Saltstraumen, also known as Stuorstrávve, is a narrow strait situated in Bodø Municipality, Nordland county, Norway. It is renowned for hosting one of the most powerful tidal currents globally and is located approximately 10 km southeast of Bodø town. Saltstraumen Church

Church
Sights & Landmarks
The Saltstraumen Church, situated near the famous Salstraumen bridge, is a place worth visiting for those in the vicinity. It boasts of being located next to the world's strongest tidal current, where one can witness a variety of whirlpools during high tide. Although our schedule only allowed us to visit during low tide, we were still able to observe some whirlpools. While not particularly extraordinary, this church holds its own charm and offers visitors a pleasant experience.
(Translated by Google) The church was actually closed, but someone came to do something in the church and I was allowed inside for two minutes. It was too dark to really see anything. But the church was beautifully situated and close to the real 'salt streams', the place where the ebb and flow have to squeeze through a narrow passage. A kind of fast-flowing mountain river is created with whirlpools and rapids. It is beautiful to sit by the water, but also spectacular from the high bridge. You don't go to Saltstraumen for the church, but for the changing of the tides.

Beaches
Mjelle is a remote and pristine beach located about 15 km north of Bodo towards Kjerringoy. It's known for its small red granade stones in the sand, creating a unique and picturesque setting. The beach offers no facilities, so visitors are advised to bring their own supplies for the day.
A magical beach off the beaten track. This place should be visited if you are in Bodø: you are bound to spend the whole day in the summer. Make sure to bring your supplies and pack a picknic. This will easily become a favourite spot for many.
Damir A — Google review
A very peaceful and romantic place. Light sand, clear water. Almost no people — perfect for enjoying nature in solitude. You need to walk a bit to reach the beach, but that only adds to the atmosphere. A great spot for a walk, photos, and quiet relaxation. Especially beautiful at sunset. If you're near Bodø — be sure to visit. This is one of those beaches you’ll never forget.
Google review
It's not surprising that this beach is featured in songs and literature from the area. It is highly visited but still pristine. A bit off the beaten track for visitors to Bodø, but this is a bit of tamed wilderness worth seeing. This is fantastic remote beach Mjelle about 15 km out north of Bodø towards Kjerringøy. It's not really red but in parts it has a lot of small red granade stones in the sand. The beach has no facilities at all, so I needed to bring my suppleres for the day. Anyone can find nudity occurs here. However, there is normally more than enough space so no-one won't be bothered by other people. We need to find a spot and enjoy our day and maybe the night to see the midnight sun over Lofoten Islands.
SUHAS D — Google review
Always a nice view at Mjelle. Red sand, nice and clean ocean and just short hike to get to this nice scenery especially during summer and autumn. 😍

This is way better than I expected. One of my best hike ever! MUST DO! It is not hard and the views are insane.
Daniel O — Google review
Finkonnakken (518 meters above sea) is located in Bodø Kommune in Norway. On nice days one can see to Lofoten, Steigen, Kjerringøy, Steigtind, Festvåg, Mistfjorden from this point. Finnkonnakken is located in Sjunkhatten National Park in Bodø. This is a great little summit that suits most people, with the highest point. From the parking lot at Svartvatnet in the direction of Festvåg to the top of Finnkonnakken, it is about 4 kilometers to walk, which takes a little under an hour and a half with a quiet pace and some small rest breaks along the way. When we have reached the end of Finnkonnakken we will be rewarded with a spectacular view of fjords and mountains in all directions.

Cozy secondhand store with a cafe inside. They also had other local gifts, scented candles and handmade carved candles which was beautiful. I especially liked the candles that looked like chunks of glacier, it made me think of climate change and melting glaciers.. Enjoyed the visit in this store!
Madeleine A — Google review
Make sure that you stop here and visit. Here you can stroll around and see all kinds of stuff. It’s a combo with new stuff, crafting, local products and a huge second hand store in one. If you are a bit hungry or just want something sweet they have most to your liking. If you choose to eat here, try the very local møsbrømslefse. It’s a sort of thin bread with some sweet brown sauce with melted butter on.
Ronny M — Google review
Cozy café by the main road, close to the gas station and grocery store. Stop by for a cup of coffee and something to eat. I tried their cheesecakes, which are made in house, they were good. They also serve the local speciality "møsbrømlefse" which is a must try if you're a tourist. Other things to try as a tourist is a norwegian waffle with brown cheese, and sour cream + jam/jelly. The coffee was a bit weak, I wish it was stronger. The café also has a second hand store, you might find something interesting.
Tobias S — Google review
A mix of really old second hand stuff and new "fake vintage" stuff, for decoration purposes. We really enjoyed the genuinely old stuff. And it was cheap, too! The cafe was wonderful. Delightful cake and great Møsbrømlefse.

Had an amazing time at the Eivik Stables. Brought my 15 year old daughter never having been on a horse before. All the horses were cool and calm and we will never forget the Eivik family or the experience in one of the most stunning natural pearls in the North of Norway.

(Translated by Google) A place of trade from olden times. This was a trading post where boats came in from locally and from afar. Where there was accommodation, festivities and a merchant's place. Today, this is a large cultural heritage that has been restored, with a shop, exhibition and cafe. Kvæfjord boat association also has its premises there, where they restore old boats and show them off to the public. There they also have an outdoor school in boating, farming and fishing in the summer. Mountains
Stetind Mountain, located around 15 miles from Kjopsvik in Norway, is a picturesque and unique obelisk-shaped peak with smooth sides that make for a challenging climb. As Norway's national mountain, it stands out from the surrounding landscape and is a popular destination for hikers. The area around the mountain features a beautiful river and the Bautastein park, offering stunning natural scenery.
AMAZING hike!!! For people visting NOT wishing to climb, the lake at the end of the track is a magnificent stop for a lunch. The hike started from the parking lot right near the toilets and ran along the river, where you meet a beautiful little waterfall. You don’t have to climb the waterfall - there is a small track around it which goes into the Forrest. Beautiful walk close to the lake and in the birch forest. At the end it gets a bit steeper, which is also when the trees end and the rocky surface begins. It’s fairly easy to follow the track all the way to the beautiful azure blue lake. We had thought to go higher, as the sign at the parking place said, you could go almost to the top without climbing. NO! Just no! Some loose rocks and scramble is ok for us, but closing in on the top it’s flat, sheer near vertical rock which is dangerous to attempt without prober gear. We stayed around the rocks and took some amazing photos before heading down - which was still a bit of a challenge. In other words - absolutely a fantastic hike and worth a visit - even without going all the way to the top. And honestly - if you are not an experienced climber with the right gear - Don’t attempt the top.

Good hike with awesome views. Average hikers can make it to 1300m which is just before the last narrow rocky ridge to the Stetinden peak. Definitely worth doing.

(Translated by Google) Harstad Church is a great building, architecturally. Simple and strict form, modern, the architect was Jan Inge Hovig. Inside, too, it is a beautiful building, the light falls in in different ways as the sun takes its course. The stained glass windows are also great. The altar painting is monumental and in a simple form. We can wonder a little about the portrayal of Hans Egnede in Greenland as a missionary, where the Inuit gather around him to hear the good news. He was, after all, a missionary sent by the Danish superpower. This time I listened to the Army's music corps, which played Mussorgsky, among other things, pictures from an exhibition.

(Translated by Google) Harstad church is a church from 1958 in Harstad in Troms county. The church is centrally located a few hundred meters west of the city centre, close to the Harstad stadium. The church tower is a highly visible city landmark. The church is made of concrete and has 500 seats. The architect was Jan Inge Hovig. Harstad church is one of the first working churches built in Norway, and has a congregation hall, kitchen and church hall The triangular altarpiece painting shows Jesus giving the Sermon on the Mount, and the missionary Hans Egede speaking for people in Greenland. Egede was born in 1686 close to where Harstad church stands today. The picture was painted by Axel Revold. The church has two stained glass windows made by Jardar Lunde, one at the back of the nave and one on the north side of the choir. The stained glass in the choir shows the Trinity, while at the back of the church it should express "God's sevenfold grace". Kirken ligger sentralt plassert få hundre meter vest for sentrum, like ved Harstad stadion.

The bathroom was not it had piss all over the toilet and the ground please fix it + when I orded it took me about 30 minutes to get my food, the walls are too old and service was slow but the rest was nice I recommend to add a fun long slide. 3 ⭐️
Yonas A — Google review
Grottebadet is placed in an underground cave, what makes it special and different than other water parks. There are different pools to choose between in Grottebadet. For example the racing pool (which also has a 1, 3 and 5 meter jump), the hot pool, or the normal big pool with a big slide and waves. If you are hungry you can also buy food in the small restaurant which is placed next to the big pool. The prices are a little bit high, but that is normal. It is a great place to visit with your family at any day of the week.

Old pool, mold on the walls. Persistent smell of chlorine. This place needs major repairs. I do not recommend.

It is a unique place for swimming, man made cave like. I just hope they allow people to bring their own food since the cafe is too expensive and kinda unhealthy.

Very nice water park, a good way to both relax and having fun with friends or family! Watchout though, the closing time is 20.00 but they will take you out around 19.30 to do the cleanings. The staff anyway is very polite and nice and the location in an underground cave is very impressive!! If you go there late you can pay only the evening ticket which is around 95 nok.
