If you find yourself in Repino, a visit to the Ilya Repin Museum-Estate "Penaty" is an enriching experience that delves into the life of one of Russia's most celebrated painters. This charming location served as Repin's final residence and is where he both lived and passed away. The museum offers guided tours that provide fascinating insights into his artistic journey and the historical context of the area during his lifetime, particularly its transition into Soviet territory.
Couldn't get inside since the tickets booth closes down at 5pm but walking through the park is enjoyable even by itself. I would recommend going there at autumn, its especially lovely this time of the year

This place is about famous russian painter Repin. He lived there for a long time and paint a lot of his pictures. House was destroyed during WW2 and was rebuild again by the photos. Now there are museum and park. Museum excursion will tell about life and work of the painter. Walking in the park allow to feel the soul of that place.
Peter K — Google review
The wooden house was built in 1960 in accordance with drawings, which remained after the fire of 1944. That fire destroyed everything around. The house, which is more than 75 years old, requires significant renovation. There are just several original subjects there, which belonged to Mr. I. Repin. The several small and not well-known pictures by Mr. I. Repin and his students and several units of furniture exposed were taken from Repin's apartment in St. Petersburg; other subjects were brought from different places with the aim to give an impression of the epoch. It was very dark in the rooms, and most of pictures were almost invisible. The visitors, who want to see exposition, are advised to take pocket lights with them. The forest with paths leading to several sights of interest including the grave of the artist and summer theater, surrounds the manor. Unfortunately these paths are not properly lighted and poorly supplied with pointers.
Alexander K — Google review
If you should ever end up in Repino, a visit to the painter Ilya Repin's last home, where he died, and also is buried, is a very interesting experience. Not only is it interesting to learn about the painter, but also to get insight into the history of this area, which became a part of the Soviet Union while he lived and worked here. The place is now a museum, and it is required to take a guided tour to get inside the main building. They have soundtracks during the tour in a bunch of languages. During our visit, we got English guiding, and right behind us they arranged for a visitor from China.

Churches & Cathedrals
Morskoy Sobor Svyatitelya Nikolaya Chudotvortsa, also known as the Naval Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kronstadt, is a stunning Russian Orthodox cathedral constructed in the early 20th century to serve as the main church for the Russian Navy. Although it was repurposed several times over the years, it was eventually reinstated as a place of worship by the Russian Orthodox Church.
Worth visiting 30 minutes on the bus from Peterhof. 1km. slow walk from ิus stop. You may be could not find any better than with exception for St.Isaac Cathedral. Without admission fee. you can feel even better. You can sense feeling of greatness of the place and sense of local on the same time. It was considered on the best in St. Petersburg
Khrongsak L — Google review
One of the most beautiful cathedrals in St. Petersburg! Location is pretty far, but you can see cityscape and surroundings
Aleksey S — Google review
Really beautiful building with an interesting history, built and paid for by the sailors of Kronstadt, restored back to it's full original splendour. Definitely worth a visit when in St Petersburg. It is a bit of a mission to get there, it is close to Peterhof however.
IGuideU — Google review
The Naval Cathedral of St. Nicholas is truly the heart and soul of Kronstadt — a breathtaking masterpiece that perfectly blends spirituality, history, and architecture. From the moment you see its golden dome rising above the city, you understand why it’s often called the “Naval St. Isaac’s Cathedral.” The exterior is majestic, but the real magic begins once you step inside. The interior is filled with shimmering mosaics, marble floors, and intricate icons, all dedicated to the memory of Russian sailors who lost their lives at sea. The atmosphere is both solemn and awe-inspiring. Whether you’re religious or simply love art and history, this cathedral leaves a deep emotional impression. The acoustics are amazing — if you’re lucky, you might even hear the choir during a service. The cathedral stands on Anchor Square, surrounded by naval monuments and museums, which makes it the perfect centerpiece of a day trip to Kronstadt. Tip: Visit in the late afternoon for the best sunlight on the domes and fewer crowds. ⭐ Rating: 5/5 — A must-see landmark and one of the most beautiful churches in Russia.
Savant ' — Google review
This remains a functional church, also with a second floor (no tourist access) meaning the interior is less grandiose and relatively small, however no less ornate than other churches you may visit. Worth a visit of you have some extra time, the most beautiful views are from the exterior with the baby blue facade.
Sourav B — Google review
Definitely worth visiting if you're on travel trip in Kronstadt. It has 3 levels and you can get on every of these levels. I recommend visiting the top level, it is located under the dome and you can observe whole city from there.
Denis T — Google review
Beautiful church. It offers to buy candles and other souvenirs from this church. It is close to parks and the harbor. Definitely worth a visit. Dress modest when visiting. Best is to bring a shawl for ladies, because they require the head to be covered. They provide shawls in case you do not have one. No restroom inside, but there are restrooms closeby, you have to pay though.

Menshikovskiy Dvorets

Museum
Specialty Museums
The Menshikovskiy Dvorets is a large palace and park complex in the suburbs of Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was originally built between 1714 and 1730 for Field Marshal VI Ivan Muscovite Menshikov, one of the most powerful men of his age. The palace now houses the Museum of Russian Art and contains several art galleries, as well as an extensive collection of sculpture.
A gorgeous palace with intense meaning for my family as many of my ancestors were Volga Germans who first came to Russia from Western and Southwest Germany via Saint Petersburg, arriving first at the gates of the Oranienbaum, some possibly greeted by Catherine The Great herself from her balcony, many of the Germans having been invited to Russia while she was Empress. The gardens are stunning and we only bought tickets for these outer courtyards but it was moving to stand where my immigrant ancestral grandparents likely also stood as they entered Russia en route to a new life on the Volga.
Nate L — Google review
It a very beautiful building with plenty of space to walk in the garden, however what is weird is the amount of guards taking care that nobody steps on the grass, they literally shout at people who steps on the grass. Otherwise it is such a great place to visit and avoid crowds, while still being amazed with the scale of beauty and the level of life they used to live.
Valeria A — Google review
The groups to enter the museum has to be only 20 people, no more no less. Which creates a nuisance if the park is empty. The staff is also unfriendly. The shoe covers are slippery on the polished wooden floors (very accident prone combination). The history of the place was mostly omitted. The lecture is given mostly about the furniture.
Anastasia S — Google review
Beautiful big park, although currently (July 2016) half of it is unavailable due to reconstruction. Lots of alleys to walk, benches to sit, ponds, flowers, palaces. At the moment free admission (also cause of reconstruction).

Nice castle near the most known Petergof. It was built by the Peter the Great's right hand. The castle is still on ongoing restoration, so many rooms are still closed to the public. Lately they opened the church, worth for a visit,. The 1st part is made of audiovisual contents about the history of the aeea and why Menshikov became so important and powerful. In the 2nd part you visit the central building where there are beautiful restored private rooms. This part is described by a tourguide, available in russian and english. There is also the pissibility to take an audioguide.
Alessandro A — Google review
Great relaxing place to be out in nature, surprisingly low crowds for being the beginning of tourist season. Bring a cooler, lots of places to picnic and gave some beer/wine at.
William B — Google review

Pia M — Google review
Interesting place to visit. We were there in winter. We had lots of snow and the palace was at restavration. Definitely want to go there in summer. Although we were in winter and it was cold, there were people working in the palace, guards and stuff who were very kind and answering every question in details. They even tried to explain us a bit about the palace, how it is in summer etc. If you are for more days in spb, or simply live here, you should visit the place. The road is worthed :) however if you are short with time, i guess it is better to see the places and palaces that sre more famous

(Translated by Google) Great place, we visited on a weekday, I was delighted. The only negative: due to a corporate event, the children's playroom was closed, but we found something to keep the baby (1.5 years old) occupied. Reasonable prices, adequate guys on the slopes, and the slopes are super 👍 both beginners and athletes ski, there are slopes with springboards, 2 lifts per slope and all are located nearby Now this is my favorite place ❤️ I recommend it to everyone 👍 (Original)

(Translated by Google) Our favorite Eco-trail. Along the entire route there are information stands with interesting information about the inhabitants of the reserve, and there are signposts. The paths are well equipped. There are benches and gazebos for relaxing and picnics. But if you suddenly get tired, you can shorten the route (there are also signs). We visited last time in March 2024, not the most beautiful time of year, and still had a great time. There is a small parking area right in front of the trail. The downside is that there are a lot of trees with bark beetles (or something like that). I'm afraid that next time we come there will be nothing to see.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful forest. Not a bad route. It's better to arrive early in the morning. Then there are a lot of people. There is a parking lot but it is not very big. On weekends, it is better to park in advance and walk a little. In winter the trail is quite slippery. By the way, entry is free. In winter, if there is snow, it’s definitely worth coming and taking a walk.

Although in some places it’s more convenient to go down/ascend not using steps, I’m nearby) The path leads twice to a stormy river. There are side trails to get off and shorten the route. Very clear signs. There are also gazebos and picnic tables in several places along the trail. I regretted a little that I didn’t take a thermos and a snack with me. SJ4 Fort Poppius (Mannerheim Line)

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
The SJ4 Fort Poppius, also known as the Mannerheim Line, is a captivating historical site. It offers a unique and intriguing glimpse into the Finnish war. This landmark holds great significance and is well worth a visit for those with an interest in history. The fortifications themselves are impressive, showcasing the strength that once protected this strategic location.
(Translated by Google) Looks scary in cloudy weather! And there is a feeling as if the soldiers are sitting in the trenches and watching us! Fort Poppius, also known as fortification SJ4, was part of the Mannerheim Line, a Finnish defensive line created in the 1930s to protect the Karelian Isthmus from the Army of the Soviet Union. This fort became one of the key sites of the line due to its strategic location. The fort was a powerful concrete fortification equipped with underground rooms, casemates for artillery guns and machine gun emplacements. The thickness of the walls reached 2 meters, which made it practically invulnerable to artillery attacks. It was designed for a crew of several dozen soldiers, who were provided with supplies for a long time. Historical significance: During the Soviet-Finnish War (1939–1940), Fort Poppius played an important role for the Finnish Army. The Finns demonstrated high skill and discipline, and the facility itself withstood massive attacks and artillery shelling. As a result, despite Finland's defeat in the war, the Mannerheim line, including Poppius, went down in history as a symbol of resistance. Today, the remains of this fortification are a popular destination for military history researchers and tourists. Massive concrete structures, mossy with time, and traces of past battles create a unique atmosphere, returning us to the dramatic events of the past. There are many defensive structures throughout the forest; not far from this place there is a “Bunker of Death” and other bunkers.

Many fortifications are easy to find and can be reached by any car. Not only are the fortifications impressive, but also the force that tore them apart.

The clock tower has been anticipating visitors for an extended period. Admission is exclusively granted through guided tours, available to those aged 12 and above. The staircase leading to the observation deck is positioned at a near-vertical angle, making it a challenging ascent; however, the panoramic view from the top is stunning.
(Translated by Google) Unfortunately, we bought a tour, but didn’t get to the tower. Either we misunderstood, or the information on the site needs to be corrected. The excursion time is indicated there, for example from 11 to 12 o'clock. Can't you just write that the tour starts exactly at 11.00? The tower is very interesting, it’s a shame we didn’t get to visit it.

(Translated by Google) The tower is beautiful on the outside and interesting on the inside. The observation deck has a beautiful view of the city; you can only get to it with a guided tour. I really liked the excursion, the guide was a great guy, he spent an hour telling a lot of interesting things about the history of the tower and the city, showed the workings of the clock mechanism, and helped everyone take photos on the observation deck. Tickets for the excursion can only be purchased on the website in advance for a certain time; if you are even a minute late, you will not be allowed in, the door to the tower will be closed. Such rules are understandable, because the wooden staircase inside the tower is not wide and quite steep, the observation deck is small, and all this is not suitable for unorganized crowds of people. And the guide cannot leave the group and run up and down the steep stairs to open the door at every knock. So buy your tickets in advance, don't be late, and everything will be great.

In the opening you can see the Clock Tower, which was once the bell tower of the Cathedral, then for some time it served as the bell tower of the Transfiguration Cathedral. The clock tower has been beautifully restored, but the observation deck is closed in the winter, from November to the end of April, so we were not able to enjoy the bird's eye view of the city in January. There is a reason to return to the summer. (Translated by Google) The Vyborg Clock Tower could tell a lot. For 529 years she has been looking at the city, at the successive generations of people. It was originally the bell tower of the Church of St. Mary and St. Olaf (cathedral). It was built, according to sources, in 1494. It burned, changed its appearance and functionality. The clock mechanism in the tower has been in operation since 1848. The door is padlocked. You can’t just get into the building and the observation deck: only organized excursions and only with prior purchase of tickets on the website (THE MUSEUM). In winter and autumn, access to the observation deck is not permitted. There is a strange art object next to the tower. A door with the inscription “All power to cats” and pockets for correspondence with cats.

A century later, a clock appeared on the belfry and from that time on it began to be called the Clock Tower. . The tower burned repeatedly. After each fire it was repaired and transformed. I will post photos of the changes in stories. . In the 18th century, the bell tower acquired a superstructure, on the first tier of which a clock was installed. The upper part of the superstructure was occupied by an alarm bell, donated by Catherine II. From that time on, the Clock Tower served as a fire tower. . The tower clock also changed more than once. Vyborg Castle State Museum is a medieval Swedish fortress located on an island in Vyborg Bay. Originally built in 1293, the castle has undergone significant alterations over the centuries. It now serves as a local history museum with various exhibition halls. One of its main attractions is St Olafs Tower, offering panoramic views of the town. The castle symbolizes the city's rich history, which has played a significant role in the histories of Sweden, Finland, and Russia.
I visited the Vyborg Castle State Museum and was thoroughly impressed by its beauty. The castle itself is a stunning example of medieval architecture, set against the picturesque backdrop of Vyborg. The museum offers a rich display of historical artifacts, providing deep insights into the region's history. Walking through its ancient halls and climbing its towers was like stepping back in time. The scenic views from the top are breathtaking and well worth the climb. Overall, the Vyborg Castle State Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in history and architecture.

Museums are definetely not worth it, but you should 100% stroll around the castle itself. Very nice views, vibes are different from other places in the whole country (well it is the only real preserved medieval castle in all of Russia). 100% recommend but DO NOT TAKE PHOTOS with people dressed like knights and ladies, they will take all your money and then some!

Worth enough to visit ! The museum tell us a lot about the history of Vyborg. Most of discriptions are written in Russian but unexpectedly there are some English, also! +At the end of October, some parts of the castle were under construction so I couldn't see the whole Tips: They offer a special discount for Russian student card holders! And I'm not sure about international student ID card but at least we can try it :)

Nestled in the charming city of Lappeenranta, southeastern Finland, the Lappeenranta Fortress is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends history with culture. This impressive 18th-century fortress complex was originally constructed during the Swedish era and later expanded by Russian forces, reflecting centuries of conflict between these two nations. As you wander through its well-preserved ramparts, you'll not only be transported back in time but also treated to stunning views of Lake Saimaa and the picturesque city bay.
Nice to walk around all the buildings on a sunny day! You can learn about the different places and their history. There are also great views to the waterfront and it's a short distance from all key locations in Lappeenranta. I would recommend coming by foot rather than car as you can get the most out of the visit by walking.

It is one of the best tourist attractions in the sea town of Kotka. Kotka is already famous as sea port of Finland and Sapokka Water Garden is added feather in its beauty. Though the waterfall looks artificial, and it’s artificial, the scenic beauty around the park is tremendous. The live fishes in the adjacent pool/lake gives it an authentic attraction. It’s not that kid’s friendly that is kids can’t move around unattended. There are some free parking spaces around. You will find some fine dine restaurants around.

Kotka's best-kept magical secret. A waterfall-fed dreamscape disguised as a public park. Feels like stepping into a Miyazaki film—serene, chaotic, natural, and oddly punk. Perfect for a quiet stroll, deep thoughts, or dramatic selfies. Bonus: ducks.
Niehku S — Google review
By far one of the best parks, I have visited in all of Finland. Why though? The first reason is the awesome location of the park. Very easily assessable by both, public transport and cars. The park is situated at the tip of the island and the city of Kotka. The second reason is the very beautiful waterfall and the lake where it leads. By far the best waterfall that I have seen in Southern Finland. And the third reason is the beautiful vegetation of the park. There is all from beautiful peonies to cool-looking and well in blending trees.

Maritime Centre Vellamo is a striking attraction designed to resemble a wave, housing the Finnish Maritime Museum and Kymenlaakso Museum. The state-of-the-art dockside museum showcases Finland's seafaring history, featuring the world's third-oldest ice-breaker, Tarmo, along with exhibitions on shipwrecks, navigation, fishing, and logging. Visitors can also explore various cultural and historical exhibitions suitable for both children and adults.
It's an amazing place to visit, the collections is well maintained, even a boat from 19somethings is still in a perfect condition. One of museum that worth it to visit in Finland.

Nice museum that we spent more time in than we thought. There is a lot to see.

Langinkoski Imperial Fishing Lodge, located in the scenic Kotka region of Finland, is a historical gem that offers visitors a peek into the lavish lifestyle of the Russian nobility. Once a favored fishing spot of Emperor Alexander III and his family, this rustic wooden lodge was built in 1889 and now serves as a museum. Nestled amidst wooded grounds and the salmon-rich Kymijoki's rapids, it provides an idyllic setting for history and nature enthusiasts to explore.
I have wanted to see the Lodge for many years. You need a car to get here as there is no direct way on public transport. The museum was closed for winter but still great to see the environment and buildings
Scottdennis — Google review
Impressive place to visit nature and history at once. This is complex of different buildings and natural places of interests, so you can make a hiking and enjoy it fully. Everything is well-preserved and kept in original view, as it was not destroyed for couple of centuries. They have museum in main house, but you can visit the territory for free without entering museum. Highly recommended!
Alesia G — Google review
You can feel the history there. Really ordinary place to visit and very beutiful environment. Warmly recommend.
Sari S — Google review
Very beautiful place to learn about the history of Finland and the uniqueness of Kotka’s geography. It was a surprise because the lodge is very rustic and simple, completely contrasts my initial thought that it would be extravagant like any other examples of Royal Russian arcitecture. The whole premise is more like an urban park than a museum, where you can stroll around and admite the scenery.
Minh L — Google review
Beautiful scenery and plenty to see for free, as only the main lodge house is the museum. Toilets are free to use. The museum entry fee is a bit on the high end considering how small the space is, that said the guides were knowledgeable and told us about the place without us booking a guided tour (our party was the only one in at that moment!).
Minna R — Google review
Really good place to see the rapids and visit the river. We were there a but late so the lodge wasn't open for public anymore (closed at 6pm) but still it was good visit. There are good paths to explore the area on your own and also comprehensive signs that give you good knowledge of the area's history as Tsar's fishing place.
Jari K — Google review
Such a lovely Place. Maybe not worth the 8 EUR to go in but nice to think one is supporting the place with the entrance ticket. Worth a stop!
Clapar P — Google review
Oh the view's amazing! There's a distinct weird smell - prolly the fishes, not sure. Haha. But the nature's exquisite enough to make you ignore the smell. It was end of winter when we visited and some parts of the river was still frozen but the rest of the waters were moving so it's very relaxing. Really felt close to nature.

Water Park Tykkimäki Aquapark is a recently opened open-air aqua park that offers modern showers, saunas, and over a thousand lockers. With three slopes, including a parallel slalom slide and a U-type slide attraction, as well as a pool and water playgrounds, it's an ideal destination for friends and family on hot days. The park also features friendly personnel, a cafe, snack bar, and excellent water slides suitable for both children and adults.
Very good open air aqua park! Opened recently it is never overcrowded. It is equipped by modern showers and saunas. There are about one thousand lockers and this is more than enough. There are 3 slopes, one slide for parallel slalom and one U-type slide down attraction. There is a pool and couple of water playgrounds. I would recommend to go here with friends and family any hot day! I wish there were more hot sunny days in Finland.
Andrey S — Google review
Overall good, but water is too cold. We were freezing although it was sunny +25 degrees weather.
Elina G — Google review
When I was going down the water slide today (the one which you slide head forward) the water came into my throat and I could not breathe for half a minute or so. That was really scary, I was thinking that I am going to die. Luckily the water came out of my throat and I started breathing normally. The lifeguard came to me almost immediately, which is good. I think that the design of this water slide should be reconsidered to avoid such situations ☝️
Evgeny S — Google review
Icy cold water: even in hot day it's too cold. Lines to water slides are organized ineffectively. It's better to spend some more time and go to Helsinki.
Pavel — Google review
Very fun place on a hot summer day. Water feels too cold to enjoy on a regular/cool summer weather.
Anne A — Google review
Clean and safe. Great customer service. Two major issues for us were the cold water and the restaurant. The fact that the water in the pools is cold made us reluctant to get into the pools and slides. Wouldn’t recommend a visit if it’s not a hot summer day and no wind. The other thing was the restaurant. I hate it when you have to pay much more than normally and you get subpar portions. Please at least add some lettuce and tomatoes on the hamburgers.
Petri R — Google review
Slides and facilities are good. But the music pumped everywhere... Holy Macaroni. About 10 of the worst songs ever on repeat, over and over again. It's like being in some kind of sonic easy-listening hell. It makes you want to stay underwater. After a while I wondered if the metal fence around the place is to stop you from ecaping. But actually it was quite easy to leave.
Will J — Google review
We visited couple of days before Midsummer with 2 kids (7 and 10 year old). Everything is quite new and in good condition. There is enough personnel and the personnel was friendly. Also a cafe and snack bar available. Really great water slides for children but also for adults! Also very nice pools. I can recommend this.

Arboretum Mustila is a large park featuring forest paths, sculptures, and a stunning display of spring-flowering azaleas and rhododendrons. The arboretum, established over a century ago, boasts an impressive variety of rare tree species and other plants. Visitors can explore picturesque routes surrounded by exotic plants with name tags while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
An important piece of Finnish gardening history and a wonderful place to walk few kilometers, have a picnic, or a soup lunch in cafe. Some paths are wide and easy, some not so. Do not expect a well manicured park or garden. This is a forest.
Esa A — Google review
On the 30th of April we drove here to see the floral forest with wooden art. After we paid the tickets we chose the longest path. Little did we know that we actually came too early in the season, beacause all plants and flowers were yet to open up. Since the main reason for visiting was to see the flowers and plants, it was very unfortunate that we didn't get informed by the staff. Because, where did we pay for in the end? We've been fooled, but finished the walk through te ordinary forest. At least we enjoyed the nice weather and wooden sculptures.
Jessica — Google review
Great variety of rare tree species and other plants. Beautiful sceneries too. There is a cafeteria where you can have lunch, coffee, sweets and ice cream. You can also buy tree saplings of many different species.
Negitoro — Google review
There is no nicer future gift to the next generations than someone planting a tree ... and this is exactly what the Mustila Arboretum is about as we are enjoying many such trees today that were planted slightly over a century ago. One of the key features are the rhododendrons and the azaleas ... plan your visit between the 20th of May and the 20th June for the perfect flowering time. Another key feature are the acer ... aim for the "ruska" time in early fall. This is a perfect outing on a nice day!!!

Absolutely stunning azalea season this year. Not too managed, the entire area retains a wild-like character. Worth visiting from early spring to late autumn.

Sights & Landmarks
Porvoo Cathedral, located in the enchanting Porvoo Old Town, is a small 13th-century cathedral that was originally constructed with wood and later fortified with stone walls. The cathedral, an Evangelical Lutheran church built in the 15th century with some parts dating back to the 13th century, stands as one of Finland's oldest churches. It serves as the seat of the Swedish-speaking Diocese of Borga and offers a picturesque view from the nearby hill.
One of the best Cathedrals in Finland. Really enjoyed the time and peaceful environment there. The numbers on the wall, I didn't get it, was that roman chapters/verse numbers from Bible? I don't know but the place was extremely peaceful and very historical. I'd recommend this for any tourist visiting Porvoo city in Finland.
Sunny S — Google review
Located in the heart of Porvoo, this small cathedral features simple architecture and a calm atmosphere. The second floor is closed to visitors, yet the main hall still feels welcoming. At the entrance you can pick up postcards and other souvenirs, selecting the design or author you like, with an offer of your choice. I suggest visiting at least once.

Built in the 15th century with some parts from the 13th century, this is a small church in a quaint town with lots of history. If you're staying in Helsinki, I'm not sure it's worth the drive, but I am glad I went and got to see Porvoo.

Old Town Bed and Breakfast Ida-Maria is a charming B&B located in a historic building dating back to the 1600s. The rustic rooms offer a cozy and comfortable stay, with amenities such as a lounge, sauna, and free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy delicious meals at the traditional small restaurant on-site, which has been serving for two decades. The staff is known for their exceptional service and accommodating nature, allowing early check-ins and luggage storage.
The apartment we stayed in was even nicer in real life than the pictures showed. We were very happy about our stay, and the staff was very service-oriented and accommodating to our needs. We could check in a little bit earlier than usual, and also leave our luggage for some hours after checking out, while we were strolling around in the old town before taking out bus back to Helsinki. Thank you for a wonderful comfortable stay!

Charming bed and breakfast spot in Porvoo. A shame we only stayed one night but the accomodations were cozy and inviting. The room we stayed in had a kitchen as well as a spacious living room. The living room had a nice view of the river. It was in the center of the town and easily accessible to the old and newer areas of Povoo. This would be a nice place for summer trip with the family.
Myo K — Google review
Very cute B&B along the river in Porvoo, Finland. I stayed in the Star Room, which is a bit separated from the main property. Owner knocked on the door as I arrived. He apparently also owns the nearby restaurant Ranta-aitta, which had its commissary and bathrooms across from the property. Be aware this property and its windows all face an alley that will have fairly heavy foot traffic in the afternoon/evening hours because of the restaurant. I immediately drew all the blinds when I entered the unit. Other than that privacy inconvenience, the location is fantastic, right on the main strip of the old town of Porvoo. Inside the unit you have a nicely functional kitchen and washer/dryer (which I used and was very convenient). There's two bathrooms, one with a shower and one without. Shower is a bit small and confining, but solid. The chairs in the kitchen were not super comfortable and the wifi didn't reach the bedroom very well, so if you need to do something online for a decent amount of time the unit isn't the most ergonomic solution for this situation. There is a piano in the unit! I did not play or know if it was actually encouraged but it's something to consider. There is access to a sauna that's across the street from the main property, which I used. Its heat doesn't get much higher than 60-70ºC but with plentiful water you can get enough steam for a good sweat. Breakfast was solid.

We (two adults) stayed at Ida-Maria in Jan/2021 for two nights in ”Pieni huoneisto, puutarhanäkymä”. The room was lovely, cozy and clean. Delicious breakfast and very good service! All of this in the heart of Porvoo Old Town. Would absolutely recommend to anyone.

Please with this. The garden is beautiful and the place itself is a walk into a history book. The building itself is stunning and the rooms nicely kept. You can see a lot of the old ornaments and catch a glimpse of the of how people lived during this period. The garden is stunning and well kept. The cafe is also a nice place to hang out and walk around.

Very interesting home museum of the Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius.
Juho Ä — Google review
After seen Sibelius Monument in Helsinki, it's just natural that one wants to see Ainola, the home of Jean and Aino Sibelius where they lived some half a century and which is now open for visitors as a home museum. The ticket price is 16 euro (summer25) which sounds a bit expensive if we think that the entrance costs to Kiasma, Ateneum and other big museums in Helsinki some 20 euroa. But maybe the ticket price doesn't matter so much if one is really interested in life of Finland's most famous composer.
Hannu T — Google review
A visit to Ainola had long been on my bucket list, so I arrived with high expectations. It's easy to see how the last 20 years or so of Sibalius' productive career, could have been influenced by such a stunning place. Today, the environment is a little spoiled by the proximity of a trunk road. But the house and gardens are unchanged since those days past, and you will appreciate the beauty and calm they install within you.

Winter World in Helsinki is a must-visit for those seeking an authentic Finnish winter experience. The indoor attraction maintains a chilly temperature of -3 degrees Celsius, allowing visitors to enjoy various activities such as an ice maze, dog sledding, and interacting with friendly huskies. It's a popular spot for families and groups of friends looking for unique experiences. The venue offers different activities like skiing and visiting the ice bar and igloo.
We only had a few hours to spend in Helsinki, but we loved Winter World. The staff was amazing and it was a highlight of our Baltic Sea cruise.

Fun experience, though it isn't huge inside so do not expect an "all day visit" so of thing. The ice maze was cool, no pun intended. The dogs were really sweet and playful. I did not pay for one of dog sled rides but did get to interact with them and pet them.
Ashley G — Google review
Nice place to visit. Big hall with different activities (ski, husky experience, ice bar, iglo, ...) we went with a big group of colleagues and made a lot of fun. Very friendly service. Loved it!
N. L — Google review
For the price you are paying for the entrance it's overpriced and not much of activities to do there. 1 ice slide and no hills at all to use the slays or ski. You won't spend there more than 20-30 min. Vodka shot is nice, but you only can get vodka from that ice bar, nothing else, would be nice if they actually had more drinks to offer. Not satisfied...

Great idea and lovely people working there BUT the sounds of the dogs barking/crying ruined my experience. Those poor animals, they obviously aren't happy there. Would have enjoyed myself a lot more if there weren't dog slaves.

Museums
Heureka is a renowned science center located in Vantaa, Finland. It features a main exhibition with over 200 interactive scientific exhibits from various fields, a world-class digital planetarium, and a science park. The center aims to spark an interest in science among children through its hands-on and interactive displays. Additionally, Heureka hosts two temporary exhibitions and has provided traveling exhibitions to numerous countries worldwide. The center's focus on making learning fun and engaging is in line with Finland's progressive educational approach.
Amazing Science Learning Experience at Heureka Science Centre👍👍 Located in Tikkurila, the Heureka Science Centre is an incredible place that makes learning both fun and effective. This Finnish museum offers a unique, hands-on experience that allows schoolchildren to explore science in an engaging and interactive way. After spending just one or two days here, students can easily absorb knowledge equivalent to two or three years of a standard school science curriculum – and enjoy every minute of it! In addition to the main exhibition, Heureka regularly features fascinating themed sections that provide even deeper learning experiences. We were lucky to visit during the Experience the World in the Last Ice Age exhibition, which focused on the amazing animals that lived during that period. The life-sized models were so realistic they felt almost alive, creating an unforgettable and immersive atmosphere that truly brought the Ice Age to life. The exhibitions are creative, well-designed, and accessible to children of different ages. Everything is built to inspire curiosity and understanding through play, discovery, and experimentation. I highly recommend Heureka to families, educators, and anyone interested in making science come alive.

We had a fantastic time at the Heureka Science Museum! It’s the perfect spot for both kids and adults who love to explore, discover, and get hands-on with science. The exhibitions are interactive, creative, and beautifully designed to make learning fun and engaging. Our favorites were ice age exhibitions and the outdoor science park, which added an extra layer of excitement. Everything is well-organized, and most exhibits are available in multiple languages, including English and Finnish. Highly recommended for families, tourists, and anyone who enjoys a day full of curiosity and wonder!
Valentina M — Google review
Space exhibition was definitely worth a visit. My first visit to Heureka was over 30 years ago, but it still keeps surprising and the exhibitions are always interesting. Ice age moving mammoths and other animals were also interesting as usually you only experiment those as still standing setups. Visited it this on a regular Sunday, but might be interesting to visit during the themed NOX evening, when whole place is K18 and specific themed program is available as well.
Miika K — Google review
Very nice and well executed science museum full of varied exhibits and demonstrations that take place throughout the day. The Ice Age animal exhibition was my favorite and my son really loved getting to build and test his own race car. This is a great way to spend several hours either the family! And the cafe has excellent food as well.
Kelly M — Google review
You can't but tickets online the same day, this is kind of strange. The parking is on the other side on the railroad – another oddity. The science center is huge and impressive though. Went here with two kids : 5 and 2.5. The older one was excited to try everything, however the most interesting things require 140cm of height and were unavailable for him. The small one was scared of the ice age animals but otherwise liked the museum. The cafe is extremely expensive, the buffet is mediocre. I'd recommend this place for 10+

Heureka is one of the must visit place in Vantaa. They havr variety of things(especially science and technology) to do and to see especially with kids, many creative, active, imaginative activities are available.
