Lapland Hotels Snow Village is a unique accommodation option offering rooms and suites made entirely of ice, as well as cozy cabins with private hot tubs. Every November, skilled ice sculptors gather in Kirovsk to create the stunning Snow Village, featuring intricate ice sculptures and themed displays that change annually. Visitors can enjoy thrilling activities like riding a snowmobile-pulled giant banana or exchanging vows in the enchanting Ice Chapel.
This year was probably one of the best years I've ever experienced in Snow Village in the last 8 years in a row. The underwater life theme this year is absolutely beautifully created , well planned, and precisely organised. There is a lot of hard work and patience behind project and i admire everyone who participated in this beautiful winter project.

It was a part of the experience of Saaga, Hotel Lapland at Yllas, Lapland, Finland. There were beautiful ice carvings, a music room, theatre, ice restaurant, glass restaurant, honeymoon suite, souvenir store and many more. The hot chocolate and different alcohol options were awesome. Every year they build the snow structures in the arrival of winters with artificial snow and it gradually melts during summer. The place has its own tour guides, who will introduce you to all the places inside. I highly recommend visiting this place.
Arka M — Google review
The ice exhibit was really amazing and worth the price but just note that you have to pay for it separately, even if you're eating dinner there. The ice restaurant was also amazing, but you're really going for the experience and not necessarily the food. In full disclosure, we went on Christmas Eve and it was their first night open of the season, and it was a set menue, but 48 Euros for kids chicken nuggets and fries hurt. Adult meals were good. Ice bar in the ice exhibit was fun, unique, etc. Bottom line - it's an expensive endeavor but when you consider the insane amount of work and artistry that goes into building the place each year, you'll feel better about the cost.
Larry I — Google review
Fantastic experience at a place that exists only in the most northern regions of our globe! The amount of hours and dedication spent to create this art is astonishing. Well done!
Sander V — Google review
It’s something very special. I found the entrance fee of €25 very steep though. You’re basically done in 45 mins or less. Dress very warm! It’s colder inside than outside.
Laguz E — Google review
Awesome experience. Love the two type of the art one north mythology and one Finish. Rooms and art work looked so cool. Loved the touch of ice bar and drinks in ice glasses. There was some queue but just walk one lap and there will be no queue. Very impressive place. Staff members have great humor loved it.
Martins F — Google review
Visiting here was really cool, especially for someone like me who comes from a tropical island. The talent and art was stunning and just the whole idea of them coming up with themes and finding artist from around the world to bring it all together is just fantastic. This year’s theme was the Nordic Mythology and we had so much fun on the ice slide. We also had lunch in the ice restaurant and I enjoyed the soup.
Jenita D — Google review
Very good. Awesome ice hotel. This year's theme is Nordic legend so far there's Thor's hammer made of ice. Hotel is still being built but the ice sculptures inside are amazing. Bar prices are not cheap but then you'd expect them not to be with the amount of work that's gone in to build the hotel.

Husky Ranch Lapland is a family-owned farm in the heart of Lapland, offering unique adventures for small groups. Visitors can enjoy husky safaris and other tours around the ranch. The owners are known for their friendliness and helpfulness, providing a beautiful ride with informative guidance and ending with a cozy fire and berry tea. Guests also have the opportunity to interact with friendly dogs, including adorable puppies.
I recently had the incredible opportunity to experience husky sledding, and it was truly unforgettable. The adventure combined the breathtaking beauty of nature with the exhilarating energy of these amazing dogs. From the moment I arrived, the excitement was palpable. The huskies were eager and full of life, their tails wagging enthusiastically as they prepared to set off. The guides were knowledgeable and clearly passionate about their work, ensuring we felt safe and well-prepared for the journey. One of the highlights was learning to steer the sled myself, under the guidance of the expert instructors. It gave me a newfound appreciation for the skill involved in managing the team of dogs and navigating the trails. The experience was not only thrilling but also deeply educational. I learned about the history and care of these hardworking dogs, as well as their unique personalities and the bond they share with their handlers. I would highly recommend husky sledding to anyone seeking a memorable and exhilarating outdoor adventure. It's an experience that stays with you long after the snow melts.

I am delighted to share my thoughts about this exceptional business. Juho and Hana are truly remarkable individuals who exhibit a profound dedication and love for their huskies, treating them as cherished family members. Their dogs are not only adorable but also exude calmness, affection, and joy when interacting with people. Having been a loyal client for many years, I can confidently recommend their services to everyone. Juho and Hana's organization is impeccable, with well-planned activities and high-quality, warm clothing to ensure no one feels the cold while on the track. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to experience the magic they offer. You will never regret embarking on this journey, but you might regret missing out on such a memorable experience.

This has to be one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever done! We had a lot of luck with the sun setting right when we started which made this moment special and unforgettable to me! For somebody who’s into dogs this is a must do!
Flair B — Google review
Wauw wauw wauw! This was a true core memory!!!! We enjoyed every minute of it, the welcoming by Hanna and Huyge (sorry if I write your name wrong 😜), hugging the husky’s, riding the sleigh, drinking some berry juice at the fire pit,.. thank you for everything 🤍
Magali H — Google review
We loved our visit to Husky Ranch Lapland! The husky puppies were adorable, the big dogs were amazing, and the owners couldn’t have been nicer. You can feel how much they care for their dogs. Definitely worth a visit!

This place was truly amazing. The people that own and run the ranch are extremely friendly and helpful. They take you on a beautiful ride and teach you everything you need to know. You get a nice fire and berry tea after your ride. All the dogs are so friendly we got to play with them and even hold the new puppies.. Even after we left the owners were so kind they called us personally to tell us the auroras were out so we could see them. If you want an incredible unforgettable adventure don’t pass this place up!
Crystal P — Google review
The absolute best experience!! Juho and Hanna are absolutely AMAZING. So passionate and kind! Juho went out of his way to teach us about the dogs and about dog-sledding, and cook a delicious authentic meal midway. He cares so deeply about his dogs (one dog barked strangely halfway through the ride, and he immediately stopped all the sleds to make sure the dog was okay). The dogs themselves stole our hearts - so unbelievably cute and excited, happy to be hugged! We had a once-in-a-lifetime amazing time and would do this again in a heartbeat!!!! Thank you for the best time!
Jocelyn Y — Google review
We had a great experience on the half day tour. Juho, the owner, was very welcoming and takes great care of his dogs. The trip was fun, and we enjoyed the camp fire at the end as well. Would definitely recommend this!

Yllästunturi Visitor Center Kellokas is a top nature center in Lapland, offering great service and free access to its museum and exhibition. Visitors can also find a local souvenir shop with quality products. The friendly staff provides helpful advice for trekking, biking, and other trips in the area. Additionally, the center offers free parking and limited information on local trails and routes. In winter, there are snowshoe routes available from the center.
Free parking and visitor centre with limited free info on local trails and routes. Maps are paid for (€10) but most shorter trails are well marked and signposted so not really necessary unless you’re doing a longer route. In winter there are snow shoe routes from here, but most were packed down enough to be fine in normal walking boots.

Great exhibition- you can spend 15min or 2h here - exciting also for kids (for a bit)
Sofia H — Google review
They used to have a cafe there which was nice for my in-laws while we went for a hike. Without, the complete experience is just not there. But I recommend going for the museum aspects too. Just be prepared to go away from there afterwards to get something to eat.

Café had fresh raspberry donuts with a unique raspberry filling, and the coffee was amazing! Other food and pastry options were available along with a lunch menu. The main visitors center is connected with a souvenir shop, telescope lookout on to the Lapland hills and tundra. Plenty of history, nature and local activities. Mountain bike rental is also located on site.

Probably the best nature center in Lapland. Great service, free museum, free exhibition. Local souvenir shop with nice products. If you are looking for advice for your trekking/biking or any trip, the friendly personnel will help you. If you are in the area, go have a look! It won't cost you anything, but you'll probably learn something new.

Large, well-stocked information center. Lots of maps and good advice from the staff. There is a spectacular museum exhibit on the bottom floor which is worth an hour of your time, at minimum. We took a ~2 hour round trip hike from here to a small Kota with a fireplace. For an even better experience, bring some sausages to grill.

We have had a great experience with this company. The staff is very friendly and patient. I recommend wearing the clothing they provide (including shoes), as the winter weather in northern Finland tends to be extreme.

Completed 2 tours with this group. Huskie and Motoski + reindeer. Had a wonderful time on both. Facilities and guides were great and personable. Experiences themselves were awesome. Reindeer ride was a bit different to the huskie ride the day before, but still enjoyable. Highly recommend this group for a safe and enjoyable time. Thanks to our guide Greg!

Today I took part in the bus tour to the snow village, everything went very well, I booked at the office in Äkäslompolo at short notice. Started on time and very friendly, informative support from guide Ali. The snow village is very impressive with the figures made of ice and snow, ice bar, ice disco, etc.

What a great experience to visit Yllas and make trips with Lapland Safaris. Their enthousiasm and love for their beautiful country made our excursions great fun to do. We thank staf and guides at Lapland Safris for making our winterbreak a huge succes and an unforgettable memory. PS, nice option for teambuilding trips for companies.
Peter S — Google review
Wow! We had an excellent snowmobile trip with Bartek, our tourguide. We were lucky with the sun on our 3 hour tour. It was just the 2 of us and we both had our own snowmobile, which I can highly recommend. It will cost a little more, but I got the time to get used to riding it so the second half of the trip I could go faster and I was enjoying it even more! We were happy with our guide. He gave good instructions and was fun to have around. Lapland safaris provided us with good gear, so it was all safe and fun to ride.

Seven Fells Up

.....where to start?.....about a year ago we was planning the trip to Äkäslompolo ....it all still seems like yesterday. Thanks to the help of Sabrina and Brian "7 Fells Up" and "Due North Safari" everything worked perfectly from the beginning, we managed to do all 7 Fells in 9 days and also spontaneously add a snowmobile ride. Thanks to the exceptional guides, each tour turned out to be an adventure, an experience, they make you feel part of a family, they even make you forget that the weather wasn't perfect, and yes that the only part that can't be planned hehehe . And several months later the memories are still as vivid as if a few days had passed. Again a big thank you to everyone we met and if you are in the area I highly recommend you go to them to explore the Äkäslompolo region.
Alvaro P — Google review
We did 2 tours with 7fellsup - and disussed some of their other tours. The tours were great - see below, but having professional advice on what would suite us was key to the sucess. We did the lappish dinner tour and the moderate snowshoe toptour to Kauer. Both suited for not that young beginners on snowshoes. The firm also have difficult tours, even 5 day hikes. So something for everyone. I envie the ones that are in shape for those tours, but even though we did beginner tours they were fun and beautifull adventures. Well done 7fellsup. The lappish dinner tour: Snowshoeing through the silence of the old Finnish forest was beautiful, especially with the snow falling. The highlight for me was the short quiet time to our selves at the Sami's ancient sacred rock. That was magical. Then a fun short trip back to the cozy kota, where the guide had lit the fire and warmed up the fine reindeer stew. Nice with lingonberries and pickled cucumbers ;). We were asked to use our headlamps as little as possible throughout the trip, which enhanced the experience of nature. Just one example of many that 7fellsup really focuses on details to give us a amazing experience. The top tour to Kauer: The most beautiful "walk" through the forest guided to see the animal tracks in the snow and being told about the forest and its inhabitants. On the way the guide made sure that we could do as much deepsnow snowshoing as we wanted or if less adventures (me) stay on the beaten track for most of the time. It may be beginners - but I got the excersise of the day :) ...Perfect!! And the thrill at the top. What a view to enjoy, while drinking warm juice and eating the homemade cakes served by the guide...I know - we were lucky having no wind, so we could stay long waching the the sun set, making the tour down a real twillight experience. And when it got too dark to see, the guide had headlamps for all. yet a nice detail. We felt safe, cared for and informed by 7fellsup's guide ... getting the best out of the magnificant nature at Äkaslompolo.
Gitte T — Google review
We did the trip to Kuer with our guide Anette. It was a wonderful experience, the silence of the forest and the beautiful views. Anette also had a lot to tell us about the forest, Finnish nature and which animals leave which tracks in the snow. The homemade cakes were also very tasty.
Martin W — Google review
We enjoyed 3 snowshoe hikes with this company and all 3 of them were awesome! The guides are really knowledgeable and Sabrina is really helpful and generous. Thank you so much! We would definitely book again with you!
Britta P — Google review
We went on a half day snowshoe hike with Anette. The gear is good, the views were great and Anette was very knowledgeable and over all a good guide!
Mark — Google review
Just returned from the 5 day snowshoe hut to hut trekking and fell in love with the white, peaceful Arctic landscape! An unforgettable trip with a great group of people and our guides who took into account individual needs and made sure that everyone felt comfortable, safe and supported throughout. Food was bountiful and delicious and included many local delicacies! The accommodation in the huts very cosy with a fireplace and the highlight a sauna in the wilderness cooling down with snow angels! Last but not least...communication with Sabrina was excellent as she helped me organise my stay before and after the trip, as I stayed longer due to my flight schedule. All in all an amazing experience with great value for money!
Μaria K — Google review
We were recommended by a local guide to contact 7 Fells Up for off-trail snowshoeing tours, and it was a great tip that we happily pass on to others. We did two snowshoeing tours with them in mid March after speaking with their wonderful organizer, Sabrina. The first adventure was an evening tour to see the northern lights from a higher elevation. As the snow kept falling we were never able to see any northern lights, but it was a great opportunity to try off-trail snowshoeing in very fresh snow with our friendly guide, Adrien, who also brought along blueberry juice, Sabrina’s famous homemade cloudberry cakes, and sausages to grill over the fire in one of the area’s many “kotas”. Our second snowshoeing tour was a half-day event up one of the “fells”. Our very spirited and knowledgable Finnish guide Päivi led the way as we snowshoed off-trail upwards through the forest to a kota just below the tree line where we took a break for grilled reindeer sandwiches and more of Sabrina’s cloudberry cakes. They are to die for by the way. After that we continued up over a moonlike landscape to the top of the fell through untouched snow, beautiful sunshine and stunning panoramic views of Lapland. At the top we had a 360° view and could spot all of the other nearby fells. We then descended the mountain taking a different route while Päivi gladly told us more about the wilderness and the wildlife we were seeing, including a soaring Sea Eagle, an evasive, hard-to-spot Willow grouse and a Northern Woodpecker just meters away from us but too busy pecking for insects to pay us any attention. She also explained to us the concept of Kello trees. Both snowshoeing tours were true highlights of our trip to Ylläs, and we too highly recommend 7 Fells UP. Thank you Sabrina for everything. Vielen Dank für alles. Tusind tak!

Snow Fun Safaris offers an exhilarating experience for adventure seekers in the snowy landscapes of Akaslompolo. My journey began with a snowmobile tour, where I met my guide Joosef and hopped onto a sleigh while my kids enjoyed the ride. The guides, Antti and Sami, were fantastic throughout our safari, ensuring that every moment was filled with excitement. We even took a break to savor a traditional Finnish meal featuring reindeer alongside mashed potatoes and cranberries—an authentic culinary delight!
We had an absolutely amazing snowmobile trip. Us and the two kids couldn’t have loved it more. The scenery was stunning, our guide Anti was brilliant. So calm, friendly and full of great facts & information. Next time we’ll go out for longer!

Simply brilliant. Easy to Book, super friendly and all round amazing experience. We booked a last minute Ice fishing safari and the team couldn’t have been better. Our guides were so knowledgeable and informative not only on fishing but Finnish culture too. Thank you from The Byrne Family

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a snowmobile safari with Snow Fun Safari in Äkäslompolo, and it was nothing short of spectacular! Our guides, Anttí and Sami, were exceptional, making sure every moment was enjoyable and unforgettable. Midway through the tour, we paused to indulge in a traditional Finnish meal they expertly prepared. The dish featured reindeer, mashed potatoes, and cranberries accompanied by pickles, a delightful treat that was both authentic and delicious. They kindly accommodated dietary needs, ensuring gluten and lactose-free options were available. For dessert, we savored a scrumptious blueberry cake. The tour included warm clothes, which were crucial for the chilly adventure, and added great value to the experience. The following day, we joined them for an ice fishing tour. Although no food was provided on this tour, they supplied snowshoes and warm attire, keeping us comfortable throughout the day. Anttí and Sami's dedication to ensuring everyone had a fantastic time was evident in their constant care and attention. They truly enhance the Snow Fun Safari experience, making it a must for anyone visiting the area. I look forward to returning next year for another memorable adventure!

Could not recommend the snowmobiling tour more. We had the best time going through the forest, watching the sunrise/sunset and our guide was lovely and very encouraging. Another big highlight was the halfway stop where we learnt some fun facts about Finland and enjoyed some sweets, coffee and hot berry juice provided by our guide. Definitely book this if you’re in Ylläs!!!

We rented 5 snowmobiles for our group of 10 and had an amazing day. The people at Snow Fun Safaris are very kind and relaxed. Highly recommended!

I can 100% recommend the snowmobile tours. We did one last year and booked another one today, this time a longer one. We were lucky enough to be on our own with our guide Jussi. He adapted the route and speed perfectly to our skills and needs and also included a few small detours. It was fast and challenging but never overwhelming. I had an incredible amount of fun. The views and nature were breathtakingly beautiful.
Martin W — Google review
We did the Yllas 718 snow mobile safari with Snow Fun Safaris. Very good organized and beautiful tour. The tour took about 3 hours, and we stopped for a hot beverage in the middle. The reason for not giving 5 stars is because the maximum speed was around 40 - 50 km/h. And this for the last quarter of the tour, at the beginning the speed was capped at 30 - 40 km/h. On the website was mentioned that the Yllas 718 tour was for people with a taste for speed. It could be possible that this was due to other drivers scared to go faster or, this is the standard speed limit. Overall very nice experience. Would recommend.

This was a great tour. Marcel was fantastic and the scenery was spectacular. There were 2 families in our group, 6 kids (4-9) and 7 adults. All were entertained even though no fish were caught.

Well organised dog sledding tour. 5km was short but long enough in the cold conditions. The dogs and puppies are adorable. Sitting in the warm hut was a god send. Good clear instructions were given for the tour and it was easy to do. Sadlt the bus broke down on the way back but a replacement qas quickly dispatched. Good trip.

Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, located in Kittilä in Finnish Lapland, is the third largest national park in Finland. Established in 2005, it aims to preserve the unique landscape of fells surrounded by forests and mires. The park offers marked walking trails for visitors to explore its vast landscapes and enjoy the cleanest air in the world.
I've run all of pallas-yllätunturi national park, and it is without a doubt an amazing breath taking place to go to and experience. I often dream of returning to such a unique place to visit these old and eroded fells

Hiked the trail to Keimiötunturi. You can park your car on the car park next to the road leading to Tunturikeimiö. Walk up to Tunturikeimiö. There will be a sign pointing to the Keimiötunturi trail right after you pass the cafe. Follow the trail where you will find another smaller sign on a tree on the first left in the pine tree forest. After around 400m, you will arrive at a wooden reindeer fence. You can go through it by moving some of the poles to the side. Make sure to close it after you get inside. Continue the path where it will soon start getting very steep and rocky. The entire trail has about 600m of elevation, 6km round trip, and takes around 2-3 hours. The view keeps getting better as you go up. Highly recommended!

It's a blessing to visit this national park! We first went to the visitor center to have a map and some guidance, and then we went to sisu to rent gear and for more details. Spent two nights in the mountains and was lucky to see the aurora. Will come back again soon

Aitoa Lappia, jossa hienoa vaeltaa pientenkin lasten kanssa (Orava Avenue lähtee päätöstä ja vie taukotuvalle, jossa tulistelupaikka)./ Real Lapland with awesome fell views all around. Easy to hike with children also (check Orava Avenue ..it starts from the main Road before the hotel and leads to a cottage with camp Firenze place) . Safe to hike as you can see faraway ..so few trees. Can see reindeers if lucky. Good place to snowshoeing also if not foggy weather. Hart to find overnight places as only one hotel.

Nature, nature, lovely undisturbed nature, clean air, wind and sound of streams. Drink clean, cold, revitilizing water from streams, listen to birds songs, follow reindeers in forest but be aware of them on the road. Despite of ocasional rain we had great time hiking and sleeping in huts/cottages and tent. Ruska is especially wonderful time to come to Lapland. And any other ti.e as well if you love nature and you want to escape city. Unfortunately my Telia connection was almost always working in here. Though putiing airplane mode can fix this problem if you want to enjoy yourself without getting disturbed 😊😁😌😎

Returned in 2019, for the fifth year in the national park. Why? I love x-crountry skiing, the routes are well maintained and the huts spread across the parks are amazing. This is a must, of course seen the northern lights on three nights was a wonderful

Amazing place. The views from top of Taivaskero are just stunning. Though some might think that ascend is a little bit demanding. The trail via Pyhäkero, to the top where the Olympic 🔥 was set on fire 6.7.1952 for Helsinki Olympic games, is being upgraded during summer 2020 and will be gravel path at least up to the shoulder between Pyhäkero and Taivaskero. The nature center is open daily 9-17 during skiseason and summertime (17.2-3.5 and 1.6-27.9), but changes lightly after that. Open year around on weekdays 9-16, but closed on weekends on shoulder seasons (28.9-16.2) and (4-31.5). From here you get all the info you need to be able to do the hike to Hetta or if you've done the hike the other way, you can buy the Hetta-Pallas sleeve tag from here. Nice display of the nature and it's inhabitants you might come across on your hike. Free entry and restrooms for everybody.

Great place to explore with nice trails, the highest hill is a excellent experience and had the chance to see many reindeer in their natural environment hanging around.
Fabian M — Google review
Good service, nice postcards and books. Also interesting information about the geologist origin of the area. You can find there presented plants and animals that you can see or meet in the national park. Of course other useful information as maps, the boat shuttle to Hetta over Ounnasjärvi lake and toilets. Hiking maps with huts and tracks of the area situated outside.

Valuable service center at a key location at Pallastunturi. Be sure to check the opening hours if you plan to visit them. As I visited them with my family, the staff was very helpful and gave us good advice concerning avalanche risk and route planning. We had a great hike up the Palkaskero based on their advise and recommendations!

The Torassieppi Eco Reindeer Resort is an excellent destination for a Christmas Santa visit, boasting a helpful and friendly staff. There are plenty of activities available, such as dog sled rides, reindeer rides, snowmobiling, and fishing on the lake. The provided clothing ensures that guests stay warm throughout their adventures. Families will thoroughly enjoy their time here. The lovely Christina deserves thanks for her guiding services. This resort offers an absolutely fantastic stay that comes highly recommended.
We had an amazing time in Torassieppi. The staff was great, all the guides and employees are lovely. The food is delicious and the tours are very well organized and well equipped, I strongly recommend. The resort is far from the city, so you need to bring everything you need with you, no options for shopping.

We have spent a very nice week in Torassieppi eco resort . Together with our friends, another French couple, we are used to travel away from touristic places. We found there a calm and nice place , at family scale in a superb environment. Staff , activities, cabins, food, landscape , all deserve a high rating. We highly recommend .

Amazing adventure holiday. Reindeer sledding, husky mushing, skimobile rides on frozen lakes, snowshoe walks in Pallas mountains and sampling of Finnish food and drinks... Food was excellent in Torassieppi and the service second to none. We were very well looked after, our guides were very professional… All topped up with great Norther lights experience.

Great place for a Christmas Santa visit. Lovely staff all really helpful and friendly. Lots of activities from dog sled and reindeer rides to snowmobiling and fishing on the lake. The clothes they provide keep you toasty warm so cold is not really an issue. Family loved it. Thanks again to the lovely Christina who was our guide.

Spent a fantastic holiday from 27th of January 2019 to 3rd of February. Lots of activities including, husky sledge ride Reindeer sleigh rides, ice fishing, snow shoe walk in the National Park and much more. Fantastic time and you never know you could see the Aurora. Would highly recommend. Food is fantastic, staff great and cabins warm and very comfortable.

Absolute must to stay if you are in this area. Fantastic selection of all things snow related to do here. Stay at least one night in a Dome over looking the frozen lakes and directly up at the night sky.
Simon P — Google review
I recommend visiting the ice hotel and staying at the auroora dome. It's beautiful, the breakfast is great and the visit to the reindeer farm is worhth a trip! But don't get tricked to stay at the ice hotel. When you arrive they give you the grand tour and show you the 'safe room', where you can go to when you're too cold. 'Rarely used', the guide said, but when we got there shortly afther midnight, we had to sleep on the floor because all the beds were occupied. In the morning we realised that out of 15 ^people staying at the hotel 8 were sleeping in the safe room (6 on the floor!). I would recommend spending the extra money for the dome instead of spending the night on the floor.

The center provides multilingual text options and has a fully-fledged auditorium for film screenings. Visitors praise the friendly and helpful staff. Additionally, there is a cafe with delicious cakes.
We visited here whilst on a 4 day holiday break in Finland and found this place very well run. The local staff made us feel very welcome despite my complete ignorance of the local language. We watched a very informative video with subtitles explaining local sites and culture. The static exhibits are well laid out and are multilingual. The attached cafe is well worth a visit.

Toilets were free, water was drinkable, the style of the toilet was very classic office style toilets and customer service high quality. I hope men's toilet will be fixed soon! Definitely could do my business there again. 4/5

Pleasantly surprised by this well organized information center with a free, detailed exhibition about the Sami culture and lifestyle. Nestled in the serene landscapes of Lapland, Enontekiö Church is a stunning stone structure that captivates visitors with its unique architecture. Inaugurated in 1952, this charming church features a striking 14-meter-high mosaic fresco as its altarpiece, depicting Christ blessing the local people. The church's tall bell tower stands out against the horizon, making it an easily recognizable landmark.
This is a unique little church which was rebuilt after the last war. It has an usual but surprisingly beautiful mural on the back wall showing Jesus present on the local arctic fells with the reindeer. Well worth a quick visit for a moment of serenity if you can figure out when to pop in before church on a Sunday. Alternatively visit during 'open' church in the summer since this is one of Finland's so-called 'road' churches.

Hetta Huskies, located near the Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park in the town of Hetta, offers an unforgettable experience with their well-cared for dogs. Visitors can enjoy a thrilling husky sleigh ride through picturesque landscapes and even learn to drive their own sleds after receiving instructions. The friendly and professional team provides insight into the history of the dogs before the ride and allows ample time to interact and cuddle with the affectionate animals.
Words can't express how thrilled I was to receive this as a Christmas gift! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, clearly passionate about their dogs. And the dogs themselves? Absolutely amazing! So friendly and eager to run. The sleigh ride was pure magic - an exhilarating rush unlike anything I've ever experienced. Being pulled through the snowy landscape by these powerful, beautiful animals was truly unforgettable. The best part? Getting to cuddle and play with the dogs afterwards. This is a must-do for anyone who loves animals and craves a unique adventure. I guarantee you'll leave with a huge smile on your face!

We did the farm tour and it was lovely! Great for 5 year old boy to see and walk around. Not too long of a walk. Great for kids! The dogs are so sweet and cuddly. Would definitely come back to do other tours! Thank you!

We had a 20 km safari and we loved it. The staff is friendly and communicate well on the do’s and dont’s. Plenty of time to interact with the dogs and learn about them and the care for them. The staff will check your clothes before leaving to make sure you won’t get cold. If needed, you can rent additional warm clothing. Recommended.

We had a truly amazing experience doing the 20 km Safari. It felt too short after all the beautiful experiences and scenery we experienced. You can truly feel that the people who run the husky farm love their dogs and what they do as a living. It is also worth knowing that they take really exceptionally good care of their dogs and even the older and weaker ones get loved and are cared for.

Brilliant husky tour. The farm is very well maintained and they were able to accommodate our young (2 years old) daughter on a sled. Our tour went through some beautiful countryside and our guide, Carmen, was very friendly and informative. I would highly recommend Hetta Huskies

Amazing experience! We took the multi day tour and we enjoyed every part of it. Dogs are incredibly strong and always ready to run, but also super lovely. The guides were very friendly and well organised. I would recommend it without any doubts!
Alessia C — Google review
We visited the farm in August with our sons, aged 10 and 7 and had the best day out. We were able to have a cart ride but the best part of the day for the children was playing with the puppies. I really enjoyed the detailed tour and explanations from Tim and Anna. I much prefer going to a place like this where things are a little improvised, rather than being sterile and touristy and where you are involved in helping with getting the dogs ready etc.. In my opinion, it makes the experience much more worthwhile and stretches the fun out. I also think it was very good value for money compared to other places I found on the internet. Last but not least, the dogs are very loved and well cared for. Keep up the good work!

Elina from Adventure by Design advised us to rent perfect equipment for different areas around Kilpisjärvi. There were three of us, and we all enjoyed this trip a lot. She helped us planning the trips, gave great tips and made us curious about the summer in Kilpisjärvi, too. After spending the days around New Year's in the area, we are interested in returning on Easter Holidays or in August, September, October or so. Beautiful area with super nice people 👌🏻

In August we did the "hiking in the arctic wilderness" tour. It was a really great tour. The landscape is amazing! With Gareth as our guide we had a really good time. We learnt so much about navigation, crossing rivers etc. It was a journey which we will keep in good memory. Also Gareth's and Elina's support were great. It started from planning the tour over lost backpack at the airport to having some last relaxing days before leaving. It was a overwhelming journey. And we think it won't be the last time, we come to Kilpisjärvi.

I had an amazing experience on the three borders and northern lights snowmobile tour this week. The tour guides were professional, friendly and always made sure our safety was a priority but also had a laugh and fun time with all the group. The landscapes were breathtaking and when we stopped for a break on each tour the tour guides provided us with a hot drink and donut and knowledge of the area. I would highly recommend going on these tours with this company.

The snowmobile tour was fantastic. It was very well organized, everything went according to plan, there was more than enough time to admire the scenery and spend time at the 3 borders. The extra clothing and boots provided enough warmth to enjoy the tour. The tour guide was constantly making sure everyone was always in the group whilst out riding the snowmobile, they were patient and ensured everyone had a great time. Highly recommend this tour company.

We did four tours organised by kilpis safaris while in Finland. Three were on snowmobiles and one was a snow shoe hike. All were really well organised, fun but safe. The guides speak good English are knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended.

A nice half an hour walk up to the Gorsabrua bridge to experience the scenic landscape. Absolutely awesome experience. We visited the place outside the bungee jump hours, so there wasn't that many people around. If you're not into jumping, I recommend visiting some other day when there isn't jumpers around as you can enjoy the views from the bridge in peace. Walk to the bridge is filled with nice views and there is also a fireplace with seats in some point of the trail. Highly recommended! PS. People with fear of heights might feel some anxiety on the bridge as the canyon is really deep :)

This extraordinary experience, which is accessed after a 30-minute walk that helps us immerse ourselves in the surroundings, is highly recommended. The access road requires a more off-road vehicle; otherwise, drive very slowly. (Original) Pierwszy w życiu skok na bungee i to w jakim miejscu! Niecodzienne przeżycie, do którego prowadzi 30 minutowy spacer, pomagający nam wczuć się w klimat otoczenia, polecam wszystkim. Very nice easy hike once you arrive at the trail head. There are many warnings to pay for parking earlier because of bad cell service higher up, but we had no problem with cell service the entire hike to the waterfall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A nice view and the bridge was big and sturdy. If you don't want to hike from all the way down, there is a road that takes you almost all the way, only a small hike of 1.8 km if you drive to the end. The road is a bit steep and challenging, with sheep walking/sleeping along the way.
Emelie H — Google review
Easy walk. Good path with hardly any elevation change. I wouldn't recommend going with a stroller though because there are some rocks on the path. You can do it if your stroller has big wheels but it will be unpleasant. The parking costs about 170NOK or 15EUR per day on the Easypark app.
Antti A — Google review
Loved it! Breathtaking view. I had seen a lot of pictures before visiting, but it did not prepare me for it. It cannot be captured in an image! Short, easy hike to the bridge. Don't forget to pay for parking. The road to the last parking is rocky, drive carefully.

Beautiful place. Road is awful and bumpy but it's kinda private road so you have to understand. Watch out for lambs. No chance to get up there with camper or caravan, but there's parking spot down at valley.

Three Country Cairn

Mentioned on

Wildlife refuge
Sights & Landmarks
The Three Country Cairn, located at the meeting point of Norway, Sweden, and Finland, is a significant symbol of unity among nations. This unassuming stone monument marks the spot where you can freely walk from one country to another. The trek to reach this cairn involves a three-hour drive along the Finnish border and a 26km hike through diverse terrains, offering scenic views typical of each country. The well-marked trails make it easy to navigate through the stunning landscapes.
Breath-taking journey from Kilpisjärvi to the spot where the three northern Kingdoms unite! A definite must-see, something very special reminding us of the history and bond between our neighbouring countries ❤️
Iines P — Google review
It's been my dream to visit the cairn. This is where borders of Norway, Sweden, and Finland meet. The wonder of being in three countries at once is memorable in itself. Recommend either visiting in spring or just before onset of winter. Starting from Kilpisjärvi, Finland, the hike alone is worth it with the splendid views and scenic nature all around. I'd recommend bringing plenty of water and snacks to enjoy the nature here as one would have no idea how the hours just slipped by also do carry your first aid kit.
Vikrant C — Google review
Treriksröset, the “three-country cairn,” marks where Sweden, Norway, and Finland meet. The area is surrounded by beautiful nature, and the cairn itself sits on Lake Golddajávri, connected by a short 10-meter metal walkway. Nearby, on the Finnish side, you’ll find two huts – one of them free to stay in overnight, no booking needed. There are several hiking trails, some quite demanding. Keep in mind that camping isn’t allowed in much of the Finnish side (north-east), as it’s a nature reserve, but it seems fine on the Swedish side. And if you’re visiting in the warmer months – don’t forget mosquito repellent!
Albert K — Google review
Really nice place and views along the trail are awesome. Hike is about 12 kilometers on one way, so you should be really well prepared for this hike.
Ville A — Google review
A very nice and short hike to your place, about a 30-minute walk if you take the boat. If it has rained, boots can be good but not necessary, and mosquito repellent is recommended.
Anders N — Google review
Stunning location to visit all three counties at the same time. Norway, Sweden and Finland borders. Temperatures extremely cold on our snowmobile visit -30 🥶 We used kilpisjarvi safari and went as a group of over 20 people. Well organised trip with all your gear provided. Be sure to have hand and toe warmers. Also, thermals are a must !
Kim S — Google review
FINOSE: Finland on left foreground, Sweden on the left background and Norway the (almost) whole right part of the pic. If you are mad about countries borders and where three of them meet AND you happen to find yourself in this area: this is a very good, nice and easy one to get! The cairn is just a round block of cement yellow painted with the marks of the countries, but the area around is also a beautiful example and mix of the kind of nature this part of the world is made. TO GET THERE: I had two options. One is - I was told - 6 hours 15km almost flat but very long trail from the latest parking area on the Norway side just before the border or after it from another trail starting point. The second in the summer - that I took - getting close via a boat service from 69.047326, 20.794309 (Kilpisjärvi). With the boat ticket, the crew gives you some explanation of the area, you get a nice view from the lake and, most important, the walking part is then less than an hour, less than 4 km on a flat path anyone, even unfit like me, can make. You are given about 2 hours once the boat get to the endpoint, before it sails again back to Kilpisjärvi. In the period I visit it (June 2024) there were only two timing: at 10 and 15 (Don't forget the CEST-EEST time change if coming from Norway!). You want to show up some few minutes in advance just to get in line to board. Card payment was possible on board. The boat won't sail if there aren't at least 5 persons. It was Sunday afternoon when I got there. The receptionist of my camping told me that more or less they always run, there was never too few passengers nor a too crowded moment in that. If you want to mix the options there is also a one-way ticket. Look for Mallalaiva website "three-country-cairn". I was lucky the day was little dry, but the ground can get muddy and wet, so you'd better not to risk going there with just flip flops. Also in some period flies and mosquitos are the real problem. I was advised to buy a head-mosquito-net. Didn't need that day, but long sleeves and keeping my mouth shut helped a lot.

The ice climbing trip is just a fantastic experience and a must if you are visiting the area. I have done this previously and will be happy to do it again. A big thank you to Ulla and Mikal because you made this a very enjoyable and memorable day last Sunday. Your expertise gave me the confidence and reassurance in the climb. Also a big thank you to Jem for the tour on the snowmobile. Unfortunately the warm weather made the conditions not ideal but It was still a great day from start to finish. All of the activities that I have done have been first class but it is the people at Lyngen Adventure that make it so much more. You guys are the biz.
Mark B — Google review
We booked the ice climbing experience just after New year's and had an incredible outing. At the office in Lyngseidet we were fitted with the necessary equipment and then our group of five was driven to a trailhead where we started our access to the frozen waterfall. The two guides set up topropes (safest way of climbing, no risk of a fall) and then we took turns up the ice. We started in arctic winter dusk/dawn and climbed into the dark before we retreated into a Lavvu (traditional Sami tent) for a fire, soup and traditional local snacks on reindeer hides. The guys not only took care of our safety but gave a lot of insights into the local flora, fauna, culture and other topics of interest. All in all a wonderful trip that we can recommend to any outdoorsy traveller in the Lyngen Alps. The program offered by Lyngen Adventure far exceeded our expectations.

Best experience of our Norway visit. Would recommend this activity for all dog lovers. Very impressive to witness how Tommy interacts with the dogs and takes care of them. After the sledding we had some coffee and tea at the beach hut with a camp fire. Tommy is very knowledgeable about the area and nature, we learned a lot and enjoyed his stories
NoaSeegers — Google review
We really enjoyed the dog sledding trip. We loved the fact that we were our own small group and we could not only ride the dogs, but also harness them ourselves and pet them. It was snowing and it was just magical in the woods! Tommy told us a lot about the dogs and the living in Norway. It was a very entertaining and heartwarming evening!🐕‍🦺🥰
Evgeniia G — Google review
Incredible day out with the dogs. Tommy is a great guide who clearly loves his dogs dearly. We took a half day as it hadn't snowed, and it was the experience of a lifetime! Tommy also let us walk some dogs and took us for a sunset tea while he told us stories of dog sledding and answered all our questions. It was a highlight of our trip! Definitely worth every penny

Amazing Journey on saturday with Tommy et dogs ....So simple and warming welcome ...preparing the dog ,contact with them and Tommy is very easy to speak about all his wonderworld ...The snow was here, very early for the season and so fresh ...the dogs were happy for this first snow and us too ...all was very magical ...tanks for this enchanted parenthèses. A real passion for Tommy not a commercial business, that makes us à different experience. Thank you Tommy

This was one of the highlights of our trip, Tommy is passionate about what he does, the dogs are incredibly well taken care of, and the experience was top notch. It was very fun to learn how to mush, pet the dogs and hear Tommy’s stories.

Absolutely fantastic - couldn’t recommend this tour highly enough. We did the half day and it was SO fun. Tommy is brilliant and so knowledgeable (ask him about his dog sledding races!!). This is so special because you get to harness the dogs, learn all about the sled and drive them yourself. There’s the option to sit on Tommy’s sled for the circuits if the driving makes you nervous. The dogs are SO fun and friendly and fast!
Jessica C — Google review
Incredible experience with Tommy as the guide. The dogs are well looked after and a part of the family. The sledding was fantastic and Tommy was very informative about the sport and the way of life in Norway. I highly recommend this tour, don't go wasting your money with the larger companies and book direct with the super Team Lyngen

Just do this! We had a perfect afternoon with Tommy and the dogs. The day turned into the highlight of our trip. Tommy educated the group on care of the dogs, race culture, and ensured everyone was comfortable and had fun driving the scenic landscape. It helped that was also had a gorgeous day with fresh snowfall. We would absolutely do this again (and would love to take our teens next time). Highly recommend!

If I could give 6 stars I would! An absolutely incredible day from the pick up from town in a comfortable van by Aaron right to the end. It was a stunning hour drive to the farm and with some really quick and clear instruction by Anna we were out on the dogs in no time. After a long and beautiful run up and down hills we returned to the house for lunch and to get to know our hosts. They were kind and friendly and taught us all about the dogs and life as a musher. We loved that it was a small group of only 8 and out in the mountains meant our tour went ahead on a stunning blue sky day whilst many larger tours were cancelled. Do not hesitate to book with Northern Light Dog Adventures! Thank you Thomas, Aaron and Anna!

So many german reviews so i write one in english - not my first language so please be kind. Now the actual review: That was absolutly awesome! We pre booked another Tour from another company but it got cancelled on us last minute because of the autum rain. So we decided to book one day before having this Tour and cakled about cancelation but they were like: we don't cancel unless there is a hazard warnung. Eventhough it was raining cats and dogs it was an absolute Highlight of our Trip! They Provide you with warerproof Equipment, so don't worry about a thing. The dogs want to run and are super friendly, as well are the owners. We had such a great time and hope to return in Winter with snow :)

Completely exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our trip to Tromso! The whole service; from the explanations, conversation, extra clothing, teas and coffees after the sledding was absolutely perfect! I really enjoyed how you could ride yourself and it wasn’t just on flat ground, you were going up and down hills as well. Such an adventure, I will carry this memory with me for the rest of my life! Everyone in the family is so lovely also.
Iris D — Google review
We had such a great time on this tour. It's a small norwegean family business tucked away in the mountains. So no tourist trap. Even though it snowed a lot we could drive the sled for one hour. What an amazing feeling being out there with these lovely dogs and driving the sled by yourself. Uphill you need to help them a bit so you need to have a little bit of fitness. The mountains around, just stunning. I can recommend it to anyone!!! It's an experience you'll never forget in your life.
Jules P — Google review
Fantastic experience, authentic and beautiful location. Tomas and team keep it simple and make it memorable. The dogs are the stars of the show! Don’t forget to take a lunch and wear comfortable clothing - but good quality oversuits are provided. This is a small family business and well worth supporting - they’re the best!
Nick W — Google review
Fantastic! Exceeded all expectations. The team was great and we learned a lot about the sport. Everything was well prepared and ready to go before we arrived. They had additional clothes and provided warm drinks for after the sledding. The dogs are super friendly and well cared for. Would definitely return to do this again!
Ben G — Google review
Northern Light Dog Adventure does an exceptionally well dogsledding experience. These guys take pride in providing a small group experience and when we went it was just my wife and I which was great because they were able to personalize the experience to suite us. We took the sleds through all types of different, beautiful and challenging terrain and even took us to create new trails! The dogs seem very well taken care of too. If you enjoy the "real" experience, small groups and don't enjoy the large tourist traps this is the place for you.
James D — Google review
This is a must visit place if you in the area. Thomas and his furry children made the ride smooth and worry free. Amazing views. Everything is well organized, instructions given were clear. Just use common sense, natural balance, control the speed and enjoy the ride.

Arctic Cathedral

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
The Arctic Cathedral, a striking church in Tromso, Norway, is an architectural marvel with its pyramid shape and glass facade. Designed by Jan Inge Hovigand and inspired by the region's fiskeheller and lavvu, it stands out as a landmark. The spiral shape of the cathedral reflects the aurora borealis, while its titanium exterior mirrors the dancing lights in the sky.
The Arctic Cathedral is one of Tromsø's most iconic landmarks. It's located on the eastern side of the city, just across the Tromsøbrua Bridge in the Tromsdalen district. The cathedral resembles an iceberg or a Sami (Arctic indigenous) tent. The structure, made of white concrete and glass, contrasts with the sky and snow-capped mountains, symbolizing the beauty of the Arctic. Situated on a hillside with no tall buildings blocking the view, the Arctic Cathedral is a popular spot for viewing the Northern Lights during winter. The views are stunning, offering panoramic views of the city.
Pisit P — Google review
Beautiful place! If you opt for piblic transport you can direct get down at the nearest bus-stop, Very accessible place. And if you really want to visit by walking, I would suggest, stay there till the sunset, enjoy beautiful colors and head back. Its just 2-2.5 kms from harbor area.
Srilekha R — Google review
An inspiring piece of Nordic architecture with a relatively easy walk over the road bridge from the main part of Tromsø. The cathedral is slightly expensive for admission, and as we went a bit later in the day to see the stained glass lit up we didn't feel we would have had enough time inside for the cost. Other than that, it's a highly recommended place to visit if you are interested in Scandinavian design.
Caleb W — Google review
A modern structure sitting atop a hill, walkable from downtown area of Tromso. It is across the main bridge, about half an hour on foot or, by local bus. Since I'm not familiar with the bus route and I love walking, it suits me fine to cross the bridge. Make sure you walk on the path for pedestrians, not one for bicyclists. The wind is stronger across the bridge so bundle up. The cathedral was closed on the day I was in town, but it's nice to see the outside. A tall, erect structure in a giant triangle. There is not much outside to see, no garden, park or anything interesting so I didn't stay around long. Behind it is the route to the cable cars, interesting to take. $60 usd for the ticket if you like an aerial view of the town. The church itself is worth a walk to but unless it is open, visit nearby attractions such as the cable cars.
G D — Google review
I visited the Arctic Cathedral on a sunny day, and it was absolutely beautiful. The architecture is so unique, and the light made it shine even more against the mountains and water. The view from there was stunning, definitely one of my favorite spots in Tromsø.
Atria O — Google review
Beautiful piece of architecture! The lights come on at night and it looks even more spectacular. There is a fee to visit it inside. Side walks can be quite slippery so do have proper walking gear or even shoe spikes.
Tavi T — Google review
The Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø is truly beautiful. The unique architecture stands out against the surrounding landscape, and the big glass windows make it feel calm. Even just standing outside and looking at it is worth the visit.
Beulah G — Google review
A beautiful church, especially in the night. We twice took advantage of the thirty-minute organ concerts which are included within the 80 kroner entrance fee, one a mixed programme, the other Bach. The music was splendid, and the atmosphere so homely and warm.

Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Tromso, Norway, the Arctic–Alpine Botanic Garden stands as a testament to nature's resilience and beauty. As the world's northernmost botanic garden, it features an impressive collection of over 1,200 plant species from polar and alpine regions across the globe. Visitors can wander through themed sections that highlight diverse geographical areas, immersing themselves in vibrant blooms like Arctic poppies and gentians during spring and summer.
It is one of the most diverse and bountiful botanical gardens I have been to! Excellent array of flowers and plants, and all laid out in a really engaging pathway; there's not just one oath. You can weave through and over different regions of plants and find unique displays, water features, and information boards. It's totally worth the visit!

We visited the garden a couple weeks ago (mid-September) and absolutely loved it! It was a great place to walk around and see so many different plants. The use of rocks for the paths and display was also very creative. This is a great place to visit when it’s not covered in snow!
Rose K — Google review
Stunning views, very walkable hillslopes even for partly disabled, amazing huge international plant collection, and the best landscape architecture outside of Japan! Why? Painstaking selection & placement of every single stone, post, piece of gravel, plant, water features -- far beyond most of the planet's public gardens. No admission fee, no gates, no wait. Just amazing beauty.

A beautiful botanic garden, with many different plants and flowers. Very colourful, beautifully designed and maintained. Free entrance to the gardens. We loved visiting the gardens and enjoyed our time there.

A great little garden in Tromso! We visited in summer when the flowers were blooming. Best thing is, it was free to enter! It is well maintained and easy to get to, with plenty of parking spots to offer and a nice trail if you are walking or riding your bike. Plenty of flora to see with nice little signs and information. Great little cafe on site, with a self served option. We got the waffles and surprisingly it was really nice! We were lucky to get a fresh batch and we got to top it ourselves. The garden also offers a path to walk to the university and the science centre just next/behind the garden if you wanted to explore more, but it's a great spot to visit if you're looking for a free activity in Tromso.
