe. There is couple of picnic spots and a football pitch. Would definitely recommend!

Really great place to visit. Plenty of parking and it's free. Much better than a lot of places I've paid to get into

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Gorgeous views and walks. Super well maintained. Lovely bits and pieces dotted around everywhere. Gothic relics and well maintained walkways through out the whole area. A class sham castle also which you can take a break at and look over the awesome valley.

Great place with ruins, a gate, a pathway around the lake/ pond and it's all surrounded by the forest. Great place for a walk and a relaxing time with nature

The Lutyens garden is a beautiful hidden gem just outside Abbeyleix. There's free parking and a short uphill walk to the garden

Wonderful walk out from Ballinakill to the gardens along lovely wooded lanes. Passed the fishermen on the lake and with the soundtrack of kids' whoops of delight from the village's outdoor pool.

An amazing location with so much to see and explore, some lovely walks and many outstanding features. A super location and well worth a half day visit. Good parking and something for every taste

Beautiful place! Even though the house is undergoing renovations so we couldn't visit it (and nobody advised us when we bought the tickets), the gardens are worth the whole visit. Amazing array of plants and flowers and trees, even a fairy garden for the delight of all the visitors ☺️ Super recommendable!

I recently visited Belvedere House Gardens & Park, and had a great time. First of all, staff at the entrance are helpful and attentive. They gave us a guidance map and made sure we do not miss anything. Belvedere itself is a combination of serene walking paths through the forest, and the historic charm. Ideal for relaxing and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. Whether you're into photography, history, nature, or just looking for a tranquil escape, Belvedere is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

It's a lovely place with beautiful scenery and walks. My favorite was the fairy garden but it's all truly worth the visit. It'll transcend you back in time.

Beautiful setting, sprawling picnic spot, lake walk, children's play area, forest walk, beautiful walled garden, fairy garden, and old architecture. Good food and area to relax. Overall experience is excellent.

Very beautiful location. Nice little outing and feeling as if in a old english series. The ice cream is really good and the staff working in the cafe are friendly and kind with the kiddies. Only drawback was that they busy doing some maintenance at the moment however it is still a lovely outing lots of little things to do at a reasonable price.

Lovely spot for a walk with lovely things to see. Great for kids as there plenty for them too do. Toilets could do with an update. But that the only slight negative. Would highly recommend for a day out.

Lovely place to spend Sunday afternoon with friendly bunch whilst making the bets on favourite hounds and enjoying cheeky drinks.

Restaurant is disgraceful. Doubt this place has ever had a lick of paint. Carpet is threadbare and dirty. Food horrible. I was embarrassed having brought American guests for a night out. Shame on whoever is running this business.

Been here on a few sundays. It was free entry and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately didnt win! The dinners being served looked great although I did not have any.

Great night out. Was my first time here.Had a burger as had a late dinner and was quite good.. All staff friendly and helpful. Would recommend it to everyone. Will be back again soon..

We had a fun family night there - delicious chips and beer and some fun betting.
