Mountains
The Zhurong Peak hike was one of the highlights of our trip to Hengshan. The trail passes through forests, small temples, and beautiful viewpoints before reaching the summit at over 1,300 meters. The scenery changes as you go up, and the air gets noticeably cooler and fresher. The small Zhurong Temple at the very top sits right on the rocks and feels like something out of a painting. Entry to the scenic area is 100 RMB, and if you don’t want to hike, you can take the eco-friendly bus for 78 RMB. We decided to hike up and then take the bus down, which worked out perfectly since our legs were exhausted after the climb. The weather can get intense very quickly. When we went, it suddenly turned windy and rainy, and we had to buy ponchos on the way up. Definitely bring a rain jacket, windbreaker, and waterproof backpack. The stairs get slippery, and the wind near the summit can be surprisingly strong. Good shoes are a must. It’s a long and steep hike, so start early if you plan to go on foot. The views are incredible when the clouds part, and the sense of accomplishment at the top makes it all worth it. The only downsides are the commercialization in some parts and the crowds during holidays. Still, this is a must-do for anyone who enjoys hiking and doesn’t mind a challenge. Just be ready for changing weather and bring the right gear.

Changsha Window of the World is a large theme park that offers a unique experience for visitors. It features replicas of famous global landmarks such as Mount Rushmore, the Egyptian pyramids, and the Neuschwanstein Castle. The park also showcases the Xiangjiang Valley, which highlights the rich history and culture of Hunan Province with attractions like the Yuelu Academy and Fenghuang Ancient City Gate.
Although not a perfect place and quite old, it’s a great place to pay a visit during the trip to Changsha. They have some great places for photo shooting and rides together with food stalls. The main set back is that they don’t speak English and the foods are not tolerable for foreigners like us. But overall, it was quite a nice visit.

Probably the best China could afford in those era to give it's citizens a view of the great places of the world. Now most of them probably afford to see the original ones across the globe. OK for kids, to have a glimpse of the world famous sites and monuments in the same place.
Debasish R — Google review
Window of the world was an experience! The theme park itself was quite old and worn, with a lot of the park looking dirty and unclean. But it had a certain charm and I especially enjoyed the lake's water fountain show to some Disney and opera songs. I really did enjoy it and the lack of stars is only a reflection on the tiredness of the park. Sydney Opera House for example looked as though it had been on a three week bender - looked a bit dirty and smelly, but like lots of fun...
Taylor S — Google review
Came here for a layover in Changsha. Tickets are expensive (180 RMB) and not worth it. The park was tired and worn out with barely any people during the day. Seemed almost like an abandoned amusement park. Performances were not happening and there were barely any staff in the park. Go to the one in Shenzhen...it's 10x better!

Beautiful theme park with very accurate reproductions of world famous monuments. Very nice cultural show in evening. Don't miss to see the beautiful Chinese girl dressed as Chinese traditional wedding girl. Thanks to Ms Zheng Hao who took me to this beautiful place during my visit to Changsha. Must go during visit to Changsha.

(Translated by Google) I was prepared to go after seeing the reviews saying it was old, but it was even more beautiful than I expected. It was nice that there weren't many people. I took my 1-year-old with me, and it was nice to take a walk, and there was also an indoor amusement park for kids. The staff seemed to be taking turns taking a break, so there were some play equipment that I couldn't ride on. Boats and VR require additional fees. When I ordered gyudon at a shop next to the roller coaster that rotates once, it was seasoned like a hot pot. There were also other stinky tofu shops. Although you can't see it on the map, there are many hills, so if you have small children, we recommend renting a stroller. The Ferris wheel had a lot of stairs so it was a little difficult. It was a nice change of pace. I think 20 yuan per person is cheap considering you can play this much.

Yuelu Mountain, located on the west bank of Xiangjiang River, offers a stunning display of red maple trees from mid-November to early December at the Autumn-Admiring Pavilion. The mountain is home to the Ancient Tree Botanical Garden, featuring ancient and famous trees dating back to various dynasties. Visitors can explore historical sites like Mawangdui Han Tomb and Hunan Provincial Museum while marveling at the extraordinary moon land and Tianxin Pavilion.
If you’re a foreign visitor, you can go without making a reservation. It’s a beautiful mountain right in the city. You can enjoy drinks or tea and relax at the top of the mountain. Plan to spend at least 2–3 hours in this area. it’s rich in the history of the mountain, the city, and the nearby university.

It takes around 45mins of uphill walk to reach the peak from the main gate entrance near 溁湾镇(地铁站). Was a tiring hike up, but there is an option of a tram ride. Hike up and on your way down, you can visit An Wan pavilion, then Yue Lu Academy.

This one was quite overrated for me. Once you get to the entrance you pay for a bus service to go to the top assuming you don’t want to take the long walk. Once you are up there you can see a nice view of the city but that’s about it. The other attractions here are kind of mediocre.

Tianmen Mountain is one of the many stunning attractions in Zhangjiajie, a region known for its lush vegetation and diverse landscapes. The area boasts karst upthrusts, waterfalls, limestone caves, and rivers teeming with rare flora and fauna. Visitors can also immerse themselves in the traditional lifestyle of ethnic minorities like the Tujia, Miao, and Bai people who call this place home.
Unfortunately the day I went it was very foggy but it was still an amazing experience. The cable car took us to the mountain and the rest of the journey was taken on many, many escalators but the view was still amazing. I can only imagine how breathtaking it would have been without the fog. The glass walkway was very fun to walk through and I was still able to take some amazing photos.
Beatriz F — Google review
Since I didn't book tickets for the 72奇楼 in advance, I only took photos from the outside and across the street before taking a taxi back to the hotel (staying at Hilton Hampton Hotel希爾頓歡朋酒店). It’s right opposite the Tianmen Mountain天門山 ticket station, super convenient. On the third day, since the hotel was right across from the ticket office, we could take our time enjoying breakfast before heading over. We had booked an entry time between 7:30 and 8:00 AM. There weren’t many people, so we quickly made it onto the cable car. And because it wasn’t crowded, we pretended not to understand and waited for the next cabin before getting on 😉. Due to the heavy fog—or perhaps the morning mist hadn’t cleared yet—the mountain views were sometimes clear, sometimes obscured. But I could tell we were really high up, and it was a bit scary... Finally, we reached the mountaintop. I initially thought taking the West Route would be easier, but it wasn’t until we reached Tianmen Mountain Temple that I found out we had to take the mini cable car at the summit to descend—otherwise, we’d have to backtrack along the West Route or take the longer East Route. When I saw the cable car, my legs went weak—it was basically a suspended gondola. That day, it was windy with a light drizzle, so we had no choice but to take the East Route again. When we arrived at Tianmen Cave, the opening wasn’t visible due to the fog. We had no option but to go into a restaurant and have a bowl of noodles (only wonton was available, and thankfully, it wasn’t spicy). After waiting about an hour, the fog finally lifted a little, so I took a quick "I was here" photo just to get the obligatory shot.
CaRoL — Google review
Very nice. The price was quite steep but it included the amazing cable car ride that took you directly from the heart of the city to Tianmensan in half and hour, no fuss. The view from the top was beautiful and it was also fun to ride the never-ending escalators.

Amazing mountain. Get there early and go to the West walk first to beat the tours. The glass skywalks are incredible. This is a must see if going to China. The “Avatar” mountains are great to see also. Spend the day and climb the Stairs to Heaven and Fairy peak. Get your cardio peaked because there are loads of stairs and long walks but well worth it
Adrian T — Google review
Most incredible park, even better than the National Park. There was so much fog unfortunately but the hike on top of the mountain made it so worth it, despite it. I recommend also for you to take route B, as it allows you to do the 999 Stairs to Heaven first and finish with the hike on top of the mountain. It is also a much less crowded route. You do end up taking the cableway, downward at the end of your visit

Nature is amazing, everything is breathtaking. When I've been to Japan, I've heard that you have to rely on luck to see Mt. Fuji. This place is no different. Of course, I visited on a foggy day, so I didn't get the most beautiful view, but it was still impressive and the weather was beautiful. I recommend buying comfort for your money. It will save you time, reduce fatigue, and eliminate the frustration of waiting in line.

Breathtaking scenery, a challenge to hike up the stairways till the top... it's like a stairways to heaven... lol.. with the sun ray thru the huge gap... and never ending escalators to the very top of the mountain. Finally, the Bailong lifts that brings you back safely to the other side of the mountain.

It is a great scenic spot. You take a cable car, and after that a shuttle bus. The shuttle bus goes through 99 hairpin bends to get you to the Gateway of Heaven. After that, you can also take escalators (12 in total) to the peak. You can also try to walk the 999 steps to the Gateway of Heaven. Toilets are reasonably clean, and there are a lot of food stalls. There is even a Burger King.

Tianmen Mountain National Park is a forested park located on a mountaintop, featuring a vast cave and a sprawling Tang Dynasty temple that can be reached by cable car. The park also includes Tianmen Cave, Tongtian Avenue (Avenue toward Heaven), and the Tianmen Mountain Cableway. Visitors can embark on an unforgettable adventure through this captivating destination, immersing themselves in rich history and culture while exploring iconic World Heritage Sites.
What a marvellous piece of nature this is. We went there twice. On our first visit, we took line A and explored the national park all the way to the temple. Tianmen temple may be a long walk, but it's certainly a beautiful one, and the temple itself is so peaceful. The glass bridges are all paid individually. On our way down, we took the escalators through the mountain. Oh boy! that was some great engineering! Unfortunately, the weather that day was too bad. We couldn't see the cave at all due to the mist and heavy rain, so we had to rush ourselves out. On our second visit, we took line B, the skies were clear and we got the cable car to ourselves. We saw the cave, the stairway and also stayed back for the light show. It was totally worth it!

This place is actually in Yuanding another district in Zhang Jia Jie. We had to travel about 40 minutes from WulingYuen. So it’s quite an exciting experience. You would take the world longest cable car, ride ~7.5 km right from the middle of the city , slowly climbing across the train stations and various sights , travelling into the rural areas and towards the mountain. It’s about 25 minutes ride. There are various scenic sites around the Tian men park , but we had a cloudy day and couldn’t get a good view of the mountains on the wooden planks gallery walk and glass walkway . Pro Tip you can pay more for express passes for the cable car rides . Totally worth it . And if you don’t want to climb down the 999 steps of Tianmen , you can take the world longest escalator down . N actually it’s pretty interesting seeing Tianmen iconic hole from the posterior view before the climb down .

The place was stunning. I would take route A and go west route. Stay at the Hampton. The cable car was across the streeet. Get there when they open. Lines fill up fast and queue can be up to 40 mins to hours. Got there at 7am and still waited 40mins.

Another wonderful experience on our recent trip. We were lucky enough to have a clear day/evening and a wonderful view of the cave. We climbed down the 999 steps from the cave to the ground. Steps are narrow so take your time coming down. Once dusk is upon you, the lighting just adds to the amazing atmosphere. A must go!

Took the west route. Be prepared to walk long distances. Buy entry tickets in advance as the wait time can be more than 2 hours during peak times.

In Zhangjiajie, in the same category of the Avatar's Halleluyah Mountains, this Tuanmen Mountain, aka Heaven's Gate, is a must see and experience while in Zhangjiajie It is awesome and magnificent at the same time. Imagine the effect of awesome and magnificent happening at the same time! This place although is touristy, but nevertheless it is still the place to visit and not to be missed. It is truly acwobder of GOD'S artistry in creating one huge hole into the solid mountain, hence the name Tianmen! It is truly a gateway into heaven! Couple with the 999 step of staircase leafing to this "huge hole", it truly gives you the feel of Stairways to Heaven! Blessed are the people, there are escalators for the less mobile or less physically fit ones to enjoy the scenery from the Heaven Gate.

Really cool experience, worthy to see and visit. It’s very crowded and there is more way hot get up. The most popular is half an hour long cablecar but for example in august you have to buy tickets at least one week in advance. The other way to get up or not bad either 👍

One of the most central locations in the ancient city. The nice thing about this bridge is that it’s central in the sense that many of the shops are right nearby but at the same time it’s not crowded here relative to the other places.

Three Natural Bridges

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Bridges
Located in the verdant surroundings, Three Natural Bridges are a set of limestone bridges spanning the Yangshui River. These bridges have been featured in movies like 'Full City with Golden Armor' and 'Transformers 4'. Over thousands of years, flowing water has dissolved and washed out the karst landform present in Wulong's cracks.
A great location, with plenty of nature, trees, and pleasant weather. The walking distance to the end is quite long, but you can walk constantly and enjoy the scenery around you. Along the walkway, a QR Code sheet will be put for us to scan, along with an explanation of the highlight points at that area in English, such as cliffs or rocks in various shapes, including King Kong, eagles, fish, and so on. It may be claimed that the imagination is really deep. With wonderful beauty, and it is quite amazing. As a result, it has served as a filming site for numerous blockbuster films, including Curse of the Golden Flower and Transformers 4.

A-must visit! Three Magical Bridges in Wulong is truly magical and calming. Even with a long 4 km-ish trail, I didn’t feel tired because every view was so enjoyable. I visited in autumn, and the chilly temperature made the whole experience even more beautiful. This is the filming site of Transformers 4 by the way.

I visited during the typical foggy season, but the scenery defied expectations. The misty atmosphere amplified the unique charm of China's natural landscape. What struck me most was the harmonious blend of breathtaking natural beauty and modern engineering, exemplified by the vertical lift that transports you down the cliff. The experience was awe-inspiring. Walking through the valley engaged all my senses in a way that photos simply can't capture. Visiting this place was unforgettable.
Alfred W — Google review
Used the elevator to go down to the valley. Then wandering through the cave and rocks with fresh air. Not suitable for toddler and elderly due to the long walk.
Cherryberry — Google review
This is a total scam. I cannot appreciate the so called bridges which is not but just a rock formation. The tiktok influencers craze of a finger cave or a knife cave and even a fish cave is quite difficult to accept. Ticket price is expensive and one has to walk a real distance to look at the so called bridges. Leveraging on transformers is also another thing which I find difficult to accept. Dont waste your time with this in my opinion.

Shibaozhai (East Gate)

Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
Sacred & Religious Sites
The ancient temple from the Ming Dynasty (~450 years old) is located on a small island in the village of Shibao. It is reached by crossing a hanging bridge and climbing a wooden pagoda. The pagoda was build using only wooden parts, without nails, so it has an interesting structure. Most of the information boards are in Mandarin + English, which is very tourist friendly. A few years ago the temple was connected to the village directly, after completion of the dam and the raise of the water level to 175m over sea level it became an island.
Veritas A — Google review
Take a short walk to visit an ancient temple, accessible via a bridge. The temple, once sitting at the peak of a mountain, is now below water level and is wrapped around by a 50m? concrete wall from the flooded river. The temple within a basin (盆中庙) is made of wood with no nails.
Edith A — Google review
Beautiful country, wonderful hospitality, hope to visit again someday.
Nella N — Google review
(Translated by Google) The unique monastery of Shibaozhai is usually only worth a side note in most travel guides. It is not without justification that the Chinese have placed this unique monastery complex on their country's list of historical monuments. Thanks to public funding and the construction of a huge concrete ring/cofferdam, the pagoda and the surrounding temple complex were protected so that they can still be visited after the construction of the Three Gorges Dam. Very few tourists to China will probably see the uniquely beautiful “Red Pagoda” or Shibaozhai or the “Stone Treasure Fortress”. I made sure that we were able to visit this place when structuring the trip, which I will always remember. The "Stone Treasure Fortress", visible from afar and glowing red, is a gigantic pagoda that was built on the rock like a swallow's nest on the southern bank of the Yangzi. The entire complex was built around 1650 in the Qing Dynasty. The temple-monastery complex consists of three parts: the entrance gate, the almost 56 meter high pagoda consisting of 12 floors and the temple on the mountain top. The climb up the very narrow stairs inside the pagoda is strenuous, but the views of the Yangtze and the many small and large Buddha statues are worth it. The fortress-like structure was given the name “Stone Treasure Fortress” based on an old Chinese legend: “Rice, the treasure, is said to have flowed constantly from a crack in the rock, on which the monks and their guests fed. But one day, out of greed, one of the monks carved a bigger hole in the rock to get more rice. That was the end. The spring dried up and the monastery was built in its place.” The entire temple-monastery complex is now fully developed for tourism. From the ship dock in the village, a swaying bridge made of wooden slats leads to the pagoda and temple. You will then be directed to the red pagoda, which you can climb to the 9th floor. Once there, the exit leads directly into the temple complex that was built by Emperor Qianlong. The view from this height of the slowly flowing Yangtze is magnificent. . You have to give it to the Chinese: if they want, they can do something for the culture. It would have been very sad if the construction of the Three Gorges Dam had caused the complex to sink into the water. Even if the huge concrete ring is certainly not the most beautiful sight, this unique facility has been preserved and you hardly notice it inside the facility thanks to the lush vegetation (Original) Das einzigartige Kloster von Shibaozhai ist den meisten Reiseführern meistens nur eine Randnotiz wert.

Fengdu Ghost City, also known as Guicheng, is an ancient Han Dynasty city located on the banks of the Yangtze river. It is home to numerous structures including bridges, temples, gates and sculptures that are dedicated to the afterlife. The city has gained a reputation for being eerie and unusual among Western tourists who often visit it as part of their trip along the Yangtze River.
Fengdu is often known as the 'Fengdu Ghost City' because of its deep ties to ancient Chinese beliefs surrounding the afterlife. This site features numerous temples, statues, and installations that illustrate various aspects of the afterlife according to Taoist traditions. Beyond being a significant cultural and historical landmark, it serves as a space for contemplation on life and death for those immersed in Chinese spirituality and folklore.

This is a temple that worship the underworld emperor in the Chinese folklore. It has 1900 years of history with a lot of mythical legends associated with it. The structures looked a little worn and not particularly impressive. Like many sights in China, there were many tourists. Unless you know the legends and history behind the gods worshipped, a local guide is absolutely necessary.

This place is a popular destination for lots of people especially if you are on the Yangtze River cruise. I didn't feel like a must do thing. It basically showcase the Taoist believe if he'll. And what to expect there and the deities guarding hell.

Interesting and quite beautiful. Lots of stairs, but we got the chair lift which gave a nice view of the city. Not far off the ground , so not scary at all. You do have to be quick getting on and off as the carriages don’t stop, but there are people helping you and opening and shutting doors. Can be very noisy with tourist groups here as they all use loud speaker earphones and that can be quite deafening. Tourist photo shoot going over the bridge, but you do not have to buy the photo. As usual, souvenir shops and some where to buy a drink and ice cream. Very clean toilets.
Monique F — Google review
It's a neat place to learn a little more about Taoist and Buddhist beliefs. The temple complex is actually a replica of the original, which was sadly razed during the Cultural Revolution. So although most of it dates back to only the last 10-20 years, it does faithfully recreate what was here before. The only original piece is the Lord of the Netherworld, 'cause even when following the Chairman's orders, the locals weren't stupid. The place is made up of a series of different temples, all fulfilling various purposes in Taoism and Buddhism. There are also a few allegorical tests for spirits that you can do, with varying levels of touristy knick-knacks accompanying them. The temple or shrine to the king of the underworld is active though, and you can participate if you want or just observe. But while I was there a fair few faithful came to pay their respects via an interesting tradition-they took bamboo passports with seals made from cinnabar ink, offered them to the lord, then had them ritualistically burned outside. There are limited bathroom opportunities and only snacks and bottled drinks available, so if you're not on a Yangtze River Cruise, make sure you bring supplies.

Entrance is free, however you need to pre-register online and generate a QR code for the security guard to scan upon entering. The museum is very popular among domestic tourists too, so be prepared to wait in line for the checking of tickets and also security screening. Suggested time is 1-2 hours depending on how detailed you wanna read the descriptions of the artifacts. Most of it is in Chinese though.

The Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing is definitely one of the must-do itineraries when visiting the city. Located right across from the Great Hall of the People, the museum itself is modern and impressive, both in scale and design. Inside, you’ll find well-curated exhibits that cover a wide range of topics—from the history and culture of Chongqing to the monumental Three Gorges Dam project, ancient artifacts, and even wartime history. The exhibitions are detailed and engaging, offering a good mix of cultural relics, multimedia, and reconstructed scenes that bring history to life. You can easily spend half a day here walking through the different galleries, and there’s a lot to absorb, so pacing yourself is key. It’s not just about the Three Gorges; it’s also a window into the heritage of the entire region. The museum is free to enter, which makes it even more worthwhile. With its thoughtful displays, spacious layout, and comprehensive storytelling, it’s a great place for both history lovers and casual visitors who want to understand Chongqing beyond its food and scenery.

There are too many rooms, by the end we were tired and rushing through the rooms in order to finish our visit sooner. Other than that, it's a great visit with a lot of interesting stuff.

Great place to learn about the history of Chongqing! You need to download app from WeChat. There’s a QR code you need to scan and make a reservation.

First, i would like to give a notice in advance for all traveller and especially solo traveller, this place closed on every monday. From Tuesday to Sunday, they open until 16:30. The place is quite huge, its amazing. The place is near Chongqing people square, there is a big park. You can see Chongqing People Auditorium from across the place. Huge and enourmous architecture. Near the place there a few restaurant such as KFC and Burger King, some gift store also there.

Zoos & Aquariums
Chongqing Zoo, situated in the Jiulongpo district of Chongqing, is a significant wildlife preservation center and a popular tourist destination. Since its opening in 1955, it has become home to over 4200 animals representing more than 240 species. The zoo covers an area of 45 hectares and houses rare animals such as Golden Hair monkeys, South China Tigers, and Pandas. Visitors can explore the diverse range of wildlife including giant pandas and red pandas in the Panda room.
I love panda, worth it to see them but it is too far,you phone should have a good zoom features, 1hr is enough to see and stay in the park. Better to visit afternoon for better experience and not so hot climate. We are grateful to see 4 pandas and see them ate carrots and bamboos. This is a must try when you are in chongqing china

Highly recommend using the rentable cars to get around. Too much walking in the blistering heat. The restrooms are disgusting and filthy. Make sure to go before arriving at the zoo. While they have an impressive amount of animals, the fence and cloudy glass ensure that you won’t get a good view.

Chongqing Zoo is certainly a very large facility, offering a wide array of animals. I found myself navigating vast grounds, which can be quite a walk. While the pandas are undoubtedly the stars here, and they enjoy a wonderfully spacious containment area with plenty of room to roam and play, I did observe a noticeable disparity in enclosure sizes. Some of the other animals, unfortunately, seemed to have smaller pens. This contrast can make you feel a bit conflicted about the conditions. Regarding amenities, the bathrooms are standard public restrooms. They are functional and serve their purpose without offering anything particularly noteworthy. During my visit, the heat was quite intense, which impacted my experience of seeing the animals. Many of them were wisely resting in the shade or inside their enclosures, making it challenging to spot them. If you plan to visit, I highly recommend going during cooler weather or earlier in the morning to maximize your chances of seeing the animals active. Despite the heat affecting my viewing, the sheer size of the zoo and the well-cared-for pandas remain a significant draw.

The animal wathcing experience was ok, ample food options in the zoo compound, however the downside, people actually smoke cigarettes in the zoo compound everywhere, not to forget with kids around but their parents seem unfazed by it.
Kuan L — Google review
It's a decent zoo. Prices are affordable and a good 1-2 hour walk to see some wild animals. The panda is the main attraction and is there as soon as you walk in. 🐼 They also have red pandas which are also really cute. The bear walking backward fown the stairs is funny. China needs to really clean their public bathroom cause its nasty everywhere 🚻 This zoo is a nice attraction and cheap. Take Line 2 train to "Zoo" literally. I wouldn't come back though. Nice one time experience

First time I got to see a panda! The zoo was big and we went when it was super hot but, even the attractions were cool here! The zoo has a lot of animals that are active and worth checking out.
Lang N — Google review
We got there exactly at opening hour, which is still the time the pandas are out and playful before it gets too hot. With waking up early for that!it's also a very nice zoo with each animal having a lot of space as well as a private area to be to hide from the crowds if they wish to.

Ciqikou, located on the bank of the Jia Ling River near its confluence with the Yangtze, is a charming ancient village that offers a glimpse into the past of Chongqing. With narrow streets and traditional buildings, this 1.2 square kilometer area retains an old-world charm amidst modern developments in Chongqing. The village is home to souvenir shops and restaurants where visitors can experience local flavors.
Best old town at Chongqing, not hidden by a bridge or fulled of tourist shops, even if there are some.

Nice area, although most of it is very commercialised these days. Try to go beyond the main street and explore some of the more authentic and less busy streets.

Ciqikou is an old place turn to touristy spot which has variety of local foods, cafe, coffee shop, souvenirs shop and many more. It is a big place, clean, and easy access. There is no halal food option, but me & my husband grab a delicious Indian Roti for our snacks after going around the area.

Beishan Shike is a captivating destination with a rich ancient past. To fully appreciate its wonders, it is advisable to come prepared or with the assistance of an English-speaking guide. The site boasts numerous exquisite sculptures intricately carved into the rock, each bearing its own fascinating history and narrative. However, it is important to note that the ascent to Beishan Shike involves climbing uphill and navigating several flights of stairs, making it unsuitable for individuals with mobility constraints.
Best to buy tickets at the counter. The staff was friendly and advised us best ticket combinations with freebies. We went in a group of three and did not join any local tour. It cost us around 240 RMB to book an ehailing car to travel from Chongqing city centre to here. As a result, we had sufficient time to visit the giant Buddha carvings. I noted many tour groups skip this wonderful scene.

If you're in Chongqing, don’t miss the chance to witness this stunning piece of history. Highly recommended! The serene atmosphere adds to the experience, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the beauty and significance of the site. The preservation of these carvings is impressive, and walking among them feels like stepping back in time. We book a tour with klook, but the ride here was about 2-3 hours it's crazy but worth it.

Dazu Rock Carvings, 120km from Chongqing, is a must-see place. This area consists of 2 areas 15km apart: Baoshan and Baodingshan. Baoshan accounts for about 20% of the stone statues, so you should go first. When you come here, you should buy a package ticket to visit the 2 areas and a bus ticket for Baodingshan, which is much cheaper than buying separately. You should be here when the relic site opens at 8:30 to avoid the crowds, it takes about 30 minutes to visit here. The experience of walking in the middle of a quiet green forest, listening to the birds chirping is wonderful. The statues are carved directly into the cliffs and are very beautiful. After viewing, you should leave quickly to go to Baodingshan Rock Carvings, about 15km away.

It's a nice place with an interesting ancient history. It is worth arriving with knowledge in advance or with an English-speaking guide. There are lots of beautiful sculptures carved into the rock. Each statue with a history and story of their own interesting. It's uphill with lots of stairs, so it's not for everyone. You should take this into account. If you come in the middle of the week, the place is not particularly crowded and you can certainly see everything in a relaxed and interesting way.
