Great place to explore the history of Benedictine monastery! All the buildings and structures are almost intact, remember to download the audio guide beforehand for a more complete experience!

Very beautiful and great work of restoration! We were with baby and stroller, it was very comfortable and interesting for us!
Ксения З — Google review
A beautiful place to visit. Easy to find the car park. Scan for an excellent free audio guide at the shop and then an instructive introductory video. The on-site cafe was also a pleasant surprise with fresh pastries. The audio guide gave enough information but not too much. (There was always an option for more detail.) A very pleasant couple of hours but could have easily spent more time.

We accidentally visited the monastery, but were amazed by the beauty and monumental details of this place. We even got to attend a service in the church. Highly recommended!

Very nice Monastery. Plenty of parking space. Discounts for students, not for ICOM members. The ticket lady had not a very friendly attitude for someone who works with people every day but other than that the rest of the staff very kind.

Devinssi Winery

Mentioned on
1 list
Winery
Food & Drink
Devinssi Winery is a small and authentic winery located in the Priorat region of Spain. The winery offers an amazing tour with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide named Jordi, who makes the experience lively and entertaining for visitors. During the tour, guests have the opportunity to taste six different wines, all of which are delicious and well-crafted. In addition to providing a great tasting experience, Devinssi Winery also offers shipping options to customers in the United States.
Our sunset wine tasting with Jordi was a beautiful experience! He collected us (including our dog) from the town and drove us to a picnic table set on a hillside in the middle of the vines, with stunning views of the vineyards around. The wines were delicious, varied and each with its own story. Jordi was able to point to the places where the grapes had grown. He was excellent company, and has a level of English better than a native! I would fully recommend this tour and hope to go back one day!
Lucy K — Google review
Jordi and the Divinssi team are true professionals in every sense of the word. Our tour in early November was a real treat! We had the luxury of touring the winery and the fields, with a tasting in the fields. Jordi retrieved us from town and drove us out to the vineyard in his vehicle. We talked and laughed our whole way to the vines. Once in the vineyards he pointed out the different varieties that had gone into each of the four wines we tasted. Our tasting included tasty items from the local villages (incl. ibérico ham, fuet sausage, 2 local cheeses, olives, bread, and the most amazing almonds we have ever eaten). If you are reading this review to the end, then you need to go discover the Priorat wines - and speak with Jordi!
Ken K — Google review
From moment one, Jordi makes you feel welcome. The ‘tasting room’ is the best one yet…..the wines are exclusive and yummy. The view is outstanding. This is truly a unique experience. If Jordi is available (most months of the year), wear sensible shoes & show up! Enjoy.

A Magical Wine Tasting Experience at Sunset We visited with a group of 18 and had an unforgettable evening. The setting was stunning — overlooking the vineyard at sunset — and the wines were excellent. Jordy was a great host: friendly, informative, and passionate. A perfect mix of nature, wine, and warm hospitality!
Siska V — Google review
We had an amazing tour with Jordi. All was taken care of and the wines and nibbles tasted great. We learned a lot, he really knows how to make it a great experience adjusted to what you know so far about wines. Very recommended!
Pien B — Google review
Our visit to Devinssi Winery was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived at the Pi dels Llops in Gratallops, we were greeted warmly by Jordi, who made us feel right at home. The experience began with a scenic and informative journey through the beautiful vineyards, where Jordi expertly guided us in his van. As we drove through the picturesque landscape, he shared fascinating details about the origins and age of the vines, as well as the unique characteristics of the different plots. It was a truly enriching experience that deepened our appreciation for the winemaking process. After our vineyard tour, we returned to Gratallops to the wine house for the much-anticipated tasting. The food plate, which consisted of locally produced delicacies, was simply delicious and complemented the wines perfectly. We had the pleasure of tasting four wines in total: three outstanding reds—Nas de les Valls, Il Lia, and Rocapoll—and a refreshing mineral white, Diviño. Each wine was unique and showcased the distinct terroir of the region. The visit concluded with a tour of the cellar, where the wines are aged and bottled. We left with some of our favorite wines in hand, feeling grateful for such a memorable experience. Thank you, Jordi, for an unforgettable day!
Wessel D — Google review
My daughter and I had the most fabulous day and evening with the Cellar Devinssi! We started out with a tour of their vineyard and cellar. We continued our visit with a wonderful tasting of their fabulous wines! Earlier we had contacted Jordi about staying at their newly finished apartment for the evening and it was wonderful! Everything was clean, great bed, bathroom, and easy walk to a great dinner that evening. We had a great stay and would love to return! If you are looking to stay in the area, this was a magical day and stay that a highly recommend !!
Kelly W — Google review
My wife and I visited in June and Jordi took us up for a sunset wine tasting with appetizers. Beautiful views and Jordi highlighted his wines, tasting notes and the history of the local vines. Highly recommend!!

Cartoixa d'Escaladei

Mentioned on
3 lists
Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
Cartoixa d'Escaladei is a historic Carthusian monastery founded in 1194, now transformed into a museum complex featuring cloisters, gardens, and churches. Nestled beneath the Monsant mountain range, the location offers breathtaking views. Despite ongoing reconstruction efforts that have sparked some debate, it remains an intriguing destination for delving into the region's cultural and wine-making heritage.
Definitely worth a visit. The grounds are beautiful and the mountains on the background are jaw dropping. I would recommend to have lunch at Rebost de la Cartoixa next door afterwards.
Daniela G — Google review
Beautiful, peaceful place, very much worth the 5 EUR entry ticket. There is also ample parking space.
Jenny — Google review
What an amazing place to visit. Rich in history and not well known. The ruins are beautifully preserved. A lot of restoration work is carried out. Entry fee is only 5 euros. The charterhouse was founded in 1194 and Escaladei was the first Carthusian Monastery on the peninsula. I really loved the arch at the entrance, it’s gorgeous. The square with the fountain in the middle is also stunning. If you in the area you should not miss it.
Ross M — Google review
The place is quite far away from anywhere and you must access it through curly mountain roads, yet worth it and recommended if you combine the visit with a wine tasting and lunch in the Scala Dei cellars!
Marc L — Google review
So this place is very out of the way, great if you want to visit somewhere less touristic. Entry fee is €5. The good: The restored cloister, they did a good job on it, it looks well, although parts of it were boarded up which didn't look good. The monk's cell, they restored one of them so you can get an idea of how they lived, you could see the living areas and a small cloister with plants, it was really quiet and I liked imagining how they lived. The bad: A lack of history, there are some information panels but I would have liked some more historical background. It looks a bit like a building site, I wish there were more open spaces open to the public instead of wired fences. Some of the buildings were renovated a bit, basically just a roof, they seemed very bare on the inside, no info, furniture or details. I recommend this place if you are in the area and looking for something to do
Johnjoe N — Google review
We visited Cartoixa d'Escaladei in late January 2023. We were surprised to find tour buses as we'd thought we were the only visitors in the region. There were about hundred or so tourists there. The ruins were much more extensive than I’d realized, and I hadn’t expected the renovation work that was in progress. They had restored some monk cells to give a sense of the monk’s everyday life: cloistered, i.e. no talking. They each had a small garden in which to grow flowers. I liked the desks with a view and the amazing history.
Lorena R — Google review
You need a car to get here. During our visit, theres a restoration going on. It was less touristy, so we could really enjoy the place. Hope to come back here again once everything is restored and no construction going on. The visit is still worth it.
Blanche L — Google review
Worth the visit- These old ruins were very cool. The drive up was just magical and serene. It’s about €3.50 to enter and you are free to walk around, check it out and take photos. There are informative panels all over explaining what happened to this monastery and showing you where things used to be. Definitely a cool experience and would highly suggest it!

Castell de Miravet

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
The Castell de Miravet is a magnificent Romanesque fortress reconstructed by the Knights Templar and boasts breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside. Access to this spectacular castle can be achieved via a steep and winding road, or alternatively through a well-marked path within the village. Large vehicles such as motorhomes can utilise designated parking areas located nearby. The castle offers impressive panoramic views from its grounds for an entry fee of 5 (or 3 at reduced rates).
Only ruins remaining but it provide a spectacular view of the surrounding areas & river Ebro! It's located on top of a mountain so more recommended to drive, unless you're into hiking - there's both main road and a dirt path from the village below to the castle You can walk in and buy ticket, no need prior reservation
Vince D — Google review
If visiting Miravet definitely worthwhile the visit. Most of it is in ruins but still a interesting visit and definitely worth the € 5,- entrance. The walk up is fantastic and very scenic but heavy uphill if one not in good shape or difficulties in walking.
Lars I — Google review
Wonderful views, odd parking guide. There was a guy in the middle of the road denying access with a car saying it's only 12 mins walk (is not). It's a steep hike to the top and there is quite a big parking place next to the castle anyway. We returned later and went with a car which was the better choice to be able to enjoy the castle too. The castle is under renovations so entrance was only 3 euros because not all places were open.
Tuija T — Google review
Wow, Miravet Castle is like stepping into a medieval saga perched above the Ebro River! The views from the ramparts are absolutely jaw-dropping think endless rolling hills and the river winding like a silver ribbon below. I paid €5 for the ticket (totally worth it, students get it for €2!), and the climb up the tribute tower’s spiral staircase had my heart racing not just from the effort but those epic panoramas at the top. Insider tip: wear comfy shoes, the cobblestone path from the village is steep and slippery in spots. Oh, and did you know this Templar fortress was once a Moorish stronghold before the Knights transformed it in the 12th century? Save time for the pottery shops in Miravet’s old town they’re a hidden gem!
Sam L — Google review
Friendly staff, beautiful Templar castle with stunning views over Miravet. Tons of cool info about the history of the place.
Nunya N — Google review
I loved this town! We drove to the castle, which was nice but not as nice as others in the area. But, the views were incredible! I loved the river going through the town. Our friends drove the car back down, and I went took the easy walking path through the trees. I wouldn't have wanted to walk up it, but down was easy. It empties into the town, and walked down through small streets to the river. The cute mouse house had to be noted! I hear you can kayak in the river but the current looked VERY strong, so I'm not sure it's something I'm able to do. People were swimming close to the shore though. There's a small cafe where you can eat, too. Certainly come check it out!
Shannon K — Google review
Highly ridiculous. I knew that prices had risen due to inflation, but the price to enter this castle is a crime. If you are a history lover and you like to see empty castles with only stone, this is an ideal place for you. I expected there to be materials typical of the century in which construction began. Honestly, in my opinion, it's not worth it. The views are not that pretty (although I have to say that when I took the view the day was cloudy). It only took us 20 minutes to see the entire castle. The truth is, I don't understand the people who recommend visiting this place, if you know someone who recommends it, tell them that I pay a visit to the eye doctor, they really need it. In my opinion, the town looks like the set of a low-budget zombie movie. thank you very much 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼❤️
Carlaa — Google review
Not a bad castle/ruin but to pay 5 eur and can't even go to the top of the castle because it was closed, is too much. In general for 10 min you are done, so walking up the hill takes more time than to view the castle...There is WC for free and the staff was polite and English speaking. You can also go by car

Nature & Parks
Parc de la Mitjana in Lleida is a vast and stunning park located on the outskirts of the city. It gives off a natural reserve vibe with a river flowing through it, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can spend hours exploring the park, enjoying picnics, and playing at the well-maintained children's play area which includes a pond and bridge. The park offers excellent opportunities for hiking, cycling, and running, making it perfect for outdoor activities.
Beautiful park, we spent almost 3hours just walking around, playing at the parks and enjoying a picnic. The restrooms were clean and easy to access. The children's play area is beautiful and even has a pond and bridge.
Elisa B — Google review
On the edge of the city of Lleida, and known as the "Lung of Lleida" La Mitjana is a great area for walking, cycling, canoeing, going for a family picnic, and birding. A lot of work has gone and still goes into its approximately 100 hectares of gallery woodland, maintaining paths, walkways, footbridges and waterways. It's popular with the inhabitants of Lleida, many of whom walk their dogs there or go jogging or cycling. White and Black Poplar, willow, ash and tamarisk are the main trees and bushes, and together with the river Segre and the canal de Balaguer they attract a good number and variety of interesting birds. Woodpecker, for example, have become well-established, with Wryneck, Greater Spotted, Lesser Spotted and Iberian Green Woodpecker all possible. Then you have Golden Oriole, Common Kingfisher, Penduline Tit, White Stork, Eurasian Hoopoe and more to make a stroll through La MItjana with your binoculars a valid proposal if you are in the city.

Parked in the Motorhome Aire, which was free and excellent. We walked up into the town up to the Parador Hotel (Calatrava castle) which is open to non residents for drinks. We then walked the town. All done in 2 hours with time for a drink

It is one of the best places to watch the race from on this track. You can see the first turn melee and entrance into the second turn. Higher seats grant a visibility (brief) of back straight while lower seats bring you quite close to the action. Would chose these seats again although be warned that there is no sun protection whatsoever and sun pretty vicious there.

Castillo de Monzón

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Great climb up the ramp and stunning views of the region from the top! It was great to imagine the castle throughout time. We visited in summer of 2023 and had great weather and guided experience
Eric M — Google review
Absolutely worth the visit! Castillo de Monzón is a stunning and atmospheric fortress with incredible history, especially tied to the Knights Templar. The views from the hilltop are breathtaking, and the castle itself is impressively preserved. One of the most fascinating parts is that this was once a major Templar stronghold and even the childhood home of King James I of Aragon, who was trained here by the Templars. Walking through the ancient dormitories, chapel, and towers really gives you a sense of how powerful and mysterious this place must have been in its prime. We spent a couple of hours exploring and could’ve stayed even longer. The interpretive center is very informative, and the atmosphere is unique—especially for anyone interested in medieval history, castles, or the legend of the Templars. Highly recommended, especially if you can visit during the annual Homenaje Templario festival. A hidden gem in Aragón that truly brings history to life.

The staff at the shop are attentive and offer helpful recommendations, allowing guests to sample wines before making a purchase. The winery's industrial and automated setup sets it apart, offering a unique concept in wine production.
This place was amazing. If you can, try to book something with Pablo, what great customer service and knowledgeable about the winery. I wish we were staying longer in the region. I would 150% go back. Side note the winery is beautiful as well!

Restaurant has a great potential but unfortunately it is not there yet. We ordered a tasting menu and all the plates were well served. It starts with a delicious hummus along with some mussels and salmon. It follows with mediocre arroz con calamar which was also fine. But the rest was disappointing. Salmon was not tasty and the sauce couldnt save it. It continued with lamb shoulder which was bland and also weird in a seafood heavy tasting menu. In general tasting menu didn’t have harmony which makes you to switch from white wine to red in the middle. Desserts were also nothing special. Wine could have tasted better if the menu was considered part of it. Wineyard is huge and the ambience is really good. Staff was really pleasant and friendly. They can make the experience much better if they reconsider their menu as a whole.

A cool experience- My partner and I love wine and decided to visit the Sommos Winery! It’s on the top 10 list of the most modern and innovative wineries in the world and we wanted to check it out! The experience was great! We paid €10 each and got a tour of the space, a video speaking about their winery and a 3-wine tasting (total of 90 minutes). Our tour guide (Lidia) was amazing and so charismatic! She made this experience a wonderful one! Have to say, was a bit disappointed with the wine. I was expecting a phenomenal wine however I wasn’t impressed with any of the 3 we tasted. Were hoping to take a bottle home but didn’t, in the end. Would still recommend the experience for wine enthusiasts!

Driving through Spain we discovered this very beautiful building of Sommos. Impresive building. Wine tour was full so no possibiliity to visit. We bought some bottles.

The girl at the shop was really super attentive and helpful. You can try the wines before buying, and they seem to know what they talk about, which is not always the case. The domain itself looks really nice. And they were opened on the 1st of November when all the others were closed.

We were able to stop in without a reservation and do “tasting”/ order glasses of wine to try. We loved the Sauvignon and Tempranillo, and our sommelier was very knowledgeable about wine, the surrounding area, and Spain. Thanks for having us!
Sarah H — Google review
Excellent visit. Very attentive english speaking guide, generously served various samples in addition to the offer of 4 wine tasting for 10 eur as our conversation about their wines evolved. Tasted mostly whites, excellent Sauv. Blanc in particular, but also interesting Grenache Blanc, Chardonnay. Great Cab. Sauv. as well. The vinification happens 27 meters underground and grape pressing is non mechanical. Great mix of evolving tradition and respecting the culture.

Very interesting and worth the visit. One of the most industrial and automated bodegas in Spain. Different concept but worth while.

(Translated by Google) We went to visit the old town of Belchite and we can only highly recommend it. Know the entire history of the place, how it affected the actions of both sides during the war, how the new town emerged, etc. It has been very interesting. Best of all, the guide, Raquel, and her companions are from the place and give testimonies of the people who lived there and who they know, stories of people still alive, events that still take place and their fight to keep the place standing to be able to continue telling what happened there.

(Translated by Google) We've been here twice. The first time was for the daytime visit, which focused on the story of everything we've experienced. The second time was for the nighttime visit, so we could experience the other, more mysterious side of it all. Unfortunately, it was an extremely large group; there were many children and adults who weren't behaving properly, which prevented us from enjoying the experience, but we'll definitely be back. Both times we were with Raquel, and she was delightful. Thank you so much for the experience.

Cathedral of the Savior of Zaragoza

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Cathedral of the Savior of Zaragoza, also known as La Seo, is a stunning architectural marvel that combines Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque styles. Situated on Plaza de la Seo, it holds historical significance as it was built on the site of one of the first mosques during Moorish rule in Aragon. Over the centuries, it has undergone various renovations and additions reflecting Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque influences.
This is a magnificent and stunning piece of architecture and art, no less than any other churches of this style, with the choir in the centre, but it is far less crowded and expensive as in other more popular cities in Spain. No long queues to enter, no booking in advance, and one can stroll leisurely and admire every detail. I am so glad that I stop by Zaragoza.
Connie W — Google review
The Catedral del Salvador de Zaragoza, commonly known as La Seo, is an absolute masterpiece that genuinely captivated me. While many visitors flock to the more famous Basílica del Pilar, overlooking La Seo would be a grave mistake. This magnificent temple boasts stunning architecture, with its intricate domes, numerous chapels, and breathtaking art creating an atmosphere of profound beauty. It's immediately clear why this cathedral holds the prestigious title of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Every corner reveals centuries of history and artistic brilliance, making it an unforgettable experience that truly stands apart.
William L — Google review
This is a must see. It’s just stunning. Try time it for mass. A lot of tourists are walking around, looking at all the art periods, Capellas. The audio guide is necessary, they’ve a children’s audio guide too. The staff are so kind & patient. It’s mostly wheelchair accessible except the gift shop & tapestries. The beauty & building for the glory of God is a feast for your eyes. Again the ticket here can be also used at ‘the glass rosary’ You’ll need more time than you think in this cathedral. Look at the tapestries. If you like art this is for you.
Á D — Google review
This was the best historical site we saw in Zaragoza. It covers several periods, invasions & conversions. The audio guide for children and another for adult work really well. Lots of language options. It’s mostly wheelchair friendly but the gift shop, up one step and the tapestry’s are up several flights of old broad stairs. Everyone is so friendly. The detail of each little chapel can be a little overwhelming at times. The effort, skills & expense put into them. The personal Family history.
Aine D — Google review
Pretty amazing place, but quite crowded on the weekend. It's also closed around lunch time so you can't really go in and take advantage of smaller crowds. All that said, it's not worth taking a special trip to Zaragoza just for this and a couple other churches that are around. If you're in the area, or you're passing through, you definitely should visit.
Loech M — Google review
Very nice and important place to see. The cathedral has some magnificent architecture and decour, also there is a wonderful tapestry museum inside which I would say is a must see for any history and decour enthusiast. The visit includes a great audioguide in multiple languages.
Michał Ł — Google review
One of the most impressive cathedrals in Spain, also constantly underrated and overshadowed by El Pilar for obvious reasons, it retains a big artistic value in unique from the wood altarpiece to the choir or all the baroque interiors, plus the mudejar tiles on the façade or the collection of rich medieval tapestries. It reflects the role of Zaragoza as witness in a crossroads of civilizations from Roman to Visigoth, muslim, and Christian again in Romanesque, Gothic, renaissance, unique mudejar with arab reminiscences, baroque, neoclassic, etc all in one single building

The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar is a stunning Baroque structure adorned with vibrant cupolas and renowned for its shrine to the Virgin Mary. Inside, visitors can admire frescoes by Goya. While it's worth exploring this architectural gem, nearby villages like Aninon and Torralba de Ribota boast exceptional examples of Mudejar architecture, such as the Church of Lady of Castillo and the Church of San Felix.
Breathtaking and Majestic El Pilar is absolutely stunning—both inside and out. The architecture is grand, the interior is peaceful and awe-inspiring, and the views from the towers are unforgettable. A place filled with history, beauty, and spiritual calm. A true gem of Zaragoza and a must-visit for anyone in the city.

A most exquisite building dedicated to Saint Mary who appeared on a pillar which is now enclosed but you can kneel before it and touch part of it. The soaring ceiling and beautiful sculptures are breathtaking. Each of the chapels has its own glorious artworks. The chapel at the back of the church is extraordinary with a separate open roof structure. A true gem.

The Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar in Zaragoza is a breathtaking masterpiece of Baroque architecture and a deeply spiritual landmark. With its grand domes, stunning frescoes by Goya, and peaceful riverside setting, it’s a must-visit for both art and history lovers. Don’t miss the panoramic views from the tower and the nearby Puente de Piedra for perfect photos.

Simply mammoth size of a Cathedral....hard to photograph it was so large but got some shots on a stormy night from the bridge. Beautiful tiling on roof. Beautifully carved altar and wonderfully cool inside. Sadly a couple of the towers were being renovated but understandable.

Such a beautiful Basilica. Seeing the Pilar where our Lady billocated was so special. We timed it well for Holy Mass. you do need an hour to explore afterwards. Plenty of priests were there to hear confessions. Architecture was spectacular, the paintings, sculptures- a pure joy to be there. Plenty of Capella for praying along. Rosary after 12 mass.

The church was absolutely stunning, with its magnificent architecture leaving me speechless. The intricate stonework and towering spires created an awe-inspiring silhouette against the sky. As I walked through the grand entrance, I was captivated by the rich history that enveloped the space; it felt as though time itself had been preserved within these walls. The ornate stained glass windows cast vibrant colors across the interior, illuminating the beautifully carved wooden pews. I found myself particularly mesmerized by the elaborate details on the facade, where every chiselled figure and decorative element seemed to tell a story of its own. It was an experience that left a lasting impression on my heart.

Aljafería Palace, also known as Palacio de la Aljaferia, is a must-visit in Zaragoza. This 11th-century palace serves as the seat of the Aragonese Parliament and offers guided tours. The palace's fortified exterior contrasts with its stunning interior featuring Mudejar art declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Inside, visitors can admire the breathtaking myrhab, alveolate arches, an orange tree patio, and the golden hall.
We love Spain and Moorish architecture so this was a most enjoyable visit on a roasting day. Don't forget to look up at the amazing ceilings....bit hot for visiting the gardens which may potentially may only have consisted of a number of trees within some dusty paths. There was some Goya art there as the official exhibition is closed. Not art to my personal taste but I appreciate he is a local hero.
Jeph B — Google review
This used to be a fortified Islamic medieval palace built between 1065 and 1081 that eventually housed the regional parliament of Aragon. I was amazed by the intricate mixtilinear arches and springers, with arabesques over a large area. Definitely worth the money (not expensive) and time spent there. Notable sights include the Golden Hall, Mosque, Santa Isabel Courtyard, Palace of Peter IV and Palace of the Catholic Monarchs. When I was there, Goya’s works were also temporarily exhibited here, with the Goya Museum being renovated. So it was a 2-in-1 visit.
Mo L — Google review
The place looked beautiful, and definitely is very cool from the outside. However, we were unable to go in because the tickets are not working from the online system. There was a long line, and we went to buy our tickets online, but definitely with the mobile device it was not working. It seems to be fairly typical that many of the websites in Spain don't work. 😞😵‍💫
Loech M — Google review
1. Before my visit, it was not clear to me whether tickets had to be purchased in advance or not, so as not to waste time in queues. I visited Aljaferia Palace on a Friday afternoon in September. There was no queue for tickets. The ticket office is a small booth outside the walls of the Aljaferia, on the side of Calle de los Disputados street. 2. As with many Spanish attractions in Zaragoza, the explanations are perfect in Spanish :-) , but there is no information in English. I had installed the Aljaferia Palace app. This app contains numbers, but unfortunately these numbers do not correspond to the numbers found in the various rooms. Well, how difficult is it to do something properly... 3. Coming back to the tickets. Apparently, you can take guided tours in English during the summer. September is no longer summer, so guided tours were only available in Spanish. Try booking a ticket in advance on the website, and I wish you luck understanding it... I see online tickets for locals, for students, for all kinds of groups of people, but not for a foreign (English-speaking) tourist who wants a regular visit without extras. Has anyone ever taken a critical look at this booking web page? 4. Although the style is also Moorish, it is not comparable to, for example, the Alhambra in Granada, which is much more beautifully integrated into the landscape and has much more beautiful gardens, water features, and buildings.
J. A — Google review
It is a magnificent building to visit especially on a Rainey day. Though our visit coincided with a film crew on site. Restricting locations and sound levels. As we had just arrived we could not come back another day. We were still charged full price to enter.
Albert R — Google review
An absolutely amazing piece of history not too far from the centre of Zaragoza. I booked the English tour for 9 euros and it was well worth the money. I would recommend the tours because you will get a lot more of the history of the palace and you will enjoy the visit more.
Martin F — Google review
One of the most interesting archaeological heritage buildings that shows our shared cultural and artistic links of Aragon and Spain with the Muslim world while showing the evolution and its later role in Christian time as a royal fortress since Ferdinand and Isabella. If it was located in France or Italy it would have been visited 10 times more. A hidden gem worth visiting and cherishing and discovering all its treasures.

Monasterio de Piedra is a stunning natural park located in Nuevalos, where the Piedra river creates a breathtaking setting around a 12th-century monastery. The park features waterfalls, caves, and lush vegetation amidst an otherwise arid landscape. Visitors can explore the monastery's walls steeped in eight centuries of history since its consecration in 1218.
The park is simply fantastic; spending a day there is a great pleasure for the whole family. The fresh air and the river create a wonderfully warm atmosphere. If you happen to see the birds perform, you're in luck. Come and see.

It is certainly a noteworthy and highly recommended experience in Zaragoza. Initially, one might be taken aback by the 19€ entrance fee for the hike. Nevertheless, after traversing the path, it quickly becomes apparent that it is worth every penny. We visited in October and enjoyed delightful weather. I can imagine that it might be quite warm during the summer months. A small suggestion: opt for the longer hiking route instead of the shortcut, provided you are physically capable, as you will not be disappointed.

Actually, during this photoshoot, we were also driven away. The location itself was quite remote and inconvenient to access—it required about one half an hour of driving from the city center—though the scenery there was truly beautiful. What was infuriating was that just when we were about to leave, an elderly staff member angrily warned us that we shouldn't wear "such Japanese-style clothing" and that we should "wear normal clothes." It wouldn't have been a big deal initially, but he kept pressing us, and that made me angry. I explained clearly that this is, in fact, Chinese-style clothing. But he responded with a dismissive expression, saying, "I don't care which country it's from—you just can't dress like this here." He went on to say a lot of very disrespectful things. We had already explained that other staff outside had allowed us to enter, yet he still confronted us angrily behind our backs. I just want to say: you can be upset if our unconventional clothing disturbed your work, but you shouldn’t discriminate against a character like this. Even if the character I’m cosplaying isn’t a good person, we’re all here out of love for the craft, investing our own time, money, and effort—some of us even traveled four hours from other cities just to be there. In that moment, I nearly lost my temper and felt like cursing at him, just like Xue Yang would have. My friend, cosplaying as Jin Guangyao, probably noticed the look on my face and stepped in to calmly talk to the other party. Anyway, with all that happened, and considering the remote location despite its beauty, I said I won’t be going back again. ---

Absolutely wonderful place to visit. The only things I was missing were the better indications of the pathways. We spend more than 3 hours there photographing and enjoying the beautiful nature. The light was amazing in the morning. It is not suitable for people with wheelchair. Also, there are quite tough parts on the path going up and down the stairs.

I went there for the Spa and the termal waters after I ws on a trip through the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. We'll, it is very sad but there is no a positive way to compare them. This place was more expensive, the water was either very cold or lukewarm and the lack of maintenance was unbelievable, I mean the little mosaics titles were loose in the pools floor. Some of the water taps were not even working, but of course everything was about to be fixed the next day. Typical Spaniard answer. And, even tho the entrance is pricey for what it is the charge you extra for a pool cap.

WOW!! Allow a whole day for this place. Good walking conditions with correct footwear. Lots of waterfalls means lots of damp and slippy areas..but worth it. And don't forget to stop and see the raptors..amazing!! Trying to edit my post 🤞Also, you can follow the path down to the waterfall and go behind it! Follow the steps down to the cave, it's well lit and has handrails. Not for small toddlers or prams and pushchairs...and probly not good for dogs unless they trained in cave rescue!😂but the view from behind the waterfall is sooo beautiful and breathtaking and wet!! Wear your hood up, no umbrellas, you will need both hands to take photos!

Bardenas Reales is a vast desert region known for its soaring canyons, sandstone cliffs, and rocky outcrops. The Hotel Aire de Bardenas offers a unique stay with its modernist design rising unexpectedly from the rocky earth at the border of the desert. Visitors can explore the area by car, quad, or enduro bikes but should be cautious as some parts are challenging to navigate.
Wonderful area, somewhat alike west USA parks, notably Monument Valley, ah a smaller scale. There’s a military area in the center of the natural reserve of the White Bardenas; hence forbidden to any visitors. However, there remain quite a number or district to visit and watch at either nord or south this military district and of course around as it’s surrounded by a gravel track which cycles and cars of any kind may drive. At lest by dry weather. I do recommend that wild place! Check weather forecasts for possible high temperatures in summer, or rain in winter (or fog as I had on a late December day !) especially if you aim to take photos

This place is great. But how do you get there? I found get to Arguedas and follow the signs easiest. It’s not complicated. The roads are more track than tarmac but perfectly fine for cars. You could also enter via El Paso, but it’s not so well signposted. From Arguedas it’s a straight track until you reach the army base, where you turn left. Don’t mistake the first ‘stack’ as the iconic photo. Travel 2 km up the track and there’s a clear stopping place where you can get out and have a 360 degree view once you’ve climbed the easy path. Then continue on for another 2 km and you’ll reach the classic photo stack which has plenty of parking space. To get out you can keep going, left out of the car park or simply do it all again in reverse back to Arguedes.

The cathedral's tower provides a great vantage point for panoramic views of the city.
Not to be missed. Remarkable ..but so far removed from the tomb at Gethsemane to be in my mind obscene. But, nevertheless, something to be marvelled at. Visit the Jewish quarter across the river afterwards. That ,too, is worth seeing

A must do in the area. The recently restored cathedral was in the verge of succumb a few years ago. Now, still under restoration, you can enjoy the main cathedral as well as tower with great view of the city. The guided tour is really enjoyable and contributes to the restoration of the cathedral

(Translated by Google) Imposing and steeped in history, the exterior of the Cathedral of Santa María de la Huerta impresses with its blend of styles, especially Romanesque and Gothic. The main entrance is a sculptural marvel, and the tower, visible from various points in the old town, stands out in the cityscape. It's well worth a visit to admire the architectural details. Ideal for art and history lovers. (Original) Imponente y llena de historia. (Translated by Google) A visit to the Cathedral of Santa María de la Huerta is highly recommended. Admission is €5, and considering its condition after 30 years of closure for restoration, it's truly admirable after seeing the images of its former state. From the outside, you can already appreciate its multiple architectural styles, enshrined throughout its centuries of history. The Mudejar façade stands out, along with a Gothic-style floor plan with its ribbed vaults and the choir stalls at the center of the basilica. It also has numerous chapels that are still being restored.

(Translated by Google) ⛪ Today we visited the Cathedral of Santa María de la Huerta in Tarazona (Aragón), and it truly surprised us. It's impressive from the outside, but inside it's truly breathtaking: a mix of styles, beautiful domes, a huge altar, and several chapels steeped in history. It also has a small museum with interesting exhibits and explanations about what happened there during the Civil War, even featuring references to Goya's works. It's very close to La Seo, so you can see everything on foot. It's a visit totally worth it if you enjoy heritage and cultural tourism. Sendaviva, Natural Park of Navarra is an adventure theme park that offers a mix of attractions, animals, and shows. The park has made efforts to improve accessibility by incorporating QR codes on animal signs for visually-impaired visitors. It's a family-friendly destination with funfair rides and various animal species including lemurs, tigers, and bears.
Good place to spent time with family 💚 large area with animals, many activities, large playgrounds, a real adventure for children. We didn’t manage to get around everything during the day. We rode on children's attractions: a train on a farm, horses, towers and others . You can collect coins and exchange them for a lottery (crab fishing, searching for precious stones and others). We visited all the water areas (3 large slides, water labyrinths, water places for the little ones). There are fear rooms, place for lunch. There is a queue for some of the attractions (for example, we didn’t try the rodelbahn). This is a development zone of the park, I would like to minimize them so as not to stand for several hours.

We had a great time with our 2 kids! It’s what I call a “Bosque Disneyland” ☺️👌beautiful views, great rides for little ones and for adults. We absolutely loved the circus 🎪 and the most exciting for me personally was bobsleigh experience. My 7 year old daughter loved the haunted house escape room so much, that we had to do it 3 times! 😅
Irene 5 — Google review
Good place to spend a day with children. If your children like animals, they will have a wide variety of animals to see. The rides are fun, and here I mention the Bobsleigh, the tubing and the self drive boats. On the negative side, this Parc is huge and there are large distances to be covered. If you are with small children, they will get tired pretty fast. The day we went it was very crowded too, so there was a lot of queueing up to get to the rides, anywhere from 15 minutes to almost an hour for the bobsleigh. Parking is free but quite far away, if you want to park closer to the Parc, you pay 9 euros for a day in a parking place that is not only nearer to the entrance but your car is also protected from the sun.
Adriana B — Google review
We really enjoyed the park. Great surprise and in April was not too crowded we cools do almost all the attractions. Lots of fun for young children.
Jerome C — Google review
Good sized park with plenty to do. You can easily spend a full day here. Bring swimwear as there are both dryland and wet activities. We didn't realise this and it was a shame. If you want to do the Zipline, you need to book this in advance - this was not clear (to us non-Spaish speakers) from the website. Negative point: you're not allowed to bring your own food in. They do charge a little extra for some things targeted at young children, inside the park which is unfair after paying a hefty entrance fee for a family. It would be better to get a couple of tokens with your entry that you can use for those games.
Michelle T — Google review
The area where the birds are kept have metal doors that slam and make a terrible noise, which clearly freaks the birds out. Please go to any store and get those tear drops that you stick on doors to reduce this noise. Throughout the park, we saw many children banging on the glass windows/panels to get birds, tigers, lions' attention. As their parents didn't do anything, please put up signs reminding visitors to not shout at the animals nor bang on the glass panels. If this is indeed an educational park, it is your duty to look after every being in your park. Thank you

Nestled atop the charming village of Ujue, the Iglesia de Santa María is a stunning example of Romanesque architecture, originally constructed in the 11th century on the site of an ancient temple. Declared a National Monument in 1936, this fortress-like church captivates visitors with its beauty and historical significance. The journey to reach it involves navigating picturesque cobbled streets that add to its allure.
Nice place to visit , worth a walk in this medieval village , many good place for have a good food !

It is a small castle, there is really not much inside. Church was small, but nice, entrance is free. To turn on the lights in the church you need to drop a euro. Parking is a bit confusing and be careful driving on tiny streets. It is a small town and besides the castle/church there is not much to visit. If you want a see a town that has a feel of "old" Spain, it is worth visit.

(Translated by Google) The Church-Fortress of Santa María de Ujué is located in Ujué (Navarre, Spain). It is originally a Romanesque church, surrounded by various buildings that disguise it. Its most distinctive feature is its military fortress appearance, thanks to its crenellated towers (Cuatro Vientos and los Picos), patrol paths, and robust buttresses. Today, it is an important Marian shrine, a National Monument, and has undergone significant renovations. It is one of the town's jewels, thanks to its beautiful galleries, its large Gothic nave with a Romanesque chevet, and its two doorways. The northern one, simpler, is decorated with highly descriptive scenes, and the southern one, the main one, is a Gothic masterpiece worth a stop. The entrance fee is voluntary. The Royal Palace of Olite is a medieval fortress complex with towers, battlements, courtyards, and gardens. It has a rich history dating back to the 15th century when it began to deteriorate after Navarre was invaded. The palace was intentionally burned during the Peninsular War in 1813 but has since been restored to its original grandeur. Today, it stands as a major tourist attraction in the quiet town of Olite.
A really nice place to visit in nice quiet town. I was lucky to make it on a Monday afternoon with free entrance. Thanks. I enjoyed the palace. When you make it to the top of the towers the wind blows very strong.

We were recommended to visit this castle by a member of staff at the parador at Calahorra. Whilst it was a detour from our planned route, it was most certainly worth it. A stunning building and an entrance fee which was unbelievably low, for people of a "more mature age". Indeed had this been an historic building in the UK, possibly run by the National Trust, the entrance would have been a minimum of 10 times the fee in Olite. It is wonderful to see how the Spanish authorities are, when it comes to restoration and maintenance of their historic sites. This castle is amazing and should definitely be on everybody's list if visiting this part of Spain.

We were the only German family (without any Spanish skills) visiting Tierra Rapaz – and we had an absolutely amazing, unforgettable holiday experience! The shows and the close contact with the animals were just incredibly impressive. You can really feel the love and dedication in every single detail – it’s clear that this is a place run by people with true passion. What we didn’t know beforehand: The visit actually fills the whole day, from morning to evening – but it never feels long or boring. It’s varied, exciting, and also relaxing, with fantastic shows and plenty of time to explore, play, and admire the animals. Our 4-year-old daughter was absolutely thrilled – she fell asleep in the evening full of joy and new impressions. A huge thank you to the entire team, who work together so wonderfully – especially with the animals. The opportunity to get so close to the birds is truly unique and something we won’t forget anytime soon. A very special thank you goes to Camila, who accompanied us so warmly throughout the day and translated everything into English – that was truly amazing! Tierra Rapaz is worth every cent. We highly recommend it!

Ideal place to be with the hole family, children and adults will be happy here. Place of conservation and study of "birds of prey" in a marvellous and little unknown land, La Rioja. They have the best wine from Spain in this region but not only, you can also find hidden jewels like "Tierra Rapaz". The place is large, with two bird exhibits, day and night prey birds, worthy of the best zoos all-over the world. The love and affection they have for the birds can be seen in each place of the enclosure. A must-see if you're in northern Spain.
Carlos B — Google review
An amazing experience, the owner’s love and enthusiasm for the birds is one of a kind and will make you love these birds just as much. Highly recommend, you can spend the whole day there without realising, especially as there’s something to do at regular intervals

The animals are tied by their legs so they won’t fly away. The place is very local and no one speaks English. If you don’t know Spanish, you won’t understand what’s going on there. It’s nothing like the pictures – more of a show for petting wild animals. We came all the way here based on the reviews and were really disappointed.

Tierra Rapaz is a Shelter for birds. Especially predators like Hawks of all kinds aswell as eagels, stitches, and many more. They take birds in that wouldn't survive in the wild and train them ,very well if I might add. The whole team is very friendly, and most of them speak good English. This place is well worth the visit. For both hound and old. It's an amazing experience. The have a fantastic and very impressive Show, and let you come into real up close contact with the birds. Don't expect anything fancy though. Just allot off new and amazing experiences. I would recommend anyone to go there without hesitation!

A not-particularly-enjoyable dinosaur theme park. Any links with the genuine dinosaur footprints, which are five minute's drive away at the Icnitas De Enciso, are tenuous to say the least - the "museum" here is a real afterthought. If you want to actually find out about the dinosaur footprints, go to the Centro Paleontológico de Enciso in town instead. The food was mediocre at best - bagged salad with tasteless tomatoes in Spain should be a crime - and overpriced. We only came here to eat because the restaurant in the Posada Santa Rita in town was full, so unless you actively want to come here make sure you book at the posada before coming to Enciso. The staff looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. We did see kids enjoying themselves in the pools, but that was about it.

Nature & Parks
Nestled in the stunning La Rioja mountains, the Monastery of Nuestra Señora de Valvanera is a hidden gem that offers an enchanting escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Although much of it was rebuilt after a fire in the last century, remnants of its original charm remain intact. Visitors are drawn to its serene atmosphere and breathtaking views, making it one of the most tranquil spots among local monasteries. The accommodations are comfortable and impeccably clean, providing a cozy retreat for travelers.
Most of this was rebuilt after a fire in the last century, but parts of the original remain. However, the real attraction is the extraordinary atmosphere of peace and serenity, coupled with the views. In that respect certainly the best of the three mountain monasteries in the region.

Museums
Museo de la Paz de Guernica, located in the central Plaza de los Fueros opposite the Town Hall, is a former post office that now serves as a symbol of peace. The museum reflects on the theme of peace and its connection to the tragic events during the Spanish Civil War. It stands as a reminder of the devastating bombing by German forces in 1937, which inspired Pablo Picasso's famous artwork 'Guernica.'
Great museum which gives context and information on one side and uses a lot of videos and audio-visual elements to turn the light on individual experiences.
Jan-Philipp T — Google review
Through informative panels you learn about the bombing that happend in 1937 of which Picasso made his famous painting. The footage of victims who where interviewed at old age was very haunting.. panels in Basque and Spanish, but you get a very good paper guide in several other languages about what you read and see...
Peter J — Google review
The Museo de la Paz de Guernica stands out as an impressively designed place of remembrance and reflection. Its didactically well-structured layout deserves particular praise: one level is devoted, with great historical depth, to the Spanish Civil War and the tragic events surrounding the bombing of Guernica in 1937. The exhibition succeeds not only in conveying the historical facts but also in evoking an emotional understanding of their impact. Another level shifts the focus to the meaning of peace in the contemporary world. Here, visitors are encouraged to reflect on current conflicts and on the role each individual can play in the pursuit of a more peaceful society. Overall, the Museo de la Paz de Guernica is an exceptionally educational and moving museum that skillfully intertwines history and the present. It invites not only learning but also introspection and moral reflection—a place where memory becomes responsibility.
Aleks P — Google review
Really wanted to visit this museum. Impressive story, especially the first hand stories of survivors. Only downside of the museum is that all language next to objects is either Basque or Spanish so Google Translate is your friend.
Hugo S — Google review
We had come to Gernika especially to see the museum and were disappointed that the information in English was so poor. It did not translate the displays which were in Basque and Spanish only. There was a nice 10 minute e”experience “ in English about the bombing. We did not stay long as it was all too difficult to interpret. If you do not speak Spanish give it a miss! Pity as we had so enjoyed the Peace museum in Caen
Angela M — Google review
So pleased we visited this museum. The history of a much overlooked tragedy at the hands of Franco presented with first hand accounts of events. All this local information cleverly woven into a global history of peacemaking. I was given an English book to follow the exhibits and my husband used the QR code and headphones. It would have been good to have had all the exhibits presented in many languages but there were enough, along with the book/audio to follow the exhibits. Picasso's famous painting brought to life too. We left feeling hugely sad at what we had seen, especially with what is happening elsewhere in the world currently. The world needs more museums like this one.
Kathi H — Google review

Government Buildings
Gernikako Batzarretxea, also known as the Provincial Assembly House, is a significant historical site in Gernika. It has been the traditional meeting place for the towns of Bizkaia since ancient times. The assembly hall features a stunning stained-glass ceiling depicting the iconic Tree of Gernika. This tree holds great symbolic importance as it was where Spanish kings used to take oaths to respect Basque autonomy.
The history is probably what initially attracts people to visit but it's become a place well worth visiting in its own right The original devastation which let to Picasso's amazing painting has been replaced by a beautiful town.
VP - — Google review
The Maison des Juntes de Gernika is a remarkable place where history, culture, and tradition come together. Built in 1826 in an elegant neoclassical style, it has served both as a parliamentary seat and a symbolic heart of Basque identity. Inside, visitors can admire portraits of the Lords of Bizkaia, historic paintings, and an atmosphere that reflects centuries of local governance and pride. One of the highlights is the magnificent stained-glass ceiling, added in 1985, which depicts the Tree of Gernika, regional symbols, and important elements of Basque life. Just outside stands the famous Tree of Gernika itself, under which leaders once gathered to affirm the traditional laws of the land—a powerful reminder of unity and resilience. The building is beautifully maintained, free to visit, and offers a rich, immersive experience that leaves a lasting impression on anyone interested in history, architecture, or the unique spirit of the Basque Country.

This was a very beautiful place, especially the stained glass inside. It was interesting to learn a little about the Basque history as well. You should reserve a free entry online before going. We got lucky and there was space for us shortly after we arrived.

We live near Boise, ID and many people can trace their lineage to the Basque country. So we decided to visit and learn more about our ellow residents. The region spans mostly in Spain and a bit in France by the Pyrenees mountains. We loved visiting the area and especially Guernica where nobles came the be blessed as rulers under the oak tree.

For centuries, the municipality of Gernika has been the gathering place of the towns of Bizkaia . In the past, each church used to send its representative there to discuss the common problems of the Lordship of Bizkaia . Since the Middle Ages, these conferences were held next to the Arbola of Gernika and were called the General Assembly of Bizkaia . As time passed, several buildings were built around the Arbola in Gernika, and finally in 1828 the construction of the current Assembly Hall or Juntetxea began. 1876 _ were maintained until the year, in that year the laws that governed the way of life in Bizkaia , that is, the Charters, they were dismantled.

It's a beautiful historical place. The history, the paintings, and the murals are beautiful and fascinating. It's definitely worth a visit if you are in Guernica.

Beautiful and educational. Events/exhibitions are also held here sometimes. Meetings are still held in the meeting room once a month. Don’t forget to take pictures with the new and old tree of Gernika. As for the old tree, it is customary that visitors go around the tree clockwise.
