Museum is along the lines of other such historic residences around Miscow area. Important difference is that children of Tyutchev decided to hand the mansion to the Soviets after the revolution, this way they avoided being plundered by the proletariat. Even though Tyutchev probably never been here, his children brought many of his belongings here, they even have a bed where he died. Nice location, nobility had plenty of time and resources to find the best area to enjoy life ))) Beautiful area in and out.

(Translated by Google) It has become a little easier for residents of the south of the Moscow region to get to the north. On the Simferopol highway there is an exit to the South-Eastern Expressway (SEH). And from the SE you get to the Moscow High-Speed Diameter (MSD). But the Yaroslavl highway is in a big traffic jam, perhaps in the future it will be possible to get to Muranovo in a couple of hours. But it's still almost 4 hours away. You can drive up to a large parking lot or to a church, everything is determined by the flow of tourists. The house certainly surprises with its non-standard architecture. But it's quite cozy inside. You will be told about its owners and guests during the excursion. Inside, the clocks and chandeliers were chosen by the previous owners for the house and this is the first thing that is visible. Lots of paintings and sculptures. The only pity is that the tour ends quickly. The territory is small, you can meet a descendant of Tyutchev, his house is nearby. The church is small and active. The poet and writer Yuri Mikhailovich Polyakov has a wonderful poem. "Do you remember, we wandered to Muranovo Following the cloud running across the azure, Not at all timid of that land, Where did the Russian poet Fyodor Tyutchev live...

(Translated by Google) Muranovo is a very atmospheric place. You can get there by bus from Sofrino, but we decided to take a taxi for three of us. We walked back for about an hour. The estate is small, but very cozy. It’s worth checking out the local cafe - everything is very tasty. The estate is a must-see; don’t spare 450 rubles for the excursion. I’ve been to many places, but I’ve never seen such a pristine, cozy atmosphere in a 19th century house. I liked it even more than the big Abramtsevo - it’s more intimate, the nature is more untouched. It was very calm and good, I didn’t want to leave. After walking around the estate, we walked around the surrounding area.

A very cool cafe "in the barn", delicious home-made food. Potatoes with pork are simply delicious, without onions, which is very important. (Translated by Google) A very beautiful, spiritual and picturesque place, excursions take place at different times. Great tour guide and very nice staff. The whole family had a great time: we went for a walk, attended 2 excursions, and tried pineapple soup. But we were a little shocked by the toilet rooms; it seemed like we were back in time. They naively believed that this problem had long been solved in museums near Moscow.

(Translated by Google) Quiet place. It's nice to go for a walk with your family and children. Purely. Login as of 07/2020 130 rubles for three: 2 adults and 1 child. The entrance to the main entrance was not found. We entered from the side of the house church. There is security there, employees will tell you how to get to the ticket office for tickets. A visit to the museum with a guided tour is a bit expensive: 400 rubles per adult and 350 rubles per child. We didn't get in because we arrived a little late, after 15-00... Delicious snack in a cafe: pancakes with jam and sour cream, pies, cutlets, etc., drinks. I liked Muranovo tea better chilled)) Nature is certainly impressive! A century-old linden alley, a grove around the estate, a river and air!!! It’s easy to imagine how people lived here 100 years ago.

We arrived quite early, there were few people, but when we left, there was already a line at the ticket office. By the way, the entrance fee is 50 rubles. And you can get to the museum itself with a guided tour for 450 rubles. The museum has an old-style buffet; you can also have a quiet snack on the street. Had a good time 😇 (Original) Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
The Tserkov' Znameniya Presvyatoy Bogoroditsy V Dubrovitsakh is a well-known Russian Orthodox church that was built in 1704 with a baroque style and made of white-stone. The church is adorned with intricate carvings and is located about an hour's drive south of Moscow, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It has become a favorite among visitors for its beautiful scenery and stunning architecture.
Knowing about Голицынs' Baltic/proWestern roots/connection helps to explain a) heavy-duty Baroque style of the Cathedral, b) the 'Gallitzin' settlement/tunnel in Alleghenies, etc.

The ancient Znamenskaya Church in the Russian Baroque style will not leave anyone indifferent. It is an amazing monument of architectural architecture; it is called the pearl of the Moscow region. Unusual, mysterious, this is one of the most beautiful churches in Russia, with a gilded crown instead of a dome. The church in the ancient estate of Dubrovitsy, in which Prince Boris Golitsyn lived, was built at his expense in the 17th-18th centuries. The prince, who served as the tutor of the future sovereign Peter the Great, fell into disgrace with him and left for his estate. However, Peter soon cooled down, and as a sign of reconciliation, the prince, at his own expense, began the construction of an unusual church on the territory of his own estate. In 1704, construction was completed, and Peter the Great himself arrived at the consecration ceremony of the temple, standing and praying on a special balcony of the western ledge. This unique monument of Russian architecture is included in the list of world art treasures.

Art museum
The State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow is a must-visit for art enthusiasts. Established in 1856 by Pavel Tretyakov, it started as a private collection and has now grown to over 180,000 pieces of Russian art. The gallery showcases the evolution of Russian art from medieval religious icons to contemporary works. It houses iconic pieces by renowned Russian artists such as Ivan Aivazovsky, Ilya Repin, and Viktor Vasnetsov.
Rainy day is a perfect day for art. This gallery is a place for inspiration for all art lovers. It’s vast and better plan spending 4-5 hours there. I took audio guide and was lost in time. Love it.
Nevena R — Google review
The Tretyakov Gallery is a true cultural treasure — a place where you can walk through centuries of Russian art under one roof. From iconic works by Repin and Vasnetsov to ancient icons and bold modernism, it’s a journey through the soul of the country. Well-organized, with calm halls and powerful energy. ➕ Unmatched collection of Russian art Beautiful building and well-curated exhibitions Easy to navigate and not overly crowded on weekdays Audio guides and descriptions in English available
Kristina T — Google review
Kramskoy, Vasnetsov, Serov, Repin, Savitsky—to name only a few—are represented in the Tretyakov Gallery, which offers an overwhelming feast for the eyes of art lovers. The museum displays countless masterpieces I had only read about: The Unknown Woman (often called the Russian Mona Lisa), Morning in a Pine Forest (Alenka chocolate wrappers), Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan, and a striking portrait of Pushkin, among others. After just 40 minutes, my mind was flooded with a surge of impressions and information. With 62 rooms to explore, this is clearly not a one-day museum. The entrance fee of 700 rubles is a bargain.
Kye — Google review
Very disappointing experience at the Tretyakov Gallery I visited the Tretyakov Gallery on September 25 and had a very disappointing experience. The website, the online tickets, and even the entrance signs all clearly stated that the museum would close at 9 PM. However, at 7:30 PM everyone was suddenly told to leave because of a private event — something that had never been announced anywhere. No one, not even the security staff, seemed to know about this early closure. The situation was handled poorly, and some staff were rude and unhelpful. It was also surprising that no one at the information desk spoke English in such a major international museum. Because of this, I had to completely change my travel plans and return the next day, buying new tickets and audioguides. Unfortunately, one of the main reasons for my visit — the famous Girl with Peaches — was not on display that day. Although I later received a refund for the first day’s tickets, the gallery’s response ignored the other issues I raised and fell far below my expectations.

Art museums can sometimes feel overwhelming, filled with endless hallways and masterpieces you're not sure how to appreciate. But the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow was different. Stepping inside felt like stepping into a warm embrace of Russian art history. Maybe it was the way the chronological layout unfolded Russia's artistic journey, or perhaps the sheer passion for Russian culture that resonated from every canvas. One of the things that surprised me most was the sheer diversity of styles on display. From the deeply religious icon paintings of the early days to the bold strokes of the avant-garde, the Tretyakov Gallery showcased the evolution of Russian art in a way I hadn't seen before. But it wasn't just about the artistic movements. Certain paintings jumped out at me, leaving a lasting impression. The Appearance of Christ by Alexander Ivanov was the one of the iconic piece of the museum. The Tretyakov Gallery wasn't just a museum; it felt like a conversation with the soul of Russia. It allowed me to understand the country's history, culture, and emotions through the eyes of its greatest artists.

Nyx X — Google review
A very big gallery with great artwork (if you're a fan of it). You need at least a couple of hours to see all of it. The ticket is 500 rubbles for adults. But I'd recommend the Shimov gallery. Much more impressive.
Vasilis K — Google review
The State Tretyakov Gallery is a remarkable art museum that boasts an impressive collection of over 180,000 Russian works spanning multiple centuries. My first visit to this iconic institution was nothing short of inspiring. As a philatelist, I was already familiar with many of the paintings displayed here, having collected numerous stamps featuring artworks from the gallery. This connection made my experience even more special, as I was able to see these masterpieces in person for the first time. The gallery's layout is thoughtfully designed, allowing visitors to journey through the evolution of Russian art. From the early icons to the bold works of the 20th century, each piece tells a story and reflects the rich cultural heritage of Russia. I found myself captivated by the detailed brushwork and the emotions captured in each painting. The names of the artists, such as Ilya Repin and Ivan Shishkin, were not just words to me; they represented a deep-seated appreciation cultivated during my studies in art history at a young age. Moreover, the atmosphere of the gallery is steeped in history, which adds to its charm. Walking through the halls, I felt a profound connection to the past, as if the spirits of the artists lingered in the air. This gallery is not merely a collection of paintings; it is a testament to the creativity and resilience of the Russian people. In conclusion, my visit to The State Tretyakov Gallery was a deeply enriching experience that inspired me both as an art enthusiast and a collector. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to understand the essence of Russian art and culture.

St. Basil's Cathedral, also known as Pokrovsky Cathedral or The Cathedral of Intercession of the Virgin by the Moat, is a 16th-century former cathedral located in Red Square, Moscow. It now houses a museum of the church and is recognized for its multicolored domes that create a unique and vibrant appearance.
Visited St Basils Cathedral in March. It was our first visit to Russia, very much loved the country and the citizens. They were warm and helpful. Our first day was to Saint Basils Cathedral. Felt surreal by the very first look. The climate was good hence we were able to take a walk around as well. This place is a must visit

How can one skip visiting one of Moscow’s most iconic landmarks? Before learning its true name, I used to think of it as the “Tetris building.” The kaleidoscopic exterior, crowned with its whimsical onion domes of irregular shapes, is truly mesmerizing. Inside, the chambers are adorned with centuries-old church icons. An absolute must-visit.

Visiting St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow was honestly a dream come true for me. I always imagined taking a photo standing right in front of this colourful and iconic cathedral, and finally being there in real life felt unreal. The moment I saw it with my own eyes, I got so excited because it looked exactly like the picture I had in my mind for so long. The cathedral is even more beautiful in person with its vibrant colours, unique onion domes, and detailed designs. It truly stands out in Red Square and feels like something from a fairytale. I walked around the area, took so many photos, and just enjoyed the view from every angle. It’s one of those places that gives you that “wow” feeling the moment you step close. For me, this was one of the most special moments of my trip, finally standing in front of the cathedral I always dreamed of. A must-visit when you’re in Moscow!

Located at the Red Square. St. Basil's Cathedral was built in 1555-1561 by the order of tsar Ivan the Terrible in honor of the victory of the Russian army over the Kazan Khanate. Its 16th-20th centuries interiors kept preserved. The vaults and walls of the cathedral was are richly decorated with murals, precious gifts of the royal family members are kept in the former sacristy. Wall paintings and church icons tells about the wonderful miracles of the Saint.

One of nice things to see, dont miss it if you are there and not coming back to Mosco. Entrance is 2000 rubles, bit expensive for a foreigner compared to locals. Worth to see. If you have any an elderly person, be careful as there is a very narrow and high steeped stair to go to second floor.

The history of GUM in Moscow began in the 19th century, when the Upper Trading Rows were located on the site of the current building. The first shops appeared here in the 17th century, but they were wooden, then a stone building appeared, but in about 70 years it also became outdated. In 1889-1893, the old rows were demolished, and in their place a new passage was built with imitation of forms of ancient Russian architecture and folk art, but at the same time modern materials and technologies were used. . The building received elements of Art Nouveau and a unique glass roof, which became one of its calling cards. At the end of the 19th century, it became fashionable to use elements reminiscent of towers, boyar chambers and church architecture of the 17th century: keeled arches, hipped roofs, patterned platbands, pipe columns, figured pediments, kokoshniks and striped masonry. However, unlike real Old Russian architecture, where the decor was an organic part of the structure, in the 19th and 20th centuries these elements were often imposed on modern buildings as decorative ones. Striking examples are the Historical Museum in Moscow and, of course, GUM, where these details are combined with huge glass arches and metal ceilings from the era of the Industrial Revolution. The shopping arcade quickly turned into a center of luxury - hundreds of shops, salons and restaurants operated here. After the revolution of 1917, trade was closed, and the building was used for warehouses and even for housing for officials. In 1921, by decree of Lenin, the State Department Store, or GUM, was opened here. In the 1930s, trade was temporarily stopped, and ministries were placed there. In 1953, the store reopened and became a symbol of Soviet trade - scarce goods, a grocery store and a cafe appeared here. In the 1990s, GUM was privatized and gradually turned into a premium shopping center with boutiques of world brands. Today, GUM is not only a store, but also a cultural space, and in the cafeteria No. 57 you can try dishes from the Soviet era, although in my personal opinion, they don’t really know how to cook them here. The building has become a super symbol of Moscow, combining history, trade and modernity. Its glass roofs, archaic-retro facades and three levels of passages make it a unique architectural monument.

GUM is one of the most beautiful landmarks in Moscow, located right next to Red Square. With its stunning glass roof, elegant corridors, and historical architecture, it is not only a shopping center but also a cultural and architectural experience. You can find luxury brands, cafes, and restaurants inside. A must-visit spot in Moscow. 🌸

Nice place to visit in Moscow. It feels calm, fancy, and full of quality brands. Even if you’re not shopping, it’s great just to walk around and enjoy the vibe. Don’t miss the ice cream simple and so good. A perfect little break right in the middle of the city.

Red Square is a historic landmark in Moscow, Russia, known for its iconic sites such as the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, and Lenin's mausoleum. While there are paid attractions within the Kremlin complex, the surrounding area offers free exploration opportunities including Kazan Cathedral and Aleksandrovsky Garden with its enchanting fountains. Visitors can also stroll through GUM shopping center and witness the change of guards at the Eternal Flame.
The Heart of Moscow – A Must-See Landmark! Red Square is absolutely breathtaking and a must-visit for anyone coming to Moscow. Surrounded by iconic landmarks like St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin, Lenin’s Mausoleum, and the GUM department store, the square is rich in history and architectural beauty. The atmosphere is both grand and peaceful, especially in the evening when the buildings are beautifully lit. You can feel the weight of history here—from military parades to cultural celebrations. It’s also a great place for photos and just soaking in the energy of the city. Tip: Don’t miss the chance to grab a classic ice cream from GUM while enjoying the view—it’s a simple pleasure in a majestic setting!

Amazing Experience at Red Square, Moscow! Visiting Red Square was truly an unforgettable experience! The atmosphere is full of history, culture, and beauty. Standing in the heart of Moscow, surrounded by the stunning Saint Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin walls, and the State Historical Museum, felt like stepping into a living postcard. The architecture is breathtaking, especially at sunset when the lights make the whole square glow beautifully. Everything is so clean, organized, and well-maintained. Street performers, local cafes, and friendly people add to the lively vibe. It’s not just a tourist spot — it’s the soul of Russia, where the past and present meet. I would highly recommend everyone to visit Red Square at least once in their lifetime!

The very heart of the city is a must visit - it’s alongside the Kremlin and comprises other interesting buildings like Gum, the Kremlin, St Basil’s Cathedral, Lenin’s mausoleum etc. There are sights to see and places to eat. You can spend the entire day here.
Natalie P — Google review
Walking through Red Square is an experience that goes beyond simple sightseeing; it is truly where the grandeur of Russian history and architecture culminates. The moment you step in, you are struck by the imposing red walls of the Kremlin on one side and the colorful, onion-shaped domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral on the other. The cathedral’s architecture is so vibrant and whimsical that it looks like something out of a fairytale, making every angle a postcard-perfect shot. I highly recommend visiting both during the day and at night. In the daylight, the intricate details and colors are stunning, while at night, the illuminations of the GUM department store and surrounding buildings create a magical, lively atmosphere perfect for an evening stroll. The square is vast with historic cobblestones, which add to the charm, but I strongly suggest wearing comfortable walking shoes to fully enjoy the walk. Access via the metro is very easy, and although it’s usually busy, the sheer size of the square prevents it from feeling too crowded. Visiting the beating heart of Moscow is an absolute must.

The Moscow Kremlin, also known as The Kremlin, is a massive fortified complex located in the heart of Moscow. Originally built as the tsar's residence, it now serves as the official residence of the President of the Russian Federation. This historic site houses ancient churches used for royal ceremonies and various museums showcasing Russian state regalia and art. Visiting requires careful planning due to ticket logistics and entry requirements, but exploring over five centuries of history within its walls makes it all worthwhile.
A must visit place in Moscow having rich history and architectural value. It was great from outside as well but we took an inside tour as well. Inside there very many beautiful churches even dating back to 13th century. The churches have beautiful hand painted art on its walls and roof.
Zafar K — Google review
Beautiful place with a rich history, energized atmosphere, and incredible architecture. Highly recommend the tour of the inside of the Kremlin, where you can visit cathedrals dating back to the 13th century. Great place to be anytime during the day, but especially at night! (I would also advise making a stop at the eternal flame, which honors the loss of soldiers' lives in WWII).

A place full of history, the churches, and gardens are well worth the visit. Its impressive how this place is so well maintained. You can see the cannons left behind by Napoleon. You can also see iconic buildings from Russia's history although the tourist can really only see them from the outside, yet its still very worthwhile.

The Public Museum of the Moscow Metro offers a unique opportunity to explore the history and artistry of the city's underground transportation system. Serving as both a mode of transit and an underground museum, each station boasts distinct designs and artwork, making it a fascinating experience for art enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Since its opening in 1935 as the first underground railway system in the former Soviet Union, visitors can immerse themselves in the ambiance of a bygone era.
The Metro museum was not too easy to find, or at least not for me. On Google maps it looks like it is in the first floor of the Afimall City mall, but it’s not. It is under the mall right above the Vystanochnaya Metro stop. If you get off the metro at this stop, just look up and you will see a walkway on the upper floor. Make your way up there and you will see the entry to the museum. The Moscow Metro museum is not too bad for free. It has some interesting displays, but I was hoping for more information and pictures on how the tunnels were constructed. All-in-all, it is a good place to visit. Plan on about an hour here.

A very informative museum on how the railway was built in 1931. The museum guide speaks only Russian. Interactive - how to drive a train. Photo taking. The different type of train n equipment of different era.

This museum is not at the address informed for three years now!! The correct address is at Vystavochnaya station. This needs to be corrected. It is a nice space, only in Russian.
Alexandre Z — Google review
This is the wrong address and it’s very hard to find this museum. To make a long story short, you need to follow the signs to Vystavochnaya (выставочная) metro station. Right before the gates, you’ll see the museum. If you still can’t find it, show locals this photo and ask them for directions.
Shay A — Google review
As others have explained and we sadly did not read about until to late, it would have saved us an hour in searching, the museum is in the Metro. Good place to see although very limited displays due to not having any space. Recommended on the way it has been created. Very informal and everything is in Russian. Dr Google gets a fail here in directions.

The museum complex at Dmitrovskiy Kreml' is situated on a historic site that showcases an array of regional art, artifacts, books and weapons. The Old Russian fortress, which was made of wood and only partly survived, is now a testament to the city's rich cultural heritage with its ancient Uspensky sobor, originally constructed in 1512 but later reconstructed and renovated. The city itself boasts numerous hills that offer excellent photo opportunities.
We were passing through the city of Dmitrov. Despite the cloudy weather, we decided to stop by this city and see its sights. The local Kremlin is different from others located in ancient cities of Russia. I think that the Dmitrov Kremlin is a unique monument of defensive architecture that has survived to this day. Instead of the usual stone walls, it is surrounded by earthen ramparts. Admission is free, there is something to see. I recommend it.

(Translated by Google) The rampart is all that remains of the real Kremlin. The gates are a recent construction, plus several buildings within the ramparts are truly historic, especially the church. Nevertheless, it's quite pleasant and cozy here, in part because of the interesting metal sculptures. It's a good choice for a short weekend getaway from the capital. It's easy to get there by bus, so you don't have to worry about the traffic jams on Dmitrovka.

The Museum of Russian Dessert in Zvenigorod is a unique attraction dedicated to the culinary traditions of Russian peasants and merchants. It showcases a variety of native Russian desserts such as Belevskaya marshmallow and Tula gingerbread, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about the history of these sweet treats while indulging in their flavors. The museum also features workshops where guests can participate in activities like making traditional Russian pastries and enjoying them with spicy tea.

I loved this place, because the guides seem truely devoted to their job, they like what they do, and also are very helpful. (Translated by Google) An iconic and fairly well-known landmark of the city of Zvenigorod. The museum exhibits are displayed on two floors. The first floor includes several rooms or halls, the first of which is where you are met and where tickets are purchased. This place is quite cramped if there are more than 6-7 people in it. It is filled with abundantly displayed samples - drawings on a wooden board. These are not museum exhibits on the theme of Russian dessert, just cultural artifacts exhibited for sale. There are also many goods for sale near the cash desk - Hand Made. chocolate, Vyazma gingerbread, herbal teas, teas, pies and all sorts of things, you can't list or count everything - your eyes run wild and you forget why you came to the museum. Also on the first floor there is a Russian stove, which is stoked and, apparently, used for cooking in the declared culinary master classes. If you wish, you can order tea and treat yourself to it with pies and buns in the tea room, near the stove. We ordered tea with thyme to warm up from the cold. We were served black tea, with a hint of thyme, a regular tea, like from a bag. On the first floor it is warm and smells delicious from the stove. On the second floor there are two halls with exhibited samples of old buffets, painted restored chairs and tables, antique dishes, cutlery and samovars. There are recipes on the plates of old Russian desserts, however, you will not see the models or even sketches of Russian dessert dishes, because they simply do not exist. For those wishing to visit the museum with a tour, a museum employee will briefly and unstructuredly tell about some recipes for Russian desserts and the traditions of Russian tea drinking. This will be a simple story for listeners sitting at the table, without going around the exhibits. This kind of story may seem interesting only to those who have never read anything about Russian tea drinking traditions. In my personal opinion, the story is told by not professional guides, not particularly skilled storytellers, which is sad, since this greatly reduces the overall impression of visiting the museum. The museum itself is more like a souvenir and delicacy shop, and is more focused on conducting culinary master classes than on conducting full-fledged excursions on the topic they have chosen.

The tour itself is not the concept that most people are used to - you will not be led past the exhibits and told about them. Everyone was sitting at a table where the guide was telling about the production of old Russian gingerbread (that's all we managed to hear when we arrived), The story itself was interesting, but it's a pity that it lasted 15-20 minutes. The people who were already sitting had cups of some unusual tea, we, as you understand, were not able to try anything. Then there is an opportunity to go around the museum on your own and get acquainted with everything. There are many old things in the museum that were interesting to look at, but it would be even cooler if there was an opportunity to tell us about them (after all, even if we are familiar with some of them and saw them at our grandmothers and great-grandmothers, there are things that we looked at and did not understand what they were used for, but we really wanted to know) which we managed to hear when we came), There were also a lot of beautiful paintings that evoked only bright and positive emotions (you can buy them all). The museum also holds master classes on making pies / pancakes / pretzels in the oven (it's a pity that the minimum number of people is 4, we would gladly go to this format, but only together) I would like the museum to improve the comments and prosper ✨ (Original)

The Savvino-Storozhevskiy Monastery is a significant Russian Orthodox religious site boasting an impressive architectural design and featuring 15th-century altar frescoes. It is a popular destination for tourists visiting Moscow, but it's best to avoid weekends and church holidays to avoid large crowds. Visitors may have the opportunity to view the stunning panorama from the bell tower with permission from a monk.
Great place to spend at least half a day while visiting Zvenigorod. Beautiful scenery, history linked monastery, plenty of exhibition places, nice stylish canteen. Strongly recommend.

On one of the most famous and largest streets in Moscow, the courtyard of the Zvenigorod Savvino-Storozhevsky monastery is hidden, built in a pseudo-Russian style with elements of modern and baroque. Previously, when walking in the center, it was hard not to notice one of the main decorations of Tverskaya, but in 1939 it was hidden from view. An interesting story is connected with its movement: the building, which weighed 24 tons, was moved deeper into the quarter at night - rails were laid under the foundation and smoothly transported to a new location. At the same time, the residents were not relocated and were not even specially warned. It is said that many of them discovered the change only in the morning, looking out of the window, and must have been very surprised at the unexpected move.

A must-see place for any tourist traveling around Moscow. But do not come here on weekends and church holidays, for crowds will ruin one's experience. If you are lucky, a monk may allow you to come up the bell tower. The view is magnificent. The sound is deafening.

Monastery is ok, but you will find inside the walls a pearl, a bakery shop and a café with amazing pastry, cakes, chocolates, 100% handmade and fresh. Very tasty everything. Queue of ppl to buy bread, etc... But it's worth to do it. It's cheap. Shop and café (you can eat everything you can buy in shop here) has amazing decoration, medieval style. Café is located upstairs, just in one of the towers and a door brings you directly to the walls... really beautiful place to eat/drink/rest.

The place is well-suited both for pilgrims and for tourists. They even have free wi-fi, special app for visitors available for iOS and Android as well, and the food is dietetical and tasty at the same time. Moreover there is the only existing prototype of the german tank Maus, aslo the biggest one in the 2ww.

This is simply a great museum! The collection of tanks there is very large, and you even get to try to shoot a firearm of your choice for only 1100 rubles.

I was there with some Russian friends. The place is pretty unique with so many tanks, hundreds I guess. There, are Russian, British, German and American tanks and more. They span about all of the 20th century. Some of them are used a lot in WW II movies. Nice to see them up close here. We spent about two hours here. There's also plenty of souvenirs to buy, a restaurant, toilets and abundant parking place.

Tanks like the Object 279(The Alien Tank), Object 775(Pancake) and the Maus Haus(Wooden mock up in the museum???????) I aphave to visit this place!

One of the biggest tank museums in the western hemisphere. With many unique machines the museum will be breathtaking to all tank lovers. Sadly the German pavilion had been recently relocated to another location, however the Maus and some other machines are still there. Please note that nothing is in English (including people) and getting to this place on public transport might prove tricky. And well, the quality of everything is quite sketchy. Make sure you go with someone who speaks russian, otherwise these f***ers will scam you into paying three times the actual ticket price. Ps, beware of cafeteria food

The New Jerusalem Monastery is a grand monastic complex built in the 1600s, located in the countryside and boasting a cathedral and underground church. Nikon, patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, founded this impressive monastery in 1652. Visitors can explore all areas of the compound for free, with highlights including walking along battlements that encircle much of the complex and admiring exquisite architecture and intricate paintings throughout. The cafeteria also offers affordable home-style cooking.
The New Jerusalem Monastery, located in Istra, Russia, is a remarkable replica of the original Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, Palestine. Founded in the 17th century by Patriarch Nikon, the monastery was designed to bring a piece of the Holy Land to Russia. Its stunning architecture and meticulous design elements faithfully mirror the sacred sites of Jerusalem, offering pilgrims a profound spiritual experience without leaving Russia. The monastery serves as a significant cultural and religious landmark, reflecting the deep historical and spiritual ties between Russia and the Holy Land.

A magnificent replica of the Resurrection Temple in Jerusalem! An astonishing work of art, and a place that every Orthodox should visit when in Moscow! The monastery is huge, and also has a nice "Trapeza" (small restaurant) where you can have a meal. There's also a free parking just outside the main gate.

Most excellent experience. Awesome atmosophere in and out of the monastery. Most things are all open for visiting for gratis. Walking on the batllements which takes one almost right around the whole compound is must see. The cafeteria is great: quite cheap and offers the home food type of cooking. Excellent.

The newly restored historical monastery is so beautiful, especially taking into account how it looked before the restoration works rook place. It is also not overcrowded and it feels really good to spend some time on the premises. Don't forget to get empty bottles with you as the water you can get in the cathedral from the underground source is simply delicious.

New Jerusalem

Hiking area
Renovated religious complex with exhibits on regional history, art & culture, plus a museum shop.
I deem that the concept of melting together the museum, the concert hall, and the exhibition is a good idea, so I do recommend visiting this place if you travel around Moscow to have some cultural experience. The place should have more visitors, indeed. The only minus is the fact that the temperature inside is around +17 degrees; therefore, you had better wear a jacket or a sweater if you don't want to contract a cold.

I visited the very impressive New Jerusalem museum which consisted of different galleries displaying art from different eras of Russian history. I enjoyed my guided tour that explained in detail the exhibits. It is in Russian though so it was good to visit together with a Russian speaker. It was good to understand more about Russian art and history.

Pay attention: this is an art museum, where you can also see the history of New Jerusalem churches. I've been here three times and I think that the architects that draw this place are totally unable to make their work. Showrooms are always too small and the lot of visitors transform the museum in a shopping centre during sales. Really bad the wardrobe, too small and fitted in a thin corridor. If you want to enjoy this place, come during weekdays...

A great museum to visit for those who like music, history or simply don't know how to spend their time in Klin. A vast variety of authentic exhibits. The vibes of the late XIX century still linger in the house and other facilities where Pyotr Chaikovsky (and his family) dwelled. The excursion with our guide Anna was splendid, lots of interesting and unexpected trivia about the composer's life really made us hang on the guide's every word. Highly recommend!!!

We tried to get there few times - first on the road to St Petersburg on 1 of may 2021 - the garden around estate was closed. Then 25 september 2021 we planned to overnight in Klin and ask cashier by the phone few times to wait us until 17.30 They refuse us. Cashier closes at 17.00, even if museum closes at 18.00 Next day we forced to stay longer in Klin cause museum open only at 10am, but we have a whole day plans and risked to miss our last POI cause on extremely uncomprosissing staff of this place. Be aware!

You can as well visit a concert there and listen to the sound of the grand piano owned by Tchaikovsky where he composed and performed so many works.

Magnificent place where you can find lots of Tchaikovsky. You can take photo with additional fee. There is a guide with St. Petersburg accents (Russian). Some tourist from St. Petersburg (also russian) was asking repeatedly about if Tchaikovsky was not fond of woman and Guide repeatedly answer not to ask kind of harsh question. If you have time to go there please do so, his last home and where he composed Symphony No.6.

The Russian Orthodox Church Boris and Gleb Monastery in Novotorzhsky is an impressive place to visit. The surroundings are well-maintained and offer beautiful panoramic views. For a small fee of 100 rubles, visitors can climb one of the towers for even better views. The monastery showcases a mix of restored and ongoing construction buildings, providing a glimpse into its historical significance. Amenities such as parking and free toilets are available on-site.

Kirill C — Google review
(Translated by Google) The Novotorzhsky Boris and Gleb Monastery is located on a high hill south of the city rampart. In 2018, the monastery celebrated its 980th anniversary. This is the oldest Orthodox monastery, founded by St. Ephraim of Novotorzhsky during the reign of Yaroslav I Vladimirovich almost at the same time as the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. Ephraim of Novotorzhsky served as an equerry for princes Boris and Gleb, and after their murder by his half-brother Svyatopolk the Accursed Ephraim became a monk. In 1038 Ephraim, together with his disciple St. Arkady built a stone temple in memory of the innocently murdered brothers - princes Boris and Gleb. The complex of the Boris and Gleb Monastery includes a cathedral (1785), a bell tower (1804), and an abbot's building (1714). The fate of the monastery, like many other monasteries, after the 1917 revolution, is tragic. The monastery was closed in 1931 and a maximum security prison was placed within its walls. After the monastery was closed, the icons were lost and the bells were dropped. The monastery is active, the territory is cozy, and interesting excursions are organized.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful, pleasant place! Torzhok has many temples and churches with bell towers, which serve as points of attraction for tourists, and the Novotorzhsky Borisoglebsky Monastery is no exception. There is also a bell tower here - one of the few buildings on the monastery grounds, which was restored primarily to be used as a source of income - a paid observation deck. The cost of the ascent is 300 rubles per person (there are no benefits). For Torzhok, this is probably too much. For example, the ascent to the bell tower of the Ilyinskaya Church in Torzhok, which is similar in height, costs 2 times less, only 150 rubles per person, and the Ilyinskaya Church is also located on a hill, only on the opposite bank of the Tvertsa River, so the view from there is also good. An attractive ginger cat lives on the monastery grounds, who walks where he wants and for free. :)) The photo shows the very moment when I told him how much it costs to climb their bell tower. 😉😀 And if you are not just going to look with your eyes, but want to capture high-quality panoramas, then on both bell towers it is better to do this (we are talking about summer) either in the morning (immediately after opening) or in the evening (immediately before closing). Evening is even better. This is, of course, if you are ready to take everything into account at once - the location relative to the cardinal points, the most interesting directions for photographing, as well as the position of the sun and the most interesting light for photography. But in the evening of 14.08.25. it was cloudy and therefore we decided to go up in the morning of 15.08. 25 We did not get there on time, although the day before (in the evening of August 14) we were promised that they would open on August 15 at 10:00, but the ascent was opened more than an hour later... Someone did not hand over the keys to someone. 🤷 Yes, one more thing... Very dusty work was being carried out on the territory of the monastery. Without blocking the territory and without stopping the excursion, the migrant workers blew all the dust off the walls along the perimeter of the monastery before finishing work, which flew straight onto the territory and onto the visitors... Brothers, is this really possible?

Very ancient, very beautiful and of course fully consistent with its centuries-old history. Located on the banks of the Tvertsa River, in a picturesque place. Many artists paint this beauty. And in the midst of all this brilliant disrepair stands the restored bell tower. Too bright, too smooth and unimaginably correct. But artists do not paint this bell tower, and it does not decorate the monastery. Probably, the restoration of such objects must be treated very carefully.

Shlisselburg is located at the source of the Neva River from Lake Ladoga. The main attraction of the city is the ancient fortress of Oreshek (sometimes mistakenly called Oreshnik), one of the oldest in Russia. The fortress was founded in 1323 by Prince Yuri Danilovich of Novgorod, the grandson of Alexander Nevsky, on Orekhov Island, which was named after the abundance of hazelnuts. In the same year, the Orekhovsky Peace Treaty, the first agreement between Novgorod and Sweden, was signed here. In 1612-1702, the fortress was under Swedish rule and was called Noteburg. Peter I recaptured it in 1702 during the Great Northern War, giving it the name Shlisselburg. The fortress has an irregular triangular shape with seven towers (five of which have been preserved), the main one being the Tsar's Tower with its unique curved entrance. Inside, there is a citadel with additional fortifications and a 12-meter moat.
Azar — Google review
Oreshek is a fortress founded by Novgorod at the source of the Neva, and most famous as a prison that housed political dissidents in the late czarist era. From Petersburg you can reach it by train to Petrokrepost, or by bus to Schlisselburg. Train is faster, but the Schlisselburg side is more exciting. You need to take a ferry to the island, where you can explore the island individually, with an audio guide, or a tour. Much of it is in ruins, but a few buildings have been restored. There is a cafe and a toilet on the premises. Two to three hours should be plenty to see all there is to see. The nature is particularly stunning here, so consider making some time to hire a boat, go for a swim, or just walk the coast.
George I — Google review
They say it's not a good spot for swimming but it has a very good view for visiting.
Safa D — Google review
The fortress is quite nice and will have more renovation in the future. The rest of the town has lost a lot during the WWII.
Ar N — Google review
Excellent day out. The fortress is filled with history. A lot to learn.
Dmitri P — Google review
You may want to not listen to the guides. Ghosts of the place whisper in their ears.
Timur T — Google review
I would recommend visiting Oreshek if you're nearby. It is located on an island on Lake Ladoga. You can reach the island by boat in just about a few minutes + waiting time for departure. Tickets for boat are sold separately from fortress entrance tickets, which is a museum today.

Pavlovskiy Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Pavlovskiy Park is a sprawling 18th-century landscape surrounding a palace-turned-museum, boasting English-style gardens, water features, and classical-style buildings like the Apollo Colonnade and the Temple of Friendship. Spanning over 600 hectares, it's renowned as one of Europe's finest landscape parks. During summer, the park blooms with diverse flowers and offers families a perfect place for leisurely walks.
Magnificent place with intricate ceilings, beautiful in laid floors, spectacular chandeliers and amazing art work. Each room more grand than the other. What palace would be complete without its own theater!
Keith B — Google review
A very beautiful and big park where one could walk and contemplate beauty for hours. There are lots of trees that look like a wild forest but it is obvious that they are also looked after. I did not go into the museums so can't say about them.

Beautiful palace not far from the more touristy Tsarskoye Selo. Beautiful, intimate rooms in a fabulous park setting. The interiors are exquisite. No crowds when I visited. I recommend paying extra to see the private apartments of the dowager empress

Really great place to walk around. Visited in winter. Beautiful snow and icy Park. Probably even better in summer
Daniel V — Google review
A park that my family loves to walk during the summer. Our trip out this weekend was a bit early in the season and the weather was a bit chilly. During the summer that gardens are full or different kinds of flowers. There are even parts of the park where a person can go and lay out in the grass, a true luxury in Russia. Be sure and bring some nuts as there are many hungry squirrels who will gladly come get them out of your hand. This is a lot of fun for kids.

Nature & Parks
Catherine Park is a sprawling urban park that was once the estate of a nobleman. It features lush greenery, ponds, and walking paths. The park reflects the preferences of multiple generations of Romanovs, blending elaborate formal gardens with a picturesque landscaped park adorned with charming follies. Visitors can explore various attractions within the park for an admission fee, including the Grotto, Maids of Honour Garden, and Hanging Garden.
In keeping with all the opulence the Catherine Park is amazing again I am glad I did not have to fit the bill over the years. But a number of splendid features and it takes a long time to walk around. It took us a few hours to cover all the sites and take in the atmosphere.
Ross D — Google review
Amazing park, need at least two hours to walk around!

Catherine Palace, it is a park in Tsarskaya Village, Russia, located 25 km southeast of St. Petersburg. Catherine Park gets its name from Catherine Palace, and the park is divided into two parts: the Garden and the English Garden. When you come to St. Petersburg, you should take a stroll and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the area
C J — Google review
The park itself is nice, but the palace is super underwhelming inaccessible. You have to buy ticket for each small section of the palace, and it’s quite pricey as well. In addition, there is absolute no English translation, no English audio or tour guide, and the staff does not speak any English at all as well.
Minh N — Google review
There are a lot of beautiful places around the world where you will feel happy and relaxed yourself. And Catherine Park is definitely one of those places. I had so warm walk with my soulmate in the amazing place with incredible views just everywhere you turn your head. The perennial trees, ponds, beautiful buildings with a long history. So precious moments of life.🤍
Farida S — Google review
My family's favorite park grounds. We walk the grounds at least once a year. There are lots of fun paths for kids to explore. If you bring nuts you can also sometimes feed squirrels or chickadees. Don't forget to walk behind the palace to the left and explore some lovely gardens with statues there.
Aaron B — Google review
Amazing gardens. There are several pavilion to visit and they all have wildly different styles, which makes it fun. Some are available to visit with a ticket (like the amazing Cold Baths, where the Agathe Rooms are located) and some can be visited for free (like the Chinese style pavilion and the Italian Style pavilion with authentic roman mosaics from the 2nd century) Just strolling around is nice, and they are more chilled than Petergof, with lots of locals enjoying the scene.

A dream of a spacious garden. The beautiful Baroque palaces are surrounded by fantastic French and English gardens. There are also various very interesting outbuildings. You have to search in Europe for a long time to find comparable.

Museum "Tsarskoye Selo" is a captivating historic site that encompasses multiple imperial palaces and an extensive landscaped park adorned with beautiful gardens. It's advisable to make reservations in advance as the place tends to be crowded, especially during the fall season when the enchanting walks through the park are particularly popular.
Beatiful palace in a pleasant town. Nice gardens and beautiful architecture. Make sure your camera/phone is charged. You will be taking a lot of pictures. Just remember the palace itself is closed on Tuesdays. Gardens are still available though.

Everything was ok except for the exorbitant price for a ticket for a foreigner. 2500 rubles for a 30 minute tour with minimal English. In Europe we have the same prices for everyone.
Marián T — Google review
I come back after 8 years. The exterior and the park are really amazing, a must see. About the interior tour, re her living zone, which I did for the first time, well, I am not sure is something to be seen... First of all you will discover that almost everything was bombed or robbed during second world war, so you are looking to a replica, which is taking away all the magic from it since......since let us be honest, interiors are unreal ugly. Too much of everthing without real balance and well thought details. And when you see it as a replica, you start to think 💬 well why to remake such a kitsch interior and not even to the end (not all the rooms have been restored until the end ). Also, the guide we had was so boring, lots of details repeating over and over... In general, the visit to the interior I won't recommend it, you won't loose anything. The park yes, that is a piece of art to be seen.

Beautiful. Grand. Bold. The palace is stunning and both the Catherine and Alexander parks are beautiful. I really want to visit the Alexander Palace when it opens after renovations. Which may take years sadly. The Amber Room is amazing. The post war photos of the destruction are sobering
HL R — Google review
Exhilarating experience to see so much grandeur and beauty! The interiors of Catherine's Palace are truly awe-inspiring, especially the Amber Room. Entry into the Palace always involves a longish queue, but it's worth it. If you have the stamina, don't miss out the stunning Palace gardens either. As splendid as the Palace interiors.
Sumer S — Google review
A great place just a train or a bus ride from St. Petersburg. The park is beautiful and the palace tour is nice. Be prepared to wait in line for about 30 minutes to an hour since there are a lot of visitors and due to the capacity, only certain number are allowed every 15 minutes.
Milan S — Google review
Beautifully restored back to almost original greatness. Displays the crazy wealth of the Romanovs. Also a nice example of the Russian taste for gold and ornaments. Best to visit off season to avoid the largest hordes of tourists.

A don't miss site in St Petersburg. Tickets go on sale 30 days prior, don't miss the date, they will be sold out 29 days prior (the tixs for Catherine Palace). You can still get a tix via a long line or by joining a tour. All of the rooms are beautiful but the amber room alone is worth the visit.

The Faberge Museum, located in the historic Shuvalov Palace, is a treasure trove of art and jewelry from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum's crown jewels are the nine Imperial Easter eggs created for the last Russian Tsars, along with a stunning array of paintings, porcelain, and other decorative arts.
Small, rich, incredible museum showcasing the otherworldy riches of the zar's. The center pieces are numerous Fabergé eggs, each of them an absolute masterpiece, accompanied by jewels, precious china and earthwares as well as gold and silver decorations and icon encrusted with precious stone.

These eggs are not only stunning jeweled works of art but also unique historical artifacts.

The staff members speak English and it is possible to get English audio guide.

One of the most beautiful museums to visit in St Petersburg. The fabrezé eggs are jaw dropping nothing like any another jewellery you've seen before. Everyone has to place their coat in wardrobe and the protection on shoes, to keep the place clean. The museum hosts paintings, sculptures and other artifacts mostly from 19. century. This is the place where you can see the traditional Russian art and paintings. Pity to see that Russian art reached its peak in the 19th century and halted as soon as the Soviet revolution took place. At least they preserved their finest collections and present in this museum.

Sights & Landmarks
The Savior on the Spilled Blood is a stunning 1880s church adorned with gleaming mosaics and marble, featuring colorful onion domes. Designed by Russian architect Hronihin, it boasts a cross-shaped floor plan with a cylinder-shaped penthouse and a correct dome. The semicircular colonnade consists of 94 columns facing the main street and encircling the square, where monuments of Russian commanders stand.
The interior of the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood is absolutely breathtaking. Stepping inside invites a moment of reflection — you can’t help but think about how much time and effort the artists must have put into creating such intricate details, blending colors, and forming the stunning, interwoven patterns. The mosaics and decorations are awe-inspiring, and golden accents shimmer when touched by light, creating a truly mesmerizing effect. Entry is quite affordable, though the place is often crowded. It’s highly recommended to read about the church beforehand to fully appreciate the variety of rare stones used in its construction.

So impressive with this palace. I went there on autumn 2017. Outside in the morning was so quiet and no signs for tourists where is entrance but Russian pointed over there. An interesting tour of the main restored halls and the gardens in the courtyard, many exhibits are replicas (which is mentioned by the tour guide), the halls themselves have standard interiors with luxury and lots of furniture. The area in front of the palace is covered with granite chips with a monument to Paul I. In the courtyard there is a monument to Alexander III with a very interesting design, it is worth a look. It's better to come half an hour before the tour to have time to see the armory and basement, since the second part of the tour involves leaving the museum without the possibility of returning.

The huge palace of Emperor Paul just started to turn into a museum. For a long time there was a naval school. Now museums are much smaller than a quarter of the building, but restoration work is underway. A special impression is left by the private chambers and the office of Emperor Alexander 3. Small rooms and low ceilings contrast sharply with the luxury of the rest of the building.

The Great Gatchina Palace is a palace in Gatchina, Leningrad Oblast, Russia. It was built from 1766 to 1781 by Antonio Rinaldi for Count Grigori Grigoryevich Orlov, who was a favourite of Catherine the Great, in Gatchina, a suburb of the royal capital Saint Petersburg. The Gatchina Palace combines classical architecture and themes of a medieval castle with ornate interiors typical of Russian classicism, located on a hill in central Gatchina next to Lake Serebryany. The Gatchina Palace became one of the favourite residences of the Russian Imperial Family, and during the 19th century was an important site of Russian politics. Since the February Revolution in 1917 it has been a museum and public park, and received UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1990.
