"The Dragon Head" This is where the famous wall ends at the sea. Most of this wall has been rebuilt but there are still some areas where they kept the original brick intact and protected. About 50rmb charge for the wall, beach side and areas around. Other activities cost a little extra but I didn't do them. Great place for taking pictures and lots of walking around. There is also a nice maze you can enjoy getting lost in. About 1.5hrs from Beijing or Tianjin on the bullet train. A day spent here should be enough.
Leo G — Google review
It's a great place to see the wisdom of building of histrionic Defence towers, walls and fortresses.
Tony C — Google review
Great to be able to see where the great wall meets the sea. Has shops and food stalls too. Expect it to be busy.
Paul T — Google review
The head of old dragon is the first gate of the Great Wall... about 20 minutes drive from Qinhuangdao (15 km) taxi will cost you about 45 RMB and the ticket 50 RMB, do not missed the first path of the Great Wall, recommend to take a jet ski to see the head of the old dragon from the sea side as well as to have a walk inside the park next to the monument. China and Greece are some of countries around the world with years of history

Nice place to visit
Syamantak S — Google review
Great site and scenic spot. Lots of good picture spots. Cheap entrance fee of 20 RMB as of 04/2019. The beach is beautiful and the breeze from the sea refreshing. The part of the wall is rather small but there is a reconstructed garrison and village. It's easy to get there by Bus 25 (have small change ready because it's only 2 RMB and the driver does not go be change) from the train station. In Apt l it was almost empty and really nice to explore so I cannot say what it is like when packed. Worth a day trip from Beijing.

(Translated by Google) I give this place full marks! Let’s talk about the ticket price first. It’s 100 for adults in peak season, half price for students, and only 25 in off-season! It can be said to be very conscientious, and the quality is also very high, especially in the wild animal area where there are many animals. There are about 6 or 7 of each type of lions, tigers, and bears. Unlike other zoos where the animals can't move. The animals here are very active, at least they are walking around. The lion rubbed against our cage car, and a tiger came over and lay on the railway track. The sika deer are free-range, so you can get close to them, and no one charges. I also I took a photo with the sika deer. The only thing that needs to be improved is the safety issue. The wolves seem to be free-range...really won't escape? The two iron gates in the beast area actually open and close at the same time? ? ? Then there is no point in building two doors! ! !

The admission cost to the Huangyaguan Great Wall Scenic Area Ticket Selling Hall is 65RMB, with a discount of half-price for individuals over the age of 60 who possess a passport. Accommodation nearby without meals costs approximately $30 per night. The Taipingzhai village can be reached via transportation provided by Li Bo Farmhouse for 15RMB per person.
Huangyaguan Great Wall is located in Jizhou District, Tianjin, China. It is a very nice Ming Dynasty Great Wall in China. The surrounding area has a nice scenic view covered by a green forest.
Charitha U — Google review
Very good experience from the great wall of China, in my opinion, much better than the mainstream one in Beijing. But also much more walking up and down hill, it's around 2.3 km. But really recommend to take the shuttle bus to the other side of the wall that is higher and start from there. The ticket to enter cost around 70 yuan and the shuttle bus 30 yuan per person. Very empty and very good to take good photos!
Rafael V — Google review
Two hour taxi from Tianjin, worth the long drive, 100RMB gets you entry plus a bus ride one way. Then a 2-3km walk back to the main visitor center. 40 degree day made the walk hard as there are a lot of uneven steps. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes for going up and down stairs. Water and refreshments are available to purchase along the walk.
Jason M — Google review
A definite must for any visitor to China. How can one miss out on a visit to one of the 7 wonders of the world? Plan and time your travels carefully to avoid the usual massive crowds of the Chinese public holidays. Coming on the off season as I've did, rewarded me the whole of Huang Ya Pass to myself this wonderful chilly (-5C) day. Allowing me to take in the sight as well as take photographs of such breath taking pictures in peace.
Matthew L — Google review
Never imagine before that I would be able to come to China and even visiting this Greatwall. It was an amazing experience, the view is stunning, the air is so fresh. From center of Tianjin, it took around 2 hours by car to here Huangyaguan. I recommend to come here in the early morning around 9am, It won't be so crowded at this hour. September or October is perfect to go here, not too cold. The wall is well maintained, the facility quite good and clean. Anyway, there is OYO here, quite surprised me.
Mute. T — Google review
Entrance fee is 65RMB, over 60years old half-price, need to show passport. We stayed at Li Bo Farmhouse and they offer transportation to Taipingzhai village for 15RMB each. Go early, we got there at 8am and even the vendors is not yet open. There were no one and you get the walls to yourself. The walk from Taipingzhai to Huangyaguan pass is easier than the other way round, mostly downhill, esp the last part, took us almost 5hours with a senior citizen in thr group. In town, there is shop selling Lanzhou ramen and it was good. Accomodation nearby about 30USD per night without meals. Very small town, 20mins walk from one end to another.

Tianjin Binhai Aircraft Carrier Theme Park is a large military amusement park in the Binhai New Area, featuring the retired aircraft carrier Kiev from the Russian navy. The park integrates marine military and Russian culture, offering water action shows, car shows, dance performances, and parades. Visitors can tour the aircraft carrier and explore a Russia-inspired town with various dining options.
The Chinese bought this Soviet aircraft carrier and used it for research and development before turning it into a hotel & tourist spot. You can find a fake Russian village nearby as a tourist trap
The W — Google review
I visited here 5 years ago. An old Soviet Air Craft Carrier is built as a museum, where you have chance to see how a giant ship look like. The Chinese government bought it for the purpose of building a museum, but they did not. They use it to duplicate a real warship, a real Aircraft carrier, Liaoning.
Memtimin A — Google review
Definitely worth visiting while in Tian Jin. I have never been on an aircraft carrier before, and the experience is priceless. Since it's a soviet carrier, you also find many russian themed tourist shops.
Ricky P — Google review
It's like Russia but in China! Good and entertaining water action show and the action car show with excellent performers. There are dance shows and a parade as well. The price of admission is about 220rmb(about 34 USD) per person. Some say it's a bit pricey but you get the water show, car show, dance show, a parade, the aircraft carrier tour and get to hang out in a nice Russia inspired town with lots of food to choose from. I think it's worth the trip if you happen to be in the TEDA/Tianjin area.
Leo G — Google review
I have never been on an Aircraft carrier before and this was amazing. Unfortunately they do not cater for non Chinese reading for their signage but this did not deminish the excitement of exploring such a huge vessel.
Allen C — Google review
My father served on this ship from 1984 to 1987, and seeing it again filled him with memories and pride. So much has changed over the years — parts are now closed or completely remodeled — yet walking its decks brought back the spirit of those times. It was truly a moving and unforgettable visit.

The 天津之眼 or Tianjin Eye is a 120-meter tall Ferris wheel located above the Hai River that glows with vibrant colors at night. A ticket for one trip costs around 70 Yuan, and the wheel rotates continuously at a slow speed, taking approximately 30 to 45 minutes for one round.
It's a huge Ferris wheel that looks amazing at night. However, I'd suggest avoiding it during holidays, otherwise you'll probably be facing thousands of people lol
Mimicbug — Google review
We did not try to ride the Ferris Wheel, but its view from the riverside is nice. There are also a lot other things you can do around the area: there are food stalls along the riverside; there is an artblock nearby; and an oldtown.
Ninya Q — Google review
It is a nice point in the city. The whole city has a daily light show till 2230, just enjoy the lights.
Faraaz A — Google review
Awsome experience The view at night is absolutely stunning, but for european tourists i highlight the information that the city light shows go off at around 21:00! The view is also amazing after this time. The queue for us was pretty long (1 hour) but it worth the waiting! You have to book tickets in advance! Recommend it for everyone!
Levente L — Google review
The Tianjin Eye is an engineering marvel. It is a 120-meter-tall Ferris wheel constructed atop the Yongle Bridge over the Haihe River, making it the only one of its kind in the world! A full rotation takes about 30 minutes in one of the 48 air-conditioned,, 8 seater capsules. The ride is truly magical after sunset. The wheel itself is illuminated with a dazzling light display, and TianJin below transforms into a sparkling tapestry of gold and neon. It's my favorite spot for photography.
David L — Google review
Very beautiful especially at night. It is supposed to be the biggest Ferris wheel over the bridge in the whole world. It costs $10 USD to take it. It moves slowly and you can see nearby landscapes once above. The waiting line is very short off season. The ride takes 45 minutes. It looks a lot nicer at night than during the day.
Really U — Google review
Huge Ferris wheel that is temperature controlled Not busy during the day
James B — Google review
I visited this giant wheel during my weekend trip to Tianjin. You have to buy a ticket costing 70 Yuan for one trip. The wheel keeps on rotating with slow speed all the time and you need to get in quickly. It takes around 30 to 45 mins for one round. The city view from the top of the wheel is spectacular. Overall design and location of this world's 4th largest wheel is a true masterpiece. The wheel design is like an inverted bicycle wheel. In the evening you can see a pink colored image of the giant wheel in the river from bridge when whole of the Tianjin is illuminated with luminaries.

While check-in procedures may be lengthy for foreigners, the location is convenient, just a 15-minute walk from the train station with plenty of dining options nearby. It's recommended to take a cruise to fully appreciate the beauty of this European-inspired destination.
5 stars service, each room provided all the essentials items like tea bags, water, the mini soap has rose petal, and the 2 in 1 (shower+shampoo) washing gel smelled nice. Con: Check in procedure was long for foreigner, they were not familiar with the passport thing. Pro: Clean and comfortable room. Great location, 15mins walk from the train station, many restaurants available downstairs. The tourist attraction known as Fifth Avenue is located in a city region boasting European-style architecture and luxurious homes. This district has a significant historical background with numerous old buildings converted into restaurants and living quarters, providing visitors with a nostalgic experience right at the core of an urban hub. The area offers peaceful strolls while enjoying various architectural designs, showcasing excellent examples of pre-war European homes.
This is a popular tourist attraction area in Tianjin, especially for the Chinese because many famous writers and politician , eunuch (xiao de chang) houses houses were here. There is also a popular horse driven carriage ride where the guide will point out the famous points. There is even a road here that used to be called Singapore street as pointed out by the guide! There were also a few good western restaurants here, we love the pizzas at Pizza Bianca! The main circular courtyard here is lovely and reminiscence of roman architectures and columns. Lots of locals spending their time here in weekends playing.

Where British settlers to Tianjin lived in the 1800s and left behind much original Euro-styled architecture mixed with unique Chinese elements such as houses built with stunning porcelain mixtures and Colosseum-like football stadiums. A foodie's paradise and where much of China's Western scenes are filmed as a result of rows upon rows of original European architecture. This is only one of the global ethnic settlements located in Tianjin.

The Tianjin Museum is a sleek building housing a large and diverse collection of Chinese artifacts and art, many of which are related to the city of Tianjin. It offers an in-depth look into the history of Tianjin, including its transformation into a cosmopolitan city and its past involvement in events such as the Opium Wars. The museum's unique architectural structure resembles that of a swan spreading its wings, adding to its allure.
Tianjin Museum is by far the largest museum of such kind in China. It is more than hundred years old as it started its journey in 1908. The museum is five storied, plus one basement. It has a cafetaria, as well as a nice souvenir shop. The middle area, where there is a staircase, is huge and gives a bold public character to the building. There is a huge courtyard in front of the museum. It now houses relucs, artworks, artifacts to show the rich culture, heritage and history of Tianjin region.

Some stunning ancient pottery and very interesting history of European trading in the late 1800s. You might want a translation app as many of the descriptions are in Chinese only, though some are in English too.

Mountains
Taishan Mountain, also known as Mount Tai, is a significant cultural and natural site listed as a World Heritage site. Despite not being the tallest mountain at 1545 meters, it holds great religious and historical importance. It's been revered by ancient emperors and is considered the foremost of China's Five Sacred Mountains. The Peach Blossom Ravine at its western foot is named after the abundance of peach trees found there.
A good place to visit for some scenic views. You also get a good workout with many steps to get to the top, even if you take the cable car.
Cher K — Google review
Great walk up 7000 steps. It got busy at the top, with lots of people huffing and puffing up the steep bit. Well worth a visit. Weekends and good days make it get very busy. So be grateful at the top when it gets steep and you too are huffing and puffing, whilst trying to impress your partner with your stamina, strength and fitness🤣
Mark T — Google review
During my recent trip to China, I had the opportunity to visit Taishan Mountain, one of the tallest and most significant mountains in the country. The journey to the top was both challenging and exhilarating. I started my ascent in the early hours of the morning, determined to reach the summit in time to witness the sunrise. The climb was steep and demanding, but the anticipation of the view kept me going. As I reached the peak, I was greeted with the most breathtaking view I have ever seen. The sun slowly rose over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the landscape. The sky was painted with vibrant hues of orange and pink, and the entire scene felt almost surreal. It was a moment of pure tranquility and awe. In addition to the stunning sunrise, Taishan Mountain is rich in cultural and historical significance. The pathways are lined with ancient inscriptions and temples, each telling a story of the mountain's past. I took my time exploring these sites, immersing myself in the history and spirituality of the place. Overall, my visit to Taishan Mountain was an unforgettable experience. The combination of natural beauty, physical challenge, and cultural richness made it a truly unique adventure. I highly recommend anyone traveling to China to include Taishan Mountain in their itinerary. Witnessing the sunrise from the summit is a memory that will stay with you forever.

This breathtaking shot captures a panoramic view from Mount Tai (Tai Shan), one of China's Five Great Mountains and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The scene is steeped in cultural, spiritual, and natural beauty.
Manish D — Google review
Mount Taishan is one of the five Sacred mountains in China. It is situated in Tai’an city, Shandong Province. It is worth to mention that this mount is in the UNESCO world heritage sites. This is one of the most climbed mountains. The legend says that all Kings of China have had climbed this mountain and prayed for the success to the God. The best time for climbing us Summer and spring. If you want to have a nice scenery, then avoid to climb the mount in winter and Autumn. During my first climbing I could see the mountain and the city all in fog which doesn’t happen often as the locals say and only the luckiest people can be witnesses of this beauty. Another best time to visit the mountain is any night in summer because in the morning you will find an amazing sunset view if the weather is nice and not rainy. You can climb by foot which will take about 4 hours if you take a bus to the starting point. You might also take a cable car to the top which is not operating at night. In case of climbing at night be ready to experience cold on the top. Prepare tent where you can sleep and have jackets with you.
Hasmik M — Google review

Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is a grand and ornately designed complex located in Nanjing, China. The mausoleum pays tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen, one of the founders of modern China. The site features a steep staircase leading to the impressive structure, which was developed between 1926 and 1929. The picturesque region symbolizes Dr. Sun Yat-sen's dedication to the Chinese people and their struggle for independence.
An awe-inspiring historical site! Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is a beautifully designed monument dedicated to the founding father of modern China. The architecture is grand, and the view from the top of the hill is stunning, with Nanjing spread out below. Great place to visit in nanjing. Tickets for foreignerd can be purchased at the tourist information center near KFC. Food stores are available before the entrance of mausoleum. The mausoleum is beautifully designed but picture taking is not allowed inside.

The Presidential Palace is a historic Baroque building that has been restored after World War II. The compound, which dates back over 600 years, features lush inner gardens and a blend of Chinese and European architecture. It played a significant role in the 20th century as the government headquarters for prominent figures such as Dr. Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek.
Historical office and halls where Sun Yat Sen and Chiang Kai Shek worked. Integral part of Nanjing history when it served as the capital of the Republic of China, after the end of the Qing Dynasty. Suggest allowing about 3 hours to walk around the compound, more if you plan to read everything. Would recommend booking tickets in advance, since they can sell out pretty quickly.

It is a famous tourist destination in Nanjing, so it is recommended as a must-visit place if you come to Nanjing. It would be nice to look around along the stream in the center, and if you didn't eat, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a leisurely meal at a restaurant adjacent to the stream and enjoy the atmosphere. Most of the shops around sell tourist products, so I didn't have any unusual experiences. There is also a tourist course where you can take a boat along the nearby stream, but I recommend taking it in the evening rather than during the day. The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders is a somber museum that commemorates the tragic events of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. This memorial was built to honor over 300,000 victims who were slaughtered during this dark period in history. The exhibits include artifacts from the era such as weapons, eyewitness testimony, and photographs, documenting the horrors of the massacre.
A deeply moving and powerful memorial. The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre is a solemn place that preserves an important part of history. The exhibits are well-presented, with photographs, personal accounts, and artifacts that provide a heartbreaking yet essential insight into the tragedy. The atmosphere is respectful and reflective, reminding visitors of the importance of peace and humanity. A must-visit for those who want to understand history and pay tribute to the victims.

The Nanjing Massacre is a historical event that is not as well-known in the West as the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany, and in my opinion, it tends to be overlooked. The Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall is a must-see when you are in Nanjing. The only downside is how crowded it can get, which can make it hard to fully immerse yourself in the exhibits as you follow the constant flow of people. Admission is free, but foreign visitors should remember to bring their passport, as it's required for entry.

A place to remember how cruel the war was, is probably the only place in China where you have thousands of visitors and yet the atmosphere remains heavy and silent. The hall exhibits why Japanese attacked China, the local life back then, how brutatlly thousands and thousands of Nanjing citizens were killed, how the local and foreigners survived in Nanjing, leaft the place with a heavy heart. Do book in advance on Wechat, the open slot easily get fill up.

Must visit this memorial hall if you are visiting Nanjing. No entry tickets needed but you need to make an online booking via WeChat - It can be tricky to make a reservation for foreigners. Alternatively, you can try walk-in and show your passports to the manual counter. We were allowed to enter without reservation.

A sad place to feel the miserable life of victims during invasion by Japanese soldiers in World War II. The war is cruel and the residents are innocent. It is a lesson learnt that peace is priceless and we should treasure the moments we have in peaceful time and don’t forget the pain the victims suffered during war.

The statues outside at the beginning are just grotesque. I get that's the point but I found them to be in poor taste in my opinion. However the inside is very well done and powerful, especially the first room with portraits of the victims. The museum emphasizes peace, which is good as it easily could have fallen into anti-Japanese fervor. I'm relieved to report it is a mostly objective museum about a very dark period of modern history. If we don't learn about the atrocities of the past, we're doomed to repeat them. Unfortunately these kind of atrocities are not confined to the past. Horrific events like the Nanjing Massacre are still happening today in places like Gaza, Darfur, Ukraine, etc. It is up to us to stop war crimes and genocides from continuing to happen.

The Memorial Hall is a must visit in Nanjing, but we were disappointed to learn that entry requires advance booking via WeChat—which isn’t accessible for international visitors without WeChat Pay. A heads-up for fellow travelers: arrange tickets beforehand or check alternative options to avoid missing out.

A must visit Museum when you visit Nanjing, a recent memory shared amongst the people in remembrance of atrocities committed to the people of Nanjing. As you walk in you can see the frames of most victims of the Nanjing Massacre and also those whom had survived and still live on with the memories. You need to book in advance (Free) but recommend to donate some money when you enter. *Foreigners will require a Passport to enter*. It is truly a sad place, the museum is very detailed with many monuments, pictures and archives exhibited for people to see. “remember history and cherish peace, so as to create a better future”
