Amazing experience meeting the meerkats. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time with the meerkats, we also got to see all the reptiles and choose one to hold! Plus stroke a chinchilla and see the sugar gliders. Couldn't have asked for a better day! Thank you!
Haydn P — Google review
What an amazing experience! The staff are very knowledgeable and the meerkats are well looked after, super cute and friendly. I just wish we could spend a whole afternoon with them, time flies when you're having fun!
Stella I — Google review
This is a real hidden gem of a place! We were gifted a sugar glider experience and weren't sure what to expect. We needn't have worried! Despite arriving in what looks like a disused garage, we found a little place where the various animals are really well cared for by friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We would definitely visit again, and we would wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful place!
Mike S — Google review
We had a wonderful meerkat experience here today. It is amazing to have these lovely animals climb all over you, feed from your hand and relax whilst you stroke and cuddle them. The owners are informative and caring in. Really recommend this little place.
David D — Google review
Booked to meet the Meerkats here with a voucher I had and was really happy with the experience I received. The outside was a bit misleading, but once inside you get a top tier 5-star experience. The whole meet was fully 1 to 1 and we were allowed plenty of time with the Meerkats to take pictures and play with them. And all of the Meerkats we met were very friendly and and playful. After the meet we were taken for a tour of the enclosures and allowed to meet all the wonderful creatures they homed there. 10/10 would highly recommend.
Gavin S — Google review
We have visited before and knew we’d come back! This time we did the sugar gliders experience and it was absolutely brilliant! We had dressed knowing we were going to get dirty but they did offer us coats to put over if we wanted. I will say sugar gliders are incredibly messy so you have been warned lol Kayleigh our guide was really knowledgeable and really friendly. We even got to see the baby barn owls! Super cute! This is such a lovely place ran by amazing people. What they do is incredible! We will be back again no doubt. Thanks again!
Ceri T — Google review
We went yesterday as had booked the girls a meerkat experience, we traveled an hour to get there. We turned up thinking is this it, as it’s looked like a shed, but once inside, the girls got a 1-2-1 experience and time with Charlie and the meerkats the experience was not shared with lots of people, they came out buzzing, then we was introduced to the reptiles, rescued owls and birds of prey, and sugar gliders. We got a lot more out of this than expected and very informative and time taken, never felt rushed. They host show and tails for schools, these animals are a mixture of interest. But well cared for! We are looking at returning for the sugar gliders experience.
Jan P — Google review
Went for a Meerkat experience and absolutely loved it. Spent about half hour in the pen with the little group and a very knowledgeable member of staff who introduced us to each meerkat then while we fed and petted them have us lots of info about them. Ended too soon but then had the chance to meet and hold a lizard and a snake before being shown around the rest of the experience, meeting more of the animals. Would highly recommended a visit here, wish we could have stayed longer.

Splash Zone

Mentioned on

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Splash Zone is a popular water park with various pools and attractions suitable for all ages. It features warm pools, four big slides, a lazy river, wave pool, and areas for little ones to enjoy. Visitors can expect long queues for the flumes during busy times but can also take advantage of pool parties on select nights. The changing rooms are spacious and lockers are available for use. While the indoor jacuzzi may be closed at times, there are outdoor options available from March onwards.
3 x 3 screenshots from the Butlins tourism videos, comparable to Butlins Minehead and Butlins Bognor Regis, in my opinion, this is the best if you are a middle aged person or simply prefer deep water. You can see the waterpark map on the Butlins website or Google Images.
Star C — Google review
This place has a decent size pool which is warm, four big slides, a lazy river, wave pool, two areas for the little ones, there is a decent size changing room, lockers are £1 to use and refunded when you are finished. Expect a massive queue if you leave it too late when it opens in the morning, they do put on pool parties on a couple of nights in the week as well.
Brian R — Google review
Plenty of pools of different sizes, changing room area not too bad. Expect queuing between 10am and 12pm but soon moved quickly. The wave machine pool was good although be warned the flooring is made of some type of abrasive material at the entrance to it and can easily scratch your skin on it 🙈. Overall would recommend coming here for a couple of hours to tire the kids out! 😊
Martin C — Google review
Really disappointed and disgusted with how filthy the changing area was. It smelt like urine, the floors were dirty and hadn't been cleaned in hours, and there was a dirty nappy left the in the family changing room. The smell of chlorine in the pool was very strong too. Had the kids not been so excited to go swimming, I would have walked out. The pool itself was very busy (to be expected in summer season) so was a free for all to find a locker, and long queues to get a changing room after swimming. I now understand why so many people who were staying at the resort were walking back to their accommodation in their towels. It was a really stressful experience.
Karina G — Google review
it was really good apart from the fact that the toilets were disgusting i dont know if it was the same in the mens toilets but in the women toilets it smelled like urine and the smell was very strong and the floor was wet obviously so i didnt know if i was stepping in urine or pool water,i only visited for the day but by the end of it i was tired out which is good because if you came for the day with your children it will certainly tire them out. to bring some positivity into this review i would also like to add that overall it was amazing and the river rapids were my absolute favourite and there was many things to do.
Mia O — Google review
Nice place for fun but unfortunately so dirty, place like this should be perfectly clean I will never back again

Wicken Fen Nature Reserve, managed by the National Trust, is a captivating destination for nature enthusiasts and families alike. As the oldest nature reserve of the National Trust, it boasts an impressive array of over 9,000 recorded species including rare butterflies, dragonflies, birds, and plants. The raised boardwalks offer a unique vantage point to observe the marshlands and its diverse wildlife.
Excellent site, with good cafe and well signposted walks. Boat trip was fun and quite educational. Disabled access is limited unless you have a good powered wheelchair. Care required during hot weather as cover can be a bit lacking!
Chris P — Google review
We had heard about this nature reserve a number of years ago. It was well worth the visit, not many birds about as we visited on a particularly hot day (34°), but a number of dragonflies and a handful of butterflies in the wildflowers. Well worth a visit and plan to revisit on a cooler day.
S S — Google review
Beautiful place to visit and relax. An oasis of calm. Wicken Fen is a unique landscape of wetlands, reed beds and wildlife. On a good day you can spot a marsh harrier and dozens of other unusual birds. Parking is plentiful and it’s a dog friendly area but you must keep them on a lead at all times. The wildlife needs to be undisturbed.
Bill W — Google review
Beautiful place, lovely reasonably priced cafe with delicious food and drinks. Gorgeous walks in a calm environment. Make sure to pop into the Feb house to give a real taste of old fen life
Joanne I — Google review
I wasn't too sure what to expect at Wicken Fen, but it turned out to be a great day out. The whole place is a unique environment teeming with life. Dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and more. If you're into photography, be sure to bring a macro or telephoto lens. The cafe is nice, the shop us surprisingly large and well-stocked and the boat trips on Mayfly are recommended!

We done the bicycle route one day and the windmill/walk the next. The bike route was really fun and pretty easy to do, think we done 9 miles. The walk was about 3 miles.

A welcoming visitor centre. Great boardwalk across the green. Hides to observe the birds. Having gone in spring it was lovely to see the plants coming to life after winter. There is a nice cafe too. Great children's activity for Easter.

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
St Edmundsbury Cathedral is a 16th-century Anglican church located on a medieval site. It features notable stained glass, a crypt, and font. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful tour of the cathedral and its 160ft tower with views over the town. The cathedral also houses the final resting place of French Queen Mary Tudor, sister of Henry VIII, at St Mary's Church.
If you are into churches, this is a must. The church itself is a very well maintained, and free to tour. But the grounds and the old ruins are what is very interesting about this church. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. I'm sure on the summer they are amazing. The town was very nice, lots of stores to visit.
William K — Google review
An overnight stay in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk for a concert. The next morning we did some sightseeing including the cathedral. Must say I was impressed, by the staff as much as the building itself, they really were welcoming. No charge to go in but they do strongly suggest a donation. (we paid it by card, with gift aid, modern world). It's a church, so it won't be for everyone but I just found it attractive, and clearly used for community events, not just for worship. There is a Lego model of the cathedral, which is impressive for Lego lovers. In summary if you like places of worship, you'll love it.
David T — Google review
A beautiful cathedral inside and out, and with a rich history! Stunning views of the cathedral from the Abbey Gardens. Fascinating to think that today's cathedral once formed part of the Abbey, which now largely lies in ruins, but which was absolutely massive in scale. A must-see for history fanatics (and everyone else!).
Rolf W — Google review
This time the weather failed to show its English character - cold, rain and wind. 🤣 But, as they say - wet, rain is not afraid. 🤭You can see from the photos the gardens and ruins of the Benedictine monastery. ⛪ It was one of the largest and richest for its time in England. 😮 It stood here from its creation in 1020 until its collapse in 1539. I was very impressed by how the Main Norman Tower from the 14th century has been almost completely preserved. 😯 And from the gardens you can see the beautiful new cathedral. ⛪ Exceptional wood carving on the chairs and the organ. 👌 This town is the perfect place to escape with your family and friends and enjoy a pleasant walk... 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

The cathedral and surrounding abbey ruins and parkland are glorious add to this the medieval town, market and modern shopping centre there is something for everyone. I recommend booking the additional tower tour which includes fantastic views to all sides of the town from the top. Reasonably priced parking nearby.

Very interesting to have a look inside this cathedral. Free to go in and take as much time as you need. Donation is much appreciated. A cafe is also situated within the buildings. Well worth a look ,👍

Stunning and well cared for gardens. Loved the accuracy of the gardening to keep things symmetrical. Borders were full and thriving. The historic ruins were fascinating. Perfect place for a walk, picnic, family afternoon.

A great place to stop for a picnic 🥪 . Some lovely ruins to explore and a beautiful flowers 💐. Be careful not to get hit by the water sprinkler. There are lots of benches all around the edges and a few tables near the gate. I loved looking at the birds. 🦜🐦🦜

Greene King Brewery

Mentioned on

Brewery
Food & Drink
Located in Bury St Edmunds, Greene King Brewery has a rich history dating back to 1799 when it was founded by Benjamin Greene. The brewery's roots trace back even further to 1086 when monks brewed ale on the site of the Great Abbey. Today, visitors can explore the free museum housed in a 1930s landmark building and book tours that include beer tastings.
At £20, I thought the price was somewhat steep but actually, lasting two hours, it was an extremely enjoyable experience. Paul, our guide, showed us not only the brewing process, but explained in some detail, the background to the company and how it has developed over the years. Aged 71, I was anxious about the clamber up to the roof but it was absolutely worth it, with spectacular views for miles around. We even met one of the brewers, who was about to knock up an enormous batch of 'Old Speckled Hen'. I have been on many brewery tours over the years and while it's not a patch on the way Heineken do it in Amsterdam, when they move their operations to the outskirts of Bury St. Edmunds, maybe there is an opportunity to really develop their tour programme.
Michael S — Google review
The brewery tour was amazing and very good value for money. Both of us enjoyed it, even though one of us loves beer and the other isn't too keen. It was so interesting to hear about this old business and the history of making beer. There is also a wonderful view of Bury at the top! Our guide John was very knowledgeable and a good story teller. The tasting afterwards was really in depth and we tried so many more beers than expected, so there was something for everyone! And then to walk away with a complimentary bottle and a discount on the shop... a really great experience.
Samantha H — Google review
Brewery tour is well worth doing, the view at the top looking out over Bury is worth the money. As working brewery it can be really hot inside and there are some steep steps to climb.
James 4 — Google review
Best brewery tour in the world. Entertaining and full history and culture Chris did an amazing job.
Luke M — Google review
Best brews in England, the tour was lovely as was our guide, John. £20pp is a bit steep for either the walk tour or the brewery tour. But, there are plenty of beer tasters to include discounts in the cafe. Also, there is a spectacular view of Bury from the rooftop. If you go on Sunday, bring cash as the till is closed. Go to Dog & Partridge (located directly across from cafe) afterward for another pint or 4.
Famousaj1 — Google review
Tour was well worth doing. The reception staff were very friendly. The guide (Steve) was well versed with the history of the brewery and a keen beer drinker. The tour duration is about 1 hour and a half and ends with a beer tasting session of around 20 minutes. There are 114 steps from the road outside to the roof so be prepared. The view of Bury Saint Edmund from the roof top is great. There is a small shop on site where Greeneking beers can be purchased. There is also a small coffee shop on site called Beer Cafe. If this is review is helpful please press like.

John was great tour guide. Price is fair as it really includes 3 pints for price of admission. Best brewery tour I have gone on

We had a great tour around which was about 1.5 hrs. Toilets in the main shop area so make sure you go before the tour starts. Was great testing all the ales upstairs in a private bar after the tour. Well worth the money and very interesting.

Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm is a charming livestock farm located in Suffolk, Eastern England. The family-run farm focuses on breeding rare farm animals, offering an enjoyable day out for visitors of all ages. Guests can interact with the animals, take leisurely walks along the riverbank and by the lake, and let children play in the designated area. The farm provides a serene escape from urban life and offers homemade treats like cake and cream tea for a delightful experience.
Had a brilliant time, the staff were incredibly friendly and very clear about safety procedures and how to interact with the animals safely. The animals were clearly very happy and so very friendly. We didn't do the highland cow experience, but still got to meet some of them and feed them, and they were all super friendly. I'd definitely recommend visiting.

We visited this farm in the Easter holidays with our friend and our collective 5 children! It’s a lovely working farm with lots of lovely animals to feed, stroke and cuddle! It was a beautiful day so a great place to spend your day outside, the kids had a blast! Our picturesque day took a slightly chaotic turn when our pram (without the baby in I must add) ended up in the river…… after attempting to retrieve it ourselves we knew we had to go and ask for some help. I approached a lovely lady in the shop who couldn’t have reacted quicker, she was straight on the phone to her colleagues seeing who could come and help. That’s when Frank came along to assess the situation and realised we needed someone to get in the river and fish it out. Along comes Amber (I believe) who without hesitation whacked on her waders and jumped straight in. We cannot thank the team enough for all the help they gave us and for retrieving our daughter’s pushchair! Their help meant we could carry on our day out albeit slightly soggier but nonetheless we spent the rest of the day enjoying the amazing food they had to offer and seeing even more animals! Thank you again to all that helped us, I cannot recommend this place enough not just because it’s a GREAT day out but because when in a slight crisis they didn’t hesitate to help a mum in need! We will definitely be back soon just this time I’ll be pushing the pram not dad haha 😂

We had a lovely time. Please note, it's not a large farm. There is one play area, sufficient number of picnic tables. You can buy hot drinks, ice cream etc. We did pony grooming, played with baby goats and fed animals. Staff were lovely.

Another fantastic time at Baylham as a family, well worth it for the money ,great for the little ones to feed and interact with the animals. There staff on hand to answer any questions, nice little walk around there land aswell, very nice 🍕 made on site and cafe inside at good reasonable price for you with a family is always good/shop inside aswell.Always do a great job with the school holidays themes 🐰🐣🧙🧛🌲🫎.

A beautiful piece of land which well accommodates its residents! It is evident that the animals welfare is the top priority of this farm and you can clearly see how well looked after they all are. The animals look genuinely happy and relaxed and will approach you because they want to (especially if you have snacks (animals feed)). Great day out!

We came here on the 15th of August 2025. We had a lovely time at the farm feeding the baby goats and smoothing the lovely cows. We also took part in the Highland Cow experience which we thoroughly recommend. Massive shoutout to Bethany who walked us through the experience but also chatted to us throughout the day, giving us all kinds of interesting facts about the animals. Recommend to anyone but especially those with young children who want a hands on experience with animals.

Really friendly staff. And the bacon bap I had was lovely. Visited as the coach driver for a primary school trip. I'd recommend again for other primary schools to visit. And yes I did go see the animals and yes I wanted to bring home the miniature pigs , description on the boards said they were friendly pigs and they were right. Information boards posted around for children to learn about the animals.

Suffolk Owl Sanctuary

Nature & Parks
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary is located in the rural and undeveloped county of Suffolk, England. The sanctuary offers a range of bird species and other animals, including entertaining meerkats and beautiful birds showcased in flying displays. Visitors can enjoy guided tours around the meerkat enclosure and witness the animals eating and playing. Additionally, there are facilities for birthday parties with nicely decorated rooms and engaging activities for children.
What an absolutely beautiful sanctuary! Loads of different species of Owls and Birds of Prey with some land mammals mixed in to! Took us a good 2-3 hours to walk around with the 12pm flying display. Highly highly recommend sitting down for this, the staff are highly trained and entertaining and the birds are very well trained. Lovely clean and big enclosures, you can tell each and every animal here is well loved and looked after. Hannah was a superstar to speak with after the show, full of knowledge! Will be coming back often! Extremely well priced, would definitely suggest doing a donation on top if you can afford it.

This was the unexpected highlight of our visit to Suffolk. The park is neat as a pin, the birds are all clearly kept well with top notch animal husbandry, and the flying bird displays are excellent. We saw both displays and found the young women presenting to be excellent, really knowledgeable, genuinely attached to the birds, with great presentation style - entertaining and informative. We saw a range of birds flown including falcons, owls, a kookaburra and a boobook. We’re from Australia but even so we enjoyed the Aussie birds too! We didn’t get the chance to tell the presenter about the kookaburra that broke one of our windows with its beak back home. There are meerkats and porcupines and armadillos as well, and the porcupine talk is recommended. It’s quite something to see them fluffing up their spines in excitement when food is offered by the keeper. There’s a shop at reception with some nice merchandise including books about birds and cards and other gifts. There’s a chance to top up your admission fee with a donation and the sanctuary seems to do rescue work so it’s worthwhile contributing. For lunch we went out of the sanctuary to the cafe nearby - there’s a kind of village affair with shops. We were lucky enough to get a sunny summer’s day but this would be worth the visit at any time of year - clean as a whistle and fascinating.

Visited today and was very impressed with the sanctuary. The birds and other animals have plenty of space and large enclosures, which are well maintained. The flying displays were absolutely brilliant, (not to be missed). The birds get up close and personal. The staff are very informative and happy to chat. Lots of information dotted about and great write ups on all the birds and animals. The little gift shop is full of fantastic things and great gift ideas. The money spent on tickets and gifts all goes back into the sanctuary to help with the upkeep. All on all a fantastic day had by the whole family
Vincent C — Google review
A great little afternoon out. If you go to their flying show, and a few of their talks it's probably about 3 hours worth of activities. The birds are very well looked after and look happy in their averies. Some truly magnificent birds here.
Jesse B — Google review
This is a lovely place to visit with children of all ages! My husband borrowed a wheelchair which was good on most of the terrain. The owls are gorgeous - but my favourite exhibit are the red squirrels. Be surprised to see hairy armadillos and meercats! A strange mix but it seems to work. Were disappointed to miss the weasel enclosure… apparently they were sleepy! The entrance fee is fair and you can get family tickets and also annual membership. It is the sort of place you would visit more than once for sure. They fly birds in a special arena - so look out for the times for various talks when you go in. There is a nice gift shop and the staff were all really friendly. We were there when the infamous Frankie flew off during a show! He did come back within a couple of days. There are plenty of places to eat a picnic, lots of benches and tables. One good thing is that you can come and go in the sanctuary as you please - you just have to keep your entrance bracelet to regain entrance again. The loos are outside the complex. Easy to park. When you go to the owlSanctuary there is a touristy village to visit but I wouldn’t waste my time there tbh.
K. W — Google review
We had an excellent afternoon out at the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary! We paid for an experience so met Auckland the owl, and the keepers were great, very knowledgeable about her breed. We watched a flight show too, and saw two other owls flying, and a pair of vultures. That was really interesting to listen to. The enclosures were well-maintained, and several were in the process of having makeovers. We saw lots of other birds, meerkat, red squirrels, and the back end of a porcupine. We didn't visit the play area, but that also looked very cool, and the gift shop was great, nice and relevant items for sale. Overall a fab afternoon!
Zoe H — Google review
Super fun experience for adults and kids! The flying show was fun and all of the different types of birds. The feeding and flying shows were free to attend with the purchase of the ticket and it made for a fun day out!

Norwich Theatre Royal, an elegant art deco venue, offers a diverse lineup of performances including drama, musicals, dance, and live music. The theater's rich history dates back to 1758 and has undergone several renovations over the years. In addition to its own offerings, Norwich is home to several other notable theaters such as Norwich Puppet Theatre and The Playhouse.
Front circle row D seat 💺 29. The peaky blinders show was good. And the view great. The seats have a nice amount of leg room for a theatre 🎭 and it was not too hot 🔥 inside when the show was almost sold out and the tempreture🌡was 30°c + outside. The rows seem well staggered so I think you would have a good view from most seats.

Nice and clean. Without half an hour waiting near ladies room. Drinks served quickly and a little fresh air you can get on a balcony over break time too.

Excellent performance of Hamilton this evening. Acting, staging, choreography, and vocal performances were very impressive. If you haven't seen this - try to book but be quick...there cannot be many tickets left 🎶

Wow, what can I say. I have been to many many stages shows, but this was one of the best productions I have ever seen. Chicago is incredible, amazing, and just awesome. Jeanette Manrara and Djalenga Scott were super stars, fantastic. Sinitta, beautiful, perfect. Darren Day unforgettable. The dancers were just incredibly. As for the band / orchestra, I could listen to them every single night, they were also incredibly. The whole production was just the best. Thank you to Norwich for such a marvellous show. Who needs to go to London!!!

I'm 6'3 but was able to sit comfortably with plenty of legroom in the seat. The show we attended was fantastic with plenty of real rain as one of the special effects! Update. Just seen Les Mis. Wow!

Always have an amazing experience here. Have seen many shows and have more booked. Easy to park and easy access
Sara S — Google review
Packed in like sardines no legroom , unable to see key part of stage despite this being an unrestricted seat. Best to go to the ladies towards the end of the interval as queues at every one at beginning. To be honest they have removed vital aisles and restricted escapeways and every inch of space is crowded with a full theatre. Norwich has outgrown this theatre asa primary venue. Some shows are designed for larger london stages and dont always translate well to a smaller stage.
Fairview — Google review
The staff at the Theatre were so kind and sympathetic. I explained that my wife recently had an operation which meant she may require to access the 'facilities' more often. Despite the show being sold out they managed to shift our seats. They could not have been more helpful. The seating was comfortable with plenty of legroom. The performance of Hamilton was sensational!! All in all a great night out was had by all🤩

Norwich Castle, located in Norfolk, England, is a historic Norman site that was built in 1067 at the request of William the Conqueror. The castle has a distinctive cube-shaped keep and has served various purposes over the centuries. It was converted into a museum in 1895 and now houses collections of archaeology, fine art, natural history, and teapots.
To anyone planning a visit, I would strongly advise booking your ticket for the newly refurbished Norwich Castle in advance. This helps you skip the main queue, though you should be prepared for a short wait even with an online ticket. It's well worth it! The newly refurbished Norwich Castle is an incredible place to visit. I was impressed by the exhibits, especially the art from the Second World War, and the beautiful views from the top of the building was beautiful and blown mind. My only concern was with the long queue. I have a card that indicates I have a disability and can't stand for long periods. When I explained this, the first person I asked said they couldn't help. Thankfully, a second person saw my distress and was kind enough to provide a seat for me while I waited. This made a huge difference. Thank you to that helpful staff member. I hope the castle considers better ways to assist people with disabilities in the future.

Newly reopened Norwich castle 2025. Well worth the visit, it's a combination of walking around a historical castle, museum exhibits and artefacts, fine art, natural history and a WW2 exhibit. There are screenplays/shows in the great hall which briefly go over the history of the castle, and there are good views out the windows and across the battlements. All items in exhibits are labelled and described, and there are display boards around the actual castle interior explaining parts of daily medieval life or the significance of certain design/areas of the castle. There are historical arms and armour on display if after pieces for artistic reference. The well is very very deep.
Andrew B — Google review
It was great to see the castle after the recent renovations. It's a fine building with some great exhibits and interactive elements for children. The views from the battlements are great, especially on a clear day. It's a bit pricey and there's no senior citizen discounts, otherwise it would be five stars
Richard M — Google review
What an amazing place right on our doorstep. I've lived in Norwich 10 years and never been to the castle and what a gem of a place this is. I can't say how much it's improved since it's renovation, but wow there's so much to see! From the basement to the battlement they have honestly outdone themselves. We didn't get a chance to see it all sadly as we had two toddlers, but what we did see was amazing and definitely worth the price of admission.

I brought my 1 year old daughter here today. We had a lovely couple of hours exploring and taking some lovely photos. My only criticism is that we couldn't get around the whole castle as the lifts were out of order. My daughter was on her trike, and I wasn't prepared to carry her up and down stairs. We explored the museum and what we could of the castle. Plenty of activities for children. Very friendly and informative staff :)

A very popular venue for a wedding ceremony and it's easy to see why! Norwich Castle, recently referbished is a gorgeous wedding ceremony venue. Slap bang in the centre of the city, it gives stunning views of the city, and the room is beatiful. Have a peek at the images to see what your wedding ceremony could look like!

Renovation work was excellent. Museum very good- certainly the Norfolk regiment one. Not into art or taxidermy but if you are there is a lot to see. Videos in the great room are informative. A little disappointed that there are no images of before restoration and the after work- would have been great to know the transformation if never visited prior imo. Well worth a visit.

Elm Hill is a historic cobblestone lane in Norwich, known for its quaint coffee, tea, and book shops housed in Tudor period buildings. The street dates back to the Tudor era and many of its buildings were reconstructed after a fire in 1507. Elm Hill is a major landmark with various shops, galleries, tea houses, and The Britons Arms restaurant.
Beautiful historic street lined on both sides with half timbered Tudor buildings. The charming architecture, cheerful colours and selection of independent shops, galleries and restaurants make this a delightful place to walk through. A historic gem of Norwich, and pleasantly quiet on the February morning I visited.

Pleasant well preserved old road in Norwich situated near the river and the Cathedral. Film crews often use this for historical programs. Worth a visit.

Such a charming and magical street! ✨ Elm Hill feels like stepping back in time — the cobbled street, the old houses with their crooked roofs, and the little independent shops create a truly fairy-tale atmosphere. It’s one of the most picturesque places in Norwich — perfect for a peaceful walk, photography, or just enjoying the beauty of this historic corner of the city. Every detail here feels special, from the ivy-covered walls to the lovely vintage shop windows. If you visit Norwich, don’t miss Elm Hill. It’s beautiful in any season, but especially magical in the early morning or at sunset, when the light makes it look like a scene from an old movie. 🌿💫

Norwich Cathedral

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Norwich Cathedral, a Romanesque church dating back to 1096, is a historic landmark dominating the skyline of Norwich. The cathedral boasts stunning stained glass windows and impressive double-height cloisters reminiscent of Hogwarts. Visitors can admire over 1,000 painted wood carvings on the ceilings and watch peregrine falcons nesting in the spire during summer. The cathedral close surrounding it creates a picturesque village-like atmosphere with cobbled lanes and beautiful gardens.
We visited late on a Tuesday afternoon and found the cathedral quiet and almost empty. Most visitors had departed, but the clergy and some laypersons were busying themselves to welcome parishioners for the 5:30 p.m. Evensong. By arriving late we missed the Cathedral’s free tours (the website shows the last one begins at 3:00 p.m.), so we picked up a welcome booklet instead and did our best to follow the suggested visit order. The nave is magnificent, and we marvelled at how well its strong Norman design had been integrated into the lovely fan vaulted ceiling. Two massive spiral-ribbed columns stand out. Because of the service preparations we were only able to peer into the lovely wooden choir, but we found our exploration of the impressive Presbytery and its four adjacent chapels to be fascinating. Given the time we could only do a cursory exploration of the ceiling’s treasure trove of carved medieval ceiling bosses, but we certainly plan to return to explore them more fully. Practical info: Norwich Cathedral has no entry fee, but a donation is much appreciated. An excellent list of tours, events, dates, and timings is available on the Cathedral’s website. Should one be visiting by car, note there is no parking in the Cathedral Close, but the website provides a recommendation of nearby pay parking options.
David R — Google review
This cathedral deservedly made Norwich a proper Christian city when Normans began construction in 1096. It boasts the 2nd largest extant spire of a British cathedral (this iteration standing since 1485). The cathedral doesn’t have a peal (unlike the storied nearby St Peter of Mancroft) for which only 4 stars are given. The church has received a modern hostry and refectory in the 2000s, where modern toilets can be found as well as a three-quarters decent contracted vendor for the café, the Bread Source. The wood and glass structure makes for a pleasant space and a good entrance, where entry is subject to a voluntary donation. The close is also lovely and home to several businesses, a college, and private residences.

Beautiful place and really helpful staff! Staff arent pushy for donations which is great as many places are pushy. Free tours makes visiting very affordable. Would definitely reccommend for half a day/a full day out. We went at 11am on a Wednesday during the October half term and it wasn't busy at all. They had activities like colouring avaliable for children.

Absolutely stunning place! 🌿 Norwich Cathedral is one of those spots where time seems to slow down. The moment you walk through the gates, you feel peace and history all around. The building itself is breathtaking — the architecture, the soaring arches, and the beautiful cloisters are simply magnificent. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Even if you’re not religious, it’s a wonderful place to reflect, sit quietly, or just admire the craftsmanship and beauty of centuries past. The volunteers and staff are very friendly and happy to answer questions. Don’t miss walking around the peaceful garden and the lovely café nearby — perfect for a quiet cup of coffee after your visit. It’s definitely one of the highlights of Norwich. Highly recommend to everyone visiting the city — a truly magical and inspiring place ✨

Unfortunately couldn't spend as long here as would have liked. Understandably but without forethought closed part of this morning for remembrance day. Managed to wonder round inside afterwards and was guided expertly by 1 of the tour guides to the locations of the 2 people's graves/tombs/plots we we're looking for. Glad we went back after remembrance and most definitely worth the £5 each charity donation. The building itself is in excellent condition considering its 900 years of existence.

Framlingham Castle, a 12th-century moated fortress in East Anglia, was once the refuge of Mary Tudor before her coronation. This imposing stronghold, built by Roger Bigod after the Norman conquest, has been at the center of significant historical events. Visitors can explore its medieval battlements and enjoy breathtaking views of the Suffolk countryside from the 10-meter-high wall walk.
Imposing castle in a beautiful setting. The wall walk gives spectacular views although it was a little scary in the strong winds when we visited..... There is a very good exhibition of the history of the castle and a lovely cafe too

A lovely castle to walk around the high wall. Also a little wander around the perimeter was nice to see it from a different angle. The cafe and museum were both good as well. Not much going on with the inside space of green grass. Also they had repair works in place which prevented us going the whole way round. Its also 100% dog friendly which was great! Even up on the wall.

This is a well maintained castle that you can walk around at your leisure, it is pretty much an access all areas place where you an walk around the walls and the various buildings within that contain static exhibits regarding the history of the castle and the area. The staff as expected are excellent. The cafe is excellent with a good selection of food and drinks, toilets are fresh and clean and there's plenty of parking.

Really enjoyed our visit to Framlingham Castle today. Was great to walk the walls, read the history of the castle, walking through the local history museum, have a drink at the cafe and enjoy browsing the gift shop. Loved that there is a currently a Task Master challenge and activities going on. So from the castle walls we could hear hysterical giggles and people competed against their team mates to win the taskmaster trophy and have their photograph taken in the winners photo frame. Well worth a visit. Even better if you are already an English Heritage partron -free entry and discount in the shops.

Lovely place to visit and obviously this is the castle that Ed Sheeran has sung about "The Castle On The Hill". We didn't go into the castle, but did walk around and take some lovely pictures and then visit the Two Magpies Bakery which was really good. We had a nice couple of hours out so if you have a bit of free time, it's worth a visit for a leisurely walk and a spot of lunch.

Due to the high wind, we couldn't do the battlements walk whilst listening to the commentary so the rating is lower than it would have been. Small discount on entry fee as a result but it wasn't as good an experience without being high up. The museum inside has some interesting stuff though. Staff were very friendly & helpful.

Located on the outskirts of Woodbridge in Suffolk, National Trust - Sutton Hoo is a significant historical site that offers a glimpse into Anglo-Saxon history. The estate features an Edwardian house and exhibitions showcasing the excavated Anglo-Saxon burial site, including a ship burial chamber reconstruction. Managed by the National Trust, visitors can explore the exhibition hall with an intriguing video, learn about the fascinating story of Anglo-Saxon pagan kings, and participate in guided tours during summer.
This National Trust property is brilliant for the incredible historic value of the mighty Anglo Saxon Royal Burial ship site, and the excellent exhibits. Do the free tour with Monty very good and so informative. There are beautiful woodland walks. An all day experience and a credit to the staff, and National Trust .
Su M — Google review
We were inspired to visit by actor Tony Robinson, whose enthusiasm in the Time Team Sutton Hoo dig series is infectious. That said, our visit was not as excellent as we had hoped, and the reason was mostly how the Sutton Hoo story is told. Although there is significant East Anglian historical information online, and the National Trust web pages provide contextual information in manageable chunks, the story told onsite is not as seamless. Indeed, it’s a bit fragmented, with a bit found here, and a bit there. Moreover, we were unable to find much information during our visit about the modern excavations that create the storyline for the Time Team series. Other reviewers have mentioned that a guided tour brings many of these pieces together, but none was available when we visited. We found Tranmer House to be quite interesting because of the information available and the somewhat innovative display methods being used, but it was a bit of a challenge to follow the storyline because there is no directional advice in the rooms. The highlight of the house displays is the collection of 1939 dig photographs by amateur photographers Mercie Lack and Barbara Wagstaff. Similarly, the High Hall exhibition space near the main entrance is designed to be explored in one direction, but without any indication of where one should start, we were halfway around in the opposite direction before we sensed we were seeing things in the wrong order. The hall’s current exhibition “The Dig: A Story Unearthed,” which explores the making of the 2025 Netflix film, is excellent. As for the mounds themselves, they’re pretty unremarkable to see, but the walk to and from was nice. So, our summary: Definitely go, but read up before your visit, and arrange a guided tour if possible. Our visit was about 2.5 hours.
David R — Google review
Well worth the visit if your holidaying in this area. Time team were there too filming a dig. Edith pretty home is lovely, and the grounds are a must to walk. The mounds are explained when u go up the tower to observe.

Such a great day out! Right from the friendly staff in the ticket office, to the very knowledgeable guides around the site, everything is well organised. The tour of the mounds is fascinating, the house is also steeped in interesting items and the "Dig" exhibition is amazing. Don't miss the lovely walk down to the river through the forest and fields of sheep. Back to the cafe for reasonably priced delicious food and drinks. The fresh cream tea was perfect. Thanks to all for making the day special.

An interesting destination and quite different from other National Trust sites. The car park is fairly small but there us an overflow car park available. The main exhibition hall and cafe and shop are next to the car park, which is really handy if anyone in your group has mobility issues. It's a short walk to the house, which has some interesting displays and activities. The burial mounds are about 10 minutes beyond the house. Overall I would say this is very family orientated, with lots of activities for children but if you aren't a member the price is quite high compared to other NT properties.

Excellent exhibition and staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Great facilities, lovely walks and views, with viewing tower of burial mounds and paths surrounding. Nice walk down to the river Deben with views over Woodbridge.
Spencer W — Google review
Very kind and helpful guides. They looked after us well and supplied an all-terrain wheelchair for one of our party to use. Quite a large site with several areas to discover. The burial mounds, whilst archaeologically important, are a tad underwhelming. The exhibition Hall is well laid out with both original and reproductions and the guide there was very helpful. Of course the shop and cafe are very good as I now come to expect.
Gary K — Google review
We arrived about 9:50 and there were 4 cars ahead of us in the queue, and they opened the gates bang on 10am. For the first hour it was quiet and peaceful; everything set out for the kids this summer holiday was accessible and colourful, and once the exhibition hall was opened, you had an uninhibited chance to see the artefacts. Staff were friendly and we were lucky with the weather too. It was our first visit as we holidayed in the area, and when my boys are older, I think they will enjoy it a lot more.

BeWILDerwood Norfolk is an expansive forest-based theme park situated on the outskirts of Bure Marshes National Nature Reserve. Inspired by local author Tom Blofeld's enchanting children's books, this award-winning adventure park offers a magical experience for families. Visitors can explore treehouses, partake in enchanted boat rides, and encounter captivating characters from the stories. The park welcomes both kids and adults to enjoy activities such as zip wires and jungle bridges.
We went on a Friday in the summer holidays. It was busy but we got there for opening and were able to see everything and do everything we wanted to before closing! Food was simple but affordable and we didn’t have to wait. The staff are superb, friendly, engaging and really helpful! Kerri who was driving our boat that day, was brilliant, kept us all safe, told us a brilliant story and pointed out all the Kingfishers and deer along the route. Highly recommend!
Lorna B — Google review
I highly recommend BeWILDerwood, it’s such a great place for kids (& us adults!). There’s plenty to do, slides, zip wires, adventure playgrounds, mazes, swings, balancing beams & climbing walls. We also really enjoyed lunch here, plenty of choice & reasonably priced. The staff are really lovely & helpful also. We arrived 15 minutes early to queue up & headed straight to the boat which I would recommend, when we arrived back from the boat ride it was very busy!! Definitely a full day of fun!
Laura E — Google review
What a quirky little (by that we mean huge) place! Loved this magical little find! With little ones in tow who love the outdoors- this was absolutely perfect for a blend of adventure, play and some good Norfolk fresh air! The zip line, climbing wall, slides and tree huts kept them entertained for the day- we did eat at the restaurant to warm up, food was good- no complaints and wasn’t a silly price like Lots of the in resort eateries can be at these places. Price to get in is quite expensive but when you get a full day of fun and some very tired children at the end of it, it’s worth it! The boat ride into the park was also very exciting for two youngsters! Bewilderwood- much love from us for an amazing day
Kirsty W — Google review
Great place to take younger children and a giggle or two for adults too. The site is well laid out with a huge amount of climbing and sliding options to contend with. The aerial maze was particularly good and the boat ride around the lake is a must do. Good facilities with food and drink options but also plenty of tables for picnics. Eating whilst the shows are on is a great tip and many people do it as it’s undercover so if a hot day provides shade or a wet day provides sanctuary. I would definitely recommend it for a fun family day out.
Jamie L — Google review
What a fantastic place. I was concerned by the ticket price but it was worth every penny. We got there for opening and it was busy but we went on everything and only had to queue for the boat ride and the bigger zip wire but everything else was easily accessible. The staff were all friendly and helpful and we had a fantastic day. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a fun packed day out.
Kimberley O — Google review
Lots for the kids to do , plenty of picnic tables, food was nice and not too badly priced. Went end of October so was treated to the light walk. Great day out
Tracy M — Google review
Great day with my 8 year old. The various adventure areas are huge and as an adult I was able to take part too. My daughter particularly loved the drop slides, sky maze, and the boat ride with Jade (who is fantastic at their job). Lots of tree cover so would be great on a hot day. Even saw a slow worm!
Mareli G — Google review
Excellent place for kids who love the outdoors! Plenty of activities to get involved in as well as a selection of food places to eat. The sky bridges/climbing frames and slides were fun even for my 3yo. The prices were excellent too and we spent 5hrs there! The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Majority of the place had paths but there were a few spots that the pram struggled.

East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden is a stunning 32-acre modern garden in Norfolk, designed by Alan Gray and Graham Robeson. It features themed garden rooms such as herbaceous borders, sunken rose garden, woodland garden, Mediterranean garden, and an Arizonian-inspired Desert Wash area. The extensive grounds also include rare species, an apple walk, and a cornfield. This hidden gem offers visitors a unique experience with its diverse landscapes and beautiful vistas.
Wonderful gardens. The creativity is amazing when you realise originally it was just flat arable land. So many different garden rooms, your eye is drawn to many intriguing gaps to go through and explore. Lovely old walls & hedges you really feel as though you are on a journey of discovery. Lovely cafe with lots of outside space to sit & enjoy coffee or lunch. Highly recommend.
Sally M — Google review
These gardens are vast and it's very easy to wander through a hedge into another section and get a bit lost Think Harry Potter goblet of fire maze scene! There are plenty of places to rest but you should get there when it opens at 12 as you'll need the time. The cafe is a bit pricey, cakes are lovely, cheese scones were not but they did give us free cakes and were very good. There are toilets and plenty of plants to buy. Disabled parking next to the entrance in the shade if you get there early. Recommended.
John P — Google review
Lovely garden. Lots to see. Although we were given a map on entry, once in the ground there is no indication were you are. I am sure we missed quite a few areas. It still took us a couple of hours including a stop at the coffee shop where we had a delicious courgette and lime cake.
Catherine B — Google review
Fantastic garden to visit! A real treasure for the eye, so much to see and beautifully done. I have been twice, and each time the owners were working in the garden and very happy to chat to you. There is a lovely coffee shop on site, too. This is one of the best gardens I have visited.
Jill K — Google review
We've been coming to Norfolk for 15 years and only have just been given a recommendation to come here. But I'm so glad we have. What beautiful gardens, built up over 50 years with obvious love and in-depth knowledge of horticulture from the owners. There is so much to see. Just when you think you've seen everything, you find another nook or cranny bursting with colour and fragrance. There are lots of seated areas, either to sit and rest or just take in the breathtaking surroundings. The entrance and exit are adjacent to the tea room, so the choice is there is to either fuel up before your walk round or relax afterwards. We shared a pot of tea with the apple crumble cake, which has to go down as one of the best cakes I've had at any tea room. It is very reasonably priced and a must for any keen gardeners visiting the area. You can even purchase plants from their shop before you leave.
Jacqui S — Google review
Our first visit here. Absolutely brilliant. The planting is beautiful. So many layers of different textures, colours, and scent. The eye wonders from the high trees down to the rambling plants and every pathway teasing you to walk down to find out whats around the next corner or through that little gap you spied into the next section. The buildings and structures nestle into the planting seamlessly unlike the fountain that unashamedly stands out high and proud making noise pretending to be a waterfall to steal your eye away from the plants. There are ponds and pools filled with plants and fish. There is a dry river bed desert themed garden. There's an orchard. Long high hedged grass areas with focal points of statues or arch ways to draw you in. Woodland walks. Alpaca and guineafowl. You will definitely be ready for a piece of cake and a pot of tea at the tea room after exploring ready to recharge for more exploring of all the things you've missed first time round. The gardens are accessible to all there are wheelchair and mobility scooter pathways and ramps to help you enjoy the gardens. There are toilets on site too. Plenty of parking too. No dogs are allowed here and no picnics are allowed in the grounds either. When I read the no picnics bit I though that was a negative then after walking around the gardens I could see that there are few places you could sit to have a picnic and also it would attract litter and mess and require litter bins ect that would ruin the views so do as we did and enjoy a sit down in the tea room or on the outside tables and chairs. The public loos are basic and there was a wait as there aren't many, something to keep in mind. They are fit for purpose though And your not here to look at the toilets are you? This is a place we'd definitely visit again and I'll be encouraging people I know that are in to this to definitely give it a visit.

Really outstanding gardens! A really special place to visit. Lots of variety and the perfect size to spend an afternoon exploring. Honestly has to be one of the best gardens in the country. We felt the cost was a bit steep before going at nearly £15 per adult, but we see now that it's worth every penny and after speaking to some friendly regulars are now looking at getting a seasonal pass, which is actually really very good value.

The Happisburgh Owls tourist attraction offers an exceptional animal encounter, highly recommended by reviews. Visitors can enjoy a unique experience of having tea while holding owls, which is both entertaining and educational. Sandra and Darwin, who manage the facility, have a remarkable bond with the owls, evident in how the birds respond to them. Each owl showcases distinctive personalities that add to the charm of the experience.
I had a great time here - I got a voucher for my birthday so I didn't know what to expect. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and passionate about looking after the owls and we had some very interesting conversations throughout the day. We were able to stay for as long as we liked and we're made to feel totally at home. The owls are clearly well looked after and loved.
Kris B — Google review
I simply wish I could give more stars, 5 simply isn't enough for Happisburgh Owls! My partner bought me this experience as a gift for my birthday and it was easily one of the best days I've had! Darwin and Sandra are simply wonderful and down to earth, so so lovely to chat to throughout the day and brimming with knowledge. All the owls are beautiful, treated with the utmost care and as Sandra mentioned to us during the day, are essentially her children. I'm not sure the price as was a gift, but I'll be paying whatever it is to bring my family next year. You simply cannot have this same private experience anywhere else. If you love owls or birds in general, you will 100% love this! Cannot wait to visit again!

I arranged for a visit to celebrate my Wife's birthday and our 5th wedding anniversary and it was an unforgettable experience. Darwin was an absolutely fantastic host and very knowledgeable about a subject that he is obviously very passionate about. The real stars were of course the owls, Laser really won our hearts, he is incredible and my wife felt a real connection with him similar to his connection with Sandra that we were so privileged to witness. We couldn't have been looked after any better and we will definitely be returning, thanks guys!

We had a lovely afternoon with Sandra and Darwin who shared a magical day with us and their amazing collection of owls who were friendly and calm with our children. They made us feel at home and taught us lots of interesting facts and information which we will treasure for many years to come. Well worth experience all round amazing cake and coffee also supplied which was very tasty 😊

We visited on Monday and had a wonderful experience. Sandra and Darwin spent hours teaching us about the owls and introducing us to them individually, giving us the opportunity to hold them, take photos and learn about the different species they have there. The owls are kept in beautiful, clean aviaries and the care they receive is obviously outstanding. The passion of Sandra and Darwin for their owls was really evident. We were made so welcome, treated to drinks and cake throughout our visit and given plenty of time to ask questions and interact with the owls. Highly recommend supporting Happisburgh owls through visiting - especially as the whole cost of entry goes towards caring so well for the owls.

Sandra and Darwin are brilliant, lovely people! Felt very welcoming from start to finish. I come nearly every year and it just feels like another home to me. This recent visit, I brought my two girls with me and they loved it! Darwin and Sandra was very good with them! It’s so nice to get up close to the owls and see each of their personalities ☺️

Absolutely wonderful experience. Sandra and Darwin made it an amazing day, so caring, helpful and are so knowledgeable about owls. My daughter bought it as a birthday present for her Mum, wow what a great present, she / we all absolutely loved it. Highly recommend. A very special and intimate experience, thank you 🦉👍🥰
Gary O — Google review
We were on holiday in the Manor Caravan Park in August and it was on their Facebook page that they were having an open day on the Sunday we were there. It was their first ever open day so we didn't know exactly what to expect. What nobody expected was for the local press to find out about it and advertise it in the paper. As a result, when we got there at about 11 o clock there was a queue of about twelve people. The lady on the gate was very apologetic because no-one was expecting it to be so popular and as a result there was a bit of a delay. After a twenty-ish minute wait we paid our £5 entry fee (per person, it would have been value for money at double that). We were introduced to a charming young man by the name of Darwin who would be our host/guide for the tour. We were shown around the sanctuary's "family" of owls, they are so highly regarded by those who look after them. Each owl has a different story as to why it's in there and each one has its own personality. The depth of knowledge in all of the staff is astounding. The reason for the open day was to help raise funds for the feed for the owls, the price of frozen mice etc. has skyrocketed due to the energy crisis/COVID and to raise awareness of the sanctuary itself. They mainly do owl experiences where you can spend time with the owls, handling them and getting to know their stories on a one to one basis. Sandra and the staff also take the owls out into the community, to fairs etc. but one of the most fascinating things they do is take them around the care homes and hospital/hospices in the area like other places use dogs and cats. Apparently the reaction from the residents is amazing. I hope this hasn't put Sandra and the other staff off doing something like this again, it was a fantastic experience for the wife and I and we're thankful that we were there when it happened. Good luck to all at Happisburgh Owls, we will be back.

Snape Maltings is a vibrant hub of music, independent shops, galleries, and dining options housed in repurposed Victorian buildings. Once one of the largest flat floor maltings in the country, it was transformed into its current lively mix by George Gooderham starting in 1965.
Easily one of the most magical places to get married for music lovers. I photographed a wedding here and as a musician myself I was just blown away by how special it felt. Plus it’s just a really unique setting for a wedding. So many marquees and barns these days - they’re pretty, yes, but there’s nothing else quite like this. 🙌🏻

Went to a concert as part of the annual celebration and it is such a great location. The main concert hall has great views from all seats. Toilets are plentiful and clean. Bar is reasonably priced for a captive audience. Staff helpful and the whole site is magical.

Really lovely place to visit- you could easily spend the whole day here as its in a beautiful riverside setting and there is so much to see and to do. Perhaps you will choose to walk out over the marshes on the board walk, take a boat trip, wander around the antique shop, admire the work in the art galleries, buy something fabulous from the interiors shop for your home, treat yourself to something stylish and unique from the boutique, have lunch in the excellent coffee shop and stock up on produce from the deli, all before visiting the concert hall and experiencing a performance in a concert hall with extraordinary acoustics...... Visit Snape Maltings:you will be pleased you did.

We went to a National Youth Orchestra concert, which was excellent, and then spent several hours the next day exploring the site and doing some shopping. There are lots of different things to see and do, so we had a very enjoyable experience.

Let me start saying it's not the cheapest of places, but however it's a lovely place to visit there are lots of little craft shops and café. You can walk around the place and take in the river and scenery. As for music venue goes it's really quite good. As driver getting in it's a bit of a nightmare. One way system lots of parking.
Paul J — Google review
I visited Snape Maltings today. I followed the "Way out" signs, only to be met with heavy plant working on the roadway. I was abruptly told to back up and use the incoming lane to exit. Shame no one in project management even considered rerouting the way out signs whilst the work is going on as I was not the only member of public who followed these signs to be faced with same dilemma. I'm pretty sure the health and safety executive would be very interested in this issue.
S K — Google review
Free parking, funky shops, great pub and cafe onsite (veg samosas and ginger ice cream to die for). Great for a mooch and an ice cream on the lawn during the day but do try and get a ticket to see some world class music in the main hall in the evening - its an outstanding night out at an iconic venue. Also great walks from the car park and forrest nearby to the south (again plenty of free parking in the woods). Great day out.

The galleries, food shops and the actual attraction are lovely but the antique shop is selling Golliwog key rings. Not sure why this is being accepted in this day and age. Pretty despicable.

What an interesting castle, only one of two in this style in England. Intact, with an excellent interactive audio guide included. Lots of interesting and unusual features. Doesn't take very long to explore all areas but definitely worth the visit. Orford village is so pretty too!

It is a small castle, but it has beautiful views. Ran and cared for by English heritage. A few rooms to explore and a few stairs to climb obviously, an audio guild is available also. Small car park, free for English Heritage members.

Absolutely quintessential castle keep. Built in the 12th century for Henry II, Orford Castle was intended to curtail the power of turbulent East Anglian barons, such as Hugh Bigod of nearby Framlingham Castle. Its polygonal keep was built to a revolutionary design, which is today a landmark in the Suffolk landscape
Mike W — Google review
Well maintained castle and impressed by the multi media guide, very interactive and what a unique experience. Definitely would recommend it.
Eric T — Google review
Orford Castle is a remarkable 12th-century fortress located in the village of Orford, Suffolk, England. Commissioned by King Henry II between 1165 and 1173, the castle was built to assert royal authority in East Anglia, a region then dominated by powerful barons like Hugh Bigod. Its unique polygonal keep, described by historian R. Allen Brown as “one of the most remarkable keeps in England,” showcases a blend of military and symbolic architectural elements, possibly influenced by Byzantine designs. The keep’s design features a central circular tower flanked by three rectangular towers, creating a distinctive and innovative structure for its time . Beyond its architectural significance, Orford Castle is steeped in local legend. One of the most famous tales is that of the “Wild Man of Orford,” a mysterious, hairy man captured by fishermen and held in the castle, who eventually escaped back to the sea. This legend has contributed to the rich tapestry of folklore surrounding the castle . Today, Orford Castle is managed by English Heritage and is open to the public. Visitors can explore the well-preserved keep and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding Suffolk countryside. The castle also houses the Orford Museum, which features exhibits on local history and archaeological finds. For those planning a visit, the castle is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Booking tickets online before 8:45 AM on the day of your visit can save you 15% on admission. Please note that while tickets are valid all day, parking fees may apply separately .

For those captivated by maritime history, the Alfred Corry Lifeboat Museum in Southwold is a must-visit destination. This charming museum showcases the remarkable legacy of the town's seafaring past and pays tribute to the courageous individuals who risked their lives for others at sea. At its heart lies the historic Alfred Corry lifeboat, which served valiantly from 1893 to 1918, embarking on 41 missions and saving 47 sailors during its operational years.
Excellent guides, some awesome stories of what these incredible people did before more modern equipment became available. Always tugs on the heart strings. Car parking is low price and the Lifeboat Station with the duty boat (Atlantic) is in a building nearby.

Southwold Lighthouse, a 19th-century seaside tower, offers visitors the chance to climb a spiral staircase and enjoy panoramic views. The area is known for its seafood, with locally caught fish being a highlight. The lighthouse often has pre-show specials for those interested in pairing dinner with a film at the nearby traditional cinema. Additionally, it's praised for its reliable service and reasonable prices.
I had the pleasure of visiting the lighthouse during the Adnams tour, and it was absolutely fascinating. This thoughtful birthday gift allowed me to explore a piece of history right here in our county, for which I’m truly grateful. The tour, which lasts about an hour, offers incredible insights, though it does involve some climbing—so be prepared for a bit of a workout!

Excellent tour guide, who was interesting, enthusiastic, and informative. Amazingly clear views are seen from the top of the lighthouse of the town and coastline. Narrow and steep steps have handrails but are not recommended for those who have mobility, heart, or breathing problems ( the guide is a trained first aider) Nice touch at the end of the tour with an Adnams beer or soft drink voucher to exchange at their Sole Bay Inn situated directly opposite.

Fantastic knowledge of the history of Southwold and other Trinity lighthouses by Martin (our Adnams tour guide). An enjoyable hour well spent.

If you are visiting Southwold this tour is must do. Currently booked through Adnams brewery tours. The tour of the lighthouse has 113 steps, glorious views of Southwold and the coast with a bit of history thrown in. Our guide Bev gave us lots of information and facts about the lighthouse and the various lamps used over the years to keep the light shining. The story of the bakers boy who noticed the light was out and raised the alarm which led to the discovery of the keepers being too ill with Spanish flu to keep the light burning which led to him and his dad keeping the light burning while they recovered. We had amazing weather when we visited so got some lovely views of the town and the sea.

113 steps, glorious views and a bit of history all thrown in. The best story was of the bakers boy who found the light had gone out, discovered the keepers were down with Spanish flu and so with his dad kept the light burning whilst they recovered. We were very lucky with the weather and so got glorious views of the town and sea.

Southwold Pier is a classic Edwardian pier that has been modernized for 21st-century enjoyment. It offers picturesque spots for iconic seaside photos, including a water clock designed by inventor Tim Hunkin. The pier features arcade amusements, shops, and restaurants, as well as the unique Under the Pier show with homemade coin-operated arcade machines. Located near Southwold town center and its sandy beach, the pier provides access to various food outlets and family-friendly attractions.
Lovely time spent along the sea front, pier and town. Pier has an unusual collection of amusement (you need coins - they have a change machine for notes) Great fish and chips shop by the pier with a lovely, young friendly couple working there when we visited. The town is very nice with a tea/coffee cafe that does some tasty and unusual pasties. There is a lighthouse actually in the town, but you need to book ahead for tours. There is also a large, and old church with 17th century graves and beautiful architecture inside and out (even though we're pagan) All in all a relaxed place to visit and relax by the seaside without masses of arcades .

Entry to the pier is free and there’s a number of small eating establishments on the pier. SO if you fancy the smell of the sea, it’s highly recommended. It’s a bit of a walk into the town after though

Although a bit chilly and windy we had a lovely walk on Southwold Pier. At the very end you can have your picture taken as a pirate and watch the fishermen. Had an excellent coffee and pecan pie in the cafe, which is dog friendly too!

Lots of fun. Quality food and drink and eccentric fun on this well kept pier. Makes a change from the tat you often find on seaside piers. Do try the quirky arcade cum art exhibition for fun. Also don’t miss the cheeky water sculpture.

View from our beach hut rented for the day. Lovely albeit small beach, with plenty of toilets and facilities. Pier is upmarket and well looked after. Small amusements but not dominating. Nice small town centre. Great for a day trip but imagine busy in the summer.
Alex B — Google review
A well kept and upbeat pier. Some wonderful mechanical things - the clock and the sign for ‘Southwold Pier’. Had delicious fish and chips. A windy day but lots of sunshine.
Christina B — Google review
Lovely little pier with lots on it, a gift shop, multiple places to eat and drink and a great view back over the town at the end. Seating booths all along to protect from the wind which is great. Only thing putting me off was how expensive the restaurants were and how busy the arcade was. It's such a beautiful spot though so the busyness was to be expected.

Nestled in Caister-on-Sea, just north of Great Yarmouth, Yarmouth Stadium is a thrilling hub for motorsport and greyhound racing enthusiasts alike. This vibrant venue hosts exhilarating greyhound races three times a week—Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 PM—alongside an array of motor racing events including banger and hot rod races.
Really nice stadium to watch motor racing. Great family atmosphere, everyone so friendly and welcoming. Catering facilities top notch for a venue like this, the loaded fries were incredible, burgers tasty. Easy to access, loads of parking. Great day/evening out, even our 9 month old loved the racing.

Always love a bit of banger racing when we are in great Yarmouth. Reasonable price for a family ticket. Lots of parking. Entertaining night out for all the family Friendly , helpful staff. Definitely worth a visit
Steffan S — Google review
Wicked fun evening watching the bangers, not much parking but an abundance of space in the area. Toilets weren’t bad to be fair and the price of food and drink was better than I expected! Lots of action, definitely wasn’t boring!
Zach C — Google review
What can I say that the Yarmouth Stadium is definitely worth a visit if you are in Great Yarmouth well worth the price as it around 3 hours of racing bangers, I would say take a chair and food and drinks as cash as the vans around the track only take cash as they all get very busy for food and drinks

Went to the Halloween banger racing meeting - what a night out!! Parking next to main building, few quid, good amenties once inside, £50 for family ticket. Loads of places to watch action from. Staff nice. Track walk fun, drivers were absolutely lovely. Kids especially enjoyed the caravan derby, watching them get smashed to pieces!! Definitely worth doing if in the area. Downsides - very expensive low quality hot drinks, snacks pricey (removed a star for this) but you can take your own in to avoid very high cost. Very cold (it is outdoors obviously) so extra layers, thick coats a must. All in all, a brilliant experience and loads of fun
J — Google review
Great night banger racing, only negatives are food vendors outside are cash only and it’s a long walk for toilets if you are watching on the kennels side of the track.

Fantastic evening out. From the minute we arrived we were treated kindly due to having disabled children, they let us in for reduced prices even though they dont do confessions. The manager was lovely and went out of her way to help. Banger racing is great and we go whenever we can. Parking available and even closer to the venue if you have a blue badge. You are charged £2 per car to enter the carpark. Its well managed with Marshalls too.
N W — Google review
A superb evening of stock car and Banger racing at a great venue. Parking easy and only £2. If you decide not to sit in the grandstand there is great banked viewing around the stadium with great views. Food etc reasonably priced compared to other stadiums I have been to. Toilets were okay 👍 Would recommended a visit here.

SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth is a family-friendly attraction located on the famous seafront of Great Yarmouth. It offers a variety of sea creatures, including blacktip reef sharks, African dwarf crocodiles, and clownfish. Visitors can explore the world of jellyfish in the Jelly Invaders display, observe Humboldt penguins, and walk through an ocean tunnel surrounded by a quarter-million liters of seawater.
Visit the sea life centre at least once a year. We absolutely love it. Lots of information points as you walk around about the animals around you. We particularly enjoy the submarine that you can walk into and see animals much closer, including the sting rays and blue lobsters.

Ignore what it says online as its says to be there for the time you booked but getting there you get a stamp and are told you can come and go as you please! So this is great if you wanna hear all the talks or go in and out and get a coffee. Place needs a damn good clean!!! But other than that still nice to look around! The talks and feedings were great too!
Natasha P — Google review
My son had a lovely time touching the starfish and little waterfall, and loved the sharks. Staff were understanding of his autism and that was much appreciated, cool octopus there too! Going to take him to see the penguins next time. Prices were better too off season, only £16 pp, and a free ticket for a carer if you're on PIP, so saved £16 too. Overall good activity for kids and adults alike, but the gift shop is very expensive! Avoid at all costs if possible haha! Only a stone's throw away from places to get food and drink too, and right on the sea front, bowling alley on the nearby Wellington Pier and arcades also. Very well situated, also close to Pleasure Beach. I'd recommend it to anyone with kids.
Elvira N — Google review
Walk through tunnel was lovely, good for the kids to see the animals well. In the room with yellow submarine, you were about to previously purchase food and feed the fish. There was a crocodile which you don't always see at sealife centres. Option to touch a starfish too. Nice as you could pay a little extra and it got you entry to the Giant Wheel too! Gift shop is very large, took kids a long time to pick something.
Charlotte N — Google review
Not as big as other Sealife Centre s but still plenty to see and do. The café was reasonably priced and the bathroom facilities were very clean. Ample room to change the baby.
Christine C — Google review
Highly recommended to book ticket online since it has discount for blue light card or student etc. The ticket allowed you to go in and out for a day multiple times. Although I must say this aquarium is not as big as others we had been like London, Newquay, Weymouth and Birmingham. Having said that we enjoyed the tunnel watching, penguin, fresh water fish, amphibians and experience on touching star fish.

Our first visit to Great Yarmouth and to the Sea Life Centre been to Blackpool one years ago. This was a different set up bit smaller but nicely set out with Real Penguins talks were imformative and interesting Tanks clean and tidy enjoyable experience cafe clean and plenty of room with clean toilets. Can re-enter after you have left which is a bonus and makes it good value
Paul A — Google review
Visited the SeaLife centre with my daughter whilst on holiday at Great Yarmouth. Bought the tickets in advance. I did get my hand stamped as they said I could enter the shop and cafe anytime that day up to 3pm. Soon as we entered there was a member of staff waiting to take photos for us to purchase at the end. It was good, not as big as the one in London tho, we saw the penguins 🐧 the sharks, loads of fishes, sea horses, octopus 🐙 (can’t believe they have 9 brains 🧠 and 3 hearts)once we came to the end we did purchase our photos they did have a deal (we got 2 photos 2 magnets and 2 small keyring sized pics for £20) then we stopped off to have a look in the gift shop. Overall it was a nice experience as this was our first time visiting the Great Yarmouth SeaLife. 👍🏻

Joyland is a long-standing family-owned amusement park located in the vibrant seaside town of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. Established in 1949, this free-entry attraction offers an array of thrilling rides for children, including the famous Tyrolean Tub Twist and Snails ride. The park features a Toy Town Mountain with attractions like the Spook Express Kiddie Coaster and Neptunes Kingdom Undersea Fantasy Ride. Visitors can also enjoy a traditional American diner for refreshments.
Small theme park for young children. The rides are very well kept considering their age. It's like stepping back in time but in a good way. I have childhood memories of going on the same rides that my daughter has now had a ride on including the snails.
Kev L — Google review
Been coming here for 40 years, still love it. Snails are still a highlight. It's so small and tightly packed that it's a bit claustrophobic though. Very hard with a wheelchair to get around without bashing into everyone else. That being said, still amazing for the kids.
Steven W — Google review
Really liked Joyland, its not huge but just right for the older kids that can get on by themselves. I do like the token system and like how they give you stickers with your number on it to access your pictures at the end. The time we went wasn't soo busy so was pleasant. Little cramped but otherwise really good, would go again!
Ateeqah S — Google review
Brilliant we all had such fun on the 18 hole pirate crazy golf. It also has facts about pirates on the way round
Stu M — Google review
We visited on a quiet day and most rides were open. We wanted to see the famous Snails Ride for which Joyland is known for and we was not disappointed. There it was stood in glamour, opened in 1949 and still there to it's day. Joyland is a young children's Amusements park with rides just for them. You pay via tokens and entrance is free. You can find a video of our visit on our youtube channel.

Amazing and completely unique family run amusement Park. Suitable for every single age group without exception! No visit to Gt Yarmouth is complete with a ride on the snails. Lots of fun and incredibly nostalgic.
Corine S — Google review
we visited last week, i DID NOT feel the joy guys, We rode the snails, very excited for this, The man operating it was extremely rude. I asked if there was a specific place my daughter should sit & his response was, I don’t know i just work here…snatched the tokens and looked away. Leaving me to scramble into the snail and just figure it out. The vibe was completely off & we left. If you are going to call yourself joyful at least make sure your staff are joyful & care about safety.

Great day out. I have been coming here 30 years since I was a child I am now taking my children and to my delight it’s exactly the same as it was back then it’s so amazing to see such a Gem unchanged as the times move so fast. Only thing different was the price as to be expected. 10/10

My new favourite Amusement Park not in Staffordshire or Lancashire! No ride queues and I went on a Saturday in summer! Granted i was with the group which got an extra 2 hours, but still...

Came today. we paid for a card on entry. Easy to use, and you can top up/check balance in lots of places in the park. Most rides are for young kids, nothing too extreme. The wooden roller coaster and monorail were good. Staff seemed friendly, especially the lady at the entrance. Excellent customer service 👍

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an amazing day at Great Yarmouth Beach – perfect for a fun family outing! The soft sand and lovely sea made it such a relaxing experience. It wasn’t too busy, which was a nice surprise, and the atmosphere was great. We enjoyed some fresh fish and chips by the sea – absolutely delicious and full of flavour! The only downside was the number of seagulls (they really love the chips!), but it didn’t spoil the day. All in all, a fantastic spot for some seaside fun. Highly recommended!

We visited here on a Wednesday evening, for the late opening hours, in late July and arrived at half five, meaning we could take advantage of the late evening wristband pricing (£17 for 5 until 9:30). There are also fun cards at £5 or £10 which offer 5 or 10 ride credits and can be topped up inside the park. However suspect the latter are a false economy if you have more than 2 or 3 rides - especially in the evening, as most main rides are 4 or 5 credits. There was a fair size of queue to the ticket booth but it moved quickly and probably only took 5 to 10 minutes to get to the entrance. There is a good range of flat rides and four coasters, with all costers being aimed at family-friendly. The wooden roller coaster is the oldest in the UK and has a brake man riding on the train. While not the smoothest or comfiest ride, it is good to ride a bit of history. The remaining three are Family Star, a short spinning wild mouse and two small kiddy coasters. The flat rides are good variety, with spinning and drops and also a gyro swing. What struck us was that the park was relatively quiet for school holiday season and queues were short. The ride throughput would be increased further if the very slow wristband scanning was not performed - not really sure why this is needed as takes a got 10 seconds to read each one, based on our experience. Food offerings are OK - there is a large hot food stall that does hotdogs (not so good), burgers (better) and loaded fries (decent) amongst other offerings. All in all, worth a visit even in peak summer as really never felt busy and plenty of ride opportunities.
Ian A — Google review
Went as a family. You can get 5 credits to get in and use on one ride if going with a group of kids. The food hall and bar are great. The rides make it more like a smaller fair rather than a pleasure beach like Blackpool but still great.

A Fantastic Day Out at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach! We had an amazing time at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach! There’s a perfect mix of classic rides, family-friendly attractions, and thrill-seeking roller coasters. The historic wooden roller coaster is an absolute must-try – a true blast from the past! The park was clean, well-organised, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the day. Entry with the wristband is great value for money, especially if you’re planning to go on lots of rides. It’s also right by the beach, so we could enjoy the rides and then relax with some fish and chips on the seafront. Plenty of food options, clean toilets, and seating areas made it comfortable for families. Whether you’re visiting with kids, friends, or as a couple, it’s a great spot for some good old-fashioned fun. Highly recommend – we’ll definitely be back next summer!
A J — Google review
I couldn't really find anything to fault here yesterday with three bored kids. Despite it being a Peak Season Sunday all the queues were very short, just a couple of minutes. A little longer for the big coaster but even that was less than ten minutes. Every ride looked to be well staffed, no litter in sight. The guy manning the Dodgems literally couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, he gave the impression he genuinely wanted to be there. Over the course of the day my lads went on about thirty(!) rides each, so they got superb value from their 'all rides' wristbands. The only thing I could ask was for some concessions for Blue Light card holders, other than that, an easy five stars!

So its the end of summer, the rain is biblical, but Great Yarmouth still saved a little magic for us. Rainbows over the beach. Oh, and a cheeky ice cream. The great British summer delivers.
