The office of tourism in Remoulins is useless. A young woman sits in a nicely airconditoned room and does not know what services she sells. When asked about an English tour of Uzes, she said the tour guide will adapt if you buy a ticket and go to Uzes and inform the guide you want the info in English. Sounds improbable to every reasonable adult, right? When I insisted on calling Uzes and asking, she reluctantly picked up the phone. They told her an english speaking tour does not exist. You would bet a customer needs a nice apology for the wrong info, right? Oh no, I did not receive this. I asked about a carriage tour of Pont du Gard area, I was given a booklet. I am supposed to call myself and ask. When I said I do speak French but on limited scale, She said the info is online. So why does she have a job in the office of tourism? If everything is available online... PS. I see the owner quickly put the blame on the subcontractor who decides not to organize the tours " in foreign languages". This is true the office cannot change the fact if a company organizes such tours of not. But if you read my review carefully, you will see I am mostly disappointed with the attitude of the office employee, not the fact the tour didn't exist. One more story: I came to the office with a booklet I found in my "chambre d'hotes"/ rented room. The booklet was an official publication of the "bureau de tourism Pont du Gard", maybe from last year, maybe from 2 years ago, it didn't have an exact printed date. I asked her about 2 tours, which we liked. She said " we don't do those" " where do you have the booklet from?" As if " a stupid turist" was to blame for wanting to buy a service from this agency. You can blame any subcontractor, Covid or any other plague, but this is not the right friendly attitude to tourists.

Very cool and interesting cave
Sondre L — Google review
Small cave. ideal for cooling off in hot weather. Constant temperature of 13°c. Nice to do if you are in the area, but I wouldn't drive far for this. Total experience 45 minutes. Explanation only in French. We did receive a sheet with the explanation in Dutch
Danny V — Google review
A nice cave, but a relatively boring experience for those not fluent in French. Positive points: The price of 11 euro's is not very high. The cave itself is pretty, especially the last part in which a light show is included. Although the guides speak only French, a brief translation of the cave highlights can be obtained in other languages when you obtain your tickets (considerate!). Point for improvement: The tour takes roughly 50 minutes, of which most is spent listening to the guide's uncompromising high tempo French - I guess there is plenty to tell and it sounded enthusiastic, but it was too fast to follow for someone at basic level French. This meant we spent 5 to 10 minutes waiting at every point, after having read 1 paragraph of text (not even always sure if it was the right one). Practical: The cave temperature of 13 degrees was not too cold for us in our shorts and t-shirts. No hiking shoes required. Ample parking on the premises. A small gift shop included at the entrance. Nice to see if you are near, but not an essential experience.

(Translated by Google) A superb experience, both tour and guide. Under the southern sun, a visit to a cave at 13°C should appeal to more than one of you. A short hour in the cool, then afterward, you can take a short ~10-minute walk up to the castle for a superb view of the city and surrounding area. (Original) Une superbe expérience, visite et guide. Wine Museum Brotte

Museum
Vineyard
Wine Museum Brotte is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. The museum offers a well-curated and informative experience, providing a solid foundation for the rest of your wine country tour. Visitors can enjoy a variety of package options that include wine tastings, guided by knowledgeable staff members who are passionate about wine. The museum itself is interesting, with audio tours available at reasonable prices. Additionally, there's a shop with an extensive selection of wines and related products to purchase.
An amazing place where you can learn all about the winemaking of the region. An excellent museum that organically combines ancient exhibits and modernity. And of course, very friendly staff!! And the cherry on the cake is a tasting of excellent wines! A must visit, especially for those who are visiting chateauneuf du pape for the first time!
Lyubov R — Google review
WORTH IT! Good way to spend about an hour learning about the history of CdP and the surrounding areas. Self guided audio tour you can do at your own pace. Tasted 3 or 4 wines afterward. Dominika was an excellent host. She answered all our questions, including what other crus we should visit. They ship to the US and will cover 10% of the tarrifs. My husband and I learned a lot and enjoyed this experience. Highly recommend.
Ann-Marie — Google review
We had a great experience learning more about wine and the region itself. I am always have been a big fan of CdP wines and going here to learn more about the wines was a dream come true. La Fiole was the first bottle of CdP I had and to see it made here…such a great experience. We learnt a lot and tasted great wines. Coraline was super nice and knowledgeable about the wines as well. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Dan U — Google review
Amazing museum and Dominika was so knowledgeable and kind! We loved the wines and the whole experience!
Udrea L — Google review
A hidden gem! We had a wonderful hour or so spent here learning more about the history of the region and wine produced here. It is a well laid out museum with interactive elements, and includes samples in your ticket fee, which we did not initially realise but were very much welcome! €8 includes 3 wine samples, €12 includes 5 and I think the max ticket price was €25 including 5 special vintage samples. Really good value and our sommelier Emily was extremely well informed and happy to chat with us! Her English was great too which we really appreciated as non French-speakers. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Aimee G — Google review
We booked online. When we arrived we were told the tour was a self guided audio one. I’m deaf, so asked if there were boards to read instead. Initially I was told there wasn’t much to read as it was all audio. The girl on the desk was most apologetic. After about 10 minutes of my husband relaying the info to me, the girl from the front desk caught up with us and very kindly gave me a rough transcript of the tour info which she had just printed out for me. Having finished the tour we had a nice wine tasting session where we tasted five delicious wines and were chatted through the process by a very knowledgeable and friendly guy. There was no hard sell at all. We bought a bottle of wine and then when we got to the desk to pay they gave us another bottle for free to apologise for the audio guide situation. The staff couldn’t have been more obliging and friendly. It was a great little stop off. The tour and tasting last about 45 minutes and you can book online. I’d highly recommend it.
Clare R — Google review
Wonderful experience. The tour of the museum is very interesting and allows to have a deep insight into their wine production. Dominika guided us through wine tasting, with kindness and sympathy. Absolutely recommended!

Easy access, plenty of parking out front, we were received upon entering and quickly started our self guided tour. This place has some nice wines.

Les Caves Saint Charles SAS

Wine cellar
Food & Drink
Les Caves Saint Charles SAS, housed in a 13th-century cellar, offers exclusive Chateauneuf-du-Pape tastings and wine experiences. Their Maitre Sommelier provides insightful knowledge about wine tasting. It's recommended to book tastings in advance as they are by appointment only. Visitors have enjoyed free 60-minute wine tastings and found the scheduling process easy on their user-friendly website.
Les Caves St Charles is a MUST when visiting Chateauneuf-du-Pape! What an experience! Entering the cave is like walking through history. Guy is so knowledgeable on the history of the town, the wine and the wine makers. The cave offers a tasting of several different wine domaines in one spot, which is nice because it’s hard to stop at every winery. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Tiffany M — Google review
This was a wonderful tasting! Highly recommend it. Guy was so knowledgeable about wine and really shared some beautiful local wines! The caves were incredible!
John C — Google review
Very nice place to have wine tasting or cooking class. Knowledgeable people with the most delicate wine selection from small domains.
Ruslan C — Google review
We spoiled ourselves by having a private lunch with pairings after our wine tasting. The food was superb. An experience will we never forget. It was absolutely wonderful overlooking the Rhône River and all the wineries.
Ann M — Google review
We had a lovely tasting with Valentine - she was very knowledgeable and recommended some great wines (and restaurants in the area). We will definitely come back next time we visit!
Sam S — Google review
We had a fantastic time doing a wine tasting. So kind, knowledgeable and the wines provided were delicious, varied and interesting. Strong recommend
Andrew H — Google review
I highly recommend stopping in for a wine tasting experience with Guy Bremond at Les Caves St. Charles in Chateauneuf-du-pape. Guy is very knowledgeable and presents wonderful wines while providing history on winemaking in the region. Do not miss this if you are in the area. Thank you, Guy!
Christy S — Google review
We had an incredible wine tasting at Les Caves St. Charles on a recent visit to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The area has such a rich wine growing history with so many different wine styles to sample. We couldn’t believe that Les Caves offers FREE 60-minute wine tastings, and scheduling could not be easier on Les Caves’ user-friendly website. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely, knowledgeable woman who enthusiastically guided us downstairs into an intimate, private tasting room. Les Caves has several private tasting rooms, each below ground and designed as mini caves. For an hour our host guided us through six different local wines, each distinctive in style. At the conclusion, we were free to exit Les Caves owing nothing. Of course, we bought a mixed case of fantastic wine that can’t be purchased in the U.S. Les Caves was a highlight of our visit to this legendary wine growing region.

Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Parc Spirou Provence is a theme park that offers a variety of attractions suitable for the whole family. From roller coasters to kids' rides and digital simulator experiences, there's something for everyone. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of beloved comic strip characters like Marsupilami and Lucky Lucke. The park provides an unforgettable adventure with numerous family-friendly attractions catering to both children and adults.
Very nice, tidy and safe park. Attractions are fun for younger and older children and the older children (dad) can enjoy some extremer rides as well! The decorations and finishing has been done nicely overall. We went with 36 degrees in the sun, but the park has water sprayers in the waiting lines and throughout the park to cool you down. The park is compact, but has a lot to offer.
Stef C — Google review
Brilliant family day out. We visited on a Sunday in August and it was relatively quiet with short queues for the rides. We appeared to be the only English speaking tourists there. There’s something for all ages but it’s especially good for children aged 5+. You need to be 90cm for the rides for smallies. Fun rollercoasters and some thrilling rides. Food, snacks and drinks all excellent. Very clean. Staff friendly and safety conscious. Highly recommend.
Aoife C — Google review
Great small human-size amusement park. Very surprised by the organisation, and cleanliness of the place ... the ticket prices and cost of any internal expenses are not that expensive. Still, I suggest getting something to eat from home.
Gil A — Google review
We went on a public holiday because despite it being the school holidays the parc wasn't open earlier in the week. There were far too many people to make it an enjoyable experience. Massive queues for everything often in full sun. Even for an ice cream. Lots of broken down rides, sometimes temporarily, sometimes all day. We have been to many theme parks and this one was by far the worst. It is overpriced given the number of rides. And to top it off you have to pay to park there!!!
Jane R — Google review
Very small parc with only a few rides. Especially for little children. My little girl paid 26 euros but because she wasn't 1 meter she could not get on anything. I asked for a refund because she didn't need a ticket but this was denied because nobody signed my ticket a asked client service during our visit and she stated that I would get a refund true mail and no proof of our visit was needed There is no shade and it gets very hot 2 shops where closed the whole day. And also only 2 restaurants open and only from 13u. Nice personnel
Viki M — Google review
Rather limited number of attractions for (young) adults. During our visit, the most exciting rides were closed as well as almost all food and beverage stalls without the organization giving any compensation
Peter B — Google review
Very nice amusement park! Interesting mix of rides for small and bigger kids. My 4-year-old had a blast! Not very big which I find ideal and not overwhelming. We also didn't have to queue much most of the times.

A day at the Parc with my son Logan during vacances and with covid restrictions supprisingly still not to busy so ques were not so long for the ride . I like the rides that I could go on with logan who is still 7 and too small for some and loved the 3d picture shows . But even with the free pass we were given for Logan à single parents ticket was 32 euro , the 4 .60 euro for the parking (pretty steap for some family's struggling during covid and vacances in my opinion hope others also comment ) the obligatoire slushie Juice cup for Logan 6.50 and oof the gift shop . But the he loved it , his favorite ride piranha splash the water cannons

Amazing castle. So much restoration. Interesting exhibits.
Nick M — Google review
Interesting castle but didn't go inside as €8,40 each. Like most castles, it looks better from a distance

This little castle was a real sight on a hot day. Visitors were few. So we had all the time in the world to walk the old stairs and chambers. The view from the top down on the vineyards is just gorgeous.
Annekathrin W — Google review
Located at the top of a hill, this historical landmark is visible from miles away. The castle in itself doesn't offer much except for visitors who love the Middle Ages. That said, this impressive building stands proudly and strongly. And the view is pretty spectacular. It's possible to hike paths coming from Caromb or Beaumes-de-Venise. No food, no beverages are sold there.
Maxi M — Google review
Great place to visit. Super friendly from the start. This is a castle & a home in restoration so don't expect suits of armour etc. But you will see some breathtaking scenery of Provence below you. There's a great treasure hunt for kids, possible whiskey tasting for adults & yummy food in the café. The visit to the chapel alone is worth going. Also In need of restoration the frescoes are stunning. Look forward to seeing the progress in a few years time.
Gibby K — Google review
We had a lovely experience in the castle, amazing story with the twice attempted renovation. Staff in the entrance were more than helpful and with a guide book it explained the history as we walked around. Loads to explore and well worth the entry fee.

We arrived at the Chateaux after a long day of touring. The drive along the vineyard roads was very beautiful. It was 5:00pm and closing time was 5:30 so we opted not to pay the 8.50 eu entry. Instead we walked around the chateau and enjoyed the beautiful views. Mt. Ventoux can be seen along with the rolling hills countryside. Breathtaking. We shall return another time.

Had an amazing experience! I was looking forward to my trip to Firminy, especially the guided tour of the Housing Unit. Unfortunately, the tickets on the website were sold out, but after emailing the staff they made it possible for me and my friend to have the tour, which turned out to be amazing. The guide made sure to include us (non-French) in the tour and translated most of the important information. Everyone was really nice and helpful, I can’t imagine having a better experience. Inflatable castles, a sandbox with construction equipment, pedal karting Archery games, blowgun. Several top-notch wooden games I think are a change from electronic games. Shade shelters with tables and benches in the shade and in the sun. Sales of drinks and ice creams on site. What could be great is games with water to cool off. Because the day we went to the farm the sun was out and it would have really been a plus to find games with water.

(Translated by Google) Nice new place (last time I went they were in St Julien Molin Molette). Interesting mini museum before accessing the demonstration room (several hours during the holidays - see their website). The procedure is very well explained. My 4-year-old son was fascinated. Then we saw the production and bagging rooms behind the windows and back in the shop. Very large parking lot. Everything is free, but with the tasting in the shop, we're in love 🤤 Their marshmallows are excellent, as is the crepe dentelle spread. I recommend going when there's a demonstration, even if there's a video when there isn't one. All the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Thank you. (Translated by Google) Delicious artisanal confectionery. I came here twice in one week while on vacation in the area. The downside is the young ladies at reception and at the checkout who have no business or hospitality skills.... Yesterday I bought over 50 euros worth of merchandise and 25 euros a few days earlier. Yesterday, when I asked if it was possible to taste a fruit paste or marshmallow to discover, I was told "we don't have time to restock," but the restocking bins are right under the reception desk! What a shame... This factory really deserves a better team in its shop. When we left, we didn't get a "Thank you" or "Goodbye"!

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Animal shelter
Wildlife park keeping primates, from chimps to gorillas, plus big cats, birds & reptiles.
A wonderful day spent at the ZOO. Lots of exotic animals, some of which you can even walk among - birds. As you can see, part of the park will be expanded and the area will increase. The animals have very nicely decorated habitats with enough space. Inside the garden there is a snack bar and a souvenir shop. Very well stocked. Definitely an unforgettable day with pleasant memories.
Tadej B — Google review
I have mixed feelings about zoos, I went because my company organized a visit. First time in my life I've been in the presence of a gorilla, no more than a few meters away. First time I've seen a gorilla eating fruits and.... yogurt? This gorilla was being hand fed by the owner of this zoo, Mr. Pierre, he was feeding her inside her room it was fascinating to see. First time I've seen a lion run firsthand, and very upclose. And last but not least, first time I've heard a group of 10+ chimpanzees quarreling, calling out and "screaming". This zoo gave me a sense of humbleness and some sort of primal fear I've never felt before. It made me realize how majestic and imposing these animals can be, yet how beautiful they are too. I liked the back story too. I hope they are truly living up to their mission. I'm still thinking about what I saw.

What a great zoo. Never seen so many active animals at a zoo before. The tigers and lions were magnificent and playing with each other rather than just sleeping or pacing. Good close up viewing with all the animals. Also it's obvious that the zoo is expanding their enclosure space so it'll be interesting to see what it looks like the next time we return. Well worth the entrance fee and we will definitely return when we are in this area.
Paul H — Google review
Good zoo close by Lyon. The zoo offers some great species of animals, but I think the price is too high. You can spend a couple of hours here, but the park is small and completed within 2 hours. We missed a bunch of animals, despite taking the time to spend extra time in the park after finishing the route. We missed the coatis, servals, binturongs, dingos and some more. Very poor habitats for some animals and some animals did not seem to have any space, like the ocelots. We did really enjoy seeing the snow leopards and the arctic wolves. The park smells bad in a lot of places and the hygiene in the toilets is just bad. For such a price we expected clean toilets somewhere, but it was very poorly maintained. Parking is free. €18,50 is too much in this case, but it’s not a total waste. Hopefully it is being used for future wellbeing of the animals.
Yurivdb — Google review
Beautiful clean zoo, animals are well looked after, very reasonably priced... Great day out
Joanne S — Google review
Conservation focused zoo with quite a lot of interesting primate exhibits (amongst a lot of other types of animals). Big enough that you can spend a few hours here but also not so big that it has to take up your entire day. The zoo is positioned up a hill so there is some elevation change during your walk through but the park is entirely accessible (wheelchairs of course, but that means also strollers too Mamas… even enough room through entrances and pathways for huge American double strollers). And the layout of the enclosures up the hill allows for really good viewing of the animals in their enclosures.

(Translated by Google) First encounter with the Jouvenal chocolate shop/pastry shop. We first tried the cake. A chocolate cake encased in a vanilla cream. A wonderful combination of flavors. Not too sweet, just how we like pastries. A quality chocolate that's too rarely found in pastry shops. The price seemed very high considering the size of the cake. Then we tried a chocolate and orange peel marmalade cake, with combinations that reminded me of a cake from the chocolatier Bochard when he worked in pastry shops. We were rather disappointed with our experience. The cake is very sweet. The biscuit on the top of the cake doesn't add much in terms of texture. The chocolate part is very good. So why 3 stars... and not 4 or 5, because at this price point, I think I've found something very tasty. We'll be back because we have no doubt about this business's commitment to delighting us.

Saint Maurice Cathedral

Churches & Cathedrals
The Saint Maurice Cathedral in Vienne is a magnificent medieval Catholic church showcasing Gothic architecture, adorned with intricate stained glass and tapestries. This grand structure survived the French Revolution and stands as one of the few remaining examples of Romanesque architecture from the twelfth century at its lower half, complemented by later Gothic additions from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. Inside, visitors can marvel at its exquisite interior, which offers a plethora of fascinating details and remarkable artistic works.
This is one stupendously magnificent church in Vienne. I entered from Place Saint-Maurice with staircase leading up to the main façades (which according to its history, is the newest part of the cathédrale, 14th to 16th century built) with two tall towers, large bay with stunning roses and lancets and richly decorated flamboyant style three portals. Inside is just unbelievably massive in size with three vessels with no transepts, three floors with huge arches, triforium (interior gallery) and tall windows. It's richly decorated with historical work of art especially the five Flemish tapestries and the Mausoleum of the Archbishops of Vienne, Armand de Montmorin and Henri-Oswald. This cathédrale deserves a really thorough exploring as there's so much to explore and experience. There's a wheelchair accessible entrance on the other side entrance. Great place for all ages and backgrounds.

The place to go. Built in 12th century, witnessing nomination of the Pope in 1100ish, later witnessing fake trial of Clemens V and Filip LE Belle who cancelled Order of Templars. Cool place, and truly not many other locations have such a history and significance… And, even better, not many people know this place nor its role in our history. I do suggest to come and see it. Do not forget to try ice creams on the North (left from the entrance) coffee place. The best in the region for sure.

Located approximately 25 minutes by train from Lyon, the Saint Maurice Cathedral in Vienne stands as a remarkable emblem of the city’s historical and architectural legacy. Historical Significance The cathedral’s origins trace back to the 4th century, with the current structure’s construction commencing around 1130. Over the centuries, it has witnessed significant events, including the consecration by Pope Innocent IV in 1251 and the Council of Vienne convened by Pope Clement V in 1311, which led to the dissolution of the Knights Templar .

As one of the few Medieval Catholic Cathedrals to have survived the French Revolution it structure demonstrates the Romanesque Architecture of the twelfth century at it lower half topped off by the later Gothic structure of the later fifteenth / sixteen . It interior is exquisite well worth a visit. As indeed is Vienne itself

Roman Temple of Augustus and Livia

The Roman Temple of Augustus and Livia, constructed in 1BC, is a significant part of the city's rich historical heritage. It stands alongside other ancient monuments such as the Theatre Antique and the Garden of Cybele with its Gallo-Roman archaeological remains. The city also showcases medieval architecture, including the Saint-Andre-le-Bas Church and the Saint-Maurice Cathedral.
Very well preserved (and rebuilt) remnant of Roman times. Large temple building with pillars, and an interior area which you may be able to visit (if gate is unlocked). No charge.
Doug N — Google review
Just a 25-minute train ride south of Lyon, the Temple of Augustus and Livia stands as one of France’s most remarkably preserved Roman monuments. Erected between 20 and 10 BCE, this Corinthian-style temple was dedicated to Emperor Augustus and his wife Livia, embodying the grandeur of Roman architecture in the provinces . Positioned at the heart of Vienne’s ancient forum, the temple features a hexastyle façade with six fluted columns and an elevated podium, reminiscent of the renowned Maison Carrée in Nîmes . Its survival through the ages is attributed to its conversion into a Christian church during the 5th century, later serving various roles including a courthouse and library, before restoration efforts in the 19th century reinstated its classical Roman appearance .
Wisanu T — Google review
When in Vienne… do as the Romans did! 🏛️ The Temple of Augustus & Livia is over 2,000 years old and still looking gorgeous. From imperial worship to medieval church to Revolutionary theatre – this place has seen it all. And the best part? You can wander up for free and feel like you’ve stepped straight into ancient Rome (minus the toga). Pro tip: swing by at sunset – the golden light on those Corinthian columns is unreal!

Vienne Ancient Roman Theatre

Concerts & Shows
Vienne Ancient Roman Theatre is a well-preserved stone-built theater dating back to around 40 AD, making it one of the largest in Roman Gaul. With a seating capacity of 13,000 spectators, it hosts live music and dance performances during the summer. The theater remained hidden until its rediscovery in 1908. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city from this ancient site and even catch a jazz concert. Climbing to the top offers both a great workout and stunning vistas.
The place itself is really magical. Was there for a concert and honestly sunset and music in this scenery was just perfect. Not to mention the obvious top notch sound quality even far up. Everything was easily accessible and the organisers really did a good job of allocating the space. Loved every second of the show 😻

Great Jazz Festival 2025. Went to see Parov Stellar. A little hot due to the heat wave - take water and a hat.

Ale to see Avenged Sevenfold. Probs the best organised outdoor arena in France. Queue moved along with no hassle. Security did a banging job and the Lyonnaise sausage hot dog was delicious. Good beer too. What’s not to love.

Very interesting Roman theatre with great views from the top out over Vienne. Only €3 entry fee & well worth the visit.

Fantastique venue for jazz festival "Jazz a Vienne". Superb location and acoustics, logistics are great with great beers, local food (fries with goat cheese sauce 😍), also great ice creams (chartreuse, banane flambée...), with a very smart setup so that you barely have to wait to get drinks or food. Love it all the way

Beautiful area, short lines to get food and drinks, epic acoustics.

Very historic site we viewed from above at the Pipet. It is well worth a visit as it is not expensive. The stage is used for world renowned Vienne Jazz festival at the end June every year

Great amphitheatre, most of the terracing has been rebuilt in 1920's to give people an understanding of how great it was. Well worth a visit. Still used today for concerts.

Musée et sites archéologiques de Saint-Romain-en-Gal in Département du Rhône offers a rich archaeological heritage, showcasing Ancient Roman life. The museum consists of an indoor exhibition and an outdoor excavation site. The indoor exhibition features a comprehensive audio guide providing insights into Ancient Vienne, along with large mosaics. On the other hand, the outdoor area allows visitors to explore extensive excavated ruins, offering a glimpse into the lives of wealthy Romans.
Lovely museum with great mosaics plus extensive outdoor ruins. Nice staff. A manageable size to see in 1-2 hours. Audio guides in English available and included in the modest ticket price.

Lots of interesting artifacts in the museum and interesting ruins in the surrounding grounds. Probably allow 2-3 hrs minimum but could easily have spent longer. Free audio guide covered inside and out. Helpful staff. Toilets and at least in the 2 outside 'picnic points' the was free drinking water
Neil F — Google review
Overall a nice museum with especially interesting floor mosaics that are in very good shape. A big collection of tools for day to day usage in Roman households. There's free english audio guides but not English written explanations (only French). The outside ruins are less interesting.
Stijn F — Google review
A total wow!! The French really know how to honor the past. Beautifully laid out with superb explanations plus a free audio guide. It is staggering to learn the museum was built on the remains of a Roman city. Thank you Vienne for preserving this ancient treasure (s).

There are 2 elements to this museum: (1) The indoor exhibition, (2) Outdoor excavation site. (1) Do pick up the audio guide it provides a vastly comprehensive story of the exhibition and paints the story of Ancient Vienne. Do not forget to go up the stairs to see the large mosaic! (2) A very vast excavated area with plenty to see! With a little imagination the lives and living of the wealthy Romans really comes to life here. Overall a fantastic Museum, 11/10 would recommend! Estimated time needed: 3-4hrs (With audio guide)
Joel L — Google review
Excellent outdoor site and inside museum. Especially appreciated the live water features. If you love Roman mosaics, this is your place. Two suggestions. One, they should tell you the audiogiude covers both inside and outside. Also, a locker would be better than their checkin system. Closed toed shoes for outside better.
S. K — Google review
Two part museum, one traditional inside part and then the actual ruins outside the museum. The inside part is housed in a modern spacious building, many beautiful mosaics but not so many other items. Many of the signs are in French only which is a bit of a shame (says the English spoken 😉). There is an optional audioguide though. The outside part was my favourite - fantastic feeling to walk along the old roads and think about the similarities between then and now. Many of the signs where a bit weathered and not the easiest to read though, but again an audioguide is available - but I prefer to have my hands free and rather read then listen. Plenty of staff and security people on the site - almost to many... but all friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit

Surprised at first by the small size of the park but subsequently reassured by meeting people passionate about this era, we were guided from start to finish. Workshops are planned throughout and everyone is involved to the delight of the children. We are immersed in this era from the start with very interesting explanations for children and adults. (Translated by Google) A very pleasant afternoon during which we were able to discover several periods of the Middle Ages in a fun way. Everyone can benefit from it because young and old see it from a different angle. The fights and exercises or stagings, although impressive, are certainly not of the same level as other parks (e.g. Puy Du Fou) but I don't think that is the will of the teams. We were in the presence of enthusiasts who like to talk and share their passion and all in a site that is well designed for the occasion. The price is very reasonable for the time spent! In short, we will come back without hesitation! (Original) Un après midi fort sympathique au cours duquel nous avons pu découvrir de façon ludique plusieurs époque du moyen âge. The Musée des Confluences, located in Lyon, is a striking modern museum that opened in December 2014. It boasts a futuristic architectural design and is situated at the confluence of the Rhone and Saone rivers. The museum features both permanent and temporary exhibitions that delve into anthropology, natural science, and human history. Its iconic structure resembles a transparent crystal cloud made of stainless steel and glass.
Really nice museum! The building itself is impressive and easy to navigate, so you don’t feel lost while walking around. Exhibits are well organised, interactive, and fun — I especially liked the audio parts and the buttons to press. The themes are diverse, from Darwin’s evolution to marine biology and astronomy, so there’s something for everyone. Most of the info is in French and English (though some videos are only French). The architecture is stunning, and the view from the 4th floor is a nice bonus. Definitely worth a visit!

very intresting and informative visit. All the exbits well explained in French and English. the building itself is cool. Do go to the 4th floor and admire the views. They had a information set on my name and saint i was named after

This might be one of the best modern museums I went to, really! It's very complete and I think kids would love it- there were a lot of enthusiastic ones when we went, at least. Their permanent expositions are very well detailed and easy to navigate, they're mostly about natural history, anthropology and culture, not much art history, or at least I didn't find one. Everything has french and english explications. On the entrance to each permanent exposition, there was a guide who would give a general feel of the pieces, and they could speak English too! Their temporary expositions were interesting and very well done, we went to the Amazon and the dreams ones, both very interesting. We didn't have to pay extra for these. They had elevators for all stages, and there were a lot of audio explanations too. On the terrace there was a lovely - albeit a bit expensive - cafe, with nice views. If you're not hungry, the terrace is included on the ticket price anyway, so you should go at least for the view. A must see in Lyon, for sure!

Amazing exhibitions. This was my second time here and it felt like the first. Thoughtfully arranged and curated museum perfect for all ages. The current Zombies exhibition is one of a kind.
Zsolt B — Google review
Interesting permanent and temporary exhibitions with lots of interactive elements - especially liked the Species wing of the permanent exhibits. Ticket price was reasonable (12 Euros) and the 4th floor outside terrace views are worth the price of admission! Oh yeah, and it has the most innovative shape for a museum!

Shopping
"The Village Outlet" is a shopper's haven located just 30 minutes from Lyon, France. It offers a wide range of fashion, sports, design, and cosmetic brands at discounted prices. The outlet features ample parking and various dining options. Visitors recommend arriving in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy a convenient shopping experience. Additionally, it provides interactive maps and seating areas for convenience.
We had a great day at the Village Outlet, easily 7-8 hours. There's a comprehensive variety of shops, with many of the key brands (both on the middle and higher end), so there's something for everyone. Outlet prices are rather compelling at most shops. A good tip would be to shortlist items first and make an entire round across all shops before making an informed purchase, to ensure you've gotten the best deal possible across all stores. It's a short 1.4km walk to and from the train station, which is more predictable. Do note that the train towards Lyon city centre is hourly, so time your departure from the outlet accordingly.

Very nice and big outlet shopping place, about 40 minutes from Lyon center by train , they have many good brands, coffee shops and restaurants, the prices are very reasonable..it does worth a visit.

Yazan Q — Google review
The prices are not the best, can find cheaper prices at Printemp with the sales! The service is good, mid range items. But I find the place poorly designed, poor wifi coverage and data doesn’t have signal inside the shops. Can’t find the reception for tax refund. Not tourist friendly. Mainly French crowd. Would I come back? Maybe. With better signage. They should consider hourly shuttle from the train station to make it more accessible. A notch lower than the other established outlets in Europe. If only prices can be cheaper by 10-20%, then it would be worth it.
Boon T — Google review
Great outlet, one of the best I have been to so far. It’s pretty small for an outlet but had a lot of good options for winter clothes and ski clothes in particular. They have an interactive map stands and a lot of places to seat. There is a big food court as well. Commute form Lyon is not super convenient (it’s a 20 mins walk from the station if you don’t have a car) but it’s expected for an outlet
Alexey S — Google review
nice place, enough shops, diverse shops, clean
I S — Google review
This opinion is dedicated to the reception only, and implies only my own point of view. The woman receptionist (the oldest one) is very rude. She is supposed to represent the whole mall center but she doesn’t have any skills in communication and quality of service. Her way of speaking to customers is very direct, before even introducing your question, she does find problems and say things like «  ah non non non on ne fait pas ça ici » /«  no no no we don’t do that here ». She is not helpful nor nice to people. She really needs to be trained in serving customers or find another job that fits her. We come often to The Village but going through the detax service is a real pain… she is very hasty, I really can’t understand why she is at the reception desk

This place is really cool. It’s free and easy to find. It is one of the cooler Roman ruins because it is still being used today. It was fun watching people enjoy it like a park. Would highly recommend visiting then heading over to the museum!

Amazing ruins to check out within a close walk from the Cathedral nearby. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to explore the inside of the museum, and since we were heading to Rome it seemed appropriate to postpone anthing Roman to our later trips. The ruins themselves however, still are able to immerse you in history and come alive as you walk through them.
Minh N — Google review
A place to marvel, was for the community back then, still is now (so I heard). Will be wonderful to be part of activities here, but even just a quick stop on the way back from the Basilica already gave me glimpses of stories this awesome place has. Basking in the morning sun, this open air theater sure is special. Do visit the museum if you have the chance.
Milka C — Google review
Very easy to get to using the funicular which was about 2 EURO, one stop from the town cathedral. The ruins are open for people to just wander around and take photos, there is a museum that I did not go into. From there it's a short walk trip the basilica and the amazing views from there. You can also walk from there back to the old town which includes a very long and steep staircase.
Wing C — Google review
Walking through the theatre feels like stepping back in time, with its impressive stone seating, partially intact stage, and gentle slopes inviting exploratio. The site is remarkably well preserved, allowing visitors to walk freely among the ruins and soak up the atmosphere where audiences once gathered for performances nearly two thousand years ago.
Muhammad F — Google review
This was a very happy but unexpected discovery. There are many information points explaining what each space used to be, and this is supported by images of the buildings -this is certainly helpful because you’re only seeing stones! A must when visiting Lyon!
Ana T — Google review
The Ampitheatre was still in good condition considering how old it is. There are a lot of modern overlays here as the space is used for events etc. I think it would be an amazing venue. Go to the museum which tells the story of how Lyon was founded by the Romans. The Ampitheatre is so out in the open and there is no shade so be careful on hot days. You can look at the Ampitheatre for free but the museum has an entry fee.

The Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière is a 19th-century religious monument in Lyon, France. It features four octagonal towers and houses a museum showcasing religious art. Regular Catholic services are held at the basilica. Visitors can enjoy a romantic evening in Lyon by staying at the Boudoir Spa, which offers luxurious accommodations with amenities such as a Jacuzzi and hammam, providing an ideal setting for special occasions or simply spending quality time together.
You can see the Basilica from almost everywhere in the Lyon old town but it is well worth heading up to see it up close. Take the funicular (walking back down is nice) to get there. The Basilica is in such lovely condition. The murals look amazing and there is a real sense of peacefulness. Make sure you take the time to look closely at the murals. My favourite was the one depicting Joan of Arc. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy. We didn't have to wait to go in. It is free to visit. There is a lovely courtyard next to the Basilica where you get some amazing views over Lyon.

The Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière is one of Lyon’s most iconic landmarks, visible from almost anywhere in the city. Personally, I usually find the interiors of Orthodox churches more spiritual, but this basilica’s interior really amazed me — it’s beautiful and inspiring. The exterior is just as impressive, and the panoramic view over Lyon from the top is fantastic. You can get there easily by tram, or hike up if you prefer (which I’d also recommend). Nearby, the Roman Theatre and archaeological site are free to visit and very well preserved. Both the basilica and the ruins are definitely worth seeing.
Dimitris — Google review
Arriving late evening in Lyon, our Uber driver took us here on a quick detour to our hotel ‘because it is so very beautiful, and you guys can see view of Lyon skyline from there’. Indeed it was a beautiful Basilica, majestic even in the dark of night. Indeed it was an impressive view of Lyon. Very grateful of him, blessed his soul. I got the chance to go back the next morning, and although did not got the chance to go inside, my appreciation grew even more about the opportunity to visit. A must go when you are in Lyon. If your hotel is not nearby, they have tram from the city center that stops directly in front.
Milka C — Google review
Beautifully located on top of a hill, and Best to take an Uber to get there. There is also a vista point on the side of the church with great views of the whole city. If you can walk down the hill, you can visit a nice museum with an outdoor Greek theatre. You can also take a short cut and walk the stairs down the hill

It is a marvelous place to visit even when you are not Christian. The interior of the basilica Notre-Dame of Fourvière in Lyon, is tremendously high. The walls are astonishing and it drops your mouth down to the floor. I have not taken many pictures inside because my eyes were focused on all the tiny details in each stunning things my eyes would lay eyes on. If one thing to visit in Lyon, it clearly is there and Paul Bocuse Market^^.

Nestled in the historic heart of Lyon, the Musée Cinéma et Miniature is a treasure trove for film enthusiasts and miniature art lovers alike. Set within a beautifully restored 17th-century building, this museum showcases an impressive array of hyper-realistic miniature scenes that transport visitors into the world of cinema.
This museum was very well laid out. We enjoyed the smaller exhibition rooms which were usually themed in some way. We absolutely loved the Wes Anderson exhibit and would definitely recommend visiting if you enjoy his movies. I'm personally not into a lot of movies which definitely took away from the experience. However, if I were into them I can guarantee this is an amazing place to visit. Just fair warning to anyone like me that this might not be the perfect place for you. The miniature exhibits were excellent, we were in awe at how detailed some of the pieces were!
Katelyn — Google review
Really enjoyed my visit here - so many interesting exhibits and things to see. I think the best part is the fact that the films referenced and the props from the films are films that are very well-known, not just random French films. Would highly recommend to people as an activity in Lyon, however my one small issue was that we bought tickets in advance but still had to line up in the same queue as everyone else, so buying a ticket in advance was fairly pointless, only decreased the price slightly. But other than that really loved it.
Peter C — Google review
AMAZING! I think should be a must do when you visit Lyon with kids or just if you like movies and a different type of art. They have created incredible mini and real size scenes from movies and normal life things! A different way to know history as well! We went without tickets and ending paying less because they have a family packet. If you are 2 adults and one or more kids, it is definitely cheaper.
Angelica B — Google review
Worth visiting. You should go and see everything they placed in the museum. At first we enjoyed the props & artifacts from famous movies. However what we liked most is the miniature room, carefully detailed and amazinggg
Phuc N — Google review
Incredible and unique museum. They have some really cool pieces from films, which are still interesting to look at even if you haven’t seen them. The miniature section was a good surprise also—they are so detailed and realistic! While it is a bit on the more expensive side, it’s worth it and it is an independent business.
Evie F — Google review
Walking through this museum felt like stepping straight back into my childhood (I was born in the mid-80s), and it was nothing short of magical. From Star Wars to Batman 1989, from Aliens to Beetlejuice, the collection is packed with iconic treasures that instantly spark memories of the films that defined an era. According to one of the staff, the Darth Vader mask here is the only original one on public display today, that alone is worth the visit! What sets this place apart is how personal it feels. I love the great art museums of France, but this was different, so much more relatable. Every piece triggered a wave of nostalgia, reminding me of movies I adored and had nearly forgotten, and reigniting the sense of wonder that first made me fall in love with cinema. These films came from the golden age of moviemaking, where practical effects and early CGI blended to create timeless magic that today’s movies rarely capture. Seven floors are filled with cinematic history, and while you can see it all in about 1–2 hours, it’s the kind of place where you’ll want to linger at your favorites. For me, highlights included the Darth Vader helmet, the full Batman 1989 suit and vehicles, the wonderfully complete Beetlejuice exhibit, and the jaw-dropping animatronic Alien that makes you feel like you’re right on set. Seeing Thor’s hammer (Mjolnir), Iron Man’s glove, and nods to classics like Indiana Jones, Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, The Mask, and even Fast & Furious only added to the thrill. If you grew up with movies from the late 80s through the early 2000s, this museum is pure nostalgia wrapped in cinema magic. It’s a time machine back to Saturday nights at the theater or trips to Blockbuster, and it will leave you smiling long after you leave. I can’t recommend it highly enough. As a bonus, all the staff that work there are friendly, knowledgeable and passionate! Update: the top floor which houses the miniatures was closed when we arrived for renovations. If this is important to you, come back when they are completed.
Peter N — Google review
At first I thought it was quite expensive, but it was really worth it! They had original sceneries, props costumes, and of course, the miniatures, which were really amazing to see. Everything was really well indicated, it was easy to navigate, even with our bad french. Some of the items haf indications in English, but not all. All props had access for kids to see, too. It wasn't crowded when we went, it was a Tuesday, so we could enjoy ourselves in our own pace and there was no need to book in advance. Don't miss on the patio outside, which is free and really beautiful as well!

Vieux Lyon, located on the River Saône quayside, is a picturesque area characterized by Renaissance-era mansions with terracotta-tiled roofs and hidden courtyards. The medieval Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste boasts an ornate astronomical clock, while the Movies & Miniature Museum showcases scale models by miniaturist Dan Ohlmann. The neighborhood's hilly, medieval streets are lined with fine-dining restaurants and stylish bars offering Beaujolais wines.

VISITER LE VIEUX LYON & SES TRABOULES

The sightseeing tour agency Visiter le Vieux Lyon et ses traboules is a great way to get lost in the medieval town of Lyon and explore its secret passages. The winding alleyways are perfect for Silk Merchants, as they made it easy to move about for 90000 workers. They're like a maze, amazing, mysterious and too dark to live in; Suitable for visiting by candlelight only!

(Translated by Google) I don't have enough words to describe this neighborhood (where I live) and its traboules. You can get lost for days without difficulty. We talk about the history of the city but also the great History of France. To be done obligatory.

(Translated by Google) Very pretty districts of Lyon, Saint Jean of course with the square, the Cathedral, the pedestrian streets, the traboules to discover, the restaurants and shops. The funicular to go up to Fourvière and the Basilica, magnificent view of Lyon and its surroundings, then possibly go back down on foot. And don't forget the Saint Georges district, less touristy, but which also has its charm.

(Translated by Google) A pleasant tour of the traboules, but difficult to access for people with reduced mobility who want to visit alone. A companion is required to push open the heavy doors. This is despite the ones indicated by the Lyon Tourist Office. Not all of them are left open.

Chocolatier Sève is a renowned market offering an array of gourmet delights such as cheeses, cured meats, and exquisite desserts. The founders have garnered numerous accolades for their commitment to traditional craftsmanship and the creation of delectable treats. With over 30 years of experience, this establishment continues to impress with its sumptuous creations available at multiple locations in Lyon.
We had to try a “Tarte À La Praline” during our short stay in Lyon and it was excellent. Very tasty crust. A must try. Service was quite slow as there was only 1 person assisting customers which was not her fault and she did her best to help everyone.
Will C — Google review
The service was excellent, but unfortunately, the chocolates were too sweet for my taste.
April W — Google review
In my quest to find the best macaron in Lyon I systematically tried a macaron at each shop in the food hall. Sève’s were by far the best, with my favourites being 1) Caramel 2) Coconut 3) Coffee. I must’ve gone back 3-4 times in one day. They are quite expensive, which meant I could only afford to try 8, but this is reflected in the quality. The staff were lovely and very accommodating of my terrible French. Merci!

The pastries are so pretty, it feels almost guilty to eat them. Nonetheless, I ate them. I ordered the chocolate mousse one and I was thinking of getting more but it's so rich that I was very full at the end. I'd like to go back and more of the pastries. There were dozens and dozens!

This is a nice indoor market. It has quite different atmosphere to la boqueria market in Barcelona. Both of them are great place to see and eat. But, this market has unique features like quiet and less crowded. Local fruits, cured meat , and seafood were excellent. My wife and I enjoyed cured meat and varieties of seafood, oysters, sea urchins, shrimps, and clams. They know how to sell and packages cured meat. One of stores used a vacuum sealed package for cured meat. We felt safe to carry them. All of staffs were friendly and kind. One of members even made a luxury restaurant reservation for us. I think that they know good local restaurants because they are the food suppliers.

Even if you are not a gourmand, I totally recommend this place if you want to have a true Lyonnais experience. The food smells and tastes excellent and the cakes and cookies are amazing.

So many choice- and none of them are wrong! Had fresh oysters- and when I say fresh I mean that they tasted as if plucked out of the ocean! Served with a friendly smile and quick service. 10 out of 10 will be going back!

Set in an old convent, this microbrewery was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the tour, beer making lesson, and samples of a variety of beers. The building has undergone extensive renovations inside. The beer was refreshing and tasty. They have live bands some nights.
