(Translated by Google) the zoo is just awful, all the animals sit in their little cubicles, don't come out into the light. no one to look at!!!!!! in all the cages there are only pigeons and sparrows, and who needs these roosters that everyone has at their dacha!! those on the outside look sickly bad 😬😬😬 the terrarium is only open until 15:00!!!!!!!! and the bridge.. my favorite ... they broke it and closed it 😔 very dirty, unsanitary conditions everywhere........ I won't even mention the price!!!! 13 rubles, well, that's incomprehensible!!!!!1!!........ the woman at the checkout was completely impudent, tried to rip me off for 10 rubles in change..... and didn't even apologize... I don't recommend it to anyone, it's better to just look at pictures on Google... definitely won't set foot here again....😣 (Original)

(Translated by Google) Such a wonderful, beautiful city, but the Zoo did not live up to our expectations. Terrible conditions for animals. Small cages, only a floor and a couple of branches. No trees inside, no normal locations. The fence and everything else is from the Soviet Union, they could have redone it. We were in the animal park in Baranovichi, Minsk, everything is very beautiful there, at a height, and here we wasted our money. It was a pity for the animals, it's hot, and they have nowhere to hide from the sun, they lie on the sand and die ((( (Original)

(Translated by Google) The bird exhibit was decent, since most bird species are usually kept as pets. The mammal exhibit, especially the large predators, was extremely depressing. The bears and monkeys were pacing back and forth in a state of zoochosis. The bear enclosures were all concrete and stone, no greenery, just a dirty pond where they could cool off. The ungulates were also kept in small enclosures, with virtually no greenery. The toucan was either sick or very stressed, and was going bald. This zoo was the first place where I felt sorry for the hyena. I am not a fan of zoos in general, but the enclosures could have been made bigger, so that they would have been more interesting and natural for their inhabitants.

(Translated by Google) We were on holiday in Grodno and decided to visit the zoo. Unfortunately, we were very upset and saddened that such prisons for poor animals still exist. Nowadays, zoos should meet modern standards. Animals and birds should be kept as in nature, where there is enough space for their normal existence, lifestyle, needs. And not in cages, where, one might say, there is no room to turn around. A real nightmare. I am sure that the government of Belarus has enough resources to build a normal wildlife park! I wish you to do this. Also think about equipping the park with sufficient stations where you can buy water, food, where children can play, a room for mothers and children to change diapers, etc. In general, this is unacceptable in our time. It is a pity to see this.

The Great Synagogue, also known as Bolshaya Sinagoga, stands as a poignant reminder of the rich religious diversity that once thrived in the region. Visitors can explore a small museum of Jewish history within the synagogue.

Pharmacy and Museum Biotest NPK

Mentioned on

Pharmacy
Museums
Pharmacy and Museum Biotest NPK is situated in the heart of Grodno, near the Catholic Cathedral. The museum showcases the history of pharmacies and pharmaceuticals, with a focus on their connection to Catholic monastic orders. Visitors can explore elegant and minimalist displays of medical instruments and historical artifacts reflecting the evolution of pharmacy. Additionally, there is a functioning pharmacy on-site with a separate historical room for an educational experience.
A small one room museum. It's free to visit. Great to pop in and just spend a few minutes there. The explanations are in Russian, but there are just a few of them anyway. It was fun to just look at the old medicine bottles and other stuff along those lines.

The premises contain a regular functioning pharmacy and a mini museum in a separate room. Admission is free, but a photo costs 1 BYN, payment only in cash. The staff is unfriendly. There are few exhibits. There is a tour for about 20 BYN, a group ticket is 20 BYN (Original) Honestly, there were no special expectations, but we were delighted with the tour! Very interesting and informative! Our tour also included a tasting of Garadzenskaya Garbata tea. Very tasty tea! We immediately bought tea sets as a gift) It is very convenient that you can take the tea with you. (Translated by Google) As a pharmacy - not bad, very beautiful and atmospheric. As a museum - interesting. But the employee who called herself a tour guide is terrible - rude, unprofessional, clearly uneducated even in her field of work and, as a cherry on the cake, when I started asking the most basic questions I received insults. The complaint book was also not brought out, under the pretext of "we do not have a complaint book" I do not advise anyone to take the tour! Free entry - yes, the tour - no!

There are many interesting exhibits - there is an exhibition dedicated to the preparation of medicines from herbs; jars of medicine that are 100 years or more old; ancient medical instruments, reference books, etc. Here you can also buy magnets with the image of Grodno (one of the most inexpensive in the city, by the way), souvenir soap (6 rubles), “Garadzenskaya garbata” (medicinal tea). During my visit to the museum, this thought never left me - what a blessing that we live now, when medicine is at such a high level! :) I would not like to experience the effect of all these instruments and jars.

Nestled in the historic city of Grodno, Belarus, the Kalozha Church of St. Boris and Gleb stands as a testament to ancient architecture, dating back to the 12th century. This iconic Eastern Orthodox church is celebrated for its unique blend of brick and natural stone construction, adorned with intricate ceramic tiles that embellish its walls.
Words can't express what I felt staring at this ancient astonishing church! I believe the renovation was done at its finest to recreate as closely as possible the building's original look.

Historic place. Borisoglebsk Church, Kolozhskaya Church or simply Kolozha is one of the surviving architectural structures of Belarus from the period of Old Russia. The only surviving (in distorted form) monument of black Russian architecture. Located on the high bank of the Neman River. Together with the complex of monuments of Zamkovaya Gora it is declared a historical and architectural reserve. Sights & Landmarks
Old Castle, also known as Grodno Old Castle or Hrodna Upper Castle, is a historic fortress located in the heart of Grodno, Belarus. Built in the 11th century, it offers visitors a glimpse into the region's rich history and architectural heritage. The castle houses a museum with artifacts from different historical periods including stone age findings, items from the Great Duchy of Lithuania era, World War II objects and more.
The Old Castle in Grodno is a truly fascinating historical site that offers a deep dive into the medieval history of Belarus. The location is stunning, perched on a hill overlooking the Neman River, and the views are absolutely breathtaking. Walking through the castle grounds feels like stepping back in time. Some areas are currently under renovation, but it doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The museum inside is small but interesting, with artifacts that give insight into the region’s past. If you’re visiting Grodno, this place is a must-see — both for history lovers and anyone who enjoys beautiful architecture and panoramic landscapes! 🏰 We were here on Belarus Independence Day 🙌

The Old Castle in Grodno or Hrodno as it is known locally looks very interesting and has a great view over the river. Unfortunately the castle was closed when we visited and it looks like there is some building work going on so perhaps it is being refurbished. I would like to go back and visit sometime and have a proper look around. The Old Castle is next door to the New Castle which looks more like a stately home or similar then a castle.
Phillip W — Google review
The castle is well preserved, old an important to Lithuania. But the museum is terrible, both infrastructure and the whole second floor, talking about the 'great history of Communism'.

A well and lovely museum of the history of Grodna and also of the flora and fauna around the city. Everyone who is interested in Grodna should look in.

The castle is pretty good itself. There are a lot of beautiful views here to the city, to the river and parks. Very rear you can see some performance here (actually never saw myself). The museum inside is not so good and not about the castle in general. Really beautiful mosque I really had plan to visit but as I’m not living in Poland so it took many years to go there but finally I went there so peaceful but only regret that I could not pray in it as there was no one from administration to ask and on top language barrier too so may be next time

Very nice wooden mosque from the Polish tatar community. Worth a visit, it costs 5 zł and includes a guide with very good explanation. Also behind the mosque there's a cemetery from this community, also interesting to visit, apparently the oldest grave dates back to 1699.

4 stars for this perfect place. Better than Warmia and Mazury. There is a forest, beach, clean water, a place for tents, campers, parties, showers on the beach, observation tower, piers, marina. A great place for active and passive rest. The only minus is the bath open from 10:00 to 18:00. Shopping is better to do in Hajnówka or Białystok, because there is no store on the site. Perfect place for canoeists, cyclist and hikers, for everyone :)

(Translated by Google) It's a pity that the Church of the Holy Trinity Cathedral was closed, although it declared on the door that it was open to visitors. I can only say that the outside is beautiful. From the description on the outside, you can learn that this is not the original location of the church. Because at the back there are two stones indicating the original locations of the main and auxiliary altars. It's hard to recommend something that you haven't seen in its entirety. But please try, maybe someone will describe the interior rooms in the photos. (Original) Szkoda że, Cerkiew pw. Bialowieza National Park ( part under strick protection) . No man planted all the trees. Everything looks natural. If a tree falls, it stays there. There are European bisons here, bobcats, wolves and more. A lot of birds and wild flowers.

Marvellous primeval forest, we booked an English speaking tour guide in advance. Seen 600 year old oak still decaying and many more beautiful old trees and stories about the forest.
Albert L — Google review
Incredible forest. Massive trees. Great air. Plenty of birds, insects and fungi. Bison was elusive, apparently better to visit in the autumn, as during summer they tend to stay in the forest. Let yourself loose on the kilometers upon kilometres of forest roads. Bring your bike with u!
Marceli S — Google review
If you understand about flora you will like it not much fauna to see. If you are not keen on trees , better don't go , you can get a bit bored. For a walk it's good , for a guide visit it can be a bit boring, not much to see .
Dori ( — Google review
The park is very beautiful, and being in nature is really nice. But this is not the visit we were promised. They clearly told us that we would not see any bison at the begining of the visit, and the guides arrived thirty minutes late. We woke up at 3 a.m. for a walk that we could have done at 10, and we did it with a guide who was not very good. In conclusion, a failure.
NICOLÁS P — Google review
The park was very impressive. Our guided tour was excellent. The guide, Patryk, was incredibly knowledgeable on plant ecology and forest systems, and was easy to talk with. The mosquitos were very aggressive despite the liters of repellant we sprayed on us, that was also the only downside.

Great, beautiful hike. Keep in mind, this is NOT a 2.4 kilometer walk. Maybe in straight line, but NOT if you are following the path. In reality it's around 5 km one way.Definitely not for kids , if you are going to go all the way. We packed for a 2 hr walk and ended up walking over 8 miles in all. There are a lot of people on the path and even more mosquitos, so make sure you use deet before you enter ( unfortunately it does not repel people)

Light and pleasant walking. About 3 km in one way. Bicycles are prohibited. A lot of mosquitos.
Tikhon L — Google review
Advertised as "educational passage", but you will not find a single info board throughout its length. Nevertheless, it makes sense to spend ca. 2x35 minutes to walk both ways, a nice and natural experience
Wojciech F — Google review
This is a great walking path from free parking to Natural Bison Reserve. Half of the road is just forest path and other half is wooden path(it is slippery when wet so be careful). Parking is not big, so early arrival is recommended especially in the summer. Path is long about 2.7 km and can be completed on the wheelchair as no stairs in the way. Don't forget that you walk in National park so no open fire, no litter, don't pick mushrooms or flowers and don't walk of the path.

European Bison Show Reserve

Nature & Wildlife Areas
The European Bison Show Reserve is a captivating wildlife haven that offers visitors the chance to explore walking paths while observing majestic bison, wolves, and elk in their natural surroundings. Nestled near the Bialowieza National Park, this reserve provides a unique opportunity to see European bison up close—something that's quite rare in protected areas. For a modest entrance fee of 20 zlotys, guests can delve into fascinating museum exhibits that detail the history and biology of these magnificent creatures.
Great nature reserve with big enclosures, and yet much wildlife to discover and observe from close up (with a bit of luck and good timing). Saw some bad reviews about "nothing to see" which I can wholeheartedly object with a bunch of pictures of all the amazing animals we have encountered. Might be a bit day/time dependent. We visited in the morning and noon hours on a rather cool summer day and had a blast 🤩
Markus V — Google review
Almost not animals and those that are available to see are sleeping or hiding. Ticket is 25 PLN. Free parking.
Amarok S — Google review
The animals have plenty of space; the wolves hide best — we barely noticed them, as they were sweetly sleeping away from everyone among the trees. There is a playground. Two hours is more than enough for a leisurely walk. Large parking, there are ticket vending machines.

Definitely worth visiting. Ticket costs 25 zł and the whole park can be covered comfortably in an hour.
Sz G — Google review
Unfortunately, we didn’t see most of the animals. Not sure if they were hiding somewhere or simply not there. Since it was also very hot, the animals were very sluggish and mostly lying in the shade. Maybe it's better to visit on a cooler day, but I wouldn’t recommend it on a hot summer day.
Kerlit K — Google review
There is not much to see to be honest just like 4,5 similar animals and that’s all and it is not big too but they charging a lot like we were the family of 7 people and after all discounts and everything we paid 72Z which is not worth at all after driving that far no one us enjoyed not recommended at all

This place is very poorly maintained and almost feels abandoned. I've been to many skansens in Poland and this is by far the worst. A real shame.
Glenn S — Google review
I was surprised about this so called "skansen", because there are in total only two windmills, two wooden houses and two workshops, a stall and an orthodox chapel. Not much to see and part of these buildings is used as dwellings by private persons. The buildings were build in XX century, so there is nothing special about them. Disappointing.

(Translated by Google) The church was built in the 15th century. At the time when commander Suvorov lived in Kobrin, the church was located not far from his house. Suvorov was a pious man. In the temple there is a psalter of Suvorov. In Soviet times, the temple was not closed, thanks to the name of Suvorov, the communists spared this only temple. Worship services there did not stop for a single day. At the beginning of the twentieth century, they decided to move the wooden church to the outskirts of the city, and build a large stone temple in the center. In 1912, the church was consecrated in a new location. But the large stone temple was never built due to the outbreak of the First World War.

(Translated by Google) The Church of Peter and Paul in Kobrin was a good surprise. Over the past 2 years, I have begun to get used to the fact that in the beautiful Belarusian temples and churches there is a lack of some kind of kindness or something. Profound simplicity and understanding... But today I got to the Peter and Paul Church of Kobrin and a miracle began from the entrance to the territory, some girl came up, asked if it was my first time here, then she took me and showed me the whole temple! An unusually beautiful, ancient temple with an amazing history. The service is conducted by a young and, I would say, very diligent priest. You know, I want to say about him: “He Serves God.” Even in the shop that sells candles, there is a very friendly woman working. I couldn’t help myself, I looked at the temple building, I saw skillfully painted icons and much more. And you know, I was amazed even by the patches on the wooden doors, this place is so sacred and spiritually pure. I never saw a wheelchair for the disabled at the door, or a swing for children in the yard. In such churches people are closer to God! Thank you! Glory to the Lord!!!; Yes, I also wanted to say how they sing there! This is just a place where you feel closer to God!!!

Restoran Vokzala St. Brest-Tsentral'nyy

$$$$affordable
Restaurant
Restoran Vokzala St. Brest-Tsentral'nyy is a delightful spot that captures the essence of Belarusian cuisine with a touch of nostalgia. Nestled within the train station, this cozy cafeteria offers hearty dishes like borscht generously topped with sour cream and comforting mashed potatoes paired with savory meatballs. The cabbage and corn salad adds a refreshing crunch, while pineapple juice brings a hint of tropical sweetness to your meal.
Lots of space, good choice of typical belarussian food, professional and friendly service. I recommend this place if you ain't having much time and need to be close to the railway station, but being hungry.

This is actually in the Trip Advisor's top 10 for Brest. Draw your own conclusions. The Brest fortress is world class. The station? Well, a few nice bits of fiddly Stalinesque wedding cake design but not an essential tourist location by any means. There is a bar inside selling large cold cans of beer however. Now that is essential on the 4 hour trip back to Minsk...

(Translated by Google) Brest-Tsentralny treats you with style: borscht with so much sour cream, as if someone dropped half a village bowl in it; mashed potatoes with gravy, where meatballs play hide-and-seek; cabbage and corn salad, obviously collected between electric trains; and pineapple juice, yellow like dreams of the south, but with a taste of train station reality. Everything is simple, honest and without unnecessary sentimentality - like the announcement "Train is delayed indefinitely." I go in every time after a 5-hour stand at the border and clearly understand. I'm home.

The Railway Engineering Museum in Brest, Belarus is an outdoor museum that showcases the rich history of railways with over 50 locomotives and passenger cars on display. Visitors can explore the impressive collection, including rare instances of old steam engines that are no longer in use. Many of the exhibited trains are still operational and some even participate in filming movies. The museum offers a unique opportunity to sit in the drivers' cabin and experience railway history up close.
Amazing collection of old trains

Nice range of old steam and diesel trains from the USSR, with information boards including English. You can go inside a couple of the locomotives, but unfortunately your 10 ruble entry ticket doesn't allow entry to the passenger carriages, there's an extra R15 fee for those which I only found out when I asked the ticket woman on the way out (I didn't have time to go back in 😞). Make sure to ask when you buy your ticket! There are also a cafe and toilets on site.

Very beautiful place to visit.. Old trains are huge !! I loved it

I liked that there are no strict rules about the museum. You can touch, climb or visit the trains inside. No cameras or guards make this place very relaxed. Ticket is affordable too. Some of the trains are really old and fancy.

A good exposition, worth seeing for sure. However, we enjoyed a very similar museum in Baranovichy much more. In Baranovichy they treat their visitors much more warmly, and when we went there a couple of years ago there was a wonderful guide, who was very passionate about his job and who told us a great many of interesting things about engines and let us try a lot aff technical stuff for ourselves. In the Brest museum there were no excursions available at the time, so we had to make do with the very short- spoken plaques beside the exhibits.
Nadzeya Z — Google review
It a good place to see old locomotives and trains. But most of them are locked, as for me, the best ones. A little bit disappointed because of that but still it's a good and cheap museum in case you love trains.

Brest Fortress, also known as the Hero Fortress, is a 19th-century fortress located in Brest, Belarus. It gained its heroic title to honor its defense during the German-Soviet War of 1941-1945. The fortress features imposing ruins and a museum that provides background on the events of World War II. Visitors can explore artifacts and photographs from this period. The complex also includes a brutalist-style concrete memorial statue.
This place contains some very impressive and awesome Soviet era megamonuments! Fantastic to see and awe at their size and message

Brest Fortress is one of the most interesting and powerful places I have visited. It’s not just an old building — it’s a place full of history and emotions. During World War II, in June 1941, German soldiers attacked the Soviet Union. The Brest Fortress was one of the first places they attacked. Even though the Soviet soldiers were surrounded and had little food or water, they fought bravely for many days. Some continued to fight for weeks. Their story is amazing. Today, you can walk around the fortress and see many parts of it. There is a big monument called “Muzhestvo” — a giant stone face of a soldier. It really makes you think about what happened here. There is also a museum with old photos, letters, and things that belonged to the soldiers. Everything is shown in a very respectful and interesting way. The whole area is quiet and clean. It’s a good place to learn about history and to remember the brave people who were here. If you are in Brest, you should definitely visit this place. I spent about 2–3 hours here and it was totally worth it.

Impressive fortress complex, with several large monuments, especially "Courage", commemorating the battle fought here against the invading Nazis in June 1941. All very Soviet-style overly dramatic, but still impressive, and worth a visit. Entry to the fortress is free of charge.

if you are in Belarus, be sure to visit this place, the energy of this place is going through the roof. be sure to take a guide to the open part of the memorial complex. history must be known and remembered, and not as it is now fashionable to forget, turn over.

Good museum to give background to the events during WW2 that occurred at the fortress. Some displays are in English, but you can easily get the idea about the artifacts and photographs which have not been translated. Do not miss the excellent museum shop downstairs. Very reasonable prices on some interesting souvenirs, from coins to old bullets.

I recommend to visit this place if you are fan of military and history of wars. Place is amazing and really really big! I also suggest to visit it with guide because you could hear really great story about everything inside. There is a lot of military and culture accents so remember that you are visitor and you are guest here :)

Excavated remains of wooden dwellings from the 11th century displayed in a modern pavilion.
This is a very cool little museum built on top of a very special archeological site! It contains the excavated remains of an old town that used to thrive at this important location at the confluence of 2 rivers and trade routes!

It's quite a cool museum with its own downloadable app for listening to the exposition. The only problem - the app doesn't work without the internet which, actually, is rather poor in the place 😟 so, we were able to listen to only half of the materials, some of them we read, some couldn't open.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful place for those who are looking for peace and quiet close to God and nature. The sanctuary is beautiful and conducive to prayerful concentration. The pilgrim's house and the entire area have been maintained with great care, simple and without sacred kitsch. At the Jadłodajnia you can eat tasty meals all day long. Extensive gardens ideal for long walks. The Oblate Fathers are open and cordial, the employees are smiling and helpful. All this creates a unique atmosphere - I felt as if I was a long-awaited guest and at the same time as if I had arrived at home. In my room facing the gardens, you could fall asleep in complete darkness, listening to the sounds of the forest. Paradise. (Original) Wspaniałe miejsce dla tych, którzy szukają ciszy i spokoju blisko Boga i natury. Sanktuarium piękne i sprzyjające modlitewnemu skupieniu. Dom pielgrzyma i cały teren utrzymany z dużą dbałością, prosto i bez kiczu sakralnego. W Jadłodajni można zjeść smaczne posiłki przez cały dzień. Rozległe ogrody idealne do długich spacerów. Ojcowie Oblaci otwarci i serdeczni, pracownicy uśmiechnięci i pomocni. Raj.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful place, charming, atmospheric. The Monastery Complex includes a monastery and a building complex. Interestingly, for the first time in a long time I saw free-range chickens walking there and not confined to it. When visiting eastern Poland, you must stop here for a while. I do not recommend going further along the dirt road into the forest, because border guards may come out of it. The border is right there.
