Девичьи Слезы, Водопад

Nature & Parks
Waterfalls
Dewichye Slezy, or the "Maiden's Tears" waterfall, is a charming little gem nestled in nature. Standing at just under 2 meters tall, this picturesque waterfall can be accessed via a marked path leading to an enclosure where tickets are sold. The journey is quite scenic, with trucks often passing by for timber transport and cozy gazebos available for relaxation nearby.
Magic point! Best way to this waterfall through zoo
NOW G — Google review
(Translated by Google) To get to this waterfall (the height is less than 2 meters), you need to go to the enclosure, after which there is a booth where they sell tickets (the price was 80 hryvnia). The road is marked and driven by trucks (for timber transport), there are gazebos for relaxation. It's cool near the waterfall. It’s better to go in the morning, by the middle of the day there are a lot of people and they won’t let you take proper photos :) (Original)

(Translated by Google) The waterfall is of course so-so, but the story is beautiful. Another waterfall is connected with this story - men's tears. Both are in a typical oriental style, about love. Too many people and merchandising around (Original) Водопад конечно так себе, но история красивая. С этой историей связаны ещё один водопад – мужские слёзы. И тот и другой в типичного восточном стиле, про любовь. Слишком много народу и мерчандайзинга вокруг

(Translated by Google) A waterfall, if you can call it that) Water flows straight from the mountain. That is, the visa does not fall from the mountain, like an ordinary waterfall, but simply oozes from the rock. Many people here tie colored ribbons. Seems like luck. We were passing through on an excursion to Lake Ritsa. We stopped right on the road, walked up, took pictures, touched the rock and the water) on the other side of the road there is a narrow sidewalk, from which you can see the gorge and a stormy mountain river. We recommend visiting!

(Translated by Google) The nature is gorgeous, what can I say, the waterfall is small, it runs in a small stream from the mountains, beautiful, maybe when the weather changes I think there is a real waterfall there. You can change into a national costume and take a photo, which is what we did) the local people are very friendly and welcoming, delicious food, drinks and everything else. I recommend visiting this wonderful place. Ski resort "Dombai"

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
Ski & Snowboard Areas
Dombay is a wonderful destination for a family vacation. My son and I had a great time enjoying the picturesque mountain landscapes and various activities. We especially loved the cable car rides and sledding. Additionally, we took numerous photos with animals, which was a delightful addition to our trip. The fresh mountain air, combined with breathtaking views, made our experience even more enjoyable. For families with children, Dombay offers many interesting spots. We recommend visiting the Teberda Nature Reserve, where you can see a variety of animals and birds. It’s also worth visiting the Alibek Waterfall — the path to it is easy and suitable for children. In the village, there are several playgrounds and entertainment centers where your kids can have fun. Horseback riding is another great activity that allows you to explore the beautiful surroundings. You can also try snow tubing, which is an exciting and safe option for all ages. The locals are very hospitable and always ready to help. Cafes and restaurants offer delicious Caucasian cuisine that will appeal to both adults and children. We particularly enjoyed the freshly baked khachapuri, grilled meat, and aromatic herbal tea. The atmosphere in Dombay is warm and welcoming, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. If you’re planning a trip to this region, be sure to visit Dombay. This place will leave unforgettable impressions for the whole family. Whether you love adventure, nature, or simply want to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Dombay has something special for everyone.
Evgeny K — Google review
Dombai offers breathtaking views, fresh mountain air, and a true winter wonderland experience. The slopes are great for intermediate skiers, and the surrounding nature is simply magical - perfect for both skiing and scenic walks. The infrastructure isn’t as modern as in Europe, but that’s part of its charm. Lifts can be a bit outdated and queues are common during peak season, but the incredible beauty of the place more than makes up for it.
Ihar B — Google review
It's really good place
Ahmed A — Google review
January 2021. Not a lot of snow to ski, but this is not due to the service. The old lift is simply awful, slow and non convenient, and mostly, dangerous. The new one is ok, but definitely over crowded. To rent the skies is not hard, full of small places, missing an organized big one. 3 stars are only for the mountains, which are very beautiful. The rest, I suggest: with the same money, you can fly to Italy or France or Austria.

One of my favourite place in Russia I visited is Dombay. Very attractive nature. I visited in Summer, it was so nice. I enjoyed rain, snowfall and sunlight at the same day. It was really amazing experience I had about Russian nature.

Mt Elbrus

Mentioned on
+17 other lists
Mountain peak
Outdoor Activities
Mount Elbrus, located in the Greater Caucasus range, is Europe's highest peak at 5,642 meters. The mountain has two summits - the western peak at 5,642m and the eastern peak at 5,621m. It is known for its volcanic cone with upper slopes covered in ice up to 200 meters thick and numerous glaciers. The area also serves as a watershed for the Greater Caucasus region.
Its not a very long walk, but it is tiresome. You have the option to pay for transport quite far up which I highly reccomend, or else you have to walk some extra hours in the dark. I was extremly lucky with the weather and had a clear view on the top. It is a very easy walk, just tiresome because of the oxygen levels. It is at no places dangerous and at the steepest places there are some ropes and if you fall, well you fall in soft snow an mabye tumble around once or twice. No danger. What can happen is bad weather so just keep that in mind and pack some extra stuff. I had to pull over a down jacked on the top to keep warm because of the wind. And remember you dont want to take things off when its cold. Guide was very helpfull and I highly recommend a good guide. Also because of the drivers of the snow transports, they are like a mafia and its either good to talk Russian or have a Russian speaker with you.
Håvard ( — Google review
Highest peak of Europe. The photo was taken on my return flight from Europe to Japan. It has two iconic peaks, the eastern peak at 5621m and western peak at 5642m that is the top of European wide. It is stratovolcano and the symbolic center of the mountain belongs to Caucasus range.
石川伍右衛門 — Google review
Gorgeous mountain, one of the 7 summits. The views from the top are great too (when not in whiteout, of cause). The south side is a little spoiled by civilization (mostly skiing infrastructure) so only after 5300 m you start feeling truly in alone and a little detached from civilization. Still great experience, though!
Maxim S — Google review
Just an amazing experience! Thanks to the people like Anastasia and our climb leader(big boss) Andrej. He was a profesional at each moment of our tour. Perfect!
Ľubomír J — Google review
Beautiful mountain in the heart of Caucasus. Not a very technical climb at all. Not many people will be climbing it with you even during high season, so it's still quite enjoyable. Biggest problem during the climb will be that some of the tourists climbing with you will be taking the "shortcut" to the base camp (with ski lifts) and to the Summit (with snowcats). Not exactly the most nature oriented climb. But besides this, the views are amazing and the climb enjoyable. Because it's not so high in altitude, you should be doing quite ok on the altitude sickness side as long as you take the necessary time and listen to your body. We saw one tourist (from another group) having to be lifted down by a rescue team because he was already at severe altitude sickness levels. People are not careful enough and do not understand what that can cause to them. So be mindful!
Thibaut B — Google review
Very picturesque mountain from any point and location at Karachaevo-cherkessiya, Kabardino-balkariya or even Stavropol area, like pyatigorsk!

Spectacular mountain, barrel huts are a great place to stay, almost 2km of vertical is a big summit day from there but most people achieve it

Mençuna Konakları

Mentioned on
1 list
Hotel
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the stunning mountains of Arhavi, Mençuna Konakları offers a serene escape just moments away from the breathtaking Mençuna Waterfall. This natural wonder cascades nearly 100 meters and is particularly spectacular during the spring months when water flow peaks. Guests can enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi while soaking in panoramic views from the terrace or wandering through lush gardens.
The pictures don't do the waterfall credit really. It is a wonderful waterfall and a must see if you are in the area. The road is a bit tricky and can be daunting at times especially when there is another car returning back. We went in May so there was plenty of parking space available. You have to cross a foot bridge to get to the other side of the river. Then it's a long climb into the mountains. It's not easy and you have to be fit, definitely not for the elderly and kids may complain, but it' all worth it when you arrive at the waterfall. What a fantastic view.
Ilhan E — Google review
Cool setting and nice hike to the waterfall! It takes about 20 minutes (uphill), you can then swim underneath the waterfall. You should wear good shoes!
Verena G — Google review
Amazing waterfall views from the 2nd floor bunglow style house. Sleeping with the water and nature sounds felt so peaceful and amazing. Two bedrooms and a toilet/shower with balcony to enjoy drinks watching the river and the waterfall. We walked up to the top of the mountain where there is a small teashop ,totally worth the climb to enjoy the amazing views. There is a car park outside the hotel, owners were available 24/7 very friendly and helpful local people, beds were comfy, rooms sparkling clean, shower with hot and cold water , nearby vadi restaurant served homemade fresh local food. Overall this was such a great experience worth coming back for sure. If you love nature and want a peaceful retreat, look no further.
Sami O — Google review
Trekking was very hard and long. I don't suggest it for families and people from middle east.
Sinan S — Google review
One of the most beautiful waterfalls of Turkey with a dropping height of almost 100 meters. Water volume is at its peak during April, May although it is remarkable even in dry summer. Could reach after a walk of about 750 meters from where you park your vehicle at Kamilet Valley. Don't forget to have a bath in its small pool just under the falls and enjoy the real piping blodred Blacksea tea before and after your climb to Mençuna. Must see place if you are in the region. Don't miss it...
SADIK B — Google review
The place is understaffed. No electricity in the morning therefore no internet and no warm water. The host is rude. The room they gave us was a small cabin next to kitchen which was loud all night and so small that toilet is 1 meter away from bed. Best would be to stay in arahvi and visit the area as a day trip. This place is not worth the money.
Y45h — Google review
If you want virgin nature so you can stay here . Everything is good except the road but this nature needs that. I hope there will be no human work around here. Workers are friendly. Everything is great.

Gonio Fortress

Gonio-Apsaros Fortress, located in what was once Colchis, is a remarkable Roman fortification with a rich history tied to legends like Jason and the Argonauts. This unique example of Roman Byzantine military architecture features a rectangular layout with imposing high stone walls encompassing an area of 47,000 square meters and is adorned with 18 towers.
It’s an interesting place! There’s an archaeological site, so you can see people actually digging there. There isn’t a lot to see, but the atmosphere is really nice and worth a quick visit. Tickets are cheap — around 10 GEL.

Spectacular. Magical place. With old walls, extremely green grass and forested hills in the back you get a sensational experience. The whole area is quite big. Takes about 30-40 minutes to walk throught it.
Kamil — Google review
We were here 7 years ago and today we came back here with our children. My daughter studied the history of the Russian Empire at the English school and when we arrived in Batumi we went to show her Gonio. This is a unique place that everyone should visit. The territory is not big, but it has so much history. There is a very beautiful museum on the premises that can describe the history in detail. Here you can buy souvenirs, take a walk and there is a toilet. This year we also saw roses blooming - here is our own alley of different roses. There is a separate house in which clothes and tools of those times are presented. Admission is free for locals and 10 GEL for guests.
Snizhana S — Google review
Gonio Fortress is a lovely historical site worth visiting for anyone interested in history and ancient architecture. The fortress offers a glimpse into the past with its well-preserved ruins and small onsite museum displaying historical artifacts. It’s a pleasant place to walk through and explore. The staff at the entrance were friendly and welcoming, and the facilities, including the restrooms, were clean and well-maintained.
Shawa5y — Google review
The fortress in Gonio is probably not the most famous in the world, but it is very well preserved and visited. Just think, it is already two thousand years old! A ticket costs only 10 GEL. You can walk right along the preserved walls of the fortress. There is an archaeological museum, a souvenir shop, and the tomb of one of Christ's apostles, Matthias, on the grounds.
Drew E — Google review
Gonio Fortress is a cool ancient spot near Batumi with sturdy stone walls and pretty green areas. The statues and ruins, plus the possible Saint Matthias tomb, make it historically fun. I enjoyed the peaceful vibe and exploring!
Radhulakshmi P — Google review
Gonio Fortress is a fascinating historical site full of stories and charm. The ancient walls, towers, and peaceful garden inside make it a great place to walk around and imagine life centuries ago. The site is well-kept and surrounded by beautiful nature, with views of the mountains and the sea nearby. A must-visit if you’re in Batumi and love history or quiet, atmospheric places!
Rima B — Google review
Gonio, previously called Apsarus or Apsaros, is a Roman fortification 15 km south of Batumi, at the mouth of the Chorokhi river. Its name was connected with the myth of Medea and her brother Absyrtus. In the 2nd century AD it was a well-fortified Roman city within Colchis. The town was also known for its theatre and hippodrome. It later came under Byzantine influence. In addition, there was a short-lived Genoese trade factory at the site. In 1547, Gonio was taken by the Ottoman Empire, who held it until 1878, when, via the San-Stefano Treaty, Adjara became part of the Russian Empire. The grave of Saint Matthias, one of the twelve apostles, is believed to be inside the Gonio fortress. The location of the fortress, surrounded by lash green mountains, is amazingly beautiful and very picturesque.

Akhaltsikhe (Rabati) Castle, also known as Rabati, is a massive double-walled fortress complex dating back to the 9th century, with most structures built in the 12th century. The Georgian government invested heavily in its reconstruction in 2012. Situated at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, it's a major attraction dominating the landscape.
Fantastic place. Yes it had been renovated, maybe too nice, but it gives a good impression how it used to be. There is a part with free entrance where you can climb in the 2 towers and walk the walls. That is also where hoek and restaurants/cafes are. The Paris part is really really nice. So many things to see. It is really worth the money. Take some time though.

Nice castle, though there were little to no exhibitions. There is a small museum on the castles grounds, but it has separate tickets, so we didn't decide to go in.

Pretty cool castle complex. Lots of space, many different buildings to visit, and great views. Some free public spaces, but buying a ticket is worth it, especially if you have time and enjoy exploring. Although is a bit empty inside in regards to exhibitions, but pretty nice otherwise.

Rabati Castle is absolutely stunning — a mix of history, culture, and architecture all in one place. The complex combines a fortress, mosque, church, and museum, showing the diverse past of Georgia in one view. The stone walls, towers, and courtyards are beautifully preserved, and the views from the top are incredible. It’s one of those places where every corner is worth a photo. If you visit Akhaltsikhe, this is the highlight — especially around sunset when the castle lights up and the atmosphere feels magical. 🏰🌅🇬🇪

Rabati Castle was one of the highlights of our trip, and I would definitely recommend adding it to your itinerary if you’re in the region. What makes it special: • Breathtaking views: The castle sits on a hill with panoramic views of Akhaltsikhe and the surrounding landscape — truly spectacular. • Rich history: With centuries of layered history, from Ottoman to Georgian influences, it’s a fascinating place to explore. The museum, the mosque, the church, and the fortress walls all tell different stories. • Beautiful architecture: The restoration was tastefully done — a blend of medieval, Eastern, and modern elements. It’s a great place to walk around, take photos, and soak in the atmosphere. • Relaxed vibe: There are cute cafés and shaded spots where you can enjoy a coffee, lemonade, or snack while taking in the scenery. Worth planning ahead: We took a Bolt taxi from Borjomi (about a 40-minute drive), but discovered that Bolt doesn’t work there for the return trip. We were lucky to find a cab while walking toward the bus stop, but it could have been stressful — especially since we had another activity planned in the afternoon. There’s a public bus that comes about once an hour, but if you’re on a tight schedule, I recommend pre-arranging your return transportation.

Definitely worth 20 GEL to get the full experience. Beautiful interior views with many steep stairs to navigate. Did not partake of the optional extra audio guide.

Visited this castle as a part of a group tour to Georgia. It's an interesting monument with many architectural buildings located inside. The fountain was my favourite as it was also related to our guide whose grandfather was a part of the mechanical engineering of the fountain ⛲. Overall the place is beautiful for photography but we did not have much time to walk around the fortress walls. There is a restaurant and a hotel on the premises.

Akhaltsikhe (Rabati) Castle is a must-visit destination on your trip to Georgia. The architecture is truly stunning, blending historical charm with a modern touch. We spent around three hours exploring the castle and enjoyed lunch at a nearby restaurant. There’s a small entry fee, but it’s absolutely worth it for the experience and the breathtaking views.

Borjomi Central Park is a serene oasis nestled in lush evergreen forests, offering a refreshing escape from the summer heat. Visitors can relax on benches under ancient trees, explore playgrounds and rides with their kids, and savor the renowned Borjomi water from the mineral spring. The park features well-maintained gardens, walking paths, and various recreational facilities for picnics and leisurely strolls.
This establishment is known for being quite welcoming and suitable for families. The tickets are reasonably priced, and it offers continuous access, available around the clock. Complimentary carbonated water is provided under the blue dome. Additionally, there's a section where one can capture wonderful photographs while standing on the stones beside the river, though caution is advised due to potential slipperiness.

Beautiful, well maintained park with plenty to see and do inside. There is a small funfair for children, a zip line, waterfall, plenty of walks and points of collection for the famous borjomi water. Recommend visiting here if you are in the town, entrance fee is a couple of GEL per person.

A very active park, wich is nice. Combins nature- If you go further to the end of the new park- approximately one hour walk their are the sulfur pool!

Borjomi Central Park is a beautiful and peaceful place that truly captures the charm of this historic spa town. The park is clean, well-maintained, and surrounded by stunning nature. You can enjoy a relaxing walk along the river, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and even try the famous Borjomi mineral water straight from the spring. There are many attractions for both adults and children, including a small amusement area, rope park, and even a cable car that offers lovely views of the surrounding forest. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming — perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to unwind. In autumn, the colors of the trees are especially magical. It’s one of those places where you feel connected to nature and history at the same time. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Georgia!
Margo L — Google review
Nice nature place to check, it's probably the highlight of Borjomi, There plenty of views you also can drink the Borjomi original water for free or like people do take huge bottles with you to take away. Be careful from some of the restaurants on the way to the park they seem good but they are overpriced and the food is disgusting.
Alex B — Google review
This is a tourist park that charges a 5-lari entrance fee. However, the park is still under construction and currently offers very little apart from a pleasant view of a small waterfall. There is a children’s amusement area, but it too is unfinished. The road leading to the sulfur pools is muddy and unpaved, making it difficult to walk. Additionally, access to the pools — located about 3 km from the park, roughly a 45-minute walk — costs an extra 15 lari.

Vardzia

Ancient Ruins
Vardzia is a historic cave network in Georgia, known for its 12th-century monastery, frescoes, and halls. It was built by King Giorgi III and expanded into a cave monastery by his daughter, Queen Tamar. The site housed around 2000 monks and served as a spiritual bastion of Georgia and Christendom's eastern frontier.
Visiting Vardzia was an unforgettable experience! This incredible cave monastery complex carved into the cliffs is truly awe-inspiring. Walking through its tunnels and chambers, you can feel the weight of history and imagine life centuries ago. The location itself is breathtaking – dramatic cliffs, stunning views over the valley, and a deep sense of peace and mystery. I was amazed by the scale, the architecture, and the atmosphere. Vardzia is absolutely a must-see in Georgia – a magical place that leaves a lasting impression.

Very good place and well run. Just loads of hornets! I loved the natural springs giving drinking water. Also the bathrooms are very good. Bus is a must take in the heat!

A great experience visiting Vardzia! We took a day trip from Tbilisi. It stopped at a restaurant right across the cave city for lunch and then we went through with the tour. Very well organized, clean and well managed. Our guide was phenomenal (it does make a huge difference when you have a passionate guide!). It took us about 2 hours to go through the cave city with stops here and there. Some passages were steep and narrow so definitely not for the faint hearted. However, the city, the history, the view - it was absolutely beautiful! I would not miss Vardzia when visiting Georgia! Highly recommend!

Had a wonderful few hours walking around here as the say was coming to an end. Such an amazing setting. It's only 16GEL to get in and is well worth it. Be ready for the initial 15 min walk uphill before arriving at the complex. If you are tall, it can be tough on the back on exiting as the stairs go down a low tunnel

Absolutely stunning cave monastery carved into the mountainside. The scale and craftsmanship are incredible, and the views over the valley are breathtaking. A must-see in southern Georgia — one of the country’s true highlights.

Vardzia – April 2025 Group: 2 families (2+2 and 2+1), children ages 5–8 🌄 Experience Summary Visiting Vardzia in April 2025 was a truly memorable experience, even with occasional light showers. This cliffside cave city along the Kura River is unlike anything else, blending history, architecture, and adventure. Exploring the labyrinth of tunnels, rooms, and chapels felt like stepping into a different era, captivating both adults and children alike. The kids were fascinated by the hidden passageways, while the panoramic views of the river valley offered plenty of “wow” moments. Even in damp conditions, the paths were safe and manageable, making it an engaging and educational outing for families. Vardzia is a perfect spot for families, cultural travelers, or small groups seeking a hands-on historical adventure. ⭐ Highlights & Recommendations • Wander through the cave network to see how the monks lived and worked centuries ago. • Visit the Church of the Dormition to admire the centuries-old frescoes. • Pause at cliffside viewpoints for sweeping vistas of the Kura River valley. 📝 Tips for Visitors • Wear comfortable shoes with good grip—some steps and paths can be uneven or slippery. • Plan 2–3 hours to explore the site fully (we needed 3 hours), depending on how fast your children move. • Supervise children carefully near cliff edges and steep stairways. • Bring a light rain jacket if the forecast calls for showers; outdoor sections can get wet, though caves provide shelter. ⚠️ Constructive Feedback / Things to Improve • Narrow stairways and tunnels can be tricky for younger children, so assist where needed. Part of the exit tunnel can also be challenging for anyone with lower back discomfort. • Some signage could be more detailed or offered in multiple languages to enhance understanding.

Caves are a bit on the homogeneous side in that they all pretty much look the same. One notable exception is the interior church, complete with paintings of Queen Tamar and some interesting bells located outside. Lots of steep stairs to navigate, so folks with mobility issues will be challenged. Make sure to pay the extra 2 GEL for the optional van ride up the hill.

Kars Castle is a reconstructed 12th-century basalt fortress that includes a watchtower and the tomb of Jelal Baba. The city's rich cultural heritage is evident in its architectural landmarks, such as Kumbet Camii, an Armenian church turned mosque, and Fethiye Camii, a former Russian church with twin minarets.
An unforgettable experience. It may seem a bit steep but don’t hesitate to go up in the citadel. The scenery is breathtaking from there. The cafe inside the castle is closed for some time

This castle, built in 1152 by vizier Firuz Akay by the order of Sultan Melik İzzeddin during the Saltuklu Principality, is a monument not only made of stone and brick, but also bearing the traces of history and emotions. Here are my feelings and thoughts while wandering around this fascinating building: When I started to tour the castle step by step, I was impressed by the atmosphere of this place intertwined with history. The solidity of its stone walls symbolized the power of time and the durability of this masterpiece created by human hands. When I walked in, I felt like ghosts of the past. All the events that took place here, all the words spoken here were felt as living memories in the marks on the walls. This castle is not just a structure, but also a personality that has witnessed the lives of many people. Saltuklu Sultan Melik Izzeddin's idea of having this castle built was perhaps a reflection of the power and magnificence of his time. Timur's destruction, III. Reconstruction by order of Murad, destruction by Shah Abbas I of Iran and subsequent repairs; all these reflected people's devotion to this castle and its historical importance. While visiting the castle, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about the flow of history. All the events that took place here and the efforts spent to repair this castle help us understand the history of humanity. People fought, repaired and rebuilt to defend this castle. This castle represents the resilience and determination of humanity. Castle walls are a place where history speaks loudly. The coldness of the stones makes this structure, which has been the silent witness of centuries, even more impressive. Walking among these stones feels like a meeting with the past. It seems like there is a story under every stone, a period of time hidden behind every wall. This castle, like time itself, is a monument that bears the traces of past experiences, and witnessing this monument was a magical experience for me.

Wow wow wow!!! This is a must if you visit Kars. Allow 90 to 120 minutes to wander around. Take a camera and snap away. We visited in January 2022, and there was snow on the ground. There is a little tea shop at the top, but although it was open, we did not grab anything to drink/eat. It got really cold when the sun set. There are toilets available. All photos shown were taken on my phone.

Ani Ruins, located in Karsi, is a site steeped in ancient mystery and history. Once one of the largest cities with a population of 100 thousand people, it now stands as a beautiful but enigmatic place to explore. Visitors have reported tales of hauntings and strange creatures that have added an air of intrigue to the area.
Abandoned, bitter, mysterious, you are mesmerized by so many feelings while visiting this place. The ruins of Ani, where a river separates Turkey and Armenia, is one of the places you should see while you are alive. If you go in winter, dress warmly, it gets cold.
Adnan K — Google review
Ani is a very special place and being there was a very intimate experience of history and culture. I'd been to other live museums but this was my favourite. Well worth the trip.
Barbara M — Google review
Beautiful ruins, however it could be better looked after. Lot of litter and graffiti, presumably from visitors and the restoration workers. Support beam in one of the churches had fallen down. Considering the €8 entry, the information boards were pretty limited and appeared to minimise the Christian/Armenian heritage. The site is supported by the EU and UNESCO, so you’d expect it to be in better condition. Instead of completing the urgent structural repairs and site maintenance, they have prioritised converting one of the structures into a functional mosque. Still an amazing site and well worth a visit! 🇹🇷
Eva H — Google review
Amazing and extensive ruins with a deep history. The area is fairly large, and worth walking at length, particularly to see the Honents church, citadel, and area along the striking green river canyon that forms the border between Turkey and Armenia. A little bit more signage or maps would be helpful, particularly for a non-Turkish speakers. It was also unclear how the golf carts that take some tourists around work and there was no audio guide in English available. Some parts were under renovation. Still, worth exploring.
Kerry M — Google review
Unbelievably beautiful Armenian ruins where few visitors venture. Can see the Armenian border on the other side of the canyon. Truly special place.

It was very interesting. You can get nice views. We went in winter. It was interesting to see how different cultures and time frames left a mark in this area. It must have been quite the metropolis in its time.
Sofia H — Google review
Ani is one of the most incredible places I've ever visited. It's an ancient city with a rich and complex history that you can feel as you walk through the ruins. Often called "the City of 1001 Churches," Ani was a major capital of the Bagratid Armenian kingdom and a key stop on the Silk Road in the 10th and 11th centuries. It was a thriving city with a population of over 100,000 at its peak, and you can see that grandeur in the remains of its impressive churches, mosques, and city walls. It's a shame that for many years, stones from the city were sold off, so much of its former glory is gone. But it's great to see that restoration work has started in recent years, and they are working to repair the large structures that are still standing. What makes the site so special is not just the history, but the location. Ani is situated on a plateau, and on one side, there's a deep, dramatic canyon formed by the Arpaçay River, which separates Turkey and Armenia. The view is absolutely breathtaking, with the ruined buildings perched right on the edge of the gorge. Walking around and seeing the blend of nature and history is truly a magical experience. The stone carvings and architectural details on the remaining buildings are stunning. You can spend hours just looking at the craftsmanship. Despite being in ruins, Ani is a deeply moving and beautiful place that everyone should see. It's a powerful reminder of how civilizations rise and fall, and it's a window into a fascinating period of history.

Nestled in the stunning landscapes of Armenia, Haghpat Monastery Complex is a remarkable medieval site that dates back to the tenth century. This architectural gem showcases multiple structures, including an impressive church and a bell tower, all offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area. While it shares similarities with its nearby counterpart, Sanahin Monastery—just a short 30-minute drive away—Haghpat stands out as a must-visit landmark in its own right.
Visiting Haghpat Monastery was a truly fascinating experience. The architecture is stunning, rich in detail, and history. The Ropeway of Tsaghkadzor offers an exhilarating cable car ride with breathtaking views of lush green forests and vibrant wildflowers. The journey to the summit feels like a picturesque wonderland, providing a refreshing break from the heat in summer. While the customer service experience may vary, visitors can enjoy activities such as buggy rides at the top for an additional fee. The price for the cable car ride is around 10 USD per person round trip, offering stunning views of the cities below.
We visited Tsaghkadzor during the summer, and despite the heat, the breathtaking views and stunning natural scenery made it an unforgettable experience. The landscape was absolutely amazing.. perfect for photography lovers, with countless picture-perfect angles at every turn. We spent a lot of time exploring the area at the top while our ever-patient tour guide, Edgar, waited for us at the base. We also tried some delicious corn 🌽 from one of the small local vendors, which added to the authentic charm of the place. Although there were exciting activities like 4x4 rides available, we chose to simply enjoy the view, capture videos, and make the most of our time in nature. It must be even more magical in the winter, and we’d love to return when the mountains are blanketed in snow. For now, the summer beauty of Tsaghkadzor will remain a special memory.

Great view from the ropeway in November, I was surprised how busy it was considering there was no skiing. The price was cheap, there was no que to get on the lift and there is activities available at the top but we came straight back down as we just went for the view. As someone else said, it is honestly a waste of money. You just reach the top to find nothing except activities that require more spending like quad and horse riding. Not even anywhere to sit except a sad little cafe. To get a better enjoyment or nature I didn’t even take the ropeway back down and walked instead using what in winter is the ski track. Very steep for walking but nice views

What a wonderful telefric! Beautiful views of ski town! When at the top, you can even see Mount Ararat! Overall, glad we did it. They only let you get off at the first station. You can't go all the way to the top of the second station in the fall. At the first station, there are ATVs, very expensive! They are rude too... There are also horse rides... Not sure on horse ride prices... But the ATVs are very expensive.

Very special and old monastic complex in Tavush region in the middle of a forest. It is a place with peace and harmony with unique architectural style.

A well-maintained monastery complex which is still in operation. It's nicely situated in the forest of the Dilijan National Park. Parking can be slightly tricky on a busy day.

No words can fully describe the feeling of visiting Haghartsin Monastery. Surrounded by nature and history, the place carries a deep sense of respect and holy spirit that touches you the moment you arrive. We were blessed and fortunate to witness a ceremony dedicated to Mother Mary during our visit, which made the experience even more meaningful and unforgettable. The atmosphere was peaceful, spiritual, and filled with reverence. Haghartsin is not just a historical site — it is a place where faith, culture, and beauty come together. A must-visit for anyone who wishes to connect with Armenia’s spiritual heritage.

Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex in Yerevan is an architecturally significant building that serves as the official memorial to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The complex offers educational exhibits and guided tours, providing a powerful museum experience similar to Israel's Yad Vashem.
It's a very informative place which depicts the history of sufferings which Armenia population as gone through. Walking through the museum just felt like flashing through the history . It's a must visit place in Yerevan

A memorial capturing the blood soaked history of genocide, a painful experience to know that such a colossal brutalities were committed on innocent people by fanatic ottoman empire

Sad, grim and sobering experience understanding the background of the Armenian Genocide. Hope that no other race will ever go through the atrocities undergone by the Armenian people. One event like that is one too many. The guide gave a detailed tour of the museum

Monument under construction but still good. I hope they add to the museum given the magnitude of the atrocity. Free admission to enter. Donations excepted.

Makes me humble visiting places like this but today was particularly special because of Genocide Memorial Day in Armenia and beyond its confines. Well worked out one way system for visitors to get in, to the eternal flame and then out again without any need for pushing and shoving. Everything remained calm and peaceful. A very powerful experience.

What a tribute to the people who sacrificed their life to country's sake? Indeed a nice monument. The guide here are really passionate about their job, explain the history beautifully. My eyes were wet after hearing the cruel act of Turkey's towards Armenian. This is a must visit place and pray for departed soul.

One of the best historical museum. The memorial complex is very nice, well designed and so peaceful. The museum is very well organized and informative. You can get a guided tour but i prefer to do it myself so i can read all info and go through details. I highly advised you to check the museum once there.

It was good to preserve history , but I think there is over statement of enmity with Turkish people. This will create barriers to build future trust and cooperation.

The Cascade Complex in Yerevan is a must-see for those interested in modern and contemporary art. It features a cascading series of stairs, landscaped gardens, fountains, and sculptures. The complex is home to an arts center and houses several museums, including the impressive Swarovski Museum. The unfinished Cascade is a recognizable landmark that connects downtown Yerevan with Victory Park and residential areas beyond the park.
This is really amazing being a fantastic stairway. It has multiple levels with really interesting terraces and outdoor gardens combined with fountains sculptures and various displays and also we can see the city from each levels. The wonderful views over the city is amazing and when we are coming down a good area to relax and plenty of restaurant's.

During our stay in Jerevan, we visited this place several times, and we really liked it. As a Colombian, it was a surprise to find three Fernando Botero sculptures on the lower floor, which nourished my soul. We really enjoyed Fromm the ground floor, each level rising to the obelisk at the top of this monument. We really enjoyed climbing the more than 700 steps to get there. I would definitely return. It would be nice to find the intermediate section, which is under construction, finished upon returning. It also has escalators for people who can't walk up. very nice view of Mount Ararat from here.
Félix C — Google review
Really a must go when u visit Yerevan, great design in terms of sculpture and architecture. Also incomparable view over the city. If you don’t want to climb all the stairs you can take the lift on the left then walk your way down each level, but even to me who absolutely don’t have enough exercise the stairs don’t seem too much. Highly recommend to visit during sunrise or sunset, it’s an eye treat to see how lighting (or the absence of it) affects how the cascade looks. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and there weren’t too many ppl Free entry with additional bonus of a few stray dogs taking walks and enjoying sunset
T Z — Google review
The Cascade Complex is absolutely one of the must-see places in Yerevan. The design is impressive — a massive stairway that blends architecture, art, and open space in a way that makes the whole area feel alive. Every level has sculptures, fountains, or unique installations, so the climb never gets boring. The view from the top is spectacular, especially during sunset, when the city lights start to appear and you can see all the way toward Mount Ararat on a clear day. It’s also one of the safest and cleanest public areas in Yerevan, making it perfect for photos, a relaxing walk, or just sitting and enjoying the vibe. The Cafesjian Center for the Arts inside the complex is a great bonus — modern, well-curated, and surprisingly peaceful despite how busy the outside area can be. The whole place feels like a mix of culture, urban energy, and art. Whether you come during the day or at night, the Cascade is a beautiful experience and one of the best places to truly feel the spirit of Yerevan. Highly recommended!

It looks impressive from afar and it is the smae when you get near it. Did not had the lick to have clear skies for seeing Ararat (from what we've heard, there's rarely any chance in August for this) but the whole experience was nice. The area is full with caffees and restaurants anyway (in the plaza before climbing) and it is really beautiful there - including the area of the quirky statues 😉. Really nice area to visit and hang out at any point of the day. A visit to the art's centre is recommended as well.
Stelios A — Google review
Very beautiful part of the city, especially on sunny days. There is a nice little park with flowers and art, a beautiful and peaceful vibe, a lot of couples and friendly people. You should definitely visit it. Take the escalator up and walk the stairs down. From there, take a walk into the beautiful city center.
F G — Google review
Breath taking! Beautiful! Elegant! Timeless. The fountains on the bottom around 30 feet deep, you'd never know unless you went down the steps! Incredible! Walk all the steps up, count how many! Each level has different design fountains! There are even some hidden steps too, keep your eyes out and take them :) Wonderful view of Mount Ararat, Yerevan, during the day. Evening time, beautiful sunset! There is an escalator that takes you all the way up if you don't want to walk all the steps. Don't step on the grass, they don't like it.
Cost — Google review
Lovely place to watch the sunset. Take the escalators up - it’s free and takes a bit of time if you’re spending time with the artwork. Took the stairs down - enjoyed the people watching and do it at your own pace.

In the vibrant city of Yerevan, Armenia, there's a wealth of cultural and historical attractions to explore. One must-visit destination is Matenadaran, also known as the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts. This renowned repository houses an impressive collection of rare manuscripts, parchments, and books.
Definitely visit for a unique museum! The entrance and building is very cool and their collection of manuscripts is amazing! Many old and biblical texts in addition to others such as political documents, medical texts, etc. They accepted our international university ID cards and gave us the student discount (each student ticket costs 300).

A unique museum presenting an interesting collection of manuscripts from various the Middle Ages onwards. They are all very pretty, and the only downside is the small size of the museum.
Matthew U — Google review
What a powerful place. Seeing 2000-year-old manuscripts up close is just an incredible experience. The collection is vast and includes texts from many different countries. We had a great guide who made the whole visit super interesting and easy to understand. If you're into history, you can't miss this.

Amazing old Bibles!! Wonderful place Very great lay out. Bibles are explained in four languages so you can read and understand. The staff will answer questions if you ask them, so that's also nice. You can take pictures without flash.

I did not know what to expect from this museum, but I certainly did not expect to be so deeply...moved by its collection. The minuscule details, the amount of time, work, attention, precision, and talent that went into producing those illuminations and miniatures simply blew me away. A must see in Yerevan.
Marta T — Google review
It has a great collection of manuscripts on display. However it's a shame that it doesn't let people take photos or videos. And the fit shop section was closed during our visit on a Friday early afternoon and we couldn't buy anything though we wanted to. There were many people working though.

Republic Square, formerly known as Lenin Square, is a grand city square in Yerevan. It is a popular venue for public events and celebrations. The square features colorful and singing fountains that operate from mid-spring to fall, creating a vibrant atmosphere from 9 pm to 11:30 pm. Designed by neoclassical architect Alexander Tamanian, the square holds historical significance as it was originally named after Soviet leader Lenin and housed a statue of him until 1991.
Excellent environment at the Republic square. Mostly Families, friends are gathering from 8PM onwards. Colorful water fountain show will start from 9PM. No much rush. It's large area, so you can stay peaceful. So many shops, restaurants near that area. And also you can enjoy some music & singer street performers near that area. Police always be there. So place is well secured. We enjoyed with our kids. Highly recommend to visit Republic square at the weekend. So when you schedule the trip to Armenia, add this place also and visit by Saturday or Sunday. Nice people and peaceful environment.

I spent a magical evening at Republic Square in Yerevan, and I couldn’t help coming away with a big smile. By daylight the square is stunningwith its warm pink and yellow tuff‑stone buildings and that sense of history all around. I wandered around, took lots of pictures (perhaps too many), found a café to sit and just watch people stroll by, and felt utterly contentjust being there in that moment. If you’re after an experience that blends architecture, atmosphere, and a little bit of magic, this place really delivers.

Republic Square is a must-visit spot in Yerevan. It’s the main square of the city and full of energy. The architecture is beautiful, especially at night when the buildings are lit up. The musical fountains are a big highlight, fun to watch and perfect for families or couples. There are lots of cafes, museums, and shops around. It’s also a great place to take photos or just relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Yerevan!

Republic Square in Yerevan is a place unlike any other. It has a unique atmosphere—warm, lively, and almost magical. Especially during the Christmas season, the entire square transforms into something truly enchanting. The lights, the music, the energy of the people — everything creates a festive feeling you can’t forget. I highly recommend visiting Yerevan during Christmas time and spending an evening at Republic Square. Walk around, feel the atmosphere, and see how the city comes alive. These are the moments that stay with you. Republic Square is one of those places where beauty is felt not only with your eyes but also with your heart.
Artyom T — Google review
Watching the fountain show in Yerevan was truly amazing. From the moment it started, the water, lights, and music came together in a way that felt magical. The fountains danced in perfect rhythm with the songs, shooting high into the air and then falling gracefully, all lit up with beautiful colors. It was like watching a live performance, but with water as the main star. What I loved most was how the atmosphere brought people together. Families, couples, and tourists all gathered around the square, smiling and enjoying the show. The music was a mix of classical and modern tunes, which made it even more fun because there was something for everyone. Each song felt like a different story told through the movement of the water and the play of lights. The best part is that it’s completely free, making it one of the most enjoyable and accessible experiences in the city. Sitting there and watching the fountains, with the warm evening air and the lively crowd, felt unforgettable. Overall, the fountain show was a highlight of my trip—beautiful, entertaining, and filled with energy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Yerevan.

Ishak Pasha Palace

Mentioned on

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Historical place
The Ishak Pasha Palace is a 17th-century castle located on a small plateau below steep cliffs, approximately 6km southeast of town. The palace is an exquisite example of Ottoman, Seljuk, Georgian, Persian and Armenian architectural styles. Constructed between 1685 and 1784 by an Ottoman general named Ishak Pasa, the castle features dungeons, harems and a mosque.
Ishak Pasha Palace is a 17th century creation, built by a family of Kurdish Ottoman pashas. The palace is built 2000m up on the hills overlooking Dogubeyazit and next to the castle of the same name. Entry was 150TL (don't be fooled by the prices in Euros, they aren't accepted here!) and was a real bargain. The parking area is just above the palace and both large and free. We drove to the site from Van and it was an easy drive, interrupted only by military checkpoints with very polite soldiers. There was some beautiful stonework inside the heavily restored building (damaged by earthquakes, Russian artillery and subsequent looting of the stone) and lots of information in English and the views were naturally spectacular. We spent maybe an hour inside before walking a little further up the hill to a café where we had baklava and tea and enjoyed the view, looking down on the palace and town. Nat was traumatised again by the toilets so I crossed my legs and waited. It seemed that there is no concept of litter collection outside the towns and the roads and rest areas all had an unhealthy dose of human detritus around them.
Marcus H — Google review
Nice palace to visit what they built for 100 years. The roof part is replaced by modern glass and metal structure assume to prevent further damage to the original structure. Gave 4 star as they could furnish some of the rooms with restructured furnitures and wax figures to increase the experience. Optionally 3D view with own mobile phone could work too. Surprisingly you can't see the Ararat from the palace. All in all its worth a visit.
Familia C — Google review
Beautiful place worthy to go inside and enjoy ancient architecture. Curds palace the town per se is great to enjoy their culture
Marlis H — Google review
If you're in the area, you absolutely have to visit Ishak Pasha Palace. The palace is in an incredible location, built right into the side of a mountain, which gives it a truly dramatic and impressive feel. What really stands out is the beautiful stonework. It's a fantastic example of the region's long history of stone craftsmanship. The details are just amazing, with so many different patterns and carvings everywhere you look. It's a place that's not only beautiful but also makes you feel like you've stepped back in time.
Zerdesh R — Google review
This is a must see! One of the best sights in the region. The palace is very well preserved. The parking is easy. The tickets are easy to get at the entrance without waiting time. The view is exceptional. Keep in mind: The palace is in the mountains (1950 meters high) and it will be windy - so, I advise to take a jacket and a scarf (especially in winter and spring).
Richard S — Google review
impressive building in the middle of nowhere! Mostly well restored and explained by many signs. Well wort a visit!
Andreas M — Google review
A beautiful place to spend an hour wandering around and admiring the view.

This palace is really worth the visit if you are around. 150TL entrance fee that is definitely worth it. The scenery is amazing, the palace is well maintained. Not too crowded so you have the place basically to yourself for a few minutes, that gives you enough time to take your pictures. Free parking just in front.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Sevanavank is a well-known 9th-century monastery located on a peninsula in Sevan Lake, about 12km from the town of Sevan. Originally built on an island, changes in water levels have transformed it into a peninsula with picturesque views. Visitors can climb around 250 paved steps to reach the complex and enjoy panoramic views of the lake. It's advisable to bring warm clothing due to windy conditions and lower temperatures compared to Yerevan.
A visit to Lake Sevan is a must when in Armenia! The view from Sevanavank Monastery is absolutely breathtaking. Situated on a hill overlooking the vast lake, the church and its surroundings offer a perfect mix of culture, history, and nature. Climbing the stairs uphill is worth every step for the panoramic views of the mountains some of which still had a touch of snow, even in summer! The air is crisp, cooler than in most parts of the country, making the experience even more refreshing. The locals are warm and friendly, and we enjoyed trying some delicious local street food sold near the area. It was a peaceful, scenic, and culturally enriching stop on our trip. Highly recommended for nature lovers and cultural explorers alike!

Nicely situated on one end of the ridge of the peninsula, overlooking the village below and the lake on either side. The churches are nice, but don't stand out compared to others in Armenia or Georgia.

Very busy but free to enter. Make sure to take your hat off and cover yourself as a woman. Small area and crowded on the weekends. Many places to relax and enjoy the view at the top of the hill.

Sevanavank Monastery is a nice place to visit, especially for the view of Lake Sevan. The steps up are a bit steep but manageable, and the area is clean and well maintained. There are several small shops near the entrance selling paintings, local crafts, and souvenirs at reasonable prices. You can also see a few artists painting outdoors, which gives the place a lively feel. Overall, it’s a good stop if you’re in the Sevan area, easy to reach, plenty of parking, and a great spot for photos.

Just a beautiful viewpoint with some amazing history. Walk the 500ish steps to the top for amazing views of lake Sevan, explore the ruins of the accommodation and the surrounding buildings. The monastery itself is beautiful with cross stones from the area held in the gavit (effectively the atrium). See the beautiful and historical buildings as you walk around what is now a peninsula (the monastery used to be an island). Definitely worth the visit

Garni Temple, located about 30 km from Yerevan, is a well-preserved ancient structure dating back to 77 AD. It stands as the only remaining Greek-Romanian colonnaded building in Armenia and post-Soviet countries. Despite undergoing extensive restoration work, the temple still offers an intriguing glimpse into pre-Christian Armenia's cultural heritage. Visitors can explore the site's historical significance and architectural marvel while enjoying the scenic surroundings.
A magnificent structure location amidst the mountains. Had a great time walking around the complex and getting to know more about the place. If coming to Armenia, Garni Temple is a must visit. We found it to be one of the best places that we saw in the country. The entrance fee was 1500 dram each, but it was worth it. Surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery, the Garni Temple sits in the middle- a magnificent structure. The landscape around is wonderful, unable to capture with a camera. There are many tourists coming with a tour group, so it can get quite busy. We had a pleasant experience by walking around the complex, our guide giving us 30 minutes to explore.

The Khor Virap Monastery, originally built in 301 AD and reconstructed in 642 AD, is a storied religious site and a popular Christian pilgrimage destination. Its name translates to "deep dungeon" due to the famous pit on its grounds where Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 13 years. The monastery offers expansive views of Mount Ararat, making it an ideal spot for capturing stunning photographs.
A beautiful and peaceful place, absolutely a must-visit when in Armenia. It’s best to come while heading toward Mount Ararat to enjoy the full view. If the weather is clear, you will be incredibly lucky — the sight is breathtaking. Highly recommended for anyone traveling in the region!

Incredible, a must visit when in Yerevan. It’s about an hour drive away the monastery is worth while and you get an amazing backdrop of Mount Ararat where it is said that Noah’s ark came to rest after the flood. Note; you can’t go to the mountain from Armenia as it is on the other side of the border in Turkey

A small monastery at the foot of Ararat. Famous for the underground dungeon of Gregory the Illuminator. The view of the mountain is stunning, if not in the fog. Not far from Yerevan. There are a lot of tourists, it is better to come as early as possible.

We couldn't visit the deep pit where Gregory the Illuminator was hiding due to the tens of people who were gathered there, waiting to enter. It would be good if there was some organization. Other than that the place is worth the visit especially for the view of Ararat.

Nestled in a picturesque canyon, Geghard Monastery is a medieval marvel partially carved into the mountainside. This World Heritage-listed site, named after the holy lance that pierced Christ's side, boasts a history dating back to the 4th century and features an oldest surviving chapel from the 12th century. The atmospheric Surp Astvatsatsin Church, built in 1215 with intricate carvings, and its adjoining gavit add to the monastery's allure.
Beautiful monastery carved in the neighboring cliffs. A rare sight indeed! One of the cave churches also had a few people singing traditional church music, which was great to hear.

Absolutely breathtaking place! The Geghard Monastery is partly carved into the rock and surrounded by dramatic cliffs — it feels both ancient and sacred. You can feel the silence and coolness of the stone halls, even when many visitors are around. A must-see in Armenia — spiritual, peaceful, and unforgettable.

I visited this church in May. Geghard Church is located in a mountainous and lush area, with an open courtyard and surrounding nature that create a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. The church building is simple, and the main halls provide enough space for visitors. Inside, there are some small rooms that are dark and somewhat eerie, but they can be interesting for those who appreciate historical sites. The walking paths around the church are easy and enjoyable, and the fresh air makes the visit relaxing.

Lake Sevan is a stunning freshwater lake in Armenia, covering 5% of the country. It offers sandy beaches, a medieval monastery, and various outdoor recreational activities. While it can be busy in the summer, it's worth visiting for its beauty. The high altitude means that temperatures are not ideal for swimming, but the picturesque views make up for it. Visitors recommend planning to spend more time there to truly relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Lake Sevan is a beautiful and peaceful spot in Armenia, perfect for a summer escape with its clear waters and mountain views. The Sevanavank Monastery adds charm, though it can get crowded and facilities are basic.

It was nice trip from Yerevan to the lake. The most beautiful thing is the scenery and the walking around. Some good restaurant on the edge of the lake. I had great lunch of trout fish, fresh salads, and fresh bread. The other cofes or shops around the lake are not that good, neither the service. Some hotel if you decide to stay overnight. Unfortunately no good toilet for visitors.

A large and beautiful lake, we camped and slept for seven nights in different places around this lake, there are very good and free places to pitch tents but there are no facilities and you have to bring the necessary equipment with you. The height here is higher than Yerevan and also because of the lake it is a good option for camping in the warm seasons.

Beautiful place to visit, lake is clean, atmosphere is fresh. There are locals selling different unique gifts and some local nibbles. There are also restaurants in the area as well. Worth the visit

One of the most iconic and beautiful places in Armenia! Lake Sevan is breathtaking — the vast blue water surrounded by mountains is a sight you won’t forget. It’s a great place to relax, swim in summer, or enjoy fresh local fish from the lakeside restaurants. Sevanavank Monastery on the hill offers stunning panoramic views and a touch of history. Whether you’re into nature, culture, or just a peaceful escape, Lake Sevan has something for everyone. A must-see when visiting Armenia!

Nestled in the stunning Vayots Dzor region, Noravank Monastery is a captivating 13th-century site that showcases remarkable medieval cantilever architecture. Perched on a ledge overlooking a deep gorge formed by the Arpa River, this monastery is surrounded by striking brick-red cliffs that create an awe-inspiring backdrop.
An incredibly beautiful place — peaceful, scenic, and extremely photogenic. The road leading to Noravank is a dream for those who love winding mountain roads, passing through a stunning gorge. There are few people, the atmosphere is calm, and the views are breathtaking. A must-visit destination when traveling in Armenia!

A beautiful monastery among red rocks, especially beautiful at sunset. The main feature is a two-story church with a steep staircase, where everyone climbs for photos. But now you can't climb the stairs. The road is mountainous, the views are beautiful.

This sits on top of my heart for all the things we visited in Armenia. It is the nature, the green and red mountain slopes that surround the monastery. The view from the top was splendid!

Noravank should be on top of your list when visiting Armenia. The setting, surrounded by beautiful mountains, colorful and still, the atmosphere of the monastery perched on a cliff up above it - it is absolutely mesmerizing! Weekends see a lot of people and school kids, so plan accordingly. Other than your religious fulfillment, there are a ton of photo ops that will make your eye pause... A must visit!

Noravank is absolutely stunning! The church complex is beautifully preserved and set against breathtaking red cliffs. The road leading there is just as impressive—winding through a dramatic canyon with amazing views the whole way. A peaceful and unforgettable place to visit!

Location: Amaghu River gorge, near Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor Province, Armenia. Founded: 12th century, flourished mainly during the 13th–14th centuries. Landscape: Surrounded by dramatic red cliffs, making it one of the most picturesque monasteries in Armenia.

Located high in the mountains, give an incredible view from above. Definitly you want a tour guide, as there is so much history and meaning behind..top view is amazing 🤩 structure is also different..its far from city so u need a private car 🚗 with a guide..
UMI S — Google review
The Noravank site is our favourite of all these spiritual sites in Armenia. It might not have the same historical importance as others do. But the location as such is the most pristine. Already the access road leading through the gorge is pretty impressive. The site itself, slightly up the slope at the end of the valley, surrounded by the red rocks of the surrounding hills, is impressive.

Jermuk Waterfall, located in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia, is a popular tourist spot known for its breathtaking scenery and refreshing waters. The waterfall consists of two cascades, with the upper cascade standing at 56 meters and the lower one at 25 meters, making it a total height of 81 meters. Visitors can capture stunning photos from a special area near the waterfall or from a bridge that offers picturesque views.
Good place to spend some time. There are local guys selling some stuff. Before reaching the waterfall, you have to pass by one facility where there are a lot of stinky dogs, which barks and jumps on the fence, so keep this in mind. Good luck with taking a good photo. There is always at least one guy standing on the rock behind and ruining everyone's pictures.

I adore the highest falls in Armenia. A great place to visit during summer and autumn. There are no huge crowd who visit the falls.

Really lovely experience… deep within the gorge in Jermuk you will find this stunning 35 metre waterfall. There is a lovely walkway also where you can enjoy the stream below

The "Mermaid's Hair" waterfall's mineral-rich waters stay at 38°C year-round. Locals swear drinking from the upper springs helps digestion (the sulfur smell takes getting used to). Don't miss the Soviet-era drinking pavilion with its ornate faucets dispensing different mineral compositions.

Nestled in the breathtaking Tatev Mountains, Tatev Monastery is an ancient Apostolic monastery complex featuring three churches perched on a cliff with panoramic views of the Vorotan Gorge. Visitors can embark on an unforgettable journey through rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. The Wings of Tatev, the world's longest reversible cableway, offers a thrilling ride over the mountains, while hiking trails provide opportunities to explore diverse flora and fauna.
It is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Armenia that you should definitely visit. It is on the way from the Iranian border to Yerevan, and that is why most Iranian travelers visit it... The area is also beautiful and there are other attractions nearby, including restaurants, cafes, and the charming Tatev cable car.
Babak M — Google review
It’s ok, nothing special. It’s a bit of a tourist trap to be honest. I can’t believe people travel all the way from Yerevan to see the monastery. It’s nice to see that the local people have restored the building.
James G — Google review
An impressive, larger than expected, monastery that is still a functional church. There are so many old, "broken" rooms and passages to explore. Careful on the edges of the cliff as safety barriers etc. are not good. The Wings of Tatev ropeway is also an amazing way to reach this monastery in the sky...Church of Saints Paul and Peter , Tatev’s name comes from the phrase ‘Ta Tev’ meaning ‘Give wings’ – fitting for a monastery perched above the clouds.”

It was absolutely worth the long drive from Georgia. One of the most beautiful monasteries I have seen in my life. It’s a must-see for anyone who visits Armenia. Near the entrance there is a fascinating small museum dedicated to oil pressing processes that were developed in the monastery. In front of the temple, local women sell souvenirs and home-made snacks. Great place to buy small gifts.
Karolina Z — Google review
Well worth the trip. Cable car is easiest way to get there and is an experience in itself. The Monastery is interesting and you might be lucky enough to get "mass" / a blessing in main church. Try not to let the "influencers" bother your too much!!! Grab a snack at one of the local stands. The chicken kebab was absolutely delicious. If you have a car take a spin to the viewing point. It was not as busy as some people mention.

Tatev Monastery is one of Armenia's most iconic and breathtaking landmarks, offering a perfect blend of historical significance, architectural beauty, and stunning natural surroundings. Perched dramatically on the edge of a deep gorge in the Syunik region, the monastery dates back to the 9th century and was once a major center of learning and culture in medieval Armenia. The complex itself is well-preserved, with its impressive stone structures, including the Church of St. Peter and Paul, and intricate carvings that reflect Armenia's rich religious and architectural heritage. The view from Tatev is absolutely spectacular, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys that make the journey worthwhile. One of the highlights of visiting Tatev is taking the Wings of Tatev, the world’s longest reversible cable car, which offers breathtaking aerial views as you soar over the gorge. The combination of natural beauty, historical depth, and spiritual atmosphere makes Tatev Monastery a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Armenia. Highly recommended for history buffs, nature lovers, and anyone seeking an unforgettable experience in Armenia.
