Just a fast but interesting drive through the avenue but followed later on with a slower walk. The Avenue contains so many great historic buildings with architecture and interesting frontages. But you have to do it on foot to really appreciate the multiple sites.

Very nice and entertaining place both for kids and adults it has to be part of your trip to stp- paid for kids 490 up to 13 years and adults 540. Can spend 2 hours here you can get here by metro and by taxi .next to it there is a very nice park for kids to play ! 10/10 very impressive! You can see all Russia in a mini very detailed style !
Amira A — Google review
Amazing Miniature World – Best Place for Kids in St. Petersburg! Grand Maket Russia is one of the most impressive and fun attractions we visited in St. Petersburg—especially for kids! It’s a huge, detailed miniature model of the entire country, showing cities, villages, trains, cars, and even people in everyday life scenes. The level of detail is incredible, and the moving parts, lights, and sound effects make it feel alive. Children will love the interactive buttons that activate trains, cars, animals, and even volcanoes! The day-to-night lighting effect is magical and adds to the experience. You can easily spend 1–2 hours here exploring all the little scenes. It’s also educational and entertaining for adults. The museum is clean, well-organized, and easy to reach by metro or taxi. There’s even a small park nearby for kids to play after the visit. Highly recommended for families—a must-visit if you're traveling with children in St. Petersburg!
Athif A — Google review
Grand Maket Russia is such an entertaining and fascinating attraction! The amount of detail is incredible,,, funny, cute, & spectacular little scenes are tucked into every corner, making it a delight to explore. As a family interested in all of Russia, we spent about 40 minutes to an hour walking around & could have easily stayed longer. One of the most impressive parts was the display of military and naval bases, which was both educational & engaging. It’s a great place to watch, learn, & simply enjoy the artistry and storytelling of the miniature world. A very important tip: arrive at least an hour before the closing time. The last ticket sales happen one hour before the museum closes. Some online sources say Grand Maket stays open until 9 PM on Wednesdays and Fridays this is incorrect. When we visited on a Wednesday, we arrived at 6:55 PM expecting a later closing, only to find the ticket office already shutting down. Staff confirmed their hours are 10 AM to 8 PM daily. Other than that, the experience was wonderful, the place is absolutely worth a visit if you’re in St. Petersburg.

I couldn’t get enough videos and photos. Some details in there are just amazing. Started in 2008 and took about 5 years to build and still working on it , repairing and maintaining it to work for display is hard work. With day and night features , every details of lighting and movements is fine work. Highly recommend

And after you can have a meal in the the nice cafeteria which has good food . Thank you

Grand Market is a private museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It is a model layout designed on a scale of 1:87. In this area, collective images of regions of the Russian Federation are represented. It is the largest model layout in Russia and the second largest in the world. The model is located in a two-story building built in 1953, in the style of Stalin’s empire. They give binoculars for rent to view miniature models. It has night and day effects light also, which i s magnificent. This is a must visit site in st. petersberg.

The Neoclassical palace itself is a masterpiece and provides a stunning backdrop for the artworks on display. Amazing!!!! An obligatory visit. Any international visitor will discover not only Ryssian paintings and different schools / styles, but a lot about the history. The Mikhailovsky Palace, Art Square and the views from Mikhailovsky Park, ... the surroundings are absolutely awesome, ❤️ 😍 💖

Nice museum, however unfortunately some of the famous Russian masters we came to see were (despite internet reviews) not present, moved to other museums/exhibitions. Briulov, Aivazovskiy, Ivanov and Bruin - not here at this time. Otherwise amazing exhibition of Russian paintings dating from early, Church icons/religious works to 20th century works

The first museum I visited in Russia. Lot's of incredible masterpieces that will just amaze you. The tour guide was just a delight to listen to; his English was just impeccable. Made some new friends and that day was a good one I must say...💃

A beautiful building centrally located in St Petersburg, with a good fine art collection varying in periods. The building and the interiors are absolutely gorgeous. This is a great museum to visit in addition to the Hermitage. The coat check is very efficient (a necessary step when visiting) but the bathrooms definitely left something to be desired.

Beautiful museum. Went today and it was wonderful to be free of crowds. The building and setting are lovely. Staff speak English, which is helpful when you get lost and can't find the cloakroom. Highly recommend
HL R — Google review
A must see in St Petersburg. The building and the artworks are monumental. A good glimpse into Russian art and culture through the various historic stages of the empire/union/federation. A full day is needed to see everything, if not a few. Make sure you don't miss the main collections on the second floor.
Intelligent P — Google review
The complex of several different remoted objects. The main part - Museum of Russian art in this Mikhailovsky palace - is second to Hermitage as a main museum attraction and second to none as an art museum. I do recommend for every classical art fan!
Eshcho O — Google review
The museum hosts paintings, sculptures and other artifacts mostly from 19. century. This is the place where you can see the traditional Russian art and paintings. Pity to see that Russian art reached its peak in the 19th century and halted as soon as the Soviet revolution took place. At least they preserved their finest collections and present in this museum.

It was the most well-kept park I've ever seen. The trees were very well-pruned. Even the grass was very well-kept and looked very nice. If I were someone living in St. Petersburg, I would go to this park whenever I had free time.

Really beautiful and busy place at any time of the year.Awesome statues and landscape one of most romantic places I have seen in city where is free entrance.Very good place to take wonderful pictures or for these who into drawing, draw something nice. It's very close to busy street but until you into garden, feeling like you somewhere far away from dusty, busy city.Really enjoy my time there and wish could visit it at summer and winter as well. p.s. no souvenir sellers makes it even special.
XX S — Google review
Centrally located so easy to work into your tourist walk around. Lots of great sculptures, although not the originals. Fountains, etc. In the southern part of the park there is a small lake with swans. The restored park looks great, but in a way I preferred the more old rugged look it had before. Still, come and see and relax in the shade.

Gardens are beautiful. A sense of peacefulness fills you as you stroll through the gardens. The tea garden is lovely. A little pricey but good. Well maintained. Free to the public, and totally out rates the botanical gardens. Easy access from Metro or bus routes and tram. Note they are closed on Tuesdays.

Sights & Landmarks
The Savior on the Spilled Blood is a stunning 1880s church adorned with gleaming mosaics and marble, featuring colorful onion domes. Designed by Russian architect Hronihin, it boasts a cross-shaped floor plan with a cylinder-shaped penthouse and a correct dome. The semicircular colonnade consists of 94 columns facing the main street and encircling the square, where monuments of Russian commanders stand.
The interior of the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood is absolutely breathtaking. Stepping inside invites a moment of reflection — you can’t help but think about how much time and effort the artists must have put into creating such intricate details, blending colors, and forming the stunning, interwoven patterns. The mosaics and decorations are awe-inspiring, and golden accents shimmer when touched by light, creating a truly mesmerizing effect. Entry is quite affordable, though the place is often crowded. It’s highly recommended to read about the church beforehand to fully appreciate the variety of rare stones used in its construction.

Beautiful monument and must visit if you are in Saint Petersburg. Located on a river and it attracts your attention from far. A colorful building with special and unique architecture from outside. Tickets are available at the entrance and are available online. Price for entrance is 450 Rubles. The church inside is an absolute masterpiece of art. Colorful walls, and beautiful architecture. You can feel you are walking into a piece of art and being part of it. The visit took me around fifteen minutes in total. The right place to take nice pictures and videos.

Kazan Cathedral, designed by Russian architect Hronihin, is an elegant church that began its construction in 1801 and was completed in 1811. The cathedral features a cross-shaped floor plan with a cylinder-shaped penthouse above the middle and a grand dome on the top floor. The semicircular colonnade boasts 94 columns facing the main street and encircling the square, where monuments of Russian commanders Kutuzov and Barclay de Tolly stand.
This is a must visit place in Saint Petersburg! Extremely beautiful architecture, very clean inside. This is one of the few sightseeing places that you can visit for free, no ticket required!!! On the other hand, this is a functional orthodox church. Hence, all women are required to wear a scarf or a cap over their head. Inside everything is as beautiful as from outside. Good place for taking a lot of pictures.

An enormous Cathedral that is going to leave you with so many positive emotions. The building breathes love and peace. If you have a chance to visit this place, do not waste it.
Luka T — Google review
Can give a 6-star review if I could. This divine place, yes, divine for believers or not, Kazan Cathedral was one of the best choice to visit in St Petersburg. A mini Vatican as dubbed, our jaws were dropped all the way from it's gallery outdoors, then throughout the whole visit. Think this description has already got the interest for most people. Different to the other cathedrals in St Petersburg, Kazan has her own characters that is difficult to describe. The gallery of huge columns, the marble facets, granite floors of the size of a large public square, all gave mind-blowing visuals to any visitor stepped inside. The exhibits are well planned and placed that numerous docents could lead their tourists groups without interfering too much to other visitors like us. The besiege of the city during WWII was another key story we could learn more from. The endurance and hardship human can display is remarkable and incredible. Anyone loving art and culture will find this place fascinating and we just could not get enough of it. Even there were over a hundred of visitors inside the main chamber, we could still be awed and feel the solemnity of the church. It's like magic indeed. One will not regret going, trust your instinct.
Joe H — Google review
It turned out to be one of the most peaceful and beautiful places of my trip. The architecture is grand, with the huge curved colonnade and stunning entrance that immediately catches your eye. Even from outside, it looks very majestic. Inside, the atmosphere is very calm and spiritual. The interiors are beautifully decorated with icons, paintings, and soft lighting that gives a very serene feeling. I spent some quiet time just walking around and soaking in the peaceful vibe. It’s also located right on Nevsky Prospekt, so it’s easy to visit while exploring the city. For me, it was a lovely experience and definitely worth stopping by if you’re in St. Petersburg. A beautiful cathedral with a very calming energy.
Divya V — Google review
Such a beautiful, grand process. A truly stunning church Kazan Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, on Nevsky Prospekt. The church was built between 1801 and 1811 under the direction of architect Andrey Voronikhin and its design was inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, featuring a large colonnade and a large central dome. The interior of the church is decorated with beautiful mosaics and icons, making it a must-see cultural and religious site. The photos don't really do the church's exterior justice, they only capture a portion of it, you have to come and see it for yourself.
Huy T — Google review
While it seems it gets less attention than other churches in town, this gem located in the Nevsky prospect is a must see.

It was constructed between 1801 and 1811 under the direction of architect Andrey Voronikhin and the design was inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, featuring a grand colonnade and a large central dome. The interior of the cathedral is adorned with beautiful mosaics and icons, making it a must see cultural and religious site. The photos do not really do justice to the beauty of the Cathedral.

The Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg is a magnificent neoclassical masterpiece, with its grand colonnaded façade and towering dome. It's a must-see landmark in the city, and here's why: Exterior: * Architectural grandeur: The cathedral's imposing exterior is a testament to its importance and beauty. The white façade and colonnades create a striking contrast against the surrounding cityscape. * Historical significance: Built in the early 19th century, the cathedral commemorates the victory over Napoleon and houses the tomb of Field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov. Interior: * Spiritual atmosphere: The cathedral's interior is a serene space with beautiful frescoes and icons. It's a place of worship and reflection for many. * Religious relics: The cathedral houses a copy of the famous icon of Our Lady of Kazan, which is a significant pilgrimage site for Orthodox Christians. Additional points: * Free admission: The cathedral is free to enter, making it accessible to everyone. * Guided tours: Guided tours are available for those who want to learn more about the history and architecture of the cathedral. Overall: The Kazan Cathedral is a stunning example of Russian neoclassical architecture and a significant religious site. Its impressive exterior and serene interior make it a must-visit attraction in St. Petersburg.

Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines

If you're looking for a unique and nostalgic experience in St. Petersburg, the Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines is an absolute must-visit! This compact yet vibrant museum boasts an impressive collection of over 40 vintage arcade games from the Soviet era, dating back to the 1970s. Unlike traditional museums where you can only admire artifacts, here you have the chance to actually play these retro machines and relive some childhood memories.
I loved that they give you coins to play with the arcades. Next to every arcade there is a description of the game and the year of release. Nearly everything is written in english and russian. There are also consoles such as sega and Nintendo64. Upon arrival you are giving short instructions. Possibly to get drinks as well.
Jaime C — Google review
A really fun place for kids. It’s still a great place for an adult to visit, but you’ll see everything pretty quick. From Soviet-era arcade machines, smells from that time, and Soviet cartoons playing in a room. You can see (and smell) what life was like for kids during this era. Some of the games where hard to play while others were fun enough to play a second time. A good place to burn an hour or two!
Brett H — Google review
Can't recommend it highly enough. Really fun way to spend an hour or two, playing old Soviet-era arcade machines, which have all been lovingly saved and restored. The space is cool, the games are fun, each has a great description of the maker, the design and the game mechanics in Russian and in English (slightly abridged). There's a cool cafe and Soviet era soda machines that dispense Kvass and other drinks. Entry is 450rub per person, for which you get a bunch of coins to play the machines.
Gavin M — Google review
Even though the name of the museum is what originally hooked us, the name actually sells it a little short. While they do have a huge unique selection of Soviet-Era arcade machines, they also have many other things from that era including a unique exhibit where you can smell things from that time, listen to things, try drinks, etc. How the arcade portion works is you pay admission and receive about 15 Soviet era coins to use in the machines. I believe you can buy more as well. They also come in a unique match box to hold while you play. “Technically” you are supposed to turn in the remainder coins as you leave since they aren’t in circulation any more, but no one really seems to care if you want to keep one as a souvenir. They also have free Wifi, coffee and snacks, clean toilets and a small selection of things to purchase. The selection of arcade machines is good, although they aren’t always in perfect repair, but that is part of the fun!
Reed B — Google review
I knew nothing about arcade games from CCCP times, but this was two hours of quality time. With your ticket you get a matchbox with bunch of original coins from soviet time. You can use them to play any of the games. 1 coin = 1 play. 90% of the games are in very good working condition, other ones are under maintenance. Staff is very patient to explain to you how the museum works, coins, games, etc. Must visit if you are in St. Peterburg.
Skubi P — Google review
A fun place to go and visit if in St Petersburg. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, gave a good explanation of all the things there. Some of the machines weren't working, which was a bit of a shame, but can't be helped. Was interesting as an outsider to see all the games that were played in the USSR. If you're a gamer and in the area, I would recommend going - very cool as well to use the old Soviet coins to pay for things.
Dominic L — Google review
Super cool place, with a coffee shop atmosphere. Seeing these machines and getting to play them was a trip back in time. I loved the machines with the vacuum tubes that could light up as numbers for your score. I definitely recommend getting a soda from the old Soviet soda fountain. The cream soda was actually incredibly delicious.
Nicholas W — Google review
It is nice to see the adults playing these games. I also loved how they give the coins for machines. Inside a match box. It is a bit small and you may need to wait for machines. You enjoy more if you go with your friends.

History Museums
The Pushkin Apartment Museum is a captivating tribute to one of Russia's most celebrated writers, Alexander Pushkin. Nestled within his actual residence, the museum showcases meticulously preserved furnishings and decor that reflect the opulent lifestyle of the mid-1800s. Visitors can immerse themselves in Pushkin's literary world by exploring exhibits featuring his renowned works like 'Eugene Onegin' and 'The Queen of Spades.' Additionally, the museum offers insights into his life through handwritten manuscripts and illustrations.
Wonderful place to know more about the last days of this wonderful poet. It took around 1hour to see the whole museum. They provide audio guide in several languages and it is included in the entrance ticket, which is super cool because you can hear the whole history of Pushkin's last days.
Dary S — Google review
What a wonderful place to learn about Russia’s greatest poet Alexander Pushkin. This museum is located at the poet’s apartment. Visitors can only enter the museum with a tour guide or an audio guide paid for at the entrance. Inside the museum, visitors learn in detail about Pushkin and the last four months of his life and his tragic deaths.
Sarah M — Google review
I was on a guided tour for this one. The guide told the very compelling story of Pushkin and his life estranged by the politics of that era. Beautifully maintained, in a VERY nice area.
Charlie C — Google review
I love Pushkin. I love the museum. Rude staff, they are bit aggressive when making comments that you stay too long, too close, don't touch, don't go there, its not allowed to step on the carpet... I was unlucky to get inside along with college students. They seemed to be bored of being there and I "enjoyed" a river of rude comments of those old ladies. Nightmare! There must be a better way to protect exhibit. And take audioguade, its better...
Milena T — Google review
Pushkin was a beloved Russian author, who died from fighting a duel. The museum is of his apartment and artifacts. You wear a headset that guides you thru the different parts of the building. It also tells about him and his family, and the events leading up to his death. You can't take photos inside, but there is a lovely garden, with a nice statue of him. Many people have there photograph taken in front of the statue.
Ian E — Google review
the staff were very kind, and this place can educate you a lot on Pushkin's life. you will be able to see his handwritten work and illustrations, along with his old furniture. I have lived in Saint Petersburg for almost a decade now, and it was very interesting to learn about the culture, and go more in depth and learn about one of the greatest poets. I recommend for any tourists, since it isn't crowded, and you can get an audio guide with many languages. prices are also suitable. it is free for students.
Maya O — Google review
I suggest you to come here and see the last place where Alexander Pushkin leaved before his last duel. Especially this place is good in winter, because it will add you feelings of that time. You'll be impressed by huge number of things that were saved till now. And, of course, you'll get something new from the life of the great poet, who made too much, but lived not enough.

If you love Impressionism Art, this is definitely the MOST AMAZING place you could find! Wow, i never saw such as large collection, with so many varieties. This is just outstanding and blew my mind. This aside, the building new modern architecture is just wonderful! Do yourself a big favor, come inside to get lost and appreciate art in all his forms and feelings.

Now part of the extensive Heritage Museum Complex ( use same entry ticket), was created by Carlo Rossi in 1820-30s. There are three levels with many exhibitions on each, ranging from African Art to the works of many great artists ( Picasso, van Gogh, and French Impressionist and Post-Impressionists). Its a good opportunity to see such great works in an uncrowded setting, close up. The only "frustration" was the glass in the frames protecting the art, as it gives reflections of the lights. Downstairs is a bookshop and cafe.
Vincent O — Google review
The modern art collection of the Hermitage is located in the General Staff Building. The entrance is on the left side facing away from the Winter Palace. One of the greatest collection of the modern art of late 1800‘s to early 1900‘s. No long lines unlike the Winter Palace. You can actually buy tickets to Winter Palace at this Location as well, which is not well known.
Vlad G — Google review
A welcome respite from the tour group hell across the square at the Winter Palace. Peaceful, airy, relaxing. Difficult to find the exhibitions which mostly seem to occupy the 3rd and 4th floors. Seems to be quite empty with a lot of rooms having no exhibits... I wonder if we were there in between shows or if this is the regular state.

The Alexander Column, located in the heart of St. Petersburg's Palace Square, is a towering monolith commemorating Russia's victory over Napoleon's France. Designed by French architect Auguste de Montferrand and completed in 1834, it stands as one of the world's tallest monuments at 50 meters. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the gulf, port, and iconic landmarks such as St. Isaac's golden dome and the Winter Palace.

It's very likely that you will visit the hermitage meuseum if you are in st petersburg. This monument is right outside the museum and it's quite impressive given that the massive column is standing alone on it's own weight without being fixed with any mechanism. The area is very scenic and perfect for photography. Definitely should check it out.

An impressive column of marble, carved from a single block that is prominent in Palace Square. Notice the detailed relief sculptures on the 4 sides of the pedestal. Apparently, it's not fixed down, just stands erect under it's own weight!
Vincent O — Google review
One of the interesting things to see at Palace Square in St. Petersburg is the Alexander Column which is situated in the centre of the square between the Winter Palace and the Building of the General Staff. The monument was constructed between 1830-34 by French architect Auguste de Montferrand and is named after Emperor Alexander I who ruled Russia from 1801-1825. It is red granite and 24.5 meters tall, topped by a statue figure of an angel holding a cross. The pedestal is quite decorative with bas-reliefs on each side. The column is flanked by two lamp posts and there is a cast iron railing around the monument. Collectively, it makes for an attractive monument arrangement. In the end, if you enjoy monuments, this is a nice one to see. You can take nice pictures by standing right in front of the General Staff building. Here you see the Alexander Column in front of the Winter Palace building.

Certainly, St. Petersburg's Palace Square is undeniably one of the most beautiful places in Russia. Situated at the heart of the city, it serves as a focal point for many historic sites, much like Moscow's Red Square. Located directly across from the Hermitage Museum, the square is dominated by the imposing 47.5-meter-tall Alexander Column at its center, making it hard to miss. This expansive open space is a popular meeting point for both locals and tourists, surrounded by many of the historical sites St. Petersburg has to offer. A trip to St. Petersburg would be incomplete without a visit to this iconic landmark of Russia. by: dizzy traveler

The Museum of Political History of Russia is housed in an elegant 1904 palace in Saint Petersburg, a city known for its pivotal role in Russian history. Originally established as a museum of revolution, it now features a comprehensive collection of documents and artifacts spanning from Catherine II to contemporary political leaders. The museum is located in the former mansion of ballerina Mathilde Kschessinska, which was seized by Lenin during the 1917 Revolution.
Very well presented exhibits that portray the turbulent times of the Tzar's abdication, the rise of the Soviets, the Russian Revolution, Reign of Terror and recent events up to current President Putin. We were with a guide so could appreciate the significance on Russian life, and spent 3 hours which was not enough. The State Hermitage Museum, founded by Catherine the Great in 1754, is one of the world's oldest and largest museums. It houses an extensive collection of art, culture, and antiquities. The museum recently expanded with a contemporary art wing in the General Staff Building, showcasing 21st-century artworks by renowned artists. The Kazan Cathedral nearby features a unique architectural design and historical significance related to Russian military figures and events from the early 19th century.
This is one of the most stunning Museums I have ever seen, it is extremely bigger than any other museums I have visited in many countries around the world. The whole belongings of Catherine the Great are exhibited here and you need more than half a day if you really want to see all and everything. It is without doubt the most beautiful and rich of art museum in the world. Expect waiting time of half and hour during week days and up to one hour waiting time during weekends, however it is worth waiting for. It is highly recommended to visit 👌

The State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to the city. It’s not just a museum — it’s a journey through art, history, and beauty all in one place. Founded by Catherine the Great in 1764, the Hermitage is one of the largest and most impressive museums in the world, with over three million works of art and artifacts. From ancient Egyptian relics to masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh, there’s something here to amaze every visitor. The main building, the Winter Palace, is a work of art itself. Its grand halls, golden staircases, and lavishly decorated rooms will leave you speechless. Walking through it feels like stepping straight into the era of Russian emperors. Every corner is picture-perfect — a mix of stunning architecture and world-famous paintings. One of the highlights is the European art collection, especially the Italian Renaissance and French Impressionist galleries. You can easily spend an entire day exploring and still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface. Whether you’re an art lover, a history buff, or just someone who appreciates beautiful places, the Hermitage Museum will absolutely captivate you. It’s more than a museum — it’s an experience that will stay with you long after your trip. Don’t forget your camera and some comfortable shoes — you’ll need both!

I came back a second time by myself just to take the amazing ore of this place. if there is no people around it would be like stepping back in time. It is amazing to think that things like this were built hundreds and hundreds of years ago and to think that this was built for one family it’s truly breathtaking and mind-boggling about the size of this amazing structure. If there’s only one thing that you can do in Saint Petersburg I would say come here. It’s easy a day visit or like me two days just come and see for yourself. It’s amazing.

One of the main attractions in Saint Petersburg. Absolutely one of the greatest museums i have ever visited. Ticket costs 509 rubles. You have the option to get the tickets from the counter, or buy the tickets online. Stunning Architecture that makes you feel like you traveled through the time. A large variety of art work. Time needed to visit the palace is between two hours and a half, and three hours. A counter is available to hang your coat, and you get a token. The token number will later help you find the exit that you entered from. Several exits are available and it is easy to miss your dedicated exit. Absolutely a must visit site if you are in Saint Petersburg.

An absolutely stunning Palace from the moment you walk in to the all the rooms you explore . This is something else the gold and share beauty of each room blows you away and leaves you speechless. What a grand place it was for the royals to be in and a magnificent opportunity for me to be able to visit and enjoy this glamorous Palace. We had a tour at 10am and was able to explore the whole Palace in 2 hours which was thought was enough time . With photos and videos of each room if necessary, I really enjoyed how there was so much group here but everyone was organised. They waited in a line behind you until you moved to the next room then they enter the room you left behind very well organised no chaos. And the gardens was very pretty with all the flowers and great views for taking photos at the top . We had a man playing a flute in the gardens which was a treat to experience as we was coming to the end of the gardens. A video was created of this music and the golden building at the top it was a wonderful moment shared . A final thought to say we was very excited to be able to get photos in all the rooms before My partner said it was not possible in the Amber room. This was My wish could true to visit the Amber room it was something out of this world I ask how much it was worth and and speechless. Also the pure gold in all the room I have never witnessed a english or somewhere else in Europe like this .I found this magnificent and should a privilege to experience this type of Palace full of gold rooms.

Most of the rooms in the palace exhibit artworks depicting a lifestyle rarely associated with the Romanovs. Personally, I didn't find it enjoyable because of the many paintings featuring nudity. I highly recommend visiting the Winter Palace instead, where you can explore preserved rooms that offer a richer historical perspective. Additionally, it's advisable not to bring children to this palace.

Make sure to buy both tickets, to get inside, and to get upstairs on the observation deck where you can see the city all around. Inside it is so beautiful. There are guides in the cathedral that start a tour every half an hour, maybe, try to stick to one of their groups and listen to the details, a lot of historical information.

Entrance tickets cost 5$ which you can get on the cathedral. Special discounts for students. You be taking almost 170-180 steps going up to reach the upper deck view. It is a place worthy of staying a bit longer once you reached the top. You're lucky if you go there with the sun up if not be ready with a jacket to keep you warm. Sadly the cathedral was closed for inside tours.

So many cathedrals that are so spectacular and amazing and a boggles the mind how these things were even built with their large scale everything from the doors to the front pillars that are 17 t it’s just amazing to think that these were built without machines they were made with hand manpower. Once you get inside and see the amazing mosaics and mighty structures and huge iron doors that weigh around 5 t each. There is an awesome talking tour which you get with some headphones and a little map of the cathedral which is very informative and very helpful to help you understand how much work went into it’s a building of the cathedral, totally amazing if things were built like this these days there would be a lot of amazing buildings not just a normal concrete jungle. There is a lovely little gift shop inside that supports the church. A must do to buy something as I did a nice passport leather wallet and I must say the quality was just amazing like everything else here. It’s so easy to immerse yourself into this culture, St Petersburg is such an amazing pace, with so many awesome things to see. As a foreigner I felt very welcomed and all the places that I visited, so if you’re wondering whether or not to go just do it it’s amazing.

This cathedral is such a fanatic, adorable place. It’s truly one of the must-see places in Saint Petersburg.

This is a place not to miss and worth to see and explore. I do recommend to buy tickets in advance as there is a line of people and it will take some time to buy them on the spot and enter. Plus is they have for a small fee audio guide so you can explore on your own and walk around. I was really impressed by the beauty of it both from the inside and outside. Also there is a package of tickets to buy which will grant you access to the upper part of the building. Recommend to visit 👌

The Peter and Paul Fortress, founded by Peter the Great, is a significant historical site in St. Petersburg. It has served various purposes over its three-century history, from being a burial place for the Romanov Emperors and Empresses to a political prison and even a site for Soviet rocket technology experiments. The fortress houses diverse exhibitions across different buildings that celebrate its rich history. One of its main attractions is the spectacular Ss. Petersburg and Paul Cathedral.
Located on a small island, it's another beautiful place you should definitely visit in Saint Petersburg. Great atmosphere and great views. Must visit!

A very nice place to visit in St Petersburgh. Walking around in the area was pleasant. Very good architecture and very well maintained. It has some park and benches as well if you get exhausted. You can walk up to the waterfront from the courtyard. Beautiful views at the waterfront as well.

Nice place ,, and it’s show how the island was strong,, by the way you can take a ticket for full place which cost 1000 robal I recommend just for the fortress the main only which you can see the royal family stores ,,, but the other place so boring and roof top , jail and the money museum will by extra money

The place is big. You can go there via walk from the city center or by taking the city buss tour (4000 rubles) that will take you to 14 locations. Once entered youl have alot of locations to view from and list of museums and attractions to see, the only challenge is most of the museums require tickets to be purchased in advance or through a long wait. But surely a must place to visit

The Peter and Paul Cathedral, a baroque masterpiece built between 1712 and 1733, stands as a significant landmark in St. Petersburg. Often overshadowed by its more famous counterpart, St. Isaac's Cathedral, this architectural gem is situated within a fortress that served as a military base rather than for defense purposes. Designed by Italian architect Domenico Trezzini, the cathedral boasts a blend of Western European church architecture elements such as its rectangular shape, tall towers, and dome.
I really love the ambiance and the view. Napakaganda rin ng simoy ng hangin. The bells are also great to hear. I only visit Number 1 to 11 for 400 rubles (student). You can also try other museums, they have a very kind staff.

It was summer when we visited. The better time to go indeed. == This Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of the most splendid church in the St. Petersburg area, in my mere opinion. As it used more green lightings on the ceilings that were to my taste. It gives the church a special green tone that is rare among others in the Northern or Eastern Europe. And it was included in the admission ticket of the Peter and Paul Fortress.

The Peter and Paul Cathedral (Peter-Pavlovsky Sobor) is one of the most significant and iconic landmarks in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Here are some key points about the cathedral: 1. **Historical Significance**: The cathedral was founded by Peter the Great in 1703, shortly after the establishment of Saint Petersburg. It was built as part of the Peter and Paul Fortress, which was the first structure in the city and served as a defensive fortification. 2. **Architecture**: The cathedral is designed in the Baroque style and is known for its distinctive golden spire, which reaches a height of 122.5 meters (402 feet), making it the tallest building in the city. The spire is topped with a weather vane in the shape of a golden angel. 3. **Interior**: The interior of the cathedral features beautiful frescoes, intricate woodwork, and a number of chapels. The altarpiece and the iconostasis are particularly noteworthy, showcasing the artistry of Russian religious art. 4. **Royal Burial Site**: The Peter and Paul Cathedral serves as the burial site for many of the Russian emperors and empresses, from Peter the Great to Nicholas II. The tombs of the Romanov dynasty are located within the cathedral, making it a significant site for Russian history. 5. **Cultural Importance**: The cathedral is a symbol of Saint Petersburg and is recognized as an architectural masterpiece. It is an important site for both tourists and locals, attracting visitors interested in its history, architecture, and art. 6. **Visitor Information**: The cathedral is open to the public, and visitors can explore its interior, learn about its history, and view the burial sites of the Romanov family. There is often a small entrance fee. 7. **Location**: The cathedral is situated on Zayachy Island within the Peter and Paul Fortress, which is located on the Neva River. The fortress itself is a popular tourist destination, offering additional attractions and historical exhibits. The Peter and Paul Cathedral is not only a place of worship but also a vital part of Russia's cultural and historical heritage, representing the city's founding and its evolution over the centuries..

The oldest church in St Peterburg and a significant landmark. Built in 1712 to 1733, the cathedral is an imperial burial site and houses the remains of almost all the Russian emperors and empresses from Peter the Great to Nicholas II and his family

Got the combined ticket worth 800RUB, which is good for 3 days. For me, it was not worth it at all. What attracted me most were those not included in the combined ticket. You need to pay separately.

It was really crowded inside and hard to take in the meaning of the different Czars buried here. I would recommend reading up on the history of the main leaders to get a deeper appreciation. It was very sobering seeing the chapel tomb of Nicholas II, the last Czar of Russia, and remembering how him and his family were murdered and dumped in unmarked graves - finally getting buried here with honors in 1998. I feel this is a very important place of history and would definitely recommend a visit! We went with Alla Tours while on a 24-hour stopover on our Norwegian Getaway Baltic cruise in August 2019.

Worth visiting this private aristocracy home that is used as a museum. Lots of amazingly beautiful interior designs from Italian, Greek, France and Russian architects. Enjoy acapela song in private theatre room. But you have to pay for your camera and to enter some private rooms. It is enjoyable but please do not compare this private home with the interior design in the Marseilles castle in France.

The place offers variously themed excursions and one can choose the most interesting one. I had a short overview excursion with a brilliant guide first and on a different day visited Rasputin's murder exposition with movies the latter one a visitor can do with its own pace, there is no guide, the movies tell it all. The mansion is really impressive, rooted so deeply in the Russian history, its decoration is stunning.

This is a 5 stars palace in terms of beauty and magnificent architecture, but unfortunately the main tour doesn't mention the basement and the murder of Rasputin. Also it has currently 5 rooms closed due to restoration. Although the ticket is expensive, I do recommend the visit, the rest of the rooms are magnificent. But don't buy in the souvenir store, the same items are half price in many souvenirs stores in the city.

Marvellous aristocratic palace in heart of Saint Petersburg. Absolutely interesting the history of the Yusupov family. Very well organised tour through the marvellous halls of the palace which host some amazing and unique interiors and ambiences. Very well organised in terms of accessibility, audioguide and services. The Bronze Horseman, also known as the Copper Horseman, is a famous equestrian statue of Peter the Great located in the Senate Square of Saint Petersburg. Commissioned by Catherine the Great in 1782, it bears inscriptions in both Latin and Russian to honor her predecessor. Named after Aleksander Pushkin's renowned poem, it is considered a symbol of admiration for Peter the Great and an important landmark in Saint Petersburg.
The impressive statue of Peter the Great overlooks the Neva River. You can take some great photos here, depending on the weather and sunshine of course. The Military-Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineer and Signal Corps is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts visiting Saint Petersburg. Established in 1703 by Peter the Great, this museum originally served as a storage facility for old artillery at the iconic Peter and Paul Fortress. Today, it boasts an impressive outdoor collection of around 250 artillery pieces that immediately catch the eye.
So many things to see here, it's a full museum of exhibits. Spent there nearly 3 hours.
Ondra V — Google review
The artillery museum was a great experience and one that definitely should not be overlooked. While it's difficult to interpret much of the Russian and foreigners must pay a higher ticket price (just speak Russian and you can avoid this, it's only a few dollars), the experience is worth it. Don't spend too much time in the courtyard or the historical rooms and instead walk through and see what's upstairs. The Kalashnikov, WW2 and Cold war rooms are incredible, with amazing models and hardware that you can almost touch. I would high recommend this to anyone with an interest in military hardware from any era.
Justin — Google review
Far bigger than I thought. The museum has a very impressive array of weaponry, not just artillery, from all throughout Russia's history. Without reading any of the signs (all in russian), I still spent around 2 hours here looking at everything. The vehicles out front are also very impressive.

An exhibition that is highly satisfying for those interested in military technology and history. It is particularly rich and fulfilling in the field of mechanical military engineering.

Really interesting place to everyone who likes weapons and arms from different centuries and countries, gun collectors etc. Kids will love possibility to climb on old cannons in front of the museum and look on pistols, rifles and other weapons from ancient times to modern. The real must to visit is Kalashnikov exhibition on the 3rd floor. There you can see all weapons this world famous Russian gunsmith created during his career. They also have rather interesting exhibition about Winter War with Finnish weapons, photos and other stuff used by Finns and Soviets during that war.

A place absoultely worth of visiting if you like military equipment. There are a number of military vehicles and weapons from the Russian empire and Soviet Union era. As part of the tour, you can disassemble and assemble an AK74 rifle. The exibition is divided in indoor and outdoor part.
Alen V — Google review
Grat museum full of great pieces. Only problem is that everything except a few things is in russian. So if you don't know anything about these vehicles or weapons, it might be lees enjoyable. It is really big, with 4 hours we saw all the things but without stooping to much in the internal exhibition.
Angel V — Google review
The museum is awesome. It really satisfy the thirst of knowing not only about the war history and military developments but also gives opportunity to closely feel the weapons of mass destruction. For the nationals it can make them proud and feel safe, and for a foreigner it may surprise to see such a rich history in military developments. At one place there is a demonstration of dismantling and assembling of AK-47 rifle which is highly popular all over world for its capabilities. It is surprising to see that, such heavy machineries they were able to manage in the display hall all over the museum.

A visit here on the last Thursday of each month is particularly rewarding; you can delve into fascinating exhibits that explain why mammoths vanished while some dinosaur contemporaries still thrive today.
Never in my life have I seen so many stuffed animals! Quite 'old fashioned' compared with British zoological museums, but absolutely fascinating and amazing! One of my favourite places in St Petersburg.

Kunstkamera, established by Peter the Great in the early 1700s, is among Russia's oldest museums. Initially a private collection of rarities, it later opened to the public for educational purposes. The museum showcases a wide array of human oddities, anatomical curiosities, archaeological collections from Russia and around the world. Over time, it has amassed exhibits from Russian travelers, navigators and scientists.
Very nice museum with everything you need in English.

One of the most interesting museums with unique collections in the world! Located in a super old but well-kept building. We were impressed by the Eskimo exhibition created from the things brought from Russian expeditions, you don’t see that in classic history museums, and, of course, the collection of human embryons was breathtaking and spooky at the same time, our stomachs turned up in the beginning but then we were curiously examining just like other visitors.

"Come, look, appraise and believe your own eyes only" is the motto of this museum. A fascinating collection of cultural, religious, hunting, social and dress from regions around the world. Its was like a world tour from the Eskimos, past the Indian tribes of north America into Africa and across Indochina and southeast Asia. There is also the exhibition of "oddities" and other unusual, deformed embryos and animals. The museum is very educational but even if taken slowly, it's an information overload.

I really love animals. It costs 600 rubles to visit this zoo. There is a map guide so that you can be able to explore it. Don't forget to explore the inside of the zoo. I'm the first one to enter since I got there at their opening time. Don't be afraid to ask since the staff are friendly, if you can't speak Russian like me you can use translator 😁😁.

Absolutely spectacular zoo. The animals are just lovely. Although small, I prefer zoos like this since they are more likely to be well maintained. I prefer it over Moscow zoo.
Zayed A — Google review
I didn’t realise that Saint Petersburg had a zoo, I seen it one day when I was with my friend while we were attending the Canon fire at midday. We never got to go that day so I went by myself the following week. It was a lot different to other zoos that I’ve been to, it felt like the animals were closer with less barricades. The polar bear looks very happy and he had a big enclosure, and it was amazing to see how big they are it was beautiful. Another animal I’ve never seen before was a moose, I was very surprised at how large they are, way bigger than a horse. The nocturnal area with the little monkeys and other little rodents inside the building was very cool and a good spot to have a rest. The Black Panther was very large and I didn’t expect him to be as long as they are, there is a few entrances to the zoo but only one that you can pay with cash, as being a foreigner I did not have a money card to use to get in the other gates. They had plenty of maps around and lots of signage so it was easy to find the animals that you wanted to see first, the toilets were hard to find though but overall was a fantastic experience at the zoo seeing all the animals just for you. Definitely a few places to see over that side of Saint Petersburg . Oh and one last thing the cows it was like they were talking to me. It was so funny. We had a great conversation LOL so if you’re wondering about going to the zoo just go it was really fun even by myself.

* * * Small but lovly zoo, good time for a few hour visit * * * As a zoo lover i tend to go to new zoo's when ever i can, so while in Peter the Leningrad Zoo was a must for me. the central location makes it easy to get to the zoo with it being more or less in the middle of the turistic zone of the city. the entrance fee is 500Rub ~ 7.5USD so it's a very cheap zoo compared to many i have visited. The zoo itself isn't that big due to it's location but it's still a place you can spend few hours in, some part are under repair to make the zoo more modern while other parts are still "old school" zoo type, the over protective and problemetic metal bars that makes it hard to see the animals even. all in all it was a nice visit even in the cold season with less people around.
Ian L — Google review
relatively good zoo, but rn some parts are off limits because they re building something. Cool that polar bears now have their own ice machine, sj they are not melting in the summer heat! But some other animals look pretty depressed in a small cage, hope they do something about it. Would recommend visiting
Aleksey S — Google review
This is one of the oldest places in St Petersburg and unfortunately it is like a concentration camp. The zoo is outdated and they keep most of the big animals in very small places, which has certainly provoked the animals to go crazy and depressed. It is depressing itself to visit this place if you love animals. DO NOT 🚫 Visit this place

The Palace Bridge is an upscale spa hotel located on Vasilievsky Island in Saint Petersburg. I would like to sincerely thank Alexandra and Daria from the reservations team, Alexander, Anna, Ekaterina, Anatoly from the reception and guest relations as well as Irina / breakfast manager. Even the cleaning personnel was truly so supportive and excellent in their job. They all made me feel like home. Served to the best standards, always supportive and kind. More importantly they were able to immediately address any mishaps and make sure that everything worked perfectly. In Palace bridge hotel all work as a team. Always smiling and truly kind in making every single stay feel amazing. I cannot thank you enough. See you soon!

I find it shocking to see so many positive reviews for this place. My parents traveled a great distance and stayed for three days in a room that was shockingly mediocre for a so-called 4-5star hotel. The real nightmare began when one of their expensive items was stolen by the hotel’s staff while they were out sightseeing. When they discovered the theft and reported it, the staff refused to take any responsibility, blatantly disregarding the hotel's policy. I understand that valuables should be locked away, but this item was a power bank that was still charging. I wouldn't be writing this review if I wasn't absolutely certain of what happened. The staff's behavior was disgracefully unprofessional, and it’s appalling that they acted as if this serious issue wasn't their problem.

This hotel was amazing! The location was perfect — just a 10-minute walk to the Hermitage. It was very luxurious and clean, with spacious rooms, an excellent breakfast, and incredibly hospitable staff. Considering everything, it was truly outstanding.

I have been to this place many times in the past and the quality of service and rooms has gone down significantly. The mattresses are uncomfortable and the staff is not friendly. If you like the spa, I recommend going there individually but avoid at all cost actually spending the night over there.

Very good made and beautiful spa, best one in Saint-Petersburg. Very nice rooms. Problem is that spa open till 23, but already 22.30 Jacuzzis and saunas are turned off. Breakfast is good, there is sparkling wine included. I wish there would be a loyalty program soon. I stay at the hotel several times a year and want to receive bonuses in the form of room upgrades

Breakfast is weak for such a beatiful and big hotel. Cheese and hot beeakfast options are very few.

Excellent hotel connected with amazing SPA zone will inspire you. 8 exciting saunas (even Ice sauna with temperature below zero), swimming pool, cold water font. Helpful and friendly staff always is ready to assist you. Without any doubts it's 5 star. I've absolutely satisfied. Lucky location will save you time. Support is polite and ready to help you. Definitely I'll recommend this place.

Having visited numerous hotels in Russia, I must admit that Hotel Plus Bridge stands out not only due to its exquisite beauty and location but also because of the exceptional service provided by its staff. The courteous and respectful demeanor of the employees sets it apart from other hotels and deserves special recognition. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the polite and considerate staff, especially to Ms. Ekaterina, who went above and beyond to provide excellent guidance and assistance during my stay. Her professionalism and attentiveness made my visit truly remarkable. Additionally, the reception team's warm welcome left a lasting impression on me. Rest assured that I will enthusiastically recommend your hotel to all my friends and acquaintances, irrespective of their travel destination or time of visit. Hotel Palace Bridge has left a lasting impression on me, and I genuinely believe that everyone should experience the remarkable hospitality it offers. Once again, thank you for making my stay so memorable. I look forw

Iconic 32-m columns, adorned with sculptures & ships’ prows & topped with torches lit on holidays.
Great place. Fantastic view. And it's free. The old light houses are most unsual.

Landmark riverside columns presented in the 1815 in the Greek Revival architectural style. The columns represented the power and greatness of the state marine fleet and also referred to the custom of Ancient Rome, when columns were decorated with rostra of defeated trophy enemy ships. The Rostral columns are now a monument of naval glory of Russia.

Nice place to enjoy in the afternoon with a breeze slowly hitting your face. Many food trucks nearby, so no worry if you need any warm drink and snacks. Best place to solo traveller like me, but even better if you bring your love one here.

These are the same columns which are featured on the 50 Ruble Banknote along with Old St Petersburg Stock Exchange building . Built in early 19th Century approx 32 meters tall. Also looks distinctive when lit up at night during the opening of the Palace Bridge .
