Hạ Long Bay is a breathtaking natural wonder in Vietnam, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its stunning and unspoiled beauty makes it a top choice for travelers seeking to explore and experience its impressive natural landmarks, unique rock formations, and the traditional way of life of the local inhabitants. The bay offers various activities such as diving, rock climbing, and hiking amidst its tree-covered limestone islands.
Wow! What a place!😍 You must add it to your Vietnam itinerary. The cruise, cave exploration, view & the food, all were amazing! Here you can even enjoy few activities like Kayaking, Bamboo boat & speed boat.

This beautiful place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a full-day excursion tour with many magnificent caves to explore. The breathtaking scenes are accompanied by various activities to enjoy. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone looking to add a touch of adventure to their bucket list.
Rizwan G — Google review
I recently visited Ha Long Bay, and it was an unforgettable experience. The sheer beauty of the limestone karsts rising dramatically from the emerald green waters is absolutely mesmerizing. The scenery feels like something out of a dream. I opted for a day cruise, which allowed us to explore the caves, enjoy kayaking, and relax while taking in the serene surroundings. Sung Sot Cave was an incredible highlight with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The boat ride was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you have more time, I highly recommend the overnight cruises, which I plan to do next time. One small downside was the number of tourists in certain areas, but it didn’t take away from the overall beauty and tranquility of the place. The local food served on the boat was fresh and flavorful, adding an authentic Vietnamese touch to the trip. If you’re visiting Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a destination you simply cannot miss. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason, and it truly lives up to the hype!
Om T — Google review
Must see in Vietnam- despite it is so turisted. Were on a luxury cruise which was a great experience in it self - but I assume all boats give the same tours and the nature is stunning.
Ane J — Google review
Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in northern Vietnam, is one of the country's most iconic natural wonders and a must-visit destination for any traveler. I recently had the opportunity to explore this breathtaking bay, and I can confidently say it captivated my heart with its stunning landscapes and rich cultural experiences. The first thing that strikes you about Ha Long Bay is its remarkable beauty. The bay is dotted with over 1,600 limestone islands and islets, many of which are covered in lush greenery. The sight of these towering karsts rising dramatically from the emerald waters is simply awe-inspiring. Whether viewed from a boat, a kayak, or the shore, the scenery is breathtaking and offers numerous photographic opportunities. A visit to Ha Long Bay is often best experienced through a cruise. There are various options available, from day trips to overnight excursions on luxury junks. I opted for an overnight cruise, and it was one of the highlights of my trip. The crew was incredibly attentive, and the accommodation was comfortable, creating the perfect ambiance for relaxation. The daily itinerary included visits to hidden caves, swimming in the bay, and enjoying sumptuous meals featuring fresh seafood while watching the sunset over the water. Apart from cruise activities, Ha Long Bay offers plenty of opportunities for adventure and exploration. Kayaking through the bay’s smaller lagoons and caves was a thrilling experience that allowed me to get closer to the stunning rock formations.
Nirav N — Google review
Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.
Liviu A — Google review
Superb scenery. Tourist attractions packed but was to be expected. Stay a night and take in the amazing surroundings first thing in the morning. Choose your cruise carefully!
J P — Google review
Ha Long Bay is indeed one of Vietnam's most iconic and popular tourist destinations, attracting travelers from all around the world. With its stunning view from different cave and emerald waters, it's no wonder it draws such a large crowds. Lots of fun activities like kayaking, walking up the stairs to see sun song cave, Tip top island, beach etc. lots of boat sailing on the ha long bay island.

The island is home to a national park that covers about half of its area, providing a sanctuary for the highly endangered Cat Ba langur. With limestone karsts, tropical forests, coral reefs, mangroves, and more, Cát Bà boasts high biodiversity.
Stunning and anyone who says otherwise has no appreciation for earths natural beauty. Yes there is a lot of construction going on BUT there is also so much stunning flora and fauna alongside life changing mountainous views unlike anything I’ve ever seen with my own eyes before
Mia M — Google review
Construction going on atm until 2030 at the front but if you take scooter you see beautiful beaches and coast - it’s just one part of the island when there’s so many other wonderful treasures that the island offers
Zuzanna K — Google review
Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early
Drinkwater F — Google review
I excepted more, but Cat Ba island is not really what I thought. Everything in the main island is quite basic, constructions, overpriced restaurants, not good quality seafood (some still nice but not all),… Only thing I can enjoy more is going to see the sea with the boat tour: nice sea with sunny light, you can take nice pictures and can go swimming there too, visit some caves bypass,… Think 3 days is enough to visit there.
Thanh L — Google review
Amazing experience in my life time . Thanks for preserving it . Enjoyed each and every moment starting from yatch cruise , swimming , banana boat ride
Shalif A — Google review
Beautiful island but massive construction projects, lack of infrastructure general confusion makes it not worth visiting right now Insanely noisy do to huge construction project larger than the existing city. Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.
Jason D — Google review
I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.
Thiep P — Google review
A picturesque place. Peaceful calm, ideally for both couples and family. Best part is it is also very budget friendly. You can spend a week in less than 500 dollars for a couple while staying in good hotels and good food

The expert captains skillfully navigate through the harbor's diverse maritime traffic, offering passengers a front-row seat to the city's vibrant activity.
• Star Ferry offers a unique way to experience Hong Kong. The view of the skyline, especially at night, is simply breathtaking. • It’s a short ride but packed with charm, history, and stunning scenery. • It was a bit crowded on the day I visited, but the ride was still smooth and enjoyable. A must-try experience, especially if you want to see the city from the water.

Best way to cross between Hong Kong and Kowloon for 5HKD. The night trip is especially nice with great harbor cityscape views. Morning rides are less busy. You can tap your credit card or digital wallet and don’t need to buy advance tickets.
Eric M — Google review
Very cool experience riding the Star Ferry across to Hong Kong Island. The ferries operate there and back fast, so no worries on a time. Really ideal for early morning or night for the good views and less crowds. Highly recommend!
William O — Google review
TLDR: take this ferry to see beautiful skyline of Hong Kong, especially at sunset and night We took this ferry and it has beautiful views of the HK skyline. The iconic views of the skyline can be seen on this relatively inexpensive ferry (about $1) and they even had AMEX for $1HKD promotion as long as you pay with your amex
Wilson T — Google review
An all time favorite for me. Love this ride and the views are a treat both during day and night. Price is also very reasonable.
S K — Google review
You have to do this once - crossing the Victoria harbor on a star ferry. It goes between Kowloon and Hong Kong island. For $4HK, which is around 50 cents US you get this priceless view on both sides of the harbor. Service is super efficient. You can pay for your ride by either a token or using Apple Pay or the octopus card. Must do if you are in Hong Kong.
Y Z — Google review
It's a 10-minute boat ride to the central area. 50 HK$ one way. A relaxing time.

Loved the ferry. used it a few times. Dead cheap, about .62 cents (Euros) - 5HK dollars. Get great views of the city and its a nice and relaxing ferry ride across - more enjoyable than the metro I'd imagine. Can get very busy (with Chinese tourists) on the weekends, but on week days not so much

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Window of the World Ticket Office is a large theme park that offers visitors the chance to explore miniature replicas of around 130 famous global attractions. From the Eiffel Tower to the Niagara Falls, and from the Sydney Opera House to Mount Rushmore, this park provides a curious glimpse at how various world landmarks are portrayed in miniaturized form. The replicas are found in different proportions, such as 1:1, 1:5, and 1:15.
Big theme park with lots to see, and a few rides to go with it. If taking the train, the park entrance is located at the "louvre" train exit. Coolest train exit I've seen. There is a "hanging gardens" ride, a 4d movie theatre (5min showtime), spinning dumbo cups and more. Spent 2 hours here and still could not visit all the attractions. My favorite was the koi pond with very large koi fish and an anime statue.
Darryl T — Google review
This is a big theme park with famous miniature buildings / tourist attractions from all around the world. We went at night to see the lights but the rides and shows were all closed. I recommend going around 2pm so you have about 5 hours to experience the shows and the rides. There is a lot of walking, kind of like going to Disneyland. It's a fun place to go with kids and there's some small parks inside for the kids to play in.
Friendly N — Google review
The place is absolutely beautiful and worth the walk and effort. However, I recommend avoiding a visit in the morning as the weather is extremely hot and humid. The temperature improves after 3 PM. Make sure to bring a map if you plan to explore all the attractions—it will take at least 6 hours. You’ll need to drink plenty of water, and I highly recommend trying the iced watermelon juice. It’s a refreshing choice! 👍🏻
Fay A — Google review
I visited Windows of the World in October 2024. It was quite crowded, but still a fun and interesting place. The weather was hot, so make sure to bring water and sun protection. The park has impressive miniature versions of famous landmarks from all over the world—Eiffel Tower, pyramids, Taj Mahal, and more. It’s a great place for taking photos and spending a few hours walking around. It’s conveniently located near the metro station, which made it very easy to get there—I took the metro directly. The underground area connected to the station is full of shops, food courts, and small restaurants, so it’s a good place to eat or cool off before or after your visit.

Window of the World is a very big theme park in Shenzhen. It features replicas of all the iconic and famous landmarks in the world. It is divided into 8 geographical zones. They are World Plaza, Asia Zone, Oceania Zone, Europe Zone, Africa Zone, America Zone, Sculpture Zone, and International Street. Among the landmarks reproduced here are the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Great Pyramid, Taj Mahal, Big Ben, Angkor Wat, Arc de Triomphe and Kek Lok Si. There is a elaborate cultural dance and acrobatic show at 8.00pm every night. It is very entertaining with attractive lights, music, costumes, props and backdrops. Do not miss this show when you visit this park. Entrance ticket to the park (inclusive of the evening show) is RMB220 per adult, no discount for foreign senior citizens.

Ocean Park in Hong Kong is a massive amusement park that offers an array of thrilling rides and attractions. It features adrenaline-pumping rollercoasters like Bumper Blaster, Crazy Galleon, and Hair Raiser, as well as water rides and a cable car for scenic views. The marine park within Ocean Park showcases various animal enclosures such as Adventures in Australia, Amazing Bird Theatre, Chinese Sturgeon Aquarium, Gator March, and Panda Village.
Had such a great day at Ocean Park! The mix of thrilling rides, animal exhibits, and ocean views made it a really fun experience. I especially loved the cable car ride — the view of the sea and mountains was amazing! The aquarium was beautiful too, with so many marine animals to see. The park is quite big, so it’s best to go early and wear comfortable shoes. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the day. Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Hong Kong!
Vineesh K — Google review
Exceeded expectations with lots of things to see and do. Lots of rides although a few were not running. There are big rides for thrill seekers if you want to go and there are barely any queues. Lots of animals to see ranging from pandas to penguins and everything in between. There's the panda zone which was pretty busy and has 4 pandas and some red pandas. Rainforest zone with birds, sloths, reptiles , frogs and spiders. Then there's the Arctic zone which has walruses, seals, penguins and Arctic foxes. Also a shark zone and a big aquarium. Bottom line is that this is a zoo, aquarium, theme park rolled in one and it's good value for money. The cable car was a highlight, although those with fear of heights should avoid this as it goes quite high. Only thing missing is that it's not very busy so it's not got a vibrant vibe to it, but it means you can do alot of rides and see alot without waiting in line often. Overall a fun experience with lots to do and worth going to if you are visiting Hong Kong. Not too far from any central area as well so it was only a 30 minute train ride for us.
Nguyen N — Google review
What a wonderful place. The cable car ride is worth every dollar. Scary but adventurous. Some of the rides in the park are better than the Disney World and truly mind blowing. Overall, great place, day well spent and will definitely visit again.

Where do I start 🤔 we loved everyone moment ever step . Different rides Different animal inclosers. Food was so delicious 😋 views that will be hard to beat 💓 so many different interaction. We recommend everyone no matter your age to come and enjoy it 😉
Nancy S — Google review
Came for the rides, stayed for the animals! Weather was very hot though, and was difficult to walk in the direct sun. Wish there were more seating areas and some fans blowing misty water throughout the park to cool people down. Had the best milk tea and egg tart here, although they were overpriced. It’s possible to go through the whole park in one day!
Audrey Y — Google review
This place absolutely rocks!! We spent our final day in HK at Ocean Park and this place is awesome. Make sure you arrive when gates open, for the best chance to get to things. There is something for everyone, and the chairlift is a bonus! So cool and such a great view (check out pics) Grounds are kept really tidy, and staff are reasonable.
Pete P — Google review
The park itself is quiet old but the pandas and the aquarium are great. You can use the cable car for free or take the train. Many restaurants were closed. The cages could be bigger, they have so much space.
Anna E — Google review
Been here many times but this time was so dissappointed as it looked so run down, also alot of the attractions were closed for some reason. Looks like a bit of cunstuction going on but didnt feel exciting. Almost had a feeling of an abandoned theme park. Was uosetting to see as we always enoyed it here and kept coming back but unfortunatley for what it offer now and comparing price with disneyland i dont think we will return.

Victoria Peak, standing tall at 1,181 feet on Hong Kong Island, is a breathtaking destination that offers unparalleled panoramic views of the city and its stunning harbor. As the highest point on the island, it provides a unique vantage point to admire the iconic skyline and Kowloon across the water. While many visitors flock to this popular attraction via the Tram Peak funicular railway, consider taking a taxi for an efficient ascent and saving your tram experience for later.
You must come here when you are in Hong Kong. I advise to take a bus, go to the second floor and enjoy the amazing view. Then you don’t need to post for a special viewpoint since you see fantastic view even from free viewpoint. As well visit shopping mall, walk to Mount Austin Playground where you can find beautiful park with drinking fountains and WC, Victoria peak Garden with great view where people walk with their dogs.

Victoria Peak is truly one of the must-visit attractions in Hong Kong. The view from the top is incredible, offering a full panoramic look over the city, the harbour, and the skyline. The journey up, whether by the Peak Tram or by road, is also a great experience. The area is well maintained, with plenty of photo spots, shops, and places to relax. The weather was pleasant during my visit, which made the experience even more enjoyable. A beautiful place that perfectly captures the charm of Hong Kong. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place to see the city from up, good restaurants and souvenirs shops over there; customer service is amazing. We used the tram, we went up a little after sunset on Oct 6th, the peak was busy and line to go up was crazy long, yet we loved the entire experience.

Given the limited attractions around Hong Kong, this is a must see. After all, it doesn't cost much to come here, perhaps only the queue for bus and trams maybe a little long. We had a good time and enjoyed the view overlooking Hong Kong.

The peak is a great hill top for hiking. which offers a spectacular panoramic view of everything from Sheung Wan to Tsim Sha Tsui, as well as Victoria Harbour. Keep following the road until you reach Harlech Road, after which you will see the Lions Pavilion tucked away beside the Peak Tower, which is hugely popular with tourists for the views it offers for free.

Take bus 15 from Admiralty Station exit B. The bus will bring you to the Peak Galleria. Nice scenic route along the way and see the sunset views. Lots of eateries too.

Hong Kong Tramp is a must-visit! We waited an hour, but the tramp experience was unique and thrilling! The view from the top is simply breathtaking – stunning contrast of cityscape and greenery, with the harbour views stealing the show. Worth every minute of the wait!

This was my top one or two favorite places to see in China. Though from the outside. I paid for the ride to the top of the tower but they have other things that block the view. If I had to go back and do it all over again I might still go to the top just one time, but truly the best view is from outside.

A very magnificent view at the top, overseeing the the city of Guangzhou. We had buffet dinner at the rotating restaurant while overlooking the city. A good spread of variety however doesn’t match up to the price you pay. Nonetheless, an attraction worth going.

This building is one of the highest TV tower in the world with 604 metres tall. There is nothing around it, not suitable for Sightseeing at the round, if you would like to get in and go up to it so you will have to pay about 200 Yuan for a person during 1 hour at dinner time, it would be fantastic and you will see the view of all the city.

Beautiful place. One can have a view of the city from the Top. I went upto 107th floor and it was awesome feeling at such height. This tower has the height ever bubble tram and free fall at the top which costs an extra ticket. A must visit place whenever you're in Guangzhou, China.

Mountain cable car
Sights & Landmarks
The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car station, also known as Ngong Ping Cable Car, is a popular attraction on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The cable car offers a breathtaking aerial tour over the verdant peaks of Lantau and the sparkling South China Sea. You can opt for a glass-bottomed gondola to enhance your experience. At the end of the ride, visitors can marvel at the colossal Tian Tan Buddha, one of the largest of its kind globally.
We opted for the **Ngong Ping 360 Crystal Cabin** (the one with the glass floor!) for our trip to the Tian Tan Buddha, and it was worth every penny—even though tickets were pricier than the standard cabin. The **zero wait time** was a huge plus; we walked straight onto the cable car, which made the splurge feel justified. The **360-degree panoramic views** of Hong Kong’s lush mountains, the South China Sea, and the airport were unforgettable. The glass floor added an extra thrill—floating above the landscape felt surreal! The ride itself was smooth and took about 25 minutes, giving us plenty of time to soak in the scenery and snap photos. Once at Ngong Ping Village, the **Big Buddha** was awe-inspiring. The serene atmosphere, paired with the nearby Po Lin Monastery, made for a perfect cultural half-day trip. **Heads up**: The Crystal Cabin tickets are significantly more expensive than regular ones, but if you’re seeking a unique, bucket-list-worthy experience (and hate waiting in lines), it’s a must-do. Just wear pants if you’re nervous about the glass floor—it’s a long way down! **Pro tip**: Book tickets online in advance to save time and check for combo deals with attractions at the village.
Jaseer A — Google review
Book your ticket online and arrive at your scheduled time. Simply present the QR code to the staff upon arrival. Although there was a fairly long line, the wait was minimal as the cable cars arrived frequently. The scenic views along the journey made it well worth the trip.
Worawut P — Google review
The ride takes around 25 minutes, we went on Sunday so the queue is quite long but it was moving fast (around 20 minutes wait). Great view of the landscape and the wind can go inside of the cable so it’s not too hot.

The Ngong Ping 360, is a cable car to Lantau Island in Hong Kong. The 25-minute scenic journey connects the town of Tung Chung with the Ngong Ping area, with great views of the surrounding mountains, Hong Kong International Airport, and the South China Sea. It's pricey buy worth doing once and getting the bus back down. It drops you off at a touristy but nice souvenir selling village at the top next to the Buddhist monastery. The wait without a pre paid ticket even on a week day can be 90 minutes plus so buy one. The staff were very organised and efficient so the operation runs quite smoothly. Toilets are clean. Recommend doing it at least once.

Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, Hong Kong One of the most beautiful cable car rides in Asia! 🌤️ Ngong Ping 360 offers breathtaking views from start to finish — from the sea and airport to the lush green mountains and the famous Big Buddha at the top. The ride feels peaceful, safe, and incredibly scenic. The crystal cabin (with glass floor) is highly recommended — it makes the experience even more exciting! 😍 The journey takes around 25 minutes, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the view and take amazing photos. At the top, the Ngong Ping Village is clean, organized, and full of local shops and cafés. 💡 Tip: Go early in the morning to avoid long queues, and check the weather for the clearest view. 🌤️

What an amazing experience!!! A 25 minute ride over water, lush green hills, past waterfalls, into the mountain to come out the other side seeing the Big Buddha and temple come into view. Then you are dropped off into a village to walk thru and explore this hidden gem in the mountains.

Lantau Island, the largest of Hong Kong's outlying islands, is a treasure trove of experiences waiting to be discovered. From the majestic Big Buddha and serene Po Lin Monastery accessible via a scenic cable car ride from Tung Chung, to the charming stilt houses of Tai O village, this island offers a unique blend of culture and nature.
Loved being here and it was a great experience. Make sure to take the cable car and get in the queue early on the weekends. The views from the cable car are fabulous. You can take a cab or a bus as well to get to the top but recommend the cable car for the onward or return journey. Up on the hill visiting the monastery and the Buddha statue was simply divine. Feel blessed to have visited. I must say that everything is so well organised and convenient. If you’re leaving HK and have a few hours, you can also do this and leave your luggage at the storage below. it’s so close and well connected to the airport. Best to spend half a day or more if you can. So many food choices as well and such well maintained and well managed facility.

I absolutely loved the cable car ride. It was beyond amazing and the view is breathtaking. I would do it over and over again. For the best experience take the crystal cabin with glass floor. Round trip per person is 315 HKD. When you enter the cabin one of staff will take your picture and once you arrive on the other side you will see it printed. The price for the picture is almost the price for the ride which is expensive. And you see most of gjr people not buying them which ends up in waste. They should reconsider their prices for the pictures I guess. Other than that it's a beautiful experience and I'll do it again.

If there is ever one place in Hong Kong that you must visit then it's lantau Island with the Beautiful Buddha. take the cable car up , climb all those stairs and appreciate the beautiful culture of the Chinese whilst looking at the beautiful hills and nature . now take a walk to the gorgeous temple and take a moment to reflect . after this stunning tour take a bus down to the coast and catch a super fast ship - Ferry to Kowloon . Your life will definitely be different after this tour - BTW - it's really cheap to do it yourself - ask the hotel Concierge

There are 3 ways to get to the island - cable car (most expensive), bus (cheaper), or trek (cheapest). Each has its pros and cons - the cable car offers a spectacular view, but the trek is great fun and easy to do.

Lantau Island is the largest of Hong Kong's more than 250 islands. It is located to the west of Hong Kong Island and is almost twice its size at nearly 147 sq. kilometres. The island is mostly protected country park and rural lands and is considered a major 'green lung' of Hong Kong. It is also the location of Hong Kong International Airport and several major sightseeing venues and locations. Lantau is where you will find Hong Kong Disneyland, the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, Village and Giant Buddha. The island is also home to numerous historical fishing villages, most notably Tai O which is west of the town of Tung Chung. This is a neat heritage location and place to view the rare pink dolphins which reside in the coastal waters nearby. The island is also known for its beaches, particularly at the village of Mui Wo as well as the long and beautiful stretches of sandy shores at Cheung Sha. There are two country parks, Lantau North and Lantau South which protect nearly half of the island, encompassing numerous peaks, valleys, woodlands, coastline and HK's largest reservoir. The island also hosts some of Hong Kong's most popular hiking spots including the famous Sunset Peak Trail and the it 70-km Lantau Trail. While travel around Lantau Island is quite limited compared to Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, there is regular and frequent transportation to the island by way of MTR, Airport Express, public buses as well as ferries to the village of Mui Wo in the south. There are limited accommodation options on Lantau with a few properties available at Mui Wo, Tai O and Tung Chung being the most accessible. You'll find restaurants, supermarkets, convenient stores and basic services such as banks and cash points at Mui Wo, Tung Chung and the Ngong Ping 360 Village and casual eateries and stores in other villages around the island in areas frequented by tourists.

Shamian Island, located in the heart of Guangzhou along the Pearl River, is often overlooked by tourists despite being one of the city's top points of interest. This small island, connected to the mainland by several bridges, boasts a charming European-style ambiance with its buildings and tree-lined streets. While it may not have many attractions, it offers a pleasant environment for leisurely strolls and is steeped in history, as evidenced by informative plaques scattered around the island.
If you’re in Guangzhou, you have to visit Shamian Island—it’s like stepping into a little slice of Europe right in the middle of China! The neighborhood is full of beautiful colonial-era buildings, cobblestone streets, and banyan trees that give it such a peaceful vibe. It’s perfect for strolling around, taking photos (you’ll see wedding shoots everywhere!), and soaking in the history. There are cute cafes, statues with quirky stories, and even riverside views. It’s calm, charming, and just magical to explore!

Highly recommended and worth the visit! In the evening even prettier with lightings on big old trees. Amazing view, calm vibes surrounded with old colonial buildings. In the past seems like all western traders are living here and run their business to bring goods from China to their countries. Hence all buildings are built in Colonial styles surrounded with parks, big old trees. During spring est. February- March many park areas will be having tulips flowers in different beauty colors.

Shamian Island 沙面島, previous known as Zhongliusha 中流沙or Shicuizhou 石翠州, is an elliptic sandbar in the Liwan District 茘湾区of Guangzhou City 广州市, Guangdong Province. The island's name literally means "sandy surface" in Chinese. Surrounded by water, the island covers an area of 0.3 km2, 900 m from east to west, and 300 m from north to south. It is bordered in the south by the Pearl River, and it is separated from the mainland by a canal. Shamian Island has three east-west avenues, Shamian Avenue, Shamian North Avenue and the South Avenue, and five north-south streets, Shamian Street 1 to the Street 5 divide the whole area into 12 parts, with various buildings. The island was divided into two concessions given to France and the United Kingdom by the Qing government in the 19th century (1859–1943). The island is now opened to the public with historical area that serves as a reminder of the colonial European period, with quiet pedestrian avenues flanked by trees and lined by historical buildings in various states of upkeep. The island is the location of several hotels, a youth hostel, restaurants and tourist shops selling curios and souvenirs.
Doug H — Google review
After the lunch at a nearby mall, we walk to the Shamian island. The access to the island could be improved as we get there via an old footbridge over tons of traffic, but that's perhaps making a contrasting experience unexpectedly. If you have no interest in history then the Shamian island maybe just a cluster of old European style building, and a rather nice tree line shaded park - it is 'just' a nice walk route. But if you dig deeper you could find the old Shell plc., HSBC, Citibank building and they reminded a rather painful Chinese history in late Qing dynasty to pre-ww2 time. All memory of that may be faded but glad the architecture still there and not be pulled down in the name of new development. Well worth a visit if you are in GZ so you can experience a different dimension of your stay. it is also a short walk to the nearby Custom house, and the DaiSun building which was the first tall concrete building in SZ - though the interior of Daisun was poorly turned into a dingy mall selling electronic, and all former glamour of the interior fit out cant be seen at all.

What a beautiful place to visit when you're in Guangzhou. If you want to visit this place, you need to familiarise yourself with the train movement. If you can download this app called " Amap," it is all in chinese, but if you can read it; will tell you which train to take or transit from one to another. Super affordable fee at this time of writing - train fare is about CNY 7.99. You NEED to have a china sim card - phone number. Bring your passport along as you download the Alipay app. You may need you to snap a picture of your passport. A lot of the time, it is quite spontaneous, so it is best to be prepared. Not necessarily, but just be prepared. Luckily for me, I bought an esim from "Nomad" app. It gives me internet access but I still need to have VPN to transfer money from my bank across to my "Wise app". Anyways, I'm getting side track. This Shamian Island has all European town outlook, it has statues of exquisite designs. Take your time to observe or take a picture with it. Food wise - expensive. So if you wanna splurge, be my guest. Walking towards the pier, it has a nice view of the Guangzhou waterfront. I was lucky because there was a 70s band who performed for the public. Not sure what they're called now.

Nestled in the serene mountains of Lantau Island, the Tian Tan Buddha is a breathtaking sight that stands 34 meters tall, making it the second largest outdoor seated bronze Buddha globally. Erected in 1993, this majestic statue serves as a significant center for Buddhism in Hong Kong. Visitors can ascend 268 steps to reach its platform and enjoy stunning views while experiencing spiritual offerings made by devotees.
Visiting the Big Buddha was truly one of the highlights of my trip. The statue itself is breathtaking both in scale and in the peaceful energy that surrounds the entire place. The panoramic views from the top are stunning, and the atmosphere is calm despite the number of visitors. I highly recommend taking the Ngong Ping 360 cable car with the crystal cabin (glass bottom). Floating high above the lush green mountains and the South China Sea gives you a unique perspective it’s both exciting and serene at the same time. ⏰ Tip: Go early in the morning to avoid queues and enjoy the freshest air.

It's an ideal destination for families, offering a diverse range of attractions suitable for all age groups.
We were so amazed by this park! There were so many beautiful animals there. The park was clean. The food selections were great! Some highlights for me were the pandas, the koalas, and feeding a giraffe! We had a great time here!

A well maintained zoo with clean washrooms, numerous eateries, and facilities. They have a safari on wheels, a cable car that takes you across the zoo, and some live shows and parades too. The animals looked well taken care of, and it surely was an impressive zoo. Unfortunately, there aren't many options for vegetarians when it comes to lunch. Also, you aren't allowed to carry food inside, so plan accordingly. The pandas were super adorable, and it was overall a wonderful experience.

Well thought out zoo with some birds and an immersive Jurassic trail. Ticket might be a little expensive (~300RMB per adult) but it includes free cable car rides and the train safari, which easily costs over 50 USD in some other countries (if they even have it) Best visited on a weekday, wait times will be less than 15 mins and the atmosphere is lively but peacful Dont worry about the sun as the whole park is shaded by lots of trees and there are many air conditioned buildings My favourite attraction in Guangzhou!

A very big park, clean and lots of toilets too. Unfortunately, we dont have sufficent time to cover the whole place even though we spend 3 hours there. Animals are happy, environment is great for them too. The safari houses so many koalas ( even more than in Sydney Zoo) that are active though is the begining of winter. Great experience and wish we have more time there.

The Ruins of Saint Paul's is a captivating historical site in Macau, renowned for its stunning facade that remains from a 17th-century church. Originally part of a larger religious complex, this UNESCO World Heritage Site showcases the intricate artistry of its southern stone facade, which beautifully blends European Renaissance and Asian architectural styles. Once home to St. Paul's College and the Church dedicated to Saint Paul the Apostle, it was tragically destroyed by fire in 1835.
This is an iconic photo of the Macau. The place is magnificent whenever you decide to visit l, during the evening or during the day. Take a break and enjoy the view while sitting on the stairs.

I visited the Ruins of St. Paul’s on a Wednesday morning, and even then it was already quite crowded with tourists. The site itself is iconic and definitely worth visiting at least once if you’re in Macau. The stone façade is beautifully preserved and stands out against the blue sky, making it a great photo spot. The surrounding area is lively, with lots of souvenir shops and food stalls to explore after your visit. Despite the crowd, the atmosphere felt vibrant and full of history. A must-see landmark that captures both the cultural and colonial heritage of Macau.

breathtaking sight and one of the most beautiful historic spots in Macau. The grand stone façade, intricate carvings, and the way the structure stands tall against the skyline make it incredibly photogenic and awe-inspiring. The place carries a deep sense of history, and the surrounding area is lively with cultural shops, local snacks, and scenic viewpoints. Walking up the steps and taking in the view from the top is absolutely worth it. A must-visit for anyone exploring Macau — rich in heritage, visually stunning, and full of cultural significance!

A delighful place to bask in Macau's history and sample its' gastronomic offerings The ruins of St Paul Cathedral is one of the destinations that make Macau's colonial history so palpable. Towering over the old historic quater, the religious place makes visitors feel the portugese influence had on Macanese culture. Walkways to the church are lined with "colononial european designed paths" with rows of pre-colonial style townhouses and shophouses. A lot of the vendors offer free tastes of biscuits, meat jerky, almond cookies and other portugese snacks. You can actually skip dinner or lunch if you go here before mealtime because of the continuous flow of free food samples. Overall, it was a great experience for my family and I. We had the perfect day of food, history and bonding at the Ruins of St. Paul. This is a must go for anyone visiting Macau. * there are a lot of eateries and convenience stores along the side streets *a couple of other churches that offer mass service are also situated around the area * some botiques of known brands can be found in this area too, nike, adidas, giordano etc * 5 stars for koi kei egg tarts. You can find their stalls on the path up tp the ruins.

This front of the building is beautiful, but the area is very very busy most of the day. If you want a clean image. I would suggest going after 10pm or just as the sun rises. Group tours are continuously arriving, and they make a lot of noise.

Europe vibes-like in the middle of Macao. The vibe is very Europe-like with buildings are so colorful and beautiful tiles in the floor too. The location is Not to far from Ruins of St Paul. It's very crowded place too. If you want to enjoy this place a little bit quiet, come in earlier in the morning. There are many shops and restaurant too.

If you're seeking a lavish and upscale casino experience, look no further than the Venetian Macao Casino. Situated on the Cotai Strip, it holds the title of being the largest casino and luxury hotel resort globally, spanning an impressive 10,500,000 square feet. This opulent palace of gambling offers a variety of games such as poker, blackjack, and slots for those looking to indulge in an evening of luxury entertainment.
The ambience at the Venetian is absolutely stunning — from the moment you step inside, the scale, design, and attention to detail are truly world-class. The entire place feels grand, glamorous, and full of energy, yet incredibly comfortable for a relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, offering a perfect blend of elegance and comfort. Walking through the indoor canals, vibrant shopping areas, and the beautifully themed spaces feels like stepping into another world. The glitz, décor, and visual appeal of the entire property are simply unmatched. Whether for leisure, sightseeing, or just soaking in the atmosphere, the Venetian Macao delivers an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

The world's largest casino. 5 times bigger than the Las Vegas Venetian 🤯. Surely worth a visit to see the opulence and take a gamble if you are in Macao. No free alcoholic drinks for gamblers like in Vegas though. Managed to win and quit while ahead. You could easily spend a long time walking through the massive interconnected casinos!
TRIPhil — Google review
The biggest casino on earth and worth a visit regardless of whether or not you're a gambler. It is sad to see the place moving more towards electronic machines rather than dealers.

Ankush S — Google review
My family and I spent an hour here just to try our luck at the slot machine and experience the casino. The place was humongous. The architecture and details were patterened after venice giving a european feel of the place. Despite the ultra luxurious design of the place, I was not comfortable to be in a place where people literally squander their money away. Honestly, the experience was so-so. Good for taking a few pics and seeing what the casino scene was all about. I saw a couple of friends fighting over what I can assume to be a money issue. Security was fast to act and escorted them away. Overall, if you are a casino goer, you will love it here. Otherwise, id just wander outside the casino to enjoy their replica of the venice canals.

I'm not an English-speaking traveler, but I still want to try a different style of commenting. The grammar might be off, and the meaning might be unclear, but let me give it a try! The most captivating part of The Venetian Macao for me was the shopping arcade, beautifully designed with a strong Venetian atmosphere. Walking through the mall felt almost like stepping onto the streets of Europe. The sky-themed ceiling is incredibly realistic, with lighting that mimics natural daylight and shifting shadows, making you slow down and take it all in. The artificial canal and gondola rides are iconic features, and the detailed building facades along the walkways make it a fantastic place for photos. There’s a wide range of shops—from luxury boutiques to everyday brands—and the layout is easy to navigate, making it a pleasant place to wander around. Even if you’re just here for shopping, the immersive, European-style ambiance makes it a great spot for strolling, taking pictures, and simply spending a relaxing afternoon. Although I haven’t stayed at the hotel yet, the shopping area alone is genuinely worth experiencing.

Must see in Vietnam- despite it is so turisted. Were on a luxury cruise which was a great experience in it self - but I assume all boats give the same tours and the nature is stunning.

Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.

First time on a cruise in Halong Bay. The rooms were decent. The bathroom was see through and flooded every time the shower was used. The crew were friendly, polite and looked after us well. The food and drinks were average. The spring roll making and karaoke was great fun. I wouldn't stay overnight again as it was difficult to sleep with the sounds of water splashing against the boat all night.

We did a 2 night cruise, and had 2 different guides who didn’t communicate and the second day was a repeat of the first, so we stayed on the boat. The food was average and the room wasn’t cleaned on the second day, which is awful when u can’t flush the toilet paper. Also my husband and 3 Kiwis got an upset stomach after night 2. The food looked good but didn’t taste good. The boat is old and tired and has fake grass covering the uneven deck. Please consider paying a bit more and choose something a bit better.

We had a lovely cruise on Halong Bay on Lavender Cruise. Alex, our tour guide was friendly and informative and provided an enjoyable cruise ensuring we ticked off the highlights of the bay including Ti Top Island and Secret Cave. Alex is extremely knowledgeable about the area and ensured we made it to Secret Cave before the crowds on the second morning. The crew on board the boat ensured we were well fed and looked after. Highly recommend.

One of the best experiences during my stay in Vietnam. The cruise was booked last minute because other cruise company tried to cheat us. And we are so happy we booked Lavender cruise at the end. The guide Bobby is very nice, helpful and tried to make everything so the passangers were satisfied. They upgraded our room so we had a big corner room surrounded by windows with stunning view. Main attractions of the cruise - Titop island, kayaking and Surprising cave are very crowded but thanks to Bobby we had kayaking only by our small group. There are also night attractions - karaoke and squid fishing. The food on the ferry is very delicious. Mostly they serve seafood so if you have other preferences you need to inform them in advance. The cocktails on board are quite expensive (6-7$ per one) but it is a common practice on ferry cruises in Hà long. We were very lucky to have a great weather and to meet great people on the boat so if I could, I would rate this cruise 6 out of 5 because everything was way better than we expected.

We really loved our 3-day, 2-night cruise, it felt like a soft landing in Ha Long Bay. The staff were incredibly kind, generous, and always eager to accommodate anything we needed. The trip was well-organized and peaceful, with just the right amount of activities like kayaking, cave & pearl farm visits, swimming... easy and enjoyable for both adults and kids. It was also a very family-friendly experience. Our kids felt welcome, and the staff made them feel seen and included, which made it that much more special. Something small that didn’t resonate with us as much, though offered in good spirit was live Vietnamese violinist playing a Vietnamese violin. He played beautifully, but only Western/American songs - which felt a little disconnected from the local setting. We would’ve loved even one or two Vietnamese pieces to connect more deeply with the culture. During the spring roll-making demonstration (which was fun, cute, and surprisingly practical to learn how to make them) hygiene could be improved. Only hand sanitizer was used by staff and guests, versus everyone washing their hands and having gloves available for all. That said, overall it was a lovely and memorable experience. A clean, calm, and welcoming cruise that helped us experience Ha Long Bay in a relaxing, effortless way. We’re so glad we did it.

The cruise was fine however was very disappointed with the village trip, this looked like a staged village with restraunts setup by the cruise company. Booked 1 night stay and plan to visit the caves by canoe but the village trip took the afternoon up and due to 1 night stay the only offer to canoe to the caves was at 7:15am. Would have been better time spent in the afternoon canoeing and visiting caves rather than the village and offer village trip next day. Feel.like it's been to commercialised to warrant 5 stars.

It was our honeymoon, and we have a couple of surprises waiting for us for the occasion, which we both highly appreciated ! Many thanks again to Bahya Cruises

Cát Bà Island is the largest island in Ha Long Bay and is known for its diverse natural ecosystems, including marine and terrestrial habitats.

Construction going on atm until 2030 at the front but if you take scooter you see beautiful beaches and coast - it’s just one part of the island when there’s so many other wonderful treasures that the island offers

We enjoyed yet another wonderful stay at Mua Cave Ecolodge! The services offered by the front desk staff (Lan and Ha Vì) and restaurant staff (Nhung and Ling) are consistently outstanding, as this is our third stay. We were offered an upgrade but we chose to stay in the family room with balcony because of the amazing view! The grounds are fabulous and provide easy access to ascend dragon mountain. The food is delicious and we enjoyed wine made from a vineyard on the property. The value for the room, food and location is great! We’re definitely planning to return!

Our stay was nice. Location: BUT we wish we would’ve known that the lodges are on a tourist attraction park… We arrived around 4 am and when we woke up we were pretty surprised to see tourists walking on our doorstep. We wish it was more clear that the lodges are in the Hang Mua park so take this in consideration when you book the lodge. The pool was closed while we were there but we did got a discount for that. The staff and service was overall good. Except for the laundry, it was quick, but it wasn’t clean and also my pants shrunk a bit. When we checked out they forgot to charge us for the laundry and the scooters we rented. They texted and called us several times while we were already on our way to Hanoi. We paid the remaining via our next hotel which they contacted to transfer it. Both these experiences made me write the review but we enjoyed the room.
Lisette S — Google review
This eco lodge has several dogs caged in tight chicken cages, sleeping on bare wires l, with no bedding, with no water or food supplied all day in horrible heat and humidity. I was heartbroken. They care more about people not picking lotus flowers than live animals. Not only were the dogs in cages, they had less than 10 inch long chain on them for no reason whatsoever. I stuck my tiny hand in the cage to straighten out the bowl so I could pour some water in there, the dogs chain was barely long enough to stick his face in the bowl!!!!! Dog drank the water like it never seen water before. Even tho it was absolutely panicked when he saw my hand, like he never seen humans before. It was days ago and my heart hurts to this day. I'm thinking these are the property guard dogs that maybe possibly get let out at night, but still, for the love of God, provide them with some water during the day. Bowls were chewed up and turned over from the dogs searching for it! I was thinking of booking a stay there in the future, now I just can't. I hope more people see this, and more people protest they were in the property parking spot by the scooters.
Sylwia S — Google review
The main advantage of staying at this lodge is the access to the viewpoint and the lotus fields. It allows you to enjoy the attractions and then take a shower and rest in your room. The trade-off is that other visitors may walk around the site and past your room, though there is a buffer separating the rooms from the paths. The grounds themselves are beautifully designed, with the traditional lanterns and bonsai adding a charming touch. The room, however, was smaller than expected compared to the photos, making it a bit cramped - especially between the beds and desk. Pest control would also be helpful, as we noticed mosquitos and lizards. The breakfast was a real disappointment. On a positive note, the outdoor shower was absolutely fantastic. Overall, despite a few drawbacks, we had a wonderful and memorable experience.
Unbiased O — Google review
I have booked a family room for 2 nights, they contacted me and said that because of their family room needs to fixing somethings so they upgraded us to cave villa without extra fee, which is so nice from them! But there are some small things they could do better: first is the roof problem, water drips from the ceiling to the floor continuously, not lot but enough to make the floor wet and it isn’t safe for the family with 2 young kids that alway running and playing! Second is just a communication, the receptionist told me there are a Jacuzzi in the room, just ring them to send the staff to turn it on if we want to use it. But it is actually a big bath tub only, just warm water, no aeration. This isn’t a complaint because we are happy with the warm bath as well but they could tell us it is the bath tub instead of Jacuzzi.

This place is wonderful! The location is great, offering fantastic views of the cliffs. The room was very comfortable and there were two bathrooms- indoor and outdoor. Mixed review on this. Parking attendant was a bit abrasive. Reception staff and restaurant staff were amazing. The complimentary breakfast was great.Room was pretty good but the shower put water everywhere? The views and atmosphere are exceptional. The spa staff were nice but the massage was below average, rough and unenjoyable and the lady was messaging on her phone and chatting with her friend during the massage and had staff children nearby making the experience not very relaxing and then after tipping almost half of the price of the 3 services my family had she complained that was not enough.

Embark on a Trang An Grottoes tour and explore the unique Dich Long Cave, divided into the Light Cave, Dark Cave, and Pagoda in the Cave. Marvel at stunning stalactites and stalagmites in various shapes and colors that evoke images of majestic tigers and mythical dragons.
Trang An Ninh Binh is a breathtakingly beautiful destination that exceeded my expectations! The scenery is stunning, with tranquil waters and lush surroundings. I took the limousine from Hanoi, which took over an hour but was worth it for the convenience (200k VND/person, easily bookable via app). At Trang An, I enjoyed a great drink at the Starbucks store, which had a lovely Japanese/Korean vibe. Ticket prices are 250k VND/person, and can be bought online for a smooth experience. The queueing system for the boat rides is well-organized, and there are several route options to choose from. I opted for Route 2, which took me on a scenic tour around Trang An, although I skipped the big pagodas and temples due to time constraints. If you have more time, I recommend visiting Bai Dinh Pagoda as well. The boat ride takes over 3 hours, and the water was a beautiful greenish hue this season. I spotted some aquatic plants and even caught a glimpse of the Kong movie film studio. To make the most of your visit, I recommend going early in the morning. Overall, Trang An Ninh Binh is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and those seeking a serene getaway. Highly recommended! Let me know if you'd like any changes!

Did the Trang An boat tour. We chose route 3. We went at 11PM It was super beautiful, was getting super crowded as we were leaving. Our tour guide made us paddle for the full 3 hours as she was barely paddling. Would have took us 5 hours without us. Paid 250 000 dong. If you want something worth the money I would highly suggest the bird sanctuary in Tam COC. Only cost 150 000 dong. Give yourself alot of time as there is SO much to see, super worth the money and your time. There is 4 caves and all the boat tours are included in your ticket. Make sure your there around 4PM and you'll see all the birds returning to the bird garden. Such a beautiful sight! Happy travels!

The rower was very friendly and talkative, which made the experience more enjoyable. The landscape is stunning and peaceful — honestly, we thought it was almost better than Ha Long Bay. There’s less boat traffic, and the water is much cleaner. That said, the tour was 3 hours long, and it was extremely hot. Sitting in the sun for that long can really drain you — bring water, sunscreen, and a hat. I would recommend to take the shortest route!
Nam N — Google review
We couldn’t go into the caves because it was flooded, it’s a pity because I was looking forward to that. But other than that, very nice peaceful boat ride - they take you for 2.5 hours on the lake, I don’t know how the women manually ride the boat for so long!! Quite serene and beautiful.

had the best day! incredible views so peaceful and unreal landscapes. the best was to see the sights that ninh binh has to offer. we were on boat route 3. went for 3hrs; 3 caves and 3 temples <3 we had the most lovely couple join us on our boat (4 people in every boat). make sure to tip the workers they’re so lovely and made sure we got amazing pictures!
Trinity O — Google review
They “slightly” changes the tour and instead of 3 hours it was 1.5. Also it was overcrowded with boats so avoid going on Sunday because you will just hear people taking around and will not enjoy the nature at all. Last but not least there was 250m long cave which was also crowded with boats and it was lacking air.
Petar K — Google review
Not much to say. When we got in we did just 2 caves because the tides were high. So it kind of limited the experience for us. However it was a good experience. Very professional. Although they were way too many people and I felt that kinda led to the long 2-3 hours timeline and not really the activities. Also limited flexibility. Also it was quite difficult to communicate with the man rowing as he didn’t understand any English. Outside of that, a good activity to appreciate the natural wonder and tick off your bucket list. Best to do early in the morning or later in the evening.
Samson R — Google review
Boat ride experience is amazing. We went for route 3 where we stop at 2 pagodas and went in 3 caves. There was 1 cave which was 1000m long. We needed to sit low since the cave is kinda low also. We went at 14:00hr and it was extremely hot! I recommend you wear tons of sunscreen or hat and long sleeve because it’s extremely hot!! The view is just breathtaking. It was a total of 4hrs boat ride including the stops. An unforgettable experience. 💖

Tam Cốc – Bích Động - Ninh Bình, Việt Nam

Tam Cốc – Bích Động in Ninh Bình, Việt Nam is a popular destination known for its stunning natural beauty and centuries-old temples. The area features three main routes: Tam Coc, Den Thai Vi, Dong Thien Huong, Bich Dong, Xuyen Thuy Dong, and Dong Tien Linh Coc Pagoda.
Bich Dong Pagoda is a serene and captivating site nestled among limestone mountains and lush greenery. The walk up to the pagoda is peaceful, with stunning views that get better as you climb. The pagoda itself is built into the mountainside, creating a unique and tranquil atmosphere that feels both spiritual and connected to nature. Each level offers something special, from ancient altars to breathtaking vistas. It’s not overly crowded, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. A must-visit if you’re exploring the Ninh Binh area and want a quiet escape steeped in history and beauty.

A very cool experience! It’s quite serene and unique - going with the row boat through the river, through a cave and then into an open space, surrounded by mountains. The ladies rowing the boat are farmers I am told and after their work, they do this as an additional hustle. They row with their feet which is a sight to see, they’re quite experienced. Be warned! And be ready for them to hard sell you trinkets and souvenirs when they reach the end of the river (before turning back). We didn’t bring any money but we felt almost hijacked when she wouldn’t move the boat until she was truly convinced we couldn’t buy anything. The other boats did the same thing, stopped the boat for about 10 minutes until someone bought something (or couldn’t). It detracted from the overall good experience from the row boat ride. We tipped her generously at the end when we were done and back in land where the money was available but we shouldn’t have been held “hostage” for quite a bit of time with the rower giving us a disapproving and unhappy, sour look because we couldn’t buy her trinkets.

We booked a day tour to Ninh Binh using klook. We were picked up from our hotel in the morning around 8 am. From hoi an ancient town to pagoda to lunch and then to tam coc island for a boat ride. It was quite sunny and the boat ride is roughly 1.5 hrs. It was quite hot and you need to carry googles, hat, sunscreen to avoid getting sun burnt. Carry water bottles too. The boat ride is good and quite scenic. You will pass through paddy fields and under the cave and a bridge but just take precautions with the sun. Two people on one boat and they paddle using their feet. Dinh bay and 2-3 small bays pass by. Tam Coc boat tour is a boat trip through the scenic karst landscape of Ninh Binh province, Vietnam, often called "Inland Halong Bay". Local rowers guide you in traditional sampan boats through rivers winding between rice paddies and under limestone mountains, passing through three natural caves called "Tam Coc" (Three Caves). The tour can be booked as part of a day trip from Hanoi, which may also include cycling through rural villages and visiting historical sites like Hoa Lu Ancient Capital or Mua Cave, with options for private or small-group tours

This sightseeing combo was extremely beautiful. Loved it all and felt like we were in another world. The only reason for 4 stars is that our boat rower spent so much time trying to sell us crafts out of his bucket and then started asking for a tip long before the ride was over. Once we gave him one, he complained and asked for more. It was very off putting and took away from the beautiful landscape that we were trying to take in.
Jen L — Google review
The view, cave, rock and river themselves are naturally beautiful. This place is unique during the rice ripening season. Recommend to go early to beat the crowd. Sadly nature outweighs the messy service and rude, greedy, narrow-minded attitude of the vast majority of boatmen here. You can’t enjoy the boat on your own but need to fill the group of at least 4 people. The boat woman seems friendly and responded to your questions, but stopped only at Khe Gioi ravine for photos. She was impatient and wanted us to leave early. She described her poor family situation and persuaded us to buy embroidered frames. She also asked for tip by the end and sold the embroidered things double the price. Don’t believe their words, their acting and don’t buy anything. Actually the local people themselves are ruining the experience. I’ll never come back because of their attitude. Just enjoy nature if you love it.
S T — Google review
It’s a great experience on the river passing through the 3 caves. Tam(3) and Coc (caves). You are in a small rowboat, a local lady or men row with their legs

Best experience we had, river along that glides you to three caves, amazing limestones, picturesque cliffs, beautiful scenic views. Highly recommended

I had an amazing experience exploring the area. The boat ride through the limestone mountains and expansive rice fields was incredibly peaceful, and the scenery was breathtaking at every turn. The guides were friendly, helpful, and informative, which made the visit feel personal and engaging. Even though it was a popular spot, it never felt overcrowded, making the experience truly memorable.

Vat Phou

Mentioned on
7 lists
Archaeological site
Sights & Landmarks
Vat Phou is an ancient temple complex of Hindu origin that was later used as a Buddhist shrine. The site exudes grace in its state of decay, and though it may not have the grandeur of Angkor, its setting and lack of visitors make for a more emotional experience. Some structures date back to over 1000 years ago, while most were built between the 11th and 13th centuries.
Vat Phou is a beautiful and significant Khmer temple in Champasak, Laos, renowned for its symbolic design, architectural evolution, and stunning natural setting. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, it is an outstanding example of the integration of a symbolic landscape with religious beliefs. Unique Architectural and Symbolic Features 🗿 Vat Phou's beauty lies in its purposeful design, which reflects a Hindu vision of the relationship between nature and humanity. The complex is laid out along a central axis, with its structures stretching over 1.4 kilometers from the Mekong River to the base of Mount Phou Kao. * Sacred Mountain: The temple is situated at the foot of Mount Phou Kao, which the ancient Khmer believed was a sacred mountain due to a lingam-shaped rock formation on its summit. This natural feature was seen as a manifestation of Shiva, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. The temple's layout was designed to represent the spiritual universe, with the mountain as the home of the gods and the river representing the cosmic ocean. * Processional Pathway: The complex features a long, processional walkway lined with ancient frangipani trees and ceremonial ponds (barays). This pathway leads visitors on a symbolic ascent, creating a feeling of pilgrimage and spiritual progression as they climb toward the main sanctuary. * Architectural Evolution: The site showcases the development of Khmer architecture over several centuries, with structures dating from the 7th to the 13th centuries. The main buildings, including the two quadrangular palaces on the lower level and the main sanctuary on the upper terrace, are built from laterite and intricately carved sandstone. The carvings and lintels depict various Hindu deities and mythological scenes, showcasing the exceptional artistry and craftsmanship of the time. A Fusion of Cultures and Beliefs 🕉️ Originally built as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva, Vat Phou was later converted into a Buddhist monastery in the 13th century. This transition is evident in the blend of Hindu and Buddhist elements found throughout the complex. While many Hindu carvings and structures remain, the main sanctuary now houses Buddha images and is still an active place of worship for local Buddhists. This cultural fusion adds another layer to its historical and spiritual significance. Breathtaking Setting and Serenity ✨ Beyond its architectural and historical value, Vat Phou is beautiful because of its tranquil and picturesque setting. The temple's tiered design allows for panoramic views of the surrounding plains and the Mekong River, making the climb to the top a rewarding experience. The ruins, overgrown in parts by ancient trees, evoke a sense of timelessness and connection with nature, which was a core part of its original design. The relative lack of crowds compared to more famous sites like Angkor Wat in Cambodia also contributes to a serene and reflective atmosphere, allowing visitors to fully appreciate its quiet grandeur.

Great place to visit as an extension to Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Was built around the same time although it is being renovated as it's rather falling down the hill. Worth the climb to the top as the views are amazing and you can see the natural spring and elephant rock. Look closely and you can also see the ancient roadway to Angkor Wat. Interesting place and worth the time taken to visit.

Very beautiful ancient sites ,the ticket so cheap and have golf car send us to the place , afternoon is good time to go not so much people

Visited on a rainy day and honestly didn’t mind it at all… the rain kept the crowds away so it was nice and peaceful. Entry was 55,000 Kip for non-Lao residents. The site provides buses to take you to the starting point, which is really convenient. Everything was so lush and green, and the mist made it look even more magical. The walk up to the temple was beautiful, though the stairs are quite steep, so be careful on the way up and down. The view from the top is absolutely worth it! Definitely recommend visiting, even (or maybe especially) on a rainy day.

Wat Phou is an absolutely incredible site and one of the highlights of my trip to southern Laos. It’s a bit of a trek to get there from the city, but completely worth the effort — even in the rain! The entrance fee for foreigners is 55,000 Kip, and make sure to keep your ticket handy since you’ll need to scan it both when entering and leaving the site. From the moment you arrive at the base, the views are beautiful, with lush greenery and ancient stone structures scattered across the hillside. The climb up can be a little challenging, especially if the steps are wet, but reaching the top feels rewarding. The temple ruins are stunning and full of character — it’s amazing to walk among the old stones and imagine what life might have been like centuries ago. There’s some restoration work going on, so you might hear a bit of construction noise, but it’s actually fascinating to watch the preservation process in action. Even with the rain and uneven paths, the atmosphere is peaceful and spiritual. The combination of nature, history, and impressive views makes Wat Phou a truly special experience. I’d highly recommend making the trip — it’s so worth it!
TCD — Google review
Very well preserved and maintained ruins. It is not overbuilt with contemporary garbage, like they do in Thailand.
Tapsi F — Google review
Vat Phou offers not only a glimpse into ancient history but also a journey framed by breathtaking scenery. The road leading from Pakse to the temple is smooth and pleasant, winding through lush countryside dotted with villages and rice fields. As you approach, the landscape opens to reveal the sacred mountain backdrop, creating a dramatic setting for the ruins. The view from the upper terraces is especially memorable: you can see the Mekong River valley stretching wide, with greenery merging into distant horizons. The combination of a comfortable ride and panoramic vistas makes the trip to Vat Phou as rewarding as the destination itself.

Preah Vihear Temple

The Temple of Preah Vihear is a UNESCO World Heritage site dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. It was built by seven Khmer monarchs and sits atop a cliff near the Thai border, offering breathtaking views of Cambodia below. The temple is designed to represent Mt Meru and has been an important pilgrimage site for centuries. Despite attracting many tourists due to its historical significance and unique style, it was involved in a dispute with Thailand over ownership in 1962.
Beside all of the best thing that Temple has what I’ve noticed it was that the stuff there was so nice. I’ve been too many temples, but this one got the best hospitality. For local, it’s free and for tourists I think it’s $1.25 for the ticket. For the road to the top, there’s two short steep road (45°) which kind of scary. And you got choices between riding on your own or taking the car or motor service for $2.5 per person.

Even though this a 3 hour one way drive from Angkor it's worth all the time leave early so you don't end up in a very hot sun and take refilled water bottles to hydrate. You need to buy tickets at the base of the mountain it's quite cheap along with a open drive car. It's very historical also you would have a view of Thailand from the tip of the mountain. Cold winds sometimes cool you down as u walk towards the great temple. There is almost zero waiting time and very less people visit this place. Wash r rinse your legs and hands in the perfect cold water in the man made pond it's perfect for a lovely hot day as u enter the temple.

Absolutely magical And sole reason I did a 1200km 3 days long motorcycle escapade from Phnom Penh Access is $ 15 and you can ride your own moto to the top. Ticket office is 7km down the mountain and you need to stop there to buy a ticket otherwise you can't pass the gate into the park. Final top parking is 100m away from the lowest set of ceremonial stairs. Parking offers a good selection of food stalls and resistants. The temple is about 800m long and you will.larer need to walk back more less the same distance. The final point of the temple is spectacular cliff view down south ovelokking Cambodian planes. East and west you are able to see a long row of similar cliff mountains one after another. A lot of military presence as literally 100m north is a border. Actually google maps shows that parking is on the Thai side but it must be a glitch. You do see some Thai houses maybe 250m away and some towns behind the mountain.

The most iconic ancient temples of Cambodia. Situated on the edge of a plateau that dominates the plain of Cambodia, the Temple of Preah Vihear is dedicated to Shiva. The Temple is composed of a series of sanctuaries linked by a system of pavements and staircases over an 800 metre long axis and dates back to the first half of the 11th century AD. Nevertheless, its complex history can be traced to the 9th century, when the hermitage was founded. This site is particularly well preserved, mainly due to its remote location. The site is exceptional for the quality of its architecture, which is adapted to the natural environment and the religious function of the temple, as well as for the exceptional quality of its carved stone ornamentation.

Preah Vihear Temple is an ancient masterpiece perched on a mountaintop, offering breathtaking views and stunning Khmer architecture. Built to honor the Hindu god Shiva, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Cambodia’s rich cultural pride and history. A true gem in the sky! 🌄🛕✨

Preah Vihear temple is a tranquil place, which stands in the vicinity of the borderline between Thailand and Cambodia. Besides its complex history, the site is exceptional for the quality of its Khmer architecture, in terms of carved stone ornamentation and relationship to the spectacular landscape environment. The view from this place over the endless natural treasure of Preah Vihear province is absolutely breathtaking, with acres of dense, hilly forests and scrub green vegetation.

Very nice and amazed how ancient people build it up! Quite small compare to Ankor Wat. The site take approx 60mins to walk around. A bit hot on a sunny day. Must buy a ticket and take 4WD pickup to get here. 10-15 mins up the mountain. ($10 for the ticket, $25 for pickup car).

Phanom Rung Historical Park is a Khmer temple located on an extinct volcano, offering stunning views of the surrounding area. Situated 65km from the city center, it is a major attraction in Isaan. The site forms part of the Khmer Highway and was built by the Angkor Empire. This Hindu monument to Shiva dates back to the 10th-13th centuries and features intricate carvings.
Very exciting place located on the high mountain. When I first arrived and walked in, I felt magnificent that there was a beautiful construction site built here. I was impressed with everything. The surrounding nature is lush and green. When I went, it was the rainy season, quite cool and moist, but after a while, it felt very hot. If it was the summer, I would not recommend it, it would be very hot. The ticket office is not clear. There should be a sign informing you where to park before reaching 100 or 200 meters. For example, please keep left to queue up to buy a ticket before entering because if there is no clear sign before reaching every car, you will turn in if you do not see an officer standing at the point. But overall, it is good. The general practice is to dress politely. Do not wear shorts. There are officers to tell you, but some women wear shorts. The officers do not tell you. This must be taken care of.

Not sure they open since the issue with Cambodia and Thailand. One of the must seen place in Burinam, not too far from the city centre. Entry fee is cheap, but be warn it get very hot here and not much shade. Beautiful place and fairly easy walk. But not recommend if it rain.

Phanom Rung Historical Park: Jewel of Khmer Civilization Phanom Rung Stone Castle in Buriram is a priceless legacy of ancient Khmer civilization, majestically situated atop an extinct volcano. "Phanom Rung" translates to "Mountain of Happiness," reflecting the site's beauty and mystique. The sanctuary was built between the 10th and 13th centuries CE, dedicated to Lord Shiva under the Hindu Shaivism belief. Its architecture is distinguished by intricately carved pink sandstone, including the famous lintel of Vishnu Anantasayin and pediments depicting Hindu mythologies. The castle's layout carries cosmic significance, notably the miraculous phenomenon where sunlight aligns through all 15 doorways four times a year, showcasing the astronomical wisdom of its builders. Visiting Phanom Rung is more than just seeing an ancient ruin; it's experiencing the prosperity of the Khmer Empire—its art, architecture, and beliefs—all harmoniously intertwined in a truly awe-inspiring manner.

Phanom Rung is a spectacular Khmer temple complex in Buriram Province, Thailand, built between the 10th and 13th centuries atop an extinct volcano and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Rising 402 meters above the surrounding plains, Phanom Rung (Prasat Hin Phanom Rung) is one of the most impressive and best-preserved Khmer monuments in Thailand. Constructed of sandstone and laterite, the temple was designed to symbolize Mount Kailash, the cosmic home of Shiva. Its central sanctuary, crowned with a towering prang, is adorned with intricate lintels and pediments depicting Hindu mythology, including the famous lintel of Vishnu reclining on Ananta, the cosmic serpent. Highlights of Phanom Rung Sacred Setting: Built on the rim of an extinct volcano, the temple commands sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Processional Walkway: Visitors approach via a long, paved avenue lined with stone pillars, leading to grand staircases that heighten the sense of ceremony. Architecture: The central sanctuary reflects the Angkor style, but with unique Thai adaptations, making it a masterpiece of Khmer art in Thailand. Astronomical Alignment: On certain days each year, the sun rises or sets in perfect alignment with the temple’s 15 doorways, a phenomenon that draws pilgrims and travelers alike. Cultural Role: Once a major religious center, Phanom Rung was dedicated to Shiva but later incorporated Buddhist elements, reflecting the region’s spiritual evolution. I should note pigeons and bats seem to have taken over the temple as they were everywhere (and their smells too)

It's twenty baht for thai and two hundred baht for foreigners - I felt that was a little steep to charge. But because we drove so far.I wanted to go in and enjoy the park. When you get into the park there's an observatory. You can go to but just be careful because there was a pack of dogs and we were worried if we got out of the car. They would come after us.We did stop the car and go to open the door and they ran up to the car and we just didn't go out onto the observatory. But the view from the car was breathtaking, but you can't get a good picture. The castle was absolutely amazing. The rock work and the etching and the detail was just beyond belief that this is lasted thousands and thousands of years. If you're in the area, I highly recommend that you stop by and visit this. I'll post a lot of photos. I definitely give this place a five, but I would've given it a four and a half because I feel like they overcharge foreigners.
